1:04
SPEAKER_00: Our ears have been designed to listen, right?
1:06
SPEAKER_00: We we've been designed to hear.
1:08
SPEAKER_00: And if you're not speaking into the void of that young man, somebody is.
1:13
SPEAKER_00: If you're not teaching your kids, your next door neighbor is.
1:15
SPEAKER_00: I remember when my neck when my kids came to us and they had said a bad word and I looked at them and I said, Hey, so where did you learn that?
1:22
SPEAKER_00: And they knew that something one of my kids knew that it was really bad and kept saying it until I had to tell them to physically stop, right?
1:30
SPEAKER_00: I said that um so-and-so the neighbor had taught us that.
1:33
SPEAKER_00: And there's a point there.
1:35
SPEAKER_00: If you're not discipling your kids, somebody is discipling.
1:39
SPEAKER_00: If you're not being discipled, in reality you really are.
1:42
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:43
SPEAKER_00: You know, go back to listening to our podcast from uh a couple days ago or last week, right?
1:47
SPEAKER_00: With their smartphones.
1:48
SPEAKER_00: There are people and things that are vying for your time.
1:51
SPEAKER_00: And if you're not listening to the sweet voices of Christ found inside the word of God, well then the sirens will dash you up against the rocks with their waves and they will swoo you away with their sweet voices that will not make any sense.
2:05
SPEAKER_00: It'll seem to be heady, but there will be no substance to it whatsoever.
2:15
SPEAKER_01: Hello, hello, how do you do?
2:17
SPEAKER_02: I want to talk to you about IQ.
2:21
SPEAKER_02: I love IQ control.
2:21
SPEAKER_02: And this is well, this is what I do know, though, that you guys have no idea what IQ stands for.
2:29
SPEAKER_00: Ingredients control.
2:31
SPEAKER_02: Intellectual control.
2:34
SPEAKER_02: Intelligence.
2:35
SPEAKER_02: Ah, you can't even read that word.
2:37
SPEAKER_02: Quota.
2:38
SPEAKER_02: Quint.
2:39
SPEAKER_02: Intelligence quotient.
2:41
SPEAKER_02: I was closed.
2:45
SPEAKER_02: It's a numerical score designed to measure certain kinds of cognitive ability, such as problem solving, reasoning, memory, and pattern recognition compared to the general population.
2:54
SPEAKER_06: I actually prefer this.
2:55
SPEAKER_02: This brings up a bad memory.
2:56
SPEAKER_06: Oh, go ahead.
2:57
SPEAKER_06: I prefer the uh what kind of Disney princess are you uh question about?
3:01
SPEAKER_02: That would fit within your life.
3:03
SPEAKER_02: Uh, but but this brings back a very, very bad, bad memory.
3:08
SPEAKER_02: This goes back actually being held back in kindergarten.
3:11
SPEAKER_02: No, this goes back about 21, 22 years ago.
3:14
SPEAKER_00: When you got your driver's license?
3:16
SPEAKER_02: When we were down at our other headquarters, and uh Mark, this was remember when we were in that room, we all sat in those, you know.
3:24
SPEAKER_02: Mark and I, you get people don't know this.
3:25
SPEAKER_02: Mark and I used to take orders, we used to pack orders, we used to take out the trash.
3:29
SPEAKER_02: We were in cubicles, all kinds of stuff.
3:32
SPEAKER_02: And uh Mark said, Hey, check out this IQ test.
3:35
SPEAKER_02: This is when I felt computers were kind of they're kind of dumb.
3:38
SPEAKER_02: But anyway, so I do this IQ test, and Mark kept killing me in it, and I was losing my mind.
3:47
SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I know I'm it's obvious I'm way smarter than Mark.
3:50
SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's obviously cheating as usual.
3:53
SPEAKER_02: And that's what happened.
3:53
SPEAKER_02: He was cheating the whole time.
3:55
SPEAKER_02: He he he knew all the answers, he researched them or whatever.
3:58
SPEAKER_02: Dude, that gave me distress.
4:01
SPEAKER_06: It's true.
4:02
SPEAKER_00: Well, it's it's not like I'm trying to grab.
4:04
SPEAKER_06: Have you legitimately taken one aga with each other since then?
4:07
SPEAKER_06: I not I don't think I have since then.
4:09
SPEAKER_00: I I've taken them many times.
4:10
SPEAKER_00: I I actually really enjoy taking them.
4:12
SPEAKER_00: Really?
4:12
SPEAKER_00: Um, but it's not that's not as bad.
4:15
SPEAKER_00: That's not as bad as when I send an email to Daniel, your son, pretending to be a famous hockey player for a team that he likes.
4:23
SPEAKER_00: And I had to create this email address through Hotmail.
4:26
SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you remember Hotmail, and it was uh like uh David Boyle at Hotmail.com who was an up-and-coming Kings.
4:33
SPEAKER_00: He was a rookie.
4:34
SPEAKER_00: And so all day long, Daniel was uh emailing back and forth with this guy.
4:39
SPEAKER_06: You're fishing him?
4:40
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it was just me, just one cubicle over.
4:43
SPEAKER_00: Now I know why Daniel hates you.
4:45
SPEAKER_03: It's all become very clear.
4:47
SPEAKER_03: It was so fun.
4:48
SPEAKER_03: Something in me as a parent is rising up right now.
4:51
SPEAKER_03: I'm getting angry.
4:53
SPEAKER_03: Yes.
4:53
SPEAKER_03: Oh, man.
4:54
SPEAKER_03: Don't do that to my boy.
4:56
SPEAKER_06: He still doesn't know.
4:56
SPEAKER_06: He still emails in as Dave Boyle or whatever.
4:59
SPEAKER_02: I feel like condemning you, Mark, but I'd be a hypocrite.
5:01
SPEAKER_02: I'll never forget what I did to poor Alan Pearson.
5:04
SPEAKER_02: Oh, it was so bad.
5:05
SPEAKER_02: Because he went to some event and someone came up and asked him if he was Kirk's father.
5:11
SPEAKER_02: So I made a fake email address and I said, Yeah, I, you know, this and that.
5:15
SPEAKER_02: I saw the event.
5:15
SPEAKER_02: By the way, are you Ray Comfort's father?
5:18
SPEAKER_02: And Alan was so mad.
5:20
SPEAKER_02: No, no.
5:21
SPEAKER_00: That's funny.
5:22
SPEAKER_00: That was good.
5:22
SPEAKER_00: He's a funny guy.
5:23
SPEAKER_00: Well, he's a practical jokester, so he deserved it.
5:25
SPEAKER_00: You asked him, Hey, where did you get that shirt?
5:27
SPEAKER_00: He's like, You like the shirt?
5:28
SPEAKER_00: He's like, It has sentimental value to me.
5:30
SPEAKER_00: My uncle was buried in it.
5:32
SPEAKER_00: He's so quick.
5:33
SPEAKER_02: His uncle Giuseppe.
5:35
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
5:36
SPEAKER_02: Anyway, um, so IQ tests.
5:40
SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, they're they're they're designed.
5:43
SPEAKER_02: So if you're 100, that's a statistical average.
5:46
SPEAKER_02: 85 to 115 is the average range for about 68% of the population.
5:50
SPEAKER_02: Below 70, which is Mark, significantly below average, above 130, gifted or very high.
5:59
SPEAKER_02: Mark, where do you rank, by the way, since you do them all the time?
6:02
SPEAKER_00: I'd be curious to take it.
6:03
SPEAKER_00: We should all take it.
6:03
SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
6:04
SPEAKER_02: Well, is it my perspective?
6:06
SPEAKER_03: Is it my pride that's making me nervous about this whole thing?
6:10
SPEAKER_02: I have some questions.
6:11
SPEAKER_02: No, I'm not gonna have you guys answer them, but have you asked chat what it thinks you're IQ test is?
6:16
SPEAKER_02: But that the the highest IQs recorded, Marilyn Voss Savant, 228.
6:22
SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's 227.
6:23
SPEAKER_02: No, there's somebody that's being that's being that.
6:25
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, is this the guy's Terence Tao?
6:27
SPEAKER_03: Is he the guy, the uh North Korean, South Korean?
6:30
SPEAKER_02: Terence Tao, maybe 220 to 230.
6:33
SPEAKER_03: He's a Christian.
6:33
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, claimed to be a Christian.
6:34
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
6:35
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
6:35
SPEAKER_02: So anyway, but but they're 227.
6:38
SPEAKER_02: There are questions like so you have questions like this bird is to sky, a submarine is to ocean.
6:44
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, or water.
6:45
SPEAKER_02: Um, define pragmatic.
6:48
SPEAKER_02: Is this for real?
6:49
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, which one does not belong?
6:51
SPEAKER_02: Apple, banana, carrot, grape?
6:53
SPEAKER_02: I'm like, dude, I'm a genius.
6:55
SPEAKER_02: Are these really the questions?
6:57
SPEAKER_02: It's gotta be like the art.
6:58
SPEAKER_02: But I think some of it is just common sense.
7:00
SPEAKER_02: You know, they test you on all kinds of things.
7:02
SPEAKER_02: Carrot.
7:05
SPEAKER_02: But then you hit ones like these.
7:07
SPEAKER_02: A train leaves at 3 p.m.
7:09
SPEAKER_02: at 60 miles an hour, another leaves at 4 p.m.
7:11
SPEAKER_02: at 75 miles an hour.
7:13
SPEAKER_02: When will the second train catch the first?
7:15
SPEAKER_03: You are the driver of the train.
7:17
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, turned into a joke.
7:19
SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, stuff like that.
7:21
SPEAKER_02: Um, all poets are dreamers.
7:22
SPEAKER_02: Some dreamers are musicians, therefore, some poets are musicians, yes or no.
7:27
SPEAKER_02: So you get stuff, you know, cool stuff like that.
7:29
SPEAKER_02: Anyway, whatever.
7:30
SPEAKER_02: Uh, you guys have low IQs.
7:32
SPEAKER_02: That's all that's all I wanted to say today.
7:34
SPEAKER_06: What do you do when you slam a telescope into a microscope?
7:39
SPEAKER_06: You get a kaleidoscope.
7:40
SPEAKER_02: Oh, IQ Twitter.
7:44
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, IQ T.
7:45
SPEAKER_02: There should be humor IQ.
7:47
SPEAKER_02: Some people definitely have a zero.
7:49
SPEAKER_03: Did you like exams in school?
7:51
SPEAKER_03: Because exams had things like that in them.
7:53
SPEAKER_02: Did I like them?
7:54
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, did you enjoy them?
7:55
SPEAKER_02: Uh, some of them.
7:56
SPEAKER_02: I I I gravitated toward English, like things with words and stuff like that.
8:02
SPEAKER_02: I hated math.
8:03
SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, I hated math too.
8:05
SPEAKER_00: You really math.
8:06
SPEAKER_00: I loved it.
8:06
SPEAKER_02: Were you mathematical growing up?
8:08
SPEAKER_00: No.
8:08
SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I I think I got up to um fractions, but I loved it.
8:12
SPEAKER_03: Really with vague.
8:13
SPEAKER_00: Trigon trigonometry?
8:15
SPEAKER_00: What's that?
8:16
SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
8:17
SPEAKER_00: Your dad is a math guy, right?
8:18
SPEAKER_00: He is.
8:19
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, totally.
8:20
SPEAKER_00: I think uh a lot of our a lot of my our kids, my kids, are uh into math and stuff.
8:25
SPEAKER_00: I I enjoy it.
8:26
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
8:27
SPEAKER_03: I saw exams in schools, it's nothing to do with your intelligence, it's just how good your memory was.
8:32
SPEAKER_03: You cram before and spat it out on a page.
8:34
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's that.
8:35
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
8:36
SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of problems with that.
8:37
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think IQ is more solving, you know, things.
8:40
SPEAKER_02: It's not knowledge, it's not knowledge per se or memory.
8:43
SPEAKER_02: It's yeah, how do you think through this?
8:45
SPEAKER_02: So give you like number patterns, and you have to figure out like what's the pattern or what number comes next based on the pattern, you know, stuff like that.
8:51
SPEAKER_03: One, two, three, four.
8:55
SPEAKER_02: Seriously, I wonder how Elon Musk, can you imagine like Elon Musk takes one and he's just like below average?
9:04
SPEAKER_02: But I was watching uh there's this there's this uh prodigy, I think he's 15, he just got his PhD in in uh physics.
9:14
SPEAKER_02: And they were talking about how his as a kid he would just be like, what's wrong with everybody?
9:18
SPEAKER_02: They're so slow, they you know.
9:19
SPEAKER_02: So you think about like the kind of just that level of you guys won't understand.
9:26
SPEAKER_00: What are you trying to say?
9:27
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
9:27
SPEAKER_03: No, well seriously, what would you do with your life if you found that you were a genius?
9:32
SPEAKER_03: I'd work at Living Waters.
9:33
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think so too.
9:34
SPEAKER_03: Good work, man.
9:36
SPEAKER_03: Just serve the Lord.
9:38
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'd build uh the world's biggest electrical car company for probably become a billionaire.
9:45
SPEAKER_02: All right, it's time for a cool classy comment.
9:47
SPEAKER_02: This is from Emmanuel Luzginov.
9:49
SPEAKER_02: Luzginov.
9:51
SPEAKER_02: Hello, friends.
9:52
SPEAKER_02: Uh, the last episode, the power of meditating and memorizing scripture, really convicted and encouraged me.
9:57
SPEAKER_02: And I've been thinking about being more intentional with scripture memory.
10:01
SPEAKER_02: I made a group on the Bible memory app with raised top evangelism verses to start, and I'll add more sets by topic.
10:08
SPEAKER_02: How cool! I think on the last podcast we did, I called it Scripture Memory App.
10:12
SPEAKER_02: It used to be called Scripture Typer, so I get mixed up.
10:14
SPEAKER_02: It's Bible Memory App for the record.
10:17
SPEAKER_02: And um you can remember it.
10:19
SPEAKER_02: I could not remember.
10:20
SPEAKER_02: But how cool, you know.
10:21
SPEAKER_02: Uh the last uh encouraging letter I read, someone started giving out gospel tracks because they heard us talk about it, and now people are memorizing scripture.
10:30
SPEAKER_02: So that's why we do this.
10:32
SPEAKER_02: So thank you, friend, very much.
10:34
SPEAKER_02: All right, shout out the Living Waters podcast, number three in Austria.
10:39
SPEAKER_02: Oh, nice number three in Trinidad and Tobago.
10:42
SPEAKER_02: So praise the Lord.

10:59
SPEAKER_03: Oh, this we made that joke when we went to Austria.
11:02
SPEAKER_03: I said, yeah, no, no, not Australia.
11:04
SPEAKER_03: Austria.
11:05
SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's right.
11:05

11:15
SPEAKER_02: We're one of the top in the US, but not good enough.
11:17
SPEAKER_01: Because it's English, you know, saying get better.
11:19
SPEAKER_01: And now a radically revolutionary resource.
11:21
SPEAKER_01: This podcast is my team.
11:23
SPEAKER_01: The Ten Commandments.
11:25
SPEAKER_02: Scroll pen.
11:26
SPEAKER_02: Oh, scroll pen.
11:27
SPEAKER_02: Scroll pen.
11:28
SPEAKER_02: One of my absolute favorites.
11:30
SPEAKER_02: Good for graffiti.
11:32
SPEAKER_02: How did we get did we get that idea because we got a promotional thing?
11:36
SPEAKER_03: Oh, yes, we did.
11:37
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you're right.
11:40
SPEAKER_01: Wait, that's how you got the four question.
11:42
SPEAKER_01: Is that how you got the four question survey?
11:46
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
11:46
SPEAKER_03: It was through the Yeah, it was a little, yeah, free little booklet came from the butterfly.
11:51
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, butterfly, that was wonderful.
11:52
SPEAKER_03: Oh man.
11:53
SPEAKER_03: We scared the living daylights out of the uh Satanist.
11:56
SPEAKER_03: Remember that?
11:57
SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, Jack Melbrand.
11:59
SPEAKER_03: We interviewed him and sent him on his way with an honorarium and a butterfly in the same envelope.
12:04
SPEAKER_03: And he said he just about drove off the freeway.
12:06
SPEAKER_00: Well, explain what that is, right?
12:07
SPEAKER_00: It's a butterfly.
12:08
SPEAKER_03: It's a little uh butterfly with a rubber band around it, and you wind it up, wind the wings up, put it in a book, and when the book opens, it flies out and scares the living day.
12:17
SPEAKER_02: But we had to stop because Peter was really upset.
12:20
SPEAKER_02: Even fake butterflies.
12:22
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
12:23
SPEAKER_02: Dr.
12:23
SPEAKER_02: Laura, you know that story.
12:24
SPEAKER_02: D-R-L-A-U-R-A.
12:26
SPEAKER_02: Do you remember her?
12:27
SPEAKER_03: 20 Million Listeners?
12:28
SPEAKER_03: I sent her 101 Things Husbands Do to Annoy Their Wives, and I put the butterfly in it, and her secretary called up and said, Dr.
12:36
SPEAKER_03: Laura got your book, and she's in the hospital right now.
12:39
SPEAKER_03: That butterfly hit her in the eye.
12:41
SPEAKER_03: I'm not kidding.
12:42
SPEAKER_02: Well, she was joking.
12:43
SPEAKER_03: She was joking.
12:44
SPEAKER_03: They said, We love the book and we'd love to promote it.
12:46
SPEAKER_03: And then they read the gospel message in it and changed their mind.
12:49
SPEAKER_03: She's Jewish.
12:50
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
12:51
SPEAKER_01: That's right.
12:52
SPEAKER_01: All right, for now a radically revolutionary resource.
12:55
SPEAKER_01: This podcast.
12:56
SPEAKER_01: Wait, I did that already.
12:59
SPEAKER_03: Notice we didn't say anything.
13:02
SPEAKER_03: It's just like all an idea.
13:04
SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
13:05
SPEAKER_03: Haven't we done this program before?
13:06
SPEAKER_01: Don't forget the Ten Commandments Scroll Pen, Living Waters mug, having a study Bible, Living Waters TV.
13:11
SPEAKER_03: Shouldn't you mention the uh Ten Commandments scroll pen?
13:15
SPEAKER_03: I did.
13:15
SPEAKER_03: No, wait, did I say?
13:16
SPEAKER_01: Is that what I said?
13:19
SPEAKER_02: Low IQ.
13:20
SPEAKER_01: Low I do thus.
13:22
SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, and don't forget the Living Waters TV, all of it, Living Waters.

13:34
SPEAKER_02: Help make it millions, please.
13:36
SPEAKER_02: All right.
13:37
SPEAKER_02: Today, why young men are flocking to secular influencers?
13:42
SPEAKER_02: You already said that.
13:45
SPEAKER_02: Oh no, it's gonna be one of those shows.
13:47
SPEAKER_02: I know it is instead of the church.
13:50
SPEAKER_02: Guys, this is palpable, actually.
13:53
SPEAKER_02: You know, sometimes palpable.
13:54
SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, you guys like you, um, palpable.
13:59
SPEAKER_02: You know, sometimes you hear about things that are trending or things that are happening.
14:03
SPEAKER_02: You're like, oh really?
14:04
SPEAKER_02: I haven't heard about that.
14:05
SPEAKER_02: But this is like one of those where it's felt.
14:07
SPEAKER_02: That's what palpable means.
14:08
SPEAKER_02: Like it's tangible.
14:09
SPEAKER_02: You taste it?
14:10
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
14:10
SPEAKER_02: I thought palpable was a thing in orange juice.
14:13
SPEAKER_02: Palpable.
14:15
SPEAKER_02: But you you you definitely you can feel it.
14:18
SPEAKER_02: It's very evident that this is happening, right?
14:21
SPEAKER_02: You look at guys like Andrew Tate, you look at guys like um Jordan Peterson.
14:26
SPEAKER_02: Jordan Peterson, you know, others that that are that are coming up, uh Nick Fuentes, right?
14:33
SPEAKER_02: Nick Fuentes?
14:35
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
14:37
SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know, others like that.
14:39
SPEAKER_02: Uh you you have positive guys, right?
14:41
SPEAKER_02: That we could say, maybe like our brother Charlie Kirk, you know, who's having a positive influence for the gospel.
14:46
SPEAKER_02: But there are a lot of more secular guys that are just having an influence or having an impact, and they're rising, and young men are flocking to them like crazy.
14:57
SPEAKER_03: You gotta say of Jordan Pennison past tense, he's almost gone.
15:01
SPEAKER_02: Is he still ill?
15:02
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, oh again.
15:03
SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
15:04
SPEAKER_06: Because he got better for a little bit.
15:05
SPEAKER_03: He got very sick a few years ago, and that broke his spirit.
15:08
SPEAKER_03: You could feel it.
15:09
SPEAKER_03: He would just weep, you know, when he was talking.
15:11
SPEAKER_03: Very, very compassionate guy.
15:13
SPEAKER_03: I absolutely loved him.
15:14
SPEAKER_03: But he got septic sepsis recently and pneumonia and uh in uh intensive care for over a month, and we don't even know what's happened to him.
15:24
SPEAKER_03: And he's got nerve damage that's very serious as well.
15:26
SPEAKER_02: I saw his uh daughter talk about him.
15:29
SPEAKER_02: That was about six weeks ago.
15:31
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and man, uh obviously she's so broken up.
15:34
SPEAKER_02: And I do want to say, like, I would not categorize Jordan Peterson with like Andrew Tate.
15:39
SPEAKER_02: Like Andrew Tate has has a toxicity to him.
15:42
SPEAKER_02: Jordan Peterson, I think, you know, he he he feels like a kind of a humanitarian kind of guy.
15:47
SPEAKER_02: He cares about people, but nonetheless, right?
15:50
SPEAKER_02: I mean, as far as we knew, he he hadn't come to Christ and he was he was kind of vague about it more recently, where it's like he was almost put in a corner and maybe he had made a profession, didn't want to say, but yeah, I I like what you're saying there because I absolutely love Jordan Peterson.
16:05
SPEAKER_03: I pray for still pray for him every night, have done for a long time.
16:08
SPEAKER_03: Used to listen to him, but he is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
16:11
SPEAKER_03: You have the wolf that shows its teeth and foams at the mouth, and then you have the wolf that dresses as your grandma.
16:18
SPEAKER_03: Wow.
16:18
SPEAKER_03: Anyone that takes you away from Christ and the truth of Scripture is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
16:23
SPEAKER_03: And the sheep's clothing, it was just nice sheep's clothing.
16:25
SPEAKER_03: I just love the guy, so gentle of spirit, but it's very subtle that literally millions follow him and believe every word that he's saying, and that's the philosophy of this world.
16:35
SPEAKER_03: And it's poisonous when it comes to the gospel.
16:37
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and and that we have to be careful of that, right?
16:40
SPEAKER_02: Because again, um we can admire and respect things about certain people, but we have to be careful to understand that if someone is lost and doesn't know the Lord, they're lost.
16:54
SPEAKER_02: Yeah and they don't know the Lord.
16:56
SPEAKER_02: So they're gonna speak from earthly wisdom.
16:57
SPEAKER_02: And at the end, where does it lead?
16:59
SPEAKER_02: You know, and it was a lot of taking of and that's what kind of uh confused people because he he did a lot on scripture, yeah, but it was all allegory, it was all analogy, it was all, you know, how can it give us something to understand as a as a model for life versus like, no, this is the living word of God.
17:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you could be the most conservative person in the world, but without Christ, you'll be the most conservative person in hell.
17:23
SPEAKER_00: Right?
17:24
SPEAKER_00: So we need to be we need to be careful with that and who we listen to, why we listen to, who we're listening to.
17:31
SPEAKER_00: I I came across a quote several years ago, probably 35 years ago, and it was what will a hungry man eat if he's hungry enough?
17:39
SPEAKER_00: And and the answer is anything.
17:41
SPEAKER_00: If he's hungry enough, he will eat anything.
17:45
SPEAKER_00: That's why the the best seasoning is hunger.
17:48
SPEAKER_00: So if if you're if you're hungry, it it doesn't matter how bland that thing is, you're gonna feast at that table.
17:56
SPEAKER_00: So when we start talking about young men that are flocking towards the the Tates and the the Rogans and uh other people, well, what is going on?
18:05
SPEAKER_00: There's a hunger that's going on, and we've been designed with that hunger.
18:09
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right.
18:09
SPEAKER_00: I think that within our DNA that we have been designed to behold God.
18:14
SPEAKER_00: God is designed what's the problem here?
18:17
SPEAKER_00: We substitute that.
18:18
SPEAKER_00: This is what the modern church does.
18:20
SPEAKER_00: We say you have a God-shaped hole, a vacuum that only God can fill.
18:25
SPEAKER_00: And so they respond in that experimental fashion, and then they try to see if that claim is true and they get disillusioned, right?
18:33
SPEAKER_00: So, but it still stands.
18:35
SPEAKER_00: It still stands that you've been designed with a vacuum to know God.
18:43
SPEAKER_00: This is why when we go to the Grand Canyon and we stand in awe as we are on that precipice looking over and we're just going, wow, or Niagara Falls, we go, wow, or we go to Mount Rushmore, we go, wow, or Yosemite, we go, wow, why?
18:55
SPEAKER_00: Because we are beholding something greater than ourselves.
18:59
SPEAKER_00: I remember during COVID going on this binge watching of Ben Shapiro as I was trying to study out the pro-life movement.
19:08
SPEAKER_00: And I was listening to his answers.
19:09
SPEAKER_00: I had written out all the questions that were asked to him that I could find on the internet.
19:14
SPEAKER_00: And then I was writing out all of his answers to all the questions, and they were the same answers that he was giving.
19:21
SPEAKER_00: Over in Harvard, it would be Oxford, it would be on the university campus, it would be on his podcast, the same exact thing.
19:26
SPEAKER_00: And you realize though these guys can talk really, really fast, they're just regurgitating things that they have studied, that they have memorized.
19:35
SPEAKER_00: But in reality, there was no real substance to what they're saying.
19:39
SPEAKER_00: It's like things are more now than they've ever been.
19:42
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
19:43
SPEAKER_03: Things are are more now than they were and they ever were before.
19:46
SPEAKER_00: And what what Ray just did was he didn't say anything of substance whatsoever.
19:50
SPEAKER_00: And that was totally different than what I normally say.
19:52
SPEAKER_00: Which is intelligence.
19:54
SPEAKER_00: Intelligence, something intelligent.
19:55
SPEAKER_00: But when Ray would say that in chart in churches, he would get people that were nodding, people that go, Amen.
20:02
SPEAKER_00: Say it again.
20:02
SPEAKER_00: It makes no sense.
20:03
SPEAKER_03: Things are more like they are now than they ever were before.
20:06
SPEAKER_03: It was a guy experimenting, I remember hearing that with a congregation, say and getting everyone to amen it, and then they did, and he said that was a meaningless statement.
20:16
SPEAKER_03: What are you talking about?
20:17
SPEAKER_03: And it's like where people call out hallelujah.
20:19
SPEAKER_03: So I've had actually had this happen.
20:21
SPEAKER_03: People are going to hell.
20:23
SPEAKER_03: Hallelujah.
20:25
SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
20:27
SPEAKER_02: Bad timing.
20:28
SPEAKER_02: Remember our friend in New Zealand, right?
20:29
SPEAKER_02: Pass the bottom.
20:30
SPEAKER_02: How would he say it?
20:31
SPEAKER_02: Oh, hallelujah.
20:32
SPEAKER_02: Hallelujah.
20:33
SPEAKER_02: Hallelujah.
20:34
SPEAKER_02: You had to hear that in person.
20:35
SPEAKER_02: Sorry, Mark.
20:36
SPEAKER_02: You were saying something profound.
20:37
SPEAKER_00: No, I'm just saying that our ears have been designed to listen, right?
20:41
SPEAKER_00: We've been designed to hear.
20:43
SPEAKER_00: And if you're not speaking into the void of that young man, somebody is.
20:49
SPEAKER_00: If you're not teaching your kids, your next door neighbor is.
20:51
SPEAKER_00: I remember when my neck when my kids came to us and they had said a bad word, and I looked at them, I said, Hey, so where did you learn that?
20:57
SPEAKER_03: What was it?
20:58
SPEAKER_00: Um you have to ask easy.
21:01
SPEAKER_00: And uh I said, Where did you learn that word?
21:03
SPEAKER_00: And And they knew that something was one of my kids knew that it was really bad and kept saying it until I had to tell them to physically stop, right?
21:12
SPEAKER_00: And he was, I don't know, probably six, seven years old.
21:17
SPEAKER_00: I said that um so-and-so, the neighbor had taught us that.
21:20
SPEAKER_00: And there's a point there.
21:21
SPEAKER_00: If you're not discipling your kids, somebody is discipling.
21:25
SPEAKER_00: If you're not being discipled, in reality you really are.
21:29
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, go back to listening to our podcast from uh a couple days ago or last week, right?
21:34
SPEAKER_00: With their smartphones.
21:35
SPEAKER_00: There are people and things that are vying for your time.
21:38
SPEAKER_00: And if you're not listening to the sweet voices of Christ found inside the word of God, well then the sirens will dash you up against the rocks with their waves and they will swoo you away with their sweet voices that will not make any sense.
21:52
SPEAKER_00: It'll seem to be heady, but there will be no substance to it whatsoever.
21:56
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
21:57
SPEAKER_02: And Mark, you know, you talked about that seasoning uh and and that hunger.
22:03
SPEAKER_02: But what's making these young people hungry, these young men specifically hungry to go after these social influencers instead of the church?
22:11
SPEAKER_02: And I'm talking about even young men growing up in the church.
22:13
SPEAKER_02: Well, I think first of all, we've seen what's happened to the attack on men.
22:19
SPEAKER_02: You know, I think our friend Owen Strand, The War on Men, right?
22:23
SPEAKER_02: He wrote a book on that.
22:23
SPEAKER_02: And there is, right?
22:24
SPEAKER_02: I mean, and and we've been seeing this for decades, and you see it in the world's marketplace through its bully pulpit, through movies and TV programs and commercials and advertisements and whatnot.
22:39
SPEAKER_02: Men are always denigrated.
22:40
SPEAKER_02: It's the Homer Simpson syndrome.
22:42
SPEAKER_02: You know, dad is a big buffoon, he's a town idiot, you know, kids rolling their eyes at dad, men, you know, and and so I think men are starting to look and say, whoa, they're like waking up, and then you have these voices that come in and they're speaking with authority, and they're touching on things that are resonating with men.
23:02
SPEAKER_02: Like, no, God's made you to be masculine, you know, but they won't come at it from that standpoint.
23:06
SPEAKER_02: But hey, you're a man, you're designed this way, and it's your nature, and you're and so it's like, whoa, wait a minute, you have purpose and you've got so I think a big part of it though is not just that these voices are rising up, but the the voice of the church is being muffled and it's self-muffled.
23:23
SPEAKER_02: You know, we're not recognizing that discipleship happens through intentionality, it's not by default.
23:30
SPEAKER_02: We are to make disciples of men and pour into them and influence them in that way.
23:35
SPEAKER_02: Good.
23:35
SPEAKER_02: So, yeah.
23:36
SPEAKER_02: What do you type in, Oscar?
23:38
SPEAKER_06: I'm trying to remember a quote, so continue.
23:41
SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
23:41
SPEAKER_06: I just read it this morning too.
23:43
SPEAKER_03: My my thought is if anyone's attracted anybody, the prof could you say it again, anyone who's any professing Christians who is attracted to this world hasn't seen the riches that we have in Christ.
23:57
SPEAKER_03: And we have we've often said, even on this podcast, a number of times, a truck could come up here with a load of diamonds, and you're starting to yawn easy.
24:06
SPEAKER_03: I saw it, it was a disguised yawn.
24:10
SPEAKER_03: And load it in front of us and say, You turn your back on Christ, you have all these diamonds.
24:14
SPEAKER_03: We'd say, get out of here.
24:16
SPEAKER_03: Wouldn't even think of it.
24:17
SPEAKER_03: Where should we go, Lord?
24:18
SPEAKER_03: You alone have the words of eternal life.
24:21
SPEAKER_03: And that sums it up.
24:22
SPEAKER_03: He has the words of eternal life.
24:25
SPEAKER_03: I was doing an interview this morning, and the host said she was going through a terrible time for this last month.
24:30
SPEAKER_03: And she said, What is it?
24:31
SPEAKER_03: And I just can't get God to answer my prayers.
24:34
SPEAKER_03: And I just said, This is the way it is.
24:38
SPEAKER_03: He alone has the words of eternal life.
24:40
SPEAKER_03: We've got no choice.
24:41
SPEAKER_03: What do we do?
24:42
SPEAKER_03: You know, if we're by the Red Sea, we try stand still and see the salvation of God.
24:46
SPEAKER_03: If we're at the in the lion's den, wait and get God to stop the mouths.
24:50
SPEAKER_03: But in the meantime, there's nowhere else to go.
24:52
SPEAKER_03: You know?
24:53
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, once you've once you've tasted of Christ, you recognize the vanities of the world.
24:59
SPEAKER_02: I I was just thinking back recently on my conversion and just how radical it is.
25:05
SPEAKER_02: Because you know, you you get into all these arguments and and evidentialism and approving these things and other things and prophecy, and and that's wonderful, that's great, right?
25:16
SPEAKER_02: But man, I I was thinking that to myself, how I could never argue with my conversion.
25:21
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was revolutionary.
25:25
SPEAKER_02: And and the Spirit of God bears witness with my heart that I'm a child of God.
25:29
SPEAKER_02: Like you and that testimony relived again and again.
25:33
SPEAKER_02: Again, that's not that's not the foundation for you know our salvation in terms of like, hey, you know, this internal subjective thing, but it's a part of the reality of what happened to us.
25:44
SPEAKER_02: We were regenerated, turned into new creations.
25:47
SPEAKER_02: And I was thinking about that because it wasn't like I learned this program, and oh, here's what you do.
25:52
SPEAKER_02: No, it was I went to an event, I heard a guy talk for 30, 40 minutes, and I was changed everything.
26:00
SPEAKER_02: The way I walked, talked, acted, thought, felt my whole life.
26:04
SPEAKER_02: Here I am 34 years later, and the the the surge of passion and joy for the Lord is still alive.
26:10
SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, that's what happens when you encounter Christ.
26:13
SPEAKER_02: And that's why people would laugh at me, like, wait, you gave up your rap career, your producers produced, you know, top artists in the industry, you're 15, you had your artist producer contract signing.
26:22
SPEAKER_02: What?
26:23
SPEAKER_02: Are you crazy?
26:24
SPEAKER_02: It was like, it wasn't even a thought.
26:26
SPEAKER_02: It was like, yep, I'm done.
26:28
SPEAKER_00: That's so weird to think about, right?
26:29
SPEAKER_00: 40 minutes of a conversation, and you are having an uh such a shift of life and pursuits.
26:37
SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's job shifts, right?
26:39
SPEAKER_00: There, there's let me give back money, let me confess things that I would never confess.
26:43
SPEAKER_00: All because you heard a conversation that was 35, 40 minutes long, that is mind-boggling.
26:50
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
26:51
SPEAKER_02: And and and think of the ramifications, the generations, you know, we just did family pictures.
26:56
SPEAKER_02: I'm sitting there with my kids, my grandkids.
26:58
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
26:59
SPEAKER_02: And you're thinking, like, that one moment in time that I when I confess Christ as my Lord, like changed.
27:05
SPEAKER_02: And then you think of the impact through the ministry and you know, how what God is doing, how he's using us.
27:10
SPEAKER_02: And it just At least one person has been impacted.
27:13
SPEAKER_02: Not that many.
27:14
SPEAKER_03: No, I send you a dumb text.
27:16
SPEAKER_03: I don't know if it was this morning or last night.
27:18
SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, with the boxes about Yeah, I just took a picture of all the boxes going out and says, just had a revelation that we're telling people how to find everlasting life.
27:26
SPEAKER_03: We will just get through to my dull skull.
27:29
SPEAKER_03: That's awesome.
27:30
SPEAKER_03: Because it it it we just have no idea of what we have in Christ.
27:34
SPEAKER_03: Everlasting life, treasure and earthen vessels.
27:36
SPEAKER_02: I know.
27:36
SPEAKER_02: In the last, you know, last couple days, we've had a thousand orders come in, you know, and it's like, whoa.
27:43
SPEAKER_03: I I love that three words Jesus said.
27:46
SPEAKER_03: Remember Lot's wife.
27:47
SPEAKER_03: I can't didn't even know what she looked like.
27:49
SPEAKER_03: I can remember what Lot's wife.
27:54
SPEAKER_03: But think of what she did.
27:55
SPEAKER_03: She looked back.
27:56
SPEAKER_03: And the Bible says if you put your hand on the player and even look back, you're not fit for the kingdom because you don't realize what you have in Christ.
28:05
SPEAKER_06: For who?
28:06
SPEAKER_06: Moisturizer.
28:07
SPEAKER_06: Moisturizer.
28:07
SPEAKER_06: Uh you know, I think a big problem is, uh and it's so funny.
28:11
SPEAKER_06: I was just this morning reading uh Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frinkel.
28:16
SPEAKER_06: And something that you said, Mark, kind of connected some dots for me, which is I think so much of the issue today is that we lack meaning and purpose in this life.
28:25
SPEAKER_06: And so if you think about for most of human histories, you grew up recognizing the most important thing about you was something greater than you, a god, a nation, whatever it is.
28:37
SPEAKER_06: And it was Charles Taylor, the Canadian philosopher, who predicted that secular secularism would not be marked with less religion, but with a deteriorating view of self and religion.
28:50
SPEAKER_06: So we would go from seeing ourselves in light of the story of God, creation, nation to seeing ourselves in light of local things like politics and sexuality, and ultimately we would lose a sense of meaning and purpose.
29:05
SPEAKER_06: And I think so so much of what's happening is that men do not have the sense of purpose that they are meant to have.
29:15
SPEAKER_06: And so they're seeking these false sense of alternatives.
29:19
SPEAKER_06: And the quote that I read this morning that I was like sitting here trying to find was this is that uh um Victor Frankel says that essentially with a with a meaning vacuum, he said, instead, he that is man wishes to do, here's what will happen.
29:37
SPEAKER_06: He says, Men will wish to do what other people want them to do, that's conformism, or he'll do what other people wish him to do, that's totalitarianism.
29:48
SPEAKER_06: And so, in other words, what's happening is that because we have this meaning vacuum in our lives, we are looking to other people.
29:55
SPEAKER_06: We would think, no, we look within ourselves, but you there's no possible way for you to look for meaning inside of yourselves.
30:01
SPEAKER_06: You will always find it in the context of the relationships, community, or tribes that you find yourselves in.
30:08
SPEAKER_06: And so they look to these men for meaning and purpose.
30:11
SPEAKER_06: And so many of these guys, like you pointed out, they're being told that any form of masculinity is toxic.
30:17
SPEAKER_06: They're being told there's no difference between men and men, men and women.
30:21
SPEAKER_06: When God created us to be men, and I think what these social media influences are doing is they're tapping in, they're touching on something that is true.
30:32
SPEAKER_06: God ordained.
30:34
SPEAKER_06: You are a man and you were made for something.
30:38
SPEAKER_06: You were made for God's purpose to glorify him and enjoy him forever, and you were made for a specific purpose in this day and age, but you are losing that.
30:47
SPEAKER_06: You're not living that thing out.
30:48
SPEAKER_06: And so they're kind of settling for less than, right?
30:52
SPEAKER_06: They have the longing, the longing of their heart is there, but they're turning to pagan poets who are touching only briefly on the truths of God.
31:03
SPEAKER_06: And what we have, not we, but like the scripture, what we have is the truth of the purpose that they're actually looking for.
31:11
SPEAKER_06: And I love this because I was reading somewhere else about masculinity and this push on toxicity.
31:16
SPEAKER_06: And uh, this person pointed out if you look at, and I'm gonna mess up the numbers because I didn't have this prepared, but if you look at um what was the ship that got hit by the iceberg?
31:27
SPEAKER_06: The Titanic.
31:28
SPEAKER_06: He said, if you look at the Titanic.
31:29
SPEAKER_06: That was a big memory loss.
31:31
SPEAKER_06: My bad.
31:31
SPEAKER_00: Your IQ is really sick.
31:33
SPEAKER_06: It is, apparently.
31:36
SPEAKER_06: If you look at the Titanic, what you will see is that like something like 90% of the people that perished were men.
31:45
SPEAKER_06: And something like 80% of the people that lived were women and children.
31:50
SPEAKER_06: And he pointed out that is biblical masculinity at its finest, showing that we put others before ourselves just like our Savior put us before himself.
32:02
SPEAKER_06: And so ultimately, the masculinity that men are longing for is a masculinity found in Christ.
32:08
SPEAKER_02: You know, it's interesting, Oscar.
32:09
SPEAKER_02: I was I was at the gym, I was uh in the sauna, and uh and I watched a dynamic happen, and and I assumed that that this could be what it was, but it was pretty, you know, a number of people in there, it's a big sauna.
32:24
SPEAKER_02: And there were people sitting down, and then someone, some a guy got up and walked out, and then there was a guy who a lot of people were standing, you know, standing room only.
32:33
SPEAKER_02: So one guy looks at a woman who was in there and he goes, Would you know would you like to sit down?
32:38
SPEAKER_02: And she goes, No, thank you.
32:40
SPEAKER_02: But then he turns to a guy and he says, Would you like to sit down?
32:44
SPEAKER_02: And I thought to myself, I wonder if he did that not to seem like you know, this, you know, women are weak and they need to sit down and so we need to let them versus, you know, like in generations past, like you're talking about the Titanic.
32:58
SPEAKER_02: It's not about it's just there, there's there's an etiquette behind it in that women aren't they're they're not inferior, but scripture says they're the weaker vessel in a sense.
33:08
SPEAKER_02: So we show them greater honor, respect, you know.
33:11
SPEAKER_02: But it's interesting how things shift to where now you'll be in a place and men won't even stand up and give women their seat, typically, you know.
33:18
SPEAKER_02: And so it has effect and impact for sure.
33:21
SPEAKER_02: I'm scared of getting beaten up.
33:23
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
33:24
SPEAKER_02: But Oscar, I'd love to see you get beat up, right?
33:29
SPEAKER_02: Mike Tyson's sister.
33:31
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Sue beats me up every morning.
33:32
SPEAKER_02: Ah, she gets up at 5:45.
33:35
SPEAKER_02: That's exactly.
33:39
SPEAKER_03: So what do we do?
33:40
SPEAKER_03: How do we reach this whole generation?
33:42
SPEAKER_03: Do we become more philosophical than Jordan Peterson and talk in that vein to get their attention?
33:48
SPEAKER_03: Well, the answer's the gospel.
33:50
SPEAKER_03: And I was just reading about uh Anglican ministers that are around at the time of George Whitfield and how they were almost, how can I put it, there's something sort of wishy-washy about Anglican ministers.
34:02
SPEAKER_03: Stuffy is the word that was used while I was reading.
34:04
SPEAKER_03: That that's the stuff they seek for an Anglican minister.
34:07
SPEAKER_03: He's just stuffing off right, you shouldn't.
34:09
SPEAKER_03: They used to mock Whitfield because he wept while he was preaching.
34:13
SPEAKER_03: They said sometimes, one quote is when he's it's like he's just lost, he cannot bring himself back to control because he's so overwhelmed.
34:21
SPEAKER_03: And Whitfield addressed it by saying this, you blame me for weeping, but how can I help it when you're not weep for yourselves, though your own immortal souls are on the verge of the verge of destruction?
34:31
SPEAKER_03: And we tend to forget about hell.
34:33
SPEAKER_03: It's something I try and meditate on as much as I can, and that's why our prayers and preaching are tearless.
34:39
SPEAKER_03: Because we've forgotten about hell.
34:41
SPEAKER_03: Oh my friends said Oswald J.
34:43
SPEAKER_03: Smith, we touched on this the other day.
34:44
SPEAKER_03: Oh my friends, we're loaded down with countless church activities, while the real work of the church, that of evangelizing and winning the lost, is almost entirely neglected.
34:54
SPEAKER_03: And the fields, Jesus said, are white to the harvest.
34:56
SPEAKER_03: All these people that are flocking to Penison and all these other guys to listen to them, they're ready for the gospel.
35:02
SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
35:02
SPEAKER_03: But just the laborers are few.
35:04
SPEAKER_03: And almost daily, for many years, I've tried I've cried out, Lord, raise up laborers.
35:09
SPEAKER_03: Because we've been told to pray that.
35:11
SPEAKER_03: You know, pray the Lord of the harvest that he'll raise up laborers.
35:14
SPEAKER_03: And we tend not to pray to God to raise up laborers if we're not a laborer ourselves, because that condemns us in our conscience.
35:21
SPEAKER_03: I'm not laboring, how can I pray for laborers?
35:23
SPEAKER_03: So the church needs to, we need to um electrify the pews.
35:28
SPEAKER_06: I'm so glad you said that because I think so many churches today are settling for cultural converts because it's filling their pews.
35:36
SPEAKER_06: And what I mean by that is what's interesting is um for the first time in decades, young men are leading new membership, new attendance at churches.
35:46
SPEAKER_06: But somebody pointed out that a lot of these young men, they're they're they're looking at Jordan Peterson, they're looking at Joe Rogan, talking about starting to attend church out of curiosity.
35:55
SPEAKER_06: Even Richard Dawkins himself said that he is a cultural Christian and that he values its morals and even enjoys hymns.
36:04
SPEAKER_06: And I think a lot of what's happening right now is that culturally Christian, we have cultural converts starting to look for meaning and they're showing up at churches and settling for political agendas rather than gospel transformation.
36:19
SPEAKER_06: And I won't name the name, but I've noticed specifically a pastor around here.
36:24
SPEAKER_06: Uh I started listening to him years ago and I thought he was preaching fantastic, but more and more young people started attending his church, and I've noticed that his sermons have become political hot takes and like pop cultural hot takes rather than entrenched in the word of God, preaching the entirety of the word of God.
36:43
SPEAKER_06: And so I guess the point here is we as church members can't just look out and be excited that conservative young men are attending our church.
36:53
SPEAKER_06: We need to roll up our sleeves and begin to disciple.
36:56
SPEAKER_06: It's not a bad thing, it's a good thing.
36:58
SPEAKER_06: Jesus says, come and see, right?
37:00
SPEAKER_06: Many of his disciples started to started following Jesus because they thought they were gonna gain political power, because they thought that Jesus' agenda was gonna be very different.
37:09
SPEAKER_06: And it wasn't until the other side of the cross that they realized that the kingdom of God was this inverted upside-down kingdom.
37:15
SPEAKER_06: And so, in that same way, let's celebrate the reality that these men are starting to attend our churches, but not settle for cultural conversion.
37:25
SPEAKER_06: We need a disciple and preach the gospel and pray for true spiritual conversion.
37:30
SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
37:30
SPEAKER_02: You know, Mark, we we hear that analogy about the starfish, right?
37:35
SPEAKER_02: There's all these starfish washed up on the shore and you know, so many of them, and someone's throwing one after the other back in, and someone's like, you're not gonna save them all, but it's like, oh, but I just saved this one and this one.
37:46
SPEAKER_02: My thought is, well, if you bring 10,000 people out on that shore, and all of them are hucking starfish back in the ocean, you're gonna do it, you're gonna create a big den.
37:55
SPEAKER_02: And the point in that is is impact, right?
37:58
SPEAKER_02: Like, we forget that we impact people that impact people.
38:04
SPEAKER_02: Right.
38:04
SPEAKER_02: You you think of the circle of friends, like how many people did the people that we know know?
38:09
SPEAKER_02: And so speak to Mark, impacting this young generation of men by living boldly as men of God.
38:17
SPEAKER_00: You know, I was sharing with uh my brother who's not a Christian yesterday.
38:22
SPEAKER_00: I said, you know, I'm I'm ashamed of a motto that I used to have, and I have since repented.
38:28
SPEAKER_00: I've since changed my mind, and it was my friend cart is full, and I'm not accepting any more applications.
38:36
SPEAKER_00: Right?
38:36
SPEAKER_00: I have enough friends, I'm not accepting applications.
38:39
SPEAKER_00: And I what I shared with him was people come inside of our lives, they come and go.
38:45
SPEAKER_00: And we need to be open to that, right?
38:47
SPEAKER_00: That the neighbor across the street you will you have time for because of the proximity of their location.
38:53
SPEAKER_00: And when we think about the people inside of our lives, speak into their lives.
38:58
SPEAKER_00: God has ordained them, directed them, providentially put them in place so that you can talk to them, then it's gonna change everything.
39:08
SPEAKER_00: We think, well, what can one person do?
39:10
SPEAKER_00: What can I do in the life of my friend's son?
39:14
SPEAKER_00: You could ask him how he's doing, and you could say it in such a way that maybe their parent is not able to speak into their life.
39:20
SPEAKER_00: You know, I was sharing with uh my daughter uh this week who said that she's got a friend whose father has ostracized her.
39:29
SPEAKER_00: She decided to move out with her boyfriend.
39:34
SPEAKER_00: She came to her senses and now she's back home with her parents.
39:38
SPEAKER_00: But her dad now wants to have nothing to do with her.
39:40
SPEAKER_00: And I said, invite her over.
39:44
SPEAKER_00: Let her see the structure of the way a family should be, the way a father is supposed to lead.
39:50
SPEAKER_00: In the meantime, I'm gonna try to talk to that father, gonna see what we can do to make that work.
39:54
SPEAKER_00: But when we open ourselves up to talk to the people inside of our lives, I'm telling you, that one person affects another person, which affects it's a domino effect, just because you said hello.
40:05
SPEAKER_00: And I'll share with you yesterday, we have a friend, a mutual friend in the past who was so outgoing.
40:10
SPEAKER_00: Jeff was his name, and everybody loved to be around Jeff.
40:13
SPEAKER_00: And Jeff was the best man at like, I don't know, like a thousand different weddings because he makes it seem as if you are the main character in the conversation.
40:22
SPEAKER_00: He doesn't want to talk about himself, he wants to talk about you.
40:25
SPEAKER_00: What are you up to?
40:26
SPEAKER_00: How can I pray for you?
40:27
SPEAKER_00: And I go, and I told my wife, I go, babe, that's the way I want to be.
40:30
SPEAKER_00: I want to be inside people's lives.
40:32
SPEAKER_00: And when we do that with the younger generations, when we think this person has nothing to give me, guess what?
40:38
SPEAKER_00: That nothing to give you person grows up and they're gonna remember the impact that you had in their life.
40:43
SPEAKER_00: So speak life into that person, redeem that.
40:46
SPEAKER_00: You you know, your child's playing a video game with their friend, come along and just say, Hey, what have you guys been learning?
40:52
SPEAKER_00: What have you been reading?
40:53
SPEAKER_00: Ray used to always say ask me that question when I first started to travel with him.
40:57
SPEAKER_00: Where are you at in the word?
40:58
SPEAKER_00: What have you been reading?
40:59
SPEAKER_00: What have you been learning?
41:00
SPEAKER_00: He no longer does that.
41:01
SPEAKER_00: Why don't you ask me where I've been at in the word?
41:03
SPEAKER_00: Because he stopped reading the Bible.
41:04
SPEAKER_00: What are you doing?
41:05
SPEAKER_03: Anything I can pray for your family?
41:06
SPEAKER_00: My finances are the ability to help.
41:10
SPEAKER_03: Oh, now you've started a big rumor.
41:13
SPEAKER_03: Ray's worth$40 million according to the internet.
41:16
SPEAKER_03: You find me half of it and I'll give it to you legally.
41:18
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
41:19
SPEAKER_00: So, you know, to answer your question, right?
41:20
SPEAKER_00: What do we do?
41:21
SPEAKER_00: Speak life into the kids that are around you, into the adults around you, into the person who's taking your order at the restaurant.
41:27
SPEAKER_00: Speak life into them.
41:29
SPEAKER_00: You know, and I love it.
41:30
SPEAKER_00: You know, uh Oscar does it quite regularly.
41:33
SPEAKER_00: When the waiter takes your order and then asking, hey, we're about ready to pray for our food.
41:37
SPEAKER_00: Do you need prayer for anything?
41:39
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
41:40
SPEAKER_00: Be surprised at people that just sit down and then just open up.
41:42
SPEAKER_00: Tears start flowing sometimes.
41:44
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
41:45
SPEAKER_02: You know, it hit me one day as I was just thinking about younger people.
41:50
SPEAKER_02: You know, often when when we're as adults, we're getting together with families and you know, they have younger children.
41:56
SPEAKER_02: We tend to ignore the kids.
41:58
SPEAKER_02: We we tend to almost act like they're invisible, you know.
42:02
SPEAKER_02: But can you can you imagine how a kid is impacted when an adult really turns their attention toward them and just engages them, jokes with them, does some little sleight-of-hand stuff for them, you know, and just like, how you doing?
42:13
SPEAKER_02: And kids, they they gravitate, they know the people that care.
42:18
SPEAKER_02: And man, the the impact you can have on their lives, just time and again, just ask them little questions or hey, if you ever, you know, if you ever want to talk or anything, I'm here, you know, and it makes a big difference.
42:30
SPEAKER_00: My my kids still talk about adults that were in their lives when my kids were younger who felt like that whole adage, right?
42:38
SPEAKER_00: Kids should be seen and not heard.
42:40
SPEAKER_00: And I had old friends that were like that, you know, leave us alone.
42:44
SPEAKER_00: Hey, the adults are talking.
42:45
SPEAKER_00: Hey, go get me a drink, or whatever it may be.
42:47
SPEAKER_00: My kids remember that, and they do not think fondly of those people to this day.
42:51
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, an example, you know.
42:54
SPEAKER_02: I mean, I remember as a kid having these neighbors when I was growing up, they were Christians.
43:01
SPEAKER_02: We we owned an apartment building that our whole family kind of lived in, and there was a common grass area.
43:07
SPEAKER_02: And I remember uh, you know, everyone would kind of be hanging out outside.
43:10
SPEAKER_02: I remember one time seeing this dad with his son.
43:13
SPEAKER_02: I think he was maybe maybe two and a half or something, and his son, you know, went to to touch something, and it was evident that his dad had told him before not to touch it.
43:21
SPEAKER_02: So he goes to touch it, and his dad, his name, the guy's name was Larry, I'll never forget him.
43:24
SPEAKER_02: And he looked at his son and he began to converse with him in a way that I'd never witnessed.
43:30
SPEAKER_02: Like he was he was talking to him almost like he was a grown-up in a sense.
43:34
SPEAKER_02: And it wasn't so much the tone, it was like kind of the the the sort of context of what he was saying.
43:41
SPEAKER_02: He looked at him and he said, Hey son, he goes, You know daddy loves you, right?
43:44
SPEAKER_02: And he goes, Yeah, daddy.
43:45
SPEAKER_02: He goes, son, you have you have the ability to touch that object, but daddy's telling you not to touch it.
43:51
SPEAKER_02: And I'm telling you that because I love you.
43:52
SPEAKER_02: If you don't touch it, everything's gonna be fine.
43:54
SPEAKER_02: But if you touch it, daddy's gonna have to discipline you, and that's not gonna be best for you.
43:58
SPEAKER_02: He said, But son, you have the ability to make a decision.
44:01
SPEAKER_02: Now, son, go ahead and make your choice.
44:05
SPEAKER_02: There goes a hand.
44:07
SPEAKER_02: But I remember watching this kid look at his dad, look at the object, look at his dad, look at the doctrine, and he walked away.
44:12
SPEAKER_02: I was 10 years old.
44:13
SPEAKER_02: That so impacted me.
44:16
SPEAKER_02: I remember thinking to myself, that's how I want to raise my kids.
44:19
SPEAKER_02: 10 years old.
44:20
SPEAKER_02: And that is how I raised my.
44:22
SPEAKER_02: I did that same thing with my kids.
44:23
SPEAKER_02: In fact, one time we were outside on our street, one of the kids went to touch something, and I did that same thing.
44:30
SPEAKER_02: I remember one of the kids, this kid was sitting on his bike, and I remember he had he looked at me and his jaw like practically hit the ground.
44:36
SPEAKER_02: He's like, I said, Yes, Lord, pass it on, pass it on, you know.
44:40
SPEAKER_00: I was with a pastor inside of a restaurant, and there was a young child with a mother.
44:46
SPEAKER_00: Don't know where the the story of the where the father was at, but the the child was acting up, and the pastor went over and got down on his knees and started speaking life into that child about obeying the mother.
44:58
SPEAKER_00: And the child stopped and stopped what he was doing, and the mother looked over at the pastor and just said, Thank you.
45:04
SPEAKER_00: Wow.
45:05
SPEAKER_00: So it carries over, it crosses over into other people that we don't even know to speak life.
45:10
SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
45:11
SPEAKER_06: That's what discipleship looked like in the early church.
45:14
SPEAKER_06: And I I think it's it is really the answer because it's not like what we're saying here, what we're kind of alluding to here is like, hey, listen, the answer to this is not turn the young men in your life that are listening to Jordan Peterson to the Living Waters podcast, to a pastor.
45:29
SPEAKER_06: Actually, I think what we're saying here is disciple them.
45:32
SPEAKER_06: Come alongside of them.
45:34
SPEAKER_06: And that's what that's exactly what the early church used to do.
45:37
SPEAKER_06: I'm I, you know, I'm just thinking, you guys reminded me just this interaction the other day.
45:42
SPEAKER_06: You know, Tany, your your son and I, we've gotten really close over the last year or two.
45:46
SPEAKER_06: Um, I would say we do life together.
45:48
SPEAKER_06: He's come over for dinner, we hang out, whatever the case.
45:51
SPEAKER_06: And my kids really enjoy him.
45:53
SPEAKER_06: So just the other day, I took Levi to a concert, and Tany happened to be there as well.
45:57
SPEAKER_06: And when the concert was over, we turned the corner, and the second Levi saw Tani, he bolted over to him and gave him a hug.
46:03
SPEAKER_06: And then they were sitting there talking for 15, 20 minutes.
46:05
SPEAKER_06: And I remember thinking to myself, because I know him, that is exactly the kind of man I want in my son's life.
46:12
SPEAKER_06: And that's the beauty of discipleship.
46:15
SPEAKER_06: Um, that it's this mutual exchange of edification, of the glory of God, of fruitfulness bearing out in one another.
46:24
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
46:24
SPEAKER_02: And and look, what was the influence behind Tanny's life?
46:28
SPEAKER_02: Mark.
46:28
SPEAKER_02: And now Tanny's influencing your son.
46:31
SPEAKER_02: That that example, man, is powerful.
46:33
SPEAKER_02: You emulate the people around you.
46:35
SPEAKER_02: You know, you see some of these videos online of these like gangster kids.
46:39
SPEAKER_02: I'm talking like five-year-olds walking around with guns, and you know, yeah, like Ray.
46:44
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
46:45
SPEAKER_02: And and they're, you know, but where did they where did they learn that?
46:49
SPEAKER_02: They're watching the men around them, you know.
46:52
SPEAKER_02: And I think it, you know, Titus too, too, that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, and love and patience.
47:01
SPEAKER_02: You know, that's who we're called to be as men, to influence, you know, the other other men.
47:06
SPEAKER_03: The problem is that many women don't have a man within their household to do the discipline.
47:10
SPEAKER_02: That's a part of the problem.
47:12
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
47:12
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
47:13
SPEAKER_02: That's a big part of the problem.
47:14
SPEAKER_02: Fatherlessness.
47:15
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
47:15
SPEAKER_02: You know, because divorces become so rampant, and young men aren't growing up with dads in their home and modern.
47:22
SPEAKER_03: Well, even divorces aren't that rampant because people aren't even getting married in the first place.
47:27
SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
47:27
SPEAKER_03: So yeah.
47:28
SPEAKER_02: That's worse than what we think.
47:29
SPEAKER_02: But fatherlessness, you know, or where dads are not in their children's lives.
47:34
SPEAKER_02: And you, I mean, you look at certain statistics of certain demographics, and they'll say, Yeah, you guys are saying this, and it's economy, and it's a there, and and leader after leader, they're showing the studies.
47:44
SPEAKER_02: It is fatherlessness.
47:46
SPEAKER_02: That is what's leading to this.
47:47
SPEAKER_00: Now, not just fatherlessness, but fatherlessness, even when the father is home.
47:53
SPEAKER_00: Right?
47:53
SPEAKER_00: Who who have not invested in them, right?
47:56
SPEAKER_00: Think about it, right?
47:57
SPEAKER_00: So we we have this daily grind where fathers are going away to work and they're working eight, 10, 12 hours a day.
48:03
SPEAKER_00: Then they come home and they are exhausted.
48:05
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
48:06
SPEAKER_06: On their phones.
48:07
SPEAKER_00: They're on their phones.
48:08
SPEAKER_00: They're they they want to watch Monday night football, they want to watch Thursday night football.
48:12
SPEAKER_00: They want to watch the Friday night football and CAA football game of the week, right?
48:15
SPEAKER_00: They want to watch women's basketball.
48:17
SPEAKER_00: No, nobody's ever actually ever said that.
48:20
SPEAKER_00: However, but even though they're home, they're not home.
48:24
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
48:24
SPEAKER_00: Because they need a break from the world.
48:26
SPEAKER_00: They need a break from their employer who's been pointing down their backs to meet quotas and everything else.
48:32
SPEAKER_00: So, how do we now?
48:33
SPEAKER_00: This is a question that's leading to this.
48:35
SPEAKER_00: How does that father, who is home, but is fatherless because he's exhausted and he's tired of saying the same thing over and over again, or he's never spoken up before?
48:47
SPEAKER_00: How do they now get back into that kid's life?
48:49
SPEAKER_00: What do they do?
48:50
SPEAKER_00: Do they now do I now go to you easy and I say, easy?
48:54
SPEAKER_00: Listen, you live a mile away from me.
48:56
SPEAKER_00: Can you pour into my kid?
48:57
SPEAKER_00: He's not listening to me.
48:58
SPEAKER_00: What do I what do I do?
48:59
SPEAKER_03: Well, that's the power of the gospel, because this book is the instruction book for looking after your family.
49:05
SPEAKER_03: The the evidence study.
49:06
SPEAKER_03: No, the evidence study.
49:07
SPEAKER_03: The Bible.
49:08
SPEAKER_03: The Bible is the instruction book for a nation.
49:10
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
49:10
SPEAKER_03: And that's what's happened with this world.
49:12
SPEAKER_03: They've turned their back on the instruction book and now.
49:14
SPEAKER_00: So we start with a family devotion, a devo.
49:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
49:17
SPEAKER_00: We open it up.
49:17
SPEAKER_00: Start with repentance.
49:18
SPEAKER_02: Start with repentance.
49:20
SPEAKER_00: Confession to the child.
49:21
SPEAKER_00: Hey, I have dropped the ball in this.
49:22
SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
49:23
SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to be meeting even if I have to just meet alone, right?
49:27
SPEAKER_00: Or if if if it's just mom and I we're going to be meeting, I understand you're 19 years old and you're living at home, and you're welcome to join us, but we're still going to meet.
49:34
SPEAKER_00: And this is what I should have done when you were two years old.
49:37
SPEAKER_02: You know, Mark, there was a someone at our church.
49:39
SPEAKER_02: I'm not going to give names, but there was there was someone at our church years ago when we were pastoring.
49:43
SPEAKER_02: He was a police officer.
49:45
SPEAKER_02: Could you give the initials?
49:46
SPEAKER_02: R.
49:46
SPEAKER_02: C.
49:47
SPEAKER_02: Laranka Barakungsof Lalakiji.
49:49
SPEAKER_02: That's why I didn't want to share the name.
49:51
SPEAKER_02: But he laughed yourself.
49:55
SPEAKER_02: Self-entertainment is the greatest gift.
49:58
SPEAKER_02: But he uh he was a coach, and there was another dad who was helping coach with him, and he invited him to church and shared the gospel with him.
50:06
SPEAKER_02: This guy gets saved.
50:08
SPEAKER_02: And like he, this guy and his wife, total pagans, alcohol the time, no concept of the Lord, whole family shifts, right?
50:16
SPEAKER_02: They they change their whole structure.
50:18
SPEAKER_02: Not that you have to do this, but they started homeschooling their kids.
50:20
SPEAKER_02: And the other day, I'm I'm looking online at some and I come across a podcast, and it's about a really important topic and had really good activity on it.
50:29
SPEAKER_02: And here's this, oh man.
50:33
SPEAKER_03: Uh oh.
50:33
SPEAKER_02: Here's this, here's the son of this guy who got radically saved and changed the direction of his household.
50:40
SPEAKER_02: And he's on this podcast, and he's he's talking about the Lord with such eloquence and such wisdom.
50:47
SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, man, and I'm just connecting the dots.
50:51
SPEAKER_02: Another man came into another man's life, influenced him with godly manliness.
50:58
SPEAKER_02: And that guy then changed the trajectory of his children.
51:00
SPEAKER_02: And here's now his son impacting, you know, thousands of people through the godliness that was invested in him.
51:08
SPEAKER_02: That's what we're talking about, you know?
51:10
SPEAKER_02: And the thing that wakes men up is the realization of the contrary.
51:17
SPEAKER_02: Like, you want to deprive your kids of this and have them end up being deprived of that rich example?
51:24
SPEAKER_02: Like, stop looking at yourself exhausted.
51:27
SPEAKER_02: How many of these guys wake up exhausted after a hangover because they're partying all night, but still go to work because they're seeing the tangible effects?
51:38
SPEAKER_02: Oh, I need that money to live and to keep my house.
51:40
SPEAKER_02: And uh man, connect that to your children, future generations, grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
51:47
SPEAKER_02: You guys have heard all heard that thing about Jonathan Edwards' family, the family tree, and then the this other guy in Edwards' time who was a scoundrel, and how many judges and attorneys and even politicians, and I think there was a president in Edwards' lineage, and this other guy, prostitutes and robbers, and you know, it's like there is impact.
52:09
SPEAKER_02: And so we we need to wake up, you know.
52:12
SPEAKER_02: This is an interesting tidbit I came across.
52:15
SPEAKER_02: You sleeping, right?
52:16
SPEAKER_02: No, yeah, right.
52:17
SPEAKER_02: I didn't care.
52:18
SPEAKER_02: This is an interesting tidbit that uh that I came across about what these secular voices are doing, what they're providing.
52:29
SPEAKER_02: They it's and saying the stuff that they're saying, secular manhood, it defines manhood without God, strength without holiness, courage without repentance, leadership without love.
52:39
SPEAKER_02: It turns women into props, conquests or or threats, um, into con into props, conquests, or threats.
52:47
SPEAKER_02: It inflates ego, not humility, it builds brand, not character, and it produces Pharisees, not disciples.
52:55
SPEAKER_02: It offers behavior change and self-help without a new heart.
52:59
SPEAKER_02: Because Oscar, when you when you were talking earlier about like these answers that are being given, but it's it's the what, but not the why.
53:10
SPEAKER_02: And so it's like, yeah, it gets to a place where people are like, well, but why why can't I do that?
53:16
SPEAKER_02: Or why do I have to be like that?
53:18
SPEAKER_02: Well, I can I can go against my nature.
53:20
SPEAKER_02: You might say that's my nature, but so that's where you get all this stuff that's happening today.
53:24
SPEAKER_02: Why there's transgenderism, why there's homosexuality.
53:28
SPEAKER_02: I can define my own course, but when you go back to the foundation, to the word, to the Lord, you'll know the why.
53:35
SPEAKER_02: And there's authority.
53:36
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
53:37
SPEAKER_02: And then people know.
53:38
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you I listen, daily disciplines are important, but daily discipline is not where you're gonna find purpose, right?
53:45
SPEAKER_06: Like my purpose isn't to get up in the morning and make my bed, though it's really good advice, leadership advice to get up in the morning and the first thing you do is make your bed.
53:54
SPEAKER_06: It my purpose in the morning is not to get up and spend the first 30 minutes of my day outside with sunlight hitting my eyeballs, though, supposedly that's really good for my brain.
54:03
SPEAKER_06: I get it, right?
54:04
SPEAKER_06: My daily purpose or my purpose in life is not to cold plunge, though I understand that it's healthy for me.
54:09
SPEAKER_06: All these things are really good, healthy tools and resources for you to live a more uh effective life.
54:18
SPEAKER_06: But your purpose in life, the reason you were created is so much greater than that, to glorify God and enjoy Him forever, and to recognize, and this is something that I've often heard and repeated, which is to recognize that you were made for the day and the day was made for you.
54:36
SPEAKER_06: That you are not just a cog in a wheel, that you are not just a part of a machine to make this world, this nation, function better, but rather you were made for the day and the day was made for you, and that God might have saved you to put you into his family, to put you on mission, to bring the gospel into the world so that others might get saved.
55:01
SPEAKER_06: Man, I'm telling you now, when you orient your life to the way God means for you to live it, everything begins to come together, even when things aren't going the way you want to.
55:13
SPEAKER_06: That's the kicker about having purpose, is that purpose transcends even suffering, right?
55:21
SPEAKER_06: Like even when life doesn't go the way you want it to go, when you know that you have a sovereign God who loves you and who has died for you on the cross, you will be sustained by who God has made you to be and how he has loved you.
55:37
SPEAKER_02: Right?
55:37
SPEAKER_02: Ray, when you first got saved, you you obviously you came out of the shoot on fire for the Lord, but do you remember like different men that helped shape you as you were growing in your new faith?
55:47
SPEAKER_02: Seriously?
55:48
SPEAKER_02: Oh, really?
55:49
SPEAKER_02: Really?
55:50
SPEAKER_02: Um I'm trying really hard.
55:53
SPEAKER_02: Pastor Denson.
55:54
SPEAKER_02: It was all sheep and goats over there, wasn't it?
55:56
SPEAKER_02: Pastor Dennison?
55:57
SPEAKER_02: He gave you money or something?
55:59
SPEAKER_02: Or something.
56:00
SPEAKER_02: Dennison?
56:01
SPEAKER_03: The guy that uh put his hand in your Oh, George Demson.
56:05
SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, yeah, he yeah, he he did influence me.
56:08
SPEAKER_03: He gave me$10 the first time he met me, and I loved that moment.
56:11
SPEAKER_03: But yeah, he just used to told me old war stories that he had repeated the week before, and I'd I'd I'd count things on the wall to try and uh break the border.
56:21
SPEAKER_03: But he is a sweet guy.
56:23
SPEAKER_03: But no, I think Spurgeon uh influenced me more than anyone else.
56:27
SPEAKER_03: Uh there was a guy that started a Bible study in our home.
56:30
SPEAKER_03: He was great, but uh reading Spurgeon just was the the richness that I I hungered for.
56:37
SPEAKER_03: Wow and uh that that did influence me.
56:39
SPEAKER_03: Was it lectures to my students?
56:40
SPEAKER_03: Was that the lectures to my students?
56:42
SPEAKER_02: I actually get a hold of that, Ray.
56:43
SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's not like Spurgeon was a pop culture Christianity type guy.
56:47
SPEAKER_02: Ray was there when he wrote it.
56:49
SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, that's right.
56:50
SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
56:51
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, it was um it was discovering Hell's best kept secret that made me search search those guys out.
56:57
SPEAKER_03: And when I started seeing the same thing in all of them, I just just loved loved what I was reading.
57:01
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, especially like just I'd I'd like we should make that book available through the ministry.
57:06
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's an amazing book.
57:08
SPEAKER_02: So not not really many men.
57:10
SPEAKER_02: That explains the shallowness.
57:13
SPEAKER_02: The low IQ.
57:15
SPEAKER_02: The low IQ.
57:16
SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, I exhortation.
57:19
SPEAKER_02: I think of how Paul phrases, because here's Paul, and he's talking to Timothy, which, you know, who is a young man.
57:25
SPEAKER_02: That's that's what he's called.
57:28
SPEAKER_02: Um, and and listen to Paul exhorting him to exhort, because that's what's happening.
57:33
SPEAKER_02: Like he's modeling for him what he should be doing.
57:35
SPEAKER_02: Titus 2, 6 through 8.
57:37
SPEAKER_02: Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded in all things, showing yourself to be a pattern of good works in all things, showing yourself to be a pattern of good works in doctrine, showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.
57:58
SPEAKER_02: So he's exhorting him to exhort.
58:01
SPEAKER_02: And and he's telling him, as he you exhort these young men, remind them there to be a pattern of good works, there to be an example.
58:10
SPEAKER_02: You know, and so Paul's looking at Timothy's life, imitate me as I imitate Christ, and he's telling him exhort so that others can be a pattern.
58:17
SPEAKER_02: And and that's that's that's the whole foundation of discipleship.
58:23
SPEAKER_02: That's what we're getting at.
58:24
SPEAKER_02: Right?
58:24
SPEAKER_03: I remember who influenced me more than anyone, and it really was a great interest.
58:28
SPEAKER_03: My guess, A.M.
58:29
SPEAKER_03: Albert Martin.
58:30
SPEAKER_03: Albert Martin.
58:30
SPEAKER_02: Oh, Al Martin, yeah.
58:32
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he was just fabulous.
58:33
SPEAKER_03: Someone, it was actually Graham May, the weightlifter, the the uh gold medal weightlifter that we befriended each other.
58:40
SPEAKER_03: He became came into the square and began preaching with me.
58:43
SPEAKER_03: He had a 53-inch chest.
58:45
SPEAKER_03: I made a leather jacket for him, and he it was like a tent.
58:48
SPEAKER_03: Uh he insisted that I listen to um The Parable of the Sower by Albert Martin, and that blew me away.
58:55
SPEAKER_03: It was just established a foundation that dovetaled dovetailed into um into Hell's Best Kept Secret beautifully.
59:04
SPEAKER_03: And the thing is about Pastor Martin, he was incredibly laborious and repetitive.
59:12
SPEAKER_03: I'm speaking as he used to teach.
59:14
SPEAKER_02: And eloquent.
59:15
SPEAKER_03: And eloquent, and he would go over and over and over a point until you got it.
59:20
SPEAKER_03: And it was good for me because I'm the exact opposite than him, but I'm so pleased I found that foundation so you can still listen to him today at Sermon Audios, our website.
59:30
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
59:30
SPEAKER_02: He was so eloquent and articulate.
59:32
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
59:33
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
59:33
SPEAKER_02: Uh let me close with this quote by John Piper.
59:35
SPEAKER_02: At the heart of mature manhood is a God-given sense that the primary responsibility lies with him when it comes to leadership.
59:45
SPEAKER_02: So may we recognize that we're we're called to lead and uh impact this young generation, beginning with our children and then beyond.
59:54
SPEAKER_02: And so may we do that for God's glory.
59:56
SPEAKER_01: All right, friends, don't forget the ten commandments, scroll pen.
1:00:00
SPEAKER_01: Did I no, I didn't even mention that on this bus.
1:00:03
SPEAKER_01: And don't forget to like, subscribe, and share and podcast at livingwaters.com with your thoughts and questions and insults.
1:00:09
SPEAKER_01: Thank you for joining us, friends.
1:00:11
SPEAKER_01: We'll see you here next time on the Living Waters podcast where we have no idea what we're doing.
1:00:18
SPEAKER_03: What's the name of that big ship that sunk?
