- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here. It's Monday.
- 0:14It's the 27th of April and I hope you're going well.
- 0:19Yesterday was ANZAC. No, it wasn't the day before.
- 0:21Yesterday was Anzac Day. But today in this part of the
- 0:24world, it is the public holiday. So many of us are at home.
- 0:28Instead of being at work and being productive, we get to be
- 0:31relaxing humans. So that's lovely.
- 0:33So I hope your day is looking very good today.
- 0:35We are perhaps going to write ourselves a list and tick things
- 0:39off the list and say, haha, I've conquered my list.
- 0:42Well, today's Bible reading is very similar because this in the
- 0:46book of Joshua is the list of all of the kings that Joshua and
- 0:50the Israelite army managed to conquer as they took possession
- 0:55of this land that God had promised them.
- 0:58So as we read through this long list of kings that were taken
- 1:01out, you can think what are the things that God is conquering in
- 1:05my life? Holy Spirit, come to U.S., Open
- 1:10us up to all that you are doing in our lives and who you are and
- 1:15how you can teach us more about that as we read your words as
- 1:20captured friends in Joshua chapter 12.
- 1:33These are the kings east of the Jordan River who had been killed
- 1:37by the Israelites and whose land was taken.
- 1:40Their territory extended from the Arnon Gorge to Mount Hermon
- 1:45and included all the land east of the Jordan Valley.
- 1:48King Saihan of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon, was defeated.
- 1:52His Kingdom included Aroa on the edge of the Arnon Gorge and
- 1:56extended from the middle of the Arnon Gorge to the Jabok River,
- 2:00which serves as a border for the Ammonites.
- 2:03This territory included the southern half of the territory
- 2:06of Gilead. Cyhon also controlled the Jordan
- 2:10Valley and regions to the east, from as far north as the Sea of
- 2:14Galilee to as far South as the Dead Sea, including the road to
- 2:19Beth Jeshimoth and southward to the slopes of Pisgah.
- 2:23King Ogg of Bashan, the last of the Raphaelites, lived at
- 2:27Ashtaroth and Edray. He ruled a territory stretching
- 2:32from Mount Hebron to Salaca in the north and to all of Bashan
- 2:36in the east and westward to the borders of the Kingdom of Geshe
- 2:40and Marka. This territory included the
- 2:43northern half of Gilead as far as the boundary of King Saihon
- 2:47of Hezbon. Moses, the servant of the Lord
- 2:51and the Israelites, had destroyed the people of King
- 2:53Saihon and King Ogg and Moses gave their land as a possession
- 2:58to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh.
- 3:03The following is a list of the kings that Joshua and the
- 3:06Israelite armies defeated on the West side of the Jordan, from
- 3:10Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon to Mount Halleck, which leads up
- 3:14to Saya. Joshua gave this land to the
- 3:17tribes of Israel as their possession, including the Hill
- 3:20Country, the western foothills, the Jordan Valley, the mountain
- 3:24slopes, the Judean wilderness, and the Negev.
- 3:29The people who lived in this region were the Hittites, the
- 3:31Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the
- 3:36Jebusites. These are the kings Israel
- 3:39defeated. The king of Jericho, the king of
- 3:43AI near Bethel, the king of Jerusalem.
- 3:46The king of Hebron. The king of Jarmoth.
- 3:49The king of Lakish. The king of Eglon.
- 3:53The king of Giza. The king of Deba.
- 3:56The king of Geda. The king of Homer.
- 3:59The king of Arad. The king of Libna.
- 4:02The king of Abdulam. The king of Makada.
- 4:06The king of Bethel. The king of Tapua.
- 4:09The king of Hefa. The king of Afaq.
- 4:13The king of Lacharon. The king of Maidon.
- 4:16The king of Hazor. The king of Shimron.
- 4:18Meron, The king of Akshath. The king of Tarnak.
- 4:23The king of Megiddo. The king of Kadesh.
- 4:27The king of Jochnium in Carmel. The king of Dor in the town of
- 4:32Nephothdor, the king of Goyim in Gilgal, the king of Terza.
- 4:39In all 31 kings were defeated. Our Lord, as we read this
- 4:54chapter, we are aware that when your plan is set in motion,
- 4:59there is nothing that can stand in its way because this is your
- 5:03world and nothing, nothing can stand in your way.
- 5:10And Lord, I wonder as we look out at our lives and we see the
- 5:13kingdoms that seem so established there that seem like
- 5:16they would never change. Lord, when you have your eye on
- 5:21your promised land and you have designs to use that for your
- 5:26Kingdom plan, well Lord, that's what you will do.
- 5:31So I pray that we look around at our lives through your eyes and
- 5:36we see your potential and we don't see the barriers that this
- 5:39world has in front of us because we want your Kingdom reality to
- 5:44come to bulldoze away those kingdoms of self righteousness,
- 5:51of cliquey groups of jobs that feel like they won't shift, of
- 5:58friendships that feel lost, of potential that feels like it'll
- 6:03never be reached. Our Lord, you will have your
- 6:06way. So we submit to your plan and
- 6:10pray Lord, that your will be done here in our lives on earth
- 6:15as it is perfectly in heaven. We are your people and we love
- 6:20you and we submit to your good and perfect plan.
- 6:26And we pray all of this in the saving name of Jesus, Amen.
