- 0:05Speaker 1: There's a snap that's low the placement, the kick is blocked.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Block I the Blaguars have wanted.
- 0:26Speaker 3: The Jaguars have picked the ball up, racing down the sideline.
- 0:29Speaker 3: They're gonnare he goes there, gonna score touchdown Jacksonville. Chris
- 0:35Speaker 3: Hudson picks up the block in races downfield and the
- 0:39Speaker 3: Jaguars have beat the Steelers.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Welcome into Jags Am.
- 0:43Speaker 5: This morning, we're going over some special moments in Jaguars
- 0:47Speaker 5: Monday Night football history to celebrate the return to Monday
- 0:49Speaker 5: Night Football, our first return there since twenty eleven. That
- 0:52Speaker 5: was nineteen ninety seven when they blocked the Steelers field
- 0:54Speaker 5: goal attempt to win the game. Jaguars got that twenty
- 0:56Speaker 5: nine to twenty one win over Pittsburgh. Let's go over
- 1:00Speaker 5: some of the big things for us this week as
- 1:02Speaker 5: we prepare for the Monday Night football game against the Bengals.
- 1:05Speaker 5: And Monster is our first big thing, and that's a
- 1:08Speaker 5: three headed monster in the wide receiving court for the Bengals. No,
- 1:11Speaker 5: they don't have Joe Burrow, but they have so much
- 1:13Speaker 5: talent on the wide receiver group that pretty much anybody
- 1:17Speaker 5: that can get them the ball is going to make
- 1:18Speaker 5: them dangerous. Brian, this is something we talked a little
- 1:21Speaker 5: bit about yesterday. But this has got to be a
- 1:23Speaker 5: point that the Jaguars have been focusing on this week.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Is shutting down these wide receivers.
- 1:27Speaker 6: Well, it is, and I have a strong thought them
- 1:28Speaker 6: that before I do that, Happy anniversary to all the
- 1:31Speaker 6: Jaguars and fans who were called it. Today is the
- 1:33Speaker 6: thirtieth anniversary of the National Football League announcement that the
- 1:36Speaker 6: Jaguars would be the thirtieth franchise in NFL history, and
- 1:40Speaker 6: is a great reminder John, who was here covering it,
- 1:43Speaker 6: that thirty years can pass in the blink of an eye.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 7: I actually didn't cover that event. I was covering the
- 1:48Speaker 7: University of Florida at the time, but I certainly remember
- 1:50Speaker 7: the call. I remember talking to Pete Prisco, who is
- 1:53Speaker 7: the Times Union main writer breaking the story. He had
- 1:57Speaker 7: a good feel three or four days that it was
- 1:59Speaker 7: going to be the Jack Wars, and nobody believed it.
- 2:02Speaker 7: Our editors the paper didn't believe it. He had to
- 2:05Speaker 7: fight to get the stories written. That's how unlikely it was.
- 2:08Speaker 7: And for somebody who grew up here who remembers ersay
- 2:12Speaker 7: and the Colts and all the teams at Florida with Jacksonville.
- 2:15Speaker 7: For years, he didn't think this could happen. The day
- 2:17Speaker 7: that had happened. It's still a surreal feeling. I still
- 2:21Speaker 7: get chills thinking about it, and to think that's thirty
- 2:23Speaker 7: years ago.
- 2:25Speaker 4: I'm an old man, right, Yeah, well I'm an old man.
- 2:27Speaker 8: That's the goal.
- 2:28Speaker 6: It beats the alternative, John, And they say, hey, remember
- 2:30Speaker 6: John Osher Yeah, so they would say no, yeah, so
- 2:35Speaker 6: a guy to answer your original question. Sorry to get
- 2:36Speaker 6: off track, but it's a very memorable day for those
- 2:40Speaker 6: of us who who were around and who have seen
- 2:42Speaker 6: all of this, and hopefully for new Jaguars fans and
- 2:45Speaker 6: there are many of them in recent years to appreciate
- 2:47Speaker 6: what November thirtieth means. And here we are thirty years
- 2:50Speaker 6: later talking about a big Monday night game against three receivers. John,
- 2:54Speaker 6: I think this is probably if you're going to look
- 2:56Speaker 6: at the most difficult group of receivers to match up
- 2:59Speaker 6: with in the league. I think Jamar Chase is clearly
- 3:02Speaker 6: well maybe he's not clearly, but he's right there at
- 3:04Speaker 6: the very top of the league, and he is so
- 3:06Speaker 6: hard to cover. And then you've got t Higgins, who
- 3:08Speaker 6: is six foot five. I think they expect him to
- 3:10Speaker 6: play again this week after missing a couple of weeks
- 3:13Speaker 6: with a hamstring. And then you've got Tyler Boyd. All
- 3:15Speaker 6: of these guys are thousand yard receivers in their career,
- 3:18Speaker 6: and in fact, Jamar Chase and t Higgins in the
- 3:21Speaker 6: last two years have posted thousand yard seasons. This is
- 3:24Speaker 6: a formidable challenge even if Joe Burrow is not on
- 3:27Speaker 6: the field.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really hard to cover him.
- 3:29Speaker 7: When Burrow is playing the key with this offense, I
- 3:34Speaker 7: think you need to stop Joe.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Mix and it's what the Steelers did last week.
- 3:37Speaker 7: Completely take away the run and then focus on getting
- 3:41Speaker 7: after I'm even forgetting his name, and I've written.
- 3:44Speaker 8: It the Frowning Jack Browns week.
- 3:48Speaker 7: He focus on getting after a young quarterback. Obviously, the
- 3:51Speaker 7: receivers could hurt you. I mean, the key for the
- 3:53Speaker 7: Jaguars is making a young quarterback make a few mistakes
- 3:55Speaker 7: that really cost them. I expect them to be able
- 3:58Speaker 7: to do that. But sait all week, I think this
- 4:01Speaker 7: is a little bit of a trap game. Don't assume
- 4:03Speaker 7: just because Burrow is not playing that these receivers can't
- 4:05Speaker 7: hurt you.
- 4:06Speaker 5: They certainly can, and that's something I'm sure that the
- 4:09Speaker 5: team has been focusing on this week. Another interesting thing,
- 4:11Speaker 5: Our second big thing is going to be matchups, because
- 4:13Speaker 5: this is a little bit of a different offensive line
- 4:16Speaker 5: than we've seen so far the season. Obviously, Cam Robinson
- 4:18Speaker 5: headed to the injured list, so John, we've seen azrare
- 4:21Speaker 5: Cleveland a little bit, and now he's going to be
- 4:23Speaker 5: starting at left guard. Walker Little moves over to left tackle.
- 4:26Speaker 5: And what does this mean for the offensive line?
- 4:29Speaker 7: Well, it shouldn't and it sounds silly, It shouldn't mean
- 4:32Speaker 7: a lot. And when I say that, the Jedward have
- 4:35Speaker 7: dide a nice job in the last two years of
- 4:37Speaker 7: making sure they have seven eight guys that they trust
- 4:41Speaker 7: that they can all play and play at a high level.
- 4:45Speaker 4: They proved that last year.
- 4:46Speaker 7: I don't think they get to the playoffs last year
- 4:49Speaker 7: if they don't have seven linemen who can play.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Shatley and Walker Little both came in.
- 4:55Speaker 7: If they've done it right, and I think they have,
- 4:57Speaker 7: there shouldn't be a drop off when they go to
- 4:59Speaker 7: six or six. Now the danger becomes if you lose
- 5:02Speaker 7: one more than your margin. Ferrera is gone, but Ezra Cleveland.
- 5:06Speaker 7: I thought run blocked very well last week. He's a
- 5:08Speaker 7: capable guy. He started four or five years or four
- 5:12Speaker 7: years in this league. To me, I wasn't surprised when
- 5:16Speaker 7: it looked the same last week when these guys went out.
- 5:19Speaker 4: It's what it's designed to do.
- 5:20Speaker 7: It's now there's really no depth, or not as much
- 5:23Speaker 7: depth that should said.
- 5:24Speaker 6: And Phil Roscher deserves a lot of credit for the
- 5:26Speaker 6: mix and match that he's had to do with times
- 5:28Speaker 6: on the left side of that line where they've had
- 5:30Speaker 6: injuries and suspensions that have caused all sorts of those issues.
- 5:34Speaker 6: The last two weeks, only one sack allowed for this
- 5:36Speaker 6: offensive line, and that was when Trevor Lawrence ran out
- 5:39Speaker 6: of bounds with the ball in.
- 5:40Speaker 8: His hands against the Titans.
- 5:41Speaker 9: Kid.
- 5:42Speaker 8: Here's what I want to point out.
- 5:43Speaker 6: They faced Trey Hendrickson, who has ten and a half sacks,
- 5:46Speaker 6: so just shy of one per game. He's an impact
- 5:49Speaker 6: pass rusher. And then a guy I think is underrated
- 5:52Speaker 6: as DJ Reeder, the former Texan who signed in Cincinnati
- 5:55Speaker 6: a few years.
- 5:55Speaker 8: Ago as a free agent.
- 5:57Speaker 6: He plays the nose or the zero technique right over
- 6:01Speaker 6: the center.
- 6:01Speaker 8: They'll slide him into the gaps.
- 6:03Speaker 6: He's a big, wide body with surprisingly quick feet.
- 6:06Speaker 8: And he can blow up plays.
- 6:08Speaker 6: And when you talk about defensive line and especially the interior, guys,
- 6:11Speaker 6: they don't have to do much. They don't have a
- 6:13Speaker 6: lot of tackles or a lot of sacks in most cases,
- 6:15Speaker 6: Aaron Donald being the exception to that rule in most cases,
- 6:18Speaker 6: but they blow plays up and force you to do
- 6:21Speaker 6: things to the outside and take away part of what
- 6:24Speaker 6: you want to do with your game plan. The Bengals
- 6:26Speaker 6: have guys up front who can do that. So this
- 6:28Speaker 6: offensive line is going to be tested on Monday Night.
- 6:32Speaker 5: As we move into our final big thing, we're going
- 6:34Speaker 5: to go over some of our favorite Monday Night moments.
- 6:36Speaker 5: We saw one off the top of the show and
- 6:38Speaker 5: just talking about Monday Night football, Brian, because if you
- 6:41Speaker 5: have a big game on Monday Night football in primetime,
- 6:44Speaker 5: that can change your career trajectory. I mean, we talk
- 6:46Speaker 5: a lot about Jacksonville getting that exposure, and we know
- 6:49Speaker 5: Trevor Lawrence is great, but if he has a big
- 6:51Speaker 5: game on Monday Night, or any player does, that can
- 6:53Speaker 5: really stick in someone's mind for the rest of their career.
- 6:56Speaker 6: Really well, it's the only game on and there are
- 6:58Speaker 6: a lot of people who have heard of Trevor Lawrence,
- 7:00Speaker 6: maybe who saw him play at Clemson, but haven't seen
- 7:03Speaker 6: the Jaguars because we're in a smaller market or in
- 7:06Speaker 6: the AFC, or choose your reason. So it's a chance
- 7:09Speaker 6: now for the Jaguars as a football team and the
- 7:13Speaker 6: franchise to show what they're all about on Monday Night football.
- 7:18Speaker 6: And John and I talked about this yesterday Sunday Night
- 7:21Speaker 6: versus Monday Night and Monday Night in our you know,
- 7:24Speaker 6: years growing up, because I think he said, we're old men.
- 7:27Speaker 8: It was the game.
- 7:28Speaker 6: And it feels this week, John, like this is the
- 7:31Speaker 6: game ESPN because of the money that they have poured
- 7:34Speaker 6: into the contract with the NFL is getting some big
- 7:37Speaker 6: games and this was supposed to be a big game
- 7:39Speaker 6: with Joe Burrow, I can't wait. We have seen some
- 7:41Speaker 6: immemorable moments. Some of the most memorable moments in Jaguars
- 7:45Speaker 6: history happened in the fifteen Monday Night football games that
- 7:48Speaker 6: this franchise has taken part in in they're now twenty
- 7:51Speaker 6: nine seasons.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Yeah, it's I'm surprised. And to your point, some of
- 7:56Speaker 4: the games.
- 7:57Speaker 7: Of the Jaguars that I remember when I wasn't year
- 8:01Speaker 7: was when they were playing on Monday Night. I think
- 8:02Speaker 7: the Pittsburgh game six when they I think it was
- 8:06Speaker 7: nine to nothing, shut him out. I remember that game
- 8:09Speaker 7: was I saw it and I followed the Jaguars because
- 8:13Speaker 7: they were in the division, but I didn't see them.
- 8:14Speaker 4: So those.
- 8:17Speaker 7: Those moments do resonate. I don't know that to me,
- 8:22Speaker 7: the Chris Hudson return and the Fred Taylor for how long?
- 8:25Speaker 4: Ninety yards?
- 8:27Speaker 6: That was the playoff game in ninety nine, but that
- 8:29Speaker 6: was seventy two yards sent.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Me two yards. Those two plays to me stand out
- 8:35Speaker 4: from the early days on Monday Night.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Let's hope there's more to come, you guys. At least
- 8:40Speaker 5: I'm hoping there's more to come. We have Sunday Night
- 8:42Speaker 5: football as well, so there's plenty of time for the
- 8:44Speaker 5: Jaguars to do something big in front of a national audience.
- 8:47Speaker 4: So stay with us.
- 8:48Speaker 5: We're going to continue our deep dive into this matchup
- 8:50Speaker 5: against the Bengals.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Right here on Jags.

- 10:47Speaker 5: prepare for that Monday night football matchup against the Bengals.
- 10:51Speaker 5: And of course whenever we face off against a team
- 10:54Speaker 5: like this, we want to check in with the people
- 10:56Speaker 5: that know them the best. Mike Petralia are Bengals insiders
- 10:59Speaker 5: joined us this morning as we try to predict a
- 11:03Speaker 5: little bit about what we're going to see on Monday. Mike,
- 11:06Speaker 5: I know when I saw the schedule come out and
- 11:09Speaker 5: the Jaggers are going to face the Bengals, that was
- 11:10Speaker 5: one of the games I looked at and circled on
- 11:12Speaker 5: my calendar. I was really excited for, specifically to see
- 11:15Speaker 5: Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence. Obviously, that's not what we're
- 11:17Speaker 5: going to get. What's kind of the state of the
- 11:19Speaker 5: team right now? Where are things at with them?
- 11:21Speaker 12: Well, that's a great question, Kai, What is the state
- 11:24Speaker 12: of the Cincinnati Bengals. I think you know what certainly
- 11:28Speaker 12: Zach Taylor, head coach, has tried to impart upon and
- 11:31Speaker 12: impress upon his players, his fellow coaches, and media and fans,
- 11:37Speaker 12: is that the Bengals narrative can still be written or rewritten,
- 11:42Speaker 12: even though they are five and six after eleven games,
- 11:45Speaker 12: even though they have lost Joe Burrow for the season
- 11:48Speaker 12: after Monday's surgery on his right wrist. He believes that
- 11:53Speaker 12: this team quote can still achieve something special in the
- 11:57Speaker 12: last six games of the season. And that's what really
- 12:00Speaker 12: is at stake for the Bengals on Monday Night. Can
- 12:03Speaker 12: they show everybody that this team is capable of playing
- 12:06Speaker 12: competitive football on a primetime stage. Right before the break,
- 12:10Speaker 12: you talked about the Jaguars in primetime. No team has
- 12:14Speaker 12: struggled on the road in primetime more than the Cincinnati Bengals.
- 12:19Speaker 12: They have lost Kai fifteen in a road in a
- 12:22Speaker 12: row on the road in primetime. Twenty six of the
- 12:26Speaker 12: last twenty seven dating back to the nineteen nineties. They
- 12:30Speaker 12: need to prove that they can be at least competitive
- 12:33Speaker 12: on the road and maybe steal one on the road.
- 12:36Speaker 5: In primetime, we saw a sense of desperation out of
- 12:39Speaker 5: the forty nine ers, a good team that came in
- 12:41Speaker 5: and had struggled, had lost three in a row, and
- 12:42Speaker 5: they came in and completely dominated the Jaguars. What you're
- 12:45Speaker 5: describing seems a little bit of a desperation point for
- 12:47Speaker 5: the Bengals as well. Is that kind of a focus
- 12:50Speaker 5: point of coming in improving yourself a little bit?
- 12:53Speaker 12: I think so. And they were in bass last week
- 12:55Speaker 12: Kai by running the ball just eight times and passing
- 12:59Speaker 12: it for about thirty times. In that contest, they only
- 13:04Speaker 12: had thirty eight offensive snaps from the line of scrimmage,
- 13:08Speaker 12: not including the punts and the one field goal that
- 13:10Speaker 12: they attempted and converted. They need to be better in
- 13:13Speaker 12: the run game, There's no question about that. And I
- 13:17Speaker 12: also heard your fellow colleagues talking about the Jacksonville run
- 13:22Speaker 12: defense and running the ball and what the Bengals might
- 13:25Speaker 12: try to do with Joe Mixon. They've got to be
- 13:27Speaker 12: committed to First of all, they ran Joe Mixon eight
- 13:30Speaker 12: times last week for sixteen yards. I think one point
- 13:34Speaker 12: of emphasis coming into this game is going to be
- 13:37Speaker 12: trying to establish the run more of a balance, so
- 13:40Speaker 12: you don't put the full weight of the offense on
- 13:42Speaker 12: Jake Browning, who did a pretty respectable job last week.
- 13:46Speaker 12: He was twenty six I'm sorry, nineteen of twenty six
- 13:50Speaker 12: for two hundred and seventy yards. Again very respectable numbers.
- 13:55Speaker 12: He threw a touchdown, but he threw a key interception
- 13:59Speaker 12: when the Bengals about seven to three driving on the
- 14:01Speaker 12: first drive of the second half, he threw an interception,
- 14:05Speaker 12: completely changed the course of the game and the Steelers
- 14:07Speaker 12: came back and won the game.
- 14:09Speaker 8: Good morning, Mike Key, thanks for joining us.
- 14:12Speaker 6: Let me take you to the other side of the
- 14:13Speaker 6: ball and the Bengals defense in Luanna Rouma, has been
- 14:16Speaker 6: celebrated for his opportunistic unit the last couple of years,
- 14:20Speaker 6: but obviously they've struggled with some downfield shots. Tell me
- 14:25Speaker 6: what's got to happen on that side of the ball
- 14:28Speaker 6: for the Bengals defense to get back to that level
- 14:30Speaker 6: of play where they were earlier this year and in
- 14:33Speaker 6: their playoff runs of the last couple of seasons.
- 14:35Speaker 12: Well, their safety play has to be better. That has
- 14:38Speaker 12: been a point of weakness. Jesse Baits, Jesse Bates, and
- 14:42Speaker 12: Von Bell left last offseason. That left a big void
- 14:46Speaker 12: back there. They had second year player Dax Hill out
- 14:48Speaker 12: of the University of Michigan step up. He has essentially
- 14:51Speaker 12: done a very commendable job filling in for Jesse Bates.
- 14:55Speaker 12: Hasn't created the number of turnovers that Bates has in Atlanta,
- 14:59Speaker 12: but real weak has been a strong safety spot. Nick
- 15:02Speaker 12: Scott was signed away from the La Rams. He played
- 15:06Speaker 12: okay at the start of the season, but his play
- 15:08Speaker 12: really started to dip off, especially in the past coverage game.
- 15:12Speaker 12: And they've brought in a rookie, Jordan Battle out of Alabama.
- 15:15Speaker 12: He's done a good job, but again he makes free
- 15:18Speaker 12: mistakes and they have allowed big gash plays. They allowed
- 15:23Speaker 12: something like twenty explosive plays against seventeen explosive plays against
- 15:27Speaker 12: the Houston Texans a couple of weeks ago. Last week
- 15:31Speaker 12: against the Steelers, it was really about the run game,
- 15:34Speaker 12: and the week before that against the Ravens, the run
- 15:37Speaker 12: game has really failed them. And your point was about
- 15:42Speaker 12: DJ Reader really and he and bj Hill have done
- 15:46Speaker 12: their best in the middle of the defensive line. But
- 15:48Speaker 12: when teams have gotten to the outside and run against
- 15:51Speaker 12: the Bengals, they've had a great deal of success. And
- 15:55Speaker 12: that's where I think the Jaguars will try and exploit
- 15:57Speaker 12: the Bengals.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Mike, one last thing from us. I do like to
- 16:00Speaker 5: get an outside perspective what we see from Trevor Lawrence
- 16:03Speaker 5: and what we know he's capable of. What have you
- 16:05Speaker 5: kind of seen from an outside looking in. Obviously I've
- 16:07Speaker 5: covered a young quarterback in Joe Burrow, but what have
- 16:09Speaker 5: you seen from Trevor Lawrence.
- 16:11Speaker 12: Explosive, obviously, very mobile, and he can be as accurate
- 16:17Speaker 12: as there is in the game. But I think the
- 16:19Speaker 12: thing about Trevor Lawrence that impresses me, and we saw
- 16:22Speaker 12: this last year in the playoffs, when the team gets down,
- 16:26Speaker 12: Trevor Lawrence finds a way to rally the trips for
- 16:29Speaker 12: the most part, and no game is ever out of
- 16:31Speaker 12: reach with Trevor Lawrence. And those are the kind of
- 16:34Speaker 12: things that Zach Taylor brought up this week. Of course,
- 16:36Speaker 12: this is the Taylor Bowl Press Taylor against Back. I'm
- 16:39Speaker 12: sure you've brought that up already, but Zach has been
- 16:42Speaker 12: very impressed with the poise that Trevor Lawrence has shown,
- 16:46Speaker 12: and that is something that the Bengals are going to
- 16:49Speaker 12: have to be on the lookout for, not allow him
- 16:52Speaker 12: to get out of the pocket and do things that
- 16:55Speaker 12: Lamar Jacksons, for example, done against them Bengals played the Ravens.
- 16:59Speaker 5: I don't know if the tailor's passed that trophy back
- 17:01Speaker 5: and forth anymore, but I'm sure bragging rights are on
- 17:03Speaker 5: the line either way.
- 17:04Speaker 12: They are on the line.
- 17:05Speaker 8: Kai.
- 17:05Speaker 12: But Zach asked specifically about that on Monday and he said,
- 17:09Speaker 12: now that the trophy stays at home with the parents,
- 17:13Speaker 12: with his dad, but they still do have bragging rights.
- 17:16Speaker 12: There's no question about that.
- 17:18Speaker 7: Very good.
- 17:18Speaker 5: Should be a good one on Monday night. Mike, thank
- 17:20Speaker 5: you for joining us and filling us in on all
- 17:21Speaker 5: things Bangles.

- 19:30Speaker 4: We now hands on Taylor running left, cuch it back.
- 19:31Speaker 14: He's got a hold there, he is thirty, Panda upside
- 19:33Speaker 14: forty there, he goes to the forty five, fifty. It's
- 19:36Speaker 14: a foot race. Forty Taylor, thirty, Taylor to the twenty.
- 19:39Speaker 14: He's to the ten. He's pulled down, but he gets
- 19:41Speaker 14: into the until touchdown. The first play of the game.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Talking about our Monday memories, Ryan, that's a good one.
- 19:49Speaker 4: First play of the game.
- 19:51Speaker 6: You know that that was Taylor's rookie year, and he
- 19:55Speaker 6: took over just the week before I think or two
- 19:58Speaker 6: weeks before against Baltimore, and he had not won the
- 20:02Speaker 6: job from James Stewart, another first round pick at the time,
- 20:04Speaker 6: and people remember kept saying, what's that with Fred?
- 20:06Speaker 8: How come we haven't seen this guy? You know?
- 20:08Speaker 4: Go?
- 20:09Speaker 6: And the first carry he had against the Ravens went
- 20:11Speaker 6: for fifty six yards in a touchdown, So we weren't
- 20:13Speaker 6: really surprised that he was explosive, like you could do that,
- 20:16Speaker 6: except that was that was one of the fastest defenses
- 20:18Speaker 6: in football. That was Brock Marion and Sam Madison and.
- 20:22Speaker 8: I mean they were they were good.
- 20:24Speaker 6: And for him to do that on the first play
- 20:26Speaker 6: the game against that defense, John, that was epic.
- 20:29Speaker 7: And it was a year where Fred should have won
- 20:32Speaker 7: Rookie of the Year. Randy Moss won it. Fred had
- 20:35Speaker 7: an equal argument to Randy Moss. I think without Sam
- 20:38Speaker 7: mountm touchdown seventeen Yeah, without the Randy Moss Thanksgiving game.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Three catches, sixty three yards and three touchdowns in Dallas,
- 20:47Speaker 4: I think Fred wins that award.
- 20:48Speaker 7: But every game, excuse me, every game he's doing something special.
- 20:54Speaker 7: I talked to Fred a couple of years ago about
- 20:56Speaker 7: that Miami game, and he said, what people don't remember,
- 21:00Speaker 7: and he was sort of thankful for it. They were
- 21:03Speaker 7: geared up to stop him and I think he gained
- 21:05Speaker 7: like eighteen yards the rest of the ya I mean
- 21:08Speaker 7: with Zach Thomas defense. They were really geared up to
- 21:12Speaker 7: stop him. But he said, I got him on that play.
- 21:15Speaker 7: As what people remember. And the funny thing about that game,
- 21:18Speaker 7: it was a great game.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Beyond that.
- 21:19Speaker 7: That was the game where Keenan caught two touchdown passes
- 21:21Speaker 7: at the end. They came back late. It was not
- 21:24Speaker 7: a given the jag was really good. It was not
- 21:26Speaker 7: a given they were going to win that game. I
- 21:28Speaker 7: think Tony Brackens had a game ending sack in that game.
- 21:30Speaker 7: He was coming off an injury. So it was a
- 21:33Speaker 7: beyond that play, I would say, a turning point. But
- 21:38Speaker 7: they were always big back then when you played the
- 21:40Speaker 7: Dolphins in the Bucks because they were the established teams,
- 21:43Speaker 7: and that game sort of started establishing is to the Jags,
- 21:46Speaker 7: I thought. And they beat the Bucks later that season
- 21:49Speaker 7: as the team Okay, they're they're not kids anymore. They
- 21:53Speaker 7: went on and they won the division that year. It
- 21:54Speaker 7: was a great year.
- 21:55Speaker 5: For the Jags ninety eight and that Randy Moss game
- 21:57Speaker 5: on things. I mean, we talk about these primetime moments.
- 21:59Speaker 5: They can last in your memory, get you awards, get
- 22:02Speaker 5: you notice all these things.
- 22:04Speaker 6: Randy was a huge story because of that. Fred had
- 22:07Speaker 6: more total yards and seventeen touchdowns, the equal to Randy Moss.
- 22:12Speaker 6: But he came up just shy, and he never forgot it.
- 22:14Speaker 6: He does it, never forgot it. That's what I loved
- 22:18Speaker 6: about Fred was is you know, he remembered everything, even
- 22:21Speaker 6: if he was grateful that some people didn't remember everything.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Hopefully they're both in the Hall someday together and then
- 22:26Speaker 5: they can just give each other crap the entire time.
- 22:28Speaker 6: That's what I would wake for semi finalists.
- 22:29Speaker 5: Right, semifinalists here. As we move forward, we're gonna look
- 22:32Speaker 5: a little bit at who we think might be big
- 22:34Speaker 5: playmakers in this game on Monday. Who do you have
- 22:36Speaker 5: this week?
- 22:37Speaker 6: Well, I'll go with Travis etn for the reasons that
- 22:39Speaker 6: Mike from Cincinnati just shared. He is an outside runner.
- 22:43Speaker 6: Nothing to take away from his ability to go inside.
- 22:46Speaker 6: But we have seen this year that when Travis et
- 22:48Speaker 6: And is at his best, he is getting outside looking
- 22:51Speaker 6: for the cutback or just racing to the corner and
- 22:53Speaker 6: making things happen. The Bengals have been susceptible there, so
- 22:56Speaker 6: I see it happening. He won't necessarily average seven yards
- 23:01Speaker 6: a carry, right I mean, he is a guy. He's
- 23:03Speaker 6: just under what is a three point seven, three point
- 23:05Speaker 6: eight right now? I mean it's a yard, a yard
- 23:08Speaker 6: and fifteen yards with Etn And I think there'll be
- 23:11Speaker 6: a bunch of those. So it's not like he's gonna
- 23:13Speaker 6: put up these epic numbers. But I do think he'll
- 23:14Speaker 6: get one hundred yards and he might score two touchdowns
- 23:18Speaker 6: again because I think the Jaguars are going to see
- 23:21Speaker 6: an opportunity to feature Etn on the ground and keep
- 23:24Speaker 6: the ball in his hands. And I think he's got
- 23:26Speaker 6: a big night in front of him.
- 23:28Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really you feel for Travis a little bit.
- 23:32Speaker 7: And again it's not to knock the offensive line, but
- 23:35Speaker 7: it has not been a great, consistent, consistent run blocking
- 23:39Speaker 7: unit this year, and I think Travis has done a
- 23:42Speaker 7: remarkable job his I've never really seen a back do
- 23:47Speaker 7: this like this.
- 23:47Speaker 4: I've covered Fred, I covered Edgar and James probably the
- 23:50Speaker 4: two best running backs I've covered.
- 23:52Speaker 7: Travis is an amazing job of getting small on a
- 23:56Speaker 7: at a moment and getting yards that most backs couldn't get.
- 24:01Speaker 7: And I think he's created a lot of his own
- 24:03Speaker 7: stuff this year, and he's having a remarkable year for
- 24:07Speaker 7: how the offense is playing. And I think they're a
- 24:11Speaker 7: better team when they can get him in the end
- 24:13Speaker 7: zone on.
- 24:14Speaker 4: The occasions where they've been able to will him into
- 24:16Speaker 4: the end zone.
- 24:16Speaker 7: Buffalo, that three game stretch, to me, that still feels
- 24:20Speaker 7: like they're They felt more secure in the offense in
- 24:27Speaker 7: those two or three weeks, like they trusted what they.
- 24:29Speaker 4: Were doing a little more.
- 24:31Speaker 7: And a lot of that's because they they trusted their
- 24:32Speaker 7: running game more than they have an eight point this year.
- 24:34Speaker 6: And I don't take anything away from his ability, his
- 24:36Speaker 6: willingness to go inside. His longest run last week in
- 24:38Speaker 6: Houston was you know, inside the tackle run where he
- 24:42Speaker 6: set the defender up and then got nineteen yards to midfield.
- 24:45Speaker 6: It's just, well, he's so electrifying when you let him
- 24:48Speaker 6: get outside.
- 24:49Speaker 8: And they need him this week.
- 24:51Speaker 4: And most backs are better out there because there's fewer people.
- 24:55Speaker 6: He's just not a pounder, no no doubt, but he's
- 25:00Speaker 6: gutsy and he will do it.
- 25:02Speaker 4: I went with Josh Allen and it's sort of an
- 25:04Speaker 4: obvious tick. That's a great game last week.
- 25:07Speaker 7: But he will play well because to me, one of
- 25:11Speaker 7: the biggest disservices people have done and analyzing Josh, He's
- 25:17Speaker 7: always been good. It's not like this year he's all
- 25:20Speaker 7: of a sudden, come out of nowhere and good.
- 25:22Speaker 4: He's getting more.
- 25:23Speaker 7: Opportunities for sacks this year. He's closing a little better.
- 25:26Speaker 7: But to me, he's been a near Pro Bowl caliber
- 25:29Speaker 7: player every year of his career. He won't this week
- 25:34Speaker 7: be shut out. I think he'll get a sack. The
- 25:38Speaker 7: big reason I wanted to do this as he will
- 25:41Speaker 7: he when he might, he might.
- 25:44Speaker 4: It's not the people on the nation don't know him.
- 25:45Speaker 7: Yet, but he might be the guy on the Jaguars
- 25:48Speaker 7: who has the biggest chance to become a superstar on Monday.
- 25:51Speaker 7: He has a couple of If he has a couple
- 25:53Speaker 7: of sacks, he's a dynamic guy. He's not only a
- 25:56Speaker 7: sack guy, but when he gets his sacks, he can
- 25:58Speaker 7: be violent.
- 25:59Speaker 4: He can create a sack fumble.
- 26:02Speaker 7: This might be where people nationally start referring to the
- 26:06Speaker 7: Bills guys the other Josh Dallin.
- 26:10Speaker 6: You're clever this morning, ohsher, I will say this. Also,
- 26:12Speaker 6: he's getting Orlando Brown, who is a handful because he's
- 26:15Speaker 6: so big at left tackle. However, he's facing Jake Browning
- 26:19Speaker 6: as a quarterback.
- 26:20Speaker 8: And you know C. J.
- 26:21Speaker 6: Stroud, Joe Burrow. These are guys who feel the pressure,
- 26:25Speaker 6: who can slip to evade, or very crafty in the pocket.
- 26:28Speaker 6: I watched the game, the Bengals game against the Steelers.
- 26:31Speaker 6: He's not a crafty pop pocket presence. Josh is a
- 26:34Speaker 6: guy who keeps coming and can slide either way. I mean,
- 26:37Speaker 6: I think this quarterback is going to be befuddled by
- 26:41Speaker 6: the outside pass rush of Trayvond and Josh, and they're
- 26:45Speaker 6: gonna get some sacks because he's just gonna be clueless
- 26:48Speaker 6: about what's going on around him.
- 26:49Speaker 7: Well, it's sort of the right time of the year
- 26:51Speaker 7: for Josh to do what we're talking about. He's already
- 26:53Speaker 7: got twelve. You get a couple on Monday night that
- 26:57Speaker 7: gets you to fourt You know, now you can supplement
- 26:59Speaker 7: the staff. People on the broadcast are talking about whoa
- 27:03Speaker 7: this guy? You know, they talk about the numbers. They
- 27:05Speaker 7: can go back and talk about the year he's having.
- 27:07Speaker 7: It won't look like a flash in the pan game,
- 27:09Speaker 7: which it wouldn't be, but you never know about perception.
- 27:11Speaker 4: I think it's a huge moment for him.
- 27:13Speaker 6: Tony Brackens, who's the all time ZAC leader here with
- 27:14Speaker 6: fifty five, his best season was twelve. Kalays Campbell in
- 27:18Speaker 6: twenty seventeen set the franchise record. He has fourteen and
- 27:21Speaker 6: a half. I mean, can you see Josh not getting
- 27:25Speaker 6: the franchise record. I mean he might get it in
- 27:27Speaker 6: the next two.
- 27:28Speaker 4: Weeks matter when.
- 27:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I know he's got that in his set of
- 27:31Speaker 5: his mind as well. You got that on top of
- 27:33Speaker 5: mind as well. I went with Andresis though, because as
- 27:36Speaker 5: we mentioned, gonna be tough with the wide receivers, so
- 27:39Speaker 5: it will be a tough matchup for Andra Sisco to
- 27:41Speaker 5: be out there kind of dealing with all of the
- 27:44Speaker 5: wide receivers and all of the weapons that the Bengals have.
- 27:46Speaker 5: I don't think he won't be overwhelmed by it, is
- 27:49Speaker 5: what I will say. He's faced off against great wide
- 27:51Speaker 5: receivers before. We have seen moments as the nature of
- 27:54Speaker 5: the position is where there's a susceptible big play for
- 27:58Speaker 5: this team. But I think this might be an opportunity
- 28:02Speaker 5: for him to take advantage of a rookie quarterback. We've
- 28:04Speaker 5: seen him be a ball hawk, We've seen him get interceptions.
- 28:07Speaker 5: He's still trying to get that pick six. I know
- 28:09Speaker 5: that's on top of his mind. So this might be
- 28:11Speaker 5: an opportunity where if Josh Allen and treyvonn are putting
- 28:14Speaker 5: a ton of pressure on him, Jake Browning makes some
- 28:16Speaker 5: silly throws which younger quarterbacks are known to do, or
- 28:19Speaker 5: backup quarterbacks are known to do, and that's a possibility.
- 28:21Speaker 6: I hope he does better for you that he did
- 28:22Speaker 6: for me. I thought last week he was my he
- 28:24Speaker 6: will he won't. He might last week and I thought,
- 28:26Speaker 6: you know, the ball might get up there and he
- 28:28Speaker 6: might get something.
- 28:28Speaker 4: And maybe this week.
- 28:29Speaker 6: See j Stroud is obviously a very good rookie quarterback,
- 28:32Speaker 6: but this week you get Jake Browning, who's not the
- 28:34Speaker 6: same caliber. I bet you this week is a good
- 28:36Speaker 6: week for Andre Cisco.
- 28:37Speaker 5: Let us hope, let us hope. Let's big, big games
- 28:40Speaker 5: for everybody as we take on that prime time stage.
- 28:43Speaker 5: We will have one more Monday night moment when we
- 28:46Speaker 5: come back after the break and we give our predictions
- 28:48Speaker 5: for this week.

- 30:53Speaker 4: breaks to tackle.
- 30:54Speaker 8: He's on the run.
- 30:55Speaker 14: Ten fine touchdown Creig Taylor and Jacksonville plays the lead.
- 31:01Speaker 14: Hollis put it up and throw the Jaguars our winners
- 31:05Speaker 14: over the Denver Broncos.
- 31:08Speaker 5: Not much better than that. A Fred Taylor touchdown and
- 31:10Speaker 5: a game winning field goal.
- 31:12Speaker 8: Yeah, context on that one.
- 31:14Speaker 6: Fred in ninety nine and this six games with a hamstring,
- 31:17Speaker 6: and he took a lot of grief for that. They
- 31:20Speaker 6: called him fragile Fred. And if you know anything about Fred,
- 31:23Speaker 6: that really aided him. He didn't play most of that game.
- 31:26Speaker 6: He had a few carries smattered here and there around
- 31:29Speaker 6: James Stewart did mostly every work. They put him back
- 31:31Speaker 6: in the game in the fourth quarter, and that's what
- 31:33Speaker 6: he rips off is the game winner.
- 31:35Speaker 8: And it was an important Monday night game. And I
- 31:37Speaker 8: think a lot of people forget that Monday.
- 31:38Speaker 6: Night game because the Jaguars were, you know, fighting for
- 31:42Speaker 6: home field advantage, and that put it away gave them
- 31:44Speaker 6: the number one seed in the AFC. So Fred's run
- 31:47Speaker 6: was not just the game winner, it gave them home
- 31:49Speaker 6: field advantage.
- 31:50Speaker 5: It was a good one. We love these Monday Night moments,
- 31:52Speaker 5: so hopefully we'll get some more. We can play them
- 31:55Speaker 5: on Monday for you or Wednesday for you. Next week
- 31:57Speaker 5: you're playing Monday night. I gotta get my day straight.
- 32:00Speaker 5: We've talked a lot about this game. What are our
- 32:02Speaker 5: final predictions. I guess Brian will start with you.
- 32:04Speaker 8: Well, I mean, I think the Jaguars have a lot
- 32:05Speaker 8: of motivation.
- 32:06Speaker 9: Right.
- 32:06Speaker 6: The last time they had a significant game at home
- 32:09Speaker 6: it was the Niners, and we all know what happened there.
- 32:12Speaker 6: They're focused, They are the better team with Joe Burrow
- 32:16Speaker 6: out especially, they are. They're playing well on both sides
- 32:19Speaker 6: of the ball. I mean, just pick an area and
- 32:21Speaker 6: you can talk about the offensive line, the defensive line.
- 32:24Speaker 6: They're playing good football. I do think that the secondary
- 32:28Speaker 6: has to play tighter coverage, right. It's easy to say,
- 32:31Speaker 6: hard to do against the three headed monster that we
- 32:34Speaker 6: let off the show with. But I think the Jaguars
- 32:36Speaker 6: win and set up next week's can we stay in
- 32:40Speaker 6: the number one overall seed discussion?
- 32:43Speaker 4: Yet? I think they win.
- 32:45Speaker 7: I don't think it'll be a spectacular game offensively, only
- 32:50Speaker 7: because I don't know if it'll have to be. It
- 32:53Speaker 7: feels to me like it's a game that the Jaguars
- 32:55Speaker 7: should be able to relatively control offensively. Bengal might move,
- 33:01Speaker 7: but with a younger quarterback, you would think they would
- 33:03Speaker 7: not be great in the red zone.
- 33:04Speaker 4: So you know, i'd say some of on the lines of.
- 33:06Speaker 7: Twenty eight sixteen, where the Jaguars feel in the second
- 33:10Speaker 7: half like they got it under control. The reason I
- 33:12Speaker 7: say it's not wider is the Bengals are a proud team,
- 33:17Speaker 7: They're a tough team. They're not going to go down easily.
- 33:20Speaker 7: So I think it'll be a fight. But I think
- 33:22Speaker 7: the Jaguars, if they play, you know, if they show up,
- 33:28Speaker 7: if they play the way they've played to get tait
- 33:32Speaker 7: and three, with that level of intensity, I think they
- 33:35Speaker 7: will win the fourth quarter and win the game. They're also,
- 33:39Speaker 7: by the way, the Bengals are well coached team.
- 33:41Speaker 6: You know, you look at the way that they played
- 33:43Speaker 6: last week, undermanned as they were in Pittsburgh, and it
- 33:46Speaker 6: took the Steelers all the way to the end of
- 33:48Speaker 6: the game to knock them out of it. So, and
- 33:51Speaker 6: it's not just Zach Taylor, it's also lou An Rumabo,
- 33:54Speaker 6: the defensive coordinator, is a very well regarded coach. So
- 33:57Speaker 6: expect them to come in prepared and to make a
- 34:00Speaker 6: find of it.
- 34:00Speaker 5: And I think that's big for me. It's a proven
- 34:02Speaker 5: game in terms of the Jaguars just being ready to play.
- 34:04Speaker 5: Obviously we saw them against the forty nine Ers that
- 34:06Speaker 5: was our last big game we were excited for, and
- 34:08Speaker 5: they weren't ready to play. They just weren't. Obviously it's
- 34:10Speaker 5: a tremendous team, but they weren't able to do much
- 34:13Speaker 5: of anything. And then also to see them go up
- 34:15Speaker 5: against the Chiefs not be able to quite get there.
- 34:17Speaker 5: I think just taking care of business will say a
- 34:18Speaker 5: lot about this team and just focusing, not underestimating an
- 34:21Speaker 5: opponent just because Joe Burrow isn't out there, and you know,
- 34:24Speaker 5: going out there and winning the games that they should win,
- 34:26Speaker 5: and I think they should win. On Monday Night now, everybody,
- 34:29Speaker 5: I hope you enjoy your Sundays. I hope you enjoy
- 34:31Speaker 5: Monday night here in Jacksonville. Will be back next week
- 34:34Speaker 5: to recap everything for you on Wednesday on Jags. I
- 34:37Speaker 5: Am
