- 0:18Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Pandemonium, the pop culture game show
- 0:22Speaker 1: that shines a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your
- 0:25Speaker 1: games master and petite British Navy admiral looking to rid
- 0:29Speaker 1: the world of pirates, Matt Watson. But a games master
- 0:32Speaker 1: needs games, and games need players, so please welcome first.
- 0:36Speaker 1: She is our resident team captain, a podcaster and comedian
- 0:39Speaker 1: who works in STEM, which today stands for Searching for
- 0:43Speaker 1: Treasure Everywhere. Mate. Yeah, it's Udre Stephenson.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Wow, that's me. Oh my god, how that works?
- 0:50Speaker 1: That works with the letter does and he is a podcaster, author,
- 0:54Speaker 1: and TTRPG performer. Subscribe to Fuck Buddies, a sex positive
- 0:58Speaker 1: dating advice podcast. He's sexy and he's positive. Yeah, it's Nile, Spain.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Prepared to be boreded. I'm born mis consent. Yeah, Hi guys, Hello, Hello.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Welcome as always, Audra, Welcome back, Nile. It's good to
- 1:17Speaker 1: see you.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I'm excited to be here. I love parts of Caribbean
- 1:21Speaker 3: and I love you guys. So ten out of ten
- 1:23Speaker 3: from me.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Wow, we don't even have to try any harder. We've
- 1:27Speaker 1: made it. He's done it.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Success stop the podcast.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Well, it's good to hear you're a fan of Pirates
- 1:34Speaker 1: of the Caribbean, Nile or Caribbean. I'm going to say
- 1:36Speaker 1: Caribbean and Caribbean interchangeably.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I will probably say Caribbean and be wrong, so yeah, I.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Don't know, wrong together. Yeah, it's good to know you're
- 1:46Speaker 1: a fan. You addressed a little piratey today Nile. That's great.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it was going to be a little bit more extreme,
- 1:50Speaker 3: but I didn't want to get wet, so I'm not
- 1:52Speaker 3: even going to explain that. Yeah to those who know, no,
- 1:57Speaker 3: it's raining outside, I did explain it, damn.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Nil. You you have Pirates the Caribbean fan, longtime fans
- 2:04Speaker 1: since the old days of the two thousands.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I probably watched all of the first three in theater.
- 2:11Speaker 3: First three are phenomenal and still hold up in many ways.
- 2:16Speaker 3: In almost all ways, I would say the fourth one
- 2:18Speaker 3: could die in a fire, and the fifth one's like
- 2:22Speaker 3: all right, sure, Like maybe it was just because it
- 2:26Speaker 3: was after the fourth one that that was like, oh
- 2:28Speaker 3: it's actually a movie.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, the power of comparison that yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, but the first three fucking incredible.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff, all right, Good to know that you're
- 2:38Speaker 1: a you're a fan, and that we didn't just make
- 2:40Speaker 1: this quiz for no reason with no one being fans. Uh, oh,
- 2:44Speaker 1: what about you? You fan of the Pirates films I have.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I am a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I have seen the first three. I have not seen
- 2:51Speaker 2: the fourth or fifth, which honestly sounds like I ignorance
- 2:55Speaker 2: is bliss. Yeah, like it seems accurate.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there's no there's no real reason to apart
- 3:01Speaker 3: from this show I guess which I watched for this,
- 3:04Speaker 3: and it was like dragging myself for rusty nails. At
- 3:06Speaker 3: one point, I was like, why am I doing this?
- 3:08Speaker 3: I could be doing anything else, and I'm watching the
- 3:09Speaker 3: fourth movie.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and questions about them are badly gonna come.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Up, thank god, because I don't remember shit. Yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 2: There was very little to do anywhere near my hometown
- 3:22Speaker 2: of like a thousand people, and so you just go
- 3:25Speaker 2: to the movie theater that was like twenty minutes away.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I think I probably saw the first one about five
- 3:31Speaker 2: times now and.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Just still not enough times.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Honestly, if I had, if I had the money, probably
- 3:37Speaker 2: would have gone twenty five times. But I was a youth.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Nice, nice, and how about now, how'd you feel
- 3:45Speaker 1: about Oh the Caribbean?
- 3:49Speaker 2: Still love it? Rewatched the first one and then some
- 3:52Speaker 2: like clips from the second and third. I was like, God,
- 3:56Speaker 2: still got it, still fucking.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Slaps, still got it.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's still so good. I am kind of a
- 4:01Speaker 2: sucker for pirate movies and just pirate anything in general.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I loved growing up. The worst movie potentially ever made,
- 4:10Speaker 2: Cutthroat Island, was just a pirate movie that almost ruined
- 4:14Speaker 2: Geena Davis's career, but I watched it until I wore
- 4:19Speaker 2: out the VHS. It was so good to me. And
- 4:22Speaker 2: so when Pirates of the Caribbean came out and it
- 4:24Speaker 2: was actually a good pirate movie, oh my heart was
- 4:28Speaker 2: filled with such joy.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Beautiful. I mean, we'll get to the throw Island episode
- 4:33Speaker 1: twenty years from now or something, maybe never, but for
- 4:37Speaker 1: now we're with Pirates of the Caribbean, and yeah, I
- 4:40Speaker 1: think you'll make a good team, a good pair of shipmates. Yeah,
- 4:45Speaker 1: we'll probably be talking about a lot in this episode.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I reckon. So if you find that annoying, I'm so sorry.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I don't regret. Okay, you're gonna need some rivals whilst
- 4:55Speaker 1: sailing the high seas, so let's meet them. He is
- 4:58Speaker 1: a podcast actor and regular gate Leapers Captain. After you've
- 5:03Speaker 1: listened to this, listen to his series Press Play on
- 5:05Speaker 1: this very same podcast feed. He likes old, bad video
- 5:09Speaker 1: game movies and we love him for it. Yeah, it's
- 5:12Speaker 1: Drew Shulman.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I'll get you, Peter Pan. Wait what Hiras movies? Are
- 5:16Speaker 3: we doing.
- 5:18Speaker 1: All of them?
- 5:20Speaker 4: I'm gonna be very honest, actually didn't do much prep.
- 5:23Speaker 4: I was like, you know what, I've seen these movies
- 5:25Speaker 4: enough times. I think I saw all three of them
- 5:27Speaker 4: in theaters, and I remember the fourth not being that good,
- 5:30Speaker 4: and then now I'll mention the fifth movie, and I
- 5:32Speaker 4: was like, there was a fifth movie.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Shit.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Well, let's let's hope your teammate knows a little bit more.
- 5:40Speaker 1: He is a podcasters Story Della and GM of the
- 5:43Speaker 1: award winning TTRPG show No Quest for the Wicked, where
- 5:47Speaker 1: campaign two is just kicking off, so it's a great
- 5:49Speaker 1: time to hop on board. And sure he's also sexy
- 5:53Speaker 1: and positive. It's Dane Miller.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Oh hi, Madies, Oh hi o.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Hi, how you doing Dane. It's good to have you back.
- 6:01Speaker 4: It's always a pleasure to be here and I'm doing well.
- 6:04Speaker 4: I'm I'm good, I'm I'm juiced up, I'm ready to go.
- 6:10Speaker 4: I'm not gonna say much like Nile's wetness, I'm not explaining.
- 6:14Speaker 1: That, Dane. Did you know there was a fifth movie?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Can you helped Drew out here?
- 6:20Speaker 4: I did much like I do when uh don't get
- 6:25Speaker 4: too excited about much, much like I did whenever I'm
- 6:28Speaker 4: on gate Leapers, I go onto YouTube and I type
- 6:30Speaker 4: in quickest recap of whatever yep, and so I have.
- 6:36Speaker 4: I have the Coles notes, and I believe the fifth
- 6:39Speaker 4: one is about Actually, I'm not gonna say anything. I'm
- 6:41Speaker 4: not gonna give an answer away. Give me information about it, yeah,
- 6:46Speaker 4: don't help. Give you your partner some Yeah, well when
- 6:50Speaker 4: it when it comes up, I will Yeah. Parts of
- 6:52Speaker 4: the Caribbean had a weird hold on people in the
- 6:55Speaker 4: sense that I don't think you are alone, Audra, and
- 6:58Speaker 4: people who went to see this movie multiple times, like
- 7:02Speaker 4: I think I think everyone knows someone who went to
- 7:05Speaker 4: go see this movie like repeatedly. I was too busy
- 7:11Speaker 4: hooked on the two thousand and one book, Sister of
- 7:13Speaker 4: the Traveling Pants.
- 7:17Speaker 3: You didn't even say the title right of the Traveling Pants,
- 7:22Speaker 3: isn't it. Didn't you just say sister of the Travelers?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Do you think?
- 7:26Speaker 3: I do think?
- 7:27Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that was the prequel before there was more
- 7:29Speaker 4: than it was. Just it was weird because it was
- 7:31Speaker 4: just one woman with a pair of pants.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Oh that's not as fun real ones now. Yes, but yeah,
- 7:38Speaker 1: we're talking like early two thousands, aren't we that's the era, awearing.
- 7:41Speaker 1: That's when Pirates the Caribbean all kicked off. That's when
- 7:44Speaker 1: Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants all kicked off. And that's
- 7:46Speaker 1: when a third event that we all know.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Happened even overlap more than you expect.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I'll explain it in the show notes. Read the show
- 7:57Speaker 1: notes and you'll understand what's happening to show.
- 7:59Speaker 3: The are gonna take thirty minutes to read shoes, I
- 8:03Speaker 3: can imagine. I wonder who's on this episode two thousand
- 8:06Speaker 3: and one? What the hell? Drew?
- 8:11Speaker 1: Do you have any special memories of Pirates of the
- 8:12Speaker 1: Caribbean back in the day, other than not being aware
- 8:15Speaker 1: of the fifth film?
- 8:15Speaker 4: I mean the first three I really did love. I
- 8:18Speaker 4: saw them quite a few times. I was dating a
- 8:20Speaker 4: girl at the time who was really into them, So
- 8:22Speaker 4: it was a regular like comfort watch around for the
- 8:25Speaker 4: two of us. I remember seeing the fourth. I'm fairly
- 8:28Speaker 4: sure I did a scene in theaters and just being
- 8:29Speaker 4: very underwhelmed as as nou shit. Yes, to the point
- 8:35Speaker 4: where I can't remember what the plot it was. Hopefully
- 8:37Speaker 4: I'll be reminded if I need to. I feel like
- 8:39Speaker 4: I only I remember was there was no plot, it
- 8:41Speaker 4: was just the here's some antics that are pirate adjacent. Yeah,
- 8:46Speaker 4: the first three do hold a good place in my heart.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I do.
- 8:48Speaker 4: I do miss them and I'm du ver rewatch probably,
- 8:50Speaker 4: So maybe after this I'll be reminded why I want to,
- 8:53Speaker 4: or I'll feel I need to out of shame.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah, one of those two paths will emerge. Yeah, but
- 8:58Speaker 1: either way it will lead to a pirate So the
- 8:59Speaker 1: car be an original trilogy. Rewatch. So I think you win.
- 9:02Speaker 3: The only track the only movies.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Okay, Teams, You've arrived at a new port with nothing
- 9:10Speaker 1: but a compass that doesn't point north. How useful can
- 9:13Speaker 1: that be? But before ye can gather yee crew, ye
- 9:15Speaker 1: and ye first mate, YE need to gather yee crew
- 9:18Speaker 1: under one flag yee and think of the Pirates of
- 9:22Speaker 1: the Caribbean themed team name please. So let's start with
- 9:25Speaker 1: Ordra and Nile. What ideas do you have?
- 9:27Speaker 3: Do you want to kick us off? Arger?
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yes, I have a few.
- 9:32Speaker 4: I'm very excited because these are every time I've been
- 9:35Speaker 4: on the show with you guys, exceptionally cursed.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Yes, so you too have a naming convention history, do
- 9:42Speaker 3: you uphold? Oh? Fuck, I've got one. It might be
- 9:49Speaker 3: the worst yet. And I mean not even worse in
- 9:51Speaker 3: a good way, just worst in a like Film four
- 9:53Speaker 3: kind of way.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Let's let's say the one that's off the back of
- 9:56Speaker 1: the conventions first.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I think, I know, I think it needs to be last.
- 9:59Speaker 3: I want here.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, we'll just like go through all of my
- 10:04Speaker 2: ones that we're not gonna use Jack of All Trades,
- 10:08Speaker 2: Master of Rum, really bad eggs. Yeah, tour two gu
- 10:14Speaker 2: but like the number two. And I just also wrote
- 10:17Speaker 2: down at the end of the word savvy. I don't
- 10:20Speaker 2: know where I was going with that.
- 10:22Speaker 3: I like that, should I start with my terrible one
- 10:24Speaker 3: that is our naming convention, or should I end with that?
- 10:28Speaker 1: Let's end with the naming convention.
- 10:30Speaker 3: I was thinking either the heave Hose or the Heave Bros,
- 10:36Speaker 3: depending on how we want to go with that.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I didn't include a slutty one, and so that does
- 10:41Speaker 2: fulfill a brief for me.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Yeah, that's good. Jack's Little Peanuts. Anyone remembers the pivotal
- 10:50Speaker 3: Peanuts scene from movie three.
- 10:53Speaker 1: It's a good reference. It's a deep coat, but it's
- 10:55Speaker 1: a good reference.
- 10:55Speaker 3: I yelled that one at me before I went up,
- 10:58Speaker 3: so that this is her contribution. I can't take. It's
- 11:00Speaker 3: a very good one. And then I was thinking, bear
- 11:04Speaker 3: with me for this one.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Okay, I'm holding all.
- 11:08Speaker 3: It's not great. Are Stranger Niles like stranger ties? Yeah,
- 11:15Speaker 3: a stranger No.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Nile is like a river, so it makes me think
- 11:21Speaker 1: of wag.
- 11:24Speaker 2: It makes sense. It's hard. It was hard for me
- 11:27Speaker 2: to say that.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I almost went with like Curse Odra Black Dial, but
- 11:32Speaker 3: that sounds weird. Yeah, white sounds like I'm weirder, Like
- 11:37Speaker 3: I'm playing into it now, it's not just you know,
- 11:40Speaker 3: so those are mine.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Well, it's still despite the fact that it's so forced
- 11:45Speaker 1: that it's still my personal favorite.
- 11:47Speaker 2: But oh absolutely was the one I popped for. So yes,
- 11:52Speaker 2: Stranger Niles, Yes you gotta do it. We gotta do
- 11:57Speaker 2: Stranger Nile. The worst movie movie I love any team
- 12:05Speaker 2: name where I can buzz in just saying my name.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's easy to remember. That's great for me.
- 12:12Speaker 1: It's a good system. Sorry, I was drinking rum.
- 12:15Speaker 3: I'm almost out of my first class of room. Actually,
- 12:17Speaker 3: where where has all the rum gone?
- 12:22Speaker 1: And other quotes, hundred strange denials keeping the convention going.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I love it. Let's find out who they're going to
- 12:29Speaker 1: be facing Drew Dane.
- 12:30Speaker 3: I got a few, Dan, What you got a few?
- 12:32Speaker 3: You got me?
- 12:33Speaker 4: Hey, I've only got one and it sucks incredibly bad.
- 12:38Speaker 4: And and and we'll we'll just brush mine under under
- 12:43Speaker 4: the rug I've got. I've got three for myself and
- 12:46Speaker 4: the one from the partner as well. So my three were, uh,
- 12:48Speaker 4: the flying butch Men, nice playing off that old you
- 12:54Speaker 4: Wouldn't download a car piracy ad? The you wouldn't pirate
- 12:58Speaker 4: a ship? The one that I just hit me, and
- 13:02Speaker 4: I was like, this is bad, but I'm gonna have
- 13:04Speaker 4: to say it for the sheer sec of a pun.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Curse of the Black Eyed Peas technically a pun. Maybe
- 13:10Speaker 4: I wish the Black Eyed Peas were in the fourth movie.
- 13:13Speaker 4: I might have said, I was imagine asking another piratecruld
- 13:16Speaker 4: be great well, Fergie's name is she's a ka as
- 13:19Speaker 4: the Duchess, which does sound like it would fandine in
- 13:22Speaker 4: the period of the time.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Yeah duchess. Yeah uh.
- 13:27Speaker 4: And then the one my partner provided was the Jacked
- 13:30Speaker 4: Sparrows Bunch of buff Birds. So I took a page
- 13:36Speaker 4: at a Niles book and I tried to my my
- 13:40Speaker 4: little my little name tag is a hint at where
- 13:43Speaker 4: I'm going with this, and I came up with Danny
- 13:47Speaker 4: Jones Druker.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Oh sold sold.
- 13:56Speaker 1: I loved.
- 14:00Speaker 2: This is great sor that I feel in my heart.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Jones, Danny Jones is fat. That's not the part I
- 14:09Speaker 1: have a problem.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Was like, what.
- 14:15Speaker 1: So, Danny Jones Drooker. Okay, well we've got orders Stranger
- 14:22Speaker 1: Niles versus Classic Danny Jones Drooker.
- 14:27Speaker 2: I love that you have to say these over and over.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Okay, it's gonna be a it's gonna be a fun record,
- 14:34Speaker 1: but it's gonna be a one where I get my
- 14:36Speaker 1: words messed.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Up and you can blame it on the rum I can.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Which I'm going to have another sip of right now.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I feel like I need to be more rummed.
- 14:45Speaker 3: I'll join It's got a.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Perfect opportunity to drink right now, because if you're listening
- 14:49Speaker 1: to this and thinking, ah, I checked out of pirate movies,
- 14:52Speaker 1: have to cut through. Island Mate already been mentioned. But
- 14:55Speaker 1: it's there. Worry not, Here's order with a little segment
- 14:58Speaker 1: we like to call pass knowledge.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Pirates of the Caribbean is a film series produced by
- 15:04Speaker 2: Jerry Bruckheimer based on Walt Disney's theme park attraction of
- 15:07Speaker 2: the same name. The film's plots are set primarily in
- 15:10Speaker 2: the Caribbean, based on the fictionalized version of the Golden
- 15:14Speaker 2: Age of piracy. Oh shit, fictionalized? Were these not documentaries?
- 15:20Speaker 1: Wait? What?
- 15:20Speaker 2: The films capture the magic of the era and also
- 15:24Speaker 2: the magic of the era with a heavy emphasis on
- 15:28Speaker 2: supernatural elements. The series heavily centers on supernatural lore, such
- 15:33Speaker 2: as cursed pirate treasure Davy Jones and his undead crew
- 15:37Speaker 2: and their almost uncanny ability to portray Johnny Depp as
- 15:41Speaker 2: a likable man.
- 15:43Speaker 1: So supernaturally.
- 15:45Speaker 2: The series boasts a star studded cast along with Depp
- 15:49Speaker 2: that includes Geoffrey Rush, Kira Knightley, Orlando Bloom and Bill
- 15:53Speaker 2: Nyi in like a Green Onesie covered head to toe
- 15:56Speaker 2: in ping pong balls, while pirates have and in pop
- 16:00Speaker 2: culture since well the Golden age of piracy. Their cultural
- 16:04Speaker 2: stock has never been higher. The Pirates of the Caribbean
- 16:08Speaker 2: inspired everyone in one way or another. I've bought a
- 16:11Speaker 2: pirate hat in high school and Bob Iger adopt the
- 16:14Speaker 2: philosophy of take what you can and give nothing back. Oh,
- 16:18Speaker 2: it looks like you want me to keep going with
- 16:20Speaker 2: the monologue. Well, I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request,
- 16:25Speaker 2: So let's parlay and play fandemonium.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Thank you, Audre. Just before we get Since today's games,
- 16:30Speaker 1: I've asked each player to bring in amuse something that
- 16:33Speaker 1: inspires them or something they love from this particular fandom.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Drinks rum. Pirates of the Caribbean is inspiring to me
- 16:41Speaker 1: because it offers the slim possibility that one day I
- 16:44Speaker 1: could be half human, half crab, and how simple my
- 16:47Speaker 1: life would be. Okay, Dre, we'll start with you. What's
- 16:51Speaker 1: inspiring you from the world of Potka.
- 16:53Speaker 4: I I mean I kind of want to go with
- 16:56Speaker 4: carsonization now, the fact that everything evolves naturally into crabs,
- 17:01Speaker 4: but I'll let you keep that one. And for me
- 17:03Speaker 4: it will be the fact that there is something to
- 17:05Speaker 4: me that is so weirdly charming about this franchise being
- 17:08Speaker 4: based off a theme park ride that is just like
- 17:13Speaker 4: it's still to this day, like you said it in
- 17:14Speaker 4: the recap and I was like, oh right, that's a thing.
- 17:17Speaker 4: And they've done several of those Haunted Mansion. I think
- 17:21Speaker 4: they tried doing another one for like the Tower of Terror.
- 17:29Speaker 4: There's there's so many, pretty much like any live action
- 17:31Speaker 4: Disney movies. I'm pretty sure a ride is that not
- 17:36Speaker 4: just based off I'm waiting for movie. But the actual
- 17:41Speaker 4: inspiration though, is the idea that an improv scene can
- 17:43Speaker 4: be birth from any stupid idea that like, it doesn't
- 17:46Speaker 4: matter how bizarre the thing you start with is if
- 17:49Speaker 4: you really want to make something, you can make it.
- 17:52Speaker 4: So as much as yes, they had Disney backing them
- 17:55Speaker 4: and big name celebrities to make it happen, the fact
- 17:58Speaker 4: that we have a successful trilogy of movies and two
- 18:01Speaker 4: less successful Little Brother movies that came from an amusement
- 18:05Speaker 4: park ride is just baffling and wonderful to me.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Totally to yeah, to be fed to them. They didn't
- 18:11Speaker 1: have a ton to go off of. I think it
- 18:12Speaker 1: was like ten soundbites that were played on the ride
- 18:15Speaker 1: and a few different faces skeletons. Yeah, and that was it,
- 18:20Speaker 1: And it was like, go ahead, craft a blockbuster hit
- 18:23Speaker 1: out of that, and they did.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Yeah, they fucking delivered.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Seriously good job. Jerry Jerry Brucknheimer's face, by the way,
- 18:34Speaker 1: something you should check out.
- 18:36Speaker 2: But I have to know loud, you can't just throw
- 18:41Speaker 2: that in here.
- 18:42Speaker 3: It's just like one of those either like or super
- 18:45Speaker 3: jacked up.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Well, it's that he's like eighty five or something, but
- 18:48Speaker 1: he has the face of like a thirty year old
- 18:50Speaker 1: because of so much crazy surgery.
- 18:53Speaker 4: That's very Yeah.
- 18:57Speaker 2: He looks like he could blink his lips.
- 19:00Speaker 4: I feel like if he were in the background of Labyrinth,
- 19:03Speaker 4: like I would just believe he was meant to be there.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Yes, he looks like he's afflicted by some kind of
- 19:09Speaker 3: Caribbean based curse.
- 19:12Speaker 1: And he has to make five Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
- 19:15Speaker 3: And don't put him in direct moonlight or it gets worse.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Very inspiring dream. They pulled something out of nothing, and
- 19:22Speaker 1: that's that's always inspiring. If we can if we can
- 19:24Speaker 1: also do that in all walks of lives. All right,
- 19:27Speaker 1: let's move on over to your sorry Danny Jones, Druka, Teammates,
- 19:38Speaker 1: The Sensible Hot Rolls up the Tongue.
- 19:43Speaker 4: I am a huge action adventure fan, and in my opinion,
- 19:47Speaker 4: the nineties were like the height of that. That was
- 19:50Speaker 4: sort of like the golden age of action adventure was
- 19:52Speaker 4: nineties movies. And I guess like you know in the
- 19:56Speaker 4: eighties as well, with like Indiana Jones and the Goonies
- 20:00Speaker 4: and like you know, all those movies of like these
- 20:02Speaker 4: big set pieces and big action but also like a fun,
- 20:06Speaker 4: quirky main character who's going against the odds. And I
- 20:10Speaker 4: feel like the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were sort
- 20:12Speaker 4: of like the last kind of dying breath before we
- 20:16Speaker 4: kind of like lost that and we went into sort
- 20:18Speaker 4: of like the jj Abrams, Michael bay Lens flares and
- 20:21Speaker 4: explosions route and less about like big set pieces that
- 20:24Speaker 4: is character driven. And I will, like to this day,
- 20:28Speaker 4: I think everyone if you mentioned Pirates of the Caribbean,
- 20:31Speaker 4: people are probably going to think of the wheel like
- 20:35Speaker 4: sequence in the second one. I think of them like
- 20:37Speaker 4: escaping from the tribe, the Cannibals, whatever they're running from.
- 20:43Speaker 4: It's like one of the coolest things in a movie.
- 20:45Speaker 4: It's like such a cool action piece and it was
- 20:48Speaker 4: so inventive, like everything even like in the first one
- 20:50Speaker 4: with our fighting in the blacksmith Shop, like the choreography
- 20:53Speaker 4: of the of the action was inspired. And now I
- 20:57Speaker 4: feel like it takes a lot like it's it's rare
- 21:01Speaker 4: that you get an action movie that actually seems to
- 21:03Speaker 4: like give a shit about doing something new. And that's
- 21:07Speaker 4: that's my muse is these were the dwindling ages of
- 21:11Speaker 4: like inventive action adventure.
- 21:14Speaker 1: That he is an excellent muse.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Yes, I love it. I was going to if you
- 21:18Speaker 2: didn't call out the fight sequence in the Blacksmiths, the
- 21:21Speaker 2: fact that the music is done with the like sword clinking,
- 21:27Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, as a child, that blew
- 21:30Speaker 2: my mind, and rewatching it as a like woman in
- 21:33Speaker 2: her thirties blew my mind again. It was so thoughtful.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Oh it is action. It is to this day still
- 21:41Speaker 4: one to be like top ten like sword fights in media,
- 21:43Speaker 4: if not like top three.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Maybe it's like everything they did their action was intentional. Yeah,
- 21:48Speaker 3: it was super fun. You learn so much about all
- 21:50Speaker 3: the characters in that sequence and even just like the
- 21:53Speaker 3: bit with the donkey so good. You know what I mean,
- 21:55Speaker 3: it's so small, but it's so good.
- 21:58Speaker 1: The character driven nature of the action, like you said,
- 22:00Speaker 1: is what made it special. We rewatched it this past
- 22:03Speaker 1: week and I went into the first movie going ready
- 22:06Speaker 1: to be cynical about it and be like, oh, I
- 22:08Speaker 1: bet this hasn't aged that well. It staged brilliantly, and
- 22:11Speaker 1: I was most impressed by how many characters' motivations they
- 22:14Speaker 1: managed to get across in one single movie. It's like,
- 22:18Speaker 1: there are so many secondary characters even where you're like, Okay,
- 22:21Speaker 1: I know what you're about, what your goals are based
- 22:23Speaker 1: on the the action and the high jinks that you're
- 22:25Speaker 1: getting up to.
- 22:26Speaker 3: And it's very seamless too.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Yeah mm hmm.
- 22:30Speaker 2: And the action makes sense because of the motivations, you
- 22:32Speaker 2: know where all these pieces are. It just feels so
- 22:35Speaker 2: much more satisfying.
- 22:37Speaker 3: And at no point do they not make it both
- 22:39Speaker 3: ridiculous and fun. Yeah, you know, they like a fucking movie. Yeah.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Being able to go over the top but still feel
- 22:46Speaker 4: grounded is a talent and a lost art.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Also, those cg is pretty fucking good, Like apart from
- 22:52Speaker 3: the one the one part where Geoffrey resh is like
- 22:55Speaker 3: it kind of zooms in on him talking as a skill,
- 22:57Speaker 3: and then it's like kind of made like when they're
- 23:00Speaker 3: having the sword fight going in and out of the moonlight,
- 23:02Speaker 3: like that's actually seems Yeah, I was really surprised. I
- 23:06Speaker 3: did not think that would hold up.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Very inspiring, Dane, very good stuff. Let's see what's inspiring
- 23:11Speaker 1: Oldra Stranger, Niles. Let's start with Nile. What's inspiring you?
- 23:17Speaker 3: I don't think now is the best time, And I'm
- 23:20Speaker 3: not saying new to your request. I'm talking about the
- 23:22Speaker 3: song guys from the third movie Hans Zimmer. My boy,
- 23:26Speaker 3: M like the music. The fucking music is absolutely and
- 23:31Speaker 3: utterly insane, and I love it so much. I used
- 23:33Speaker 3: to listen to I don't think Now is the best
- 23:35Speaker 3: time before exams in university to get myself hype, and
- 23:38Speaker 3: I still do on occasion to get myself pumped about things.
- 23:42Speaker 3: It's a fucking incredible song. Almost all of them are.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Some of them are not as exciting to listen to
- 23:47Speaker 3: an isolation, but that's fine that you have a purpose
- 23:50Speaker 3: in the movie. Yeah, I think just the Hans Zimmer
- 23:53Speaker 3: soundtrack is just absolutely mind blowing.
- 23:57Speaker 1: So, yeah, music is the most inspiring thing in puiform.
- 24:02Speaker 1: How can you, Like, what else can I say here?
- 24:04Speaker 1: Like the music is from the moment, it hits as
- 24:07Speaker 1: soon as Jack Sparrow is arriving. At that moment, it's
- 24:09Speaker 1: like we're on a it's that the music is taken
- 24:12Speaker 1: on is on as much of a ride as anything else.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it is iconic.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm trying to think of like a theme from
- 24:19Speaker 4: a other than like I would say maybe the Avengers
- 24:22Speaker 4: theme from the Marvel movies.
- 24:24Speaker 3: I don't know if.
- 24:24Speaker 4: There's like a a music theme that is stuck with
- 24:29Speaker 4: me since.
- 24:30Speaker 3: I could probably like four and it would be like
- 24:34Speaker 3: tree that I fucking love, which would be the Avengers theme,
- 24:37Speaker 3: the like the Rohan theme from Lord of the Rings
- 24:40Speaker 3: and a lot of the Lord of the Rings shit
- 24:42Speaker 3: to be fair, uh empires to Caribbean, and then like
- 24:45Speaker 3: Harry Potter, but like it's it's more recognizable than it
- 24:49Speaker 3: is hype, you know what I mean, Like the do
- 24:51Speaker 3: Do Do Do Do? Like I don't listen to that
- 24:53Speaker 3: and like do an exam after I listen to Potter.
- 24:58Speaker 4: I was gonna say, like I can think of like
- 24:59Speaker 4: one or two. They're like obviously good soundtracks, but they're.
- 25:02Speaker 3: All Hans Zimmer. So yeah, I just strengthened your point. Yeah,
- 25:08Speaker 3: one day he'll get his due. One day he'll be recognized.
- 25:12Speaker 3: He is right now, and what more could you ask for?
- 25:17Speaker 4: A single tear has just rolled down Hans's eyes and
- 25:19Speaker 4: he doesn't know why, but someone has finally appreciated his work,
- 25:24Speaker 4: looking at the empty space on the shelf next to
- 25:26Speaker 4: all of his other I'm sure dozens of the trophies
- 25:29Speaker 4: for shows, being like, no, I'm good now, this is it?
- 25:33Speaker 4: The one just labeled podcast mentioned on podcast?
- 25:41Speaker 2: He doesn't care which one.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I'll take a Medioca game show podcast.
- 25:46Speaker 3: He just scrawls Oudre Stranger Niles in the.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Dust and when his buddies found the detectives don't know
- 25:53Speaker 1: what to make about it.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Coming for us ad can I come to Canada? Yes,
- 26:00Speaker 3: they're all, well please let's go.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, Yeah we actually neat that right now. Yeah, well,
- 26:06Speaker 1: before Audre is killed or flees to Canada. What's inspiring
- 26:11Speaker 1: more Pirates of the Caribbean both.
- 26:14Speaker 2: I am inspired by a pirate that was briefly kind
- 26:18Speaker 2: of alluded to in the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
- 26:24Speaker 2: She Yang is a pirate god to me, if you
- 26:30Speaker 2: look up specifically, like who is the wealthiest pirate. It'll
- 26:34Speaker 2: be some pirate who had like, oh, he had a
- 26:37Speaker 2: couple ships and he captured fifty ships. Whatever. No, she
- 26:43Speaker 2: young my queen. She was a former prostitute who switched
- 26:48Speaker 2: to piracy. Was so successful at piracy. At one point
- 26:53Speaker 2: in time, she had a fleet of four hundred ships
- 26:57Speaker 2: and she was the captain of her favorite twenty five.
- 27:00Speaker 2: She was so much of a terror on just the
- 27:04Speaker 2: seas outside of China that she basically invented the passport
- 27:09Speaker 2: system because she girl bossed so hard that she's like, okay, cool,
- 27:15Speaker 2: so I basically own all but four of the two
- 27:19Speaker 2: hundred main salt ships that are going here. I'll just
- 27:24Speaker 2: sell a subscription service. I'll just do MLM, And so
- 27:28Speaker 2: if you had one of her passports, you could pass
- 27:31Speaker 2: safely through her waters. She's not listed as the most
- 27:37Speaker 2: rich pirate because she was so powerful that the government
- 27:42Speaker 2: was like, yeah, you run the tax office, now, I
- 27:46Speaker 2: guess you win.
- 27:48Speaker 1: They legitimized that.
- 27:49Speaker 2: They just legitimized her as no longer a pirate. She
- 27:54Speaker 2: just won and then retired to run a casino.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Kids always do crime. Yeah, I love this, but I'm
- 28:05Speaker 3: also really sad that maybe the invention of passports, MLMs
- 28:08Speaker 3: and subscription services, we'll see.
- 28:12Speaker 2: But the others she had like wildly phenomenal rules of
- 28:17Speaker 2: like well for pirates, like if you stole women, if
- 28:22Speaker 2: they were touched, you would be publicly executed on the
- 28:26Speaker 2: on the ship. And if they agreed to, if one
- 28:29Speaker 2: of the women agreed to, you could marry them. But
- 28:32Speaker 2: if they caught you cheating, they could publicly execute you.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 2: And so it was just intensive and everyone was having
- 28:40Speaker 2: a great time.
- 28:42Speaker 1: It's weird.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Yes, subscription service is stuck, but not the public execution.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Oh my god, you can bring those back.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Yeah, just public executions for sexual assault. Let's go for it.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah, bring it back. Bring by piracy. Honestly, honestly
- 28:57Speaker 1: he's still going.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Yeah, you two very car.
- 29:04Speaker 1: You wouldn't download a car he did.
- 29:06Speaker 3: I could I find Pirates of the Caribbean on my
- 29:09Speaker 3: streaming services?
- 29:10Speaker 1: No, So yeah, that's all I'll say. We'll leave it
- 29:14Speaker 1: at the ord. Very inspiring, not directly Pirates of the Caribbean,
- 29:19Speaker 1: but the link there through the character in the third movie. Yes,
- 29:24Speaker 1: that's one with the pieces of egg in the count Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 29:28Speaker 1: Well I'm very inspired. Are we already for some games?
- 29:30Speaker 3: Hell?
- 29:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah right me heart ease, which is just a
- 29:34Speaker 1: masculine way of saying my loves if you think about.
- 29:36Speaker 3: It, Oh, can we bring that back?
- 29:39Speaker 1: Yeah, my loves. Let's unfil the topsail, make ready the rigging,
- 29:44Speaker 1: and turn that big wheel with all the handles as
- 29:47Speaker 1: we set sail onto the choppy seas of Round one.
- 29:50Speaker 1: You all know what I'm talking about. That big wheel
- 29:52Speaker 1: that's on all the ships. Round one is called I
- 29:59Speaker 1: am dB trivia, which this time stands for Islam. The
- 30:04Speaker 1: balloon's bloodied, there's a there's a little connective in there,
- 30:11Speaker 1: just some classic trivia stuff to start us off. I
- 30:14Speaker 1: have here a board with six words on it.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Are they going to be as raunchy as last time?
- 30:19Speaker 1: One of them is pretty raunchy. I'd say Skin's pretty raunchy,
- 30:22Speaker 1: but not too much else launchy there, maybe twins, I
- 30:27Speaker 1: don't know, depends what you're into.
- 30:29Speaker 4: Honestly, it's it's the trying to figure out what these
- 30:31Speaker 4: can all link to, because most of them seem pretty
- 30:33Speaker 4: self evident. But Beatles felt that way is very misleading.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Mmm mm hmmmmmm. Well let's find out because each word
- 30:41Speaker 1: corresponds to a related multiple choice question. Team by team
- 30:45Speaker 1: will pick words until all six words are gone from
- 30:48Speaker 1: the board. Easy mate, So we're going to begin with
- 30:52Speaker 1: order stranger Niles.
- 30:55Speaker 3: That's too skin.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Yeah, hell yeah, I feel like and with skin we're
- 30:58Speaker 1: on the stick.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Got it?
- 30:59Speaker 1: Yeah, We've got Okay, here's your question about skin. How
- 31:04Speaker 1: was the texture of Davy Jones skin produced by the
- 31:07Speaker 1: VFX team? Is it A by scanning dirty terra cotta
- 31:12Speaker 1: coffee cups, B by scanning tiny antique jade elephants, or
- 31:18Speaker 1: C by scanning live marianas OCTOPI on a catch and
- 31:23Speaker 1: release based system.
- 31:28Speaker 2: He doesn't remember this, but I did watch the appendices.
- 31:32Speaker 2: If appendices were on were available to me as a youth,
- 31:36Speaker 2: I did watch them. But I have no memory of this.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Like C seems the most obvious and therefore a trap. Hm,
- 31:43Speaker 3: I can't imagine. Yeah, but it was cat release. They
- 31:48Speaker 3: were cool. Imagine it and then I'm gonna treat two.
- 31:54Speaker 3: The terracotta coffee cups sounds so bizarre that maybe it's true,
- 31:58Speaker 3: or am I being misled? Might be Jack sparrows right.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Now, I do think that like the terracotta coffee cup
- 32:06Speaker 2: feels like the most reasonably peculia.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Why would why would a coffee cup be terra cotta?
- 32:12Speaker 3: Surely it would be a mug.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 32:15Speaker 3: I don't know. Uh, okay, what.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Do you think I am thinking? I am leaning towards
- 32:20Speaker 2: coffee cup or just actual octopus.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Let's just do actual octopus.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Fuck it, Yeah, let's do it.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Let's do it. He was one kind of.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Yeah, skin skin, The answer is octopus. The actor is
- 32:33Speaker 1: actual octopus, except it's not. It was a trap, and
- 32:39Speaker 1: it is the dirty terracotta coffee cup.
- 32:41Speaker 4: I knew what, but surprising I would have guessed the
- 32:45Speaker 4: jade because of how shiny he is.
- 32:47Speaker 1: It's very shiny.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Is a very shiny.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Kind of picture that like the like the grounds of coffee,
- 32:53Speaker 4: the bottom of terra cotta pot when you like when
- 32:54Speaker 4: you like brew the coffee, that like like wet dirt
- 32:57Speaker 4: kind of thing. I can kind of see that being
- 32:59Speaker 4: like his texture.
- 33:00Speaker 3: I'm not gonna lie. I'm I'm very distracted. All I've
- 33:04Speaker 3: wanted to do since we started the podcast is is
- 33:06Speaker 3: yell out a quote. And I thought you were gonna
- 33:09Speaker 3: yell it out, and then you didn't, and then I
- 33:10Speaker 3: was like should I yelled out, but then it wasn't time,
- 33:12Speaker 3: and that's all I can think of and it doesn't
- 33:14Speaker 3: make sense anymore.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Well, do you want to just yell out now? I
- 33:17Speaker 1: don't know.
- 33:17Speaker 2: I'll validate you.
- 33:18Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll all respond no now.
- 33:21Speaker 3: The time, Yeah yeah, I all say it for the
- 33:24Speaker 3: right time. But now when I do it, you gotta respond.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Just put that check yeah yeah, yeah.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we're on so.
- 33:33Speaker 3: Check.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Okay. Here are the remaining five words for Danny Jones's Dane.
- 33:43Speaker 4: Do any of them speak to you? You've got me
- 33:47Speaker 4: boggling beetle. Same, I just I need to know what
- 33:49Speaker 4: the question is to kill me.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Let's buggle that beetle. Here is the question to do
- 33:53Speaker 1: with beetle? In Dead Men Tell No Tales, Paul McCartney
- 33:57Speaker 1: plays Jack Sparrow's uncle. But which Beatles song is he
- 34:01Speaker 1: seen singing to himself? Is it a Yellow Submarine, B
- 34:07Speaker 1: Octopus's Garden or C. Maggie may I.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Have an inkling purely off logic. Okay, I feel like
- 34:15Speaker 4: Maggie May. I feel like yellow Submarine would be too
- 34:17Speaker 4: out of place if anyone picked up because submarines don't
- 34:21Speaker 4: exists yes, that's the reason, because yellow is a weird
- 34:23Speaker 4: colored for them. And then I don't think any of
- 34:26Speaker 4: the Beatles, including Ringo, would be caught dead singing octopusy
- 34:29Speaker 4: Garden if they can avoid it. As someone who and
- 34:32Speaker 4: this is gonna get me in a lot of trouble.
- 34:33Speaker 3: You're a fan of that song too, aren't you.
- 34:36Speaker 4: I know I'm not a big fan of the Beatles,
- 34:39Speaker 4: so and so I'm going to defer to you if
- 34:48Speaker 4: you think it's Maggie May. I feel like it's certainly
- 34:52Speaker 4: not Yellow Submarine in my opinion, unless the joke is
- 34:55Speaker 4: haha submarines don't exist yet. What a silly song for
- 34:58Speaker 4: a drunken pirate to be singing. But I will defer
- 35:02Speaker 4: to you to Maggie May. I also feel like it
- 35:03Speaker 4: was either of the other two. It would be a
- 35:05Speaker 4: war well known fact. And the fact that I had
- 35:07Speaker 4: no idea he was in this, I gotta go with
- 35:09Speaker 4: Maggie May.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Okay, you're going with Maggie May. Yeah, you've not fallen
- 35:14Speaker 1: for the ocean based beetle traps. It is, indeed, Maggie May,
- 35:16Speaker 1: the old lifputley and drinking song.
- 35:19Speaker 3: There you go, Yes, yes, it is a drinking.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Song it is. Indeed, Dan wouldn't know because he doesn't
- 35:24Speaker 1: like the Beatles, But.
- 35:24Speaker 3: No, I know because I like that.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Okay, he's going to be bludgeoned to death after this episode,
- 35:29Speaker 4: our first public execution.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Okay, sweet, that's a that's that's beetle gun. It's gonna
- 35:37Speaker 1: rub it out with my hands like a pirate would.
- 35:40Speaker 3: What hands? They're all hands?
- 35:43Speaker 1: Okay? Oh, just stranger, Niles, what you fancying.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Name is calling me? What's calling you?
- 35:50Speaker 2: I had no instincts whatsoever, So I am going to
- 35:53Speaker 2: just defer.
- 35:54Speaker 3: To We're we're the opposite of Jack Sparrow. Instead of
- 35:58Speaker 3: trying to be captain, we're each like you, like, do
- 36:01Speaker 3: you want.
- 36:03Speaker 1: To a pair of first mates? Very well, get we'll
- 36:14Speaker 1: get to the hook episode. Okay. The question related the name.
- 36:19Speaker 1: In Curse of the Black Pearl, Barbosa doesn't have a
- 36:23Speaker 1: first name, but in At World's End his name is
- 36:27Speaker 1: revealed to be Hector, who gave him this name originally
- 36:30Speaker 1: before it was later canonized by the writers. Is it
- 36:35Speaker 1: a fans on the online message boards, B Johnny Depp
- 36:40Speaker 1: on the DVD commentary, or C Orlando Bloom at Comic Con.
- 36:46Speaker 3: I was really hoping you're gonna ask me what his
- 36:47Speaker 3: name was. That's why I momentarily brightened up.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Ye a little, a little tougher.
- 36:56Speaker 3: I don't think it's fans. I feel like it's too
- 36:58Speaker 3: early for fans message boards.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel yeah too. I guess b or C
- 37:05Speaker 2: I almost a two or three b or C feels
- 37:09Speaker 2: more correct.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Or I don't know.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Why I have some inkling towards it being Orlando.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Bloom because we don't want to say anything about Johnny
- 37:17Speaker 3: Depp because he sucks. I mean, yeah, I like the guy.
- 37:23Speaker 3: I'm sure he's also actually isn't he married to Katie
- 37:25Speaker 3: Perry who sucks you? Or was, or at least was,
- 37:31Speaker 3: Oh thank god. Maybe that's why she's now a Tesla
- 37:34Speaker 3: crazy person and also running space.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Getting blasted into space to get over Orlando Bloom.
- 37:41Speaker 4: To be fair, if I fumbled Orlando Bloom, I would
- 37:44Speaker 4: also want to be launched into space.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Yeah, very very valid. Are we are we going Orlando Bloom?
- 37:52Speaker 3: I'm cool with that. That was my inkling, That was
- 37:55Speaker 3: my instinct.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Going Orlando Bloom at Comic Con. Orlando Bloom don't have
- 38:00Speaker 1: that kind of power. It's Johnny Depp on the commentary
- 38:03Speaker 1: for Curse of the Black Pearl. Yeah, he just he
- 38:05Speaker 1: just improvised. Oh, name's very hector or something, and then
- 38:10Speaker 1: they made it catty. I kind of love that classic Johnny.
- 38:14Speaker 2: If you believe the internet, he improvised so many of
- 38:19Speaker 2: those lines. Did they give Johnny Depp a script? Yeah?
- 38:22Speaker 1: Half half of the trivia or online about Pirates the
- 38:25Speaker 1: Caribbean is Johnny Depp improvised this incredible line. And when
- 38:28Speaker 1: it boils down to it, it's like, well there were
- 38:30Speaker 1: no lines for Jack Sparrow, then are all in this strait?
- 38:32Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 38:33Speaker 1: Okay, so we have three words left. I want to
- 38:36Speaker 1: be Danny Jones'.
- 38:37Speaker 4: I'm going to be strategic here because I'm afraid the
- 38:41Speaker 4: China question may relate to certain pirate queens that Audren
- 38:43Speaker 4: knows lots about. Oh so do we take that away
- 38:47Speaker 4: from them?
- 38:47Speaker 3: Potentially?
- 38:48Speaker 4: Now I'm worried because was I believe the fourth movie
- 38:53Speaker 4: is the one with Cholly on fat as like one
- 38:57Speaker 4: of the main villains, And I'm worried. I don't know anything.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Lets you China, Let's figure it out. Maybe I've solved
- 39:04Speaker 4: the question already by knowing that I believe what's the
- 39:07Speaker 4: villain in that movie?
- 39:08Speaker 1: Maybe that's it. Maybe that's the exact question that I have.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Damn it, Here is your question related to China. Let's
- 39:16Speaker 1: see if it's to do with the lore of the
- 39:18Speaker 1: film or something kind of not related. Why is Pirates
- 39:22Speaker 1: of the Caribbean dead Man's Chest banned in China? Is
- 39:26Speaker 1: it a the frequent depiction of voodoo b the frequent
- 39:30Speaker 1: depiction of cannibalism, or see the infrequent depiction of tortali totalitarianism.
- 39:37Speaker 1: I fuck that up because of the run You wanted
- 39:40Speaker 1: to say tortugas.
- 39:45Speaker 3: I wish we had tortuo guitarianism.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Amen.
- 39:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I know that China is really a big stickler
- 39:53Speaker 4: about like depictions of violence. I like most video games
- 39:57Speaker 4: have to censor out blood completely for the Chinese markets.
- 40:00Speaker 4: The cannibalism one seems like the most logical for that. Yeah,
- 40:05Speaker 4: that that's my gut feeling. Is also cannibalism because of Culturally,
- 40:10Speaker 4: I feel like there is there is a lot of
- 40:12Speaker 4: cultures that have a pretty bad view of cannibalism, and
- 40:17Speaker 4: I imagine a state that has such strong censorship might
- 40:22Speaker 4: respect those those those feelings. So yeah, I think I
- 40:26Speaker 4: think that is where I'm coming from too. So we've
- 40:29Speaker 4: got we've got a feeling in our gut, and the
- 40:31Speaker 4: only answer to that gut feeling is cannibalism.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Correct.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm starving for the right answer here, and I
- 40:38Speaker 4: hope it's human flesh.
- 40:40Speaker 1: All right, time to satiate that need deep within it is. Indeed,
- 40:46Speaker 1: the frequent depiction of cannibalism is the reason it is
- 40:49Speaker 1: banned in China. Gets that's sweet.
- 40:50Speaker 3: I love cannibalism.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Never done me wrong, yet always the right answer.
- 40:59Speaker 4: Well, we'll get back to the subject the Army Hammier episode.
- 41:04Speaker 4: It's weird that they're just the same episode.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Okay, back on over to your order, Stranger, Niles, you face, Audrey. Look,
- 41:18Speaker 1: I'm just getting defeated by it.
- 41:20Speaker 3: It does seem like every time you have to say
- 41:22Speaker 3: one of them, it's like as you're speaking, someone's like
- 41:24Speaker 3: put a hand in your mouth and you have struggle
- 41:26Speaker 3: past that. Yeah, genuinely, I'm glad to have provoked that.
- 41:32Speaker 1: I hope you're all pleased with yourselves.
- 41:34Speaker 2: I am.
- 41:35Speaker 1: We got we got twins at night, Audre.
- 41:37Speaker 3: It's all you I was thinking night, Let's do it.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Here is your question related tonight Kira correct After shooting
- 41:48Speaker 1: entirely on location for most of Curse of the Black Pearl,
- 41:52Speaker 1: why were Island night shoots moved to a studio soundstage?
- 41:58Speaker 1: Is it a Johnny Depp was getting too cold and
- 42:01Speaker 1: quote Johnny can never be too cold? Is it be
- 42:05Speaker 1: repeatedly cloudy weather? And the director Gor Vibinski insisted on
- 42:10Speaker 1: seeing an ominoust full moon in every night scene? Or
- 42:14Speaker 1: is it s Kira Knightley's boat hit a reef and
- 42:17Speaker 1: she was left stranded in the water for two hours.
- 42:21Speaker 4: Oh, this is the first time I've wanted all the
- 42:24Speaker 4: answers to be correct.
- 42:26Speaker 3: ABC.
- 42:29Speaker 2: I feel like something about the moon. I feel like
- 42:33Speaker 2: them it was too cloudy.
- 42:35Speaker 3: I don't but like, could you not still shoot on
- 42:38Speaker 3: location and then just put a moon in as because
- 42:41Speaker 3: you'll be putting the moon in anyway.
- 42:43Speaker 4: Cg entire moon expected that would be huge that you're
- 42:48Speaker 4: mad crazy?
- 42:51Speaker 2: They didn't know it was going to make a billion
- 42:53Speaker 2: dollars yet.
- 42:55Speaker 3: I I think it's either A or C. But A
- 43:00Speaker 3: and C have a similar thread, so maybe B is
- 43:02Speaker 3: the outlier.
- 43:03Speaker 2: But there's also the thing of Kiera Knightley was quite young,
- 43:06Speaker 2: and so they could be like, fuck, we can't.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Yeah, we did almost kill her.
- 43:09Speaker 2: We did almost kill someone who is legally.
- 43:11Speaker 1: But it doesn't make it.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Why would she be stung for two hours? Was she gone?
- 43:15Speaker 3: Did she just go away on a boat? And they
- 43:16Speaker 3: were like, I don't know, Like that doesn't make sense.
- 43:18Speaker 3: Surely they were on hand to be like, oh no,
- 43:21Speaker 3: your boat were right? She using film incredibly method Like
- 43:25Speaker 3: surely if her boat got caught on something, they were
- 43:28Speaker 3: right there with a boom mic being like, well you
- 43:31Speaker 3: can get on this boat. Just use the boom mic
- 43:34Speaker 3: to tow her in, right, Yeah, Like they didn't just
- 43:36Speaker 3: go like a sorry, see you later. I guess, but
- 43:40Speaker 3: I don't know how films work.
- 43:42Speaker 2: I also don't know how films work. Do we want
- 43:45Speaker 2: to go a then if that's what.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Was a I forgot what it was A was Johnny
- 43:50Speaker 3: can never get too cold or whatever? Yes, the thing
- 43:54Speaker 3: you would say, I worry we stray away from Johnny
- 43:57Speaker 3: before because we don't want to say nice things about them,
- 43:59Speaker 3: or or we don't want to consider him. But now
- 44:01Speaker 3: it's a bad thing about him, and now I'm worried
- 44:03Speaker 3: that he's preying on our dislike of Johnny.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Yes, because he'd be like, Oh, they want something bad
- 44:08Speaker 2: about Johnny Depp to be.
- 44:09Speaker 3: True bag quote by Johnny. They're gonna pounce on that.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I definitely thought about it.
- 44:16Speaker 3: I know you have your nightmare of pin and.
- 44:21Speaker 1: How could I psychologically told you my guests.
- 44:23Speaker 3: The exactly exactly we think. Ryle was a sham orchestrated
- 44:28Speaker 3: by man God if he had that power. Jesus, I
- 44:35Speaker 3: actually saw all the movies were commissioned by him too,
- 44:38Speaker 3: just to get us to this point. It's been a
- 44:39Speaker 3: master plan the whole time.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I have no clue, no idea a start.
- 44:48Speaker 3: I'm having too much fun to do good at the game.
- 44:52Speaker 3: All right, let's let's go see. Let's go see.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go see.
- 44:58Speaker 1: You're going with ce Kira Knightley's boat hit a reef
- 45:01Speaker 1: and she was left stranded in the water for two hours.
- 45:06Speaker 1: It is indeed, see that is correct.
- 45:11Speaker 3: What happened? How could this possibly be?
- 45:14Speaker 1: It was her boat returning from the island, and for
- 45:19Speaker 1: whatever reason, it hit a reef and capsized. It wasn't
- 45:22Speaker 1: just her in the water. It was her. It was
- 45:25Speaker 1: her mother and two crew members, and it was they
- 45:28Speaker 1: had life jackets, but they were genuinely floating in the
- 45:30Speaker 1: sea for two hours before someone came and rescued them.
- 45:34Speaker 3: So oh god, it's funnier because I also did yell
- 45:37Speaker 3: car out as the answer prior to this.
- 45:41Speaker 1: I had to keep such a straight face.
- 45:43Speaker 2: I swear if that were me, the ocean would be
- 45:48Speaker 2: like a massive percentage of my vomit because I'm.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Just so stressed throwing up from being in the water.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Yes, I was so stressed.
- 45:59Speaker 4: I thought you were going to threaten the Oceancean.
- 46:07Speaker 3: I'm sorry. If someone wants to threaten me and they
- 46:09Speaker 3: want to tell me a large portion of me will
- 46:11Speaker 3: become their vomit, that's a good threat. I would you
- 46:18Speaker 3: if you're like, I'm going to turn most of you
- 46:19Speaker 3: into my vomit.
- 46:21Speaker 2: I meant every fucking word.
- 46:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna hold up the ford one last time, but
- 46:26Speaker 1: there's almost no need to because you've got twins.
- 46:29Speaker 3: Wins.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Congratulations.
- 46:34Speaker 3: I wish you guys said twins. I don't know which.
- 46:38Speaker 4: Every single pairing seems weird. I'm not going to explain that.
- 46:45Speaker 1: What were the real names of the two parrot performers
- 46:49Speaker 1: who played the bird on Cotton's shoulders? Is it a
- 46:54Speaker 1: chip and saucer, B Peaches and cream, or c cat
- 46:59Speaker 1: and dog.
- 47:01Speaker 3: I love all those so much. Chip and Salsa is
- 47:04Speaker 3: the cutest. It better be cat and dog. Sorry, I shouldn't.
- 47:08Speaker 4: Get I don't know why, but when he said chip
- 47:11Speaker 4: and salsa like it weirdly clicked in a way where
- 47:14Speaker 4: it made sense more than I think it should have.
- 47:16Speaker 4: And I'm not sure if that's just me loving thee
- 47:18Speaker 4: or that I subconsciously heard it somewhere at some point
- 47:21Speaker 4: I got a weird fun fact hole. Yeah, it's tough,
- 47:25Speaker 4: because like I should I get another set of of animals.
- 47:31Speaker 4: I want to name them Tofu and Misoh that's cute, cute,
- 47:36Speaker 4: and so chip and Salsa I think is internally scratching
- 47:40Speaker 4: that itch in my brain. I had an ant with
- 47:43Speaker 4: like two cats called Benson and Hedges, and then two
- 47:46Speaker 4: cats called Gin and Tonic, And I do realize now
- 47:49Speaker 4: maybe those were cries for help. Your ants is incredibly
- 47:53Speaker 4: unwell and leads help.
- 47:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:55Speaker 4: I mean I grew up with a friend around the
- 47:56Speaker 4: corner whose cats were a Scotch, whiskey, rum and beer.
- 48:00Speaker 4: So I mean, really, cats and booze go together, it
- 48:02Speaker 4: seems was beer in the front. I no, I think
- 48:06Speaker 4: it was the old one. Actually think was the first one.
- 48:10Speaker 3: Creative.
- 48:10Speaker 4: I think chips, chip and Salsa just feels good to me,
- 48:15Speaker 4: my brain. I'm going to lock it in to walk
- 48:18Speaker 4: it in. Yeah, it is Chip and Salsas. Those were
- 48:21Speaker 4: the names of the parrots. Good stuff.
- 48:23Speaker 3: I know that. How if I can't.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, if you want to know, Chip was
- 48:29Speaker 1: the one who was very good at sitting still, and
- 48:31Speaker 1: Salsa was the one who did all the tricks, and
- 48:33Speaker 1: they would swap them out based on here they needed.
- 48:35Speaker 2: God, it was like the Ulsen twins.
- 48:39Speaker 4: They were as cute as birds or had as good
- 48:41Speaker 4: names as birds. It makes sense because chips don't really
- 48:44Speaker 4: do anything. It's salsa spicy, So yeah, I get.
- 48:47Speaker 1: It true, bringing all the flavor that nurtures. That's what
- 48:53Speaker 1: I know. Sorry the parrot, It's not at least I've
- 49:02Speaker 1: been accused of being Paul Bettany. This episode is not
- 49:04Speaker 1: the worst thing I've been accused of. Okay, that is
- 49:07Speaker 1: the end of round one, so it's time to count
- 49:10Speaker 1: all of this cursed treasure. I mean the scores, and
- 49:14Speaker 1: the scores are order Stranger Niles one point, Danny Jones,
- 49:19Speaker 1: Druker three points.
- 49:21Speaker 3: You best start believing. In fandom game shows, you're in one.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Yes.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Round two is called mass Tasker. It's the game where
- 49:36Speaker 1: I ask our teams to complete a list of ten
- 49:39Speaker 1: mini challenges against a five minute timer where the challenges
- 49:43Speaker 1: have a strong or vague connection to the Pirates of
- 49:46Speaker 1: the Caribbean movies. When the timer starts, simply name a
- 49:50Speaker 1: number between one and ten in any order. I'll readout
- 49:54Speaker 1: the challenge, and as soon as you complete the challenge,
- 49:56Speaker 1: you'll get a point five minutes on the clock. Let
- 50:00Speaker 1: decide who's going first. Okay, so the team in last
- 50:03Speaker 1: place is Order Stranger Niles. So I'll leave it up
- 50:06Speaker 1: to you. Guys, do you want to go first or second?
- 50:08Speaker 3: We'll go first. Yeah, let's say magically we do all ten.
- 50:13Speaker 3: Do they have a separate ten?
- 50:14Speaker 1: They have a separate ten vague vaguely similar, similar on
- 50:18Speaker 1: the same vein, but different, so they can't fully prepare,
- 50:21Speaker 1: but they could prepare a bit.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Then maybe we go second.
- 50:24Speaker 1: You already said.
- 50:25Speaker 2: First, it, let's go No. I think if you go second,
- 50:28Speaker 2: it just builds the fear.
- 50:30Speaker 3: That's fair. That's fair.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Okay, So are you both ready Order and Nile to play?
- 50:34Speaker 1: Mass tasker. Here we go. I'm going to start the timer.
- 50:37Speaker 1: As soon as it starts, yell out a number three three,
- 50:42Speaker 1: Find some dice, roll them individually until you have four fives,
- 50:49Speaker 1: four four. From this point fourth, both players must talk
- 50:54Speaker 1: like upstanding gentlemen of the British names.
- 50:56Speaker 3: I rolled a six, very good, Keep rolling.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Keep rolling until you have four sixes. No way, four, four, five,
- 51:07Speaker 1: Then you can leave that one.
- 51:08Speaker 3: I have too, five, five, three fives.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Invent the names of five pirates who also have birds
- 51:16Speaker 1: of surnames.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Oh we Hawk, yes, very good, Barnaby Finch also good.
- 51:25Speaker 3: Yes, the sparse Puffin.
- 51:31Speaker 2: And mister Seagull.
- 51:33Speaker 1: I'll take it. That's five. That's the point, good stuff.
- 51:35Speaker 3: I rolled one more five, that's four fives, right, I
- 51:38Speaker 3: have four fives over here.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Then that's the correct point. Nine good sir, nine. Name
- 51:44Speaker 1: three other movies that Orlando Bloom has been in.
- 51:48Speaker 2: Fellowship of the Ring two Towers.
- 51:51Speaker 1: God damn it, I didn't see that, Lepole. Okay, that's
- 51:53Speaker 1: the point.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Seven.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Seven. Act out a scene where you're both Jack Sparrow
- 51:59Speaker 1: impersonators competing to be hired by Disneyland.
- 52:02Speaker 4: Will still being proper upsetting gentlemen, I promise I'll give
- 52:07Speaker 4: you the sword who didn't to.
- 52:11Speaker 2: Go that costure for shillings?
- 52:13Speaker 3: For shillings, my darling, is in fact more than actually
- 52:19Speaker 3: what a thought is. And a thought is not for shillings,
- 52:21Speaker 3: is it not? In which case, therefore I've already paid
- 52:24Speaker 3: you double and you only change.
- 52:26Speaker 2: A silver to you to be gone.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Very good. That's the scene. I'll accept it, very good.
- 52:30Speaker 1: I like how it just evolved into body spasms.
- 52:34Speaker 3: Them.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Eight.
- 52:37Speaker 1: One player must fill a glass with water, drink it
- 52:39Speaker 1: all in front of camera, and then exclaim why is
- 52:42Speaker 1: the rum gone?
- 52:43Speaker 3: Are you near the water?
- 52:45Speaker 2: I'm downstairs?
- 52:47Speaker 1: Run ten Ten one player must draw a picture of
- 52:53Speaker 1: Davy Jones from memory and show it to camera.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Oh Jesus Christ, we know I can't draw.
- 52:59Speaker 3: For I like how.
- 53:02Speaker 1: I like how you're doing it on the same.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yes. And then this is his tricorn hat.
- 53:11Speaker 2: Then he has one in the middle that's not bad.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Actually those are his eyes, and this is his nose,
- 53:18Speaker 2: but that's also covered up by tentacles. That's him.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Nice joy show it's a camera while myles.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Drinking rum gone? Yes, that's okay.
- 53:25Speaker 1: I saw the drawing and I saw the rum, get drinks.
- 53:28Speaker 1: That's good stuff. Okay. Six one player must invent and
- 53:32Speaker 1: perform a full line pirate drinking song.
- 53:37Speaker 2: Let's look, let's do two go back to that.
- 53:40Speaker 1: One one player must say yeah every fifteen seconds for
- 53:44Speaker 1: the rest of the game.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Yeah, motherfucker, do.
- 53:50Speaker 3: We get a next clue while that's happening? Two one one.
- 53:54Speaker 1: One player must find and show an item to the
- 53:56Speaker 1: camera that could bring reasonably connected to the word crack.
- 54:00Speaker 2: Can oh, I can do that?
- 54:02Speaker 3: Y'are?
- 54:02Speaker 1: Fuck You've got You've got fourteen seconds before you have
- 54:06Speaker 1: to yell ya again, Dracus.
- 54:08Speaker 3: Only one person have to say it. Can I yar
- 54:10Speaker 3: for her in her absence?
- 54:12Speaker 1: It's got to be the same person.
- 54:16Speaker 3: Are Yeah?
- 54:17Speaker 1: I had a ya from Uldra that yes, yes, Yes,
- 54:20Speaker 1: that's really fucking good stuff. Y are and yep you're
- 54:24Speaker 1: still saying yah?
- 54:26Speaker 2: And then a drinking song.
- 54:27Speaker 1: I was still looking for the drinking song.
- 54:29Speaker 3: We went out with mister Pigeon. He said he had
- 54:33Speaker 3: rum minim. We said, give us some of that rum.
- 54:35Speaker 3: He said, suck it out of me. Bum's yar.
- 54:43Speaker 1: With a yard at the end. Is there is there
- 54:45Speaker 1: any more numbers?
- 54:46Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 54:48Speaker 3: It's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, told.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Them y are It looks to me like you've done
- 54:57Speaker 1: them all, So I mean, it's just orders saying yah
- 55:01Speaker 1: for the rest of the time.
- 55:04Speaker 2: We can fill the time.
- 55:07Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys could hear me stub
- 55:08Speaker 3: my toe and almost like eat face first into the
- 55:12Speaker 3: wall with a glass of water and also my partner
- 55:14Speaker 3: yelling what's happening. What's happening? Then I don't know what's happening,
- 55:18Speaker 3: but don't spill it because for some reason I thought
- 55:20Speaker 3: I just couldn't explain while I was wrong.
- 55:22Speaker 1: So, okay, you're just getting a yar in there. Yeah
- 55:27Speaker 1: at the end, very good stuff. That was a chaotic
- 55:30Speaker 1: five minutes. But I think, as far as I can tell,
- 55:33Speaker 1: you pulled off nine out of ten. What was the
- 55:35Speaker 1: time you did stop speaking like British? Yeah, that was
- 55:41Speaker 1: for the whole I thought it was.
- 55:43Speaker 3: Just for the rest of that challenge.
- 55:45Speaker 2: I slipped into just shouting motherfucker, which that was my.
- 55:49Speaker 4: I was going to argue that a British officer wouldn't
- 55:52Speaker 4: say yar fuck every.
- 55:53Speaker 1: Time Hey, they said when they're under the gun. Mayhaps
- 56:00Speaker 1: good stuff. It's en. I mean it created the chaos.
- 56:03Speaker 1: I wanted it to the moment that Nile arrived with
- 56:06Speaker 1: the water. As Udro was showing a quite frankly terrible
- 56:10Speaker 1: picture of Davy Jones. It's Davy Jones.
- 56:14Speaker 3: Davy Jones, Yeah, what I miss. Let's see this picture.
- 56:16Speaker 2: Please, I'm gonna hold him from back here.
- 56:19Speaker 1: No, no, I hold it right up to the can.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Need to see.
- 56:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the point of holding it back here. He
- 56:24Speaker 2: has tentacles and a half.
- 56:26Speaker 3: Yeah, Davy j as a walker. You could really see
- 56:30Speaker 3: the terra cotta.
- 56:31Speaker 4: Cop so close to that was very nearly on the
- 56:38Speaker 4: nose come out. That was very nearly happening.
- 56:42Speaker 1: And a beautiful drinking song about frum going up above must.
- 56:48Speaker 3: Out of a pigeons bum. I believe was the exactly
- 56:50Speaker 3: Remember pirates were birds. I don't think mister pigeon was
- 56:53Speaker 3: one of them. But you know what I was that
- 56:55Speaker 3: was you gave a sixth bonus one. It was, mister Steegel.
- 56:58Speaker 3: I believe. Yes, Actually that's a great point. Do we
- 57:01Speaker 3: get an extra point for that? No?
- 57:05Speaker 1: Hainey Jones, Drunker, are you ready for your five minutes
- 57:08Speaker 1: of chaos?
- 57:10Speaker 3: Drew?
- 57:10Speaker 4: I have I have one through ten listed, so I'll
- 57:13Speaker 4: cross them off as we do. I've got I've got
- 57:17Speaker 4: so many dice. It's the one thing i've got here.
- 57:20Speaker 4: What do you mean cheating? I got so many dice
- 57:22Speaker 4: in front of me. It's stupid to be fair. I
- 57:24Speaker 4: did have a abysmal amount of T six.
- 57:27Speaker 1: I believed you'd all have dice pretty close just over yonder. Okay,
- 57:33Speaker 1: Drew Dane, are you both ready?
- 57:34Speaker 3: My toe is so.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Please don't see Okay, we're going to start the timer
- 57:43Speaker 1: as soon as you see it, start counting down. Just
- 57:45Speaker 1: name a number.
- 57:46Speaker 3: Two, one, one and two go both one.
- 57:49Speaker 1: One player must fill a glass with water in front
- 57:52Speaker 1: of the camera and say it all fell out of
- 57:54Speaker 1: me ribs like a cursed Skellington. Okay too, that name
- 58:00Speaker 1: three of the movies that Kira Knightley has been in.
- 58:03Speaker 3: Domino.
- 58:04Speaker 4: Uh uh, Kieren Knightley, You've named Domino, which is a
- 58:10Speaker 4: pretty deep cup.
- 58:11Speaker 3: Do you know what you have to say? Drew? Is
- 58:15Speaker 3: it not with the rump thing?
- 58:16Speaker 4: No, no, it is just it all fell out of
- 58:18Speaker 4: my rims like ribs, like a Skellington.
- 58:22Speaker 3: I'm talking you laughing.
- 58:23Speaker 2: This is why I could not do the chugging one.
- 58:26Speaker 3: It all fell out me ribs like a Scuddington.
- 58:28Speaker 1: Nice, there's the point. Can you help them?
- 58:30Speaker 3: Okay? More what we need?
- 58:32Speaker 4: Can we work together on the Chunes, Kiera, Knightley movies.
- 58:36Speaker 4: I got Domino. I could not think of a single
- 58:38Speaker 4: one she's been in besides the Caribbean.
- 58:41Speaker 3: Let's let's keep it.
- 58:42Speaker 4: You can Pride and Prejudice, prejudice, prian prejudice two or
- 58:47Speaker 4: prime prejudice and zombies.
- 58:48Speaker 3: No, she was not.
- 58:49Speaker 4: Okay, let's get another one. We'll come back to this one,
- 58:51Speaker 4: and to keep thinking of them. Yeah, I know what
- 58:53Speaker 4: numbers wrong, So I'll let you two numbers.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Three act out the scene where you're both Jack Sparrow
- 58:57Speaker 1: impersonators who have been booked for the same chill Aldren's
- 59:00Speaker 1: birthday party. O, children, I am here too, What are
- 59:04Speaker 1: you doing here?
- 59:05Speaker 5: This is my job, savvy, but this is a setup. No,
- 59:11Speaker 5: which one of you children have realm? Then that's a
- 59:15Speaker 5: good idea.
- 59:16Speaker 1: You're an agreement. I'll count it. You've you've found, You've
- 59:19Speaker 1: found the scene. I'll give you the point, even though
- 59:21Speaker 1: I'm not sure what Drew was doing. Apparently, Four one
- 59:26Speaker 1: player must draw a picture of one of those rock
- 59:28Speaker 1: crabs from at World's End from memory one of those
- 59:31Speaker 1: rock rock crabs. Okay, Drew's on it.
- 59:33Speaker 3: Okay, great. Five.
- 59:35Speaker 1: One player must say I every fifteen seconds for the
- 59:38Speaker 1: rest of the game.
- 59:40Speaker 4: Okay, I could do that. I get six.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Find some dice, roll them individually until you have four sixes.
- 59:49Speaker 3: I is dying. One of the next number is doing,
- 59:53Speaker 3: go for it. Seven.
- 59:55Speaker 1: One player must invent and perform a four line working
- 59:58Speaker 1: sea shanty.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: I rock crab their smooth round rocks.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Yep, I like that.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: I like how many sixes do I need? Four? Okay,
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: say the song for say the song for the end was,
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: what was next? Six?
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: You've done seven? You've done seven? From this point. Fourth,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: both players must talk like a pirates.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: I'll take nine.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I invent the names of five fictional navy admirals. Who
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: sounds so British it hurts your teeth.
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: A little admiral bad teeth yep. Nigel, Nigel Bucksworth.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Yes, very good, corporal, Corporal big Ben.
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: Yep, Alfred Eggington, very British, and then finally, good friend,
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: the Queen of England's son.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: You can have the Queen of England's son that's five
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: good stuff.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: I believe. Then we are left with number ten.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: But ten one player must fight, find and show an
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: item to the camera that could reasonably connect it to
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: the word mermaid.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: I'm on it.
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: I'll be right back. I've got it. I've got it.
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: It's a claw hand also a denizen of under the sea.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I'll take it as some kind of reasonable
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: connection just about. But you still need to give me
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: a drinking song. Sorry, no, that was the other one.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: We need a full line sea shanty.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: H What is the theme for there have a car?
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: In response, think.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: About the Wellman from February twenty twenty one.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: Think about that I live in a seaside town. Everything's
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: a freaking pirate song here. Oh, I'm really bad at
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: this one, this one.
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm real bad at fucking music. Shit too.
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: There once was a man from port in town. He
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: sang a song of living and frowns. His pirate ship
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: was big ucy, but together we all went and drowned.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Yes, it barely.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Rhymes, but I love it as a song. That's your time,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Your time up? Okay, I mean, what's lot's happened there?
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: You got there's some things just about over the line
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: in some scenarios, I mean, how do we feel about
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: how do we feel Aboutdrews Jack Sparrow. That's one I
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: regret giving the point for.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: I get it, I get it.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: I guarantee you you book a Jack Sparrow impersonator, they
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: are gonna sound fucking nothing like Johnny Down. Especially if
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: you're booking even money to book two of them, you're
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: definitely cheaping out somewhere.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: You'd have to check their text messages.
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: That's where it all comes down to. You have to
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: see how they talk to their best friend. I only
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: have I have two points of order.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I've got one point of you give me.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: Yours so I seem like less of a dick. Okay.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: The one I have is I didn't hear that third
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: keyra Nightly movie.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: No, we didn't get I could not like one for you.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: I have one okay, Oh ye, well I don't have
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: the specific one. She was in the prequels as the
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: not Padme.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: Oh god, she wasn't Star Wars.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: And also Atonement is probably the other big yeah yep,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: audio points.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: We gotta take the game seriously and we're losing, so
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: I will say two things. One, I believe you had
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: to say a cursed Skelington and you just said a Skelington.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: That is true.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: And two, there were no eyes for the last forty
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: seconds of the game.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: That is also true. There were eyes up until the
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: drinking song started.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: I'm sorry, do you.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna say no point
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: for the eyes. They did fall off, but I'm gonna
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: say the water was drunk and it and it came
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: through and I imagined it going through the ropes like
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: a Skelington. So we're still going to say a point
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: for that one.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: Okay, I will accept that. I I thank you, thank
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: you very much. True.
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: I ran off the the worm before I heard the line.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: The line was so much longer than I expect.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Okay, that's the end of the round. Let's play Liars dice,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: but not really and use the numbers to calculate the
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: latest scores. Just it's so annoying how they don't play
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: by any rules in that movie. They're just saying, Okay,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Ordra Stranger Niles, you are on ten points, and Danny
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: Jones Druker, you're on eleven points.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: Get close there, yes, and.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: If you want to still talk like a pyrate for
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: the rest of the record. Absolutely, what do you mean?
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: What does he mean?
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Round three next after these smart ads for hopefully goods
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: and services that Disney doesn't agree with. That'd be fun
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: back soon. Round three is our history based game, and
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: it's called Date Leapers. The film's plots a sept primarily
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: in the Caribbean, based on a fixtionalized version of the
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Golden Age of Birasy. The same sentence that's in orders
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: passing knowledge, so I reckon it's on the Wikipedia page. Yes,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: So that means there's a lot of real and fake
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: history to play with here. So in this game, I
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: will read a question where the answer is always a
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: year in time. Our players will each individually write down
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: a year, but they'll be working as a team, So
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: I will take the average year that a team gives me.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: The team with the average answer closest to the correct
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: date scores a point, even if you're miles away, And
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: if you're very close, mean nautical, it would be fitting
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: drink drink more room for that.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: One, cheers. I've already cracked over in the second one.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Yeah, And if you're very close to the answer, loads
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: of points.
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: I'm just getting flashbacks to us absolutely beefing the shadow
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: of the headshot of this.
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: That's exactly when my brainwe was the like did I
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: put like nineteen eighty four or.
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: So. It's funny because every gate leapers I've been on
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: has been related to speed, because there's been fast and
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: Furious and then there's been Sonic and I was like,
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: oh no, I'm breaking the streak. However, Black Pearl faster
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: Ship on the seas, We're still good.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: Yep, the streak continues. The names that are difficult for
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: me to read and the speed thing.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: Bring two things to this podcast. It's velocity and ruining
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: your mouth feel with words.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Hey, what more do you need in life? Okay, let's
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: have the first question. This is open to all players.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: Just write down what you feel the right answer is,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: and we'll start out with a pretty easy one. Something
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: you were all around for. I know it. What year
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: were Dead Men's Chest and At World's End shot back
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: to back shot or released shot? So the year that
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: they were both filmed, the year that they were both
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: filmed back to back at the same time over a
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: nine month period of the same year.
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: And we're still working collaboratively with our team. Right, So
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: if you if you suspect I'm going to be way
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: off in one way or the other, you can try
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: to compensate for it.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: That's that's about the game.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: Yeah, A communicate with me via your eyes? How way
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: off you're going to be? I also don't know, so
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: this isn't very helpful.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know how far If I am to
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: communicate with my.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: Eyes, that's good eye communicating.
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: Now we're we're spot on.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Let's let's see how much COVID has messed up the
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: time in the twenty first century for everyone. Let's let's
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: start with Odra and Nile. Oldra, what have you got
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: for this?
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: I put twenty eleven.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Twenty eleven.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: I don't fucking remember, five years after the movies came out.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Oh sure, it's not a filming.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: Of those times I have. Oh no, wait, what what
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: movies are.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: We doing here?
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: This is the second and third movies? Best, This is
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: why we play this game. Okay, So Nil, what did
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: you find? I put two thousand and four, two thousand
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: and four. So Autra, using the power of a computer
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: in her phone, it's going to work out the average two.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: And seven and a half.
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: Okay, so seven a year after the last movie, if
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: I'm correct, how the fuck old was?
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: I was like I was in high school. The movies
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: came out, so so.
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: The joy of me pirrating these movies was that it
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: had the date next to the second and third, which
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: I believe were two thousand and six and two thousand
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: and seven.
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: We got them boys. He admitted to it on recording
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: this in here, did that you had almost caught Nile Spain?
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: Not that ten I did actually catch it.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: Okay, Well, the thing is, even though that's your answer,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: I feel like two thousand and seven point five is
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: a pretty good average.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: Near enough, I guess, depending on how bad Danny Jones see.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Let's see how much Dana's beefed it. Actually, let's go
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: with Drew's number.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: Five. Also put two thousand and four.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Two thousand and four is in there, And Dane, what did.
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: You put nineteen seventy two that I passed? If I
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: left past it was? I put twenty fourteen?
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Okay, fourteen?
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: Which movie did you think they were talking about?
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: More? I thought it was the last two. I thought
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: the last two were filmed back to back.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: That's in twenty fourteen would be a much more reasonable
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: answer for the fourth and fifth. Yeah, yep, that's fair.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: That's fair. The afriae for that is, then two thousand
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: and nine is your average.
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: I have a weird feeling. We're walking to the point
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: for this one, Dane.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: So both averages are after the third film was released.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: So let's find out who was closest.
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: I wonder suspense.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: You know, it's ultra strange de Niles. Yeah, that's going
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: to be a point for you guys for being the closest.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: It was two thousand and five. They both dropped back
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: to back.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: Okay, I think I felt older when those movies came out,
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: Like I think, I think that's what it was.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: I have like no ability to place myself in relation
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: to those movies. I just saw him on the streaming service.
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: I was using him by streaming, I mean pirting.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: I'm very him again.
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: I found another cultural Touchtowe in time around twenty eleven,
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: and measured off.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Of that what one the sister one of the Traveling
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: Dants of course.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: One.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: Yeah, used it as a measuring point, and I see,
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: exertainly probably the most culturally relevant thing to come out
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: on that day.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: I've never forgotten it.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna ask the second pirate history based question. Yeah,
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: check check the notes of this episode if you.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: Want to know the second question.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: The second question is this is some real pirate.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: History we've done between I don't know.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: A crazy Okay, here's your next question. What year did
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: Edward teach a ka Blackbeard die at the hands of
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: the British bit of a real history question?
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: I what for the non movie fans pirates, I should
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: know this? Can I ask you questions based on Can
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: I just ask you if chronologically the movies make sense
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: with history. I assume you're not going to answer that.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: Well, I'll refer to the thing I said at the start.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: They're in a fictionalized version of the Golden Age of pirates.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Most they themselves progress a little bit, but they also
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: play with history quite a bit.
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: And can we assume he died before the movies came out?
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: Yeah, he didn't get to see the movies.
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: Thousand and one actually was very tragic.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I see while he's reading The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: Let's just say he was a lot better at driving him. No,
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: I can't, nope, nope.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: Too much from too much from.
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: The Second Ship.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: Oh god episode, what an episode to find this strange
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: just pace of trivier in the world.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: You would never do that fandom you ruined it.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Do the ninety lessons fandom you can't do.
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: I don't know if people are fans of this.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: I'm crying.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: I need to say right now, if you do a
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: Traveling Pants episode, it's this crew.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: I don't like, never read nor watched them. I just think, like.
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: Life they have seen. I think you were. There are
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: genes and now the more things I know about the
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: movie are what we discussed write this episode.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Okay, does everyone have a written down? An answer written down?
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Okay, We're gonna start with Dane this time. What have
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: you got?
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: I put fourteen sixty nine.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Fourteen sixty nine, that's a year in history, so that
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: sounds right to me.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: That is certainly a time that things happened exactly.
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: So about a history. I have no metro for how
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: far back this was, so I put sixteen ninety one. Also,
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: going with the sixty nine that.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Is between two people just standing up next to them.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: Too cautious ob servers.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Not even giving as still to sit on.
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: Such a shame they're both holding a camera.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: Okay, so that gives you an average of fifteen eighty
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: is your average? That feels pretty good?
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: It's not I like that.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: Okay, Let's find out what Udra and Nile have. Nile,
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: what have you got? Sixteen fifty sixty fifty?
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: Okay, make me feel better about my answer.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: And Audra, So the golden age of piracy was in
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: the seventeen hundreds to the late seventeen hundred. So I
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: got eighteen oh one.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Eighteen oh one, so like, okay, just as just as
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: the piracy ass Yes, what does that give you? An
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: average job?
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: Seventeen twenty five.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Point five seventeen twenty better be halfway for the year.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: If it came down to it, it would just nailed
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: the exact date. Look, you're not You're not far off,
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: and you are the ones getting the point again because
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: the correct answer is seventeen eighteen.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Ooh, I was wrong about when the golden age of
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: piracy was.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: I did one date, and I'm basing it all off
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: that date, which is why I asked my very specific
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: question earlier. And I don't know if I got an
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: appropriate answer, and I just got it was like.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: All right on average, you ended up getting pretty close.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: So yeah, another history based question. This time we're going
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: to talk about theanon of the Pirates movies. So, according
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: to canon, what year was Jack Sparrow Bonn? According to
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: those flashbacks that canon, what year was Jack Sparrow Bonn?
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: Jesus Christ? Did they say?
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: According to the official fan wiki, they say.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: Mm hmm hmm.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: I think it's a flashback in the fifth movie.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: The one that I knew existed before today. I just
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: watched the fifth movie today and I do not remember this. Also,
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: given that it's probably a scene with Jack Sparrow involved,
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: I wouldn't be shocked if he's being told this information
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: to buy an actual canon in a drunk hallucination. Yeah.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: In Pirate films, when things are made canon, it's it's
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: set by cannon.
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: Shot out of them in the screen.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: In three D.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: It's like, you know, they used to like get like
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: bow and Arrow with a message on it that no
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: canonical events were just fired in cannon balls and people.
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: Mm hmm. It was actually very funny because watching the
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: last two movies, my partner's just like, you know, it
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: was the era fucking three D everything shooting at the
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: stream for no reason. Yes, yeah, concluding I guess his
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: birth certificate.
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: It just floats into the audience.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: See that thing. I wasn't wearing my three D glasses earlier,
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: so I couldn't see it.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: Fucking makes sense, really missed out. Yeah, the full experience.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: We all have an answer for this one. Yes, okay, Oder,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: what have you got? I went for sixteen seventy sixteen seventy.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: Let's see what Nile is put.
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: Sixteen seventy eight.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: Ah, okay, same bulpop, So that's gonna be six sixteen
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: seventy four.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: I didn't need to plug that into the calculator.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: Hey, I was exam but it did seem like you
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: were already doing it, and I was like, we got this.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: I had already put mine in, Like I put my
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: answer in to the calculator first, Okay, can I commit
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: to the bit.
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: Let's see what sixteen seventy four is up against.
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: Sixteen seventy four. Who look like that?
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: Oh my ass number. I'm like, wait a minute, doing
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: some math here. Ohookie, we're on the same wavelength. True,
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: we got a finger.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: Fine, just be on his team next time.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: Okay, we all ready have Well I'm trying to steal
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: into our team, which is very pirates, you know what
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: I mean, all trying Dan himself might as well, because
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: this ship right here is a sinking.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: What have you got, Dane?
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: I got a powerful sixteen ten danxteen ten.
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: Hey.
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: I was going based off what Nile had just said
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: about sixteen fifty, assuming that one of the movies took
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: part at that point. So I was like, Jacksparrow is
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: about forty ish and maybe mm hmmm.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: If yeah, if that was the date the movies were in,
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: that would be very recent.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: I didn't watch the Powerful movie, I guess.
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: I watched an abbreviated short recap thanks to a dedicated YouTuber.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: See what I did was I took I assumed he
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: was also about forty, but then I took the date
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: that Blackbeard died, subtract started to subtract forty, and then said,
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: I don't want to do any real math. Let's make
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: him forty eight.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: Exactly what I like. I know when he died, I know,
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: according to the movies they interacted, and there's like, I'll
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: subtract a random amount from that and just taill mary it.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: So what's the average for Drew and Dane there sixteen
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: forty two sixteen forty two.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: When Columbus sailed the ocean blue? Is it a thing rhyme?
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: So it must be correct. It's not American. I'll do
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: the history. Shit.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Yeah, we got sixteen seventy four versus sixteen forty two,
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: both very close to each other in the grand scheme
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: of history. But the correct answer is sixteen ninety, So
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: sixteen seventy four is closer. So there's there's the point
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: again to Udra and Nile.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: God, he's a youth a spring chicken.
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: If a spring sparrow even Oh, I don't get it
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: like that.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: We both had a similar response.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: That's a reference to the movie.
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: I think we were struggling for bird names earlier and
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: didn't think of chicken. H we went with.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: Puffing came out, So that's that's a beautiful thing. Here
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: is your next question, bit of a bit of literature,
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: test your high brown knowledge. Here. What year was Treasure Island?
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: By Robert Lewis Stevenson, first published as a book, The
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: novel that kickstarted all the tropes of pirates that appear
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: I had such a powerful drive towards the number and
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: I don't know why, and I it's either're gonna be
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: so spun on or so off.
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: I have so little of an inkling that the first
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: thing that came to my mind, I was like, I'm
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: gonna honor.
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: This basically where I went with U to. Yeah.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the way I go with it sometimes.
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: All right, this is honestly, this seems like a thing
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: doctor who would encounter at some point. I feel like
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: there's an episode around this time frame in England. Let's
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: go with that, all right?
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: And with that, Drue, what if?
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: What if you put eighteen twenty two.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Eighteen twenty two seems reasonable? Tane I put eighteen seventy,
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: eighteen seventy.
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: I likekay, I'm just happy to be in the same
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: same century as you take it.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think that makes an average of eighteen
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: forty six. Is the audre just worked out very fast?
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: So we've got eighteen forty six that's versus Nile. What
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: have you got? Let's remind e, hey, what you got
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: seventy eight?
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: Are you thinking of muppets?
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: Shit? Is that not the one? Were they?
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: I love the idea that Robert Louis Stephen said was
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: just like releasing books at the same time as Stephen King.
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: That was kind of my vibe. Yeah, yeah, that's getting
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: to think. Maybe I get a reprint version that that
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: number was on and I was like, that's it. That
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: might be genuinely The real thing is what you don't
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: know is we've Jack sparrowed and Audra's shot the other way,
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: so we nail it in the middle.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Okay, what did you put? Did you Jack sparrow it.
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: Forty seven pc?
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: You'll always know this is the day we almost got
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: a point. I put eighteen fifty one, you.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: Put eighteen fifty one. That makes an average of nineteen fourteen.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: I think we got this.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: What was the first one? The first one war breaks out?
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: It's what the people needed in the First World War.
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: This is what they need.
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: It was the peace. It was pirate literature, pirate whimsy. Yep.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: So is this is this eighteen forty six versus nineteen fourteen?
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: Could you tell me the midpoint number.
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: Between free Jack Sparrow baby.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: Because this is going to be closer than I can
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: work out in my head.
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: I don't like that.
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: Eighteen eighty point twenty five.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: Okay, it just goes to Danny Jones truth because it's
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: eighteen eighty three.
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: Really, yes, seems much more recent. Wait than I would
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: have anticipated.
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: Wait wait second, No, it goes to us, that actually
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: goes to them.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: Yes, sorry Sparrow motherfuckers.
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: Oh they did, they did, Jack Sparrow. Just I just
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: did something worse than a Jack Sparrow to you because
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: I told you that you got the point, but you
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: actually didn't.
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: You over British Naval officered US.
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I beckoning company US.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: So I'm so sorry for RUGA pulling Dane Andrew there.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: I just did Math's wrong. And it turns out Nihil
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: doing a crazy guess in the future.
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: Seemingly was it a Jack Sparrow?
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: A classic Jack Sparrow, I've been Jack Sparrow. Let's move
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: on to the fine in this round this one. Look,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: it's classic. We heard it before. It's connected to the
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: whole fandom. What year did the Pirates of the Caribbean
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: ride open at Disneyland? When did the ride begin?
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: Huh?
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: Or just drew the most insane number on her sheet
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: of paper. It's like she was gonna draw zero but
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: turned it into a six.
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's six pc.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: Maybe Christ was the original imagineer, are.
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: You really to get fucking jacksparrowed once more?
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: I don't think I can handle that. Does everyone have
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: an answer for this?
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: Once again, Yes I have. I have numbers written down.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: Numbers is good enough for me, Dane, what have you got?
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: I got nineteen eighty three.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: Nineteen eighty three Disneyland was around.
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: We'll hire ay one for ninety two, so we've.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Got eighty three and ninety two.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: Thank you, Drew for once again making me feel beat
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: or about. My answer.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: Gives an average of nineteen eighty seven point five.
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: Thank you, Dane for making me feel good about mine.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: Round about the June of nineteen eighty seven. There, okay, Nile,
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: what have you put? I have nineteen ninety six, nineteen
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: ninety six?
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: Okay, Oh my god, I put nineteen eighty six.
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: Oh wow, Okay, so nineteen ninety one, No.
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: Nineteen ninety point five.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: I typed nineteen eighty six twice.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: So the average is, yeah, it is nineteen ninety one.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: So we've got nineteen eighty seven versus nineteen ninety one. Okay,
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: same region, right, that's like the same Olympic period, the
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: same Olympic cycle.
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: Maybe, so our birth here is Nile. Yeah, I was
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: not looking at ninety one, but okay, were younty?
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: I thought you were a C class. No points for
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: knowing your friend.
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: Well, it's just my my youthful facad.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: But is this going to be the time that Danny
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Jones Druka finally score a point in the history round
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: with their input of nineteen eighty seven point five versus
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: nineteen ninety one. The correct answer was nineteen sixty seven.
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: So yes, Jesus Christ, Oh, I realized it. I I'll
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: be honest. I knew it was an older ride, but
- 1:25:26Speaker 4: I thought you'd go older.
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: I was kind of playing it safe there, No, I
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: see compensating. I don't know anything about Disney was the
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: first I'd ever made.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: It seems like sixty seven. It's got to be one
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: of the ojis.
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: I mean, the famous story is it allegedly had real
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: skeletons in the decorations, like bought from like a medical school.
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: So it had to be a little skeleton store bought
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: from a medical school, says.
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: A harvest them.
- 1:25:56Speaker 4: Yeah, he was called bad employees. We know where his
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: frozen head is. We don't know where his body is.
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: Now we do, maybe.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: Okay, that is the end of round three. Let's consult
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: the Pirate Council for the latest scores. The closest thing
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: the Left has to solidarity was the Pirate Council. I
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: think I think that's the closest we've ever been united. Okay,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: ordre Stranger Niles, you killed it in that round. You're
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: on fourteen points. Danny Jones, Druka killed it a little
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: less in that round, You're on twelve points.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: We chose parlay over murder after our very bad first
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: round showing. I'm quite happy.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: But it can all change in the quick fire round,
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: as it so often does. But before we get to
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: the quick fire round, let's talk prizes. This episode, star
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: prize is the concept of freedom. Something for the first
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: time in history, we can all teach America about.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: Yeah, Canadians the first apologize, but opening see will also receive.
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: However, much of this bottle of rum is left by
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: the end of the night, So there you go.
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: We get a visual right now.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: Quite a solid amount. At the moment i'd say.
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: Well, you should probably fix that.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: Yeah, get at the top up before the quickfire rounds
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: so that I get through my words that I've got
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: to say.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: Do you want this? I should? I have had a no. No,
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: time makes them both. Now I do want it.
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: I'm gonna be Yeah, give us the advantage.
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: You think she's not powering up, you fool.
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna make me bold.
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: She's jack sparrowing you instantly.
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: Right now, as I started juiced and Otter has gotten
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: juiced throughout, juices are off the scales.
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:27:43Speaker 4: I don't think you could say that I'm laughing.
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: Did not occur to me. The words I chose Drew,
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: We're gonna take himnute, right, you can get that shirt
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: and more.
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: I'm sorry, the Dred Juices shirt or the true We're
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: gonna have a conversation shirt right next to Legally we
- 1:28:12Speaker 4: have to have both in the store at the same time. Otherwise, Yeah,
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: one is bad, two is okay. It's the equivalent of
- 1:28:18Speaker 4: the I was stupid. You have to wear it was
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: one of pairs.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: Up next, this is our crucial quick fire around. But first,
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: it's so weird to read copy after a riff like that.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: But first we must play one final set of ads.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: Unless you sailed the High Seas for this MP three,
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: Ye scalley wag.
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: I do hope someone is pirating.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: This final quick fire rounds will test your broader pup
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: pop culture knowledge. I'm saying it, and it's called pop
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: culture Pirates or PCP two. In this game, I will
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: give our players clues to a pirate from pop culture history.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: Those clues will be in the style of a salty
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: seed who swears he saw that pirate with his own eyes.
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: My god, that's the pop culture, the salty.
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: It was all written down. Oh what a joy. And
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: there is of course a classic gate leapers twist. You
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: need to say, y are that bee? And then the answer.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: I need that pirate line before it. And it's quick fire,
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: so buzz in by yelling out your team name. Let's
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: practice that now.
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: Danny Jones Drooker, I'm going to probably the way to
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: go for that one.
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: Okay, so we'll go with Danny versus Uldra.
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: I guess I'm gonna be perfectly honest. Could you read
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: what the questions are gonna be? I was just so
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: overwhelmed by pop culture I forgot what the questions we're
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: gonna be.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: I've not read the example yet, So you're good, Okay, thanks,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: You're all right. We'll do this practice now. Just to
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: make sure we're all on the same page. Yeah, I
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: saw him with me own eyes, parrot on his shoulder
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: in a wooden leg saw him leaving an island of
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: treasure with a cabin boy named Jim. Seemed pretty inappropriate.
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: If you ask me, ore, are we is it the property.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: Named the pirate?
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: I know property I got. Yeah, that'd be the guy
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: from Treasure Island.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: That's what I had.
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's to be better later.
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Yeah, long long John Silver was the answer. They're probably
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: the most famous pirate, which I knew obviously. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: it came back later. Yeah, yeah, it's it's tactics. But
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: that's that is how you would answer that question. So
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: we just need to name these twelve possibly less famous
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: than lost John Silver pirates.
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw him with me own eyes. Come to
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: think of it, he was also chasing a boy around
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: an island, although he was I think it was Auldra first,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: Oudra o'nile were.
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: First, then Yre. That be Captain Hook.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: That is Captain Hook.
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: It's the only one. I know what we all wanted.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: Y're I saw him with me own eyes, dressed all
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: in black. He was with Andre the giant and Mandy
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: putting Rod. Yeah, Drew, Oh my fucking god, Dane, if
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: you know it, please take it away from me. I'm
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: having a place.
- 1:31:22Speaker 4: I get I we could do it. Yeah, you're that'd
- 1:31:24Speaker 4: be the dread private Pirate. Roberts is indeed the dread Pirate, right,
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: I know it's a title. And then I really share
- 1:31:30Speaker 4: a human name, the bad pirate eater, the felony inducing John.
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: Yar.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: I saw him with me own eyes, wearing a vest.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: He was gun in hand shot first smuggler, I believe. Yeah, Dane,
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: for that.
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: One yre, that be Han Solo, That.
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: Is indeed hand Solo. Yes, we are including space pirates.
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: Space bounty hunters.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: Yeah, a little bit pirate at least according to some
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: buzzfeedless Yeah.
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: No, he wasn't a bounty and he was a pirate.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: He was hunted by bounty hunters for being a poetry
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: I'm thinking of damn it. He was a smuggler more so.
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: But sorry, you've been space sparrowed.
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: Yar.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: I saw him with me on I sailing from the
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Iron Islands. I suspect any story will yes.
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: Dane Yar, that'd be Davos.
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: Oh, not from the Iron Islands, right property, but not
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: who I've got here? Is the most piraty from Game
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: of Years?
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: I mean it's most politely are maybe ever.
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: Yard? That be Uron Grade Joy?
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: It is Uron Grade Joy is well, I've got he
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: ad Daaned. I thought about this for more than I'd
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: like to admit as to who was the most piraty,
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: but the Internet decided that Uron was more priority.
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: So I would say's a fair spilvers in the two.
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: But yeah, I think hero makes more sense.
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: Yar.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: I saw him with me on ies, blue guy who
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: likes to whistle. Not your typical figure. Yes, Nile.
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: Yre, it be fuck. I know who it is. I
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: just don't know their name. Yar. It be the surrogate
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: father and Guardians of the galaxy, whose name.
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: Is can we steal? It's not you, I shouldn't be
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: yond dude, worst Kate, Mary Poppins.
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: It's historically blue.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: Y're are you ready?
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: Kids?
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: I can't here?
- 1:33:37Speaker 4: Are you? You are? That that'd be pirate, Yar, that'd
- 1:33:41Speaker 4: be pirate. P You're peedy the pirate? Sorry did backwards?
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: It's not P the rate. That's not the name of
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: the pirate. Then turn up the TV where sometimes this
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: guy introduces episodes of a long running children's cartoon played
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: by that guy who voices the children's cartoon, Like, I
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: know who it is that I don't know his name?
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: His name?
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and I are that be nautical film?
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: It was worth a nautical film. But it's not the
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: right answer. It's patch the Pirate.
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: I'm thinking of nautical nonsense to be something you wish.
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I said, Oh so I knew it.
- 1:34:22Speaker 3: I definitely have never heard of Patchy the Pirate, but
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: I do know who you're talking about, much like you're getting.
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: For I'm enjoying these that's why. Yeah, I saw him
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: with me own eyes. Another space guy, although he didn't
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: last very long. Racktag crew with a bunch of dinosaurs
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: on deck. Yes, Nile, well dinosaurs.
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: Danny, I'm stealing the second we have a chance.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: Okay, I want to hear another.
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: Thank you. Yeah that be Captain Reynolds.
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna give it to your may is, Captain Reynold.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: It's it's Captain Reynolds. Yeah, okay, it's from Firefly.
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: To be fair, it was Washed that had the dinosaurs.
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: He yes, he had them on his own dashboard.
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it was just on on on Deck. Reynolds
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: was written as such a stock character that he didn't
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: really have any unique things about.
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: Cool.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw him with me own eyes on the
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: side of a bottle of rum.
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: Yes, a instead of Yard. I don't know. I was
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: going for a yar Audre crossover.
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: Mm I like it. Yar, that'd be Captain Morgan.
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: It is Captain Morgan. Yes, yah, I saw him with
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: me own eyes. Orcish looking fellow with a major underbite
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: was originally the antagonist to a blue Hedgehog, but eventually
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: spun off with a crew of his own in his comic.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: And I know Nile has read every issue of this comic,
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: so I feel okay asking this question.
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: Danny, I'm gonna just take a swing and this one
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: before and go, Yah, Captain.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: It's not Captain Orca. But I appreciate the guess.
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: If I buzz in, can Nile also buzz in.
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: When I'm if you want to take a stab? Yeah, Adra, yes,
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: follow the formalities.
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: Yar that be.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: Captain orc and no, but good guess. I'm sorry that
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: I may have teed you up for this dial.
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: And is Yard that be his friend? That's a crocodile?
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: Probably not.
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: No, it's it's not. This is apparently an antagonist in
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: Sonic the comic called Captain Plunder. No, okay, fine, fair enough,
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: I appreciate. I look these are these are going to
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: be more deep cuts next the y'are. I saw her
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: with me own eyes, our first femme coded Pirates, a
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: nemesis of that guy who dressed in purple and yellow
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: with the big mustache. Saw her sailing the sst Cup
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: on the Nintendo Wow, Odra, yes, Odra, yar. That be
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: Pirate Captain buttercup. It's not Pirate Captain, but a cup.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: Otherwise the dread Pirate Roberts would be looking for it.
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's probably where I got that.
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: Any of the guesses pass on this one yr, it'd
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: be Captain Booty. Good guess, good guess for a kid's
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: video game. Yeah, this is Captain Syrup, the one of
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: the antagonists from Warrior World Classic.
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: Good for her.
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I heard she invented passports.
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: Yar.
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: I saw them with me own eyes, all singing and
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: dancing and doing an opera at me, A whole group
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: of them, led by A Gilbert and Dora Sullivan. We're
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: going way back in time for this one. It's an
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: old pop culture reference.
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: Oh yes, I know show yes, Jar, is that the
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: Pirates of Pensands.
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: It is the Pirates of Pensands. That's what who we're
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: looking for, all every single one of them. I didn't
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: bother reading the plot.
- 1:38:18Speaker 4: Fuck yeah, I regret now, buzzing is that's I was
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: gonna say. But I was like, I know the name
- 1:38:22Speaker 4: of the pirates.
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: And quick before the buzzer. Yar, I saw him with
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: me own eyes stars in all five of the Pirates
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: of the Caribbean movie.
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: Is yes, ar, Would that be Captain Jack Sparrow.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: It's not Captain Jack's sparrow that I have here, No, Yar.
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: Yes, not Captain Barbosa.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: It's not Captain Barbosa I have here either. He's rather mischievous.
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: Name starts with a J. Is a literal animal that
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: sits on the shoulder rodre Yeah, okay, Nile, let's go
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: for it.
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: That'd be Jack the Monkey.
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: It is Jack the Monkey. Yes, it is indeed, good stuff.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: That's the buzzer which I had a dim post.
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: Missed the monkey.
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: Yeah, Jack the Monkey, Jack, Thank you Jack, I said
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: as a kid.
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: That absolutely was the most hilarious thing I'd ever heard.
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: Oh my god, Yes, hey, it's still hits.
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: It was the sickest burn I've ever experienced up till
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: that point.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: But thank you Drew for falling into the trap of
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: saying Jack Sparrow. I appreciate you for that.
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: Every once in a while, you gotta let it happen.
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: Okay, before we get to the final scores, I'd like
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: to thank our players. You've all been the worst players
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: I've ever.
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: Seen, like you have seen us.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: Yeah, not really, you're all the best. You're all fantastic.
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: This was an absolute blast. And it's not just the
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: rum talking Dane Niall, let's talk campaign too of No
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: Quest for the Wicked that's that's underway, especially by the
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: time this episode comes out. Could you share a little
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: bit about what's going on in this this new campaign.
- 1:40:00Speaker 4: Yeah, this is our second campaign. It's a direct follow
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: up to our first season. It takes place about twenty
- 1:40:06Speaker 4: five years after the events of our first campaign, following
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: a new group of adventurers where a magical planet has
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: just appeared in the Solar System and no one knows
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: how it got there or what it's doing there, and
- 1:40:20Speaker 4: there's a race to colonize and explore and discover. And
- 1:40:25Speaker 4: the sort of unique thing is we are giving our
- 1:40:27Speaker 4: audience an opportunity to directly influence the show pretty heavily
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: by a couple different things. We're doing votes where our
- 1:40:36Speaker 4: audience take on the role of citizens and vote on
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: important things that will shape the world. And then on
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: top of that, we're also doing a thing where they
- 1:40:46Speaker 4: can propose sort of events that will randomly happen throughout
- 1:40:50Speaker 4: the campaign that I will know about and be privy to,
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: but the.
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: The players will not punish me harshly.
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: I'm sure I love this.
- 1:41:00Speaker 4: And finally, if if for the diehard fans, you can
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: create your own faction within the world, I drew, I
- 1:41:08Speaker 4: believe you are a part of one.
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: I certainly am.
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: I think I think we were the first fact put together,
- 1:41:13Speaker 4: just a few of us on the discord and side.
- 1:41:14Speaker 4: You know what, let's just jump again to get in here. Yeah,
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: I believe you're a security firm. There are some really
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: fucking cool factions. Yeah, but it's like you can essentially
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: recruit fellow listeners to create a faction and that will
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: become a canonical faction within the campaign, which I don't
- 1:41:31Speaker 4: really know how it's going to manifest. It's going to
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: be sort of like as as things work out. But
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: I mean, we have a group that made a coffee
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: shop that has given me like a coffee shop with
- 1:41:42Speaker 4: a with like a floor plan and everything. Like people
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: have really doubled down on it, and it's that's kind
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: of like what we are looking forward to doing and
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: just sort of exploring this world and building it not
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: only as a cast on the show, but also with
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: our audience and our listeners.
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: That's I will sayable. One important thing is that while
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: you will get a lot of benefit from having Haired
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: season one, you do not need to know season one
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: toquin season two.
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, there will be there'll be callbacks'll be stuff,
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: but it is it is a season that you can
- 1:42:11Speaker 4: kind of jump in. We will probably also be releasing
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: sort of like a catch up for people who want
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: to jump in and get sort of like the Coles
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: notes as well. I don't know when this comes out,
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: but as of right now, we have a very special episode,
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: a prologue sort of like teasing the world and the
- 1:42:27Speaker 4: situation with some excellent guests from three Black Halflings and
- 1:42:32Speaker 4: Cannis the Magnificent Nice that we're really really proud of
- 1:42:36Speaker 4: and it was a really fun collab that we got
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: to do with them.
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: That's awesome. I mean, the whole premise that you have
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: set up for season two is inviting enough, but then
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: the idea of this is just like what I'm hearing
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: is the ultimate form of collaborative storytelling is like listeners
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: being able to build this world that will then surprise players.
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: That's incredible, man, that's awesome.
