- 0:00Speaker 1: Toby and Chili mornings on demand on 97.1 Wash FM.
- 0:05Speaker 2: And welcome to Thursday morning. It's 97.1 Wash FM. Toby
- 0:09Speaker 2: and Chili in the morning at 866-927-4361. Grab that phone,
- 0:14Speaker 2: call us, and tell us why you're feeling good this
- 0:16Speaker 2: early morning. And if you're not feeling good this early morning, well, pretend.
- 0:20Speaker 2: And maybe it'll become a reality when you, you know,
- 0:24Speaker 2: you manifest it. Why not? I don't know about you, Chili.
- 0:29Speaker 2: But I'm sure there's some manifestation of good going on
- 0:33Speaker 2: someplace in your world. Why are you feeling good this morning?
- 0:35Speaker 3: Our dog had suffered a herniated disc and she was
- 0:38Speaker 3: on several pain medications. And we've been weaning her off
- 0:42Speaker 3: per the doctor's orders. And it looks like she's handling
- 0:44Speaker 3: it well. So that's why I'm feeling good. That's how
- 0:47Speaker 3: simple I'm going to keep it.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Look at that.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:49Speaker 2: No more pain meds.
- 0:51Speaker 3: For now.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I'm feeling good because last night my significant other called
- 0:55Speaker 2: and just said, hey. I love you. Good night. She's
- 0:58Speaker 2: on a work trip. There's nothing better than getting a
- 1:01Speaker 2: phone call from somebody who loves you, right, while they're traveling,
- 1:05Speaker 2: doing their things someplace else. And that is why I
- 1:10Speaker 2: am full of good feels this early morning. What about you?
- 1:15Speaker 2: Tap the talkback microphone. That works, too, if you're listening
- 1:17Speaker 2: this morning and you're signed in. And you've got us
- 1:20Speaker 2: on with your iHeart app. Feel free to spread some
- 1:23Speaker 2: joy because it is contagious. In the meantime, stay there
- 1:27Speaker 2: as we get things started today. Top stories at the
- 1:30Speaker 2: top of the hour coming up in just a few minutes. Chili,
- 1:32Speaker 2: what's going down?
- 1:33Speaker 3: Metta is settling a landmark case over alleged harm to
- 1:36Speaker 3: kids on Facebook and Instagram. And I'm going to tell
- 1:39Speaker 3: you how much money Virginia, Maryland and D.C. are set
- 1:44Speaker 3: to get.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 1:48Speaker 3: A massive flash flood in Nepal has killed over 160
- 1:53Speaker 3: people with hundreds more missing. Experts say a glacial collapse
- 1:57Speaker 3: triggered the disaster, sending water and mud through communities and
- 2:01Speaker 3: destroying roads and buildings. Meta is settling a landmark case
- 2:05Speaker 3: over alleged harm to kids on Facebook and Instagram. In
- 2:10Speaker 3: that settlement, Virginia... will get at least $ 353 million. D.C.
- 2:14Speaker 3: could get up to $ 129 million. And Maryland is also
- 2:18Speaker 3: part of that deal. Now, Meta must also make some
- 2:21Speaker 3: major changes to protect young users. A federal judge is
- 2:26Speaker 3: lifting a nationwide block on the president's mail voting order,
- 2:30Speaker 3: clearing a major legal hurdle. Now, the order would require
- 2:34Speaker 3: voter eligibility lists and new rules for mail ballots, but
- 2:38Speaker 3: more lawsuits are expected. A man allegedly linked to multiple
- 2:42Speaker 3: Fairfax County burglaries is now behind bars. Police say a
- 2:46Speaker 3: tip during national night out led to the arrest of
- 2:49Speaker 3: 31-year-old Junior Gonzalez Coelho. Officers found an AR-15-style rifle and
- 2:55Speaker 3: a stolen gun. Maryland's State Board of Education is hitting
- 2:59Speaker 3: pause on a plan to require 60 minutes of daily
- 3:02Speaker 3: math instruction in kindergarten through eighth grade, pushing the deadline
- 3:06Speaker 3: now to fall of 2028 after educators warned that could
- 3:11Speaker 3: really crowd out the arts programs. And Tim Curry, the
- 3:15Speaker 3: eccentric British actor who captivated audiences playing Dr. Frankenfurter in
- 3:20Speaker 3: the Rocky Horror Picture Show and also Pennywise in the
- 3:23Speaker 3: TV miniseries of Stephen King's It, died yesterday at his
- 3:27Speaker 3: home in L.A. He was 80. Forecast today, we'll have
- 3:31Speaker 3: partly cloudy skies with scattered storms. This evening, highs in
- 3:34Speaker 3: the upper 80s. Right now, 72 in Nokesville.
- 3:38Speaker 2: And that is the news. Don't forget, you get your
- 3:40Speaker 2: top stories at the top of the hour with 97.1
- 3:43Speaker 2: Wash FM. Till we get chilly in the morning. And next,
- 3:46Speaker 2: we take a few to talk about you and how
- 3:49Speaker 2: you're doing this early morning. You might need it, your
- 3:51Speaker 2: morning mindset. Let it inspire you, or maybe let it
- 3:56Speaker 2: inspire somebody you know who needs it. That is just
- 4:00Speaker 2: minutes from now. 97.1 Wash FM, Toby and Tilly in
- 4:04Speaker 2: the morning, and it's time now for us to pause
- 4:07Speaker 2: and talk about how you're doing today.
- 4:10Speaker 3: It's called Our Morning Mindset. Toby finds the quote, shares
- 4:13Speaker 3: it with all of you to think about as you
- 4:15Speaker 3: take on the rest of the day for inspiration or
- 4:17Speaker 3: maybe even motivation.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Margaret Fuller says to all of us this morning, if
- 4:21Speaker 2: you have knowledge... Let others light their candles in it. Okay,
- 4:27Speaker 2: that's deep. If you have knowledge, let others light their
- 4:32Speaker 2: candles in it. What exactly does this mean? Why does
- 4:36Speaker 2: this matter today? Well, I think it's because we spend
- 4:39Speaker 2: a lot of time trying to prove what it is
- 4:41Speaker 2: that we know, right? Maybe the better move is to
- 4:45Speaker 2: ask the question, who can use what I know? So
- 4:50Speaker 2: don't just be smart today, be useful. Someone else's light
- 4:53Speaker 2: might start with something that you already know. Margaret Fuller.
- 4:58Speaker 2: If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Keep that in mind as you take on today. It's
- 5:06Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM with Toby and Tilly in the morning,
- 5:08Speaker 2: and that is your morning mindset. If you need it,
- 5:10Speaker 2: find us on the Toby and Tilly page at washfm.com.
- 5:13Speaker 2: It won't be very far from there. And stay right
- 5:17Speaker 2: there because in just a few minutes.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Look, if you've got older siblings, I'm sure you've been
- 5:21Speaker 3: through this. But what is the worst? Hand me down.
- 5:24Speaker 3: You were forced to wear as a kid. We're talking
- 5:28Speaker 3: about it next. 866-927-4361.
- 5:33Speaker 2: It's a rite of passage, these hand-me-downs, especially if you're
- 5:36Speaker 2: in a family where there's more than just one sibling.
- 5:38Speaker 2: It's 97.1 Wash FM. Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Can you think of anything that you had handed down
- 5:46Speaker 2: to you as a kid that you just could not
- 5:49Speaker 2: stand wearing? You were forced to wear it as a kid.
- 5:53Speaker 2: What if it happened on the way to school for
- 5:57Speaker 2: the first day this week?
- 6:00Speaker 3: To you that my son on his first day of
- 6:03Speaker 3: school wore a hand-me-down shirt from my brother-in-law because my
- 6:06Speaker 3: son is pretty big for his age, but that doesn't
- 6:09Speaker 3: mean it was a bad hand-me-down. You and I are fortunate.
- 6:12Speaker 3: We avoided that whole thing because we were the oldest siblings,
- 6:15Speaker 3: but you know, I don't know if you ever had
- 6:18Speaker 3: to get maybe a cousin's hand-me-down or another relative's hand-me-down
- 6:22Speaker 3: or did you really get away scot-free?
- 6:24Speaker 6: I did.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I got got away scot-free. I don't recall wearing anything
- 6:27Speaker 2: of my father's. I was not that size when I
- 6:30Speaker 2: was younger.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Oh, gosh.
- 6:33Speaker 2: And I wouldn't have wanted to look like I was
- 6:35Speaker 2: ripped out of the pages of 70s magazines, GQ and whatnot.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Oh, that's funny. funny but you know it's a good
- 6:41Speaker 3: cost effective measure i mean it is expensive to buy
- 6:45Speaker 3: brand new clothes i will say i think if we
- 6:47Speaker 3: were to give a percentage if my son had younger
- 6:50Speaker 3: siblings or if my son had an older sibling i
- 6:52Speaker 3: would try to make 60 of his wardrobe brand new
- 6:56Speaker 3: and 40 hand-me-downs.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I have three brothers they all probably hate me for
- 7:01Speaker 2: the hand-me-downs We're just going to have to leave it
- 7:04Speaker 2: at that. Hand-me-downs. Did you ever wear them as a kid?
- 7:09Speaker 2: 866-927-4361 is the number. Caroline and Aldi, good morning.
- 7:15Speaker 7: Do you remember the TLC music video where they had
- 7:18Speaker 7: on those really big baggy jeans?
- 7:21Speaker 2: Yes, ma'am, I do.
- 7:22Speaker 7: That's what it looked like when I got hand-me-downs from
- 7:24Speaker 7: my sister. I looked like T-Boz, Left Eye, and Chili,
- 7:28Speaker 7: literally standing there at the bus stop with these big
- 7:31Speaker 7: old pants on.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Wait, those ladies were cool. What's wrong with that?
- 7:36Speaker 7: I had to put a belt around and make sure
- 7:38Speaker 7: it was one that you could cinch real tight so
- 7:40Speaker 7: that way.
- 7:40Speaker 6: It wouldn't come off.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Ah, the joys of being a kid and growing up
- 7:45Speaker 2: and wearing hand-me-downs. Thanks for jumping in this morning. Coming
- 7:47Speaker 2: up after six, right around 610, top stories at the
- 7:51Speaker 2: top of the hour. That's the news. Chili, what you
- 7:53Speaker 2: working on?
- 7:54Speaker 3: Virginia residents now have another option for carrying their ID.
- 7:59Speaker 3: I've got all the details on the way.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Good morning to those of you going through the shift
- 8:03Speaker 2: change over at Washington Hospital Center, also at Children's National
- 8:07Speaker 2: and Nova Fairfax. Thanks for choosing Toby and Chili in
- 8:09Speaker 2: the morning. It's 97.1 Wash FM, where tomorrow afternoon.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Right around 5 p.m., Sabrina Conti will kick off our
- 8:17Speaker 3: best of the 80s and 90s weekend.
- 8:21Speaker 5: 97.1 WASH FM, Washington.
- 8:23Speaker 1: An iHeartRadio station. Coming up on Top Stories, top of
- 8:27Speaker 1: the hour.
- 8:27Speaker 3: A massive flash flood in Nepal has killed over 160 people.
- 8:33Speaker 3: We've got the latest on that story and others on
- 8:36Speaker 3: the way. With Toby and Chili in the morning on
- 8:39Speaker 3: 97.1 Wash FM.
- 8:43Speaker 5: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 8:45Speaker 3: A powerful flash flood tore through northern Nepal yesterday. It
- 8:50Speaker 3: was triggered by an earthquake-caused landslide. Over 160 people are dead.
- 8:55Speaker 3: More than 400 tourists are missing, including at least 47 Americans.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Meta is settling a landmark federal case over alleged social
- 9:05Speaker 3: media addiction among children. The company is going to have
- 9:08Speaker 3: to pay up to $ 17 billion and also impose daily
- 9:13Speaker 3: limits and nighttime blocks for teens, along with stronger age verification.
- 9:20Speaker 3: A federal judge is clearing the way for the president's
- 9:22Speaker 3: executive order that targets mail-in voting to take effect nationwide.
- 9:25Speaker 3: The order calls for a list of confirmed U.S. citizens
- 9:28Speaker 3: that are eligible to vote and also uniform postal service
- 9:32Speaker 3: standards for mail-in voting. A Maryland judge is blocking a
- 9:36Speaker 3: proposed redistricting amendment from appearing on November's ballot. The measure
- 9:43Speaker 3: could have allowed Democrats to redraw congressional districts and also
- 9:46Speaker 3: potentially target Republican Congressman Andy Harris. Rebuilding Baltimore's Key Bridge
- 9:52Speaker 3: is hitting some major milestones. Crews have installed 80 of
- 9:56Speaker 3: 90 massive steel piles for the new bridge, foundation, and
- 10:01Speaker 3: the project remains on track, according to officials, to open
- 10:05Speaker 3: by the end of 2030. Virginia residents now have another
- 10:09Speaker 3: option for carrying their ID. You can add your Virginia
- 10:13Speaker 3: driver's license or your state ID to Apple Wallet and
- 10:17Speaker 3: also use digital versions on your iPhone or Apple Watch.
- 10:21Speaker 3: And a new report finds that most Americans are sacrificing
- 10:25Speaker 3: joy just to make ends meet. 77% say they cut
- 10:29Speaker 3: back on things that make them happy, at least sometimes.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Forecast today, partly cloudy with scattered storm this evening. Highs
- 10:36Speaker 3: in the upper 80s. Right now, 72 in Germantown.
- 10:39Speaker 2: And that is the news. Toby and Tilly in the morning.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Top stories at the top of the hour. It's 97.1
- 10:45Speaker 2: Wash FM.
- 10:45Speaker 3: 866-927-4361.
- 10:46Speaker 2: In case you didn't notice it this week, Pumpkin Spice
- 10:52Speaker 2: Everything seems to be back. One coffee place starts the
- 10:57Speaker 2: chaos and then everything else becomes a pumpkin spice wonderland.
- 11:03Speaker 2: So what are some of the strangest things you've seen
- 11:06Speaker 2: with the pumpkin spice thing going on at this time
- 11:10Speaker 2: of the year? Tell us everything. Call us now and
- 11:14Speaker 2: we'll talk. Are you prepared for pumpkin spice everything? Tis
- 11:19Speaker 2: the season. 97.1 Wash FM. Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Have thoughts on all of these pumpkin spice gimmicks. Call
- 11:26Speaker 2: 866-927-4361 because we talking about it.
- 11:29Speaker 3: This week, Starbucks launched their pumpkin spice latte. And I'm
- 11:33Speaker 3: sure so many people stopped by. But obviously, it doesn't
- 11:36Speaker 3: stop just at coffee. We've talked about this before. There's
- 11:38Speaker 3: some crazy things out there that people have turned into
- 11:41Speaker 3: pumpkin spice.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Some of them are, I can't even believe we're talking
- 11:44Speaker 2: about some of them, but there is indeed pumpkin spice
- 11:48Speaker 2: toilet paper. I don't know who took the toilet paper
- 11:51Speaker 2: and put it in their mouth to taste said toilet paper.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Well, I think it's just scented, okay? It's not for consumption.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Well, I don't know that that's going to help too
- 11:58Speaker 2: much either. But it's very bizarre that the toilet paper
- 12:02Speaker 2: is in pumpkin spice flavor. Ditto macaroni and pumpkin spice
- 12:06Speaker 2: flavored macaroni and cheese.
- 12:08Speaker 4: I know.
- 12:08Speaker 3: There's so many different things. But I wonder if anyone
- 12:11Speaker 3: has actually been exposed to something kooky like that.
- 12:14Speaker 2: 866-927-4361 is the number. Chelsea and Bethesda, good morning. Pumpkin
- 12:22Speaker 2: spiced something. What were you exposed to and how did
- 12:27Speaker 2: you feel about it?
- 12:28Speaker 6: Pumpkin spice body scrub. Like that's just so wrong on
- 12:32Speaker 6: so many levels. Who would put that all over their body?
- 12:35Speaker 6: I mean, that's just crazy.
- 12:36Speaker 3: There are people who don't like the way pumpkin spice tastes,
- 12:40Speaker 3: but they don't mind the smell. So I can see
- 12:42Speaker 3: how a scrub could be popular.
- 12:44Speaker 6: That is disgusting. There is no way I would cover
- 12:47Speaker 6: my body in pumpkin spice smelling stuff. I mean, that's
- 12:51Speaker 6: just wrong.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Chelsea, microphone drop. You've made that abundantly clear in Bethesda
- 12:55Speaker 2: this morning. Thank you for jumping in.
- 12:58Speaker 6: Wow.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Crystal in Woodbridge.
- 13:00Speaker 6: Pumpkin spice flavored cricket.
- 13:03Speaker 3: What the? Where was this?
- 13:05Speaker 4: I got a gift.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Shop on vacation, and you know how they market the
- 13:12Speaker 3: weird snacks and stuff to the tourists?
- 13:15Speaker 2: Sounds like they pulled you in.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Did you try it?
- 13:17Speaker 5: No, I can't get behind the idea of.
- 13:20Speaker 6: Eating crickets in general, let alone pumpkin spice flavored ones.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll pass on the crickets the same way I
- 13:26Speaker 2: passed on the cicadas.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I don't need no bugs. I don't care what spice
- 13:34Speaker 2: they have on them.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Oh, man, that's great.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Thank you for jumping in this morning there, Chelsea and Crystal.
- 13:40Speaker 2: It's 97.1 Wash FM. Stay right there because.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Looks like a lot of couples are going through a
- 13:47Speaker 3: food divorce to save their marriage.
- 13:50Speaker 2: What is a food divorce, you ask? Stay there. Have
- 13:53Speaker 2: you heard of this trend called a food divorce? It's
- 13:58Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM. Toby and Chili in the morning, if
- 14:00Speaker 2: you haven't, check this out.
- 14:02Speaker 3: So couples who can't agree when to eat dinner or
- 14:05Speaker 3: even what to eat for dinner or who's going to
- 14:07Speaker 3: be making dinner are deciding to do things separately. That
- 14:11Speaker 3: is a food divorce. Just like with a sleep divorce,
- 14:13Speaker 3: you sleep in different rooms for whatever reason. Now couples
- 14:17Speaker 3: are just not even eating together.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Well, it's eliminating stress. I mean, sometimes having to decide
- 14:23Speaker 2: who's cooking what can be stressful. And then what if
- 14:26Speaker 2: you don't have the same food tastes as a significant
- 14:30Speaker 2: other or whomever you're dining with? I mean, that can
- 14:33Speaker 2: be stressful. It sounds to me like a food divorce
- 14:36Speaker 2: is actually not a bad thing.
- 14:38Speaker 3: What they're doing instead, Toby, these couples are they're just
- 14:41Speaker 3: planning quality time to do something on weekends or something
- 14:44Speaker 3: like weekend brunches or date nights. A food divorce in
- 14:48Speaker 3: my marriage would be pretty detrimental because dinner time is
- 14:53Speaker 3: the only time my husband and I truly have to connect.
- 14:56Speaker 3: When we're sitting across the table from each other with
- 14:59Speaker 3: our son there, yes, but we're still having kind of
- 15:01Speaker 3: catching up on our day conversations. So if we weren't
- 15:03Speaker 3: having dinner together, Don and I... I don't know when
- 15:06Speaker 3: I get to connect with my husband.
- 15:07Speaker 2: So do you have to remind him that it's time
- 15:10Speaker 2: for dinner? No, no, no.
- 15:12Speaker 3: My husband is driven by food. He knows when I
- 15:14Speaker 3: make dinner, it's time.
- 15:15Speaker 2: He's got him well trained.
- 15:17Speaker 3: He's got me trained. Let's not get it twisted. He
- 15:21Speaker 3: knows when he wants to eat and I don't need
- 15:23Speaker 3: a hangry husband. So would this bother you if you
- 15:27Speaker 3: were living with your girlfriend or if you guys end
- 15:29Speaker 3: up getting married and you just decided to have a
- 15:31Speaker 3: food divorce?
- 15:32Speaker 8: Hmm.
- 15:33Speaker 2: If we planned on having dinner together, right, if we
- 15:37Speaker 2: planned on it and we didn't, that would be more
- 15:40Speaker 2: problematic than just say day by day trying to decide whatever.
- 15:44Speaker 2: I mean, does that make sense? Yeah, I get it.
- 15:49Speaker 6: 866-927-4361.
- 15:49Speaker 2: A food divorce. Would it help you in your situation
- 15:54Speaker 2: or not so much? Would it be a big letdown?
- 15:57Speaker 2: Tell us your thoughts. We're always listening. It's 97.1 Wash FM.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 16:02Speaker 3: And coming up right around 710, we've got Toby and
- 16:04Speaker 3: Chili's top stories. A new survey finds cash use is
- 16:09Speaker 3: fading fast. I've got all the details in just a few.
- 16:14Speaker 2: If you love Chris Brown and Usher and you want
- 16:16Speaker 2: to see them at M & T Bank Stadium, thanks
- 16:18Speaker 2: to Live Nation, we got tickets and they could be
- 16:20Speaker 2: yours in minutes. 97.1 Wash FM. Toby and Chili in
- 16:24Speaker 2: the morning.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Right around 7.10, we're going to play our nearly impossible
- 16:28Speaker 3: question after Toby and Chili's top stories. And if you
- 16:30Speaker 3: get the question right, you win.
- 16:32Speaker 5: 97.1 WASH FM, Washington.
- 16:36Speaker 1: An iHeartRadio station. Coming up on Top Stories, top of
- 16:40Speaker 1: the hour.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Meta is settling a landmark case over alleged harm to
- 16:44Speaker 3: kids on Facebook and Instagram. I've got all the details
- 16:47Speaker 3: on that story and others on the way. With Toby
- 16:51Speaker 3: and Chili in the morning, a 97.1 Wash FM.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 16:59Speaker 3: At least 160 people are dead after a catastrophic flash
- 17:03Speaker 3: flooding hit the border of Nepal and Tibet, sweeping through
- 17:05Speaker 3: valleys and laying waste to villages. The number of missing
- 17:09Speaker 3: has now risen to nearly a thousand with dozens of
- 17:12Speaker 3: Americans among them. Meta is settling a landmark case over
- 17:15Speaker 3: alleged harm to kids on Facebook and Instagram. Virginia will
- 17:19Speaker 3: get at least $ 353 million. D.C. could get up to
- 17:23Speaker 3: $ 129 million. And Maryland is also part of the deal.

- 21:38Speaker 3: dropped a family secret bomb on him during the 4th

- 21:44Speaker 3: So we're going to see if we can help.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Helping you take care of your problems is something that
- 21:50Speaker 2: we enjoy doing with you here at 97.1 Wash FM.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Toby and Chili, in the morning to Alexandria we go. Dave,
- 21:59Speaker 2: good morning. How are you, sir?
- 22:01Speaker 3: Hey, I'm good.
- 22:02Speaker 8: I could use some help, though.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Uh-oh.
- 22:04Speaker 3: You got some family drama happening?
- 22:06Speaker 8: That's one way to put it. Yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Well, what is wrong?
- 22:09Speaker 3: Spill that tea. It was over the 4th of July.
- 22:12Speaker 8: Family get together and everything. Everybody's, we're having a few beers,
- 22:15Speaker 8: you know, knock them back a few. I mean, like
- 22:18Speaker 8: people start letting loose. Man, my, my mother-in-law at one
- 22:23Speaker 8: point took me aside and just dropped a bomb on me.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Oh boy. What did mama say?
- 22:29Speaker 8: She says to me, she says, you know, I got
- 22:30Speaker 8: to tell you that your wife.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Her daughter, right?
- 22:33Speaker 8: Isn't actually her daughter.
- 22:35Speaker 2: How does that even happen.
- 22:37Speaker 3: So your mother-in-law admits that your wife was actually adopted
- 22:41Speaker 3: so you.
- 22:41Speaker 8: Gotta swear you're not gonna say anything and say anything
- 22:44Speaker 8: to your wife you know and so i'm like uh
- 22:47Speaker 8: this is crazy like i don't know how are you
- 22:50Speaker 8: gonna drop a bomb like that on me and then
- 22:52Speaker 8: just let me just leave.
- 22:54Speaker 3: It you know so so what's your plan I mean,
- 22:56Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 22:56Speaker 8: I've been I've been wrestling with this ever since. Like,
- 22:59Speaker 8: should I let my wife know that she told me this?
- 23:01Speaker 6: You know, should I?
- 23:02Speaker 8: Because I got all these questions, you know, like how
- 23:05Speaker 8: that what what even happened?
- 23:07Speaker 6: Wow.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I can see why you're torn. But my first reaction
- 23:10Speaker 3: to you is you got to tell your wife, man,
- 23:12Speaker 3: your loyalties to her, not the mother in law.
- 23:15Speaker 2: That's a good point. And, you know, normally these things
- 23:18Speaker 2: are kind of kept sort of quiet and she didn't
- 23:21Speaker 2: even tell her daughter. I think, well, maybe you need
- 23:24Speaker 2: to encourage the mother-in-law to go talk to her daughter
- 23:27Speaker 2: about her own history before you go bringing it up.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Yes. Ultimatum that thing. You're right.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Just make sure she's in the right state of mind,
- 23:37Speaker 2: if you know what I mean, before you go throwing
- 23:39Speaker 2: the ultimatums around. Dave, you want me to see if
- 23:41Speaker 2: there's anybody who's got some ideas that might be able
- 23:43Speaker 2: to help you this morning?
- 23:45Speaker 8: I guess.
- 23:46Speaker 2: All right, then. Will you hang on?
- 23:48Speaker 8: 866-927-4361.
- 23:48Speaker 2: What should Dave in Alexandria do? Should he tell his
- 23:50Speaker 2: wife that she's adopted? Or should he put it back
- 23:59Speaker 2: on the mother-in-law? Or maybe you have a completely different
- 24:02Speaker 2: way of thinking about it. Let us know at 866-927-4361.
