- 0:00Speaker 1: Here we are guys, last break of the day on
- 0:03Speaker 1: this Wednesday, and we thank you so much for joining
- 0:06Speaker 1: us every single day. Junior, you got a question for
- 0:09Speaker 1: Steve to take us out.
- 0:10Speaker 2: I do uh, you know, with so many people just
- 0:13Speaker 2: going going with anything, just I see this, I think
- 0:16Speaker 2: we should do this or do that. But I want
- 0:18Speaker 2: you to talk to us and explain to us about
- 0:21Speaker 2: about integrity. How do you feel about integrity in situations
- 0:25Speaker 2: that we see today on television and things that you
- 0:28Speaker 2: see trends in and then how you view it?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Well, you know, because we live in such a see me,
- 0:38Speaker 1: do me, watch me society. Now, everybody's content creators. Everybody's
- 0:45Speaker 1: trying to do something to trend. Everybody's trying to come
- 0:48Speaker 1: up with the next ice bucket challenge. You know, it's
- 0:52Speaker 1: just people trying to capitalize on getting clicks views all this.
- 1:03Speaker 1: It's like fashion. Everything that's in style ain't for you.
- 1:09Speaker 2: You.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Everybody don't have a body type for every fashion statement
- 1:13Speaker 1: that comes out, you know you. And the way you
- 1:17Speaker 1: get around this is to thine own self, be true.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Look you, look you you You can try to fool
- 1:26Speaker 1: somebody else but I but but get out of the
- 1:29Speaker 1: fool your self business. At least be true to you.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I I would say, get out of the fool anybody business.
- 1:37Speaker 1: But you really can't fool yourself because if you fool yourself, man,
- 1:42Speaker 1: you gonna make all kinds of or wayward decisions. Skinny
- 1:46Speaker 1: jeans was the thing for a while. Why would I
- 1:49Speaker 1: buy a pair of skinny jeans and I'm not skinny?
- 1:52Speaker 1: It don't make no sense, it it It just don't
- 1:55Speaker 1: make no sense. Why would I wear a leopard skin
- 2:03Speaker 1: jumpsuit skin tight? If you don't have a body for that,
- 2:08Speaker 1: Why would you have that on? You know, and women
- 2:12Speaker 1: do it a lot. Oh that's sexy on her, but
- 2:17Speaker 1: it may not be flattering to you, at least to
- 2:19Speaker 1: your own self. Be true when you look in the mirror. Now,
- 2:23Speaker 1: if you're not true to yourself. Do you know there
- 2:27Speaker 1: are people that no matter how they look, they look
- 2:29Speaker 1: in the mirror and they go coo, I got it
- 2:32Speaker 1: going on, And that's how they feel about theirself. Now,
- 2:36Speaker 1: guess what. I'm a proponent of feeling good about who
- 2:39Speaker 1: you are. I think that a person should feel good
- 2:41Speaker 1: about themselves. But don't fool yourself into making things cause
- 2:46Speaker 1: you feel good about yourself. You look good to everybody too,
- 2:49Speaker 1: because that ain't gonna be the case. And when you
- 2:52Speaker 1: go out inside with this stuff on, and you are
- 2:55Speaker 1: open to public scrutiny and criticism, and I see it
- 2:59Speaker 1: all the time. You know how you were raised to
- 3:02Speaker 1: do the right thing. And just cause you see some
- 3:04Speaker 1: guys getting away with the wrong thing, don't mean you
- 3:06Speaker 1: ought to do it. Yeah, you can make money selling dope,
- 3:10Speaker 1: but you gonna go to jail. You gonna do sometime,
- 3:14Speaker 1: and you might get killed. You're gonna pay for that.
- 3:17Speaker 1: The prison is full of people sell some drugs. Do
- 3:22Speaker 1: you know that. I've read a statistic somewhere to say
- 3:25Speaker 1: eighty percent of prison inmates are in there for some
- 3:28Speaker 1: drug related offense, whether it was using, selling, stealing to
- 3:33Speaker 1: get it, line distribution, traveling, trafficing, something like that. I've
- 3:40Speaker 1: read that. So you know, look, what I've tried to
- 3:44Speaker 1: do is understand who I was. You know, I owe
- 3:47Speaker 1: this to my mother because my mother, when I was
- 3:50Speaker 1: fifteen years old, she told me, she says, Steve, you
- 3:52Speaker 1: should read the Book of Proverbs. Proverbs in the Bible
- 3:56Speaker 1: is the book of wisdom and understanding. And I'm really
- 3:58Speaker 1: hot on this subject right now, because I just did
- 4:00Speaker 1: something really cool and they'll be finished with it tomorrow.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I'll pick it up. But I did something really cool
- 4:07Speaker 1: to honor my mother, and I'll explain the story to
- 4:10Speaker 1: you all once I get it done. When I post it,
- 4:13Speaker 1: I think i'll post it. I probably won't anyway, man,
- 4:19Speaker 1: I just ain't good at posting. Man. But anyway, she
- 4:23Speaker 1: told me about the Book of Proverbs. Cause Book of Proverbs,
- 4:26Speaker 1: book of wisdom and understanding. And so at fifteen years old,
- 4:29Speaker 1: and I kid you not, I started asking God for
- 4:32Speaker 1: wisdom and understanding because it's more powerful than silver and gold.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It's more important. It will keep you when you are
- 4:41Speaker 1: all out of silver and have no gold. Wisdom and
- 4:46Speaker 1: understanding is important, man, And I praise God for that
- 4:49Speaker 1: because he did give me a level of wisdom and understanding.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Am I the wisest person on earth?
- 4:55Speaker 2: No?
- 4:55Speaker 1: Am I the most understanding personal? No. The wisdom and
- 5:00Speaker 1: that understand that I have has served me well in
- 5:03Speaker 1: my life. When I've gone against it, I've paid the price.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And one of the things that I learned from the
- 5:09Speaker 1: Book of Proverbs was to stay true to who I was.
- 5:13Speaker 1: That wisdom and understanding makes you understand that everything that's
- 5:16Speaker 1: out there ain't for you. Quit blowing in the wind, man,
- 5:21Speaker 1: Quit going with the flow. You ain't water. So I
- 5:25Speaker 1: just go with the flow. I got a friend of
- 5:27Speaker 1: mine that's fifty where he was he's older now, but
- 5:31Speaker 1: when he was fifty five years old, he got two
- 5:34Speaker 1: women pregnant at the same time. You know what he
- 5:38Speaker 1: told me, Man, I'm just going with the flow of
- 5:41Speaker 1: the universe. Hey, dog, you need to get out the universe.
- 5:45Speaker 1: You need to start using your brain because something wrong
- 5:48Speaker 1: with you. You fifty five and it's two young girls
- 5:52Speaker 1: pregnant because of you. Now, I don't know what. You
- 5:55Speaker 1: can't blame that on the universe because you out here
- 5:57Speaker 1: being something you not. You ain't a player. You an
- 6:01Speaker 1: old fool. I don't know where my closing remarks got
- 6:05Speaker 1: off track at, but he did. Hell, I have a
- 6:08Speaker 1: going today. I will talk to God. He loved to
- 6:12Speaker 1: hear from you. Be true to yourself, y'all. Hey, don't
- 6:15Speaker 1: be an old fool. Try that Steve Harvey Morning Show.
