- 0:00Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. It's Jack and Nina. Good morning. Thank
- 0:03Speaker 1: you for having us on. And how often do you
- 0:07Speaker 1: call your mom, your dad?
- 0:09Speaker 2: This is a Dear Abby question. We're going to go
- 0:11Speaker 2: right to this. So this comes from Dear Abby, which
- 0:13Speaker 2: is still going. A woman says she talks with her
- 0:16Speaker 2: grown daughter every day. Okay. On her way to work
- 0:19Speaker 2: and again at night. So they call each other twice
- 0:21Speaker 2: a day, or she calls her daughter twice a day.
- 0:23Speaker 2: And the fiance of this daughter says it's too much. Okay.
- 0:26Speaker 2: You should be spending more time talking with your family
- 0:29Speaker 2: and your kids. And the mother writes, at 25, my
- 0:33Speaker 2: daughter has become my best friend. I don't agree that
- 0:35Speaker 2: it's weird. I believe mothers and daughters who are close
- 0:38Speaker 2: do this. They talk at least once a day. I'm
- 0:41Speaker 2: very lucky. I help her with decisions. We talk about everything.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Seems like a lot. It does. Not to be judgy. No,
- 0:47Speaker 2: it doesn't. But I'm going to judge. It seems like
- 0:49Speaker 2: a lot.
- 0:50Speaker 1: No, I think, well, there's two things going on. I
- 0:53Speaker 1: think mothers and daughters have somewhat times a closer relationship.
- 0:58Speaker 1: uh traditionally i also think now that everybody has a
- 1:01Speaker 1: phone you have access yeah to call and speak every
- 1:04Speaker 1: day it's more often how.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Often does your do your daughter and.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Uh our daughter lives with us so it's every damn
- 1:10Speaker 1: day so let's just get that out of the way
- 1:13Speaker 1: no we love her very much and she's welcome to
- 1:16Speaker 1: stay um my my uh my wife reaches out to
- 1:20Speaker 1: my son every day really yeah they have themselves on
- 1:23Speaker 1: like that apple thing where you know where somebody is
- 1:26Speaker 1: so she'll look to see if he's at work.
- 1:28Speaker 2: My nephew actually wants me he's like you should look
- 1:31Speaker 2: and see where i am i've i've set you up
- 1:32Speaker 2: on your phone so you can do that i don't
- 1:34Speaker 2: want to know where he is well then he knows
- 1:35Speaker 2: not even my kid you are yeah i don't want
- 1:38Speaker 2: to do that i'm not into that at all you
- 1:39Speaker 2: don't want that at all no.
- 1:40Speaker 1: But i think it's i don't know you know what
- 1:42Speaker 1: when you are establishing a relationship uh like when i
- 1:46Speaker 1: was getting married to my wife and her closeness to
- 1:49Speaker 1: her mom because she'd been living with her yeah used
- 1:51Speaker 1: to talking to her every day A little separation just
- 1:54Speaker 1: makes you feel like, okay, I'm important now.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Well, that's the thing. I think the guys feel like
- 1:59Speaker 2: they're always going to be competing against the mother.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And you will be for the rest of your life.
- 2:03Speaker 2: You probably will be.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yeah. My husband talks to his mom a lot.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Well, that's nice that they're close.
- 2:10Speaker 2: It is lovely. Oh, lovely. It is lovely.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Why don't we have the cameras on you right now?
- 2:17Speaker 2: Anyway, good for them. Good for them. Let's just leave
- 2:19Speaker 2: it there.
