- 3:04Speaker 11: You know, you know what they say, Tom Flaws when
- 3:06Speaker 11: you're having fun, Matte, I mean, can you not have

- 3:12Speaker 10: Records multiple sports again? Jake is gone today. Hester is
- 3:18Speaker 10: out for the day. I believe he will be joining
- 3:21Speaker 10: us in studio the rest of the week. He's taken
- 3:24Speaker 10: so much needed rn R guy's a hard worker. Look,
- 3:29Speaker 10: he got onto us a little bit. We gave him
- 3:30Speaker 10: a hard time last week when he was out.
- 3:32Speaker 11: About the UH, his new schedule, about his new schedule,
- 3:35Speaker 11: about him being a little less gritty than he used
- 3:38Speaker 11: to be, identifying as RB one and set it FB one.
- 3:43Speaker 11: But we gave him the full back one title back
- 3:46Speaker 11: by the end of last week. But he is he
- 3:49Speaker 11: is out in a little R and R and do
- 3:51Speaker 11: a little vacation, spending it with the family. So hopefully
- 3:53Speaker 11: he's able to turn his brain off a little bit.
- 3:56Speaker 11: Kind of a hard worker. Talks a lot of sports
- 3:58Speaker 11: here here and there.
- 4:00Speaker 10: You know, only three hours of the morning, three hours
- 4:01Speaker 10: in the afternoon, same schedule, by the way, as is college.
- 4:05Speaker 10: Just a little bit more tired talking about NFL. It's
- 4:10Speaker 10: a different workload, Mattison.
- 4:12Speaker 11: It's a different workload schedule he's doing over there.
- 4:16Speaker 10: Before we get into some weekend winters and the Losers.
- 4:20Speaker 10: Want to make sure and remind everybody that if you
- 4:24Speaker 10: need to get some groceries, go to the best grocery
- 4:26Speaker 10: store in Louisiana and the Gulf South as well, Rowssrouses
- 4:30Speaker 10: dot com. Go to their website, whether it's on your handheld,
- 4:34Speaker 10: whether it's on your computer or whatever. It's go their
- 4:36Speaker 10: website when you are about to go grocery shop, and
- 4:38Speaker 10: a little prep before the shop and go their website.
- 4:41Speaker 10: Go type in your zip code and it's going to
- 4:43Speaker 10: give you a list of all your local Rouse's markets
- 4:45Speaker 10: closest to your house, and it's also going to give
- 4:47Speaker 10: you the deals that they're running. Here's the discount on
- 4:51Speaker 10: this cut of meat. Here's the discount on these chips.
- 4:53Speaker 10: Here's the discount here and there. They're going to show
- 4:55Speaker 10: you all those places that you can save, so maybe
- 4:58Speaker 10: you could go buy some stuff, saved some money for
- 5:01Speaker 10: your local Rouses. And every rouse is a little bit different.
- 5:03Speaker 10: That's why you gotta go to the website. Type in
- 5:04Speaker 10: your zipode because the deals in Baton Rouge might be
- 5:07Speaker 10: a little different than the deals in Lafayette or New
- 5:09Speaker 10: Orleans or Mobile, Alabama, doesn't matter where it is, So
- 5:12Speaker 10: go check them out. Grocery stop with the local company
- 5:16Speaker 10: that is started here in Louisiana, cares about Louisiana and
- 5:21Speaker 10: is the best of what they do. Incredible stores, incredible people,
- 5:24Speaker 10: incredible products. You go check them out Ralses Rouses dot Com.
- 5:28Speaker 10: All right, it was an exciting weekend full of a
- 5:31Speaker 10: lot of highlights. And we've talked about all the LSU
- 5:33Speaker 10: highlights certainly, and but let's kind of go around the room.
- 5:38Speaker 10: Let's go around the country. It's for a little weekend
- 5:41Speaker 10: winners and losers.
- 5:44Speaker 12: That's how it has done.
- 5:45Speaker 13: That's right. We can't have anyone to freak out out there.
- 5:48Speaker 12: Okay, he's got a k bark. Apologer, got too far.
- 5:53Speaker 12: I'm by winning. I win here and I win there.
- 5:56Speaker 14: Now, what are you doing what it takes to win
- 6:00Speaker 14: a championship?
- 6:01Speaker 15: Wow?
- 6:01Speaker 12: Winning? Well, then I guess there's only one thing left
- 6:05Speaker 12: to do. What's that win the whole thing?
- 6:15Speaker 16: All?
- 6:16Speaker 10: Right, here we go. Let's get started in baseball, and
- 6:19Speaker 10: not college baseball. Let's go to the MLB. I don't
- 6:22Speaker 10: know if I've ever seen anything like this. The Los
- 6:26Speaker 10: Angeles Angels we're playing. They're right fielder Joe Adele. He
- 6:31Speaker 10: completely should be arrested. Why because he robbed the Seattle Mariners,
- 6:39Speaker 10: not once, not twice, but three home runs. Joe Adele
- 6:44Speaker 10: had bona fide home run saving catches. Not like they
- 6:48Speaker 10: jump and they catch a blow defense and their glove
- 6:51Speaker 10: goes over. No, we're talking balls that would clearly be out,
- 6:54Speaker 10: including this one we're watching right here, the third one where.
- 6:57Speaker 12: He absolutely goes into the stands.
- 7:01Speaker 10: It makes one of the greatest catches you're gonna see
- 7:04Speaker 10: on the baseball diamond. And yeah, celebrate it, Joe, because
- 7:09Speaker 10: you're an off the bench weekend winner here on a Monday,
- 7:12Speaker 10: because you saved the game, not once, not twice, but
- 7:17Speaker 10: three saved home runs, which will you get one of them?
- 7:23Speaker 10: It's a highlight reel for you, like you get want
- 7:25Speaker 10: that opportunity. And here's one of the greatest steal shots
- 7:28Speaker 10: you're ever gonna see in baseball. Someone took it off
- 7:32Speaker 10: their cell phone while it happened, had the composure to
- 7:35Speaker 10: sit there snap this shot of Joe Adell holding the
- 7:38Speaker 10: ball up while standing in the stands. And you got
- 7:42Speaker 10: his teammates with their arms up of course hugs, I'm
- 7:44Speaker 10: sure from the from his teammates and and the pitcher certainly.
- 7:49Speaker 10: I mean that pitcher's stats look a hell of a
- 7:51Speaker 10: lot better this morning than they would have. But the
- 7:53Speaker 10: Angels go on to win the game, beat the Mariners
- 7:55Speaker 10: because of three saved home runs. Incredible, Joe Adell. You
- 7:59Speaker 10: didn't think you'd hear your new here on Baton Rouge
- 8:02Speaker 10: mid Market morning sports radio, but you did. That's what
- 8:05Speaker 10: happens when you make three incredible plays. So rast of him.
- 8:08Speaker 10: That was fun to watch.
- 8:09Speaker 11: I told you I have seen the first two and
- 8:11Speaker 11: had it on in the background. Didn't see the third.
- 8:13Speaker 11: It looks like his glove is actually in foul territory
- 8:16Speaker 11: when he catches this ball.
- 8:18Speaker 12: So there's his glove right there. Uh huh. So, I
- 8:20Speaker 12: mean he lays out for it like.
- 8:22Speaker 10: So it's just turning around the foul. It's a fair ball. Yeah,
- 8:26Speaker 10: that's an incredible cuts. It's an unbelievable men benefited from
- 8:31Speaker 10: the short fence on that far side.
- 8:32Speaker 12: Of the right. Look at look at it, Look at
- 8:34Speaker 12: the batter. It's the best part.
- 8:35Speaker 10: He's like, kidd me. So, I don't know, you give
- 8:42Speaker 10: him some sort of award. I know it's only April
- 8:46Speaker 10: sixth to day, but you got to give him something.
- 8:47Speaker 11: But they used to give on college football the good
- 8:49Speaker 11: hands play of the day, Good hands hands.
- 8:52Speaker 10: Give him the good buddy even better. He's on our
- 8:55Speaker 10: weekend winners and losers. Good for you. We'll send him.
- 8:58Speaker 10: Can you clip it and send it to him?
- 8:59Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, I gotta see mil already. Okay, thank you,
- 9:03Speaker 12: all right.
- 9:04Speaker 13: So we're gonna change the sport a little bit.
- 9:06Speaker 11: Uh.
- 9:06Speaker 17: In the NBA, so Cooper flag has a Rookie of
- 9:10Speaker 17: the Year's statement weekend, I would say not game weekend.
- 9:13Speaker 17: He put up ninety six points in a two game span.
- 9:17Speaker 17: Mind you, he is nineteen years old doing this, and uh,
- 9:22Speaker 17: he is the first teenager to put up at least
- 9:25Speaker 17: fifty points. And let's see it says the first rookie
- 9:30Speaker 17: to score at least forty five points in consecutive games
- 9:33Speaker 17: was Wilt Chamberlain.
- 9:34Speaker 13: That was the last time that was ever done.
- 9:36Speaker 12: And we're not even sure if he did it.
- 9:38Speaker 17: Hey, I mean, I honestly believed the hundred point game
- 9:41Speaker 17: now ever since been got the eighty three.
- 9:43Speaker 12: I mean he held up a piece of paper that
- 9:45Speaker 12: set one hundred.
- 9:45Speaker 17: Well no, no, no, no, no, But for Bams like eighty three,
- 9:49Speaker 17: I still think Will easily got the hundred just because
- 9:52Speaker 17: he was a foot tall and everybody and there was.
- 9:53Speaker 13: No goaltending back then, so he stole people's shots.
- 9:56Speaker 12: It was the radio call or video call or anything
- 9:59Speaker 12: of it.
- 9:59Speaker 11: But I'll tell you what I've seen that piece of paper,
- 10:01Speaker 11: So I'm with you absolutely. I'm with you on the
- 10:04Speaker 11: the fact about the Cooper flag. Yeah, really good at
- 10:06Speaker 11: basketball if anybody didn't know.
- 10:07Speaker 10: Yeah, unbelievable by the way, Like what he's doing at
- 10:11Speaker 10: nineteen years old, and I say, unbelievable. From the sports
- 10:14Speaker 10: card market too. His market is stupid, insane, Like if
- 10:20Speaker 10: you pull up I've seen some cards pulled of vis
- 10:23Speaker 10: I was in. I was watching a card break and
- 10:27Speaker 10: I almost had the Mavericks. Myself almost got the Mavericks.
- 10:31Speaker 10: I was like, I was like, should have? I decided
- 10:34Speaker 10: to stay out and they hit a card. It was
- 10:38Speaker 10: a tops chrome autographed one of two printed card. It's
- 10:43Speaker 10: a six figure card. And I'm not even upset about it.
- 10:49Speaker 10: I'm not hurt.
- 10:50Speaker 12: You're hurt, so don't think about it.
- 10:53Speaker 10: Sounds like you're over it. Yeah, I'm definitely over it.
- 10:55Speaker 10: It was it was a It was a monster. So
- 10:57Speaker 10: heper like, I know, he's really good, and his card
- 11:00Speaker 10: market certainly shows it, because of course he's on his
- 11:03Speaker 10: rookie cards right now.
- 11:06Speaker 12: I was gonna be over here sulking. You go, Taylor. Yeah,
- 11:10Speaker 12: so weekend winner for me.
- 11:11Speaker 11: We talked about it a little bit earlier. The UCLA
- 11:13Speaker 11: Bruins women's basketball team. I mean, you get a twenty
- 11:16Speaker 11: eight point win over the dominant South Carolina game Cocks.
- 11:21Speaker 11: Corey Close, their head coach. She's been there fifteen years.
- 11:25Speaker 11: The her first national championship. And if you followed the
- 11:28Speaker 11: women's NCAA tournament for a number of years, you'll know
- 11:31Speaker 11: the UCLA has been really really close for a while now.
- 11:34Speaker 11: I mean, they seem like they were just nipping at
- 11:37Speaker 11: everybody's heels and they finally got over that hamp yesterday
- 11:40Speaker 11: against South Carolina. It was great to see she was emotional, obviously,
- 11:44Speaker 11: great job UCLA Women's basketball.
- 11:47Speaker 12: Yeah, and.
- 11:50Speaker 10: I saw the like I saw Don Staley talking about
- 11:52Speaker 10: it after the game, and she gave them a lot
- 11:55Speaker 10: of props.
- 11:55Speaker 12: She says, No, I'm not like, I'm.
- 11:57Speaker 10: Not upset about this because it is a program that
- 12:00Speaker 10: does things the right way and uh, with a coach
- 12:04Speaker 10: that handles business the right way. Taylor just sent you
- 12:08Speaker 10: a video. I'd like for you to pull that up
- 12:10Speaker 10: when you get a chance, and it's going to take
- 12:11Speaker 10: you a second. It was this is going to be
- 12:15Speaker 10: a weekend loser, and it was a clip that was
- 12:18Speaker 10: making its rounds on social media this weekend, and it
- 12:21Speaker 10: really just.
- 12:21Speaker 12: Made me laugh a whole lot.
- 12:23Speaker 10: Look, I was a Rangers fan in the nineties, so
- 12:26Speaker 10: I was at there's a point in time where I
- 12:28Speaker 10: was a Jose Canseco fan that of course, ose and
- 12:31Speaker 10: Seko is known for you know, maybe some performance enhancing situations,
- 12:36Speaker 10: but he's certainly known for big biceps, the long ball.
- 12:38Speaker 10: But he's also very well known for a ball hitting
- 12:42Speaker 10: off his head and then going over the fence for
- 12:45Speaker 10: a home run. Well, Kosek and Seko, your watch has ended.
- 12:52Speaker 10: There is somebody new and again in a baseball game
- 12:56Speaker 10: this past weekend Highland University. Because the thing versus Butler,
- 13:01Speaker 10: who have actually heard of We're playing baseball and Butler
- 13:08Speaker 10: hits a routine pop fly. The center field center fielder
- 13:14Speaker 10: gets under the ball just like he's taught, just like
- 13:16Speaker 10: he's worked a hundred times.
- 13:18Speaker 12: Doink right off the forehead.
- 13:22Speaker 10: Ball bounces about twenty twenty five feet behind him. So
- 13:27Speaker 10: this wasn't like a Jose canseeko warning track situation where
- 13:31Speaker 10: he jumps up, hits off his head, it bounces a
- 13:33Speaker 10: couple of feet. Nope, this is middle of This is
- 13:36Speaker 10: dead center field. Ball bounces so hard off the kids forehead.
- 13:40Speaker 10: It bounces I mean I'm saying no less than twenty
- 13:43Speaker 10: feet backwards.
- 13:44Speaker 13: Yeah, there's no coming back.
- 13:45Speaker 11: It goes out, it goes out of frame. Watch us,
- 13:47Speaker 11: here we go. It goes out of frame. I mean,
- 13:50Speaker 11: I got absolute ironhead here.
- 13:54Speaker 12: Doink? Oh? I mean, are you emotional? He stay in
- 14:00Speaker 12: the game at the point? I mean physically, I don't
- 14:03Speaker 12: know how he did it.
- 14:04Speaker 11: I'm just talking emotionally, like can you can you stay
- 14:06Speaker 11: in the game?
- 14:07Speaker 12: Are you like? Hit him so hard?
- 14:09Speaker 10: Like you we were talking about the moon last week
- 14:11Speaker 10: and how you said that the meteors are hitting the
- 14:16Speaker 10: moon so hard from the back sid it's cratering the
- 14:19Speaker 10: front side. It's got to be the answer. This has
- 14:21Speaker 10: got like he hit him in the forehead. There might
- 14:24Speaker 10: be a crater on the back of his head. It
- 14:25Speaker 10: hit so hard.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Uh.
- 14:27Speaker 10: And I don't think I've ever seen a ball bounce
- 14:29Speaker 10: like that off of a head like jose Canseeko's was decent,
- 14:32Speaker 10: but it was like a little kaplunk, like a little
- 14:34Speaker 10: clink in a little just barely over the fence. This
- 14:38Speaker 10: one might have cleared the fence. Well, we don't really So.
- 14:42Speaker 11: If you watch the batter, look after it after it
- 14:44Speaker 11: clinks off the head. Watched the batter, He's like, no,
- 14:46Speaker 11: that went over. Look he does the he does.
- 14:48Speaker 10: Oh yeah, I got a guess off his head just
- 14:51Speaker 10: like it drew it up He's like, hold on, can
- 14:54Speaker 10: I go back, get my bat off the ground and flip.
- 14:58Speaker 11: It the higher the ball ricochet or seth daughter's bat
- 15:02Speaker 11: flip last week.
- 15:04Speaker 12: That's a really good question.
- 15:05Speaker 11: I mean, that's that's it's it's closed. The ball went
- 15:09Speaker 11: over the fence.
- 15:10Speaker 12: It looks like so I'm gonna say maybe the ball
- 15:12Speaker 12: m hm.
- 15:13Speaker 10: And that was a two out to third, you know,
- 15:15Speaker 10: I don't know, probably significant the game. Who knows who
- 15:18Speaker 10: that center fielder was or but like it's just a
- 15:22Speaker 10: fun plan so we can loser. That's center fielder. But
- 15:25Speaker 10: good for you for having a really hard hit, fixed skull.
- 15:32Speaker 10: Anybody else anything.
- 15:33Speaker 17: I guess speaking of hard of his do y'all have
- 15:35Speaker 17: y'all heard any update on uh Serna? How's he doing
- 15:39Speaker 17: after the kind of collision he had yesterday?
- 15:43Speaker 12: Yeah, I haven't heard of anything.
- 15:45Speaker 13: Nothing.
- 15:46Speaker 17: You think it's like concussion probably, I mean it looked
- 15:48Speaker 17: like it looked like you passed out at least immediately
- 15:52Speaker 17: after the hit.
- 15:53Speaker 12: Mmm.
- 15:57Speaker 13: Hope everything's okay for him, though.
- 15:59Speaker 12: He's gonna be tough kid. Yeah, I'm goodt say that again.
- 16:05Speaker 12: I said, I'm good, all.
- 16:06Speaker 10: Right, I got one more we can winter Connor Griffin.
- 16:15Speaker 10: He signs a nine year, one hundred and forty million
- 16:17Speaker 10: dollar deal with the Pirates before.
- 16:20Speaker 12: Making his Major League Baseball DABA.
- 16:23Speaker 10: This might have happened right before the weekend, but still
- 16:25Speaker 10: it was new to me this weekend. Holy cow, and
- 16:28Speaker 10: the guy nineteen years old absolutely looks the part as well,
- 16:36Speaker 10: a guy that for the Pirates.
- 16:38Speaker 12: Not only did they get a difference maker to last.
- 16:40Speaker 10: Year with Paul Skeens, but they certainly got what seems
- 16:46Speaker 10: to be a difference maker for a long time in
- 16:48Speaker 10: mister Connor Griffin.
- 16:50Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 16:50Speaker 11: I mean, look at that play right there, but you
- 16:53Speaker 11: got good fielding now with pitching. How to tell you what?
- 16:57Speaker 11: They get their hitting down. That's all three phases right there.
- 17:00Speaker 11: What I mean, Look, it's a diving catch. Somebody lets
- 17:07Speaker 11: the Pirates note that you should be good in all three.
- 17:10Speaker 11: They might get it down, yep, might speak.
- 17:12Speaker 10: Some kid that seems like a really good kid, good
- 17:14Speaker 10: human being, signs a long term deal with them at
- 17:18Speaker 10: nineteen and just goes in first the bat. I think
- 17:21Speaker 10: it's a double. It's a double. Makes plays like that
- 17:24Speaker 10: playing shorts. We can win it for him as well.
- 17:27Speaker 10: Some say they could win double digit games this year.
- 17:29Speaker 10: Shut up, it's it's a rumor. Do you think Skins
- 17:33Speaker 10: can finally win, you know, win close to the mount
- 17:36Speaker 10: that he loses? Yeah, I mean maybe five hundred records.
- 17:39Speaker 10: Terrible record that guy?
- 17:42Speaker 12: Is he even that good?
- 17:43Speaker 18: Is he?
- 17:43Speaker 12: People are talking, people are talking. Know what they say
- 17:46Speaker 12: you are what your record says you are not?
- 17:50Speaker 10: And certainly we could have gone down the list and
- 17:52Speaker 10: we talked about all the LSU sports and all their
- 17:55Speaker 10: records that were broken this past weekend in LSU athletics,
- 17:59Speaker 10: but we've kind of talked about that a lot. So
- 18:01Speaker 10: we gave some We gave a moment or two for
- 18:03Speaker 10: some other people to shine here, and especially that guy
- 18:06Speaker 10: from Highland University, we gave his forehead a little time
- 18:09Speaker 10: to shine.
- 18:10Speaker 12: So there you have it.
- 18:11Speaker 10: Well, weekend winners and the losers, all right, we're gonna
- 18:15Speaker 10: come back. We have little Saint stock Ross Jackson might
- 18:18Speaker 10: be talking about something that you know, might hear every

- 25:02Speaker 10: relationship driven, build your future with Palatgroup dot com. All right,
- 25:08Speaker 10: LSU is deep in the midst of springball. I know
- 25:14Speaker 10: there's a lot of position battles ish happening right now.
- 25:21Speaker 10: I think about spring ball and kind of my time
- 25:23Speaker 10: in it and my thoughts, and I've kind of told
- 25:26Speaker 10: you all these thoughts already, Like I don't really put
- 25:30Speaker 10: a lot of stock into anything that happens in springball. Now,
- 25:33Speaker 10: certainly this year is a little bit different or a
- 25:35Speaker 10: lot different because of the lane effects. So there's a
- 25:38Speaker 10: lot more intrigue without practic with what's happening at practice
- 25:42Speaker 10: because of lane lane Kiffen. I mean that is for me,
- 25:45Speaker 10: the only reason why there is intrigue, because he is
- 25:49Speaker 10: such a polarizing figure in college football or college athletics
- 25:53Speaker 10: in general. You just want to see how he operates
- 25:56Speaker 10: with LSU gear on with a shirt that says LSU
- 25:59Speaker 10: on it, hows's prize is going to be run? What
- 26:02Speaker 10: are they like, what's his coaching style? Like how much
- 26:04Speaker 10: access is the media going to have? Like what are
- 26:06Speaker 10: the reps here and there? Like what is the differences
- 26:10Speaker 10: between how he operates and how Brian Kelly operated?
- 26:14Speaker 12: So you know, there's certainly been limited media access.
- 26:17Speaker 10: We don't have the opportunity Jake and I to go
- 26:21Speaker 10: out there too much because they practice in the morning,
- 26:24Speaker 10: but certainly a lot happening and look, there's a lot
- 26:27Speaker 10: of position battles happening, certainly backup quarterback or what we
- 26:31Speaker 10: think is going to be backup quarterback.
- 26:32Speaker 12: You got right.
- 26:33Speaker 10: Tackle, You got all these different positions all over the
- 26:36Speaker 10: field that you just don't know how it's going to
- 26:38Speaker 10: play out once you get to that first game of
- 26:41Speaker 10: the season. Spring training is not going to solve that.
- 26:44Speaker 10: You aren't going to have a resolution or a super clear, concise,
- 26:50Speaker 10: clear cut resolution to anything after spring. Spring training is
- 26:55Speaker 10: really the qualification rounds, like you're trying to figure out
- 26:59Speaker 10: your pole position going into the summer, your pole position
- 27:02Speaker 10: at each competition, going into training camp, and that's all
- 27:07Speaker 10: that it really is. By all right, coach, this is
- 27:10Speaker 10: based on what you did in spring or based on
- 27:12Speaker 10: what I'm doing in spring. I've earned that first rep
- 27:16Speaker 10: in training camp. I've earned that I haven't earned the
- 27:19Speaker 10: starting spot, because nobody should be given a starting spot
- 27:25Speaker 10: or you know, named to backup during spring practice, because
- 27:29Speaker 10: especially kids at this time, like these kids are going
- 27:32Speaker 10: to do a lot, a lot of growing, a lot
- 27:34Speaker 10: of maturing over we all know kids that age, like
- 27:39Speaker 10: how fast things can happen from a maturation standpoint in
- 27:43Speaker 10: just a couple of months, especially when they're learning a
- 27:46Speaker 10: new coach, they're learning a new system, They're being taught
- 27:48Speaker 10: things differently than they have been taught before. And some
- 27:52Speaker 10: people are going to really resonate and connect with the
- 27:56Speaker 10: offense that Lane Kiffen wants to run. They're going to
- 27:58Speaker 10: really resonate with how he teaches because we've all you know,
- 28:02Speaker 10: you remember school, remember being in grade school, college, whatever
- 28:06Speaker 10: it is. There's some professors or some teachers that you
- 28:09Speaker 10: learn more from just because you spoke the same language.
- 28:13Speaker 10: Are you resonated with the way they laid things out
- 28:17Speaker 10: that hit you a little bit better than the way
- 28:19Speaker 10: somebody else. Some people learn visually, some people learn audibly,
- 28:22Speaker 10: Like there's different ways to learn. So there's kids out
- 28:26Speaker 10: there that might really benefit from the way Lane teaches
- 28:30Speaker 10: as opposed to the way the previous coaching staff taught.
- 28:34Speaker 10: So you just don't know how fast people are going
- 28:37Speaker 10: to and to make those strides. So to me, you
- 28:41Speaker 10: come out of Spring, especially Lane, not really knowing anybody
- 28:44Speaker 10: except the kids that he brought from Ole miss He's
- 28:46Speaker 10: still getting to know these kids. So as they fight
- 28:49Speaker 10: for the pole position going into summer into the training camp,
- 28:52Speaker 10: all you're doing is learning all you're doing is teaching,
- 28:56Speaker 10: and as a player, you were trying to soak up
- 28:58Speaker 10: as much knowledge as you can. And you've only been
- 29:03Speaker 10: with the system with his coaching staff, and I guess
- 29:05Speaker 10: specifically we're we're more so talking about the offensive side
- 29:09Speaker 10: of the ball because of the continuity that is on
- 29:12Speaker 10: the defensive coaching staff.
- 29:13Speaker 12: Like of course those guys have been with Blake Baker.
- 29:16Speaker 10: Now certainly there's going to be different ways, there's going
- 29:18Speaker 10: to be different responsibilities, Like the things that Blake Baker
- 29:22Speaker 10: did last year on the field and off the field
- 29:24Speaker 10: might be a little bit different this year. We don't
- 29:26Speaker 10: really know. We're all learning these things together. So just
- 29:31Speaker 10: just be hesitant when you are looking at some of
- 29:33Speaker 10: these position battles and be like, well, you know, let's
- 29:36Speaker 10: let's take quarterback for example, Atlanta Clark looks to be
- 29:40Speaker 10: playing really good.
- 29:42Speaker 12: Right.
- 29:43Speaker 10: It looks to be ahead of who's on which I
- 29:48Speaker 10: don't know who expected it, didn't expect that. Whatever, It's
- 29:50Speaker 10: spring ball and they are out there pridising, pricing and
- 29:55Speaker 10: learning all together.
- 29:57Speaker 12: So what does that mean?
- 29:58Speaker 10: Does that mean Lanta Clark's go to be named the
- 30:00Speaker 10: starting quarterback, the backup quarterback?
- 30:03Speaker 12: No, it's not.
- 30:04Speaker 10: It just means that based on everything that he did
- 30:08Speaker 10: in spring, going into summer and training camp, he might
- 30:11Speaker 10: have the second pole position this other third like he
- 30:14Speaker 10: might be taking the second rep in routes on air,
- 30:17Speaker 10: the second rep when we go to seven on seven,
- 30:19Speaker 10: the second rep when they go to team as opposed
- 30:21Speaker 10: to the third rep. But you go into the second
- 30:24Speaker 10: day and it might be flipped. You might have Hussan
- 30:26Speaker 10: going second every single time. So positions are not going
- 30:30Speaker 10: to be won and lost, but certainly the qualification rounds
- 30:33Speaker 10: are going to be set. And you know, I go
- 30:36Speaker 10: back to kind of what I said, it's some of
- 30:41Speaker 10: these kids are going to learn better and resonate with
- 30:46Speaker 10: the message that's being taught to them from the new staff,
- 30:49Speaker 10: and some might not. There's some guys that just can't
- 30:53Speaker 10: grasp what we're trying to do. Their style of play
- 30:57Speaker 10: that they might think can adapt anything can to the
- 31:00Speaker 10: speed of which they want to perform the offense. So
- 31:04Speaker 10: and those things are going to kind of present themselves
- 31:06Speaker 10: in the spring, but you're not really going to know
- 31:09Speaker 10: until you give these guys at least four, five, six,
- 31:12Speaker 10: seven months of learning a brand new system with a
- 31:16Speaker 10: brand new offense, a brand new snap count don't doing
- 31:19Speaker 10: things differently, and and I can. I can relate to
- 31:23Speaker 10: it because I had to learn a lot of different
- 31:24Speaker 10: offenses in my my football career played. I mean, I
- 31:28Speaker 10: played eight teams in the NFL, and I had to
- 31:30Speaker 10: go from team to team and learn new offenses. And
- 31:34Speaker 10: it was hard because you don't learn any new offense fluently,
- 31:38Speaker 10: like when I when I. When you speak a fluent language,
- 31:41Speaker 10: you just speak and you don't think about what it means,
- 31:43Speaker 10: what the words actually mean. But when you're trying to
- 31:46Speaker 10: learn a new language, what you're doing, it's like, Okay,
- 31:51Speaker 10: I'm learning this new language and oh lah means hello, right,
- 31:56Speaker 10: but you got to play that game in your mind. Okay,
- 31:59Speaker 10: that word means hello, and like I correlate it to
- 32:02Speaker 10: what the current language I speak is right now. Okay,
- 32:06Speaker 10: they might be saying one thing Lane Kiffin's new offense.
- 32:11Speaker 10: He might say zig. Well, the old offense it might
- 32:15Speaker 10: have been called zag, and in their heads they got
- 32:18Speaker 10: to be like, okay, zig means zag, and so they're
- 32:20Speaker 10: all they're they're translating all the new stuff this spring
- 32:24Speaker 10: into the old offense or old terminology that they're used to.
- 32:28Speaker 10: Now you give them a couple of months, they start
- 32:30Speaker 10: speaking in a little bit more fluently, and then eventually
- 32:32Speaker 10: they don't think about that old offense. They don't think
- 32:35Speaker 10: about translating. Okay, this word meant this, some old offense.
- 32:40Speaker 10: They stop doing that. It's this new word means what
- 32:42Speaker 10: it is. I don't even think about it.
- 32:43Speaker 12: I just react to it.
- 32:44Speaker 10: So that's when the truly ones that are going to
- 32:49Speaker 10: adapt and be your starter and the ones that you're
- 32:51Speaker 10: going to rely on throughout the season and the big times,
- 32:53Speaker 10: those are the ones that are going to get there
- 32:55Speaker 10: that can start speaking fluently and it speaks to them
- 32:58Speaker 10: and they can they can really let their talents kind
- 33:02Speaker 10: of show out. But it's not gonna happen for everybody.
- 33:04Speaker 10: So again, spring training not about naming a starter. It's
- 33:07Speaker 10: about that pole position going into the summer and a
- 33:09Speaker 10: training camp. So there was an article written that we're
- 33:13Speaker 10: going to get to next segment, Taylor, kind of the
- 33:15Speaker 10: five things to watch. This is from USA Today. I
- 33:18Speaker 10: know you were intrigued by this five things to watch.
- 33:20Speaker 10: We'll get into that for LSU spring practice when we

- 38:07Speaker 21: Uh.
- 38:08Speaker 10: Let's uh, let's keep the train rolling with a little
- 38:11Speaker 10: l s U football talk. Little LSU football news. There
- 38:16Speaker 10: was an article that came out the USA Today. It
- 38:18Speaker 10: wasn't like spring football specific, but kind of five questions
- 38:22Speaker 10: that we hope to get answered through for LSU football
- 38:26Speaker 10: in Lane Kiffin's first year. And the first one surprise surprise,
- 38:31Speaker 10: it's very quarterback heavy. But the five questions asked by
- 38:33Speaker 10: USA Today was is Sam Levitt gonna be healthy? And
- 38:38Speaker 10: that's the that's the burning question that I think there's
- 38:41Speaker 10: an assumption there that certainly Sam Levit's going to be
- 38:44Speaker 10: healthy for the season. That's why you bring him in,
- 38:46Speaker 10: That's why you pay him the big bucks. That's why
- 38:49Speaker 10: when he leaves here after after you know, kind of
- 38:51Speaker 10: a disappointing visit during the portal window, that Lane Kiffen
- 38:56Speaker 10: gets on a plane and flies the Knoxville to try
- 39:00Speaker 10: to poach him back, to get him back, and you know,
- 39:03Speaker 10: I don't know if we know exactly what the offer is,
- 39:06Speaker 10: but we assume that it's a pretty decent one, A
- 39:09Speaker 10: decent one that is going to solidify your name as
- 39:13Speaker 10: the starter, the starting quarterback for those two Tigers in
- 39:17Speaker 10: twenty twenty six. But will he be healthy? I don't know,
- 39:21Speaker 10: We'll see. I certainly he has been limited, but I
- 39:23Speaker 10: think he's done, Taylor. He's done a little bit more
- 39:24Speaker 10: in practice than he was expected to. He's done basically
- 39:28Speaker 10: everything except seven on seven. And you know, there's been
- 39:32Speaker 10: a lot of people say, is he ahead of schedule?
- 39:33Speaker 10: See behind schedule?
- 39:34Speaker 11: The word I had always heard, like the minute he
- 39:37Speaker 11: entered the portal, is he should be healthy by the
- 39:39Speaker 11: end of May. We're at the beginning of April. He's
- 39:42Speaker 11: got time. I think he's fine. I mean he's out
- 39:45Speaker 11: there throwing routes on air seven and seven. I mean
- 39:47Speaker 11: he's literally doing every eleven eleven right, no, no, seven
- 39:50Speaker 11: on seven.
- 39:51Speaker 12: Yep.
- 39:51Speaker 10: That's where this practice ends. Yep, because usually practice is
- 39:54Speaker 10: like individual individual routes on air, maybe route concepts on
- 39:58Speaker 10: air as a group, then it gets to seven seven.
- 40:00Speaker 10: Then usually from seven on seven you go into team situations.
- 40:03Speaker 10: So that's kind of where his practice is probably ending,
- 40:06Speaker 10: which is fantastic, like all the individual routes on air,
- 40:10Speaker 10: get the timing, you know what. Narrative I don't really
- 40:13Speaker 10: like though that it does stated in this article Lasu's
- 40:16Speaker 10: offense will go as Sam levit goes.
- 40:20Speaker 12: I disagree with I disagree with that as well.
- 40:22Speaker 10: Though of course the offense is always going to go
- 40:24Speaker 10: as the quarterback goes, because it's the most important position
- 40:27Speaker 10: in sports. But to say it had like it relies
- 40:31Speaker 10: solely on one guy's shoulders. Of course, they signed him
- 40:34Speaker 10: to be the starter. That's why you pay him what
- 40:36Speaker 10: you do. But to say it can't be former five
- 40:40Speaker 10: star recruit or Alanta Clark, who has been performing very
- 40:45Speaker 10: well after you come off a year where he did
- 40:47Speaker 10: it with Trinidad Chambliss, a kid from nowhere and he
- 40:52Speaker 10: becomes a Heisman contender, should have gone to the NFL
- 40:55Speaker 10: guy winning in the law and in the courtroom. But
- 41:00Speaker 10: you go to that to make the comment that he
- 41:01Speaker 10: goes as Sam Levick goes. It's absolutely just it's historically
- 41:05Speaker 10: false for Lane Kiffin offense.
- 41:07Speaker 11: Yes, well, and they mentioned Okay, well had a running
- 41:10Speaker 11: quarterback Jackson Dark, Trinidad Shambalass. Guys, everybody on defense in
- 41:14Speaker 11: spring practice has talk about how fast Landon Clark is
- 41:16Speaker 11: and how good he looks talking the ball away, taking
- 41:19Speaker 11: off and running.
- 41:20Speaker 12: My point is it doesn't have to be Sam Levitt.
- 41:22Speaker 11: Like last year during fall camp, I came here and
- 41:25Speaker 11: I think I said, if Garrett Nelsmyer gets hurt. This
- 41:27Speaker 11: team is gonna win four games, and they did a
- 41:28Speaker 11: little bit better than that, but they still weren't good.
- 41:31Speaker 11: I think you're in a much better position top to
- 41:34Speaker 11: bottom quarterback room than you were a year ago. Because
- 41:36Speaker 11: remember Colin Hurley had the car accident in the offseason.
- 41:40Speaker 11: He basically was limited all of fall camp, so you
- 41:43Speaker 11: couldn't turn to him. You had Garrett Nosmart and Michael
- 41:45Speaker 11: Van Buren who had played three games in college.
- 41:48Speaker 12: That's what you had.
- 41:49Speaker 11: Or no, he played he played six games in college,
- 41:51Speaker 11: but he had not even been a starter for a
- 41:53Speaker 11: full season. Did some good, did some bad at Mississippi State,
- 41:55Speaker 11: but was the first year in this system. That's all
- 41:58Speaker 11: you had. I think you have a lot more depth
- 42:00Speaker 11: this year. Whether it's Clerk, whether it's Luxury, whether it's Levitt.
- 42:04Speaker 11: Like I don't want to say it doesn't matter because
- 42:06Speaker 11: obviously you want Sam Levitt to be your starting quarterback.
- 42:09Speaker 11: I understand that, but I think there's other two guys
- 42:11Speaker 11: can get the job.
- 42:12Speaker 10: Done, no doubt. I mean, you've just seen it too
- 42:14Speaker 10: much in Lane Kiffin's offense. So the first question, will
- 42:17Speaker 10: Sam would be healthy? We will certainly that's going to
- 42:19Speaker 10: be the assumption, and that's what him signing here and
- 42:23Speaker 10: getting that contract was under the assumption that he will
- 42:26Speaker 10: certainly be healthy. But to say that it goes as
- 42:29Speaker 10: he goes is just not going to be accurate, especially
- 42:32Speaker 10: with the way Lane Kiffin's offense is run. The next
- 42:35Speaker 10: question is a really intriguing one, and it's going to
- 42:40Speaker 10: you know, you could make probably the comment a little
- 42:42Speaker 10: bit more on this one.
- 42:42Speaker 12: Who started is going to determine the fate of this offense.
- 42:46Speaker 10: Maybe not the fate that's a little extreme, but who's
- 42:48Speaker 10: going to be starting at right tackle? Certainly Weston Davis
- 42:51Speaker 10: was Lshu's right tackle last year, and to say twenty
- 42:56Speaker 10: twenty five wasn't always kind to him would be probably accurate. Now,
- 43:00Speaker 10: whose fault was that?
- 43:01Speaker 12: Really?
- 43:01Speaker 10: Of course you don't want him to see him losing
- 43:03Speaker 10: one on one battles, But the teachings, the coachings, the
- 43:06Speaker 10: philosophies that were given to those kids, nobody was really
- 43:09Speaker 10: set up for success. So what can he do in
- 43:11Speaker 10: a new offense, with a new regime, with new coaches,
- 43:14Speaker 10: with new technique. Are they going to teach different things?
- 43:19Speaker 10: I Location, hat placement, not running dumb RPOs every single time,
- 43:25Speaker 10: where you can't get off to the second the second
- 43:27Speaker 10: level of linebackers when you're run blocking, not knowing when
- 43:30Speaker 10: you're pass rotating because you might be handing it.
- 43:32Speaker 8: Like.
- 43:32Speaker 10: Those are all things that play into it. And I'm
- 43:34Speaker 10: certain and I'm sure going to play in the decision
- 43:36Speaker 10: making when it comes to this. But of course new
- 43:39Speaker 10: offensive coaches. Oh, he also brings in an old miss
- 43:45Speaker 10: offensive lineman, Devin Harper. So who will be starting at
- 43:47Speaker 10: right tackle for the LSU Tigers.
- 43:49Speaker 12: I think this is the most.
- 43:50Speaker 11: Important question in the in the off season is who
- 43:53Speaker 11: gets the right tackle spot, because look, there's competition in
- 43:57Speaker 11: every position with the new coaching stuff. We know that,
- 43:59Speaker 11: But Jordan Seedon has rave reviews around him. I mean,
- 44:02Speaker 11: Kiffin talks about how he'll come up here nine o'clock
- 44:05Speaker 11: on a Sunday night sometimes and Jordan Seeden's out there
- 44:07Speaker 11: on the field doing his own thing. So if he
- 44:10Speaker 11: locks down one side, like, yeah, it could be Weston
- 44:12Speaker 11: Davis Sean Tompkins who they brought over from Baylor. He
- 44:15Speaker 11: started a number of games at left tackle. They could
- 44:17Speaker 11: always kick him over to the other side if they
- 44:19Speaker 11: need to. He's wrapped there a little bit now, Harper,
- 44:22Speaker 11: A lot of people do mention he's tripped a lot
- 44:24Speaker 11: of guard as well, like a lot of guard, probably
- 44:27Speaker 11: more guard than tackle. So far in the spring, he's
- 44:29Speaker 11: done a little bit of both. But don't count on
- 44:31Speaker 11: Bryceton Martinez. We talked about him last year. He's a
- 44:35Speaker 11: true freshman early in Rowley. But he's about six foot seven,
- 44:39Speaker 11: six foot eight, three hundred and twenty pounds, and he's
- 44:42Speaker 11: the guy Matt I played the clip of during weekend Winners.
- 44:44Speaker 11: He lined up at tight end, he lined up at receiver,
- 44:46Speaker 11: at quarterback. I mean he's an end.
- 44:48Speaker 12: Yeah, he's an athletic freak. Coming over.
- 44:51Speaker 11: He was repping second team left tackle behind Jordan Seedon.
- 44:56Speaker 11: But if he picks it up, he played some right
- 44:58Speaker 11: tackle in high school too. Like the I gotta watch,
- 45:00Speaker 11: I think that is the I think that's the hotly
- 45:02Speaker 11: contested battle in the spring, and.
- 45:04Speaker 10: That's gonna be the battle who runs out there first
- 45:06Speaker 10: in the first game. But in all honesty, this competition
- 45:09Speaker 10: is gonna be great for the team because you're gonna
- 45:12Speaker 10: need every single one of those guys at some point
- 45:14Speaker 10: during the season.
- 45:15Speaker 12: Whether it's a big drive.
- 45:16Speaker 10: Whether it's a full game, whether it's half the season,
- 45:19Speaker 10: it's the offensive line, it's a long season. They're in
- 45:22Speaker 10: the trenches. There are things that no one's gonna play
- 45:25Speaker 10: an entire season completely healthy. So this competition is going
- 45:29Speaker 10: to give everybody much needed reps in practice, getting used
- 45:33Speaker 10: to the game. And whoever decides, whoever the starter is,
- 45:36Speaker 10: we hope that they play every snap.
- 45:37Speaker 12: That'd be great.
- 45:38Speaker 10: West and Davis are right seating and left whoever it
- 45:41Speaker 10: ends up being, that'd be great. But in reality, this
- 45:44Speaker 10: is tackle football that doesn't happen. You're gonna need each
- 45:47Speaker 10: and every one of these. The last three questions we'll
- 45:50Speaker 10: get too quick here because I think I think a
- 45:52Speaker 10: couple of them are kind of self explanatory. Harlan Barry,
- 45:55Speaker 10: Caden Durham. Are they gonna split reps or how do
- 45:58Speaker 10: they split the reps? The matter doesn't matter. It doesn't matter.
- 46:01Speaker 10: You got a luxury. This is absolute luxury to have.
- 46:04Speaker 10: We didn't know if Kaden Durham would be here this year. Now,
- 46:07Speaker 10: these guys. Harlan Berry shined last year because he was
- 46:11Speaker 10: really the only guy that could get something going. A
- 46:13Speaker 10: lot of times, the running game was pitiful last year.
- 46:16Speaker 10: We don't need to like make our get red faced
- 46:18Speaker 10: over here getting mad about all of it. Kateen Durham,
- 46:23Speaker 10: he's a baller. Harlan Berry, He's a baller. It doesn't
- 46:27Speaker 10: matter how they split those reps. I'd like to see
- 46:29Speaker 10: the running back rotation improve and be a little bit
- 46:31Speaker 10: more strategic this year. I see both of those guys
- 46:34Speaker 10: having the potential debt both have big years and impact
- 46:38Speaker 10: this offense. Fourth question, does trade as Green reach superstar status?
- 46:42Speaker 10: The answers yes, as long as he stays healthy and
- 46:45Speaker 10: Lane Kiffin and his offensive staff figure out the right
- 46:49Speaker 10: way to utilize this weapon. And weapon can't be said
- 46:53Speaker 10: strong enough. He Trey des has the if they use
- 46:58Speaker 10: him correctly and he stays healthy and be the most
- 47:00Speaker 10: dominant offensive player in college football in twenty twenty six,
- 47:06Speaker 10: It's just a fact like that can happen. He has
- 47:09Speaker 10: the ability, he has the size, he has the mindset,
- 47:13Speaker 10: the attitude. If you can figure out the way to
- 47:18Speaker 10: isolate him, to use him in a very very strategic way,
- 47:24Speaker 10: and by all accounts, that's why we hired Lane right
- 47:27Speaker 10: he can bring his offensive staff, He's had success everywhere.
- 47:31Speaker 10: If they can figure that piece of the puzzle out,
- 47:33Speaker 10: and sometimes having a weapon is hard because you've got
- 47:35Speaker 10: to figure out how to use it. Figure that out.
- 47:38Speaker 10: He can be the most dominant offensive player in the country.
- 47:41Speaker 10: So does he reach superstar status?
- 47:43Speaker 12: Hell? Yes.
- 47:44Speaker 10: How many wide receivers emerge as reliable targets Taylor wants
- 47:48Speaker 10: to use. I mean you sign like forty of them. Yeah,
- 47:51Speaker 10: so as many as Lane wants to use.
- 47:53Speaker 11: I mean Jason Brown, Jackson, Harrison Winston, Watkins have been
- 47:56Speaker 11: the quote unquote starters in the spring, because I don't
- 48:00Speaker 11: think they're starters in the spring.
- 48:01Speaker 12: They've just kind of been running with the ones.
- 48:02Speaker 11: But Eugene Wilson comes over from Florida. He had a
- 48:05Speaker 11: lot of hype around him. Trey Brown as Flash, and
- 48:07Speaker 11: Malik Olsey. They've talked about him. You got three, I think,
- 48:11Speaker 11: really good high school wide receivers that are gonna come
- 48:14Speaker 11: into the fold and continue as as Spring in the
- 48:17Speaker 11: offseason goes along, as many as they want that, as
- 48:20Speaker 11: many guys as they think can make an impact.
- 48:21Speaker 12: Layne's gonna play all love. I'm like we talked about
- 48:23Speaker 12: it last year. It's almost too much. We got too
- 48:25Speaker 12: many weapons.
- 48:26Speaker 11: I think Lane had six guys with at least five
- 48:28Speaker 11: hundred yards receiving last year and nobody over a thousand. Like,
- 48:32Speaker 11: he likes to spread the ball around, so as many
- 48:34Speaker 11: as he think can make an impact, He's not afraid
- 48:36Speaker 11: to just go out there and let him play.
- 48:38Speaker 12: Six guys with over five hundreds.
- 48:40Speaker 10: Yeah, that's what you call a balanced offense, Mike Leach said.
- 48:46Speaker 10: It's not necessarily balance between running pass. It's balanced between
- 48:49Speaker 10: who gets the ball. Wellether, It's a how you get
- 48:53Speaker 10: the ball doesn't really matter. So the forward pass is
- 48:55Speaker 10: it a handoff? It doesn't matter how you get the ball,
- 48:58Speaker 10: as long as you spread who gets the ball around.
- 49:02Speaker 10: So certainly they've signed enough, there's a certainly there will
- 49:05Speaker 10: be a handful of guys that emerge out of that
- 49:08Speaker 10: room as very reliable targets.
- 49:11Speaker 11: So five five guys over six hundred yards, Winston Watkins
- 49:15Speaker 11: had four hundred, he would have been the sixth guy.

- 49:36Speaker 12: ball around. I'll go under.

- 55:29Speaker 10: drink some beer, do responsibility, but make sure you're going
- 55:31Speaker 10: for dose stay thirty my friends with those secis. All right, First,

- 56:29Speaker 10: is a great question which probably deserves more thought than
- 56:33Speaker 10: we're going to give this. Yeah, I always go back
