• 0:13
exciting adventure into the world of one of the most famous
• 0:17
soccer clubs on the planet, Real Madrid.
• 0:20
Imagine a team so popular their fans fill up giant stadiums,
• 0:24
wave big flags and sing songs so loud you can hear them blocks
• 0:28
  away. That's Real Madrid.
• 0:31
But what makes this team so special?
• 0:33
And why do millions of people all over the world cheer for
• 0:36
  them? Let's find out together.
• 0:38
First, let's start with the basics.
• 0:41
Where is Real Madrid from? Real Madrid is a soccer club,
• 0:45
also known as a football club in many countries, from the city of
• 0:48
Madrid, which is the capital of Spain.
• 0:50
Think of Madrid as the big bustling heart of Spain, kind of
• 0:54
like how Washington DC is the capital of the United States.
• 0:58
Now, what does the name Real Madrid mean?
• 1:00
Real is a Spanish word that means royal in English.
• 1:04
So Real Madrid actually means Royal Madrid Isn't that fancy.
• 1:09
The team was given this royal title way back in 1920 by the
• 1:13
King of Spain, which is why you'll see a little crown on
• 1:15
their logo. It's like getting a Gold Star
• 1:18
from the king himself. Real Madrid was founded in 19
• 1:21
O2, which means the club is more than 120 years old.
• 1:25
That's older than your grandparents and maybe even your
• 1:29
great grandparents. Over all these years, Real
• 1:32
Madrid has become one of the most successful and popular
• 1:35
soccer teams in the world. Now let's talk about their home.
• 1:39
Every great team needs a stadium, and Real Madrid's home
• 1:42
  is called Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
• 1:45
This stadium is enormous. It can hold over 80,000 fans.
• 1:50
Imagine your school gym and then imagine it filled with so many
• 1:54
people that you'd have to stack a bunch of gyms on top of each
• 1:56
other just to fit them all in. That's how massive the Bernabeu
• 2:00
is. When Real Madrid plays at home,
• 2:03
the stadium turns into a sea of white shirts because white is
• 2:06
the team's main color. The players are even called Los
• 2:10
Blancos, which means the whites in Spanish.
• 2:13
Their uniforms are all white, just like fresh snow, which
• 2:17
makes them look super cool and easy to spot on the field.
• 2:20
But what about their rivals? Every great story has a rival,
• 2:24
and for Real Madrid, one of the biggest rivalries is with
• 2:27
another Spanish team called FC Barcelona.
• 2:30
When these two teams play against each other, it's called
• 2:33
El Clasico. It's like the ultimate
• 2:36
schoolyard showdown, with fans from both sides getting really
• 2:39
excited. People all over the world watch
• 2:42
El Clasico and it's one of the most watched soccer matches
• 2:46
  anywhere. Let's talk about trophies,
• 2:48
because what's a team without some shiny prizes?
• 2:52
Real Madrid has won more trophies than almost any other
• 2:55
soccer club in history. They've won the Spanish league
• 2:58
called La Liga many times. Winning La Liga is like being
• 3:02
the best team in your whole country for the year.
• 3:04
But Real Madrid isn't just famous in Spain, they're famous
• 3:08
everywhere. They've also won the UEFA
• 3:11
Champions League, which is a huge tournament for the best
• 3:14
teams in Europe, more times than anyone else.
• 3:18
It's like the Olympics of club soccer, and Real Madrid is the
• 3:21
champion over and over again. Did you know that Real Madrid
• 3:25
has won the Champions League 14 times?
• 3:27
That's more than any other club ever.
• 3:30
Imagine winning your school's spelling bee 14 years in a row.
• 3:34
Now that's impressive. Now, let's meet some of the
• 3:37
famous players who have worn the Real Madrid jersey over the
• 3:41
years. Many of the world's greatest
• 3:43
soccer stars have played for Real Madrid.
• 3:46
One of the most famous is Cristiano Ronaldo.
• 3:49
He's a superstar known for his incredible goals, amazing speed,
• 3:53
and fancy footwork. Another legendary player is
• 3:56
Alfredo De Stefano, who played for Real Madrid a long time ago
• 4:00
and helped the team win many trophies.
• 4:03
There's also Zinedine Zadon, who is not only a great player but
• 4:06
also became the team's coach and LED them to even more victories.
• 4:10
But Real Madrid isn't just about the stars.
• 4:13
It's a team, and every player, from the goalkeeper to the
• 4:17
defenders, midfielders, and strikers works together like the
• 4:21
pieces of a puzzle. Each person has a special job,
• 4:24
and when they combine their skills, magic happens on the
• 4:27
field. Speaking of magic, did you know
• 4:30
that Real Madrid is famous for making amazing comebacks?
• 4:34
That means even if they're losing, they never give up.
• 4:37
The team fights hard until the last second, and sometimes they
• 4:40
turn the game around and win right at the end.
• 4:43
It's like when you're playing a board game and you're behind,
• 4:46
but you keep trying and end up winning with your final move.
• 4:49
That spirit of never giving up is one of the reasons so many
• 4:53
people love Real Madrid. Now let's talk about the fans.
• 4:57
Real Madrid's fans are called Madridistas.
• 5:00
They come from all over Spain and even from all over the
• 5:03
world. Some fans travel thousands of
• 5:06
miles just to see their favorite team play.
• 5:08
They wear team shirts, scarves and hats, and they sing special

• 5:16
part of a giant, happy family that shares a love for soccer
• 5:20
and for their team. Have you ever heard of a club
• 5:22

• 5:24
Madrid, why not a Moss? Which means go Madrid and
• 5:28
nothing more. It's a way for fans to show
• 5:30
their pride and support for the team.
• 5:33
