- 1:34Speaker 2: Fresh Prints little DJ Jozzy Jeff because it is summertime.
- 1:38Speaker 6: So yesterday writers were dropping Peyton off at Aggie soccer Camp.
- 1:42Speaker 6: The last song playing on the radio is Nightmare Nightmare
- 1:49Speaker 6: on Elm Street. No, no, well, the fresh Print song,
- 1:53Speaker 6: but yeah, night Nightmare on My Streeter now Mary on
- 1:55Speaker 6: my Street. Yeah, And she's like, what is this all right?
- 2:00Speaker 6: I gotta kind of explain because you know, they were
- 2:03Speaker 6: a rap group, but they were kind of the safe
- 2:05Speaker 6: rap group and from the eighties horror movie you know
- 2:10Speaker 6: it was. It was it was fun to explain. It
- 2:12Speaker 6: was like here, let me, let me put this song
- 2:13Speaker 6: on and this makes it all better.
- 2:16Speaker 2: And then if it's the summertime here we will also
- 2:18Speaker 2: start playing a little bit of Dave Matthews having some fun.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Saw a clip the other day that talked about going
- 2:26Speaker 2: back to the spread of music and how it goes,
- 2:30Speaker 2: and it was Dave Matthews saying, like they're part of
- 2:34Speaker 2: What helped them was kind of the old Grateful Dead,
- 2:39Speaker 2: kind of like that letting people play like record their
- 2:42Speaker 2: music live because they weren't getting a lot of radio
- 2:45Speaker 2: play when they.
- 2:46Speaker 3: First when they first came out.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and that like they like they were like the
- 2:50Speaker 2: the original like this or the the revamp of like
- 2:54Speaker 2: college band, because that's where we like people will just
- 2:56Speaker 2: make the cassette tapes and pass them out to the front.
- 3:00Speaker 3: And that's the I mean.
- 3:02Speaker 6: Think about if you go to the early to mid
- 3:06Speaker 6: nineties and you say, here, I want you to listen
- 3:08Speaker 6: to this group. It's a guy on a guitar, there's
- 3:12Speaker 6: a violinist, a saxophone player, and a drummer.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Yeah, that's going to be a hard pass for most
- 3:19Speaker 3: people until.
- 3:20Speaker 6: You to it, and so yeah, I mean to me,
- 3:24Speaker 6: you know, I was shocked when I found out that,
- 3:26Speaker 6: you know, Dave Matthews is South African, which by the way,
- 3:29Speaker 6: I'm guessing he's kind of sad his his home, his
- 3:32Speaker 6: host or his country lost two today. But nonetheless, you know,
- 3:38Speaker 6: I always kind of associated him with say Hoody and
- 3:40Speaker 6: the Blowfish coming out of that South Carolina college college band,
- 3:44Speaker 6: and of course in the in the lineage of R. E.
- 3:47Speaker 6: M and the B fifty two's coming out of Athens, Georgia,
- 3:49Speaker 6: kind of that part of the country. But man, if
- 3:53Speaker 6: I could if I could see Dave Matthews at Red Rock,
- 3:56Speaker 6: that that bucket list right.
- 3:58Speaker 2: There talking a lot of sports today really dove into
- 4:02Speaker 2: and we may go back into it with with all of
- 4:04Speaker 2: the issues going out in Texas Tech and.
- 4:08Speaker 3: We're done. Now, we are done. We will keep on going.
- 4:10Speaker 3: We have so much Oh no.
- 4:14Speaker 7: This segment right here now, do not for a second
- 4:19Speaker 7: thing that I am not about to just dive into
- 4:24Speaker 7: head first what happened to the Spurs last night.
- 4:27Speaker 6: I hope we have enough time with the hour that
- 4:29Speaker 6: is left to talk about this, even if it means
- 4:32Speaker 6: we're gonna have to cram what little World Cup at
- 4:35Speaker 6: the very so yeah, well this all these four games
- 4:42Speaker 6: and and really the these playoffs is I mean, these
- 4:45Speaker 6: playoffs have kind of been a let down because you've
- 4:47Speaker 6: only had I think six games decided by times blow up.
- 4:54Speaker 6: But these these first four games have completely I mean,
- 5:02Speaker 6: it's giving the It's given the Stanley Cup Championship a
- 5:05Speaker 6: run for its money.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Awesome too.
- 5:08Speaker 2: And so yes, last the San Antonio Spurs.
- 5:13Speaker 6: Which have absolutely no love for none and I'm indifferent, absolutely.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Z Like I cannot stand that franchise, Like the fan base,
- 5:25Speaker 2: like and I was I was talking the other day.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Their fan base is the equivalent to me of the
- 5:29Speaker 2: Dallas Cowboys fan base. Like that is how annoying their
- 5:33Speaker 2: fans are with the The only caveat I will give
- 5:37Speaker 2: them is at least they have won some championships in
- 5:40Speaker 2: this century, looking at you Cowboys fans, because I know
- 5:43Speaker 2: you haven't, but they are. The Spurs fans are that
- 5:45Speaker 2: annoying to me, and the the they do an amazing
- 5:50Speaker 2: job and you could almost kind of see it coming
- 5:53Speaker 2: in Game three of fighting back, because again, if I'm
- 5:58Speaker 2: looking at this from a pure basketball endpoint, San Antonio
- 6:01Speaker 2: has played well in every single game, and somehow, whether
- 6:06Speaker 2: it's the the gumption of New York or the game
- 6:11Speaker 2: like the streak that they have been on throughout the
- 6:15Speaker 2: Eastern Conference side of the playoffs, New York has ended
- 6:17Speaker 2: up winning. And they won those two games in San Antonio.
- 6:21Speaker 2: And I think part of that also was San Antonio
- 6:25Speaker 2: unloaded a lot of emotional baggage coming out of the
- 6:28Speaker 2: West and beating they they and people have said this,
- 6:32Speaker 2: I didn't think it was true until now for San Antonio.
- 6:36Speaker 2: I believe beating the Oklahoma City Thunder was their championship.
- 6:40Speaker 6: Well, I mean, we talked about it the last time.
- 6:43Speaker 6: I'm sorry, no, but we talked about it that and
- 6:47Speaker 6: it was kind of the general perception that the Western
- 6:49Speaker 6: Conference Finals was believed to be the true NBA championship
- 6:53Speaker 6: because you thought those are the two best teams going
- 6:55Speaker 6: up against each other, even though statistically speaking, if you
- 6:58Speaker 6: looked at what the Knicks had done, no one else
- 7:01Speaker 6: had done that, not just in the playoffs, ever in
- 7:04Speaker 6: the league. So now, talking like you bring up the
- 7:09Speaker 6: most extually the most pertinent point san Antonio has played, well,
- 7:12Speaker 6: there's actually no reason they shouldn't have swept the Knicks.
- 7:17Speaker 6: This could have been over last night four and oh
- 7:19Speaker 6: it's simply because of what the Knicks were able to
- 7:22Speaker 6: do in San Antonio.
- 7:23Speaker 2: San Antonio has had a ten point lead in every
- 7:26Speaker 2: fourth quarter of every game. Yes, every fourth quarter of
- 7:29Speaker 2: every game. They have had at least a ten point lead.
- 7:31Speaker 2: And they are down three to one.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Now.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Last night, not only did they have a ten point
- 7:37Speaker 2: lead in the fourth quarter, they had a twenty nine
- 7:40Speaker 2: point lead in the third quarter.
- 7:45Speaker 6: I brought my analogical notes. Yes, we have numbers, we
- 7:49Speaker 6: have stats. Okay, folks, I want you, I want you
- 7:54Speaker 6: to just take this. In Teams down twenty in the
- 7:59Speaker 6: postseason for the last two years, the Knicks are five
- 8:02Speaker 6: and three. The rest of the league is four and
- 8:04Speaker 6: seventy one. In Game four, at half, the Knicks had
- 8:10Speaker 6: only made by At halftime, Nicks had only made fifteen
- 8:13Speaker 6: shots in the first half, the Spurs had made fourteen threes. Yes,
- 8:18Speaker 6: before last night, teams down twenty or more in the
- 8:22Speaker 6: fourth quarter were four and seven hundred and fifty. Yep,
- 8:27Speaker 6: until last.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Night, until the Spurs just like and you played, and
- 8:32Speaker 2: I'm glad you did. At the opening of the show today,
- 8:38Speaker 2: Charles Barkley talking about how this was the dumbest basketball
- 8:45Speaker 2: he has seen ever. Michael Wilbond said it this morning.
- 8:49Speaker 2: They talked about it last night as I was as
- 8:52Speaker 2: as nobody left Madison Square Garden last night. No Madison
- 8:57Speaker 2: Square Garden last night.
- 8:58Speaker 6: After that, real quick, let's give it to Mariska Hargaatea, because.
- 9:06Speaker 3: You know, I love how nobody knows her name. Did
- 9:08Speaker 3: I say you know everybody?
- 9:10Speaker 1: No?
- 9:11Speaker 2: Everybody on ESPN last night just kept calling her Olivia
- 9:14Speaker 2: Benson right.
- 9:15Speaker 6: Twenty plus years on Lawn Order SVU. She is currently
- 9:19Speaker 6: on Broadway. She took over Daniel Radcliffe's role in Oh Man,
- 9:25Speaker 6: I'm blanking on the on the play, but it was
- 9:27Speaker 6: just nominated for a Tony. She performed at seven pm
- 9:31Speaker 6: last night on Broadway and then got immediately over to
- 9:34Speaker 6: Shed the first show. She did her show and got
- 9:38Speaker 6: over to MSG. Saw her at the end. You could
- 9:42Speaker 6: you saw it. You saw a New York Nick fan
- 9:46Speaker 6: who was just exhausted from all the range of emotions.
- 9:50Speaker 6: So I just wanted to give a shout out to
- 9:52Speaker 6: Mariska for for for doing that, because that could have
- 9:56Speaker 6: been easy. Hey, I'm gonna let the understudy take it. Nope,
- 9:58Speaker 6: people paid for tickets to see me. I'm gonna perform
- 10:00Speaker 6: and then I'm getting over. I'm on the floor. I'm
- 10:02Speaker 6: a couple of seats down from t Swifty, all.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Right, who would just kept grabbing her all night?
- 10:06Speaker 6: But that's okay, So let's let's let's get back to
- 10:10Speaker 6: last night. People. You you pointed it out at the
- 10:14Speaker 6: beginning of the show. Yes, the Knicks continue to fight
- 10:20Speaker 6: because there is a point, probably easily at halftime, but
- 10:23Speaker 6: definitely in the third quarter where no one except those
- 10:28Speaker 6: twelve players on the bench and that coaching staff thought
- 10:30Speaker 6: they had a chance. And the only reason MSG is
- 10:34Speaker 6: not emptying out is because of the price that people
- 10:37Speaker 6: pay for those tickets. Because if that's any other if
- 10:40Speaker 6: that's if, that is if the Knicks versus New Orleans
- 10:44Speaker 6: and it's that scores and that that arena is half empty.
- 10:48Speaker 3: December twelfth, Yeah, December twelfth.
- 10:51Speaker 6: No one's leaving because everyone paid at least five, if
- 10:54Speaker 6: not six, in some cases seven figures to be there.
- 10:57Speaker 6: But Nicks think they're still in it, and you can
- 11:00Speaker 6: see that they're fighting, but it really comes down to
- 11:03Speaker 6: the Spurs and just an utter collapse and you know,
- 11:06Speaker 6: a lot has been made about the officiating over these
- 11:09Speaker 6: four games. And Wendy got his third flagrant, which some
- 11:13Speaker 6: are you he should already have his fourth, which would
- 11:15Speaker 6: then mean he's suspended. Once he gets his third flagrant,
- 11:21Speaker 6: the Spurs go six for thirty five and more importantly
- 11:25Speaker 6: two to fifteen for three.
- 11:26Speaker 2: From that point four, Nick's going to thirteen oh run
- 11:29Speaker 2: to start. Right from that moment, they go in to
- 11:31Speaker 2: a thirteen oh run, They cut into the lead, they
- 11:34Speaker 2: get it under twenty and the and I heard people
- 11:37Speaker 2: say it was like it's you can't even say it's
- 11:39Speaker 2: a snowball.
- 11:39Speaker 3: It's like it was an avalanche effect of.
- 11:42Speaker 2: What they're doing, their belief in themselves, the speaking of
- 11:46Speaker 2: the Knicks, how they've been playing, the fact that they've
- 11:48Speaker 2: done this the last two years, of coming back from
- 11:51Speaker 2: twenty point leads twenty point deficits and been able to
- 11:55Speaker 2: come back from that. And then what you also talked
- 11:57Speaker 2: about when we were opening the show, Madison Square Garden
- 12:02Speaker 2: came alive, and I cannot imagine what it is like
- 12:07Speaker 2: to be and the only caveat and and slight bit
- 12:12Speaker 2: of grace I will give the the San Antonio Spurs
- 12:17Speaker 2: in this collapse is the fact that the oldest player
- 12:21Speaker 2: on their team is twenty eight.
- 12:23Speaker 6: Okay, that is one of the things I wanted I
- 12:25Speaker 6: wanted to have the conversation about, because this is a
- 12:27Speaker 6: young team. When you when you look at their stars,
- 12:29Speaker 6: when you look at Wimby, you look at Fox, you
- 12:31Speaker 6: look at Castle, you're talking about guys who are all
- 12:33Speaker 6: twenty two or young younger. So this is a young team.
- 12:37Speaker 6: It's also an inexperienced team.
- 12:40Speaker 3: This is their head coaches first playoff experiences.
- 12:42Speaker 6: Yeah, not exactly the best series for old Mitch Johnson,
- 12:45Speaker 6: but we'll come back to that in a minute. What
- 12:48Speaker 6: has always been the standard line when it comes to
- 12:50Speaker 6: the NBA and you start talking about the playoffs, you
- 12:52Speaker 6: gotta you gotta get as close, you gotta get.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Right there, get there, get your heart taken up.
- 12:57Speaker 6: You got because you gotta, you gotta get hardened. By
- 12:59Speaker 6: that experience and the fact that this year they were
- 13:02Speaker 6: able to slay the dragon of OKC, we're like, well,
- 13:07Speaker 6: maybe it's different, and honestly speaking, yeah, it should be,
- 13:11Speaker 6: because again, they could easily have swept the Knicks. They
- 13:13Speaker 6: could be four and oh right now with the Larry
- 13:16Speaker 6: O'Brien Trophy, but they're not. And I think last night
- 13:19Speaker 6: is very emblematic of the fact, like you point out,
- 13:22Speaker 6: this is a young team, because they were making they
- 13:26Speaker 6: were making some serious mistakes and Daron Fox maybe is
- 13:31Speaker 6: the most egregious of those mistakes.
- 13:35Speaker 2: If there is a veteran on the team, it is
- 13:37Speaker 2: Daron Fox. If there's a veteran on the team, and
- 13:40Speaker 2: he's got I think one other playoff run, like not seri,
- 13:44Speaker 2: but other playoff run, because I mean, what happens in Sacramento, Like, sorry,
- 13:48Speaker 2: you weren't he wasn't making it to the playoffs very
- 13:50Speaker 2: much that, but again, yes, you have to have some
- 13:54Speaker 2: veteran leadership.
- 13:55Speaker 3: And I saw people were talking about this in one.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Too, like they took how many There was fifteen three
- 14:02Speaker 2: pointers in the second half, and they took fifteen three
- 14:05Speaker 2: point in the second half, and seven of those were
- 14:08Speaker 2: with more than ten seconds left on the Playboff. There's
- 14:11Speaker 2: that one time where it took eight threes in a
- 14:13Speaker 2: row in a possession, which takes me back. And I'm
- 14:15Speaker 2: still as a Rockets fan and I can't understand how
- 14:19Speaker 2: the Rockets went one.
- 14:20Speaker 3: For twenty six from the three. Do something else, And
- 14:23Speaker 3: that was.
- 14:23Speaker 6: That was something I wanted to talk to you about
- 14:25Speaker 6: because look at the I mean, do something else Boston
- 14:29Speaker 6: this year. Oh my god, when you just keep shooting
- 14:31Speaker 6: threes and nothing's working. Detroit, I mean Detroit. We thought
- 14:34Speaker 6: Detroit was going to make a run in this, in
- 14:36Speaker 6: this and again. When you can't make shots, do something different.
- 14:40Speaker 6: That's why I say Mitch Johnson's not necessarily having the
- 14:42Speaker 6: best series because last night you're you're shooting that horribly.
- 14:48Speaker 6: Do something different, because all all you're allowing the Knicks
- 14:52Speaker 6: to do every time you clank it with that much
- 14:54Speaker 6: time left on the clock, they're just going down, scoring
- 14:57Speaker 6: another another bucket, getting two more and just cut into
- 15:00Speaker 6: that lead. I mean, that's why I say deeron Fox
- 15:02Speaker 6: probably have some of the most egregious fails, if probably
- 15:08Speaker 6: the biggest one there at the end, you get the
- 15:10Speaker 6: you get the turnover, you don't run the clock out,
- 15:14Speaker 6: don't just go do a quick pick six like it's
- 15:16Speaker 6: the first quarter. The clock is the most important thing.
- 15:19Speaker 6: But now you run down and it's still just a
- 15:22Speaker 6: one point game. So uh and by the way, the
- 15:25Speaker 6: Aaron Fox probably saved Josh Hart from being the embarrassment
- 15:29Speaker 6: because you you almost have a backcourt violation and then
- 15:34Speaker 6: you have the miss layup that.
- 15:36Speaker 3: And you could see it when he missed it and
- 15:38Speaker 3: he turns on which.
- 15:39Speaker 6: By the way, there is video out there. I will
- 15:42Speaker 6: try and find it and share it. There is a
- 15:44Speaker 6: camera angle that shows Larry David on the sideline standing
- 15:48Speaker 6: and when Josh Hart misses that lay up, the body
- 15:51Speaker 6: the expression in the body language he does is straight
- 15:54Speaker 6: out of curve. I mean he is, He's just like
- 15:57Speaker 6: the rest of us. How do you miss?
- 15:59Speaker 3: How do you do that? And so the other side
- 16:02Speaker 3: of that is the like.
- 16:09Speaker 2: The Knicks continued to and that's the thing. The Knicks
- 16:12Speaker 2: continued to play their game. They continue to get big
- 16:16Speaker 2: shots from Brunson. They continued to get big shots from Ananobe.
- 16:20Speaker 2: The switch up and was a huge thing and I
- 16:23Speaker 2: didn't even pay that much attention to it because you
- 16:24Speaker 2: just don't see him. Of what neutralized I think san
- 16:28Speaker 2: Antonio's defense was having Alvarado out there with Brunson.
- 16:31Speaker 6: I'm so glad you brought up Alvarado because Alvarado made
- 16:36Speaker 6: more shots in the last nine minutes than the entire
- 16:39Speaker 6: Spurs did. Yeah, Alvarado is is kind of He is
- 16:44Speaker 6: truly value. He was a value pick up for this
- 16:47Speaker 6: team and it and it came to pass last night.
- 16:54Speaker 6: Going back to Brunson and Anobi, Brunson's been averaging around
- 16:59Speaker 6: thirty points throughout the playoffs. Last night, Brunson and ob
- 17:02Speaker 6: scored sixty nine points for the Knicks. The rest of
- 17:05Speaker 6: the Knicks scored forty except for if you take away Alvarado,
- 17:10Speaker 6: the Knicks bench only made two buckets all night long. Cat.
- 17:17Speaker 6: It was clear what they were going to try and
- 17:18Speaker 6: do with Cat at the beginning of the game. He
- 17:19Speaker 6: gets those two fouls in that first minute, they have
- 17:22Speaker 6: to completely change what they were playing on doing. And
- 17:25Speaker 6: I want to go back to this because this is
- 17:26Speaker 6: something that irritates me about NBA replayed because the Spurs
- 17:30Speaker 6: challenge the foul on Wimby, and out of that the
- 17:34Speaker 6: refs then attribute a foul to Kat at the beginning
- 17:38Speaker 6: of that play. That's bull crap. If you're challenging the
- 17:44Speaker 6: foul on Wimby, you can't go back and say, oh, well,
- 17:46Speaker 6: we missed this. Because again, we have got to stop
- 17:51Speaker 6: being reliant on the eye in the sky. Yes, officiating
- 17:55Speaker 6: has to be better. It has to be held to
- 17:57Speaker 6: a higher standard. It's got to be consistent. Wimby should
- 18:02Speaker 6: have a fourth flagrant because of the of the shovedown
- 18:05Speaker 6: of Brunson in Game three, the fact that that wasn't
- 18:07Speaker 6: a flagrant, I still am just kind of flabbergasted.
- 18:10Speaker 2: High And here's the thing. And I saw people talking
- 18:12Speaker 2: about about this whether likes for all of game three,
- 18:17Speaker 2: and I can understand based on how physical Game three
- 18:22Speaker 2: was all the way through, why that wasn't why that
- 18:28Speaker 2: wasn't picked up, why that wasn't seen, like because you
- 18:31Speaker 2: look at game three, like the if the officials made
- 18:34Speaker 2: a mistake in Game three, it wasn't that. It was
- 18:37Speaker 2: that they lost control of that game very early on
- 18:41Speaker 2: and there was no there wasn't any bringing it back.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Maybe if I think this, and I can't help but
- 18:49Speaker 2: laugh because of how Jalen Brunson, who's like six to two,
- 18:52Speaker 2: so he's not sure we're going up against Wimby who's
- 18:55Speaker 2: seven to five, but like Wemby pushes him and then
- 18:58Speaker 2: Jalen brun yeah, puting.
- 19:00Speaker 8: Back up right.
- 19:01Speaker 6: I'm just like I think I think of like you know,
- 19:03Speaker 6: either Gary Coleman or Webster, like pointing up at a
- 19:06Speaker 6: corona after that. But on the subject of Brunson and
- 19:11Speaker 6: and Og, the Knicks made the right choice because you
- 19:17Speaker 6: had you had going into uh what was it this
- 19:20Speaker 6: year or last year? They're trying to decide between Hartenstein
- 19:23Speaker 6: and and Anobio two years ago and they go with
- 19:26Speaker 6: an Obe and the dude, you don't think of him
- 19:30Speaker 6: as a three point shooter.
- 19:31Speaker 3: No, but he couldn't miss least he.
- 19:33Speaker 6: Couldn't miss like this. Okay, I think I haven't been
- 19:36Speaker 6: able to verify this. I believe he had the most
- 19:38Speaker 6: efficient game, easily in the NBA Finals, maybe in the playoffs,
- 19:43Speaker 6: maybe in the league. Ever, fifty two percent from the field,
- 19:47Speaker 6: fifty six percent from three, ninety two percent from from
- 19:50Speaker 6: the free thro line. In fact, one of his misshots
- 19:53Speaker 6: was the one right before halftime where he it's three
- 19:55Speaker 6: quarters of the just the link of the court and
- 19:57Speaker 6: it clanks the I mean, you cannot that kind of efficiency,
- 20:02Speaker 6: that's you cannot buy that, and they held onto it.
- 20:08Speaker 6: Just incredible play from Oji. And again going back to
- 20:11Speaker 6: the Spurs and the collapse.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Yeah, oh no, I was ready to get back to Okay,
- 20:15Speaker 2: I gave it, We gave the flowers gave.
- 20:17Speaker 6: The next their flowers. Let's go to the last two
- 20:20Speaker 6: key plays. So it's the it's the Knicks inbound, and
- 20:22Speaker 6: then it's the Spurs inbound. So on the Knicks inbound,
- 20:27Speaker 6: the Spurs commit. I've been using the term Cardinals and
- 20:30Speaker 6: I'm gonna use it again. They choose not to defend
- 20:33Speaker 6: the bound who is the inbounder? It's and what do
- 20:39Speaker 6: you do when you turn your back on the inbounder?
- 20:41Speaker 6: He's got forty five feet straight, straight.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Running And then yeah, they did not so and I'm
- 20:46Speaker 2: guessing what they thought was blitzing Jalen Brunson when he
- 20:51Speaker 2: gets the ball in and I mean he got to
- 20:54Speaker 2: the front of the rim. Yeah, that was a bat shot.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I'm sorry, right deep it, I don't know.
- 21:01Speaker 6: Is it a bad shot or is he counting on
- 21:04Speaker 6: the put back?
- 21:04Speaker 3: No, he's not killing. No, there's zero chance he's counting
- 21:08Speaker 3: on that put back.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Okay, he was winning, he was winning that basketball game,
- 21:12Speaker 2: and had had O g Anoby not had a free
- 21:15Speaker 2: run to the basket and in.
- 21:17Speaker 6: The trompace jam esque armory the.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Best controlled tip that you may ever see to put
- 21:25Speaker 2: that ball in the basket.
- 21:26Speaker 6: But again, folks completely undefended and uncontested.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Completely absolutely So here's and again here's when I know
- 21:33Speaker 2: what you're or at least I think we're talking about,
- 21:35Speaker 2: of not having a a a person guarding the the
- 21:40Speaker 2: person throwing the ballot because what happened on the on
- 21:45Speaker 2: the Spurs bounds messed up their play.
- 21:47Speaker 6: The Spurs get the exact look they're wanting, they're getting
- 21:50Speaker 6: gonna they're gonna have a castle wide shot perfect because
- 21:56Speaker 6: they are defending the inbound and he and.
- 22:00Speaker 3: He got a like a something and it's.
- 22:02Speaker 6: Just enough and it disrupts the throw Castle can't get
- 22:06Speaker 6: the ball up in time. Game over.
- 22:07Speaker 2: You've got a seven foot five inch alien that you
- 22:12Speaker 2: don't utilize at all as this mountain of a run
- 22:17Speaker 2: is happening against You don't utilize him at all to
- 22:23Speaker 2: just say, hey, you know what, even if you're not
- 22:25Speaker 2: gonna just go stand in the paint, we will throw
- 22:29Speaker 2: you the ball to make them do something and slow
- 22:32Speaker 2: the game down.
- 22:32Speaker 3: But you don't want to do that, Okay, that's fine.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Again, you don't want to then also utilize him to
- 22:41Speaker 2: distract the like, why would you not have him going,
- 22:45Speaker 2: especially if he's already he was up there guarding the
- 22:49Speaker 2: three point line anyway. He was on the double team
- 22:52Speaker 2: for Jaylon Brunson, So why wouldn't you have him guarding
- 22:55Speaker 2: the ball out of bound? So at least distract if
- 22:56Speaker 2: you're gonna go blitz anyway, if you're gonna go double
- 22:59Speaker 2: team anyway, and he's gonna be the person to have him,
- 23:03Speaker 2: have him make the out of bounds play a little bit.
- 23:05Speaker 2: But that goes back to the the youth and the
- 23:08Speaker 2: inexperience of not just their players but their coaching staff.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Even if you want to say, hey, they still have
- 23:15Speaker 2: coach Popovich to talk to you.
- 23:20Speaker 6: Quick quick poll. Is Greg Popovich worth one point to
- 23:24Speaker 6: the Spurs last night? Yes?
- 23:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he absolutely, absolutely absolutely is also Greg popa Like
- 23:31Speaker 2: they don't get that.
- 23:32Speaker 3: They absolutely do not go on that run of Greg
- 23:34Speaker 3: Popovich's there. They don't.
- 23:36Speaker 2: They don't outscore, like you can't have what seventy seventy
- 23:39Speaker 2: six points in the first half and only so like
- 23:41Speaker 2: Greg Popovich isn't gonna let that happen. That's like there's
- 23:45Speaker 2: there's a level.
- 23:46Speaker 9: Of of.
- 23:48Speaker 2: And that you can tell that with their coaching staff
- 23:52Speaker 2: and their players. As one of the things you hear
- 23:55Speaker 2: about Greg Popovich is they were prepared, like going through scenarios.
- 24:00Speaker 2: And I love watching the All the Smoke podcast with
- 24:03Speaker 2: Steven Jackson, and like he talks about like the stuff
- 24:06Speaker 2: that you don't do everywhere else, and he talks about
- 24:09Speaker 2: what Greg Popovitch turned like the better basketball player. It
- 24:11Speaker 2: turned out he hated it when he was there, but
- 24:13Speaker 2: it turned him into the better basketball player.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Because you work on everything.
- 24:16Speaker 2: It's why, like you talk about Nick Saban, like you
- 24:18Speaker 2: work on everything not till you get it right, till
- 24:20Speaker 2: you can't get it wrong exactly. And it's those things,
- 24:22Speaker 2: and you can tell they were not ready for any
- 24:26Speaker 2: of those situations.
- 24:27Speaker 6: Finally, just before we go to the commercial break, you
- 24:30Speaker 6: really have to to credit the fact that Brunson og
- 24:35Speaker 6: even in their post game, they are as cool as
- 24:38Speaker 6: the other side of the pillar. They're not They're not
- 24:41Speaker 6: letting this get to their heads. They understand that the
- 24:43Speaker 6: magnitude I mean that you know, Brunson's sitting next to
- 24:49Speaker 6: Draymond in the post and you can see Draymond's just
- 24:53Speaker 6: trying to get a rise out of Bruns and Brunson's
- 24:56Speaker 6: just not going for it. No, he he wants out
- 24:58Speaker 6: of there.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Even Anonobi at the at the press conference, He's like, yeah,
- 25:01Speaker 2: I mean I'm excited. Yeah, And everybody's laughing because there
- 25:05Speaker 2: is zero excitement that is showing.
- 25:06Speaker 10: Well.
- 25:07Speaker 6: When Lisa Salter is talking to him at the end
- 25:09Speaker 6: of the game, after he's he's made the shop, he's just, hey,
- 25:13Speaker 6: you have utter chaos around you.
- 25:16Speaker 3: I tipped it in coming back in just a second.
- 25:19Speaker 2: We're gonna I want to ask what we're gonna what
- 25:21Speaker 2: the what the series is going to look like? Is
- 25:22Speaker 2: it over or do we have an opportunity for this

- 30:31Speaker 2: there has been one constant throughout our time here, and
- 30:34Speaker 2: that is Janet.
- 30:35Speaker 6: Yes, forever and ever. Yeah, I mean just and I
- 30:43Speaker 6: need to get more of the eighties in the mix
- 30:46Speaker 6: because trying to trying to educate our young producer on
- 30:53Speaker 6: all that is that is the Janet catalog.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Because you hadn't listened to any Janet before. Oh all right,
- 31:00Speaker 3: well that's what we do. We we we bring, we
- 31:04Speaker 3: bring knowledge, we.
- 31:05Speaker 6: Try uh sometimes you know, some don't want the dual
- 31:11Speaker 6: leap uh experience, which, by the way, I saw she
- 31:16Speaker 6: just got married a couple of weeks ago, So I
- 31:18Speaker 6: guess I can finally set.
- 31:19Speaker 2: That that's that, that that's over for you.
- 31:23Speaker 6: Yeah, sorry, babe, I know you still got George anyway.
- 31:30Speaker 6: All right, So okay, let's so real quick just just
- 31:35Speaker 6: to kind of put a bow on last night before
- 31:37Speaker 6: we move on to to what we think is gonna happen,
- 31:40Speaker 6: uh with with Game five. I have to say, you know,
- 31:44Speaker 6: one of the more annoying things about Nick the Knicks
- 31:48Speaker 6: is celebrity row because there are there are those who
- 31:53Speaker 6: have been with the team through thick and thin following them,
- 31:59Speaker 6: you know, just through major embarrassment. So you know, Spike Lee,
- 32:03Speaker 6: Ben Stiller, Tracy Morgan, Yeah, she's been there a lot.
- 32:10Speaker 6: You know, Timothy Shallomy, he's not a Johnny Come Lately.
- 32:13Speaker 6: He's from Hell's Kitchen. He's been going to Knicks games forever.
- 32:18Speaker 6: He I mean, he chose the Knicks over the met Gala,
- 32:21Speaker 6: which Ben Stiller can't say, which I do want to say.
- 32:24Speaker 6: I do want to say, Ben. And I know you're
- 32:27Speaker 6: I know you've got the director bug in. You put
- 32:30Speaker 6: your phone down your court side there in the moment.
- 32:34Speaker 6: You don't have to be you don't need to be
- 32:36Speaker 6: filming it. We're we're looking at you. We wouldn't see
- 32:39Speaker 6: you anyway. But that was the incredible thing about last
- 32:43Speaker 6: night was you know, you got Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David,
- 32:48Speaker 6: John McEnroe, John Calipari was there, Jay right, which he
- 32:52Speaker 6: should be there, you know, that's two thirds of his.
- 32:57Speaker 3: How many former Knicks were there, but it.
- 33:01Speaker 6: Seems like all of me they brought Jerry you know,
- 33:04Speaker 6: Jeremy Lynn was there.
- 33:06Speaker 3: J Lynn was there.
- 33:07Speaker 2: But like and this, it's Nicks that are like Larry Johnson.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I he's a Charlotte hornet. Like I know he played
- 33:14Speaker 2: for the Knicks, but like he's the reason why I
- 33:16Speaker 2: got a purple start.
- 33:17Speaker 6: Like so, do you know, do you know what I
- 33:19Speaker 6: associate with Larry Johnson? And I still have his card.
- 33:22Speaker 6: By the way, he started at Odessa College. You have
- 33:25Speaker 6: that absolutely from Odesta College. But I'm with you, he's
- 33:30Speaker 6: a he's a hornet.
- 33:31Speaker 3: He's a Charlotte hornet.
- 33:32Speaker 6: But he until this run, he probably had the most
- 33:37Speaker 6: famous Nick's playoff moment ever, which is the four point play.
- 33:41Speaker 6: Absolutely okay, so but yeah, when you saw all the
- 33:44Speaker 6: celebrities and then more importantly, at the end of the game,
- 33:47Speaker 6: no one was leaving the era and then you see
- 33:50Speaker 6: all the footage when they finally do start leaving and
- 33:54Speaker 6: Chalomay who's got Kylie Jenner and he's got security.
- 33:58Speaker 2: If there's something I don't like about shall that he
- 34:00Speaker 2: keeps bringing her to the games.
- 34:02Speaker 6: But do you know what her quote was, No, I
- 34:05Speaker 6: only I only get laid when the Knicks win. I
- 34:11Speaker 6: do appreciate that. But as he's leaving, he's partying with
- 34:18Speaker 6: with Knicks fans. He's he's fully in it because you
- 34:23Speaker 6: got it. You have to be feelings and all the
- 34:27Speaker 6: all the video footage of of New Yorkers who were
- 34:30Speaker 6: watching the game with their windows open, and you can
- 34:32Speaker 6: hear the collective city cheering towards the I mean, yes,
- 34:37Speaker 6: And by the way, stephen A under cells, Uh, there's
- 34:39Speaker 6: just a few bad eggs. No, there's a number of
- 34:41Speaker 6: bad eggs in the Knick fandom, both from Game three
- 34:44Speaker 6: and last night. But overall, the only thing I can
- 34:48Speaker 6: say that I would feel like comes close to that
- 34:52Speaker 6: was when we were in Tuscaloosa for a in Alabama
- 34:55Speaker 6: twenty twelve and just being among those fans. I was
- 34:58Speaker 6: not at and in Alabama twenty eighteen when we won
- 35:03Speaker 6: on the walk off field goal, but I know that
- 35:06Speaker 6: was a special night for me. I you know, those
- 35:11Speaker 6: are just one one game events, whereas this is a
- 35:15Speaker 6: this is the biggest city in the country, this is
- 35:18Speaker 6: the one team they all support. Yes, they're not split between.
- 35:24Speaker 3: You know, Oh, nobody, nobody, No.
- 35:26Speaker 6: Because the Nets are still in New Jersey. Team it
- 35:28Speaker 6: doesn't matter that they're in Brooklyn. Now everyone is a
- 35:32Speaker 6: Knicks fan, and you have fifty plus years of frustration, yep,
- 35:37Speaker 6: and you are now on the precipice of winning and
- 35:41Speaker 6: realistically it could happen Saturday night, which I want to
- 35:44Speaker 6: ask you this. I always remember NBA Finals games. I
- 35:49Speaker 6: don't remember on Saturdays. I remember on Sunday nights. This
- 35:52Speaker 6: this just gonna feels weird.
- 35:54Speaker 3: Very very weird. I don't get the Yeah, how how
- 35:57Speaker 3: they And.
- 35:58Speaker 6: I don't know if it's because the World Cup that
- 36:00Speaker 6: they're they're they're they want to they want to have
- 36:03Speaker 6: that night window to themselves things go.
- 36:08Speaker 2: To it and and thinking about how this is going
- 36:11Speaker 2: to look in Game five. But I doant like there
- 36:14Speaker 2: was a point. I think that's kind of what you
- 36:16Speaker 2: were saying too, even while y'all were out at dinner,
- 36:18Speaker 2: that when they get when the Spurs get that lead,
- 36:22Speaker 2: and I'm like, Okay, the Spurs have now figured this out,
- 36:26Speaker 2: they know what they are doing. Now, they've they've they've
- 36:29Speaker 2: they've settled in, they they've got it all worked out.
- 36:32Speaker 2: And I'm like, I can't see the Knicks winning two
- 36:35Speaker 2: out of three with those games being in San Antonio.
- 36:39Speaker 2: You were down by the dang near thirty point. I'm like,
- 36:41Speaker 2: and I'm like, this is this is going It'll go seven,
- 36:45Speaker 2: but the Spurs are gonna win. And by the time
- 36:48Speaker 2: y'all got home, all of that had changed. And now
- 36:53Speaker 2: the Knicks are up through one and I'm like, I
- 36:54Speaker 2: don't know if I wouldn't be surprised. I don't think
- 36:57Speaker 2: they get blunted, but I wouldn't be surprised at San
- 36:59Speaker 2: Antonio loses by ten on Saturday. I wouldn't be surprised
- 37:03Speaker 2: now based on that, yeah, based on how do you
- 37:07Speaker 2: especially as a younger player, especially in a situation like that,
- 37:12Speaker 2: I don't know how you recover mentally in that.
- 37:17Speaker 6: To me, it's I hate to draw on a comparison
- 37:22Speaker 6: to something fictional like Rocky, but that you have to.
- 37:26Speaker 6: You really have to approach it that Jalen Brunson with
- 37:30Speaker 6: this team is Rocky. He's he is never out. In fact,
- 37:34Speaker 6: he is at his best at the end. And if
- 37:38Speaker 6: the Spurs cannot, I mean, like we said, you are
- 37:44Speaker 6: shooting threes at a horrific rate and you don't change it,
- 37:53Speaker 6: and you're allowing the Knicks to just come back from
- 37:58Speaker 6: twenty some odd points. I mean, call a time out
- 38:02Speaker 6: and say, guys, give it to the giant seven foot
- 38:06Speaker 6: guy who can literally just hold it up and put
- 38:09Speaker 6: it in the basket.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Eight straight three, So you come down, miss the three,
- 38:13Speaker 2: they go down, the score, come down, shoot another three,
- 38:15Speaker 2: they like, miss another three. They go down like at
- 38:19Speaker 2: a certain point like why are like what are we doing?
- 38:22Speaker 6: And they again, why are you doing it? With eight
- 38:25Speaker 6: to twelve seconds left on the shot clock?
- 38:27Speaker 3: Oh no, they had multiple words. It was ten plus
- 38:30Speaker 3: on the shot clock.
- 38:32Speaker 2: And I saw this this morning and it made me
- 38:34Speaker 2: both laugh and cry because I remember the game, the
- 38:38Speaker 2: thirty six to three Oilers game where and that was
- 38:40Speaker 2: just in the playoffs. It wasn't it, but like where
- 38:43Speaker 2: the Buffalo Bills come back?
- 38:45Speaker 3: Very similar.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Me and my dad went to Kroger on Southwold Parkway
- 38:48Speaker 2: at halftime and come back and we're like, what the
- 38:50Speaker 2: heck has happened. Michael Wilburm this morning was talking like
- 38:53Speaker 2: he said that someone and I would like to see this.
- 38:55Speaker 2: He said, someone did a statistic that if they took
- 38:59Speaker 2: a knee, every play and then punted that they there's
- 39:04Speaker 2: they would not have lost that game, right and there's God,
- 39:08Speaker 2: I'm sure they will find a stat somewhere that they
- 39:11Speaker 2: could have just let the twenty four second clock expire
- 39:15Speaker 2: and then go down because the Knicks didn't make every shot,
- 39:17Speaker 2: just let the twenty four second clock expire, and the
- 39:21Speaker 2: Spurs probably could have won that game by just doing
- 39:24Speaker 2: that instead of.
- 39:26Speaker 6: And if they if they do that, then yeah, I
- 39:30Speaker 6: don't see how the Knicks recover because you're you're showing
- 39:34Speaker 6: if you're the Spurs, we can just put the foot
- 39:37Speaker 6: on the throat anytime we want and just dominate, and
- 39:39Speaker 6: we're gonna we will do it in in Frost Bank Arena.
- 39:43Speaker 6: But man, after last night, that's I could. I can
- 39:49Speaker 6: see the Spurs maybe squeaking out a game, squeaking it
- 39:52Speaker 6: out in game five, but man, the Knicks.
- 39:55Speaker 2: I can't imagine what New York will be like for
- 39:59Speaker 2: game it. Yeah, the Spurs can pull out Game five.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Can you imagine what Madison Square Garden is gonna be
- 40:08Speaker 2: like for Game six?
- 40:10Speaker 6: What I hope is they don't do what they do
- 40:13Speaker 6: with they did with Game three. And no, I'm not
- 40:15Speaker 6: talking about that one particular individual. I'm talking about giving
- 40:19Speaker 6: or selling so many seats to the private equity bros.
- 40:24Speaker 6: And the and and and the and and those guys.
- 40:27Speaker 6: It's gotta it's gotta be your your true nick fans,
- 40:30Speaker 6: the folks who have been coming to msg you through
- 40:34Speaker 6: thick and thin. That's what will make that arena electric
- 40:38Speaker 6: if they if it is, if it does require Game six.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Back at the Mecca, Jared and I'll be back in
- 40:43Speaker 2: just a second. Wrap up your Thursday workday, Get you
- 40:46Speaker 2: ready to go home. We'll be back in just a moment.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Chipy our sports Talk Sports Radio eleven fifty AM, The
- 40:52Speaker 2: Zone ninety through seven FM.
- 40:53Speaker 9: It was after a hailstorm a few years back. I
- 40:56Speaker 9: needed a new roof. Yeah, I shopped around and then
- 40:58Speaker 9: I found Shulty Roofing Point. I'm glad I did. The
- 41:01Speaker 9: folks at Shulty guided me every step of the way.
- 41:04Speaker 9: They showed me my options, They told me what my
- 41:06Speaker 9: out of pocket cost would be after insurance. They took
- 41:09Speaker 9: the complication out of an otherwise very stressful situation. They
- 41:12Speaker 9: took off the damage roof, put on the new roof,
- 41:15Speaker 9: did all the clean up, and I had my new
- 41:16Speaker 9: roof in one.
- 41:17Speaker 11: Day, the whole by the roof.
- 41:25Speaker 14: I'm Jat Nelson with your Texas Rangers report. The Rangers
- 41:28Speaker 14: used an extra inning to tie up the series against
- 41:30Speaker 14: the Kansas City Royals with the rubber match this afternoon.
- 41:33Speaker 14: Details are coming up next.
- 41:35Speaker 9: Hey, low water crossing, stop the car now, I'm gonna
- 41:38Speaker 9: drive right through it.
- 41:39Speaker 6: Oh not with me?
- 41:40Speaker 3: Or not in Texas. Low water crossings fill up fast.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Your vehicle can be swept away in two feet of water.
- 41:46Speaker 6: Let's just turn around and go a different way.
- 41:49Speaker 3: And be late for the party.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Now I'm driving across it.
- 41:52Speaker 3: What are you doing?
- 41:53Speaker 6: I'm getting out.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Wait wait, wait, hey, I've got an idea. How about
- 41:57Speaker 3: we turn around, go a different way and be late
- 41:59Speaker 3: for the party.
- 42:00Speaker 6: You are so smart.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Turn around, don't drown. A message from tex Dot.
- 42:05Speaker 14: The Texas Rangers survived an extra inning thriller last night
- 42:08Speaker 14: against the Kansas City Royals six to four, and now
- 42:11Speaker 14: look to win the series this afternoon. The Royals struck
- 42:13Speaker 14: first with an RBI single in the second, but it
- 42:15Speaker 14: didn't take long for Texas to respond in the fourth
- 42:18Speaker 14: with a bases loaded walk fall and play an RBI
- 42:20Speaker 14: single for Nicky Lopez. Then the game went back and forth,
- 42:23Speaker 14: as Casey used a pair of RBI singles in the
- 42:25Speaker 14: fifth and sixth to regain the lead, then at Jake
- 42:28Speaker 14: Burger homer tied the game at three. The Royals got
- 42:30Speaker 14: an RBI triple from Nick Lofton in the following frame,
- 42:33Speaker 14: but Jake Berger stole the thunderback with a sack fly
- 42:36Speaker 14: in the eighth that I would force an extra inning
- 42:38Speaker 14: where newcomer Elias Diaz would be the hero with an
- 42:40Speaker 14: RBI double to take the lead and a Josh Young
- 42:43Speaker 14: walk would give Texas an insurance run and eventually the
- 42:46Speaker 14: six to four win. Game three determines the series. This afternoon,
- 42:49Speaker 14: first pitch set for one to ten on Rangers Sports Network.
- 42:51Speaker 14: With your Texas Rangers Report, I'm Jet Nelson.

- 44:34Speaker 6: Wu Tang gets credit for the win last night. Right, Yes, okay,
- 44:41Speaker 6: I'm glad we agree on this.
- 44:45Speaker 3: That it can't be Sorry, s w B will get
- 44:51Speaker 3: me every time.
- 44:51Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I mean again. You brought up Atlanta. We
- 44:54Speaker 6: talked about t LC, talk about SWV. You talk about me,
- 44:58Speaker 6: I don't U. Anne was watching the Netflix documentary talking
- 45:03Speaker 6: about history of hip hop, and I came in while
- 45:07Speaker 6: it's talking about Atlanta and Virginia and just the influence.
- 45:12Speaker 6: Because you know, everyone thinks New York and the West
- 45:16Speaker 6: Coast and some people know about the Third Coast. You
- 45:18Speaker 6: really forget about just how important Atlanta and especially Virginia is.
- 45:23Speaker 6: She was shocked she didn't know. Pharrell Williams wrote Rompshaker
- 45:29Speaker 6: for Rex in Effects.
- 45:30Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah for that.
- 45:30Speaker 6: He's been doing it since he was in high school.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Pharrell, Timberland, Missy, They're all from that Virginia area. And
- 45:36Speaker 2: then you've got everything in Atlanta, like yeah, there's oh yeah,
- 45:40Speaker 2: yeah Chip. How our sports talk Jason and Jared vibing
- 45:44Speaker 2: up was this summer ninety three?
- 45:47Speaker 3: I think it was a yeah.
- 45:48Speaker 6: So this is the versionary song on Above the Rim soundtrack,
- 45:53Speaker 6: So yeah, I think it's ninety three.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Sports Radio eleven fifty AM, The Zone ninety three seven FM.
- 45:59Speaker 2: A nice, say nice, it's still hot as all get
- 46:01Speaker 2: out outside. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna even pretend
- 46:04Speaker 2: to you that to say that it is a nice
- 46:06Speaker 2: Thursday afternoon, it's June.
- 46:07Speaker 3: You know what it feels like outside. Speaking of knowing what.
- 46:10Speaker 2: It feels like outside, I have seen some of these
- 46:15Speaker 2: World Cup teams as they are trying to get ready
- 46:19Speaker 2: for for life here in the States when it comes
- 46:25Speaker 2: to playing and I get like, there's and we say
- 46:27Speaker 2: like there's heat, and then there's like what we got heat?
- 46:33Speaker 3: There's you got.
- 46:35Speaker 2: They don't have the moisture that sits in the in
- 46:37Speaker 2: the atmosphere like that.
- 46:39Speaker 3: We have that humidity that just sits on you.
- 46:42Speaker 6: And so obviously Saturday night you had Argentina and Hondorras
- 46:50Speaker 6: at Kyle Field, and then on I believe it was
- 46:54Speaker 6: Tuesday night, Argentina made the trip out to Auburn, Alabama
- 46:58Speaker 6: to play. Was that against England? I forget, forget who
- 47:03Speaker 6: the Iceland? Okay, Iceland, uh, which you know MESSI couldn't
- 47:07Speaker 6: take the field at Kyle Field but Jordan Hare and
- 47:10Speaker 6: Pordacal But that's neither here nor there. Anyway, I've enjoyed
- 47:16Speaker 6: like seeing the posts of not only the players but
- 47:19Speaker 6: the fans who were coming to the States and getting
- 47:21Speaker 6: exposure to America since the last time the World Cup
- 47:24Speaker 6: was here. So obviously in ninety four, yes, there were
- 47:27Speaker 6: BUCkies in Texas, but now now we have now the
- 47:32Speaker 6: country has those.
- 47:34Speaker 3: Yeah, those were that is, those are not the same thing.
- 47:36Speaker 6: There the the idea that you tell someone, you tell
- 47:40Speaker 6: someone from another country, yeah, it's a gas station, and
- 47:43Speaker 6: they have the perception of what a gas station is
- 47:45Speaker 6: based on where they're from. And then you pull up
- 47:47Speaker 6: to the international airport. That is the BUCkies in uh,
- 47:53Speaker 6: pick pick your which one. Yeah, I mean they're all
- 47:56Speaker 6: they're all massive. So we're gonna talk World Cup. Not
- 48:02Speaker 6: not a true expert, not an expert at all except
- 48:07Speaker 6: in some aspects of the game of soccer. But what's
- 48:10Speaker 6: great about this is, as we are about to probably
- 48:15Speaker 6: see the end of our NBA and NHL seasons, we
- 48:19Speaker 6: get a solid month of sport with the World Cup.
- 48:23Speaker 6: In fact, starting today, you will have matches every single
- 48:28Speaker 6: day until July seventh, take a day off, and then
- 48:33Speaker 6: you get three days in a row after that, so
- 48:36Speaker 6: plenty of soccer to watch. Obviously, we are supporting the
- 48:42Speaker 6: United States.
- 48:44Speaker 2: But.
- 48:46Speaker 6: It might be they may have a rough go because
- 48:49Speaker 6: this is while this team was supposed to be the
- 48:51Speaker 6: Golden Generation, there have been various factors in US soccer
- 48:57Speaker 6: that have impacted their ability to be competitive. I still
- 49:01Speaker 6: think they'll do well. They will probably make it out
- 49:05Speaker 6: of the group stage. It would be nice to make
- 49:07Speaker 6: it out of the group stage and make it to
- 49:10Speaker 6: the round of sixteen, which is in the realm of possibility,
- 49:12Speaker 6: but it is also very possible they may not get
- 49:14Speaker 6: out of the group stage.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Is this the first time that because it's the round
- 49:19Speaker 2: of thir like that, there's enough teams here that they're
- 49:21Speaker 2: going to be it's the round of thirty two, there's
- 49:23Speaker 2: an extra round.
- 49:24Speaker 3: There is an extra round.
- 49:25Speaker 6: So yes, that there is an extra round, and that's
- 49:27Speaker 6: why you believe you it might be possible. Now, in
- 49:30Speaker 6: the history of the World Cup, going back to nineteen thirty,
- 49:33Speaker 6: only eight countries have ever won.
- 49:35Speaker 3: The World was so surprising.
- 49:38Speaker 6: So that is Brazil, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Argentina and England.
- 49:45Speaker 6: Those are your eight countries. Seven of those countries are
- 49:49Speaker 6: in this Italy did not make it, so statistically speaking,
- 49:54Speaker 6: those seven countries probably have the highest probability within that
- 49:59Speaker 6: seven then probably not going to be England. Everyone else
- 50:06Speaker 6: has a pretty good shot. Probably the France has a
- 50:11Speaker 6: has a decent shot to repeat, but probably Spain has
- 50:16Speaker 6: the strongest case because three of their players play for PSG,
- 50:21Speaker 6: which just won the Champions League. So you have some
- 50:23Speaker 6: of the Some of the best players obviously are obviously Argentina,
- 50:30Speaker 6: who won the last World Cup gave Messi his his
- 50:33Speaker 6: first World Cup championship. They they are favored, but not
- 50:38Speaker 6: quite as much as some of the other squads. So
- 50:40Speaker 6: what I thought would be fun, just because you got
- 50:43Speaker 6: to have someone to follow and you don't want to
- 50:45Speaker 6: live or die by the United States alone. We are
- 50:48Speaker 6: going to draft five teams each and we'll do it
- 50:51Speaker 6: in a snake draft of teams we're going to support.
- 50:56Speaker 6: You don't have to feel free to give your rationale
- 50:58Speaker 6: for while you're picking them, or to say I'm picking
- 51:01Speaker 6: them just to pick them. But I'm gonna give you
- 51:03Speaker 6: the option. Do you want to go first or do
- 51:05Speaker 6: you want to go second and third to get two
- 51:08Speaker 6: picks back to back. You can go first, Okay, So
- 51:14Speaker 6: with the first pick, I'm going to go with who
- 51:19Speaker 6: I am predicting is going to win it all, and
- 51:21Speaker 6: that is going to be Espana.
- 51:24Speaker 2: Okay, so you've got Spain, I will.
- 51:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll go and take Argentina.
- 51:36Speaker 2: Okay, and my second team, if we're going to do
- 51:40Speaker 2: a snake snake draft, will be I'm gonna take Argentina,
- 51:45Speaker 2: and then I will I'm gonna take Germany.
- 51:48Speaker 6: All right, good, I would say that is a good choice.
- 51:50Speaker 6: I think Germany may maybe the dark horse to win
- 51:55Speaker 6: this because they have a very talented squad. With my
- 52:02Speaker 6: next two picks, I will go ahead and say, God,
- 52:10Speaker 6: I make fun of them so much, I'm gonna I'm
- 52:12Speaker 6: gonna pick I'm gonna pick Brazil, and then for my
- 52:18Speaker 6: man Axel, I'm gonna go off off the the seven winners,
- 52:24Speaker 6: and I'm gonna say Belgium.
- 52:27Speaker 3: I will go with.
- 52:31Speaker 2: I'm gonna going with recency bias here, I will take Mexico,
- 52:37Speaker 2: and then, you know, just because I would love to
- 52:40Speaker 2: see that island lose its mind, I'm gonna take England.
- 52:46Speaker 6: They're gonna they're gonna finally bring it home.
- 52:49Speaker 3: All right.
- 52:49Speaker 6: So let's see, I have made one, two, three picks.
- 52:53Speaker 6: So these are these are my last two? Yeah, okay,
- 52:56Speaker 6: so these these are gonna be the ones close to
- 52:58Speaker 6: my heart. Okay, I'm gonna pick the Netherlands the Dutch,
- 53:02Speaker 6: because if you've seen the Orange mob. This is one
- 53:07Speaker 6: of the most insane but one of the best traveling
- 53:12Speaker 6: nations in the world. They turn out, they procure a
- 53:17Speaker 6: double deck or bus wherever they go and have it
- 53:19Speaker 6: painted orange and that's how they arrive at said stadium.
- 53:24Speaker 6: And then finally, I'm gonna go with Norway because again,
- 53:27Speaker 6: the Norwegians, if you've not seen their rowing cheer. They
- 53:33Speaker 6: bring big drums and they've got an entire section that
- 53:38Speaker 6: rows during the game and it is just it's all striking.
- 53:43Speaker 6: And I do think, just like I said, Germany might
- 53:49Speaker 6: be the dark horse of the favorite of the countries
- 53:52Speaker 6: that have won previously. Norway has a shot because they
- 53:55Speaker 6: has some talented guys, including Earling for Man City. So
- 53:59Speaker 6: that's gonna be That's gonna be my five.
- 54:02Speaker 2: And so I've got one left, You've got one left. Wait,
- 54:05Speaker 2: did anybody nobody took France?
- 54:07Speaker 6: Nobody has taken France. I would also say no one
- 54:09Speaker 6: has taken Portugal.
- 54:10Speaker 3: Portugal, I saw that might be this year.
- 54:13Speaker 6: They've got some talented players and this is probably RealD
- 54:16Speaker 6: Ronaldo's best last chance to win before before his career
- 54:21Speaker 6: is over.
- 54:22Speaker 3: I am going with France.
- 54:23Speaker 6: You're going with friends, all right, So we're gonna see
- 54:26Speaker 6: how these countries do. We'll come up with the system.
- 54:33Speaker 2: And we will talk about it the next time that
- 54:35Speaker 2: we are here. We have made it through another two
- 54:38Speaker 2: hours of talking sports and a little bit of music,
- 54:41Speaker 2: and I got to drink some Spurs fans tears because
- 54:44Speaker 2: it is delicious when that happens. We hope everybody has
- 54:49Speaker 2: a wonderful afternoon. We will be back the next time.
- 54:52Speaker 2: Chip wants to take a long assignment, but you're listening
- 54:55Speaker 2: to Chip. Our sports song taken over today by Jason
- 54:57Speaker 2: and Jarrett Sports Radio eleven fifty AM, The Zone only
- 55:00Speaker 2: through seven FM
