- 0:00Speaker 1: Brought to you by Hot Chocolate.
- 0:02Speaker 2: All right, Well, the donut critic is here. Ben is
- 0:07Speaker 2: with us. Ben is not the donut critic today, he's
- 0:10Speaker 2: the hot chocolate critic. Hot chocolate critic. So you've given
- 0:14Speaker 2: us two samples here. Tell us about that.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Well, it's election day, and so I thought you guys
- 0:20Speaker 3: should be choosing your desserts as well as candidates.
- 0:25Speaker 4: But you have to. In front of you, you have
- 0:27Speaker 4: cup A and Cup B.
- 0:29Speaker 3: And what you're going to be tasting is either hot
- 0:32Speaker 3: cocoa or hot chocolate.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Well, it's obvious which one is. With obvious, Okay, Cup
- 0:37Speaker 2: A is cocoa, Okay, And it tastes pretty good. You know,
- 0:40Speaker 2: it's fine. But Cup B is infinitely superior.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Superior, it's richer.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Well, tell us where these come from, by the way.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Okay, so this comes from Chelsea's Hot Chocolate. So this
- 0:54Speaker 3: is a new hot chocolate. It launched about a month ago,
- 0:57Speaker 3: and it is the most delicious hot chocolate in Utah.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:00Speaker 4: And it's not just some random person or neighbor.
- 1:03Speaker 3: It's somebody that I've known for many, many years, and
- 1:06Speaker 3: I've watched her travel around nations like Europe and other
- 1:11Speaker 3: places New York, La, anywhere trying hot chocolate.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Now, you were saying off the air, and I think
- 1:18Speaker 1: it's probably true for most of us. Most of us
- 1:21Speaker 1: when we think hot chocolate, it's the little pack of
- 1:23Speaker 1: Swiss miss and that's all we've ever.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Had is that this is not that, This is not that.
- 1:28Speaker 1: How is this made?
- 1:30Speaker 4: And that's the difference.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I mean, even in a simple Google search, you can
- 1:33Speaker 3: see the difference between hot cocoa and hot chocolate.
- 1:36Speaker 4: So hot coco, yes, it's in the packets.
- 1:38Speaker 3: It's where they've dried down that cocoa and it's losing
- 1:43Speaker 3: that cocoa butter and so it's losing that smoothness to it,
- 1:47Speaker 3: whereas like a hot chocolate is melted chocolate down and
- 1:49Speaker 3: so you get that thicker, creamier filter, isn't it?
- 1:52Speaker 2: Like is it the Polar Express where they talk about
- 1:56Speaker 2: melting chocolate bars, Yes for the hot yes, hot chocolate.
- 2:01Speaker 3: And I was telling them you all before we got
- 2:04Speaker 3: on air. I don't think I had real hot chocolate
- 2:07Speaker 3: until my adult life, and I think I was really
- 2:10Speaker 3: missing out. Some people grew up with parents that were
- 2:13Speaker 3: really dedicated or had a process for doing that, and we.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Most parents don't care enough about their cakes to do that.
- 2:21Speaker 4: And we use the terms interchangeably.
- 2:23Speaker 3: So you go to a place and it says hot chocolate,
- 2:26Speaker 3: but in reality, it's likely hot cocoa, and it needs
- 2:29Speaker 3: to change, honestly, Like if someone is saying it's hot
- 2:32Speaker 3: chocolate and it's really hot cocoa, like they really need to.
- 2:34Speaker 3: I mean it's like saying premium ice cream when it's
- 2:37Speaker 3: not premium ice cream. Like they have to be able to,
- 2:40Speaker 3: you know, correctly say what they're serving.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Now, where is where is Chelsea?
- 2:44Speaker 3: So Chelsea's Hot Chocolate can be found at every Momost Cheesecake.
- 2:48Speaker 3: So she has three locations, one in downtown Salt Lake
- 2:51Speaker 3: on fourth South, one in South Jordan off one hundred
- 2:54Speaker 3: and six, and then one in Orum off of eight
- 2:56Speaker 3: South and about State Street.
- 2:58Speaker 2: And we've and we've had the cheesecake.
- 2:59Speaker 4: You have the cheesecakes, and that's the little ones.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Yes, I mean you can get bigger ones too, but
- 3:04Speaker 3: that is the best way to eat them is just
- 3:07Speaker 3: the little grab and goes.
- 3:08Speaker 4: But this is the that one two punch. It's cold.
- 3:11Speaker 3: You get the cold, delicious cheesecake of Momo's. And then
- 3:14Speaker 3: you can have Chelsea's hot Chocolate. It is the best
- 3:17Speaker 3: date night dessert spot because you're eating and then you
- 3:21Speaker 3: want to go somewhere a little bit later. There openly
- 3:23Speaker 3: as well.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Now now you you brought this in this so this
- 3:26Speaker 2: travels fairly.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Well, well, she sent a machine with me. So yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 3: well so I I you're having it properly. Yes, you're
- 3:35Speaker 3: having it properly, other than she usually puts some real
- 3:40Speaker 3: whipped cream and then shaved chocolate on top. You did
- 3:42Speaker 3: not get that. I couldn't travel with that. Well, not
- 3:45Speaker 3: just that I'm dedicated, but not that.
- 3:47Speaker 2: What now, what kind of a machine is it? I mean?
- 3:50Speaker 3: So these are hot chocolate machines that you can actually
- 3:52Speaker 3: get in the store. So they they whip up and
- 3:54Speaker 3: they keep things melted, so it rotates it, it spins it,
- 3:58Speaker 3: you know. So there are machines that are available to
- 4:01Speaker 3: do that, and that is something that you know, if
- 4:03Speaker 3: you want to try for your parties or whatnot for
- 4:05Speaker 3: the holidays, that's a great thing. But truly I think
- 4:08Speaker 3: the best thing is to go in and try what
- 4:11Speaker 3: a real hot chocolate tastes like at.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Mamas, and you can dress it up even more.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Yes, yes, so Malmos has all of our different cheesecake flavors.
- 4:20Speaker 3: And that is one of the benefits of having Chelsea's
- 4:23Speaker 3: hot chocolate in there, is because you can take any
- 4:25Speaker 3: of those drizzles or any of those flavors that she
- 4:27Speaker 3: does for cheesecakes and she puts it on top like.
- 4:29Speaker 1: A salted caramel or bisc off or oh.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Now, of course, this hot chocolate. It depends also how
- 4:38Speaker 2: it's going to taste, on what kind of chocolate you use, yes,
- 4:42Speaker 2: and where it comes from and right, whether it's light
- 4:45Speaker 2: chocolate or dark chocolate or yep.
- 4:47Speaker 3: So I gave you all the dark chocolate, which I
- 4:50Speaker 3: think is the best. It's sixty two percent cacao, which
- 4:54Speaker 3: if you know your percentages, that's that's high, but that's
- 4:57Speaker 3: not too high. I usually go for about a seventy
- 4:59Speaker 3: two percent. But in a drinking chocolate, I like it
- 5:02Speaker 3: about sixty sixty two percent. But there are milk chocolate
- 5:07Speaker 3: versions and that's about thirty six percent. And so that's
- 5:10Speaker 3: like the kid friendly or the person that doesn't like
- 5:12Speaker 3: the bitterness of chocolate.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Sometimes I normally don't like to eat dark chocolate, but
- 5:17Speaker 2: this drinking it is a different matter.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Oh yeah, no, And if there were a whipped cream
- 5:21Speaker 4: on top of it. Oh man, yes, I'd be a
- 5:24Speaker 4: little much for me.
- 5:26Speaker 2: It's because it's I just drank the whole thing and
- 5:28Speaker 2: it's really rich. I mean, yes, well it's good.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Though, no for sure. And that's that's the thing.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Is you go in and you can mix a match
- 5:36Speaker 3: and so it isn't just that one thing that you're
- 5:38Speaker 3: going to get. You can, you know, get all those
- 5:40Speaker 3: drizzles and then you can mix it up with the
- 5:43Speaker 3: cold on the side for the for the cheesecakes. It
- 5:45Speaker 3: just creates that overarching beautiful dessert.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Talk about the difference between you've got here Italian uh
- 5:52Speaker 2: hot chocolate and Mexican hot chocolate. Talk about that.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Yeah, so this is more of a European style.
- 5:58Speaker 3: So what Chelsea can say, not too thick, not too thin,
- 6:01Speaker 3: So it is that perfect balance, whereas the Italian is
- 6:05Speaker 3: a little bit thicker. So if you've been to an
- 6:07Speaker 3: Italian restaurant and they serve drinking chocolate at the end,
- 6:10Speaker 3: it is quite thick. Yeah it's delicious, but it is
- 6:14Speaker 3: quite thick, and this is a little bit thinner than that,
- 6:16Speaker 3: whereas on the Mexican hot chocolate side, it's usually thinner
- 6:21Speaker 3: than European style.
- 6:22Speaker 1: So isn't cinnamony.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Yes, So you can buy those discs even in the
- 6:27Speaker 3: grocery store, and you can melt them down, but there
- 6:29Speaker 3: is that, yeah, a little bit of cinnamon. They sometimes
- 6:32Speaker 3: will put chili in or you know, something to make
- 6:34Speaker 3: it a little bit spicy as well.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 3: No, there's a lot of different readies, but I would
- 6:39Speaker 3: say the European style that Chelsea serves here is my favorite.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Again, not too thick, not too thin.
- 6:44Speaker 2: And you point out that chocolate was originally I used
- 6:50Speaker 2: for drinking, not not eating as we do now.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a that's a fun fact you can pull
- 6:54Speaker 3: out at family parties.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Chocolate originally was for.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Hot drinks, so it wasn't to be in a bar,
- 7:01Speaker 3: it wasn't to be eaten any other way.
- 7:03Speaker 4: It was made this way.
- 7:04Speaker 3: And that's what she's really trying to get back to is,
- 7:06Speaker 3: let's make this that warm comfany drink that we have
- 7:10Speaker 3: at family parties, and it's super delicious and high quality.
- 7:14Speaker 2: It is really really good. Now, so is it How
- 7:17Speaker 2: is it expensive?
- 7:19Speaker 3: It's not too expensive for you know, an eight ounce
- 7:21Speaker 3: cup or around that size.
- 7:23Speaker 4: It's about five point fifty.
- 7:25Speaker 3: So it's it's it's on par, especially if you're you're talking.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I've I went to a Utah football game and it's
- 7:30Speaker 3: ten dollars for hot cocoa. That is so watered down. Yeah, so,
- 7:34Speaker 3: I mean that's the thing is there's some time and place,
- 7:36Speaker 3: but if you're out getting a dessert, five dollars for
- 7:39Speaker 3: a cup of hot cocoa that are hot chocolate.
- 7:42Speaker 4: That is so good.
- 7:43Speaker 2: It's so worth it really excellent. It is actually good.
- 7:46Speaker 4: So it's inside of Momo's Cheesecake location.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Yeah, so search your locations and yeah, enjoy some and
- 7:52Speaker 3: let me know if you try it.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Oh, it's so.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Good, and how do you how do people let you know?
- 7:56Speaker 3: So go to Donut Critic, d O n U T
