- 0:01As the individual confronts, the various impulses emotions
- 0:06drives, and thoughts that arise and drive his life and action.
- 0:12He begins to recognize that there are elements that are not
- 0:15easily identified on the surface.
- 0:18And that there is something that cannot quite be grabbed with the
- 0:21intellect, which represents a motive spring, for many of the
- 0:26impulses that he contends with. When he tries to control these
- 0:31drives habits, or impulses through the use of mental
- 0:34reasoning or willpower. He soon finds that they
- 0:38nevertheless, have their impact. And in many cases, the
- 0:42individual finds himself doing things or experiencing feelings
- 0:47that he does not want to have. There is a conflict within that
- 0:52needs to be understood and resolved.
- 0:56This has led to the development in the field of psychology of
- 1:00what is termed psychoanalysis, which essentially explores the
- 1:05sub-continent regions to find out from whence, these hidden
- 1:09motives Springs of impulse arrives and thereby, to try to
- 1:13gain some control over them. The problem with this approach,
- 1:17however, is that dredging up the enormous amount of unfulfilled
- 1:21desires, urges habitual reactions, and bringing them to
- 1:25the Surface tends to give them rain to openly Focus.
- 1:29The attention in these areas and actually may strengthen them to
- 1:34a great degree. SRI aurobindo suggests a
- 1:38different approach whereby the primary focus is on the higher
- 1:43aspirations and motives. There by tuning, the
- 1:46Consciousness to Powers forces and directions that are
- 1:51supportive of the higher seeking of the individual and through
- 1:55bringing the light and force with this, higher purpose and
- 1:58Direction into action, removing the energy and power of the
- 2:03lower powers and drives submerged in Subcontinent.
- 2:08SRI aurobindo writes, quote. The sub-continent is not the
- 2:13whole foundation of the nature. It is only the lower basis of
- 2:17the ignorance and affects mostly the lower vital and the
- 2:21physically physical exterior, Consciousness and these.
- 2:25Again, affect the higher parts of the nature, while it is well
- 2:29to see what it is and how it acts.
- 2:32One must not be too preoccupied with this dark side, where this
- 2:36apparent aspect of the instrument.
- 2:38Being one should rather regard it as something not oneself a
- 2:44mask of false nature. Imposed on the true being by the
- 2:48ignorance. The true being is the inner with
- 2:51all its vast possibilities of reaching and expressing the
- 2:55Divine and especially the inmost, the soul, the psychic
- 3:01purusa, which is always in its Essence, pure Divine turn to all
- 3:07that is good and True, and beautiful.
- 3:11The exterior being has to be taken hold of by the inner being
- 3:15and turned into an instrument, no longer of the up, surging of
- 3:19the ignorant subcontinent nature.
- 3:22But of the Divine It Is by remembering always that an
- 3:27opening, the nature upwards that the Divine Consciousness can be
- 3:32reached and descend from above into the whole inner and outer
- 3:36existence mental, vital, physical, the sub-continent.
- 3:42The subliminal all that we overtly were secretly, are they
- 3:47should be the main preoccupation to dwell solely on the
- 3:52subcontinent and the aspect of him.
- 3:54Perfection creates depression and should be avoided.
- 3:59One has to keep our right balance and stress on the
- 4:02positive side, most recognizing the other but only to reject and
- 4:08change it in quote, reference SRI aurobindo and the mother
