- 1:01we must celebrate one of our favorite
- 1:05athletes in the crossfit space that is
- 1:08lito who is our member of our channel
- 1:11for eleven months now almost a year almost
- 1:16almost a year almost it's it was almost
- 1:20a year ago i met her like in
- 1:22person
- 1:24She's hard to miss.
- 1:25She is.
- 1:27Got to meet her and her husband at
- 1:29the Masters CrossFit Games last year.
- 1:32She is.
- 1:34She's a bright light in this space.
- 1:36She's good people, man.
- 1:38She's good people.
- 1:39Any conversation I've ever had with her
- 1:40has always been fun.
- 1:46Let's put it at that.
- 1:47Yeah.
- 1:52Uh,
- 1:52Papa Frank loves your voice on the intro.
- 1:55It took us a long time to get
- 1:56it mixed down.
- 1:57Right.
- 1:57To where it sounds like it does like,
- 2:01uh,
- 2:02to get it translated from Cajun to English
- 2:06took some time, but we got there.
- 2:07Yeah.
- 2:08Trish was accident with AI music.
- 2:09Of course not.
- 2:10That is the Clydesdale singers.
- 2:13We have a band obviously.
- 2:18AI.
- 2:19Why would we use AI music?
- 2:20That doesn't even make sense.
- 2:23Y'all know we don't like AI.
- 2:27And Corey,
- 2:27who's always good with the taglines under
- 2:30his name, leave Stuart Litter.
- 2:33Yeah, I can talk.
- 2:35I do this for a living.
- 2:37Corey,
- 2:37leave Stuart Little out of your mouth.
- 2:39Oh, I mean, out of your status.
- 2:41I got news for you, man.
- 2:44Stuart Little does not survive first
- 2:45contact with Chuck E. Cheese.
- 2:47That's just a hard fact.
- 2:48I don't give a damn what anybody tells
- 2:49you.
- 2:49It's not going to end well.
- 2:54So can I tell you one of my
- 2:57worst experiences ever was at a Chuck E.
- 2:59Cheese?
- 3:03This is my shock phase.
- 3:06So we went for a birthday party when
- 3:08my daughter was young.
- 3:10And this was like pre-CrossFit Scott,
- 3:15like every bit five bills.
- 3:17Yeah.
- 3:19walking around Chuck E.
- 3:20Cheese and they have the pizza and the
- 3:23salad bar and all that stuff, right?
- 3:27So I'm up trying to be healthy,
- 3:28what I thought was healthy at the time.
- 3:31You didn't know?
- 3:32Big mound of lettuce and then six vats
- 3:37of blue cheese dressing over the top.
- 3:39Right.
- 3:41All right.
- 3:41You guys got any more blue cheese?
- 3:44Then I'm walking back to my table and
- 3:48this kid comes running by and just forearm
- 3:52shivers the plate of salad and blue cheese
- 3:55right into my chest.
- 3:59Now you're wearing six packs of blue
- 4:01cheese.
- 4:02Correct.
- 4:02Yeah.
- 4:03Lettuce everywhere.
- 4:05And now I've got to,
- 4:06and we had just gotten to the birthday
- 4:08party.
- 4:10Unless I want you to take a crying
- 4:11child home,
- 4:13I have to sit there drenched in blue
- 4:16cheese for the entire duration.
- 4:22Soldier, soldier, absolutely.
- 4:25So you'll sit here and just smell like
- 4:27blue cheese for the next two hours while
- 4:31I get back, get back to the house.
- 4:34Yep.
- 4:34Hey.
- 4:36Pizza would not have made that mess.
- 4:38You are correct, Joseph.
- 4:40Pizza would not have done you like that.
- 4:42No.
- 4:43That is a fact.
- 4:44He was trying to be healthy, Joseph.
- 4:48Clearly CrossFit healthy.
- 4:50Yeah, clearly had no idea what that meant,
- 4:52but was trying.
- 4:54I mean, give the man some, you know,
- 4:55a little credit for trying.
- 5:00Have you seen the thing that says Chuck
- 5:01E.
- 5:01Cheese uses old pizza to make new pizza?
- 5:05I'm sure at some location they have done
- 5:07that.
- 5:08I will say, it's not terrible pizza.
- 5:12Well... But pizza's like sex.
- 5:17Correct.
- 5:17When it's good, it's really, really good.
- 5:19And when it's bad, it's still pretty good.
- 5:20It's still not terrible.
- 5:23Still, it's not terrible.
- 5:25Just saying.
- 5:31Oh, yeah, the Clydesdale Singers.
- 5:33We, uh...
- 5:34That's where you guys' membership money
- 5:36goes,
- 5:37is to keep them on track for when
- 5:39we need a new song.
- 5:40I don't know.
- 5:41The interview process is rough.
- 5:43It's terrible.
- 5:44It's terrible.
- 5:44Yeah.
- 5:46It's not cheap.
- 5:48Not in this economy.
- 5:49That is for certain.
- 5:53Yeah.
- 5:53And, you know,
- 5:54Corey's one of those dictator directors
- 5:57and makes them work long hours.
- 6:00You don't want me in a booth.
- 6:03Do it again.
- 6:08Um,
- 6:08so before we dive into like the CrossFit
- 6:12stuff,
- 6:13I got to show you a couple of
- 6:15videos.
- 6:15Oh, please do.
- 6:17Um,
- 6:17and hopefully it works because before we
- 6:19went live, I tried to show you,
- 6:22it did not go well.
- 6:23That did not end well at all.
- 6:25We're going to try this, um, real quick.
- 6:30The first one,
- 6:31and these are just some saved Instagrams I
- 6:33got.
- 6:33Have you seen this?
- 6:37Empire.
- 6:38Now it's eight feet by twelve feet in
- 6:41the corner of a Macy's.
- 6:42This is embarrassing.
- 6:44You don't browse Toys R Us.
- 6:46You accidentally walk through it on your
- 6:48way to buy socks.
- 6:51Toys R Us is now a little section
- 6:55in Macy's and not like a store anymore.
- 6:59They went belly up.
- 7:02Toys R Us are now
- 7:04Beside the sock section in Macy's.
- 7:10Everything good is dead or dying.
- 7:14My child is dying.
- 7:17That's terrible.
- 7:20I accidentally walked through a Toys R Us
- 7:22going to get a pair of socks.
- 7:26so the next two videos are what I
- 7:29will call the twelve-year-old boy in us
- 7:30videos that's my favorite okay the first
- 7:34one in the middle of a tragedy something
- 7:37awesome occurs and and again I don't want
- 7:41to make light of the tragedy but something
- 7:44awesome does occur things happen
- 8:08Everyone's trying.
- 8:10Carrying fireworks.
- 8:13Carrying fireworks.
- 8:15Caught on fire.
- 8:17And blew up in the middle of
- 8:20I-Seventy-Five.
- 8:21Let me say this.
- 8:23Normally, if I'm on I-Ten,
- 8:25any interstate really,
- 8:28traffic is backed up and I come upon
- 8:31it and it's on the other side of
- 8:32the interstate, but...
- 8:34Our lane isn't slowing down.
- 8:37I am beyond furious.
- 8:40Right.
- 8:41Cause I'm like, what are y'all doing?
- 8:43I think that's the only way it would
- 8:45be acceptable because I would probably
- 8:46stop and check it out because I love
- 8:48fireworks.
- 8:50Yeah.
- 8:51And then nobody got hurt.
- 8:52So I just got a free firework show
- 8:54for no good reason.
- 8:55Sweet.
- 8:55I am in like my first reaction would
- 8:57be get out of my car,
- 8:58open up my lawn chair and just start
- 9:00going.
- 9:01Ooh, absolutely.
- 9:04Dude, it's all happening at once.
- 9:06Like, you don't have to,
- 9:07is that the end?
- 9:07I'm not sure.
- 9:08Is that the end?
- 9:09Is that the end?
- 9:10No, not yet.
- 9:10Okay.
- 9:12So then, so then in, uh,
- 9:19Awesome fashion.
- 9:20Someone took it to a new level.
- 9:25Why do women live longer than men?
- 9:42That explains it.
- 9:43You may live longer, ladies,
- 9:45but we die more awesomer.
- 9:49i love him we would die more awesomer
- 9:53yeah oh that's america right there that's
- 10:02one hundred percent america yeah that is
- 10:04full-fledged america america speaking of
- 10:08which my mother-in-law yesterday
- 10:12for whatever reason,
- 10:13decided she wanted to have a happy
- 10:15birthday America get together at her house
- 10:19yesterday.
- 10:22She didn't decide it yesterday.
- 10:23She actually decided it sometime during
- 10:24the week.
- 10:26And my wife said, hey,
- 10:28my mom wants to have a
- 10:32like a happy birthday America party
- 10:35Sunday.
- 10:35And I said, I'm sorry, this Sunday?
- 10:38She's like, yeah.
- 10:38I said, June the whatever it is, seventh,
- 10:43not July the fourth.
- 10:44She's like, mm-hmm.
- 10:46Well, June the fourteenth,
- 10:49which is coming up this Sunday,
- 10:51is flag day.
- 10:52Yeah, that's fantastic.
- 10:52That would make some sense.
- 10:54Wouldn't end.
- 10:55It was yesterday.
- 10:57Hot dogs, hamburgers, apple pie.
- 11:02You can celebrate America any day.
- 11:03You're not wrong, man.
- 11:04You're not wrong, man.
- 11:06You're not wrong.
- 11:08We had,
- 11:08we straight up went over there and had
- 11:10a little,
- 11:11a little grilling session to go on.
- 11:12I was like, I said, Ms.
- 11:15Carlisle,
- 11:17You don't need an excuse to grill dogs
- 11:20and burgers.
- 11:21You can just do that whenever.
- 11:23It doesn't really matter.
- 11:24I don't know if you know that or
- 11:25not.
- 11:26Jennifer says she thinks that she ran
- 11:27across the America paper plates and
- 11:30whatnot and just decided that she needed a
- 11:32good reason to use them.
- 11:33I was like,
- 11:34so when she comes across the Christmas
- 11:36ones at five below next time,
- 11:38we're just going to have a Christmas in
- 11:39July?
- 11:39Is that what's going on?
- 11:40Because, I mean, I'm in.
- 11:43Is she one of those that can only
- 11:45have a party if it has a theme?
- 11:47No, not at all.
- 11:48Oh,
- 11:48that's the other reason why it was weird.
- 11:49Yeah.
- 11:52Okay.
- 11:53Okay.
- 11:53Uh, David Johnson says, uh,
- 11:54don't tell me when to celebrate my
- 11:56America.
- 11:59Oh, David, Justin.
- 12:01I celebrate every day.
- 12:04I celebrate every day.
- 12:05How free are you on a scale of
- 12:08zero to July four?
- 12:10How free are you today?
- 12:14I'm pretty damn free.
- 12:17Anyway.
- 12:18Extremely.
- 12:19Yes.
- 12:19I love it.
- 12:21So the other thing I wanted to talk
- 12:23to you about is my wife and I
- 12:25sat down and watched the movie Send Help
- 12:28this weekend.
- 12:30Oh, yeah.
- 12:31If you have not done that... No,
- 12:33not yet.
- 12:33Reframe.
- 12:35Okay.
- 12:36Do not.
- 12:37Got it.
- 12:37Those are two hours of my life that
- 12:39I am never, ever getting back.
- 12:42That's terrible.
- 12:44It is...
- 12:45Like, it had a good premise,
- 12:47and it started down a road where I'm
- 12:48like, oh, that's pretty good.
- 12:49And then, like, an hour in,
- 12:52it took a right turn into, like,
- 12:55complete and utter garbage.
- 12:57I hate that.
- 13:00Complete and utter garbage.
- 13:03Mark Phillips, finally, we agree, Scott.
- 13:05Much like, finally,
- 13:07we're on the same page.
- 13:10Like, literally, we got, like...
- 13:13twenty minutes past that my wife and i
- 13:14are looking at each other like do we
- 13:17even like tough this out or right what's
- 13:19happening at this point right yeah i got
- 13:23it well we've been jennifer i've done that
- 13:24before like i don't remember what it was
- 13:27but same thing forty five minutes into
- 13:30something and we just kind of looked at
- 13:31each other like what's happening right now
- 13:33why are we even like i could be
- 13:36sleeping or doing any one of a number
- 13:39of other things yeah she uh
- 13:45It was awful.
- 13:46Awful.
- 13:47I like Mark's... Mark's movie synopsis.
- 13:56You should write that for IMDb.
- 13:57Two horrible humans spend time together on
- 14:00an island in the end.
- 14:02I think he nailed it.
- 14:05Two horrible people get stranded on an
- 14:08island.
- 14:08And that's not even the worst part.
- 14:11Like the unrealisticness of...
- 14:15Everything after that first hour is.
- 14:19That sucks.
- 14:24Oh, to answer, uh, yes, Joseph.
- 14:29Uh, just,
- 14:29if you have a bucket of popcorn,
- 14:31you're invested.
- 14:34Yup.
- 14:37Uh, Meg it's I celebrate summer,
- 14:40summer ween Halloween in the summertime.
- 14:44Oh, is that what that is?
- 14:46That's why Travis is like making Joseph
- 14:48dress up doesn't count.
- 14:49Yeah.
- 14:50Got it.
- 14:51I don't think she has to make Joseph
- 14:52dress up.
- 14:52I don't know if you've met that dude
- 14:53or not,
- 14:54but fairly certain he would be wearing
- 14:57costume for no good reason.
- 14:59Did you hear the strays that Joseph was
- 15:03catching yesterday at the end of the
- 15:05glintons with Jenny?
- 15:07no i did not and but i did
- 15:11uh because like yesterday i was uh i
- 15:13had open gym i was over there all
- 15:15day just doing stuff and whatnot but all
- 15:18of a sudden in the text thread i'm
- 15:19in with him all of a sudden like
- 15:21he was getting all kinds of like he
- 15:23was catching strays in our text group and
- 15:26i was like what in the shit just
- 15:28happened they were calling him elf on a
- 15:30shelf oh
- 15:33And then they were going to make like
- 15:34a little gnome logo to go in the
- 15:36upper corner of the stream yard.
- 15:39And, uh, dude,
- 15:40I would be in with a gnome logo.
- 15:42Like absolutely.
- 15:43Joseph is the gnome.
- 15:45Yeah.
- 15:47All right.
- 15:48All right.
- 15:48Dude, let me explain something to you.
- 15:50I know I've said this before,
- 15:51but like me and Joseph never been tall.
- 15:54We have nothing to compare it to
- 15:55whatsoever.
- 15:56So like,
- 15:57and he's a lot like I am, right?
- 16:00Not a big deal.
- 16:00Like I'm not getting any,
- 16:02we're not getting any bigger.
- 16:03I don't,
- 16:04nobody's ever had a growth spurt at forty
- 16:06nine years old.
- 16:07That's just not a thing that happened.
- 16:09So like, it's all right.
- 16:10Make all your jokes that you want to.
- 16:12It's cool.
- 16:12Not a big deal.
- 16:14Ramirez on Iraq.
- 16:20If Joseph wasn't born in the right
- 16:22generation,
- 16:23he'd be like crying right now in the
- 16:25corner.
- 16:25Oh, hundred percent.
- 16:28Hundred percent.
- 16:30Corey on the console.
- 16:35It's funny when I go to these events
- 16:36and I feel like a giant.
- 16:38Yeah,
- 16:39I'm gonna tell you this and Travis Travis
- 16:40knows because I know what a console is.
- 16:44I used to have one.
- 16:46Yeah,
- 16:46I had a console TV and I had
- 16:48an Atari twenty six hundred console.
- 16:51Yep.
- 16:51I had a stereo console.
- 16:52Stereo console.
- 16:54Big time.
- 16:54It's the best.
- 16:58Yeah, Trish,
- 16:59it would have been a very small corner.
- 17:01Hey,
- 17:01I don't take up a lot of space.
- 17:05Short people are the best people.
- 17:10So anyway,
- 17:12back on to let's get on to some
- 17:15CrossFit.
- 17:16I know that CrossFit is optional on this
- 17:18show now.
- 17:20If we get to it,
- 17:21we get to it.
- 17:22Seems like I've heard of CrossFit before.
- 17:24But the team standings aren't out until
- 17:27three at the very same time because
- 17:29CrossFit, in its infinite wisdom,
- 17:31wants to overlap itself,
- 17:33is releasing the individual workouts at
- 17:35the very same time.
- 17:37Let's do all of the things.
- 17:38Yeah,
- 17:38let's do everything in the same minute of
- 17:40the day when you have...
- 17:44twenty four times sixty minutes to do it
- 17:46there's the same they're the same people
- 17:48who decided that putting the online
- 17:50qualifier for the masters games in the
- 17:52middle of the of the in-person qualifiers
- 17:54for the mattress games was a really good
- 17:56idea so yeah yeah uh crossfit needs a
- 18:02scheduler badly badly badly um yeah
- 18:09tristan i forget how tall i am until
- 18:12i go to comps
- 18:15Yeah.
- 18:16Yeah,
- 18:16Tristan's one of the few people I can
- 18:18look at almost eye to eye.
- 18:21Impressive.
- 18:22I mean,
- 18:22I get to look up at him.
- 18:24Yeah.
- 18:28Jay Burch,
- 18:29it's always been optional to talk CrossFit
- 18:31on here.
- 18:32That's a fact.
- 18:40Sounds like it's time for Clydesdale Media
- 18:41to create a second channel.
- 18:44No.
- 18:45Nah.
- 18:45We don't need two channels.
- 18:46We'll do it all here.
- 18:49Yeah.
- 18:50But just the amount of confusion it would
- 18:51create.
- 18:52I mean,
- 18:52Savant still gets confused because he
- 18:54doesn't know what channel he's on half the
- 18:55time.
- 18:55So I don't think it's necessary.
- 18:58So speaking of Savant,
- 18:59he had Quinn Robinson on this morning.
- 19:01Who's an amazing human being.
- 19:04Well, that's what I want to talk about,
- 19:05right?
- 19:07The only reason you watch, well,
- 19:09I shouldn't say the only reason.
- 19:11It is very rare that a sport is
- 19:14created in which it is so fascinating in
- 19:17its design and development that you watch
- 19:22it just for what happens on the field.
- 19:25Sure.
- 19:26Right.
- 19:27There are very few of those in the
- 19:28world.
- 19:32Where sports that can't do all of that
- 19:35have to make ground is by storytelling.
- 19:39Yep.
- 19:41If you look at American Ninja Warrior,
- 19:45you're not watching to see people's
- 19:48athleticism go through a maze or an
- 19:51obstacle course.
- 19:52You watch because the guy's wife has MS
- 19:56and he's doing blah, blah, blah.
- 19:59Or their kid was born with this and
- 20:02they're overcoming it.
- 20:03The guy lives in a van and eats
- 20:05garbage to sustain himself.
- 20:08Right.
- 20:12And because they develop those characters,
- 20:14year upon year,
- 20:15you tune in to see how that person
- 20:17is doing.
- 20:18Absolutely.
- 20:19The reason I dove headfirst into F-One is
- 20:24because I watched Drive to Survive.
- 20:26I know all the racers.
- 20:27I know all their backstories.
- 20:29And I know everything about them.
- 20:33so now i'm invested when the race is
- 20:35on because i don't like that guy but
- 20:37i like this guy and i want him
- 20:39to crash into the wall and i want
- 20:41him to take the checkered flag right yep
- 20:44so what's happened in crossfit is we have
- 20:50stopped telling those stories or making a
- 20:53season worth to making a season in which
- 20:58you can tell stories
- 21:01it becomes possible to yeah right because
- 21:04i'm listening to quinn robinson's story
- 21:06today and it had it all tears laughter
- 21:13inspiration the whole bit right and now i
- 21:18so want quinn to qualify this week
- 21:22Dude, yes, by far.
- 21:24I went and followed him in the middle
- 21:26of all that because I hadn't followed him
- 21:27before and I didn't know,
- 21:28so I went and looked him up on
- 21:29Instagram, gave him a follow,
- 21:30looked at his stuff.
- 21:35You talk about people being authentic and
- 21:37being their real selves,
- 21:39their full selves and whatnot,
- 21:41or people being an open book,
- 21:43and that dude...
- 21:45unapologetic on you know oh well maybe not
- 21:49you know just presenting all that stuff
- 21:51the way he was talking about his sister
- 21:52dude like i had tears in my eyes
- 21:54like that was ins i want him to
- 21:58qualify
- 21:59I want him to qualify.
- 22:00I want him to do well.
- 22:01I want him to get there and, like,
- 22:03and whoop up on some people.
- 22:04Like, I keep throwing likes out there,
- 22:07but that was one of the best shows
- 22:10Savant's done as far as, you know,
- 22:12interviewing people in quite some time.
- 22:14He didn't have to work that hard because
- 22:16Quinn just gave it all up.
- 22:18Well,
- 22:19and Quinn gained a lot of fans today.
- 22:23Great show.
- 22:24Yes.
- 22:25Yes.
- 22:26Great interview with Quinn.
- 22:29Quinn was awesome.
- 22:30Guy considered becoming a priest.
- 22:31Yes.
- 22:32Like all of that stuff.
- 22:34And I even put a comment in like
- 22:36every time I thought I was getting to
- 22:38know this guy fully,
- 22:40there was another branch to the river.
- 22:42There was another thing.
- 22:43Right.
- 22:45And it just was spreading everywhere.
- 22:47And I was more and more invested as
- 22:49the time went by.
- 22:52But what CrossFit has done and what they
- 22:55don't see is because of the design of
- 22:58the season,
- 22:59for people who want to do interviews,
- 23:03it's hard to schedule because this
- 23:06person's doing four competitions.
- 23:09And to get them in a time where
- 23:11they can sit down and have that
- 23:12conversation is harder and harder.
- 23:17We famously interviewed...
- 23:20In twenty twenty two,
- 23:21one hundred and eleven semifinal athletes.
- 23:24It was easy because there was a
- 23:26leaderboard on CrossFit where they got
- 23:29populated where you were going to go.
- 23:33As you got the invites to Atlas or
- 23:35Granite or West Coast or whatever,
- 23:39it populated.
- 23:41And what that allowed me to do is
- 23:42go to that leaderboard and just start
- 23:44inviting people.
- 23:45And I knew the order they were going
- 23:47to go in so I could start with
- 23:49the earliest, get them out of the way,
- 23:51and move through the process as the season
- 23:54went on.
- 23:56Now you can't do that.
- 23:58You don't even know who's competing in the
- 24:00semifinal until they show up.
- 24:08And still might not then because of
- 24:11last-minute dropouts and last-minute
- 24:13pickups, and this one didn't make it here,
- 24:14so now you've got to try to go
- 24:15here.
- 24:17There's so much of that, dude.
- 24:19Yeah, it's really, this season especially,
- 24:21I feel like it's super disjointed.
- 24:25It's so disjointed.
- 24:28And I hear, like,
- 24:30I was listening to Saxon on Savan the
- 24:32other day and him saying, like,
- 24:34we just need to have the same season
- 24:36twice.
- 24:37I agree with that,
- 24:38but if you copy this season,
- 24:39we're screwed.
- 24:40Yeah, maybe not this season twice.
- 24:42Yeah, maybe not this one.
- 24:44Maybe go back a couple years and copy
- 24:46that one.
- 24:51Find something that is...
- 24:55I want to say ideal because nothing's
- 24:56going to be ideal for everybody, right?
- 24:58Somebody's going to get left out.
- 24:59Somebody's going to be able to do
- 25:00something,
- 25:01something along the lines that they don't.
- 25:02But you have to find something that works
- 25:04for the vast majority.
- 25:07Obviously, you can't, you know,
- 25:09pigeonhole people into this or that
- 25:11because some people are going to be,
- 25:13some people are just not going to work
- 25:14for it, but that's their problem.
- 25:17But you need to be able to fix
- 25:19something for the majority of the people
- 25:22and where
- 25:24I'm in total agreement with you on this,
- 25:25where you don't get seventeen chances to
- 25:28make the games.
- 25:30You just don't.
- 25:32Because that part of it's ridiculous.
- 25:35Oh, well, I didn't get to go here,
- 25:36so now I'm going to go here.
- 25:37I didn't go to here,
- 25:38so now I'm going to be able to
- 25:39go here.
- 25:39I just don't understand that.
- 25:43Ortega,
- 25:43who's becoming our resident devil's
- 25:50advocate, wants to push back.
- 25:54Jonathan,
- 25:54it's one thing to research and search and
- 25:58have a list of athletes you want to
- 25:59see.
- 26:00I do that.
- 26:01I try to know the up and comer
- 26:03names,
- 26:05but if I want to interview that person,
- 26:08my research goes way deeper.
- 26:09Yeah.
- 26:12Right.
- 26:13Because I am going to find out about
- 26:15this person.
- 26:16I'm going to be able to have conversation
- 26:18points with this individual.
- 26:20So I know what they've been through.
- 26:22and um and just researching knowing who i
- 26:27want to root for doesn't do anything for
- 26:29the sport except for for me yep last
- 26:34night we talked about how the design of
- 26:37the season screws over the people doing
- 26:40your work for you for free the syndicate
- 26:44crown mayhem's the norcal classics
- 26:49They can't – like I talked to Wilson,
- 26:52and he talked about how they couldn't even
- 26:55get a finalized lineup and having to go
- 26:59backfill and invite more people and invite
- 27:01more people.
- 27:02And the stress that puts on them.
- 27:06I'm telling you,
- 27:08if you gave them and said, hey,
- 27:12you have this region –
- 27:14Go for it.
- 27:15They would dive in even harder for you
- 27:18than they do today.
- 27:20Not that we dive in harder.
- 27:22I'm smiling because you used the word
- 27:24region.
- 27:30It doesn't have to.
- 27:32Yeah.
- 27:33I don't mean it has to go to
- 27:34regionals.
- 27:35That's got its own problems.
- 27:37No, no.
- 27:37It did have its own problems.
- 27:38But what you're...
- 27:40What you're suggesting and what a lot of,
- 27:42and that's not just you,
- 27:43other people are suggesting as well,
- 27:45is you're using,
- 27:49we would be using the regionals format,
- 27:52just using these competitions as the
- 27:54regionals format.
- 27:57So these people can go here.
- 27:59These people can go here.
- 28:01This is where you're going to go.
- 28:02You live here?
- 28:03Cool.
- 28:03You're going to Mayhem.
- 28:04You live here?
- 28:05Cool.
- 28:05You're going to Syndicate.
- 28:06You live here?
- 28:06Cool.
- 28:07You're going to Northern California.
- 28:08You're going to Legends.
- 28:09Whatever.
- 28:09Depending on what part of the country that
- 28:10you live in.
- 28:12Boom.
- 28:12Easy.
- 28:13Done.
- 28:13It's over with.
- 28:16And you take that off of the hands
- 28:19of the event organizers.
- 28:21And you get rid of that silly ass
- 28:25invite shit.
- 28:26No.
- 28:29That is the dumbest thing ever.
- 28:35And then you get to tell the story.
- 28:37And if you're syndicated or you're mayhem
- 28:39and you know who your lineup is,
- 28:42you can promote your own event.
- 28:45You could have your own media start
- 28:47telling the stories before people get
- 28:49there.
- 28:49Before you ever get there.
- 28:51You don't have to...
- 28:54and then have to show up at every
- 28:56single event to try to tell people tell
- 28:57stories because you can have your own
- 28:59people there or whoever crossfit that's
- 29:02that's another well i'm just saying like
- 29:05you can you can you can bring in
- 29:08scott weiser to go to syndicate and hey
- 29:14These are the people that's coming.
- 29:15I'm going to follow these people.
- 29:16Cool.
- 29:17These are, these are my athletes.
- 29:18You want to tell these stories.
- 29:19This is where you tell your story.
- 29:20I'm going to have you here doing this
- 29:21and the entire weekend.
- 29:23Awesome.
- 29:24And that takes another layer off of them,
- 29:26honestly,
- 29:27to try to have somebody from CrossFit
- 29:29media, which they still would do,
- 29:31I'm sure, but it's less,
- 29:33it's less off of them.
- 29:37Yeah.
- 29:37I, uh, yeah,
- 29:40I think you and I are definitely in
- 29:42agreement.
- 29:43Um,
- 29:44did watch and we talked about this last
- 29:47night a little bit the tyler watkins seth
- 29:50jump ship debate on the spin oh i
- 29:53didn't get to see that i should apparently
- 29:56um i think they thought they were on
- 29:58different sides and as they talked they
- 30:01actually came closer to the middle than
- 30:05they initially thought um
- 30:08Tyler does that a lot.
- 30:09Tyler has like really super strong
- 30:11opinions.
- 30:11And then when he gets into it and
- 30:13starts talking that he thinks are way
- 30:14different than everybody else's and he
- 30:16starts talking to people and he's like,
- 30:17Oh yeah, no.
- 30:18Where Seth let Tyler go first and Tyler
- 30:21was going boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
- 30:23And Seth's like,
- 30:24I think we're closer than you think we
- 30:26are.
- 30:29And then Seth just with,
- 30:31he's so articulate, um,
- 30:33pointed out different things.
- 30:35Um,
- 30:38It's a pretty good watch,
- 30:40but I think a lot of us ingrained
- 30:43in the everyday of this sport feel the
- 30:46same way.
- 30:47Oh, yeah.
- 30:48We all feel what Daniel is typing, right?
- 30:51Regional model is the only solution with
- 30:52tiny tweaks.
- 30:56Right.
- 31:00Would this format have been fine if they
- 31:02didn't allow invites?
- 31:03Perhaps not perfect,
- 31:04but fine enough to repeat.
- 31:06I like the idea of having the top
- 31:07people at the games.
- 31:13I think you get the top people at
- 31:14the games regardless of one and done or
- 31:17not.
- 31:18And no,
- 31:19you could not do it without the invites
- 31:23because the time between quarterfinals and
- 31:27the first semifinal was too short to do
- 31:32invites based on the season.
- 31:35Yeah, I mean,
- 31:35quarterfinals ended and Mayhem was, what,
- 31:37two weeks later?
- 31:38That's not enough time.
- 31:40Yeah, it was less than a month.
- 31:42I know that.
- 31:43Yeah, it was either two or three weeks,
- 31:44which is not enough time.
- 31:47Right.
- 31:48It just wouldn't work.
- 31:52And this whole thing about giving people
- 31:55multiple choices to get the best person
- 31:57there,
- 31:58why weren't you good enough to win on
- 32:00your first shot?
- 32:04You know,
- 32:06I'll take my Chicago Bears as an example.
- 32:08It is believed that they are in one
- 32:10of the two best divisions in the league
- 32:15because the Packers, the Vikings,
- 32:16and the Lions are all good too.
- 32:20That's the hand they're dealt.
- 32:22They don't get to say, okay,
- 32:24for this season,
- 32:24because it's better for us,
- 32:26we're going to go compete in the NFC
- 32:28South.
- 32:32God bless them.
- 32:32They'd wipe the floor with everybody.
- 32:35Right.
- 32:36You just don't get to do that in
- 32:37sport.
- 32:37No, it's just not a thing.
- 32:40Right.
- 32:40The NBA playoffs,
- 32:41everybody said the West is going to be
- 32:43tougher to get out of.
- 32:44The West is going to be tougher to
- 32:45get out of.
- 32:46It doesn't mean San Antonio gets to go,
- 32:48well, okay, for this season,
- 32:50because it's better for me,
- 32:51I'm going to go play in the East.
- 32:53Yeah.
- 32:56That just doesn't happen in sport.
- 32:58So for like all this,
- 33:00like we got to be fair and got
- 33:01to get the best.
- 33:03No.
- 33:04The best storylines ever in this sport
- 33:06were when someone failed and came back the
- 33:09next year and kicked ass.
- 33:13Or when somebody kicked ass and came back
- 33:15the next year and failed.
- 33:17Both of those things were amazing stories.
- 33:21Sam Briggs wins the games and can't
- 33:23handstand walk.
- 33:25And she made it back again.
- 33:27Right.
- 33:28Catherine couldn't climb a rope.
- 33:30Comes back and wins the game twice.
- 33:31Games twice.
- 33:34Those are the great storylines.
- 33:37You go all the way back to Rich
- 33:38Fronin not being able to climb a rope.
- 33:40I think when you give multiple options for
- 33:42people to get somewhere,
- 33:44it just makes it vanilla.
- 33:45It waters it down.
- 33:49It just makes it vanilla.
- 33:51Absolutely.
- 33:52I don't want vanilla.
- 33:53No, it waters it down.
- 33:55It waters down.
- 33:56It's like, oh, okay, well,
- 33:57he didn't get there.
- 33:58So now he's going to come here.
- 33:59Oh, well, he didn't get there.
- 34:00And now he's going to come because there's
- 34:01some people that have on their third
- 34:04thing, which is a lot.
- 34:14Joseph says,
- 34:15Katrin should have only won one.
- 34:16See, that's the problem, Joseph.
- 34:19We don't hand out championships.
- 34:23You earn it on the floor or you
- 34:26don't with the rules that you are given.
- 34:30I didn't.
- 34:30She's the reason why we have minimum work
- 34:33requirements now.
- 34:35I don't disagree with that,
- 34:36but she abided by the rules at the
- 34:38time.
- 34:39Absolutely.
- 34:39No,
- 34:40she scored the most points of any athlete.
- 34:42She played the game.
- 34:43I know exactly what he's talking about and
- 34:44it drives me bananas too,
- 34:46but she played the game and she is
- 34:48now the reason we have minimum work
- 34:51requirements.
- 34:52Okay, they made a rule adjustment,
- 34:53but she won by the rules of that.
- 34:55And listen,
- 34:56I am not the biggest Katrin fan.
- 34:58No, no,
- 34:58I'm not taking anything away from her as
- 35:00far as that's concerned.
- 35:01I just don't like it.
- 35:03Like, yeah, she played by the rules.
- 35:04She did exactly what she was supposed to
- 35:06do, and she won.
- 35:07Good for her.
- 35:08The next year,
- 35:09she was not going to be able to
- 35:10do that.
- 35:10And she won again.
- 35:11So, congratulations.
- 35:14It's just annoying to me that, like,
- 35:20And maybe because I wouldn't, I just, my,
- 35:21I'm not built that way or whatnot,
- 35:23but like,
- 35:23there's no way I'm just gonna go, well,
- 35:25I have enough points.
- 35:26I'm not even,
- 35:27I'm just not even gonna try in that
- 35:29way.
- 35:30I can just go on to the next
- 35:31thing and then do really good at that.
- 35:33And then I'll probably still win.
- 35:35Like,
- 35:35I'm still gonna go out there and try
- 35:36to do whatever it is I can do.
- 35:38Maybe that makes me naive or stupid,
- 35:41but like,
- 35:41I can't see myself doing that kind of
- 35:43stuff.
- 35:43That's a whole nother tangent.
- 35:45Sorry.
- 35:46Yeah.
- 35:47it's dropping me bananas that's what this
- 35:48show this show should be called the
- 35:50tangent show it is never a straight line
- 35:54no um nfc south gets a spot even
- 36:00with sub-five hundred record yes and then
- 36:05you know the term any given sunday was
- 36:08derived because then once you get there
- 36:12Yeah,
- 36:12you got in with a seven and nine
- 36:14record, but if you beat the next guy,
- 36:17you still get to move on.
- 36:18Yeah.
- 36:26Yes, I think Vicky just read my mind.
- 36:29The test on that day,
- 36:31if I get my degree because the test
- 36:33had harder questions versus the person
- 36:36last year in the same program got an
- 36:39easier test, doesn't matter.
- 36:42That's the beauty of sport.
- 36:44Yep.
- 36:45It's the beauty of sports.
- 36:50Any given Sunday,
- 36:52anybody can win any given year.
- 36:54Anybody can win whatever the test is,
- 36:58right?
- 36:59Whether you're playing in a snow storm in
- 37:01the middle of January or playing in a
- 37:03dome, it doesn't matter.
- 37:05You have to,
- 37:06you were presented with that test that
- 37:08day, the rat run pyre feed or something.
- 37:13No, I was trying to blow my nose.
- 37:15I didn't want to hit the mic.
- 37:19News on WFP Master.
- 37:24I am not into WFP yet, Larry.
- 37:26I got to get through semifinals first.
- 37:33Yeah.
- 37:37So anyway,
- 37:38it goes back to the whole thing is
- 37:40storytelling.
- 37:42And Quinn's story was awesome.
- 37:44If you didn't get to see that,
- 37:45please go check out Savan's show this
- 37:50morning.
- 37:50It was phenomenal.
- 37:52Quinn is a phenomenal human.
- 37:54And gosh,
- 37:55I want him to win so bad this
- 37:56weekend now.
- 37:58Or at least finish top seven.
- 37:59I just want to see him at the
- 38:01games.
- 38:03Whatever that ends up looking at.
- 38:05I just want him to see his sister
- 38:07in Madison.
- 38:08Yeah.
- 38:10He lives a whole lot of life for
- 38:12not being very old as of yet and
- 38:18deserves a shot.
- 38:19So I say deserves a shot.
- 38:21Everybody says that,
- 38:22but he's an amazing human being.
- 38:25So I'm pulling for him for sure.
- 38:28Ortega is confident he's going to the
- 38:30games.
- 38:31I like it.
- 38:31I like where your head's at, John.
- 38:35I'm not so confident that he's going to
- 38:37the games.
- 38:38I just want him to go.
- 38:40We'll find out.
- 38:43I mean,
- 38:44that lineup of people going this weekend
- 38:47are pipe hitters, man.
- 38:52Colton, Spencer, him, Yona.
- 38:58Justin.
- 38:59Justin.
- 39:02I mean, I'll give you his top seven.
- 39:06I have three that are definites,
- 39:08and after that, I don't.
- 39:10Yeah, no.
- 39:11My three definites are Justin, Colton,
- 39:13Yona.
- 39:14Yeah.
- 39:16And then the rest of it is a
- 39:19roll the dice.
- 39:21Or pick a name.
- 39:22Spencer's great online.
- 39:24And Spencer's great at classic CrossFit.
- 39:27And when you're doing online,
- 39:28it's pretty much classic CrossFit.
- 39:30Generally.
- 39:31So I put him in a very high
- 39:32likelihood.
- 39:34And then the next three,
- 39:37put them all in a hat.
- 39:43pipe hitters or pipe fitters birds
- 39:45whatever same thing pipe hitters uh nate i
- 39:55i don't have him guaranteed i would like
- 40:00to see it i went i'd like to
- 40:02see it and i saw what you meant
- 40:03about him like just laying on the floor
- 40:06in the hallway good night dude
- 40:12I worry about his emotional maturity.
- 40:20How old is Nate?
- 40:21Nineteen?
- 40:22Twenty?
- 40:24I don't even know.
- 40:25He's young.
- 40:26I know he's young.
- 40:30I like him.
- 40:31I want him to do well.
- 40:32I just don't want him to do well.
- 40:35But there's only so many spots.
- 40:37And there's even less spots this year
- 40:38because they're only taking twenty.
- 40:39Because it's his twenty year anniversary.
- 40:41So...
- 40:46Uh, taller,
- 40:46heavier athletes typically have a harder
- 40:48time online.
- 40:49Ask me how I know.
- 40:51That's why I said,
- 40:51Spencer has a good shot.
- 40:55Carolyn made a great point last night that
- 40:57these online semis,
- 40:59if you're part of a camp,
- 41:00it is such a huge advantage because you
- 41:04have people that can test workouts for
- 41:06you.
- 41:07You have people that can be rabbits for
- 41:08you.
- 41:10And it is such a huge advantage.
- 41:15And so you kind of have to look
- 41:16at that too.
- 41:17And when I heard Saxon say he was
- 41:19going to test the workouts for Spencer,
- 41:21I was like, damn,
- 41:23you have someone that's probably even a
- 41:27little bit better than you to test the
- 41:30workouts and to tell you how it feels,
- 41:32and it's your twin brother.
- 41:38I cannot fathom a more ideal situation.
- 41:42Like I can't.
- 41:44So let me get this straight.
- 41:46Your twin brother who's been doing
- 41:48CrossFit the exact same amount of time
- 41:49that you have and is your twin brother
- 41:52who is already qualified,
- 41:54has nothing else to do this weekend,
- 41:56can help you out by testing these workouts
- 41:58for you.
- 41:59Yeah.
- 41:59Okay, good.
- 42:06Jacob says,
- 42:06I'm curious to know if the hype Castro
- 42:08has about these games and the general poor
- 42:10feedback from the opening quarterfinals
- 42:12will bleed into this year's semis and they
- 42:15become the hardest yet.
- 42:17I think you believe Castro is affected by
- 42:21the comments more than I do.
- 42:26I don't think he gives two shits.
- 42:31Not even one.
- 42:34He reads that stuff,
- 42:35reads those comments and whatnot,
- 42:37and he laughs about it,
- 42:38and then as soon as he says whatever
- 42:39he's got to say about it,
- 42:40it's out of his brain and gone,
- 42:43and he's on to the next thing.
- 42:55If the Indy workouts are similar to team
- 42:57semi-workouts, they'll be dumb,
- 42:59but whatever.
- 43:02there's so much bitching about that.
- 43:03And I hate it.
- 43:05I hate it.
- 43:07Because when you're going online,
- 43:09you are very,
- 43:10your palate is much more limited than it
- 43:14is at an in person competition.
- 43:16Yeah.
- 43:17And why if this is ever going to
- 43:19survive,
- 43:20we have to find a way to keep
- 43:23in person competition,
- 43:25in person competitions earlier in the
- 43:29season as a part of that season.
- 43:33Got to make them profitable.
- 43:36But everybody wants to say that Dave is
- 43:38repeating this and repeating that.
- 43:41There's only so many things you can do.
- 43:44There are so many things you can't judge
- 43:47well online.
- 43:48There are so many things you can't video
- 43:51online.
- 43:54And it takes away all of that from
- 43:56his palate.
- 43:58Teams ran last year for online.
- 44:01Do y'all remember that?
- 44:01Y'all remember how well that went over?
- 44:05I do.
- 44:05I wasn't even judge them because I watched
- 44:10the mom company team run and like they
- 44:14did everything they could to make sure
- 44:15that if somebody asked for the video,
- 44:17we're going to have video from all
- 44:19possible angles of them actually running.
- 44:21Um,
- 44:22but a lot of teams did and just
- 44:24didn't care.
- 44:26Uh, here's the question.
- 44:27Sure.
- 44:27He care.
- 44:31No.
- 44:32No.
- 44:36I don't know.
- 44:36Listen,
- 44:36sport is about you are presented with a
- 44:38test and you take it on and you
- 44:40win or you lose.
- 44:45He can't care.
- 44:46Look,
- 44:48if Castro started giving a damn about the
- 44:50eight hundred and eighty five million
- 44:52people on the planet who were like,
- 44:54fire Dave Castro, Castro stupid man,
- 44:59That jet black hair of his would be
- 45:01full white by now,
- 45:04and he's my age if he were to
- 45:08let himself care.
- 45:10He cannot listen to outside voices.
- 45:11He cannot listen to outside stuff like
- 45:13that because he has this vision in his
- 45:15brain that he works on all year long
- 45:17to make the games whatever they are going
- 45:19to end up being.
- 45:21So no, he should not care.
- 45:25She'll not care.
- 45:27Isn't the listening to the peanut gallery
- 45:28part of the reason we're even in the
- 45:30position we are now?
- 45:32Yes.
- 45:32Yes.
- 45:33To a degree.
- 45:34To a degree.
- 45:35I think that they...
- 45:38Every once in a while,
- 45:39they'll listen to said peanut gallery
- 45:41because the peanut gallery actually has a
- 45:43good idea,
- 45:43and then they'll take that good idea,
- 45:45and they will...
- 45:47morph it change it make it a not
- 45:50great idea and then kind of add that
- 45:52part of it in in there every once
- 45:54in a while they do listen to the
- 45:55peanut gallery and we get a good thing
- 45:57good good result out of it but nine
- 45:59times out of ten it does not end
- 46:00well because they don't listen to the
- 46:03right part of the peanut gallery squeaky
- 46:05obvious degrees the the the peanut gallery
- 46:09they're listening to are the vocal
- 46:10minority correct and that's the problem
- 46:21No, Larry,
- 46:22because we don't know any better.
- 46:23No.
- 46:28No.
- 46:28There are so many reasons butts aren't in
- 46:30the seats other than the programming.
- 46:35I would say eight hundred dollar a seat
- 46:39tickets to the games is one of the
- 46:41main reasons why butts aren't in the
- 46:42seats.
- 46:43I'm not spending eight hundred dollars to
- 46:45go to the games.
- 46:45I haven't not to go not to go
- 46:48watch.
- 46:49That's insane.
- 46:51Not having a season that is worth
- 46:54following or understanding or whatever is
- 46:57a reason butts aren't in the seats.
- 47:00Not knowing who's going to show up at
- 47:01an event is why butts aren't in the
- 47:03seats.
- 47:04And yes,
- 47:06I know the game started in California,
- 47:09but California is freaking expensive.
- 47:12And only getting more so.
- 47:14So being able to afford the hotels along
- 47:17with those eight hundred dollar seats and
- 47:20the transportation to and from is
- 47:23ridiculous.
- 47:26Yep.
- 47:37Anyway.
- 47:40Well.
- 47:42We've got a lot going on today.
- 47:44We've got the new workouts coming out for
- 47:46the individual semis.
- 47:48We've got the results for the teams and
- 47:50their leaderboard to go live both at three
- 47:53o'clock Eastern this afternoon,
- 47:55noon Pacific, and for Corey, two-ish.
- 47:59Because in Central, they just ish it all.
- 48:04Hey, bro.
- 48:04It's the largest, I should say.
- 48:10time zone and the only one that's
- 48:11important.
- 48:13I don't know if it's actually the largest.
- 48:14I just made that up,
- 48:14but I feel like it is.
- 48:18Okay, we'll agree to disagree on that one.
- 48:21But with that,
- 48:21I'm going to get back to work.
- 48:23It's time for you knuckleheads to get back
- 48:25to work as well.
- 48:26And we'll be back tomorrow when we know
- 48:29some of the answers to all this.
- 48:31We'll be able to discuss all of this
- 48:33instead of a bunch of hypotheticals.
- 48:36And we'll do all that tomorrow on Lunch
- 48:38with the Clydesdale.
- 48:40Bye, guys.
- 48:41You wouldn't wait to get to the editing
- 48:43room to jazz me up.
- 48:45I'm already jazzy.
- 48:56Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
- 48:58saddle.
- 48:58Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
- 49:00saddle.
- 49:01Talking reps realize strength in the
- 49:03battle.
- 49:05From the gym to the screen, yeah,
- 49:07we cover it all.
- 49:09Midday motivation every time we press
- 49:12call.
- 49:12Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
- 49:15saddle.
