- 1:49Speaker 4: weather is kind of on everybody's mind this morning, and
- 1:53Speaker 4: we're gonna check in with Stormtracker thirteen meteorologist Brian Hughes
- 1:57Speaker 4: about that coming up a little bit later on. Looks
- 1:59Speaker 4: like you think about this weather system, it looks like
- 2:01Speaker 4: there's going to be a few rounds of it. The
- 2:04Speaker 4: most severe is going to be overnight tonight. It looks
- 2:07Speaker 4: like maybe after ten eleven o'clock or so. That's the
- 2:10Speaker 4: way it looks right now. This is an ever changing thing.
- 2:13Speaker 4: If you've been watching, Brian, I been following the weather.
- 2:15Speaker 4: You know, it's kind of kind of a working progress
- 2:18Speaker 4: right now. Brian will join us talk about that a
- 2:20Speaker 4: little bit later on. Now everything should be cleared up
- 2:22Speaker 4: for tomorrow for the Armed Forces parade in South Charleston,
- 2:26Speaker 4: and Vicky Vaughan from the City of South charles looking
- 2:29Speaker 4: to join us and talk about that. Our stations will
- 2:31Speaker 4: be a big part of that. The beat V one
- 2:34Speaker 4: hundred ninety six to one KWS and WCCHS will be there.
- 2:38Speaker 4: I'll be there representing w CCHS tomorrow. Looking forward to
- 2:41Speaker 4: seeing you there for that. Let's forget some things in
- 2:43Speaker 4: the news as last night the Canaw County Board of Education. There,
- 2:47Speaker 4: like a lot of counties around the state, the county
- 2:49Speaker 4: boards are kind of struggling with what to do over
- 2:51Speaker 4: what the law says and what the governor's executive order
- 2:55Speaker 4: says when it comes to vaccines. We'll kind of get
- 2:58Speaker 4: in that story a little bit later on. Also another
- 3:00Speaker 4: story in the news, but a lot of folks were
- 3:02Speaker 4: following and it has to do with smoking at Marty Gracassino.
- 3:05Speaker 4: There were some folks out there that had put a
- 3:08Speaker 4: I guess a request for to at least be looked
- 3:10Speaker 4: at to have an amendment to the Indoor Air Act
- 3:14Speaker 4: that would allow for smoking at Marty Garcasino. That went
- 3:16Speaker 4: before the Canal Board of Health and they voted it
- 3:19Speaker 4: down by a vote to forty two. So we'll talk
- 3:21Speaker 4: about that coming up a little bit later on. Plus
- 3:23Speaker 4: your calls and text as always, are welcome. Big Ley

- 3:28Speaker 4: eight fifty eight. Tony BA Taylor Text three zero four
- 3:31Speaker 4: nine three five five zero zero eight US Welcome in now,
- 3:35Speaker 4: Angie Gillan Water from the Kannaal Charleston Humaine Association with
- 3:37Speaker 4: this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week, Angie,
- 3:41Speaker 4: Happy Friday. Welcome to the show, Happy Friday. Thank you
- 3:45Speaker 4: for being here. As always, our Pet of the week's
- 3:48Speaker 4: picture posted Dave aland Radio on Facebook and at Dave
- 3:51Speaker 4: A seventy on X And you made me promise when
- 3:54Speaker 4: we talked last night that you would not let me
- 3:57Speaker 4: make fun of the name, since you're the one that
- 3:59Speaker 4: named this dog. The dog's name is Mom Jeans.
- 4:04Speaker 6: Her name is Mom Jeans. She is if you look
- 4:08Speaker 6: at the profile that we wrote up for her yesterday
- 4:11Speaker 6: on Facebook. That would be me that wrote that lots
- 4:14Speaker 6: of Jean puns, lots of mom puns, so please check
- 4:17Speaker 6: that out.
- 4:18Speaker 4: And mom jeans is a is a name. That's because
- 4:23Speaker 4: I'll be honest with you, Angie. Sometimes when you come
- 4:25Speaker 4: up with the animal the names for these animals, I
- 4:27Speaker 4: don't know what you're talking about, and I have to Usually,
- 4:30Speaker 4: you know, if Ryan Nicholson is producing the show on Fridays,
- 4:33Speaker 4: I have to go to Ryan to ask him, Okay,
- 4:34Speaker 4: what exactly does this mean? And usually it's something to
- 4:37Speaker 4: do with a video game or something like that. And
- 4:39Speaker 4: you it's like you and Ryan know what you're talking about.
- 4:41Speaker 4: I don't mom jeans.
- 4:42Speaker 5: I do know.
- 4:43Speaker 4: This is a term that just came out, I guess
- 4:44Speaker 4: within the last ten years or so, to describe jeans
- 4:48Speaker 4: that somebody who's a mother would wear, like maybe a
- 4:50Speaker 4: little bit older style. Is that is that right?
- 4:53Speaker 6: Correct? Like we're thinking like high waisted, acid washed type.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Of gen So why would you name a dog mom jeans?
- 5:00Speaker 4: Or do I really want to know?
- 5:02Speaker 6: So she came in, she had some pub she looked
- 5:06Speaker 6: like a mother, to put it lightly so so too.
- 5:11Speaker 6: I was like, she's got to be named something mommy,
- 5:13Speaker 6: And then the first thing that came in my head
- 5:14Speaker 6: was mom Jeans and naming her babies after different types
- 5:17Speaker 6: of pants.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Oh wow, oh wow. Okay, so leave it to leave
- 5:21Speaker 4: it to creative mind of Angie Gillenwater. Okay, so Mom
- 5:24Speaker 4: Jean's picture is posted as always on my social media.
- 5:27Speaker 4: You can check out the picture Dave alland Radio and
- 5:29Speaker 4: Facebook or at Dave a seventy on X. Mom Jeans
- 5:32Speaker 4: is two years old, sixty two pounds, great with other dogs,
- 5:36Speaker 4: great with kids, very mannerly, very sweet, young lady. What
- 5:39Speaker 4: else can you tell us about Mom Jeans?
- 5:42Speaker 6: She's very playful with other dogs. She's not one of
- 5:45Speaker 6: those dogs that like is just going to coexist with
- 5:47Speaker 6: another dog. If you have a dog at home that's
- 5:50Speaker 6: board or just needs a little buddy, you might want
- 5:53Speaker 6: to consider fostering or possibly adopting Mom Jeans. She loves
- 5:56Speaker 6: to play and has a moderate amount of energy. She
- 5:59Speaker 6: knows when to settle down for a good nap.
- 6:01Speaker 4: And what kind of dog is she?
- 6:04Speaker 6: I would say she's probably like a Lab mix. She's
- 6:07Speaker 6: pretty large like a lab. She's got like the face
- 6:11Speaker 6: shape and coloring of a lab. But you know, who
- 6:13Speaker 6: really knows. She might be a hound husky mix for
- 6:15Speaker 6: all weeds.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Yeah, it's kind of hard to tell sometimes. Again, we're
- 6:18Speaker 4: talking with Angie Gillenwater from the Canal Trust and Humane Association,
- 6:21Speaker 4: with mom jeans our adopt me please, Pet of the Week,
- 6:25Speaker 4: vax Spade, all that stuff crossed off.
- 6:28Speaker 6: She has not stayed yet, but we are staying everybody
- 6:31Speaker 6: in the building before they head out to their forever home.
- 6:34Speaker 6: So she has caught up on vaccines. She just needs
- 6:36Speaker 6: to be stayed.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Yeah. Coop just said to me in my ear here
- 6:42Speaker 4: he's producing the show today. They're Spain. Everybody, please please
- 6:46Speaker 4: make note that you are Spain the animals, not the people.
- 6:48Speaker 6: Oh, absolutely, absolutely, all right.
- 6:50Speaker 4: I just want to make sure. I just want to
- 6:52Speaker 4: make sure, all right. So you folks are going to
- 6:55Speaker 4: be out about Capital Flea Market. I understand tomorrow, Rank.
- 6:58Speaker 6: You have Capital Flea Market tomorrow from noon to three
- 7:01Speaker 6: with adoptable puppies and kittens if we have them.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think it's very important because a lot
- 7:07Speaker 4: of times people will reach out and they'll say, well,
- 7:09Speaker 4: you know, can they go to this event and go
- 7:10Speaker 4: to that event? Sometimes all you gotta do is you
- 7:12Speaker 4: just got to be asked and but sometimes space is
- 7:16Speaker 4: an issue. But I'm glad to see that. In the weather.
- 7:18Speaker 4: By the way, we're expecting some severe weather today tonight,
- 7:21Speaker 4: but by tomorrow it should be fine. So it should
- 7:23Speaker 4: be great for the Capital flea market and great for
- 7:26Speaker 4: you to have the pets out there tomorrow.
- 7:29Speaker 6: Yes, correct, And even if you can't adopt an animal,
- 7:32Speaker 6: you can still buy and see us talk with us
- 7:35Speaker 6: about these puppies and kittens. We'd love to have your
- 7:37Speaker 6: company tomorrow.
- 7:39Speaker 2: All right.
- 7:39Speaker 4: There is definitely Angie's you well know, a need for
- 7:42Speaker 4: people to adopt pets, but also a need for people
- 7:45Speaker 4: to agree to become fosters, as you mentioned that when
- 7:47Speaker 4: we were talking about Mom Jeans a little bit earlier.
- 7:49Speaker 4: And you've put some of the foster stories, the actual
- 7:54Speaker 4: pet fosters on your Facebook page, some great stories on there.
- 8:00Speaker 6: Yes, a lot of our fosters. We actually have a
- 8:02Speaker 6: Facebook group for our fosters. We reached out for anyone
- 8:06Speaker 6: that wanted to, you know, give their testimony to fostering,
- 8:09Speaker 6: and hopefully it will encourage people that have been thinking
- 8:12Speaker 6: about it to actually do that and experience the love
- 8:16Speaker 6: of a foster pet.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Yeah, because, as we talk about every Weekendsie, sometimes people
- 8:21Speaker 4: love animals, they're just not in a position to take
- 8:23Speaker 4: them in on a permanent basis. But there's so many
- 8:25Speaker 4: opportunities for you be able to be able to help
- 8:28Speaker 4: out the shelter, whether it's through fostering, whether it's just
- 8:31Speaker 4: taking the pets out for a walk, you know, taking
- 8:34Speaker 4: them to the dog park, take them to your home
- 8:36Speaker 4: just for a little bit and get them out of
- 8:37Speaker 4: that environment. I know you have all sorts of pets
- 8:40Speaker 4: available for adoption, but sometimes people like smaller dogs. People
- 8:45Speaker 4: I know it will reach out to you. They'll reach
- 8:46Speaker 4: out to this show and say, well, you know, I
- 8:48Speaker 4: live in a small space. What I'd really love to
- 8:50Speaker 4: have a smaller pet. And you actually did a little
- 8:53Speaker 4: post this week about having a bunch of smaller dogs available.
- 8:58Speaker 6: Yes, we tried to really target what people are looking
- 9:02Speaker 6: for and what we hear the most at the shelter.
- 9:04Speaker 6: So we'll try to do those posts that you know,
- 9:06Speaker 6: I'm looking for housebroken or good with cats, small dogs.
- 9:10Speaker 6: But we do have quite a bit of small dogs
- 9:12Speaker 6: available now. They're all in our kennels that say big dogs.
- 9:16Speaker 6: Even though they're not.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Don't let that sound for you. You always have a
- 9:21Speaker 4: good selection there. And speaking of which, how are the
- 9:23Speaker 4: numbers looking right now, Angie, because I know last week
- 9:25Speaker 4: you were kind of pushing the panic button as far
- 9:29Speaker 4: as the numbers go. As a matter of fact, you
- 9:30Speaker 4: told us last week that the shelter at least as
- 9:33Speaker 4: of then, could not take any pets in. That we're
- 9:36Speaker 4: just picked up astrays unless they were sick or had
- 9:38Speaker 4: some other health issues. Where are we now, So we.
- 9:41Speaker 6: Are still We're not quite to the point where we
- 9:44Speaker 6: can't take anybody in. We're still kind of bouncing between
- 9:48Speaker 6: anywhere from four seventy to five hundred animals in our care.
- 9:51Speaker 6: We just kind of keep going back and forth and
- 9:53Speaker 6: back and forth. But we are in a more comfortable
- 9:57Speaker 6: area now. That does not mean that we a are
- 10:00Speaker 6: empty or at the numbers that we.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Should be at exactly. Hey, we had a text here
- 10:05Speaker 4: and this is actually a good idea. Someone asked about
- 10:08Speaker 4: West Virginia having a license plate showing support of the
- 10:12Speaker 4: statewide humane societies, and the text goes on to say, yes,
- 10:16Speaker 4: we do have one just for wildlife conservation efforts, but
- 10:18Speaker 4: shelter animals need focus with a portion of those sales
- 10:21Speaker 4: going to each county shelters. That's a pretty pretty dang
- 10:24Speaker 4: good idea, Angie.
- 10:25Speaker 6: Yeah, I love that idea.
- 10:27Speaker 4: So I would urge that texture to reach out to
- 10:31Speaker 4: your local representatives. And you know, I'm not sure where
- 10:35Speaker 4: their texture is coming from, but to reach out to
- 10:36Speaker 4: your local legislators, reach out to your elected officials. Maybe
- 10:40Speaker 4: we can get that done. That's actually a good idea.
- 10:41Speaker 4: I know I would buy one. I would sign up
- 10:43Speaker 4: for a definitely, especially especially if we knew that the
- 10:46Speaker 4: shelter's got a portion of what's going on there. Hey, Angie,
- 10:50Speaker 4: I appreciate you joining us today. How are the cat
- 10:53Speaker 4: How are the cat situation looking like up there?
- 10:56Speaker 6: So cats are The good thing about our cats is
- 10:59Speaker 6: they are getting all did quickly. As soon as they
- 11:01Speaker 6: come in, they're pretty much leaving. So that's the good news.
- 11:05Speaker 6: But we are still just taking in new cats every
- 11:07Speaker 6: single day. And I will say to give everyone an
- 11:10Speaker 6: update on the forty two from that one situation where
- 11:14Speaker 6: the man lifted a palette. Those guys are starting to
- 11:17Speaker 6: trickle in and be available for adoption. They're all doing great.
- 11:21Speaker 6: So if you see a kitten named after one of
- 11:23Speaker 6: the fifty states that is part of that group, if
- 11:26Speaker 6: you'd like to add them to your hold.
- 11:28Speaker 4: That was a story we told you. I guess what
- 11:30Speaker 4: two or three weeks ago or so, where a gentleman
- 11:32Speaker 4: was doing some work on a construction site and he
- 11:36Speaker 4: found a palette and he opened up or he I
- 11:38Speaker 4: guess he pulled up the palette and there were how
- 11:41Speaker 4: many kittens in there?
- 11:43Speaker 6: Thirty eight kittens and four mama cats.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Yeah, they were all like living there, and it's good
- 11:47Speaker 4: to know that we're able to get those cats adopted.
- 11:50Speaker 4: All right, So I have another question here where you're
- 11:52Speaker 4: popular today, Angie. It says I would love to volunteer
- 11:56Speaker 4: to clean up there, But I have to ask, how
- 11:57Speaker 4: do you all keep from breaking down crying when you
- 12:00Speaker 4: see these sweet animals or hear their stories. That's what
- 12:03Speaker 4: I may have trouble with.
- 12:05Speaker 6: So's there's more difficult stories than others. Some of them
- 12:11Speaker 6: might bring you to tears. But when you walk into
- 12:14Speaker 6: that building, you can feel the love from all of
- 12:16Speaker 6: our volunteers, all of our staff members, and from the
- 12:18Speaker 6: animals themselves. So that's one thing that kind of keeps
- 12:21Speaker 6: me going back every day. Is just the environment itself.
- 12:26Speaker 6: It might be sad to see them behind kennels, and
- 12:28Speaker 6: might be sad to see them barking, but knowing that
- 12:31Speaker 6: you're making a difference in this part of their life
- 12:33Speaker 6: is something that just kind of warms your heart and
- 12:35Speaker 6: makes it something that you can do every day.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Well, what I read into that text is you got
- 12:40Speaker 4: somebody volunteering to come up there and clean. So I
- 12:43Speaker 4: would say here's what I would do. To the text,
- 12:45Speaker 4: I would say, get in touch with Angie and she'll
- 12:48Speaker 4: start you yesterday. Is that right as a volunteer?
- 12:50Speaker 6: Absolutely? Yeah, yeah, Or you can just shove up to
- 12:53Speaker 6: the shelter. If I'm not there, we can still put
- 12:55Speaker 6: you to work.
- 12:56Speaker 4: All right. Hey, Angie, I appreciate you being here. We
- 12:59Speaker 4: will talk again next week. Thanks a lot.
- 13:01Speaker 6: Sounds great.
- 13:01Speaker 4: I have a good one you as well, Angie Gillawater
- 13:03Speaker 4: knaw Charleston Humaine Association. Mom Jeans is our pet this week.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Two years old, sixty two pounds, great with other dogs
- 13:11Speaker 4: and kids, very mannerly, sweet young lady. Not spade yet
- 13:15Speaker 4: but will be before she is able to go. So
- 13:18Speaker 4: don't let that hold you back. And if you want
- 13:19Speaker 4: to see Mom Jean's picture. I've got it posted over
- 13:22Speaker 4: on Dave Island Radio on Facebook and at Dave A
- 13:25Speaker 4: seventy on X And to that texture that reached out
- 13:27Speaker 4: there about possibly volunteering to clean, I mean, as I said,
- 13:32Speaker 4: Angie will put you to work. Just call up the
- 13:34Speaker 4: shelter or just show up at the shelter. That probably
- 13:36Speaker 4: would be the thing to do. And for you know,

- 16:37Speaker 4: Welcome to the show. Thank you very much, thank you
- 16:39Speaker 4: for being here. Welcome to our our new studio.
- 16:41Speaker 11: Oh it's beautiful.
- 16:42Speaker 4: I like to say this to people because you's the
- 16:44Speaker 4: first time you've been in this particular studio.
- 16:46Speaker 11: I really like it.
- 16:47Speaker 4: How many years is this big event going on in.
- 16:49Speaker 12: South sixth annual Armed Forces Day Parade, the Herbert J.
- 16:53Speaker 11: Thomas Memorial.
- 16:54Speaker 12: Yeah, as you know, the hospital in town w Medisine
- 16:58Speaker 12: Herbert or Thomas Maan Memorial is named after Herbert J. Thomas,
- 17:02Speaker 12: and this parade is a memorial to him also.
- 17:06Speaker 4: And you got a special Grand Marshall. I understand, Yes,
- 17:08Speaker 4: we do.
- 17:09Speaker 12: This year, we are going to have Brigadier General Michael Cadle.
- 17:13Speaker 4: And who is Michael Cadle for people that man.
- 17:15Speaker 12: He is the director of the Joint Staff of the
- 17:18Speaker 12: West Virginia National Guard.
- 17:19Speaker 4: It's quite an honor to have him there. It is,
- 17:22Speaker 4: it is, it is. So give us the times, the
- 17:24Speaker 4: details on everything, and then we'll break it down from there.
- 17:27Speaker 12: Well, tomorrow's Saturday, May seventeenth. We're going to have all
- 17:31Speaker 12: of our participants in the parade start lining up at
- 17:34Speaker 12: eleven o'clock and the parade will go off exactly at noon.
- 17:38Speaker 12: So we want all the people to come down to
- 17:41Speaker 12: South Charleston plan on parking.
- 17:43Speaker 11: There's lots of parking lots on C Street and East Street.
- 17:47Speaker 12: Come down to South Charleston Park, bring the kids, come
- 17:51Speaker 12: and help us honor the military. We have over fifty
- 17:54Speaker 12: five units in the parade. So it will start, like
- 17:57Speaker 12: I said, at exactly twelve.
- 17:58Speaker 4: And let me just tell you, I've been in a
- 18:00Speaker 4: lot of parades, Christmas parades and so on and so forth.
- 18:03Speaker 4: When you say that you folks start at twelve, you
- 18:06Speaker 4: don't mean twelve on one.
- 18:07Speaker 11: We started twelve. I want to watch and it's like okay, twelve.
- 18:11Speaker 4: That's one of the things I like about that, especially
- 18:13Speaker 4: when we get into because you know when the Christmas
- 18:16Speaker 4: parades are held, so many of them are held on
- 18:18Speaker 4: the same day, and our station vehicles are usually in
- 18:21Speaker 4: those and you know, you wouldn't think that ten or
- 18:23Speaker 4: fifteen minutes here makes a big difference, but when you're
- 18:26Speaker 4: doing let's say South Charleston, then you're doing Saint Albans
- 18:29Speaker 4: and then you're doing Nitro, it does make a big difference.
- 18:31Speaker 4: So on behalf of a parade, attendees everywhere or parade
- 18:37Speaker 4: what did you call him? Participants? We thank you for
- 18:41Speaker 4: your promptness is very important.
- 18:43Speaker 12: Yes, our mayor is a stickler about the parade starting exactly.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Oh, I know he is.
- 18:50Speaker 11: We're always on time.
- 18:51Speaker 6: I got you.
- 18:52Speaker 4: But Dave Allen showing five any Live is brought to

- 19:04Speaker 4: Barbersville and Milton businessnapfitness dot com for more details. How
- 19:08Speaker 4: many units do you say? You ahead?
- 19:09Speaker 3: Again?
- 19:10Speaker 12: We have over fifty five units. And I found out
- 19:13Speaker 12: yesterday that WVU Medicine Thomas Hospital, they have a coworker
- 19:18Speaker 12: that is going to bring her horse. It was in
- 19:22Speaker 12: the Christmas parade and it's awesome. It will stop around
- 19:25Speaker 12: the kids and let the kids look at it. It's
- 19:28Speaker 12: a beautiful horse. So we're excited about having that in
- 19:31Speaker 12: the parade. And of course all the military units. We
- 19:34Speaker 12: have vfw's Cold War veterans, we have plenty of junior
- 19:39Speaker 12: ROTC groups, we have the Gold Star Mothers, which will
- 19:43Speaker 12: put a tear in your eye when you see that.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Absolutely, Parde, Absolutely, and again it's a salute to the
- 19:48Speaker 4: military for everything that they've done. And we can again
- 19:52Speaker 4: the listeners hear me say this over and over again.
- 19:54Speaker 4: No state has ever done more for its military and
- 19:58Speaker 4: has given more to this country that I mean. That's
- 20:01Speaker 4: not that's not me just editorializing. That's a fact. You
- 20:04Speaker 4: know that West Virginia has lost more people per capita
- 20:08Speaker 4: than any other state.
- 20:10Speaker 12: You're exactly right, So please everyone come out to the
- 20:14Speaker 12: parade tomorrow to honor our military.
- 20:16Speaker 4: And I know the weather's a concerned a lot of people,
- 20:20Speaker 4: but it does look like but by by the time
- 20:22Speaker 4: by twelve o'clock tomorrow, actually, well before then, things should
- 20:25Speaker 4: be calmed down. There may be a little bit of
- 20:27Speaker 4: wind tomorrow, but the severe weather and I'm gonna talk
- 20:29Speaker 4: to Brian Hughes about that a little bit. The severe
- 20:32Speaker 4: weather is supposed to be out of here by like
- 20:33Speaker 4: two or three o'clock in the morning. Now, there could
- 20:36Speaker 4: still be some some winds afterwards, but not no no thunder,
- 20:40Speaker 4: no lightning, no hail or anything like that for the.
- 20:42Speaker 12: Parade tomorrow, right, And I haven't had anyone canceled, so
- 20:45Speaker 12: that's good.
- 20:45Speaker 4: That's good. Can people still sign up? Or are you
- 20:47Speaker 4: all fulled up with this?
- 20:48Speaker 12: Actually, if you want to be in the parade, if
- 20:51Speaker 12: you want to give me a call at the South
- 20:54Speaker 12: Charleston CBB at three oh four seven four six five
- 20:57Speaker 12: five five two.
- 20:58Speaker 11: I'll be glad to put you in parde.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Okay, because sometimes you know, you can only have so
- 21:02Speaker 4: many exactly, And it's very easy. It's a very very
- 21:06Speaker 4: one thing's al easy. It's a very very route, easy route,
- 21:09Speaker 4: like you said, as far as I mean, you know,
- 21:11Speaker 4: your lineup is very simple and for those who may
- 21:14Speaker 4: be attending for the first time, as far as participants
- 21:16Speaker 4: go explain, because that's that's always another big parade. You
- 21:19Speaker 4: get there, you're like, okay, where do I Where do
- 21:21Speaker 4: I go? You folks always do such a great job
- 21:24Speaker 4: of having people. I mean, it's it's almost like the
- 21:26Speaker 4: minute that you pass Bob Evans or something, you've got
- 21:29Speaker 4: people going, okay, go this way, go left, go right
- 21:31Speaker 4: along every step of the route.
- 21:32Speaker 12: I have my board members of the Convention and Visitor
- 21:36Speaker 12: Bureau are events staff, and so they help guide you
- 21:40Speaker 12: to the places that you need to go.
- 21:42Speaker 11: But the parade is very simple.
- 21:44Speaker 12: It starts on Second Avenue, goes at Second Avenue in
- 21:48Speaker 12: D Street, goes all the way down D Street, and
- 21:51Speaker 12: at the mound, which is Seventh Avenue, the parade participants
- 21:55Speaker 12: will turn the left and it will end on East Street.
- 21:58Speaker 12: So it's real simple these Street, East Streets or D Street,
- 22:01Speaker 12: Seventh Avenue, East Street.
- 22:03Speaker 4: And it's easy out too for those of you that
- 22:07Speaker 4: may have other things to do in the day. Those
- 22:08Speaker 4: are the participants, because I mean, literally what we normally
- 22:11Speaker 4: do in all of our stations except for one, are
- 22:14Speaker 4: going to be there. And I'll explain why I here
- 22:15Speaker 4: in a mat it. But I mean as soon as
- 22:18Speaker 4: a participant. As soon as you're done, you get right
- 22:20Speaker 4: to the end and you hang her right, hang and left.
- 22:22Speaker 4: You're on sixty. You can just you can continue from there.
- 22:25Speaker 4: All of our stations are going to be there except
- 22:27Speaker 4: ninety eight seven A Mountain because we already had a
- 22:29Speaker 4: prior commitment to do a live broadcast over a to
- 22:31Speaker 4: Trojan Landing Marinea Power Sports. So Mountain Truck will not
- 22:35Speaker 4: be there, but we're adding a new one this year.
- 22:38Speaker 4: The w c CHS vehicle will be there. That's a
- 22:41Speaker 4: that's a that's a new to us, a vehicle that
- 22:43Speaker 4: we have here at the radio ranch. And I'm going
- 22:46Speaker 4: to be driving that tomorrow. And also I have I
- 22:49Speaker 4: got a commitment, at least a verbal commitment, Coop, you'll
- 22:52Speaker 4: appreciate this from Dave Weekly to be there tomorrow. Weekly.
- 22:54Speaker 4: And now we're talking about it, and Dave is a
- 22:56Speaker 4: he's literally he told me he lives like half a
- 22:58Speaker 4: mile or if even that. So mister Weekley, the host
- 23:02Speaker 4: of Now, put him on the spot. He has to
- 23:03Speaker 4: be there. The host of Hotline, which airs on this
- 23:07Speaker 4: another Metro news station from three to six, Dave Weekly
- 23:09Speaker 4: says he's going to come out and he's going to
- 23:10Speaker 4: ride with me.
- 23:11Speaker 12: So, oh, that's wonderful. His wife used to take a
- 23:14Speaker 12: lot of photographs for us.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Yeah, she's a wonderful photographer. Yeah, she's a wonderful Linda
- 23:18Speaker 4: is a wonderful photographer. Tex said, any flyover tomorrow?
- 23:22Speaker 12: No, No, we have Sean Zananinga who is the new
- 23:26Speaker 12: marketing director for the city, has tried to get that
- 23:29Speaker 12: and we have been unsuccessful.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Maybe next maybe next year. It's something to work on
- 23:33Speaker 4: for the future. Yeah. Now and again, I know part
- 23:36Speaker 4: of the CVB there, the Convention Visitor Bureau in South Charleston.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Give us a little bit about some other things going on.
- 23:42Speaker 4: I'm going to give you the airtime while you're here.
- 23:43Speaker 1: What else is going on?
- 23:45Speaker 4: We just had Sean on the show actually, I think
- 23:47Speaker 4: it was last week talking about talking about the farmers market.
- 23:50Speaker 4: So what else is going on? In self?
- 23:52Speaker 12: So excited about the farmers market. We've got a lot
- 23:55Speaker 12: of visitation down there. It's so convenient for the people
- 23:58Speaker 12: who live in South Charleston. And you know, of course
- 24:01Speaker 12: South Charleston easy off the interstate to get there. But
- 24:05Speaker 12: also we'll have Summer Fest coming up in August. You know,
- 24:08Speaker 12: it's August, the week of August thirteenth, Wednesday through Saturday,
- 24:13Speaker 12: and again, like last year, we will have the we'll
- 24:18Speaker 12: have fireworks, but we'll also have a drone show, which
- 24:21Speaker 12: was wildly popular last year, so we'll have that again
- 24:24Speaker 12: this year. And there's two bands every evening, and so
- 24:28Speaker 12: the entertainment schedule will be going out soon.
- 24:30Speaker 11: We'll have posters out soon.
- 24:32Speaker 12: But you can't beat free entertainment for four nights every
- 24:35Speaker 12: evening and at the mound, it's wonderful.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Well, don't worry. Somebody will complain about free entertainment. That
- 24:41Speaker 4: don't get me started on that. Every year when we
- 24:43Speaker 4: released the information for Live on the Levee or we
- 24:45Speaker 4: release information for where God or whatever, people take to
- 24:48Speaker 4: social media to complain about it. And I'm like, it's free. Yeah,
- 24:51Speaker 4: you know, it's free. But I mean, here's the thing
- 24:55Speaker 4: about it here in the Kanaw Valley. And I say
- 24:57Speaker 4: this every Friday on the show. If you can't find
- 25:00Speaker 4: something to do, that's on you. There is every community
- 25:04Speaker 4: in the Canal Valley has something going on during the
- 25:07Speaker 4: warm weather months. I mean, like tomorrow, I'll give you
- 25:10Speaker 4: an example over in Elk City and I had those
- 25:13Speaker 4: folks on the show yesterday. They're having their block party
- 25:15Speaker 4: tomorrow starts, so I think it's going to be noon
- 25:17Speaker 4: to six. So you could go to South Charleston taking
- 25:20Speaker 4: the parade, then head over to Elk City. They've got bands,
- 25:23Speaker 4: they got food trucks and everything except obviously if you
- 25:26Speaker 4: want to buy the food, but all the entertainment is free, right,
- 25:29Speaker 4: something for the entire family.
- 25:31Speaker 12: And WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals said that they're going to
- 25:34Speaker 12: have food trucks tomorrow also, so you know, if you
- 25:37Speaker 12: if you don't want to go to Elk City, you
- 25:39Speaker 12: have South Charleston and then of course all the restaurants
- 25:42Speaker 12: we have in downtown South Charleston.
- 25:44Speaker 11: You know, there'll be a lot of opportunities there.
- 25:47Speaker 4: And your restaurant scene. You know, you got me as
- 25:49Speaker 4: soon as you started talking about restaurants, because that's kind
- 25:51Speaker 4: of my thing. You know, the in in South Charleston.
- 25:55Speaker 4: You've got some really good restaurants, we really do.
- 25:57Speaker 13: You know.
- 25:57Speaker 12: We have a lot of you know, mediterrane in Olive Tree,
- 26:01Speaker 12: and then a lot of Asian restaurants that are really good.
- 26:04Speaker 12: We have Yen's, which has been written up several times
- 26:08Speaker 12: and foven long and then of course Elephant Tie, the
- 26:12Speaker 12: newer restaurant that people are crazy about. And then there's
- 26:17Speaker 12: Happy Days if you want burger fries and hot dogs,
- 26:20Speaker 12: and there's Happy Days. So there's a lot of good
- 26:22Speaker 12: food in South Charleston, so come and come and enjoy it,
- 26:25Speaker 12: come visit us.
- 26:26Speaker 4: Yeah, and a lot of stuff at a lot of
- 26:28Speaker 4: great things going on in South Charleston. Of course you
- 26:31Speaker 4: got the new shopping complex. It's it's coming coming along exactly.
- 26:35Speaker 12: And then don't forget at the Label Theater on Friday
- 26:38Speaker 12: and Saturday evening they have free movies and and they're
- 26:42Speaker 12: mainly children's movies, so families can really afford to take.
- 26:46Speaker 11: The kids out.
- 26:47Speaker 12: All they have to do is buy some popcorn and
- 26:49Speaker 12: a drink and maybe some candy and enjoy a free movie.
- 26:52Speaker 4: So if somebody could take Ron Hughes, that's what you're saying, right,
- 26:55Speaker 4: have him enjoy the have enjoyed the film, all right, Vicky,
- 26:58Speaker 4: before we let you go, give us give us a
- 27:00Speaker 4: all the particulars again, the time and so on.
- 27:02Speaker 12: So the Pravee will start at twelve noon and it
- 27:05Speaker 12: begins at Second Avenue in D Street. It will turn
- 27:10Speaker 12: at the Mound, which is on Seventh Street, seventh Avenue,
- 27:14Speaker 12: and it will go down and end at East Street.
- 27:16Speaker 12: So it's very easy d Street, Seventh Avenue and.
- 27:19Speaker 4: End on the E and you're done there.
- 27:21Speaker 12: And lots of side parking lots on C Street and
- 27:24Speaker 12: East Street that you can that you can park and
- 27:27Speaker 12: then come find your spot, you know, bring your bag,
- 27:29Speaker 12: chair and come and enjoy the parade and honor our military.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Most of the that's what it's all about. We did
- 27:35Speaker 4: have a text here that somebody said a city wide
- 27:38Speaker 4: South Charleston yard sale would be a good idea. Oh,
- 27:40Speaker 4: that would be Yeah, there's a lot of those. I
- 27:42Speaker 4: mean last week we just had to be one hundred
- 27:44Speaker 4: yard sale with the East yard sales.
- 27:45Speaker 11: So that's a great idea.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Think work on that. Put Shan to work. Okay, we'll
- 27:49Speaker 4: make Sean do it. He's not here. He's not here,
- 27:52Speaker 4: so we'll put him.
- 27:52Speaker 11: In Sean, y'all. I'll let him know, right.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Vicky looking forward to it, As I said, I'll be
- 27:57Speaker 4: there representing w CCHS tomorrow and the I think the
- 28:00Speaker 4: beat in V one hundred and KWS we're all going
- 28:02Speaker 4: to be there as well. So we'll see you tomorrow
- 28:05Speaker 4: there for the parade. Thanks a lot, Thank you, but

- 31:31Speaker 4: Track of thirteen is here. Mister Hughes, good morning. How
- 31:34Speaker 4: are you well?
- 31:36Speaker 3: Being a little busy, but listen, we're raided rock and
- 31:39Speaker 3: roll and.
- 31:41Speaker 4: I want to tell you know, I just had Vicky
- 31:43Speaker 4: Vaughan from the City of South Charleston here in the
- 31:45Speaker 4: Charleston cv B about their parade tomorrow, the Armed Forces parade.
- 31:49Speaker 4: Now you guys are normally a part of that. I'm
- 31:50Speaker 4: going to be there tomorrow along with all the other
- 31:53Speaker 4: stations here in the building, and I told her not
- 31:55Speaker 4: to play it. Not that I'm Brian Hughes money stretching
- 31:57Speaker 4: the imagination, but I said, by the time that the
- 31:59Speaker 4: parade AID gets underway at noon tomorrow, other than just
- 32:02Speaker 4: and I learned this from watching your weather forecast this morning,
- 32:05Speaker 4: other than just a little wind, we should be okay tomorrow.
- 32:09Speaker 4: But it's getting there, Brian. That's going It's going to
- 32:12Speaker 4: be the difficult part.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Right It absolutely is going to be. And listen, it's
- 32:17Speaker 3: one of those days that listen. We've rebooted every camera,
- 32:21Speaker 3: we've rebooted every computer to make sure we're running tiptop
- 32:23Speaker 3: shape because it's going to be very active. Listen as
- 32:26Speaker 3: we go through the day today. You know, I'm watching
- 32:29Speaker 3: the radar right now, and we've got showers in the
- 32:30Speaker 3: storms that are off to the west of us that
- 32:33Speaker 3: we continue to monitor. There's some showers. There are cross
- 32:37Speaker 3: portions of southeast Kentucky rather preston Burg area some showers.
- 32:41Speaker 3: There's even some showers in Lincoln County right now. And
- 32:44Speaker 3: while these are all moving off to the east, what
- 32:47Speaker 3: we're really watching is going to be the thunderstorms that
- 32:51Speaker 3: develop as we go into the midday and afternoon hours,
- 32:54Speaker 3: and some of those will be strong too severe. We
- 32:57Speaker 3: are looking at gusty winds and frequent lightning, very heavy downpours,
- 33:02Speaker 3: and we can't rule out an isolated tornado. But as
- 33:05Speaker 3: we head into this evening, the early evening hours, we
- 33:09Speaker 3: are going to get a hair bit of a break,
- 33:11Speaker 3: and that break is going to be, you know, as
- 33:15Speaker 3: we have about the three to four hour break sometime
- 33:18Speaker 3: after about six or seven o'clock, and then we get
- 33:21Speaker 3: into the late night hours and anywhere between nine and eleven,
- 33:26Speaker 3: we've got a big line of storm that's going to
- 33:28Speaker 3: move through and we'll be able to see this listen.
- 33:30Speaker 3: It's going to be starting out there around Cincinnati, Louisville,
- 33:33Speaker 3: it'll move through Lexington. We're gonna have a good heads
- 33:35Speaker 3: up as to what damage it's doing power outages, and
- 33:40Speaker 3: there's a good chance at Spencer, myself, the whole team
- 33:43Speaker 3: that we might be on the air tonight nine o'clock
- 33:45Speaker 3: through maybe midnight watching this entire line of storms do
- 33:49Speaker 3: some damage, taking out some power lines, trees, things of
- 33:52Speaker 3: that nature. And so we'll look at the power outage
- 33:56Speaker 3: becoming an issue as we're going to the late night
- 33:58Speaker 3: in overnight hours. So one thing we say is be prepared.
- 34:02Speaker 3: Make sure you have everything charged ready to go to nine,
- 34:05Speaker 3: because if you do is power. I mean, you want
- 34:07Speaker 3: to be able to still call the other family, I member,
- 34:09Speaker 3: say you're okay, everything's fine, or checking in or neighbors
- 34:12Speaker 3: things like that. But if you do have a generator,
- 34:15Speaker 3: hopefully you can double check it and test it. This
- 34:17Speaker 3: s after in this evening before the storm move in.
- 34:19Speaker 3: So just be prepared because of the late night hours,
- 34:22Speaker 3: those wind speeds can be seventy five or higher.
- 34:25Speaker 4: I mean when you talk about having wind speeds Brian
- 34:28Speaker 4: of seventy five to eighty miles or even higher in
- 34:30Speaker 4: an area like this, We're just really not used to
- 34:33Speaker 4: that sort of thing.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Right, And you know, I've had more people are who
- 34:39Speaker 3: are concerned that this is you know, the ratio type stuff,
- 34:42Speaker 3: and you know, are we going to get close to it?
- 34:45Speaker 3: We might be flirting with stuff like that, But more
- 34:48Speaker 3: than anything, you know, this is going to be just
- 34:51Speaker 3: a storm system that is going to be stout. It's
- 34:53Speaker 3: going to be one of those that we go, well,
- 34:55Speaker 3: I'm going to remember that for a number of years.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Some people will some people are going to be, you know,
- 35:01Speaker 3: just dealing with some good old showers and storms, but
- 35:03Speaker 3: that line of wind is going to be concerning right
- 35:06Speaker 3: on the leading edge of it, and it might have
- 35:08Speaker 3: an isolated tornado or two as we head into the
- 35:10Speaker 3: nine time hours. So we're prepped, we've got extra staffing,
- 35:14Speaker 3: we're ready to go for the sevening end tonight.
- 35:16Speaker 4: I mean, it's going to be a serious situation. At
- 35:17Speaker 4: least it has the potential to be. We're talking to
- 35:19Speaker 4: media roligs Brian Huseman Storm Tracker thirteen and as you
- 35:22Speaker 4: well know, it's kind of a running joke between between
- 35:25Speaker 4: me and you and some other folks that everybody, when
- 35:27Speaker 4: you guys put up a post on social media, everybody says,
- 35:30Speaker 4: what's it going to be like? And they want to know,
- 35:32Speaker 4: in you know, my particular one mile radio, what time
- 35:35Speaker 4: is it going to hit you know this area or whatever,
- 35:38Speaker 4: And it's it's very difficult to pinpoint those things because
- 35:42Speaker 4: and I'll use a great example when what was a
- 35:45Speaker 4: month or so ago when we had that massive hailstorm.
- 35:47Speaker 4: I live in Tay's Valley. I was sending you guys
- 35:50Speaker 4: videos from my front porch. We still haven't recovered from
- 35:52Speaker 4: that or screens are still shattered. We're dealing with the
- 35:55Speaker 4: insurance company and stuff right now. Five miles down the
- 35:59Speaker 4: road they got basically nothing. So it's it's kind of
- 36:01Speaker 4: hard to pinpoint what's going to happen in a particular.
- 36:05Speaker 3: Area, right and that's and that's what we're looking at
- 36:08Speaker 3: for the storms as we go through the midday and
- 36:11Speaker 3: afternoon hours. Those are hard to pinpoint exactly where they're
- 36:14Speaker 3: going to occur. We know they're going to be around
- 36:15Speaker 3: I sixty four points south, but it's the nighttime storms.
- 36:19Speaker 3: We're fairly confident in what's going to happen as we
- 36:22Speaker 3: go into the late night hours, and that's going to
- 36:24Speaker 3: be that line. It's called a mesoscale convective system if
- 36:27Speaker 3: it if it is Durratio's style, that would be classified
- 36:30Speaker 3: essentially after we get done. So that's a post analysis
- 36:34Speaker 3: style event, where in the in the moment we might
- 36:37Speaker 3: say it could be similar to it, but you know,
- 36:39Speaker 3: that's how we determine it is after the event. But
- 36:42Speaker 3: we definitely are watching, you know that, because that's going
- 36:45Speaker 3: to be the main event. But the storms this afternoon
- 36:48Speaker 3: into the early evening hours, those are going to be
- 36:50Speaker 3: a little bit. They're going to test some people's patience
- 36:53Speaker 3: for sure.
- 36:53Speaker 4: Yeah, and and you mentioned about the DU ratio, and
- 36:56Speaker 4: I remember that well because I was in Logan at
- 36:59Speaker 4: the time and we went a week and a day.
- 37:01Speaker 4: I think it was a no power lost everything in
- 37:03Speaker 4: the refrigerator. And that's what people want to know, they say,
- 37:06Speaker 4: is this is going to be another do ratio. But
- 37:07Speaker 4: I think it's important that you pointed that out. That's
- 37:09Speaker 4: not something that you don't get that determination. They don't
- 37:12Speaker 4: do a D ratio watch, for example. You don't get
- 37:15Speaker 4: that until afterwards, right right.
- 37:18Speaker 3: And that's something you know, we many times can look
- 37:21Speaker 3: at it and go, okay, we know that they are
- 37:23Speaker 3: the parameters there for it. But this is one of
- 37:26Speaker 3: those things where you know it's going to be close,
- 37:29Speaker 3: but probably not at that because what you really need
- 37:32Speaker 3: for a duration, you need temperatures that are in the hundreds. Yeah,
- 37:35Speaker 3: typically upper nineties, one hundreds ahead of that to get
- 37:39Speaker 3: a good storm system. So this is what we call
- 37:41Speaker 3: mesoscale convective system. And it's going to give us a
- 37:46Speaker 3: run for our money this evening, for sure.
- 37:48Speaker 4: But Dave Allen showing five Indieline Bronch you apart by

- 38:01Speaker 4: let you go, Tex says, Does Brian happen to know
- 38:03Speaker 4: why it seems that ticks are so bad this early
- 38:07Speaker 4: in the year. I've pulled two off already.
- 38:09Speaker 5: Uh.
- 38:10Speaker 4: Put away your meteorology uh degree, and let's go to techology.
- 38:13Speaker 4: What do you know about ticks, mister Hughes.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Well, the thing that we had last year was we
- 38:18Speaker 3: were actually looking at you know, we had a dryer
- 38:22Speaker 3: winter versus you know, and then we had spring became
- 38:26Speaker 3: fairly wet.
- 38:27Speaker 4: So uh but spring was wet more in.
- 38:29Speaker 3: The month of May than it was anytime before that,
- 38:32Speaker 3: So you had you didn't have the moisture essentially, where
- 38:35Speaker 3: these those ticks can bury in and and uh bury
- 38:38Speaker 3: in the ground, burying, you know, in the plants and
- 38:41Speaker 3: survive a little bit better. I mean, listen, I picked
- 38:44Speaker 3: three of them off of my little dog as well,
- 38:46Speaker 3: so she's she doesn't like it when I grab a
- 38:48Speaker 3: hold every now, Mike, let's check. But this year we've
- 38:52Speaker 3: been fairly wet, and we all said a wet winter.
- 38:55Speaker 3: While we did get very cold for a while, it's
- 38:57Speaker 3: not like that's going to kill anything all particularly, but
- 39:00Speaker 3: we've had a lot of moisture to deal with, and
- 39:02Speaker 3: they thrive when it's a wetter winter going into a
- 39:05Speaker 3: relatively wet spring.
- 39:07Speaker 4: All right, before we let you go, let's set the
- 39:09Speaker 4: timeline again, because I know about it. When I came
- 39:11Speaker 4: into work, it was humid this morning, about seven point
- 39:14Speaker 4: thirty and it looked like into one of my coworkers
- 39:17Speaker 4: kids said minutes skin, look as you were in to
- 39:18Speaker 4: store my kech here where I am in the building,
- 39:20Speaker 4: I don't have a window, so I don't know whether
- 39:22Speaker 4: it did or not. But let's kind of set the
- 39:25Speaker 4: timeline for the Greater Kanau Valley for the rest of
- 39:29Speaker 4: the day and into tonight.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Thunderstorms are possible as we go through the midday into
- 39:35Speaker 3: the early afternoon and late afternoon hours, and those will
- 39:38Speaker 3: be isolated thunderstorms. One or two clusters could pass through,
- 39:43Speaker 3: and those are the threats of severe thunderstorm winds as
- 39:46Speaker 3: well as hail and also isolated tornadoes. Still you can
- 39:50Speaker 3: get some heavy rainfall with that. But as we head
- 39:53Speaker 3: into the late night hours for the Canal Valley, we're
- 39:55Speaker 3: expecting sometime after nine closer to eleven o'clock, anywhere between
- 40:01Speaker 3: ten and night, but more closer to eleven o'clock. We
- 40:03Speaker 3: have a line of thunderstorms that'll move through and those
- 40:05Speaker 3: will have significant wins Kible being seventy five or higher,
- 40:09Speaker 3: Cable being higher than seventy five, and also an isolated
- 40:13Speaker 3: tornado threats. After the wind dies, often we're going to
- 40:16Speaker 3: have that heavy rain that sticks with us for a while,
- 40:18Speaker 3: and our flood threat goes up at that point, so
- 40:22Speaker 3: we could have some flash flood warnings immediately following that,
- 40:24Speaker 3: and we do have a floodwatch that has already been
- 40:26Speaker 3: issued for our area.
- 40:28Speaker 4: It's going to be a rough twenty four hours. We'll
- 40:29Speaker 4: get through it. O Brian, I appreciate you and a
- 40:31Speaker 4: good opportunity to remind folks if you don't have that
- 40:34Speaker 4: storm Tracker thirteen app make sure you do, and I

- 41:14Speaker 4: and there will be delays and changes in your routine
- 41:17Speaker 4: if you're navigating Charleston streets and neighborhoods. Now, the City
- 41:21Speaker 4: of Charleston is doing a great job of giving out
- 41:24Speaker 4: all the details way ahead of time. You can get
- 41:27Speaker 4: it on their website, you can go to their social media.
- 41:29Speaker 4: They've got it all lined out for you. It's you know,
- 41:35Speaker 4: if you're navigating the city, the residential neighborhood's downtown, you
- 41:38Speaker 4: know there's a little bit of a delay here and there.
- 41:40Speaker 4: But for all these people that are coming into Charleston
- 41:42Speaker 4: and all the money that they're spending. I mean, as
- 41:45Speaker 4: I was talking to Tim Brady earlier, I said, you know,
- 41:47Speaker 4: the city of Charleston basically triples its population over the
- 41:50Speaker 4: next week. He said that was a little bit of
- 41:51Speaker 4: an exaggeration. I'll say it doubles. How's that. So just
- 41:55Speaker 4: as they say no, before you go, there's plenty of
- 41:57Speaker 4: information out there that'll tell you whin streets are going
- 42:00Speaker 4: to be closed, what areas to avoid, and on what days.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Because it's a rolling thing, so it's not always going

- 46:09Speaker 4: of twenty twenty five. He're not going to want to
- 46:12Speaker 4: miss that, or maybe you do. But Dave Allen Show
- 46:14Speaker 4: in five eighty Live is brought to you apart by
- 46:16Speaker 4: Jute's Joot Security Systems as protected by jute dot Com
- 46:20Speaker 4: and check them out on Facebook. A couple of things
- 46:22Speaker 4: in the news I wanted to mention Morgan Pemberton with
- 46:25Speaker 4: the story this morning wv Metronews dot com. The Canal
- 46:29Speaker 4: Charleston Board of Health has voted down emotion to amend
- 46:33Speaker 4: the Clean Indoor Air regulation rules that would have allowed
- 46:37Speaker 4: Marty Gros Casino and Resort to have designated areas for
- 46:41Speaker 4: smoking now. The president of the Board, Jeremy Nelson, said,
- 46:45Speaker 4: most of the comments that the board received during the
- 46:47Speaker 4: public comment period were unfavorable toward allowing smoking there, and
- 46:52Speaker 4: the folks at the casino, many of them have thought, well,
- 46:54Speaker 4: if we have a designated smoking area, we're going to
- 46:56Speaker 4: get more people in here, and can they let the
- 47:00Speaker 4: public comment on it? And the public basically said no,
- 47:03Speaker 4: and so ultimately the board had the ultimate decision, and
- 47:07Speaker 4: so it's an og. The amendment in front of the
- 47:09Speaker 4: board was voted down four to two and again Morgan
- 47:11Speaker 4: Pemberton has the story posted about it. Over it to
- 47:14Speaker 4: wv metronews dot com. Also the vaccination issue for school
- 47:17Speaker 4: kids in light of what the law says versus what
- 47:22Speaker 4: the governor's executive order says. Last night, the Kenaw County
- 47:25Speaker 4: Board of Education said they want to move forward with
- 47:28Speaker 4: legal help in determining exactly what to do now. You'll
- 47:32Speaker 4: recall state law currently doesn't allow for religious exemptions to
- 47:36Speaker 4: the vaccine mandate, and the legislature rejected a proposed bill
- 47:41Speaker 4: that would have changed state code the governor has made
- 47:45Speaker 4: it clear following his executive order, which he issued the
- 47:48Speaker 4: executive order prior to the session. The Governor again, Chief
- 47:52Speaker 4: Plug will be on Metro News midday to day. The
- 47:54Speaker 4: Governor has made it plain that he wants folks to
- 47:57Speaker 4: follow the executive order. Well, we'll see, because now county
- 48:03Speaker 4: school systems started to ask questions about that. Ohio County
- 48:06Speaker 4: was the first one that came out and said, look,
- 48:07Speaker 4: we got to get legal clarification on this. Now it
- 48:10Speaker 4: looks like, following what I what I read as part
- 48:13Speaker 4: of Aaron's story wv Metro News dot com, that the
- 48:17Speaker 4: Canawha County Board of Education is going to do the
- 48:19Speaker 4: same thing. Uh, as far as having you know, at
- 48:22Speaker 4: least some legal clarity, because you got these you have
- 48:25Speaker 4: these two sides. You know, you don't you don't know,
- 48:31Speaker 4: I mean, do you follow the law? Do you follow
- 48:32Speaker 4: what the governor says? The governor says what he says
- 48:34Speaker 4: in the executive order, Trump's law of the legislature voted
- 48:37Speaker 4: in a different way. So uh, again, all it kind
- 48:40Speaker 4: of leaves these school systems, uh and bit of a
- 48:43Speaker 4: holding pattern here. So that's why many of them are
- 48:46Speaker 4: going to do this. So far, Ohio and Canaha Counties
- 48:49Speaker 4: have done that. Said, look, we got to you gotta
- 48:51Speaker 4: have some some legal standing here, and so again. Go
- 48:55Speaker 4: over to read Aaron Parker's story about it at WV
- 48:58Speaker 4: Metro News dot com. Textays, Hey, Dave, please clarify what
- 49:00Speaker 4: and when streets will be closed for bikes. If I
- 49:03Speaker 4: did that, it would probably take up well into TJ
- 49:07Speaker 4: and Dave's spots on talk line. So the best thing
- 49:11Speaker 4: I could tell you to do. The City of Charleston
- 49:13Speaker 4: has done a fantastic job of spelling it all out.
- 49:16Speaker 4: If you're a Facebook person, go over to the City
- 49:19Speaker 4: of Charleston's Facebook page. They've got everything. They're doing updates
- 49:22Speaker 4: like a couple times a day to let people know
- 49:24Speaker 4: what they need to know. I could. I could read
- 49:26Speaker 4: the entire list here for you, but if I do,
- 49:28Speaker 4: it's just going to confuse you simply because there's so
- 49:31Speaker 4: many You can see it for yourself. Go over. Do
- 49:34Speaker 4: what Grandpa here does. Go to the page and screenshot it.
- 49:36Speaker 4: That's what I do, and that way I can easily
- 49:38Speaker 4: pull it up on my phone. But go check out
- 49:40Speaker 4: their Facebook page. I'm sure it's available on their website.
- 49:42Speaker 4: As well, and again on Monday, we're going to pretty
- 49:44Speaker 4: much devote the entire show to the biking events. I
- 49:47Speaker 4: don't know exactly who's going to be here. I'm working
- 49:49Speaker 4: with the City of Charleston on that. I'm going to
- 49:50Speaker 4: say probably the mayor and others. Tim Brady, possibly from
- 49:54Speaker 4: the CVB, and maybe even some of the bikers will
- 49:56Speaker 4: be here on the show as well. It's coming up
- 49:58Speaker 4: on Monday. TJ. Meadows is here. How you doing, man,
- 50:01Speaker 4: good buddy? How are you you are really? Buddy? Taking
- 50:05Speaker 4: this Friday golf shirt? What did you call it? It's
- 50:09Speaker 4: fun golf shirt Friday? And to another level. I mean,
- 50:14Speaker 4: I don't really know what to think about that. I
- 50:17Speaker 4: wasn't a kid of the sixties, but I would think
- 50:20Speaker 4: that if I saw that, I would have thought I'd
- 50:22Speaker 4: dropped acid. And I've never dropped acid in my life.
- 50:25Speaker 4: But I'm just saying, now I drop now, I drop
- 50:28Speaker 4: an acid. That's what I dropped now. But uh, that's
- 50:31Speaker 4: a that's that's that's an interesting I'm not hating on it, brother,
- 50:34Speaker 4: I'm just saying it's different. So all you got to
- 50:36Speaker 4: do is were golf shirts.
- 50:37Speaker 13: I have a few, and if I'm going to keep
- 50:40Speaker 13: this up. Maybe I'll get a few more. I let
- 50:41Speaker 13: my daughters pick them out. It's part of the persona.
- 50:45Speaker 14: You know.
- 50:45Speaker 4: They come rocking the sunglasses this morning too. Have you
- 50:49Speaker 4: have you looked outside?
- 50:50Speaker 3: Well?
- 50:50Speaker 4: These are prescription if that tells you anything. And I
- 50:53Speaker 4: had a pair of prescription sunglasses and one day my
- 50:55Speaker 4: prescription ran out. It was it was horrible. Yeah, bumping
- 50:57Speaker 4: into snunt. Nobody's ever laughed at that joke in history,
- 51:00Speaker 4: but I keep trying. That's my dad's joke. You know,
- 51:03Speaker 4: you talk about dad joke, that really is your dad's show.
- 51:05Speaker 4: That really one of my dad's jokes. I'm really upset
- 51:08Speaker 4: that you and I are not over at Sleepy Hollow
- 51:10Speaker 4: right now because Steve Animal from her sister station ninety
- 51:12Speaker 4: eight seven A mouth and over there broadcasting live from
- 51:15Speaker 4: the golf tournament for the Dumont to Try County YMCA,
- 51:18Speaker 4: You and I show. I was there last year, but
- 51:20Speaker 4: then they gave me another job in the afternoon, so
- 51:22Speaker 4: I can't do that anymore.
- 51:23Speaker 13: You wouldn't get anything out of me. I'd be trying to,
- 51:25Speaker 13: you know, play in the range, and you know it
- 51:28Speaker 13: happens to be a club.
- 51:29Speaker 4: I'm a quite a bit. All right, let's talk about
- 51:31Speaker 4: to play. Let's talk about the show. What do you
- 51:32Speaker 4: got today?
- 51:33Speaker 3: Man?
- 51:33Speaker 13: So coming up at ten oh six, we're going to
- 51:35Speaker 13: talk with doctor Matthew Christiansen.
- 51:37Speaker 4: Uh.
- 51:38Speaker 13: He appeared in an article quoted in the New York
- 51:40Speaker 13: Times yesterday prescription drug deaths. Drug deaths overall are down,
- 51:45Speaker 13: and that includes here in West Virginia. So we're going
- 51:48Speaker 13: to dive into that, understand what's working, and talk about
- 51:52Speaker 13: the points that he raised in that article. He's got
- 51:54Speaker 13: very salient points about this issue, and one of them
- 51:57Speaker 13: is some of the money may be running out, all
- 51:59Speaker 13: right with a budget cuts. So special guest at ten forty.
- 52:02Speaker 13: That's all I can tell you right now. You do
- 52:03Speaker 13: not want to miss this show at ten forty.
- 52:06Speaker 4: Well, if it's who I think it is, we've already
- 52:08Speaker 4: talked about it. We have. You broke the news, broke
- 52:12Speaker 4: the news yesterday that Marty Brandan was gonna be on
- 52:14Speaker 4: the show today. Sorry you didn't tell me. I couldn't.
- 52:17Speaker 4: Matter of fact, I got it.
- 52:18Speaker 7: We didn't even break the news on earl.
- 52:20Speaker 4: A matter of fact, I got a text here somebody say,
- 52:22Speaker 4: what time is Marty? Brendaman gonna be on the show today.
- 52:24Speaker 4: Sorry you didn't tell me I couldn't. You're all right,
- 52:27Speaker 4: Marty Brenneman coming up a ten forty. I'm talking. Hey, everybody,
- 52:31Speaker 4: be safe out there with all this wicked weather coming in.
- 52:33Speaker 4: Amanda Baron and I coming up at noontime today with
