- 0:00Speaker 1: I got this text message on Monday. It said, Hi, Bill,
- 0:06Speaker 1: this is Phil Yawn. We spoke a couple of years
- 0:10Speaker 1: ago about my son Nolan. Now when I talk about this,
- 0:14Speaker 1: you guys will start to remember.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Okay, who was.
- 0:18Speaker 1: The kid that had collected items from his classmates for
- 0:21Speaker 1: the road home. I believe he was in the third
- 0:25Speaker 1: grade and they came down. He and his dad came
- 0:27Speaker 1: down to the road home broadcast a couple of years ago.
- 0:32Speaker 1: This year, he's come up with something big. He's got
- 0:35Speaker 1: big ideas. This is his last year in elementary school.
- 0:38Speaker 1: If you're interested or have time, if you'd like to
- 0:41Speaker 1: hear his ideas, please feel free to reach out. Either way,
- 0:44Speaker 1: we plan on being there at the road home, so
- 0:46Speaker 1: hopefully we can say hi. Nolan talks about this all year,
- 0:51Speaker 1: so I appreciate the time that you continue to give him,
- 0:55Speaker 1: even through the chaos of the event. Well, I called
- 0:58Speaker 1: Phil and I spoke to him on the phone, and
- 1:00Speaker 1: I talked to Nolan, and what Nolan has done is remarkable.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So this is from Phil's Facebook post about the whole thing.
- 1:13Speaker 1: My son Nolan is seeking your help Facebook friends. For
- 1:16Speaker 1: as long as I can remember, he's always loved helping
- 1:18Speaker 1: the homeless, especially homeless children. Starting in third grade, we
- 1:22Speaker 1: decided to participate in the Road Home Media thon on
- 1:25Speaker 1: his own. He collected donations from his classmates, gathering items
- 1:28Speaker 1: like string cheese you remember this, yeah, yeah, half filled
- 1:33Speaker 1: water bottles, coloring books and more. He was so proud
- 1:36Speaker 1: to make a difference and he gained a lot of
- 1:38Speaker 1: attention at the event. This led to a relationship with
- 1:41Speaker 1: the X ninety six Morning Show, and since then it's
- 1:44Speaker 1: become our tradition. Now I've tried not to interfere with
- 1:47Speaker 1: his project, but this year he asked me for my
- 1:50Speaker 1: help because he wants to go big. When I asked
- 1:55Speaker 1: him what he meant by go big, he decided he
- 1:58Speaker 1: would like to fill a U haul truck with donations.
- 2:01Speaker 1: He had already secured a U haul truck. This is
- 2:05Speaker 1: an elementary school. That kid, yeah, that was generously donated
- 2:09Speaker 1: to him. So he got you haul. This kid was
- 2:12Speaker 1: he in the sixth grade. He got you haul to
- 2:14Speaker 1: donate a truck that was and now we just need
- 2:18Speaker 1: to fill it. If you have any items that you
- 2:20Speaker 1: would like to donate, please reach out to me so
- 2:22Speaker 1: that we can fill this truck. We plan on complete
- 2:25Speaker 1: filling it on the night of December seventeenth, as we
- 2:28Speaker 1: want to deliver everything on the morning of the eighteenth
- 2:30Speaker 1: at the road home. As a side note, Nolan is
