- 0:00Speaker 1: A lot of complaints from fans yesterday just due to
- 0:04Speaker 1: the fact that there were barely any games last night.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I know, I'm aware they mostly left Monday open for
- 0:11Speaker 1: potential rain out situations to reschedule them for last night
- 0:16Speaker 1: because aja they had to do that last year when
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Mets and Braves had Oh wait, they didn't do
- 0:22Speaker 1: that last year. Remember they could have done it earlier
- 0:27Speaker 1: in the week and they didn't.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but here's the thing. They're going to give them
- 0:29Speaker 2: Monday or Thursday off. Would you rather have Monday off
- 0:31Speaker 2: or Thursday off for most teams?
- 0:33Speaker 1: You tell me, if you were playing, what would you want.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I mean, it doesn't matter to me, But I mean,
- 0:37Speaker 2: either way, you're going to complain about Monday or Thursday.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Even also, they went with Monday. That was the last
- 0:41Speaker 2: six games are protected.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And you can't really split it, right, because then you'd
- 0:47Speaker 1: create problems if you're trying to do a rain makeup
- 0:51Speaker 1: where both teams are going somewhere. Right, I mean, there
- 0:54Speaker 1: weren't no games, there were still six teams that could
- 0:57Speaker 1: have been in trouble. Right, For example, if the Raves
- 1:01Speaker 1: needed to make up a game in Atlanta because they
- 1:04Speaker 1: were in a Pennant Race and there was some rain
- 1:06Speaker 1: out situation. Let's say they had to play the Mets.
- 1:08Speaker 1: AJ wouldn't have happened. They had a game yesterday, So.
- 1:12Speaker 2: That's applied to some chance. They took a chance and
- 1:16Speaker 2: they worked out.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It just kind of sucks when it's the last week
- 1:20Speaker 1: of the season and it's so so light. I just
- 1:23Speaker 1: wish there was a different way. That's all just a
- 1:25Speaker 1: friendly complain.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Everyone wanted more off days, they got more off days,
- 1:28Speaker 2: and now they complain about the off days.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Well, who wants more off days?
- 1:31Speaker 3: The players, players, right.
- 1:34Speaker 1: The fans don't want more off days. They want less
- 1:36Speaker 1: off days. They want games every day.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yes, yes they do, especially this time of year. Everybody's
- 1:43Speaker 3: like there's no game one I want to see a
- 1:46Speaker 3: game exactly.
- 1:48Speaker 1: It's last week of the season. I mean, we have
- 1:50Speaker 1: some playoff worthy matchups that are starting tonight. Before we
- 1:54Speaker 1: get to that. Just a shout out to people like
- 1:58Speaker 1: Sammy Michael John all recent foul territoryshop dot com purchasers.
- 2:05Speaker 1: You can get a lovely collared shirt like Kratz is rocking.
- 2:09Speaker 1: The original ft T shirt is still there for you,
- 2:13Speaker 1: which I am wearing today. Every team show has a
- 2:16Speaker 1: store as well, so you can check that out. And
- 2:19Speaker 1: the variety is extensive compared to what it was four
- 2:24Speaker 1: six months ago, so go check it out. There are
- 2:27Speaker 1: things that you never even maybe dreamed of, and all
- 2:31Speaker 1: of a sudden you can get them. So Foul Territory
- 2:33Speaker 1: Shop dot com appreciate the notes too. You can send
- 2:35Speaker 1: a note when you buy an item. We've had some
- 2:38Speaker 1: really nice notes come our way, you know, the I
- 2:41Speaker 1: watch all the time, keep the show run and keep
- 2:44Speaker 1: up the good work kind of stuff coming in, so
- 2:46Speaker 1: we appreciate that from everyone. I had one saved, but
- 2:50Speaker 1: I have way too many notes from today so I
- 2:51Speaker 1: can't find it. But thank you to everyone that's been
- 2:54Speaker 1: hitting upfowl Territory shop dot com. A lot of work
- 2:57Speaker 1: behind the scenes was put together. Oh John John said,
- 2:59Speaker 1: you guys, keep up at work. I bought a lightweight hooddie.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Thank you, and now let's talk ball.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Charge about.
- 3:11Speaker 1: That was fun. We did actually have a really good
- 3:14Speaker 1: game last night AJ the Padres with a walkoff win
- 3:17Speaker 1: in the bottom of the eleventh. Being that the other
- 3:20Speaker 1: two games didn't matter, I mostly just watched this one
- 3:24Speaker 1: and it was great. The Padres like to keep things
- 3:26Speaker 1: exciting for their fans this year, and they do so,
- 3:29Speaker 1: even down to the buzzer of when they clinched this
- 3:32Speaker 1: scenario against a Brewers team that was putting up a fight.
- 3:35Speaker 1: So what do you think about the Padres making it
- 3:38Speaker 1: to the postseason for the fourth time in the past
- 3:40Speaker 1: six years after not being that kind of team for
- 3:43Speaker 1: a long period of time.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Good for them. Listen, this is a team that has
- 3:47Speaker 2: been there. They've done it. They know how they win
- 3:48Speaker 2: in the postseason. They've made their run. They haven't gotten
- 3:51Speaker 2: to the final hurdle. They haven't been in the World
- 3:53Speaker 2: Series in a while, but they made some runs. They've
- 3:55Speaker 2: beaten They beat the Dodgers not long ago. So this
- 3:58Speaker 2: is a team that can make a run. If Pavetta pitches,
- 4:02Speaker 2: well you Darvis pitch as well, Dylan Seize figures it
- 4:04Speaker 2: out in the postseason, and we all know about their
- 4:06Speaker 2: stack bullpen. So congratulations to the Padres and Mike Shild
- 4:10Speaker 2: and aj Preller and everyone out there, because they do
- 4:13Speaker 2: have some of the best fans in the game. They
- 4:14Speaker 2: show up every game and it was an awesome scene
- 4:17Speaker 2: last night, So good for them. Now let's see if
- 4:19Speaker 2: they can do some with it. Because they're more than
- 4:20Speaker 2: likely going to have to travel to Wrigley Field. It's
- 4:22Speaker 2: gonna be a little chilly there. Can they win two
- 4:24Speaker 2: out of three against the Cubs and then go play
- 4:27Speaker 2: possibly the Brewers.
- 4:31Speaker 3: It's good, good playoff matchup. I mean, I think they're
- 4:33Speaker 3: better than the Cubs. Can they score enough runs? Can
- 4:37Speaker 3: the Cubs score enough runs? You know, last night they
- 4:41Speaker 3: got a home run from Jose Galasias. I don't think
- 4:44Speaker 3: you're gonna be seeing a lot of homers in the
- 4:46Speaker 3: playoffs from Jose Galasias. But they are a team that
- 4:50Speaker 3: needs to scrap and claw. They're not going to strike
- 4:53Speaker 3: out that much. Freddy Peralta didn't have any strikeouts. He
- 4:55Speaker 3: was only going like seventy five pitches. So to me,
- 5:00Speaker 3: I think it's something that if Pavetta gives you five
- 5:04Speaker 3: in Game one, which Mike Schiltz said most likely he's
- 5:07Speaker 3: lining up for Game one, I think they I think
- 5:10Speaker 3: they end up taking the series. If they can't. If
- 5:13Speaker 3: your starter can't get you deep enough, they're gonna have
- 5:16Speaker 3: a tough time scoring enough runs. Just they have to
- 5:20Speaker 3: score more runs.
- 5:23Speaker 1: How about on the road, So aj the Padres are
- 5:26Speaker 1: forty eight and twenty eight at home. They had their
- 5:29Speaker 1: sixty seventh sellout last night. It's playoff vibes every night there.
- 5:33Speaker 1: They're thirty eight and forty three away from home. The
- 5:36Speaker 1: Cubs are forty six and twenty nine at home, forty
- 5:38Speaker 1: two and thirty nine on the road. These two teams
- 5:41Speaker 1: are likely to match up in the Wildcard round, like
- 5:44Speaker 1: you mentioned, and guess where all two or three of
- 5:47Speaker 1: the games are going to be played.
- 5:49Speaker 2: They're gonna be in really yeah, So listen, it could
- 5:53Speaker 2: be an advantage for the Padres. Actually, if the wind's
- 5:55Speaker 2: blowing in and the Cubs, who are built more on power,
- 5:57Speaker 2: they can't hit their home runs. The Padres has done
- 6:00Speaker 2: with less power the entire year, so maybe it's in
- 6:01Speaker 2: advantage for him. It's gonna be chilly more than likely
- 6:04Speaker 2: in Chicago, we'll see, I mean, listen. Homefield advantage means
- 6:08Speaker 2: almost nothing sometimes in the postseason. Sometimes it means a lot.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Sometimes it doesn't. Was the twenty nineteen World Series where
- 6:14Speaker 2: the road team won every game, so and then you
- 6:16Speaker 2: could go back some years in eighty seven to ninety
- 6:18Speaker 2: one where the Twins won all their home games in
- 6:21Speaker 2: the postseason and one World Series. So sometimes it means some,
- 6:24Speaker 2: sometimes it doesn't.
- 6:25Speaker 3: I know this.
- 6:26Speaker 2: I like to be in the road team a lot
- 6:27Speaker 2: of times because if you score early, it puts so
- 6:29Speaker 2: much pressure on the home team.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Ft fam, it's still time for you to check out
- 6:35Speaker 1: what bathing suit you're wearing and why it's not Fair Harbor.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Can we get a little show and tell from aeric
- 6:40Speaker 1: krats nice?
- 6:44Speaker 3: I mean, unfortunately you can't even see all the little intricacies.
- 6:47Speaker 3: We got sharks, we got patterns, we got waves, we
- 6:50Speaker 3: got sailboats. Oh, and they feel super buttery on your skin.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Can you show us to the liner so people can
- 6:59Speaker 1: understan and how it's different, because I've actually been talking
- 7:02Speaker 1: it up. I was different vacation.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I got the Unique Liner two, I got the I
- 7:07Speaker 3: got the baby Blue John something about it. I don't
- 7:10Speaker 3: know it like it pops.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Head to Fairharbor Clothing dot com slash foul twenty and
- 7:15Speaker 1: use code foul twenty foul two zero for twenty percent
- 7:19Speaker 1: off your order. Once again, that's fair h A R.
- 7:22Speaker 1: B O R Clothing dot com backslash foul twenty for
- 7:25Speaker 1: twenty percent off. Make sure you use that promo code
- 7:28Speaker 1: foul twenty so they know ft sent you and hey,
- 7:32Speaker 1: you got to jump this team early because most likely
- 7:36Speaker 1: you're going to get the fearsome. Forsome used to be
- 7:38Speaker 1: five now four that are going to get rolled out
- 7:42Speaker 1: right Morey Holan's been sick this year and the least
- 7:45Speaker 1: talked about of the group. Estrada's in there. And then
- 7:49Speaker 1: of course you've got the new edition Mason Miller and
- 7:52Speaker 1: Robert Suarez to lock things down. Kratz. That's as good
- 7:55Speaker 1: as it gets bullpen wise. If they're going to win games.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I mean, they might win some lower scoring games, and
- 7:59Speaker 1: they're capable of doing that if the starters can get
- 8:01Speaker 1: them through a little bit early on. It was cool
- 8:03Speaker 1: also that the walk off hit yesterday occurs from one
- 8:06Speaker 1: of their trade deadline pickups and Freddy for me and
- 8:09Speaker 1: I watched a good chunk of the celebration. Couple things
- 8:12Speaker 1: that stood out. One Manny Machado's shirtless running with different alcohol.
- 8:18Speaker 1: He was passed around tequila. I was like, I don't
- 8:20Speaker 1: know if the sponsors are gonna like that. I saw
- 8:23Speaker 1: a lot of tequila, certain tequila.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Brand getting probably doesn't. Oh, he definitely doesn'tee with a
- 8:28Speaker 3: unique bottle. I would forget what my kind's called but.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Class a a zool. Yeah, I don't think they're a sponsor.
- 8:36Speaker 1: And if Manny got a call, he'd be like, cool,
- 8:39Speaker 1: I've given you fifteen years my career. I don't give
- 8:42Speaker 1: a crap. And also they were yelling for aj Preller,
- 8:48Speaker 1: you know, because think about it, there's so many players
- 8:50Speaker 1: on that team that wouldn't be there if aj Preller
- 8:53Speaker 1: weren't a psychopath at the trade deadline and loves to
- 8:55Speaker 1: make deals like that, all.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Right, but he made deals for guys who have who have?
- 9:03Speaker 3: Who have? You know, they're they're controllable. It's not like
- 9:07Speaker 3: like everybody's gonna look at this lineup and they're gonna
- 9:09Speaker 3: say wow, you know, look at all the money and
- 9:10Speaker 3: they spend on their lineup in free agency trade deadline,
- 9:14Speaker 3: you're talking about being a psycho. At the trade deadline,
- 9:16Speaker 3: most fans are like, we gotta go get the best
- 9:19Speaker 3: available free agent, whoever, whoever that is, you know, whoever's
- 9:22Speaker 3: gonna become a free agent. Look at this list. Mason
- 9:26Speaker 3: Miller controllable for three years. JP Sears still has control.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Ryan O'Hearn is going to be a free agent. Uh
- 9:33Speaker 3: Leriano has been one of the best pickups of all
- 9:35Speaker 3: these guys, Nestor Cortez. I think it's a free agent
- 9:39Speaker 3: unless he has one more year for me, and I
- 9:42Speaker 3: think it's for four or five more years. And I'm
- 9:44Speaker 3: not sure about Will Wagner. Like they like teams that
- 9:47Speaker 3: are like, hey, we'll just get a bunch of guys.
- 9:49Speaker 3: They got a bunch of guys, but they got a
- 9:51Speaker 3: bunch of good players too, and just decimated their farm
- 9:54Speaker 3: system to do exactly what they did last night, pop bottles.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Yeah, Loriano's a free agent the end of the year.
- 10:00Speaker 1: No, he's got one more Oh he does, he's got
- 10:02Speaker 1: an option. Yeah, and I think they're gonna pick it up.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Okay, well then, but uh, their closer is a free
- 10:08Speaker 2: agent at the end.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Of the year.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yeah, he's gonna opt out.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Suarez is gonna be more likely gone. That's why they
- 10:12Speaker 2: went out and got Mason Miller. Dylan Seize is a
- 10:15Speaker 2: free agent at the end of the year. So Michael
- 10:17Speaker 2: King is a free agent at the end of the year.
- 10:19Speaker 2: So they have they have a lot of holes they
- 10:21Speaker 2: still have to fill. Yeah, they did a nice job
- 10:22Speaker 2: of the trade deadline, but they went and got Mason
- 10:24Speaker 2: Miller in case, he either starts or can close for
- 10:27Speaker 2: him next year. JP Series is an option for him
- 10:29Speaker 2: next year. Nestor's gone, Loreano's I don't know what they'll
- 10:33Speaker 2: do with him, or Hearn's probably gone. So they do
- 10:35Speaker 2: have some holes they have to fill. That's that's why
- 10:38Speaker 2: the trade Dylan was important. He went out and got controllable. Yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 2: they gave up a lot, but they're trying to set
- 10:43Speaker 2: this up for the long term. This is the best
- 10:44Speaker 2: run in Padre's history.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yeahlexwirez is a good example. His contract is unique. He
- 10:50Speaker 1: can opt out or take eight million dollars for twenty
- 10:53Speaker 1: six and eight million for twenty seven, so either option
- 10:56Speaker 1: for two sixteen or opts out. He's obviously opting out
- 10:59Speaker 1: from that. So they're well aware they're stacked with bullpen arms.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I mean, this was five with Jason Adam, who I
- 11:05Speaker 1: think is still under control for maybe one or two
- 11:08Speaker 1: more seasons, although I don't know what his timetable is.
- 11:10Speaker 1: But anyway, it's a special group. It was a really
- 11:14Speaker 1: special trade deadline, and for some teams the trade deadline
- 11:17Speaker 1: did not work out. I think it's safe to save
- 11:19Speaker 1: for the Padres, the trade deadline did work out. So
- 11:22Speaker 1: we'll see what happens with them. Let's talk Braves for
- 11:24Speaker 1: two minutes. They had a game yesterday. Osi Albees fractured
- 11:27Speaker 1: his left hamlet bone. That is not good. He fractured
- 11:30Speaker 1: that left wrist in twenty twenty four and then some
- 11:34Speaker 1: people think that's why he had a really really slow start.
- 11:37Speaker 1: So now again he's going to be coming off a
- 11:39Speaker 1: major injury for twenty twenty six. And this is why.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I mean, the team didn't say this even before the injury,
- 11:46Speaker 1: but you don't talk about an option until you get
- 11:49Speaker 1: to the offseason. So there is a chance that the
- 11:53Speaker 1: Braves move on. I doubt it, given how much of
- 11:56Speaker 1: a bargain he's been. I think there's multiple years left,
- 11:58Speaker 1: but that sucks. Speak of the year. It's like garbage time.
- 12:01Speaker 1: And I mean, I think he would be back for
- 12:04Speaker 1: spring training.
- 12:05Speaker 2: But it's a tough It's a month. It's a month
- 12:07Speaker 2: I had this. It's a month like this is not
- 12:10Speaker 2: a major injury, yep, this is I have the scar
- 12:12Speaker 2: I had it happen. It's a month. You're you can
- 12:14Speaker 2: be back in less than that, but why rush it.
- 12:17Speaker 2: It's a month to six weeks of just you really
- 12:19Speaker 2: do nothing. They cut it out and then it's just
- 12:22Speaker 2: healing the scar and there's nothing more to it. It's
- 12:24Speaker 2: not a it's not a when Mark Bowman, who should
- 12:27Speaker 2: know better, rights that this is a major injury, it's
- 12:29Speaker 2: not a major injury.
- 12:30Speaker 3: This is a.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Month at most, and it happened in the last week
- 12:33Speaker 2: of this season, so this should not affect them picking
- 12:35Speaker 2: up his option. That was That was not a good tweet.
- 12:38Speaker 3: And the only thing that sucks is Albie's was going
- 12:42Speaker 3: to play one hundred and sixty two games. He's I
- 12:45Speaker 3: don't think he's ever done that in his career. I'd
- 12:47Speaker 3: have to look it up. I didn't look it up
- 12:49Speaker 3: before this, but he was on pace. He had played
- 12:51Speaker 3: every game so far. And you know those braves, dudes,
- 12:54Speaker 3: they they all want to play out play there every
- 12:57Speaker 3: single day.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Big stake celebration for Patrick Zelepsky and friends. He is
- 13:02Speaker 1: officially the owner of the race. The formal closing of
- 13:06Speaker 1: the sale expected to be completed later this week. The
- 13:09Speaker 1: other owners approved it unanimously. They approved literally everything unan.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Miss Lee and Stu Sternberg was back Bay the other day.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Aja and his last little Harah. So here we go.
- 13:19Speaker 2: M Hm, we'll see. Congratulations Patrick been free to text me,
- 13:24Speaker 2: so when we're supposed to get together was supposed to
- 13:26Speaker 2: be in the next couple of days. So we'll see.
- 13:28Speaker 2: But no congratulations to Patrick. Yeah, this is a big
- 13:31Speaker 2: deal for Tampa. They're supposed to be keeping the team
- 13:34Speaker 2: in Tampa. We'll see where they find a spot to
- 13:36Speaker 2: do it. They're supposed to have public and private funding
- 13:38Speaker 2: for a new stadium. Hopefully it works out. But yeah,
- 13:42Speaker 2: this is great for Patrick and some other people that
- 13:44Speaker 2: I know, the Rick Workman who's in this group. It's uh,
- 13:47Speaker 2: it's it's pretty cool that they've they've got this done,
- 13:50Speaker 2: got it out from under Sternberg. Now we'll see what
- 13:52Speaker 2: they can do with it.
- 13:53Speaker 1: If it doesn't work out, we're available, right, We're still available.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Orlando's available, but I don't think that's going to happen.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Okay, what's going to change.
- 14:05Speaker 3: The previous contract is now Nolan void the Saint Pete
- 14:10Speaker 3: whatever they were going to do with the whole like
- 14:13Speaker 3: all the living area and everything around where the stadium
- 14:15Speaker 3: is now that's all because it's a new owner.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Well, that deal got broken anyway, then.
- 14:21Speaker 2: The race couldn't pull up their end of the bargain.
- 14:23Speaker 2: That was a long time ago.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Oh I thought that guy. I thought it was just
- 14:27Speaker 3: tabled until he could get the money, and then that's
- 14:29Speaker 3: when he sold it. So it just got because Stu
- 14:32Speaker 3: didn't bring up his portion of the money.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Crats.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Let's talk about Omaha Steaks, and it's not just steaks.

- 15:41Speaker 1: implement a challenge system for balls and strikes in the
- 15:44Speaker 1: twenty twenty six season. The league's Competition Committee voted, and
- 15:47Speaker 1: it is happening. Robot umpiring begins, not with every pitch.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Teams received two challenges to dispute calls by the home
- 15:57Speaker 1: plate umpire, two per team. That puts a little heat
- 16:03Speaker 1: on the lineup AJ So what do you think is
- 16:06Speaker 1: to the right number? We knew this was going to happen,
- 16:08Speaker 1: so let's go over the details.
- 16:11Speaker 2: We knew this was gonna happen. This is like the
- 16:12Speaker 2: biggest non surprise of all time. What do I think
- 16:17Speaker 2: will happen? I think it'll make umpires lock in for
- 16:19Speaker 2: nine innings if there's still challenges on the board. I
- 16:22Speaker 2: think sometimes when you get it laid into games and
- 16:24Speaker 2: the games you get out of hand, sometimes umpires open
- 16:26Speaker 2: up the strike zone a little bit, try to get
- 16:28Speaker 2: games moving. That'll be taken away. And I also think
- 16:31Speaker 2: it's gonna be fascinating to see who's allowed to challenge
- 16:33Speaker 2: and who's not. Most teams that I've talked to about it,
- 16:35Speaker 2: so they don't want pitchers challenging. It's mostly catchers and hitters.
- 16:38Speaker 2: But do you have your nine hole hitter challenging when
- 16:40Speaker 2: it could cost Aaron Judge or Wan so Too a
- 16:43Speaker 2: pitch later in the game. I don't know, it's gonna
- 16:45Speaker 2: be fascinating to see, but you know it's here. It's
- 16:47Speaker 2: not going anywhere, and we knew it was coming. So
- 16:49Speaker 2: welcome coming from the nine hole hitter.
- 16:53Speaker 3: You better be right. It better be an egregious, egregious
- 16:57Speaker 3: mistake and not like that fifty to fifty. The reason
- 17:01Speaker 3: it's a fifty two percent, I think was the challenges
- 17:04Speaker 3: is because they're fifty to fifty pitches. Very few umpires
- 17:08Speaker 3: are missing regularly pitches that are this far off or
- 17:13Speaker 3: this far on. It's the borderline pitches, and so it's
- 17:18Speaker 3: a fifty to fifty pitch. I think it's great because
- 17:21Speaker 3: it eliminates those massively huge mistakes. Last night, Roberto Ortiz
- 17:27Speaker 3: was calling pitches that were let or high, and the
- 17:31Speaker 3: strike zone is below that. I think it's gonna be
- 17:34Speaker 3: interesting to see how it goes. But something AJ brought
- 17:38Speaker 3: up was the length of game. Umpires start to kind
- 17:41Speaker 3: of stretch it a little bit. Okay, I get it.
- 17:43Speaker 3: You know we got to move, We got to keep
- 17:45Speaker 3: the game moving a little bit. It's an eight run game.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Is it going to lengthen those games? Are we going
- 17:49Speaker 3: to have more offense? Because the balls now on the plate,
- 17:55Speaker 3: we'll see.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I think that they should call it the end Hernandez
- 18:01Speaker 1: Abs Challenge system. It's probably gonna have a sponsor or
- 18:03Speaker 1: something to it. But I'll always remember Angel calling out,
- 18:08Speaker 1: why att Langford on three pitches in another planet? And
- 18:12Speaker 1: that's not going to happen anymore. You challenge that. But
- 18:15Speaker 1: for me, Aja, when you have just two challenges, it
- 18:19Speaker 1: does put heat on you early on in the game.
- 18:21Speaker 1: You better be right, and you mentioned the stars. Let's
- 18:24Speaker 1: flip it. What if you are Juan Soto and you
- 18:27Speaker 1: take a lot of really close pitches and you're up
- 18:30Speaker 1: for your second AB middle of the game and you
- 18:33Speaker 1: say challenge, you're wrong because it was a borderline pitch
- 18:37Speaker 1: and you were off, and then later in the game
- 18:39Speaker 1: you don't have that to use do you think that
- 18:42Speaker 1: there will be some pissed off teammates? And I'm just
- 18:44Speaker 1: using Sodo as an example, but this could happen with
- 18:46Speaker 1: anyone in the league, right if there was a challenge
- 18:49Speaker 1: blown earlier on in a game where a player felt
- 18:51Speaker 1: like it was definitely his side and it wasn't, and
- 18:54Speaker 1: then they're aud of challenges at a time when they
- 18:55Speaker 1: really need one.
- 18:57Speaker 2: That's why the strategy those whole thing's gonna be fascinating.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I mean, that's the whole thing of this is who's
- 19:02Speaker 2: going to challenge when? And who's going to be really
- 19:05Speaker 2: good at and who isn't And we'll see after a
- 19:07Speaker 2: few months who should be and coaches and managers will
- 19:09Speaker 2: make adjustments and then they'll go from there. But yeah,
- 19:12Speaker 2: that's the whole thing, is the strategy of who and
- 19:14Speaker 2: Wayne gets a challenge because if you miss, you can
- 19:16Speaker 2: screw your teammates.
- 19:18Speaker 1: And we know that front offices love to make everything
- 19:21Speaker 1: into an advanced stat and a number and a probability.
- 19:24Speaker 1: So Kratz, do you think there will actually be a
- 19:26Speaker 1: strategy implemented by teams like will a front office sit
- 19:30Speaker 1: down with the coaching staff? Then coaching staff sit down
- 19:32Speaker 1: with players and say hey, this is how it's going
- 19:34Speaker 1: to work on our team. These are the scenarios where
- 19:37Speaker 1: you have to look out. Of course, again, like you mentioned,
- 19:40Speaker 1: there might be one where it's so obvious the entire
- 19:42Speaker 1: world except for the person behind on plate, knows it.
- 19:45Speaker 1: But in many other cases, I think players are going
- 19:48Speaker 1: to be looking to leadership for when they are comfortable
- 19:51Speaker 1: to make the challenge.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I mean players should have the confidence that they know
- 19:55Speaker 3: the strike zone, catchers, hitters, pitchers they just need to
- 19:58Speaker 3: stay out of this one hundred percent. Pitchers stay out
- 20:00Speaker 3: of it. But they have to have that confidence. But
- 20:03Speaker 3: you gain that confidence because the front office is like,
- 20:06Speaker 3: go for it. I'm guaranteeing you. Just from talking to
- 20:10Speaker 3: the people with the rays, They're saying, hey, you know what,
- 20:14Speaker 3: let's test the limits on this. Let's see let's let's
- 20:17Speaker 3: learn it, let's try to see what we can do
- 20:20Speaker 3: early in the season, spring training, all that stuff with this,
- 20:23Speaker 3: because they're not afraid of making mistakes. If your front
- 20:26Speaker 3: office and your coaching staff comes to the players and goes, hey,
- 20:30Speaker 3: everybody but Aaron Judge and Ben Rice, who you know,
- 20:37Speaker 3: Cody Bellinger, the three four five guys in our lineup.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Don't don't challenge, don't challenge anything. Then you're gonna be
- 20:44Speaker 3: like up there, like, well, I think it's a ball,
- 20:46Speaker 3: but I don't want to get in trouble. So it's
- 20:49Speaker 3: really how I mean, it's like anything. Players, as confident
- 20:53Speaker 3: as you can be, you're still looking to your coaches
- 20:56Speaker 3: and your front office like, oh, you're pissed at me
- 20:58Speaker 3: because I challenge that. Well, I thought it was a ball,
- 21:01Speaker 3: so that's why I challenged it.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Jeff Passen just tweeted some big miss from last night,
- 21:09Speaker 1: and he's right, and there's people in the chat talking
- 21:11Speaker 1: about it too. The Padres Brewers game had plenty of
- 21:13Speaker 1: pretty obvious misses, and Passing said they're typically around one
- 21:18Speaker 1: thousand missed calls a week, saying that the challenge system
- 21:23Speaker 1: is going to get plenty of use. We are going
- 21:26Speaker 1: to have games where there's like twelve fourteen challenges because
- 21:34Speaker 1: the umpire keeps missing and the teams are on the money, right,
- 21:37Speaker 1: It's not gonna happen all the time. We're also gonna
- 21:38Speaker 1: have games where maybe only five or six challenges get
- 21:42Speaker 1: used because teams blow them early and they're wrong. But
- 21:45Speaker 1: there's gonna be some games aj where a bad umpire
- 21:48Speaker 1: gets exposed and that's actually going to go viral. People
- 21:50Speaker 1: are gonna be like, look, they're using twelve challenges from
- 21:53Speaker 1: one team.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Nothing's going to happen, nothing's going to change. So I
- 21:57Speaker 2: don't know why it's a big deal. Yeah, it'll affect
- 21:58Speaker 2: the game, but it might slow it down a little bit.
- 22:00Speaker 2: But it's like the umpires. I mean, it's not like
- 22:03Speaker 2: the top five routed umpires get to go to the
- 22:05Speaker 2: World Series every year. I mean, that's the way it
- 22:08Speaker 2: was supposed to be, but it hasn't happened. So I
- 22:10Speaker 2: don't know what it's gonna change other than maybe the
- 22:12Speaker 2: length of the game and the challenges, and but everyone
- 22:14Speaker 2: already knows what the good umpires and the bad empires are,
- 22:16Speaker 2: so I don't think it's And what's the margin of error?
- 22:19Speaker 2: I mean, what's the margin of error from the strike zone?
- 22:22Speaker 2: If it's this far out and the umpire calls it
- 22:25Speaker 2: a ball, we challenge it, right, I mean, or they
- 22:28Speaker 2: said at one point it was half an inch or something,
- 22:30Speaker 2: So what's what's the Because even the things in tennis
- 22:33Speaker 2: that they use aren't one hundred percent accurate, So how
- 22:35Speaker 2: do we know this little thing they're doing is I
- 22:37Speaker 2: don't know. There's a lot of a lot of questions.
- 22:40Speaker 1: There are some questions in the chat, so I'll dressed
- 22:42Speaker 1: a couple of them right now. One is shading MLB
- 22:47Speaker 1: for trying to trim down game time and then saying
- 22:50Speaker 1: this is going to extend it. I'm going to go
- 22:52Speaker 1: hard against that comment. They have done a really nice
- 22:56Speaker 1: job trimming down game time with the pitch clock. That's
- 22:59Speaker 1: dead time that pitchers taking an hour between pitches. We
- 23:02Speaker 1: had plenty of offenders like that back in the day,
- 23:05Speaker 1: and you'd have certain batters taking a ton of time
- 23:07Speaker 1: in between pitches. To me, this is different and also
- 23:10Speaker 1: from what I've seen, unless it's going to be something different,
- 23:12Speaker 1: we're talking like five is seconds to get the response,
- 23:16Speaker 1: So I don't think you're going to add that much
- 23:18Speaker 1: time Kratz. If you get a challenge and it has
- 23:20Speaker 1: to be instant, this is not replay where you look
- 23:22Speaker 1: at the manager they have like fifteen seconds they got
- 23:25Speaker 1: to come up with it. This is instant. And if
- 23:27Speaker 1: it's not instant and from the player himself, nothing to
- 23:29Speaker 1: do with the coaches, then we move on. So let's
- 23:32Speaker 1: say there are ten challenges in a game, and let's
- 23:36Speaker 1: just say it takes ten seconds total for the player
- 23:39Speaker 1: to signal it and then the call going to the computer.
- 23:43Speaker 1: That's one hundred seconds. That's not even two minutes. So
- 23:48Speaker 1: if you think this is contradictory to what MLB is
- 23:51Speaker 1: trying to do, you're damn wrong. It's going to be
- 23:53Speaker 1: entertaining for fans. That's a two minutes I'll sign up for.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Go to a Triple A game. There's a week left,
- 23:58Speaker 3: there's half a week left. Go to a Triple A
- 24:00Speaker 3: game and watch it. I went to an Iron Pigs
- 24:03Speaker 3: game about two or three weeks ago, and there was
- 24:07Speaker 3: three challenges. Umpire was right on one, the players were
- 24:11Speaker 3: right on the other two, and there was also two
- 24:14Speaker 3: where the hitter took strike three, took one step, looked
- 24:21Speaker 3: in the in the dugout and the umpire and then
- 24:25Speaker 3: he turned around and was like no, no, no, I
- 24:27Speaker 3: want to challenge, and the umpire was like no, no, no,
- 24:29Speaker 3: Like it looked like he was saying, you looked into
- 24:32Speaker 3: the dugout and they gave you. So it's like umpire's
- 24:35Speaker 3: discretion if you took too long, because it was kind
- 24:38Speaker 3: of quick. But it wasn't as quick as the other ones,
- 24:41Speaker 3: or if someone else gave you the gave you the
- 24:45Speaker 3: oh go ahead challenge it it was low or it
- 24:48Speaker 3: was you know, obviously in and out you can't see
- 24:50Speaker 3: from the dugout. But so I saw it where you
- 24:53Speaker 3: don't have They don't always get it if it's not
- 24:55Speaker 3: in on time.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Thoughts on that.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's got to be quick. It's gotta be quick
- 25:05Speaker 2: it it's gotta be quick. It's got to be it's
- 25:07Speaker 2: supposed to be quick on the TV and on the scoreboard.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I don't know if it's gonna effect. It's not gonna
- 25:11Speaker 2: make the game that much longer. It's just gonna make
- 25:15Speaker 2: people pay attention more. Like I said, I've talked umpires
- 25:18Speaker 2: about this and they just say, hey, it's gonna make
- 25:19Speaker 2: us walk in for nine innings. And if god forbid,
- 25:22Speaker 2: a guy gets some big couple wrong early, they're gonna
- 25:24Speaker 2: make it in their head and make it a little
- 25:25Speaker 2: bit strange. But this is baseball in twenty twenty six.
- 25:28Speaker 2: This is this is what we're throwing out there, and
- 25:30Speaker 2: I hope it's for the positive. I think it will be.
- 25:33Speaker 3: My question My question is, and obviously this is rules
- 25:36Speaker 3: stuff and we'll have it ironed out, but you have
- 25:39Speaker 3: it instantly on the bench. You can have it instantly.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Track man has it. That's how they're getting it. You know,
- 25:45Speaker 3: they have the Hawkeye system. All that stuff is instant.
- 25:49Speaker 3: If you're the catcher, can you have something where bang
- 25:53Speaker 3: you look at it and you're looking over with your
- 25:55Speaker 3: hand up. Can they have a green light from the
- 25:58Speaker 3: dugout where it's telling you, you know where the system
- 26:02Speaker 3: that you have in your dugout can tell you if
- 26:04Speaker 3: it was a ball or strike. I'm not I'm thinking
- 26:08Speaker 3: that's probably against the rules. But is that allowed? Like
- 26:12Speaker 3: or or are they going to get in trouble for
- 26:14Speaker 3: doing that?
- 26:18Speaker 1: Wait? Say that again. I was fighting with people online.
- 26:22Speaker 3: If the pitch comes in and you're like, you know
- 26:25Speaker 3: it's that fifty to fifty ball, you know it's close,
- 26:28Speaker 3: the catcher basically like turns and he has his hand up.
- 26:32Speaker 3: He's turning to his dugout to give the challenge. And
- 26:36Speaker 3: if it's a green light and a dugout, yes, go
- 26:39Speaker 3: for it. Because they have the pitch instantly. They have
- 26:42Speaker 3: the pitch instantly on their own system in the dugout.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Tell me.
- 26:47Speaker 2: They don't trouble they banded it.
- 26:51Speaker 3: You can't. You don't can't. They don't have talking about one.
- 26:54Speaker 3: I'm not talking about on the camera. I'm talking about
- 26:57Speaker 3: in their own your own track man system. It populates
- 27:00Speaker 3: if you're watching it on the iPad. I get it.
- 27:03Speaker 3: The iPads now don't have that. Is that using too
- 27:06Speaker 3: much technology?
- 27:07Speaker 1: No, you don't have that right now?
- 27:09Speaker 3: Have that?
- 27:09Speaker 1: They can't do that right now. They're not going to
- 27:11Speaker 1: add that.
- 27:13Speaker 3: The teams have it, just not in the dugout. Could
- 27:15Speaker 3: you have a system where would that break the rules?
- 27:19Speaker 1: Yes?
- 27:20Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't have that though.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they're not doing You're not gonna be allowed
- 27:23Speaker 1: to have that. Also, if you even see a catcher
- 27:25Speaker 1: go like that. This is where the umpire's job is
- 27:28Speaker 1: going to expanse. If you're an ump aja and you
- 27:31Speaker 1: see a catcher catch a ball and get a little
- 27:33Speaker 1: pissed and go like this, you're gonna be like, Nope,
- 27:35Speaker 1: can't challenge it. You looked over to your dugout, right,
- 27:37Speaker 1: I think that's part of it. You have to be
- 27:39Speaker 1: the one to make the call. The coaches are not
- 27:41Speaker 1: involved with it.
- 27:42Speaker 2: They don't have track man in their dugout. They can't
- 27:44Speaker 2: have like they don't have instantaneous information. That was the
- 27:46Speaker 2: whole Astros red sox iphoned, I watch Bang the trash
- 27:52Speaker 2: can all that stuff. That That was what they eliminated.
- 27:55Speaker 1: A good question by uh one of our director, Jeremy
- 27:59Speaker 1: bind the scenes said, can a dugout whistle or do something?
- 28:02Speaker 2: Yeah, but how do they know for sure?
- 28:04Speaker 1: They don't? You're right, I mean, what's the vantage point
- 28:07Speaker 1: in the dugout?
- 28:07Speaker 2: But if they want to be wrong, then they've done.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Everyone blames that whoever whistle.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Don't you think the catcher has a better vantage point
- 28:12Speaker 1: than anyone in the dugout? Anyway? Always you would think, yeah, okay, So.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I think it's going to be to have the best
- 28:18Speaker 2: vantage points.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I think it's going to be fascinating. Sorry, I'm just
- 28:22Speaker 1: getting into it online with people that are now trying
- 28:24Speaker 1: to take the game back and say if they don't
- 28:26Speaker 1: like the pitch clock, they probably don't like instant replay.
- 28:28Speaker 1: I mean, let's just strip everything and have eight hour
- 28:31Speaker 1: games again, because I called games during that time period
- 28:34Speaker 1: in a normal game would be ninety hours. Ft fan

- 29:35Speaker 1: Your Blueprint Activated with Superpower Looking Ahead, I think we
- 29:45Speaker 1: have to start with the Trade and Cleveland, right, Okay,
- 29:48Speaker 1: because the season series is on the line too, so Cleveland,
- 29:53Speaker 1: so they need to win one more and then they
- 29:56Speaker 1: have the season series, which.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Means one out of three. Then they're two down with
- 30:01Speaker 2: three to play, so they have to Cleveland has to
- 30:03Speaker 2: win the series at the middlem.
- 30:04Speaker 1: But they don't have to sweep them, but.
- 30:06Speaker 2: They have to win this. If they win two out
- 30:08Speaker 2: of three, then they have they control their own destiny.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Okay, the big one here is can Gavin Williams take
- 30:13Speaker 1: down Trek Schooble If not really good man, he has been,
- 30:17Speaker 1: I agree, if not. Game two features Biby and Jack Flaherty,
- 30:23Speaker 1: which I think is kind of a toss of Byby's
- 30:25Speaker 1: been much better again lately.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Parker America or Messi has been really good.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Messi has been good for Cleveland.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Whoever for Detroit.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Might be Kaider Montero. I think they've got the edge
- 30:34Speaker 1: on that third game, right, who with Messick fornbelievable? Right?
- 30:38Speaker 2: If Gavin Williams can can land his curveball, he's going
- 30:43Speaker 2: to give the Tigers fits because they don't hit the
- 30:44Speaker 2: curveball very well and his curveball is one of the
- 30:47Speaker 2: best in the game. And last time they faced Schoobley,
- 30:50Speaker 2: they held him. They only scored one run, but they
- 30:52Speaker 2: beat it. They won the game in the long game.
- 30:54Speaker 2: So can they hold the Tigers down? Because the Tiger's
- 30:56Speaker 2: offense has been struggling, So can they hold him down?
- 30:59Speaker 2: Get to a bull that can be got in the
- 31:01Speaker 2: Tigers versus the Cleveland bullpen. The whole key is can
- 31:05Speaker 2: the Guardian starters keep it close until the Guardians hoping
- 31:09Speaker 2: gets into the game. That's kind of how it's how
- 31:11Speaker 2: they have to win. And if you look, was the
- 31:13Speaker 2: seventeenth straight games where Cleveland starters had given up two
- 31:15Speaker 2: arned runs or less. It's pretty good. And they're home,
- 31:19Speaker 2: and they're home, and they're giving away free tickets and
- 31:21Speaker 2: they want or no fees or something. There was a
- 31:24Speaker 2: whole big thing about how they're trying to get people
- 31:26Speaker 2: there for their last two home stands, and good for you, Cleveland,
- 31:29Speaker 2: but Cleveland, show up. Come on, Cleveland, show up for
- 31:31Speaker 2: this team. Where they're at, where they've put you, I mean,
- 31:34Speaker 2: come on, show up. I was there, I've been there
- 31:36Speaker 2: when Jacobs Field, Progressive Field has been packed. Show up
- 31:39Speaker 2: and make it fun again to go to Cleveland Baseball
- 31:41Speaker 2: because they have them, And then they have Texas coming
- 31:43Speaker 2: in and Texas is already out of it. So listen,
- 31:46Speaker 2: you win this series, you got a great chance to
- 31:47Speaker 2: go not only do the postseason, but win the division.
- 31:50Speaker 1: How many people make the two and a half hour
- 31:52Speaker 1: drive from Detroit, isn't it two and a half hours?
- 31:55Speaker 2: Issue to to an hour?
- 31:57Speaker 1: Yeah, so it should be a few. Yeah. I think
- 31:59Speaker 1: it's gonna be very busy there, especially tonight, because if
- 32:03Speaker 1: I'm in Detroit and I'm like, I'm gonna try and
- 32:05Speaker 1: catch one game, I want to see school.
- 32:09Speaker 3: This is a must win for the Tigers. You can't.
- 32:12Speaker 3: You can't lose the Schoobale game. You can't lose. That's it. Look,
- 32:18Speaker 3: if it was the third game in the series, maybe
- 32:20Speaker 3: it wouldn't be as much of a must win. But
- 32:22Speaker 3: they just sat through an entire off day thinking we
- 32:27Speaker 3: didn't play very well. Okay, we still have a one
- 32:30Speaker 3: game lead. Scooble Tonight, he might he might go all nine.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Hinch might have to drag him off the mound. To me,
- 32:40Speaker 3: he's that kind of guy, and that's how they win
- 32:43Speaker 3: this game.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Cards Van Cane and the Chat said, why not Detroit
- 32:48Speaker 1: and Cleveland both make it and Houston misses the can't
- 32:52Speaker 1: that's possible. But actually I was looking last night. I
- 32:55Speaker 1: think the Astro schedule, so they're in Sacramento for three
- 32:58Speaker 1: a's are good. I mean, that's not a pushover Seas.
- 33:00Speaker 1: But Houston's got their big boys pitching in that one,
- 33:03Speaker 1: and then they finished with three against the Angels. I mean,
- 33:06Speaker 1: if you can't win four or five out of six
- 33:08Speaker 1: of those last six, then you probably don't deserve to
- 33:11Speaker 1: make it anyway.
- 33:12Speaker 2: But Cleveland has the tiebreaker over Houston.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Boston's still in play too, like we talked about.
- 33:19Speaker 2: But Boston has the tiebreaker over Houston, I know, and
- 33:21Speaker 2: I think they have it over Cleveland too. I'm not
- 33:23Speaker 2: one hundred percent sure on that.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Okay, here here's my thing.
- 33:26Speaker 2: The other game, O, go ahead, go ahead.
- 33:32Speaker 3: I was just gonna say, we need a cheat sheet
- 33:33Speaker 3: to figure out who has the tiebreaker on who that's
- 33:36Speaker 3: it all. I know have it over the Mets.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Okay, and the Diamondbacks and that X right, all right,
- 33:43Speaker 1: So what's the other one you're looking at?
- 33:44Speaker 2: Well, here's my thing. The Reds and the Pirates play right, yep.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Brady Singer has been outstanding, but the Reds have one
- 33:49Speaker 2: huge advantage in this because they're checker. Who are they
- 33:51Speaker 2: chasing the Mets. Basically, they start over an hour and
- 33:54Speaker 2: a half of form. If they can jump on the
- 33:56Speaker 2: Pirates and score some runs and get a four or
- 33:59Speaker 2: five nothing eat early, and the Mets are sitting in
- 34:01Speaker 2: regularly going, oh my gosh, they're winning. We have to win. Like,
- 34:04Speaker 2: the pressure shifts significantly. This is where it an advantage
- 34:09Speaker 2: to be on the East Coast because you can put
- 34:11Speaker 2: up a number and a score, especially for like Houston.
- 34:15Speaker 2: They're in Sacramento, they're already gonna know how the Guardians
- 34:18Speaker 2: and Tiger before they even kick off, they're gonna be
- 34:20Speaker 2: looking going, oh man, Cleveland one or Detroit one. All right,
- 34:23Speaker 2: we can win and we're good, or we don't they
- 34:26Speaker 2: or you know whatever.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Oh man, but that's bad. You're saying it can be bad, yeah.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Because you look up and you say, oh crap, they've
- 34:33Speaker 2: already won. Especially if you're the Mets, you're like, oh man,
- 34:36Speaker 2: the Red's already one. So basically because they're tied, but
- 34:39Speaker 2: the Mets are really one game behind because of the tiebreaker,
- 34:42Speaker 2: they look up and say the Mets are up four
- 34:43Speaker 2: to nothing in the third inning, five nothing in third inning.
- 34:47Speaker 2: We gotta win or we're two games out with five
- 34:49Speaker 2: to play.
- 34:49Speaker 1: That's tough.
- 34:50Speaker 2: That's tough, man, knowing that you have not only they
- 34:53Speaker 2: have the Cubs, and then who the Mets finished with
- 34:56Speaker 2: someone else? Pretty difficult. Oh the Marlins. We're lining up
- 34:58Speaker 2: the rotation him.
- 35:00Speaker 1: So yeah, they play an hour later. It's an hour later,
- 35:03Speaker 1: they'll be ahead. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati start at six point
- 35:07Speaker 1: forty Eastern time. Pittsburgh does have a skeens game in
- 35:11Speaker 1: this series. For Cincinnati, they gotta score runs too. Oh
- 35:14Speaker 1: you know he's pitching tonight for Pittsburgh. Kratz's boy. Yea,
- 35:18Speaker 1: oh Biado. He's got good numbers. He's pitched well, he's
- 35:23Speaker 1: pitched well.
- 35:23Speaker 3: He's coming back from injury. The Pirates. I'm surprised they're
- 35:26Speaker 3: actually starting him. He's a starter, but the Pirates would
- 35:29Speaker 3: like ease him back in the major league play and
- 35:32Speaker 3: oh wait no, that's probably Chandler.
- 35:35Speaker 1: The Pirates are so random. They either like they'll either
- 35:38Speaker 1: sweep Cincinnati here or they're gonna get swept. Hey a
- 35:42Speaker 1: Wikler reminder that you can get tickets for the Playmaker's Classic.
- 35:45Speaker 1: It's February eighteenth, twenty twenty six, and you're like, what,
- 35:48Speaker 1: that's so far away. But if you're trying to plan
- 35:50Speaker 1: your spring training trip, then check out the Playmaker's Classic.
- 35:55Speaker 1: We highly recommend it in downtown Phoenix. It's the fourth
- 35:58Speaker 1: annual Playmakers Class they've already done for of these now
- 36:01Speaker 1: run by the Players Trust, and it's the thirtieth anniversary
- 36:04Speaker 1: this year of the Players Trust. So it is I
- 36:07Speaker 1: think one of the premier ways to actually not just
- 36:11Speaker 1: meet and greet players, but actually spend time with them
- 36:15Speaker 1: throughout the evening. Many of them there really kind of
- 36:18Speaker 1: just letting loose for a few hours, enjoying themselves and
- 36:21Speaker 1: hanging out with the vip you fans that are there.
- 36:24Speaker 1: So if you want to check it out, Players Trust
- 36:26Speaker 1: dot org krats, music performances, food, drinks, games being played
- 36:33Speaker 1: all night, and the players don't just show up for
- 36:35Speaker 1: five minutes and leave. They're there for the entire night.
- 36:39Speaker 3: I said it last time we talked about this. They
- 36:42Speaker 3: want to be there. They understand that the money that's raised,
- 36:46Speaker 3: what it's going for, and what a great cause of
- 36:48Speaker 3: what all the stuff that Players Trust does. They want
- 36:52Speaker 3: to be there. It's a unique environment. It's not a
- 36:54Speaker 3: paid appearance type of environment, which can kind of be disingenuous.
- 36:59Speaker 3: This is this is cool.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Yeah, they'll be prizes, auctions, all kinds of things going
- 37:06Speaker 1: on there, so we're looking forward to it. We'll give
- 37:08Speaker 1: you more details as the off season eventually rolls on.
- 37:12Speaker 1: We'll bring on some people that are going to be
- 37:14Speaker 1: at the event itself. There's more details and you can
- 37:16Speaker 1: slap the QR code there to check it out to
- 37:19Speaker 1: see if you want to go grab tickets again. That's
- 37:21Speaker 1: Players Trust dot Org. Damn, that show went fast. Let's
- 37:37Speaker 1: slap and I want to shout out our friends part
- 37:41Speaker 1: of the FT network. Baseball America. They threw out their
- 37:44Speaker 1: big awards over the last twenty four hours. So yesterday
- 37:48Speaker 1: they announced Player of the Year Connor Griffin. This is
- 37:51Speaker 1: for the minor leagues in the Pirates organization. Brilliant Year,
- 37:55Speaker 1: super Young, Bright Future. And then today they announced joonahtan
- 37:59Speaker 1: is the picture of the Year. Life comes at you fast. Joanatongue,
- 38:03Speaker 1: You're the minor league pitcher of the Year and now
- 38:06Speaker 1: the Mets need you.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, what happens. Connor Griffins got a chance to
- 38:11Speaker 2: make an impact with the Pirates at some point, and
- 38:14Speaker 2: Jonah Tong is already making an impact with the Mets.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Just had Mendos to say how important he's been to them.
- 38:18Speaker 2: So we'll see if he gets into the postseason, if
- 38:20Speaker 2: he gets a chance to pitch. But it's pretty cool
- 38:22Speaker 2: for both those young men, and congratulations.
- 38:24Speaker 1: And we interviewed Connor Griffin right after the announcement was
- 38:27Speaker 1: made on Hot Sheet yesterday, so let's give some love
- 38:30Speaker 1: to Hot Sheet and give you a little clip from it.
- 38:33Speaker 4: Outfield definitely comes more natural to me, but being a short,
- 38:38Speaker 4: I just I just I just want to make plays,
- 38:40Speaker 4: and so when those kind of in between balls are
- 38:44Speaker 4: right behind me, I just I feel like I'm a
- 38:45Speaker 4: center fielder again. I go back and try to track
- 38:48Speaker 4: them down. But I think I think it is it's cool.
- 38:51Speaker 4: It's really cool how outfield and in field kind of
- 38:54Speaker 4: worked together. I feel like I feel like they stuck
- 38:57Speaker 4: me a short most of the year just because, you know,
- 39:00Speaker 4: kept my my footwork sharp and if I needed to
- 39:03Speaker 4: go to the outfield, I could. But I think in
- 39:06Speaker 4: spring training they really didn't know whether I was gonna
- 39:09Speaker 4: play centerfield or sure s out there, just giving me
- 39:11Speaker 4: reps at both spots. And then when the season started,
- 39:14Speaker 4: they said, hey, let's sick it short and we'll let
- 39:16Speaker 4: you play some centerfield if you want. But but I
- 39:19Speaker 4: spent most of the year short and I loved it.
- 39:23Speaker 1: You like the graphics, Krats, I did.
- 39:26Speaker 3: I like that background sick A big shout out to jeriber.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Yep producer director, behind the scenes putting Hatchet together. But
- 39:35Speaker 1: it was cool to get Knor Griffin on the show.
- 39:37Speaker 1: And Crats, don't worry. I stepped in to ask the classic, Hey,
- 39:43Speaker 1: I did it in a unique way. But are you
- 39:46Speaker 1: gonna rescue Pittsburgh and make the Pirates a playoff team again?
- 39:51Speaker 1: And are you talking to Skiings? He said, Skins is
- 39:53Speaker 1: keeping in touch with him, so I like that part
- 39:56Speaker 1: of it, right, Paul Skins is just putting his head
- 39:59Speaker 1: down and mowing down hitters for the first couple of
- 40:02Speaker 1: seasons of his career to an historic pace. But if
- 40:06Speaker 1: we sat down with him on on off the record
- 40:10Speaker 1: conversation or had dinner with him, whatever, he would probably
- 40:13Speaker 1: say what about his first couple of years? Knowing how
- 40:17Speaker 1: much of a gamer he is, What do you think
- 40:18Speaker 1: he would say if you were sitting down with him
- 40:20Speaker 1: at dinner and like, Hey, tell me how you really
- 40:22Speaker 1: feeling about being there right now?
- 40:25Speaker 3: He's frustrated. He would explain why, he would explain why
- 40:28Speaker 3: he does the scheme stare. He punches a dude out
- 40:32Speaker 3: and it's maybe his fifth or sixth strikeout, and he'd
- 40:34Speaker 3: be like kind of looks up. He's not looking at
- 40:37Speaker 3: the radar gun, which is clearly over there. He just
- 40:40Speaker 3: kind of looks up like, damn, I am good. Why
- 40:45Speaker 3: can't I get players around me? So when he guys
- 40:47Speaker 3: has a guy like Connor Griffin, who AJ probably remembers
- 40:52Speaker 3: seeing him when he was a junior playing with a
- 40:54Speaker 3: bunch of seniors when we coached the All American Game,
- 40:57Speaker 3: Like you knew he had some something, but she also
- 41:01Speaker 3: knew like this dude puts a lot of work in
- 41:03Speaker 3: He talked about it in the interview. He put on
- 41:05Speaker 3: fifteen pounds and he had the season that he had.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Paul Skeins wants to bring that guy onto his boat
- 41:13Speaker 3: as soon as possible. Pirates, they'll try to manipulate it
- 41:17Speaker 3: however they want to say it. But this dude torched
- 41:20Speaker 3: the minor leagues. And if Paul Skeins is texting him
- 41:22Speaker 3: and keeping him keeping in touch. That means he knows
- 41:25Speaker 3: that this dude's going to be a guy that can
- 41:27Speaker 3: play behind him and maybe help him get a few
- 41:29Speaker 3: more ws.
- 41:33Speaker 1: So AJ, I'm looking at the lineup right now for
- 41:35Speaker 1: Pittsburgh this year. They have one player in the Fangraft's
- 41:41Speaker 1: top one hundred three hitter, Brian Reynolds, who's still below
- 41:46Speaker 1: one hundred and ninety nine ops plus. I mean for him,
- 41:50Speaker 1: it's more of a down year. Nobody else is in
- 41:52Speaker 1: the top one hundred.
- 41:54Speaker 2: You can't have that, can't they're pitching. We all went
- 41:57Speaker 2: into the year sayd they're pitching was going to be
- 41:59Speaker 2: really Jorjo was went down. Skeins has had a great hair,
- 42:02Speaker 2: probably the Nlsy Young Award a winner pretty easily. Bubba
- 42:06Speaker 2: Chandler hasn't got hasn't been done anything at the big
- 42:09Speaker 2: league level other than come out of the bullpen. I
- 42:11Speaker 2: think he started one game and Oviedo's back, but the
- 42:15Speaker 2: rest of it has been kind of set and well fired.
- 42:18Speaker 2: A manager trying to make different moves. But the Saint
- 42:22Speaker 2: it guys, the Saint the s Ain't it pirates fans.
- 42:25Speaker 2: I'm sorry, It's got to get better than this.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Do you think Ben Charrington is back. Nobody knows because.
- 42:32Speaker 2: I don't know what his contract status is.
- 42:36Speaker 1: I want to say he's got a year or two
- 42:38Speaker 1: left on there.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Don't see I'm getting rid of.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Him because he doesn't want to pay guys. Yeah, I
- 42:45Speaker 1: mean most teams do that. It's rare that a GM
- 42:48Speaker 1: is a lame duck. But you're saying he's not gonna
- 42:50Speaker 1: do it. I know Ken was asked about this yesterday,
- 42:52Speaker 1: and from what I recall I watched the show, it's
- 42:54Speaker 1: a little punch drunk from a long flight. But I
- 42:57Speaker 1: think he said something along the lines of Bob Nutting
- 43:00Speaker 1: being too unpredictable, that it's hard for him to pinpoint
- 43:03Speaker 1: what he's going to do.
- 43:06Speaker 3: But if you do what unpredictable, you know exactly what
- 43:12Speaker 3: Bob Nutting is gonna do, whatever the cheapest route is.
- 43:16Speaker 3: He has not ever made a decision in since I've
- 43:20Speaker 3: watched The Pirates when he has been the owner that
- 43:22Speaker 3: has been anything less than about the money from cutting
- 43:26Speaker 3: guys before they get their bonuses, to making sure that
- 43:30Speaker 3: when a player, a historic player in the organization's contract
- 43:34Speaker 3: is going to be ten million dollars, he's traded before that.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Two not signing any free agency. He's very dependable. He's
- 43:41Speaker 3: exactly who he always is. The money so Ben Sherdon
- 43:44Speaker 3: has an extra year. Exactly what AJ said. They're not
- 43:48Speaker 3: paying two guys to do one spot.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Conflicting reports on here, but at least some of the
- 43:58Speaker 1: articles I'm looking at, including one here on the CBS
- 44:01Speaker 1: saying to believed he signed through twenty six or twenty seven.
- 44:07Speaker 2: They're not going to get rid of him.
- 44:08Speaker 1: So he's still going to run point there. Okay, but
- 44:13Speaker 1: good job on Connor Griffin back to the top of
- 44:16Speaker 1: the conversation. Also, happy birthday to our FT teammate Trevor May.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Ken Rosenthal is joining us on tomorrow's show, So we'll
- 44:24Speaker 1: check in with Ken on the races and enjoy the
- 44:26Speaker 1: gamesnight because there's playoff vibes with quite a few of them,
- 44:30Speaker 1: even if it's only one team fighting for their playoff lives.
- 44:34Speaker 1: The Cubs are in, but the Mets are fighting. The
- 44:36Speaker 1: Reds are fighting to keep that top spot against the Pirates,
- 44:40Speaker 1: team that can play spoiler who else besides we've got
- 44:45Speaker 1: by the way Thursday, Mike Shilt is joining us, right
- 44:48Speaker 1: We're gonna talk to Shilt.
- 44:49Speaker 2: You said he would, we'll see.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Okay. Ryan Gowens is on the schedule for Friday, and
- 44:54Speaker 1: Kratsat's at the buzzer twenty five seconds.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Still not eliminated. Craig Mish put it down. Marlin's still
- 45:01Speaker 3: in it. They're still in it. All six games to go.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Just have to have a meteor hit the earth and
- 45:07Speaker 3: destroy all the other teams and then the Marlins are in.
- 45:11Speaker 1: That's dark parlay boost token, let's talk about it. If
- 45:16Speaker 1: you're signed up in the bet MGM app, then you can
- 45:19Speaker 1: add a little parlay wager made up entirely MLB bets

- 45:25Speaker 1: winnings that your wager was made with that token and
- 45:27Speaker 1: you win. Gambling problem or concerned, call one eight hundred gambler.
