- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone, welcome back to the Astrology for Beginners podcast.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I'm your host Stefanie Kate Boucher and I am so happy to have you here.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: This is the podcast for you if you have ever wanted to learn how to read a natal chart or were kind of interested in astrology and wished that you understood more about it but you didn't know where to begin or it seemed too complicated and you didn't have the time or maybe the resources to invest in learning it.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: My goal is to break things down for you episode by episode in the most simplified way that I can so that you can learn to speak the language of the stars.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Thank you for learning astrology with me.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: We are here today to talk about eclipse season.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: We have been covering the planets and their energies for the past couple of episodes now and I know that in the last episode I said we would likely be talking about the social planets which are Jupiter and Saturn next.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: and we will do that however I wanted to break from that just for one episode to talk about eclipse season and for a very good reason if you follow astrology at the cultural level you have probably already been hearing the words eclipse season being tossed around a lot lately and
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: And that is because we are about to have an eclipse season.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: We are actually in the eclipse season window already and it's going to be a really impactful one.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Impactful both at the individual level and at the societal and cultural level.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: So I feel like I would be doing a disservice to you all by not bringing that up and describing what this is all about.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: and I wanted to do it before all this stuff starts really speeding up and things start to happen so that's what we're going to do and then in the next episode we will continue on with planets so what is eclipse season well first off from a technical standpoint I should say that eclipses and eclipse seasons are not uncommon experiences they're pretty common actually
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: We have an eclipse season typically about twice a year with each of those seasons occurring about six months apart from one another.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: So for example, we have lunar and solar eclipses coming up on March 25th and April 8th respectively.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: That is the eclipse season we're talking about today.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: And then we have the next eclipse season happening in October.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: We also had one
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: Last October.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Now, eclipses within a single eclipse season usually happen in pairs with a lunar and solar eclipse occurring about two weeks apart.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Lunar eclipses happen when the Earth's shadow obscures the moon during a full moon.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Lunar eclipses happen when the moon is full.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: A Solar Eclipse then occurs when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun, temporarily blocking the Sun from our view and also kind of blocking its energy from us.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like an energetic power outage, if you will.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: and a solar eclipse occurs during a new moon.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Now lunar and solar eclipse pairs often happen in opposite signs like the two that are coming up.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: These eclipses will be in the signs of Libra and Aries because we are currently having a series of eclipses on the Aries-Libra axis.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: That started in the spring of 2023
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: and we'll keep working with those eclipse signs throughout this year.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Most of the eclipses in 2024 will occur along the Aries-Libra axis although one of the eclipses in October of 2024 will be in Pisces
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Because in 2025 the eclipses will be shifting from the Aries-Libra axis into the Pisces-Virgo axis.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: So that one will give us a window into the themes that are coming in 2025.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: With this particular set in the spring of 2024 we're doing Libra and Aries and that axis the Libra Aries axis is all about self and relationship or you as an individual versus you in partnership with other people and it's highlighting the ways in which we choose to balance those things and
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Whether or not we're balancing those things in a way that's healthy and satisfying for us, or if we're sort of stuck too far on one side or the other.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: We'll talk more about that in a few minutes, but first, why are eclipses a big deal?
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Well, all eclipses are associated with change and transformation.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: They are notorious for shaking things up and propelling us out of our comfort zones through unexpected events or big revelations that shift our consciousness or our understanding of things or cause us to pivot and change course in our lives.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: and sometimes it's not so gentle it can feel intense depending on what's being activated in your natal chart and that's an important point because not everyone is going to feel a single eclipse in the same way it depends on where in the sky the eclipse is happening in relation to your natal chart placements
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: But if you're one of those people whose chart is getting heavily activated during an eclipse, this timeframe can be a big catalyst for change and unexpected developments.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: And because people tend to dislike change, eclipses tend to get a bad rap and have been historically feared occurrences.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: They don't need to be feared.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: The progress that takes place tends to be for our benefit, ultimately, even if it comes with some challenges.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: But change can feel hard.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Even if you think you're someone who likes change, who welcomes change,
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: You might really only like certain kinds of change.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: You might prefer the lighter and less uncomfortable changes in life as opposed to others that feel a little more difficult.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: However, it's important to understand with eclipses that these changes or these unexpected occurrences or changes in perspective are not simply here to make things difficult for us.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: They are here to move us toward our lessons and toward our highest purpose for being here.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: In terms of their specific energies, though, lunar eclipses are more about the past.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: They can signal endings, a time of letting go, and the closing of one chapter in your life so that something else can begin, though it might not always be clear yet what is beginning.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Think of this as being like a cleansing or a reorganization of your life in some way.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Whatever wasn't working or wasn't serving your highest purpose may fall away during an eclipse season or near one.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Solar Eclipses, on the other hand, are about looking ahead toward the future.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: They signal beginnings and new areas of growth.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: This is more of a time of creation, so if you think of the upcoming pair of eclipses, you will have just closed a chapter or let something go
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: During the lunar eclipse, maybe something fell away or was removed from your life, and now with the solar eclipse, it's time to build something new.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: Unexpected events can also happen here with solar eclipses, just like with lunar eclipses, although they may feel a little bit more serendipitous or constructive rather than destructive.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Like a new possibility that you hadn't seen before or a new opportunity that sort of just cropped up or maybe there's been something you've wanted to do or be or work on and it never really seemed practical but suddenly it is.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: Something has changed either internally or externally.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: Which can be really thrilling, but also scary.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: So, for example, a change of career or a new promotion or moving to a new city.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Any of those things would typically be considered positive changes, but they can still feel stressful because there's effort and work and some risk involved.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: We are actually already in this window of time.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Most astrologers feel that there is an energetic window that opens up a few weeks before the first eclipse and then stays open for a few weeks after the last eclipse when we will either be able to feel this energy or the stirrings of change approaching and then later when we're still dealing with the reverberations and might still be having some things crop up for us.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: So what can I expect at this particular eclipse, you might be wondering?
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: Well, as I mentioned earlier, the upcoming eclipses are taking place on the Aries-Libra axis.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: So on the collective level, everyone can look for stuff to come up either around your independence and the way you assert yourself in the world or around your relationships or partnerships, the way you work with other people.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: or some combination of both of these things because those two areas are typically connected.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: We're always having to balance what we need with what others need or realizing we're off balance and leaning too far to one side of the equation.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: And if this is you, the cosmos may want to bring this to your attention now.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: this isn't just about romantic partnerships by the way it could very much be that but this energy could also come up in a close business partnership or a mentorship or someone you own property with and maybe there's been some underlying tension for one of you
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: or you have a best friend who you share everything with so it's just as likely to be about platonic partnerships as it is romantic ones I also think it's possible for stuff to come up that could be more abstract or internal in nature
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: Now, because this first eclipse, this lunar eclipse, is in the sign of Libra and Libra is the relationship sign and lunar eclipses are about letting go or letting things fall away, it feels very much like this is going to be about letting go of some relationship stuff that isn't serving you well.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: For some people, it might be about literally letting go of a relationship that simply isn't able to be repaired.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Or it's simply not in your best interest anymore to continue with it.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Sometimes if we've done what we can do, it's just sometimes we have to let something go.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners by Stefanie Kate Boucher
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: Letting Go of People Pleasing Tendencies
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe you've been sacrificing too much of yourself for a partnership or for someone else and you realize that it's in your best interest to stand more firmly in your own truth.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: Maybe you've been doing too much peacekeeping when that's not always in your best interest.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's about letting go of worrying about what other people will think of you and just being yourself.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's letting go of prioritizing relationships in general over your own individual path.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: these are all very Libran themes very Libra like challenges so any of that could come up right now all right so then a couple of weeks later with the solar eclipse this feels like it's about how you continue this process by stepping more firmly into your authenticity or your true nature it could be about being more confident or assertive or maybe being more direct going forward
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: And also this being something that pivots the direction of your life somehow.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: A new mindset like this would certainly be very impactful.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: This is also, for many people, going to herald a new beginning in some way.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: All solar eclipses do, as we've talked about, but this one especially, because it's in Aries, which is the first sign of the zodiac.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: It's the start of a new astrological year.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: It's the beginning of spring, and Aries is all about birthing something new.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: It's an inception point, and then it's off to the races with Aries.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: But all in all, what we can aspire to through all of this besides just speeding up the developments in our own lives is to get better at that balancing act between having a healthy sense of self and a healthy sense of partnership.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: And we're going to get to look at exactly what all of that means, not just in this eclipse season but for the rest of the year.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: And it's pretty interesting, I think, because if you consider the timing of this, we're living in such a divisive time.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: It's an emotional and frenzied time where a lot of people are deeply polarized and placing large swaths of the world's population into the category of other.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: There's Me and Us and There's You and Them.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: This is true around the world.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: Everyone seems to be experiencing this at some level.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: And if you live in the United States, then you already know that this is an election year and things are likely to get more heated and intense in this country by the month.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: and yet we have this series of eclipses that are seemingly designed to get people to learn to balance the self with the other and incidentally these eclipses are going to both be seen from the U.S.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: The lunar and solar eclipse together if you look at their paths on a map
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: They Form a Big X right through the, well, almost the center of the country.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: So it's going to be very interesting to see what plays out here.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: It's not exactly an area that I'm very well studied on, but there's lots of discourse about this topic, which you can Google, and I would because it's fascinating.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Those are the major themes for the collective of humanity.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: To get a better idea of how the eclipses could impact you on a more personal level, I would certainly look at whichever houses are ruled by Aries and Libra in your natal chart to find clues about where in your life these themes may crop up or where there could be unexpected developments of some kind.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: You might find that there's even some sort of push-pull dynamic between those two houses in the next few weeks but certainly regardless of house placement I'd still keep an eye out for the relationship themes.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: Also this series of eclipses in Aries and Libra started in 2023 and
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: there was a solar eclipse at 21 degrees of Libra I think in October so think about what was going on for you last fall whatever themes you were dealing with then or projects you took on then or
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: This is like the next chapter in that story.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: and you'll get another one even in the fall of 2024 because there will be another solar eclipse in Libra on October 2nd.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: This particular eclipse season will affect you more strongly if you have planetary placements or angles in cardinal signs so Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: The Lunar Eclipse is happening at 5 degrees of Libra, so if you have any placements around 5 degrees of a cardinal sign, give or take a few, I'd say anywhere from 0 to 10 degrees of any cardinal sign, you may feel this one more strongly, particularly if there are relationship issues that have kind of been brewing under the surface or were hidden before.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Remember, challenges that arise aren't simply coming up to wreck anything that's already perfect and wonderful and not in need of any repair.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: This is very much about looking at what was already needing to be addressed but wasn't being addressed or wasn't being addressed in the right way.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: The solar eclipse is happening at 19 degrees of Aries, so look for planets or angles in your chart that are from about 14 degrees to 24 degrees of any cardinal sign.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: You all will probably feel this energy the strongest.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: I'm in this category myself with my natal sun being activated so perhaps I will let you know how it goes and I'd love to hear from you too and find out what you noticed.
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: Also, because we're embarking on this eclipse season and eclipses are so tied to the moon, I wanted to let you know that I will be discussing them also via my Moon Circle newsletter on Substack.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: If you're interested in that and you want to subscribe, I use that space to show you how you can use the eight phases of the moon.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: How to Manifest Your Goals.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: The Next Full Moon and New Moon Posts will have some further discussion about these eclipses because that energy is for sure going to be a huge part of the energy that we'll be getting from the moon over the course of the next several weeks.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: So I would welcome the chance to work with you there.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: I hope to see you.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: You can find that at mooncircle.substack.com.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: Finally, I want to add here that with eclipses, the most productive course of action is simply to surrender and go with the flow.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: Not that much action is sometimes the best course of action.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: Eclipses are kind of an exercise in trust.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: You Don't Want to Fight Against Whatever is Coming Up.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: And in fact, the more you resist, the more intense the lessons can sometimes get.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: So it's a good idea to just, as best you can, try and remain objective, stay curious about whatever comes up,
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: this is not a time to go looking for big sweeping changes or make impulsive decisions either you might not have all of the information you need to do that just yet so you just want to go about your day-to-day life
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: Let the Eclipses Happen, Let the Energy Come, Let the Energy Go, and see what comes up for review.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: And from there, it's going to be about feeling into your intuition.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: So be sure and stay connected with that by paying attention and also by taking good care of yourself.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: Be sure you're getting plenty of rest and
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: Eat Nourishing Food, Get Plenty of Gentle Movement, and Create Enough Time and Space to Hear Your Inner Voice.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: Okay, I am going to wrap this up for today.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: You're welcome to send me Eclipse questions if you have any.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: There's a link to my email and Substack page in the show notes.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: If you have an extra 30 seconds, I'd love it if you could rate or review this podcast.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: that will really help the show and make sure that more people can find it I also encourage you to subscribe through whatever app you listen on that will ensure that you never miss an episode that's all for today everyone thank you so much for being here and learning astrology with me next time we will be talking about the social planets and those are Jupiter and Saturn again but in the meantime have a great week and I will see you next time
