- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, Demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam Smith in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:38Hi, it's Adam here. Let me ask you a question.
- 0:42Do you ever feel that you sabotage your life, that things
- 0:46are going pretty good and then you mess it up, you throw a big
- 0:49spanner into the works? If so, I think you might get
- 0:53some value from this session because I was working with a
- 0:57client that every now and then would use alcohol and drink a
- 1:03lot to kind of derail their life.
- 1:05Things would be going good, but then they would choose to go on
- 1:10a bit of a binge and just drink more than in hindsight they
- 1:13would want to. And they would know that after a
- 1:16few drinks they're kind of out of control and they're just
- 1:19going to drink whatever they drink.
- 1:21So this is designed to do certain things.
- 1:24That mean that? We almost work backwards and we
- 1:27say, right, if you don't have that first drink or two, then
- 1:31what are all the other negative things that then don't happen
- 1:34because you didn't do the first few things?
- 1:37You can think of it as like a row of dominoes that actually a
- 1:41lot of the problems in life are the 6th, 7th or 8th domino that
- 1:44fall over. But if domino.
- 1:45One never goes over the chain reaction, never gets to that
- 1:49place. And this particular client would
- 1:51have what's called a polarity response.
- 1:54They would have this inner dialogue that would do the
- 1:57opposite of what other people either wanted them to do or not
- 2:00wanted them to do. So if they got a compliment,
- 2:03then they would almost think that they didn't want to do it
- 2:06because other people noticed the improvement.
- 2:10And it actually uses a different idea of a parallel universe.
- 2:14They get to see this version of themselves that quit alcohol for
- 2:19about 6 months but then never went back to it.
- 2:22And by looking at that life and how that life had improved and
- 2:26all the ways that they could still enjoy their social life
- 2:29and life with friends and relationships but without
- 2:32needing alcohol, that would give them inspiration in their
- 2:36reality. So if you want to either reduce
- 2:38alcohol or silence that voice, that might be quite
- 2:42self-destructive. I think you'll get some value
- 2:45from this session. And if you like the idea of
- 2:47working with me directly rather than just listening to
- 2:51recordings of my podcast, I've actually created a webinar that
- 2:55I go through what it's like to work with me.
- 2:58And the webinar is completely free.
- 3:00And there's a very special bonus at the end of that webinar as
- 3:02well. So if you're interested in
- 3:04checking that out, have a look in the show notes in the
- 3:07description and you'll be able to register for that webinar and
- 3:10get those free bonuses. For now though, find a quiet,
- 3:14comfortable place where you won't be distracted or
- 3:16disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 3:39Take a deep breath in and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 3:51slow, long, relaxing breath and as you exhale, feel that
- 4:00wonderful feeling of release, as if any tension, stress, worries
- 4:12are slowly, incrementally leaving your body in that
- 4:20outward breath. Breathing in a feeling of pure
- 4:30acceptance and releasing any impatience, any frustrations,
- 4:42just allowing any tension in the jaw to relax.
- 4:52Arms and legs feeling limp, loose and heavy.
- 4:59That's it. And the deeper you breathe, the
- 5:04more relaxed you feel. And the more relaxed you feel,
- 5:11the deeper you breathe. I want you to think back to a
- 5:18time. A time when your job was to
- 5:23influence. Maybe you can go back to a
- 5:28memory knocking on doors, being trained.
- 5:38I want you to get a sense that good or perhaps bad influence
- 5:47has a percentage of truth at its very core.
- 5:58When a salesperson is sold the idea of a product to sell to a
- 6:06customer, the benefits quite often have an element of truth
- 6:17right there inside. But I want you to imagine going
- 6:25back, back in time as you are now observing that younger
- 6:31version of you influencing. See how you were dressed, maybe
- 6:41you had some bag or briefcase with you.
- 6:46See you knocking on doors and see that version of you that had
- 6:55the objective to influence. And I want you to see all of the
- 7:06tools that you used back then to influence.
- 7:13Sometimes people use fear to influence.
- 7:20Have you been burgled in this area?
- 7:24Have you seen the crime rates increasing?
- 7:30Or maybe maybe it appeals to a role?
- 7:41A mother wants to protect their children, a father wants to
- 7:45protect the property. And I want you to see that
- 7:49version of you using every trick in the book to influence is
- 8:00difficult to influence if you're not in rapport.
- 8:04See how you smiled, you showed interest, you were polite.
- 8:14And I want you to think of a time when you influence someone
- 8:22even though you knew what you were selling was not in the
- 8:30interest of the person you were selling it to.
- 8:37Maybe because it was overpriced, maybe.
- 8:44Maybe because it had certain strings attached that were just
- 8:52unpleasant, and maybe it had to be such a high price otherwise
- 9:01there isn't enough Commission to pay you.
- 9:05It doesn't mean why, it means what I want you to see what was
- 9:15happening. Maybe, maybe we can look at this
- 9:24as a win lose dynamic. The company won, they got their
- 9:30money, you were winning. Every sale you made, you got
- 9:34your money. And if the product was amazing,
- 9:39it would also be a win for the customer.
- 9:45Except you knew it wasn't. You knew it was bad for them,
- 9:51but good for you. And then just imagine.
- 9:59Imagine what it would feel like if you lived in a house down the
- 10:05same St. And I want you to imagine seeing
- 10:10yourself dressed in a expensive suit, hair slicked back,
- 10:21charming smile you hear from inside the home.
- 10:27The doorbell go and knock on the door and as you open the door,
- 10:33see that younger version of you smiling, building a connection,
- 10:45using those first few words or phrases to start the pitch.
- 10:54And I want you to get a sense then, even if you've worked hard
- 10:59that day, even if you had the money, even if you had no
- 11:08security in your home, there is zero chance of you buying what
- 11:19this individual yourself has to sell.
- 11:27And I want you to see that the harder they try, the less
- 11:35persuaded you become. You don't even need to give
- 11:42objection after objection. You just know.
- 11:49You just know that you're not ever going to buy this thing
- 11:56partly because you've come to the conclusion that even if
- 12:03you're going to buy something like this, it wouldn't be
- 12:09because you're being persuaded. It would be because you intended
- 12:16to find something you would research the best possible thing
- 12:21to do that for you. But let's see them try with
- 12:30their smiles. Maybe there's a smooth whisper
- 12:36to their tonality. You really need this.
- 12:43What's the point in working hard to have this house if someone
- 12:47could break in and steal things, think of the lines and then
- 12:54slowly start to distort them. I want you to imagine they
- 13:01started selling security and now they're selling pleasure, or at
- 13:07least the representation of it. I want you to imagine you're now
- 13:18in your place, not an imaginary house on an imaginary street,
- 13:23but your home. Want you to imagine you have
- 13:29worked hard, nine to five. It was easy not to be
- 13:34distracted. You had work to do.
- 13:38But imagine it's the evening and instead of a knock at the door,
- 13:44there's a subtle voice, almost like it's just behind your head.
- 13:53And notice how often they use the word just let's just do
- 13:59this. Let's just do that.
- 14:05Just seems innocent, low stakes, it seems.
- 14:13What could possibly go wrong? I want you to get a sense that
- 14:21if someone was fishing, the bait on the hook is appealing to the
- 14:29fish. They want to catch the fish
- 14:34thinks they're getting something tasty, something pleasurable.
- 14:40The fish is not aware of the hook, and if that fish takes a
- 14:48nibble, but the fisherman started to bring in the line too
- 14:57quickly, the line would snap and the fish would swim away.
- 15:08The fisherman learns slowly bring the fish close enough so
- 15:18the tension in the line is stronger when they're close than
- 15:22if they're far away. And when they get to a certain
- 15:27level, there's no going back for that fish.
- 15:34Just imagine. Imagine a serial killer
- 15:42charming. Imagine that serial killer says
- 15:48there is the most incredible view of the ocean you've ever
- 15:53seen. You've never seen anything like
- 15:57that. Let's just go for a little walk.
- 16:02It's only over there, not too far.
- 16:07Come with me. It's incredible.
- 16:14Use Influence promises, the language of seduction to get
- 16:24them to the edge of the Cliff. And maybe, maybe the view is OK,
- 16:34but their intention wasn't for them to see the view.
- 16:37The intention was to push them over the Cliff when they get to
- 16:42the edge. If you feel like you've been the
- 16:50fish on the end of that hook one too many times, let me know if
- 16:56I'm nodding your head And the fish was real, the bait was
- 17:06real, even if you didn't ever get what you really hoped for.
- 17:15And if you've been lured to the edge of the Cliff one too many
- 17:21times and what you felt was the crumbling form of
- 17:29disappointment, empty feeling, that remorse feeling, why did I
- 17:36do this one too many times? Let me know by nodding your
- 17:40head. Let's just say fish have short
- 17:48memories, is the irony. Sometimes fishermen will take
- 17:56pictures with their fish and the markings reveal it was exactly
- 18:03the same fish caught more than once.
- 18:08But fishes have short memories. If enough time goes by, they see
- 18:16the bait on the hook and they have no memory that they've been
- 18:22caught with that bait on that hook before.
- 18:31And just imagine you were a character in a computer game
- 18:36that if you die, you respawn. If you were lured to the cliffs
- 18:42edge and pushed over and you respawned, how many times did
- 18:51they push you over the edge of the same Cliff?
- 18:59If you were a fish with perfect memory, if you knew what the
- 19:04intention was to get you to the edge of the Cliff, no amount of
- 19:10influence would make it appealing.
- 19:19So let's now imagine no metaphors like bait on hooks or
- 19:26Cliff edges. I want you to think of some
- 19:31random evening and just imagine there's a voice.
- 19:39It seems like it's coming from slick, smooth salesperson,
- 19:47almost like they're within you, whispering seductively the back
- 19:53of your head. And maybe they're saying things.
- 20:00Things that are true. That's how these salespeople
- 20:05work. They build rapport by saying
- 20:08things that are true to begin with.
- 20:11You've worked hard today. What's the point in living just
- 20:17to work hour after hour? You've got nothing to do.
- 20:29What are you going to sit here bored?
- 20:33Why don't you just just visit that website?
- 20:39Just sign into that app. Just send that message.
- 20:48It can feel harmless at the point.
- 20:54Each tiny thing is harmless as you get closer and closer to the
- 21:02edge. And sometimes the brain says,
- 21:06well, I've come this far and may as well continue.
- 21:17The whole point of baiting and then switching, you know, only
- 21:23works if you take the bait. And what if the bait is a photo,
- 21:32an image, the dopamine you get from someone responding to a
- 21:38message? What if the bait is the thought
- 21:44of something in your imagination that probably won't happen, but
- 21:51it feels appealing? When you're aware of the game,
- 22:01when you're aware of the bait, and when you're aware of how
- 22:08many times you've been caught on that hook or pushed over the
- 22:15edge, I want you to feel an incredible sense.
- 22:23A sense that you are immune to this kind of persuasion, that
- 22:31the harder they try and persuade, the less interested
- 22:35you are. You don't need objection after
- 22:40objection. You don't need to justify your
- 22:44choices. You simply don't want to buy
- 22:54what is being sold anymore. So let's imagine it.
- 23:02Imagine that the harder they try, the more you smile and the
- 23:09more they try and influence you to do one thing, the more you
- 23:16feel inspired to do something. Something that gives value to
- 23:23your life. And maybe maybe that's jumping
- 23:34in the car and going to a driving range.
- 23:39Maybe it's going to the gym and having a workout.
- 23:46Maybe it's connecting with someone, a friend, someone you
- 23:54see a future with. I want you to get a sense that
- 24:00each and every time this part returns, it reminds you.
- 24:08It reminds you of what you really want.
- 24:12You want fulfilment. Meaning purpose.
- 24:22You want a sense of real experience?
- 24:29You're not interested in this a scam anymore, and it is a scam.
- 24:42A slick internal salesperson that's been scamming you.
- 24:47And each time they scam you, you feel a sense of remorse.
- 24:57But a good scam gives you a taste, a taste of something real
- 25:07before it's taken away. You may have seen those St.
- 25:16scammers, the ball under the three cups or finding the Queen
- 25:27of Hearts and the scam is you see other people winning and
- 25:36when it's a low stakes you may even win yourself.
- 25:41That's the point. You've had a taste of something
- 25:46and now when the stakes get higher, you lose and you lose,
- 25:54not because you're not following what's happening, but because
- 25:59they decide if you win or you lose.
- 26:03And when you're on the hook, you lose and you lose.
- 26:10And what can happen is the more you lose, the more desperate you
- 26:14are to win. And the more they can take, the
- 26:19more if in those evenings there is a void because those hobbies,
- 26:27those experiences, those connections and friendships
- 26:32haven't had the opportunity to be built because time, money,
- 26:39emotion was deployed in those things that we're going to take
- 26:45and take and take. When you know it's a scam, to
- 26:56not be scammed becomes easier. When you know the one scamming
- 27:04you as an agenda becomes easier for you to escape their
- 27:16clutches. You deserve this, just this last
- 27:52time. It's all bait on a hook to lure
- 27:59you in. And you don't have to fight this
- 28:04forever. You're perhaps just three times
- 28:10away from being free. Don't be surprised if the next
- 28:16time it'll get more tenacious. But by not taking the bait, you
- 28:27reduce the power. And then the next time you can
- 28:33smile, you're closer to escaping.
- 28:40And then the third time feels like freedom.
- 28:45You want that part to come, to whisper, to try to influence
- 28:53you. And when it can't, and you
- 28:57choose to use your time, your money, your energy to do
- 29:01something that makes you feel good rather than remorseful,
- 29:08then you're free. Sometimes you need to realize
- 29:14you've been scammed in the past to avoid being scammed in the
- 29:18future. And if you're unconscious, seize
- 29:22it now for what it really is, that smooth, seductive voice
- 29:31that has an element of truth. There is fun, there is pleasure.
- 29:39But the cost and the baggage, but just too high.
- 29:43That's what makes it a scam. If your unconscious is ready now
- 29:49to see it for what it really is and to deploy your resource
- 29:54isn't something much better for you.
- 29:58Let me know by nodding your head.
- 30:03Yeah, it's in. It's time to return, but with a
- 30:06sense of you are now ready. And I want you to think of one
- 30:18thing that you will do in advance when this voice comes
- 30:23calling, this door starts knocking and maybe you've got a
- 30:31contingency. If you can't golf because it's
- 30:35raining, there's something else you can do.
- 30:39But when in advance you decide the intention, you already are
- 30:47mitigating and reducing the chances.
- 30:52So it's time to leave this place and return to the present with a
- 30:57feeling of empowered clarity. So take a deep breath in through
- 31:02your nose and out through your nose and wiggle your fingers,
- 31:08wiggle your toes, connect and calibrate into the here and the
- 31:13noun as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 31:21Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 31:30Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910 Wide awake,
- 31:35Wide awake. Wide awake.
