- 0:00Speaker 1: Are we good?
- 0:00Speaker 2: We can commence?
- 0:06Speaker 1: Where is the.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Oh it's free?
- 0:10Speaker 3: Stop five slave? Or a all right?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Should we launch in? Should be perfect? In one episode Absence,
- 0:31Speaker 1: there was no song. Are the song intro songs now
- 0:34Speaker 1: dead forever? Are people sick of them? Do they hate them?
- 0:37Speaker 2: They took it out?
- 0:39Speaker 1: True? True? We had a song yes, yes, yes, and.
- 0:42Speaker 2: The night and then with Sam Yeah we just didn't.
- 0:46Speaker 1: You just skipped it?
- 0:47Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 0:47Speaker 1: I mean why do the bare minimum of both work?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Two on the edge?
- 0:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 0:58Speaker 4: We did a song about us a gea, yeah, I
- 1:02Speaker 4: have a dia and we rhyme gia and diarrhea.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Geniusly it was beautiful lyrically perfect.
- 1:09Speaker 1: And it was said to Mama Mia.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Yeah here, no faults got on my end. No, but
- 1:15Speaker 4: gone use your imaginations and nothing.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Really rhymes wiz Verev. I did think of a I
- 1:21Speaker 1: chose Verv instead of I shot the sheriff, But I
- 1:25Speaker 1: did not choose CORBALI.
- 1:31Speaker 4: I think that maybe that's our future. We just work
- 1:33Speaker 4: out the song on the pod.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And so I did listen to the pod that I
- 1:38Speaker 1: missed on the plane home. Did you love it? You guys,
- 1:42Speaker 1: I've taught you well. I feel like a right, you
- 1:47Speaker 1: did great. It was great, even though you both referred
- 1:51Speaker 1: to matches as games the entire episode and drove me.
- 1:58Speaker 4: I apologize to the tennis community. I apologize to Kaboli's
- 2:03Speaker 4: fans as well.
- 2:05Speaker 1: What'd you do?
- 2:06Speaker 4: We talked about him in his press conference or no
- 2:09Speaker 4: on match interview. He said, I want to I was
- 2:12Speaker 4: so nervous, I wanted to shit on my pants.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Great.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Yeah, but that's awesome, I know. And then his fans
- 2:18Speaker 4: came for us. Really almost as bad as the picklebowler is. Oh,
- 2:23Speaker 4: I know, so all my all my comments on my Instagram,
- 2:26Speaker 4: I just don't hate pickleball. Cobol is the best. You
- 2:30Speaker 4: guys don't know what you're talking about. I'm like, what
- 2:32Speaker 4: is my What does my life come to you?
- 2:35Speaker 2: Why?
- 2:36Speaker 4: I don't care about it, but it's plaguing me every day.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I mean at least it's like kind of fun trivial things.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I mean on my Instagram, I get called.
- 2:46Speaker 4: It so.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Okay, So I listened. It was amazing. I was very jealous.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I was not here for the French open pods, especially
- 2:57Speaker 1: because our producer, the shanniml Broaden sweet treats French crapes
- 3:03Speaker 1: and bound brees cheese.
- 3:06Speaker 2: We had cheese one week, Oh my god, lemon tart slices,
- 3:09Speaker 2: all these all these beautiful, beautiful pastries. And I was
- 3:13Speaker 2: trying to be good.
- 3:13Speaker 1: You know, I noticed nothing today.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Yeah, well you did say before you left that you
- 3:19Speaker 4: were gonna watch your wet.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Oh god, I blew up in America. The serving sizes,
- 3:24Speaker 1: it's crazy, it's wild.
- 3:26Speaker 2: It's weird how you adjust to that serving size as well.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean multiple times I left a restaurant like
- 3:31Speaker 1: I could only stand at a right angle because I
- 3:35Speaker 1: was trying to like compress the food in my stomach
- 3:39Speaker 1: and the what Wimbledon's obviously, grass courts started immediately. Wimbledon's
- 3:43Speaker 1: right around the corner. But what most are you know,
- 3:47Speaker 1: producers bring in for Wimbledon?
- 3:49Speaker 2: Baked beans? Beans? We have a builder's breakfast, Yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Bubble and squeak, Yeah.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Get a pie, yeah, and a couple of cans of speckled.
- 4:02Speaker 1: In some used shoe. Now we're gonna get messages from
- 4:11Speaker 1: all our UK listeners. Yes, but I love that the
- 4:15Speaker 1: grass season starts.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Immediately immediately, so clay is done it.
- 4:20Speaker 1: You won't see we're out dirt surface until March of next.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Quick, isn't it. It's just done. So we're in.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Gross started, like I said, started immediately guard, yes, which
- 4:33Speaker 1: we'll get into. I mean we should probably recap the
- 4:35Speaker 1: big one first. Oh yeah, r G r G. French
- 4:39Speaker 1: Open was absolutely bonkers crazy.
- 4:44Speaker 2: I felt like it was real Kardashians vibe.
- 4:47Speaker 1: In terms of drama.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Okay, don't you think it was real, real reality.
- 4:54Speaker 1: A sex tape coming out?
- 4:56Speaker 4: No, no, she's one okay, yeah. Yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 1: It was the most amount of drama, chaos, unpredictability. When
- 5:04Speaker 1: we went in thinking it was the most predictable tournament ever,
- 5:07Speaker 1: that Center would just dominate, sable Anka would dominate. But
- 5:11Speaker 1: then as soon as Sinner went out in the first week,
- 5:15Speaker 1: and then Djokovic, it was and obviously Alca has not playing,
- 5:18Speaker 1: it was anybody's.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and you felt that everyone was like playing tennis
- 5:22Speaker 2: of their lives. I know.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Well. I love the the TFO comment in one of
- 5:28Speaker 1: his postmatch interviews where they said, you know, do you
- 5:31Speaker 1: think this is your tournament to win? Because you know,
- 5:34Speaker 1: obviously the big guys are all out and he was
- 5:37Speaker 1: the only one who was honest enough to go, well,
- 5:39Speaker 1: I losed all these other guys as well.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Good for him. Maybe he needs some of these books that.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Oh mental toughness, which were positioned near my seats when
- 5:52Speaker 1: I got into the studio. This okay, thirty to five
- 5:59Speaker 1: set matches, that is wild, I know. Apparently it's one
- 6:03Speaker 1: shy of the all time tournament, which was some US
- 6:06Speaker 1: Open I don't know, like decades ago.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Five set matches in really incredible heat as well.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we saw that with the biggest upset
- 6:15Speaker 1: of a center loosening, losing to Sarundelo and changing the
- 6:22Speaker 1: kind of shape of the whole tournament.
- 6:24Speaker 2: A lot of like mid match swings, the two sets up.
- 6:29Speaker 4: And then losing it, I know, and then like a
- 6:32Speaker 4: fit young player coming through.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. And the ultimately the tournament was won
- 6:39Speaker 1: by the world number three Sasha Zverev defeating Koboli.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I don't know, I thought the pressure would get to him.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I mean, okay, general thoughts about.
- 6:51Speaker 4: The final, like the fourth set, he looked so good,
- 6:54Speaker 4: Koboli and that was an incredible set.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Vera also starting to cramp up, yeah, move.
- 6:59Speaker 4: So well, Yeah, it could have been anyone's honestly, But
- 7:02Speaker 4: then then I think very just stayed calm. I think
- 7:07Speaker 4: Coboli had a few like crazy mishits, and I mean.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Some of those overhead smash yeah yeah, oh, I mean
- 7:16Speaker 1: it makes me feel better about my own limitations. But
- 7:20Speaker 1: some of those misses from Koboli. I was like, my
- 7:23Speaker 1: auntie Linda could hit that ball.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Shout out to Linda. It's true I could.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And this match was all over the place, like it
- 7:33Speaker 1: was obviously heavy on errors and nervousness, but I just
- 7:38Speaker 1: thought the level, like at one point it would be
- 7:40Speaker 1: an amazing rally and then the next it would be
- 7:43Speaker 1: the worst error scene, like it just a shanked backhand
- 7:47Speaker 1: or and it was coming off both the rackets and
- 7:49Speaker 1: very off. You could see tightening up and cramping in
- 7:53Speaker 1: the fourth the first set, okay, we could start from
- 7:55Speaker 1: the top six to one Koboli, I thought it was
- 7:58Speaker 1: going to be done under an hour, right, and then
- 8:02Speaker 1: he made it compelling at least, and that four set
- 8:05Speaker 1: tie break was probably the most interesting tennis.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it was really good.
- 8:10Speaker 1: So the fifth set, though, seemed to be a return
- 8:12Speaker 1: to the first unfortunately, and Kobali dropped off and Vera
- 8:16Speaker 1: ran away with it too much, too much.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Vera first Grand Slam. Will there be another one?
- 8:24Speaker 1: I mean, well, the stars align in such a way
- 8:27Speaker 1: that he doesn't have to face.
- 8:29Speaker 2: A little Stephen Bradbury.
- 8:34Speaker 1: For our international listeners.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Yeah, for a national listener. Stephen Bradbury is an Australian icon.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Look him up.
- 8:41Speaker 4: But he he famously he got into the final of
- 8:44Speaker 4: an ice skating speed ice skating event, which is incredible
- 8:47Speaker 4: to do to get into the final. But he won
- 8:50Speaker 4: gold because everyone fell in front of him.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but I feel like he had a dream, dreamy
- 8:59Speaker 2: run of course.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I mean, is there an asterisk next to this win?
- 9:03Speaker 1: Do you go? He didn't play Jokovic, he didn't play Center,
- 9:06Speaker 1: he didn't play Alcoraz, even though he's beat Alkoraz in
- 9:09Speaker 1: a couple of slams before, in quarterfinals and semifinals. I
- 9:13Speaker 1: just think he it is lucky.
- 9:15Speaker 4: But he's still still but yeah, he's still with the
- 9:18Speaker 4: number of three tennis player.
- 9:19Speaker 1: In the world. Yeah. Yeah, And he just could play
- 9:21Speaker 1: who was in front of him. You know, it wasn't
- 9:23Speaker 1: him going all play this person next. But if you
- 9:26Speaker 1: I mean, if you really break it down, he didn't
- 9:28Speaker 1: face a top ten player the tournament.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I mean that's dreamy. But then also Koboli
- 9:37Speaker 4: didn't play a game before sorry, didn't play a match.
- 9:42Speaker 1: It only took it only took fifty eight episodes.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Didn't buy a match before the final. He had to
- 9:50Speaker 2: walk over. Oh true, so he was rested.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Yeah, the Italian men, like I think the Italian Tennis
- 9:57Speaker 1: Federation has the strongest players, like the favorite for the
- 10:00Speaker 1: Davis Cup, surely, but then kind of they ship on
- 10:05Speaker 1: the bed at the and the tournament because Barattini goes
- 10:10Speaker 1: out with an injury, Arnaldi has some super flu that
- 10:15Speaker 1: it can't recover from. And then you know, Koboli didn't
- 10:18Speaker 1: really push it to the limit that I think he
- 10:22Speaker 1: could have in the fifth set of the final. So
- 10:24Speaker 1: I mean, awesome, they got that far, and there's that
- 10:26Speaker 1: many players like getting that deep in a tournament, and
- 10:29Speaker 1: that the Italians still have center, you know, I mean
- 10:31Speaker 1: kind of disappointing that the end of the tournament was
- 10:35Speaker 1: injuries and sickness and you know, whatever the rest was.
- 10:40Speaker 1: And yes, Verev now can not be part of the
- 10:45Speaker 1: conversation of the best male player to never win Islam.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, which goes back.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Now, poor Marcellus Rios is gonna wear that Mantle and yeah,
- 10:59Speaker 1: so he's he's got it. He's he was saying his
- 11:01Speaker 1: Olympic gold medal was more important, but I think he
- 11:04Speaker 1: was just kind of trying to convince himself.
- 11:06Speaker 2: I think this is more important.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Yeah, sure. Zvera becomes the first German Man to win
- 11:11Speaker 1: the French Open since nineteen thirty seven. There was a
- 11:15Speaker 1: long time that player was Kenner Henkel Henkle, which is
- 11:19Speaker 1: a very German sounding name.
- 11:21Speaker 2: So I love it.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Nineteen thirty seven, What a year for Germany. We'll leave
- 11:27Speaker 1: it there.
- 11:30Speaker 2: It was an interesting time.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I at no point thought Kaboli was
- 11:36Speaker 1: actually gonna win it, because Zverev gave a postmatch interview
- 11:40Speaker 1: where he said the cramping was the reason for his victory,
- 11:44Speaker 1: that it lit a fire under like just going for
- 11:47Speaker 1: it and absolutely yeah leathering the ball, which you could
- 11:50Speaker 1: see late in the match, he just starts ripping four
- 11:53Speaker 1: hands and backhands.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Into the corner because he wanted to get it over with.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I think he didn't want long points. Okay, it's a slower, longer,
- 12:02Speaker 1: grinding rallies, and so he's like, if I get a
- 12:04Speaker 1: ball that I can lay into, and then he was
- 12:07Speaker 1: just yeah, and he was hitting his face. You could
- 12:10Speaker 1: today I actually think that I want to be thow
- 12:12Speaker 1: the crowns. So what happens to Zvera from here? Does
- 12:15Speaker 1: he now have the confidence of winning a slam?
- 12:18Speaker 2: So he well, I feel like is yeah, he's lost
- 12:20Speaker 2: a bit of the voodoo around it, the curse.
- 12:23Speaker 4: The curse, so now he can maybe maybe he'll be
- 12:26Speaker 4: more relaxed going into Grand slams.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Right, Okay, so a real contender, he's going to push people.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And then yeah, I mean it's interesting because Dominic team
- 12:37Speaker 1: was watching.
- 12:38Speaker 2: From the Standah, what's the story.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Then he beats Verev in the weird covid Us Open
- 12:44Speaker 1: of twenty twenty when there's no one in the stands
- 12:47Speaker 1: from two sets down, and then z Vera of the
- 12:50Speaker 1: fifth set tiebreak, Dominic team wins their friends. But still,
- 12:55Speaker 1: I wouldn't want to be playing a slam final and
- 12:57Speaker 1: look over and see the guy I choke yeah to
- 13:01Speaker 1: mentally and my best chance? Yeah ever right, Yeah, it's
- 13:05Speaker 1: like we do the one point Slam next year and
- 13:07Speaker 1: you look over and hughes is it? Yeah?
- 13:10Speaker 4: I can just hear his little scratchy voice.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Yeah, So it'll be interesting to see uh, for the
- 13:27Speaker 1: rest of the season. I mean, as we know, Alcoraz
- 13:29Speaker 1: isn't playing grass, he's out for that. We won't see
- 13:33Speaker 1: him till the hard courts way, we'll see him and Sinner.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I went in for a little medical check up recently.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I don't think it's anything serious.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 13:43Speaker 4: It feels a little overhyped that he's just gone to
- 13:44Speaker 4: hospital twice, but that could mean anything. He's probably just
- 13:47Speaker 4: getting blood tests and yeah, I don't just different investigative stuff.
- 13:51Speaker 1: But I love it.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I love all the media out this Inner admitted to hospital.
- 13:57Speaker 2: He being admitted to hospital.
- 13:59Speaker 1: You just visited. He went in for a chuck up.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Yeah, he still wants electoralized from two weeks.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Yeah, he's taken Agassy's advice and hydrating weeks out from Wimbledon. Yeah,
- 14:10Speaker 1: so he's just he's just going to be a big
- 14:12Speaker 1: bag of water by the time he got to Yeah.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I mean Agasy had a lot of advice.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean it was also pretty legit.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I think what he said was was real.
- 14:23Speaker 4: It's like, if you're having hydration issues, that's pool.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, well we're paraphrasing Agacy. We do not believe
- 14:34Speaker 1: that here at Labor.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Love about two times slam champion on Sinna, we would
- 14:40Speaker 4: never say that redheads.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Are inferior athletes.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Ever, prosns cinner going out was huge.
- 14:52Speaker 1: It's got to be some form of hydration issue. And
- 14:54Speaker 1: there's no excuse for him to run into a wall
- 14:56Speaker 1: at hour forty five. Yeah. So Kabouli is only twenty
- 15:00Speaker 1: four years old. I see him getting far and more slams,
- 15:04Speaker 1: and you know, I think he's he's got that speed
- 15:08Speaker 1: and the fitness, and when he's hitting like his highest standard,
- 15:15Speaker 1: I think he's going to push the big guys. But
- 15:19Speaker 1: when he's muffing overheads, yeah that you know. I think
- 15:25Speaker 1: my auntie Linda could hit blindfold.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Yeah it's true, I could. Oh she's a great player.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I think Kabali looked a little bit just happy to
- 15:40Speaker 2: be there. Yeah, you know, I didn't see his like
- 15:43Speaker 2: fight come out. You know, he's winning, you know, and
- 15:47Speaker 2: there's like certain people that you're just watching like they
- 15:49Speaker 2: want to win. Oh yeah, he didn't look like that.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Like he was locked in.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, somebot likes definitely, but that that like really
- 15:57Speaker 4: like I just I just want to win, like I'll
- 15:59Speaker 4: do anything to win. He just looked a little bit too.
- 16:02Speaker 4: I'm just happy to be made the final, which is
- 16:04Speaker 4: also fair.
- 16:05Speaker 1: He said he was suffering some physical issues by the
- 16:08Speaker 1: fifth set, so I mean maybe that played into it.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I think Zverev's ultimate feeling was relief. Yeah, after finally
- 16:18Speaker 1: taking one, you could see he was like crying on
- 16:20Speaker 1: court and everything, and it's obviously huge for him and
- 16:23Speaker 1: his team.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Yeah, it was kind of a bit if you don't
- 16:27Speaker 4: like Zverev, then everyone was going for Koboli. But it
- 16:32Speaker 4: was just felt a bit andy climactic to one of
- 16:34Speaker 4: the most amazing, crazy Grand slams ever.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Well. I was thinking about that, that the insanity of
- 16:43Speaker 1: the first week and all the big upsets and huge
- 16:47Speaker 1: matches leads to finals like Vera versus Koboli and then
- 16:54Speaker 1: and the women's saw Mira Andreva versus Kwallenska, whereas last
- 17:00Speaker 1: year we had Sinner v Alcarez one of the best
- 17:03Speaker 1: men's finals of all time, and Sabolenka and Golf which
- 17:06Speaker 1: was awesome as well. So I think all the drama
- 17:09Speaker 1: early on is great, but then you pay the piper
- 17:12Speaker 1: at the end.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Yeah, what would you rather.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I'd rather, Yeah, I'd rather the finals be Alzheimer's.
- 17:21Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, interesting, Yeah, No, I think I love the drama.
- 17:25Speaker 4: I love like a couple of weeks of drama. Yeah,
- 17:28Speaker 4: and then just skip the final.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Which brings us to the women's draa Mira Andreva winning
- 17:36Speaker 1: her first ever Grand Slam in two sets against Maya
- 17:40Speaker 1: Kwalinska of Poland. I think the Kualinska story is the
- 17:46Speaker 1: good story of the tournament.
- 17:47Speaker 2: It's great from qualifier to the final.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Incredible because apparently there's never been a qualifier on the
- 17:55Speaker 1: men's side get through to a final, Okay, And the
- 17:57Speaker 1: only other time this has happened in the women's is
- 18:00Speaker 1: Emma Rodican, who ended up winning the USO.
- 18:02Speaker 2: She was eighteen or something.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy, so absolutely wild. I'm sure you've seen
- 18:07Speaker 1: all the pictures of Kolenska playing doubles with Nigo Shavontek.
- 18:12Speaker 1: She's just hard not to like.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and her game, she's fun.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Is beguiling. It is a lot of slice, a lot
- 18:22Speaker 1: of pushing balls, a lot of creativity. Yeah, and I
- 18:25Speaker 1: think it broke the brain of a lot of the
- 18:27Speaker 1: players leaning up to the final. But then Andreva was
- 18:30Speaker 1: just like, well, I'm just going to power her off
- 18:32Speaker 1: the court.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah, she's strong. Hey. Yeah for nineteen year old, she's
- 18:36Speaker 2: just such a force.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, I mean just already a huge serve. Yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 1: And I think it was windy as hell, and I
- 18:46Speaker 1: was worried it was going to be another like oh this.
- 18:49Speaker 1: You could see the dust blowing around, you could.
- 18:51Speaker 2: See Andreva's hair like just flipping around.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Yeah, but she handled it well. The high weird balls
- 18:57Speaker 1: Kuolenska was hitting at her and she was just like, well,
- 18:59Speaker 1: I'm just gonna hit the back.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:02Speaker 1: And uh, she played a great tournament. And then that's
- 19:06Speaker 1: the ups and downs of tennis from a few months ago,
- 19:09Speaker 1: going out and then early round at Indian Wells telling
- 19:12Speaker 1: the crowd to fuck off. Good, I know, how.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Good are teenagers? Yeah, I kind of love it though.
- 19:20Speaker 4: I love that she wears her hard sleeve and she
- 19:22Speaker 4: just she's really authentic person What.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Do you think about the dog in the player's box, you.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Fan emotional support dog. I'd love to bring my dog
- 19:33Speaker 4: to gigs personally.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Big true, you have a greyhound, a.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Big horse dog, so big, but yeah, I mean, yeah,
- 19:41Speaker 2: bring the dogs.
- 19:43Speaker 1: How do they keep it from barking? And surely that's hindrance.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it should be allowed.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Right, she should have got it out on court and
- 19:52Speaker 1: like at the end and then had it like to
- 19:55Speaker 1: really stamp her authority, had it drag its asshole across
- 19:59Speaker 1: the baseline.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Yeah, this is an honorable.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Yeah, this is territorial. This is my house.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Andreva only dropped one set the entire tournament. That was
- 20:13Speaker 1: in the second round, and she had the added pressure
- 20:16Speaker 1: of Brad Pitt watching from very close by.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Would she even know who Brad Pitt is?
- 20:22Speaker 1: Surely I don't know.
- 20:24Speaker 4: She's she's nineteen. Yeah, she wouldn't have grown up with
- 20:29Speaker 4: Brad Pitt.
- 20:30Speaker 5: What is he?
- 20:31Speaker 4: She would be like, Okay, that guy, that guy, Yeah,
- 20:35Speaker 4: I think I know who he is. Yeah, like what
- 20:37Speaker 4: has he done lately that she would know?
- 20:40Speaker 1: I mean, once upon a time in Hollywood was a
- 20:42Speaker 1: few years ago.
- 20:43Speaker 4: I don't know if Mira Andreva have you seen it?
- 20:50Speaker 1: She's more of a gossling girl.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Maybe that's probably yeah, I think that's even choice of Yeah, yeah,
- 21:02Speaker 4: I think she's Yeah, she's watching a summer pretty or euphoria.
- 21:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:08Speaker 1: If Jacob Alordie was watching.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Exactly, that's probably a little bit more okay.
- 21:14Speaker 1: And yeah, I just think brad.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Fleet, she definitely doesn't know. Please, she does not care
- 21:24Speaker 4: about the red Chili.
- 21:25Speaker 1: You don't think like when she walks on to court,
- 21:27Speaker 1: she's got her headphones on.
- 21:28Speaker 2: It's like kiss.
- 21:33Speaker 1: The bridge downtown.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Yeah, no, the French. Yeah, I know, I don't think.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I don't think she cares.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It's crazy. Yeah, I love it.
- 21:47Speaker 2: He's always here, He's always in Australia, is it?
- 21:50Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 21:52Speaker 2: Was he born a little fact?
- 21:54Speaker 4: He was born in Melin. Maybe you should come to
- 21:57Speaker 4: the Australian Open. He's probably been to the Australian.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but come uh interview on the pod.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Yeah we have men.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Yeah for sure, I'd love to talk to him.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I would actually yeah, I would love that.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Yeah. So Andreva winning the French dominent. Yes, but it's
- 22:17Speaker 1: interesting that Kalinska do we know whether she has to
- 22:21Speaker 1: now qualify for Wimbledon.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Well she's gone from like one hundred and something to
- 22:25Speaker 4: twenty something now. Yeah, like that that's insane. That's in
- 22:29Speaker 4: one tournament to go that many places.
- 22:32Speaker 1: And that she's earned more money this tournament than she
- 22:34Speaker 1: has in her career. Kind of it all rules. Yeah,
- 22:37Speaker 1: But there was talk of her having to now qualify
- 22:40Speaker 1: for Wimbledon, which is wild to go from a finalist
- 22:44Speaker 1: in a slam to then battling through and uh yeah,
- 22:48Speaker 1: we'll see if Savalanca bounces back for Wimbledon.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, she'd have. That was tough.
- 22:54Speaker 4: That was tough to watch, and she hated it. I
- 22:57Speaker 4: kind of I kind of love that they like how
- 22:59Speaker 4: you feeling. She's like, I don't want to quit.
- 23:01Speaker 2: No thoughts, no emotions, just want to quit tennis right now.
- 23:06Speaker 2: We'll see in a few days, hopefully I'll get back
- 23:08Speaker 2: on track.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, she since put up an Instagram post
- 23:12Speaker 1: saying definitely not quitting obviously. Yeah, and she's like hanging
- 23:16Speaker 1: out and it's not even a five star hotel, it's
- 23:18Speaker 1: like a ten star hotel. She's just lounging around. It's
- 23:22Speaker 1: like where they feed you grapes. And yeah, she's doing fine. Yeah,
- 23:28Speaker 1: but she had a rough exit, like being so far
- 23:33Speaker 1: ahead in that match against Schneider and then the wind
- 23:37Speaker 1: broke her brain. Yeah, and she was done.
- 23:39Speaker 2: She couldn't she couldn't handle it.
- 23:41Speaker 1: No.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like it's physically uncomfortable.
- 23:43Speaker 1: It's interesting that these top players have kryptonite. That's so obvious.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I mean center in the heat, yeah, and then sable
- 23:52Speaker 1: ink in the wind and Djokovic and.
- 23:58Speaker 2: It's true.
- 24:00Speaker 1: So yeah, there's your two champions, Mira Andreva and Alexander.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Who would have picked it? Who would have picked it?
- 24:06Speaker 1: Who would have picked it? I know imagine has never done.
- 24:10Speaker 1: And I almost shoot.
- 24:12Speaker 5: On my pants. Fans, fans, fans, fans, fans, fans, fans, fans, fans,
- 24:16Speaker 5: fan fence, fan Spence, I almost shot on my pants. Fans,
- 24:20Speaker 5: fan fence, fans, fence, fence, fans.
- 24:23Speaker 1: So now we turn our sights onto the grass, my
- 24:26Speaker 1: favorite tummy year besides the Australian Open, of course, on
- 24:29Speaker 1: the tennis calendar.
- 24:30Speaker 2: You love it.
- 24:30Speaker 1: You're a grass guy, grass guy, I love it?
- 24:34Speaker 2: What what what do you love about the grass?
- 24:35Speaker 1: The style of play, diving around out there. I love
- 24:40Speaker 1: clay is great, but there's many daytime clay matches where
- 24:44Speaker 1: you're struggling to see the ball. Oh okay, you know,
- 24:47Speaker 1: especially if there's a bit of sunlight and shade on
- 24:50Speaker 1: the court. Grass, I think it just pops, It fills
- 24:53Speaker 1: up the screen beautifully.
- 24:54Speaker 2: It looks beautiful.
- 24:56Speaker 1: And the like we touched on before, the grass court
- 24:59Speaker 1: tournaments are are aready in full swing. We have Curios
- 25:03Speaker 1: playing Quarantine Moute and fun. I love this fun.
- 25:08Speaker 4: Yeah, two of the most level headed guys.
- 25:12Speaker 1: And do you know who? He's playing doubles with Curios public.
- 25:17Speaker 1: So it's just like this is gonna be so entertaining.
- 25:20Speaker 1: All of this is great.
- 25:22Speaker 4: I want I want the Boom and Curios to like
- 25:24Speaker 4: turn on each other.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that could happen. Boobyas which sounds like a Greek
- 25:33Speaker 1: way to refer to breast.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Love big Boobyas.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Currios is back. Do you think he's annoyed that Serena's
- 25:47Speaker 1: comeback announcement has largely overshadowed.
- 25:50Speaker 4: His Yeah, yeah, probably he didn't get the hype. I mean, sorry,
- 25:55Speaker 4: but it's Serena and Curios. You never really you just
- 25:58Speaker 4: got injured and kind of couldn't play. Yeah, it's not
- 26:02Speaker 4: like he left and had a baby.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think, okay, well let's do this because
- 26:07Speaker 1: we got you know, obviously, Stuttgart Queen's a bunch of
- 26:10Speaker 1: other Stuttgart has now been relabeled as The Boss Opened.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Okay, well let's refer to it as The Boss Opened.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I I'm fascinated to see what you say here, Lizzie,
- 26:24Speaker 1: because your picks often baffle me hurdy, like at Wimbledon's.
- 26:39Speaker 2: All right, well, I'm still feeling my girls. Fiddlina Okay,
- 26:44Speaker 2: she's in good form, in great.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Form, looks really hungry, really fit, really strong. I still
- 26:51Speaker 4: would love to see her win.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Okay, on the men's side. On the men's side, oh,
- 26:57Speaker 1: let's do this, Heart says, Brain says.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Heart says, brain says, take your time.
- 27:13Speaker 1: People who listen to podcasts love.
- 27:17Speaker 2: I'm thinking, I don't know. Do I go golf? Will
- 27:22Speaker 2: Sabilenca be hungry?
- 27:25Speaker 1: The sabs? Yeah, okay, so heart's for Alina mine sads.
- 27:32Speaker 1: And then in the men's men's heart atomic he Lord,
- 27:40Speaker 1: I love him.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Oh, heart says heart says this is so hard.
- 27:52Speaker 2: I'd like to see singer come back.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, that might be a heart and mind crossing mind.
- 27:59Speaker 4: That's heart mind hot mind, Yeah, I think sinner. I'd
- 28:03Speaker 4: like to see him just do well.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Yeah, Djokovic, Djokovic is.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Actually sorry, Djokovic hot well. I want to see him
- 28:10Speaker 4: do the two five?
- 28:11Speaker 2: Yes, yes, mind.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Nice, I do like that. I'm gonna go on the
- 28:17Speaker 1: women's side, I'm gonna say heart, GoF mind Sablanca. On
- 28:24Speaker 1: the men's side, Heart, I would love to see a
- 28:33Speaker 1: young upstart taket. I'm gonna say, heart learner, t mind Sinner. Yeah, yeah,
- 28:44Speaker 1: we got to do heartmind.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Hot mind beautiful.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Oh. Also, this is our appeal to the new CEO
- 28:50Speaker 1: of Tennis Australia to send us to Wimbledon to comment
- 28:54Speaker 1: on all the matches and provide some hot content. And then,
- 28:58Speaker 1: speaking of hot content, here he is.
- 29:05Speaker 2: That's exactly what he looks like.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I believe it's.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Not even an impression. It's bus Yes, there he is,
- 29:11Speaker 1: looking jacked and oiled.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Up and ready to send.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Us to Yeah, he's got the golden racket there and yeah,
- 29:20Speaker 1: I think first.
- 29:21Speaker 2: On his busy, busy agenda.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Agenda of being the new CEO is sending podlavor Arena
- 29:26Speaker 1: to Wimbledon exactly to report from the field. I can't wait.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you bubble and squeak strawberizing crane. But you
- 29:38Speaker 2: don't really hear that accident at the tennis there.
- 29:42Speaker 1: To the Oh that's good.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Are you going to watch the tennis? Yes, I thought
- 29:46Speaker 2: i'd come up from Sorry to watch the tennis.
- 29:49Speaker 1: That's great.
- 29:52Speaker 6: You don't get people going, let's eat some beans.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Ah yeah. So that's our predictions for Wimbledon and we
- 30:04Speaker 1: can't wait. We are pumped. List send in what you
- 30:07Speaker 1: think to podlabor dot net dot dot com.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Goodlavor at tennis dot com dot a.
- 30:15Speaker 1: You send in your predictions and in.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Your love, send in your little.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Notes and go heart and mind like written mind. Yeah,
- 30:22Speaker 1: and if we like it, we'll read it out on
- 30:23Speaker 1: the next pod.
- 30:24Speaker 6: Okay on stamp duties too high.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Great segment, really loving it. It's approaching the net okay
- 30:49Speaker 2: sitsy pass.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Yes, obviously, like when they stay away they get deals
- 30:55Speaker 4: in hotels. They did it here in the Australian opening
- 30:58Speaker 4: though obviously it might get they might be able to
- 31:00Speaker 4: stay for free and then they have to do like
- 31:02Speaker 4: a video tour or a photo in.
- 31:03Speaker 2: The plugging the reception or whatever, plugging the place.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Anyway, he does this at High Stay Paris and it's
- 31:10Speaker 4: just city pass walking through the cleanest hotel room there.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Is like he's not even staying there.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Oh, he's definitely not staying in this room.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Well, I guess he went out in the second round,
- 31:23Speaker 1: so it's only.
- 31:23Speaker 4: What a couple of nights he was there maybe maybe
- 31:28Speaker 4: three or four nights.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Hi, how are you coming?
- 31:35Speaker 4: I think someone's just turned up at his house that
- 31:37Speaker 4: he met online.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Hi, welcome home. No one's He's like figuring out
- 31:42Speaker 1: where everything is. What a beautiful day? What's happening here?
- 31:54Speaker 5: Perfect timing?
- 31:55Speaker 2: And that's sick. That's the only bag he's got.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Okay, it's I just look it.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Firstly, it looks like he's met someone online. This is
- 32:09Speaker 4: the vibe I get, like off hinge or something and
- 32:13Speaker 4: show up and they're showing up. He's like, Hi, welcome
- 32:15Speaker 4: to my place. It's just a squeaky clean apartment.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Yeah. The tour itself is like he's like, oh, here's
- 32:25Speaker 1: a window.
- 32:25Speaker 2: It's it's funny. It's beautiful content.
- 32:27Speaker 1: It is beautiful.
- 32:28Speaker 4: The hotel was just like, all right, we're going to
- 32:30Speaker 4: make some content. He did not want to make the content.
- 32:33Speaker 1: And it is funny that the hotel would have had
- 32:35Speaker 1: to been like, you know, the day before the tournament,
- 32:38Speaker 1: like we have to shoot this now because you might
- 32:41Speaker 1: not be here in a couple of days.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Yeah, And they were right, Yeah, they were right.
- 32:45Speaker 1: He went out to Arnaldi in the second round. So yeah,
- 32:49Speaker 1: I'm sure I've always wondered about this with accommodation for
- 32:54Speaker 1: tennis players at tournaments. As soon as they lose, are
- 32:58Speaker 1: the hotels like, are right, well you got to go?
- 33:01Speaker 2: I think so, I think that's what happens.
- 33:03Speaker 1: They don't cover the two weeks.
- 33:04Speaker 2: No, it's out right, and then then they leave straight away.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Right. But what's the just is confusing to me because
- 33:13Speaker 1: how do you book a room?
- 33:15Speaker 2: You're worried about the hotels.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Vacancy? Well, I worry about Hilton and the Weston and
- 33:29Speaker 1: their their profit margin. Yeah.
- 33:33Speaker 4: I mean it's a genuine consent, see where you're coming from.
- 33:36Speaker 1: But I have to wonder if they're like, all right,
- 33:39Speaker 1: you got to get out. If as soon as you lose,
- 33:41Speaker 1: they're like all right, next day.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Flight okay, I think unless they're getting paid for by
- 33:46Speaker 4: the tournament.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, okay.
- 33:49Speaker 2: To stay on. Because like not a lot of this.
- 33:51Speaker 1: We befriended a few tennis players. What if we say, hey,
- 33:54Speaker 1: they we know they give two keys when you check in,
- 33:58Speaker 1: and if the room is covered for two weeks, on
- 34:01Speaker 1: the off chance you leave the tournament early, can I
- 34:03Speaker 1: just have the other key now and then have a
- 34:06Speaker 1: little staycation when you go.
- 34:08Speaker 4: And yeah, that wouldn't be That wouldn't be weird at all.
- 34:13Speaker 4: That wouldn't be weird if we if we just play
- 34:16Speaker 4: like a little ping pong with a top one tennis
- 34:20Speaker 4: layer and.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Then at the end just be like, hey, kind of out.
- 34:24Speaker 1: There, you know, wait wait, wait, wait, you're saying it's creepy.
- 34:29Speaker 1: If I'm like, excuse me, Anna Kellen Sky, can I
- 34:32Speaker 1: have your spare hotel room key?
- 34:35Speaker 2: It's it's out there. I'd love to see you try it.
- 34:38Speaker 2: I'd love to see you try it.
- 34:40Speaker 4: And then they and then them taking the effort to
- 34:42Speaker 4: come back to you, was like, oh wait, I was
- 34:44Speaker 4: going to check out, but I've got to give this
- 34:46Speaker 4: guy my room.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, he lives in Melbourne.
- 34:49Speaker 4: Yeah, but he wants to stay in my in my
- 34:52Speaker 4: dirty hotel room.
- 34:55Speaker 1: It's not dirty at all. Their hotel rooms are immaculate,
- 34:57Speaker 1: according to that video. And I think we don't wait,
- 35:02Speaker 1: we say, when they're in the studio for the interviews,
- 35:04Speaker 1: we say, hey, do you have a spare hotel key?
- 35:06Speaker 1: Can I have it under the proviso that I only
- 35:10Speaker 1: use it once I know you've left? Yeah, all right,
- 35:16Speaker 1: maybe it's weird.
- 35:17Speaker 2: It is. It's so weird. Even weirder is that you
- 35:21Speaker 2: if you got, say, if they gave you the spare key,
- 35:25Speaker 2: and then you go and use the room. You're just
- 35:28Speaker 2: in a dirty hotel room.
- 35:29Speaker 4: You're okay with that, sleeping in like di?
- 35:34Speaker 1: What else you go for?
- 35:35Speaker 4: Okay, this one I love. I don't know if you
- 35:37Speaker 4: saw this. During the French Open, they got some of
- 35:39Speaker 4: the players to do a SMA.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I don't like. Oh wow, it's like I'm speaking at
- 35:52Speaker 2: the someone's sort of a.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Media.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Then you do some sm for me?
- 36:07Speaker 1: What then asking people to whisper? It's creepier than me
- 36:11Speaker 1: asking for their spare hotel room game.
- 36:16Speaker 2: I don't think it is. It's creepy. Really well, then
- 36:23Speaker 2: they did stuff like this, Oh that's pretty good.
- 36:28Speaker 1: And what else is there?
- 36:31Speaker 2: What if.
- 36:35Speaker 4: That's my opening hotel room here?
- 36:44Speaker 2: I love it. That's cool. That's a cool idea.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I mean, I don't understand the whole as MR thing,
- 36:50Speaker 1: but no, do you listen?
- 36:53Speaker 4: I kind of, I kind of. I don't listen, but
- 36:56Speaker 4: I kind of love it. Yeah, I've got a little
- 36:59Speaker 4: as M thing at the moment. Oh gosh, should I
- 37:02Speaker 4: say I freeze cherry tomatoes? And then if you put
- 37:06Speaker 4: put them in your hand there.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Like you roll them around.
- 37:10Speaker 4: Yeah right, it's like it's like a really cool feeling.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, and then and then you eat them.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I use the wing cooking.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Okay, I mean, what a creepy episode. I imagining you
- 37:28Speaker 1: in your apartment alone, just like rolling around frozen.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Cherry tomatoes and just that's what I do at night.
- 37:35Speaker 1: My pretty, my pretty.
- 37:39Speaker 2: And they kind of make this. They say they sound
- 37:41Speaker 2: like plastic.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Right, Okay, Okay, that's interesting.
- 37:47Speaker 4: I don't know. I froze them because I wasn't going
- 37:49Speaker 4: to use them because they were about to go off.
- 37:51Speaker 2: And then when I went to use them, I was like, whoa,
- 37:55Speaker 2: this is cool.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a late edition of Dennis gets a little
- 38:08Speaker 2: bit angry.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Why do you have to film when I like, just
- 38:12Speaker 1: put the camera away please? Okay? Why do you have
- 38:14Speaker 1: to film me when I lose?
- 38:16Speaker 2: Well, they're just doing that job.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 38:19Speaker 2: I wouldn't mind it. Bomb on stage.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I have so many recorded bombs.
