Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Thanks Mike Lane. Cracking falling in that first game of
- 0:03Speaker 1: the road trip three to one to Nashville a couple
- 0:05Speaker 1: of nights ago, and listening to your postgame comments, you
- 0:08Speaker 1: felt that although the chance the goals didn't go in,
- 0:11Speaker 1: the chances were still there for Seattle. What did you
- 0:13Speaker 1: make of that performance in Nashville?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought we played pretty solid structurally. Defensively, we
- 0:19Speaker 2: were you know, we were we were pretty good, you know,
- 0:23Speaker 2: and the chances in the game were even. What we
- 0:28Speaker 2: need to do a better job of with this hockey team,
- 0:31Speaker 2: and we've harped on it all year long, is we've
- 0:35Speaker 2: got to get to the net. We had some great
- 0:37Speaker 2: scoring chances, but we need more net presence, you know,
- 0:40Speaker 2: and we continue to harp on it, and we're gonna
- 0:44Speaker 2: have to be better at it tonight.
- 0:46Speaker 1: You mentioned in the pre game that you wanted this
- 0:49Speaker 1: Cracking team to be better at the things that don't
- 0:52Speaker 1: require talent, the hard work that go into those dirty areas.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Did you see enough of that against the press?
- 0:58Speaker 2: I saw a lot of good things spreads, But again,
- 1:02Speaker 2: you know, when you're challenged to score goals, there's a
- 1:05Speaker 2: reason for it, and I think we can get more
- 1:07Speaker 2: net presence. So, you know, I wasn't happy with that
- 1:12Speaker 2: area of the game.
- 1:13Speaker 1: When you want to try to foster that better net presence,
- 1:16Speaker 1: is that a personal thing? Is that a will? Is
- 1:19Speaker 1: that something structurally that you can toy around with. What
- 1:23Speaker 1: can you do to get guys going to the front
- 1:26Speaker 1: of the net more?
- 1:27Speaker 2: Well, we have a structure that's in place for that
- 1:29Speaker 2: to happen, but it's got to be within the players DNA,
- 1:32Speaker 2: and you know it's not always there that way. We
- 1:40Speaker 2: have to, you know, we have to find people that
- 1:41Speaker 2: will go to the net a little more.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Here with the Columbus Blue Jackets to night, they're one
- 1:45Speaker 1: of the top teams in the NHL. The last couple
- 1:47Speaker 1: of weeks they've played themselves from going golfing to now
- 1:50Speaker 1: third place in the Metro Division with some really strong play. Again,
- 1:55Speaker 1: one of these teams you don't see that often. Crack
- 1:57Speaker 1: and I haven't played them since November. What have you
- 1:59Speaker 1: noticed about this Columbus team just from watching them and
- 2:01Speaker 1: doing your scouting.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Well, they're one of the best teams in the league
- 2:04Speaker 2: right now. I think they're eighteen to two and whatever.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Since you know, since their coaching change and they're big,
- 2:12Speaker 2: they're talented, and you know they go to the Nethart.
- 2:16Speaker 2: They've got a lot of veterans, They've got a real
- 2:20Speaker 2: good dynamic to their team, and they're tough. Olivia is
- 2:23Speaker 2: probably the toughest guy in the league. So you know,
- 2:26Speaker 2: they certainly have a lot of elements in play for them.
- 2:31Speaker 1: We're going to have to be at our best with
- 2:33Speaker 1: teams like Columbus who do have a lot of firepower.
- 2:36Speaker 1: You can throw Tampa in there. We'll see on this
- 2:38Speaker 1: road trip Edmonton. Also, do you throw or do you
- 2:41Speaker 1: try to be more physical? Do you put a physical
- 2:43Speaker 1: element a part of the game plan, Not saying that
- 2:46Speaker 1: you don't want to normally be physical, but against these
- 2:49Speaker 1: type of teams, do you stress the physical nature of
- 2:52Speaker 1: games a bit more to try and get teams off
- 2:55Speaker 1: their guard.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Well, I think that, you know, for us, the strength
- 3:00Speaker 2: to our game has to be, you know, using our feet. Certainly,
- 3:03Speaker 2: we want to be physical in battles, be physical in
- 3:06Speaker 2: the in the battle areas, the netfronts, you know, keeping
- 3:09Speaker 2: them away from our net and getting to the net. Uh,
- 3:13Speaker 2: you know, those are the physical aspects for for our
- 3:15Speaker 2: hockey team. You know, we've got to we've got to
- 3:19Speaker 2: play with pace as well.
