- 0:04Speaker 1: NFL Power Rankings is a production of the NFL in
- 0:07Speaker 1: partnership with iHeartRadio.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Hey there to you and yours happy soon to be
- 0:11Speaker 2: Week six. Welcome to the NFL Power Ranking Show here
- 0:15Speaker 2: at the NFL Past channel. Also a podcast downloader wherever
- 0:18Speaker 2: you can. My name is Andrews Siciliano. That right there
- 0:22Speaker 2: is Eric at home. We collectively are presented to you
- 0:25Speaker 2: by Energizer and we are thrilled. If you were to
- 0:27Speaker 2: get up to your screen right now, or maybe if
- 0:29Speaker 2: you're watching on like your tablet, your phone, to ever
- 0:31Speaker 2: take out your other device, Eric can scan that QR
- 0:35Speaker 2: code and see through officially now the quarter pole, your
- 0:40Speaker 2: power ranking genius.
- 0:42Speaker 3: How difficult was it for you this week?
- 0:46Speaker 4: It was pretty difficult, right, I mean, I wanted to
- 0:48Speaker 4: move the forty nine ers up.
- 0:49Speaker 5: There's nowhere else to put them though, right there at
- 0:51Speaker 5: the top spot.
- 0:52Speaker 4: But Dallas obviously coming in with a different difficult performance
- 0:55Speaker 4: there other teams struggled. I mean, let's get to the
- 0:58Speaker 4: Patriots eventually, but man, just the top to bottom.
- 1:01Speaker 5: There were a lot of changes this week.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Will be at the end of the show. I actually
- 1:06Speaker 2: can't believe they don't have them at the very end
- 1:08Speaker 2: of the show, but we'll get to that a little
- 1:11Speaker 2: bit later. You teased it right there. The forty nine
- 1:13Speaker 2: Ers are the number one team. Here are the new
- 1:15Speaker 2: rankings right now available on NFL dot com. San Francisco
- 1:19Speaker 2: stays at one, followed by Philly. Kansas City is down
- 1:24Speaker 2: from two. The Eagles and Chiefs swap Dolphins the Lions
- 1:28Speaker 2: into the top five, followed by the Bills, who lose
- 1:31Speaker 2: and lose Matt Mulano in the process. In London, the Jaguars,
- 1:36Speaker 2: the team that beat the Bills, are somehow a top seventeen.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Yikes, I don't see it.
- 1:40Speaker 2: And the Dallas Cowboys fall by three after getting stomped
- 1:44Speaker 2: upon by the forty nine Ers in the Game of
- 1:47Speaker 2: the week. Let's just call the forty nine Ers the
- 1:50Speaker 2: team of the week. The Team of the Week presented
- 1:53Speaker 2: by Truest. The road to the Super Bowl eric very
- 1:57Speaker 2: clearly now in the NFC at least. Don't get out
- 2:00Speaker 2: at me, Eagles fans. I know Week thirteen loans on
- 2:03Speaker 2: the calendar, but in my eyes it runs through Santa Clara.
- 2:08Speaker 2: They are the best team. I saw the Eagles in person.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I think San Francisco is better.
- 2:14Speaker 4: I do too, Andrew to this point, the evidence suggests
- 2:16Speaker 4: they're the most complete football team in the NFL right now. Offense, defense,
- 2:21Speaker 4: special teams. It's all clicking. And you know, even though
- 2:24Speaker 4: it was a close game in the third quarter against
- 2:26Speaker 4: the Cowboys, they very clearly had the edge throughout and
- 2:29Speaker 4: then put their foot down on the Cowboys next in
- 2:31Speaker 4: the in the third and fourth quarters. There so incredible
- 2:34Speaker 4: offensive performance and what a performance on defense only allowed
- 2:38Speaker 4: eight first downs, a couple of big plays, but for
- 2:40Speaker 4: the most part, a tremendous statement game from San Francisco.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Is Look, Dallas had stood toe to toe with some
- 2:47Speaker 4: pretty good teams, shown off with good defense, but San
- 2:50Speaker 4: Francisco said, no, we're just a class above you right now.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and what bothers me here too? And I know
- 2:57Speaker 2: we'll unpack the Cowboys a little bit more from a
- 2:59Speaker 2: Dallas perspective is that they talked this thing up like
- 3:01Speaker 2: it was their Super Bowl. And I remember Richard Sherman
- 3:04Speaker 2: of the Thursday Night the TNF Amazon postgame show. After
- 3:07Speaker 2: the bearstn the Commanders, Sherman, the former forty nine er, said, Hey,
- 3:12Speaker 2: this doesn't mean as much to the Niners as it
- 3:15Speaker 2: means to the Cowboys, almost like an NBA mid season
- 3:18Speaker 2: cross conference thing, right, like Lebron and the Cavaliers are
- 3:22Speaker 2: going to LA. It meant more for them than it
- 3:24Speaker 2: did for the Lakers, and the Lakers loss, they just kind.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Of shrugged their shoulders.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Well, well this when it didn't mean allegedly as much
- 3:31Speaker 2: for the forty nine Ers.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Was a one sided game that was.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Over early, and they are clearly the best team in
- 3:38Speaker 2: the NFL. Eagles fans now time to get angry. Week thirteen,
- 3:42Speaker 2: San Francisco goes to Philadelphia, hopefully with a healthy Brock
- 3:47Speaker 2: party this time. I was at so far where the
- 3:50Speaker 2: Rams and the Eagles traded punches throughout the first half,
- 3:54Speaker 2: and I mean that figuratively thirteen play drive followed by
- 3:57Speaker 2: a twelve play drive and then really the end of
- 4:00Speaker 2: the second quarter. Eric speaks volumes to how confident the
- 4:03Speaker 2: Eagles are. They went brotherly shove, push, push, with no
- 4:07Speaker 2: time left on the clock, got it and then dominated
- 4:09Speaker 2: the second half.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:11Speaker 4: I think one of the hallmarks of this team is
- 4:13Speaker 4: they have not played their best football yet, at least
- 4:16Speaker 4: not you know, when you compare it game to game consistency.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Wise to what they did a year ago.
- 4:21Speaker 4: But there's still five and zero and that aggressiveness that
- 4:23Speaker 4: you just pointed to, for me is one of the
- 4:25Speaker 4: big reasons why I moved them up, and I still
- 4:27Speaker 4: feel like, even not playing their best, the fact that
- 4:30Speaker 4: they could take chances, that Nick Siriana has faith in
- 4:33Speaker 4: his players.
- 4:34Speaker 5: To go for it.
- 4:35Speaker 4: I mean, what were they on their own twenty five
- 4:37Speaker 4: with about thirty something seconds left, they decided to go
- 4:39Speaker 4: down the field thirty two? Okay, I was close, and
- 4:42Speaker 4: finish it in style right with the play of the
- 4:45Speaker 4: year I guess, the controversial play of the year with
- 4:47Speaker 4: the brotherly shove. But they do it so well, right,
- 4:49Speaker 4: That is the secret weapon they have. They also have,
- 4:52Speaker 4: you know. I mean, I'd love to see their red
- 4:53Speaker 4: zone performance get better. But when you can continually drive
- 4:56Speaker 4: and drain teams down what they do offensively, it's a
- 5:00Speaker 4: tough tough team to beat. Even if, like you said earlier,
- 5:02Speaker 4: the forty nine ers just seem more complete the the
- 5:04Speaker 4: only two five and zero teams in football, they're both
- 5:06Speaker 4: pretty durned good.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Yeah, the only two undefeated teams in football are the
- 5:10Speaker 2: team's rank one to two in the New Power Rankings.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Can't really disagree. The Niners one and the Eagles number two.
- 5:16Speaker 2: And yes, even though it was a fairly even game
- 5:20Speaker 2: in the first half, the Philadelphia defense taken advantage of
- 5:23Speaker 2: times of the banked up offensive line. Notably, they're the
- 5:25Speaker 2: final Hassan Redick sack by the rookie Warren McClendon there
- 5:29Speaker 2: from Georgia forston right tackle. Their defense put the clamps
- 5:33Speaker 2: onto the second half and they shut the Rams down
- 5:34Speaker 2: just period, shut them down.
- 5:37Speaker 3: And Philadelphia is.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Now the number two team here as they are moving
- 5:41Speaker 2: up to from where they were a week ago. The
- 5:45Speaker 2: Lions are a top five team.
- 5:47Speaker 3: They're behind the.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Chiefs and the Dolphins. But the Detroit Lions are a
- 5:51Speaker 2: top five team. You put them in the top five
- 5:54Speaker 2: not because they beat some world class opponent. I'm gonna
- 5:59Speaker 2: guess Eric, you put them there because they did it
- 6:01Speaker 2: without Amen Ross Saint Brown, and they did it without
- 6:04Speaker 2: Jim Gibbs and Jamison Williams is barely in the conversation.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Yet they're still putting a forty.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Yeah, they have time to get Jmogo and obviously he
- 6:13Speaker 4: had a little bit of a slow, tough debut, but
- 6:15Speaker 4: that was probably expected given how much time he's missed.
- 6:17Speaker 4: You're right, you could lose two of your key offensive
- 6:20Speaker 4: cogs there, and amen, Rad and Engineer Gibbs has done
- 6:23Speaker 4: some nice things as a rookie and still be fine.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Sam Laporta steps up, you know, obviously, Josh Reynolds has
- 6:29Speaker 4: been a big part of what they've done. Jared Goff
- 6:31Speaker 4: still steady play the offensive line, taking over games. Now, look,
- 6:34Speaker 4: this is a Carolina team that has got a rookie
- 6:38Speaker 4: quarterback who's struggling. Frank Reich is under fire. They have
- 6:41Speaker 4: a million problems there at the other end of the
- 6:43Speaker 4: of the Power Raikings this week. But even still, I
- 6:46Speaker 4: thought it was a really impressive, clean performance. You could
- 6:49Speaker 4: easily see this as a little bit of a trap
- 6:51Speaker 4: game or a letdown game, or they could come out slowly.
- 6:53Speaker 5: That was not the case.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I think Dan Campbell's just really done a nice job
- 6:57Speaker 4: for all the you know, the jokes about decap biting
- 7:00Speaker 4: and all that stuff. He's kept this team focused eyes
- 7:03Speaker 4: on the prize. They didn't let Seattle loss affect them.
- 7:06Speaker 4: They moved on and they're just taking care of business
- 7:08Speaker 4: each every week. Now.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and this is a team that Lions fan Cynthonia
- 7:13Speaker 2: freelan wearing you know, a Lions Lion thing whatever that
- 7:17Speaker 2: was a couple of weeks ago as well, can legitimately
- 7:21Speaker 2: start buying playoff tickets for I.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Know that's ridiculous. Wait wait, wait, this.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Is a Lions team that isn't a flash in the pan.
- 7:30Speaker 2: This is a legitimate Lions team that you need to
- 7:34Speaker 2: ask right now? How many games can they win in
- 7:37Speaker 2: the postseason? That just will they get in? They're gonna
- 7:39Speaker 2: win the North, but how many games can they win
- 7:42Speaker 2: once they are in? And I know some Detroit fans
- 7:45Speaker 2: may push back against this because like you can't handle
- 7:48Speaker 2: the success, you're not used to it. Maybe you're just
- 7:50Speaker 2: crossing your fingers and just praying you get there. You're
- 7:53Speaker 2: gonna get there barring an injury.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Truly.
- 7:57Speaker 2: So we have the Lions there, and then after the
- 8:00Speaker 2: Lions we have the Bills, and then we have the
- 8:02Speaker 2: Jaguars at seven. Now to do the low hanging fruit,
- 8:05Speaker 2: how do you have the Jaguars here behind the Bills?
- 8:08Speaker 2: They beat the Bills. Whatever, I know, I'm gonna push
- 8:11Speaker 2: back Eric against the idea that Jacksonville is really this good.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I don't think that they are I mean they lost
- 8:20Speaker 2: at home to the Houston Texans, and it really wasn't
- 8:22Speaker 2: that close.
- 8:23Speaker 3: This is a big win.
- 8:24Speaker 2: You beat the Bills, but you had the decided advantage
- 8:27Speaker 2: and rest and acclimization there in London.
- 8:30Speaker 3: You really think that the seventh best team.
- 8:32Speaker 5: In football at this moment.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Look, I mean it's tough when you start sort of saying, look,
- 8:38Speaker 4: who are the Dallas Cowboys?
- 8:40Speaker 5: Right?
- 8:40Speaker 4: They're a team that obviously we had high favor high
- 8:43Speaker 4: regard for, I should say, last week. And you know,
- 8:45Speaker 4: Baltimore Ravens could have moved up with a win. They
- 8:48Speaker 4: failed to do so. So there are a lot of
- 8:50Speaker 4: other teams in that same region that failed. Does this
- 8:52Speaker 4: feel a little bit lofty for Jacksonville considering where they
- 8:55Speaker 4: were a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely, But we did
- 8:58Speaker 4: see that offense start to blossom a little bit. They're
- 9:00Speaker 4: gonna get healthier and more cohesive on that offensive line.
- 9:04Speaker 5: I think. I agree.
- 9:05Speaker 4: The Bill's traveling on Friday probably, you know, still yawning
- 9:08Speaker 4: mid first quarter during that game.
- 9:10Speaker 5: That played a factor. That came out flat. The Jaguars were.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Acclimated, So you know, I tried to factor all these
- 9:16Speaker 4: things in and I kept saying to myself, if you
- 9:19Speaker 4: just kind of look at the trend of where they've
- 9:21Speaker 4: been and where they are right now, two back to
- 9:23Speaker 4: back games, even if they did happen in London, they happened,
- 9:25Speaker 4: they played well. Let's cut down on the Sackson fumbles, Trevor.
- 9:29Speaker 4: But still I think this offense is ready to take off.
- 9:31Speaker 5: A little bit.
- 9:32Speaker 2: And Calvin Ridley took off at his first big game
- 9:35Speaker 2: since Week one. Travis Atn took off as well with
- 9:39Speaker 2: those two touchdowns, and they were able to close. Buffalo
- 9:42Speaker 2: hung around, made their push there in the second half,
- 9:45Speaker 2: but they were able to close, forcing the fumble there
- 9:47Speaker 2: at the end of the Trayvon Walker getting the recovery. Now, Eric,
- 9:50Speaker 2: let's ask the question that you asked just ninety seconds ago,
- 9:54Speaker 2: because I would love to know the answer.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Who are the Dallas Cowboys?
- 10:00Speaker 4: Man? I wish I could give you that answer right
- 10:03Speaker 4: now or fill it out in one hundred twenty five
- 10:05Speaker 4: words on my power ranking story.
- 10:07Speaker 5: It's a mystery right.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Now because Dak Prescott seemingly has taken a step back.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Tony Pollard, who was supposed to be the guy in
- 10:13Speaker 4: the wake of Zeke leaving, had the big fumble early
- 10:15Speaker 4: in the game. Offensive line not the unit we expected
- 10:19Speaker 4: it to be. And oh, by the way, this defense
- 10:21Speaker 4: that was so tremendous at times early in the season
- 10:23Speaker 4: had the one slip up in Arizona. But I think
- 10:26Speaker 4: we expected a better four quarter performance from them. Even
- 10:29Speaker 4: as good as the forty nine Ers are, granted, when
- 10:32Speaker 4: they have their four horsemen out there, they are tough
- 10:35Speaker 4: to beat. But Dallas seemed to kind of bring the
- 10:37Speaker 4: toughness to the game, but they couldn't.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Back it up.
- 10:39Speaker 4: It felt like they lost their composure a little bit
- 10:42Speaker 4: when they realized the forty nine Ers were just better
- 10:44Speaker 4: than them. They were beating them on the line of scrimmage,
- 10:46Speaker 4: they were more physical. And so this leaves me with
- 10:49Speaker 4: this question of hey, heading into this big game against
- 10:52Speaker 4: the Chargers, who had a week of rest, we now
- 10:54Speaker 4: have questions on special teams, Turpin is hurt, offense certainly
- 10:58Speaker 4: all the reasons we just mentioned, and then defense to
- 11:01Speaker 4: a unit that, frankly I didn't think we'd be poking
- 11:03Speaker 4: a ton of holes, but now injuries and ineffectiveness have
- 11:07Speaker 4: you know, kind of opened the door for that criticism.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yeah, imagine this conversation next week. If the Cowboys fall
- 11:13Speaker 2: to three and three and lose, they play Monday night.
- 11:15Speaker 2: As you mentioned here in La Sofi Sofi is right
- 11:18Speaker 2: there by the way. You can't see it, but it's
- 11:19Speaker 2: over my shoulder. If they lose to the Chargers in
- 11:22Speaker 2: the Kellen Moore Bowl on Monday night, imagine because Jerry
- 11:29Speaker 2: Jones went on the radio Tuesday morning he always does,
- 11:31Speaker 2: does the local radio thing there in Dallas, and he
- 11:34Speaker 2: said what you would expect. He still believes in dak
- 11:37Speaker 2: Prescott said all the right things, but he was actually asked,
- 11:41Speaker 2: would you push for Brian Schottenheimer to take over as
- 11:44Speaker 2: play caller and take that away from Mike McCarthy. Really like,
- 11:49Speaker 2: it's week six and we have already entered the why
- 11:53Speaker 2: isn't shoddy calling please? Part of the bingo card here
- 11:58Speaker 2: for the Cowboys that we inevitably knew we would eventually
- 12:02Speaker 2: get to. But it's week six and now if.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Callen Moore.
- 12:07Speaker 2: March is justin Herbert down the field. Mm hmmm, Eric,
- 12:11Speaker 2: this conversation will be fun next week.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Hey, Will, I'm sure Kellen watched what Kyle Shanahead dialed.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Have they have different systems, but I'm sure he's gonna
- 12:20Speaker 4: borrow a page or two from what he saw Sunday night.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Yeah, remember the old Oh McCarthy's back.
- 12:25Speaker 2: The Cowboys said it to me when I was there
- 12:26Speaker 2: in training camp or i TC for NFL Network. They said,
- 12:29Speaker 2: we're taking shots downfield. Man, we got speed, We're taking
- 12:34Speaker 2: shots downfield. I think dak is twenty third on yards
- 12:37Speaker 2: per attempt right now, something like that.
- 12:40Speaker 3: So that ain't what we got.
- 12:43Speaker 2: All right, We're the Ravens now after they dropped one
- 12:47Speaker 2: in Pittsburgh, they're gonna drop how far? We will tell
- 12:52Speaker 2: you coming up on the NFL Power Ranking Show presented
- 12:54Speaker 2: by Energizer. All right, you've seen the top eight of
- 12:58Speaker 2: the NFL Power Rankings presented by Energizer. Let's continue the
- 13:03Speaker 2: countdown with the Seattle Seahawks.
- 13:05Speaker 3: They were on a bye. They don't go anywhere.
- 13:07Speaker 2: The Ravens drop two after dropping everything in Pittsburgh. They're
- 13:12Speaker 2: now at number ten. Tampa Cleveland on a bye, Chargers
- 13:16Speaker 2: on a bye, Saints, Bengals, and the Atlanta Falcons want
- 13:22Speaker 2: to hit you on the Ravens.
- 13:23Speaker 4: There.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Eric at Hombo, by the way, puts together this list.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Check it all out of course on NFL dot Com.
- 13:29Speaker 2: The Ravens could have and should have beaten the Steelers
- 13:32Speaker 2: seven different times. Rashaan Bateman drops a touchdown, Mark Andrews
- 13:36Speaker 2: a touchdown through his hands as well.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Nelson Agalore drops a touchdown. TJ.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Watt punches a Flowers in the neck, it doesn't get flagged.
- 13:44Speaker 2: My point is they had that game, they should have
- 13:48Speaker 2: won that game. You still think they're a top ten team?
- 13:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, look, I again, it kind of goes
- 13:55Speaker 4: back to the conversation we had earlier about, boy, who
- 13:58Speaker 4: are the middle class teams that you think have the
- 14:00Speaker 4: chance to move into that top quartile, that top eight.
- 14:04Speaker 4: They're just aren't many this year, Andrew. I just feel
- 14:06Speaker 4: like it's a very top heavy and bottom heavy league
- 14:09Speaker 4: this year, and the middle class is kind of all
- 14:11Speaker 4: a wash.
- 14:12Speaker 5: So with Lamar Jackson and an evolving offense.
- 14:15Speaker 4: I guess the best way to kindly to describe what
- 14:17Speaker 4: they're doing right now, I would say, yes, by the
- 14:20Speaker 4: end of the season or by a certain point, they
- 14:22Speaker 4: could be better.
- 14:23Speaker 5: The fact that they've given.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Away two games now, the Colts game and then Sunday
- 14:27Speaker 4: at Pittsburgh in such improbable fashion. Right The first one
- 14:31Speaker 4: was a little bit fluky, and it did come to
- 14:33Speaker 4: a backup quarterback. But I think this one hurts more
- 14:35Speaker 4: because it's a divisional game, and like you said, all
- 14:38Speaker 4: the drop passes, all the opportunities, the block punt, Lamar's
- 14:42Speaker 4: two turnovers in the fourth quarter, everything just fell apart.
- 14:45Speaker 5: This is a game they should have won.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Look, I don't have a whole lot to stand on
- 14:49Speaker 4: here except the hope of John Harbaugh hopefully improve special
- 14:53Speaker 4: teams from that team, they're usually very good, and then
- 14:56Speaker 4: Jackson hitting his peak.
- 14:57Speaker 5: But it's been a little bit hot and cold from
- 15:00Speaker 5: them so far.
- 15:01Speaker 3: We'll get to the Steelers in a second.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Obviously, credit to them, and credit to Kenny pick four
- 15:05Speaker 2: once again finding away in the fourth quarter when for
- 15:07Speaker 2: three previous quarters the offense doesn't do much. But in
- 15:10Speaker 2: the end he finds George Pickens, who beats Marlin Humphrey,
- 15:13Speaker 2: your best corner. I'm really one of your only healthy
- 15:16Speaker 2: defensive macs with Kyle Hamilton, and you win the game,
- 15:19Speaker 2: So good for you. By the time you see this
- 15:21Speaker 2: show or listen to this podcast, the Ravens will likely
- 15:24Speaker 2: be at thirty eight thousand feet on their way to
- 15:26Speaker 2: London because.
- 15:27Speaker 3: They are live on NFL Network.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Coming up on Sunday, it's the Ravens End the Titans,
- 15:33Speaker 2: NFL Network, NFL Plus. Rich Eysen, Kurt Warner, Jamie Erdahl
- 15:39Speaker 2: on the call, and remember nine to thirty Eastern times
- 15:42Speaker 2: seven o'clock NFL Game Day kickoff.
- 15:44Speaker 3: You can stream it on NFL Plus or.
- 15:46Speaker 2: If you have one of these like regular TVs, just
- 15:48Speaker 2: watch it a NFL Network.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Cool. Okay, Cool. Let's get to the Saints, because you
- 15:54Speaker 3: moved them up for Eric.
- 15:56Speaker 2: They're fourteen behind the Chargers and the Browns and the Bucks,
- 15:59Speaker 2: who were all on buys. Fourteen means you think they're
- 16:03Speaker 2: a playoff team. That's a pretty big jump for beating
- 16:10Speaker 2: one of, if not the worst teams in football in
- 16:14Speaker 2: the Patriots. Granted they did it resoundingly right, game was
- 16:17Speaker 2: never in doubt.
- 16:18Speaker 3: But you're moving them up for beating the Patriots.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Used to mean something, right, especially anyone they were coming
- 16:26Speaker 4: off a loss. Does not anymore, but it means something
- 16:30Speaker 4: for the Saints, who you know, are coming off the
- 16:31Speaker 4: disappointing game against Tampa at home. You know, I think
- 16:34Speaker 4: the defense had turned in its worst effort of the year.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Wasn't bad, but really the emphasis was on can this
- 16:40Speaker 4: offense go out and score points? At least we could
- 16:43Speaker 4: say for a while that New England had a pretty
- 16:45Speaker 4: stout defense. I mean, look, they did as good a
- 16:48Speaker 4: job as you could ever imagine against Miami given their personnel.
- 16:51Speaker 4: You know, still held some teams down prior to the
- 16:54Speaker 4: Dallas game. So they went in there and had a
- 16:56Speaker 4: very efficient day. We saw Michael Thomas step up, you know,
- 16:59Speaker 4: we saw Rashid Shaheed have a little.
- 17:01Speaker 5: Bit bigger role.
- 17:02Speaker 4: They were a little bit more aggressive until they built
- 17:04Speaker 4: that twenty four to nothing lead and Bill Belichick said,
- 17:06Speaker 4: all right, I'm in your territory.
- 17:08Speaker 5: I've got fourth and short. I'm gonna punt it.
- 17:11Speaker 4: That was when the Saints said, okay, we can be
- 17:13Speaker 4: conservative too, So I didn't mind them.
- 17:16Speaker 5: Putting it on ice at the end there.
- 17:18Speaker 4: And you know, we'll see Derek Carr look looking better too,
- 17:21Speaker 4: after a week when we weren't sure he was going to.
- 17:23Speaker 5: Play against Staffa. So these are all good developments, I.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Think, and the Patriots are a shell of their former
- 17:29Speaker 2: selves without Matthew Judah and Christian Gonzales make the case
- 17:33Speaker 2: their best two defensive players, even though one is only
- 17:35Speaker 2: a rookie has only played.
- 17:36Speaker 3: A month in this league.
- 17:37Speaker 2: But with those guys out long term, I don't know
- 17:40Speaker 2: where New England goes. They're kind of stuck in no
- 17:43Speaker 2: man's land where they're not going to be bad enough
- 17:45Speaker 2: to get Drake may or Caleb Williams, certainly, but you're
- 17:49Speaker 2: not going to be good enough to be able to
- 17:51Speaker 2: dig yourself out of this without some masterful moves in
- 17:54Speaker 2: the off season. We're already talking off season here, two weeks,
- 17:58Speaker 2: three weeks before Halloween. Anyway for the Patriots, Wow, all right,
- 18:03Speaker 2: time for future champions out of by FanDuel. Let's get
- 18:05Speaker 2: to the Cincinnati Bengals, Eric, Believe it or not, they
- 18:09Speaker 2: have the longest odds to win the AFC North right now,
- 18:13Speaker 2: Ravenstole in the driver's seat, the PJ Walker Cleveland Brown's
- 18:17Speaker 2: sitting there at number two if Deshaun Watson cannot go,
- 18:19Speaker 2: and then the Steelers.
- 18:21Speaker 3: At number three.
- 18:22Speaker 2: But after Joe Burrow answered yes like a definitive yes
- 18:28Speaker 2: when asked this past week, is this a must win game?
- 18:32Speaker 2: He went out there and threw three touchdowns and you
- 18:35Speaker 2: have the Bengals now from twenty up to fifteen.
- 18:37Speaker 3: I don't care that they want.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Although it's significant, the most important development here is that
- 18:42Speaker 2: he moved around and looked normal.
- 18:46Speaker 5: Yeah, you could see it on the first drive, right.
- 18:48Speaker 4: I wasn't one hundred percent sure that the you know,
- 18:50Speaker 4: the cap was magically healed. But by that touchdown pass
- 18:53Speaker 4: that ended the first drive and kind of set the
- 18:56Speaker 4: tone for the game.
- 18:57Speaker 5: You get Jamar Chase.
- 18:58Speaker 4: He had a huge game. You get him involved. I
- 19:00Speaker 4: felt pretty good about it. I felt great about it
- 19:02Speaker 4: by the end of the third quarter. Right, I mean,
- 19:04Speaker 4: he's had the ball fifty times or whatever, and he
- 19:07Speaker 4: takes off for a ten yard scramble.
- 19:08Speaker 5: That's an important part of his.
- 19:09Speaker 4: Game, being able to get out of pressure which is
- 19:12Speaker 4: always swarming around him. Right, he can be that sneaky
- 19:15Speaker 4: effective runner and so being able to pick up a
- 19:17Speaker 4: first down late in a game like that told me
- 19:20Speaker 4: he was back. So Yes, big strides on offense. However, Andrew,
- 19:24Speaker 4: I'm still worried.
- 19:25Speaker 5: About this defense.
- 19:26Speaker 4: Fifteen might be too high if the defense continues to
- 19:29Speaker 4: play the way it did. Yeah, Camp Taylor Britt had
- 19:31Speaker 4: to pick six. They did have three turnovers total. They
- 19:34Speaker 4: got to the to the quarterback. But I don't like
- 19:37Speaker 4: the run fits. I don't like the tackling. It's been
- 19:40Speaker 4: very sloppy. They gave up too many explosive plays in
- 19:43Speaker 4: that game. But you know, right now, I still feel
- 19:47Speaker 4: like there's a chance that they make a run. It's
- 19:49Speaker 4: not going to look like last year maybe, but it
- 19:51Speaker 4: is still going to be a team that you have
- 19:52Speaker 4: to fear on a daily, on a weekly basis, and
- 19:55Speaker 4: good one against Seattle next week will tell us where
- 19:57Speaker 4: they really are, I think in the big picture.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a tough one with Seattle well rested coming
- 20:02Speaker 2: off the vibe. The name is in Cincinnati again the
- 20:04Speaker 2: biggest headline here. As you said, Joe Burrow looked okay,
- 20:07Speaker 2: he moved around, he had a little swagger, he had
- 20:10Speaker 2: that little hop step. He looked good. And Jamar Chase
- 20:13Speaker 2: had fifteen and then tweeted afterwards a picture of a
- 20:16Speaker 2: seven to eleven.
- 20:17Speaker 5: He is he is always open, always open.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Coming up the bottom half of the Power Rankings, Eric
- 20:24Speaker 2: doesn't say your season is over, He just wants to
- 20:27Speaker 2: see more. If you haven't heard your team's name yet,
- 20:32Speaker 2: please stick around. On the NFL Power Rankings Show, presented
- 20:34Speaker 2: by Energizer, It's the NFL Power Ranking Show, here presented
- 20:40Speaker 2: by Energizer.
- 20:41Speaker 3: The Indianapolis Colts are moving up nine nine.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Green Bay drops four after losing Monday night in Vegas.
- 20:49Speaker 2: We got the Jets going nowhere, the Steelers going up, Texans, Rams, Titans,
- 20:54Speaker 2: and the Vikings round out seventeen through twenty four. Time
- 21:00Speaker 2: for some power moves, presented by Energizer. Zach Voss is
- 21:06Speaker 2: third of the NFL and a rushing once he getting
- 21:08Speaker 2: paid up nine even with Eric the prospect here of
- 21:13Speaker 2: a long term Gardner Minshew appearance, including this week in Jacksonville.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Yeah, well, the Indiana National Guard was threatening to invade
- 21:22Speaker 4: Illinois if I didn't move him up. I hear you,
- 21:23Speaker 4: Colts fans, your team is pretty good this year, right,
- 21:26Speaker 4: So I finally gave them the respect that they probably
- 21:28Speaker 4: deserved a little bit early. So a little bit of
- 21:31Speaker 4: a sort of bookkeeping move here. But still, look, they
- 21:34Speaker 4: went out and out tightened the Titans last week.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Right.
- 21:36Speaker 4: They won the battle up front, the line of scrimmage.
- 21:39Speaker 4: That's what Mike Rabel tries to win games with. The
- 21:42Speaker 4: Colts flipped the script on him. I think Shane Slechin's
- 21:44Speaker 4: done a really good job and he's gonna have to
- 21:46Speaker 4: as you mentioned, Anthony Richardson's injury out probably a month
- 21:49Speaker 4: or more. But look, he said, Gardner Minshew was in
- 21:53Speaker 4: his mind, one of the best backups in the league,
- 21:55Speaker 4: if not the best backup, and he helped deliver a
- 21:57Speaker 4: big win in Indy. He's come in and relief in
- 21:59Speaker 4: a number of games here taking place of Richardson, and
- 22:02Speaker 4: he's got hurt. The defense comes up with time plays
- 22:04Speaker 4: and Moss is filled in beautifully for Taylor. So now
- 22:07Speaker 4: you get the two of them together that could help
- 22:09Speaker 4: offset the loss of the quarterback. And yeah, it's gonna
- 22:12Speaker 4: be fun to see where this team goes after such
- 22:14Speaker 4: a disastrous twenty twenty two season.
- 22:17Speaker 2: It is the Gardner Minshew revenge game this week as
- 22:21Speaker 2: Colts head to Jacksonville. Let's jump to the Steelers. They're
- 22:25Speaker 2: up three, they are number twenty. They're in first in
- 22:29Speaker 2: the best division for my money, the NFL, the NFC,
- 22:32Speaker 2: the AFC North, the Beggar pardon sorry, NFC East. You
- 22:35Speaker 2: have the first place team of the AFC North at twenty.
- 22:39Speaker 4: Eric, Yeah, it's it's you know, you can't tell the
- 22:45Speaker 4: story of the Steelers without mentioning. Look their minus thirty
- 22:48Speaker 4: two in point differential. Right, they've had the bad loss
- 22:51Speaker 4: in Houston, They've had plenty of slip ups.
- 22:53Speaker 5: The forty nine Ers.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Certainly took care of business, but they've won game. Said
- 22:58Speaker 4: I didn't think they were capable of winning. You got
- 23:01Speaker 4: a credit, Mike Tomlin, You got a credit Kenny Pickett. Look,
- 23:03Speaker 4: he wasn't even sure to play last week, and as
- 23:06Speaker 4: badly as he struggled for most of the game, he
- 23:09Speaker 4: found George Pickens's time and time again. They got finally
- 23:13Speaker 4: Jalen Warren involved in. They had a couple of the
- 23:15Speaker 4: great plays at the end of that game, and then
- 23:17Speaker 4: the big block punt. I thought kind of turned the
- 23:19Speaker 4: tide a little. So timely plays when you have to
- 23:21Speaker 4: have them. That defense was on song as well.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Yep.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Offense not good, defense still very good. And the Steelers
- 23:27Speaker 2: are up three to number twenty. Now the rest, not
- 23:31Speaker 2: the best of the rest, but just the rest. The Raiders,
- 23:34Speaker 2: the Commanders disappointing, the Cardinals, the Broncos, the Patriots, the Bears,
- 23:38Speaker 2: the Giants, and the Panthers. Why aren't the Patriots at
- 23:41Speaker 2: thirty two?
- 23:42Speaker 4: Eric Bill Belichicks were of the great coaches of all time.
- 23:45Speaker 4: What we've seen in the last two weeks is unlike
- 23:47Speaker 4: anything we've really seen from him in his career. I
- 23:50Speaker 4: would be shocked if he went out just punting on
- 23:53Speaker 4: fourth and short down twenty four to nothing every week.
- 23:56Speaker 5: Is it bad?
- 23:56Speaker 3: Yes?
- 23:57Speaker 5: Are they sticking with Mac? Yeah, which makes me worry
- 23:59Speaker 5: a little bit, But I don't know what other choice
- 24:01Speaker 5: they have.
- 24:02Speaker 4: They may have long term plans that involve a draft
- 24:05Speaker 4: quarterback next spring, but right now that's not going to
- 24:07Speaker 4: fix someone.
- 24:08Speaker 5: Andrew.
- 24:09Speaker 4: I don't know if there's solutions on this roster with
- 24:11Speaker 4: all the injured players you mentioned earlier in the show.
- 24:13Speaker 3: And this week they go to Vegas for the Bellagi
- 24:16Speaker 3: then Josh McDaniel's Bowl.
- 24:18Speaker 2: McDaniels asked about it Tuesday and he said, quote, that
- 24:21Speaker 2: horse is dead, he said, in other words, we've beaten
- 24:23Speaker 2: that horse to death.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Don't ask me about that topic anymore. Yeah, interesting way
- 24:28Speaker 3: to say it for.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Eric, get home. I'm Andrews Sociliano. Those are your power
- 24:31Speaker 2: rankings heading into week six. Enjoy week since everyone download
