- 0:12Speaker 2: Good did you feel after last night? The Krakens certainly
- 0:15Speaker 2: did in a big night from their new Florida. Now
- 0:19Speaker 2: it is all about turning the page as they get
- 0:21Speaker 2: set for the Florida Panthers, opening up a two game
- 0:24Speaker 2: homestand and the second game up back to back face
- 0:28Speaker 2: off is F five from Climate Pledgerina. First of two
- 0:31Speaker 2: matchups here against the Panthers. We'll talk more about it

- 1:00Speaker 2: Looking forward to more here on this drop coming up.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Reaction from Lane Lambert after last night's win in Vancouver.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Bobby McMahon also making a gigantic impression. Plus we will
- 1:11Speaker 2: catch up with Doug Plagans of the Florida Panthers Radio
- 1:15Speaker 2: Network and a preview of who is rolling in with
- 1:17Speaker 2: the Panthers team right now in danger of missing the
- 1:21Speaker 2: postseason right now. Eleven points out a star contrast from
- 1:25Speaker 2: where they were after back to back Stanley Cup championships
- 1:30Speaker 2: from this last season. Doug Plagans joining us in.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Just a bit.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Well, the Kraken pulled off a five to two victory
- 1:37Speaker 2: over the Vancouver Canucks because this guy came storming right
- 1:42Speaker 2: out of the gates.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Now a three on two for Seattle back in, but
- 1:45Speaker 4: here's near side heaverly tipped in front. Mcmah scors, Bobby
- 1:53Speaker 4: McMahon scores again. He's got two and the Kraken go
- 1:59Speaker 4: up four water with fifteen forty six to play the third.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Well, it's Jordan Eberley down that right side and feeds
- 2:07Speaker 5: Matty Veneers with a great pass Feberty back to Bobby
- 2:12Speaker 5: McMahon and he puts it behind Tolopio and that is
- 2:15Speaker 5: the fourth goal of the game for the Krack and
- 2:17Speaker 5: they're up for to one from Bobby McMahon.
- 2:20Speaker 3: That was a nice goal.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Mark it down is a smashing success for a new
- 2:24Speaker 2: top line and a new player as well. In the mix,
- 2:27Speaker 2: Bobby McMahon, eight days after he was acquired via the
- 2:31Speaker 2: trade deadline from Toronto, became the first player in crake
- 2:34Speaker 2: in history to score multiple goals in his debut with
- 2:39Speaker 2: the franchise. He Maddy Veneers and Jordan Everley combining to
- 2:44Speaker 2: rack up a wopping nine points in a five to
- 2:47Speaker 2: two victory over the Vancouver Canucks. The Kraken never trailed,
- 2:51Speaker 2: and McMahon for good measure his first goal that turned
- 2:54Speaker 2: out to be the eventual game winner, as the Kraken
- 2:57Speaker 2: took three of four from Vancouver.
- 3:00Speaker 3: In the head to head series.
- 3:02Speaker 2: After the win, here's a reaction from McMahon back of
- 3:05Speaker 2: the crack addressing room.
- 3:06Speaker 6: But that was a fun one. It's it's always nice
- 3:10Speaker 6: to get the win, and then when you contribute, it
- 3:11Speaker 6: makes it that much better.
- 3:13Speaker 7: Considering it's coming with a brand new team. That one's
- 3:16Speaker 7: probably gonna stick with you for a while, isn't it
- 3:17Speaker 7: when you when you look back on things years from now.
- 3:19Speaker 6: Yeah, Yeah, it almost resembles in a way like your
- 3:23Speaker 6: first game. Like he got entirely new group, new organization,
- 3:26Speaker 6: new fans. You want to make a great first impression.
- 3:30Speaker 6: Sometimes things go your way a little bit more than
- 3:32Speaker 6: the other nights, and luckily that was tonight for me.
- 3:34Speaker 7: Was there some debate with Shane on whose goal that
- 3:37Speaker 7: was on the first one?
- 3:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't know.
- 3:40Speaker 6: I thought he tipped it maybe because then I didn't
- 3:42Speaker 6: know if that one was going in with the shot
- 3:44Speaker 6: that I had, so it was more of a pass
- 3:46Speaker 6: to him. But I think it just fooled the coaliecause
- 3:48Speaker 6: I think you just missed it kind of thing and
- 3:49Speaker 6: trickled in.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Well, a new team for you, new line mates, But
- 3:53Speaker 5: how to Ebs and Maddie make that a little bit
- 3:55Speaker 5: easier for you?
- 3:57Speaker 6: Yeah, those two control the play so well when the
- 4:00Speaker 6: pucks on their stick, They're just so dynamic and unpredictable
- 4:04Speaker 6: for the other team. So I'm just trying to get
- 4:05Speaker 6: open for those guys. Ebbs is so good at fining
- 4:07Speaker 6: pockets around the ice, making those couple slip passes tonight
- 4:11Speaker 6: through guys likes that's that's easy hockey when he's doing that.
- 4:14Speaker 6: So he's he's a great player to play with him.
- 4:16Speaker 6: Maddie was just a workhorse tonight.
- 4:18Speaker 5: It's something like that.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Do you look at film or do you watch how
- 4:21Speaker 1: these guys played before tonight?
- 4:23Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it's more more of a feel than anything.
- 4:25Speaker 6: But I was able to watch a little bit while
- 4:27Speaker 6: I was sitting out there for a few games, trying
- 4:29Speaker 6: to get a feel a little bit. But it's just
- 4:30Speaker 6: nice to get out there with them.
- 4:33Speaker 7: I mean, I know you've been around the team here
- 4:35Speaker 7: for the last week. Did you sense the mood starting
- 4:38Speaker 7: to get a little bit heavy with the losses.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Kind of piling up?
- 4:40Speaker 7: And just how big of a release does a feel
- 4:43Speaker 7: for the team tonight?
- 4:44Speaker 6: I think the guys did a good job of kind
- 4:46Speaker 6: of sticking with the course. Obviously, they with Lane and
- 4:49Speaker 6: everybody kind of revisited what was happening and what was
- 4:52Speaker 6: going on, But it wasn't changing anything. It was kind
- 4:53Speaker 6: of trusting that process of how things have gone throughout
- 4:56Speaker 6: the year and knowing that if we stick with it,
- 4:58Speaker 6: it's gonna it'll come. And just get to to work
- 5:00Speaker 6: and find our way and know what's happening at tonight.
- 5:03Speaker 3: You guys down low low high stuff like that.
- 5:05Speaker 5: Is that anything to do with the priestcote on him
- 5:08Speaker 5: or them, or just how you guys select to attack.
- 5:10Speaker 6: I think it works a little bit better against this
- 5:12Speaker 6: team tonight. They pack it in pretty tight, so we
- 5:14Speaker 6: were able to kind of work it on the outside.
- 5:16Speaker 6: I think the hardest part is getting through the middle
- 5:18Speaker 6: on these guys, and we're able to do that a
- 5:20Speaker 6: few times, and when we did end up in the
- 5:21Speaker 6: back of the net.
- 5:22Speaker 2: So what appears. Any signs of RUSS were very short lived,
- 5:26Speaker 2: as McMahon Vanier's and Everly got cooking very early and
- 5:29Speaker 2: the Kraken getting a much crucial two points in a
- 5:32Speaker 2: game where they had to get restored confidence quickly after
- 5:36Speaker 2: falling five to one to Colorado back on Thursday, raising
- 5:40Speaker 2: questions of could the Kraken keep their poise in these
- 5:43Speaker 2: kind of games during the stretch drive. This time, they
- 5:47Speaker 2: gathered themselves and now are ready for back to back
- 5:50Speaker 2: games at home against Florida and Tampa Bay. Certainly it
- 5:54Speaker 2: will not be an easy task, but the Kraken know
- 5:57Speaker 2: that they're in a position to keep fighting for a
- 6:00Speaker 2: playoff spot where anything could happen. Right now one point
- 6:04Speaker 2: back of the final wildcard spot held by the San
- 6:07Speaker 2: Jose Sharks, and still right now pointing total that's sixty
- 6:11Speaker 2: nine points, them seven points back in the Vegas Golden
- 6:14Speaker 2: Knights for first place in the Pacific Division as Vegas
- 6:18Speaker 2: Beach Chicago, and still it is as tight as ever
- 6:21Speaker 2: right now. In the Western Conference, there's more reaction from
- 6:24Speaker 2: CRACKINGET coach Lane Lambert.
- 6:26Speaker 8: I thought we were pretty committed in almost every area,
- 6:29Speaker 8: right you know, we kept our foot on the gas,
- 6:33Speaker 8: and I thought we made more places tonight. I thought,
- 6:37Speaker 8: you know, we had a couple of moments in the
- 6:40Speaker 8: defensive zone, certainly in the first period after they scored
- 6:42Speaker 8: the first goal. We were fortunate they didn't score another
- 6:44Speaker 8: one right away. Group became up big for us. But
- 6:46Speaker 8: for the most part, our commitment level was good in
- 6:49Speaker 8: the defensive zone, so you know, I thought was much
- 6:52Speaker 8: better game for us. Obviously, Bobby McMahon making his debut tonight,
- 6:56Speaker 8: just your thoughts on how he played, Yeah, I mean,
- 7:00Speaker 8: you know, I thought you saw it right away for
- 7:02Speaker 8: a shift when he's tracking the puck and he's got
- 7:04Speaker 8: a ton of speed, and you know, that's 's a
- 7:08Speaker 8: welcome edition for us from that standpoint. Obviously, the goals
- 7:11Speaker 8: he scored, you know, he had a real good chance
- 7:13Speaker 8: to make it three as well. I think it went
- 7:15Speaker 8: off the knob of the goalie there. But uh, you know,
- 7:18Speaker 8: he uh, he played well.
- 7:21Speaker 7: We saw we saw both the risk and the reward
- 7:23Speaker 7: of having a defenseman jump into the play. Tonight, there's
- 7:25Speaker 7: a goal against that's kind of a result of that,
- 7:28Speaker 7: a goal for where Alexiak scores. What is it is
- 7:32Speaker 7: it always beneficial to have him jump up there? Is
- 7:34Speaker 7: there something that could have gone to prevent that that
- 7:36Speaker 7: goal against? The first goal against, well.
- 7:39Speaker 8: It was you know, the play at the blue line
- 7:42Speaker 8: was was the issue? Not what you want to have
- 7:45Speaker 8: is you know, I mean at the end of the day,
- 7:47Speaker 8: you you need your defenseman to jump. You know, you
- 7:50Speaker 8: need to create out numbered rushes, but it has to
- 7:52Speaker 8: be with some with some layers, and so if something
- 7:57Speaker 8: happens in that puck does get turned over, you know
- 7:59Speaker 8: we need uh, we need the opposite side defenseman, uh
- 8:03Speaker 8: potentially to uh you know, protect the middle of the ice.
- 8:06Speaker 8: And you know, we they got they got behind us
- 8:09Speaker 8: a couple of times, and obviously right at the end
- 8:10Speaker 8: there it's uh, you know, it's too bad. We you know,
- 8:14Speaker 8: with four four and a half minutes left or whatever,
- 8:16Speaker 8: we put two defensemen out, you know, in the second
- 8:19Speaker 8: half the power play so that we could help Roopy
- 8:21Speaker 8: out a little bit, and then we end up giving
- 8:22Speaker 8: a breakaway, uh, you know, in the last minute. So
- 8:25Speaker 8: you know, it's uh, just something that we got to
- 8:28Speaker 8: make sure that we uh a little are a little
- 8:29Speaker 8: better at Betty.
- 8:31Speaker 5: You talked about the fact that you you would have
- 8:33Speaker 5: been saying, keep your foot on the pedal. What does
- 8:35Speaker 5: that look like besides simply playing two conservative and you
- 8:39Speaker 5: want them to take a few more offensive chances?
- 8:42Speaker 2: What what exactly is that that looked like?
- 8:44Speaker 8: Well, like I said, I've I've talked about the fact
- 8:46Speaker 8: that you know, we're uh at times, we're tentative. Uh
- 8:50Speaker 8: when we get a lead, it's it's almost like we're
- 8:53Speaker 8: playing you know lately anyways, not always. You know, we
- 8:56Speaker 8: we had a good talk this morning, and you know
- 8:58Speaker 8: it's almost like we're playing not to lose instead of
- 9:00Speaker 8: playing to win. And I thought tonight we kept our
- 9:03Speaker 8: foot on the gas and we kept having chances. So,
- 9:06Speaker 8: you know, I thought we had some really good chances
- 9:07Speaker 8: to score. Could have been more.
- 9:09Speaker 5: What did you like about the mix of Bobby, Jordan
- 9:11Speaker 5: and Maddie seeing them together tonight.
- 9:13Speaker 3: For the first time.
- 9:14Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, I thought that I got Bobby's speed
- 9:17Speaker 8: over there helped those two guys, you know. And let's
- 9:21Speaker 8: be clear, Uh, you know, Kenner and and Maddie and
- 9:25Speaker 8: and Ebbs had a heck of a January as well,
- 9:27Speaker 8: so you know, we just had to we had to
- 9:29Speaker 8: mix things up a little bit here, and you know,
- 9:31Speaker 8: as it turns out, it worked out. I thought Chander's
- 9:35Speaker 8: line had some really good opportunities as well, So you know,
- 9:39Speaker 8: it's sometimes you make those changes and they work out.
- 9:43Speaker 7: How critical is that the first McMahon goal right with
- 9:47Speaker 7: time kind of winding down there in the first I mean,
- 9:49Speaker 7: it kind of sets the game back on the right
- 9:52Speaker 7: course for you guys. Would you agree with that?
- 9:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I do agree with that. I think you know,
- 9:56Speaker 8: I think you're you're bang on there.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:00Speaker 8: Like I say, we came out flying, scored and then
- 10:04Speaker 8: you know, then when they got their goal, I thought
- 10:06Speaker 8: they had the you know, a little majority of the play.
- 10:11Speaker 8: To get that one late in the first period there
- 10:13Speaker 8: was huge for us, and you know, just confidence booster.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I guess you could say, all right, time to dive
- 10:17Speaker 2: into matters here from the opposition. As the Kracken getting
- 10:20Speaker 2: step for their first matchup of two against the Florida Panthers.
- 10:23Speaker 2: It took this long, all the way into about the
- 10:25Speaker 2: middle of March, but finally here we are, and finally
- 10:29Speaker 2: here he is, our good friend, Doug Plagan's radio play
- 10:32Speaker 2: by play voice for the Panthers on five sixty w
- 10:36Speaker 2: q a M for their flagship Doug, Hello, how are
- 10:39Speaker 2: you good to see you once again?
- 10:41Speaker 9: Great to talk to you, great to preview and other
- 10:43Speaker 9: Panthers Cracking matchup. I know whenever the Panthers and the
- 10:46Speaker 9: Cracking are coming up on the schedule, it's gonna mean
- 10:49Speaker 9: that I get to chat with my old buddy Mike Ben.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Just from the EHL days. As you said before, in
- 10:53Speaker 2: a conversation like this, it is a tradition like any
- 10:57Speaker 2: other here. And I kind of record this like it's
- 10:59Speaker 2: snow and from the backyard, which makes me think of
- 11:01Speaker 2: when that line is utter, the masters camp be too
- 11:03Speaker 2: far away, which means armer weather. But hey, out of
- 11:06Speaker 2: the hockey conversation of this, and I think, Doug, for
- 11:10Speaker 2: how surprising the season has played out both Western and
- 11:13Speaker 2: Eastern Conference. To you on the Panthers side, they are
- 11:17Speaker 2: still very much well below the cut line. But I
- 11:20Speaker 2: think more context is certainly needed here. So yet, at
- 11:23Speaker 2: least in this case, what's the most surprising matter to
- 11:26Speaker 2: you as far as how this Panther season has played out?
- 11:29Speaker 9: Well, I think there are a lot of different layers
- 11:32Speaker 9: to this. Obviously, the Panthers have won the Stanley Cup
- 11:35Speaker 9: back to back years. They've been in the Cup final
- 11:37Speaker 9: three consecutive years. They've played between that, between having eight
- 11:43Speaker 9: players in the Four Nations face off last year, between
- 11:46Speaker 9: having ten players playing.
- 11:47Speaker 3: In the Olympics this year, they have.
- 11:50Speaker 9: Played a lot of hockey, to say the least, a
- 11:52Speaker 9: historic amount of hockey from a lot of these guys
- 11:55Speaker 9: over the course of the last three years, So you
- 11:58Speaker 9: certainly have that. That being said, it's a team that's
- 12:01Speaker 9: right in the thick of its contending window regardless of
- 12:04Speaker 9: how this season plays out. Anybody would tell you, with
- 12:07Speaker 9: so much of the roster sign long term and so
- 12:10Speaker 9: many key players signed long term, you'd expect that these
- 12:14Speaker 9: guys are going to reconvene in training camp as a
- 12:17Speaker 9: team on the short list of contenders.
- 12:19Speaker 3: For the Stanley Cup next year.
- 12:21Speaker 9: Out of the gate, they are still going to be
- 12:23Speaker 9: that good again, regardless of how things play out this season.
- 12:28Speaker 9: Going back to the last road trip the Panthers, they're
- 12:31Speaker 9: well aware. Matthew Kachuck was honest and said that, you know,
- 12:35Speaker 9: this is going to be a daunting task if the
- 12:37Speaker 9: Panthers are going to go on the run that would
- 12:39Speaker 9: be required here to get back into the playoffs. That
- 12:42Speaker 9: being said, sometimes this Panthers team in recent years, the
- 12:47Speaker 9: Panthers under Paul Maurice have turned in some of their
- 12:49Speaker 9: best performances when their backs are against the wall. So
- 12:53Speaker 9: I would never count this group out. I would absolutely
- 12:55Speaker 9: tell you that. And they're going to play this thing
- 12:57Speaker 9: out until until the final horn on the season. So again,
- 13:01Speaker 9: it's been it's been an interesting season in that they
- 13:05Speaker 9: have been To say bitten by the injury bug would
- 13:08Speaker 9: be an understatement. They lost their captain, Alexander Barkov in
- 13:11Speaker 9: training camp. Seth Jones was injured during the Winter Classic
- 13:15Speaker 9: and had been arguably the Panther's best player at the
- 13:19Speaker 9: time that that injury took place. He was named a
- 13:21Speaker 9: Team USA. A lot of folks you shouldn't. You shouldn't
- 13:23Speaker 9: forget that he was named a Team USA and it
- 13:25Speaker 9: was totally merit base he earned that.
- 13:27Speaker 3: He was that good.
- 13:28Speaker 9: The first few months of the season to be named
- 13:30Speaker 9: a Team USA just unfortunately wasn't able to play due
- 13:34Speaker 9: to the injury you know, prior to the Olympics, and
- 13:37Speaker 9: then injuries as the season has gone along. Matthew Kachuk
- 13:40Speaker 9: of course, didn't start the season until well into.
- 13:44Speaker 3: January, and you go down the list.
- 13:47Speaker 9: Dmitry Koulikov was injured in game two of the season
- 13:50Speaker 9: and just came back a.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Handful of games ago.
- 13:52Speaker 9: I believe tomash Nosek, who was the fourth line center
- 13:55Speaker 9: on the Cup run last year, he's I believe five
- 13:58Speaker 9: games back at this point after being injured to start
- 14:01Speaker 9: the season. Joni Gadgovich has missed a good period of time.
- 14:06Speaker 3: You go right down the list.
- 14:07Speaker 9: Cole Schwint wasn't a regular when the season began, established
- 14:10Speaker 9: himself as a regular for the Panthers and.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Now he's injured.
- 14:14Speaker 9: So there have been a lot of injuries up and
- 14:18Speaker 9: down the lineup for the Panthers this season. Brad Marshand
- 14:20Speaker 9: has missed games you know, here and there as the
- 14:24Speaker 9: season's gone along and he's been dealing with something. So again,
- 14:28Speaker 9: lots of different injuries. The Panthers have battled through it.
- 14:31Speaker 9: They've kept themselves in the race well aware right now
- 14:35Speaker 9: that's going to take a heck of a run to
- 14:36Speaker 9: get back into a playoff spot. But you know, for
- 14:40Speaker 9: a lot of teams, I might say that this could
- 14:42Speaker 9: be too big a hill to climb for these guys
- 14:45Speaker 9: until they're officially eliminated.
- 14:47Speaker 3: I would never say never to anything with this team.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Yeah, nothing says a threat like a team with a
- 14:54Speaker 2: championship run already in their blood. And they've got back
- 14:56Speaker 2: to back here with Doug Plagans joins us right now
- 14:59Speaker 2: on cra this morning. Doug sam reightanharts Well lot the
- 15:02Speaker 2: nearest sixty goal pace that he put up back in
- 15:04Speaker 2: a contract year, but still looks like he's not going
- 15:07Speaker 2: to play here on this trip. But how much has
- 15:09Speaker 2: he meant as far as pushing the pace Sam playing
- 15:11Speaker 2: with his linemates.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Sam's been outstanding all season long.
- 15:15Speaker 9: And yeah, he had the fifty seven goal season a
- 15:17Speaker 9: couple of years ago, that's the career high. He's creeping
- 15:21Speaker 9: up on thirty right now. But he's in every situations guy.
- 15:25Speaker 9: With the injuries to Barkov and ka Chuck and these
- 15:28Speaker 9: different injuries that have happened throughout the year. Obviously, the
- 15:31Speaker 9: Panthers have had to lean on him really heavily. He's
- 15:34Speaker 9: played a lot of minutes, He's played every situation. Paul
- 15:37Speaker 9: Maurice has talked about it time and time again that
- 15:40Speaker 9: he puts Sam right next to Ron Francis as far
- 15:42Speaker 9: as the smartest players that he's ever coached, that he's
- 15:45Speaker 9: ever had the opportunity to coach. Just to praises his
- 15:48Speaker 9: hockey IQ all the time and his hockey sense.
- 15:51Speaker 3: And the overall ability of Sam Ryanhart.
- 15:54Speaker 9: But this is a guy who has again just been
- 15:57Speaker 9: extremely valuable to the Panthers, to say the least in
- 16:00Speaker 9: recent years. And he again it would be an understatement
- 16:03Speaker 9: to say that he's been important to what the Panthers
- 16:05Speaker 9: have done this season with so many key players out,
- 16:08Speaker 9: he has been a real stabilizing force in this lineup
- 16:11Speaker 9: and that's the biggest key. You just know what you're
- 16:13Speaker 9: getting out of Sam every single night and the two
- 16:15Speaker 9: way game that comes with it. There's really nothing that
- 16:18Speaker 9: he can't do. And you said it right there. He's
- 16:22Speaker 9: been right atop the Panthers scoring leader board all season long,
- 16:26Speaker 9: and he's he's a reason the Panthers are still in
- 16:30Speaker 9: a situation where they can pursue a playoff spot.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Sergei Bobrovsky, after a game seven hundred and ninety nine,
- 16:37Speaker 2: picked up a win. He did not move at the
- 16:39Speaker 2: deadline and is right now in the final year of
- 16:42Speaker 2: his contract. Reports say, of course he likes it there.
- 16:46Speaker 2: But Doug, how much does this last month of the
- 16:48Speaker 2: season matter you think to where this goes for him
- 16:52Speaker 2: and the team for the summer.
- 16:53Speaker 9: Well, I know that he's he's beloved here and you
- 16:57Speaker 9: heard his remarks clearly after the Panther there's win in
- 17:00Speaker 9: their last game against Columbus, his old team, and Sergey
- 17:04Speaker 9: was brilliant in that one. That game right there, it
- 17:07Speaker 9: just was emblematic of the fact that he's still an
- 17:10Speaker 9: elite goaltender. There's no question about it. Turned in an
- 17:13Speaker 9: unbelievable performance, especially early in the game. I believe the
- 17:18Speaker 9: line from Paul Maurice postgame was that Sergey kind of
- 17:21Speaker 9: got them to the third period, which was when the
- 17:23Speaker 9: Panthers ultimately took control of the game in the third
- 17:26Speaker 9: and then into overtime when they ultimately beat Columbus back
- 17:29Speaker 9: on Thursday night, but serge Lebrowski held the four in
- 17:32Speaker 9: that one. His last two starts have been really good.
- 17:35Speaker 9: He shut down the Detroit Red Wings going back to
- 17:39Speaker 9: his previous start before that, so he's been outstanding. He
- 17:43Speaker 9: does as you said, he does love playing in Florida.
- 17:45Speaker 9: The team values him extremely. You heard, for example, Matthew
- 17:50Speaker 9: Kachuck spoke at length going back to that would have
- 17:53Speaker 9: been at the time we're doing this a little over
- 17:56Speaker 9: a week ago when.
- 17:57Speaker 3: The Panthers won in Detroit.
- 17:59Speaker 9: Matthew had a hat trick in that game and Sergei
- 18:01Speaker 9: Bobrowski at times turned in highlight reel highlight reel saves
- 18:05Speaker 9: throughout that game.
- 18:06Speaker 3: So the team values him a ton. And like I said,
- 18:10Speaker 3: he's he's.
- 18:11Speaker 9: Going to be the last guy to wear number seventy
- 18:13Speaker 9: two for the plant for the Panthers, I would I
- 18:15Speaker 9: would guess. I think that number is going to be
- 18:17Speaker 9: hanging in the rafters someday, and he's a beloved player.
- 18:21Speaker 9: We'll see what the what the future holds for him,
- 18:23Speaker 9: but there's no question this guy can still play.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Cardifer Hagy Anton Lundell noticeably absent in Thursday Nights win
- 18:30Speaker 2: for the Panthers over the Blue Jackets that winning overtime,
- 18:34Speaker 2: but at this point of the season, Doug how has
- 18:36Speaker 2: a message of Paul Maurice shipped versus twelve months ago.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Well, the message.
- 18:41Speaker 9: I think that's one of the big things is the
- 18:43Speaker 9: message is always consistent, and that's part of why the
- 18:46Speaker 9: Panthers have been able to keep this thing moving along
- 18:48Speaker 9: even without so many key players in the lineup at
- 18:51Speaker 9: times due to injury this season. When you call up
- 18:53Speaker 9: a player from Charlotte, for example, and part of it
- 18:57Speaker 9: is their coach really well by Jordan kinere down American
- 19:00Speaker 9: Hockey League, and when a guy steps into the.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Panthers lineup, knows exactly what he needs to do and
- 19:04Speaker 3: what's expected of him.
- 19:05Speaker 9: But I think that's the biggest thing is the consistency
- 19:09Speaker 9: in the approach. Everybody knows what they have to do
- 19:11Speaker 9: every single night for this.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Team to be successful.
- 19:14Speaker 9: They know the kind of game that they want to
- 19:16Speaker 9: play and the kind of game that leads to success.
- 19:19Speaker 3: I think that's that's the biggest thing.
- 19:21Speaker 9: Is that that's helped this or one of the big
- 19:23Speaker 9: factors that's helped this team keep moving along in the
- 19:25Speaker 9: face of adversity at times this season is that the
- 19:28Speaker 9: approach is so consistent and the group knows exactly what's
- 19:31Speaker 9: expected of them and just goes back to June twenty second,
- 19:35Speaker 9: twenty twenty two, when Paul Maurice was named the head
- 19:38Speaker 9: coach and it's been the perfect fit for this group
- 19:41Speaker 9: ever since.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Panther is the.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Course going to be on this road trip which we'll
- 19:45Speaker 2: take them here, there, and everywhere here. So for a
- 19:48Speaker 2: Sunday game where the journey for the Panthers has only
- 19:51Speaker 2: just begun in Seattle? To you, what do you think
- 19:54Speaker 2: the key on here for this first road game out
- 19:55Speaker 2: of the gate?
- 19:56Speaker 9: Well, for the Panthers, I think, first thing, obviously, I'm
- 19:59Speaker 9: not breaking any ground here. They'd love to they'd love
- 20:02Speaker 9: to get the first one. Their last couple of games
- 20:04Speaker 9: have involved they've won. They've beaten Columbus and then going
- 20:07Speaker 9: back Detroit before that, both games have involved having to
- 20:11Speaker 9: erase a deficit and a point during the game. So
- 20:13Speaker 9: I'm sure getting a lead would not hurt. Everybody always
- 20:16Speaker 9: loves playing with the lead. I think the start of
- 20:19Speaker 9: a game is always important anytime you embark on a
- 20:22Speaker 9: long road trip like this, and especially when the road
- 20:24Speaker 9: trip begins with having to fly from Fort Lauderdale all
- 20:27Speaker 9: the way to Seattle, even though you know you have
- 20:30Speaker 9: a chance to rest up and get a little bit
- 20:33Speaker 9: adjusted prior to the game. Anytime you have that kind
- 20:36Speaker 9: of travel involved, the start of the hockey game is
- 20:39Speaker 9: always going to be paramount. So I think those are
- 20:42Speaker 9: going to be the big factors in this one, and.
- 20:44Speaker 3: They kind of go hand in hand. It's going to
- 20:46Speaker 3: be an interesting one to watch because you're going to
- 20:48Speaker 3: have the.
- 20:49Speaker 9: One team that played last night, played the night prior
- 20:52Speaker 9: that is going to be dealing with.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Travel, short travel, but travel and a border crossing and
- 20:58Speaker 3: things like that.
- 20:58Speaker 9: And then you're gonna have one team that it's going
- 21:00Speaker 9: to be dealing with something in the neighborhood of I
- 21:02Speaker 9: would imagine a six hour and change flight the day before.
- 21:06Speaker 9: So we'll see what ends up being the more difficult
- 21:10Speaker 9: obstacle on the previous.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Day, kracking coming off that game last and against Vancouver
- 21:15Speaker 2: and the Panthers embarking on the first of four on
- 21:18Speaker 2: the road Canucks oilers and flames after that for them
- 21:22Speaker 2: when they will then get right back home two face
- 21:25Speaker 2: yues sou the kracking coming up on March twenty fourth.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Hockey World is a small world and a funny world sometimes, Doug,
- 21:33Speaker 2: appreciate this.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Hope you packed devy here for this trip.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Has been snowing here recently, but looking forward to seeing
- 21:38Speaker 2: it around, my friend. Appreciate you.
- 21:40Speaker 9: I will take all the necessary precautions weatherwise.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Don't worry about me.
- 21:44Speaker 9: This trip does go to Edmonton, so you have to
- 21:46Speaker 9: be prepared for a little bit of everything when that's involved.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Thank you so much for having me as always.
- 21:51Speaker 2: All right, Doug, thank you very much. You can find
- 21:53Speaker 2: them by the way at Twitter and next at Doug Plagans.
- 21:55Speaker 2: As the Kraken gets set for their first of two
- 21:58Speaker 2: matchups against the Panther, and Florida could be getting Seth
- 22:02Speaker 2: Jones back very soon, back on their blue line. He
- 22:05Speaker 2: was injured back in the Winter Classic, and yet a
- 22:08Speaker 2: little bit of relief here for household names right now
- 22:10Speaker 2: on the shelf, including Brad Marshand, Alexander Barkov and new
- 22:15Speaker 2: to the mix Sam Reinhart. He will not make this
- 22:18Speaker 2: trip with an undisclosed injury. The krack And have had
- 22:21Speaker 2: the upper hand of this head to head series, fine
- 22:24Speaker 2: two and one record against the Panthers, Aiming for their
- 22:27Speaker 2: third win in the last four tries against Florida with
- 22:30Speaker 2: today beginning a two game homestand and Tampa Bay is
- 22:34Speaker 2: up next here, so once again it does not get
- 22:37Speaker 2: any easier here for the Crack and trying to find
- 22:40Speaker 2: a way to fight their way back to the inside
- 22:42Speaker 2: of this Western Conference playoff picture with their mission here
