- 2:53SPEAKER_00: And he requested of himself that he may die.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: This was Elijah, one of the main prophets in the Old Testament.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: The one, praise God, that called fire down on the altar, the one that killed the eight hundred and fifty prophets of Jezebel, wanting to die.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: And you know, it's and it says, It is enough now, O Lord, take away my life, for I'm not better than my father's.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: And the fifth verse says, And as he laid and slept under the Judah tree, behold, an angel touched him and said unto him, Arise and eat.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: The sixth verse.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And he looked, and behold, there was a cake, bacon in the coals, and a cruise of water at his head, and he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Verse 7, and the angel of the Lord came again the second time, touched him, and said, Arise and eat, because the journey is great for you.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: And the eighth verse, and he arose and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meal forty days and forty nights in Hamrab, the mount of God.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: You know, there are some people we don't expect to break.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: We don't expect police officers to break because the officer is supposed to protect us.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: We don't expect the firefighter to break because the firefighter runs into what everybody else runs away from.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: We don't expect the soldier to break because the soldier is trained to be tough.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: And we don't expect the pastor to break because everybody comes to the pastor for prayer.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: We don't expect the strong mother or the father to break because everybody in the family depends upon them.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Be strong, people hurt too.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: But strong people hurt too.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Elijah was a strong man.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: In first uh Kings 18, he stood against the prophets of Baal.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: He answered uh his prayer was answered by fire.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Yet, in first Kings 19, Elijah was sitting on a leaf of a tree saying, It is enough.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: That is the language of somebody who had reached his limit.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: The man who called down fire from heaven now is asking at God to let him die.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Being strong does not mean you'll uh you'll never struggle.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Sometimes being strong means recognizing when you need help.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Are you listening?
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: I'm speaking to someone out there right now.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: You you you you you've been serving, you've been working, and look like what you're doing is in vain, and you're getting discouraged and a bit despondent, and you feel like doing something contrary to what God would want.

- 6:28SPEAKER_00: I'm here to let you know that grown people can't become overwhelmed.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: That fourth verse, but he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, came and sat down under the Judaf tree, and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, It is enough now, Lord, take away my life.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Elijah didn't stop being a prophet because he was hurting.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: He didn't stop uh uh belonging to God because he was discouraged, he was overwhelmed.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Sometimes the person saying, I'm alright, is not alright.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: Sometimes the person helping everybody else, somebody needs to help them.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Don't confuse somebody uniform with their emotional condition.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: A badge doesn't make you immune to pain.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: A title doesn't make you immune to depression.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: A collar doesn't make a pastor immune to discouragement.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: A Bible in your hand doesn't mean that there aren't tears in your eyes.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Are you listening this morning?
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: And then you go down to the uh 1 King 18 and go to the 38th verse.

- 7:53SPEAKER_00: 39th verse.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: And when all the people saw it, they fell on their face and said, The Lord He is God, the Lord He is God.

- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Exhaustion can change how you see life.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: In that fifth and sixth verse, uh 19th chapter now, and as he laid and slept under the juniper tree, behold, an angel touched him and said to him, Arise and eat.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: And he looked, and behold, there was a uh a cake bacon in the coals, and a cruise of water at his hand, at his head, and he did eat and drink and laid down again.

- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you just need to take yourself out to eat.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: The Bible said David, when they were talking about stoning him, the Bible said he encouraged himself in the Lord.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: It's all in the Lord.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: It's not in our script, it's in the Lord's script.
