- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: Hello!
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to M&QB NFL podcast, I'm Conoror, that's an Albert Brear and this was a big weekend of NFL football Albert, but there was one thing that I could not stop thinking about over the course of this time period and it's a Reddit post.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to read this to you because it stuck with me and it's insane.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: The headline is stop the wedding.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: And the body of the post is, if you're fiance, blonde, tan, long blonde hair was traveling home to the DMV area from Arizona from her bachelor at on United Flight 107 into Delos, C28A.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: She spent the entire four-hour flight talking and flirting with the guy next to her.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: Deep conversations.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: She did not speak fondly of you at all.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: I feel so sorry for you.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's very soon to be husband.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: Please, please don't marry this person.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: How would you react to that?
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: Or if that, that's a tough spot.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that why?
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: She's coming back to her from her bachelor ret.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: Would you contact the right-it-poster?
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think I do, but the worst part about this is that, let's see, right now it's got, so probably about 3,000 people have seen it, let's see how many people, okay, now about 8,000 people have seen it about 600 people have commented on it and I think everybody's like, you know,
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they're trying to get this thing into the public consciousness, because the worst part about it would be let's say that the marriage ends up being doomed anyway, and this guy stumbles upon it like six years later, you know, yeah, and he's like, oh God damn it, you know, I thought this is going to happen.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: I can't like throughout all of Sunday and we'll get to everything that happened throughout all of Sunday in the back of my mind, I'm like, God, I hope that this guy finds this it really like it stuck with me.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what I did this weekend.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's, yeah, I mean, it's always funny because like stuff like that, like the way it spreads now, like you would have to think it probably gets to enough people in DC.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's someone that one of either the bride to be or the groom to be knows.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: Either it's going to get directly to those people or it's going to spread it in the fine group first.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's yes, and then it's like, should we tell Jim, you know?
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: You don't know if he might already know.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: You don't know if he already knows.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: But like, there's definitely, there's definitely, I would, I would guess that there's got to be some sort of text thread on going right now.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: The baiting, whether or not they can front him with it, you know?
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: man.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: I would say the only thing more uncomfortable than that.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, was she like making out with the guy?
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like, no, it's said four hours of incredibly deep conversation.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if the, I don't know if that's like a euphemism for something, but the part that stuck out was she did not speak fondly of you at all.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: So I think just four hours of her trashing her fiance to some hot guy on an airplane, you know, tough spot.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: You never know.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: The only thing more uncomfortable than that before we get into it with like this.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: We only do expound now on Sunday before the game started.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: We had to swim me and this was my first
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: big indoor swim meat as a swim dad.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: I did not realize that there is a moment where your swimmers get on the deck and then everything quiets down and then as a parent you stop yelling.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: I thought, you know, so everybody gets on, everybody gets down on the on the blocks and then I stand
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: like 300 parents just turned around and looked at me because I guess that's tough in a pool too, because of the echo.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I guess that makes the kids like jumping.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: And some of my wife was like, you can't come to this anymore.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: Which is good because I got football to cover anyway.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: This was a weird weird Sunday Albert.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: Lotter going for the Dougsburg Dragon's yesterday.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Albert Smoking right now, it's weird Sunday because I would say we left talking as much about officiating, but kind of in a different way than we normally have.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: We have like the head of the NFL players union coming out.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, issuing a stern statement about an official, which he should have in the Giants Cardinals game official, just telling Tray McBride, FU, FU, FU.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: which is not good.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: We had an official in the, I think the Viking stuff in this game, getting up in a player's face after he was knocked over on the field.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: We had an official.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: hitting Mike Raeble for un-sportsman like conduct for Mike Raeble saying it was a terrible f-ing call which Mike Raeble said he is a 78 times over the course of his coaching career has never been flagged for I probably just week for right everybody's got the I mean you know I mean I did that I did that again I did that in a sixth grade game on on Monday night I don't think I did yesterday but I'm on the night I am
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: I, I think that there's like a little bit, I mean, it's just, I think what happened last week with the Rams, right, puts everybody on edge a little bit.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I mean, like that memo that went out.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Jesus Christ, you know, like.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to call this like it is.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: All right, everybody saw the play.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think we had all agreed.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: Josh Wallace did not interfere on that play.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: You're talking about Ram's brothers.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: Ram's brothers.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_01]: So we can go, he picks it off for those who missed it.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: A memo went out on, well, at some point last week, a memo went to, and I'm going to bring this up.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: So so I can actually read it to you.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: I did it on my new TikTok page.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a new TikTok page, but it's active for the first time.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody can check that out.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, make up tutorials with Albert.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to be where the kids are right now.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: So the memo, and I'm going to read it right now, to chief executive's president, General Manager's head coach and communications directors, did it October 2nd, which I think was Friday, right?
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: It says, as a reminder subject, this closure of confidential information.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: As a reminder, the League Office encourages the officiating department to respond candidly.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: The questions regarding officiating raised by head coaches and other club employees following review of each game.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: After reviewing the plays in question, the officiating department is obligated to give their factual opinion of each call or non-call to the appropriate club executive.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: all such conversations are confidential and are not to be discussed publicly.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Accountability measures will be imposed on club personnel who breach that confidentiality.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: This drives me nuts.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: Every coach who makes a bad calling in, every quarterback who throws a bad pick in the game, every receiver who draft drops a ball on a game, every running back who fumbles, every lineman who misses a block, every pass, Russia who whiffs on a quarterback, every corner who gets beat as the stand in front of the media, after the game, maybe 20 minutes after, maybe a half hour after an answer for
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: And then I get in during the week and over and over and over again.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: And we all know why that is.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's why you get paid that money.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: The scrutiny, the attention.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is the other side of all right.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: And we all understand that.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the guys that are in the spotlight understand that as well.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: Why aren't the officials under the same.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: Screwed me.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I don't understand is like why.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: To get official, do we have to put it in a request?
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: And then one reporter gets to go talk to him for a limited amount of time.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like, why aren't they subject?
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I respect the job those guys do.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: Why aren't they subject to the same scrutiny?
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: And then one coach says, yeah, the official said they got the leagues that the official guy ran.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: And now they're coming down on that coach for that?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, excuse me?
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: It cost them a game, which could cost them a home game in the playoffs.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, right?
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: And like, and he just mentions it, it shouldn't be a good thing that it's out there.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: It should show that the league is taking accountability, that the officiating is taking accountability for what happened.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: But instead, we have to have this shroud of secrecy over all of it.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: And like, as if they never make a mistake.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I just don't understand it.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: These officials, like, and again, I respect the job they do.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: They're paid good money.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: They're allowed to work part-time and have other jobs.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: Right, they, and I'm all for them getting all the things that they've been able to negotiate, right?
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: I was on their side in the lock out of the owners were being pigheaded and greedy.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: But this is ridiculous, you know?
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I just, and I think that there's this tension where it's like, you have all of these guys who are being held accountable.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: And then you have the raffs who, I mean, if the camera doesn't catch that official saying that to try to make fried, it just gets like, oh, yeah.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: And no one would believe, no one would believe, no one would believe, make fried if he said that, right?
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like they'd be like, no,
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: And if we're seeing that just by happenstance, how often is it actually happening?
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: I, on Sunday, so, you know, you have five games going on and you're trying to digest certain stuff.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: And then I, you started to watch the chargers come back and we'll get to that game, obviously, in a little bit.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: They start mounting a comeback and then a face mask penalty is called.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: It was a good call in the field, right?
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: This is Seattle's fifth penalty of 15 yards are more called today.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: And then you look at the stats on it, 30 accepted penalties in that game.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: That is the same officiating crew that in week two between Green Bay and the New York Jets had 27 accepted penalties in a game.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: week or week for this is at a control you know like they're not behaving properly on the field they're acting soft when it comes to interactions with players they're overmanaging games again and it's like and the problem is there's no accountability for it yeah and that's what that memo in bright lies illuminates for all of us right is that
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: They are not held to the steam standard of accountability that a player is, that a coach is, that a front office it person is, they aren't.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: And the one reason why I would understand it is because we can't have like, lynch mob is going after officials.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: We can't have that, right?
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: 100% I get it.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: I get that you don't want to heighten the hysteria around officiating, but you have to hold them accountable.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: And like I think in the case of the game a week ago and that Ram's Broncos game, it was a window into how these things are adjudicated.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: And it was a window into the league not being able to see pass Park Avenue.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: And that they're going to have to hear from the officials or have a greater problem the officials than they are with the team.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I, I just, I don't know.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, I, I, again, these calls can wind up affecting people's livelihoods.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: And,
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, like, that's where replay assist just stepped in on that one and done something about it, they did, you know?
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: So is what it is.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: But in that situation that you can't admit that you screwed up in the aftermath, like in a day and an age when they are in bed and just about every way possible with all the gambling outlets.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: I know, man.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: And that this is the type of stuff that makes you not trust it, like a player or a referee telling, you know, and all pro-tied end to F off as part of one of multiple confrontations.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: A week after a blown call is actively being shoveled under the rug by the league, that's what winds up breaching trust.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: We also had the, I forgot about that.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: We had the, that, that strange forward passes, not a fumble thing, but then it happened three more times in the season, the exact way that they called it the first week.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: And it was rever, like, just in my head, I'm like, God, I'll mighty.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: And here's the thing, it's, it's not,
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't say that it's impossible.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: You got a streamlined this rulebook.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's biblical and length at this point.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I think there's such a word salad in there that referees can use the language to arrive at any conclusion that they want to arrive at, right?
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's part of the deal.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: But Deanna Fell, whether they want to look or not want to look and, you know, that's like, give them some grace.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like it is,
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Because the NFL chases it's tail on these things, right?
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: Right, you layered on top and then you add more clarification and more clarification and more clarification and more but what does that do ultimately makes it more complicated?
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: It just, it just gives them something to talk about in the competition committee room in the moment.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's, like, does it really, is it really good for the game to continue to clarify and modify and change rules and add rules?
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: you know, and then you're doing it this game.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: The game is moving at a million miles now or anybody who's stood on the sideline of an NFL team is just the fact that how hard it is to make heads or tails of anything to begin with is, you know, a big piece of this.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they're refusal to, or a house slow moving they've been and using like the technology to try to get calls right and help the officials on the field.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: The unwillingness to go to a sky judge, which I think they should have one in every stadium.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's a mess and it's a mess of the league's doing and it's a mess that I think can be cleaned up with common sense, but this is the bed that they made for themselves.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also kind of like, let's go back to like, let's make this the the the big East conference in like circa 1998, you know, just let him play.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, how many times have
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: just backed away from the moment in a Super Bowl and everything's been fine.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like we like officiating reaches a fevered pitch and everyone's like, oh my god, how are they going to officiate this game and then a Super Bowl?
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: They just disappear and everything's fine because they're not calling all of these inane penalties.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: They're just being out of the way.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: They're not creating
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, there's some optics too, right?
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like, doesn't like son of Hockey Lee, like, kind of come off his rather satisfied with himself.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, calls, you know what it is.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: And then we got to move here, but it's like, like, he looks like rather satisfied with himself.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: The official calls to many penalties is like the person at your office.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: who schedules nine in a meeting just to make themselves look busy and be like, look, I got all these meetings on the counter.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, yes, I'm an official.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: I called 31 penalties and seahawks chargers and almost ruined the goddamn game.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: I used to be one of those people who had a whole routine of different supplements.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: You'd have a bottle for this, another bottle for that, and before you know it, you have an entire cabinet dedicated to supplements, and honestly, it just became a lot to keep track up.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's one reason I like IM8.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: It basically simplifies that whole routine into one drink.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: IM8's daily ultimate essentials combined 16 supplements and 90 ingredients designed to support
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: all in one drink.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: So instead of taking a bunch of different things throughout the day, I can just take my IMA and move on with my morning.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's only $2.61 a day, which makes it pretty easy to work into the routine.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_00]: It was also co-founded by David Beckham and developed with doctors and researchers.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_00]: In a clinical trial conducted by the San Francisco Research Institute, 95% of the people who tried it for 12 weeks reported feeling more energy and for me that's the biggest thing.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's just how easy it is.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have to think about what I'm supposed to take.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: I remember a bunch of different supplements.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's just about my morning routine.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: I use IMA and honestly I think that you should give it a shot too.

- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: Let's each pick two big ones here from the weekend to go deep on.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going first, I'm going Chiefs Raiders.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_00]: That game was a blast in like takeaway.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: My big picture take away from this Albert.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe not the takeaway of everybody here on Sunday, but this was the Raiders arrival game for me.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: And even though they lost this game, let me throw some numbers at you.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, pretend you're a,
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's semi-sentient AI, and I'm entering the following facts into this.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: The Raiders played the Chiefs on Sunday.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: The Chiefs had a running back that outrushed the Raiders 177 to 58.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: The Chiefs did better on third down.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: Only five of Kirk Cousins' completions went to someone who wasn't a tight end.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: And this game wasn't a bloodbath.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like, how does that compute?
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'll tell you why.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_00]: Clint Kubiak is a phenomenal play caller.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: He with two tight ends, Albert.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: Two tight ends, like a mass, like 180 receiving yards against a very, very good chief defense.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: The raiders aren't even running the ball well, which is the calling card of a Kubiak offense.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: And they're right in these games so much.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_00]: So they're up at half in,
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: And Clint tells Tracy Wolvesson I'm going to go in this game and I love everything about the way that they've got it going right now.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: I like I like the offense.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think the defense like with Robbie Leonard calling it wasn't a great job.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: This was a very underrated hire to me like and I I
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know it in the moment either, but, I mean, I don't think most people know this that he came up with Mike McDonald and Jesse Mentor in Baltimore, you know, so he's that that scheme that everybody's looking for, one of the reasons that they that that that Clint wound up keeping him is because Rob Leonard can give him this scheme that he saw firsthand in Seattle coaching from McDonald, they look tough.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: They look like they play with a purpose.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: There's rhyme and reason to what they're doing.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: They play fast.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like the players know what they're doing.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, even Ash and Janty, who didn't have a great day, look, I think we saw like some of what he can become in bursts in that offense.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: Man, the Raiders might be a draft away from being a real contender.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a draft in Fernando Mendoza, eventually getting in there and becoming what they hope he'll be, and that's taken nothing away from Kirk Cousins, who I thought was tough as nails.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: He can't move very well anymore, and he took some monster shots.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know how you walk away from that, not respecting the hell out of Kirk Cousins for the way he played.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: Kirk played on Sunday, and I know Kirk doesn't drink 50, 22 times he threw the ball 52 times.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: He played on Sunday.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like I would play with my friends on Thanksgiving with like two cocktails and me just completely unaware that you have a body with limitations.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_00]: He was like,
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: trying to make jump throws and like twitch like his body was just like contorting all over the place.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean this was a this was a definite to leave game afterwards.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is uh, you know, but how man he he looked right and he's looked good all season Albert.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: The amazing thing is, so the chiefs recorded 10 quarterback hits and cousins did not take a single sack.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of my favorite stats from Sunday is the chiefs beat the crap out of him and he still was able to stand in there and deliver the ball and not take negative plays.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so yeah, I mean, that was like an all-time old guy tough guy, you know, like game and look like I think, you know, you can start to see where these guys are going to go, you know, you're going to start to see where these guys are going to go.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive line struggled, but I think is getting better.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: The tight ends are obviously a huge part of the future.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: They've paid Michael Mayer and Bowers is going to be, you know, a big piece of what they do.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: I just, look, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the foundation is now in place, you know, and even like some of the guys they brought in, like the Kobe deans off to an incredible start at Linebacker, there's just a little auto-like, and what they did there, and then, you know, I mean again, like, I don't know how many times we're gonna say it, but like Kenneth Walker, like the best player in the field again, you know what I mean?
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I,
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: That was the best signing of the offseason.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what a bargain to get him for what was it?
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: 13 in change a year, you know?
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, or 14 in change a year.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: So essentially, at Travis etch in money, right?
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a guy who is averaging almost 25 touches a game right now for them, and helping them ease Patrick Mahalms back into it, helping manage their receiver deficiency with the guys getting hurt.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: Take a month's hard and with an ugly, ugly, injury, rashi, rice, pulses, ham, string, again.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think the chiefs are like, I think you look at the chiefs and the chiefs are like, this is a team that's going to be better in two months than it is right now, you know?
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: We should talk about that in a second.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: I want to close the book on something that you said about Kenneth Walker because, I mean, at this point,
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: every I'm famously the guy who said that the chiefs weren't super bullet contenders this year.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: I looked at this roster and thought you tore down the defense, you know, you're in a position where you're going to have to be starting undrafted free agents at a key offensive line positions.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: Kenneth Walker's a great tackle breaker.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: I don't I just didn't think he could thrive in this situation, especially with Travis Kelsey is like one of your A run blockers.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: But.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: As usual, I'm wrong about everything.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: Kelsey looks incredibly healthy.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_00]: The soft fence of lines figured out a way to get Kenneth Walker going, I'm not going to be that guy to be like, I wonder if he can sustain the workload.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_00]: He can absolutely sustain it.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it'll be fine.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm done doubting this team.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: However,
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: You brought up the Thornton thing.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_00]: You brought up the Rashi Rice thing.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, is it, is it Tyree Kill time?
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, well, he's not healthy enough yet.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_00]: So that's, is it getting, is it getting there?
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, I, I, I had heard midseason.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that means November.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what you're going to get from him if he brings him in, but I think that they're definitely, I think that's 100% in the radar and something to watch.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: And like, I think it would make sense.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_01]: if he can be 90% of what he was, 85% of what he was.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say, even if he's 75% of what he's not like that, you know?
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that is at a breaking point now.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it's a year worthy, I think, it's been promising, you know, through the first month of the season, they just, I, I,
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they're going to need to get some more from some of your own guys, Cyrus Allen, the kid that they drafted the fifth round or he's somebody who maybe he can pick up a little bit.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see how serious rice is injury is because rice is obviously a huge part of what of who they are and what they're what what they're going to become if they get if they want to get where they're going.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, Jordan had become a pretty important guy for them, and I think when you look at the one for one, like what you're losing in Thornton, obviously, the big thing is the downfield ability, and so bringing in Hill would, you know, I think to some degree replace that depending on what percentage of of Tyre Kale you're getting.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I'll give me a game that you thought was critical to the NFL story on Sunday.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think the Rams and Eagles will be right there for me, but I'm going to go first with the Cowboys and the Texans.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I said last week that I think the Cowboys have a suitable team.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I, what they did in the second half of that game was so freaking impressive.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: And my god, like all respect to DAC Prescott for playing the way that he played.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: Um, after half time, they scored touchdowns on four of their five offensive possessions.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: And not only did they score, I mean, the length of these drives, right?
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: Again, this is against the Texan's defense.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: So the third quarter drives 4 plays 49 yards, 7 plays 55 yards.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: Then with the game in the line, they go 14 plays 96 yards for a touchdown.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: And then the game winner, 11 and play 74 yards for a touchdown.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: Prescott was awesome in this game.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome, awesome, awesome.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: Playing like an MVP, a very real MVP candidate.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: CDLAM, 17 catches everything that you want.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: George Pickins was drawing the coverage and Brian Shot andheimer told me last night that they were doing some interesting stuff to take Pickins away.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so their counter was they got CD land matched up on Jalen Petri a bunch and just fed them the ball.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and you just kind of like go right down the list of of guys who came up big.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Javante Williams was important for them on that side of the ball Jake Ferguson had.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just three catches for 11 yards, but an important one in there.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: Caleb Downs again, like looks like a defensive rookie of the year, Canada, quantum Williams was immense in this game.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: I...
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think like coming out of Brazil, right?
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: And the league really screwed them because the league put them in Brazil in a normal slot as the first time they've ever done that to anybody, right?
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: And they put them on the road the week after and now they're in a Thursday night game.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: They're playing against Tampa on Thursday.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: So I think to be able to lose the way that they lost against Baltimore.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_01]: Shotty falls on the sword and the team meeting on Wednesday and basically takes the blame for the loss and then to get this sort of response from the team when they're down by 10 at the half in Houston against that defense A plus A plus they are the best team in the NFCs
- 29:52[SPEAKER_00]: if you go through, so through four games in a season, through a four game sample size, points per drive.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, every offense since 2000, the Dallas Cowboys are fifth, and the teams in front of them, the 2020 Green Bay Packers, the 2024 Washington Commanders, the 2021 Kansas City Chiefs, and so this is what's insane.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_00]: 1,5 points under the 2007 New England Patriots, in parents per drive right now.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: They are scoring out of their minds on offense.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, with someone like Christian Parker, I feel better about having him in that spot than someone like Iberfluous because, you know,
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: he's going to get better.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to get better.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you would hope, right?
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: You would hope that he's going to get better.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and if not, I know that Rex Ryan has offered several times to take a trip down there.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: And, uh, no, I'm just getting, uh, and, and help everybody out.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: But, um, but that was Wank.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's right.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: This Wank Martial.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, either way, you know, Jared Jones is an old man with buddy.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: He could pay for an economy class ticket.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: One of these guys down here.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: But I, I, I, I think,
- 31:16[SPEAKER_00]: that I think that the defense will get better.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm optimistic that the defense will get better.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Joey Porter had what nine snaps in coverage in this one on Sunday, so it's not, you know, the totality of what this is going to look like, not quite there flipping over to the Houston side for a second.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: I, so DeMico Ryan said this after the game, and I thought it was
- 31:43[SPEAKER_00]: pointing out that major changes are coming.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: But put the Nick Cacero hat on for a second.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: What should the major change be?
- 31:54[SPEAKER_00]: Because, I don't know, really, your defense is the one that blew it on the fifth.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: Their fifth and the league in points aloud.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: Most points aloud.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that insane?
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not like, I mean, it's not like Will Anderson is in playing great.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I just, it's now look like they have, they have a, get well game next week I would say against the Titans.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: And they have the Jaguars that we
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: Giants, chargers, browns, colds.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: So this does get like a little more man.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: Softened up a little bit.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: It gets a little more manageable.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: They got a chance to build some momentum.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: But like I think you gotta, you gotta ask like some big picture questions like what the team is now, you know?
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm gonna have to take a quote closer to look at it this week and ask, cause I just,
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I feel like I was sort of making excuses for the defense and whistling by the graveyard a little bit the first three weeks of the season is impossible to do now like the defense didn't play well, you know.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: And they got torn up by the bills in week one and then in week three against the Colts.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: They gave up a game-winning drive where Lequan Treadwell had the biggest catch.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and now 17 catches a CDLM.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's a problem there.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: There's definitely a problem there.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know, like you said, Will Anderson is on a tear.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he led the league in at least going into week three, I think, in past rush wins.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_00]: If you would have told me that,
- 33:51[SPEAKER_00]: I would have said, okay, everybody's dominating, everybody's playing well.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_00]: But especially last night, you had a situation where guys like Kamari Lassiter are continuing to get picked on what was the stat there, allowed eight receptions for 136 yards.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_00]: on 11 targets.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_00]: And then he had the three penalties last night.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: So, and, and, you know, tomorrow, you go back to the first game of the season against Buffalo.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: And he was great last year.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's one that was, he was awesome last year.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's probably the best second corner in the way.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it's proof though that I think that just the NFL isn't static.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: Something happens where maybe teams get a beat on you, teams start understanding things that you're doing.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have that great of an off-season, maybe you're hurt, nobody knows, something.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_00]: But he's getting picked on.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I just, I'm very curious to see what Demiko does because it's not like he can look that team in the eye and say, well, the offense is the problem.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's been a very convenient, that's been a very convenient scapegoat for him.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think for a while, and we've changed offensive coordinator.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_00]: We've changed quarterbacks coach.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: We've changed a lot of other stuff.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_00]: We've churned the offensive line.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_00]: We've done all this to say, look over there.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's the problem.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: We've had a historically great defense.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_00]: Now you don't.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think, does that, does he look inward?
- 35:22[SPEAKER_00]: Do you alter something in the process there?
- 35:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: The Jaguars have a chance to kind of put the Texans out of the race, I know, over the next two weeks.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: And you know Liam Cohen knows that, too.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's, you know, he, there's, you do not want that team.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: We saw what Houston is capable of when they revive themselves.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: Jacksonville's really good.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get to them, but Jacksonville's really good.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I'm going to give you another game from Sunday.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_00]: You said you're your hog and Ram's Eagles.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, you can take it if you want.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: All right, all right, yeah.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_00]: Let we should talk about this game.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_00]: 24 20 Rams beat the Eagles.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_00]: This was a Kyron Williams game, really.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, two touchdowns.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: This was Matt Stafford was unspectacular, but the story of this game was the fact that the Eagles have a 20 to 10 lead at half time
- 36:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's like going to the fourth quarter with up 10 points.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: Infili, right, this is being, I think marketed as a bit of a disaster, but I will say this.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_00]: Here's a list of who was either injured.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_00]: or did not play in this game on Sunday for the Eagles.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_00]: Sake one Barclay, Lane Johnson, Quinion Mitchell, Landon Dickerson, Dallas, Goddard, Devontis Smith, Zach Bonn, and Jonathan Grinard.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, do you shovel a pile of you know what on this coaching staff, when arguably eight of their nine best players are not in the game from a majority of the game against one of the best teams in football, or do you say, this is a game you got on your up 10 points going into the fourth quarter.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_00]: You have Vic Van Gio.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: You got to close it out.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think you can give the coaching staff grace while acknowledging that there are real problems.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think the offensive line is as good as it has been.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: A part of that is Lyndon Dickerson, who wasn't very good when he was in there and admitted that himself, right?
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: Part of it may be the age with Lane Johnson and with Lane Johnson and Jordan Milata getting older and Lane Johnson, obviously not being in this game,
- 37:44[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so like if your foundation has been on the offensive line for all of these years and now it's not there the same way it has been and that's going to take a chunk out of you.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: You got a first year offensive coordinator who didn't have much coaching experience to begin with in Sean Manion.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: And the past rush is relatively non-existent.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, there's a green art injury, but green art wasn't great last year for the Vikings, which is why he was available.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's also a little bit older.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna be 30 and May.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I, I just, I look, I'm, again, you start to put the pieces together and I mean, it's still a good team.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think it's what it has been the last few years.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: And this is what I meant over the summer when I said, I think they're gonna level off.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: is because like I think the areas where they've been incredibly strong, I mean for the most part over the last 15 years, they are a little less so now.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: And that's gotta take a chunk out of you, right?
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think that we're seeing certainly a bit of a hangover from, and it's hard, right?
- 38:57[SPEAKER_00]: Because how we rose them and I think kept this team going through various cycles and iterations by drafting really well by hitting in free agency.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_00]: But, I mean, it's some point the totality of that just has to catch up with you.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_00]: You're picking late every year, you're getting picked apart in free agency every year.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_00]: any time you get a decent offensive coordinator is getting yanked out and becoming a head coach somewhere.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_00]: And then you're firing the ones who aren't.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then you're firing the ones who aren't sure.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, what interests me about this team, I think, is specifically related to the second half offense.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's it's beyond bad.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's one of the worst.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_00]: And in some categories,
- 39:44[SPEAKER_00]: You would say specifically that that's a coordinator issue, but I think that we sometimes, we misunderstand the nature of like half time where you can go in and like think for a second and like make these big large-scale adjustments.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's not really true.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, no, I mean, you're like, you better start, you know, I mean, just so people understand this and I'll try to keep this brief.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: So people's eyes don't glaze over, let's do it.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: But you only have a certain amount of plays that are in for every game, right?
- 40:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like you don't have the whole playbook available to you every week, correct.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and so you can adjust and you can make changes, but you can't like just tear the whole thing up and start over at halftime.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the way it works.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't like a Saturday morning five football game, you know what I mean?
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like, so there is only so much you can do.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: So here's the other thing, Connor.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how these problems are going to resolve themselves.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I think, you know, we're kind of ignoring the obvious if we think that.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_01]: John John the Grinard I liked to pick up is he a primary pass pressure at this point in this career.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have a great year last year in Minnesota.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's now 29 years old going to be 30 in May, like we said earlier.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: Sake Juan Barclay isn't his ninth year.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like is he suddenly going to have great health the rest of the year or is this all the injury history and the mileage catching up with him?
- 41:13[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive tackles, lane johnson misses the game yesterday, you know, he's in what is it year I want to see for 14 right you have Jordan Milato who's over 30 on the other side and so like I just you know you kind of start going through this and it's like I don't know where the problem and again, but does not mean they're a bad team.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying that at all, but I don't think that they are what they've been.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_00]: Um, part of me, those things again.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, not to harp on the play calling, but you are two yards from the end zone.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's third down.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_00]: Toish push, toish push right like we know the formula here and instead, I mean, the play call on third and two is this strange sort of like.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_00]: offensive line crowded 14 personnel fake inverted handoff backspin thing where hurts looks around and there's nobody there and he's just got to end up running into a brick wall and then you're throwing and then you're throwing on on fourth down which was the right call by the way I mean that didn't effect the game overall like you you were still up to scores a field goal wouldn't have really done anything for you in that situation.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you ended up losing by four points anyway.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: You would have had to go for the touchdown.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, we'll see.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, I think this is an Eagle team.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I grew with that.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think you're, you would have taken the points there.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think if you go up 23 to 10.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_00]: It probably just the tenor of it a little bit.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: It just in it and it allows you to play defense a little bit differently.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, just on that final drive for the Rams, if the Rams are down 23, 17.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now you're able to do a little bit more to protect the end zone, you know, and you're able to play it.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think a little bit of a different way.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not saying what I made a difference, but I think it can change things when it's, you know, okay, like we need to touch down on this drive rather than we need to feel the goal.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_00]: Let's let's move on Albert.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think
- 43:29[SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple, there's a couple good ones here that are really quick on the Rams.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: She's like, like, one thing on the Rams I want to add.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: This.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think like we're seeing the Rams kind of become what they're going to become and this felt like a latter day Tom Brady type of performance from Matthew Stafford where it doesn't matter how far out of it they look and this was the case at the end of the Denver game too yeah like they always have a chance when he's out there, you know, so I would just add that that I
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, again, like they'll get my old scare back.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: They'll get Aaron Johnnell's legs underneath them.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: They got hookin' to Kua back.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 44:12[SPEAKER_00]: This was a big one for the Rams.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, having a guy that just goes out there.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Kua, you just noticed it.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_00]: Again, it was depleted Eagle's secondary.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 44:23[SPEAKER_00]: what he might cost you an OPI once in a while, if he just makes up for it like he just beats a secondary down.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's ruthless, the way that he plays.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_00]: All right, give us one more to go deep on and then we got some one liners for the rest of the games here from the weekend.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 44:43[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think Patriot spills is where we're going to look at.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: What I was going to take, yeah, and I think it's because this was such a back against the wall game for New England, and they were without three or their four highest paid players.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_01]: So no Christian Marmore, no Christian Gonzalez, no AJ Brown.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I think
- 45:07[SPEAKER_01]: If you lived up here, where I live, you'd hear the narratives all week, and there was probably more pressure on the Patriots this week than there has been at any time since Tom Brady left.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I just think like there were a lot of big picture of questions, some of the off-season stuff with Brable came up during the week, you know, a Drake may, like not only locally, but nationally, like had the legitimacy of last season thrown into question, you know, and I think they answered that in a really big way.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think this was a culture when for Mike Brable and his team came in and was able to put its best foot forward and
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: play tough physical game they rush for 143 yards and Drake just making the throws down the stretch and being able to come part mentalizes mistakes to you know that was a
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: That that that that play at the end of the first half, not really his fault, you know, but DL for picks that off, you know, a bad fumble earlier in the game and I just think, you know, for Drake to be able to with everything going on to be able to compartmentalize that and bring the team back, you know, at the end and go on a play 73 yard drive.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, make the big throw to have to and chism under pressure on 3rd and 5.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_01]: When...
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: When, like, it didn't, the season was on the line, but it's sort of might have felt that way to some people.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: And certainly I think winning the division would have been pretty tough to envision if they hadn't won.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think all the way around in A plus performs.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I, the Buffalo side of it was, I gave them a ton of credit last week, right?
- 47:00[SPEAKER_01]: Ton of credit for winning with five turnovers in 10 penalties
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: They looked a little loose.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: They looked a little loose.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't tackle well in this game.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't tackle well.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't tackle well.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_01]: They turned them all over.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: That throw by Josh Allen at the end of the game.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what he was doing.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: Just watching that thing into double coverage.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's been criticism of the way Sean McDermott coached him.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and, and, and, and I, I think Joe Brady has brought an aggression out in him that we've seen over the first month of the season, but I, there's a balance that are going to have to strike here too, you know, and I don't think that was a smart play at the end of the game to just throw it up, you know, on the play that that that that woods and pick them off on.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_00]: You see when he, uh,
- 48:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, do we honestly know?
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: Do we honestly know what to do with that?
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I can't really play them.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: I've never seen a, I've never seen a throw away quite like that one before.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think if they had called grounding, it would have been a safety, right?
- 48:30[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yeah, or close to it.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, close to it.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because it was in the, yeah, the throw took place in the end.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I think I think big cultural win for the patriots, I think that they could have hung with Buffalo, the way that Buffalo is playing it over time, but you're right.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like, let's put Josh Allen in Patrick Mahomes' shoes or any other of the top elite top quarterbacks.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_00]: Allen, I think, sometimes gets sloppy play excuse because he's always kind of had that drunk cowboy style.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_00]: But that pick at the end of the game, you had three time outs left.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_00]: And there was a minute 15 to go.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_00]: He was second down.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, like calm down.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_00]: that felt like
- 49:18[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I used to cover baseball and on on a Sunday at the end of like a of a weekend series.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_00]: Teams are packing up and you know, it's like the guy who takes all these pitches to prolong the game and everyone in the dugouts like come on dude.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get out of here.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and I just felt like that was Josh has been like, all right, we're all tired.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to get us out.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, let's just let's just punch the clock on this one.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_00]: Good bye.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what he was seeing it.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what he could.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_01]: It was just like it was a weird play.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_01]: It lacked situational awareness, you know what I mean?
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and again, like if that's fourth down or whatever and there's 30 seconds left and you absolutely need to touch down and you want to get the team down there in position, I get it.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_01]: I just, the second and six.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, look, the bills are gonna, the big ones for the pictures, the bills are gonna look back on this.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_01]: and think we blew it.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_01]: We blew it out of the day.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_01]: They lose DJ Moore and at all over in game, which is obviously a huge deal for them.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_01]: Two of their very best players, Patriots were short handed to and felt like the Patriots handled it a little bit better.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there were a lot of things for Buffalo that worked.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the past rush was good, Russo again looks like one of the best defensive players in all football,
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I don't think the second, I mean, some of the Patriot catches were like dogs, his touchdown catch, chism's catch, touchdown catch, like we're spectacular, you know.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: So I think on a, on a day when they, when they didn't have Christian Benford, which is a big deal too, um, you know, like the, the, the, the, the defense wasn't horrible, um, the bills are definitely going to look back at this one and think like we let them get away with one here.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_00]: What you would call it missed a wide open arcade to a two point conversion like it was just a weird Josh day it was funny sand months and who I love said today Josh Allen played a lot like week one through four Drake may and Drake may played a lot like weeks one through Josh Allen right like it was just one of those games.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's hit the rest of the league here and get a little bit of intel on each of the remaining games.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_00]: Colts 30, Commander's 13, this was Albert, the debut of Athens.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_00]: Cali, come on us is that pronounced correctly.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_01]: I watched him play in college.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's a play for two separate big 10 schools Rutgers and Illinois in a soda.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_01]: I can tell you he's probably Greek.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he's he's Greek That's known and so I I kept calling him just Greek Tommy to veto on Sunday because it's it basically the same thing right.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a very it's like a very
- 52:11[SPEAKER_00]: Very stereotypical in one, you know, you just got like Tommy Vito's got a very Italian last name.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, okay, we're doing this with like Greeks and, you know, I don't know if there's any other kind of, you know, whatever you could do about it, but yeah, Greek Tommy Vito played for the commander's on Sunday and, and he did okay, but the commanders are in deep water now, was everything going on there.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_00]: But warming up kind of situation.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, and this is fair to say it.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't fair to say it, but because he's had like, he's mischained Daniels for like 12 games.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I think a lot of it was was front office moves to be honest with you, but I mean, the coach often pays the price for these things.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think it's just, yeah, I mean, right now they're one in three.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: I would say yes.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_01]: On the cold side, like the cold to them, and get knocked out.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_01]: The cold to effectively pull their season out of the fire now.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_01]: They're two and two.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Jonathan Taylor was a huge factor in this one.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: And like his numbers don't jump out, but just watching it, you can see the effect that he was having on the game.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, it's another example of running back helping manage injuries, right?
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and so Alec Pierce is now there.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: They are really hurt in at the receiver spot and Jonathan Taylor is able to sort of settle the waters keep them in manageable situations on a day when Daniel Jones didn't have this fastball.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the colds are now in a spot where.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_01]: All right, like they get the Steelers next week, the Titans the week after that, then the Vikings, I mean, they could start to put a few wins together here and and be very much in it with the Jaguars in the ASC South.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars, by the way, will full get to them in a second.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_00]: Bears 23.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_00]: Chets 12, Ben Johnson is a second-to-vigual who put case kingdom on the field for one play, just so he could say that case kingdom was technically the starter because news broke that he was going to start Tyson Badgen and this is a week after he railed against a column that I wrote just pointing out the fact that the only two quarterbacks that he had
- 54:30[SPEAKER_00]: It worked called Plays4 at the NFL level where Jared Goff and Caleb Williams were both pretty good.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_00]: And so we were just waiting for him to have that Sean Peyton and Teddy Bridgewater moment of course.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think Ben took that as a saying that he cannot do it, which you know, whatever, feed your fire.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_00]: However, you want to feed it.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_00]: But this was another big win for the bears as they stay afloat and this race is going to get Caleb Williams back and just start smoking people again.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I mean, three quarterbacks.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: They've won games with three different quarterbacks now.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: They're three wins.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to, he's going to have, they had, they had, they had 492 yards and 34 first downs.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, more first downs in the chat's ran plays.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to play Colston Lovelin at quarterback just to make me look like a jackoff at some point.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, and they didn't get a little fortunate to because Tyson Beijing actually threw four picks.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's just three of four in game type by penalty.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so, but I mean, it's another example of just, uh, the offensive was a, was a, was a jury of Ben Johnson who looks like he's operating on a completely different level than everybody else right now.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_00]: Aaron Glenn getting a little darker early there and I'll say this Albert.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I've covered this franchise for a long time, the press conference where you're like stop bringing up the jet's past and history of an aptitude and it's the media's fault.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm blocking the negativity out of the locker room.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's usually the part where you can you can check that off and be like, okay, we're like, you know, and no fence to Aaron, I think this was a tough
- 56:03[SPEAKER_00]: spot to walk into your coming off of the remnants of that that just that wild Aaron Rodgers era where they tried to max that roster out and then you trade away to your best players and yada yada.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_00]: But I think this is one of these situations where teams got three first round picks coming up and it just doesn't look like he can handle the job.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's 22
- 56:25[SPEAKER_00]: Bangle 17, Jacksonville is one of the three best teams in the NFL to shut down the chiefs running game.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry, the Bangle's running game the way that they did.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_00]: Chase Brown had nine carries for 10 yards.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's 1.1 yards per carry.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_00]: You force Joe Burrow to drop back 54 times and you might normally say,
- 56:51[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want the whole focus of the Bengals off season was to take stuff like that off of his plate to work the under center game to try to get something more out of the action and so I think this to me.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_00]: just showed how they can hone in.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this defense is tactical, and they just, you know, on a day where Bretton's strange is your leading lead receiver.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, huge cash down the stretch from him.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, by the way, that Duke that he put on T, Higgins after picking them off, we split one of the sickest things I've ever seen.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the ability to transition from picking off the ball to now all of a sudden, like I'm a punt returner was incredible.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think I better start scrubbing the internet of all my anti-traveled center takes because they're gonna look pretty dumb, you're pretty soon.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_01]: And you just mentioned taking it off of a quarter back, right?
- 57:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like Trevor Lawrence, 18 of 23, 227, touchdown.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_01]: 120, 2.3 rating.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is what happens when a quarter back can just play within the offense.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I,
- 57:55[SPEAKER_01]: I, like, I'm very impressed with the Jaguars, top to bottom.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_01]: I, I think it's a complete team.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have a lot of holes.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_01]: They just mode through the Browns, who we found out are better than people think.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_01]: They mode through the Patriots.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_01]: And now they go in a Cincinnati and win.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'll say it here today.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_01]: They are a threat to get to Anglewood.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I think so too.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_00]: They're one of the three or four best teams in the NFL.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_00]: Giants 36 Cardinals 24.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to get too hung up on this one, but three TDs for the Jamest Coaster and I will say this Albert, and I think this is something that we can agree on.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_01]: performance against you know you know it makes me happy and and look like it does make be a little miserable knowing that the last three but maybe the top three contenders for defensive rookie of the year all from Ohio state which means we should have won the whole thing last year um but especially with Jeremiah Smith on the other side of the ball but
- 59:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's the freakish highlight clips that you're seeing now of him like shedding a block and then tackling somebody in the flat.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I saw all year last year.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like he does things that you should not be able to physically do.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_01]: And he's smarter than people think and that he has a way of leaving his responsibility.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_01]: when it's a responsible thing to do to do it, having the sense for that and going and making a play elsewhere, that's just impossible for an offense to account for.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the best way I can describe it.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna send you like a stab move that he put on an offensive tackle.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_01]: Now is no high-o-university offensive tackle.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_01]: You guys still three hundred and ten pounds.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_00]: Classic book, I self-suffering.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_01]: I need to talk to him.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_01]: And he took him.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_01]: And we don't need to talk about Notre Dame schedule.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_01]: And we took him with the stab move and literally held the guy up like it was like freaking mortal combat like this and then shed him and made the tackle.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_01]: So you're going to see tons more freakish stuff from him.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_01]: I, I, I, I, I treated this before he came on.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_01]: Within a year, it is going to look unfair that the giants have had dual Carter and our bellaries together.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_01]: And that's without even getting to maybe they get Brian Burns back next year and what's he gonna be, but Carter and Reese have a chance to be a
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_01]: franchise changing combination of defense of players for for for for the giants.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_00]: Packer 17 bucks 14.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_00]: We got spicy Matt LaFlor on the podium after this one.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's got to be tough when you're racked by injuries and then you lose Cooper and this one too.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but it's like,
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_00]: Alongside this and I think everybody knows what LaFlor is dealing with, but when you're a, when you're the head coach of the Packers and you only sign that short term extension, everybody knows kind of the tight rope that you're walking at this point.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a lot of coaching error in this, I mean, he's had some tactical mistakes and games, but it's a lot of like fumbles.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know, yeah, procedural penalties stuff like that.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think he's feeling it and to barely beat the box at this point with an undrafted free agent at quarterback play pretty well all things considered by the way.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's it's one of those wins at like, all right, you get out of there and you can get some breathing room and you hope that like we're one week closer to Mike Parsons come back and maybe just altering our course here a little bit.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_01]: I agree and you know the issue for them is they've got the bears next and they've got the bears and we'll see Parsons is eligible to come back this week by the way.
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how many people expect that, but if it's no Parsons, no Cooper,
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a tough road to hope, but at the very least, like it makes like losing that game, not like cataclysmic, right?
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_01]: And then you hope you can get Parsons back and maybe get yourself back up to level ground.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's another one like like New England.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_01]: Things got loud there over the last week in a way.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_01]: They haven't long time, you know, about LaFlor, about love, about a lot of people there.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so, I think being able to respond in that fashion on the road, against a Tampa team that was just as desperate as they were, I think you give them a check mark for that.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see where it goes from here.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_00]: DV away Aaron Schatz had that kind of landmark statistic.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_00]: And the 20, 26 buck and years and Texans are two of the best O and four teams ever.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's just really funny.
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know,
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're good are there.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_00]: Ravens 24 Titans 18 Marjacks and exits this one, but could have come back.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think was what Jesse Menter said.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, one.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_00]: Cardinal tape breakout game nine catches for 145 yards, but you know,
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_00]: Tennessee, because I think we know Baltimore's playing well, this is when they just need to get through without any kind of a disaster.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_01]: Baltimore's saying this Dallas coming back off of Rio, like I just, this is sort of one of the things like, let's get out of this unscathed, right?
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_01]: So, and they play on Sunday night next week against Atlanta, but like yeah,
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_01]: They're not leaving Baltimore, that's where they are, but get out of this one and get out of this one with the win.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I just continue to look at the Cam Ward thing here, you know, with the Titans and I just, I don't know.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think part of the camward thing and you guys can look it up, there was a kind of a tourist post game exchange and he said, I'm only going to be here for three minutes, whatever, didn't really want to go into the room.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think there was a backstory to that, like there was sort of a, like an inside joke component to this with camward and these guys after the game, however, your own four.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_00]: we're not showing a ton of meaningful progress.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm just telling people, this team is opening a stadium next year.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_00]: And they're not gonna do it with this version of the Titans because I don't know if PSL sales are, I don't know how everything's going here.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're opening a new stadium, you can't do it as presently constructed.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I wonder if this is a team where they're like,
- 1:04:42[SPEAKER_00]: hard reset on all this.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that takes away from the job that Robert Sol is doing in totality here, but this season is drifting into a dark place.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know about that.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure that they would hit the hard reset now.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're at the point where she's the the owner.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_01]: She's made so many changes that you almost have to stick with it, right?
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think you have to stick with it, yeah.
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I think like really what's going to be critical for all of those guys, the coordinators, the head coach, the GM, for an office people, is that the young town, they put on that roster and Cardinal Tates in that category.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_01]: looks good in the last four or six eight weeks this season right so you're building towards that but I certainly think that the quarterback questions the one we're going to be watching going forward now which is like if they are picking in the top five which looks like they're going to be picking in the top five and there are quarterbacks or they've going that high which it looks like there's at least at least going to be a couple of those.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_01]: is it is it is a time for the the tightness to go down that road again and I've mentioned it before but if archmaning were to play well can you imagine the pressure there would be I'm a guy's in there to draft him because of obviously the connections to the state there and also opening the new stadium.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_00]: Vikings 15, Dolphins 10, the Kyler Murray thing.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think just, again, I think we have to wait.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna take a little bit of time.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, really this is his second complete start of the season.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_00]: That said, I think that the Vikings could have used a little bit more of a like, show of strength against the worst roster in the NFL.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_00]: You, you live to fight another day, you're over four no, man.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_01]: I would say two things about number one, the brine floor is defense is like so you know, since halftime, that's sustainable, though, there's a number one in the league and points aloud since halftime of the opener against the packers, they've allowed two touchdowns.
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's three and a half games, two touchdowns.
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it's sustainable because the like there is age on that defense, right?
- 1:06:54[SPEAKER_01]: But a cashman's older, Andrew van Ginko's older Harrison Smith is older, who I think our editor John Plume had some colorful thoughts on him, Byron Murphy is older, you know, so they've got some age on the defense, which is sort of, I think like kind of like the catch 22 there because it's kind of required that you have experienced guys to run the show out there if you're going to run floors and scheme, right?
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_01]: But the Viva is absolutely carried them to this point.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think Murray started to make some throws at the end of that game.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_01]: And now you see if it can carry over.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't play well early, but I think at the end of that game you started to see he's getting comfortable with TJ Hawkins and one of the big criticisms on Kyle has been his ability to throw over them and always saw a little bit more of that at the end of the game.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, man, they go to New Orleans next week, then they have their buy.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, if you can get to five and no and kind of get to your buy and reassess a little bit, you know, they do have a pretty sizable cushion here to work with.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_00]: In cut, like you said, I think Kylo was 14 of his last 15 or something like that.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_00]: And he did heat up in this one, although you can hear JJ McCarthy say, why didn't that man?
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_00]: Just what I did it.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just real quick.
- 1:08:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just real quick, too.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think the dolphins, I, I, Jacob Rodriguez is another defensive player.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob are our Jacob Rodriguez.
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_01]: Look, it's good.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_01]: They're rookie class and general looks good.
- 1:08:23[SPEAKER_00]: Even proctors looked good.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_01]: Lots of guys playing, you know, meaningful snaps.
- 1:08:27[SPEAKER_01]: The
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Ollie Gordon looked really good as a young player with Devon H and obviously down for the year now.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_01]: And so like I, there's a light at the end of the tunnel for the dolphins here.
- 1:08:41[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, some of the investment into like Marie setting, we're taking on the dead money, we're going to be really young.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think you could see dividends paid for what they're going through right now.
- 1:08:53[SPEAKER_00]: 49ers 24 Broncos 14 as Adam Schein said I'm going to try to do it.
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to try to do an Adam Schein.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_00]: Brock Turber, right?
- 1:09:03[SPEAKER_01]: He, uh, the, the, they teach at Voice of Syracuse.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's good.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_00]: Brock Birdie is probably your league MVP through through the first month of the season.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_00]: Debo Samuel might have been your best free agent pick up, but in terms of value and production, so far this season, but the San Francisco 49er's defense has allowed the lowest percentage of explosive plays in the NFL.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_00]: And Denver got down in this game.
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that the interesting part of about this one
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_00]: a mere image of the Rams game.
- 1:09:50[SPEAKER_00]: This was a 10 3 game going into the fourth quarter.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, the Broncos did have 11 fourth quarter points, but San Francisco had the ability to just shut the door on Denver, whereas their division rivals couldn't the week before.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think like finishing me in the finish games earlier this year on offense, being able to finish the game the way this week on defense.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's, you know, like I, you know, there's in front of Warner said this to me last night he said, I think the people didn't, I don't know.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_01]: I guess they didn't really take us very seriously before this season because we did have a lot of guys who are quote unquote older and guys who were coming up with injuries, you are older Fred.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:10:33[SPEAKER_01]: your team is older than there have been a lot of injuries, but credits them for fighting through all that, you know, no Nick Bosa for almost the entire year to this point, designed struggling, obviously they lose him early on too.
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_01]: You guys that they expected to play big roles.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I mean, there's that element of it, you know, George Kittles coming off of
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how much you've expected him at his age to produce off his Achilles, but here he is with a long touchdown to win this game.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like so, I think it's a group of guys and this is like come up from talking to a couple of their guys over the course of the last few weeks.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a group of guys that's performing with a level of urgency that kind of
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_01]: is fueled by, we don't know how many more shots we're going to get with this group.
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and it's a special group of players, a lot of those guys were there for two super bowls, you know, and so like we don't know how many more shots of it at at we're going to get.
- 1:11:31[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to make the most of it and they're playing really well, credit to them.
- 1:11:36[SPEAKER_00]: All right, moving on Albert, we have the Panthers and the Lions.
- 1:11:43[SPEAKER_00]: The Lions have had two of the five worst single defensive performances of the year.
- 1:11:51[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, credit to the Panthers, this was the Ted Arohr McMillan.
- 1:11:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a monster.
- 1:11:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm legitimately one of the best wide receivers in football and you can't take that away from me game.
- 1:12:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm watching for.
- 1:12:06[SPEAKER_00]: big guy who moves like a little guy you know what I mean like 14 catches a hundred 92 yards and really like big clutch back breaking receptions you know tough spots and a critical times right um and I think that's it matters more but also like
- 1:12:24[SPEAKER_00]: Why would the lions singling him with just like a a safety over the top thing.
- 1:12:28[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think so we've seen the cameras in a thin Campbell we've seen he had he wasn't afraid to do this his first year where he pulled a plug on Ben Johnson or I'm not a Ben Johnson on on Anthony Lynn is the offensive coordinator and that's the transition to Ben Johnson president right like he's shown a willingness to do these things.
- 1:12:51[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think Calvin Shepard has to answer for this now if you look at the lions as they're constructed and shoot maybe if you wait some other two weeks he can have air and Glenn back.
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_00]: Not not be to not be in a jerk about it, but if you look at the lions.
- 1:13:12[SPEAKER_00]: coaching staff as presently constructed.
- 1:13:15[SPEAKER_00]: I believe Jim O'Neill has called it before.
- 1:13:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because there's safety's coach.
- 1:13:22[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 1:13:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I remember Jim covering Jim as part of the, yeah, didn't you like play for Mike Patton in high school or something like that or he was at that.
- 1:13:30[SPEAKER_01]: Look at that the high school in a reality show with Mike Patton as the head coach back in like 2000.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you know about this.
- 1:13:38[SPEAKER_00]: I knew about the reality show.
- 1:13:40[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know if he was a part of that team, but I do know.
- 1:13:44[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:13:44[SPEAKER_00]: So yes, he was a defensive coordinator for the Browns in 2014 and 2015 when Patton was the head coach of the Browns.
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_00]: in 2021 and 2022.
- 1:14:05[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of what you're looking at.
- 1:14:08[SPEAKER_00]: Now I will save this for Jim, that tree.
- 1:14:13[SPEAKER_00]: what Mike Patton and Rex did is effectively what everyone is doing now.
- 1:14:20[SPEAKER_00]: What Mike Patton and Rex did in 2010 when Jim O'Neill was a member of that staff is what everybody's doing now.
- 1:14:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of sim pressure.
- 1:14:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of loading guys up, not forcing the quarterback to guess it's coming.
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot higher of a pressure rate.
- 1:14:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's more aggressive.
- 1:14:36[SPEAKER_00]: Still a lot of man coverage.
- 1:14:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, maybe maybe that's the move here.
- 1:14:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 1:14:43[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, but of the teams that I think need to make some sort of a categorical change, the Houston Texans being one, the Lions have to do something about this, because we were just picked apart.
- 1:14:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they do have some other experience guys on their staff.
- 1:14:58[SPEAKER_01]: Casey Rogers, I believe has coordinator experience.
- 1:15:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 1:15:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's right.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_01]: He was, yeah, he was Todd Bowles, the events of coordinator with the jets.
- 1:15:10[SPEAKER_01]: Look, part of this is like the fallout from Terran Arnold.
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't play great for them to begin with, but they did invest a first round pick in him.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_01]: And there are some reinforcements coming in that they still don't have Brian Branch, who is like one of their best players, and they still don't have Kirby Joseph, you know.
- 1:15:33[SPEAKER_01]: And so like those things, I mean, look, those things matter, you know?
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:15:41[SPEAKER_01]: I just think like I think the lines have to act with some level of urgency based on the group that they have.
- 1:15:47[SPEAKER_01]: And again, we talk about the urgency and the opportunity in front of you and it's not going to last forever.
- 1:15:52[SPEAKER_01]: And the offense is so good.
- 1:15:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 1:15:54[SPEAKER_01]: The offense is so much talent and ability on that side of the ball.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Every week I watched Gibbs and I'm like there was a play he had it looked like a power to the left where like he made like four guys miss in like tight quarters and went running up the sideline last last night.
- 1:16:14[SPEAKER_01]: Same brown is one of the most reliable guys in football test law looks like he's coming along obviously J. Mo.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_01]: You had the big catch down the field.
- 1:16:22[SPEAKER_01]: I know he's still not perfect.
- 1:16:24[SPEAKER_01]: But it's just like, they've got this opportunity on offense, and I don't think the bereft of talent on defense, something needs to change on that side of the ball, you know?
- 1:16:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know what it is, but it's not working through four weeks.
- 1:16:39[SPEAKER_00]: Man, Devin Lloyd has changed things for this Panthers defense, but just great acquisition, this team is they look different.
- 1:16:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that their defense is good enough to win the NFC South, right?
- 1:16:53[SPEAKER_00]: They're good enough to win the NFC South.
- 1:16:56[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that the line's defense is good enough to hang on in this case.
- 1:17:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's good together, right?
- 1:17:03[SPEAKER_01]: The other thing I would mention is like, Bryce Young, to me,
- 1:17:08[SPEAKER_01]: I remember Bill O'Brien giving me because Bill O'Brien was a associate Alabama.
- 1:17:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like when I talked to Billy about him before the draft in 2003, you know, he made this Steph Curry comparison to me.
- 1:17:21[SPEAKER_01]: He said like, you know, that's like, it's a weird comparison, but it's kind of like this undersized guy who has just great sense and is able to make up for his shortcomings with instincts and poise.
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I think when we knew seeing Bryce Young at his best, he looks so calm in the pot.
- 1:17:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost jarring how calm he looks in the pocket and you're seeing that with him.
- 1:17:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like the way he's able to kind of see the field and process it and you just watch him, like the way that he, it's like that droob breeze like calm in the pocket, you know.
- 1:17:53[SPEAKER_01]: And, um,
- 1:17:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really impressed with the job that Bryce has done turning his career around over the last year and a half.
- 1:18:00[SPEAKER_01]: Dave Canalis obviously had a big big hand in that and it looks like he's going to make this decision on the pretty pretty difficult in the pan if there's no weather or not to pay him.
- 1:18:10[SPEAKER_00]: Give that guy 70 million bucks.
- 1:18:12[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care.
- 1:18:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's not my money.
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_00]: Um, last we got the chargers and the seahawks credit to L.A. for mounting fighting.
- 1:18:20[SPEAKER_00]: Come back in this one.
- 1:18:22[SPEAKER_01]: Really, uh, you know, and Justin Herbert took a freaking beating and kept coming.
- 1:18:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I, there were a couple of those plays.
- 1:18:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about you.
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was hurt.
- 1:18:31[SPEAKER_01]: Nice.
- 1:18:31[SPEAKER_01]: You.
- 1:18:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there was the one he took that looked like a textbook high ankle sprain that like, I mean, he just, it was like, all right, he's out of the game and I was like putting together a tweet and I look up and he's like in the hotel.
- 1:18:42[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, how did that happen?
- 1:18:44[SPEAKER_00]: When when he bombed the fourth down to, um, to Quentin Johnston, yeah, as they were coming back in that one.
- 1:18:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I believe that was the drive where they set, they did the first down field goal trick, which was cool.
- 1:18:57[SPEAKER_00]: because then they knew that they needed the 10 points so they had to get the ball back they wanted to keep all their timeouts.
- 1:19:02[SPEAKER_00]: But when Quentin Johnson makes the big contested catch, I was like this is where the season turns around.
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like a Mario and Hampton said a touchdown.
- 1:19:11[SPEAKER_00]: Quentin Johnson yanks down a catch like this is where the season turns and then they had
- 1:19:17[SPEAKER_00]: really bone-to-headed, late hit call on Sam Darnold and I think that the game kind of cascaded out a control from that point.
- 1:19:27[SPEAKER_00]: They needed that one.
- 1:19:30[SPEAKER_00]: Jim Harba back to Mike McDonald after the game said there's not going to be any changes.
- 1:19:34[SPEAKER_00]: You can't really at this point.
- 1:19:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you could make it.
- 1:19:39[SPEAKER_00]: They're pot committed to them.
- 1:19:40[SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing I mean like and honestly like,
- 1:19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Because of the staff that they have and it's kind of like mashed together.
- 1:19:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know that you have some of you can call it.
- 1:19:51[SPEAKER_01]: So you ride this out, make Daniel smart.
- 1:19:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like you hope that he can get through the players and and you can get some progress here at 0 and 4.
- 1:20:02[SPEAKER_01]: We've been over there schedule so much.
- 1:20:03[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I hope people who wasn't to show regularly have burned in their brains because
- 1:20:09[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's something that's been a factor all along and they get Denver coming off a loss next week, which I think that's actually winnable for them.
- 1:20:19[SPEAKER_01]: Then go to arrowhead and after the buy the Rams the Texans and the Ravens.
- 1:20:25[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to hell, um, I mean, uh, yeah, poor chargers.
- 1:20:31[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I picked you to go 11 and 6.
- 1:20:33[SPEAKER_00]: I picked the Texans to go to the Super Bowl.
- 1:20:35[SPEAKER_00]: I would avoid me.
- 1:20:36[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I am nuclear and radioactive, but you know what?
- 1:20:41[SPEAKER_00]: not anything else to do with this show is radioactive.
- 1:20:43[SPEAKER_00]: We're a lot of fun.
- 1:20:44[SPEAKER_00]: We're having a good time.
- 1:20:45[SPEAKER_00]: You can find us on SITV.
- 1:20:47[SPEAKER_00]: You can find us on the YouTube's.
- 1:20:49[SPEAKER_00]: You can find Albert on TikTok.
- 1:20:51[SPEAKER_00]: He does the dances and everything.
- 1:20:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's great.
- 1:20:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so figuring it out.
- 1:20:55[SPEAKER_00]: He shows you how it is in every morning.
- 1:20:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's awesome.
- 1:20:57[SPEAKER_01]: And next week, or later in the week, maybe just maybe we'll give you a breakdown.
- 1:21:04[SPEAKER_01]: Chip Kelly running the wing T. Oh, and Northwestern.
- 1:21:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how much I got.
- 1:21:09[SPEAKER_00]: I was so many.
- 1:21:11[SPEAKER_00]: So many reasons.
- 1:21:12[SPEAKER_01]: He ran 31 trap Connor.
- 1:21:14[SPEAKER_01]: We want a league championship on 31 trap.
- 1:21:17[SPEAKER_01]: Went to the state finals on 31 trap.
- 1:21:19[SPEAKER_00]: As the host, it's my job to shut this down before other bits too deep into his ice pool football memory bag.
- 1:21:25[SPEAKER_00]: But thank you everyone for coming for hanging out this week and we'll be back on Thursday.
- 1:21:32[SPEAKER_00]: Another app of the MNQB pod.
- 1:21:47[UNKNOWN]: You
