- 0:00Speaker 1: And we're back all off season long. We're gonna give
- 0:03Speaker 1: you a free agency, NFL draft and everything else that's
- 0:08Speaker 1: going on in this incredible NFL off season. Stick with us,
- 0:13Speaker 1: be here, hit that sub button if you're new, and
- 0:16Speaker 1: also notification game so you can be notified when everything's
- 0:21Speaker 1: going down. Appreciate you. Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And free agency is ramping up Metro. Everybody signing somebody
- 0:41Speaker 1: except for our guy, Max Crosby. He thought he was signed.
- 0:45Speaker 1: He thought they had a deal, and the Ravens said,
- 0:47Speaker 1: not so fast. My friend will take Trey Hendrickson and
- 0:50Speaker 1: keep our picks. What do you think about what's going on?
- 0:54Speaker 2: What a wild time of the year, Richard. Free agency
- 0:57Speaker 2: is in full swing, and we thought we had a
- 1:00Speaker 2: blockbuster trade. I mean, Max Crosby going to the Ravens
- 1:03Speaker 2: for two first round picks. Now we're hearing overnight a
- 1:08Speaker 2: little bomb dropped in the NFL. That's gonna have some
- 1:10Speaker 2: ripple effects, no doubt about it. I can't imagine the
- 1:14Speaker 2: other teams are too thrilled.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I don't know if you can say that right now.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Probably not the best choice awards, Richard, but but I
- 1:22Speaker 2: suppose the ripple effects portion of that will probably stand
- 1:26Speaker 2: true here, Richard, Max Crosby ultimately going back to the Raiders.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Before we get into the full swing of these these
- 1:34Speaker 2: free agent signings to be here coming up later this afternoon,
- 1:39Speaker 2: we got to talk about mad Max. Richard. I know
- 1:42Speaker 2: you spent a number of years in the NFL. You've
- 1:45Speaker 2: had teammates I know that have been battled through injuries.
- 1:48Speaker 2: What are your first thoughts and impressions about the Baltimore
- 1:51Speaker 2: Ratings canceling this deal due to a failed physical from
- 1:56Speaker 2: Max Crosby.
- 1:59Speaker 1: In NFL. So I would imagine it's bad business. It's
- 2:01Speaker 1: bad business, and it's it's it's a bad it's a
- 2:05Speaker 1: black eye on the Baltimore Ravens right now. And I'm
- 2:07Speaker 1: sure other gms are seeing it the same way because
- 2:11Speaker 1: they know how these physicals go. Once you handshake a deal. Everybody,
- 2:17Speaker 1: just about everybody in the NFL would fail a physical.
- 2:19Speaker 1: If you went to a new team and you looked
- 2:21Speaker 1: at them and you mri'd all their their major injuries
- 2:24Speaker 1: and X rayed everything, you'd find something that you could
- 2:27Speaker 1: technically say, hey, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna we're
- 2:31Speaker 1: gonna say no to this one. But for them to
- 2:34Speaker 1: come in with all the information, Neil Elatrosh had already
- 2:38Speaker 1: had communications with them them to say, hey, we lost Lenderenbaum,
- 2:44Speaker 1: we lost Isaiah Likely, we've lost all these guys, and
- 2:49Speaker 1: now we probably need those picks to replenish our roster.
- 2:54Speaker 1: And we weren't expecting to lose those guys. And now
- 2:56Speaker 1: Trey Hendrickson is actually more much more affordable, and we
- 3:00Speaker 1: thought he'd be yikes, we sure wish we could. We
- 3:05Speaker 1: sure wish we could back up and and and do
- 3:07Speaker 1: a redo. And that's what they did, you know, they
- 3:09Speaker 1: they found a reason to say, hey, we're gonna we're
- 3:14Speaker 1: gonna take our picks back. We're gonna pay Trey Trey Hendrickson,
- 3:18Speaker 1: and we're gonna use those picks to replenish our roster
- 3:20Speaker 1: because we weren't expecting to lose the guys that we did.
- 3:23Speaker 1: And is it fair, Yeah, yeah, it's fair. These are
- 3:28Speaker 1: rules and they operated within them technically. And but for
- 3:32Speaker 1: people to to on the out and on the outside,
- 3:36Speaker 1: the none NFL people, uh, it probably seems odd. They're like,
- 3:39Speaker 1: oh man, his knee must be really bad shape to
- 3:41Speaker 1: fell a physical. No. No, there are guys every year
- 3:45Speaker 1: that are traded that could be failed on physicals, like
- 3:48Speaker 1: whether they're traded with an injury designation or they have
- 3:52Speaker 1: an old lingering edge injury. A lot of times it's
- 3:55Speaker 1: it's disclosed when when when Percy Harvin got to the Seahawks,
- 3:59Speaker 1: he had a hip issue that went all the way
- 4:01Speaker 1: back from Minnesota and the Seahawks wanted him, so they
- 4:06Speaker 1: passed him on the physical. I think Mike b had
- 4:09Speaker 1: had some shoulder things that some teams might have looked
- 4:13Speaker 1: at and said, hey, we're not going to pass him,
- 4:15Speaker 1: but the Seahawks were fine with it. You know, there's
- 4:18Speaker 1: an inherent risk on some of these trades that if
- 4:21Speaker 1: you're willing to take the risk and you like the
- 4:23Speaker 1: player that much, you say, okay, like that's fot and
- 4:26Speaker 1: it's not that big of a deal, and it's not
- 4:27Speaker 1: that uncommon in the National Football League. This is very
- 4:30Speaker 1: uncommon to have all the information to make all those
- 4:33Speaker 1: phone calls, to talk to the doctors and bring him
- 4:38Speaker 1: in and then almost make a decision that really has
- 4:43Speaker 1: nothing to do with Max Crosby. It had nothing to
- 4:44Speaker 1: do with anything Max Crosby probably did in his time
- 4:48Speaker 1: while he was in Baltimore for that visit, and more
- 4:52Speaker 1: to do with the guys they weren't able to retain
- 4:55Speaker 1: in free agency that maybe they thought they could retain.
- 5:00Speaker 2: There's no question about it. And the bigger side of
- 5:03Speaker 2: things here is like the Raiders have allocated a ton
- 5:05Speaker 2: of their free cap space to signing guys like Linderbaum,
- 5:09Speaker 2: Kway Walker, Quitty Paya, you know, the Kobe Dean, they
- 5:13Speaker 2: got Tron Johnson. I mean, they've made a ton of
- 5:16Speaker 2: investments into this roster, not knowing that Max Crosby was
- 5:20Speaker 2: going to be part of it. So as an organization
- 5:23Speaker 2: like the Raiders, how do you respond to this news.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I know that they're going into this, you know, rebuild.
- 5:28Speaker 2: They're going to draft Mean Doze out of Indiana. They're
- 5:30Speaker 2: going to have their young rookie quarterback under rookie salary
- 5:33Speaker 2: for the next number of years. They're set up perfectly
- 5:36Speaker 2: having two first round picks, you know, each of the
- 5:39Speaker 2: next two year years to be thrown on this side
- 5:42Speaker 2: of the fence. With getting mad Max back, obviously it
- 5:46Speaker 2: bolsters their defense more. But I don't know if they're
- 5:48Speaker 2: in win now mode. I think they were. You know
- 5:52Speaker 2: the way this played out, they were content with it.
- 5:55Speaker 2: How would you respond to this if you're the Raiders
- 5:58Speaker 2: and making this adjustment on the.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Fly, Well, I don't know. I would have to really
- 6:04Speaker 1: understand their cap situation. And I can't imagine they are
- 6:07Speaker 1: prepared to take back on the thirty million dollars at
- 6:10Speaker 1: Max Crosby is old over the next couple of years.
- 6:13Speaker 1: So there's gonna be some maneuvering, whether that's resetting and
- 6:18Speaker 1: relaunching them on another trade. I think it's hard to
- 6:23Speaker 1: say goodbye and then hello back after that, you know.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Not that any bridges were burned or anything. I think
- 6:29Speaker 1: this was an amicable situation, but I think everybody's minds
- 6:35Speaker 1: were made up that hey, we're moving on. We're going
- 6:38Speaker 1: in a different direction. Raiders are going in a different direction.
- 6:40Speaker 1: We appreciate you. Matt's is like, hey, I don't want
- 6:43Speaker 1: to be here anymore. I appreciate everything that you know
- 6:46Speaker 1: had already typed out the letter, you know, had sent
- 6:48Speaker 1: out the Instagram books, and so I think there's something
- 6:55Speaker 1: to be said about that. I think teams are still
- 6:57Speaker 1: going to be interested. They're not going to get to
- 6:59Speaker 1: first round picks for him, obviously now with with everything
- 7:03Speaker 1: playing out the way it has, but if somebody offers
- 7:06Speaker 1: them a first rounder and maybe a mid round pick,
- 7:09Speaker 1: will they bite and just directify this situation and and
- 7:12Speaker 1: and not have it the absolute disaster and potentially have
- 7:16Speaker 1: to go to some of these free agents and say, hey,
- 7:18Speaker 1: we don't have the money now to pay you the
- 7:20Speaker 1: deal that we offered. You are bad. You know That's again,
- 7:25Speaker 1: it's it's such a huge red flag for guys if
- 7:29Speaker 1: a team does that, and and I don't think they're
- 7:31Speaker 1: gonna do that, So I look, I believe and I
- 7:37Speaker 1: know people are out there like, this is going to
- 7:39Speaker 1: really piss Max Crosby off, and he's gonna be so motive.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Max Crosby's always motivated. Max s Crosby's always playing hard,
- 7:44Speaker 1: He's always playing with his hair on fire. That's just
- 7:47Speaker 1: isn't going to change anything with that. But I definitely
- 7:51Speaker 1: think another team is going to be interested, and I
- 7:53Speaker 1: think the Raiders are still open to doing business.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Well, that's the other side of the fence. It's the
- 7:57Speaker 2: Max Size Crosby side of the fence. I guy, he's
- 8:00Speaker 2: twenty eight years old, he's going to be twenty nine,
- 8:02Speaker 2: going into the season. He obviously wants to play for
- 8:05Speaker 2: a winner, and he deserves to play for a winner.
- 8:07Speaker 2: He's one of the top defensive ends in this league.
- 8:09Speaker 2: You know, how do you see him responding to this?
- 8:12Speaker 2: I know you said he's a consummate pro, but the
- 8:14Speaker 2: reality is, Richard, he wanted out of Las Vegas and
- 8:17Speaker 2: now he's back in Las Vegas. You know, how do
- 8:20Speaker 2: you respond to this situation if you're him?
- 8:24Speaker 1: I think, like I said, the Raiders, we were comfortable
- 8:30Speaker 1: with the picks, and they were comfortable making a plan
- 8:33Speaker 1: without Max Crosby going forward, and I think that's the
- 8:35Speaker 1: same is going to continue to be true. I think
- 8:37Speaker 1: they're going to be comfortable making a plan without Max
- 8:40Speaker 1: Crosby going forward. I think they're going to try to
- 8:42Speaker 1: find the best pick deal they can and send him
- 8:46Speaker 1: to as good of a situation as they possibly can.
- 8:50Speaker 1: That benefit fits both sides. But I have a hard
- 8:53Speaker 1: time believing that he just comes back and stays and
- 8:56Speaker 1: they're able to still do all those deals that they've
- 8:58Speaker 1: already committed to. Over the last couple of days, let's.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Dive into some of your top free agent moves. There's
- 9:05Speaker 2: been a number of moves this year, at this offseason,
- 9:09Speaker 2: and a lot of them affect you know, the teams
- 9:11Speaker 2: that you play for. Let's start from the top, Richard,
- 9:14Speaker 2: You've come up with a list of your top sysm
- 9:16Speaker 2: because I've ben free agent moves. Top of that list
- 9:18Speaker 2: for you is San Francisco forty nine Ers wide receiver
- 9:22Speaker 2: Mike Evans. Who would have saw this coming? I mean,
- 9:26Speaker 2: this is a I'm gonna call it. I think he
- 9:29Speaker 2: deserves to be a first ballot Hall of Famer Richard,
- 9:32Speaker 2: with this track record that he's put on. Obviously, the
- 9:35Speaker 2: thousand yard receison reception per season broke last year with
- 9:40Speaker 2: his injury. But what does this guy provide to the
- 9:43Speaker 2: San Francisco forty nine Ers. The forty nine Ers desperately
- 9:46Speaker 2: needed a deep threat. Mike Evans looks like he's still
- 9:49Speaker 2: got a lot left in the tank. What are your
- 9:51Speaker 2: thoughts on Mike Evans to the San Francisco forty nine Ers.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I think he provides a BONA five number one. Stability
- 9:59Speaker 1: consists and see at the receiver spot, credibility at the
- 10:04Speaker 1: receiver spot, a guy that can separate win one on ones,
- 10:08Speaker 1: command the attention of the defense. He's gonna get clouded,
- 10:11Speaker 1: he's gonna get doubled, and he's going to create more
- 10:15Speaker 1: space and that offense for the rest of those receivers
- 10:17Speaker 1: and tidy ends and running backs to operate a legitimate
- 10:21Speaker 1: threat in this league. And and and he's a guy
- 10:23Speaker 1: that's such a professional, is going to have such a
- 10:26Speaker 1: great and positive effect on the young guys that that
- 10:29Speaker 1: will will be in that receiver room. Uh. He's a
- 10:32Speaker 1: very smart, high i Q football player, a guy that
- 10:35Speaker 1: doesn't mind going out of his way to help the
- 10:38Speaker 1: young guys. That's the kind of veteran leadership. And I mean,
- 10:42Speaker 1: I think San Francisco forty nine ers fans remember me
- 10:45Speaker 1: coming in and how they felt, you know about you know,
- 10:48Speaker 1: the age I was and all the all the stuff
- 10:51Speaker 1: that came with that. But I think they also understood
- 10:55Speaker 1: the impact that I can make on the young guys
- 10:57Speaker 1: and on the culture of the team. And I think
- 10:59Speaker 1: and some ways that that impact still still resonates a
- 11:02Speaker 1: little bit today. And I think Mike is going to
- 11:05Speaker 1: have a very similar impact. He's gonna he's gonna impact
- 11:07Speaker 1: the young guys in a positive way. He's gonna be
- 11:09Speaker 1: a great leader, He's gonna be a likely be a
- 11:12Speaker 1: captain on the offense, uh for this team because of
- 11:15Speaker 1: what he's what he means to this game and the
- 11:19Speaker 1: way he practices in the way he carries himself every
- 11:21Speaker 1: single day. But for Kyle Shanahan, it makes it easier
- 11:25Speaker 1: to draw plays. You know, if you're if you're gonna
- 11:28Speaker 1: double his best receiver, then he can. You know, there's
- 11:31Speaker 1: a lot of space for Kyle Shanahan to work with
- 11:33Speaker 1: if you don't double him. He's a great route runner
- 11:36Speaker 1: in an intermediate space. He's a great deep ball runner.
- 11:39Speaker 1: He's a great one on one, fifty to fifty go
- 11:41Speaker 1: ball catcher. You can throw post to him. He runs
- 11:44Speaker 1: the entire route tree very well. He fits in very
- 11:47Speaker 1: well with the spray outs that Kyle likes to run
- 11:50Speaker 1: and Brock likes to throw. So there's a lot of
- 11:53Speaker 1: ways that this is a is a beautiful relationship. And
- 11:56Speaker 1: you can just go back and look at the history
- 11:58Speaker 1: of Kyle Shanahan when he has great X receivers, I
- 12:01Speaker 1: mean when he had Andre Johnson, he Andre Johnson ate
- 12:05Speaker 1: and Kyle Shanahan's offense, Julio was a little hybrid of both.
- 12:10Speaker 1: But Julio Jones ate in Kyle's offense, like he can
- 12:14Speaker 1: do a lot with these receivers and they'd be very
- 12:18Speaker 1: very productive. If they can consistently separate which Mike can
- 12:22Speaker 1: and get open, It's going to be a beautiful relationship.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I love it, Richard. For the San Francisco forty nine Ers,
- 12:29Speaker 2: this team desperately needed to stabilize that wide receiving room.
- 12:32Speaker 2: You know, two years ago they had one of the
- 12:34Speaker 2: better wide receiving corps in the league with Brandon Ayuk
- 12:37Speaker 2: and Deebo Samuel and obviously Juwan Jennings, and we saw
- 12:41Speaker 2: that all go up in flames. I mean, they paid
- 12:43Speaker 2: Brandon Ayuk, they traded Deebo Samuel. I don't know what's
- 12:47Speaker 2: going on with Brandon Ayuk, but that's looking like one
- 12:51Speaker 2: of the worst moves that they could have made. A
- 12:52Speaker 2: team that needed to be very conscious about the money
- 12:55Speaker 2: that they were spending, knowing that they had to pay
- 12:57Speaker 2: brock perty chose to pray God Brandon Ayuk, who obviously
- 13:01Speaker 2: gets injured, deals with the season he had last year
- 13:03Speaker 2: of not playing. Adding a stable veteran like Mike Evans
- 13:07Speaker 2: to lead that room with Ricky Pursall, He's still got,
- 13:11Speaker 2: you know, a lot to prove as well. I like
- 13:13Speaker 2: this move for San Francisco. Next on your list, Richard,
- 13:16Speaker 2: is the other side of this ripple effect with Max Crosby,
- 13:20Speaker 2: and that's Trey Hendrickson going for below market value obviously
- 13:26Speaker 2: compared to what the Ravens thought he was. They get
- 13:29Speaker 2: him at somewhat of a discount. It appears Trey Hendrickson
- 13:32Speaker 2: to the Baltimore Ravens. What do you think about this
- 13:34Speaker 2: pivot for Baltimore?
- 13:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I think this is a great move for the Ravens.
- 13:39Speaker 1: A guy that's that's been in their division that they've
- 13:42Speaker 1: got to see first hand. Since twenty nineteen, he's had
- 13:45Speaker 1: seventy nine sacks, one hundred and fifty four quarterback hits
- 13:49Speaker 1: in a twelve point three pressure rate, which is a
- 13:52Speaker 1: little bit more than what Max Crosby's done in that
- 13:55Speaker 1: same time. That same amount of time, I think since
- 13:58Speaker 1: twenty nineteen, Max Cross He's had sixty nine and a
- 14:01Speaker 1: half sacks, one hundred and sixty four quarterback hits in
- 14:04Speaker 1: a ten point four pressure rate. So I think they
- 14:06Speaker 1: feel comfortable with Trey Hendrickson's productivity, but also they feel
- 14:11Speaker 1: comfortable with keeping their picks and using those picks to
- 14:17Speaker 1: replace the guys that they lost. They just lost Lindenbaum,
- 14:20Speaker 1: they just lost Isaiah Likely they lost pieces that I
- 14:23Speaker 1: don't know if they were expecting to lose. So these
- 14:27Speaker 1: picks can go a long way towards making up for
- 14:31Speaker 1: those guys. If you if you lose those guys and
- 14:33Speaker 1: just get the pass rusher, that's really dynamic, and you
- 14:37Speaker 1: don't have the picks anymore. I mean, that's a worse
- 14:39Speaker 1: deal for this team. And I think Da Costa recognized that.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Next on your list is a guy you just mentioned,
- 14:44Speaker 2: and that's Tyler Linderbaum. He goes to the Las Vegas
- 14:48Speaker 2: Raiders for whopping twenty seven million dollars a year. Richard,
- 14:52Speaker 2: He is the number one paid center in the league
- 14:55Speaker 2: by a nine million dollar gap, next being Creed Humphrey.
- 15:00Speaker 2: The Raiders needed to get aggressive, you know that they
- 15:02Speaker 2: need to change that identity, and obviously they're they're trying
- 15:06Speaker 2: to bolster that offensive line. Uh, they have Powers Johnson,
- 15:10Speaker 2: that was a new up and coming center from Oregon.
- 15:13Speaker 2: They're projected to move him to guard. Linderbaum comes over
- 15:16Speaker 2: for Baltimore, goes to the Las Vegas Raiders. You like
- 15:20Speaker 2: this move?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Why because I think it really helps unlock Ashton genty
- 15:25Speaker 1: and and everything that he brings. I think this is
- 15:28Speaker 1: going to be a move that that really helps his
- 15:31Speaker 1: career and helps his ability to find an opening in
- 15:34Speaker 1: this offense. This is Linda Baum's one of the best
- 15:37Speaker 1: centers in the National Football League, and obviously the Raiders
- 15:40Speaker 1: feel the same way. He's a guy that that can
- 15:42Speaker 1: can command this offensive line, identify the things that need
- 15:46Speaker 1: to be identified, plays well under pressure, uh and just
- 15:50Speaker 1: does a great job. And I think with this Kobiac
- 15:53Speaker 1: offense and the way they're gonna run the football, they're
- 15:55Speaker 1: gonna run mid wide zone and they got they need
- 16:00Speaker 1: a center that can get things done and can move
- 16:02Speaker 1: and Linderbaum uh fits fits the mold, and I think
- 16:08Speaker 1: they'll surround him with other offensive linemen that are that
- 16:11Speaker 1: are capable, but I think he's the He's the most
- 16:14Speaker 1: important piece to aston Gent's success and this is going
- 16:19Speaker 1: to go a long way to help him.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Are you at all surprised with the number value that
- 16:24Speaker 2: he's getting being nine million dollars more than the next
- 16:27Speaker 2: closest center. I mean, I know the Raiders are going
- 16:29Speaker 2: to have to overpay folks to come into an organization
- 16:33Speaker 2: that is obviously rebuilding right now. But overpaying a center
- 16:36Speaker 2: by nine million more than the next closest one seems
- 16:39Speaker 2: a bit of a shock to me.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's it's definitely a shock. And and you
- 16:45Speaker 1: know it shows that how much they value him. But
- 16:47Speaker 1: you're not going to see that happen again. I don't
- 16:49Speaker 1: think this is going to be a deal that sets
- 16:51Speaker 1: the market for centers. And and you're gonna see all
- 16:54Speaker 1: centers are going to be like, oh man, from now,
- 16:56Speaker 1: oll And centers are getting twenty seven million creed, Humphrey's
- 16:58Speaker 1: getting eighteen. I would expect the next center to maybe
- 17:01Speaker 1: get nineteen. I mean, to pay nine million over market
- 17:05Speaker 1: for a center just insane. But again, the Raiders have struggled,
- 17:09Speaker 1: and to attract, you know, a class free agents, you're
- 17:14Speaker 1: gonna have to overpay. I didn't expect them to overplayed
- 17:16Speaker 1: by nine million, but they felt like that that was
- 17:18Speaker 1: necessary in speed tech, I thought this was necessary to
- 17:22Speaker 1: get a guy that they could change the dynamic of
- 17:24Speaker 1: their offensive guy they really had high on their lists,
- 17:28Speaker 1: and that's gonna do a great job for him. And
- 17:31Speaker 1: you know you're playing center's tackle money. We'll see how
- 17:35Speaker 1: well it works. Today's show us brought to you by
- 17:41Speaker 1: our presenting sponsor, hard Rock Bet. Florida's sportsbook Marsh is

- 18:43Speaker 2: We shall see the Next on your list is Michigan
- 18:46Speaker 2: State's own and former Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl MVP Kennets
- 18:51Speaker 2: Walker K nine fills the running back void in Kansas
- 18:56Speaker 2: City partners up with Patrick Mahomes and co down and
- 18:59Speaker 2: case Richard, why do you like this.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Move because it gives Kansas City's offense an incredibly dynamic
- 19:06Speaker 1: running back, a guy that can can be a game
- 19:09Speaker 1: breaker at any time, both in the run game in
- 19:12Speaker 1: the pass game. He can he can be very dynamic
- 19:14Speaker 1: in the pass game, and I think that was a
- 19:16Speaker 1: skill that I wasn't as high on with him before
- 19:20Speaker 1: the probably last six to seven games of the season
- 19:22Speaker 1: for the Seahawks, but then he became a receiver that
- 19:25Speaker 1: was very capable, a guy that became a mismatch in
- 19:28Speaker 1: coverage at times in some of those games that were pivotal.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I mean, I remember during that I think it was
- 19:34Speaker 1: maybe that Rams game NFC Championship where they were in
- 19:38Speaker 1: an out route with him on like a third and
- 19:41Speaker 1: eight and I was like, wait, they're going, He's going.
- 19:43Speaker 1: They're going to him at receiver on third and eight
- 19:46Speaker 1: and at a critical point in the ball game, and
- 19:48Speaker 1: he made to play a great route, uh, caught the football,
- 19:51Speaker 1: got the first down, and I think that showed a
- 19:54Speaker 1: different dynamic of Kenneth Walker. That's going to be very valuable,
- 19:57Speaker 1: especially if they can get Patrick Mahomes back at the
- 20:01Speaker 1: early in the early part of this season. To have
- 20:04Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes and and him and Xavier Worthy and Thornton
- 20:08Speaker 1: and all the explosive guys that they have out there.
- 20:10Speaker 1: I mean, this is gonna be a nightmare of an
- 20:12Speaker 1: offense to goal against. And the way Andy Reid is
- 20:15Speaker 1: gonna gonna create these openings. I can't wait to watch it.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I love this move for Kenneth Walker personally. I mean,
- 20:22Speaker 1: this is a guy I talked about a tail end
- 20:24Speaker 1: of the season. Unfortunately, we saw Zach Charbone go down
- 20:26Speaker 1: with the ACL injury. I had the utmost confidence in
- 20:30Speaker 1: K nine. In fact, I picked him to win the
- 20:31Speaker 1: Super Bowl MVP two weeks out. I think before he
- 20:34Speaker 1: even Seattle made the Super Bowl. I love this guy.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Witnessed them first hand at Michigan State run all over
- 20:40Speaker 2: U of M five touchdowns in that game.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Richard.
- 20:43Speaker 2: This is a type of guy that will benefit being
- 20:46Speaker 2: the number one, true number one running back. He doesn't
- 20:49Speaker 2: need to be a one, A, one B guy. I
- 20:51Speaker 2: think he can toke the Rocks seventy percent of the
- 20:53Speaker 2: time they find another you know, change of pace back
- 20:57Speaker 2: behind him. Kenneth Walker is gonna thrive. How shocking is
- 21:01Speaker 2: it to you. Kansas City has not had a thousand
- 21:03Speaker 2: yard rusher since twenty seventeen Kareem Hunt, So they bring
- 21:07Speaker 2: in a guy like Cane nine, who I think will
- 21:09Speaker 2: achieve that goal for them. I love this move for him,
- 21:13Speaker 2: but it does scare me a bit for your Seattle Seahawks,
- 21:16Speaker 2: rich Zach Charbona coming off the ACL that is a
- 21:21Speaker 2: tough injury to come off of gain explosiveness, especially the
- 21:24Speaker 2: way he got injured that late in the season. It
- 21:29Speaker 2: raises questions for what Seattle is going to do to
- 21:32Speaker 2: counter this move with losing Canine, So that is one
- 21:35Speaker 2: fear factor for me with Seattle next on your list, Richard.
- 21:40Speaker 1: With that, I think they feel really good about George
- 21:44Speaker 1: Hallani and I think Kenny McIntosh is a guy that
- 21:50Speaker 1: I think they feel really comfortable with, a guy that
- 21:56Speaker 1: was really explosive in dynamic before you know, he got
- 21:59Speaker 1: a little banged up, but we'll see, you know. I
- 22:03Speaker 1: think they're not out of it and done making moves,
- 22:05Speaker 1: but I think they trust their depth and I would
- 22:07Speaker 1: assume they'll draft another one just for safety. Obviously, you
- 22:11Speaker 1: don't just replace a guy like Kenneth Walker, but there's
- 22:14Speaker 1: a reason why. You know, running backs to this league
- 22:17Speaker 1: haven't necessarily been valued in that way because teams feel
- 22:21Speaker 1: like they can find them, and they can find dynamic
- 22:23Speaker 1: players even if it's by committee, both in the draft
- 22:26Speaker 1: and in free agency.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Next on your list is what the Los Angeles Rams
- 22:32Speaker 2: have done, and this team is currently projected as the
- 22:36Speaker 2: favorite to win the Super Bowl next year based on
- 22:39Speaker 2: these moves. I mean, we know what Matthew Stafford in
- 22:41Speaker 2: that offense can bring to the table. The Achilles heel
- 22:44Speaker 2: to this team was their secondary. They addressed it and
- 22:46Speaker 2: addressed it in a big way. They're the beneficiaries of
- 22:49Speaker 2: having two first round picks this year, and they traded
- 22:52Speaker 2: their their lowest one, the twenty ninth overall pick, for
- 22:55Speaker 2: Trent McDuffie, and then they ultimately signed Jalen Watson, poaching
- 22:59Speaker 2: both corns from the Kansas City Chiefs and moving them
- 23:02Speaker 2: over to starters with the Rams. How much do you
- 23:04Speaker 2: like these moves for the Los Angeles Rams.
- 23:07Speaker 1: I really liked his move for the for the Los
- 23:09Speaker 1: Angeles Rams because again, they were so close to a
- 23:12Speaker 1: Super Bowl at you know, the Seattle Seahawks were the
- 23:16Speaker 1: only thing between them and the Super Bowl and as
- 23:18Speaker 1: the Seahawks players have said that that game felt like
- 23:21Speaker 1: the Super Bowl and in order for them to get
- 23:23Speaker 1: over the hump, they felt like they had to strengthen
- 23:25Speaker 1: this defense and strengthen his secondary. And that's what they did.
- 23:29Speaker 1: They they got two guys that can play man and
- 23:32Speaker 1: man coverage, guys that have won super Bowls, have played
- 23:36Speaker 1: in big games, have thrived in big games, played press,
- 23:39Speaker 1: and that's what they feel like they needed to do
- 23:42Speaker 1: to combat the JSN and what the Seahawks are doing.
- 23:47Speaker 1: So we'll see if it works. We'll see if that
- 23:48Speaker 1: gets them over to hump. Now, did I think he
- 23:50Speaker 1: would get thirty one million dollars in this huge deal
- 23:53Speaker 1: that he got, Now, I wasn't sure about that. It's
- 23:55Speaker 1: it's it's a different game though at the corner spot,
- 23:58Speaker 1: it doesn't seem like UH interceptions are as valuable as
- 24:03Speaker 1: as the sticky coverage and guys that can can play
- 24:07Speaker 1: and in a multitude of coverages. UH and the way
- 24:10Speaker 1: that McDuffie can and the way that uh saut Gartner
- 24:13Speaker 1: has shown. Two guys that can press and and and
- 24:15Speaker 1: play at a high level. So I look forward to
- 24:18Speaker 1: seeing how this goes. Obviously, you know McDuffie and and
- 24:23Speaker 1: his matchup versus a guy like Mike Evans is going
- 24:25Speaker 1: to be interesting, and I'm sure the San Francisco forty
- 24:27Speaker 1: nine is just just normal size wise. Feel good about that.
- 24:30Speaker 1: But again then Jalen Watson is your answer there and
- 24:33Speaker 1: a guy who matches up incredibly well with a guy
- 24:35Speaker 1: like Mike Evans. Not that he's going to be the
- 24:37Speaker 1: end all be all, but I think they got two
- 24:40Speaker 1: guys that that have different strengths, different skill sets. McDuffie
- 24:43Speaker 1: can also play in the slot and and really really
- 24:47Speaker 1: take this Rams offensive, I mean Rams defense to the
- 24:50Speaker 1: next level.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Next on your list is Seattle Seahawks own Reek wooland
- 24:56Speaker 2: he goes for a shocking one year deal to the
- 25:00Speaker 2: old out for Eagles, making fifteen million dollars this upcoming season.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I know you like this move for Philly, but are
- 25:06Speaker 2: you surprised that it was only a one year deal
- 25:08Speaker 2: for Reek. Yeah, I'm a.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Bit surprised, but I think I think that's that was
- 25:15Speaker 1: his market is a lot of people feel really good
- 25:17Speaker 1: about what he's able to do, his his skill set
- 25:19Speaker 1: and his ability, but are kind of in a wait
- 25:23Speaker 1: and see mode because they want to They want to
- 25:25Speaker 1: understand why his his his spot in the Seahawks lineup
- 25:30Speaker 1: was so violatile. You know, the big games, he starts
- 25:33Speaker 1: in the big games, he doesn't play very much. There
- 25:36Speaker 1: will be games he gets benched throughout the game, especially
- 25:39Speaker 1: early on in the season. I think late in the
- 25:41Speaker 1: season is when he found his rhythm and started to
- 25:43Speaker 1: play really well. It seemed like something click for him
- 25:45Speaker 1: and he was tackling well. He's he was all over
- 25:48Speaker 1: the plays and I think in Vic Fangio's system, he's
- 25:50Speaker 1: going to thrive opposite at Quinnon Mitchell. I think that's
- 25:54Speaker 1: going to be They're going to be one of the
- 25:55Speaker 1: most dynamic pair of corners in the National Football League.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Obviously went to the most athletic corners on the football field.
- 26:03Speaker 1: But with the way Vic fan Joe draws things up
- 26:06Speaker 1: and that defensive line and the depth that the Philadelphia
- 26:09Speaker 1: Eagles have, and I'm sure that Howie Roseman is is
- 26:12Speaker 1: gonna replenish that depth. Obviously, they they lose some guys
- 26:16Speaker 1: in Ni Kobe Dean and and uh and things like that,
- 26:19Speaker 1: but I think with with the secondary they have and
- 26:23Speaker 1: adding uh Reek Wool into that, it's gonna it's gonna
- 26:27Speaker 1: be it's gonna be fantastic. It's gonna be a great fit.
- 26:29Speaker 1: And I think that's a situation that they'll probably address
- 26:32Speaker 1: mid season when they feel comfortable, like, hey, this is
- 26:34Speaker 1: the guy we thought he was and signed him to
- 26:37Speaker 1: a longer extension. I'm sure they're gonna leave room for that.
- 26:40Speaker 1: But this is a good move for for Reek uh.
- 26:43Speaker 1: He gets he gets some money early on, gets to
- 26:46Speaker 1: play for a team that's gonna be a contender, gonna
- 26:49Speaker 1: be in a mix a scheme and a defensive coordinator
- 26:52Speaker 1: that's gonna be fantastic. He fits it very well. I
- 26:55Speaker 1: think he understands it. I mean there's some wrinkles in
- 26:59Speaker 1: there that that he familiar with that Mike McDonald ran
- 27:03Speaker 1: in Seattle. So I think this is a move that works.
- 27:07Speaker 1: I'm sure he would have loved the longer term, more security.
- 27:09Speaker 1: You know, nobody really loves playing on a one year deal.
- 27:13Speaker 1: But I think the game is starting to make sense
- 27:14Speaker 1: for Reek in a way that this is going to
- 27:17Speaker 1: be beneficial to him.
- 27:19Speaker 2: It's a good move for Philly as well. They needed
- 27:21Speaker 2: a move like this. They've lost Jalen Phillips, they've lost
- 27:25Speaker 2: n Kobe Dean. They lost Red Blankenship all this offseason.
- 27:28Speaker 2: You know, obviously they got to They just paid Jordan Davis.
- 27:31Speaker 2: They got Jalen Carter on the horizon. Aj Brown questions swirling.
- 27:35Speaker 2: This is an interesting offseason for Philly. It's good that
- 27:38Speaker 2: they were able to get this one year deal for Reek.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I like it a lot for them. And then, finally,
- 27:43Speaker 2: last on your list, Richard, you really like the resigning
- 27:46Speaker 2: of Rashid Shaheed with the Seattle Seahawks. I know they
- 27:49Speaker 2: invested a lot in going out and trading for him.
- 27:51Speaker 2: During the season. He played a key role for them
- 27:54Speaker 2: down the stretch, albeit not a ton as a wide receiver.
- 27:57Speaker 2: More than the special teams, we saw his impact. Obviously,
- 27:59Speaker 2: he was a deep ball threat for them. Do you
- 28:02Speaker 2: think that this season he's gonna get more involved with
- 28:06Speaker 2: this offense as a wide receiver? And why do you
- 28:08Speaker 2: like this move?
- 28:08Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, I love this move. I wasn't sure this
- 28:11Speaker 1: move would happen because of the guys that they have
- 28:15Speaker 1: on the horizon to pay. You know, they're gonna They're
- 28:17Speaker 1: gonna likely pay Devin Witherspoon, you know, thirty plus million
- 28:21Speaker 1: dollars per year. They're likely going to play JSN forty
- 28:25Speaker 1: north of forty million dollars per year, and so I
- 28:29Speaker 1: didn't think that they would would necessarily pay. I thought
- 28:32Speaker 1: Shaheed's market would be right where they paid him about
- 28:35Speaker 1: seventeen a year. But I wasn't sure the Seahawks would
- 28:38Speaker 1: be willing to make that move with everything they already
- 28:41Speaker 1: have invested in that offense, with Cooper Cup making fifteen
- 28:45Speaker 1: million dollars a year, with you about to be paying
- 28:49Speaker 1: JSN forty, so you're you're talking about thirty two million dollars,
- 28:52Speaker 1: I mean seventy two million dollars between your your top
- 28:55Speaker 1: three receivers. I wasn't sure they would would make that
- 28:58Speaker 1: kind of move with with everything they have going on.
- 29:02Speaker 1: But John obviously saw his value and the things that
- 29:06Speaker 1: he did for this team, both in the special teams,
- 29:08Speaker 1: and I would guess with the payment with the number this,
- 29:14Speaker 1: they throw the money, they throw to where the money is,
- 29:17Speaker 1: and when you're paying the guys seventeen million dollars, you
- 29:19Speaker 1: don't just use him on special teams. He's not just
- 29:21Speaker 1: a returner who's changing the game in that way. Like
- 29:23Speaker 1: I would expect his targets to look more like they
- 29:27Speaker 1: did when he was in New Orleans. I would expect
- 29:29Speaker 1: him to get you know, eight to ten targets a
- 29:31Speaker 1: game and at least two deep shots a game, you know,
- 29:37Speaker 1: just keeping the defense honest. And that's what I thought
- 29:39Speaker 1: would happen when he first got to Seattle. I thought, Okay,
- 29:42Speaker 1: they're going to keep defenses honest. They're going to put
- 29:44Speaker 1: one up just about every game. And you saw it
- 29:46Speaker 1: late in the season and in the NFC Championship, in
- 29:49Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, they did just that. They had a
- 29:52Speaker 1: huge play early in the game against the Rams. They
- 29:54Speaker 1: went for a deep shot against the Patriots that Christian
- 29:57Speaker 1: Gonzales got there by a fingernail to deflect away. But
- 30:03Speaker 1: that's his role, you know, he can he can dramatically
- 30:05Speaker 1: impact the game and open things up for Jackson Smith
- 30:08Speaker 1: and Jigba and they If he's used correctly, this offense
- 30:13Speaker 1: becomes even more difficult to stop, especially in the run game.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Like you can't stack the box, you can't leave guys
- 30:20Speaker 1: close to the line of scrimmage because if you leave,
- 30:22Speaker 1: if it's even then Sam and their rapport over this
- 30:25Speaker 1: offseason and the reps they get together, that ball is leaving.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I guarantee you. There's going to be more trust, more chemistry,
- 30:32Speaker 1: more rapport. With more time in this offseason, they're going
- 30:35Speaker 1: to have a better feel for one another, and it's
- 30:37Speaker 1: going to make this offense even more dangerous and dynamic. Obviously,
- 30:40Speaker 1: losing Clint Kobiak is a huge deal. There'll be an
- 30:44Speaker 1: adjustment period there, but I think you know these guys
- 30:48Speaker 1: aren't going to just forget how to run offense and
- 30:50Speaker 1: on you, all right, Fellas, I'm thirty seven and something
- 30:55Speaker 1: weird started happening right around thirty four. You know, everything
- 30:58Speaker 1: used to feel so easy. You get up there, the
- 31:01Speaker 1: same workouts, the same diet, the same routine.
- 31:04Speaker 3: But suddenly I felt like I'm moving through mud. Mitchell Richard,
- 31:08Speaker 3: I'm right there with you, and that sounds real tough.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Nobody warns you about that part at all. And when
- 31:14Speaker 3: you're working out, you're trying to keep moving. Sometimes it
- 31:18Speaker 3: just doesn't feel like it used to.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Exactly. One day you out there crush your workouts and
- 31:22Speaker 1: staying sharp all day. Then the next year you're wondering
- 31:27Speaker 1: why everything feels twice as hard. And when I start
- 31:30Speaker 1: digging into it, I realize most men start losing testosterone
- 31:35Speaker 1: around age thirty. It drops about one percent per year
- 31:40Speaker 1: after that, which is.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Wild because you're still doing all the right things, Richard.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I see you running, I see you on that peloton,
- 31:46Speaker 2: I see you cracking the workouts in the gym, but
- 31:49Speaker 2: sometimes it just doesn't feel the same.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Right, That's actually how I found mars Men. Here's the
- 31:55Speaker 1: thing I learned. Your body can still produce testosterone, but
- 31:59Speaker 1: a lot of it gets locked up by this protein
- 32:02Speaker 1: called SHBG.
- 32:04Speaker 2: So basically your body has it, you just can't.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Use it exactly. I think of it like having money
- 32:11Speaker 1: in the bank, but your debit card doesn't work. Mars
- 32:14Speaker 1: Man is designed to help free up that locked up
- 32:17Speaker 1: testosterone so your body can actually use it.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Richard. I want to be able to spend my money,
- 32:23Speaker 2: and I saw my debit card better worked. And it's
- 32:26Speaker 2: not like hormone injections or anything crazy like that either, right, No.
- 32:30Speaker 1: No needles, no synthetics, just natural ingredients that help support energy.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Focused strength, and Richard, it's made in the USA, third
- 32:40Speaker 2: party tested all that good stuff.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and then they back it with a ninety day
- 32:47Speaker 1: money back guarantee, so there's basically no risk. Worst case,
- 32:50Speaker 1: you try it and get your money back, but over
- 32:53Speaker 1: ninety one percent of users report higher energy levels and
- 32:58Speaker 1: there are thousands of reviews on their site.
- 33:00Speaker 2: So if you want to check it out for limited time,

- 33:24Speaker 1: that we Cinch Richard.
- 33:25Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna take my turn here. Now I
- 33:27Speaker 2: got my top seven moves of the past couple days.
- 33:31Speaker 2: I'm gonna start with Malik Willis signing with the Miami Dolphins.
- 33:35Speaker 2: And listen, I don't say this move because it's the
- 33:39Speaker 2: Miami Dolphins. The Miami Dolphins are in kind of a
- 33:41Speaker 2: shitty situation. They gave up onto a tongue of Iloa
- 33:44Speaker 2: and they're cutting ninety nine million dollars in dead money,
- 33:48Speaker 2: and they needed a guy on a team friendly deal
- 33:51Speaker 2: that can help elevate this team. And I think Milik
- 33:53Speaker 2: Willis is that guy.
- 33:54Speaker 1: He showed you what he.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Can be in Green Bay, right. I mean, everyone had
- 33:58Speaker 2: this expectation of him coming out of lit Liberty, a
- 34:00Speaker 2: small school. He was projected to be a top five pick.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Ultimately sides all the way to the second or third
- 34:05Speaker 2: round with Tennessee. I wasn't really given a fair shake
- 34:08Speaker 2: there and goes to Green Bay, and I think but
- 34:12Speaker 2: for having him on that roster Green Bay, it might
- 34:14Speaker 2: not make the playoffs each of the last couple of years.
- 34:17Speaker 2: You know, Jordan Love goes out each of these last
- 34:20Speaker 2: few years for a multi week injury, and Malik Willis
- 34:23Speaker 2: arguably is just as good. He's mobile, he he can
- 34:29Speaker 2: make moves on the ground. I think he adds a
- 34:31Speaker 2: very good wrinkle to this Miami Dolphins team and for
- 34:35Speaker 2: a team that really is good, probably putting himself in
- 34:37Speaker 2: a very unique spot, a tough spot with the cap
- 34:40Speaker 2: space over these next couple of years, getting a guy
- 34:42Speaker 2: for right around twenty two million dollars a year that
- 34:45Speaker 2: has high upside. I love this Malik Willis signing. Do
- 34:48Speaker 2: you have any thoughts on Elik? Do you like it?
- 34:50Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, I like this. I like him getting another
- 34:52Speaker 1: opportunity to start, you know, with more experience under his belt,
- 34:57Speaker 1: more stability, He's a that you that's easy to cheer
- 35:01Speaker 1: for a guy that, like you said, played at a
- 35:03Speaker 1: high level when he when he went in there, he
- 35:05Speaker 1: played at equally high of a level as as Jordan
- 35:09Speaker 1: love for the for the Green Bay Packers. And and
- 35:12Speaker 1: does that change without Lafloor calling the plays. Who knows,
- 35:15Speaker 1: we'll we'll get to see. But I think I like
- 35:17Speaker 1: this for him. You know, is this gonna just be
- 35:19Speaker 1: a band aid to get Miami over the humph while
- 35:23Speaker 1: dealing with all the dead money from Tula? Maybe, but
- 35:26Speaker 1: I think this is gonna make them a lot more
- 35:27Speaker 1: fun to watch. And if he plays like he did
- 35:30Speaker 1: in Green Bay, uh and his few opportunities, this will
- 35:34Speaker 1: be fun.
- 35:36Speaker 2: And the next one on my list, I like the
- 35:37Speaker 2: Devin Lloyd signing by Carolina Jacksonville Jaguars. You know, given
- 35:43Speaker 2: up on some guys. I'm not one hundred percent sure why,
- 35:45Speaker 2: but they gave up on Devin Lloyd. He signs a
- 35:47Speaker 2: three year, forty five million dollar deal. The Carolina Panthers
- 35:51Speaker 2: obviously are going after defensive stalwarts there and they got
- 35:55Speaker 2: him and Jalen Phillips. I like Devin Lloyd. You know,
- 35:58Speaker 2: he's not on the field all the time. He's on
- 36:00Speaker 2: the field about seventy percent of the time, but I
- 36:02Speaker 2: think he brings a unique skill set to that defense.
- 36:05Speaker 2: And with a team loaded with a lot of a
- 36:09Speaker 2: lot of young stars you know in the horizon, and
- 36:11Speaker 2: a team that just made the playoffs, albeit in a
- 36:14Speaker 2: very weak division, I think adding veterans like Phillips and
- 36:17Speaker 2: Devin Lloyd is the next thing to push them to
- 36:20Speaker 2: that next level of actually being an above five hundred
- 36:23Speaker 2: team and winning that division as well. Do you like
- 36:26Speaker 2: what you see from Carolina thus far in the offseason.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I like this move. I think it's a solid move.
- 36:31Speaker 1: A player that's that's done it, that did a great
- 36:34Speaker 1: job last year creating turnovers, being made himself some money.
- 36:38Speaker 1: They're a young, fun team and a division that that
- 36:41Speaker 1: hasn't been so great and a division that just lost
- 36:44Speaker 1: who's whose division champion just lost you know, one of
- 36:49Speaker 1: their most consistent players. So I think this this, this
- 36:53Speaker 1: helps them, This helps the Carolina Pathers, just as a
- 36:56Speaker 1: Jalen Phillips trade does you know, I'm not sure thirty
- 36:59Speaker 1: million dollars was the number I'd pay for Jalen Phillips.
- 37:01Speaker 1: After the injuries that he sustained and things like that
- 37:05Speaker 1: over the years. But he is a dynamic rusher who
- 37:08Speaker 1: can get to a quarterback. And pass rushers are you know,
- 37:11Speaker 1: are a premium in this National Football League. But I
- 37:14Speaker 1: think this helps them, and I do like to pick.
- 37:17Speaker 2: The next time I listen, I'm gonna probably combine these two.
- 37:20Speaker 2: And I don't mean to be a homer, but I
- 37:22Speaker 2: got to incorporate my Detroit Lions into this somehow, some way, Richard.
- 37:26Speaker 2: The Detroit Lions need to thread the needle this offseason.
- 37:29Speaker 2: They kind of lost their identity last year. Their their
- 37:32Speaker 2: offensive line took a huge hit after the draft from
- 37:35Speaker 2: Frank Raig. Now you know, all perennial All Pro center
- 37:39Speaker 2: announces his retirement and the team just scrambled from there
- 37:43Speaker 2: on end. You know. They they moved their guard, Graham
- 37:45Speaker 2: Glask out of center, and they inputed the rookie Tate
- 37:50Speaker 2: Radlegge in at guard, and we just saw them struggle,
- 37:53Speaker 2: especially up the middle on the interior side of that
- 37:56Speaker 2: offensive line. I mean, even when Gibbs was running wild
- 37:59Speaker 2: against the Giants and some of these other teams, they
- 38:02Speaker 2: were running them outside of Penny Sewol So they needed
- 38:04Speaker 2: some guys that can move bodies in the middle, and
- 38:08Speaker 2: they lean on Cad Mays and they get them for
- 38:10Speaker 2: a three year, twenty five million dollar deal the center
- 38:13Speaker 2: from Carolina. Seeing what Linderbaum went for. I know a
- 38:17Speaker 2: lot of folks in Detroit had their eyes on Tyler Linderbaum,
- 38:20Speaker 2: but the reality is Detroit did not have the luxury
- 38:23Speaker 2: of cap space. You know, They've got to pay a
- 38:25Speaker 2: lot of their their up and coming stars. They just
- 38:27Speaker 2: paid on Monross, Saint Brown, Jamison Williams, obviously, Golf, et cetera.
- 38:33Speaker 2: And they've got a number of them to pay in
- 38:34Speaker 2: the next couple of years. So they really had to
- 38:36Speaker 2: thread the needle this offseason. And I think getting a
- 38:39Speaker 2: guy like cade Mays, who can be dependable starter for
- 38:41Speaker 2: this team, start to provide some stability in that center
- 38:45Speaker 2: the Lions can hopefully return to a dominant offensive line
- 38:49Speaker 2: in the next couple of years. And then they pair
- 38:50Speaker 2: that with Isaiah Pacheco on a one year, one point
- 38:54Speaker 2: eight million dollar deal. I know it's not the flashiest move,
- 38:56Speaker 2: but Detroit has become known as the Sonic and Knuckle.
- 39:00Speaker 2: You know, pound it down the middle, run the ball,
- 39:03Speaker 2: run the ball, run the ball. Team, and ultimately they
- 39:06Speaker 2: had to move off They had to make some you know,
- 39:08Speaker 2: not so fan favorite decisions this offseason and move away
- 39:12Speaker 2: from David Montgomery, who was signed for the next two
- 39:14Speaker 2: years at a pretty reasonable, reasonably large cap hit. So
- 39:18Speaker 2: they trade him, get a fourth round pick, add Juice Scruggs,
- 39:22Speaker 2: and ultimately lean on Isaiah Pachaco from the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 39:25Speaker 2: This guy runs like his Harison fire. You know, he
- 39:28Speaker 2: fractured his leg in twenty twenty four. We saw a
- 39:31Speaker 2: bit of a downturn last year with his usage and
- 39:34Speaker 2: obviously them bringing back in Kareem Hunt. But in terms
- 39:37Speaker 2: of a by low option for Detroit, I love this
- 39:40Speaker 2: fit for them. You know, your thoughts on what Detroit's
- 39:43Speaker 2: been able to do with Cad Mays and Isaiah Pachaco.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Do you like it?
- 39:47Speaker 1: Yeah? I like it. I don't love it, But I mean,
- 39:49Speaker 1: like you said, they're in a bond. You know, they
- 39:52Speaker 1: did that big deal with with am and Rod, they
- 39:54Speaker 1: did to deal with Aiden Hutchinson. You got Jared Golf
- 39:57Speaker 1: on their contract. It looks like they're gonna let go
- 40:00Speaker 1: Taylor Decker, which is an interesting move, and and Penay
- 40:05Speaker 1: Seuls getting his money, But I just I don't know
- 40:09Speaker 1: how much Isaiah Pacheco has left in shake in the tank.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Not a big guy to begin with. And you talk
- 40:16Speaker 1: about the shelf life with running backs and and how
- 40:18Speaker 1: quickly they could, you know, go off that that ledge.
- 40:22Speaker 1: But for one year one point eight, you know, it's
- 40:24Speaker 1: a it's a it's a low low buy, low risk.
- 40:29Speaker 1: And I think Jamier Gibbs is not gonna leave the
- 40:31Speaker 1: field as often as he used to. And I'm and
- 40:33Speaker 1: I think that's gonna be something that Detroit fans are
- 40:36Speaker 1: gonna have to live with. You know, he's not going
- 40:38Speaker 1: to be off the field as much. He's gonna be
- 40:41Speaker 1: on the field. He's gonna take more reps and more
- 40:43Speaker 1: hits than he has any other season because you don't
- 40:45Speaker 1: have David Montgomery. Now, will Isaiah Pacheco spell him at times,
- 40:49Speaker 1: No question about that. But I like the cade May signing.
- 40:53Speaker 1: It's a it was a need position signing. It should
- 40:57Speaker 1: work well. I'm interested to see what other moves they
- 41:00Speaker 1: make to strengthen that offensive line and to really give
- 41:06Speaker 1: themselves a chance on defense because they need more pass rush.
- 41:10Speaker 1: They ask a lot of their corners in man and
- 41:12Speaker 1: man coverage. I think that's going to have to be adjusted.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Does you know how healthy does Brian Branch come back?
- 41:20Speaker 1: And things like that, Questions like that or are going
- 41:22Speaker 1: to have to get answered this all season in season.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Next on the list staying in the vision in the
- 41:29Speaker 2: NFC North, the Chicago Bears. You know, there's been some
- 41:32Speaker 2: turnover on their roster. They've had to adapt. They lost
- 41:35Speaker 2: their center Dolmon to retirement, and they've lost in a
- 41:39Speaker 2: couple guys in their secondary. But they bring in Seattle
- 41:42Speaker 2: Seahawks Kobe Bryant on a three or forty million dollar deal. Richard,
- 41:47Speaker 2: you can speak to him better than I can. But
- 41:48Speaker 2: he's a versatile guy that can play corner or safety.
- 41:51Speaker 2: I know he started to really make his money when
- 41:54Speaker 2: he moved to safety in Seattle. Richard, I like this move.
- 41:58Speaker 2: I like his versatility that he brings. He's in the secondary.
- 42:02Speaker 2: But you can speak better to him than I can.
- 42:04Speaker 2: I mean, do you how much do you like Kobe
- 42:05Speaker 2: Bryant's game? Do you think he's a good fit with Chicago.
- 42:08Speaker 1: I love Kobe Bryant's game, and I love how he's
- 42:11Speaker 1: adapted to the NFL. You know, uh, sometimes you got
- 42:14Speaker 1: to get in where you fit in the National Football League,
- 42:16Speaker 1: and in the corner room got kind of crowded on him.
- 42:20Speaker 1: They they drafted some guys. Reek played really well, and
- 42:23Speaker 1: I think he was just trying to find a way
- 42:25Speaker 1: to get on the field. He was playing nickel, he was.
- 42:27Speaker 1: He started to play inside and found a home at safety,
- 42:30Speaker 1: and I think that just increased his value and increased
- 42:33Speaker 1: his versatility, and he ends up being a guy that
- 42:36Speaker 1: can really play all over the field. He can play
- 42:38Speaker 1: that rover role. He can he can play similarly to
- 42:41Speaker 1: the role that Nick emm and war he plays for
- 42:44Speaker 1: the Seattle Seahawks like he can he can cover, he
- 42:48Speaker 1: can be a nickel, he can be a deep deep
- 42:50Speaker 1: field safety. He can really play at any spot in
- 42:53Speaker 1: the secondary when asked. And I think that kind of
- 42:55Speaker 1: versatility is what you need when in in today's dan age,
- 42:59Speaker 1: where there's so many receivers and so many positionless players
- 43:03Speaker 1: on offense, tight ends that play like receivers, and running
- 43:06Speaker 1: backs that play like receivers, and receivers that will go
- 43:09Speaker 1: in the backfield and things like that. You need more
- 43:11Speaker 1: versatile Swiss army knives on defense, and that's what Kobe Bryant.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Is next on my list. Number six, Braden Smith from
- 43:22Speaker 2: the Indianapolis Colts signs on a two year, twenty five
- 43:25Speaker 2: million dollar deal with the Houston Texans. It's a right tackle.
- 43:29Speaker 2: He's known for his powerful run blocking. You know, obviously
- 43:31Speaker 2: we saw what happened in Indie last year with Jonathan
- 43:34Speaker 2: Taylor's resurgent year. The Houston Texans desperately need o line help.
- 43:40Speaker 2: There's been a lot of fluctuation this past offseason. We
- 43:44Speaker 2: know what's going on, you know, in terms of the
- 43:46Speaker 2: quarterback play and how that's dwindled over the last couple
- 43:49Speaker 2: of years. They need somebody that can come in and
- 43:52Speaker 2: provide some stability there on that old line. Not to
- 43:54Speaker 2: mention they just signed David or just traded for David Montgomery.
- 43:58Speaker 2: I really like this move for the Texans. And finally
- 44:00Speaker 2: my number seven, I'm loving what the New York Giants
- 44:04Speaker 2: are doing right now, bringing in Isaiah Likely, giving Jackson
- 44:07Speaker 2: Dart some weapons. You see John Harbrough bring cup all
- 44:10Speaker 2: of his guys over from Baltimore, Isaiah Likely, Patrick Ricard,
- 44:15Speaker 2: But I really like Isaiah Likely's game. He's a unique
- 44:18Speaker 2: tight end. He's a playmaker with the ball in his hands.
- 44:22Speaker 2: I think he adds with him and THEO Johnson a
- 44:24Speaker 2: nice one two combo at tight end. I really like
- 44:27Speaker 2: the Giants going into this year. You already got any
- 44:29Speaker 2: thoughts about Isaiah Likely Rich.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I like the pick. I mean, you need
- 44:34Speaker 1: a safety blanket and he was using his tight ends
- 44:37Speaker 1: last year. He talked about THEO Johnson and the rapport
- 44:40Speaker 1: they had. I think Isaiah Likely fits it very well,
- 44:43Speaker 1: you know. Following John Harball to the Giants, I think
- 44:47Speaker 1: I like. I like the moves they made on defense too.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I mean, they have Paulson Adbo. Now they just signed
- 44:52Speaker 1: Greg Newsome, Javon Holland They've really made some moves to
- 44:57Speaker 1: really solidify this defense in this offense and and give
- 45:00Speaker 1: themselves a chance. And then I hear them in the
- 45:02Speaker 1: in the sweepstakes for Brian Thomas and and his services,
- 45:05Speaker 1: and you know, if they make that move, you know,
- 45:09Speaker 1: they they become a very fun team to watch. And
- 45:11Speaker 1: they were already a fun team to watch. We watched
- 45:12Speaker 1: them have a great game and and and really take
- 45:15Speaker 1: it to the Philadelphia Eagles early in the season on
- 45:18Speaker 1: Thursday Night Football. And if they can play better defense
- 45:22Speaker 1: this NFC East can be wide open. You know, we
- 45:24Speaker 1: talked about the issues that the Eagles have been having.
- 45:28Speaker 1: We know the issues that the Cowboys have had. They've
- 45:30Speaker 1: been great on offense, but have had issues on defense.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Now they've solidified their defensive line even more bringing in
- 45:38Speaker 1: with Seawan Geary. But uh, this guy that the NFC
- 45:42Speaker 1: East is always a toss up, and if they can
- 45:45Speaker 1: continue to strengthen and John Harball does what he did
- 45:47Speaker 1: in Baltimore, they're gonna be a force to be recond with.
- 45:51Speaker 2: They they certainly are, Richard. You gotta love the moves
- 45:54Speaker 2: that the Giants is an organization, have made this offseason.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Adding John Harbaugh. Uh, this team could be could be
- 46:01Speaker 2: an interesting one to watch going into next year. Now
- 46:04Speaker 2: we can move to a couple moves that we are
- 46:06Speaker 2: are a little bit undetermined. Don We call these the
- 46:09Speaker 2: weight and see moves, Richard. Number one on your list
- 46:12Speaker 2: is Wandel Robinson, who goes to the Tennessee Titans under
- 46:17Speaker 2: the head coach Robert Sala, who you know all too well.
- 46:21Speaker 2: Wandel Robinson's this guy that catched ten balls a game
- 46:24Speaker 2: for fifty yards. You know, occasionally he'll he'll pop one off,
- 46:28Speaker 2: but he adds a nice little safety blanket for cam
- 46:30Speaker 2: Ward and that team. Do you view this as an overpay?
- 46:34Speaker 2: Is that why you gotta wait and see on it?
- 46:36Speaker 2: How much do you really like this move?
- 46:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's it's it's overpay by by a lot
- 46:45Speaker 1: of estimations, just because you you you haven't seen outside
- 46:51Speaker 1: of last year. There there isn't a season where he's
- 46:54Speaker 1: had over seven hundred yards, and so when you talk
- 46:57Speaker 1: about paying this kind of money, you expect a lot
- 46:59Speaker 1: more consistently. See now, last year he had ninety two
- 47:01Speaker 1: catches for one thousand yards and really helped keep that
- 47:06Speaker 1: Giants offensive float. And I think that's a big reason
- 47:09Speaker 1: why Brian day Ball brought him to Tennessee and probably
- 47:12Speaker 1: stood on the table for him because at times during
- 47:16Speaker 1: the season he was all they had and he was
- 47:19Speaker 1: doing a great job for him. But you know, in
- 47:22Speaker 1: terms of the consistency and the numbers that you expect,
- 47:26Speaker 1: the season before he had ninety three catches for six
- 47:29Speaker 1: six ninety nine and then the season before twenty twenty
- 47:32Speaker 1: three had seventy eight catches for five hundred and twenty
- 47:37Speaker 1: five yards. So you're you're not talking about huge numbers
- 47:42Speaker 1: and huge amounts of consistency that you're that you're talking about.
- 47:46Speaker 1: So you know, we're in a wait and see mode.
- 47:48Speaker 1: What can he do with with cam Ward? What can
- 47:51Speaker 1: he do with Brian Day Bowl in Tennessee? Can he
- 47:54Speaker 1: be the receiver that lives up to that? We'll see.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Next on our list, Geno Smith goes back to the
- 48:02Speaker 2: Jets in a trade. This is an interesting one because
- 48:06Speaker 2: the Jets, you know, have made a spent a lot
- 48:09Speaker 2: of money, you know, this offseason, they bring back Geno
- 48:13Speaker 2: and they have the Raiders eat a lot of his salary.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Do you anticipate Geno Smith being the starter in New York?
- 48:19Speaker 2: Is that why it's a wait and see move? Like,
- 48:21Speaker 2: what are we looking at here with Gino going back
- 48:24Speaker 2: to the Jets.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's definitely a wait and see move because I
- 48:28Speaker 1: don't expect him to play like he did when he
- 48:29Speaker 1: was with the Jets. You know, obviously he didn't play
- 48:33Speaker 1: very well, didn't throw for a ton of yards, but
- 48:37Speaker 1: the last couple of yards, I mean last couple of years.
- 48:39Speaker 1: He threw for three thousand last year nineteen touchdowns, seventeen interceptions,
- 48:42Speaker 1: not a great season, but the season before he threw
- 48:45Speaker 1: for forty three hundred yards, twenty one touchdowns fifteen interceptions,
- 48:49Speaker 1: and the season before his best, probably his two best
- 48:53Speaker 1: seasons in Seattle, he threw for forty two hundred and
- 48:55Speaker 1: thirty touchdowns and then he threw for thirty six hundred
- 48:58Speaker 1: and twenty touchdowns in nine. So he's shown that he
- 49:02Speaker 1: can play at a high level and Pro Bowl level
- 49:06Speaker 1: if if surrounded with enough talent and competent offensive play.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Out the last year, he threw a lot of interceptions,
- 49:12Speaker 1: and it was unfortunate, you know, some of them were
- 49:15Speaker 1: tipped balls and unfortunate situations. Some of them were bad decisions.
- 49:18Speaker 1: And I'm sure he could say the same thing, and
- 49:20Speaker 1: he's at the guy that would sit there and take
- 49:24Speaker 1: responsibility for the players that didn't make the mistakes that
- 49:27Speaker 1: he made. But clearly the Giants feel, I mean, the
- 49:30Speaker 1: Jets feel like he can come in and play adequate football.
- 49:34Speaker 1: I think with them trading for him and not allowing
- 49:39Speaker 1: the Raiders to release him and picking him up in
- 49:41Speaker 1: free agency shows that they value him and then paying
- 49:44Speaker 1: him what the Raiders were going to pay him. You know,
- 49:47Speaker 1: I think he's he's probably at thirty seven million dollars
- 49:49Speaker 1: or so a year. So picking up that contract that
- 49:53Speaker 1: lets me know that they expect to start him. Then
- 49:58Speaker 1: you know, he'll have Breese Hall, He'll have he'll have receivers,
- 50:02Speaker 1: Garrett Wilson that that can be dynamic. I'm sure they'll
- 50:06Speaker 1: draft more and he'll They'll probably look to to solidify
- 50:09Speaker 1: that team some more with the picks that they got
- 50:12Speaker 1: in the trade. But I think this is uh, you know,
- 50:16Speaker 1: it could be a cool like circle moment for Geno Smith.
- 50:21Speaker 1: I'm sure New York fans are holding their breath, are
- 50:23Speaker 1: are very anxious and nervous about this move, but uh,
- 50:27Speaker 1: you know this this could be one of those cool
- 50:29Speaker 1: full circle NFL moments that that that we talked about
- 50:33Speaker 1: later on. Or it could be a disaster. Who knows,
- 50:36Speaker 1: but I think that with the way g Knows played
- 50:37Speaker 1: over the last couple of years, outside of last year
- 50:40Speaker 1: for a really bad Las Vegas team, you know, if
- 50:43Speaker 1: he can play like he did the few years before,
- 50:45Speaker 1: I think they'd be happy with that.
- 50:48Speaker 2: The guy I'm nervous for right now is is my guy,
- 50:51Speaker 2: Aaron Glenn, you know, former Lions defensive coordinator. It gets
- 50:54Speaker 2: his first head coaching job as the New York Jets
- 50:56Speaker 2: and gets thrown into that New York fire right away
- 51:00Speaker 2: with a pretty poor season to say at least. So
- 51:04Speaker 2: I'm going to be rooting for Geno.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Man.
- 51:06Speaker 2: I want Aaron Glenn to have success. Love the guy
- 51:09Speaker 2: when he was here in Detroit. So we'll be rooting
- 51:11Speaker 2: for Gino going into next year. We'll see what happens. Obviously,
- 51:14Speaker 2: I'm sure Garrett Wilson has got a huge vested interest
- 51:17Speaker 2: in his success as well. And next we move on,
- 51:20Speaker 2: the Bills make some moves and they trade for DJ Moore.
- 51:24Speaker 2: They gave up a second round pick, they take on
- 51:27Speaker 2: his pretty bloated salary Richard. On its face, I did
- 51:32Speaker 2: not like the moves for the Bills. I especially didn't
- 51:34Speaker 2: like it because I thought they bailed out the Chicago
- 51:36Speaker 2: Bears a bit. But the Bills were desperate for a
- 51:40Speaker 2: wide receiver, So we put this on our weight and
- 51:42Speaker 2: see list. Obviously, Dj Moore, it can be a solid receiver.
- 51:47Speaker 2: What do you think he brings to Buffalo? What are
- 51:49Speaker 2: your thoughts on this move? Obviously we've got a huge
- 51:52Speaker 2: question mark next to it, But what are your initial thoughts?
- 51:55Speaker 1: Eh? I mean, is he that much different than what
- 52:01Speaker 1: they have that's what I You know, he's a gadget guy.
- 52:04Speaker 1: And you know, can he be a receiver that that
- 52:09Speaker 1: pushed the ball down the field and does some cool things? Sure?
- 52:11Speaker 1: Can he be getting intermediate, but you know, so can
- 52:14Speaker 1: Khalil Shakir, So can Josh Palmer, So can Kean Coleman,
- 52:19Speaker 1: you know, And I think I don't think he changes
- 52:22Speaker 1: the dynamic for this team enough for it to marrt
- 52:25Speaker 1: a second round pick. And that's the only thing. And
- 52:28Speaker 1: now is he a veteran receiver? Sure, but I don't.
- 52:32Speaker 1: You know, it's a wait and see for me because
- 52:35Speaker 1: and I know people are gonna kill him for that
- 52:37Speaker 1: last play of the season where if it looked like
- 52:39Speaker 1: he gave up on the route and you're in the
- 52:41Speaker 1: playoffs and the game's on the line and the ball's
- 52:43Speaker 1: coming your way, uh, and whether you think you're open
- 52:46Speaker 1: or not, you run. But I think, you know, he's
- 52:50Speaker 1: not different enough from the rest of their guys for
- 52:52Speaker 1: me to feel good about it.
- 52:55Speaker 2: And then finally Tua goes to the Falcons on a
- 52:59Speaker 2: one point two million dollars deal. What are your expectations
- 53:03Speaker 2: of to in Atlanta going into next year?
- 53:06Speaker 1: Well, I mean it's a it's a low risk potential,
- 53:09Speaker 1: high reward. But again, like I said the other day,
- 53:12Speaker 1: I you know, for the Miami Dolphins to pay him
- 53:15Speaker 1: fifty million dollars a year to leave, it's crazy, it's crazy,
- 53:20Speaker 1: you know. And and that's a move that I'm not
- 53:22Speaker 1: sure I agree with with teams have been doing and
- 53:25Speaker 1: just eating dead money and eating dead money because they're
- 53:28Speaker 1: looking to move off of players. And maybe the bridge
- 53:33Speaker 1: had been burnt in Miami and and it was irres
- 53:37Speaker 1: e reconcilable. But for the Falcons, I guess it makes
- 53:42Speaker 1: sense to a degree, like can he be better than Pennis?
- 53:46Speaker 1: You know? Is this going to be a true competition? Obviously,
- 53:48Speaker 1: the number that they're signed him for isn't indicative of
- 53:52Speaker 1: the way they see him, because they're just making Miami pay.
- 53:55Speaker 1: If they would have paid him ten million, then that
- 53:56Speaker 1: would have just been ten million that Miami didn't have
- 53:59Speaker 1: to pay. So I think in that regard it's not
- 54:03Speaker 1: as much of an indicator of how they feel about him.
- 54:06Speaker 1: And I think it's gonna be a true competition if
- 54:08Speaker 1: they feel like this offense can be better off with
- 54:10Speaker 1: Tuatunga Bailoa, who has at times played at a really
- 54:13Speaker 1: high level, and you're giving him two really good I mean,
- 54:16Speaker 1: you're giving him a good good tall receivers. I mean that's,
- 54:20Speaker 1: for lack of a better word, he went from speed
- 54:22Speaker 1: receivers that he couldn't see to to Drake London and
- 54:25Speaker 1: Kyle Pitts, who are who are six five plus and
- 54:28Speaker 1: you can see him, you can get him the ball,
- 54:32Speaker 1: and he's he's been accurate. He's a timing passer, he's
- 54:35Speaker 1: a rhythm passer, and if he can find that confidence
- 54:37Speaker 1: and rhythm that he once had, it could potentially be
- 54:41Speaker 1: a really cool move for the Atlanta Falcons. But you know, again,
- 54:45Speaker 1: that's why we're in wait and see.
- 54:48Speaker 2: The final thing I want to ask you about in
- 54:50Speaker 2: this wait and see category we while we're recording this,
- 54:54Speaker 2: we just got news that Daniel Jones has signed a
- 54:56Speaker 2: two year, eighty eight million dollar deal with Indianapolis Colts.
- 55:00Speaker 2: There's two true quarterbacks out there that can go to
- 55:04Speaker 2: teams and be starters right away, one being Kyler Murray,
- 55:08Speaker 2: the other being if he does choose to come back,
- 55:09Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers. You know, where do you think the best
- 55:13Speaker 2: landing spots for those guys are?
- 55:16Speaker 1: Well? I think for Aaron, it's it's obviously back in Pittsburgh.
- 55:21Speaker 1: With McCarthy now back in Pittsburgh, his hometown team, they
- 55:26Speaker 1: want to super Bowl together. I think that will be
- 55:30Speaker 1: the landing spot, the only viable spot for Aaron Rodgers
- 55:34Speaker 1: to go. They made a cool run late in the season.
- 55:38Speaker 1: You know, it seemed like he had a lot of
- 55:40Speaker 1: fun and he enjoyed himself. For Kyler, I don't know.
- 55:43Speaker 1: I mean maybe MLB, I don't I just don't see
- 55:48Speaker 1: a viable I don't see teams holding him.
- 55:51Speaker 2: What about I mean, what about Minnesota Richard. I mean,
- 55:53Speaker 2: this is a team that's going to be trotting out
- 55:55Speaker 2: JJ McCarthy and obviously they didn't show a whole lot
- 55:58Speaker 2: of faith with him. Do you think Kyler would have
- 56:02Speaker 2: upgrade that quarterback room at all or do you just
- 56:04Speaker 2: tried out JJ again?
- 56:06Speaker 1: No, he's definitely an upgrade over JJ, no question about that.
- 56:09Speaker 1: I'm not going to disrespect Kyler in that way. I
- 56:11Speaker 1: just I just don't know, you know, and I know
- 56:14Speaker 1: that Kevin O'Connell is a quarterback whisperer. I'm not sure
- 56:18Speaker 1: that Kyler Murray fits that style of offense. And I
- 56:21Speaker 1: don't think he can necessarily be the drop back, hitch
- 56:24Speaker 1: or back foot throw it to a spot kind of guy,
- 56:26Speaker 1: you know, And and I think at times that's been
- 56:29Speaker 1: his issue. But maybe I'm wrong. I think if I'm
- 56:35Speaker 1: the Minnesota Vikings, I'm still holding out hope that I
- 56:37Speaker 1: can get Meg Jones and and I can make him
- 56:40Speaker 1: the guy that can run this offense for the next
- 56:43Speaker 1: couple of years. Can Kyler do it? Maybe, you know,
- 56:47Speaker 1: maybe they take a flyer on Kyler Murray and bring
- 56:49Speaker 1: him in. But the issues that come with Kyler Murray,
- 56:54Speaker 1: I just I think are still going to be there,
- 56:57Speaker 1: and they're going to be prevalent, and that's a bit
- 56:59Speaker 1: of a distraction. But he is has been a star.
- 57:01Speaker 1: He has been a pro bowler in this league. So
- 57:03Speaker 1: you definitely, if you if your options are between him
- 57:07Speaker 1: and JJ McCarthy, you definitely grab him.
- 57:11Speaker 2: Finally, Richard, our last segment of the show, we got
- 57:14Speaker 2: to talk about some of these teams that in your
- 57:16Speaker 2: eyes are the biggest winners and losers. And I'm just
- 57:21Speaker 2: gonna mention some teams. You can tell me straight up
- 57:23Speaker 2: whether you see them as a winner or loser. And
- 57:25Speaker 2: let's start with the two that are in your own backyard.
- 57:28Speaker 2: Let's go with the stand. Let's start with the San
- 57:29Speaker 2: Francisco forty nine ers and then we'll move to the
- 57:31Speaker 2: Seattle Seahawks. Would you categorize the San Francisco forty nine
- 57:35Speaker 2: ers as a winner this offseason with the moves they've
- 57:37Speaker 2: made thus far?
- 57:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I feel like the San Francisco forty nine
- 57:40Speaker 1: ers and winners. They haven't overpaid for anybody. They got
- 57:42Speaker 1: Mike Mike Evans for an incredible deal, which looks like
- 57:45Speaker 1: it's a fourteen million per year deal, one for sixteen
- 57:49Speaker 1: potentially if they if they need to get out of it,
- 57:53Speaker 1: you know, it could be worth more if he plays this,
- 57:55Speaker 1: you know, with the incentives, I don't know what they
- 57:56Speaker 1: are yet. It's not re Signing Eddie Panero is a
- 58:00Speaker 1: big deal for them. They just signed Gared Wallow. I
- 58:06Speaker 1: think that's a good deal for him. Uh yeah, I
- 58:11Speaker 1: think they've They've retained their own and just getting healthy
- 58:14Speaker 1: is a big deal for them. And obviously there's still
- 58:16Speaker 1: some moves to be made in free agency. They picked
- 58:18Speaker 1: up a couple offensive linemen that can strengthen their depth.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Nothing crazy outside of the Mike Evans move, but I
- 58:27Speaker 1: think they're doing the things necessary to to continue to
- 58:31Speaker 1: be contenders, uh and keep themselves in the hunt. And
- 58:34Speaker 1: the same with the Seattle Seahawks. I know the Seahawks
- 58:36Speaker 1: fans are are like, oh my god, we're losing everybody,
- 58:39Speaker 1: like what happened to Kolbe and Reek and and again,
- 58:43Speaker 1: this is what happens with winning and also retaining your
- 58:46Speaker 1: own guys. You lost Kenneth Walker, you lost Super Bowl MVP,
- 58:49Speaker 1: and I know they're like a lot of people are
- 58:51Speaker 1: probably frustrated with that, but again, you got to trust
- 58:54Speaker 1: the process you're going when you when you have good players,
- 58:57Speaker 1: and you you think Devin Witherspoon is worth thirty one
- 59:00Speaker 1: million dollars, that's what he's gonna get. You know, you're
- 59:03Speaker 1: gonna give him thirty one million dollars. You're gonna give
- 59:05Speaker 1: JSN forty million dollars. They just gave Rasheets she Eats
- 59:08Speaker 1: seventeen million dollars. You're already paying Cooper Cup fifteen million dollars.
- 59:11Speaker 1: There's only so much money to go around. You're you're
- 59:13Speaker 1: paying Charles Cross, I want to say twenty six or
- 59:17Speaker 1: twenty seven million. They're paying a Lucas. You know, this
- 59:21Speaker 1: is how the game goes. You're paying Sam Donald and
- 59:23Speaker 1: they're likely after this season or sometime within this season,
- 59:27Speaker 1: have to re up Sam Donald and increase that number substantially.
- 59:32Speaker 1: And so that's what happens. And you trust up process,
- 59:35Speaker 1: You trust the stability of the team. You trust that
- 59:37Speaker 1: they've drafted well because you still have to pay so
- 59:40Speaker 1: many guys. What are you gonna do with Leonard Williams
- 59:42Speaker 1: in the long term? Are you gonna keep him Byron
- 59:45Speaker 1: Murphy's a guy that that's gonna get his payday as well.
- 59:49Speaker 1: So those are all the things you got to consider
- 59:51Speaker 1: when you're when you're John Snyder and you're thinking about
- 59:54Speaker 1: who to pay, who not to pay, who you're gonna
- 59:57Speaker 1: keep long term, who are the most valuable pieces, and
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: keeping this team being a super Bowl contender, And obviously
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: they think that they can weather the storm of losing
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: these guys. Obviously, Reek was a sixth round pick and
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: he did a fantastic job for this team. Was in
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: and out of the lineup at times last year, but
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: finished strong and they got a Super Bowl out of it.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Kobe Bryant another guy that played really well and earned
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: these contracts that they got but Taia Kata when when
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Kobe Bryant was out, you know, played well and instead,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: and I think the Seattle Seahawks feel really comfortable moving
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: forward with him and and drafting for that position, and
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: with the draft capital that they have. They feel good
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: with Witherspoon and Josh Joe when they were when they
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: were dependent on to to be in there and be consistent,
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: I think they could. They feel like they can bring
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: guys in to play those spots. They're going to trust
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: their scouting department, and they feel good.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: And then they obviously lose boy in MYFA as well.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: So it's gonna be an interesting, you know runway here
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: for the Seattle Seahawks. As you mentioned, they're gonna have
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: to pick and choose who they want to pay, and
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: then they're gonna have to focus on the draft, which
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: John Schuider has proven year after year he is more
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: than capable of doing. Richard, we got two other teams
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: to look at. Now. I'm almost coupling these two together
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: because we got to revisit this Micah Parsons trade a
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: year later. We're seeing the ramifications of it. Right, So
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: let's talk about the Cowboys and the Packers. A year later, Richard,
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: all things considered, who do you think ultimately won this trade?
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: We've seen the flexibility the Cowboys have been able to
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: have this offseason without having to pay Michael Parsons. Whose
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: side would you rather be on?
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Well, I think if you just look at it as
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: it stands, you last year you hope that that move
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: would be what the Packers needed to get them over
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: the hump in the playoffs and get them a deeper
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: playoff run. And seeing them still end up a seventh
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: seed and barely make the playoffs and another early exit
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: is disappointing. Obviously, the Dallas Cowboys were not close to
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: the playoffs, So if you're judging it by last year,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: you'd say the Green Bay Packers won that trade. But
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: with the fallout that's come from it and the picks
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: the players that they've lost, and we talked about kway
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Walker and now Rashaan Gary. If you look at the
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: defensive line that has now been built by the Dallas Cowboys,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: it looks incredibly formidable. It looks a lot better, and
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: it looks like one of the better defensive lines in
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: the National Football League. You look at Quinn Williams, Kenny
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: clark Osa, Odiggie Zua and then Rashaun Geary. That's a
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: very formidable defensive line that's among the best in the
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: National Football League that you can put and I think
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: that's going to be an incredibly disruptive defensive line and
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: very productive. And if they can be as productive on
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: the field as they look on paper, it would seem
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: that long term that that that does this could be
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: a win for Dallas. This could be a win on
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: top of the picks that that they got for for
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: uh for Michael Parsons and Michael and but that's what it's.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: It's still it's a wait and see kind of situation
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: because they have to go on the field and put
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: out a product and and then green Bay has to
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: replace for Sean Gary and replace Kwy Walker. And obviously
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: they got Zaire Franklin from Indianapolis to try to start
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: that process. But uh Micah Parsons is still an incredibly
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: productive player. He's an impactful player. He missed a couple
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: of games last season, but green Bay is still a
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: really good team. They are.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: There's just a lot of question marks that are going
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: in the next year with them. They've lost a lot
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: on the old line. You know, obviously they're not able
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: to bring back Malik Willis, who was again a staple
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: in that offense. Uh out of nowhere really and he
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: helped keep that boat afloat when Jordan Love was out.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: So you know, Heaven forbid Jordan Love, you know, sustains
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: another injury. I wonder who they turned to because those
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: four games that Malik Willis was able to, you know,
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: keep them competitive and win the bulk of you gotta
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: wonder if they're gonna have the same success without them. So,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: you know, if it was me, I'd rather be on
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: the Dallas cowboy side of things. But some will say
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: that that's my Detroit Lion bias speaking. The last team here, Richard,
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: that you're putting firmly in the winners category is the
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: La Rams. We've already talked about it, but obviously they
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: were aggressive bolstering their defensive back core. How much do
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: you like from the Rams? And how you know nervous
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: should the Niners and Seattle Seahawks be about the moves
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: they are making this offseason.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: I don't think anybody's nervous. I think all three of
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: those teams are really confident. But I think These are
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: great moves for the Rams to solidify that defense. They
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: already have a great pass rush. They have so many
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: guys up front. You talk about Jared First, Brandon Fisk.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: They have the guys up front. You got Landman at linebacker.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: And then you go to the secondary and now you
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: have a very formidable secondary. You have two corners that
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: can play in a variety of coverages and really clamp
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: down Trent McDuffie. Both As I said earlier, it's versional
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: play inside outside. Jalen Watson, it's playing press man to man.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: He can play zone, he can play off, he can
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: play up on the line, he can play two to
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: three quarters, backside, anything you need him to play. So
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: I think this helps them a ton in that regard.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: And then finally, Richard, every year there's a team that
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: goes from worse to first, and this offseason, three of
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: the worst teams from last year are spending the most money.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: Which of these teams you think has improved the most,
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: The Jets, the Raiders, or the Titans. All these teams
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: are going out and making some eye opening moves. I
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: don't want to call them great moves, but they're certainly
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: spending a lot of money. Which fan base do you
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: think should be most excited by the moves being made
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: by their organization?
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Is just this is a tough situation that trial. I
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: don't know what you want me to say.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: I mean, Richard, the Jets have gone out and got
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: Minka Fitzpatrick. You know, you don't want to just sneeze
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: at him. They went out and got Geno Smith. You know,
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: obviously they got the Mario Davis and Tovandre Sweat. I
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: know none of those names necessarily to move the needle,
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: but there are a lot of veteran names. The Titans
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: go out and grab a handful of guys. We already
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: talked about Wandel Robinson. They've they've made a huge investment
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: in terms of bringing in uh John Franklin Myers and
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Jermaine Johnson. And then we see a big payday for
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Alante Taylor. You know, the Titans to me, have added
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: the most proven players. They've certainly spent the most money.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Robert Salah is one of your buddies. I mean, do
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: we lean more towards the Titans? Do you think here?
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: Yeah, my bias is going to have me lean more
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: towards the Titans because I want to see Robert Sala
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: do well as a head coach because I love him
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: as a person. But these are teams that that that
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: were picking early in the draft, and and and I
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: don't know if these moves take them out of picking
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: early in the draft. I think the coaching may may
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: help the Titans improve. They're not in the best division,
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: but I mean, last year, I can't even say that anymore.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: I can't even say the AFC self is a terrible
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: division because of way Jacksonville played last year, Houston and
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: and everything they have on their defensive side. If CJ.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Stroud can can play, you know, closer to what he
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: played early on in his his NFL career, then they
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: they are a really formidable team. They're a tough defense
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: to deal with. And then, uh, the Indianapolis Coast. They
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: just resigned Daniel Jones for forty four a year, and
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: when he was healthy and they were rolling, Jonathan Taylor
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: was rolling. They just you know, they had a lot
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: of great things going on. So yeah, I want the
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Titans to do well, but that division is a lot
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: tougher than it used to be. The Jets they had
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: a long road. I mean, you got to bring him,
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Mika Fitzpatrick and some veterans to hopefully get you an interception.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: To go whole season without an interception as a Jets defense,
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: I mean, it was record setting. I've never seen anything
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: like it. And when you're a defensive head coach, I mean,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: that's that's a that's that's a black eye against you.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: And I'm sure he was really frustrated with that, and
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: that's why they're going out of their way to address it.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: They're bringing in veteran players that know the game to
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Mario Davis is going to be the captain and center
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: of that defense, and I think that that gives them
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: some stability and credibility. They're no question about that. But
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: again it's it's to be seen and to be determined.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: The Raiders. They're spending a lot of money on the
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: guys that can play, but can they all play well together?
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: And that's that's the thing when you when you're at
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: such that these rosters were so depleted. You know, when
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: when your cup is is empty of sorts, you know,
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: poorn in some you know, how many wins does this
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: get you? Does gets you to six? This gets you
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: to seven? Does this make you a playoff team, a
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: wild card fringe team. I'm not sure, and I'm not
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: sure what in order for me to consider them winners
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: that these would have to earn them from top five
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: picks to playoff teams, and I'm not sure that does that.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: Well. If one of these teams can replicate the New
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: England Patriots model, I mean, the New England Patriots with
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: the biggest spenders last offseason, we saw them ride that
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: all the way to the Super Bowl. I mean, you
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: look at the Titans and Raiders, who both have you know,
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: young quarterbacks. Raiders obviously with the assumption they draft men.
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: Those are the Titans with cam Ward. You just wonder
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: obviously Drake may is a stud. If cam Ward can it,
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: can you know, take that next step. If it's me,
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: I'm leaning towards the Tennessee Titans here, Richard. We've got
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: so much more to talk about coming up, obviously, free agents,
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: just getting free agencies, just getting started. We got the
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: draft around the corner. Richard. It's always a pleasure sitting
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: down with you, my man. I will let you sign
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: us off well.
