- 0:28Oh yes, I don't sleep joking, I do sometimes.
- 0:31Guys, what's going on? Welcome back.
- 0:32If you're new around here, I have a free autism Wi-Fi PDF
- 0:34book you can download now from autismhacks.net completely free.
- 0:38The link is down below. So sensory processing disorder,
- 0:42what is it? So sensory processing disorder,
- 0:44sometimes called SPD is a form of different types of sensory
- 0:49hyper or hyposensitivities to sensory environments.
- 0:52And this is third party stimuli. So this could be that you are
- 0:57told to different lights. You could be in a, an amusement
- 0:59arcade, the lights are too bright or flickering and it's
- 1:01really causing you harm. Or there is a, an event going on
- 1:05and the noise is too loud. Even could be walking through a
- 1:07mole and the noise is too loud and and you're making you cover
- 1:10your ears. Now sensory processing disorder
- 1:12comes comorbidly with autism and autism is a neurological
- 1:16developmental condition which actually has a bunch of
- 1:18different things Co occurring. It could be like ADHD, it could
- 1:20be OCD, all kinds of stuff. Now I have sensory processing
- 1:23disorder myself and it is very interesting that mine is like
- 1:27texture and smell based and sound based.
- 1:30But sometimes you can be also hyposensitive.
- 1:33So a person could be less sensitive or more sensitive to
- 1:38something. It's really quite interesting.
- 1:39And sometimes you can have a combination of both.
- 1:41So someone could be like hypersensitive to sound, but
- 1:44hyposensitive to taste. So they could like have to block
- 1:47out loads of sound, even if it's like the, the, the lowest sound
- 1:50ever, like, you know, a mouse sticking of fat in the next room
- 1:53and he could be like really sensitive to that sound.
- 1:55However you could sit and eat like spicy food until the cows
- 1:58come home because it it just effects people on the oxy
- 2:01spectrum differently. Now up to date I've not really
- 2:03come across many people who have just a sensory processing
- 2:06disorder diagnosis. It's usually Co caring with like
- 2:08autism or ADHD. Now, sensory processing disorder
- 2:12can be very debilitating. And I know for me when I was
- 2:15doing my degree in chemistry, you had to do a bunch of other
- 2:17stuff 1st. And we were analyzing onion skin
- 2:20under a microscope and I remember being in the room with
- 2:23cut onions and I couldn't be there because I'm really
- 2:26sensitive to the smell of onions.
- 2:27I'm really sensitive to the smell of garlic as well.
- 2:30So I can't be in the room with those things, which makes it
- 2:32very difficult for me to cook because how can I cook when
- 2:35they're the basis of pretty much every meal, right?
- 2:38So it's really difficult and it can be very challenging.
- 2:41But that being said, there are so many things to help overcome.
- 2:43I mean, even though life hacked a book that I've linked down
- 2:45below for free, I have some sensory processing hacks in
- 2:49there that will help people who are hypersensitive to certain
- 2:52things like, you know, tags on the back of the back of the
- 2:54shirt or even seams, the socks. All those things are century
- 2:57processing issues. I'd love to know your opinions
- 2:59and your input on it. Pop in the comment down below.
- 3:01Give this video a share if you think it can help somebody and
- 3:04I'll see you in the next storm guys.
- 3:05Peace.
