- 0:02Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, Boys and girls, it's your favorite time
- 0:05Speaker 1: of the week.
- 0:05Speaker 2: You get to download the crazy seet, you get to
- 0:07Speaker 2: talk about some college football. I'm Mark, I'm in the
- 0:10Speaker 2: podcasting studio, Scott. He's at home. Brother.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We are gonna talk to us some SEC is our
- 0:15Speaker 1: first conference that we're gonna preview you.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I'm excited about the SEC this season, man.
- 0:22Speaker 1: SEC media days are going on. Brian Kelly's already talking
- 0:24Speaker 1: about they gotta win game one. I mean, let's see
- 0:27Speaker 1: what they got that Mustard tre for them.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I think that is fabulous. He did lay it out there.
- 0:34Speaker 3: My favorite part of Brian Kelly's talk yesterday was coaches
- 0:39Speaker 3: have got to decide the rules and have some character
- 0:42Speaker 3: and stick to it. Well, good f and luck with that, buddy,
- 0:48Speaker 3: luck with that.
- 0:49Speaker 2: If that's what you're waiting on in this league.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Then you better go find a new job, because that's
- 0:54Speaker 3: not gonna happen. I can't tell you much, but I
- 0:57Speaker 3: can guarant that gun to you, that's not gonna happen.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Whatever they got to do to win, if that means
- 1:05Speaker 3: step on your neck, they're gonna step on your neck.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So it's it's buddy, Yeah, it's amazing to me, like
- 1:12Speaker 1: what we will do to win and we will overlook.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I mean, Hugh Freeze was essentially fired at Old Miss's
- 1:19Speaker 1: escapegoat for maybe maybe not hiring hookers to come he.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Hooks in the bottom line hiring hookers for players.
- 1:28Speaker 1: And then he ends up in an evangelical college to
- 1:30Speaker 1: get baptized in the in the waters. And now he's
- 1:34Speaker 1: the head coach at Auburn, and you know they're coping
- 1:36Speaker 1: to turn that thing around.
- 1:38Speaker 2: You got that going on.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Bobby Petrino, who was what's the head coach at University
- 1:42Speaker 1: of Arkansas, was fired for lying to his boss, the
- 1:46Speaker 1: athletic director, and because he was sleeping with someone that
- 1:50Speaker 1: worked in the football department that was a graduate.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Student that he's giving a job to without proper, proper
- 1:57Speaker 3: uh proper interviews across the board. He just gave her
- 2:01Speaker 3: the job because he was sleeping weather and then boom,
- 2:03Speaker 3: he's back at Arkansas and maybe the next head coming.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean you imagine it's like, hey, I come home,
- 2:12Speaker 2: what happened? Mate?
- 2:13Speaker 1: Well, I lied to my boss and uh and they
- 2:16Speaker 1: fired me. And then two years later coming back, well
- 2:19Speaker 1: they're not doing very good. So they're bringing me back
- 2:21Speaker 1: into the phone. Football is the only sport that works.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Michael think.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I don't think went to prison. They got he got
- 2:27Speaker 1: out of Prison's like, hey, we need we need to
- 2:29Speaker 1: back up quarterback. All right, get Ron Mexico back in here.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Let's get this thing rolling. I mean, it comes to
- 2:34Speaker 1: sports we have the rules are completely different, if there
- 2:37Speaker 1: are any.
- 2:38Speaker 2: But anyway, the SEC powerhouse kind.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Of the bullying of college football now trying to figure
- 2:44Speaker 1: out if they're gonna be the ones to set the
- 2:46Speaker 1: reins the way this is gonna go. Obviously, they've got
- 2:48Speaker 1: the most money, they've got the most stroke, they've got
- 2:51Speaker 1: the best teams. Uh. Everything about the SEC, if you
- 2:54Speaker 1: enjoy college football, is fun. Uh, but it's gonna be interesting.
- 2:57Speaker 1: They had not won the Natty in the last two years,
- 3:00Speaker 1: and so I'm sure Greg Sankie is probably thinking about
- 3:03Speaker 1: that a little bit because he wants to be in control,
- 3:06Speaker 1: you know, he wants to play bully ball with everybody else.
- 3:08Speaker 1: And I think this season, when you look at the SEC,
- 3:11Speaker 1: there's some fascinating storyline. I think there's gonna be coaches
- 3:14Speaker 1: that may not have jobs at the end of the year,
- 3:16Speaker 1: depending on how their contracts are. As far as buyouts
- 3:19Speaker 1: or concerned and things of that nature, I think you've
- 3:22Speaker 1: got some definite tiers of what's going to.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Go on in the SEC and so I'm I'm excited
- 3:27Speaker 2: about it.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I do think that we're probably gonna have someone that
- 3:30Speaker 1: will play for the national championship coming out of this conference.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I know that's not like an earth shattering thing, but
- 3:35Speaker 1: they would.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Have last year if if the quarterback doesn't get hurt
- 3:38Speaker 3: at Georgia. I mean, look, that team was playing really,
- 3:41Speaker 3: really well. Texas was a nose hair away from beating
- 3:46Speaker 3: Ohio State. I mean, look that Jack Sar you're getting
- 3:49Speaker 3: that they score right there, and man, Texas may win
- 3:52Speaker 3: that ball game. Yeah, and it ends up, you know,
- 3:56Speaker 3: being an Ohio State cover because of that, because.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Of that play.
- 4:01Speaker 3: But man, that was a great ball game Texas in
- 4:03Speaker 3: that had a chance to win it. That's team that
- 4:05Speaker 3: lost to Georgia twice. Georgia was a different football teach.
- 4:09Speaker 3: No way they lose that game to Notre Dame if
- 4:12Speaker 3: their quarterback's healthy. That's just my personal opinion, but that's reality.
- 4:18Speaker 3: That's college football where we're at now. Kids are going
- 4:20Speaker 3: to get hurt and the depth isn't there that it
- 4:22Speaker 3: used to be the league. We mentioned this before we
- 4:25Speaker 3: started recording that I got more excited about where the
- 4:29Speaker 3: league is at after studying all the teams this week,
- 4:33Speaker 3: really getting into it and getting into some depth of
- 4:36Speaker 3: it and looking at some teams. I got higher on
- 4:39Speaker 3: A and M after this weekend. Now, look, they always
- 4:43Speaker 3: find a way to gag it, you know, so, but
- 4:46Speaker 3: so can they get it done. There are three or
- 4:50Speaker 3: four teams in this league that are going to go
- 4:52Speaker 3: as their quarterback goes. They can be really good and
- 4:56Speaker 3: they can be really bad. OHU, schedule is brutal. They're
- 4:59Speaker 3: one of them. My tears as good as advertised coaching
- 5:02Speaker 3: comes in because I do think the coaching quarterback combo
- 5:05Speaker 3: is going to be a big deal.
- 5:06Speaker 2: For them getting some continuity back.
- 5:08Speaker 3: They took a step back because they lost their offensive
- 5:10Speaker 3: coordinator and guy they brought in didn't do as good
- 5:12Speaker 3: as a job. That's why they weren't as good on
- 5:14Speaker 3: offense last year. That's why Arnold was in the portal,
- 5:17Speaker 3: you know. So it's so there's some there's some excitement.
- 5:20Speaker 2: There for me. Man. That schedule is brutal.
- 5:22Speaker 3: They could be a really good football team and go
- 5:25Speaker 3: seven and five or eight and four.
- 5:27Speaker 2: The flip side, they may make the They may make.
- 5:29Speaker 3: The playoff at nine and three because of that schedule,
- 5:32Speaker 3: and hell they may win it all.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah. How good I think this team can be or
- 5:37Speaker 2: how bad I think they can be. I think he
- 5:39Speaker 2: can go.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Seven and five, be a really good football team, and
- 5:41Speaker 3: he may get fired. So there's some excitement about this league.
- 5:47Speaker 3: You know, look, man, if Simpson I ain't, Bama's got
- 5:50Speaker 3: a chance.
- 5:51Speaker 2: To be damn good. I mean really good. And I'm
- 5:55Speaker 2: big on Simpson.
- 5:57Speaker 3: You know, didn't know his dad is a stretch had
- 6:01Speaker 3: met his dad. The guy's a coach. Just a smart kid,
- 6:09Speaker 3: a really talented kid. People forget this kid was a
- 6:12Speaker 3: five star coming out and he is a great athlete.
- 6:15Speaker 3: He ain't Jaylen Milroe, but man, he's.
- 6:18Speaker 2: A really good athlete.
- 6:19Speaker 3: He's probably top three athletes playing quarterback in this league.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I mean, he's a really good athlete. And he's you know,
- 6:28Speaker 3: he's a coach's kid. He's gonna be savvy. I think
- 6:31Speaker 3: this is a better fit for the Bower. I think
- 6:32Speaker 3: you see more of what you've got from Presno and
- 6:35Speaker 3: Washington under the bower than you saw last year this year,
- 6:40Speaker 3: and so I think it's becomes more his team this year,
- 6:43Speaker 3: and I think you start seeing why everyone thinks so
- 6:46Speaker 3: highly of Kaylen the Boer. So I think this league's
- 6:49Speaker 3: gonna be I mean, super excited.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Man.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Hell I can spend ten minutes on every team. Tell
- 6:53Speaker 3: you why I'm excited about him or why I'm really
- 6:55Speaker 3: down on him. You're gonna wish there wasn't the blowback
- 6:59Speaker 3: of you getting hired at at A and M buddy,
- 7:02Speaker 3: because I think the end of the run may be
- 7:06Speaker 3: happening in Lexington, and it's been a darn It's been.
- 7:10Speaker 2: A hell of a run for that guy. I mean,
- 7:11Speaker 2: he put them on the map. But I think you're right.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Let's dive in real quick. The team most people want
- 7:16Speaker 1: to talk about the whole country's got to University of Texas.
- 7:18Speaker 1: You've got arch Manning coming in here. I was sitting
- 7:20Speaker 1: there talking to my daughter last night. I was thinking
- 7:22Speaker 1: about how crazy it is. His granddad played in the NFL,
- 7:25Speaker 1: his two uncles played in the NFL, one of them
- 7:27Speaker 1: in the Hall of Fame, both of them won Super Bowls.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And now you've got a kid that's going to go
- 7:31Speaker 1: the University of Texas. He's going to lead them to
- 7:34Speaker 1: hopefully run their national championship back after they haven't been
- 7:37Speaker 1: relevant in about twenty years in that space, and then
- 7:39Speaker 1: he'll end up getting drafted. This team lost three games
- 7:41Speaker 1: last year. They lost to Georgia twice, and they lost
- 7:44Speaker 1: to Oklahoma, and they lost to Ohio State. And the
- 7:47Speaker 1: Georgia loss in the first one, they shut them down.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Georgia completely absolutely shut that team down. And the second
- 7:53Speaker 1: Georgia loss, Texas played better, but they still got out dueled.
- 7:57Speaker 2: And then when you get.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Into the Ohio State game, they don't funnel that there
- 8:01Speaker 1: in the goal line, and that's a completely different game
- 8:03Speaker 1: in that space. But the one thing that I've started
- 8:06Speaker 1: looking at with Texas is how interesting it is. They
- 8:08Speaker 1: lose Kelvin Banks off the offensive line. They've got to
- 8:11Speaker 1: bring some new guys in. I think that's their biggest
- 8:13Speaker 1: spot that they're going to have to rebuild. But they've
- 8:16Speaker 1: got a ton of talent face on the defensive side.
- 8:20Speaker 1: They've got three All Americans. You've got Conlin Simmons, You've
- 8:24Speaker 1: got Anthony Hill, and you've got Michael Taut that are
- 8:26Speaker 1: coming in there. And so as a hole with this
- 8:29Speaker 1: Texas team, you've got a thousand yard rusher coming back,
- 8:32Speaker 1: you've got CJ. Baxter that you've got injured last year
- 8:35Speaker 1: coming back, and you've got Arch manning. The one knock
- 8:39Speaker 1: you could look at over the last couple of years
- 8:40Speaker 1: with the Texas team is they haven't been great in
- 8:43Speaker 1: the red zone as far as converting those into touchdowns.
- 8:45Speaker 1: But I kind of think with Arch you're going to
- 8:47Speaker 1: see some more RPO that they didn't do with Ers
- 8:51Speaker 1: because viewers didn't I'm not saying he didn't like to run,
- 8:53Speaker 1: but he wasn't as mobile or maybe as durable as
- 8:56Speaker 1: Arch is. But when I look at this Texas team,
- 8:59Speaker 1: the over under win totals at nine and a half,
- 9:02Speaker 1: I lean heavy to the over here. But I think
- 9:05Speaker 1: instead of betting at nine and a half, because their
- 9:07Speaker 1: schedule is still gonna be really tricky.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I mean, there's a lot of potholes in this thing.
- 9:11Speaker 1: But instead of betting the over at nine and a half,
- 9:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna lay plus three with Texas opening weekends at
- 9:17Speaker 1: Ohio State and then if and then if that, if
- 9:21Speaker 1: they lose that game, by chance, I'm gonna come back
- 9:24Speaker 1: and bet them get a chance to win the national championship.
- 9:26Speaker 3: You know what's interesting is I you know this schedule
- 9:30Speaker 3: is in today obviously go to Ohio State and that
- 9:32Speaker 3: is such a gigantic game.
- 9:34Speaker 2: I mean where you're going to see that.
- 9:37Speaker 3: That is a I mean that's every bit as big
- 9:40Speaker 3: as Vince Young going up there a few years ago.
- 9:43Speaker 2: This is a huge game.
- 9:45Speaker 3: But they bounced back at home against the San Jose
- 9:48Speaker 3: State team that I think is gonna be a better
- 9:51Speaker 3: football team this year.
- 9:52Speaker 2: I think they've got don't sleep on them. Don't sleep
- 9:54Speaker 2: on them. Don't sleep on those guys.
- 9:56Speaker 3: So you're gonna get and for you talk about flat,
- 9:59Speaker 3: ain't no way long warns aren't gonna be flat. I
- 10:01Speaker 3: mean it's San Jose stayed. This is a tricky spot
- 10:05Speaker 3: for them. Now after that, Longhorns are gonna get are
- 10:08Speaker 3: gonna get into this schedule. I mean, look, I like
- 10:11Speaker 3: this schedule. They're at Florida. I think we all know.
- 10:14Speaker 3: But the Longhorns need to be they I think if
- 10:18Speaker 3: they've got if they've got hopes of of real national championship,
- 10:26Speaker 3: I ain't they got to figure out how to beat
- 10:27Speaker 3: obyt State. I really do, because if they look at
- 10:30Speaker 3: that team at Oklahoma games a toss up, and it
- 10:33Speaker 3: is every year, and I think Oklahoma's going to be
- 10:35Speaker 3: really good this year. At Florida's sneaky. Now they got
- 10:39Speaker 3: at Kentucky and a Mississippi State that ought to be wins.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Then you got Georgia on the road. Then you got
- 10:48Speaker 3: what is what should be an easy win, but as
- 10:50Speaker 3: a rivalry with Arkansas, and then boom, A and M
- 10:52Speaker 3: right back, and A and M is going to be
- 10:54Speaker 3: a really really good football team. I'll tell you what
- 10:57Speaker 3: I like about Texas, and everybody's eyes are story with Manning,
- 11:01Speaker 3: and I like their running backs. I think they got
- 11:03Speaker 3: two of the probably the ten best running backs in
- 11:05Speaker 3: the league. This is a good offensive line. You've got
- 11:09Speaker 3: a really really good dual multiple quarterback. I think this
- 11:13Speaker 3: offense in Sarkisian. I think they are going to be
- 11:16Speaker 3: clipping along. And look, this defense is gonna be good.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I think this is a really really good football team.
- 11:22Speaker 3: They are a legitimate national title contender. I think Texas, Alabama,
- 11:27Speaker 3: and Georgia are all three national title teams, but all
- 11:32Speaker 3: three of them are only gonna get there if their
- 11:35Speaker 3: quarterbacks can play to a level to get them there.
- 11:40Speaker 3: That really Now, I will tell you this, I think
- 11:43Speaker 3: arch Manning, because of that that running game I just
- 11:46Speaker 3: told you about, has got the widest window to not
- 11:51Speaker 3: be great and still get his team there. Does that
- 11:55Speaker 3: make Does that make sense? Meaning he doesn't have to
- 11:57Speaker 3: go be an All American for them to get there?
- 12:01Speaker 3: Now to beat Ohio State, yeah, the one at all?
- 12:03Speaker 3: Does he have to be great? One hundred percent? I
- 12:05Speaker 3: think so do. I think this team is good enough
- 12:07Speaker 3: to get to a player because look, with this schedule,
- 12:10Speaker 3: I really do believe therefore sure end with two losses
- 12:16Speaker 3: for sure. Yeah, if they lose to Ohio State, lose
- 12:19Speaker 3: to Georgia, they're for sure in. I think it's very
- 12:22Speaker 3: possible with a third loss, depending on what A and
- 12:25Speaker 3: M or Oklahoma does, that they could get in. So
- 12:29Speaker 3: that's that is what I mean about arch Manning. Doesn't
- 12:34Speaker 3: I think doesn't have to be great. I think Simpson's
- 12:37Speaker 3: gonna have to be really good for Bama to take
- 12:40Speaker 3: to be better than they were last year. I think
- 12:42Speaker 3: they've got to have improved quarterback play. And I think
- 12:44Speaker 3: the Georgia Bulldogs are only going to go as far
- 12:47Speaker 3: as the quarterback that played in the playoffs and in
- 12:50Speaker 3: the you know, in the rest of that championship game,
- 12:53Speaker 3: he's got to be better than that. He's got to
- 12:55Speaker 3: be a better player than that.
- 12:56Speaker 2: See, you've got Georgia and Alabama who play each other
- 12:59Speaker 2: this year, that's right, right, I didn't overlook that.
- 13:02Speaker 3: But both everybody's playing same schedule they played last year.
- 13:06Speaker 3: So yes, Georgia and Obama are playing again. So everybody
- 13:10Speaker 3: SEC repeats, you're just flipping it. Road games went to
- 13:14Speaker 3: home games.
- 13:15Speaker 1: So when you when you look at both of these schedules,
- 13:17Speaker 1: both Georgia out. So the top tier of the SEC
- 13:20Speaker 1: to me is Texas, Georgia, Alabama, and then I'm kind
- 13:25Speaker 1: of somewhere between L s U A and M and
- 13:31Speaker 1: LM Oahoma L s U.
- 13:33Speaker 2: I mean, so wait, let's take the top three. All
- 13:35Speaker 2: of those teams have nine and a half wind totals.
- 13:38Speaker 1: If you're looking at Georgia and Alabama, and you can
- 13:41Speaker 1: break them down how you want to go through it.
- 13:42Speaker 2: But if you look at both.
- 13:44Speaker 1: These rosters, I think the two best teams of the
- 13:46Speaker 1: conference are going to be Texas and Alabama.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I think I don't that's my personal opinion.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Georgia to me, even though the roster is fantastic and
- 13:55Speaker 1: the one the commonality between those three rosters is high
- 13:58Speaker 1: school recruiting. All three of those programs have done a
- 14:02Speaker 1: hell of a job recruiting high school kids and developing
- 14:04Speaker 1: their rosters around it, and they've used the portal to
- 14:07Speaker 1: plug talent where they need it. They haven't had to
- 14:10Speaker 1: reboot the roster, right, And that's the luxury of being
- 14:13Speaker 1: a blue blood in college football is that you can
- 14:15Speaker 1: still recruit high school kids.
- 14:16Speaker 2: You can build a roster. They're willing to stay.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Arch Manning has been there for three years. Dude, Ky
- 14:21Speaker 1: Simpson's been there for three years, you know what me
- 14:25Speaker 1: So it's like, you know, you get that, and they're
- 14:27Speaker 1: coming into Gunnar Stockton's been there for three years, you know.
- 14:30Speaker 1: So there's the commonality around that, and it's just a
- 14:33Speaker 1: matter of what's gonna happen. Like last year, Georgia's offense
- 14:36Speaker 1: was their biggest problem. They could not there was no
- 14:39Speaker 1: explosion last year. No one realized how much they were
- 14:41Speaker 1: gonna miss brock Vowers in lad mccackey until they weren't there.
- 14:45Speaker 1: And then everybody wants to point it, you know, at
- 14:47Speaker 1: the quarterback and say, oh, he wasn't that good.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Nobody's figuring out now, Ladi McConkie wasn't just a roll guy.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I mean that guy's.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Maybe one of the best wide receivers in the NFL
- 14:56Speaker 3: this year. He's a grinder, hard worker, he runs great route.
- 14:59Speaker 3: So yeah, I agree with you. They lost some great
- 15:01Speaker 3: people and couldn't replace them.
- 15:04Speaker 1: You know, you're looking at George and Bamba. Where are
- 15:06Speaker 1: you gonna go with it? All that and a half wins?
- 15:08Speaker 1: Do you think Texas, Georgia and Alabama looking for your schedules?
- 15:11Speaker 2: Look at the rosters.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Can all of them go over nine and a half wins?
- 15:14Speaker 1: Or which one falls to ninety three? And then you're
- 15:16Speaker 1: keeping your fingers crossed?
- 15:18Speaker 2: Do we get a bit? You know where I really look.
- 15:21Speaker 3: I want to say one thing as I say this,
- 15:22Speaker 3: because I'm gonna I'm gonna double talk on you here
- 15:26Speaker 3: a little bit, because I think that I think that
- 15:30Speaker 3: Bama has the toughest road to get to ten wins.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Let me say that.
- 15:35Speaker 3: But I also think Simpson is going to be a player.
- 15:37Speaker 3: But gunnerstock to forget this, he was his classification in
- 15:40Speaker 3: Georgia's Player of the Year. I mean the dude was
- 15:44Speaker 3: a damn good athlete. Making you go back and watch
- 15:46Speaker 3: videos that kid in high school. It looks like a
- 15:48Speaker 3: video game. I mean, he it's crazy. So that kid's
- 15:52Speaker 3: are really that kid's talented. I just think I think
- 15:55Speaker 3: he's gonna grind. I think he's a hard word. There
- 15:57Speaker 3: the reason Kirby Smart didn't go out and hit the
- 15:59Speaker 3: portal because he certainly could have. You know, he could
- 16:02Speaker 3: have gone and gotten one of these marquee guys that
- 16:04Speaker 3: was in the You think Materier goes to Georgia or
- 16:06Speaker 3: Oklahoma if you want. I mean, that's the that's the
- 16:10Speaker 3: bottom line. There's reason Kirby didn't go get one of
- 16:13Speaker 3: those guys. That's the truth. And I think he's got
- 16:17Speaker 3: a lot of confidence in him and he sees him
- 16:19Speaker 3: every day. I think that that that the schedule sets
- 16:22Speaker 3: up better. Honestly, I give the lean of because here's
- 16:25Speaker 3: Bama's road schedule at Georgia, at Missouri, at South Carolina,
- 16:30Speaker 3: and at Auburn, and then they've got LSU and Oklahoma.
- 16:36Speaker 2: I just and.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Here's the other side of this, of this Alabama schedule.
- 16:41Speaker 3: They play eleven really good I mean ten really good
- 16:43Speaker 3: football teams. Because they played Florida State, who I think
- 16:46Speaker 3: they'll beat, But Florida State's gonna be better. Then two
- 16:48Speaker 3: weeks later they play Wisconsin. They're one of the only
- 16:51Speaker 3: teams in the Southeastern Conference them in Florida playing that
- 16:54Speaker 3: hyghe oftalent. Do I think they're gonna beat Wisconsin. Yes,
- 16:57Speaker 3: because we'll get into that in the Big Ten. I
- 16:59Speaker 3: don't think Consin's gonna be very good. I'm not saying
- 17:02Speaker 3: they're gonna lose those games. That's wear and tear on
- 17:04Speaker 3: your body that these teams go look at Georgia's schedule,
- 17:07Speaker 3: Marshall and those kinds of guy.
- 17:09Speaker 2: No, it's not the same. It's not the same schedule.
- 17:12Speaker 3: So I lean towards Bama being the nine and three,
- 17:15Speaker 3: even though I think Simpson's gonna be really good. But
- 17:18Speaker 3: I don't line with you. I wouldn't take the risk.
- 17:21Speaker 3: I think the SEC is gonna have some losses and
- 17:24Speaker 3: the depth gets into it. I think there's gonna be
- 17:26Speaker 3: some teams with some losses. You look, man, I go
- 17:29Speaker 3: look at this Georgia's schedule, and look, we'll talk about
- 17:33Speaker 3: this when we briefly get to Mississippi State. I think
- 17:35Speaker 3: they're gonna be better. But ma'am, they here is their schedule.
- 17:39Speaker 3: They got old. Let me let's go back Alabama, Kentucky
- 17:43Speaker 3: at Auburn, Ole miss Auburn and Georgia. The longest running
- 17:46Speaker 3: rivalry in the Southeastern Conference. All right, that is a
- 17:49Speaker 3: gigantic game off week Florida, huge rivalry at Mississippi State Texas.
- 17:57Speaker 3: You think they're gonna go to start more remotely ready
- 17:59Speaker 3: to play. They're gonna play just like they did last year.
- 18:02Speaker 3: When and if States remotely better, that may be more
- 18:07Speaker 3: game than George is expecting. I'm certainly not expecting them
- 18:09Speaker 3: to lose that game. They're gonna win that game. But
- 18:12Speaker 3: George show up and that that is That's where the
- 18:18Speaker 3: love with their off weeks fall. That's one of the
- 18:21Speaker 3: reasons I like this Georgia team to be there at
- 18:24Speaker 3: the end. I think if one and you know the
- 18:27Speaker 3: other reason that I like Georgia, nobody's talking about it,
- 18:32Speaker 3: Andy Hell is nobody talking about this team nobody. I mean,
- 18:38Speaker 3: they are gonna be nasty. They were nasty Lass. They
- 18:41Speaker 3: were the best team in the league last year until
- 18:43Speaker 3: their quarterback got hurt and they got a lot of
- 18:45Speaker 3: players back.
- 18:46Speaker 2: I mean Dell is probably the best tight end in
- 18:48Speaker 2: the league.
- 18:49Speaker 3: I mean, if if the if the Bandy kid didn't,
- 18:51Speaker 3: I mean it is that kid's a stud. They've got
- 18:55Speaker 3: some players they went that got a couple of good
- 18:56Speaker 3: wide receivers.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I expect I expect this team to be really good.
- 19:00Speaker 3: I mean, they always have running backs, So I mean
- 19:02Speaker 3: it's this is a good football team and nobody's talking
- 19:06Speaker 3: about them. So of those teams, I think Bama is
- 19:10Speaker 3: the is the least likely to bounce sober. But man,
- 19:14Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of up people. I think
- 19:16Speaker 3: this league is really good. It's significantly better than last year.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I could see all these teams getting to ten wins
- 19:25Speaker 1: to be hoes.
- 19:25Speaker 2: I mean, and it's gonna be a hard path to
- 19:27Speaker 2: do it, but I honestly think there's a chance.
- 19:31Speaker 3: If all three of them get to ten wins, then
- 19:34Speaker 3: the rest of the leagues they're gonna be a bunch
- 19:36Speaker 3: of seven and five and six and six.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Is that's the out And I think that's entirely possible. Yeah,
- 19:44Speaker 2: And so I can I can completely see that.
- 19:46Speaker 1: And so that's the reason when you start breaking it down,
- 19:49Speaker 1: and the reason no one is talking about Georgia and
- 19:52Speaker 1: the reason is for two things. And you can say
- 19:54Speaker 1: whatever you want to, but the talking points of college
- 19:57Speaker 1: football this season.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Have been archbanning.
- 20:00Speaker 1: It had been what's going on at Texas Tech University,
- 20:03Speaker 1: and that is taking the shine off of everybody else.
- 20:06Speaker 1: And and frankly, if you're those coaches, if you're Mike
- 20:10Speaker 1: Elko in your Texas A and M, you know how
- 20:12Speaker 1: much you're loving the fact that people are paying attention
- 20:14Speaker 1: to Texas Tech and you're not.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Looking at what we've got going on down.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Here that have to be And so yeah, like when
- 20:21Speaker 1: I look at A and M, if you dive into
- 20:22Speaker 1: their schedules.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Speaking and M, let's roll right on to the edge.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, if you dive into A and M,
- 20:28Speaker 1: you look at this team and here's what you got
- 20:30Speaker 1: is defensively, they're rebuilding the defensive line completely. They lost
- 20:35Speaker 1: a bunch of guys that go into the from last year.
- 20:38Speaker 1: They bring back some linebackers, They bring back some defensive
- 20:40Speaker 1: backs that are going to be pretty strong. Offensive line
- 20:42Speaker 1: should be good. You bring back Marcell Read, the quarterback
- 20:46Speaker 1: who last year. Keep in mind the problem A and
- 20:48Speaker 1: M had last year was they rolled into the season
- 20:50Speaker 1: with colra Wegman as their starting quarterback. He couldn't make it.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Then you had quarterback issues and confidence issues. The next
- 20:56Speaker 1: thing you know, Marcel reads the quarterback. But they bring
- 20:59Speaker 1: back that Beyond Moss, they bring in two tight ends
- 21:01Speaker 1: that they brought in off the portal. Both are really good.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Colin Klein the offensive coordinator, he wants to run twelve formation,
- 21:08Speaker 1: he wants to run two tight I think you're gonna
- 21:10Speaker 1: see a lot of unders protected's A and M. I
- 21:12Speaker 1: think the defense is gonna be really good. I think
- 21:15Speaker 1: they're gonna pound the ball and they're gonna hide the
- 21:17Speaker 1: fact that Marshall Reid is not a very good passer,
- 21:20Speaker 1: and they're just gonna run right at you and wear
- 21:23Speaker 1: some people down.
- 21:24Speaker 2: I think they'll do a good job doing it. Yeah.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Mark Mario Crag coming over from Missippi State was a
- 21:28Speaker 3: true freshman stud. They brought in Conception on from North
- 21:32Speaker 3: Carolina State, so they got some weapons out on the
- 21:34Speaker 3: outside and Craver's that one of those guys in the
- 21:37Speaker 3: slot and things like that. They can get open kind
- 21:40Speaker 3: of underneath. I love Moss, but let me tell you,
- 21:43Speaker 3: Ruben Owen's a guy you've probably never heard of number
- 21:45Speaker 3: one running back in the country coming out of high
- 21:47Speaker 3: school stud big time player. You get behind this offensive line,
- 21:52Speaker 3: you start running the football.
- 21:53Speaker 2: You just talked about the double tights.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I think you're gonna see a lot of ground and pound.
- 21:59Speaker 3: I think I agree with you may see some.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Low scoring ball games from the Aggies, but I think
- 22:03Speaker 2: they're gonna be in every ball game.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Aggie's have got a chance to Look. They impressed me
- 22:10Speaker 3: when they when they in the lost to Notre Dame
- 22:12Speaker 3: last year. And that sounds strange when you say that.
- 22:17Speaker 3: They go to Notre Dame and win that, and boy
- 22:21Speaker 3: is gonna get some attention. But hold on opening the
- 22:23Speaker 3: week the road Runners coming in. That's gonna be an
- 22:28Speaker 3: interesting ballgame right there. I mean that is you know,
- 22:30Speaker 3: Trailer always puts puts a good team together. That team
- 22:33Speaker 3: got so beat up last year, but they got a
- 22:36Speaker 3: lot of guys, They got a lot of experience on guys.
- 22:38Speaker 3: I think that's gonna be a pretty good football team
- 22:40Speaker 3: in the in the fund Belt. So that's gonna be
- 22:43Speaker 3: an interesting game. I think a n M and Notre
- 22:47Speaker 3: Dame is gonna be a grind fest. I mean, that's
- 22:49Speaker 3: gonna be a fabulous football game to watch and then
- 22:52Speaker 3: listen to this. So their utsa Utahs State at Notre Dame,
- 22:57Speaker 3: they win that ballgame. Off week Auburn at home, Mississippi
- 23:02Speaker 3: State at home, Florida at home at Arkansas. Those dudes
- 23:08Speaker 3: can't be seven and oh when they roll into Baton Rouge.
- 23:12Speaker 3: This team seven and oh going into Baton Rouge. Oh, buddy,
- 23:15Speaker 3: you got some It's it's all then. I mean that
- 23:18Speaker 3: is because look the rest of the schedule, they're off
- 23:20Speaker 3: week at Missouri, they get South Carolina at home Samford,
- 23:23Speaker 3: and then they're at Texas. You're not I legitimately think
- 23:28Speaker 3: the Aggies have got a chance to go ten and two.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I said the same thing last night, and the only
- 23:33Speaker 1: reason I came back after reviewal likely.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Three is very likely to me.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I mean, but this team has historically been an eight
- 23:40Speaker 1: and four kind of that's their ceiling.
- 23:42Speaker 2: It's been that eight and four they had looking. But
- 23:44Speaker 2: I think they're gonna beat Notre Dame. I really do.
- 23:47Speaker 2: I have.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I have a higher on A and M than I
- 23:49Speaker 1: have Notre Dame this season. I know Notre Dame's got
- 23:52Speaker 1: a lot of people back, and I know They had
- 23:54Speaker 1: a magical season last year. They had the ball bounce
- 23:56Speaker 1: of their way many times.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Love Marcus Freeman, couldn't yeah my son the other I'm
- 24:00Speaker 3: telling me, I stand by Marcus Freeman. If he could
- 24:03Speaker 3: go play for anybody in college football, I'd want it
- 24:05Speaker 3: to be marks three.
- 24:06Speaker 2: And we're not Catholic and I hate not of that.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Give me an lsu rundown. What Brian Kelly is? He
- 24:13Speaker 1: gonna be there at the end of the season. He's
- 24:15Speaker 1: got probably I would tell you the quarterback right now
- 24:18Speaker 1: going into next year's draft, it's a guy that's.
- 24:20Speaker 2: The most NFL ready. I love Nosmeyer. He's a gun slinger.
- 24:24Speaker 2: He's got some crazy weapons.
- 24:27Speaker 1: The biggest problem they've got is an unproven offensive line, yep,
- 24:31Speaker 1: and a defense that has been.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Garbage really for the last two or three seasons.
- 24:36Speaker 3: And I think based on this defensive line that may
- 24:38Speaker 3: be garbage again. They got to figure out how to
- 24:41Speaker 3: get Harold Perkins loose. I mean, that really is the
- 24:44Speaker 3: That really is the deal. They need Patrick Payton to
- 24:47Speaker 3: be a good player. They need him to get up,
- 24:49Speaker 3: turn it loose, you know, they need him to be good.
- 24:53Speaker 3: They gotta have Harold Perkins get loose, and they got
- 24:57Speaker 3: to get him back just going after the quarterback and
- 24:59Speaker 3: make plays. Let it make him stop thinking and just
- 25:03Speaker 3: go make plays. And they keep saying, oh, that's what
- 25:05Speaker 3: we're gonna do. Well, let's let's see you do it,
- 25:07Speaker 3: because it hadn't happened for a couple of years. And
- 25:10Speaker 3: that guy's a stud and they got to figure out
- 25:13Speaker 3: how to get that guy loose. They have upgraded Monsieur
- 25:16Speaker 3: de Layne at cornerback. Uh they are. I mean, look
- 25:21Speaker 3: he was, he was at Virginia Tech last Year's a
- 25:25Speaker 3: guy they brought in. I think they've upgraded this defensive backfield.
- 25:29Speaker 3: I like their linebackers a lot. I like the Week's kid.
- 25:33Speaker 2: I think that.
- 25:34Speaker 3: I mean, just just the damn picture of what college
- 25:37Speaker 3: football is supposed to be about is what we But
- 25:40Speaker 3: I mean, he's just tough.
- 25:42Speaker 2: I mean, it's just hard to love that kid.
- 25:43Speaker 3: But how do you win when offensive and defensive line
- 25:48Speaker 3: are your question marks in this league? I just don't
- 25:51Speaker 3: think you do, especially with a quarterback like nuss Meyer
- 25:54Speaker 3: who's sitting in the pocket. But I love their wide
- 25:56Speaker 3: receivers Barry and Brown's coming over from Kentucky.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I think they'll figure out how to use him.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Uh. I mean, look, uh, Zaidion was there. I think
- 26:05Speaker 3: their third wide receiver last year. I think he was
- 26:08Speaker 3: the third guy. He's still the third guy, you know.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I mean they're bringing in Nick Anderson from Oklahoma. I
- 26:14Speaker 3: mean they brought in a bun They brought in a
- 26:17Speaker 3: bunch of guys, and so I think they've got a
- 26:20Speaker 3: chance to I think this is you know, I think
- 26:23Speaker 3: this does.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Avion Thomas is who I was talking about. Uh.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Who was their third guy last year? And I think
- 26:28Speaker 3: he started. I think he had eight ten starts something
- 26:31Speaker 3: like that last year. So I mean he's played once.
- 26:33Speaker 3: He's not even started. So they've upgraded their wide receiver
- 26:35Speaker 3: or not projected to start. They've upgraded their wide receiver corps.
- 26:39Speaker 3: You got what is the best quarterback? I like their
- 26:42Speaker 3: I like their running backs.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Uh.
- 26:44Speaker 3: I think they're gonna be I think they're gonna be
- 26:46Speaker 3: really really good at the skills spots on offense and defense.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Can they get it done at the line of scrimmage.
- 26:51Speaker 3: That's not where you want to be questioned, That's not
- 26:53Speaker 3: where you want to be good. Mix in, they've got
- 26:55Speaker 3: a brutal schedule. I saw a ranking of schedules. I
- 26:59Speaker 3: think the Tigers were six. They open at Clemson, They're
- 27:03Speaker 3: at Florida, I mean they got Florida at home, They're
- 27:06Speaker 3: at ol Miss, South Carolina, at Vandy, A and M
- 27:10Speaker 3: at Bama, Arkansas, Western Kentucky, and then at Oklahoma. You
- 27:14Speaker 3: don't want at Oklahoma, at Alabama, at Bandy and at
- 27:18Speaker 3: old Miss to be your road games. That generally is
- 27:21Speaker 3: about Old Miss is a huge rival for them. That's
- 27:24Speaker 3: obviously Bama is a rival for him, and at Vandy
- 27:27Speaker 3: sneaky as they showed as they.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Showed him last year.
- 27:31Speaker 3: So and you hear Clark Lee talk about this team,
- 27:35Speaker 3: and I think he's really excited about this football team.
- 27:38Speaker 3: And I think they've got a great coaching staff up there.
- 27:41Speaker 3: And honestly, to think about Pavia and I don't want
- 27:43Speaker 3: to get too much into Bandy, the.
- 27:46Speaker 2: He just makes them play free. That team's kind of
- 27:48Speaker 2: taken on it.
- 27:49Speaker 3: It lets the guys be who they are, and I
- 27:52Speaker 3: think that has really helped them a lot. So I
- 27:54Speaker 3: think the Tigers have got a chance with us and
- 27:58Speaker 3: this skill set.
- 28:00Speaker 2: To be great.
- 28:02Speaker 3: I think they've also got a chance for Brian Kelly
- 28:04Speaker 3: to get fired and go seven and five, eight and four,
- 28:06Speaker 3: because I think, you guys eight and four, they're going
- 28:08Speaker 3: to fire him. I believe that, especially if he loses
- 28:10Speaker 3: to Clemson week one.
- 28:12Speaker 1: If they beat Clemson the week one, I can see
- 28:14Speaker 1: this team going on a run and being undefeated all
- 28:17Speaker 1: the way to the end game and then they finished out. Yeah,
- 28:21Speaker 1: I mean so, and I could see A and M
- 28:23Speaker 1: being undefeated going into that same spot, and so I'm
- 28:26Speaker 1: kind of cheering for that, to be honest with you,
- 28:28Speaker 1: because I.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Think that's where.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Can you imagine what that atmosphere would be like, man,
- 28:34Speaker 3: Baton Rude would be on its ear with two undefeated.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I wonder if my wife would want to go to
- 28:40Speaker 1: do that game for anniversary because nothing says love like
- 28:44Speaker 1: Sunday night, like.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Saturday night and Baturday Night, Matton Rude.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Just drunk on Nicholson, just stumbling around with strangers, You'll
- 28:54Speaker 1: and go Tigers and all kinds of.
- 28:57Speaker 3: I will say that I the one The only thing
- 29:00Speaker 3: I like about the Disney contract with the SEC is
- 29:04Speaker 3: they are playing the best game at night now instead
- 29:06Speaker 3: of two thirty at that that's six pm kickoff. Man,
- 29:11Speaker 3: You just get zeused up. I mean that really is though,
- 29:14Speaker 3: I mean, that's really is. When you get go, it's
- 29:16Speaker 3: hard to go have a good time for the weekend
- 29:18Speaker 3: at eleven am kick off, you know, two thirty, it's
- 29:21Speaker 3: still it doesn't get you quiet, and you still get
- 29:23Speaker 3: your mind right at eleven at two thirty, but man six,
- 29:27Speaker 3: every SEC stadium is a tough place to play.
- 29:30Speaker 1: That's borderline grows because the bathroom's out in the parking
- 29:34Speaker 1: lot aren't working much anymore. After that point, you know,
- 29:37Speaker 1: there's a lot going on in there. Have you read
- 29:40Speaker 1: side track before we get too far. There's an article
- 29:43Speaker 1: in the Athletic if you haven't read it yet about
- 29:45Speaker 1: how the Big ten does your schedule because their TV
- 29:49Speaker 1: contract has got three or four people involved in it, right, yeah,
- 29:52Speaker 1: and so go read it.
- 29:54Speaker 2: I'll plugging it. We don't have anything with you know, Athletic, obviously,
- 29:57Speaker 2: we don't do anybody. But it's interesting. They do it
- 29:59Speaker 2: like a dry like a Little League draft.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Where you're going through in your order every weekend and
- 30:04Speaker 1: you pick, well, no, they drafted already.
- 30:06Speaker 2: It went on the summer. They so they drafted.
- 30:08Speaker 1: They walk in with the entire schedule for the year
- 30:11Speaker 1: and then they start drafting based on their order and
- 30:14Speaker 1: rank on what they get and what games did they want,
- 30:16Speaker 1: and there's couple and there's some rules and there's some tradeouts.
- 30:19Speaker 2: But it's pretty fascinating.
- 30:20Speaker 1: And uh, the guys at Fox actually did mock drafts
- 30:24Speaker 1: so they could figure out how they were going to
- 30:25Speaker 1: build out their fall schedule because they've got obviously big
- 30:28Speaker 1: new kickoff and last year, if you know, all the
- 30:31Speaker 1: Ohio State people were bitching because they pit them in
- 30:33Speaker 1: a new that's the.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Dog issues going on around here. Man.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Well, I will tell you this Ohio State and as
- 30:40Speaker 3: much as they may hate it, and I can certainly
- 30:42Speaker 3: understand why because they got such a great fan base
- 30:44Speaker 3: that I was speaking of, zeust up, they want to go,
- 30:47Speaker 3: you know, they want to go. Get that way. My
- 30:51Speaker 3: Ohio State and the Big Ten have been playing at
- 30:53Speaker 3: eleven am. They've been playing early. I mean my whole life.
- 30:56Speaker 3: I remember that's the game you watched early.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Well, I'll do I'll do you one better. My buddy
- 31:01Speaker 1: that played it, Purdue. The reason that they've played so
- 31:04Speaker 1: many day games is because it was super cold at
- 31:07Speaker 1: night and so people wouldn't show up. And I didn't
- 31:09Speaker 1: know this ross age stadium were Purdue played didn't have
- 31:12Speaker 1: lights in it in the games, and if they got
- 31:15Speaker 1: a night game, they had the rent temporary lights that
- 31:18Speaker 1: they would post up outside the stadium so they could
- 31:20Speaker 1: put lights there.
- 31:21Speaker 2: And I was like, what on Earth, dude.
- 31:23Speaker 1: So anyway, inside the point, anyway, let's talk about this
- 31:25Speaker 1: team that I think is gonna be talk about it
- 31:27Speaker 1: LSU being fascinate.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Let's talk about Oklahoma.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Oklahoma just wrapped up their second losing season in three years.
- 31:34Speaker 1: You know why that's a big deal, Scott, because they've
- 31:36Speaker 1: only had four losing seasons.
- 31:38Speaker 2: In eighty years.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Two of them were in the nineties was Sam Blake
- 31:42Speaker 1: and the other two were World War.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Two Don Blake dismal.
- 31:50Speaker 1: So anyway, if you're looking at this Oklahoma team, uh,
- 31:53Speaker 1: you bring in Brint Vinibles to fix the defense, and
- 31:55Speaker 1: he's fixed the defense, and he's let it be known
- 31:57Speaker 1: that he took over one of the worst defenses in
- 31:59Speaker 1: the country and that's who Oklahoma was over the last
- 32:03Speaker 1: couple of few years. And he's really turned this defense around.
- 32:06Speaker 1: It's been a top twenty fifteen unit the last couple
- 32:08Speaker 1: of years. Last year they really leaned on this defense.
- 32:12Speaker 1: The last year to the issue was is they went
- 32:14Speaker 1: from having a team that had a Joe Ward's nominated
- 32:19Speaker 1: an offensive line two years ago to last year they
- 32:22Speaker 1: had all new guys and it was a train wreck,
- 32:25Speaker 1: and then you had to switch quarterbacks because Arnold wasn't healthy.
- 32:29Speaker 1: They lost every starting wide receiver. I had forgotten about this.
- 32:34Speaker 1: They every starting wide receiver and their tight end they
- 32:37Speaker 1: lost at certain points during the season. If you go
- 32:39Speaker 1: look at their depth chart from last year to start
- 32:42Speaker 1: the season and you go through the whole thing, those
- 32:44Speaker 1: guys in their starting two d are their starting depth
- 32:47Speaker 1: chart for week one. They only played like forty five
- 32:50Speaker 1: snaps together all season long. And so not only was
- 32:53Speaker 1: Arnold's handicapped from a bad offensive line, but then the
- 32:56Speaker 1: fact that all the skill position players that they had
- 32:58Speaker 1: were hurt.
- 33:00Speaker 2: So it was just a hodgepodge of what they can
- 33:02Speaker 2: get it done.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Obviously, their signature win was being the Alabama State champs
- 33:06Speaker 1: because they beat both Auburn and Alabama last season. But
- 33:10Speaker 1: this is a big season for these guys because I
- 33:12Speaker 1: think this is the one that Venables has to win
- 33:14Speaker 1: or he's probably gonna lose his job. He brings in
- 33:16Speaker 1: Ma Tier from Washington State. We've talked about that a
- 33:19Speaker 1: little bit, but then they also bring an Arbuckle, the
- 33:21Speaker 1: offensive coordinator, to take over. If you don't know who
- 33:24Speaker 1: this guy is, he's the Houston Christian coach that brought
- 33:28Speaker 1: Bailey Zafy to Western Kentucky who turned him into being
- 33:32Speaker 1: I think that he won the area, ended up passing
- 33:34Speaker 1: up Joe Burrows record somebody's record for the most te
- 33:37Speaker 1: passes of all time in one season. Then he goes
- 33:40Speaker 1: back to Washington State. He ends up coaching cam Ward
- 33:44Speaker 1: for years, who then turns out to go to Miami
- 33:46Speaker 1: and gets drafted. He gets Materi out there at Washington State.
- 33:49Speaker 1: They're fun to watch. He's got all kinds of different
- 33:52Speaker 1: things that he does with the offense, but he makes
- 33:54Speaker 1: it fun and exciting. This defense, I think is in
- 33:57Speaker 1: a little bit of a rebuild, but it's still really
- 34:00Speaker 1: really solid and I trustibles in this. I like Oklahoma
- 34:04Speaker 1: as a team. I'm hoping we can catch this team
- 34:06Speaker 1: and get some points in some games because I think
- 34:08Speaker 1: they're gonna be I think this is a surprise team
- 34:10Speaker 1: that could make a run it win in.
- 34:11Speaker 2: The SEC Championship.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Man this schedule for Oklahoma is absolutely. I mean, and
- 34:20Speaker 3: look there's that. You can say that a lot. But
- 34:24Speaker 3: they got Michigan in the non conference. They're at Temple.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Who in the hell I mean, Cassie only year, whatever
- 34:35Speaker 3: his name is, that this group.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Up to Temple. I mean, that just doesn't make any sense.
- 34:44Speaker 3: I hope you got a four for one, but they're
- 34:49Speaker 3: road games.
- 34:49Speaker 2: I was got Texas at a neutral site.
- 34:51Speaker 3: They're at South Carolina, at Tennessee, at Alabama is there
- 34:56Speaker 3: and so, which means the Texas game would would really
- 34:59Speaker 3: be a game. So that means these boys get eight
- 35:03Speaker 3: home games. They'd have nine if they're playing Temple at home.
- 35:06Speaker 3: You know, this is a really but man, it's the
- 35:10Speaker 3: type of teams are playing. They got LSU at home,
- 35:13Speaker 3: they got Old miss at home. You know, they got
- 35:17Speaker 3: Auburn at home. They got Michigan at home. Man, that's
- 35:19Speaker 3: really tough games. They got Missouri at home, at Alabama,
- 35:24Speaker 3: at Tennessee, at South Carolina.
- 35:26Speaker 2: As I said, this is a tough schedule.
- 35:28Speaker 3: But I think this Sooners team is one of those
- 35:33Speaker 3: teams that can bounce forward. Of the three, I like
- 35:37Speaker 3: the roster the best of the three in the middle.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I like the roster the best at A and M.
- 35:44Speaker 3: But I like Oklahoma's second so I like that.
- 35:49Speaker 2: A and M schedule a little better. I feel like
- 35:51Speaker 2: they can jump up.
- 35:52Speaker 3: But I think Oklahoma's got a chance to And the
- 35:56Speaker 3: reality of this deal is can they can they be
- 36:01Speaker 3: Alabama State champs again? Because if they win and Tennessee
- 36:06Speaker 3: is certainly a winnable game on the road, even though
- 36:08Speaker 3: they lost that game last year, that's a winnable game
- 36:12Speaker 3: on the road. So I just in South Carolina, I
- 36:16Speaker 3: think it's a winnable game on the road. They've got
- 36:18Speaker 3: a chance.
- 36:19Speaker 2: To make some hay.
- 36:20Speaker 3: They've also got a chance to be seven and five
- 36:22Speaker 3: Invenables be looking for a job. So this is a
- 36:25Speaker 3: fascinating team. That Michigan game Week two, Holy Smokes, is
- 36:32Speaker 3: a big game for both of these head coaches.
- 36:35Speaker 2: I'm now a huge.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Game for both of these head coaches. Can't wait to
- 36:39Speaker 3: watch that game. Think Oklahoma will win it because I
- 36:42Speaker 3: think Materier is a good player, but he showed out
- 36:44Speaker 3: at the Manning camp, so everybody talking about Materier still
- 36:48Speaker 3: got the same offensive coordinator. My guess is as Venables
- 36:52Speaker 3: is going to get out of the way and let
- 36:53Speaker 3: them go do their thing. Going to be an exciting
- 36:55Speaker 3: team to watch this year because we covered the top
- 36:59Speaker 3: tier and then the next tier of SEC teams I
- 37:01Speaker 3: think is really really good, and and then the top
- 37:05Speaker 3: team is the top three are great.
- 37:07Speaker 2: I think the.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Next three, with a little bit of luck, can be
- 37:10Speaker 3: really good. And then we'll talk what is the biggest
- 37:13Speaker 3: piece of the pie next in the conference, which will
- 37:16Speaker 3: be Old Miss Tennessee, Missouri the benefit. You know that
- 37:20Speaker 3: this is a pretty big group of the Auburns, the Floridas.
- 37:24Speaker 3: This is all of those teams to me, are together.
- 37:27Speaker 3: A couple of them are gonna jump up, which means
- 37:29Speaker 3: a couple of these teams that are in that next
- 37:31Speaker 3: tier are gonna drop down because I don't think any of.
- 37:34Speaker 2: The top three are going to really fall very far. Now.
- 37:37Speaker 1: I agree, I think Tennessee is going to take a
- 37:40Speaker 1: step back. I think losing Nico Malaba.
- 37:43Speaker 2: Is a big deal. Uh. They've got a lot of
- 37:45Speaker 2: pieces on that team that they need to rebuild. Uh,
- 37:49Speaker 2: a lot of guys, a lot of guys.
- 37:51Speaker 1: And I'll let you run and have you want to
- 37:53Speaker 1: go deep, Old Miss. I have a lot of faith
- 37:56Speaker 1: and Lane, I bet they go eight four.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Austin Simmons. I think they're gonna be a good but
- 38:01Speaker 3: I think that kid's really good. I'm gonna tell you
- 38:04Speaker 3: two things that I like about Austin Simmons, and both
- 38:08Speaker 3: evolve around the Georgia game. First, he comes in. Two
- 38:15Speaker 3: things about that touchdown drive that kid put together, because
- 38:18Speaker 3: ultimately that's what won them that ball game. That scoring drive.
- 38:23Speaker 3: It tells you how much confidence Lane Kiffin had in
- 38:26Speaker 3: that kid. That it wasn't three hand doson punt that
- 38:29Speaker 3: we're worried about this kid making a mistake. That tells
- 38:33Speaker 3: you a ton about the kid. This kid's already graduated.
- 38:37Speaker 3: This is his third year. On can ain't like his
- 38:39Speaker 3: kid's been here four years. I mean, the kid's a
- 38:42Speaker 3: redshirt sophomore and he's already a graduate. That tells you
- 38:47Speaker 3: the kids a very cerebral kid. And then you combine
- 38:51Speaker 3: that that means he's doing all the work right in
- 38:53Speaker 3: practice for Kiffin to have that kind of confidence in
- 38:56Speaker 3: he and then I'll give a shit about how prepared
- 38:59Speaker 3: you are and how hard you work. You got to
- 39:01Speaker 3: have some moxie as a redshirt freshman to go out
- 39:04Speaker 3: there and play. What is the best one of the
- 39:05Speaker 3: best teams in the country, and I don't care if
- 39:07Speaker 3: you're at home and go lead a touchdown drive and
- 39:10Speaker 3: your first meaningful snaps as a player. You got the
- 39:13Speaker 3: moxie factor too. I like Austin Simmons. I think that
- 39:17Speaker 3: may be the difference for them. And that is all
- 39:19Speaker 3: based on one drive. So does that Does that make
- 39:22Speaker 3: him a great player?
- 39:23Speaker 2: Hack?
- 39:23Speaker 3: No, but boy, it tells you he's got a lot
- 39:26Speaker 3: of the pieces to be in place. They also took
- 39:28Speaker 3: that kid to media days, and I know that pretty
- 39:31Speaker 3: much everybody brings their quarterback, but you don't have to
- 39:33Speaker 3: as a sophomore. I think it tells you a lot
- 39:36Speaker 3: about Kiffin and that kid speaks the right language. I
- 39:39Speaker 3: think he I think he says all the right things.
- 39:41Speaker 3: This kid looks like he's got his head on straight.
- 39:44Speaker 3: I think he's a kidd. He and Kiffin go to
- 39:46Speaker 3: yoga togain.
- 39:49Speaker 2: I mean, the last thing you want is Kiffin having
- 39:53Speaker 2: a quarterback that's he's got a really good relationship with,
- 39:57Speaker 2: because those are the kids well, I mean you look
- 40:00Speaker 2: at Dark.
- 40:00Speaker 3: He and Dark got close when the quarterback what was
- 40:04Speaker 3: the kid's name, On's Carolina. That's kind of the gun Slinger.
- 40:08Speaker 3: You know, it wasn't a real heady kid, but he
- 40:10Speaker 3: calmed him down.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Matt Carrall, Yeah, Corrall.
- 40:14Speaker 3: He got corral calmed down and got really close to
- 40:16Speaker 3: him his last year and that's the reason that kid
- 40:18Speaker 3: took a big step forward. And I think you've got
- 40:22Speaker 3: Simmons here as a young kid who's really bought in,
- 40:25Speaker 3: and I think they've got a chance to be good.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Plus the schedules outstanding for the Rebels. Three uels in
- 40:32Speaker 3: the league, and I say best meaning the weakest are
- 40:36Speaker 3: Ole Miss, Tennessee and Missouri. Forty seven for Tennessee, forty
- 40:41Speaker 3: eight for Ole Miss, and fifty for Missou.
- 40:44Speaker 2: You can't get any better than that. I mean, that's
- 40:48Speaker 2: the truth they got.
- 40:49Speaker 3: They open at Georgia State, They're at Kentucky, Arkansas, Tulane,
- 40:54Speaker 3: and then LSU at home off week Washington State, and
- 40:58Speaker 3: then then they start playing somebody decent. Are you kidding
- 41:02Speaker 3: me that the Rebels are going to be bawl eligible
- 41:05Speaker 3: before they play anybody, and really before they go on
- 41:10Speaker 3: the road.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Because I don't count.
- 41:11Speaker 3: I mean, Kentucky's a tough place to play, but Ole
- 41:13Speaker 3: Miss should win this ball game, especially after the way
- 41:16Speaker 3: they gagged it last year. I think they go up
- 41:18Speaker 3: there with a little pissed off on and when that
- 41:21Speaker 3: they're at Georgia and at Oklahoma.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Rebels find a way to win one of those their
- 41:25Speaker 2: playoff team. That's my honest opinion.
- 41:28Speaker 3: And I don't think this team has got a playoff roster,
- 41:30Speaker 3: but I do think that there. I do think this
- 41:33Speaker 3: is a good I do think this is a good
- 41:34Speaker 3: foot a good football team. Centering Perkins maybe the most
- 41:40Speaker 3: impactful defensive guy in the Southeastern Conference. He's what everybody
- 41:44Speaker 3: talks about Harold Perkins beating and know they're not related.
- 41:48Speaker 3: Perkins goes out and makes plays and makes them at
- 41:51Speaker 3: key times.
- 41:53Speaker 2: When they send him from that.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Jack linebacker, he gets there or he causes havo when
- 41:58Speaker 3: he if he doesn't get there. Kid's a good player,
- 42:01Speaker 3: really good guy. But I'm gonna tell you something, this
- 42:04Speaker 3: Old Miss team. They bring in so many guys every year.
- 42:08Speaker 3: I mean, look, wide receiver, this is a whole new crew.
- 42:11Speaker 3: I don't think they're quite as good as they are.
- 42:15Speaker 3: I say all this to say I think the Rebels
- 42:17Speaker 3: are gonna be an eight and four football team. But
- 42:19Speaker 3: I like Austin Simmons, I think to the player, I
- 42:23Speaker 3: do think they've had to fill so many guys in.
- 42:26Speaker 2: I do think they may lose to LSU at home.
- 42:29Speaker 3: I think they probably lose at Georgia and at Oklahoma,
- 42:33Speaker 3: and then you know South Carolina Florida, and yes, I'm
- 42:36Speaker 3: gonna say Missippi STATEA is the rivalry. Hell, they almost
- 42:39Speaker 3: lost that game last year and they have no business
- 42:41Speaker 3: doing it this time. They got to go to Startville.
- 42:42Speaker 3: They you can always lose that game. I think this
- 42:45Speaker 3: team is a seventy five to nine and three.
- 42:49Speaker 2: I think they fall at eight and four. That's what
- 42:51Speaker 2: I think. If Kelly gets fired, does LSU call Lane Kiffin?
- 42:56Speaker 3: If I think if Kelly or Venables gets fired, called
- 43:00Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin. And I'm gonna tell you something.
- 43:02Speaker 2: He's got to be.
- 43:05Speaker 3: It's got to look, I know old miss pay and
- 43:08Speaker 3: he's winning games that ain't LSU and it ain't Oklahoma.
- 43:13Speaker 3: It's got to be driving his ass nuts watching Sarkisian
- 43:16Speaker 3: doing what he's doing at Texas, and he's got to
- 43:18Speaker 3: be thinking, damn it, if I can get one of
- 43:20Speaker 3: these jobs. I'm gonna wear him out because I do
- 43:23Speaker 3: think I do think he's a better coach. I do
- 43:25Speaker 3: think he's a better offensive mind than Sarkisian, I really do.
- 43:28Speaker 1: And but his defense is that he's been putting on
- 43:32Speaker 1: the field that old miss is what's been completely overlooked.
- 43:35Speaker 1: I mean you and have been playing ole Miss overs
- 43:37Speaker 1: for two seats and say that's the first number I
- 43:40Speaker 1: look at every week and.
- 43:40Speaker 2: People are like, oh, you know, they think of offense.
- 43:43Speaker 2: But he's done a hell of a job there.
- 43:45Speaker 1: And you know, this off season coming out about his sobriety,
- 43:49Speaker 1: you know, kind of himself.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, rebuilt himself. He was great on THEO
- 43:54Speaker 2: Vaughn talking about it.
- 43:55Speaker 1: And so you can tell the guys, I mean sounds
- 43:58Speaker 1: crazy to say, man, that's he's really looked inside himself
- 44:03Speaker 1: and matured. And I think you've seen that product on
- 44:06Speaker 1: the field the last couple of years. I think that's
- 44:08Speaker 1: the reason those quarterbacks have drawn to him so much
- 44:11Speaker 1: and they've been so good because he made Jackson darn
- 44:15Speaker 1: Way better than when he showed up.
- 44:16Speaker 2: On no doubt about it.
- 44:18Speaker 3: In Corral too. He made Corral a much better player.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Look here here's the thing on Kiffin. I think he
- 44:23Speaker 3: absolutely gets a call because look, there's three jobs four
- 44:26Speaker 3: jobs in this conference that may be open. Florida, Auburn, LSU,
- 44:31Speaker 3: and Oklahoma all have the potential to be open. I
- 44:35Speaker 3: think all four of them are idiots if they don't
- 44:37Speaker 3: call Kiffin. And I also think what would scare me
- 44:41Speaker 3: as an old miss fan? And they're not gonna say
- 44:43Speaker 3: he loves Oxford. Oxford is a good place. Yeah, I'm
- 44:46Speaker 3: sure he does love Oxford. I love you, but you're
- 44:49Speaker 3: not any of those jobs I just named. And that
- 44:53Speaker 3: in Missippi State hating on you, that's reality. And Oklahoma
- 44:59Speaker 3: is a Marquie job. And if they come calling, I
- 45:04Speaker 3: don't think there's any way he's not gone.
- 45:06Speaker 2: And I mean the stame is probably true for Florida.
- 45:09Speaker 3: Because let me tell you something, there about could be
- 45:11Speaker 3: some upheople in the state of Florida. Mike Norvell, don't
- 45:14Speaker 3: when Florida State's gone. Hell, Florida State may come calling,
- 45:18Speaker 3: you know, so I think, and look, how long is
- 45:22Speaker 3: the road for Crystal Ball.
- 45:24Speaker 2: I mean, you can't lose.
- 45:25Speaker 3: I mean he literally had the number one quarterback in
- 45:28Speaker 3: the NFL Draft and found a way to lose to
- 45:30Speaker 3: Syracuse and Georgia Tech two out of three weeks.
- 45:34Speaker 2: We'll get to it.
- 45:36Speaker 4: We talked to acc he is the and I've said
- 45:39Speaker 4: this countless times, he's the worst any game coach, no
- 45:46Speaker 4: power football.
- 45:48Speaker 2: He was in Oregon. But it's not about it. He's terrible,
- 45:52Speaker 2: no doubt about it.
- 45:53Speaker 3: So I say all that say, if I'm the Rebels,
- 45:55Speaker 3: I think you look at some of the changes that
- 45:59Speaker 3: lanes May. I don't think there's any doubt he hadn't been.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Why am I not getting some of these jobs? Why
- 46:05Speaker 3: why is Steve Sarkisian getting the Texas job? And I'm
- 46:07Speaker 3: not what what? What's the deal? And I think some
- 46:11Speaker 3: of it is changing. There are boosters out there. You
- 46:14Speaker 3: can say, look, you can get away with a lot.
- 46:15Speaker 3: I think that's true. Dayton co Ed's ain't one of them.
- 46:19Speaker 3: You know, there's a lot of dudes that Wright checks
- 46:21Speaker 3: that aren't gonna that are gonna frown on that. And
- 46:23Speaker 3: at the Marquis job, I don't know if the ad
- 46:25Speaker 3: wants to get tied to something like that. He's man,
- 46:28Speaker 3: he's made a lot of changes to himself and what he's.
- 46:32Speaker 2: Done is just grown up. And look, man, don't forget.
- 46:35Speaker 3: And I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm not telling you that
- 46:39Speaker 3: I wouldn't have done the same thing. And Lane Kiffin
- 46:41Speaker 3: got to be the head coach of the Raiders at
- 46:43Speaker 3: what thirty two? Yeah, I mean he know that the
- 46:47Speaker 3: guy's ego for risky. Is that really hard to believe?
- 46:51Speaker 2: Heck?
- 46:52Speaker 3: No, I mean do I think that? And then he
- 46:55Speaker 3: went to and look at the college jobs, he said.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Mark usc and old Miss.
- 47:03Speaker 3: Yeah, you may get over inflated value of yourself, you know.
- 47:06Speaker 3: I mean, the dude's still not fifty, is he? I mean,
- 47:11Speaker 3: I think it's I mean just incredible.
- 47:13Speaker 2: You know.
- 47:14Speaker 3: So I think a lot of these changes are natural,
- 47:17Speaker 3: and I think, but I also think they may lead
- 47:20Speaker 3: to him getting a job. And if I were an
- 47:22Speaker 3: old Miss fan, that would concern me because it's gonna
- 47:25Speaker 3: just make him that much more attractive as he's now
- 47:29Speaker 3: a stable, you know, adult, you know, basically, And I
- 47:34Speaker 3: don't mean that as and I really that sounds like
- 47:36Speaker 3: a shot at Kivin and I don't mean that. And
- 47:38Speaker 3: that's why I say, I'm telling you that my I
- 47:40Speaker 3: might have behaved the exact same way, So it's not
- 47:42Speaker 3: a shot at him. You know, the guy's had so
- 47:44Speaker 3: much success and had so much thrown at him at
- 47:48Speaker 3: a young age that I think a lot of people
- 47:50Speaker 3: would have made a lot of the same mistakes that
- 47:53Speaker 3: he's made, and I think him realizing it making it
- 47:56Speaker 3: changes is what is going to make him a dangerous
- 47:59Speaker 3: aid coach. And I think it's why some big school's
- 48:02Speaker 3: gonna come get him now that they didn't, I guess
- 48:04Speaker 3: would be the right way to say that.
- 48:06Speaker 2: I want to jump over to South Carolina for a second. Uh.
- 48:09Speaker 2: This year, this team caught a lot of hyphe last
- 48:11Speaker 2: year they won out their season after finishing with one
- 48:14Speaker 2: to two three.
- 48:15Speaker 1: They won six and seven games in a row, including
- 48:17Speaker 1: a victory over in state rival Clemson.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Uh, you're gonna hear a lot of talk about little
- 48:22Speaker 2: wrest sellers. He's a freak. The wide receiver that they've
- 48:25Speaker 2: got out there. Uh. Nick Harbor, that's Nick with a why.
- 48:28Speaker 1: By the way, he's a freak, got six five, two
- 48:31Speaker 1: thirty five, got a lot of DK metcalf feel to him.
- 48:34Speaker 1: As far as straight line speed, he actually qualified or
- 48:37Speaker 1: was asked to come to the Olympic trials. They went
- 48:39Speaker 1: up like a ten to two hundred.
- 48:40Speaker 2: Uh.
- 48:41Speaker 1: And then on the on the defensive side, Dylan Stewart,
- 48:45Speaker 1: he's gonna be a first round draft pick. Here's my thing, man,
- 48:48Speaker 1: I think this team is completely overblown and how good.
- 48:52Speaker 2: That they are. And so let me tell you how
- 48:54Speaker 2: I'm gonna bet the squad.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Like if you look at their opening, they've got Virginia Techs,
- 48:58Speaker 1: Carons State, Vanny Missook. They can win every single one
- 49:01Speaker 1: of those things, and I think they probably will.
- 49:04Speaker 2: For the Battle of Colombia is always kind of a
- 49:06Speaker 2: weird one for him. But I think I think they
- 49:08Speaker 2: take care of business.
- 49:09Speaker 5: They get into the next part of that schedule after
- 49:11Speaker 5: that buy and they're gonna go on the Skins L
- 49:15Speaker 5: s U, O, Ubama, Old Miss, and A and M.
- 49:17Speaker 2: And then they finish up with Clemson.
- 49:20Speaker 1: This team, their offensive line was terrible last year. Sellers
- 49:24Speaker 1: kind of overcame it because he's such a big athlete,
- 49:27Speaker 1: I mean, Cam Newton big. They actually brought in a
- 49:29Speaker 1: coach that worked with Newton to help him.
- 49:33Speaker 2: She's got the tools. But I just don't know, like
- 49:36Speaker 2: how good this team is. It's really around him. But
- 49:39Speaker 2: where I really.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Want to go to is the fact that they had
- 49:41Speaker 1: five guys off of their defensive front seven that went
- 49:45Speaker 1: to the NFL. They were drafted I think all of
- 49:47Speaker 1: them are drafted, and so you don't lose that amount
- 49:51Speaker 1: of talent at a school like South Carolina and just
- 49:54Speaker 1: assume it's next guy up. You know, that's A that's
- 49:56Speaker 1: A that's a Georgia, Alabama. You know those types of school.
- 50:01Speaker 1: You know, Ohio State can redo those things, not South Carolina.
- 50:05Speaker 1: I think South Carolina takes a step back. He was
- 50:08Speaker 1: ninety four last year. Where I look to fag them
- 50:11Speaker 1: is after they go through that first run of the season.
- 50:13Speaker 2: I think they'll probably cover some of those games.
- 50:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna watch it closely, and then I think they're
- 50:17Speaker 1: gonna hit the skids hard coming into the second half
- 50:20Speaker 1: of the season and fall off in this spot. I
- 50:22Speaker 1: just don't think Sellers can be Superman again now that
- 50:27Speaker 1: they've got a year tape on it.
- 50:30Speaker 3: On the defensive lines of stud but after that you
- 50:32Speaker 3: got total unknowns. And what they're doing is bringing in
- 50:35Speaker 3: you know, their dts are coming over from Alabama and
- 50:38Speaker 3: A and M, but have never played I mean very
- 50:40Speaker 3: minimal snaps. You don't know what you're getting there at all.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Uh So it's gonna be it's gonna be interesting to
- 50:48Speaker 3: see what they get.
- 50:49Speaker 2: You start digging in the depth charts.
- 50:51Speaker 3: You got guys two years at Campbell, you know stuff
- 50:54Speaker 3: like that. Yeah, I agree with you. They're gonna they're
- 50:56Speaker 3: gonna struggle up front. I don't think there's any way
- 50:59Speaker 3: to teams as good defensively this year as they were
- 51:03Speaker 3: last year.
- 51:03Speaker 2: And I think that's the difference. Sellers is a stud.
- 51:07Speaker 3: But man, we have seen it time and time and
- 51:10Speaker 3: time again. They get you get film on freshman quarterbacks.
- 51:15Speaker 3: You know what they do well, they study it all
- 51:17Speaker 3: year long. They're playing the exact same eight SEC teams
- 51:21Speaker 3: they played last year.
- 51:22Speaker 2: The coaches are going to figure out how to stop
- 51:24Speaker 2: this guy. And he's a sophomore.
- 51:26Speaker 3: And we've seen quarterbacks repeatedly as they start to open
- 51:29Speaker 3: the playbook up take a step back as a sophomore quarterback.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Do I think Sellers is a beast? One hundred percent?
- 51:37Speaker 3: Do I think that probably all but a handful of
- 51:41Speaker 3: teams in America would take Leonora Sellers as their quarterback
- 51:44Speaker 3: one hundred percent.
- 51:46Speaker 2: Not a shot at Sellers at all.
- 51:47Speaker 3: But this defense isn't going to be as good, and
- 51:49Speaker 3: I agree with you, he's gonna have to be superman
- 51:52Speaker 3: in some of these spots. To be as good as
- 51:56Speaker 3: they were. I mean, they're bringing in wide receivers from
- 51:58Speaker 3: Georgia State. You know, they're talking about a wide receiver
- 52:01Speaker 3: being a starter. That that is is is coming in
- 52:07Speaker 3: on the transfer portal. Uh, they're bringing in guys from Troy.
- 52:12Speaker 3: That's gonna be you know that that's gonna be a
- 52:14Speaker 3: big difference. I mean, you're you're you're talking, you know,
- 52:18Speaker 3: just a few catches from the guy coming in from Troy,
- 52:21Speaker 3: they're talking about him being a starter. Uh, that that's
- 52:24Speaker 3: kind of what you know, that's kind of where.
- 52:25Speaker 2: We're at that they were over. They're having to rework.
- 52:30Speaker 3: They're having to rework that offensive line, centers coming over
- 52:33Speaker 3: from Troy. There's a lot of different things that play
- 52:35Speaker 3: on this On this South Carolina football team. I think
- 52:40Speaker 3: they've got a chance to be really good. But man,
- 52:43Speaker 3: they won and lost some close games last year. How
- 52:46Speaker 3: does that affect what they do? I think it's Virginia
- 52:49Speaker 3: Tech game's gigantic. I'm gonna tell you, I'm probably gonna
- 52:52Speaker 3: bet on South Carolina that first week because I'm a
- 52:55Speaker 3: little down on Virginia Tech. It just feels like they
- 52:58Speaker 3: lost a lot of like they lost a lot of
- 53:00Speaker 3: eyes and a team that's supposed to be on the
- 53:02Speaker 3: upswing shouldn't be losing that many guys. And then they
- 53:06Speaker 3: get bandy. Week two, they're at Missouri and then Kentucky.
- 53:10Speaker 3: They better make hay Buddy, they better make a because
- 53:14Speaker 3: it starts in October. That October schedule, I don't think
- 53:17Speaker 3: anybody in America wants to play at LSU Oklahoma and
- 53:21Speaker 3: Alabama and home and at Ole Miss. I don't think
- 53:23Speaker 3: anybody wants any of that. Oh, then they get an
- 53:25Speaker 3: off week in November and go to A and M.
- 53:27Speaker 3: It's a tough stretch. It's a really tough stretch. So
- 53:30Speaker 3: and Coastal Carolina is not gonna be a sleeper after
- 53:33Speaker 3: that A and M and before Clemson. So I mean,
- 53:35Speaker 3: that's you know, you can't go to sleep in that
- 53:37Speaker 3: ballgame or you can lose that game. So this is
- 53:40Speaker 3: a tougher schedule than I think people think for South Carolina.
- 53:46Speaker 3: So it is one of the reasons I think they
- 53:49Speaker 3: fall middle of the pick. I don't I just don't
- 53:53Speaker 3: think this is I just don't think this is gonna
- 53:56Speaker 3: be a team that's as good as it was last year.
- 53:58Speaker 2: I think this is six and six, seven and five
- 54:00Speaker 2: football team. Let's talk about the Auburn Tigers. Down the
- 54:04Speaker 2: plane that you've got here.
- 54:05Speaker 1: This team has a losing record last four seasons in
- 54:08Speaker 1: a row. And you know, we like to think of
- 54:10Speaker 1: Auburn as this nationally relevant team because they've played for
- 54:13Speaker 1: the national championship, they've won the national championship. The reality
- 54:17Speaker 1: since two thousand or since twenty twenty, this team.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Is barely above one.
- 54:21Speaker 1: I mean, they've got a losing record after finishing twenty
- 54:24Speaker 1: twenty just six and five.
- 54:26Speaker 2: And so when you start digging into this roster. We
- 54:28Speaker 2: talked about this last season with this that we thought
- 54:31Speaker 2: that we thought Hugh.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Freeze was like waiting to see what he could put
- 54:34Speaker 1: together before he would go out and spend some money.
- 54:36Speaker 2: He went and got himself a quarterback. They've added some
- 54:38Speaker 2: key positions to this roster. I'm not as high.
- 54:41Speaker 1: On this team as you are. Personally, I'm going to
- 54:44Speaker 1: fade this team. I think first five weeks of the season,
- 54:47Speaker 1: I think this team could easily go two and three.
- 54:50Speaker 2: They got Falure Friday night.
- 54:51Speaker 1: They wrap up the month with the trips to Oklahoma
- 54:54Speaker 1: and trips to Texas, A and M. Their schedule gets
- 54:57Speaker 1: much easier after that. But it's how much confidence you're
- 55:00Speaker 1: gonna have if you come through there two and three,
- 55:02Speaker 1: maybe even three two. I there's a lot of unknowns
- 55:06Speaker 1: on this Auburn roster, and I'm just not one hundred
- 55:10Speaker 1: percent convinced that it can turn the dial and do it.
- 55:12Speaker 2: I know you're on the other page for me to this,
- 55:14Speaker 2: but I'm fading. I'm under I think.
- 55:17Speaker 3: I think if Jackson Arnold is remotely as good as advertised, uh,
- 55:22Speaker 3: then I think they've got a chance to be really good.
- 55:25Speaker 3: I love the addition of Singleton a wide receiver, because
- 55:30Speaker 3: you have you have Coleman and Simmons who are already
- 55:33Speaker 3: good players, and I think they just simply didn't have
- 55:35Speaker 3: anybody that could throw them the football, and and Simmons
- 55:39Speaker 3: was outstanding as a true freshman last year. This then
- 55:42Speaker 3: everybody could get them the football. I like Arnold here,
- 55:46Speaker 3: I like the running back Austin. I think he's a
- 55:48Speaker 3: pretty good player as well.
- 55:50Speaker 2: Uh.
- 55:50Speaker 3: I think they've got a chance to to really to
- 55:53Speaker 3: really do some good things. This team is only gonna
- 55:55Speaker 3: be as good as its defense, and that defense has
- 55:59Speaker 3: kept them in ball games for the If that defense
- 56:02Speaker 3: is remotely as good as it is as it's been.
- 56:05Speaker 3: I think this is a team of this group who's
- 56:08Speaker 3: got a chance to shoot forward. And talking about talking
- 56:12Speaker 3: about schedules at Baylor, at your Baylor Bears opening the
- 56:16Speaker 3: weekend Marquee game, for this football team got to figure
- 56:20Speaker 3: out how to win it. They have to figure out
- 56:22Speaker 3: how to win this ball game. I don't think that's
- 56:24Speaker 3: the case for Baylor. I think Baylor can lose this
- 56:26Speaker 3: game and still potentially get in the playoff. I think
- 56:31Speaker 3: they got to win this game because those two road
- 56:36Speaker 3: games in September back to back are brutal games at
- 56:40Speaker 3: Oklahoma and at A and M. We both talked about
- 56:43Speaker 3: we think they're going to be much improved football teams.
- 56:46Speaker 3: They lose both of those off week and get Georgia.
- 56:53Speaker 3: If that football team is two and four after the
- 56:56Speaker 3: Georgia game, Hugh Freeze is probably not the football US.
- 57:01Speaker 3: I don't know what I'm trying to, you know, And
- 57:03Speaker 3: I don't think he's got to figure out how to
- 57:05Speaker 3: win this Baylor game.
- 57:06Speaker 2: And then they got to figure out how to.
- 57:07Speaker 3: Win one of those two road games, because I don't
- 57:10Speaker 3: think they're gonna beat Georgia at home, even though that
- 57:12Speaker 3: is a rivalry and a huge game. Then they got
- 57:15Speaker 3: Missou at home, and then they're at chedle is not
- 57:19Speaker 3: that bad until you get till you get to Obama.
- 57:21Speaker 2: That's exactly right.
- 57:22Speaker 3: So but this team, I think for Hugh Freeze to
- 57:25Speaker 3: keep his job, has got to go eight and four,
- 57:29Speaker 3: maybe seven and five. They might keep him. If he
- 57:31Speaker 3: can go seven and five, I doubt it. I think
- 57:33Speaker 3: it's eight and four. I think he's gotta be an
- 57:36Speaker 3: eight and for football coach uh to keep his job.
- 57:39Speaker 3: And I think that really kind of gets into they
- 57:42Speaker 3: gotta beat Baylor to get there to get eight and four,
- 57:45Speaker 3: because I don't think they're gonna win out Oklahoma or
- 57:47Speaker 3: A and M. I don't think they're gonna beat Bama.
- 57:49Speaker 3: And I think they lose to Georgia at home. I
- 57:52Speaker 3: think that's their best case scenario. They lose to Baylor
- 57:54Speaker 3: to start in their seven and five football team, and
- 57:56Speaker 3: it may fall apart on them because Missouri is not
- 57:59Speaker 3: gonna be well. Let me rephrase, we'll get to the
- 58:01Speaker 3: Tigers in just a second. At is a wild card team.
- 58:05Speaker 3: I mean they're like, that's like a wild card joker.
- 58:08Speaker 3: You don't know what the hell you're gonna get from
- 58:10Speaker 3: those guys.
- 58:11Speaker 1: Well, I think I think Missouri and Tennessee are both
- 58:14Speaker 1: two teams that I have gone back and forth on
- 58:16Speaker 1: that I don't really know what we're gonna get from
- 58:19Speaker 1: either one of these teams.
- 58:23Speaker 3: Schedules, they play the two of the three easiest schedules
- 58:26Speaker 3: in the league. I mean, I feel like Old missus
- 58:30Speaker 3: better position of those three teams to to to maximize
- 58:34Speaker 3: that schedule.
- 58:35Speaker 2: But man, Miszoo, holy smokes, this schedule is a gift.
- 58:40Speaker 3: I mean, so that is that's one of the reasons
- 58:44Speaker 3: that I think this team's got a chance to really
- 58:48Speaker 3: make some hay. But you look at a lot of
- 58:50Speaker 3: people and there's just so many moving parts to this team.
- 58:55Speaker 3: Are they going to get the same quarterback play? I mean,
- 58:58Speaker 3: I know, I know that, like this kid coming in
- 59:01Speaker 3: from Penn State, But but are we are we really
- 59:05Speaker 3: we really thinking this guy's gonna put up the same
- 59:08Speaker 3: kind of numbers they've gotten the last couple of quarterbacks.
- 59:11Speaker 3: And yeah, they guys, But then drink Woodz always figures
- 59:15Speaker 3: out how to get it done. I mean, he's over
- 59:17Speaker 3: achieve a bunch, So so that is that is an
- 59:22Speaker 3: this is an interesting team. But man, you look at
- 59:25Speaker 3: this schedule and holy smokes, Central Arkansas, Kansas at home,
- 59:31Speaker 3: Louisiana at home, South Carolina at home.
- 59:34Speaker 2: U Mass at home. Off week Alabama at home.
- 59:39Speaker 3: They're gonna be five and oh most likely when Fama
- 59:43Speaker 3: comes to town.
- 59:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and then there and we'll live in the state
- 59:48Speaker 2: of South Carolina.
- 59:49Speaker 3: They're at all Are you if this team's remotely as
- 59:53Speaker 3: good as they were last year, how.
- 59:55Speaker 2: They can win off both those games?
- 59:57Speaker 3: They are literally seven and one if they lose Tobama
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: and then then then it gets a little more difficult.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: But I mean, they're at they get a and Evan home,
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: they get Mississippi State at home, they're at Oklahoma, and
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: they're at Arkansas. They win at Arkansas, they probably should
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: win at Arkansas, will beat Mississippi State at home. I mean,
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: you start looking at this team and you're like, damn,
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: how the ain't not gonna win eight games? They're not
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: to suck to not win eight games. I know, you know,
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: I do think crazy it's gonna be a little better,
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: but I ain't they're gonna win that football game that's
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: a rivalry football game. But I think they're gonna. I
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: think they're gonna win that football game. So all of
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: I say all of this to say, man, the Tigers,
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: they need to be given a hundred dollars handshakes to
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: whoever the hell gave them this at the SEC office.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: It's a it's a good schedule for especially when you
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: look at a team that's rebuilding. Eli Drinkowitz quietly as
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: one eleven games two years ago.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: He's won kid games last year.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: He's been there, you know, several years now at this point,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: he's done a hell of a job at mis Zoo.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: And again, like I said, some of these job openings
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: come up, I think you got to get this guy's
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: all because it's not like the Zoo is a perennial
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: blue blood type program.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: And he's winning back to back years where he's got over.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: Ten wins and he's playing SEC schedules and so it's
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: fascinating to me.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't have any idea what to do
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: with that team. Yet the other team, like I said,
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: I don't have any idea what to do with this Tennessee.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: You know, losing the quarterback, they lost a lot of
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: pieces off of this team, a lot of pieces, And
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: I just don't know what you're gonna get.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: I would be I would not be surprised.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: That all this team was seven and five or eight
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: and four and was competitive all season long.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: Too.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: Here's the thing, Mark, and I believe this. I think, well,
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: agalar are not nearly as talented of a player.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: He's experienced. He was a good quarterback at Appy.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: State, and I think you're gonna get a You may
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: get the same production out of this football team because
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: at the end of the day, you go back minus
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: Nko running, he wasn't very good.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: I mean, he was an average gause, he was okay.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: Now he's talented, and do I think he was going
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: to grow into something. Absolutely? I think that's what's And look,
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: they got a great quarterback coach too, and meaning their
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: head coach is a great coach of the quarterback position.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: So I think he was absolutely gonna develop.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: But at the end of the day, I think you're
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: going to get a very similar production that got even
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: though they lose their three best pass catchers and went
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: out and got some they went out and got some
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: good guys. I think defensively is where this team is
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: probably gonna take a step back. But I think they're
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: still gonna be a good football team. Playoff team.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they won't make the playoffs, but I
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: do think they're probably gonna be pretty good team.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Bottom teams I've gotten this conference. You can break them
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: down whatever you want to is Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Mississippi State.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Uh. Vandy's probably the one that will get the most notoriety,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: obviously with Diego Pobby and his team went seven and
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: six last year. To go bowling probably saved Clark Lee's job.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: He's done a good job, I think, you know, trying
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: to you know, manage the expectation but also do well
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: the spot here uh schedule.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: It will be a grinder all year long. This defense
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: is terrible. It was terrible last year. It'll be terrible
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: again this year.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: They just don't have the dudes to do it offensively, though.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: I think they'll be in some games. The only thing
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: they don't have going for them this year that they
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: had over last year. They're not gonna sneak up on
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: anybody this year, That's right, I mean everybody this year
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: is gonna be like, all right, we can't completely overlook
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: bandy and you know what they're gonna try to do
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: with Pavia. Uh, you know how he's moving the ball around,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: what he's doing. So I think they'll lose that edge.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: But I do think this team is gonna still be
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: in a lot of these games. Their schedule is just
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: as tough as anybody else's. Uh, But I I can
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: see Bandy still being you know, five wins, six wins,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: that's kind of where I had the squad.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: Yep, I agree with you, totally agree team. I think
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: that is gonna be worse than everybody thinks. I ain't Arkansas,
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: I'm I'm out on the Hogs. I think I'm gonna
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: go back to say the same thing I said about
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: more sellers, because really, this year, Taylor Green's all they got. Yeah,
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: that is, they lost a lot of pieces. I mean,
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: they lost some really good guys that I was surprised
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: went into the portal.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: To me, that says more about the state of Arkansas
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: program than anything I think Taylor. I think Taylor Green
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: is a great player, but I think again, defensive coordinators
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: are going to have had a full year to scheme
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: and game plan for this kid, and I think they're
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: I think I think they're gonna.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: Have some trouble. It does help them with their schedule.
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: They obviously lost, obviously lost Oklahoma State, but they're at Memphis.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: You look at that, You look at this schedule, They're.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: At Ole Miss, at Memphis, Notre Dame at home. How
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: did you think they're gonna play in Memphis? The biggest
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: team's gonna go oh and three those three games.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Because everybody I've talked to it that's in the Arkansas
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: you know, programmer around It's like they're stoked about Notre
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Dame coming in there. Stoke and uh and so yes,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: I definitely think this team when they played Memphis is
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: gonna be something.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: That we could easily.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: You know, I'll be laying Memphis in this game because
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I actually think Memphis is gonna be pretty good.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: And I don't have a lot of faith.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: Don't make any hay. It's gonna it's gonna come down
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: to that Memphis game and then October at Tennessee A
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: and m Auburn and Mississippi State. Only Tennessee's on the
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: road in the month of October. They gotta go three
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: and oh in those three home games, in my opinion,
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: and if they win at Memphis, that gives them six wins.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: That's already better than I think this team's probably gonna be.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: Uh because at LSU Missouri to end, I think they
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: lose all three of those games to end and they
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: win seven games if they can win at if they
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: can go undefeated in October and beat Memphis. But I
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: think this football team is more like more likely to
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: be four and eight. I think missisis date is absolutely
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: thinking that they can win this ball game, you know.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: So I think there's some teams coming in there. I
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: think Auburn's thinking they can win this football game. I
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: think I think A and M has it chalked up
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: as they win, you know, in in Jerry World. So
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: I think that is I think that's the excuse me,
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: They're they're done at Jerry World, right, They're going to
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: They're going to faetball this year, so the U. So
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: I mean that's a So that right there is a big,
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: big part of this. So I I think I'm selling
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: on Arkansas. I think Sam Pittman's gone, uh is my
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: honest is my honest opinion. But I do think Bobby
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: Petrino is an excellent offensive football coach. So that that
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: is the one. Hey, I just don't think this defense
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: is gonna be get enough to get it done.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm fading on this team.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: I know how.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Kentucky, not how Kentucky, not how Missippi State.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: I mean, I think I think Kentucky's got real problems
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: Zach Klzaida coming over at quarterback. At the end of
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: the day, I just don't think he's very good. I
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: think they've had better quarterbacks and hadn't gotten good numbers
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: out of them. And I don't think Kentucky's good. I
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: think this is likely the end of the Stoops era,
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: and it has been a damn good one, probably the
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: best since Bear Bryant was in Lexington.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: And my beloved Ouldogs.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: If Jeff Levy gets these guys bull eligible, he ought
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: to be coaching the year. And I don't care if
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: an SEC team goes sixteen and oh and wins the NATI.
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: I mean that he gets them six and six and
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: he's done an unbelievable job. I do think the team's better.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: I do think they might win a game or two
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: they shouldn't, but it is an absolutely brutal schedule. Last
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: year was the toughest schedule in the country. I think
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: this year.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: May be equally as tough or tougher.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: They're at so other than miss the Star, Arizona State
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: at home, Alcorn State, Northern Illinois, Tennessee.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: At A and M off.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: Week, at Florida, Texas, at Arkansas, Georgia at Missouri off week,
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: Ole miss That doesn't set up very good for the Boks.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: That's a lot of two and three and nine four
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: and eight. I mean they could be a significantly better
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: football team, significantly better and go four and eight.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: I think they are better. I think they're but ten.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: They also bring in my favorite player from the portal
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: give it to Bluff bluff Boxwell, I knew that's where
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: you're going. Is that not good? Do you know? Do
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: you know why his name is Bluff? I do not.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Apparently he was an eleven pound baby when he was born.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: And folks, if we have some younger listening, I don't know.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: If your wife ships out an eleven pound baby, that's
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: a big kid that's coming.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: Out thirteen ounces. I was evidently I was plucked. Start
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: calling you Fluff Dinston the uh.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: I will tell you an interesting thing about this about
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: this football team, I think they're better. They lost some
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: really good players offensive line and defensive line. They were
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: atrocious on the defensive line last year. Are they better?
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: I think so, but how much better? Offensive line has
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: got to be better. Quarterback spots fascinating to me. Blake
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: Chafin got hurt early, think highly of them, but man,
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: they've got some really good players. Bulldog brought in a
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: top fifteen quarterback in the country, a kid named Kamario Taylor,
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: Mississippi kid.
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: Kids got a rocket arm, super athlete, big kid. Fascinated
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: to see how much he's on the field because they
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: also have a good.
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: The kid coming in from Florida State as the quarterback, Luke.
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: I can't even pre Crowman Hooick or however you say
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: his last name, but he's actually on the roster, and
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: I know Levy loves that.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: Kid, so he was the one that took over after
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: that's great quarterback. I heard a couple of years ago.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: So fascinated. Fascinated to see how the quarterback play at
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: Mississippi State goes. There's no shortage of ability behind shape
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: and if he struggles at all, and I can't imagine
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: he's not going to struggle with this schedule and that
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: offensive line, so fascinated to see what goes on with
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: this football team. Obviously from a personal aspect, but just
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: doesn't look like But I also think they're talented enough
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: we could get some covers from Mississippi State, especially at
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: home or even in road games, depending on what spot
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: they're falling on schedules for people, because I think this
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: team's going to be significantly better. And look, they covered
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: a bunch covered Texas over Georgia. They covered all those
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: big numbers they got last year, played better than laid
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: eggs at home when when line started getting tight, So
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: to be fascinating to see how all that works. I
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: think State's gonna be an interesting team to see. Can
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: you gamble on these guys and make some money?
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: Do you so?
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: Week one when they have to go to Hattiesburg. Speaking
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: of signing weird deals, why on earth was going to
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: committment to go down and play the Mustard buzzards? And
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: you not only that this team right here is that
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Southern miss is fantastic. There are more players that started
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: for Marshall last year that are going to play for
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: Southern mess that are still on the Marshall roster. He
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: brought twenty one starters for the Marshall roster to Southern
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: mess with him. When Charles Hufcot canned and took this job.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: The line's fourteen. If you had to bet at today or.
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: You I beat the I bet the buzzers and a heartbeat,
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: I pro real best the buzzards opening. I think that
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: number is a little too big candidly, but I see
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: them winning this game straight up.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: You bet your bottom dollar I can. This program's not fixed.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: Although Levy will tell you he believes his backups this
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: year could have beaten the starters last year.
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: He believes that well. I do think there's going to
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: be some opportunity here. You're going to get a huge
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: number Week two when they have Arizona State comes from town. Huge.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: Look, I don't think that team that team. Look, I
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: know their quarterback's good. Cam's Kataboo made that team. It
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: was his attitude, his mindset. It was a full mindset
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: that that full team embraced. And what do they do
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: now that he's gone. I think there's a lot of questions.
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: We'll get to that when we get to the big
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: twelve by Arizona State and still a really young football code.
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: Tremendous job. The first two years, But what do they
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: do year three? And is this something that's going to
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: be a long term deal at Arizona State or was
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: that a special season and then they fall back to normal.
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: That's gonna be a great storyline coming out of Tucson too,
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: I mean coming out of me.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: So, if you had to, what are your favorite two
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: sec preseason best I don't know if you've made any
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: or not.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: I have not made any yet, but I'm going to.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: I will tell you what probably my favorite. My I really.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: Really like odds. And I know that sounds sounds crazy,
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: what some heisman ods.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: Ryan Williams at Alabama could make some real hay. I
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: mean that kid was a complete, complete showman. If Alabama's
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: as good as I think they are, I think Simpson's
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: got a chance to so I think that will be
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: that will be really really fascinating. So that's the that's
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: the that that that's the couple I like. So I
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: think they are surprised. They could really surprise some people
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: with some with the numbers that they're able to put up.
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: And I would also tell you I think if Oklahoma
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: is a playoff team, which I think they have the
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: ability to do my tier is going to be a
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: real Heisman contender.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Ryan Williams thirty five to one. Yep, to win the
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: How is Reuben Owens twenty five to one and Ryan
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: Williams is thirty five to one? That was even seen? Yeah,
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: the kids play you got him? Man? That is crazy?
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: So yeah, and the tiers. Let's see what we get
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: here to go find him? Yeah, two hundred or something
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: to one, and he, I mean he's way down. Maybe
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: I got to look at that. It pick Colin Simmons
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: at forty to one. They won't give you big numbers
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: at two hundred and one anymore. After Well, you can
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: still take Caleb downs at Ohio State. He's one hundred
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: and twenty five to one.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: You know, I think Jerff who's gonna win Hesman? Here's
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: that Jeremiah Smith. As we talked about Ohio State. We'll
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: talk about that on the Big ten. But I had
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: that's who. I think that you talk about a great
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: flyer on the I think he's twelve to one. Last
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: time I looked, thank.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: You seventeen to one.
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: Seventeen Yeah, So I mean that's that's twenty eight to one.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: So I mean that's a so that is a that
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: those are the guys that I think have got long shots.
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: That I mean, you can put just a small bet
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: out there and really get you know, get paid off.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely, man, that was fun.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to We'll have more bets put together.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: We'll have this podcast out there. Give us some reviews,
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: like if you've been listening to this long you have
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: a long drive of long Walker and great workout, so
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: we appreciate it. But there's so many damn teams in
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: the conference now, it takes forever to get through.
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: We'll keep plowing along. Next one'll put up Scott, you
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: will do Big ten or the Big twelve.
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: Let's do Big ten. Next one'll put up next week
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: a big Big ten conference.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: Then we'll go to America's conference the Big twelve, trying
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: to figure out who's.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: Gonna win that thing. And then we'll start grouping up
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: the group of five conferences we go through there. I
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: love the sun Belt this year. I'm pretty excited. I'm
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: pretty excited about it.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: My love for the sun Belt has replaced my love
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: for the MAC.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: I feel like the MAC has just been ravaged. I
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: don't think is gonna dominate that lead I've already got
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: I've got a couple of early season bets.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: I like on Toledo to win a couple of games
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: out right, So I'm pretty excited about it.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: That means some folks, we love you. Give us a tweet,
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: give us questions. He's that you want to hear. Put
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: some stuff in the comments. We'll bring them up on
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: the show.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: We'll keep everything flying ahead, looking forward to another great season.
