- 0:17Speaker 1: you doing, I'm great. How are you this morning? I'm good. Hey.
- 0:21Speaker 1: You must have known Ernie Anastis.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I didn't really know him, but I loved him. Everyone
- 0:27Speaker 2: loved him. The outpouring of love for him is amazing.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I mean I met him a couple of times. I
- 0:31Speaker 2: see some nice pictures of you on Instagram with him.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Yeah, but he was, well you met him, you know,
- 0:36Speaker 1: he was just a very happy guy. He kind of
- 0:38Speaker 1: put a positive glow in every room he came into.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Yeah, and he was also what a career.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I mean, he was so popular and you know, uh,
- 0:48Speaker 2: tastes change in television, the television world and television news,
- 0:54Speaker 2: and they're also looking for the next big thing. But
- 0:57Speaker 2: he was always the next big thing for CJ. At
- 0:59Speaker 2: eleven years at one station than twelve years at another station.
- 1:03Speaker 3: So it was like.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Even when he you know, he just kept going and
- 1:07Speaker 2: going and going, and people loved watching him.
- 1:09Speaker 1: But there's no more big thing than local television. You know,
- 1:12Speaker 1: in the good old days you had Chuck Scarbo, Roger Grimsby,
- 1:15Speaker 1: Bill but Tell. You don't have that anymore, you can't.
- 1:17Speaker 3: I missed Roger Grimsby.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah, Bill, but Tell was a great guy.
- 1:23Speaker 3: By the way, did you know him?
- 1:24Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:25Speaker 3: Bill, but he was a lovely He was a lovely guy.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Very stern somber newsman, but off the air was like
- 1:32Speaker 1: this wild nightclub guy. He was a lot of fun.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, he was just very He was a lot of fun,
- 1:37Speaker 2: very nice and a real newsman. But Ernie An asked
- 1:39Speaker 2: this was he was really the like the epitome of
- 1:43Speaker 2: New York. And they don't say why he passed, what
- 1:47Speaker 2: happened to him, But I hope he didn't have a
- 1:49Speaker 2: bad time. I'd been sick for a little while and
- 1:51Speaker 2: the final cause was pneumonia.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I was it.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Yeah, But look at the outpouring of love for him
- 2:00Speaker 2: in all the stations last night and on all of
- 2:02Speaker 2: our social media is just great.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I mean that's very rewarding.
- 2:07Speaker 1: You know, hey, let's talk about the Oscars. It's Sunday night,
- 2:11Speaker 1: the big Oscar ceremony. You know, yes, it's like local
- 2:15Speaker 1: TV news. You knew every name, you knew the big anchors.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Now you don't know who they are. Same thing with
- 2:18Speaker 1: the Oscars. You had the list of presenters. I don't
- 2:21Speaker 1: know who half these people are.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yeah, the list of presenters this year surprised me. But
- 2:26Speaker 2: I actually wrote about this a few months ago because
- 2:30Speaker 2: you could already tell that the actors who were going
- 2:32Speaker 2: to be nominated weren't that well known or weren't big
- 2:36Speaker 2: movie star movie stars, you know, and there was like
- 2:40Speaker 2: not a lot of glitz.
- 2:41Speaker 3: So I kept saying months.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Ago, they better get in a lot of the old
- 2:46Speaker 2: Hollywood stars or the very well known brand name stars
- 2:50Speaker 2: while they're still alive, and get them in there to present.
- 2:53Speaker 3: But they didn't get any of them. The only thing
- 2:56Speaker 3: they're going to have.
- 2:57Speaker 2: That I know of so far is that Barber Streisand
- 2:59Speaker 2: is going to speak for like a couple of minutes.
- 3:02Speaker 3: About Robert Redford.
- 3:04Speaker 2: But otherwise, and they certainly my joke was My joke
- 3:08Speaker 2: was for the in memorium. They were not going to
- 3:10Speaker 2: get Woody Allen for Diane Keaton.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I hate to break it you, but nobody under thirty
- 3:16Speaker 1: five is going to know who Barbara streisand.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Is now they do. She's like a big star. I
- 3:22Speaker 3: don't think so.
- 3:24Speaker 2: You have you have a list of stars who when
- 3:30Speaker 2: we were younger, we look forward to seeing Gregory Peck
- 3:33Speaker 2: and you know, Myrta Lloyd and all these great stars
- 3:36Speaker 2: come and give some glamour to the Oscars.
- 3:39Speaker 3: That's what's supposed to be about.
- 3:41Speaker 2: But you know, the Oscars don't have that much glimber
- 3:43Speaker 2: anymore because people don't live in Hollywood, they don't live
- 3:46Speaker 2: in Los Angeles. There isn't much production in Los Angeles,
- 3:50Speaker 2: and it's straining for the movies, you know, to find
- 3:53Speaker 2: a huge Auguinces. I'll tell you what I'm excited about
- 3:58Speaker 2: is maybe next year's Oscar because Steven Spielberg has this
- 4:02Speaker 2: movie coming out in June called Disclosure Day, and they
- 4:06Speaker 2: just dropped the trailer. I have it on Showbiz four
- 4:09Speaker 2: one one. This movie looks fantastic. This movie looks like
- 4:13Speaker 2: a return to Steven Spielberg, you know, to et Close Encounters.
- 4:17Speaker 3: And I can't wait to see it. And I'll bet
- 4:19Speaker 3: it's a huge, huge hit.
- 4:21Speaker 1: What's the movie about.
- 4:23Speaker 2: It's about UFOs and apparently and the disclosure is that
- 4:28Speaker 2: they're finally going to tell the truth about whether there
- 4:31Speaker 2: have been UFOs, whether they've been aliens on Earth for
- 4:34Speaker 2: the last eighty years, and it's going to make the UFO,
- 4:41Speaker 2: you know, conspiracy people go crazy, absolutely crazy. There's a
- 4:46Speaker 2: show on the radio overnight, do you. I don't know
- 4:49Speaker 2: if you ever listened.
- 4:49Speaker 1: To it, Saucer Show. I don't really get to hear it.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I love that show, but normal people don't want to
- 4:56Speaker 3: hear that. You know.
- 4:58Speaker 2: People call it in. They say they've been abducted by aliens,
- 5:01Speaker 2: they're up in spaceships, they've had meetings with them. And
- 5:05Speaker 2: this movie is going to make those people. It's going
- 5:07Speaker 2: to activate those people all over the world. I mean
- 5:11Speaker 2: that Coast to Coast should really have Steven Spielberg on.
- 5:14Speaker 2: But the movie looks fantastic and it looks like the
- 5:18Speaker 2: cousin of Close Encounters, but even more like you know, serious.
- 5:23Speaker 3: So I'm excited about that.
- 5:25Speaker 2: As far as the Oscars go this weekend, you know, yeah,
- 5:29Speaker 2: So it's very strange the presenters are. They're going for
- 5:32Speaker 2: very young and everyone's everyone's under fifty or fifty straining it.
- 5:40Speaker 2: But they don't have any of the big, big stars.
- 5:43Speaker 2: And I'm afraid that the biggest part of the show
- 5:45Speaker 2: is going to be the in memoriam, because you're going
- 5:47Speaker 2: to have Redford, Keaton, Gene Hackman, You're going to have
- 5:51Speaker 2: all these big people who died during the last year.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And that's a downer, do you know what I mean?
- 5:58Speaker 1: Hey, The only Oscar movie I saw I was Marty Supreme.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Is that going to win anything?
- 6:03Speaker 2: Marty Supreme is a flashpoint now because Timothy Challome, the
- 6:08Speaker 2: star for a long time, was in the lead to
- 6:11Speaker 2: win Best Actor, but he has screwed up his Oscar
- 6:15Speaker 2: campaign in the most unhistoric way.
- 6:18Speaker 3: First, he started appearing in orange outfits.
- 6:21Speaker 2: They manufactured orange ping pong balls to go with it,
- 6:25Speaker 2: and everywhere he went. Plus he totes around Kardashian, this
- 6:28Speaker 2: Kylie Jenner, who Hollywood just can't stand, and she's always
- 6:33Speaker 2: dressed very trashy looking at all the award shows. He's
- 6:37Speaker 2: really killed his own career. And in the last couple
- 6:41Speaker 2: of weeks there's been like a monumental campaign against him
- 6:45Speaker 2: because he did an interview on CNN with Matthew McConaughey
- 6:49Speaker 2: and he said that he you know, he made castigating
- 6:53Speaker 2: remarks about ballet and opera and said they, you know,
- 6:56Speaker 2: they weren't going to live on as forms of art,
- 6:59Speaker 2: and this made everyone angry at him.
- 7:02Speaker 1: So I have a feeling, Martin have never been to
- 7:04Speaker 1: an opera ballet. What are they getting so uptight about.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Well, but they didn't like the idea, and I think
- 7:11Speaker 2: that you're going to see Samothy Tella may not win
- 7:14Speaker 2: the Oscar this Sunday, which would be too bad because
- 7:16Speaker 2: he really deserved it. But there are other The other
- 7:19Speaker 2: people in the category are really good. You have Leonardo
- 7:22Speaker 2: DiCaprio who could certainly win, Michael B. Jordan from Sinners,
- 7:26Speaker 2: who's excellent, and Ethan Hawke, who's amazing in Blue Moon,
- 7:30Speaker 2: a movie you should rent on on video on demand.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So Marty Supreme may have ping pong this way out.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Hey, we only got a minute left. What
- 7:41Speaker 1: about the Oscar parties? Did you write that they're kind
- 7:43Speaker 1: of downsizing a little parties?
- 7:46Speaker 3: Well, Vanity Fair.
- 7:47Speaker 2: You know, Vanity Fair is not the magazine that used
- 7:50Speaker 2: to be, and they're struggling for circulation.
- 7:53Speaker 3: They've lost a lot of money.
- 7:55Speaker 2: They have a new editor who's very young, and they're
- 7:58Speaker 2: cutting the party in half. So they're moving to a
- 8:02Speaker 2: smaller locale and it's not going to be the big,
- 8:04Speaker 2: you know pageant that it usually is. And yesterday the
- 8:08Speaker 2: editor did an interview where he said only people who
- 8:11Speaker 2: have who've won oscars can come, but the nominees should
- 8:15Speaker 2: forget it. So if you if you're not a for
- 8:19Speaker 2: an oscar and you lose, you can't come.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's trying to create some fake cachet for the party.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Yeah, but there's it's not it's not.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Valvey Fair had a crescendo over the last twenty years
- 8:32Speaker 2: with oscar parties and you know, fantastic, fabulous people. And
- 8:36Speaker 2: now they stop by, they take a picture on the
- 8:38Speaker 2: red carpet and then they go to dinner.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, if you want to read more, go to
