- 0:07SPEAKER_01: Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the table at a dance competition?
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: Exactly what are the judges looking for anyway?
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: This is Making the Impact, a dance competition podcast.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: Each week we'll cover a different topic related to the world of competitive dance from the perspective of the judges behind the table.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Hey y'all, welcome to our finale episode of season three.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: This is our wrap up.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I cannot believe that we are here.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: And it's already over.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Why is it already over?
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: I want more.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: I know, me too.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: After we just finished recording our 106th episode, I pressed stop on the recording and I was like, wow, we're not gonna do this for a while.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: I'm really sad about it.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: I know it's always such a bummer when things end, but things must end for them to recharge and rejuvenate and begin again.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: So we're super excited to just kind of wrap up the season and chat a little bit about what's coming next season for you and wish you a wonderful summer.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and summertime, it's here, and I know we all can use a break for sure.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: So I hope that everybody listening is going to head on over to vacation maybe at some point this summer with your family, maybe head to the beach, get some sun.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: I know I'm looking forward to that.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: A hundred percent, me too, and just taking some time to recharge and rest and get excited for next year.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: So hopefully uh some of you might be dancing this summer, and if you are, then maybe it'll be at a summer intensive, which we launched one of our last episodes a few weeks ago with our summer intensives.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: So maybe you'll be attending one of those.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: I hope that everyone's keeping dance involved in their summer throughout.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: I know that Leslie and I will because we both will be at some nationals this year.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Yes, we both have a very busy dance-filled summer, I think, and it's like starting any minute now.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Uh so we're we're getting ready for classes and choreography and judging and directing and I mean podcasting.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: We're gonna bring you a couple of cool episodes this summer, hopefully, and keep making the impact in your life, even though we're off the air.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: So before we jump in to finish out our season in this episode, we want to tell you about our final sponsors of season three.

- 3:59SPEAKER_00: All right, listeners, something new that we added in season three was our buy me a coffee feature on Kofi.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: And I have to say, so many fans have bought us coffees this season, and you all helped us raise$500 towards our podcast.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: And just to let you know, all of the donations on Kofi go directly back into producing our podcast.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: So we've been enhancing our studio equipment over here.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: We also have to pay our editor, which Usama, all the way in where does he live?
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Morocco.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Yes, Osama in Morocco keeps us sounding amazing.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: And he really does.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: I mean, shout out to Usama.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: We I'm so grateful that I found you in season one and you've been with us since then, and you've been editing all of our episodes and you make us sound fabulous week after week.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: And I know that Leslie and I are so grateful for your support and can't thank you enough.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: So if you want to continue to donate us through our offseason or heading into season four, you can click the link in our show notes or head on over to Kofi.com slash making the impact to donate as little as three dollars for a coffee, or we've even received donations up to fifty dollars before, y'all.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: So generous.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: That's a lot of caffeine.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: So much.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: We actually even had one supporter buy all of our judges' coffee after having our judges at an event this season, which was so sweet.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: And very unique.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: Like what a nice thing to do that that that was an option for them to do.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Very cool.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: And we did actually buy the judges' coffee.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: So you are your donation went to the right people.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: And one of the great things about the Kofi donations is that you can also leave a review or a comment or a note with your donation.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: So we want to share a few of our final reviews of season three that we received.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: The first review from Kofi is coming from Mia Healy, and they said, I had the pleasure of watching your class at Revel in Baltimore two weeks ago.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: My daughter was in the junior room and she absolutely loved your choreography.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: She really had fun with you.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: I just want to say thank you for inspiring our young dancers and giving them new experiences.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's so sweet.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Thanks, Mia.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: And that's always cool when uh you get recognized at the events.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: That is so nice.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: And another review is coming from Tiffany R.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: underscore on Apple Podcasts.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: And they said, so helpful and insightful.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: My daughter and I started listening to your podcast during quarantine and quickly listened to every episode.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: We have enjoyed the time together in the car discussing your different topics.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Living in a rural area, it has given us positive insight into the much larger dance world.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: You truly are making an impact.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Love that.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Love the car combos.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: And from Christina F on Kofi, they say, I love the show.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: I've been introduced to the competitive dance world as a dance parent.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: I started listening during the pandemic, been hooked since.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: Now my dancing daughter is hooked too.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Thanks for an informative dialogue and for sharing so much of yourself.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: We love to get people hooked on.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Hooked on making the impact.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Wait, I love when parents and then dancers get hooked together.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: It's a good thing to get hooked on.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Also, coming from Kofi from Kalia's mom, we both appreciate all of your episodes and hope this helps to keep you going.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Well, thank you.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: It does.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: It helps.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: It really does help us produce this, you know, free and informative thing that we've been doing for three years.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Yep, like three years.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: Crazy town.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: So thank you for all your support, monetarily and otherwise.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: And another cool feature that we introduced this season at IDA Affiliated Competitions are our Making the Impact Awards that are sponsored by our podcast.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: So I'm sure you've heard us talk about these awards, and maybe you've even had a chance to attend an IDA affiliated competition where these awards were presented.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: And one of the perks about winning this award is that you will receive a live shout-out on the air.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: So just so you know, these awards are going to continue into next season, the 2023 competition season, because they were such a hit.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: The judges loved giving them out, the competitions love giving this award out as well, and the recipients are so excited.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: So we want to recognize our final few winners of the Making the Impact Award.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: From Spirit of Dance Awards Albany, New York event, which was one that I directed, we have Vivian Marshall for her solo Costco Queen from Off-Broadway Dance Center in Fulton, New York.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: And I have to say, you had the judges rolling on the floor laughing.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: Your performance was awesome.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: And from Spirit of Dance Awards Poughkeepsie New York event, Rachel Servidio for her solo Say Something.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: And Rachel is from Betty Jean's Dance Studio from Wappinger's Falls, New York.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: And that was a beautiful dance as well.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: So congratulations, not only to these dancers who won uh from Spirit of Dance Awards, but to everyone who won this season.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: We are so happy to be able to recognize you every every weekend and just give you a little bit more recognition for your hard work.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I love that you've been able to watch a lot of the dances that have received this award since you are the director at Spirit of Dance Awards, Leslie.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: It's just pro it's so cool to have that connection of you're there, you're watching, you're working for an IDA-affiliated competition, and then to come back and do the podcasts and you know, announce these dances that you've had a chance to watch on stage.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: And the cool thing I think about my position is now that I'm not judging, I just get to watch everybody.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: And I don't know what the award is until the awards happen.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: So I'm just as surprised as everybody else, but usually it gets announced and I've seen it and I'm like, of course they picked that one.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: You know, like it just it does like these people that win do make an impact because I'm not even choosing, and that was the one I would have chosen.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: You know, so it's very, very neat.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: So special.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: So also shout out to all of our IDA judges who were out all season long working so hard and representing IDA and making the impact out there because we always receive such fabulous feedback from all of the teachers and the studio owners and the dancers saying that they love their judges' critiques and we really couldn't, we wouldn't be here at IDA if it wasn't for our judges and for the support of our IDA floated competitions.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: So thank you to the comps, thank you to the judges, and uh have fun at National's judges because I know y'all are gonna be staying busy out there too.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: Alright, so to wrap up this season, just to kind of give you an idea, we have hit over 185,000 downloads total.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, that is wild to say.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: I was really, really hoping we would hit the 200,000 download mark and uh achievement by the end of season three.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: But you know what?
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: Maybe by the end of the summer.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: I think so.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: I think a lot, you know, it's interesting.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: Last season, during the summer, a lot of people were re-catching up on episodes from season one, or maybe they recently discovered the podcast over the summertime and then just binged it, you know.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: So if you are one of those, if you are new and listening now and you have two whole, three whole seasons worth to catch up on, um, I have a feeling that our download numbers will increase.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: So we'll give you a heads up at our season four intro episode to know if they have increased or not, which we're grateful for those increases, y'all, because that keeps our stats looking good.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: And that's how we get fun recognition like podcast magazine articles and stuff like that.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it's it's cool to just watch how each episode progresses when you're looking at the stats on our servers and everything.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: So, you know, we had 40 episodes in season three.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: Across all three seasons, we're now at 106 episodes.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: So we've we've got a lot of content for you.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: And yeah, like Courtney said, if you're catching up, you got some catching up to do.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and 40 more episodes are coming your way in season four, everybody.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: So stay tuned for that.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: Also, we launched our Facebook group last year, and we currently have 1700 members in that group as of this recording date.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: So if you have not joined our Facebook community, feel free to join now.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Anyone is welcome.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: A dancer, a dance parent, a dance teacher, a dance adjudicator, a dance professional, a studio owner.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: If you are involved in the competitive dance world, you are welcome to join us over there at our community.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: And it is called Making the Impact, a dance competition podcast community.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: You can search it in the toolbar in Facebook, or you can click the link in our show notes now to join.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: There are a few entrance questions that you must answer, or you will not be approved into our group.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: And we would love for you to join us there.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: We have a lot of fun conversations, a lot of questions are getting asked.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: Our judges chime in and answer questions as well from the judge's perspective.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: And you also have the opportunity to share your achievements throughout competition season and post photos of your dancers.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: So join us.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: We hope that you'll join us.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: New things are coming for season four.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: What's what's coming?
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: There's so many things.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: So many things.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: And I think some things we haven't even thought of yet, truly.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: You know?
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: Like there's always new things brainstorm.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: Things are churning, ideas are forming, always.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: You know, but I think uh the first thing we can tell you is not even really in season four, it's sort of our interim hiatus surprise that this summer we are going to be hosting some live podcasts at two IDA affiliated competition nationals.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I'm pumped.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: I I'm I'm so excited.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: This is something that I've been wanting to do for a long time, and there are many podcasts out there that do live events.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: And I've admired that and was like, I wonder if we'll be able to do that one day.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: And then I started thinking, well, our IDE affiliated competitions love and support our podcast so much, and this could be such a great bonus opportunity to add to the crazy schedule of nationals to just throw in there and give to everyone that's attending.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: So I pitched it to the comps and I think we're making it happen, y'all.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and hopefully, either obviously one one of us will definitely be there.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: Hopefully, both of us will be there, if not in person, via Zoom.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: So it's gonna be a live QA style podcast where audience members join in and ask questions just right there.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: In person.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Wild.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: And you can just kinda it'll kind of almost be like an event or like a seminar, essentially, where there will be audience members and then a panel on stage, and we will pass the mic around if someone has a question, whether it's a dance parent, a dancer, a dance teacher, they'll be it'll be run very much like our QA lives that we do throughout the season.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: So if you are going to be attending Diva Dance Competition Nationals in July in Maryland or Spirit of Dance Awards Nationals in July in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, you can come attend our live QA episode.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: So join us.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: We would love it's obviously free.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: Uh, we'd love for you to join this free event.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: We would love to meet you officially, and uh, we hope that you'll be there.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: Yep, and so another little thing that we're doing new next season, and speaking of these live QA's we're doing this summer, those live QAs are going to be the last free live QA's because dun dun dun.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: We are turning our live QA's into a subscription-based opportunity.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: So, all of our listeners, so many of you love our QA episodes, and we are so grateful for your support.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: But now we are going to have them exclusive to our subscription members.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: So for a very small monthly fee, you can help support our podcast.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: And by doing that, you'll receive exclusive content just for our subscribers.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: And that includes a QA, a monthly QA episode where you can join in live, ask questions live on the episode, or pre-submit your questions to be answered on the episode.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: And then that episode will also be produced into a podcast episode, like always, that will be exclusive just to our subscribers.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: So we are still working on the kinks with this new model, but we are excited to add this.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: And don't worry because this does not mean that our regular episodes are going to be paid.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: We our regular weekly Thursday episodes are going to stay free.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: That just means that our free episodes get an extra episode in place of our QA's.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so we will be sharing more information about this new QA subscription opportunity to all of our fans and listeners and community members over the summer months.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: So stay tuned to learn more about that.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: And if you, as always, have any topics you want to hear for season four, we are always, always open to suggestions and ideas and recommendations because we're here for you.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: We want to know what you want to know.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: And we've we've done a lot already so far.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: But I know there's so many more topics out there that you listeners are hoping to hear.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: So if you are interested in submitting a question or an idea or a topic, shoot us an email at podcast at impactdance adjudicators.com to recommend or suggest episodes for next season.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: All right, y'all.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: Well, that is a wrap on season three.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: I cannot believe I'm saying that.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: This has flown by and the summer is already here.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: So we will be taking our podcast hiatus starting right this moment.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: We will miss all of you listeners, and we hope that you'll miss us as well.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: Go back and listen to some of our previous episodes throughout all three seasons during the break, and we will see you in season four.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Season four is launching September 1st, and our weekly episodes will be launching every Thursday.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: So we will see you then.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: We hope you have a great summer.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: See you then, Courtney.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: I'm going to the pool.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: Okay, have fun.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: I'm going to get a tan.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: Bye.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Bye.
