Latest / Midnight Movie Theatre / Wisdom Tooth Movie Marathon: Titanic Panic
Transcript
- 0:12Speaker 1: It's been twelve days since Clavicular was ruthlessly framewarked by
- 0:18Speaker 1: an ASU frat leader. In just a few days before that,
- 0:22Speaker 1: I had my wisdom teeth removed. So luckily, I've had
- 0:25Speaker 1: a little bit of time off work to recover from
- 0:28Speaker 1: both of those things. And since I knew I was
- 0:30Speaker 1: going to be off work, I figured, what else am
- 0:32Speaker 1: I going to do besides sit up watch movies? Might
- 0:35Speaker 1: as well put together a little movie marathon for tonight's episode,
- 0:39Speaker 1: And that's what we did. I was just eating pudding
- 0:41Speaker 1: all day, just drinking milkshakes, you know, living my best life.
- 0:46Speaker 1: The one thing that I kind of underestimated was how
- 0:49Speaker 1: bad I was going to be put out by this
- 0:51Speaker 1: whole operation that I did. The whole I don't know.
- 0:55Speaker 1: It was a little more brutal than I expected. It
- 0:57Speaker 1: took me a little longer to bounce back from this
- 1:00Speaker 1: whole thing that I thought. So I was under the
- 1:03Speaker 1: impression that I was going to be going under when
- 1:06Speaker 1: they took my teeth out, and the whole thing was
- 1:08Speaker 1: just you know, I wasn't that nervous going into it, really,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Like I was thinking, like, Okay, they're gonna knock me out,
- 1:15Speaker 1: cut some fucking teeth out, and I'll be I'll be
- 1:17Speaker 1: back on my way. I'll be skipping out of this
- 1:20Speaker 1: goddamn office. So I'm sitting there, I got my playlist ready,
- 1:24Speaker 1: I've got in together now by winting biscuit going in
- 1:27Speaker 1: the headphones. They're they come in there. They give me
- 1:30Speaker 1: like six valume and they're just like, you know, eat
- 1:33Speaker 1: these valume, sucking this gas, and you'll we're gonna be
- 1:37Speaker 1: ready for you in no time. And I was thinking like, fuck, yeah,
- 1:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna be asleep in you know, minutes. And about
- 1:44Speaker 1: thirty minutes after I take the pills, they come back
- 1:46Speaker 1: in there and they're asking how I'm feeling. I felt
- 1:49Speaker 1: exactly the same. I didn't feel any more high or
- 1:53Speaker 1: relaxed or anything like that. And I was like, you know,
- 1:55Speaker 1: I'm feeling all right, and they're like, all right, so
- 1:58Speaker 1: we're just gonna go ahead and cut these motherfuckers out.
- 2:00Speaker 1: And they did, and I could pretty much, you know,
- 2:03Speaker 1: feel everything, all the sawing and the crunching and stuff.
- 2:09Speaker 1: You know, I'm just sitting there like wow, not exactly
- 2:13Speaker 1: how I expected this to go.
- 2:14Speaker 2: But they get me out of there.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I walk right out the door, and then after that
- 2:19Speaker 1: it's just kind of a long recovery. And the thing
- 2:22Speaker 1: that I didn't expect, and I don't know why, because
- 2:25Speaker 1: I've had other surgeries and stuff like that in the
- 2:28Speaker 1: past and this always happens, is that it's always so
- 2:32Speaker 1: hard to poop afterwards, and they never really give you
- 2:38Speaker 1: the heads up that like, hey, you're gonna need to
- 2:40Speaker 1: start eating prunes and drinking laxatives and stuff like that
- 2:46Speaker 1: weeks in advance. Get them pipes hot and greasy before
- 2:50Speaker 1: you get this done, because once you take all these
- 2:53Speaker 1: pills and all this stuff, you know you're not going
- 2:57Speaker 1: to be shitting. And I don't know why that is.
- 3:00Speaker 1: It just like really backs you up. And then you
- 3:02Speaker 1: got you know, you got. The worst thing about it
- 3:05Speaker 1: was that I just had tummy aches the whole time.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I had tummy aches from the I don't know it
- 3:09Speaker 1: was from the antibiotics or the steroids that they had
- 3:12Speaker 1: me on or what, but that was probably the That
- 3:15Speaker 1: was the thing that I should have been expecting. I
- 3:18Speaker 1: should have oiled up all my holes in advance, and
- 3:22Speaker 1: I did it.
- 3:22Speaker 2: You know, That's my bad.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I guess I'll have to I need to remind myself
- 3:26Speaker 1: anytime I ever get something like that done again, get
- 3:29Speaker 1: them things going and get the fiber going. So I've
- 3:32Speaker 1: been playing ketch up as far as taking dumpskills, which
- 3:36Speaker 1: hasn't been hasn't been too fun. And with that, with
- 3:41Speaker 1: that being said, I didn't get to as many movies
- 3:44Speaker 1: as I planned. Like I was thinking, like, damn, I'm
- 3:46Speaker 1: probably gonna hammer out like ten movies throughout this recovery time.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I had about a week, you know, to recover.
- 3:52Speaker 1: So I was like, I'll probably even be rewatching like
- 3:55Speaker 1: some classics like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, even you know, maybe
- 4:00Speaker 1: revisit some of the the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, even,
- 4:05Speaker 1: you know, just some like some go tos. Might even
- 4:07Speaker 1: watch the Stand made for TV movie. And I did
- 4:13Speaker 1: watch a Stephen King adaptation, but it wasn't the Stand. Yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 1: I didn't get I didn't get to all that. I
- 4:19Speaker 1: got to about four movies is kind of what I
- 4:22Speaker 1: ended up doing. And you know, we'll we'll talk about
- 4:27Speaker 1: those four movies just kind of give you a quick rundown.
- 4:29Speaker 1: There was some good, there was some bad. It was
- 4:31Speaker 1: a nice little mix up, like a nice little variety
- 4:35Speaker 1: of movies that I ended up going through, so excuse me.
- 4:38Speaker 1: God damn it really gassy right now too. I don't
- 4:44Speaker 1: know what's going on with that. Everything's kind of I
- 4:47Speaker 1: think homeostasis is returning, I think, is what's happening. All
- 4:51Speaker 1: the I've haven't been I'm done with my antibiotics, done
- 4:55Speaker 1: with the steroids. I haven't been taken any you know,
- 4:57Speaker 1: they didn't give me any pain medicine at all, at
- 5:00Speaker 1: which I thought was interesting. I just kind of took
- 5:02Speaker 1: ibuprofen and stuff like that, and I asked them what
- 5:06Speaker 1: that was about, and they said, well, we we looked
- 5:09Speaker 1: you up on social media and we saw how base
- 5:11Speaker 1: you were, so we figured you.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Didn't need it. Yeah. One of the movies that I
- 5:16Speaker 2: watched is.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Might have an effect on the way that I do
- 5:22Speaker 1: the next monthly franchise watch. I had another franchise watch
- 5:26Speaker 1: in mind. You know, I'm finishing up the Scream movies
- 5:29Speaker 1: right now. Scream seven's coming out at the end of
- 5:32Speaker 1: this month. About to watch that shit, and I was
- 5:36Speaker 1: kind of leaning towards maybe doing the Texas Chainsaw massacre.
- 5:39Speaker 1: But after watching one of the movies for this little episode,
- 5:42Speaker 1: I was like, I might do something different. I might
- 5:45Speaker 1: do a little Stephen King thing here. Maybe watch them
- 5:49Speaker 1: Stephen King adaptations. Obviously not all of them, because I
- 5:52Speaker 1: would just basically be never ending. I'd be going on
- 5:55Speaker 1: for years watching goddamn Stephen King adaptations. But I thought,
- 6:00Speaker 1: maybe pick like a handful of them, compare them to
- 6:03Speaker 1: the books, maybe like read the books at the same
- 6:06Speaker 1: time and talk about them.
- 6:07Speaker 2: That might be kind of fun.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I did that with the Shining on my Patreon recently,
- 6:12Speaker 1: so check out the patreon if you want to see
- 6:15Speaker 1: what the difference is between the Shining movie and the
- 6:19Speaker 1: book and kind of my thoughts and opinions on that
- 6:22Speaker 1: thought that turned out pretty pretty well. It was pretty
- 6:25Speaker 1: fun to do, So yeah, I might do that. Might
- 6:27Speaker 1: do the Texas Chainsaw masker. I don't know. I can't
- 6:30Speaker 1: really tell. I've just kind of been wanting to watch
- 6:31Speaker 1: the original one, and I haven't ever finished that franchise,
- 6:35Speaker 1: so it's one that I've kind of been wanting to
- 6:37Speaker 1: get into and really just go ahead and knock them
- 6:39Speaker 1: all out. They'll probably be doing another Texas chains I'm
- 6:41Speaker 1: Askers soon anyway, so maybe by the time I get
- 6:44Speaker 1: done with that, there'll be a new movie to watch
- 6:46Speaker 1: at the end, kind of like with a screen franchise.
- 6:48Speaker 1: So we'll see how that goes. But speaking of the
- 6:51Speaker 1: screen franchise, I did put out an episode last week
- 6:54Speaker 1: that appears to be pulled off of Spotify, probably for copyright,
- 6:59Speaker 1: I guess because I was playing the end of the Scream,
- 7:03Speaker 1: the first Scream movie in the video, so that's probably why.
- 7:06Speaker 1: But it is still up on YouTube. I think it's
- 7:09Speaker 1: on Apple podcast and most other streaming platforms still, so
- 7:12Speaker 1: if you want to check that out. It's a video
- 7:15Speaker 1: just going over the end sequence of Scream one showing
- 7:18Speaker 1: Billy get speared with the umbrella, Stu Macher getting crushed
- 7:22Speaker 1: by the TV, mostly going over those two things and
- 7:25Speaker 1: kind of talking about my feelings about the end of
- 7:28Speaker 1: that movie and what I think might happen in Scream seven.
- 7:32Speaker 1: We'll see, Okay. So the first movie I got into
- 7:36Speaker 1: was Begonia. This came out in twenty twenty five. I
- 7:39Speaker 1: think it was up for some pretty serious Oscar awards
- 7:42Speaker 1: if I'm not mistaken. It was directed by Yourgos Lanthemos,
- 7:47Speaker 1: which this was my first Yorghos movie. I've been meaning
- 7:51Speaker 1: to get to poor things in Dog Tooth, but I
- 7:54Speaker 1: just haven't yet. I thought I would. I was really
- 7:56Speaker 1: excited about Poor Things coming out. I thought it looked
- 7:59Speaker 1: pretty cool, and then I just never got around to it.
- 8:01Speaker 1: So I would say, without seeing any of his other movies, though,
- 8:06Speaker 1: this would be a great intro film if you're getting
- 8:09Speaker 1: into your Ghos Lantemos movies. It feels like a very
- 8:14Speaker 1: easy entry point. I'm just kind of guessing from what
- 8:17Speaker 1: I've heard about some of his other movies, like Poor Things.
- 8:20Speaker 1: This one stars Emma Stone, but Goonia also has Jesse
- 8:23Speaker 1: Plemons in it as the second main character. Stavros Haukius
- 8:28Speaker 1: of the Cometown Fame has a decent role in this
- 8:31Speaker 1: as a police officer who probably sexually assaulted Jesse Plemon's
- 8:35Speaker 1: character when they were younger, because he's like mentions how
- 8:38Speaker 1: he used to babysit him and stuff like that, and
- 8:40Speaker 1: he keeps apologizing for something he did to him and
- 8:44Speaker 1: just sounds like he probably like made him suck his
- 8:46Speaker 1: dick or something like that. I'm just kind of guessing
- 8:48Speaker 1: they never come out and say it, but that's the
- 8:50Speaker 1: vibe you get for sure.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Emma Stone plays Michelle Fuller. She's a CEO of a
- 8:56Speaker 1: major pharmaceutical company. We see her live in a very corporate,
- 8:59Speaker 1: very life lifestyle. And on the other hand, there's Teddy
- 9:02Speaker 1: and Dan. And Teddy is the Jesse Pleman's character. He's
- 9:06Speaker 1: a hardcore conspiracy theorist that thinks that Michelle is an alien.
- 9:10Speaker 1: His cousin Don ohould I say, Dan, His cousin Don
- 9:14Speaker 1: is sitting on the spectrum somewhere and is basically just
- 9:17Speaker 1: kind of being guided and influenced by Teddy with like
- 9:20Speaker 1: these theories about an alien race that's trying that he's
- 9:23Speaker 1: trying to hunt down and I guess like stop them
- 9:26Speaker 1: from taking over the world, or they've already taken over
- 9:29Speaker 1: the world and they're kind of using the humans as slaves. Basically,
- 9:34Speaker 1: this is one of those movies that gives you a
- 9:36Speaker 1: bulletin point to add to your how do I know
- 9:39Speaker 1: I'm being brought into a cult? Checklist, which I think
- 9:41Speaker 1: is always really helpful. Everyone kind of needs to have
- 9:44Speaker 1: one of these just in case, Just in case you
- 9:48Speaker 1: ever need to ask yourself, like, am I being Is
- 9:51Speaker 1: this a cult?
- 9:51Speaker 2: Is this too good to be true?
- 9:53Speaker 1: Or is this just like a multi level marketing scheme
- 9:56Speaker 1: or something, because they're similar but different. And one of
- 9:59Speaker 1: the things you can separate them is with the question
- 10:02Speaker 1: that I got from this movie, which is are you
- 10:04Speaker 1: being asked to chemically castrate yourself? And if the answer
- 10:08Speaker 1: is yes, you're in a cult, you need to leave.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Don't do the castration, get out of there. But I
- 10:15Speaker 1: think everyone should have at least a basic checklist to
- 10:18Speaker 1: make sure that they're not in a cult or not
- 10:20Speaker 1: being indoctrined into a cult, you know what I'm saying,
- 10:26Speaker 1: just in case things start to seem a little too suspicious.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Teddy and don they do end up kidnapping Michelle pretty
- 10:32Speaker 1: early on. I'm not going to get into spoilers or
- 10:35Speaker 1: anything really, I'm just going to kind of do some
- 10:37Speaker 1: overview and whatnot of some of these movies. So don't
- 10:40Speaker 1: worry if you haven't seen it yet. I'm not going
- 10:42Speaker 1: to spoil anything that's not in the trailer. So, yeah,
- 10:46Speaker 1: they kidnap her, they shave her head, they cover in
- 10:48Speaker 1: like this, like the Twinkie cream, the cream that's in
- 10:51Speaker 1: the middle of the twinkies or something like that. And
- 10:53Speaker 1: we see Teddy, you know, he's putting tinfoil all over
- 10:56Speaker 1: his house really stereotypical cult cult member type of shit
- 11:01Speaker 1: or conspiracy theory kind of shit. And the more time
- 11:04Speaker 1: we spend with him, the more we learn about, like
- 11:06Speaker 1: why he thinks Michelle is an alien. It's a it
- 11:11Speaker 1: goes really deep and it gets really personal with the
- 11:15Speaker 1: Teddy character. I thought that was great. It was something
- 11:18Speaker 1: I wasn't really expecting right away. I just thought he
- 11:21Speaker 1: was a fucking loon, And I mean, kind of is
- 11:24Speaker 1: kind of, isn't I guess you kind of make your.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Own mind up about that.
- 11:27Speaker 1: As the movie goes on, he's definitely going to some
- 11:29Speaker 1: pretty extreme lengths to prove that this lady's an alien.
- 11:34Speaker 1: But yeah, it was really fun. We get great performances
- 11:38Speaker 1: from Jesse Plemons and Emma Stone, of course, they do
- 11:41Speaker 1: great jobs. They're going back and forth throughout the whole thing,
- 11:43Speaker 1: just kind of arguing and trying to prove their points
- 11:47Speaker 1: about why she is or isn't an alien, and they're
- 11:51Speaker 1: going full bugshit as the movie goes on, Teddy especially,
- 11:55Speaker 1: he's just like fucking bugged out of his goddamn mind.
- 11:58Speaker 1: And you start to see why Dawn would buy into
- 12:02Speaker 1: some of this goofy shit, Like it's one of those
- 12:04Speaker 1: things where you're like, who would believe the shit? I mean,
- 12:07Speaker 1: besides him being like, clearly I think he's autistic or something,
- 12:11Speaker 1: he's on this spectrum. But besides that, you know, you
- 12:15Speaker 1: can see why he's like convinced. Teddy does have some
- 12:19Speaker 1: pretty good points at some parts in the movie. Besides
- 12:22Speaker 1: all the electrocuting aliens in his basement and stuff like that,
- 12:26Speaker 1: you know, he does make some pretty good points. I
- 12:29Speaker 1: won't say too much more though, but I really thought
- 12:31Speaker 1: this was a fun movie overall, probably my favorite movie
- 12:34Speaker 1: that I've watched from twenty twenty five so far, and
- 12:37Speaker 1: I think it's like a four out of five, really
- 12:40Speaker 1: really solid movie. It's on Peacock right now, so go
- 12:43Speaker 1: ahead and check out Bogonia. Fantastic movie. And the second
- 12:53Speaker 1: movie I watched is a movie called The Passenger. The
- 12:57Speaker 1: poster or the cover art for this movie is kind
- 13:00Speaker 1: of what caught my attention. It's a twenty twenty three
- 13:02Speaker 1: movie that I didn't know anything about. Was one of
- 13:05Speaker 1: those where I was just kind of like skimming through,
- 13:07Speaker 1: flipping through seeing what was free to stream at the
- 13:09Speaker 1: time while I was laying there just you know, eating
- 13:14Speaker 1: chocolate pudding and the art kind of looks like a
- 13:17Speaker 1: seventies grindhouse ish poster, so I was like, Okay, this
- 13:21Speaker 1: seems kind of cool. I feel like I've seen the
- 13:23Speaker 1: art for it pop up every once in a while,
- 13:26Speaker 1: and I hadn't heard much about it, so I thought,
- 13:28Speaker 1: what the hell, I'll throw this thing on see if
- 13:31Speaker 1: it's any good. What do I got to lose? And
- 13:33Speaker 1: right away when we're kicking in, I noticed the Blumhouse intro.
- 13:36Speaker 1: It's a Blumhouse production, which I wasn't expecting, and I
- 13:39Speaker 1: was kind of like, Okay, well, Blumhouse, it's it's usually
- 13:44Speaker 1: pretty hit or miss. You know what I'm saying. They're
- 13:46Speaker 1: gonna give me that Blumhouse goo whether I like it
- 13:49Speaker 1: or not, and that's and I'm just gonna have to
- 13:51Speaker 1: eat it. But really, it wasn't too bad for a
- 13:54Speaker 1: Blumhouse flick. It was kind of more of overall, I'd
- 13:59Speaker 1: say it was more of like a middle of the
- 14:00Speaker 1: road Blumhouse movie, which I haven't seen too often, so
- 14:04Speaker 1: I don't know if that's good or bad. Honestly, I
- 14:06Speaker 1: kind of prefer it to either be really bad or
- 14:09Speaker 1: really good, so.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Overall, it was just kind of a predictable movie, to
- 14:16Speaker 1: be honest. I'll kind of get into what this one's
- 14:18Speaker 1: about a little more since it's not quite as new
- 14:22Speaker 1: as Begonia. But it did have the guy from Kuku
- 14:25Speaker 1: in it. I didn't write his name down or anything.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I just recognized his face from the trailers right away.
- 14:32Speaker 1: And so this guy, you know, he's going from Blumhouse
- 14:34Speaker 1: to Neon, which might be a step in the right direction,
- 14:37Speaker 1: depending on what your tastes are and stuff like that.
- 14:39Speaker 2: If you like a.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Twenty four adjacent movies like that Neon puts out, you might,
- 14:45Speaker 1: you know, you might want to watch him in something
- 14:47Speaker 1: like that. I haven't seen Cuckoo yet. I thought I
- 14:50Speaker 1: remember hearing it was all right. But for as much
- 14:54Speaker 1: as it was kind of hyped up when the trailer
- 14:55Speaker 1: was coming out, compared to the response after it came out,
- 15:00Speaker 1: I kind of got the feeling that maybe it wasn't
- 15:02Speaker 1: as as good as it was supposed to be. But
- 15:05Speaker 1: the guy is a pretty good actor. The guy that
- 15:07Speaker 1: did that, you know, he does a pretty decent job
- 15:09Speaker 1: in this this movie. So it's about basically these two characters.
- 15:14Speaker 1: We've got Randy, who is this really meek, almost like
- 15:19Speaker 1: Jesse Eisenberg. He's like Jesse Eisenberg if you took out
- 15:23Speaker 1: like all of the interesting qualities from him, like kind
- 15:28Speaker 1: of reminds me of him in Thirty Minutes or less.
- 15:30Speaker 1: If if you just made him like really fucking sad
- 15:34Speaker 1: the whole time instead of like, I feel like in
- 15:36Speaker 1: that movie, he's a little bit more rebellious or whatever.
- 15:41Speaker 1: But if you just took all that away and it
- 15:43Speaker 1: just he was just kind of like a sad sack
- 15:45Speaker 1: of shit, that's kind of what Randy is. And we
- 15:47Speaker 1: find out that the reason why he's like that, or
- 15:50Speaker 1: like the main reason why he's like that. So he's
- 15:52Speaker 1: like a grown man in this movie. He's like twenty
- 15:55Speaker 1: two or something, you know, like he's an adult or something,
- 15:58Speaker 1: and he's working at this fast food restaurant. And the
- 16:00Speaker 1: reason why he's so goddamn like timid and passive about
- 16:04Speaker 1: everything is because when he was like in the second grade,
- 16:07Speaker 1: he accidentally knocked out his teacher's eye with an eraser.
- 16:12Speaker 3: What what what?
- 16:16Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 16:16Speaker 1: And you kind of get that from like this flashback,
- 16:19Speaker 1: and it doesn't explain exactly what happens, but he's just
- 16:22Speaker 1: like kind of zoning out, like thinking about shit and
- 16:24Speaker 1: being a wuss, and then it just shows like his
- 16:26Speaker 1: teacher screaming and like blood's fucking shooting out of her eye.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I thought he was they were gonna tell us that
- 16:32Speaker 1: he stabber in the eye with the pair of scissors
- 16:35Speaker 1: when she was like yelling at him or something like that,
- 16:37Speaker 1: and I was like, that would make more sense, because
- 16:39Speaker 1: you know, that's not an accident really, and maybe he
- 16:42Speaker 1: would like question himself a little bit more. But when
- 16:45Speaker 1: you hear the whole story and he explains, it's basically
- 16:47Speaker 1: that like he flicked an a racer at her and
- 16:50Speaker 1: it just happened to like smoke her and the fucking
- 16:53Speaker 1: eye so hard that I don't I guess her eyeball exploded.
- 16:57Speaker 1: It's honestly crazy, Like I imagine, yeah, you could get
- 17:00Speaker 1: your eye put out from getting hit, you know, hard
- 17:03Speaker 1: enough in the eye with an eraser. But when you
- 17:06Speaker 1: see the flashback, there's like so much fucking blood coming
- 17:09Speaker 1: out of her eye that it's hard to imagine an
- 17:12Speaker 1: eraser doing that unless it was like sharpened to a
- 17:14Speaker 1: point maybe and it's like a fucking heavy ass thick eraser.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I don't know, but they never really like show us
- 17:21Speaker 1: any more other than that one quick scenea for like
- 17:23Speaker 1: bleeding and screaming in his face, and it's just like goddamn.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I mean, I guess, yeah, I understand why he'd be
- 17:28Speaker 1: kind of fucked up from it, but it's like ruined
- 17:31Speaker 1: his whole life basically, and he's just like this really sad,
- 17:34Speaker 1: sack of shit character. So anyway, he works at a
- 17:37Speaker 1: fast food restaurant. It basically shows him go to work.
- 17:41Speaker 1: They're supposed to be opening him, and there's like three
- 17:46Speaker 1: other coworkers there and a manager. The other main character
- 17:50Speaker 1: the guy from Kukoo. His name is Benson, and you
- 17:53Speaker 1: just kind of see him like mopping or sweeping or
- 17:56Speaker 1: some shit the whole time. And then there's this this
- 17:58Speaker 1: couple that's working there too, and they're like, you know,
- 18:01Speaker 1: the same age, like early twenties or something. And this
- 18:04Speaker 1: one guy, I don't know what his fucking name was,
- 18:06Speaker 1: but he's like a bully and he's just like making
- 18:08Speaker 1: out with his girlfriend the whole time when they're supposed
- 18:10Speaker 1: to be opening and like and then he just starts
- 18:13Speaker 1: bullying Randy for some reason. He's just like, oh, yeah,
- 18:16Speaker 1: I work here too, but I'm not gonna do fucking shit.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I'm just gonna fucking grab my girlfriend's ass the whole
- 18:23Speaker 1: time and talk shit to Randy for some reason. So
- 18:26Speaker 1: he's just like, you know, like saying, oh, Randy, come
- 18:30Speaker 1: over here and fucking lick my balls and stuff like that,
- 18:33Speaker 1: eat my ass out and stuff in the middle of
- 18:35Speaker 1: the store, and Randy's just kind of like okay, and
- 18:40Speaker 1: he'll just do it like there's a I don't know,
- 18:43Speaker 1: basically just like fucking dunking on Randy like NonStop. He's
- 18:47Speaker 1: treating him like he's a goddamn live streamer or something.
- 18:50Speaker 1: But I think this is supposed to be before live
- 18:53Speaker 1: streaming was a thing, thank god. But anyway, he's so
- 18:59Speaker 1: this guy, he's bullying the fuck out of him. He
- 19:01Speaker 1: like makes him eat an old cheeseburger that somebody left
- 19:03Speaker 1: in the warmer all night or something like that, you know,
- 19:06Speaker 1: and Randy just does it for some reason instead of
- 19:08Speaker 1: just I don't know why, you just want to be
- 19:10Speaker 1: like no, I'm just gonna leave or something. I'm gonna
- 19:13Speaker 1: go tell the manager, like I don't know. He's such
- 19:16Speaker 1: a such a goddamn wiss in this movie that it's
- 19:21Speaker 1: it's insane. So while that's going on, Benson goes out
- 19:25Speaker 1: to his car and gets his shotgun and just comes
- 19:27Speaker 1: in and fucking murders the fuck out of them, and
- 19:30Speaker 1: I think he kills the manager too, and he's like,
- 19:33Speaker 1: all right, Randy, you're gonna help me drag the bodies
- 19:38Speaker 1: in the freezer and we're going to go on a
- 19:40Speaker 1: road trip or something, and it's it's one of those
- 19:43Speaker 1: things where I was I kind of wish that the
- 19:48Speaker 1: roles were reversed, because Benson seems like more of a stereotypical, like,
- 19:55Speaker 1: you know, confrontational type of guy. I was honestly when
- 19:59Speaker 1: this started going going on, I was like, I think
- 20:01Speaker 1: I would like this better if Randy was the one
- 20:03Speaker 1: that snapped shot everybody and then like I guess kidnapped
- 20:08Speaker 1: Benson or whatever took Benson hostage.
- 20:11Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 20:12Speaker 1: I just think that would have been like a more
- 20:13Speaker 1: interesting dynamic. This felt very, like I said, felt like
- 20:18Speaker 1: a very predictable movie, very very like boilerplate, just kind
- 20:21Speaker 1: of like we're gonna do this type of movie, and
- 20:24Speaker 1: this is you know, we're gonna hit all the beats,
- 20:26Speaker 1: do all the things that you kind of expect and
- 20:28Speaker 1: that's kind of what happened. So basically they just go
- 20:31Speaker 1: on this road trip. You know, they kind of hang
- 20:33Speaker 1: out and learn about each other. They go to Benson's house,
- 20:37Speaker 1: Benson's mom's all like pilled out or something, and he's
- 20:41Speaker 1: you know, fucking she can tell something's up, but she
- 20:44Speaker 1: doesn't really do anything. I guess he trades a shotgun
- 20:48Speaker 1: in for a handgun, and then they kind of they
- 20:50Speaker 1: keep going on their way. Honestly, don't even know, like
- 20:53Speaker 1: I can't remember, like what the point of them doing
- 20:56Speaker 1: this road trip even is. They basically just go around
- 21:00Speaker 1: places and eventually, like Randy tells Benson about the fucking
- 21:04Speaker 1: teacher that he put her eye out to and stuff
- 21:07Speaker 1: like that, and they're like, oh, He's like, I'm gonna
- 21:09Speaker 1: take you to the teacher's house now and we're gonna
- 21:12Speaker 1: go talk to her or something. But first, you know,
- 21:14Speaker 1: they go to the school and they're in Benson kind
- 21:16Speaker 1: of like sweet talks the lady in the office to
- 21:20Speaker 1: get the teacher's address. He's like, yeah, this is Randy.
- 21:23Speaker 1: What's his fucking face that knocked her eye out? And
- 21:25Speaker 1: he wants to go say hi to her or something,
- 21:27Speaker 1: so they're like, oh, yeah, sure you can have her
- 21:29Speaker 1: fucking home address, because you know, I don't know what
- 21:32Speaker 1: ear this is supposed to be in. I guess I
- 21:35Speaker 1: think they have smartphones, so it's it's not that old,
- 21:38Speaker 1: I guess, but it's one of those things where it's like, yeah,
- 21:40Speaker 1: if this was set in like the eighties or nineties,
- 21:42Speaker 1: I could see I could see this happening. So anyway,
- 21:46Speaker 1: basically that happens. We kind of get the idea that
- 21:48Speaker 1: like Benson was molested by this guy that works at
- 21:52Speaker 1: the school, and he happens to run into him while
- 21:55Speaker 1: they're getting the lady's address, so he beats the fuck
- 21:58Speaker 1: out of that guy in the parking lot, and they
- 22:00Speaker 1: go to the teacher's house and she's like really excited
- 22:04Speaker 1: to see Randy. He thinks she's gonna like hate his
- 22:06Speaker 1: ass and like resent him because he thinks he like
- 22:09Speaker 1: ruined her life, but she's actually like, you know, really
- 22:13Speaker 1: really happy and just kind of like, oh, yeah, no,
- 22:15Speaker 1: I totally forgive you.
- 22:16Speaker 2: My life's been fine.
- 22:17Speaker 1: You know, I've got kids and shit, now I got divorced,
- 22:20Speaker 1: but you know, I got kids out of it, so
- 22:23Speaker 1: I'm pretty happy about that. And so on and so on.
- 22:26Speaker 1: So they kind of catch up and it's nice, but
- 22:29Speaker 1: then she notices something's a little off with Benson and
- 22:32Speaker 1: that his knuckles are all bloody, and somebody calls and
- 22:34Speaker 1: they're like, hey, yeah, some guys just beat the shit
- 22:37Speaker 1: out of this guy and he's basically dead or whatever,
- 22:40Speaker 1: and so then Benson's like, all right, I'm taking both
- 22:42Speaker 1: you guys hostage now and shit like that. Anyway, it
- 22:46Speaker 1: just kind of goes on and on like that until
- 22:48Speaker 1: eventually they get into a confrontation with the police and
- 22:52Speaker 1: Benson does a death by cop suicide or whatever. You know.
- 22:56Speaker 1: He goes out there and points the gun at him
- 22:58Speaker 1: so the cops will shoot him to death, and that's
- 23:01Speaker 1: pretty much.
- 23:01Speaker 2: The end of the movie.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I guess, like right before the credits, we kind of
- 23:05Speaker 1: see that Randy and the teacher they remain friends and
- 23:09Speaker 1: stuff like that, and he like hangs out with her
- 23:11Speaker 1: kids and shit.
- 23:12Speaker 2: I don't know, you know, it just kind of like.
- 23:15Speaker 1: A middle of the road, like not a bad movie
- 23:18Speaker 1: or anything, not really any like awful performances, just nothing
- 23:22Speaker 1: that really stood out. Felt very like very plain Jane
- 23:27Speaker 1: movie as far as like this type of story goes
- 23:30Speaker 1: so all right, movie, I'd say it's like I said,
- 23:34Speaker 1: two and a half out of five, straight down the
- 23:36Speaker 1: middle of the fucking road and the number three movie.
- 23:44Speaker 1: This was a big one for me because it just
- 23:48Speaker 1: is it chapter two. So this is my first time
- 23:51Speaker 1: watching this movie. I just finished the book it, which
- 23:54Speaker 1: is an achievement in its own you know what I'm saying.
- 24:01Speaker 1: It's a long fucking one. I just do the audio books,
- 24:05Speaker 1: so I think it's like forty eight hours long. It
- 24:08Speaker 1: took me forever, but.
- 24:10Speaker 2: It was good.
- 24:11Speaker 1: It was really good. It was better than I expected.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And that's just something that I've noticed more every time
- 24:16Speaker 1: I listen to, like especially one of.
- 24:17Speaker 2: The Stephen King classics.
- 24:19Speaker 1: It's just like they're always a little better than I'm
- 24:22Speaker 1: even expecting. Like I always hear how good they are,
- 24:25Speaker 1: but I'm like, you know, I kind of know the
- 24:27Speaker 1: story or like I've heard the story through like other
- 24:30Speaker 1: people that have read the books. I've seen the movies,
- 24:32Speaker 1: so I'm not expecting to be like that blown away
- 24:36Speaker 1: or whatever. But yeah, pretty much every time I have been,
- 24:39Speaker 1: and I think that's really impressive, especially if you kind
- 24:42Speaker 1: of know what you're getting into beforehand, like the whole
- 24:45Speaker 1: book is basically spoiled for me in a way, since
- 24:49Speaker 1: I kind of know what happens and how it ends
- 24:53Speaker 1: before I even get into it, and for it to
- 24:55Speaker 1: still be as engaging as it is, I think is
- 24:57Speaker 1: really impressive and says a lot about how good of
- 25:00Speaker 1: a writer Stephen King is, obviously being one of the
- 25:03Speaker 1: biggest writers, especially like when it comes to horror. You know,
- 25:08Speaker 1: it's a deserved title for him, I think for sure.
- 25:11Speaker 1: So yeah, it chapter two. I saw the first IT remake,
- 25:15Speaker 1: you know, in theaters when it came out, and then
- 25:20Speaker 1: you know, I just wasn't that into it. I really
- 25:23Speaker 1: like the the nineties made for TV one. I know,
- 25:27Speaker 1: it's not like the the greatest movie ever anything like that,
- 25:31Speaker 1: or like the scariest movie ever. A lot of it
- 25:33Speaker 1: probably does have to do with nostalgia. I grew up watching.
- 25:36Speaker 1: It was probably one of the earlier like horror movies
- 25:38Speaker 1: that I watched, and it just always stuck with me.
- 25:41Speaker 1: I thought it was really cool as that like stand
- 25:43Speaker 1: by Me feel where you got this group of kids
- 25:47Speaker 1: going on an adventure together and kind of almost like
- 25:50Speaker 1: phantasm like where it's like you're following around this like
- 25:53Speaker 1: childlike sense of wonder that these kids are going through,
- 25:57Speaker 1: and you know, part of it's like is this mostly
- 26:01Speaker 1: due to their imagination or is it like all this
- 26:04Speaker 1: stuff really happening. And I feel like specifically with it
- 26:09Speaker 1: and the town of Dairy, once you get into all.
- 26:11Speaker 2: That whole like.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Lore and whatnot, you know, like the adults don't see
- 26:17Speaker 1: things because they've like grown out of it, so they don't.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I guess it's that they don't believe in it anymore,
- 26:23Speaker 1: so like the kids will see things that the adults
- 26:26Speaker 1: don't and stuff like that. I just think the whole thing,
- 26:28Speaker 1: the whole setup's really really great. But back to the
- 26:32Speaker 1: nineties movie, Yeah, grew up loving that, So when the
- 26:38Speaker 1: remake came out, I don't know. I hadn't read the
- 26:41Speaker 1: book yet. I realized that I realize now after like
- 26:45Speaker 1: getting through the book, that the it chapter one and
- 26:50Speaker 1: two are a little bit or quite a bit more
- 26:53Speaker 1: faithful to the book. But overall that doesn't really matter
- 26:57Speaker 1: that much to me, Like I feel like what it
- 27:00Speaker 1: really matters is the end result, Like what do you
- 27:03Speaker 1: get when it's all said and done. I don't really
- 27:05Speaker 1: It's almost like how people with the shining and people
- 27:08Speaker 1: saying the made for TV version of The Shining is
- 27:10Speaker 1: better because it's a closer adaptation to the book. No,
- 27:14Speaker 1: that's not That's not the case. The Stanley Kubrick's The
- 27:18Speaker 1: Shining is far superior to the fucking bullshit ass made
- 27:22Speaker 1: for TV one. But I felt kind of the same
- 27:24Speaker 1: way with this. I felt like the remake for me,
- 27:28Speaker 1: it wasn't as good as the nineties movie, just the overall,
- 27:32Speaker 1: like the end product what you get, And I don't know,
- 27:36Speaker 1: that's definitely a personal thing. I think the the remake,
- 27:40Speaker 1: the IT chapter one, chapter two movies, they're obviously like
- 27:43Speaker 1: done well and well acted and stuff like that, there's
- 27:46Speaker 1: just something about it, especially it chapter two. I'd have
- 27:49Speaker 1: to go back and watch the first one again to
- 27:51Speaker 1: really get a sense of how that was. It might
- 27:53Speaker 1: have been way different than what I'm remembering, but it
- 27:57Speaker 1: chapter two just kind of felt like a fucking mess.
- 27:59Speaker 1: And I think that that's kind of what I heard
- 28:01Speaker 1: when it came out, so I just never really took
- 28:03Speaker 1: the time to go see it. I figured this would
- 28:05Speaker 1: be a good time to watch it, especially after finishing
- 28:09Speaker 1: up the book, and I haven't watched Welcome to Darry
- 28:12Speaker 1: yet that might be something that I get to at
- 28:14Speaker 1: some point, probably for the Patreon since it's a TV show.
- 28:18Speaker 1: But we'll see. We'll see what happens there. And as
- 28:22Speaker 1: far as this one in the book goes, there were
- 28:24Speaker 1: some you know it did? It did stay fairly faithful
- 28:29Speaker 1: to the book in some ways, in some ways not
- 28:31Speaker 1: so much. I think the ways that it changed kind
- 28:37Speaker 1: of hurt the movie quite a bit. The Henry Bauer
- 28:40Speaker 1: character just didn't feel like as impactful in this movie,
- 28:44Speaker 1: although he does, you know, he shows up and he
- 28:46Speaker 1: attacks Eddie and he attacks Mike. It just or does
- 28:52Speaker 1: he Yeah, he attacks Mike and Mike kills him, I'm
- 28:56Speaker 1: pretty sure. Or no, Or does Eddie kill him?
- 29:00Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I'm having a hard time remembering it now. But in
- 29:03Speaker 1: the book he attacks Mike first, and he like really
- 29:06Speaker 1: badly hurts Mike. He like stabs him in the leg
- 29:09Speaker 1: really bad, and Mike stabs him in the stomach with
- 29:13Speaker 1: the letter opener. Bowers leaves with the letter opener still
- 29:18Speaker 1: in his stomach to go attack Eddie and Eddie kills
- 29:21Speaker 1: him is how I remember anyway. But that takes Mike
- 29:25Speaker 1: out of the equation and he's like laid up in
- 29:27Speaker 1: the hospital, which I don't know. I just thought the
- 29:29Speaker 1: way the book did it was honestly kind of perfect.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I wish the movie did. I didn't really care for
- 29:36Speaker 1: the actor that played Mike in chapter two either. He
- 29:39Speaker 1: felt like one of the one of the worst performances
- 29:42Speaker 1: in the movie. Just felt really hammy. Honestly, the best
- 29:46Speaker 1: part about it chapter two was Bill Hayter's performance as Ritchie.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I thought he did a great job. I think the
- 29:53Speaker 1: guy that did Eddie was really good too. The rest
- 29:56Speaker 1: of him. I just didn't think we're very good. I know,
- 29:58Speaker 1: you got the one guy from fucking Speak No Evil
- 30:02Speaker 1: and oh my gosh, i't me get a little drink
- 30:05Speaker 1: here and Split McAvoy, macavoy, McAvoy, you got him up
- 30:14Speaker 1: in this bitchigan And I just didn't really care for
- 30:18Speaker 1: his performance at all. I didn't really like his portrayal
- 30:22Speaker 1: of Bill. I don't know, maybe it's just me. And
- 30:25Speaker 1: same with fucking Ben. I thought the guy that played
- 30:28Speaker 1: Ben was like supposed to be the honk and stuff
- 30:30Speaker 1: like that just kind of sucked. Just felt like really
- 30:34Speaker 1: almost like really soap operash or really like melodramatic. Same
- 30:38Speaker 1: with bav It just none of it really hit for me.
- 30:41Speaker 1: I don't know, and I think a lot of it
- 30:43Speaker 1: had to do with the pacing. It's like the pacing
- 30:45Speaker 1: the acting, and not to mention, it's basically just jump scare.
- 30:50Speaker 1: The movie is what they should call this movie, and
- 30:52Speaker 1: they do the same jump scare so often that I
- 30:55Speaker 1: was in disbelief by the end of it. It's like,
- 30:58Speaker 1: insert whatever seed GI monster or CGI zombie you want
- 31:02Speaker 1: into into like a scene, and the scene is going
- 31:07Speaker 1: to end with that fucking monster like speed walking, shaking
- 31:11Speaker 1: its head back and forth and screaming, and then it
- 31:14Speaker 1: just like they run away and the scene cuts and
- 31:16Speaker 1: it's like, Okay, that's fucking stupid. We don't need to
- 31:19Speaker 1: see that in every fucking scene that happens so often.
- 31:23Speaker 1: The one that really pissed me off was the Henry
- 31:25Speaker 1: Bauer one when he's still in the INSANEUS Island or whatever,
- 31:29Speaker 1: the mental institution and he sees the dead guy under
- 31:32Speaker 1: his bed, which that kind of pissed me off too,
- 31:35Speaker 1: because in the book he sees Belch and Belch like
- 31:37Speaker 1: talks to him and ship and he's like all fucked
- 31:40Speaker 1: up by the way that he died from Penny Wise
- 31:43Speaker 1: and this one he sees the guy, you know, it's
- 31:46Speaker 1: different in the book. In the book, he sees the
- 31:48Speaker 1: guy that like they weren't really friends with. It was
- 31:50Speaker 1: kind of like a sociopath. This guy that like ends
- 31:53Speaker 1: up jacking off Henry Bowers in the book, like basically
- 31:57Speaker 1: like sexually molesting him in a junkyard. And that's the
- 32:01Speaker 1: guy that he sees under his bed. And this guy
- 32:03Speaker 1: looks like he kind of looks like the hitchhiker from
- 32:06Speaker 1: Texas chaincel masacer if he was a rotten corpse, and
- 32:09Speaker 1: he just like army crawls fast as fuck out from
- 32:12Speaker 1: underneath his bed, screaming, doing that like fast sped up
- 32:16Speaker 1: like headshake thing, and then it just cuts to that,
- 32:19Speaker 1: you know, Henry Bowers and that guy like in a
- 32:22Speaker 1: car and the corpse guy's driving it. And I was
- 32:25Speaker 1: just like, all right, this fucking sucks. This movie's a
- 32:32Speaker 1: fucking piece of shit.
- 32:33Speaker 3: What what what?
- 32:39Speaker 1: Pretty much from that moment on, I lost any hope
- 32:41Speaker 1: that it was gonna be good. But I didn't think
- 32:44Speaker 1: it was going to keep doing the same fucking bullshit
- 32:46Speaker 1: jump scare at the end of every scene like it did.
- 32:49Speaker 2: And I was just like, all right, this fucking sucks.
- 32:51Speaker 2: The movie fucking sucks, honestly.
- 32:53Speaker 1: And the other thing that I'm always just going to
- 32:56Speaker 1: uh have a difference of opinion about with a lot
- 32:58Speaker 1: of people is the Pennywise comparison. I don't give a
- 33:02Speaker 1: shit about Scarsguard's version of Pennywise at all. Like, especially
- 33:07Speaker 1: after reading the book, I was thinking like, Okay, maybe
- 33:10Speaker 1: the scars Guard penny Wise is more like the book
- 33:15Speaker 1: version of penny Wise. So maybe that's why people are
- 33:17Speaker 1: fucking always like, oh yeah, Bill Scarsguard's fucking goddamn Pennywise
- 33:21Speaker 1: scares the fuck out of me, But Tim Curry's is
- 33:25Speaker 1: far superior. I don't give a shit what anybody says.
- 33:28Speaker 1: You can say what you want about that movie. If
- 33:30Speaker 1: you're just looking at the two comparisons, you it doesn't
- 33:34Speaker 1: come close to Tim Curry man, no fucking way. Bill
- 33:37Speaker 1: Scarsguard is basically just like doing googly eyes the whole
- 33:41Speaker 1: time and talking like Scooby Doo and drooling at his
- 33:43Speaker 1: fucking mouths. In the book, penny Wise is like the
- 33:48Speaker 1: Tim Curry penny Wise. He's like joking with them while
- 33:52Speaker 1: he's trying to fucking kill him and stuff like that,
- 33:54Speaker 1: and he's like being a silly goose while he's appearing
- 33:58Speaker 1: to them, you know, and all these fucked up situations
- 34:01Speaker 1: and shooting blood out everywhere and stuff and turning into monsters.
- 34:05Speaker 1: It's just you're never gonna convince me that the Scars
- 34:09Speaker 1: Guard version of Penny Wise is a better performance.
- 34:11Speaker 2: It just isn't.
- 34:12Speaker 1: It's a tough one because, like from what I've seen
- 34:15Speaker 1: from They'll Welcome to Darry, it does seem like he
- 34:17Speaker 1: does a better job in that TV series, But in
- 34:21Speaker 1: these first two movies, I thought it was dog shit.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I couldn't I kundn't understand why people are, you know,
- 34:30Speaker 1: tripping over themselves to defend his performance in these movies.
- 34:34Speaker 1: And like they'll play clips of like Tim Curry doing
- 34:37Speaker 1: the library thing where he's like saying all the prank
- 34:39Speaker 1: called jokes to Ritchie and they'll be like, you think
- 34:42Speaker 1: that's better than this, and it'll just cut to like
- 34:45Speaker 1: a cgi ass Bill Scarsguard, you know, just drooling, and
- 34:49Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, I do think that's a better fucking performance,
- 34:52Speaker 1: you dumb motherfuckers. I think the performance where the guy
- 35:00Speaker 1: actually has to try and become the character. Yeah, I
- 35:03Speaker 1: do think that's a better performance than him just doing
- 35:06Speaker 1: a shitty Scooby Doo voice and just you know, talking
- 35:10Speaker 1: like he's never spoke the fucking English language before in
- 35:13Speaker 1: his life. It's insane, just like some of the dumb
- 35:15Speaker 1: shit that he says. Anyway, I could go on about
- 35:20Speaker 1: this movie for a long fucking time. The ending was ridiculous,
- 35:24Speaker 1: just so much shit to talk about that. It was
- 35:26Speaker 1: just ridiculous. Like the whole ending sequence just sucked my ass.
- 35:30Speaker 1: It's just like fucking the part when Ben gets his
- 35:34Speaker 1: abs cut and they just like literally just show you
- 35:36Speaker 1: his fucking abs for way too long. I was like,
- 35:40Speaker 1: and then like his abs get like healed again, because
- 35:42Speaker 1: they're imagining that that they're being healed and stuff. I
- 35:46Speaker 1: I think what it is is that they were They
- 35:49Speaker 1: should have gone whole hog. They should have pulled their
- 35:51Speaker 1: whole hog out and slammed it down on the table
- 35:54Speaker 1: and done the book ending where it gets into this
- 35:56Speaker 1: crazy like inter dimensional like cosmic battle that they're going
- 36:00Speaker 1: through where they're basically like fighting penny Wise with their
- 36:04Speaker 1: minds and shit. Instead, they kind of do like a
- 36:08Speaker 1: weak ass version of that where they just like insult
- 36:11Speaker 1: him and like they're like.
- 36:12Speaker 2: I'm not afraid of you.
- 36:13Speaker 1: They basically do the Nightmare on Elm Street thing where
- 36:15Speaker 1: they're like you have no power over me, or the
- 36:18Speaker 1: Labyrinth thing, you know, they just straight up do that,
- 36:22Speaker 1: and then they're just like you're a clown. You're a clown,
- 36:25Speaker 1: you're a bitch. You're a bitch. We don't like you,
- 36:27Speaker 1: and we aren't scared of you, little bitch. And then
- 36:29Speaker 1: he just like shrinks and they they tear his heart
- 36:32Speaker 1: out and it's like, Okay, that fucking sucks. It fucking sucked,
- 36:42Speaker 1: my dick, dude. I mean, do the book ending, Like
- 36:46Speaker 1: if you these movies, like the IT movies I think
- 36:48Speaker 1: have like some crazy fucking budgets, do the crazy cosmic ending.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Not to mention, in the book, the whole town like collapses,
- 36:56Speaker 1: like all the streets start fucking. It's basically like uh,
- 36:59Speaker 1: like apocalypse going on in Dairy, where like the whole
- 37:03Speaker 1: town can almost like never recover from it because of
- 37:07Speaker 1: how fucking crazy this whole battle ends up becoming, uh
- 37:11Speaker 1: and how powerful it is. Once it finally dies, it
- 37:14Speaker 1: like destroys the roads and shit, and all the buildings
- 37:16Speaker 1: start collapsing in. People are just like dying left and
- 37:19Speaker 1: right because they're getting squashed by like this, you know,
- 37:22Speaker 1: earthquake type of shit going on. But and this is
- 37:25Speaker 1: just like the shitty house on knee Bolt Street just
- 37:28Speaker 1: collapses in and they're like, well, that's that. I guess
- 37:32Speaker 1: it's finally dead. Anyway, see you guys later. I'll remember
- 37:41Speaker 1: you guys forever. And that's another fucking shitty thing about
- 37:44Speaker 1: it is that in the book, the I thought what
- 37:47Speaker 1: was really like really meaningful and what the book seems
- 37:50Speaker 1: to like at least in my opinion, mostly be about
- 37:53Speaker 1: is you know, obviously about like growing up and kind
- 37:56Speaker 1: of forgetting your childhood or stuff like that, like the
- 38:00Speaker 1: the really important moments in your childhood and kind of
- 38:02Speaker 1: like losing touch with your friends, which I thought that
- 38:05Speaker 1: was like really, I don't know, I just thought it
- 38:09Speaker 1: it was really nice, had like a deeper meaning to
- 38:12Speaker 1: it all. So at the end of the book, once
- 38:15Speaker 1: they part ways, the people that leave Derry like quickly
- 38:20Speaker 1: start forgetting, like Richie forgets about Mike when Mike calls him.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Mike even starts forgetting even though he's the one that
- 38:27Speaker 1: remembered because he's stuck around in Derry. Bill ends up
- 38:31Speaker 1: sticking around in Derry and living at Mike's house while
- 38:33Speaker 1: his wife recovers because his wife gets attacked by fucking
- 38:36Speaker 1: penny Wise and shit, and she gets like brought into
- 38:39Speaker 1: the deadlights. So he's trying to like nurse her back
- 38:41Speaker 1: to health. And while they're there, they can still remember everything,
- 38:45Speaker 1: but it's starting to fade. Everybody else, like Bev and
- 38:49Speaker 1: Ben and everybody that leaves. They start forgetting like rapidly,
- 38:53Speaker 1: and then they realize that this is it, like now
- 38:57Speaker 1: that penny Wise is dead and it's gone and stuff
- 39:00Speaker 1: like that, they're going to ultimately like forget each other
- 39:03Speaker 1: and forget everything other than maybe see their names in
- 39:06Speaker 1: their contact list. So I just thought that was a
- 39:09Speaker 1: really great way to end the book, a really great
- 39:11Speaker 1: way to end this story. But in the movie, they
- 39:14Speaker 1: it's the opposite. They like part ways and they're just like, damn,
- 39:17Speaker 1: I can remember everything fine now and we can always
- 39:20Speaker 1: be friends forever, and Big Bill's gonna write the book
- 39:23Speaker 1: on the damn Pennywise story or whatever, and it's just like,
- 39:29Speaker 1: get that fucking bullshit out of here. They should have
- 39:31Speaker 1: just stuck to the book honestly, like there's really no
- 39:35Speaker 1: reason for them not to considering most of the things
- 39:38Speaker 1: that they did in the movie anyway, or like kind
- 39:41Speaker 1: of close to the book, you know what I mean.
- 39:42Speaker 1: It felt like they were playing it fairly close. But really,
- 39:45Speaker 1: just stick to the goddamn script and get it done,
- 39:48Speaker 1: do it the right way this time, motherfuckers.
- 39:50Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Maybe we'll watch Welcome to Darry I keep hearing that's
- 39:54Speaker 1: really good. So I'm trying to think of there is
- 39:57Speaker 1: so much because the book is so fucking long, and
- 40:01Speaker 1: you know, obviously it chapter two is kind of a
- 40:04Speaker 1: I guess it's like a two hour long movie, I think,
- 40:06Speaker 1: But still it feels like it just barely touches some
- 40:10Speaker 1: of the stuff.
- 40:10Speaker 2: You know.
- 40:11Speaker 1: I know that you put both the movies together to
- 40:14Speaker 1: create the full story. They're they go hand in hand, fuck,
- 40:20Speaker 1: But but I'm not going to think about that all
- 40:23Speaker 1: right now. Maybe we'll do like a full breakdown at sometime,
- 40:26Speaker 1: and I'll really get my shit together instead of just
- 40:28Speaker 1: kind of doing this off the cuff. Anyway, Let's get
- 40:31Speaker 1: to the final movie, the fourth and final movie. This
- 40:34Speaker 1: is the main event right here. This is the one
- 40:36Speaker 1: that really counts Titanic. We had Titanic panic.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Damn it.
- 40:46Speaker 1: We had Titanic panic in the nineties, like you'll you'll
- 40:50Speaker 1: never understand unless you live through it, because I remember
- 40:53Speaker 1: when this shit came out and everybody was talking about
- 40:56Speaker 1: it every bit. But he had the to the two cassette,
- 40:59Speaker 1: the double cassette VHS, and they were watching that shit
- 41:03Speaker 1: like Gangbusters. Everybody, all the kids were talking about the
- 41:06Speaker 1: titties and stuff like that, and you know what, I
- 41:10Speaker 1: didn't watch that shit. I didn't watch Titanic for a
- 41:15Speaker 1: long time. And it's mostly because my favorite CDs at
- 41:21Speaker 1: the time when the movie came out were significant other
- 41:24Speaker 1: by Limp Biscuit and Chocolate Starfish and the hot dog
- 41:29Speaker 1: flavored water by Limp Biscuit. So I was not gonna
- 41:36Speaker 1: watch this pussy ass movie. When I was seven years old.
- 41:39Speaker 1: I was a real fucking man. I was a real
- 41:44Speaker 1: metalcore wigger, and I was not gonna watch some Leonardo
- 41:48Speaker 1: DiCaprio cry shit, you know what I'm saying.
- 41:53Speaker 2: So I didn't watch it.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Eventually, when I grew up and realized that I was
- 41:56Speaker 1: a stupid, fucking idiot when I was seven, I did
- 41:59Speaker 1: watch it.
- 41:59Speaker 2: I thought it was pretty good, you know, but I
- 42:01Speaker 2: hadn't watched it for a.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Long time, so I was like, you know what, we're
- 42:04Speaker 1: just gonna throw on Titanic, watch this one with the
- 42:07Speaker 1: wife and just you know, really soak it in and
- 42:09Speaker 1: enjoy it. It was a lot different than I remember.
- 42:12Speaker 1: That was like, right away, just getting into it, I
- 42:15Speaker 1: was like, okay, I don't remember all this, like shit
- 42:17Speaker 1: at the beginning where they're dropping down and submersible and
- 42:20Speaker 1: you got Bill Packson just being like, yeah, look for
- 42:23Speaker 1: the treasure, look under the fucking look under the dresser
- 42:26Speaker 1: and see if you can get to the treasurer there.
- 42:29Speaker 1: So that was a little different. I was like, Okay,
- 42:31Speaker 1: the effects are great. I mean, you got James Cameron
- 42:34Speaker 1: up in this bitch, one of the best to ever
- 42:36Speaker 1: do it, just because Terminator Aliens and Terminator two, you know,
- 42:40Speaker 1: historical run this guy went on and he's kind of
- 42:44Speaker 1: fucking shit in the bed now with Avatar, but you
- 42:46Speaker 1: know what he does, he can do whatever he wants
- 42:49Speaker 1: at this point, just with Terminator one and two alone,
- 42:52Speaker 1: you know, do whatever you want, big guy. But in
- 42:58Speaker 1: this movie too, he doesn't really great job.
- 43:00Speaker 2: I thought.
- 43:00Speaker 1: I thought the effects look great. It looks like you're
- 43:03Speaker 1: really under there. They probably were building miniatures and stuff
- 43:07Speaker 1: like that, especially when you see them like operating the
- 43:10Speaker 1: Titanic on the inside. But the uh, the big takeaway
- 43:14Speaker 1: from this movie for me is how similar it was
- 43:19Speaker 1: to the recent the current events that were happening at
- 43:22Speaker 1: the top the time. Like Leo goes in there. Basically
- 43:26Speaker 1: Zayin is clavicular and Leo is the ASU frat leader,
- 43:31Speaker 1: and Leo just straight up mog Zane and a surprising
- 43:34Speaker 1: turn of events because you would kind of you know,
- 43:36Speaker 1: Zayne isn't worried about Leo at all. Like Leo's on
- 43:39Speaker 1: the boat just like basically stealing his bitch right under
- 43:43Speaker 1: his nose, and Zayin doesn't even give a fuck.
- 43:46Speaker 2: He's just kind of like, yo, what, it's a little
- 43:49Speaker 2: poor piece of shit.
- 43:50Speaker 1: He's like, oh, you're running around like holding my fucking
- 43:53Speaker 1: fiance's hand the whole time and going dancing with her
- 43:55Speaker 1: and shit like that, and she seems like she's really
- 43:58Speaker 1: having a good time and she fucking hates my ass.
- 44:01Speaker 1: I'm not worried about that shit. I got too much
- 44:03Speaker 1: damn money, and you know, surprise, surprise, Leos straight up
- 44:10Speaker 1: steals his bitch. Another thing that surprised me, though, is
- 44:18Speaker 1: that I didn't remember about like Rose is a seventeen
- 44:23Speaker 1: year old in this movie, but after getting into it,
- 44:26Speaker 1: it makes perfect sense. She acts like a fucking seventeen
- 44:28Speaker 1: year old. The first interaction she has with fucking Jack
- 44:34Speaker 1: or whatever is the most seventeen year old shit I've
- 44:37Speaker 1: ever seen in my life. She basically just kind of like,
- 44:42Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't even know how to explain it.
- 44:44Speaker 1: She basically just acting like a dumb bitch the whole time,
- 44:48Speaker 1: and Jack's just kind of like, all right, yeah, I
- 44:50Speaker 1: just saved your life and shit, and She's just like, well, anyway,
- 44:53Speaker 1: you're being fucking rude to me now, so I don't
- 44:55Speaker 1: even want to talk to your fucking bitch ass. And
- 44:57Speaker 1: Jack's like, all right, then we'll see later, I guess.
- 45:00Speaker 1: And then she's like, what what you're gonna You're not
- 45:04Speaker 1: even gonna, you know, try to fucking talk to me
- 45:06Speaker 1: anymore or something. He's like, I don't know, you're the
- 45:07Speaker 1: one that said you didn't want to talk to me
- 45:10Speaker 1: or some shit like that, and then uh, and She's
- 45:12Speaker 1: like well I never you know, and shit like that
- 45:15Speaker 1: like some straight up mister bright side music video type
- 45:18Speaker 1: of shit on his ass. I don't know it was.
- 45:22Speaker 1: It was driving me nuts, honestly, the whole Rose character
- 45:25Speaker 1: in this movie. I know, it's like a pretty common
- 45:28Speaker 1: take anymore to to think that, like Rose is the
- 45:32Speaker 1: villain of the movie, because she obviously could have let
- 45:34Speaker 1: Jack on the fucking the door and he didn't have
- 45:37Speaker 1: to freeze to death in the fucking ocean or whatever.
- 45:41Speaker 1: But I think even before all that, she's just kind
- 45:45Speaker 1: of a fucking dumb ass. She's she's on this ship,
- 45:48Speaker 1: you know, she meets Jack and they start falling in
- 45:51Speaker 1: love and stuff like that and partying and having fun
- 45:54Speaker 1: and everything. And then she's got this other guy here, Zaying,
- 45:58Speaker 1: that's like a billionaire that wants to marry her, and
- 46:02Speaker 1: she is, you know, she doesn't want to marry him.
- 46:04Speaker 1: But hey, guess what the thing that they they do
- 46:07Speaker 1: talk about this she doesn't have to even marry him.
- 46:12Speaker 1: I don't know what the fucking deal is. I get
- 46:14Speaker 1: that her mom wants her to marry Zay. You know,
- 46:17Speaker 1: I can't think of his real name, so I'm just
- 46:18Speaker 1: calling him Zaying because it's played by Billy Zayin.
- 46:21Speaker 2: She doesn't have to marry him.
- 46:22Speaker 1: It's not like the Middle East or something where they're
- 46:24Speaker 1: gonna like chop her head off if she doesn't marry
- 46:26Speaker 1: this guy. She's just like her mom's just like, hey,
- 46:29Speaker 1: we're about out of fucking money, bitch, marry this fucking
- 46:32Speaker 1: rich guy or whatever. And she's just like, I don't
- 46:34Speaker 1: want to. I hate hanging out with rich people. They're
- 46:36Speaker 1: so fucking boring. I just want to hang out with
- 46:38Speaker 1: this goddamn poor guy that lives under a bridge and uh.
- 46:42Speaker 1: And she could do that as the thing. She could
- 46:44Speaker 1: just be like, hey, even if she didn't like go
- 46:47Speaker 1: be with Jack or whatever, she could just be like, actually, Mom,
- 46:51Speaker 1: I'm not gonna marry this motherfucker. I don't give a
- 46:53Speaker 1: shit if you have to sell your clothes and work
- 46:55Speaker 1: a regular job, because those are like the circumstances that
- 46:58Speaker 1: we're dealing with here. Her mom's base like, hey, we
- 47:01Speaker 1: used to be rich, but your fucking dad's dead or whatever,
- 47:03Speaker 1: and he didn't leave us anything, so we're running out
- 47:06Speaker 1: of damn money. Do you want to have to sell
- 47:08Speaker 1: all of our stuff? And it's like, yeah, you know,
- 47:11Speaker 1: why doesn't she just say like yeah, that's fine with me.
- 47:13Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck if you sell all of
- 47:14Speaker 1: her stuff. Obviously, she's like getting ready to kill herself.
- 47:18Speaker 1: At one point, she's getting ready to jump off the
- 47:20Speaker 1: back of the Titanic, like, you know, thirty minutes into
- 47:23Speaker 1: the movie and kill herself. And it's just like, yeah,
- 47:25Speaker 1: why don't you just tell your mom that be like, yeah,
- 47:27Speaker 1: I mean, I guess I'll marry this guy, but I'm
- 47:29Speaker 1: probably gonna kill myself.
- 47:31Speaker 2: Is that cool with you?
- 47:32Speaker 1: Her mom, you know, at that point might at least
- 47:34Speaker 1: listen and be like, yeah, you know what, maybe fucking
- 47:38Speaker 1: marry somebody else. We'll see, I'll get a job. It's
- 47:40Speaker 1: not that big a deal. Don't jump off the Titanic
- 47:43Speaker 1: and kill yourself, dumb bitch, and stuff like that. So yeah,
- 47:46Speaker 1: there's that, there's that whole angle to it where it's
- 47:48Speaker 1: like she's she's kind of making all this fucking drama
- 47:52Speaker 1: for no reason, and like Billy Zaying doesn't even really
- 47:55Speaker 1: seem to give a fuck. He's not like this guy.
- 47:57Speaker 1: That's like you get to a point later on in
- 48:00Speaker 1: the movie where yeah, he does become a piece of
- 48:02Speaker 1: shit and he does like smacker and stuff like that,
- 48:05Speaker 1: and he you know, he does the thing with the
- 48:07Speaker 1: kid when he's trying to get off the boat.
- 48:09Speaker 2: He's a shitty guy. Obviously.
- 48:11Speaker 1: I'm not like sticking up for Billy Zane's character in
- 48:14Speaker 1: this movie or anything like that. But as far as
- 48:16Speaker 1: like him and Rosa's relationship goes, he's he's just kind
- 48:20Speaker 1: of like telling her like, Yep, we're gonna get married,
- 48:22Speaker 1: which is the truth, and she's just kind of like, Oh,
- 48:24Speaker 1: I fucking you're disgusting. I fucking hate you and stuff
- 48:28Speaker 1: like that. But he's just kind of chilling the whole time.
- 48:30Speaker 1: He's just like, Nah, this is what I do. I'm
- 48:32Speaker 1: a fucking rich guy. Go hang out with my rich
- 48:34Speaker 1: guy friends and we talk about boring shit and drink
- 48:37Speaker 1: and smoke and whatever. You know what I'm saying. But
- 48:40Speaker 1: it doesn't make any sense. Like if she was being
- 48:42Speaker 1: forced into marriage or whatever, it would make a little
- 48:45Speaker 1: more sense. But the option is always there. And I
- 48:48Speaker 1: think even if she just told him like, hey, I
- 48:51Speaker 1: don't want to marry you, let's not get married, you know,
- 48:56Speaker 1: I don't think it would be that big a deal
- 48:57Speaker 1: to him. He's like a young guy too, and he's
- 49:00Speaker 1: got all this money and shit, it's not like she's
- 49:02Speaker 1: the only person out there for him to marry it.
- 49:05Speaker 2: It doesn't make.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Any fucking sense to me, honestly, Like, especially around this
- 49:08Speaker 1: time watching and I was like, I don't know, that
- 49:12Speaker 1: whole thing feels pretty weak, the whole story about this,
- 49:14Speaker 1: like you know, love triangle kind of thing that's going
- 49:18Speaker 1: on here. It doesn't hold much weight for me this
- 49:20Speaker 1: time around. The other thing that kind of stood out
- 49:24Speaker 1: to me this time is that they made Billy Zane's
- 49:26Speaker 1: character entirely too gay. Like half the time he's covered
- 49:30Speaker 1: in fucking foundation and his eyebrows are drawn on.
- 49:33Speaker 2: He doesn't need to look that gay.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Okay, they should have made him like a like cooler looking,
- 49:39Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I don't know what that
- 49:42Speaker 1: choice was all about, but I just cannot take this
- 49:45Speaker 1: guy fucking serious the whole time, you know what. It's
- 49:48Speaker 1: like almost the way that he looks it's the only
- 49:50Speaker 1: reason not to like him in the movie for the
- 49:53Speaker 1: most part. It's just like I can't get past that,
- 49:56Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I can't get past the
- 49:59Speaker 1: way he looks, his eyebrows, his hairline, his foundation, and shit,
- 50:03Speaker 1: if it wasn't for that, I would think he's a
- 50:05Speaker 1: pretty okay guy. But I remember thinking like, oh, this
- 50:08Speaker 1: guy's awful, like right off the bat, and it's really
- 50:11Speaker 1: just the way that he looks just you know, kind
- 50:14Speaker 1: of sucks to say, but it's the truth.
- 50:16Speaker 2: Huh.
- 50:17Speaker 1: So other than that, was there anything else to say
- 50:20Speaker 1: about The Titanic. It's a It's an interesting story, that's
- 50:25Speaker 1: for sure. I guess, like, cut all this fucking bullshit out. Yeah,
- 50:29Speaker 1: I think that's pretty much it. Other than like Rose
- 50:32Speaker 1: proves to also be a big dumb bitch at the
- 50:34Speaker 1: very end of the movie too, where she's just like,
- 50:36Speaker 1: here's this necklace that you're fucking looking for and she
- 50:39Speaker 1: throws it into the ocean again, and it's just like, hey, bitch,
- 50:42Speaker 1: why don't you throw yourself into the fucking ocean for once?
- 50:56Speaker 1: Get the fuck out of this movie already. So anyway, yeah,
- 51:00Speaker 1: I don't remember. I didn't rate it chapter two yet.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Chapter two is a one out of five. That movie sucked.
- 51:08Speaker 1: The Titanic three out of five still pretty decent, Still
- 51:11Speaker 1: holds up pretty well.
- 51:12Speaker 2: I thought.
- 51:13Speaker 1: I thought, like, yeah, the effects and everything, the weakest
- 51:16Speaker 1: part about it is the love triangle and kind of
- 51:18Speaker 1: the bullshit story or whatever where it's just like, all right,
- 51:22Speaker 1: I get it. You know, these guys are fucking in
- 51:25Speaker 1: a car or whatever and they're running around and just
- 51:29Speaker 1: a lot of it didn't add up. There's also the
- 51:31Speaker 1: whole thing with like the guy that's Billy Zane's like assistant,
- 51:35Speaker 1: why does he hate Jack so much? Billy Zane doesn't
- 51:39Speaker 1: have anything financially to gain from this marriage, is what
- 51:42Speaker 1: you find out. Like there's no money coming in it
- 51:45Speaker 1: for him, and if he's this like greedy asshole, you
- 51:47Speaker 1: think that would be the whole motivation. So why does
- 51:50Speaker 1: this guy give a fuck if she's running off with
- 51:53Speaker 1: Jack or not. But this guy's like ready to murder
- 51:55Speaker 1: Jack because, you know, because she's cheating on him with Jack.
- 52:02Speaker 1: And it just doesn't make any sense. Is it just
- 52:04Speaker 1: because he hates poor people? I guess that's like one
- 52:08Speaker 1: one reason you could come up with. But other than that,
- 52:10Speaker 1: I mean, it just what's the whole point of the movie.
- 52:13Speaker 1: It's just this guy that's like, yeah, I'm gonna fucking
- 52:16Speaker 1: handcuff you while the ship's sinking, and you know, talk
- 52:20Speaker 1: like basically threatening you with a gun. The whole time
- 52:23Speaker 1: because you're banging this seventeen year old girl like it
- 52:27Speaker 1: just doesn't really make any sense to me. But other
- 52:32Speaker 1: than that, pretty solid movie, and that's it. That's the
- 52:42Speaker 1: Wisdom Tooth movie marathon the Titanic Panic from the nineties.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Next week, I'm just gonna pick up where I left
- 52:49Speaker 1: off and watch the movie TwixT by Francis Ford Coppola.
- 52:54Speaker 1: I don't know much about this movie. I'm really interested
- 52:57Speaker 1: to check it out. I'm sure we're going to be
- 52:59Speaker 1: doing a little in depth look at Coppola's history and
- 53:02Speaker 1: some of his questionable decision making when it comes to
- 53:04Speaker 1: supporting child predators. That's definitely a hot topic in the
- 53:11Speaker 1: news lately. If you haven't heard about the Epstein Files,
- 53:15Speaker 1: I wonder if FFC Francis Ford Coppola might pop up
- 53:18Speaker 1: in those, because it gets a little bit more questionable
- 53:22Speaker 1: than probably what you're expecting. If you don't know about
- 53:25Speaker 1: his relationship with a certain director from a certain movie
- 53:30Speaker 1: called Jeepers, Creepers, We'll talk about that next week, because
- 53:35Speaker 1: I couldnot believe this shit when I first learned about it.
- 53:38Speaker 1: So thanks for listening, and good night.
- 54:15Speaker 3: No.
- 54:16Speaker 1: No, no, Not.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Of the of
- 55:12Speaker 1: Dou
