- Lucas: Hey everyone, welcome back. It is great to have you here for episode two hundred sixty-eight of Learn Italian with Fexingo. Luna: Hi! I am so glad we are inside today. After all that skiing and walking in the snow from last week, my toes are finally thawing out. Lucas: Yeah, totally. We spent a lot of time describing the cold outside. But now, let’s talk about what happens when you step into a cozy cabin. Luna: Oh, I love that idea. A wooden cabin, maybe some fire crackling? That sounds perfect right now. Lucas: Exactly. So today we are going to learn five phrases about being indoors, relaxing, and staying warm. We will take it slow. Luna: Okay, I am ready. Let’s start with the first one. What is the first phrase? Lucas: The first phrase is leggo un libro. It means 'I read a book.' Let’s say it together slowly. Leggo un libro. Luna: Leggo un libro. Like I am sitting by the window reading? Lucas: Perfect. That is exactly how it sounds. Now, say it normally, just a bit faster. Leggo un libro. Luna: Leggo un libro. Yeah, that feels natural. I can imagine holding a good novel while the snow falls outside. Lucas: It really does. And remember, leggo is the verb for reading. So if you are doing it right now, you are leggo un libro. Luna: Wait, I feel like I should do that more often. Okay, what is the next phrase? Lucas: The second phrase is bevo una cioccolata calda. This means 'I drink hot chocolate.' Bevo una cioccolata calda. Luna: Bevo una cioccolata calda. Oh, that is my favorite part of winter. The chocolate always helps. Lucas: Right. Bevo is the verb for drinking. So you are consuming something warm. Bevo una cioccolata calda. Luna: Bevo una cioccolata calda. Yeah. I can almost taste it. Is it sweet? Lucas: Usually yes. Especially in a cabin setting. You add marshmallows maybe. Bevo una cioccolata calda. Luna: Definitely. Okay, I am getting hungry just thinking about it. What is the third phrase? Lucas: The third phrase describes the heat source. It is il camino è acceso. This means 'the fireplace is lit.' Il camino è acceso. Luna: Il camino è acceso. I love saying that. It sounds very warm and inviting. Lucas: It does. Il camino is the fireplace. È acceso means it is turned on or lit. Il camino è acceso. Luna: Il camino è acceso. Yes. Imagine looking at those flames after being out in the freezing air. Lucas: That is the best feeling. You walk in, shake off the snow, and see il camino è acceso. Luna: Totally. Okay, fourth phrase please. I want to get comfortable. Lucas: The fourth phrase is mi siedo sul divano. It means 'I sit on the sofa.' Mi siedo sul divano. Luna: Mi siedo sul divano. Ah, finally resting my legs. That sounds amazing. Lucas: Mi siedo is reflexive. I sit myself down. Sul divano is on the sofa. Mi siedo sul divano. Luna: Mi siedo sul divano. I am sinking into the cushions right now. So cozy. Lucas: I bet. You are reading, you have chocolate, the fire is lit, and you are on the sofa. Perfect scene. Luna: It really is. What is the last phrase? I want to close with something warm. Lucas: The final phrase is che caldo che fa. This means 'how hot it is' or 'what warmth there is.' Che caldo che fa. Luna: Che caldo che fa. Wait, isn't it winter? Why would I say it is hot? Lucas: Good question. Inside the cabin, near the fire, it feels very warm compared to the cold outside. You sigh and say che caldo che fa. Luna: Oh, I get it. It is about the relief of the heat. Che caldo che fa. Yeah, that makes sense. Lucas: Exactly. It expresses comfort. Che caldo che fa. Say it one more time slowly. Che caldo che fa. Luna: Che caldo che fa. There it is. I feel so relaxed just saying these words. Lucas: Let’s review them quickly. Leggo un libro. Bevo una cioccolata calda. Il camino è acceso. Mi siedo sul divano. Che caldo che fa.
