- 0:00Speaker 1: Boulet Cap Show, Special Guests in Here, Mount Wes Moore Yay,
- 0:04Speaker 1: Cube Sure, three quarters in three Quarter, Miss Snoop Dogg,
- 0:07Speaker 1: Mister Snoopy Dogg, Somewhere Mining Cryptog, Miss and Snoopy, Missus
- 0:12Speaker 1: Snoopy Missing Snoop. Hey, Well, look, I'm so glad that
- 0:16Speaker 1: this album is actually here, because you know, it felt
- 0:18Speaker 1: like one of these like miss methodical albums that we
- 0:21Speaker 1: always hear about and then it never ends up coming out. Yeah,
- 0:25Speaker 1: how hard was it to everybody to like, you know,
- 0:27Speaker 1: this one was coming out? This ain't none of that,
- 0:28Speaker 1: this is this is for real, for real, for real,
- 0:30Speaker 1: for real. I was hoping it wasn't like Detok's two
- 0:32Speaker 1: time and thing. Man Like. We had many opportunities to
- 0:35Speaker 1: pull the trigger, but it was like should we right
- 0:38Speaker 1: And we discussed it as like you know, for intelligent minds,
- 0:42Speaker 1: you know, pow wow, and then we're like, what's that day?
- 0:45Speaker 1: That day could have been October twenty twenty. You could
- 0:47Speaker 1: have dropped the album. We could have dropped it all
- 0:49Speaker 1: of last year, anytime earlier this year. We just we
- 0:52Speaker 1: just felt like, let's do some things like get all
- 0:55Speaker 1: the merch together, get all the duction rug Get, you know,
- 0:58Speaker 1: and we did an NFT play, which you know, once
- 1:04Speaker 1: we put it out on the n f T, we
- 1:08Speaker 1: had to wait a certain amount of time before we
- 1:10Speaker 1: can actually put a different record out on the street.
- 1:14Speaker 1: This is a different record than than the n f T. Uh.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Some of the songs are the same, but most of
- 1:20Speaker 1: these are new. How how lucrative is the NFT play
- 1:23Speaker 1: is that? I mean because a lot of artists are
- 1:25Speaker 1: going in that direction. I mean Snoop pulled Doggie style
- 1:27Speaker 1: and all the death real stuff off of DSPs. Like,
- 1:31Speaker 1: you know, it's a thing where it was great for
- 1:33Speaker 1: us because we you know, got a great deal. But
- 1:40Speaker 1: you know, the n f T market, the whole crypto
- 1:43Speaker 1: market has been like going backwards ever since like Mother's Day.
- 1:48Speaker 1: So it just was not great timing for the group,
- 1:53Speaker 1: but it was lucrative for the group. So you know,
- 1:57Speaker 1: in a lot of ways. It worked in a lot
- 1:59Speaker 1: of ways. If we did it when it was a
- 2:01Speaker 1: bull market instead of a bear market, then it would
- 2:05Speaker 1: have did a lot better. You know, we always plan
- 2:09Speaker 1: to make sure it hit the street though, you know,
- 2:12Speaker 1: that was that was a you know, one of our
- 2:15Speaker 1: demands that yeah, we can do this NFT play. But
- 2:19Speaker 1: at some point this music gotta hit all platforms, you know, CDs,
- 2:25Speaker 1: We're making albums, We're doing everything you can do to
- 2:30Speaker 1: get this to the streets. And December nine is the date, Yeah, Friday.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I'm curious, man, because you guys all have very unique journeys.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Obviously both y'all are on Jive for a very long time.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Cube you've been a major label artist, you've gone independent. Nowadays,
- 2:46Speaker 1: it feels like the transparency of record deals is higher.
- 2:51Speaker 1: People are talking about it more in terms of like
- 2:54Speaker 1: some of these shitty deals that are getting offered. Our
- 2:55Speaker 1: Meek Mills talked about it a lot recently. What is
- 2:59Speaker 1: your guys is like, uh, thoughts on just like where
- 3:02Speaker 1: the game is and like artists becoming a lot more
- 3:04Speaker 1: self aware on some of the deals they're signing, because
- 3:06Speaker 1: I'm assuming like everybody's probably signed a deal that they're
- 3:08Speaker 1: not the craziest about, you know what I mean. And
- 3:10Speaker 1: you guys have seen all sides of the game, whether
- 3:13Speaker 1: it's doing the independent ship, doing the major label ship.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Well you know, my Westmore, we're doing it like one
- 3:18Speaker 1: at a time, so uh, we're not really like getting
- 3:23Speaker 1: buried up under contracts anything anything like that. We we
- 3:25Speaker 1: definitely the group has definitely gross quite a bit of
- 3:28Speaker 1: money before any anything ever. Drive Well, the tour has
- 3:31Speaker 1: been going cool. You guys a lot of tour d
- 3:33Speaker 1: show shows. We did really good on merch We did
- 3:36Speaker 1: really good with uh, you know, some early stuff we did,
- 3:39Speaker 1: like we appeared at the Triller event when Jake I
- 3:42Speaker 1: remember that. Yeah, that was a big payday. And you know,
- 3:45Speaker 1: we just kind of at the same fight Nate Robinson
- 3:48Speaker 1: took to the No. No, it was the one after, right,
- 3:50Speaker 1: it was one before he took the he took the
- 3:53Speaker 1: l before that fight, I believe, I can't remember, but
- 3:56Speaker 1: it was. It was, yeah, and I remember that was
- 3:58Speaker 1: it was in Atlanta. But you guys have been building this,
- 4:00Speaker 1: I mean, big has been out over a year. So yeah,
- 4:02Speaker 1: So it's it's like a it's like a business play man.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Everything is thought out in advance. When we're gonna drop
- 4:07Speaker 1: the album, when's the next album coming, what are the
- 4:09Speaker 1: visual is gonna do? Like, you know, what's the next
- 4:12Speaker 1: money plays. It's more like a business. And I think
- 4:14Speaker 1: that I think that this market right now for a
- 4:18Speaker 1: young artists, they don't have to just go sign to
- 4:20Speaker 1: a major label and get buried or do a three
- 4:22Speaker 1: sixty deal. They could really like go do deals with
- 4:25Speaker 1: different platforms in different type of spaces where the music
- 4:28Speaker 1: could live. It's so much, it's so many different places
- 4:31Speaker 1: that a song or an album, a project can go
- 4:33Speaker 1: right now. So you know you gotta just factor all
- 4:35Speaker 1: that in and not just do that old conventional one
- 4:38Speaker 1: street you know, like get it to the physical. You
- 4:42Speaker 1: can't do that, Like you gotta do a lot of stuff.
- 4:44Speaker 1: So I think it's a good time to like, uh,
- 4:47Speaker 1: you know, we got good leverage on this being is
- 4:49Speaker 1: that it's snoop and Cube forty is short and we
- 4:51Speaker 1: OG's and we solid. We didn't have we didn't have
- 4:53Speaker 1: to go in there and they're like, wh'll give you
- 4:55Speaker 1: a deal, but you got to sign on for like
- 4:56Speaker 1: seven albums, Like it wasn't that with us. What would you, Cube,
- 5:00Speaker 1: would you advise like a younger artist who's maybe got
- 5:02Speaker 1: like a like a solid local buzz they get you,
- 5:05Speaker 1: would you would you you know, give them advice to
- 5:09Speaker 1: explore the major label route or or try to stay
- 5:12Speaker 1: as independent as long as possible. Stay as independent as
- 5:16Speaker 1: long as possible, as long as you can you know,
- 5:19Speaker 1: when you do your music without a record label, you
- 5:22Speaker 1: own one hundred percent of it, and once you sign
- 5:25Speaker 1: with a record label, you're basically given them a percentage
- 5:30Speaker 1: of your work. So if you have the the discipline
- 5:37Speaker 1: and the resources to be an independent artist, then you
- 5:43Speaker 1: should do it. A lot of guys are and I
- 5:45Speaker 1: let forty speak on it, but a lot of guys are.
- 5:50Speaker 1: You know, they signed three sixty deals and that's like
- 5:53Speaker 1: one of the worst deals ever invented in man, So
- 5:59Speaker 1: some of them start. You know, you get real educated
- 6:03Speaker 1: on deals once you sign a bad one because you
- 6:05Speaker 1: realize why, why the money is not making it to me? Yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 1: well I haven't gotten any royalty checks. It's almost like
- 6:11Speaker 1: the last check you ever see is the advance. And
- 6:13Speaker 1: so they start to you know, nothing will teach you
- 6:18Speaker 1: more about the music business than signing a bad deal
- 6:22Speaker 1: and you figuring out why it's bad, right, and then
- 6:26Speaker 1: you become an expert. And I'll kick it over the
- 6:29Speaker 1: forty to give a few comments on it. Well, nowadays,
- 6:33Speaker 1: you know, the new era, the new generation has a
- 6:39Speaker 1: pretty damn good and I'm happy for him. And they're smart.
- 6:42Speaker 1: A lot of these junsters are smart. They don't have
- 6:45Speaker 1: to sign with a major major give you a good
- 6:47Speaker 1: if you like. I can't. I can't really put a
- 6:51Speaker 1: age group on am I talking to the mic, I
- 6:53Speaker 1: can't put an age on it. But just say you
- 6:56Speaker 1: just say you're eighteen or nineteen and you sign a
- 6:59Speaker 1: deal for three years and that label blow you up.
- 7:04Speaker 1: It might be it might be good for you. It
- 7:06Speaker 1: might be like they put they put the whole house
- 7:08Speaker 1: behind you. That might be cool because that's what you
- 7:11Speaker 1: need because you don't have the funding for it, the
- 7:15Speaker 1: financials for it. You don't have you don't have it.
- 7:17Speaker 1: So you you you know, you let you let them,
- 7:19Speaker 1: you know, do what they need to do with you.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Be smarter and make sure that you know, you negotiate
- 7:26Speaker 1: your masters and all that stuff. You know, how quick
- 7:29Speaker 1: you get them back and whatnot. You know what I'm saying.
- 7:31Speaker 1: But that can be that could be an advantage for
- 7:34Speaker 1: you if you're really young, you know what I mean.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And because because then once you get off that label,
- 7:41Speaker 1: then you got the districal kids of the world and
- 7:44Speaker 1: just distribution deals, you know, ninety ten and you know
- 7:47Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Those yeah, that kind of stuff, you know,
- 7:50Speaker 1: and that way you can control your own destiny and
- 7:52Speaker 1: you're getting all the gouda. You understand me. Keep your
- 7:55Speaker 1: masters right, you keep your masters care yeah, because it
- 8:00Speaker 1: could go the other way too. Some people sign you
- 8:03Speaker 1: and they don't do ship. You go out there and
- 8:06Speaker 1: do all the work and they get paid. You your
- 8:09Speaker 1: sofa and now they then they come out the world
- 8:13Speaker 1: and won't want won't they cut? And you feel like, man,
- 8:16Speaker 1: y'all didn't do nothing. But so you got to just
- 8:18Speaker 1: be careful. You got to really know who you getting
- 8:22Speaker 1: in business with and and not just be happy to
- 8:26Speaker 1: be signed. To understand that this is a business that's
- 8:30Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of minds, a lot of
- 8:32Speaker 1: land mines in the major industry, the major label industry
- 8:36Speaker 1: with a You come in that door with those smiles
- 8:38Speaker 1: and those meetings, and they bring out the whole staff
- 8:41Speaker 1: and it's like catering and they love you and they
- 8:44Speaker 1: sign it out and the check is big and you're
- 8:46Speaker 1: happy and celebrating and the product comes out and it
- 8:49Speaker 1: does whatever. But somewhere, you know, when I say land mines,
- 8:53Speaker 1: you can't really get mad at the right person. You
- 8:56Speaker 1: call up there yelling and screaming, they're gonna cheve you.
- 8:59Speaker 1: You go up there at the ads, they're gonna chef you.
- 9:01Speaker 1: You sit there, your next single come out of your
- 9:03Speaker 1: second album and it's stellar. They gonna shove you, and
- 9:06Speaker 1: it's like you're still a really good artist, and you
- 9:08Speaker 1: get a lot of really good artists lost in that
- 9:10Speaker 1: major label saw. So if you go there, know what
- 9:12Speaker 1: you're doing, stay independent, you in charge of me, You
- 9:15Speaker 1: stay independent. You know. That's another thing. That's the advantage
- 9:18Speaker 1: I had over many people that started off on major labels.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I was independent for many moons. I was independent six
- 9:26Speaker 1: years before I even you know, I unsigned my major
- 9:30Speaker 1: distribution deal into nineteen ninety four with Jive. I came
- 9:35Speaker 1: in the game in nineteen eighty eight independent, so it
- 9:38Speaker 1: was six years I had to you know, I went
- 9:41Speaker 1: to college to learn. When I say college, I'm talking
- 9:43Speaker 1: about just music industry college, you know, unwillingly, you know
- 9:47Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So I just went and I had
- 9:49Speaker 1: to learn. I was in it by force, not by choice.
- 9:52Speaker 1: So then when I sign my distribution deal, it was
- 9:54Speaker 1: great because I already had to demand. You know what
- 9:57Speaker 1: I'm saying. I knew what I wanted and it was great.
- 9:59Speaker 1: So I'm independent still right now, I control my own destiny.
- 10:05Speaker 1: But my whole thing is is this. Nowadays, you could
- 10:08Speaker 1: do what the majors do as a as an independent
- 10:10Speaker 1: young artist. All you gotta do is hire indis. You
- 10:13Speaker 1: can hire indie radio people. You know, it's all kinds
- 10:16Speaker 1: of stuff you can do and it's really up to you.
- 10:18Speaker 1: You can. You can promote your sec social media. Is
- 10:22Speaker 1: there content? All that work? Your content on the social
- 10:26Speaker 1: media is the biggest playfor your directs a consumer. Now exactly,
- 10:29Speaker 1: you needed to deal to get into the records. Now
- 10:31Speaker 1: you're locked in. You don't have to press up hard
- 10:33Speaker 1: CDs and all that stuff. You just you can. We
- 10:36Speaker 1: can go in there right right now, make a song
- 10:38Speaker 1: right now today, right now, put the beat up, make
- 10:41Speaker 1: a slap. Had it shit on iTunes in twenty four hours.
- 10:44Speaker 1: So you got too done. Joint project together Cube, you're
- 10:48Speaker 1: part of I mean we're talking about groups. I mean
- 10:51Speaker 1: West Side Connection, NWA. West Sid Connection to me was
- 10:53Speaker 1: like the first like super group. I mean, NWA y'all
- 10:57Speaker 1: started together, So I don't consider like y'all pulling together.
- 11:00Speaker 1: But West Side Connection was a supergroup for real? What
- 11:05Speaker 1: is for you being a part of these group situations
- 11:09Speaker 1: and these group albums that are historical. What is the
- 11:12Speaker 1: process like now with Mount Westmore? How different is it?
- 11:16Speaker 1: I mean, I've been with groups, but nobody's been as
- 11:18Speaker 1: big as the group. I mean now, of course, you know,
- 11:23Speaker 1: these guys are platinum selling artists that's been in the
- 11:28Speaker 1: game over thirty years, some thirty five, and they're superstars.
- 11:36Speaker 1: And so you know, with n WA, we were all
- 11:39Speaker 1: starting together. Nobody was a superstar Mount Wesmore, I mean,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I mean west Side connection. We were all kind of
- 11:49Speaker 1: in the same clique, and it all made sense. Here.
- 11:54Speaker 1: These are guys that we're friends, and it started with
- 12:01Speaker 1: a friendship and respect and thirty years of admiring each other.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And to get in a group with those guys like
- 12:11Speaker 1: I feel like I can rely on them, you know,
- 12:16Speaker 1: more than I even relied in NWA. You know, it
- 12:20Speaker 1: was a lot of you know, Dre's the ship now,
- 12:23Speaker 1: but back then it was arguing. You know, we was
- 12:27Speaker 1: trying to get it right. We're seeing the movie. Yeah,
- 12:29Speaker 1: so uh, you know, it's it's been great to just
- 12:35Speaker 1: relax and not have to, you know, spearhead everything and
- 12:39Speaker 1: be the front thinker or the one coming up with
- 12:43Speaker 1: all the ideas or this or that, you know, not
- 12:46Speaker 1: saying that I had to do it with those other groups,
- 12:48Speaker 1: but I trust these guys more than I trusted the
- 12:52Speaker 1: other guys because we were kind of in the trenches together,
- 12:55Speaker 1: except for MAYBEWC, who's obviously still comes out on state is.
- 13:00Speaker 1: You know, we grew up in the same neighborhood, so
- 13:03Speaker 1: we grew up rapping against each other. We grew up
- 13:06Speaker 1: playing football against each other. Yeah, you know, Duve is amazing,
- 13:13Speaker 1: you know, but you know he you know, he's a
- 13:19Speaker 1: He's an artist that I'm friends with from from childhood.
- 13:23Speaker 1: These are artists that I grew up buying their records,
- 13:27Speaker 1: you know, dub I help them put together some of
- 13:29Speaker 1: his records. So it's a difference. I'm a fan of
- 13:33Speaker 1: these guys, and I wasn't necessarily just a fan of
- 13:39Speaker 1: those guys. I was friends and I like what they do.
- 13:43Speaker 1: So it's different and it's easier to be with superstars
- 13:48Speaker 1: then than just guys that you just put a group
- 13:51Speaker 1: together with. What up, y'all? We got to stop the
- 13:54Speaker 1: interview real quick, tell you about our partners at my
- 13:55Speaker 1: BOOKIY man, Look, it's so much to gamble on right now.
- 13:58Speaker 1: We got World Cup soccer, we got games coming up,
- 14:01Speaker 1: NBA basketball, of course, NFL man, we're getting into the
- 14:05Speaker 1: playoffs in a few weeks, well in like six weeks
- 14:07Speaker 1: or something like that. With that being said, this win
- 14:10Speaker 1: some money, all right, Go to my bookie right now,
- 14:13Speaker 1: sign up with that promo code Bootleg, and they will
- 14:15Speaker 1: match your deposit up to one thousand dollars. That's free
- 14:19Speaker 1: money to gamble with. That's free money. What are we
- 14:22Speaker 1: talking about, my bookie. Let's talk about the props. You
- 14:26Speaker 1: could bet on all kinds of player props, NBA points,
- 14:29Speaker 1: will Yanni's win the MVP, you could do futures on
- 14:32Speaker 1: the awards season for the NBA, so much going on.
- 14:34Speaker 1: You could also still bet on the NFL MVP odds
- 14:36Speaker 1: as well. There's just so much ways to get money
- 14:38Speaker 1: on my bookie. But what's most important is that they're
- 14:41Speaker 1: giving you free money. You sign up in my bookie
- 14:43Speaker 1: right now, you use the promo code Bootleg, and they
- 14:46Speaker 1: won't match your first deposit up to one thousand dollars.
- 14:50Speaker 1: That's right, free money. What are we doing? Head over there,
- 14:54Speaker 1: put us some bets and let's try to win some
- 14:56Speaker 1: fucking money together. All right, my bookie, use the promo
- 14:59Speaker 1: code Bootleg. Let's get back to the interview. Can you
- 15:01Speaker 1: guys speak to like there's always like an told like
- 15:06Speaker 1: rivalry between Northern California and Southern California, and I'm not
- 15:10Speaker 1: I never heard of one ever in my life. Like,
- 15:13Speaker 1: out of my thirty five years in hip hop music
- 15:16Speaker 1: putting music on the ship, I have never Now, if
- 15:18Speaker 1: you want to talk about br before that, before Wrap
- 15:21Speaker 1: for streets, I don't think it was a rival. It
- 15:23Speaker 1: was just the game the streets, you know what I mean.
- 15:26Speaker 1: That's a fun going on in prisons and not hip
- 15:31Speaker 1: hop has never been in hip hop, not hip hop.
- 15:33Speaker 1: It's always been supportive. I think, Uh, I think we
- 15:37Speaker 1: admire each other for what we don't do. You know. Uh,
- 15:43Speaker 1: the energy, the flavor that that Northern California Bay Area
- 15:51Speaker 1: artists bring is something different, new fresh. I'm always looking
- 15:56Speaker 1: forward to seeing what it is. And it's different than
- 16:00Speaker 1: than the Southern California flavor. And I think vice versa.
- 16:05Speaker 1: You know, they hear stuff from from down here that
- 16:08Speaker 1: they like, Oh damn, now, don't they on the whole
- 16:11Speaker 1: new new page. You know, we we're so similar. But
- 16:15Speaker 1: we were different. It's like cousins. You know, y'all blood related,
- 16:20Speaker 1: but your household is a little different than your cousin's household.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I do feel like the Bay is like the I mean,
- 16:26Speaker 1: the most underratedly influential region in all of rap. If
- 16:29Speaker 1: you just think of like we got sonically slang, I mean,
- 16:33Speaker 1: you know, I think of like guys like the Pack,
- 16:36Speaker 1: how they influenced the whole generation, like twelve ten or
- 16:38Speaker 1: twelve years ago, like obviously forty short you guys, are
- 16:41Speaker 1: you know on the Mount West Moore? For sure? Obviously
- 16:46Speaker 1: the record with p Low on it very Bay Area.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I feel like I'm like, who's kind of picking the beats,
- 16:54Speaker 1: who's kind of helped A and R in it? And like,
- 16:56Speaker 1: would you guys say it is like a which region
- 17:00Speaker 1: sonically is winning? The Bay or La on the album?
- 17:03Speaker 1: We had to have a balance, It had to come
- 17:05Speaker 1: from different ways. So you listen to if you heard
- 17:07Speaker 1: the album, you listen to the song have a Nice Day,
- 17:10Speaker 1: fuck You song. It's definitely that's definitely like Doctor dre
- 17:14Speaker 1: Influence produced by Fred Records, Lace You Up, definitely like
- 17:19Speaker 1: SoCal All Day Activated. You know, it's it's on there
- 17:23Speaker 1: and then you know, you got songs that are on
- 17:24Speaker 1: the extreme other spectrum of like a free game, and
- 17:28Speaker 1: and and yeah the baby basically mean the two big
- 17:31Speaker 1: records a strip shout out to Plow, that's my bro.
- 17:34Speaker 1: But at the same time, if you leave the state
- 17:36Speaker 1: of California, we're here. If you leave here, their ears
- 17:40Speaker 1: just here. West Coast. Don't hear that a little distinct
- 17:43Speaker 1: that a Bayary person and an l A person would
- 17:45Speaker 1: hear in the song. And I think that the West
- 17:49Speaker 1: Coast when you get us all in the same room,
- 17:52Speaker 1: we stand up together. We always have. You put Warren
- 17:55Speaker 1: g and DJ Quick in the room that we all
- 17:57Speaker 1: we West Coast, we California boys. We like we ride together.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Like for us, it's not on basketball obviously, it's sports
- 18:04Speaker 1: and stuff. You know, you gotta you gotta have. We're
- 18:06Speaker 1: all riding with the Big three. But when it comes
- 18:08Speaker 1: to like you know, the professional teams. But we definitely
- 18:13Speaker 1: feed off each other off the Bay. In the Bay
- 18:15Speaker 1: we got a lot of Doctor Drem's in Bay Area music.
- 18:18Speaker 1: We got a lot from Drey, you know what I'm saying. Recently,
- 18:22Speaker 1: I think you know producers like like like Mustard, he
- 18:26Speaker 1: kind of like, you know, grabbed a little bit of
- 18:28Speaker 1: that Bay energy and his way. Of course, we don't
- 18:30Speaker 1: got a gang of lingo from the Bay. Yeah, but
- 18:33Speaker 1: you know so it's like it's just we we are one.
- 18:37Speaker 1: But like he said, we like cousins and there is
- 18:39Speaker 1: no feud, don't I have not seen the feud or
- 18:42Speaker 1: the competition who could come with the hottest records. We
- 18:45Speaker 1: really and our young rappers when you get to the
- 18:48Speaker 1: gass and all of them come out, they hanging out
- 18:50Speaker 1: with the Kendricks. Ain't no, it ain't no animis. I
- 18:53Speaker 1: ain't heard of no animosity ever. Out of my whole history,
- 18:56Speaker 1: every era when the game came in l A, it's
- 18:59Speaker 1: never been you guys. I wasna say, have you guys
- 19:01Speaker 1: had the bipp and talk with Snoop and Cube about
- 19:03Speaker 1: when you guys go do promo in the bay, like,
- 19:04Speaker 1: don't leave nothing in the car. They know, they already
- 19:07Speaker 1: know because they besides us Cuban Snoop, they got Barrier
- 19:11Speaker 1: fam too. We all, we all, we all locked in.
- 19:14Speaker 1: We all. Yeah, that's nothing. What I'm saying the warrant
- 19:18Speaker 1: she got real blood cousins in the field on the
- 19:21Speaker 1: vill from Oville in Oakland. Yeah, you know, going on, man, Yeah,
- 19:26Speaker 1: I was. I got cousin, and I got cousin in Anglewood,
- 19:28Speaker 1: like I got cousin all over the place. I was
- 19:29Speaker 1: born on Sunset Boulevard. Man, that's crazy. I got a
- 19:32Speaker 1: whole million first cousins in LA. Not only are you
- 19:35Speaker 1: guys obviously historical artists, great discographies, uh, but you guys
- 19:40Speaker 1: are all moguls within your own right and like I
- 19:43Speaker 1: mean some of the biggest moguls and music Snoop Dogg
- 19:46Speaker 1: is killing the crypto space. He's just killing everything. He
- 19:49Speaker 1: bought that a bunch of movies too, Yeah, he on
- 19:51Speaker 1: his movie. So speaking of movies, Cube Vision, speaking of
- 19:54Speaker 1: locked In, all of the liquor we're drinking, speaking of
- 19:56Speaker 1: the Big Three, the goon with the spoon, ice cream Man,
- 20:00Speaker 1: what is you guys? Are you guys like passing ideas
- 20:03Speaker 1: around in terms of just like business opportunities and shit,
- 20:06Speaker 1: because I do feel like, you know, there's there's this.
- 20:09Speaker 1: It's kind of a very unicorn situation. And not only
- 20:11Speaker 1: have historical artists, but historical businessmen in the group together
- 20:15Speaker 1: without a doubt. You know, we we started, you know,
- 20:18Speaker 1: not just a group. We gotta Mound wes Moore LLC.
- 20:22Speaker 1: So it's a business, and you know, we funnel great
- 20:26Speaker 1: ideas into the business. You know when it's when it's right.
- 20:30Speaker 1: We let everybody know this is something that we should
- 20:32Speaker 1: all attack that as a group and do it. But
- 20:36Speaker 1: I know, I know we all involved in investment groups.
- 20:40Speaker 1: I get to hint, hint, we should start them Mount
- 20:42Speaker 1: wes More Investment Group. Yeah, well, DC, let's do it.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Take him out wes Moore profits and put them in
- 20:48Speaker 1: some businesses. Real talk, any new stuff coming from you? Forty?
- 20:53Speaker 1: I feel like every other month there's like a new
- 20:54Speaker 1: product I can eat or drink. So since the plandemic,
- 20:58Speaker 1: I recorded over seventy songs since since I'm talking about
- 21:01Speaker 1: since we finished the Mount wes Moore album because the
- 21:04Speaker 1: grit done quick. But anyway, yeah, I got a Rule
- 21:06Speaker 1: of Thumb coming. That's that's my that's two albums, oh
- 21:11Speaker 1: Rule of Thumb. And I talked to Cban. I'm a
- 21:13Speaker 1: team player. I don't know if it's possible for you
- 21:15Speaker 1: to not drop a double album. I know every time
- 21:18Speaker 1: drops it's a double album, it's a triple album. It's
- 21:20Speaker 1: it's I think you put an EP out during the
- 21:22Speaker 1: pandemic and I was surprised that you had an EP
- 21:24Speaker 1: and not like a full project, right right right, Yeah, no,
- 21:27Speaker 1: no EPs, no more. I did EPs when I was young,
- 21:29Speaker 1: and I dropped one. I dropped one that I felt
- 21:31Speaker 1: I needed to put out because it was on my heart.
- 21:33Speaker 1: It was my real assignment. Before they were saying he
- 21:34Speaker 1: understood the assignment, it was really my assignment to drop it.
- 21:39Speaker 1: It was me as a little two year old kid,
- 21:42Speaker 1: three year old kid, standing standing in front of a
- 21:46Speaker 1: garbage can. It was a EP, but it was had
- 21:49Speaker 1: some great songs on there, and it was rule of
- 21:50Speaker 1: Thumb's next rule of Thumb is next rule of Thumb
- 21:54Speaker 1: to two albums. And I don't know if I'm gonna
- 21:56Speaker 1: drop him exactly at the same time or a week apart,
- 21:58Speaker 1: but slaps, I got a couple more features I need.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I need one. I already told Mount Westmore, I'm taking
- 22:06Speaker 1: over this one song that I wanted, and they they
- 22:09Speaker 1: agreed that I can have it, So I'm slapping that
- 22:11Speaker 1: on it, and then I mean it slaps. I got
- 22:15Speaker 1: features I got and I'm on their hold of my own.
- 22:18Speaker 1: So you always have the features online and you always
- 22:20Speaker 1: tapped in with the younger generation for always tapped in
- 22:22Speaker 1: with the younger generation, you know, And I ain't no
- 22:25Speaker 1: slacking in my mac and my lingos up to par
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm not trying to be young. I ain't trying to
- 22:29Speaker 1: be young, and I'm just trying to have a happy
- 22:30Speaker 1: medium while I'm right there and I'm gassing and I'm
- 22:33Speaker 1: ahead of my time, you know what I'm saying. I'm
- 22:35Speaker 1: gonna ask y'all, because you guys all have classic bodies
- 22:38Speaker 1: of work, solo cube, what is if you had to,
- 22:41Speaker 1: what is your your magnum opus of your discography? What's
- 22:45Speaker 1: your favorite album in your discography? Who do you think
- 22:49Speaker 1: is the best? Obviously America's most one, got five mics
- 22:51Speaker 1: in the sore Predator, you got Letho a jection. I
- 22:54Speaker 1: mean we're going. I would say Death Certificate that you're
- 22:56Speaker 1: probably the one because it's it's the most dynamic, you know.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I think that's a great record. Uh, Predator is a
- 23:07Speaker 1: pretty good record, Laugh Now, Cry Later is a good one,
- 23:11Speaker 1: but Death Certificate is probably the cream of the crop.
- 23:14Speaker 1: What about for your short album? That's the album probably
- 23:19Speaker 1: the best too short album is probably Getting It album
- 23:21Speaker 1: number ten, that's my favorite that's the that's the WHOA
- 23:26Speaker 1: Got Orange cover that was on my man I had
- 23:28Speaker 1: when I was a kid. Production team that had been
- 23:30Speaker 1: working together for like five albums. Shorty b At Banks
- 23:33Speaker 1: Pee Wee myself, we were the core of like a
- 23:37Speaker 1: production team that made a lot of music. It was
- 23:40Speaker 1: a cohesive sound, it was. And before that, my top
- 23:46Speaker 1: seller was Life Is Too Short. That's like classics. That's like,
- 23:49Speaker 1: that's the only double platinum I had. But me, when
- 23:52Speaker 1: I listened to music and the production, it's definitely getting it.
- 23:54Speaker 1: That's the I was gonna ask you because you also
- 23:57Speaker 1: like over the year short, like because you you guys
- 24:00Speaker 1: have all been in this shit since the eighties, right,
- 24:03Speaker 1: But like it's crazy when you listen to Life's Too Short,
- 24:07Speaker 1: and I can't imagine like the shit you were saying
- 24:11Speaker 1: on some of them records. Well, I used to have
- 24:14Speaker 1: a technique where I kind of still do it. But
- 24:16Speaker 1: I had a technique where before I would like write songs,
- 24:19Speaker 1: I would just write down the craziest stuff I can
- 24:21Speaker 1: think of, and just like you know, I guess it
- 24:23Speaker 1: would be like the shock value of like a song,
- 24:25Speaker 1: like cuss words had to be like at the time,
- 24:27Speaker 1: like what the fuck or blow jow Betty had to
- 24:29Speaker 1: be like people were like, what is going on? So
- 24:31Speaker 1: was like really long and there's like a lot of
- 24:33Speaker 1: rapping in like there's no hook on the ye the
- 24:35Speaker 1: hook don't come like forty eight bars and you said,
- 24:38Speaker 1: blow jow Betty's a true story. Yeah, I killed her.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Oh that's terrible. She chunked on thespierm and died. But
- 24:44Speaker 1: it was like so far back before social media and
- 24:46Speaker 1: all that stuff. It didn't really get out there like that.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Are you saying the Statute of Limitations is past? I
- 24:50Speaker 1: mean didn't. It doesn't exist. There's no victim, there's no
- 24:53Speaker 1: case to it. You have to go do some super forensics. Man,
- 24:58Speaker 1: forty what's your best this album? Because you got a
- 25:02Speaker 1: couple you could go with. There's a couple of errors
- 25:03Speaker 1: we could go with. Yeah, can I say, can I
- 25:06Speaker 1: go by the errors? Yeah? Of course. In the nineties
- 25:09Speaker 1: it was okay, all right, one you might tell you
- 25:21Speaker 1: what your favorite you album? Come on, man, it's easy. No,
- 25:25Speaker 1: it ain't. No, it's not I have got two favorites.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Then keep saying two favorites I got like I got hello,
- 25:32Speaker 1: Come on, man, you're dealing with a dude that got
- 25:34Speaker 1: more top two hundred Billboard the album entries in the
- 25:39Speaker 1: history of hip hop. Listen, listen, listen, listen, listen, use
- 25:44Speaker 1: your ears and listen. Let me ask you for him,
- 25:46Speaker 1: let me answer you for him. His favorite forty album
- 25:49Speaker 1: is all the forty albums. Give me one, give me one.
- 25:53Speaker 1: That's let me tell you the one you want me
- 25:56Speaker 1: you I've can tell you something, The Game album. Give
- 25:59Speaker 1: me two of them. I'm gonna give you two. Okay,
- 26:01Speaker 1: give you two in a major way. Okay, and Element
- 26:07Speaker 1: of Surprise double album them the sickest albums ever did
- 26:12Speaker 1: and and uh and don't not not not excluding get
- 26:16Speaker 1: a report. Cars in the two in the two thousands
- 26:20Speaker 1: was like, in a major way, my favorite artwork. You
- 26:23Speaker 1: got some legendary favorite art work was in a major
- 26:25Speaker 1: way artwork when I was in I was, you know,
- 26:27Speaker 1: cooking your on the gumbo pot, you know, making soup
- 26:31Speaker 1: between all of us and Snoop Dogg. Amazing. Oh for sure,
- 26:36Speaker 1: artwork has been amazing. For sure. Just forget about the
- 26:39Speaker 1: music and just the album covers of like legendary hundred

- 28:10Speaker 1: artist that y'all are fans of. That y'all respect you
- 28:12Speaker 1: guys are actually listening to in your car when you're
- 28:14Speaker 1: riding around. If any I would say, uh, the boyfriend this,
- 28:20Speaker 1: it's two times on some pimp and Ship. He going crazy.
- 28:22Speaker 1: His whole album is about pimping, is it. I interviewed
- 28:25Speaker 1: him and he's like, I'm bringing the pimp and Ship back. Well,
- 28:27Speaker 1: he's his gas that he's spitting his gas sugar free. Yeah,
- 28:32Speaker 1: rather give you my bitch during the interviewer because he
- 28:34Speaker 1: never heard of sugar Free and his whole his whole
- 28:36Speaker 1: album is about pimping. Bro let me play something. Yeah.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I like him. He carrying himself. Well, he's doing a
- 28:42Speaker 1: great job. I got a couple of casts out of
- 28:44Speaker 1: my area. I like a lot Russell, not just man.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I was staying right outside the crest. Okay, yeah, for
- 28:53Speaker 1: sure was active over there. That's seven eleven and Dad
- 28:58Speaker 1: I was. I would have to say, it's a bunch
- 29:00Speaker 1: trouble from the Bay. It's you know, Uh Simba killed
- 29:03Speaker 1: him with the free you got Simba, you got, uh,
- 29:05Speaker 1: you got, uh, the boys bank you got? You got?
- 29:10Speaker 1: Who else? You got? What you got? Blast out of
- 29:14Speaker 1: rich Man, shout out too short and have my favorite
- 29:16Speaker 1: line on the Pilo album. There's so many you talk
- 29:18Speaker 1: about having a bitch make money off for pee hoole.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Oh yeah. I was riding on the Bay Bridge listening
- 29:24Speaker 1: to the Plow album and I was like, that is
- 29:26Speaker 1: the most classic nineteen eighty nine too short shit to
- 29:29Speaker 1: say in twenty twenty two. But you know, I got
- 29:33Speaker 1: so many people to say, but we got it. Like
- 29:35Speaker 1: you know, Kendrick is another level of like what hip
- 29:39Speaker 1: hop should be doing. And he's like never cease to
- 29:42Speaker 1: amaze with his visuals, with his stage performance and with
- 29:45Speaker 1: his songs. Like he's just prolific period. So he's he's
- 29:50Speaker 1: on another I'm proud of the West Coast for creating
- 29:52Speaker 1: that guy. Yeah, what about you, QB nobody nobody. I
- 29:57Speaker 1: like that. I mean shit, I respect that room. I
- 29:58Speaker 1: only fuck with you know, when I'm making music, I
- 30:02Speaker 1: don't need I only listen to what I'm making. I
- 30:06Speaker 1: respect that old I don't want to be influenced by nobody. Yeah,
- 30:11Speaker 1: little babies and ships. It's a bunch of artists out there.
- 30:14Speaker 1: All I want to do is just screaming shout people
- 30:16Speaker 1: out because I'm letting letting them know I recognize them.
- 30:19Speaker 1: It's a whole bunch of people. I want to say.
- 30:21Speaker 1: But I can't be money bag. I can't be influenced
- 30:24Speaker 1: because I'm forty and there's on one of one. There's
- 30:26Speaker 1: no one on this planet that throw like a frisbee
- 30:29Speaker 1: that wrapped in caligraphy. Have you heard about West Moore album?
- 30:32Speaker 1: I have not heard it yet. So when you listen,
- 30:34Speaker 1: I heard like the singles, you know, I haven't heard
- 30:36Speaker 1: the album. It's crazy, man, When you listen to the album,
- 30:38Speaker 1: give me an email address. I see. When you listen
- 30:40Speaker 1: to the album, it's gonna feel really good as you
- 30:43Speaker 1: listen to it. But the one thing you will notice
- 30:46Speaker 1: is that we're not pandering to the new sound I'm
- 30:49Speaker 1: so happy you did not do that trying to be
- 30:52Speaker 1: something that we're not, and we're alome. Imagine if I,
- 30:54Speaker 1: like if I got the Mount wes Moore album and
- 30:56Speaker 1: there was like some trapped out seventy four bps, I
- 30:59Speaker 1: would be disgusted. We're also not trying to be nineteen
- 31:01Speaker 1: ninety four. We're in there where it's like this. I
- 31:05Speaker 1: want to hear these guys sound like this right now. Yo,
- 31:08Speaker 1: Between the three of y'all, I'm not sure there's an
- 31:10Speaker 1: artist that you guys haven't worked with. Obviously, you've worked
- 31:13Speaker 1: with Pac before, You've worked with Hove Biggie. I mean,
- 31:15Speaker 1: we go on and on. I mean Cube shit. I
- 31:18Speaker 1: was just listening to the grand finale on the Little
- 31:21Speaker 1: John on the East Side Boys album and I forgot
- 31:23Speaker 1: Cube was on this ship and I was working out
- 31:25Speaker 1: is there for each of you guys? Is there a
- 31:27Speaker 1: feature that has not happened yet that just for whatever reason,
- 31:31Speaker 1: the planets didn't align and you didn't You don't have
- 31:34Speaker 1: a song with them yet. Nas. I love to do
- 31:40Speaker 1: a song with Nas and Cube Crazy. You know, Rock Kim.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I think everybody in the MC life wanted to do
- 31:50Speaker 1: a song with Rock Kim at some point. You know,
- 31:54Speaker 1: these are the ogs I think I could do a
- 31:56Speaker 1: good song with Buster, Yeah, do a dope song together.
- 32:03Speaker 1: You know, these are the ones that I think about
- 32:06Speaker 1: that I know we could probably do something crazy. For me,
- 32:10Speaker 1: it was always uh, it's just one answer. It was
- 32:12Speaker 1: always like me Missy and timbling on the same record.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I wanted that that would still possible. Yeah, that would
- 32:19Speaker 1: have been in what About You forty? I would say, uh,
- 32:24Speaker 1: jay Z nas Q, Tip karras one, Uh, Missy, who else?
- 32:34Speaker 1: I love to do a song with Eminem people trick Daddy.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I love trick Daddy. He's ready to trick. That would
- 32:40Speaker 1: have been Yeah. And also, and like I said, I
- 32:43Speaker 1: wanted to just address the Eminem situation. A lot of
- 32:45Speaker 1: his fans thought that I was dissing him. No, I
- 32:48Speaker 1: can never do that. He's one of the greatest MC's
- 32:49Speaker 1: that ever did it and got away with it. Then
- 32:51Speaker 1: he do his job right. But I was dating Somebody
- 32:54Speaker 1: had asked me who would win in a versus battle,
- 32:59Speaker 1: but Eminem and bust the rhyme, And I said, bust
- 33:03Speaker 1: the rhyme versus just because versus just performers. Yeah, that's
- 33:09Speaker 1: all I'm saying I wasn't knocking imminent. This is like
- 33:11Speaker 1: a top got a lot of his so, you know,
- 33:15Speaker 1: he get the party going here. It's crazy like live
- 33:17Speaker 1: Bust is like it's like him tech dying and like,
- 33:19Speaker 1: I don't know, that's all. That's all I meant a
- 33:21Speaker 1: lot of sweat. Yeah, that's what I meant. I wasn't trying.
- 33:23Speaker 1: I would never just eminem. He one of the greats,
- 33:26Speaker 1: if not. I went to a Bust the show and
- 33:29Speaker 1: he called me on stage and hugged me. I'm still man,
- 33:32Speaker 1: you guys a sweat hood. He just hugged me. His
- 33:36Speaker 1: energy is his energy is incredible. He's a great guy.
- 33:39Speaker 1: He just drenched me. But I got a wrong with him. Yeah,
- 33:43Speaker 1: we had a great versus right. It's amazing you were
- 33:46Speaker 1: fucking I was on Mango scout off, drinking out the bottle.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Nobody has decided to have fun like we did. Nobody
- 33:55Speaker 1: it was my brother. It was the fun is doing
- 33:56Speaker 1: this with my brother. Man, everybody got this different energy.
- 34:00Speaker 1: It was the funnest to watch. I really really enjoyed
- 34:05Speaker 1: their verse. It feels like the versus thing's over, right,
- 34:08Speaker 1: But did they ever approach you to do something. Yeah,
- 34:11Speaker 1: who was it against or who were they proposing? I
- 34:14Speaker 1: think they was talking LL at one point. They was
- 34:17Speaker 1: talking Scarface at one point he said no, Yeah, I
- 34:23Speaker 1: said no. I said, I wouldn't know. Versus is good,
- 34:30Speaker 1: but my concept would have been, Yo, I'm a fan,
- 34:37Speaker 1: you do this song? You know what I mean? Yeah, Like, okay,
- 34:42Speaker 1: I get to have LLL do my favorite LL songs
- 34:45Speaker 1: and he gonna have me do his favorite ice cube songs, right,
- 34:48Speaker 1: and it's not versus, but it's it's love. It's like, yo,
- 34:53Speaker 1: do do this? And then he do rock to bells
- 34:56Speaker 1: And he asked me, Yo, do once upon a time
- 34:58Speaker 1: of the projects? And now do it? You know It's
- 35:00Speaker 1: like that's that would have been my concept. I can't
- 35:04Speaker 1: go against you know, people admire you know, L is
- 35:07Speaker 1: a o G to me of course in the game,
- 35:11Speaker 1: so I can't see it. Me and Scarface, you know,
- 35:16Speaker 1: I know they love each other. Me and Scarface love
- 35:19Speaker 1: each other, but we don't we don't communicate enough to
- 35:23Speaker 1: do it versus together. Well, when they when they get
- 35:26Speaker 1: there to competent, I was like, this is just gonna
- 35:29Speaker 1: be too fast for They had to talk me into it.
- 35:33Speaker 1: I wouldn't do it. I refuse to do it. We
- 35:35Speaker 1: talked with Versus first came out. He's like, hey man,
- 35:37Speaker 1: we talked about all kinds of stuff. He's like, would
- 35:39Speaker 1: you do a versus. I'm like, nah, would never do that.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Like I'm not like and and and and sort of
- 35:44Speaker 1: what C was saying, My catalog is too it's too
- 35:49Speaker 1: sacred to even like put it up for a debate
- 35:52Speaker 1: on like a battle or like let me battle my
- 35:54Speaker 1: catalog again. She's like, get out of here, man, Like
- 35:57Speaker 1: this is this is like a sacred Indian burial ground.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Like you can't walk on this, you can't put this
- 36:02Speaker 1: up for competition. So I could be up there having
- 36:05Speaker 1: one of my favorite mc is talking greasy and ship.
- 36:09Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, just or if you just
- 36:12Speaker 1: had to smash him, I don't want to because you
- 36:15Speaker 1: got a lot of hits. Yeah, we agreed on it.
- 36:19Speaker 1: We agreed on it, and a celebration. It's gonna be
- 36:21Speaker 1: a celebration. So we just went up there and have fun.
- 36:24Speaker 1: We was We wasn't and that's what it felt liked.
- 36:27Speaker 1: X had a good spirit. Yeah, but you know you
- 36:30Speaker 1: got crazy, you know after that, you know the three six.
- 36:37Speaker 1: My favorite was Guccy and Jeezy because I know that
- 36:38Speaker 1: Atlanta history that it was crazy. That was dope. I
- 36:42Speaker 1: was just you know, had that butter knife cutting attention
- 36:44Speaker 1: in the air. That was that was thick. I think
- 36:47Speaker 1: Jada that was like the m v P of Versus
- 36:49Speaker 1: because he kind of like single handedly like when Sad
- 36:52Speaker 1: showed everybody like, look you gotta because he under oh
- 36:55Speaker 1: that's another person. I want to do a song with
- 36:58Speaker 1: Jadakiss is the song kiss all these years because I
- 37:01Speaker 1: want to do a song with the Locks period. My
- 37:03Speaker 1: folks they ain't respect every time we see each other.
- 37:06Speaker 1: I respect them all. Yeah, Hey, what up, y'all? We
- 37:11Speaker 1: got to stop the interview real quick to tell you
- 37:12Speaker 1: about our folks at Hard Dean, Las Vegas. You see
- 37:15Speaker 1: them right there, you know what I mean. Shout the
- 37:17Speaker 1: Hard Dean man. Shout out to everybody over there. It's
- 37:19Speaker 1: the it was dispensary in the world number one. They
- 37:21Speaker 1: got the craziest selection of weed you'll ever go to.
- 37:24Speaker 1: When you're in Las Vegas, there's only one place to
- 37:26Speaker 1: go that's Hardy and you pull up, you say, hey,
- 37:27Speaker 1: I heard about this place on the Bluelet Cap podcast.
- 37:30Speaker 1: And they're gonna get you hooked up with some fucking weed,
- 37:32Speaker 1: all right. So go to hard Dean Las Vegas right now.
- 37:36Speaker 1: If you're in the city of a sin or you're
- 37:38Speaker 1: going make sure you you know, put it put together
- 37:41Speaker 1: a little hour off to the side to make sure
- 37:43Speaker 1: you go get your nice fucking Harding bag full of
- 37:46Speaker 1: just the premium weed, all right. And not only that,
- 37:48Speaker 1: you got to shoot them a follow Hardening Underscore Las Vegas.
- 37:51Speaker 1: I wanna shot them out though, because Harding smells the best.
- 37:55Speaker 1: The dispensary is just it's not only the best dispensary
- 37:57Speaker 1: in the world, it's the best smelling dispensary in the world.
- 37:59Speaker 1: And look now the bootleg cap podcast smells like Harden
- 38:03Speaker 1: because I have the Harden signature scent candle. You could
- 38:05Speaker 1: have one too. You could go to fucking Harding Las Vegas.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Just saying. Also, make sure you follow them online Hardan
- 38:14Speaker 1: Underscore Las Vegas. That is important. You have to follow
- 38:17Speaker 1: them because there's some bullshit accounts out there. We appreciate Hardan.
- 38:21Speaker 1: When you're in Vegas, pull up, go get you some smoke,
- 38:24Speaker 1: get you some edibles, go get you some fucking carts. Whatever,
- 38:27Speaker 1: it is. They got it, and they got it at
- 38:29Speaker 1: the highest quality. It's the only place I'm smoking from.
- 38:32Speaker 1: That's Hardan, Los Vegas. Let's get back to the interview.
- 38:35Speaker 1: H cbe I saw, I saw you talk about Big
- 38:37Speaker 1: Three and kind of Adam Silver's like lack of support. Yeah,
- 38:41Speaker 1: he need to go. I saw you. I mean yeah,
- 38:44Speaker 1: I mean you're obviously a big NBA fan historically, you've
- 38:48Speaker 1: been one of the biggest Laker fans. Yes, sitting court
- 38:51Speaker 1: side all the years. Yeah, well I was in my suite.
- 38:54Speaker 1: I wouldn't foot on the wood, but I was. Would
- 38:58Speaker 1: you say your lack of approval of a guy like
- 39:01Speaker 1: Adam Silver has affected you watching the product as a fan,
- 39:05Speaker 1: of course, you know, understanding the things that they're doing
- 39:09Speaker 1: to prevent the Big Three from growing, mainly considering our
- 39:15Speaker 1: league as competition, which is fucking ridiculous. We're three on three,
- 39:21Speaker 1: we've been around six years. They're five on five, they've
- 39:25Speaker 1: been around seventy six years. Right, it's no competition. We're complementary,
- 39:31Speaker 1: and but label on us. Competition prevents other NBA owners
- 39:36Speaker 1: from investing, and if you even think you want to
- 39:40Speaker 1: own an NBA team, you won't invest because this would
- 39:45Speaker 1: disqualify you if you invest in a Big Three before
- 39:49Speaker 1: you bought your NBA team, So it eliminates a lot
- 39:53Speaker 1: of potential investors. They also are you know, going to
- 39:58Speaker 1: sponsors that they work with and telling them don't work
- 40:03Speaker 1: with them the Big Three. So it's a major issue.
- 40:07Speaker 1: All he has to do is is not include the
- 40:11Speaker 1: Big Three in that clause as a competing league and
- 40:17Speaker 1: then we can work with a lot of the same people.
- 40:21Speaker 1: But you know, this is a black owned league. It
- 40:26Speaker 1: has you know, some of the greatest Hall of famers
- 40:29Speaker 1: that ever played involved in the league as coaches, you know,
- 40:33Speaker 1: from Doctor j to Rick Berry to also people who
- 40:36Speaker 1: are actively involved in like the NBA culture who commentated
- 40:39Speaker 1: on TV and all all that. Yeah, so these are
- 40:43Speaker 1: you know, NBA legends who helped us form this league,
- 40:47Speaker 1: NBA family, and for them to shiit on it like that,
- 40:51Speaker 1: I think is very disrespectful. You know, Doctor j Iceman,
- 40:58Speaker 1: Rick Berry, they didn't make a lot of money in
- 41:02Speaker 1: the NBA, but the NBA made a lot of money
- 41:05Speaker 1: off them, and for them to shoot on the league
- 41:08Speaker 1: that they're involved in, it's three on three to me
- 41:14Speaker 1: shows that Adam Silver is out of touch. He was
- 41:17Speaker 1: supposed to bring Ice Cuban say, I would love to
- 41:20Speaker 1: be a part of it, and I want you to
- 41:22Speaker 1: be the president of the jolly took. We offered the
- 41:24Speaker 1: NBA ten percent of the league before we started, so
- 41:28Speaker 1: we went in bearing gifts. He told us thank you,
- 41:33Speaker 1: but no thank you, and then proceeded to fuck with
- 41:37Speaker 1: us for these last six years. What's crazy because it's
- 41:40Speaker 1: the competition part is wild. It's like you guys are
- 41:42Speaker 1: obviously it's a different time of the year and all
- 41:47Speaker 1: it's all players who are known through the NBA. So
- 41:50Speaker 1: it just raises brand awareness for the NBA players that
- 41:53Speaker 1: the NBA have overlooked. And you know they come and
- 41:57Speaker 1: get our players and invite it. I mean Joe Johnson
- 42:00Speaker 1: and got signed off of his running the Big Three again,
- 42:02Speaker 1: they invite him to the NBA camps. We have general
- 42:07Speaker 1: managers coming to the game owners. Everybody comes to embraced
- 42:12Speaker 1: it worse, I don't think so. But David Stern did
- 42:17Speaker 1: like what we were doing, but he couldn't get involved
- 42:21Speaker 1: because he's you know, ex commissioner, your ex commissioner with
- 42:25Speaker 1: the NBA and Adam silverst they just lawyers when it
- 42:28Speaker 1: comes down to it. Right at the end of the day,
- 42:30Speaker 1: they are just lawyers. And I think he's making a
- 42:33Speaker 1: big mistake, and I think not embracing the Big Three
- 42:38Speaker 1: will be his downfall. Let me ask you this, because
- 42:42Speaker 1: do you think it could take somebody like a Steph
- 42:45Speaker 1: Curry or like a Lebron to kind of step in
- 42:49Speaker 1: and fully embrace the league like that to kind of
- 42:51Speaker 1: change someone like Adam Silver's perspective on it. Maybe, you know,
- 42:56Speaker 1: Lebron has come to our games. You know, he went
- 42:58Speaker 1: to the championship and twenty nineteen Michael Jordan loves our league. Ship. Yeah,
- 43:06Speaker 1: I'm surprised he ain't just say give me one. I'll
- 43:08Speaker 1: go one round with y'all. No, I don't think you
- 43:11Speaker 1: want to get out there, you know, I think that's
- 43:13Speaker 1: the past. But but for the most part, he loves
- 43:16Speaker 1: the league, and uh, you know, people like Adam told
- 43:19Speaker 1: him not to work with us, and so it's just
- 43:23Speaker 1: it's time for this dude to go because he's shown
- 43:25Speaker 1: that he's not really down with the culture. What are
- 43:30Speaker 1: the things you are are going to try to do
- 43:32Speaker 1: to grow the Big Three? Put a better product on
- 43:37Speaker 1: the court, you know, take care of our sponsors. You know,
- 43:46Speaker 1: be the best innovative new league that the world have seen,
- 43:51Speaker 1: and you know, get the fans what they pay for.
- 43:55Speaker 1: You know, it's like, just just do better, and you
- 43:59Speaker 1: know tried to, you know, get from under these grips
- 44:02Speaker 1: that the NBA has us under because it is hurting
- 44:05Speaker 1: us in more ways than one. Yeah. Yeah, man, shit,
- 44:10Speaker 1: I was telling you, it's an entertaining product. For me.
- 44:12Speaker 1: I'm like a basketball fanatic, so like I'm just like, shit,
- 44:15Speaker 1: I could watch I don't know Stephen Jackson still player,
- 44:18Speaker 1: whoever it is. You know, like three games are fun.
- 44:20Speaker 1: They're fun. They are what's the OG's name? Who had?
- 44:23Speaker 1: Who changed his name? And he was on the Nuggets,
- 44:26Speaker 1: who's balling out for y'all? He changed his name? He
- 44:29Speaker 1: remember he was number one on the Nuggets back in
- 44:31Speaker 1: the day and he got in trouble because he changed
- 44:33Speaker 1: his name to his Muslim name. Oh uh my Mood
- 44:37Speaker 1: abdul Rauf. Yeah, it's like dope to see him get
- 44:41Speaker 1: buckets on, like your way, younger dudes, because he had
- 44:44Speaker 1: a bad shaking the NBA because of that. Yeah. You
- 44:46Speaker 1: know what what people don't realize about the Big Three
- 44:49Speaker 1: is it's its own game. So just because you got
- 44:52Speaker 1: loose in the NBA and you was the ship in
- 44:55Speaker 1: the NBA, don't mean you're gonna come into Big three
- 44:58Speaker 1: and get loose and vice versa. Just because people overlooked
- 45:02Speaker 1: you in the NBA don't mean you can't come into
- 45:04Speaker 1: Big three and make an impact. And that's what's been happening.
- 45:08Speaker 1: You know, some dudes think it's easy, but in three
- 45:12Speaker 1: on three you have to have all skills. You can't
- 45:15Speaker 1: have no weaknesses. You can be a specialist, can't be
- 45:19Speaker 1: a three point specialist and be effective in three on three. Hey,
- 45:24Speaker 1: we got to stop the interview to tell you about
- 45:26Speaker 1: our family at odds Socks. That's right, the most comfortable

- 47:17Speaker 1: Let's get back to the interview. You spoke recently about
- 47:21Speaker 1: Warner Brothers having the rights to distribute the Friday series. Yeah,
- 47:25Speaker 1: and that's obviously your intellectual property right. You came up
- 47:28Speaker 1: with that movie. Yeah, the most impactful movie my entire life.
- 47:31Speaker 1: I was talking like Smokey from like age eight to twelve,
- 47:34Speaker 1: my favorite, that's my favorite movie, one of my favorites.
- 47:37Speaker 1: I know that entire movie by heart, like it's bad,
- 47:39Speaker 1: Like I could recite it when I watch it. I
- 47:41Speaker 1: watched it so much as a kid. By the way,
- 47:44Speaker 1: Top three soundtrack ever too, Yeah, one of the best
- 47:47Speaker 1: soundtracks ever is would you say, because you know you're
- 47:52Speaker 1: somebody who's been revolutionary in so many ways, is that
- 47:57Speaker 1: a like what lessons did you learn from the Friday
- 48:00Speaker 1: series of not retaining ownership or not necessarily being you know,
- 48:03Speaker 1: in charge of the destination of where it goes when
- 48:07Speaker 1: you're doing movies. Now, is that something that's front of
- 48:11Speaker 1: the mind, you know, like if you that's part of
- 48:13Speaker 1: the game. You know, when you do a movie, you
- 48:17Speaker 1: have to get it distributed, and if you want your
- 48:19Speaker 1: movie to be taken you know, as you know high
- 48:26Speaker 1: level entertainment, there's only a few houses and studios that
- 48:33Speaker 1: can the right of thatt So at the time we
- 48:36Speaker 1: didn't have you know, it wasn't no streaming, so we
- 48:42Speaker 1: had to assign a movie the New Line to distribute it.
- 48:48Speaker 1: And New Line is connected with Warner Brothers. So you know,
- 48:53Speaker 1: sometimes when you do one movie with a company, they
- 48:57Speaker 1: have the rights to release the sequels. That's part of
- 49:01Speaker 1: the deal, and that's the clause that we're called in.
- 49:04Speaker 1: You know, they have the right to release the sequels.
- 49:08Speaker 1: And so the way to stellmate is to not release,
- 49:12Speaker 1: you know, to do a few and stop, and that's
- 49:15Speaker 1: what they did. They did three and they stopped, and
- 49:19Speaker 1: we've been asking them to get the movie back. Here's
- 49:22Speaker 1: why they won't get a movie back. Right along, straight
- 49:26Speaker 1: out of Compton New Line had both of those movies.
- 49:30Speaker 1: They told me both of those movies would not work
- 49:32Speaker 1: on a major scale. We took those movies out of
- 49:36Speaker 1: Warner Brothers, took them to Universal, you know. So they
- 49:41Speaker 1: worked one hundred and fifty million dollars from Ride Along,
- 49:44Speaker 1: two hundred million from Straight Out of two hundred and
- 49:47Speaker 1: fifty from Straight out of Compton. So we really embarrassed
- 49:51Speaker 1: embarrassed them. So they was like, man, you really embarrassed
- 49:54Speaker 1: us on that, you know what I mean, Like damn.
- 49:57Speaker 1: So we was like, man, y'all, don't believe in us,
- 50:00Speaker 1: give us the ship back. And they like, we can't
- 50:02Speaker 1: give you another movie back because I'll get fired, you know.
- 50:05Speaker 1: So it was on that tip. You know, they didn't
- 50:07Speaker 1: want to be embarrassed, so they didn't want to let Friday. Yeah,
- 50:11Speaker 1: as a fight, I was. I always just assume Chris
- 50:13Speaker 1: Tucker was just not wanting to do it because because
- 50:15Speaker 1: after the third win, it was like, Okay, if they
- 50:17Speaker 1: do a fourth, Smokey gotta come back. Yeah, And obviously,
- 50:20Speaker 1: rest in peace to John Witherspoon. Tiny Lister, Tiny Lister
- 50:25Speaker 1: pass There's some very big parts of that universe that
- 50:30Speaker 1: have passed. Yeah, man, And that's why I hate you
- 50:32Speaker 1: Warner Brothers, because they they let that happen. We could
- 50:35Speaker 1: have shot those movies way before those guys passed away.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I'll never forgive Toby Emrick and the guys that was
- 50:44Speaker 1: running the show at the time. Uh you know they
- 50:51Speaker 1: let guys pass away who was counting on this movie. Yeah,
- 50:55Speaker 1: and that universe like fed fed a lot of Like, dude,
- 50:57Speaker 1: I remember you would just go to like the Monster
- 51:00Speaker 1: up show and Tiny Lister would be just there with
- 51:02Speaker 1: his bike, yeah, taking thick like no. I think it
- 51:06Speaker 1: was the most his most recognizable character, of course, one
- 51:09Speaker 1: of the most recognizable characters ever. He and braced being
- 51:12Speaker 1: called Debo first, What like if you say, like, you know,
- 51:14Speaker 1: that's not his name, but I feel like that's also
- 51:17Speaker 1: like a like a people call you Craig. Yeah, it's
- 51:20Speaker 1: like a verb. You could be like yo id boed him,
- 51:22Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like Chris Wait who called
- 51:26Speaker 1: him Craig my youngest son. He came to the house
- 51:29Speaker 1: and my little my youngest son. He's twenty eight now,
- 51:32Speaker 1: he's a little boy. He just Craig. Oh man, you
- 51:41Speaker 1: are Mount wes Moore. The album it comes out Friday.
- 51:46Speaker 1: I'm very excited this is I'm so glad you guys
- 51:49Speaker 1: put this together. I'm so glad it's actually coming out,
- 51:51Speaker 1: because I really I didn't believe it was gonnappen until
- 51:54Speaker 1: y'all did the Triller Ship and then that song came out,
- 51:57Speaker 1: and then it was quiet, and I was like, we
- 52:00Speaker 1: got one record, you know. Yeah, well, uh now you
- 52:04Speaker 1: could like not believe that the second album is coming out.
- 52:07Speaker 1: There's plans to do a second album is already done.
- 52:09Speaker 1: We did like we did songs fifty is this all
- 52:13Speaker 1: happening at the compound and snoop spot like where you
- 52:15Speaker 1: guys recording? We did it all over the studios. So
- 52:18Speaker 1: and we might add a few more new ones to us,
- 52:21Speaker 1: you know what I mean, because we we we in
- 52:23Speaker 1: that mode. It's easy. It's so simple, I can tell
- 52:25Speaker 1: you person. You know, second album is hope as fuck.
- 52:29Speaker 1: It's hard slaps. It's hard for us to make a
- 52:31Speaker 1: bad record together. Yeah, of course, so we gotta kind
- 52:36Speaker 1: of work hard to make a bad record. Did you
- 52:39Speaker 1: guys try to kick the doctor Dre Tree to get
- 52:41Speaker 1: a beat or something like one of those millions of
- 52:43Speaker 1: Detok songs that he didn't doesn't ever plan on releasing.
- 52:46Speaker 1: I think I think droped doctor Dre is the greatest
- 52:49Speaker 1: producer in hip hop of all time. I think sometime
- 52:53Speaker 1: we can overthink. You know, you know when we played Dominos,
- 52:55Speaker 1: we placed, we say steady wrong, steady long, steady wrong.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Wh when you take too long to play it. I'm
- 53:00Speaker 1: gonna I'm not saying he steady wrong. It's just he's
- 53:03Speaker 1: a perfectionist. And album he is on here, he one
- 53:08Speaker 1: of the songs. Yeah he did well, that's all that matters.
- 53:11Speaker 1: But we will. I think we're going to get a
- 53:12Speaker 1: song out of Dre. I think he just gonna get
- 53:14Speaker 1: a few. We loved Dray, you know it's the only
- 53:17Speaker 1: song well. I mean, you know what I was gonna say,
- 53:19Speaker 1: I forgot about like you. But I think in like
- 53:24Speaker 1: peak like nineties hip hop like it was, was it
- 53:27Speaker 1: only natural Born Killers that y'all did together? Like after
- 53:29Speaker 1: n w A happened natural Born Killers, we did that?
- 53:33Speaker 1: The check chack? What about the hello was a slap? Hello?
- 53:41Speaker 1: This was hard? Yo? What's yeah? How close were y'all
- 53:45Speaker 1: doing the fucking new n w A with Snoop? Was that? Like?
- 53:47Speaker 1: How where those songs at? Not close? At all. It's
- 53:50Speaker 1: like you heard the songs they came out. We were
- 53:52Speaker 1: about to get into it, and then he he met
- 53:55Speaker 1: him and them, and then he met he met a
- 53:58Speaker 1: fifty and it was like chin check was fire. Yeah,
- 54:01Speaker 1: he met he met those two dudes, and that just
- 54:04Speaker 1: took his attention. I mean, listen, Drea is a genius.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Hopefully we get something well the album. He's been sending
- 54:12Speaker 1: me a lot of He was an early on Mount
- 54:14Speaker 1: wes Moore supporter. He got caught wind of the project
- 54:16Speaker 1: early through Snoop. He put up the Snoop studio, he
- 54:19Speaker 1: put a stamp of approval on it. He jumped on
- 54:21Speaker 1: the song. We got a song with him, but it's
- 54:22Speaker 1: not it didn't make this album on the second album.
- 54:25Speaker 1: And then the rivalry within the crew obviously the NBA,
- 54:29Speaker 1: but you know, uh, Warriors Lakers, right sports, Yeah, Warriors
- 54:33Speaker 1: is new money. Forty nine ers, Raiders Lakers is own money.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Our biggest argument with our debate Giants, Yeah, Dodgers and
- 54:41Speaker 1: Giants and then the Raiders. And for we know, we
- 54:44Speaker 1: don't be messing, we don't even be tripping on Lakers
- 54:46Speaker 1: and the Warriors because we know the Warriors is you know,
- 54:49Speaker 1: it's just it, you know, so we don't even then y'all.
