- 0:01Speaker 1: Thanks Mike here with Lane Lambert Lane. Following a four
- 0:04Speaker 1: nothing lost to Edmonton back on Saturday, you get the
- 0:06Speaker 1: same team here again tonight. What's the process of going
- 0:11Speaker 1: through that game? Is it one of those things where
- 0:13Speaker 1: you flush it? Do you look back and say, we
- 0:15Speaker 1: can take one or two things away from it? Do
- 0:17Speaker 1: you do a deep dive into Saturday's game? What's the
- 0:20Speaker 1: process of moving on from that one and preparing for
- 0:23Speaker 1: the oilers for a second time in a row.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good question. You do a deep dive,
- 0:27Speaker 2: and you don't overthink it because there's certain situations that
- 0:31Speaker 2: if you just, you know, win a one on one battle,
- 0:34Speaker 2: then you know, A doesn't need to B to C
- 0:38Speaker 2: to D and all of a sudden you're in your
- 0:39Speaker 2: zone for seven and a half minutes in the game.
- 0:41Speaker 2: You know, So you take a little bit of consideration
- 0:46Speaker 2: of that, but you do you do a deep dive.
- 0:48Speaker 2: There's certain adjustments that I think we can make, you know,
- 0:52Speaker 2: and do a better job on some of the things
- 0:55Speaker 2: that we were supposed to do good. We didn't, so
- 0:58Speaker 2: we just have to be better.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Today. Let me talk talk a lot about special teams,
- 1:01Speaker 1: the power play of the PK recently when you're seeing
- 1:05Speaker 1: struggles on those units, What are the things that you
- 1:08Speaker 1: can do to try and foster chemistry to have more success.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Is it as simple as just more practice time trying
- 1:16Speaker 1: to force that proverbial square peg into the round hole
- 1:19Speaker 1: or is there more that you can you can do
- 1:21Speaker 1: and you want to see from this group?
- 1:23Speaker 2: Well, look at I think that you know, there's no
- 1:26Speaker 2: question the practice time is going to help out. There's
- 1:29Speaker 2: no question that film is going to help out. But
- 1:32Speaker 2: it's also a matter of our guys executing what, you know,
- 1:36Speaker 2: what needs to be executed. It's not like we haven't
- 1:40Speaker 2: been you know, schooled in certain situations. You know, from
- 1:44Speaker 2: a penalty killing standpoint, when things get chaotic, you have
- 1:48Speaker 2: to have the wherewithal to not try and rush over
- 1:51Speaker 2: and do somebody else's job, you know, And part of
- 1:54Speaker 2: that comes a little bit with experience, and part of
- 1:59Speaker 2: that is you know, working on it in practice as
- 2:01Speaker 2: well and doing repetitions, so that part of it we
- 2:04Speaker 2: need to get better at. There's no question about it.
- 2:06Speaker 2: And you know, from a power place townpoint, our power
- 2:08Speaker 2: play has been good. It's one of some hockey games
- 2:11Speaker 2: I think for us, it's a matter of looking back,
- 2:14Speaker 2: what were we doing then? What are we doing now?
- 2:17Speaker 2: And to be honest with you, you know, we had
- 2:18Speaker 2: twelve shots on goal the other day and you know,
- 2:22Speaker 2: I know it didn't go in, but I would be
- 2:25Speaker 2: a lot more worried if we had, you know, five
- 2:27Speaker 2: or six power plays and we didn't get any shots
- 2:30Speaker 2: on goal. And that's happened in the past of teams
- 2:33Speaker 2: as well, But that hasn't happened or it's not happening here.
- 2:37Speaker 2: So you just got to stick with it.
- 2:38Speaker 1: How do you stem the oh lord, here we go
- 2:41Speaker 1: again from coming into the bench when you're going on
- 2:44Speaker 1: the power play or when your facing the PK.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Well, you just have to man up. You know, it's
- 2:49Speaker 2: professional hockey. It's a national hockey league. It's the best
- 2:51Speaker 2: league in the world. And the players in the in
- 2:54Speaker 2: the league are the best players in the world. And
- 2:57Speaker 2: nothing's easy. If it was easy, everybody be doing it.
- 3:00Speaker 1: And it's not.
- 3:02Speaker 2: And so you have to, you know, like I said,
- 3:07Speaker 2: you have to man up and go out there with confidence.
- 3:10Speaker 1: You've come off of a pretty good lull in the schedule,
- 3:13Speaker 1: three games essentially in the last twelve ish days. A
- 3:17Speaker 1: lot of times, a lot of time to work in
- 3:19Speaker 1: practice and work on things you want to work on.
- 3:21Speaker 1: But now you begin a stretch of eleven games and
- 3:24Speaker 1: twenty one days, what are going to be some of
- 3:27Speaker 1: the big lessons you've taken from this time off and
- 3:30Speaker 1: what are those goals moving forward through this now pretty
- 3:33Speaker 1: chaotic chunk of the schedule.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Yeah, well we've got you know, we've had a chance
- 3:39Speaker 2: to sort of reset a little bit and work on
- 3:42Speaker 2: some things that we feel like we needed to work on,
- 3:46Speaker 2: you know, continue to grow and build our identity, you know,
- 3:51Speaker 2: and we know this this stretch coming up is extremely difficult.
- 3:55Speaker 2: We have very good hockey teams obviously that we're playing against,
- 4:00Speaker 2: you know, So for us, it's just take it one
- 4:02Speaker 2: game at a time and stay focused. You know, it's
- 4:07Speaker 2: the time of the year where Christmas is coming, your
- 4:09Speaker 2: families are in There's all kinds of distractions out there,
- 4:12Speaker 2: and you have to keep away from the distractions and
- 4:15Speaker 2: just pay attention to your job. And you know, once
- 4:17Speaker 2: December twenty fourth comes, let's see where we are.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So with the Amazon oilers coming now for a second
- 4:23Speaker 1: game in a row, do you feel that this gives
- 4:25Speaker 1: you in particular an advantage knowing what you need to
- 4:28Speaker 1: improve on from game one on Saturday to.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Now, Well, I think, you know, I think if you
- 4:34Speaker 2: can make some adjustments and their positive adjustments, which we
- 4:37Speaker 2: feel like we can, you know, it helps us certainly,
- 4:43Speaker 2: you know. But I also think that we have to
- 4:44Speaker 2: execute things that we already knew going into the first game,
- 4:48Speaker 2: or we have to execute those things better, because you know,
- 4:51Speaker 2: I don't think we executed those things well enough against
- 4:53Speaker 2: this hockey team. And I'm looking forward to the game tonight.
