- 0:00Speaker 1: Ben Higgins and Ashley I bring you infamous. Sometimes roses
- 0:05Speaker 1: are red flags.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Welcome back to Infamous, because sometimes roses are red flags.
- 0:10Speaker 2: This is Bob Guiney. I'm filling in for our lovely
- 0:13Speaker 2: hosts s Been and Ashley.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Uh.
- 0:16Speaker 2: This is part two of our interview with Chad Johnson.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Let's talk a little bit about Paradise. I know, you know,
- 0:23Speaker 2: you were obviously someone who I'm sure was a you know,
- 0:27Speaker 2: an immediate choice for the producers that we got to
- 0:29Speaker 2: have this guy on Paradise, and and that kind of
- 0:32Speaker 2: extends your you know, extends your fame obviously, but also
- 0:36Speaker 2: kind of puts you back in that in that headspace.
- 0:40Speaker 3: You know.
- 0:40Speaker 2: There's a couple of moments I remember, you know, Uh,
- 0:43Speaker 2: for example Lace on the show, a lot of people
- 0:46Speaker 2: mentioned that one as as moments where you know, did
- 0:49Speaker 2: you think she was trying to be genuine with you
- 0:51Speaker 2: or did you think she was coming at you from
- 0:53Speaker 2: like a producer's putting it her up to it, or
- 0:54Speaker 2: what was your thoughts on that.
- 0:56Speaker 3: I kind of had two thoughts with her, which like
- 0:59Speaker 3: in one thought was like, oh, she knows she's crazy,
- 1:02Speaker 3: and like I like it, Like that's we're having fun. Yeah,
- 1:06Speaker 3: you know, like, okay, I like somebody that can let
- 1:08Speaker 3: loose because in that time, again, I was you know,
- 1:10Speaker 3: drinking and being wild and stupid, and I wanted somebody
- 1:13Speaker 3: that would do that with me that was kind of
- 1:15Speaker 3: like hey, partner in idiocrasy, and so that was great,
- 1:19Speaker 3: you know. I actually kind of was open to that.
- 1:21Speaker 3: But then in the other pocket as well, I was like,
- 1:24Speaker 3: this is great. We're gonna be the whole show like
- 1:28Speaker 3: a crazy girl. Like I was like, this is fantastic.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 3: And I had had conversations with producers before I came
- 1:34Speaker 3: in because I had the opportunity like should I you know,
- 1:36Speaker 3: because by the end of like The Bachelorette, I was
- 1:38Speaker 3: gonna get like that's when I was getting bad, bad,
- 1:40Speaker 3: bad bad, And I talked to them like should I
- 1:43Speaker 3: go back to like can I go be me? Or
- 1:45Speaker 3: like do you want me to keep doing that? You know?
- 1:48Speaker 3: And they were like, you can dial it up if
- 1:50Speaker 3: you want, and I was like, okay, if I'm gonna
- 1:52Speaker 3: dialo it like so this everything that happened in Paradise
- 1:54Speaker 3: and not the specific things that happened, but it was
- 1:57Speaker 3: all like pre talked about, you know, it was all, hey,
- 2:00Speaker 3: I'm coming in, and I told them I'm gonna be
- 2:03Speaker 3: a nutcase first day, Like if this is what you want,
- 2:05Speaker 3: I'm gonna be insane the first day, and I'm gonna
- 2:08Speaker 3: give you previews. You're gonna have great preview Like it
- 2:10Speaker 3: was kind of strategical, and I don't know if you're
- 2:11Speaker 3: supposed to be that strategical, but I was like, you're
- 2:13Speaker 3: gonna have great previews for the show, and so like,
- 2:16Speaker 3: let me help you, and then you help me. I'll
- 2:18Speaker 3: be crazy for the first episode. You'll get your great
- 2:20Speaker 3: contrailers and previews or you're gonna be able to use
- 2:23Speaker 3: and then I'll go back to being normal second day.
- 2:25Speaker 3: And then you guys like let me actually date, like
- 2:28Speaker 3: let me do what I want to do. You know,
- 2:29Speaker 3: we've been pushing me to be that character, you know.
- 2:32Speaker 3: And but yeah, the lace thing, I really thought we
- 2:37Speaker 3: had it and we were playing the role together and
- 2:40Speaker 3: it was like, hey, we're both gonna play this role
- 2:42Speaker 3: together and I actually kind of do really like you.
- 2:46Speaker 3: And then all of a sudden, like just one minute,
- 2:48Speaker 3: she just snapped and turned and was like I'm not
- 2:50Speaker 3: like this. I'm like, what are you talking about? Like
- 2:53Speaker 3: we're doing this for like seven hours straight like we
- 2:56Speaker 3: have every time. So it was really confused.
- 2:59Speaker 2: So is she just going to on the rabbit hole
- 3:00Speaker 2: and then changed your mind or like, what do you think?
- 3:03Speaker 3: I think? So I think they. I think one of
- 3:05Speaker 3: the girls there must have talked to her. Maybe it
- 3:07Speaker 3: was a proud maybe someone was like, if you do
- 3:09Speaker 3: hang out with him, you're gonna look bad or something.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I don't know, but I mean I do know it
- 3:15Speaker 3: would have been in that like strategically to keep playing,
- 3:18Speaker 3: you know, the stupid thing we were doing, right, and
- 3:22Speaker 3: just gone to bed separately and then the next day
- 3:25Speaker 3: talked and had dinner and stuff and gone on the
- 3:27Speaker 3: flow with the show. But I felt abandoned, you know,
- 3:31Speaker 3: because I was oho, you know, in this alcoholic type episode,
- 3:37Speaker 3: because they gave me you know, well they didn't give me.
- 3:40Speaker 3: They handed me a bottle of Jack Daniels night half
- 3:42Speaker 3: the bottle before eight a m. That day.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yeah, so I was that's that's not the Breakfast Champions necessarily, right.
- 3:51Speaker 3: No, So I couldn't remember anything, like literally I remember
- 3:55Speaker 3: stepping onto the beach. That was that was like that's it.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Everything else is literally in blackout mode. Yes, yeah, it
- 4:04Speaker 3: just didn't go as as planned and I'd change everything.
- 4:08Speaker 3: But again, it was one of those things where when
- 4:11Speaker 3: you're in the middle of you know, an alcohol problem,
- 4:14Speaker 3: probably yeah, going on a dating.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Show, and yeah, I mean there were some moments.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Obviously you had a couple of things, you know, you know,
- 4:22Speaker 2: and this might have been one of the previews you
- 4:25Speaker 2: were looking to give them, right, But you know, I'll
- 4:27Speaker 2: you know, you like y'all murder everybody on this thing
- 4:29Speaker 2: and your family and some stuff like that. I mean,
- 4:31Speaker 2: was that was that one of those moments. I mean,
- 4:33Speaker 2: that's a pretty intense thing to say. Did that ever
- 4:36Speaker 2: come back around to bite you, you know afterwards? I mean, like,
- 4:39Speaker 2: you know, obviously, I know you said it did emotionally
- 4:41Speaker 2: from the standpoint of dealing with all that stuff, But
- 4:43Speaker 2: I never have any like real life run ins with
- 4:45Speaker 2: people because of stuff you might have sat on television,
- 4:48Speaker 2: like somebody's family members or anything like that confront you
- 4:50Speaker 2: or anything like that.
- 4:51Speaker 3: No, So that that was me saying all that stuff.
- 4:53Speaker 3: That was just like me and my friends would try
- 4:55Speaker 3: to make the joke, like the worst possible jokes to
- 4:58Speaker 3: each other. Yeah, we were drinking or whatever, and so
- 5:01Speaker 3: that's what that and it did it. Honestly, that's a
- 5:05Speaker 3: good point. I kind of wanted to bring that up.
- 5:07Speaker 3: It really screwed me over because so I had a
- 5:10Speaker 3: girlfriend and and here's one thing. I don't know if
- 5:14Speaker 3: you ever heard, like I had a domestic violence thing
- 5:17Speaker 3: a few years ago. I had a girlfriend who said
- 5:20Speaker 3: that I hit her right, she had videos of me
- 5:23Speaker 3: yelling because I was drunk, and yeah, I did yell,
- 5:27Speaker 3: like you know, I was being an idiot yelling and
- 5:29Speaker 3: like hitting the door and stupid stuff like that. And
- 5:31Speaker 3: I don't even know when I was mad at but
- 5:34Speaker 3: I've never laid hands on a girl. But I played
- 5:37Speaker 3: that character and I said those things, so everyone automatically said, yes,
- 5:42Speaker 3: it must be true. I saw him be this way
- 5:44Speaker 3: on TV, so yes, he must have done it. No
- 5:47Speaker 3: one took two seconds to play skeptic at all. So
- 5:49Speaker 3: one hundred percent it's affected me.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yeah, where I.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Have to be extremely careful in relationships now because like, oh,
- 5:58Speaker 3: the bad boy did something bad, you know what I mean,
- 6:01Speaker 3: anyone can make up anything about me and people are
- 6:04Speaker 3: gonna be like, well, yeah, the bad boy did something bad,
- 6:06Speaker 3: and I'm like no, but I don't actually do anything
- 6:10Speaker 3: bad in real life. I just who's gonna who's gonna say, no,
- 6:14Speaker 3: we didn't. Everyone's gonna think you're the cool person.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Well with that, with that in mind, I mean when
- 6:19Speaker 2: people look back at the show and they you know,
- 6:21Speaker 2: obviously these clips are gonna be around forever, right, I
- 6:24Speaker 2: mean it's when when they when they look back at
- 6:26Speaker 2: the show, do you what do you wish they would
- 6:28Speaker 2: have seen, you know, in those moments, like you know,
- 6:31Speaker 2: if you had some of them to do all over again,
- 6:32Speaker 2: like you think about, you know, like the moment you
- 6:34Speaker 2: have with Sarah Harron for example. You know, I know
- 6:38Speaker 2: you later said you were disappointed in yourself for that.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I mean, if you had a minute to sit with
- 6:41Speaker 2: any of them and you know, what would you want
- 6:43Speaker 2: to say to them?
- 6:44Speaker 3: Well? I did find out, not not to like cover
- 6:47Speaker 3: myself or anything, but I didn't. They edited that SoundBite
- 6:51Speaker 3: of the arm thing in from a from a like
- 6:55Speaker 3: an interview I had with one of them. They made
- 6:57Speaker 3: it look like I said in front of the whole group,
- 6:58Speaker 3: which I didn't do. I didn't realize that till years later.
- 7:02Speaker 3: But but yeah, just I mean the stuff I was saying,
- 7:05Speaker 3: you know, but I got caught, you know, like I
- 7:08Speaker 3: was making horrible jokes because again that's what I did
- 7:11Speaker 3: with my friends back home. And when I'm that many
- 7:14Speaker 3: drinks deep, you know, I started making those jokes again,
- 7:19Speaker 3: What's the worst thing I could possibly say? And I'm
- 7:21Speaker 3: sitting there with the producer that I thought was my friend. Yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 3: there's a can't you forget there's a massive camera and
- 7:28Speaker 3: an audio guy standing there, and you're making these horrible
- 7:31Speaker 3: jokes like you would to your friend, just just to
- 7:34Speaker 3: get a chuckle out of your friend, you know, something
- 7:36Speaker 3: you would never want the other person to say, especially
- 7:38Speaker 3: never want the entire country to hear. So, I mean,
- 7:42Speaker 3: if I could take it all back, the number one
- 7:44Speaker 3: thing I would do was just not drink that I
- 7:46Speaker 3: would that would People don't understand how much that would
- 7:49Speaker 3: have changed. I mean the whole my whole life would
- 7:55Speaker 3: be different if I didn't drink that day. I have
- 7:56Speaker 3: no idea where I would be, honestly.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I understand me. It's a lot. I mean
- 8:01Speaker 1: a lot of people say that.
- 8:02Speaker 2: You know, a lot of people become a different person
- 8:04Speaker 2: when they drink, and and you know that's one of
- 8:07Speaker 2: those things you hope that you hope you become a
- 8:09Speaker 2: kind or gentle version of yourself.
- 8:11Speaker 1: But you also can put yourself in a spot.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Where you know, but but you know, like you said,
- 8:14Speaker 2: you you wish you wouldn't have done it on national TV.
- 8:16Speaker 2: You wish you wouldn't have done it when all these
- 8:18Speaker 2: people were hearing you. Well, well a lot of those
- 8:20Speaker 2: same people will hear you now. So if you had
- 8:22Speaker 2: something you wanted to say to Sarah, to Lace or
- 8:25Speaker 2: to Jojo, you know, you can say it now and
- 8:27Speaker 2: they and they would hear it, and you know, you
- 8:29Speaker 2: could let them know that you know, you own those
- 8:32Speaker 2: moments and you you know, but you're also you know.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Aren't that guy or whatever or whatever you you know
- 8:37Speaker 1: might want to say.
- 8:38Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sorry, Sarah, I'm sorry, Lace, I'm sorry, Jojo,
- 8:41Speaker 3: I'm sorry for everything. You know. I mean, it's not this.
- 8:45Speaker 3: It's hard to apologize for the guy because it's so
- 8:47Speaker 3: long ago, you know, but me mean now, I'm so sorry,
- 8:52Speaker 3: but I wish I could take it all back.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, man, I mean, I think it's one
- 8:58Speaker 2: of those things you go through some some phases in life, right,
- 9:01Speaker 2: and yours just happened to play out on national television
- 9:04Speaker 2: on a on a huge stage, and you know, it
- 9:07Speaker 2: is tough to take that back. But you know, I'm
- 9:10Speaker 2: sure they'll see that, and you know, who knows, maybe
- 9:12Speaker 2: it'll affect you guys when you get a chance to
- 9:14Speaker 2: to cross paths again, you know, in the future someday
- 9:18Speaker 2: if you do right.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So, I mean, if they came to.
- 9:21Speaker 2: You today and they were like, you know, hey, Chad,
- 9:23Speaker 2: we're going to do another version of Bachelor in Paradise.
- 9:26Speaker 2: It's going to be the villains. You know, uh, would
- 9:30Speaker 2: you what would you do? Like, would you would you
- 9:33Speaker 2: allow yourself to go back to that character or do
- 9:35Speaker 2: you think you'd or would you even do it?
- 9:37Speaker 1: I guess it's first and foremost.
- 9:38Speaker 2: And if so, would you allow yourself to go back
- 9:40Speaker 2: to that character or would you go back on and
- 9:42Speaker 2: be like, there is no way I'm gonna let myself
- 9:44Speaker 2: be edited like that guy there's I'm coming one hundred
- 9:46Speaker 2: percent from the heart.
- 9:48Speaker 1: You know, what would your choice be in that matter?
- 9:50Speaker 3: I don't think I could play that character anymore like it.
- 9:52Speaker 3: It would be too inauthentic at this point, you know,
- 9:56Speaker 3: if they ever wanted me to do something at this point,
- 9:59Speaker 3: now it would one hundred percent be like, you need
- 10:02Speaker 3: to let me be like, let me be regular, you know,
- 10:05Speaker 3: let me be good like I originally intended, you know,
- 10:09Speaker 3: And I just have to not let myself slip into
- 10:11Speaker 3: doing something. But you know, to be honest, I don't
- 10:13Speaker 3: think they would ever call, and I don't I don't
- 10:15Speaker 3: really have any need for that stuff anymore.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, I have to put you on to these
- 10:32Speaker 4: leggings I've been obsessed with lately.
- 10:34Speaker 5: They're from this brand called Tona, and get this, the
- 10:37Speaker 5: designer behind them also created Lulu Lemon, so they know
- 10:42Speaker 5: what they're doing. These leggings are next level, I think,
- 10:46Speaker 5: buttery soft, super flattering, and very comfortable. But they're also
- 10:52Speaker 5: very supportive in the right places. So I started wearing
- 10:55Speaker 5: them when the kids and I go out to play,
- 10:58Speaker 5: and now I'm basically living in the twenty four seven.
- 11:01Speaker 5: And here's what makes them even better. With every payer
- 11:04Speaker 5: you buy, it helps fund a mental health counseling session
- 11:09Speaker 5: for a teen in need. Isn't that so awesome? Tona
- 11:13Speaker 5: is on a mission to end teen suicide and self harm,
- 11:17Speaker 5: which we think is so important and so incredible of them,
- 11:21Speaker 5: so we partner with Tona to give you twenty percent
- 11:24Speaker 5: off your order and free shipping. So head to tonaactive
- 11:27Speaker 5: dot com that is t o na active dot com
- 11:31Speaker 5: and use code iHeart for twenty percent off in free shipping.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Well, I was gonna ask, like it's one of those things,
- 11:39Speaker 2: you know, It's like a do you return to the
- 11:42Speaker 2: scene of the crime or do you do you just say,
- 11:44Speaker 2: you know what I'm gonna you know, I don't need to.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Go on a TV show again to show everybody who
- 11:49Speaker 1: I am.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I already know who I am in here and I'm
- 11:51Speaker 2: gonna prove it in other ways. Or you know, you
- 11:53Speaker 2: got a lot of choices to make in those moments.
- 11:54Speaker 3: I'm sure, I mean I would it would be I
- 11:57Speaker 3: guess there's there would be some positive to it, you know.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Like so for the most part I the last ten
- 12:02Speaker 3: years now, I just keep to myself because I never
- 12:04Speaker 3: know what people are thinking of me because or what
- 12:07Speaker 3: show did they see, or you know, which seemed to remember.
- 12:09Speaker 3: You know, because I've had people where I'm nice to them,
- 12:12Speaker 3: a nice to them for an hour and a half
- 12:13Speaker 3: and then they're just like, you know, at the end
- 12:16Speaker 3: of the time, I'm like, what, like you're mad because
- 12:18Speaker 3: the show six years ago, you know, like, yeah, we
- 12:21Speaker 3: just had a great time, so it's weird.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I was going to ask you that.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I was going to ask you if you've ever had
- 12:28Speaker 2: you know, I heard about a few people like having
- 12:31Speaker 2: experiences with them be at a bar and someone will
- 12:33Speaker 2: throw a beer at them and they're like, what is
- 12:34Speaker 2: going on?
- 12:35Speaker 1: You know, I was.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I was wondering if that ever was an experience that
- 12:38Speaker 2: you had, because you know, some people, they might have
- 12:41Speaker 2: that image of you in their head and not even
- 12:43Speaker 2: give you a chance to, you know, possibly show them otherwise.
- 12:47Speaker 3: I've probably had, I mean a dozen times where I'm with,
- 12:51Speaker 3: you know, a girlfriend and I'm you know, at a
- 12:54Speaker 3: restaurant or a bar, and I go to the bathroom
- 12:57Speaker 3: and either a girl or an old lady or somebody
- 13:00Speaker 3: will come up to my girlfriend and say you need
- 13:02Speaker 3: to get away from him. You know, yeah he's crazy,
- 13:06Speaker 3: and it's like and it got to the point where
- 13:08Speaker 3: I'm like, like, let me know which one comes up
- 13:11Speaker 3: and says something, you know, just just because I'm going
- 13:14Speaker 3: to be curious, you know, right right to the point
- 13:16Speaker 3: where I go talk to these people and be like,
- 13:17Speaker 3: why'd you do that like, you know, you're watching a
- 13:20Speaker 3: TV show, right, Like you're not gonna go yell at
- 13:23Speaker 3: Dwight from the office.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Right right.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I think I think in that regard, you know, people
- 13:29Speaker 2: people see a reality show and and to them that
- 13:33Speaker 2: is reality, you know, and not realizing it's a television
- 13:36Speaker 2: show that is produced and everything else.
- 13:38Speaker 1: And so you know, I mean, I guess I could.
- 13:41Speaker 2: See the confusion, but I also, you know, can see
- 13:44Speaker 2: it from from the standpoint of hey me, and that
- 13:46Speaker 2: was ten years ago, and you know, yeah, I did
- 13:49Speaker 2: some crazy stuff on that show, but I'm trying.
- 13:50Speaker 1: To own it now. I mean, it would be hard.
- 13:52Speaker 1: It'd be really hard.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I would think to you know, taking it on your
- 13:57Speaker 2: word that you're a totally different guy now, I obviously
- 14:00Speaker 2: don't know you, so I would say, taking in on
- 14:02Speaker 2: your word that you are, it would have to be
- 14:04Speaker 2: really difficult to have people still throwing stuff at you
- 14:07Speaker 2: from ten years ago that you might not even remember
- 14:09Speaker 2: having done, right, given the circumstances.
- 14:12Speaker 3: All the time. And I mean, I guess the one
- 14:14Speaker 3: thing I couldn't imagine is like all the guys that
- 14:17Speaker 3: got out of the show, right, and they either had
- 14:20Speaker 3: a good portrayal or they you know, they stuck to
- 14:22Speaker 3: their their guns and they just stayed true to themselves.
- 14:25Speaker 3: You know, like that had to be so crazy to
- 14:28Speaker 3: like to go out and you know people are thinking
- 14:30Speaker 3: positively of you, you know what I mean, just to
- 14:32Speaker 3: like you go out to a local restaurant, like when
- 14:34Speaker 3: I go out anywhere, Like I just went to, you know,
- 14:37Speaker 3: with my father yesterday. We went and had lunch sitting
- 14:40Speaker 3: in a restaurant, and I like, see, you know, some
- 14:41Speaker 3: girls looking at me, and I'm like, they think I'm
- 14:44Speaker 3: an asshole. They probably think I'm an asshole. Like they're
- 14:46Speaker 3: probably thinking.
- 14:47Speaker 1: What's going to be hard? That's that's gotta be hard
- 14:49Speaker 1: moving in.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Oklahoma or you know, like yeah, yeah, but like that
- 14:52Speaker 3: every time, like every interaction all the time until I
- 14:55Speaker 3: get some form of like comfort. So I've been keeping
- 14:58Speaker 3: myself for a decade.
- 14:59Speaker 1: You know, so right, I just I get it.
- 15:01Speaker 3: That's tough, you know, don't think that way.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean when you look back on it too,
- 15:08Speaker 2: you know, if you had to, if you had to
- 15:09Speaker 2: think about it from on a zero to one hundred scale,
- 15:12Speaker 2: you know, what percentage of your actions and your words
- 15:18Speaker 2: and your you know, responses, I guess your emotional responses.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Do you think we're influenced by the producers on that
- 15:24Speaker 2: show from a zero to one hundred scale.
- 15:27Speaker 3: I mean I think it was once there was the producer,
- 15:31Speaker 3: so it was from like episode one or two. Basically,
- 15:34Speaker 3: once the producers influenced that, Hey, we want you to
- 15:37Speaker 3: go this direction and we want to see more of
- 15:39Speaker 3: this side of you, then I didn't need really that much,
- 15:43Speaker 3: you know what I mean influencing. Yeah, you were just going, yeah,
- 15:47Speaker 3: you know what I mean.
- 15:48Speaker 6: But but I wouldn't beyond you know what I mean,
- 15:51Speaker 6: that same path, Like yeah, so it's like from what
- 15:54Speaker 6: I actually would do to where I you know what
- 15:56Speaker 6: it was is huge, but it didn't it didn't.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Require any producer, you know, interruption. But also I wouldn't
- 16:03Speaker 3: even be in let's say this entire like like i'd
- 16:06Speaker 3: be in an argument, or i'd be in you know, uh,
- 16:10Speaker 3: just just in the middle of a scene or something.
- 16:12Speaker 3: And I'm like you, I wouldn't be here had it
- 16:15Speaker 3: not happened three weeks ago or six months ago, that
- 16:20Speaker 3: you know, we split into this of this direction.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you know, I'm curious to you like that
- 16:25Speaker 2: kind of like that I guess it was sort of
- 16:27Speaker 2: like the swan song for you on the show. But uh,
- 16:30Speaker 2: you know the final interview you had with Chris Harrison
- 16:33Speaker 2: and and you know, I'm Bachelor in Paradise when he
- 16:35Speaker 2: was like, Okay, it's time to leave, you know what
- 16:38Speaker 2: that had to be. I would imagine that was probably
- 16:41Speaker 2: the because Chris was obviously the one, you know, staple
- 16:45Speaker 2: of the show every season up until that point. You know,
- 16:49Speaker 2: you know was that one that resonates a lot with
- 16:51Speaker 2: fans to this day.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yeah, people like that one that To be honest, though,
- 16:56Speaker 3: if you if you compare these two things, you'll immediately
- 16:58Speaker 3: make the connection. But if you've seen me spounding down
- 17:01Speaker 3: Kenny Powers, yeah that's all I did. I just before
- 17:05Speaker 3: I went on the show, I watched like episodes over
- 17:09Speaker 3: and over and over in case I needed to keep
- 17:11Speaker 3: that character as a backup. And so the moment they
- 17:13Speaker 3: told me they were kicking me off, I was like,
- 17:15Speaker 3: all right, well, I know that that character is popular
- 17:17Speaker 3: over here and it's doing well. I could just play
- 17:20Speaker 3: that character here and then will you know what I mean?
- 17:22Speaker 3: And so it was like it was my hail Mary
- 17:25Speaker 3: as like you're kicking me off. Let me give one
- 17:27Speaker 3: best like last big little fireworks show.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, well I was that it happened you were
- 17:35Speaker 1: able to do that. It was definitely there.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I mean, it's one of those things I think, you know,
- 17:40Speaker 2: especially now where there's so many seasons of the show,
- 17:43Speaker 2: you know, there are some standout moments over the years,
- 17:45Speaker 2: for better or for worse, right, and.
- 17:47Speaker 1: You never think about it.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Although oddly enough, it was the first thing I thought
- 17:50Speaker 2: of when when I found out I was going to
- 17:51Speaker 2: get to talk to you was I was like, man,
- 17:52Speaker 2: I wonder how this has affected him over the years,
- 17:54Speaker 2: because I can't imagine it's been easy to live that down,
- 17:59Speaker 2: especially you know with like you say that that isn't
- 18:02Speaker 2: who you feel you you.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Are, but you're kind of that's.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Going to live in people's head rent free for a
- 18:08Speaker 2: really long time.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you know. I mean, I'll tell you one thing,
- 18:12Speaker 3: you know, Like, the one thing that's taught me is
- 18:14Speaker 3: that no one like you could say anything to me.
- 18:19Speaker 3: I won't get upset. No one can make me upset,
- 18:22Speaker 3: like at all, because I have seen I have heard
- 18:26Speaker 3: the worst things a human can possibly hear, day in
- 18:29Speaker 3: day out, hundreds of comments a day, people in person.
- 18:32Speaker 3: So after just years of that, I'm just like a
- 18:36Speaker 3: stone wall, which is kind of like a superpower in
- 18:38Speaker 3: a way, because I choose. I choose when I'm happy,
- 18:41Speaker 3: I choose when I'm sad, I choose when I'm upset,
- 18:43Speaker 3: Like no one can affect me anymore.
- 18:45Speaker 2: But has that been I mean, did you seek therapy?
- 18:49Speaker 2: Did you go to see somebody? And like, I mean,
- 18:51Speaker 2: is this all self? Yeah? I mean there's no shame
- 18:54Speaker 2: in that game. Man, I'm just curious, you know, I
- 18:56Speaker 2: think I would have for sure.
- 18:58Speaker 3: I went to probably three or fourth therapy. I've read
- 19:01Speaker 3: probably five dozen books, I guess. You know, then just
- 19:06Speaker 3: spend hundreds thousands of hours just meditating, watching whether YouTube
- 19:12Speaker 3: videos and on you know, spirituality and trying to find
- 19:15Speaker 3: God and trying to find meaning and what was the
- 19:17Speaker 3: point of all this? And why did this happen? Am
- 19:19Speaker 3: I supposed to become stronger?
- 19:21Speaker 2: Like?
- 19:21Speaker 3: Is that? Why did I put myself in this position
- 19:24Speaker 3: for this? You know what I mean?
- 19:26Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:26Speaker 3: Did I bring this on myself on purpose?
- 19:29Speaker 2: You know?
- 19:30Speaker 3: It's like, so I don't blame anyone or anything. It's
- 19:33Speaker 3: like I definitely put myself here for some reason, whether
- 19:36Speaker 3: I like it, or not, because when they when they
- 19:38Speaker 3: start trying to push this character, I could have gone,
- 19:40Speaker 3: you know, the other way, right right, but I didn't.
- 19:43Speaker 1: So you made the choice, right, You made the choice.
- 19:46Speaker 2: You went with it and got the good, the good
- 19:49Speaker 2: of it, which I guess was a lot of at
- 19:51Speaker 2: that time anyway, a lot of camera time, and then
- 19:53Speaker 2: you got the bad of it, which as a result
- 19:55Speaker 2: of that camera time, you got a lot of backlash
- 19:57Speaker 2: and a lot of tough years, tough years that you
- 19:59Speaker 2: had to with some stuff, right, kind.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Of like that. You know, the people that inherit a
- 20:02Speaker 3: lot of money randomly when they're a kid, they never
- 20:04Speaker 3: really appreciate it, that type of thing, and they never
- 20:07Speaker 3: get to learn the desperation that it takes to like
- 20:09Speaker 3: build a successful business. I put I forced myself into
- 20:12Speaker 3: desperation through the turmoil and trauma that I had to take.
- 20:17Speaker 3: And I forced myself to go through a decade of
- 20:20Speaker 3: trauma by putting myself into that character, playing that role
- 20:22Speaker 3: and taking heat for it. And so now the things
- 20:26Speaker 3: that I know, the things that I forced myself to
- 20:27Speaker 3: study and with meditating and God and spirituality and just
- 20:30Speaker 3: learning and learning business and have to take care of
- 20:33Speaker 3: myself because no shows are calling and no business will
- 20:35Speaker 3: take me because I couldn't work a job, any job
- 20:37Speaker 3: I was going to work. All I was going to
- 20:38Speaker 3: do is end up talking about the show, you know, right,
- 20:41Speaker 3: So you got a way to make money online. Yeah,
- 20:44Speaker 3: that's why my life has been and I think it's
- 20:46Speaker 3: got me to a better place. It took a very
- 20:48Speaker 3: long time. It wasn't fun, but I'm happy I'm here now.
- 20:53Speaker 2: You know.
- 20:53Speaker 3: I think it's made me a much stronger person than
- 20:55Speaker 3: I would have been had I not put myself into
- 20:58Speaker 3: that terrible of position. Right still would go back and
- 21:01Speaker 3: change it.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I understand, I understand. I mean it's it's definitely. Uh,
- 21:07Speaker 2: it's interesting to hear you talk about it. And I mean,
- 21:09Speaker 2: I'm sure you know.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I I don't.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I don't pretend to, you know, to know you or
- 21:14Speaker 2: your family, but I'm sure you know you set out
- 21:16Speaker 2: to make your mom proud, right by going on television
- 21:19Speaker 2: and and doing that stuff, And you know, she'd probably
- 21:23Speaker 2: be a lot more proud of the person you are
- 21:25Speaker 2: right now from all the work you've done on yourself then,
- 21:28Speaker 2: you know, just from having been on television. And I
- 21:30Speaker 2: don't know you so I hope you don't take offense
- 21:32Speaker 2: to me saying that, but you know, you can tell
- 21:35Speaker 2: you've done some work, you know, and that's tough to do, man,
- 21:37Speaker 2: it's a tough.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Thing to do.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, it's been a long road.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I really appreciate you coming on and talking
- 21:44Speaker 2: to us today. Thank you for being a part of
- 21:46Speaker 2: the show. I think, you know, like you said, you
- 21:49Speaker 2: you you you know, hopefully this opportunity to kind of
- 21:52Speaker 2: air some stuff out will make you feel a little
- 21:53Speaker 2: better about you know, the experiences that you've had and
- 21:56Speaker 2: and you know, it's not an easy road to get anywhere, right,
- 21:59Speaker 2: the the journey is always uh you know, the fruit
- 22:04Speaker 2: right that everyone thinks the destination is the most important part,
- 22:06Speaker 2: but it's getting there that's the tough work.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Work, yeah, with the destination, but the journey on this
- 22:13Speaker 3: last last night.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Yeah, well you put in the work, man, and uh,
- 22:17Speaker 2: you know, I wish you the very best and and
- 22:19Speaker 2: and thank you so much for making time for us
- 22:21Speaker 2: and and for being you know, for being vulnerable and
- 22:23Speaker 2: being willing to talk about this stuff. I'm sure it's
- 22:25Speaker 2: not easy.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, Thanks Bob.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Thanks, You're welcome, man, all Right, we'll take care of Chad.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Thanks for being on Infamous Man. We appreciate it all right.
