Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello again.
- 0:00Speaker 2: It's been a couple of weeks, hasn't it since FPL launched.
- 0:03Speaker 2: I think gradually everyone's awakening and getting excited. I'm seeing
- 0:07Speaker 2: more and more people as the days and weeks go
- 0:09Speaker 2: on saying they're opening the app, they're sorting their teams out,
- 0:13Speaker 2: and they're watching pre season. So we're going to run
- 0:16Speaker 2: through our drafts very shortly. I promise you mine is
- 0:18Speaker 2: a lot better. I'm going to start this pub with
- 0:19Speaker 2: an apology because I was not in a fit States
- 0:21Speaker 2: pod last time. But everyone's feeling a lot better now,
- 0:24Speaker 2: including Jewels. Because if you're watching this on YouTube, reminder
- 0:28Speaker 2: we are on YouTube. As you'll see, he's selling himself,
- 0:31Speaker 2: aren't you Jewels?
- 0:33Speaker 3: He okays, Hello everyone, it's just holiday time, you know,
- 0:36Speaker 3: so FBL and holidays on the beach is perfect.
- 0:39Speaker 1: It is holiday time. And I was on holiday last week.
- 0:42Speaker 2: And I kept seeing one man, John from Halifax shout out.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Kept seeing him at the breakfast buffet, the kids disco,
- 0:47Speaker 2: and we had a lot of FBL chat. And he's
- 0:51Speaker 2: loyal because he said that he went on on the
- 0:52Speaker 2: day and tried to get a low team ID. He's
- 0:54Speaker 2: a proper player anyway, Sam, how are.
- 0:57Speaker 1: You all good?
- 0:58Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 0:58Speaker 5: I enjoyed trying to get a load tea, my dear.
- 1:00Speaker 5: That was fun. But yeah, I've not been on my holidays. Yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 5: you two are making me jealous. So got a couple
- 1:05Speaker 5: of weeks till mine I would come. Yeah, I gotta
- 1:07Speaker 5: get game. We went out the way first. Then I
- 1:09Speaker 5: can have a holiday where Jeels I have to.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Squeeze it in before the season starts. Weirdly, all the
- 1:15Speaker 2: preseason interviews have already started this week. That really has
- 1:17Speaker 2: to no break this summer, but that's the way we
- 1:19Speaker 2: like it. Of course, Jules, have you been keeping an
- 1:20Speaker 2: eye on preseason while you've been.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Out there though?
- 1:23Speaker 3: Yes, I have kids and we'll focus on the big
- 1:26Speaker 3: clubs for now. We can do maybe a bit more
- 1:29Speaker 3: next week, but some of them have already played, some
- 1:31Speaker 3: are playing tonight the second game or over the weekend.
- 1:34Speaker 3: But if we start with Arsenal the champions, obviously, the
- 1:36Speaker 3: first preseason game against Girona was one for one. I
- 1:41Speaker 3: think it was a really good display. Max Dammond was excellent,
- 1:44Speaker 3: scored a goal played on that right hand side.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Have it also scored.
- 1:48Speaker 3: We saw good for Soulis on his kind of debut
- 1:50Speaker 3: if you want on a friendly game, Gabrius also scored.
- 1:54Speaker 3: We saw a more scare in cap here partnership at
- 1:57Speaker 3: center back, so there was a lot of interesting things
- 1:59Speaker 3: if you want to in Arsenal Calafiuria left back for
- 2:01Speaker 3: example as well. They played tonight so on Wednesday night
- 2:05Speaker 3: against Bettis in Dublin, so something to keep an eye on.
- 2:09Speaker 3: For example, Monster City drew with inter one one Divan
- 2:15Speaker 3: Obama's court. So a few of the youngsters at the
- 2:17Speaker 3: club I thought did really well, Mbama being one, Ryan
- 2:21Speaker 3: mcadoob being the other one who's only eighteen years old,
- 2:23Speaker 3: may have a cameo road to play this season for
- 2:26Speaker 3: endSo Mareska or all. We saw Phil furn as the
- 2:29Speaker 3: number ten Semnia with an assist. There was still no
- 2:32Speaker 3: Doku for example, and some of the World Cup players
- 2:35Speaker 3: that they have they played tonight so again on Wednesday
- 2:37Speaker 3: night against the old Stars from the current league.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Master United actually to comment.
- 2:42Speaker 3: With two to one to Gold for and Bomo, who
- 2:44Speaker 3: plays at a number nine, So if you're thinking about
- 2:46Speaker 3: a United asset, Brandon Boomo was a number nine, was
- 2:49Speaker 3: very very efficient in that game. Showa left back, Yo
- 2:53Speaker 3: right back for example, two Chelsea lost to one to
- 2:57Speaker 3: Sam's beloved Spurs last minute from Richardison. We were wont
- 3:02Speaker 3: doering if Belonso we played with the backfower of back four.
- 3:05Speaker 3: He played with the back four in that game. We'd
- 3:06Speaker 3: had to left back for example, and Palestra, the young
- 3:09Speaker 3: Italian player that they signed in the summer a right
- 3:11Speaker 3: back Steve Aer scored for them and as I mentioned,
- 3:15Speaker 3: Richarlison scored the winner lactonally in that game in a
- 3:19Speaker 3: fourth three three formation for Spurs, and deserve Joe Pedro
- 3:22Speaker 3: was really good again by the way for Chelsea. And
- 3:25Speaker 3: then finally Liverpool lost four to two against Leeds in
- 3:29Speaker 3: the US on their preseason. They went to one up
- 3:31Speaker 3: and then collapsed completely in the last twenty minutes or
- 3:34Speaker 3: so and considered three goals verts playing as a ten
- 3:37Speaker 3: scoring a goal. Rio and Gomua was on the left wing,
- 3:40Speaker 3: which was really good. Eastac played at the number nine
- 3:44Speaker 3: not so good. So there's I think there's a lot
- 3:46Speaker 3: of pondering for Iraula to do with Liverpool.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Very impressive considering you on holiday, you managed.
- 3:51Speaker 1: To keep across a lot of it there.
- 3:54Speaker 2: That's where I've got a cough, which isn't going to
- 3:55Speaker 2: help this part, but I guess there's a lot of
- 3:57Speaker 2: escaping from the kids and using it as an excuse.
- 4:01Speaker 4: And the rest of the five million Lodgers, the kids,
- 4:04Speaker 4: we know you too well.
- 4:05Speaker 1: We know you too well.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Transfers as well, Sam, I think we touched upon a
- 4:08Speaker 2: few of them on the last pub because some of
- 4:09Speaker 2: them had happened. I know we spoke about Morgan Rodgers
- 4:12Speaker 2: going to Chelsea, for example, but of course it's the
- 4:14Speaker 2: busy time of year, isn't it. If any caught your
- 4:16Speaker 2: eye in terms of could be of interesting FBL.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Yeah, there's been a few that have happened. So if
- 4:21Speaker 5: you remember back in my first draft I had Carl
- 4:23Speaker 5: Rushworth in my team. He's now made that move back
- 4:26Speaker 5: to Coventry, so that makes for another interesting goalkeeper choice
- 4:30Speaker 5: if he wants to go there and rotates Nicety Wispurs.
- 4:32Speaker 5: As I think I mentioned last time out, we've got
- 4:35Speaker 5: Mamadu Sangari now at Brentford. He could be a really
- 4:38Speaker 5: exciting prospect for us in FPL. He could be the
- 4:42Speaker 5: kind of next Elliott Anderson, if you like. So we've
- 4:44Speaker 5: got to keep an eye on him in pre season
- 4:46Speaker 5: because what we might see is a number of deafcon
- 4:48Speaker 5: being wrapped up there and if we've got a cheap
- 4:50Speaker 5: enabler in our teams like that, then again that will
- 4:53Speaker 5: make budgeting for the rest of the team so much easier.
- 4:56Speaker 5: MaxEnt Laqua made the move from Crystal Palace to Chelsea again,
- 4:59Speaker 5: that could be a really nice option for us. He
- 5:02Speaker 5: has been pretty consistent over the last couple of seasons
- 5:05Speaker 5: at Crystal Palace, not so much in the attacking threat stuff.
- 5:07Speaker 5: He's had a goal and two assists and eleven clean
- 5:10Speaker 5: sheets in the last two seasons, so he's pretty consistent.
- 5:14Speaker 5: But it's the deaf con threat again with him that
- 5:16Speaker 5: makes him really interesting and in that Chelsea team he
- 5:18Speaker 5: could do really well. Those are the kind of three
- 5:22Speaker 5: main ones I think for me that offer some real interest.
- 5:24Speaker 5: And Valentine Barco is back, so those of you that
- 5:27Speaker 5: remember a few years ago had him in our drafts
- 5:29Speaker 5: and then he disappeared off before it even played in
- 5:31Speaker 5: game we won, which was very frustrating. But he's back
- 5:34Speaker 5: and could be of interest. We'll have to see how
- 5:36Speaker 5: that goes over the next couple of weeks.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Any others you want to add to that. Jeeles that
- 5:40Speaker 1: have caught You're.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Right, Yeah.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Gonzolo Gacia from Ramdrid to Fulham I think is an
- 5:44Speaker 3: interesting one. He's not in the game just yet, so
- 5:46Speaker 3: we don't know the price, the pricing and the value.
- 5:50Speaker 3: But he was very efficient when he played and he
- 5:52Speaker 3: didn't play that much for Madrid, including at the Club
- 5:55Speaker 3: World Cup for the people who remember that a year ago.
- 5:58Speaker 3: And I think it could be interesting because I think
- 6:00Speaker 3: he will start for Fulham, so depending on the pricing
- 6:03Speaker 3: as a third forwards that I think in an Arbelo.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Arbelo a team who knows him really well, and I
- 6:09Speaker 3: think we play on his strength. He's a great finisher
- 6:12Speaker 3: right full left, foreheader, this kind of number nine really
- 6:15Speaker 3: if you see what I mean. I completely agree with
- 6:18Speaker 3: someone on Songari at Brentford's, who we saw a lot
- 6:22Speaker 3: in France obviously because he was playing in France last season,
- 6:25Speaker 3: who is a deaf com monster and I think will
- 6:27Speaker 3: have a huge impact on this Branford team and we'll
- 6:30Speaker 3: do really well. And his price at five point five million,
- 6:33Speaker 3: so I think it's a really disurprised for what he
- 6:35Speaker 3: can bring to this team. And then the other one
- 6:37Speaker 3: I would mention is Danny Welbeck, who you know, went
- 6:40Speaker 3: to Chelsea and we don't know if he will have
- 6:43Speaker 3: the same season as as the last one at Brighton
- 6:46Speaker 3: on even the same game time.
- 6:47Speaker 4: But I think again, he is a very interesting player
- 6:51Speaker 4: to look at.
- 6:51Speaker 3: If if he starts getting game time, and if, for example,
- 6:54Speaker 3: he plays up front and jew Pedro finds himself in
- 6:56Speaker 3: another position with Rogers and Palmer, then you will have
- 6:59Speaker 3: a lot of options to pick from, depending on your
- 7:02Speaker 3: budget and where you want to spend your money.
- 7:04Speaker 4: From the Chelsea attack, Yeah, I.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Saw a lot of people when that transfer went through
- 7:08Speaker 2: kind of saying, oh, is that going to affect schwel Pedro.
- 7:11Speaker 2: So yeah, that's something else to think about, I guess.
- 7:13Speaker 2: So let's get to the good bit then, guys. Well
- 7:15Speaker 2: that's what I think is a good bit anyway. Team updates,
- 7:18Speaker 2: Draft updates. I won't ask what draft number on because
- 7:22Speaker 2: I think we're all on about four hundred and eighty seven.
- 7:24Speaker 2: I'm sure I've certainly got a lot more into it,
- 7:26Speaker 2: and my draft looks a lot more. I mean, it's
- 7:28Speaker 2: still a bit imbalance, but it certainly looks a bit
- 7:30Speaker 2: more like if I had to start the season with it,
- 7:32Speaker 2: I wouldn't be quite scared as I would have the
- 7:33Speaker 2: other week. Sam, do you want to run through yours first?
- 7:39Speaker 5: Yeah, so, same two goalkeeper combination, Kinski and Brushworth. I
- 7:42Speaker 5: haven't moved off of that in any of the draft,
- 7:44Speaker 5: so I suspect that's pinkly where I'll end up.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I think so.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 5: The fact that I'm on about Draft eight hundred and
- 7:50Speaker 5: fifty five and I haven't changed them at all probably
- 7:53Speaker 5: means that that's likely to stick. Now a backline that
- 7:57Speaker 5: currently has more scare Gavadio, Mitchell van Heck and then Thomas.
- 8:02Speaker 5: I might still shave point five off of that by
- 8:05Speaker 5: having Diop instead of Mitchell, because that would enable me
- 8:08Speaker 5: to upgrade elsewhere. But we'll see about that.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Midfield you've a hold on You've got rid of Gabrielle.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Yeah, no, Gabrielle.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Sorry, but I got so much stick on the last
- 8:18Speaker 2: pod and you said, I remember your words have echoed
- 8:20Speaker 2: around my head. Oh you're going to get the fear
- 8:23Speaker 2: kill in. You're going to bring Gabrielle. Not once have
- 8:25Speaker 2: I bought in Gabrielle, and I've stayed back.
- 8:27Speaker 1: If you've come over to the dark side, the light.
- 8:29Speaker 5: Side or the light side. Yeah, whichever way you look
- 8:32Speaker 5: at it. Yeah, it's interesting, isn't it, Because I think
- 8:34Speaker 5: when you first build it, I love the idea of
- 8:36Speaker 5: having Gabrielle in there. And obviously, when it comes to
- 8:39Speaker 5: picking an Arsenal defender, picking Gabrielle is the obvious choice.
- 8:43Speaker 5: But at eight million, and when we're talking about an
- 8:46Speaker 5: extra two and a half million of budget, it is
- 8:49Speaker 5: quite it's quite hard, and it's very tempting not to
- 8:54Speaker 5: just move that budget elsewhere because it does significantly upgrade
- 8:57Speaker 5: what you can do in the midfield and across that
- 8:58Speaker 5: forward line. So yeah, that's where I'm at the minute.
- 9:01Speaker 5: We've got a lot of preseason to play out, and
- 9:03Speaker 5: as was mentioned at the beginning, we've got you know,
- 9:05Speaker 5: other competitions where we can see what Arsenal we're up to.
- 9:08Speaker 5: So I will keep my eyes on that Arsenal defense.
- 9:11Speaker 5: But I am really tempted to save a little bit
- 9:14Speaker 5: of money there. Okay, let's in fact, let's we've done
- 9:17Speaker 5: your keepers and defense. Let's use Joss keepers and defense.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Yeah, so I've changed mine. Remember how don our room in.
- 9:25Speaker 3: And I went for Verbrugen and Kinski because we saw
- 9:28Speaker 3: Kinski already playing.
- 9:30Speaker 4: I think he's guaranteed to be the number one A Spurs.
- 9:32Speaker 3: I think Spurs will concede goals because of the way
- 9:34Speaker 3: they will play, and that's a deserve it team and
- 9:36Speaker 3: that's fine. But I think he will also be very good.
- 9:39Speaker 3: We'll make a lot of saves, and I think Verbrugen
- 9:41Speaker 3: is a similar one. But for the two of them
- 9:43Speaker 3: at four point five million, I think you take that really.
- 9:47Speaker 3: So I've got them to now and try to rotate
- 9:50Speaker 3: them and you know, pick the right one each week.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I've dropped Gabrielle as well. From my defense, Oh my gosh,
- 9:58Speaker 3: this is because you're divorce of wisdom, Cares, you're the
- 10:01Speaker 3: voice of wisdom, and you're the one.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Right taking you this long. But you've started to listen to.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Me only because and we'll get to the structure of
- 10:11Speaker 3: all our teams and what you do with premiums and
- 10:13Speaker 3: stuff later on. But I think if you want, let's say,
- 10:17Speaker 3: you know, Bruno and Rogers and Harland, I think just
- 10:20Speaker 3: gabriel doesn't fit in. If you want Bruno, Sacca and
- 10:23Speaker 3: Harland for example, there's no room for Gabrila. Or if
- 10:27Speaker 3: you want to go there, then the rest of the
- 10:29Speaker 3: players is US three and some rubbish enablers really, so
- 10:33Speaker 3: I think it's very difficult to fit Gabriel in your
- 10:35Speaker 3: team if you already want Sacca, Bruno and Harland there.
- 10:38Speaker 4: So it's whatever you prefer in terms of premiums.
- 10:42Speaker 3: But I think with most Querra in it looks like
- 10:45Speaker 3: he would start the season certainly, And we don't know
- 10:47Speaker 3: yet when Gabriel is going to come back. Will he
- 10:49Speaker 3: play on the Community Shield, will he play the first
- 10:51Speaker 3: game of the season, then after that, because he hasn't
- 10:54Speaker 3: come back to training just yet, so let's wait and
- 10:58Speaker 3: then if something happened with gabrielle if he started the
- 11:00Speaker 3: scene really well, will we should play our wild card
- 11:04Speaker 3: quite soon? Anyway, I think in that first half of
- 11:06Speaker 3: the season, around that long international break maybe, so then
- 11:10Speaker 3: there's time to change. Anyway, So I'll have Mosquerra and
- 11:14Speaker 3: now instead of Gabriel if you want for the Arsenal defense,
- 11:17Speaker 3: that enables me to bring Gay in because I lost
- 11:20Speaker 3: on a rumor, so I still have a city defender,
- 11:22Speaker 3: a bit like what Sam did with Guardiol. I've got
- 11:25Speaker 3: concert because I still think a four point five million
- 11:27Speaker 3: concert is must have because it's such a great value
- 11:31Speaker 3: for money. And then the other two are job a
- 11:34Speaker 3: four million and Von Heywig from Coventry a four million
- 11:37Speaker 3: as well.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Okay, interesting, just a word on I've got Gavardio as well.
- 11:42Speaker 2: In my defense, I had, I had Irilly I think
- 11:44Speaker 2: on the last part. Then I did go to Gayhe.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Now I've gone down to Gavardio mainly because of the comments,
- 11:49Speaker 2: and it sounds like he's going to be quite central
- 11:52Speaker 2: to what Yeah Resk is going to be doing there.
- 11:54Speaker 2: And I think he mentioned Harland Foden Gavardio, didn't he
- 11:57Speaker 2: And we know that Vardio has got goal threat and
- 11:59Speaker 2: the like.
- 12:00Speaker 1: He's a little bit cheaper than gay Were you not
- 12:02Speaker 1: tempted to go there? Jeee? Why are you spending more
- 12:04Speaker 1: on Gayhe?
- 12:04Speaker 5: It's interesting?
- 12:05Speaker 4: No I did. I did. It's just.
- 12:09Speaker 3: I thought Gayy was a superb last season and I
- 12:12Speaker 3: know he's a six million now, which is obviously more
- 12:14Speaker 3: than what we used to see him a palace And
- 12:16Speaker 3: I really hesitated between the two, to be fair, and
- 12:18Speaker 3: I went for Gayhey because I had enough money and
- 12:21Speaker 3: because I still thought that if there's a bit of rotation,
- 12:24Speaker 3: despite what Mariska said and despite Vardio being left footed,
- 12:27Speaker 3: which he really likes having a left footed there.
- 12:31Speaker 4: I just thought that Gayhey might be more locked in.
- 12:34Speaker 3: But to be fair, one or the other, as long
- 12:36Speaker 3: as I think you need, I think you need a
- 12:37Speaker 3: city defender, whoever you choose. Orriley I think is the
- 12:40Speaker 3: second most owned defender now with twenty two percent of
- 12:43Speaker 3: the managers having him, just behind Gabrielle with twenty five,
- 12:47Speaker 3: but ahead of Gayhee, Vardil, Virgil, you.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Know, anybody else.
- 12:51Speaker 3: So clearly a lot of the managers are going for
- 12:55Speaker 3: are going for O'Reilly. But yeah, I think with already
- 12:59Speaker 3: I'm to show exactly where he will play and like that.
- 13:02Speaker 3: But between Vargel and Geee, I think he's really what
- 13:05Speaker 3: you prefer between the two.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I think Samu you and nodding along with me with
- 13:08Speaker 2: those comments when you heard about gavardi Old potentially being central,
- 13:11Speaker 2: with the fact that o'reiley's been at the World Cup
- 13:13Speaker 2: as well, and we don't quite know where he's paid
- 13:15Speaker 2: at the moment. At five point five million, for me,
- 13:17Speaker 2: he just feels incredibly great value. I mean, I had
- 13:21Speaker 2: Kirks and then maybe have something to do with the
- 13:24Speaker 2: fact that they shipped all those goals against Leeds. I
- 13:25Speaker 2: don't know, but I just felt like Jills said, like
- 13:27Speaker 2: five point five million city defender who were getting all
- 13:29Speaker 2: the right noises from watching me dropped in gave week one.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Now just feels like a bit of a bit of
- 13:34Speaker 2: a gift to us. So I've got moscaa Gvardil. I've
- 13:37Speaker 2: also got Conza as well Jeels because I was really
- 13:40Speaker 2: surprised when I saw him priced at four point five million,
- 13:42Speaker 2: and I love it when there's a cheap England player,
- 13:45Speaker 2: and we've also got I've.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Also gone for Luke Shaw as well.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I've had Harry Maguire and in a lot of my drafts,
- 13:49Speaker 2: and then actually Luke Shaw's a little bit cheaper. I
- 13:52Speaker 2: don't know if I'll definitely stick with him. I worry
- 13:53Speaker 2: about the injuries, of course, but United fixtures are good.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I'll keep an eye on pre season, but just sort
- 13:59Speaker 2: of four point five five million he was good value.
- 14:00Speaker 2: And then Thomas as well. You'll probably spend quite a
- 14:03Speaker 2: lot of time on my bench, particularly at the start
- 14:05Speaker 2: of the season.
- 14:05Speaker 1: But you never know.
- 14:06Speaker 2: We're always looking for those cheap newly promoted players, aren't we.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Oh my goalkeepers are currently Kinski because it feels like
- 14:12Speaker 2: everyone in the world is going to start with him.
- 14:15Speaker 2: But at that price point for a Spurs starting goalkeeper
- 14:18Speaker 2: four point five million, we're being.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Told that Spurs are going to be great.
- 14:22Speaker 2: So let's let's see, let's watch, let's watch. Yeah, maybe
- 14:27Speaker 2: I'm just being influenced because it's not very often I
- 14:29Speaker 2: started the season with the Spurs player. I've got to
- 14:31Speaker 2: Bravka as my backup at the moment, but that's just
- 14:33Speaker 2: because he's cheap and I haven't really I'm going to
- 14:36Speaker 2: see demoslairs goalkeepers. Yeah, but if I don't really like
- 14:40Speaker 2: rotating goalkeepers. I don't like that headache, but it does
- 14:44Speaker 2: make me a little bit uneasy. So I'll see if
- 14:46Speaker 2: i can fine point five later on when I'm toying
- 14:48Speaker 2: with my drafts, and i'd go to another four point
- 14:50Speaker 2: five starting keeper, I think into midfield, Gone, Jewels, you
- 14:53Speaker 2: go first this time, Okay.
- 14:55Speaker 3: So I've got with Bruno Fanners and I think for me,
- 14:58Speaker 3: and again we talk about that no I had Soaka
- 15:02Speaker 3: in and I think it's for me. It's a straight
- 15:04Speaker 3: pick between one of the others. So I've got a
- 15:06Speaker 3: draft with both of them. Socca and Bruno, and to
- 15:09Speaker 3: be fair, that squad is decent. I think, yeah, you
- 15:14Speaker 3: have both. I think you can you can build with
- 15:16Speaker 3: both and haland obviously and have that's your three premiums
- 15:20Speaker 3: and I have a really good team. But obviously if
- 15:23Speaker 3: you go for one or the other, so Socca or
- 15:25Speaker 3: Bruno with Harland, then you've got more options, You've got
- 15:28Speaker 3: more money to spend, especially if you go with Socca.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Instead of Bruno.
- 15:32Speaker 3: So but I went for Bruno because United's first two
- 15:35Speaker 3: fixtures especially, and I think he's guaranteed to play with
- 15:38Speaker 3: Michael Carrig obviously very good. I kept Rogers in simply
- 15:44Speaker 3: because he's cheaper than Coo Palma. And I still think
- 15:46Speaker 3: Rogers is a really good signing for Chablonzo, even if
- 15:49Speaker 3: he's still currently on holidays and we haven't seen him
- 15:52Speaker 3: yet just yet playing because of what you know, because
- 15:55Speaker 3: he went so far the World Cup, Iliman and Jai
- 15:57Speaker 3: six million with Everton. I think he had a good
- 15:59Speaker 3: season last year and we'll be very good again this season.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Yeah maybe, but then we.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Cross that bridge when when that happens, if it happens,
- 16:09Speaker 3: and to be fair, Elemeninga are a bigger club lested
- 16:13Speaker 3: only a stronger team in a stronger team than Everton
- 16:16Speaker 3: right now would be very interesting to see. I put
- 16:19Speaker 3: so listen because I think he's going to start on
- 16:22Speaker 3: the left hand side for Arsenal the season and again
- 16:26Speaker 3: I likewise saw from him in that yearn again on
- 16:28Speaker 3: pre season, So let's see what he does against Bettis
- 16:31Speaker 3: on Wednesday night. And then Enzola is my fifth one
- 16:34Speaker 3: because I think he's going to bring a lot of
- 16:37Speaker 3: deaf con is going to be on penalties, very likely
- 16:39Speaker 3: again on set pieces, and I'm not sure if something
- 16:44Speaker 3: will be as good as they were last season, especially
- 16:46Speaker 3: by playing in Europe too at the same time, but
- 16:49Speaker 3: I think if there's one player that you could believe
- 16:51Speaker 3: in in terms of consistency and talent is definitely Enzos.
- 16:54Speaker 4: So I've gone for him.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Yeah, he's on my watch list as well. Sam, have
- 16:58Speaker 1: you gone through in the field?
- 17:00Speaker 5: So Bruno and Dominic Sabosla remain from my original draft
- 17:05Speaker 5: I fully brought into the Maresca comments, and so Phil
- 17:08Speaker 5: Frankner's now is now making an appearance in my draft.
- 17:13Speaker 5: A million. He's seven million, yeah, and I think it's
- 17:16Speaker 5: seven million for an extra city attacking player. It just
- 17:19Speaker 5: feels really nice, so I've gone with him for now,
- 17:24Speaker 5: and then Danny Welbeck leaving Brighton means that I'm expecting
- 17:27Speaker 5: Pascal Gross to have more set piece responsibility. So and
- 17:31Speaker 5: I did love owning Pascal Groce at the back end
- 17:33Speaker 5: of last season. He was the one that went a
- 17:34Speaker 5: long way and turning my season round if you remember.
- 17:36Speaker 5: So Pascal Gross is there. I've currently with this draft
- 17:39Speaker 5: got a million in the bank, so I've still got
- 17:41Speaker 5: Matt Grimes from Coventry in there in my fifth midfielder slot.
- 17:45Speaker 5: But he might very well get an upgrade to a
- 17:47Speaker 5: six million midfielder. But then it depends on where I
- 17:50Speaker 5: go with my chips and how much I think I
- 17:53Speaker 5: might want to play my Coventry players in game week
- 17:55Speaker 5: two as to whether I keep him and then change
- 17:57Speaker 5: it up on wildcard because I do really like Sangar,
- 18:00Speaker 5: so I might move from Grimes to Sangari and go
- 18:02Speaker 5: with him instead.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Okay, we've got a lot of similarities because I've also
- 18:05Speaker 2: gone pastcal Gross. I'm sorry, but for five point five
- 18:08Speaker 2: million a set pastaker. As soon as Welbeck went, I
- 18:11Speaker 2: was just like, it's great because it's enabled me still
- 18:14Speaker 2: to have Fernandez, Suboslai and Soccer. I'm still not one
- 18:18Speaker 2: hundred percent and I will wait and see when Socca
- 18:20Speaker 2: comes back. The noises that one could go down to
- 18:23Speaker 2: the wire, to be honest, because I don't think he's
- 18:25Speaker 2: going to start, then I'm not going to waste all
- 18:26Speaker 2: that money on him. But at the moment, actually, Danny
- 18:29Speaker 2: Welbeck moving has enabled me to keep Socca insidantly, So
- 18:31Speaker 2: that's my starting for midfield, and then I've got Slater
- 18:35Speaker 2: from harl on the bench. Is my four point five
- 18:37Speaker 2: million But that's obviously the compromise that you have to
- 18:39Speaker 2: make when you've spent so much money on those players.
- 18:41Speaker 1: So yeah, not dead to say.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I think I'm interested actually about the positioning of Suboslai
- 18:47Speaker 2: because it looks like Verts Versus is a little bit
- 18:49Speaker 2: more expensive. But it looks like Versus going to play
- 18:51Speaker 2: in that ten, doesn't it. And actually that worries me
- 18:55Speaker 2: a little bit, and I'm wondering if we're all going
- 18:57Speaker 2: to regret not going that way.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Sam, Yeah, maybe he's point five more Verts. It's not
- 19:03Speaker 5: the end of the world. It's only point five. What's
- 19:06Speaker 5: interesting is that we're seeing them both doing different things,
- 19:08Speaker 5: so they're going to have different routes to points. Right,
- 19:10Speaker 5: Verts looks like he's going to play in that ten
- 19:13Speaker 5: off of Esak, so you would expect probably more goals
- 19:16Speaker 5: out of him. Dominisbosli has set piece, a lot of
- 19:20Speaker 5: set piece responsibility. You'd expect some assists from corners, that
- 19:24Speaker 5: kind of thing. I'd also expect if he's in the eight,
- 19:26Speaker 5: him to pick up the defensive contribution points and support
- 19:28Speaker 5: the defense as well. So I actually think that they
- 19:31Speaker 5: might be relatively level over the course of the season
- 19:33Speaker 5: when you play out the extra points that I think
- 19:35Speaker 5: the bos might pick up versus what Verts might do.
- 19:39Speaker 5: That is another thing I may do with that extra
- 19:41Speaker 5: money that I have in the bank. So I think
- 19:43Speaker 5: what we saw against Leeds in the at least in
- 19:45Speaker 5: the first sort of half of the game was they
- 19:48Speaker 5: both looked quite good. So let's see what what the
- 19:52Speaker 5: rest of the preseason pans out and what it looks
- 19:54Speaker 5: like for Liverpool. But there is definitely a case for
- 19:57Speaker 5: moving for suboslight Averts. But then we all started last
- 20:01Speaker 5: season with senate didn't end so well for us. So
- 20:04Speaker 5: whereas the Boslight was consistent over the course of the season,
- 20:08Speaker 5: consistently really really good and obviously had the summer off,
- 20:11Speaker 5: so I want to watch. I think between those two.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I feel I feel like Vert's is a bit more
- 20:16Speaker 2: of an erailar player, but I could be wrong.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Where do you stand on that tool?
- 20:19Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I agree, Supersid.
- 20:21Speaker 3: He's already owned by almost fifty percent of the miners,
- 20:24Speaker 3: so again, I think he's on forty eight or something
- 20:27Speaker 3: just below. If he does well, especially in the first
- 20:30Speaker 3: couple of games in the season, the first two game weeks,
- 20:33Speaker 3: and you don't have him and half of the game,
- 20:36Speaker 3: you know, apart from you as him, then that's going
- 20:39Speaker 3: to hurt you massively.
- 20:40Speaker 4: So that's something to keep in mind.
- 20:41Speaker 3: I mean, Rogers is quite heavily owned too, and he's
- 20:44Speaker 3: zero point five more expensive. But we've seen supper as
- 20:47Speaker 3: I play already, like Sam said, he had he had
- 20:49Speaker 3: the summer off, he's ready.
- 20:51Speaker 4: He would be ready to go. Rogers, we don't know yet.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Chad Belonzo might consider that he's not ready to play
- 20:56Speaker 3: before the start of September four we know, so that's
- 20:59Speaker 3: also to keep something in mind.
- 21:02Speaker 4: Vilts went to the World Cup.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Obviously, it was home much earlier than than Rogers, for example,
- 21:06Speaker 3: or the or the players in the game. So it's
- 21:10Speaker 3: it's it depends, I think Vilts. I think a lot
- 21:13Speaker 3: of what Irala is going to do will be built
- 21:15Speaker 3: around Viltz and Issac and Riley certainly with the ball,
- 21:18Speaker 3: but you can also play a right back frame. Punk
- 21:21Speaker 3: picked up a small injury again in the game against
- 21:24Speaker 3: Leeds that we mentioned earlier, and really there's no other
- 21:27Speaker 3: right back right now or good enough certainly or better
- 21:30Speaker 3: than even so like playing there.
- 21:32Speaker 4: So we might have some.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Games where Soos like maybe deputize again left right back
- 21:38Speaker 3: Storry like he did last season, but if he plays
- 21:40Speaker 3: in midfield, seven million is a really good investment.
- 21:44Speaker 1: M hmm. Okay. Then moving on to forwards, I think
- 21:47Speaker 1: it could be quite similar.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Sam uh yeah, Harlan jil Pedro. I'm currently on egor Jaesus.
- 21:56Speaker 5: Oh so was I and I changed a couple of
- 21:58Speaker 5: days ago. Interesting. Well, I've been backwards and forwards and
- 22:02Speaker 5: backwards and forwards on that position because I've had Selanki
- 22:05Speaker 5: in there for a little while. I've had Igor jay
- 22:08Speaker 5: Zus in there for a little while. I've had Olie
- 22:10Speaker 5: McBurnie in there for a little while. I just kind
- 22:12Speaker 5: of can't decide on that third forward slot whether I
- 22:14Speaker 5: want to spend six. I've had Mateta in there as well,
- 22:17Speaker 5: whether I want to pay six and a half six
- 22:19Speaker 5: or five and a half, And I think it depends
- 22:21Speaker 5: on where I settle in terms of that Grimes position
- 22:23Speaker 5: in midfield, because if I decide I wanted six and
- 22:25Speaker 5: a half or slightly more as my fourth midfielder and
- 22:29Speaker 5: have Pascal Gross's my fifth, then I need to find
- 22:32Speaker 5: a bit of budget. But Egor jay Zus has been
- 22:34Speaker 5: in fantastic form in pre seasons at his four and
- 22:37Speaker 5: four now for him, so really really good. And what
- 22:40Speaker 5: we're seeing with Selank is he starts the games. But
- 22:42Speaker 5: as Jews mentioned at the beginning when he was talking
- 22:44Speaker 5: about the friendly against Chelsea, it's Rich Charlison that comes
- 22:46Speaker 5: on and scores the winning goal, So I mean it
- 22:48Speaker 5: was very lucky and you know all of that jazz.
- 22:50Speaker 5: But nonetheless he's he is the one that's in form
- 22:54Speaker 5: in pre season, so it's quite tough to pick there
- 22:57Speaker 5: and I don't know Egor Jase's just it was like
- 23:00Speaker 5: the one to pick right now, so I'm tempted to
- 23:03Speaker 5: start with him. As things stand.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I was on him until the other day. I'm
- 23:08Speaker 2: on Harland Pedro and Calvert Lewin at the moment because
- 23:10Speaker 2: he's also been scoring for the front and I really
- 23:12Speaker 2: like Leeds his early fixtures. Though every time I own
- 23:16Speaker 2: Dominic Calvert Leewin it ends in a world of pain,
- 23:18Speaker 2: so I mean, I'm not totally sold on that, but
- 23:21Speaker 2: it looks quite nice in my team at the moment.
- 23:23Speaker 1: So it is him.
- 23:24Speaker 2: But as I said, I had Hadigle jaysus as well, Jews,
- 23:27Speaker 2: what are you on in front three?
- 23:29Speaker 3: So Harland and Rob Pedro I think like pretty much
- 23:32Speaker 3: of the whole world. My third one is Brian Brobi
- 23:37Speaker 3: because again it's what he brings to the Sunderland team.
- 23:42Speaker 5: And Sunderland attack sorry double Sunderland attack.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Well I'm not sure if Lafeees is Sunderland attacker really
- 23:49Speaker 3: in that sense, but yeah, yeah, and again I'm not
- 23:53Speaker 3: too convinced by the fight that they will have another
- 23:55Speaker 3: great season. We said that they were play in Europe too,
- 23:58Speaker 3: which I think is going to bump alow the energy anyway,
- 24:01Speaker 3: so we'll have to see. I just I just like
- 24:04Speaker 3: Robie's strength and I think the momentum from not just
- 24:08Speaker 3: last season or only the end of last season, but
- 24:10Speaker 3: also him going to the World Cup and doing quite
- 24:13Speaker 3: well for disappointing Dutch team in the end. But still
- 24:16Speaker 3: I think that would bring him a lot of confidence
- 24:19Speaker 3: and to keep that kind of form into the start
- 24:21Speaker 3: of the season, So that that was the thinking about him.
- 24:25Speaker 3: There's there's a dominic A Luin as well in one
- 24:27Speaker 3: of the drafts. The thing about Igor Jesus is and
- 24:33Speaker 3: I think Glasna is going to play with the front
- 24:35Speaker 3: tower forest and Forests have I think Liverpool game week
- 24:39Speaker 3: two and Spurs game week three, something like that, which
- 24:42Speaker 3: is quite tough. So I was not sure about him,
- 24:45Speaker 3: despite him scoring against North County uh and another rubbish team.
- 24:49Speaker 4: I think in the second preseason game, I see where
- 24:53Speaker 4: you're coming from. Both of you.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Just yeah, I'm just not too convinced yet by gorgeous
- 24:58Speaker 3: and also the fund two. I think goals would be shared,
- 25:01Speaker 3: whether it's Wood that plays with him in front, whether
- 25:03Speaker 3: it's I don't know, even my boy callin Wundo.
- 25:05Speaker 4: I don't think we'll stay.
- 25:06Speaker 3: But still I think a front like a lung striker
- 25:11Speaker 3: obviously like a draw pedroad type or Haland type or
- 25:14Speaker 3: you know whoever Arsenal player front or Issac and that
- 25:17Speaker 3: kind of guys would be very different if you then
- 25:20Speaker 3: if you have a front two like like Forest will
- 25:22Speaker 3: have M.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know, I didn't feel I Also when
- 25:26Speaker 2: I look at Forest, I think if I want a
- 25:27Speaker 2: Morgan Gibbs White or someone like that.
- 25:29Speaker 1: So that's kind of also why I got rid.
- 25:30Speaker 2: It's hard, isn't it, because we can so get lured
- 25:32Speaker 2: into stuff in pre season, but it is only pre season,
- 25:34Speaker 2: but it's it's kind of all we've got to go
- 25:36Speaker 2: off at the moment.
- 25:36Speaker 5: So I think we watch ownership on that third one
- 25:40Speaker 5: because you want you don't want to go with somebody
- 25:42Speaker 5: too highly owned, and that third slot in some ways
- 25:45Speaker 5: in case it goes wrong and they don't start the season,
- 25:47Speaker 5: because they'd be the ones that people jump off quickly.
- 25:50Speaker 5: So like that's kind of where I always I am
- 25:52Speaker 5: thinking with with my cheaper options in every position, is
- 25:56Speaker 5: I don't want to go for necessarily the most popular
- 25:58Speaker 5: of those because if they don't start well, I could
- 26:02Speaker 5: see my team value drop because people will just get
- 26:04Speaker 5: off of them straight away. So it's a fine balance
- 26:07Speaker 5: that slot. And I think between the from six six
- 26:10Speaker 5: and a half right down to five and a half.
- 26:12Speaker 5: There are probably seven or eight viable options that you
- 26:15Speaker 5: could pick in that frontline, and it's just working out
- 26:17Speaker 5: who the right one is based on what we see
- 26:19Speaker 5: in pre season and then trying to use the fixtures
- 26:21Speaker 5: to kind of give you a head start onto who
- 26:24Speaker 5: is the best one.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Basically it's Harland Pedro plus one, isn't it And it's
- 26:28Speaker 2: kind of yeah, aim and hope.
- 26:29Speaker 1: It feels like yeah, yeah, and.
- 26:31Speaker 4: It depends on your budget.
- 26:32Speaker 3: But there's for example, a lot of love and ownership
- 26:35Speaker 3: for the young kid that Fulham signed from Bayern Munich,
- 26:38Speaker 3: Joana Couciosare, who is owned by almost nine percent of
- 26:41Speaker 3: the managers right now, he's on four point five million.
- 26:43Speaker 3: He's done really well in preseason. He scored with Gonzalo
- 26:46Speaker 3: Garcia arriving at Fulham. And Mooney's still being there obviously,
- 26:50Speaker 3: I think he's probably it's not going to play a
- 26:53Speaker 3: ton of minutes, although he looks very promising. He was
- 26:56Speaker 3: a very promising youngster anyway, and Fulham paid quite a
- 26:59Speaker 3: lot of money for him too, So you think when
- 27:00Speaker 3: you invest that kind of money, even on a young player,
- 27:02Speaker 3: it's also to develop him and play him and things
- 27:04Speaker 3: like that. But clearly a lot of the managers think
- 27:07Speaker 3: that that third spot a four point five is.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Good for him.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Then you've got more money to invest somewhere else. And
- 27:13Speaker 3: even if you have a high and drawer pedro fond
- 27:15Speaker 3: two and a very strong midfield, that's fine if that
- 27:18Speaker 3: Fulham kid stays on your bench for example.
- 27:20Speaker 5: Well it's fine if you're not planning to play a
- 27:21Speaker 5: bench beast early though, because that's the other thing to consider, because,
- 27:24Speaker 5: like Kels was saying, Scott de Bravka, that pretty much
- 27:26Speaker 5: rules out a game week one or game week two
- 27:27Speaker 5: bench boots, which is fine. I think as long as
- 27:29Speaker 5: you go into it with your eyes open knowing that
- 27:31Speaker 5: you can't bench boost or you probably don't want to
- 27:34Speaker 5: bench boost if you've got a risk, then that's okay.
- 27:37Speaker 5: But I think that's why deciding on a chip strategy,
- 27:40Speaker 5: or at least having a plan for a chip strategy,
- 27:41Speaker 5: is quite important.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Right now, clearly you've decided on yours.
- 27:44Speaker 5: Some gone, yeah, I'm not. I'm not planning to play
- 27:49Speaker 5: one in game week one or two, and I.
- 27:51Speaker 4: Still lunch boost thing in game week one and two.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Some is this something like, I don't know not people
- 27:56Speaker 1: are talking about it.
- 27:58Speaker 4: Feel that was never talked about before.
- 28:00Speaker 2: And I've been a bit because people build a squad,
- 28:02Speaker 2: don't they, And it's like if you've got all these
- 28:04Speaker 2: players and you want to play them all and then
- 28:06Speaker 2: once you've got rid of your bench boots or I
- 28:08Speaker 2: interrupted you a bit, then some But for me it's like,
- 28:10Speaker 2: once you've got rid of your bench boost, in a way,
- 28:11Speaker 2: you can have the cheapest bench ever and not worry
- 28:13Speaker 2: about your bench almost.
- 28:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I think there's a couple of things to it,
- 28:17Speaker 5: or like it started being a thing properly last season
- 28:20Speaker 5: when we got the second set of chips coming in,
- 28:21Speaker 5: because obviously in the first half of the season, you
- 28:23Speaker 5: don't get the doubles necessarily, so people are looking for
- 28:25Speaker 5: an opportunity to look where they play it. The bench
- 28:29Speaker 5: boost always feels, in my mind anyway, is the weaker
- 28:32Speaker 5: of the chips in terms of the possibilities of extra
- 28:35Speaker 5: points that it could bring, Like when you're talking about
- 28:37Speaker 5: three hits and triple captains and obviously the wild card,
- 28:40Speaker 5: there's so much potential upside that those can bring. For me,
- 28:45Speaker 5: an early bench boost this year feels really risky for
- 28:49Speaker 5: a number of reasons. One, you have the World Cup players.
- 28:52Speaker 5: So if you're gonna invest in a player that's been
- 28:54Speaker 5: away at the World Cup and played, you know, for
- 28:56Speaker 5: a long time, Morgan Rogers is a prime example. We're
- 28:59Speaker 5: not exactly sure Morgan Rodgers's minutes might look like in
- 29:01Speaker 5: the early parts of the season, so if you want
- 29:04Speaker 5: to go into the season with him, it makes that
- 29:06Speaker 5: a risky bench boost early on. I think there's other
- 29:08Speaker 5: factors that play as well with that. That is, we've
- 29:10Speaker 5: got multiple and actually even since we potted more new
- 29:14Speaker 5: managers in the Premier League, so again you have a
- 29:17Speaker 5: little bit of uncertainty around what those actual starting elevens
- 29:20Speaker 5: might look like across those new teams and how they
- 29:22Speaker 5: might set up in the formations they might play in.
- 29:25Speaker 5: So for me, that's another factor, and the bigger factor
- 29:28Speaker 5: for me right now is that if you bench boost
- 29:30Speaker 5: in game week one or two, one of the key
- 29:32Speaker 5: reasons for doing it, Cals like you say, is because
- 29:34Speaker 5: you can then strip money out of your bench. So
- 29:36Speaker 5: you this year, we don't have the de Bravka four
- 29:38Speaker 5: point zero starting goalkeeper. We don't think anyway that we
- 29:41Speaker 5: did last year, so to go down to a four
- 29:44Speaker 5: point zero, you're having to go back in with Debravka,
- 29:46Speaker 5: but he's not going to be first choice at Spurs.
- 29:48Speaker 5: He'll be the backup. So if you do that and
- 29:51Speaker 5: you strip the money out of your defense, that probably
- 29:53Speaker 5: means that you are going for a very early wild card. Now,
- 29:57Speaker 5: last season, when we had our double chips for the
- 29:59Speaker 5: first time, we also got five free transfers at Christmas
- 30:01Speaker 5: because we had Afcon, so we could build almost a
- 30:05Speaker 5: third wildcard, like a mini wild card, to help us
- 30:08Speaker 5: get through that period. If you wildcard in three or
- 30:12Speaker 5: four and you hold your second World card till closer
- 30:15Speaker 5: to doubles in the blank game weeks like we normally
- 30:18Speaker 5: like to do, you could feasibly have twenty weeks where
- 30:22Speaker 5: you've just got to manage with transfers. And I don't
- 30:24Speaker 5: like the idea of that. I like to give myself
- 30:26Speaker 5: a little bit more flexibility in terms of how I
- 30:28Speaker 5: change out my team. So for me, I'd rather wait
- 30:33Speaker 5: play through the early part of the season, learn a
- 30:35Speaker 5: lot about the new managers, learn a lot about the
- 30:37Speaker 5: World Cup returners and how they're going to start, learn
- 30:40Speaker 5: about the new signings. Wild card. Maybe for the international break,
- 30:45Speaker 5: possibly even push it back a little bit later. Right now,
- 30:47Speaker 5: I'm looking at a wild card six BENCHBU seven strategy,
- 30:52Speaker 5: but that's kind of where I am, and I'll push
- 30:53Speaker 5: the free hit in the triple captain right back. Triple
- 30:55Speaker 5: captain probably Man City in sixteen. But we'll see where
- 30:59Speaker 5: they are when we get that.
- 31:00Speaker 2: She was thinking of the answer this, you've got any
- 31:02Speaker 2: chip plans yet?
- 31:04Speaker 4: Absolutely not? The only chips that is the one I
- 31:07Speaker 4: eat at the beach.
- 31:09Speaker 3: No, but I find this this bench books really interesting
- 31:13Speaker 3: because I understand if you build the squad and you've
- 31:17Speaker 3: got really good players, and often that's what we do,
- 31:19Speaker 3: then why not playing them if you if you show
- 31:21Speaker 3: that we'll all play and start game with one again
- 31:24Speaker 3: with two for example, and the fixtures are decent. I
- 31:27Speaker 3: don't really like the idea of it, but I can
- 31:29Speaker 3: understand what people are tempted.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Sure, no problem.
- 31:32Speaker 3: I think some early triple captains shouts Okay City home
- 31:36Speaker 3: to ipswitch game with three for Earling Harland for example,
- 31:39Speaker 3: because there won't be a double in the first half
- 31:41Speaker 3: of the season, so you will play your triple captain
- 31:44Speaker 3: on a single on one game and very likely we
- 31:48Speaker 3: target Harland and easy fixtures at home are deity hard
- 31:51Speaker 3: for cities, So there's that one to keep in mind.
- 31:53Speaker 3: If you want Bruno Fernandez United at home to against
- 31:56Speaker 3: Ipswich again in game with two, for example, there's a
- 31:59Speaker 3: bit of check to see against her City at home
- 32:01Speaker 3: in game week four. So there's a few games where
- 32:03Speaker 3: if you want a really good early styff. Let's say
- 32:06Speaker 3: you started game with one and two really well then,
- 32:09Speaker 3: and you're ahead in all your mini leagues, and you're
- 32:11Speaker 3: doing really well in the big rankings and things like that,
- 32:15Speaker 3: and Hallan is on form and Mariskaan and City are
- 32:18Speaker 3: on good form, then why not playing your triple captain
- 32:20Speaker 3: as early as then to just get ahead of everybody
- 32:23Speaker 3: as even before the international break, even before you wild
- 32:26Speaker 3: card or everything like that.
- 32:27Speaker 4: That could be a smart idea certainly, you know in
- 32:29Speaker 4: my planning.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it does just feel like a triple captain is
- 32:33Speaker 2: perfect for a whrleand home to a newly promoted team,
- 32:35Speaker 2: doesn't it.
- 32:36Speaker 1: That's what I always think.
- 32:37Speaker 2: But yeah, I haven't got a major tip strategy in
- 32:40Speaker 2: terms of I just know that I don't want to
- 32:42Speaker 2: play the bench boost early on for all the reasons
- 32:44Speaker 2: you said pretty much, Sam. I just I like to
- 32:46Speaker 2: feel things that I'm not confident enough in my starting eleven,
- 32:48Speaker 2: let my whole squad to play a chip on it,
- 32:50Speaker 2: And I just think there's too much uncertainty as to
- 32:52Speaker 2: who's going to play in minutes and returning from a
- 32:54Speaker 2: World Cup personally for me. Although I do see the
- 32:57Speaker 2: merit in just getting rid of it so that you
- 32:59Speaker 2: don't have.
- 32:59Speaker 5: To much, I think the Coventry versus Whole game in
- 33:02Speaker 5: game week two is also playing into a lot of
- 33:04Speaker 5: people's minds as they think, well, there's an opportunity to
- 33:06Speaker 5: maybe go very heavy on Coventry and hope that they
- 33:09Speaker 5: win that game. But those two games in the Championship
- 33:11Speaker 5: last year both finished nil nil, and they will also
- 33:13Speaker 5: go into it both of those teams thinking well, we
- 33:16Speaker 5: have to beat the fellow news teams exactly. Yeah, yeah,
- 33:21Speaker 5: so we just we'll see. But again, that game feels
- 33:24Speaker 5: a bit uncertain in the same way that even like
- 33:26Speaker 5: last year when the newly promoters played each other, they
- 33:28Speaker 5: weren't that always that easy to call. So I'm with you, Kels.
- 33:31Speaker 5: I think I'm just going to hold fire and wait
- 33:33Speaker 5: a little bit.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Okay, just looking at our team structure. Then we've kind
- 33:37Speaker 2: of broadly all gone the same. I feel like we
- 33:39Speaker 2: were all quite different on the first pod and we've
- 33:41Speaker 2: kind of amalgamated into more similar teams. I mean, I'm
- 33:44Speaker 2: still obviously premium heavy. I've got Saker over at you two,
- 33:47Speaker 2: and I've discussed the compromises that I've had to make
- 33:50Speaker 2: with that, and whether I'm one hundred percent comfortable, I'm
- 33:52Speaker 2: not so sure. Although the likes of Asrie Coonzo is
- 33:54Speaker 2: on my bench at the moment at four point five million,
- 33:56Speaker 2: which actually doesn't feel that bad. At one point I
- 33:59Speaker 2: had a a bench Storrow that was just full of
- 34:02Speaker 2: newly promoted players and that felt really weird. I don't
- 34:07Speaker 2: hate my team, but it is compromises.
- 34:08Speaker 1: So how many.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Premiums do you think we should be aiming for? And
- 34:14Speaker 2: kind of it enables? It's important to get the balance,
- 34:16Speaker 2: isn't it.
- 34:17Speaker 5: It is two feels really comfy having Harlan and Bruno
- 34:21Speaker 5: is comfortable. You can have a really great squad around
- 34:23Speaker 5: those two. Three I think is okay. If it's not Bruno,
- 34:29Speaker 5: that's one of them. So if it's Harlan and then
- 34:32Speaker 5: a Palmer or a Sakka or a Gabrielle and then
- 34:35Speaker 5: you go for one of the cheaper Manchester United midfielders
- 34:38Speaker 5: instead the Ken years the Enbel.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Do you think that's a viable strategy, by the way,
- 34:41Speaker 2: because I've seen a lot of people and George mentioned
- 34:42Speaker 2: and Bemo playing in the nine role in the pre
- 34:44Speaker 2: season the other day.
- 34:45Speaker 1: That caught my eye.
- 34:46Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, and I'm i am. One of the
- 34:49Speaker 5: things I still haven't yet decided on is is whether
- 34:53Speaker 5: I'd like to double up on Manchester United's attack for
- 34:55Speaker 5: the first two weeks of the season. That feels really good,
- 34:58Speaker 5: it's just how I do that. If I could, if
- 35:00Speaker 5: we saw a little bit of Cessco, if we saw
- 35:02Speaker 5: him a peer and was starting in pre season, I
- 35:04Speaker 5: would be super tempted to go there for game weeks
- 35:07Speaker 5: one and two and then move on. But I do
- 35:09Speaker 5: think either a could you could instead of having Bruno
- 35:12Speaker 5: go for Mbambo and Kuna and double up and cover
- 35:16Speaker 5: it out that way, and I think that is a
- 35:17Speaker 5: viable strategy. I personally think that with the season Bruno
- 35:21Speaker 5: had last year, I'd like to have him and then
- 35:23Speaker 5: double up with somebody else, and I'd rather trade Gabrielle
- 35:26Speaker 5: for a different Arsenal defender and save the budget that
- 35:28Speaker 5: way than I would save it by not having Bruno,
- 35:31Speaker 5: because just think his roots and points are just too good,
- 35:32Speaker 5: and he has the penalties and everything else. So it's
- 35:35Speaker 5: a risk I think going without him. But I think
- 35:37Speaker 5: two is really nice. Three you can do it. It's
- 35:41Speaker 5: just you do have some compromises elsewhere.
- 35:43Speaker 2: It was why do you stand on the Bruno versus
- 35:45Speaker 2: another Man United attacker? Because being honest, actually, if I
- 35:49Speaker 2: don't start with soccer, it will probably be going from
- 35:51Speaker 2: soccer to and Bumo.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I think.
- 35:54Speaker 4: Very smart. Yeah, I agree.
- 35:55Speaker 3: And Cesco was in my first draft of our last
- 35:58Speaker 3: or two weeks ago, but he still carrying that small injury.
- 36:01Speaker 3: He hasn't played in that artlytical Madrid game, and I
- 36:04Speaker 3: think and Bomo was there maybe because Cisco was not
- 36:08Speaker 3: available there, you know, And and and Bomo can play
- 36:10Speaker 3: there and might not be there.
- 36:12Speaker 4: For the whole season in that position.
- 36:13Speaker 3: If Cesco is fit and doing well, and Bomo could
- 36:15Speaker 3: well go back onto the onto the wing and that
- 36:19Speaker 3: that would be I think he can be very good there.
- 36:22Speaker 3: But I think that's h and Bomo is a great
- 36:24Speaker 3: option too, And I agree with Sam in the sense
- 36:26Speaker 3: that Bruno's expensive. It's twelve million plus the fifteen point
- 36:29Speaker 3: five for Harlan already Between just the two, if you
- 36:32Speaker 3: have them, this is a third of your whole budget.
- 36:35Speaker 3: So it's it can it can be in a way
- 36:38Speaker 3: difficult to look at it and thinking that really all
- 36:40Speaker 3: that money on just two players, as good as they
- 36:42Speaker 3: might be this season. And again we we just don't know.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Bruno hasn't played yet with United. He's coming back this
- 36:48Speaker 3: week or so, yeah, this week, so we would have
- 36:52Speaker 3: to see. But if Bruno is playing, is fit, is
- 36:54Speaker 3: ready to go straight away? When you've got those two.
- 36:57Speaker 4: First games for United Hearth City and ipswich away.
- 37:00Speaker 3: And home, it's hard to not have him because I
- 37:03Speaker 3: think that could really really hurt you if you don't
- 37:06Speaker 3: want to go for Bruno that Like I said earlier,
- 37:08Speaker 3: I think there's such a strong team to have without
- 37:11Speaker 3: Bruno and having Soccer, Gabrielle and Helen for example, as
- 37:15Speaker 3: you have three premiums in the team, that's very very doable,
- 37:18Speaker 3: far more than having Halen Bruno and then trying to
- 37:20Speaker 3: find some money somewhere for Soccer or Gabrielle or Palmer
- 37:24Speaker 3: or somebody like that. Yeah.
- 37:27Speaker 2: I agree, it's interesting, isn't it. And I think the
- 37:31Speaker 2: pricing this season has made it even more interesting because
- 37:33Speaker 2: we're all going to have slightly different premiums. I'm seeing,
- 37:36Speaker 2: like you know, less and less people going with Gabrielle.
- 37:38Speaker 2: So all it all take is him to score two
- 37:40Speaker 2: on the opening weekend or something like that and we'll.
- 37:42Speaker 1: All go, oh my gosh.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Because Sam, you always raised the point that it's easier
- 37:46Speaker 2: to go and it's the same with Bruno, isn't it.
- 37:48Speaker 2: It's easier to start at that price point and go
- 37:49Speaker 2: down than it is to go up and find and
- 37:51Speaker 2: find all of the money. And what about differentials? Then
- 37:53Speaker 2: a quick word on those before we go, because it's
- 37:55Speaker 2: something that we go big on on this pod. We
- 37:57Speaker 2: do differential of the week. We're not going to start
- 37:59Speaker 2: that just yet, because of course the game hasn't actually
- 38:01Speaker 2: he started the Premier League match, heeven't started. But differentials
- 38:05Speaker 2: at this time of year, if you get the right one.
- 38:06Speaker 1: You're onto a winner, aren't you.
- 38:07Speaker 5: Some you are, but there's I would also offer a
- 38:10Speaker 5: little word of caution with them, because if you remember
- 38:13Speaker 5: last season, I decided that I was going to start
- 38:17Speaker 5: the season without Jial Pedro and instead go for a
- 38:19Speaker 5: slightly less less well owned forward, and it massively came
- 38:25Speaker 5: back to bite me, and I found it really difficult
- 38:27Speaker 5: to catch up after that because Joe Pedro went on
- 38:29Speaker 5: and did while he had a fantastic season, didn't he,
- 38:31Speaker 5: But particularly in those early weeks, he was really good.
- 38:33Speaker 5: So I think there is there's something to be said
- 38:36Speaker 5: for having differentials, and they are the thing that really
- 38:38Speaker 5: moves your season. They can be the game changes for
- 38:41Speaker 5: you in terms of climbing mini leagus, in terms of
- 38:43Speaker 5: improving overall rank, but I think you also have to
- 38:45Speaker 5: have the course by and Jael's mentioned it a couple
- 38:47Speaker 5: of times while we were talking about teams, like the
- 38:49Speaker 5: ownership of some players is really high, and so going
- 38:53Speaker 5: without them and picking a differential player like even the
- 38:56Speaker 5: Subosli vertzing at the minute, picking verts over Suboslai, you're
- 39:01Speaker 5: picking a differential over somebody that's that's very, very popular.
- 39:04Speaker 5: So there's a risk factor that comes with that, because
- 39:07Speaker 5: if goes off, you're winning and you go flying up
- 39:09Speaker 5: the mini leagues in your opal rank, but if it's
- 39:11Speaker 5: a Boslai, you fall behind quite quickly. So I think
- 39:15Speaker 5: you have to look at the heavily owned players. You
- 39:17Speaker 5: have to think about owning at least a good chunk
- 39:20Speaker 5: of them, and then use the kind of peripheral players
- 39:23Speaker 5: of your team to have your differentials in there. So
- 39:27Speaker 5: have the core, have the Harlan's, the brunos, the job
- 39:31Speaker 5: pedro is the ones that are going to be super popular,
- 39:33Speaker 5: and then around that pick players that can do can
- 39:38Speaker 5: make the difference in terms of moving you up your
- 39:40Speaker 5: leagues by picking people that are different from everyone else.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a good point. You love a differentials.
- 39:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm so good at picking them as well. But no,
- 39:48Speaker 4: it's good. Like Sam mentioned Phil Foden, who's.
- 39:51Speaker 3: You know in her team that Mariska has talked about
- 39:54Speaker 3: and played in the teen In that game against inter Milan,
- 39:57Speaker 3: he's won by seven percent of the managers. If he
- 39:59Speaker 3: does well at the start of this season and you
- 40:00Speaker 3: have him, and obviously many more many other managers don't
- 40:04Speaker 3: have him, obviously, then that's that's great for you.
- 40:06Speaker 4: If you look at Doku or Pascal Gross, it's the same.
- 40:09Speaker 3: If you like a Kai haverd you got Jesus that
- 40:11Speaker 3: you two mentioned earlier, they lowly owned right now, So
- 40:16Speaker 3: whatever points.
- 40:17Speaker 4: Those can get you get ahead of everybody else that
- 40:20Speaker 4: don't have them.
- 40:21Speaker 2: M Okay, then that's where we're going to leave it today.
- 40:24Speaker 2: But I just wondered if I'm going to leave on
- 40:26Speaker 2: this question, which player sound do you have that you
- 40:28Speaker 2: don't currently have? Sorry, scares you the most? I'm leaving
- 40:32Speaker 2: on a nice upbeat note here.
- 40:34Speaker 5: I am sure I don't have any Arsenal players outside
- 40:39Speaker 5: of Moscara, So to be honest, Gabrielle and all the
- 40:42Speaker 5: Arsenal attackers scare me because not having an Arsenal attacker
- 40:45Speaker 5: just feels all kinds of wrong, particularly when they start
- 40:47Speaker 5: the season at home to Coventry. So I probably need
- 40:50Speaker 5: to find a way to actify that.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Yeah, do you know that's every time I get rid
- 40:54Speaker 2: of Saka from my draft, I bring him back because
- 40:55Speaker 2: it scares me. But it scares me having him as
- 40:58Speaker 2: well because of his injury. Is he going to be
- 41:00Speaker 2: eased back into the season because he was obviously carrying
- 41:02Speaker 2: that injury a bit last season he played so much.
- 41:05Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Yeah, Joeys, what about you?
- 41:08Speaker 3: I think Gabrielle is one for sure, and then for
- 41:12Speaker 3: the rest I put sole this in for the same
- 41:15Speaker 3: fear that you know, you two discussed about Arsenal and
- 41:18Speaker 3: not having an Arsenal attacker. And I'm not really sure
- 41:20Speaker 3: how much Solace is going to play and if he's
- 41:23Speaker 3: going to be very good or not very good or
- 41:25Speaker 3: things like that, but I think he's got great potential
- 41:28Speaker 3: if Kopama probably a risk not having him because he
- 41:31Speaker 3: had a summer off, and I think there's there's a
- 41:33Speaker 3: massive you could see it coming that Copama is going
- 41:35Speaker 3: to have a great season and the Chabi Alonzo or
- 41:37Speaker 3: Chelsea so his players like that. But again, they are
- 41:40Speaker 3: so expensive, Sakka and Palmer and Gabrielle, that it's not
- 41:45Speaker 3: just having them or owning them, it's finding a way
- 41:48Speaker 3: to get them, and then that could also make your
- 41:50Speaker 3: team a bit weaker. As good as they can be individually,
- 41:53Speaker 3: the whole collective of your squad is very important to.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I will leave you on a positive note and
- 41:58Speaker 2: give you the FPL Pard Mini League because it has
- 42:01Speaker 2: been relaunched and normally by the end of the season,
- 42:03Speaker 2: I know it off by heart. But this is a
- 42:04Speaker 2: new one Q zero HIV one queue, so do make
- 42:08Speaker 2: sure you join. I should have said earlier in the
- 42:10Speaker 2: pod in case people have switched off from our waft
- 42:11Speaker 2: wall by now, so I'll say earlier in the pod
- 42:13Speaker 2: next week, but that is the lead code Q zero
- 42:16Speaker 2: HV one queue. Please do join and play against fellow listeners.
- 42:20Speaker 2: We'll be back next week to look at each of
- 42:23Speaker 2: the positions in more detail. We'll also run through the
- 42:25Speaker 2: fixtures as well, because I know we touched upon it
- 42:27Speaker 2: during our discussions that certain teams have good fixtures to
- 42:29Speaker 2: start with. We'll go through those in more detail, so
- 42:32Speaker 2: you're up to speed with that. And of course I'm
- 42:34Speaker 2: sure there's gonna be plenty of drafts that have changed jewels.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Will you still be on holiday?
- 42:38Speaker 4: Yeah? Of course now, of course, of course, all right
- 42:41Speaker 4: for some some.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Of us have got about four or five days working
- 42:43Speaker 2: between them, myself and Sam. I think I know this
- 42:45Speaker 2: is a busy time of the year for Sam. Yeah,
- 42:47Speaker 2: So we'll be back next Thursday. The Fantasy TV show
- 42:49Speaker 2: is also going to return next Thursday as well, so
- 42:51Speaker 2: that will be on the Premier League website and app
- 42:53Speaker 2: and on your TV screens too. It's all getting very serious.
- 42:56Speaker 5: Two weeks two weeks ago. It's two weeks to go,
