- 0:00Right sizing your life so that yourself can have the space that you need
- 0:05to flourish.
- 0:06Even though this is something a lot of people crave and want is not something I
- 0:10want. It's not something I need anymore and I truly think I'd be happier with
- 0:15something different.
- 0:26Hello and welcome back to Remember Why You're Here,
- 0:29a podcast for seekers and sensitives where you can relax, receive,
- 0:34reconnect to yourself and remember that most important thing of all why you're
- 0:39here. I'm Asia Souler, author, earth intuitive, teacher.
- 0:44And in this episode today,
- 0:45we're going to be talking about something that I've been very passionate about
- 0:48in my life of late.
- 0:49And this is this concept of right sizing your life,
- 0:54finding in your life the right container,
- 0:58the right size, the right method of being,
- 1:02finding in your life the right container so that you can be in
- 1:07your fullness. I'm so excited about this episode.
- 1:10I think it's perfect timing and I think really embracing right
- 1:15sizing your life can change your life. So before we get into it,
- 1:20I want to remind you that if you want to go deeper into remembering why you are
- 1:25here,
- 1:25I would love to see you over on my new Substack space called Remember
- 1:30Why You Are Here.
- 1:32This Subsect Space is taking the podcast even deeper.
- 1:36It includes essays around these video podcasts that includes
- 1:41expanded writings, expanded episodes, end of the month,
- 1:45monthly recaps on the intuitive reading from that month as well as personal
- 1:50shares from me, journal entries, poetry,
- 1:53deeper levels of my own self-expression and self and teaching in the world.
- 1:57And so if you are interested in going deeper into
- 2:02remembering why you are here, I'd love to see you over on the Substack.
- 2:05It's been incredible so far. It's really exceeded my
- 2:10expectations for being a space in which people can really connect for being
- 2:15more relational, more humane, slower,
- 2:19deeper than I've really been able to access on social media for quite a long
- 2:23time, if I'll be honest.
- 2:24And this space has just really turned into something very special.
- 2:28And most of the things that are in that space are entirely free.
- 2:32So it's entirely free to join that space and I would just absolutely love to
- 2:36connect deeper with you there. So again, that's remember why you're here,
- 2:39the Substack or aceular.substack.com.
- 2:43And I'd love to connect with you inside of that space as we all continue to
- 2:47remember why we are here. Okay.
- 2:51So let's talk about right sizing your life because I promise you this will
- 2:56change your life. So when I say right sizing,
- 2:59this is not about necessarily making things smaller. It's not even about making
- 3:03things bigger. It's not about less. It's not about more.
- 3:06It's about finding what's right for you.
- 3:09So it's about finding what's right for your soul, for your creative spirit,
- 3:13for your nervous system.
- 3:14What is that just right size for the container of your life?
- 3:19And why I love this term right sizing your life,
- 3:23I love it because there's no judgment.
- 3:25There's no judgment about whether right sizing something your life means making
- 3:28it bigger, whether it means making it smaller, it's about what's right for you.
- 3:33It's about what simply feels better for you in your life.
- 3:37And this phrase came through for me and I'll try to repeat it several times in
- 3:41this episode because I think it's important to remember that finding the right
- 3:45container means that you can be in your fullness.
- 3:49I think this is especially true for sensitive people. Finding the right
- 3:52container means that you can be in your fullness.
- 3:57So for example, if the container of something in our life is too big,
- 4:00we're going to be sort of overstretching ourselves,
- 4:04overstretching our capacity to try to fill it.
- 4:06We're not going to be able to feel the fullness of ourselves. If it's too small,
- 4:09we're going to spill right out of that, feel constricted.
- 4:12Finding the right container in your life is about you being in your
- 4:16fullness. I say this because this concept of right sizing your life,
- 4:21it's really about right sizing your life in order to expand.
- 4:26So we live in a culture where we often see bigger as better
- 4:32and we want more, more money, a bigger house, more followers,
- 4:36a nicer car, whatever the things are.
- 4:39And we are very heavily projected upon that this is
- 4:43where satisfaction lies, that this is where achievement lies,
- 4:47that this is where happiness lies. But right size is about recognizing that when
- 4:52we find the right container for us,
- 4:54the right size for us for whatever it is, the money we're making,
- 4:58the house we're living in, the amount of stuff we have,
- 5:01the amount of energy and time we devote to certain relationships,
- 5:04that when we find the right container for us,
- 5:07we can then expand.
- 5:10We have then this capacity to expand in a way we didn't before.
- 5:14And so I just want to say that expansion in this way,
- 5:18it's not about more reach, more space or even more opportunities.
- 5:23It's about feeling held in our life,
- 5:26about feeling met in the size of our life because when we are
- 5:30maintaining oversized containers, a lot of the time when we right size things,
- 5:35we might actually be making them a little smaller because when we maintain
- 5:38oversized containers instead of helping us to expand,
- 5:41they flatten us and you might have noticed this in your life. So
- 5:46sometimes we can't expand because the container's too small or sometimes that
- 5:50container is too large and it disperses us. So here's some example.
- 5:54Some examples we may not hear all that often, but you have too many followers,
- 5:58you might lose a sense of intimate connection. Too big of a house,
- 6:03that's too much to maintain.
- 6:04You don't have time for your creative practice anymore.
- 6:07You have too many obligations.
- 6:08Even when there were things that you were excited about at some point,
- 6:10you stop feeling creative again. You stop having creative space.
- 6:15If you have too much emotional availability for others,
- 6:18you don't have enough emotional availability for your own self,
- 6:21your own experience, your own feelings. Too many options,
- 6:25projects, and choices end up draining us.
- 6:29So bigger is not always better for our own expansion.
- 6:32Sometimes we need to right size.
- 6:35Often our intellect comes in with this concept of right sizing to say,
- 6:39"But this is successful," or, "But I should be grateful," or,
- 6:44"This is what I wanted,
- 6:46so why aren't I enjoying it now?" But often with this process of right sizing,
- 6:51which I'm going to walk you through in this podcast episode,
- 6:54this process of right sizing the body is saying,
- 6:58"I can't fully inhabit this. " The body is saying,
- 7:01"This requires too much maintenance or there's no room left for me.
- 7:05" So if you feel like you're disappearing inside of what you built,
- 7:09it's time to right size your life. And we see this, right?
- 7:14When we don't have enough containment,
- 7:17often expansion starts to become destabilizing.
- 7:20It's like that expansion doesn't feel like expansion anymore.
- 7:23It feels like I'm trying to manage things that are outside of my control.
- 7:27And this is why our creativity will often come back online after we commit
- 7:32ourselves to right sizing our life because the energy that was previously spent
- 7:36on maintaining and oversized or ill-fitting structure becomes available
- 7:41again. I'm going to repeat that because I think we need to hear it.
- 7:44The energy that was previously spent maintaining oversized or ill-fitting
- 7:49structures becomes available again.
- 7:51And this creates a kind of coherency for us in our nervous system. This is when
- 7:56it's like our values and our energy and our nervous system are all coming into
- 8:01coherence with one another so that way it feels like all of us is moving in the
- 8:05same direction That energy can all move in the same direction and that life
- 8:09stops feeling like something you have to constantly override yourself in order
- 8:13to sustain. So if that feels like you at all,
- 8:15like there's aspects of your life that you're having to give too much or
- 8:19sustaining it feels too exhausting,
- 8:21then you're in the right place because you're going to learn about how to right
- 8:23size your life.
- 8:25So I want to give a little example here about right sizing your life.
- 8:30It's a little bit of a silly example, but actually it's perfect.
- 8:33So I've been in this process and so many ways of right
- 8:38sizing my life this year. I think that there's a clarion call in general this
- 8:41year to be doing this for ourselves.
- 8:43A lot of us are being forced to this precipice, but for me,
- 8:47how this all began was deciding to get rid of my king size bed and
- 8:52get a queen instead. Okay, stay with me.
- 8:54So anytime I told people I was thinking about getting rid of my king size bed,
- 8:59they'd be like, "Are you crazy?
- 9:00Why would you get rid of a king size bed?" And I will say it was a very nice
- 9:03bed. It was not an inexpensive bed. It was a really nice organic bed.
- 9:08I had a really beautiful wooden frame for it.
- 9:11I had invested on all the nice sheets for myself after I was postpartum so
- 9:16I could really be in that experience and feel held.
- 9:19So not only would I be getting rid of the bed,
- 9:21I'd be getting rid of the bed frame,
- 9:23I'd be getting rid of these beautiful sheets that would no longer fit my bed,
- 9:28but I kept getting this feeling like I just had to let it go and then
- 9:33something else would come into my life. I had to downgrade quote unquote to
- 9:38this queen size bed. And I kept explaining to people, "I'm not downgrading,
- 9:41I'm just right sizing." And there were deeper emotional currents here up for me
- 9:46with this shift.
- 9:47I had gotten that bed before my daughter was born and the idea that we might
- 9:52sleep in that bed as a family. About a year after my daughter was born,
- 9:57her dad and I decided to transition to co-parenting we uncoupled and so
- 10:02that bed represented a lot to me. It held this energy in my life,
- 10:07an energy that wasn't a reality and also that I didn't want to tend anymore.
- 10:11I was like, "I'm ready for a new era.
- 10:13I know this is a really nice bed." Intellectually I can see that,
- 10:17but emotionally it was weighing me down. So I got rid of it.
- 10:22I got rid of that bed. I mean, also I'll be real,
- 10:26I haven't been sleeping in that bed in years.
- 10:28My daughter and I co-sleep now in her room.
- 10:31So it's just mostly a thing where I wasn't even in that bed.
- 10:34It was just this giant heavy reminder of what no longer
- 10:39was available in my life, what I wasn't pouring energy into anymore,
- 10:44just basically something that didn't work.
- 10:46It also frankly didn't work in the space. It was always too big for the space.
- 10:50I have a small little bedroom and I just kind of decided to do
- 10:55it anyways because of the visions that I had of what it would look like to be a
- 10:59family, what it would look like to co-sleep, et cetera, et cetera,
- 11:02best laid plans, right? But I decided I'm getting rid of it.
- 11:06So I got rid of it and I slept on our little fold out queen guest
- 11:11bed on the floor of my room and I was just happy as a
- 11:16duck in a duck pond. I cannot tell you how much joy it brought me to get rid of
- 11:21that beautiful bed,
- 11:22that beautiful bed that went to a beautiful couple who are very much enjoying it
- 11:26now and just sleep on my little queen size mattress in my bedroom.
- 11:30I was able to rearrange my whole room in a way where I now feel
- 11:35cozier and more inspired in that room than I
- 11:40ever have because now I have more space.
- 11:42I could rearrange things the way I wanted it.
- 11:44I really could start to see the way in which I wanted the energy to move through
- 11:48the space instead of thinking, "Oh, it should be like this.
- 11:51" I gave myself permission to be like, "How do I need it to be?
- 11:54How do I want it to be? What feels inspiring for me?
- 11:57" And so it's a funny story in some ways,
- 12:00but it's also poignant and it just shows you that something even as simple as
- 12:05I'm really getting this feeling like this,
- 12:07even though this is something a lot of people crave and want,
- 12:10is not something I want. It's not something I need anymore and I truly think I'd
- 12:15be happier with something different. So it's about right sizing your life.
- 12:18And this one move kicked off what has been a whole season for me of asking
- 12:23myself this question, what needs to be right sized in my life?
- 12:27What needs to be reviewed to be shifted?
- 12:32Where do I want to put my energy?
- 12:34Where am I using my energy to maintain something that isn't actually bringing me
- 12:37joy?
- 12:39A right sized life is not the life that looks biggest from the outside.
- 12:43It's the life your nervous system can fully inhabit.
- 12:46It's the life your soul feels at home within and this is what we're doing when
- 12:51we are right sizing our life. Sensitives in particular,
- 12:54I find that we often need to let go of things in order to feel spacious again.
- 12:59Now, as I said, this is going to go against a lot of cultural norms,
- 13:03norms where we think bigger is better, bigger house, more money,
- 13:06more productivity, bigger audience, all the things,
- 13:09but we can feel inside of our body when it's actually too much. When it's too
- 13:14big of a container,
- 13:14it's too much to manage where our energy is getting dispersed.
- 13:19So what I often find for sensitive people is that right sizing can often mean
- 13:25going for something that feels cozy or going for something that feels more like
- 13:29you,
- 13:30making the choice to change the container so that you can
- 13:35expand.
- 13:35And this is what ends up happening is that we right size our life and only you
- 13:40will know what right sizing means for you and what that's asking of you,
- 13:43but you right size your life and then your energy can expand again.
- 13:48Sensitive people, we tend to come into this world with a lot of energy.
- 13:52We have big energy, we have big emotions,
- 13:54we have big sensitive nervous systems and we need space.
- 13:59We need to feel like we are held by the spaces that we are in and right sizing
- 14:04your life will help you to do that. So how do you go about right sizing your
- 14:08life? Because I promise you when you do this, so much magic will happen.
- 14:12I cannot even believe this one move of being like,
- 14:15"I'm going to get rid of this bed." How much that has opened up for me in my
- 14:20life,
- 14:21I've started right sizing absolutely everything and it's changing absolutely
- 14:25everything about my life and the energy I have access to. Well,
- 14:28the first thing is to take inventory in a given day and just notice when
- 14:33and where your energy drops. Think about at the end of your day,
- 14:37go through your whole day and just see where did my energy drop throughout the
- 14:42day Because that dropping energy is a sign that the container is not the right
- 14:46size for you. So I used to notice, for example,
- 14:48after I put my daughter to bed in her room,
- 14:51I didn't want to go in my room. My energy would drop as soon as I walked in that
- 14:55door.
- 14:56Some of that was the feng shui of how the room was set up because it had to be
- 15:00set up because of that darn large ping siz bed,
- 15:04but there was other elements to it too, right?
- 15:06But I noticed that I would feel this sort of despondency and anxiety every
- 15:11time I walked into my room. Now I walk into my room. Oh man, I melt.
- 15:15My body's just like this, this is exactly what I've wanted this whole time.
- 15:20So notice when your energy drops throughout the day,
- 15:23that's often an indicator that the container there is not quite the right size.
- 15:27I want to just say here that not all exhaustion means resistance,
- 15:31like you're just resisting something.
- 15:33Sometimes it's information telling you that this container is not the right
- 15:36size. So where do you feel exhausted? Where do you feel drained?
- 15:39Where do you feel overgiving?
- 15:41And to really ask yourself in whatever the container the situation is,
- 15:46can I be myself inside this?
- 15:48Can I be myself inside this and still maintain this size,
- 15:53whatever this size is, whether it's too small or too large, whatever it is,
- 15:57can I still be myself inside of this?
- 16:00So here are some areas to look at in your life and to ask yourself this
- 16:04question, can I be myself inside this?
- 16:06So first area is the stuff in your house and the space in your house.
- 16:10This is like your home and the possessions inside of your home.
- 16:13And so some things here to look at,
- 16:17often when we make changes in our physical environment,
- 16:19it is a catalyst for these spiritual emotional changes inside of us.
- 16:24So this is not just like spring cleaning,
- 16:26this is you literally making space in your life for more of yourself. So here
- 16:31are some questions as you look around your home, at your stuff, at your space,
- 16:35if you move tomorrow, what would you not bother taking?
- 16:38Or do you know what's in every closet and every drawer?
- 16:42If you don't know what's in there,
- 16:44there's probably stuff in there that you could let go. And this is a funny one.
- 16:48So this is one that a couple of my friends who are mothers have told me this is
- 16:52their test. So if it's a mom,
- 16:54it might resonate with you a little more than if you're not.
- 16:57But I think either way it works good. The test is if this got poop on it,
- 17:02would you keep it? This is a very real reality for motherhood.
- 17:06If this got poop on it, would you keep it or would you throw it out?
- 17:09That's a test of whether or not this should still stay in your life. So we know
- 17:14through all the different home and lifestyle influences
- 17:19out there, all the Marie condoing,
- 17:22the awareness that when we change our physical surroundings,
- 17:25when we right size our physical existence,
- 17:27it really does open up so much space and side of ourselves.
- 17:31So this is a big place to start. Another place to look at is money.
- 17:35So this is your income, your spending,
- 17:39what it is that you have to deal with in terms of resources.
- 17:43And so this will also help you understand where do you need to right
- 17:47size your spending, your expenses,
- 17:50what you're investing in order to maintain that resource.
- 17:54So here's some questions here. If your income dropped 20%,
- 17:58what would you cut first? What would be the first thing to go?
- 18:01That's really important information.
- 18:02Are your biggest expenses in life buying you joy?
- 18:07This is important to think about.
- 18:08And sometimes we have big expenses that don't feel very joyful. Maybe we have
- 18:13health expenses that are really immense for us,
- 18:15but we absolutely need to do that. But to ask yourself,
- 18:17outside of those essential things, the big expenses you're making in your life,
- 18:21are they bringing you joy or is it an obligation?
- 18:23And then what do you actually need to have in your life to be sustainable?
- 18:27And I think that this question's really important right now.
- 18:31I think a lot of us are asking this question as at least here in the States we
- 18:35are in a recession.
- 18:37I know a lot of my friends are really reckoning with finances with money and
- 18:41being like, "Okay, I have less." And what does that mean to have less?
- 18:46And there's actually this space in which sometimes going into the place where
- 18:50you have to review, you have to go over things with a fine tooth comb,
- 18:54you have to be conservative,
- 18:56you have to really do that work of asking yourself like,
- 18:59"What do I actually need? What is actually fulfilling for me?
- 19:02" can really help liberate some of our creativity and help us see what
- 19:07is really most essential for us in our life.
- 19:09And what is it that you're having to do to maintain what you see as a certain
- 19:15income level that is really draining you,
- 19:17that is actually taking more away from you than you would have if
- 19:22you were able to sustain yourself and see that there's sustainability at
- 19:27other levels of being. Okay.
- 19:29The next category here is time.
- 19:33So I'm kind of moving in what I see as levels of importance specifically for
- 19:37sensitive people. So now we're going into an even deeper level of importance,
- 19:41which is time. So this is scheduling commitments, your career and this is like,
- 19:45what are you doing with your time?
- 19:47What are you committing yourself to with your time?
- 19:50And so some questions to ask yourself here are,
- 19:52what would you do if you had five more free hours this week? What would you do?
- 19:57If you just were magically given five free hours this week,
- 20:00what would you do with that time?
- 20:02Or if you look at your calendar from last week,
- 20:06look at what you did last week and how many of those things would you do again?
- 20:10If you had the choice,
- 20:10how many of those things would you actively choose to do again?
- 20:14And to ask yourself too, what do you look forward to in life?
- 20:17What are the things that you're looking forward to that you're committed to
- 20:19time-wise versus what are the things that you quietly dread?
- 20:24And that term quietly dread was one I wanted to underline in here because I
- 20:28think so many of us sensitives, we make commitments with our time,
- 20:33with our energy that we're quietly dreading.
- 20:36And I have to say that we don't need to be doing that,
- 20:39that actually there's another way to live where we are really only saying yes to
- 20:44outside of the necessary obligations of our life,
- 20:47saying yes to what really feels good to us,
- 20:51what we really want to do with our time. Your time is precious.
- 20:55It's not infinite when you're in this body and on this planet, it's finite.
- 20:58And so part of right sizing your life is recognizing what do you want to give
- 21:02your time to? What do you want to give your energy to?
- 21:05What is it that's actually important for your own soul's fulfillment and growth
- 21:10and making the space for that by right sizing other things.
- 21:14When we say no to other things,
- 21:15we end up opening up pockets of space and time that we need in our life,
- 21:20especially important this month as I shared in the intuitive reading for this
- 21:24month that there's a big creative energy on offer for us this month.
- 21:28The opportunity to really follow our creative impulse to step into new and
- 21:32deeper layers of authentic self-expression and asking yourself like,
- 21:36"What do I need to right size in my life so that I can have energy,
- 21:39time and space for that? " And often part of our brain will come in and be like,
- 21:44"Well, I can't do that because of this or because of that.
- 21:47" And I like to kind of like follow those lines of thoughts until they dead
- 21:51end. "You can't do that. Why? "And then what? And then what will happen?
- 21:56And then what? And then what?
- 21:57And I keep asking myself that question until often I get to the point of like,
- 22:01and then I'd still be me and then I'd still have this impulse and then I'd still
- 22:05want to do this thing in life and I still would feel unfulfilled if I didn't do
- 22:09it. So why don't I just do it? Why don't I just do it?
- 22:13And so ask yourself that question. And then what?
- 22:15If part of your brain is saying," I can't do this because I can't set that time
- 22:18boundary. I can't take my energy or my attention away for that. "And then what?
- 22:23Because what you're doing is you are right sizing your life to fit the shape of
- 22:27your own soul.
- 22:27You are making the container of your life right size so that you can
- 22:32fully expand so that you can reach the kind of fulfillment that you are here to
- 22:37experience. So the deepest layer in here,
- 22:40I'm going to go I think for sensitives,
- 22:43this is the deepest layer is often relationships.
- 22:47So this goes hand in hand with time, but relationships,
- 22:51social obligations, community, those kinds of commitments,
- 22:56oftentimes these are spaces where we don't even realize that this is not the
- 23:00right shape or form or size for our lives.
- 23:04So to really ask yourself this question,
- 23:06especially as a sensitive and an empath,
- 23:09which relationships leave me feeling energized versus subtly drained?
- 23:13And that subtly part's important. Sometimes it might feel overwhelmingly
- 23:17drained, but subtly drained. Pay attention to that.
- 23:20That's your body communicating to you.
- 23:22Are there any friendships or other relationships that you're maintaining that
- 23:25are out of obligation or history?
- 23:28Do you have an active connection with this person? Does it feel emergent?
- 23:32Is this adding containers to your life where you can expand,
- 23:36where you can be your authentic self,
- 23:37or is this more a sense of obligation or shared a history that you're showing up
- 23:42for this and there's no judgment here. And when you right size your life,
- 23:46you are also right sizing the energy that you're putting into your
- 23:49relationships. And when you get that size right, that container right,
- 23:54it's like not only can you expand the relationships that are really meant to
- 23:57flourish in your life, they will expand as well,
- 24:00including calling in new relationships, people who can really meet you,
- 24:04can really see you and will really get a kick out of your authentic self. So
- 24:10on that note,
- 24:11is there someone that you have been wanting to spend more time with?
- 24:14Maybe that someone is you. Have you been needing more time for yourself,
- 24:17for your creativity? Just for quiet listening.
- 24:21Right sizing our life is about finding the right container for our soul in this
- 24:25life,
- 24:26for giving ourselves a container in this lifetime where we can fully
- 24:31expand.
- 24:32And so I really think energy and time are important,
- 24:36all those things I named are important,
- 24:37but relationships are often a key for us sensitives because
- 24:42behind a lot of the ways in which we are a lot of the other categories,
- 24:47so behind for example,
- 24:49money and behind time and behind stuff in our home are
- 24:53relationships. It's like,
- 24:55what is it that's the unsaid obligation I feel inside of my relationship to
- 25:00my partner or my children or my perceived audience or
- 25:06this old childhood friend or the church community that I'm a part of. It's like
- 25:11all of these containers behind them is really a relationship or a series of
- 25:16relationships and relationships as sensitives.
- 25:19It's both an area where we really profoundly are skilled
- 25:24and it's also our greatest challenge. It's both.
- 25:27And so right sizing the relationships that you have in your life
- 25:32will open up huge potential for you in your existence.
- 25:36So I'm going to give you a very personal recent example of this,
- 25:40that there is someone that I was spending a lot of time with and I really adore
- 25:45this person. I really enjoy being with them,
- 25:47but something inside of me just kept saying like, "Asia, you need more time.
- 25:51You need more time for yourself.
- 25:53You just need to express that you need more time for yourself." And it was so
- 25:57hard for me. It rubs up against all my conditioning to just be like, "Ah,
- 26:02I know you're really going to feel super disappointed and upset by this,
- 26:04but I just simply cannot spend as much time with you. " And what has been so
- 26:08cool about this experience, because here's the things for sensitive people,
- 26:12it's going to be a lot easier for us to get rid of stuff,
- 26:15to downgrade our house or to upgrade whatever it is you need to do to right size
- 26:19your life. It's going to be a lot easier for us to do that.
- 26:21Relationships are often the hardest space for us to right size.
- 26:25So because it's so hard and there's so much energy that's often involved in
- 26:29setting that boundary,
- 26:31what happens on the other side will be an even bigger energy of being met by
- 26:35change expansion and possibility in your life. So here's what happened for me.
- 26:40This still blows my mind. So I set this boundary of time like,
- 26:44"I can actually only spend X amount of time with you.
- 26:46" What ended up happening was because that person respected
- 26:51my time boundary,
- 26:52they heard it and I was then allowed inside of myself I felt then I was allowed
- 26:57to have more space for myself or my creative process for what I needed to do
- 27:02in life. What ended up happening is that that relationship completely flourished
- 27:07has just opened up in ways like beyond my imagining because I was willing to
- 27:12set that boundary to right size my life to say, "Hey, no judgment.
- 27:17I love you and I love the time we spend together,
- 27:19but I need this particular container right now in my life." And if that
- 27:24person hadn't been willing to hear me in that,
- 27:27that probably would've been a different story. But they were,
- 27:29they were able to hear that.
- 27:31They were able to give me that space and what has ended up happening is a
- 27:35gigantic flourishing in our connection as well as a flourishing within me
- 27:41in my general sense of wellbeing and direction in the world
- 27:46because I got feedback from the world of what it actually feels like to be
- 27:50inside of a right size container, that it's okay for me to set those boundaries,
- 27:55to really make my life be what I need it to be in order to
- 28:00flourish because oftentimes for sensitives right sizing,
- 28:04it means taking up space for yourself. It means shaping your life,
- 28:09right sizing your life so that yourself can have the space that you need
- 28:14to flourish.
- 28:15And I think there's really an invitation here to take up space in a way that you
- 28:20weren't before. When we right size our life,
- 28:22it allows our spirit to expand in the way it so deeply desires
- 28:28and you will know that it's right. So when we say the word right,
- 28:32it's really what's right for you, right?
- 28:34No one can tell you what's right for you and right sizing your life,
- 28:36but you'll know what's right because you'll feel comfortable to expand again.
- 28:41Now notice I said comfortable to expand.
- 28:45I'm not just saying comfortable because sometimes being in a too tight space can
- 28:49feel very comfortable or sometimes being in a big space that's we're used to
- 28:52maintaining can feel comfortable to a part of ourselves. You feel comfortable to
- 28:57expand. You feel comfortable to be more of yourself.
- 29:01It opens up new layers of possibility and perspective
- 29:06for you in your life.
- 29:08It's like me sleeping on that mattress in my bedroom.
- 29:11Suddenly I had all these ideas of how I could redo the bedroom with really no
- 29:15money at all,
- 29:16but redo the bedroom so that it felt more like a cozy place,
- 29:21more like a place that was mine and it has really transformed my life.
- 29:25So you'll know that it's right because you'll feel that sense that you can
- 29:28expand, that there's more possibility here.
- 29:31And the goal here is simply aliveness,
- 29:34to feel more alive in your life.
- 29:36This is why I've had so many friends that have moved out of whatever big house
- 29:41they were trying to maintain and into their vans or into a tiny house or
- 29:46have consciously walked away from big careers and in fields that
- 29:51they frankly weren't passionate about anymore to become a gardener or to become
- 29:55an herbalist or to become a poet because it was the right size for their soul.
- 29:59It was the right size for their life and do they make less money? Yeah,
- 30:02probably, but are they happier? Are they more alive?
- 30:06Do they feel more comfortable to expand? Yes, yes, yes.
- 30:10And this is the whole point of right sizing our life.
- 30:14And this is super interesting to me. Once we right size our life,
- 30:17once you do give yourself permission to do this,
- 30:20we will sometimes then end up making different choices, which is so cool.
- 30:25It's like if you were like, for example, in this relationship example, okay,
- 30:30I need more time and space from this person,
- 30:31and then you take that time and space and all of a sudden then you're like,
- 30:34wait, I actually do want to spend that day with you.
- 30:38I do want to meet up after school today. I do want to, whatever it is,
- 30:42get the kids together on a Sunday. It will open up actually your ability to
- 30:47make choices that feel more authentically aligned with you.
- 30:50And sometimes those choices are the opposite of what you might've made before,
- 30:54but it's because now you have the space to really feel yourself,
- 30:57the space to really ground in yourself,
- 31:00you have the right container in your life for your soul.
- 31:03And so it's this beautiful dance where you get to delight and surprise yourself
- 31:07the more you right size your life to meet you where you are at now
- 31:12and everything that flows into our life, even when it looks like downsizing,
- 31:17even when it looks like restriction, even when it looks like recession,
- 31:21it's here to help us right size within the
- 31:25existence that is now,
- 31:28to help us meet ourselves now and find ways to be alive in our
- 31:32current circumstances.
- 31:34And this is exactly what right sizing your life is about because the magic of
- 31:38right sizing is that when you find the right containers for yourself in this
- 31:43lifetime, you connect with the container of your soul,
- 31:47the wider oversoul that is here to hold you,
- 31:50this part of you that is wider than you, that sees the bigger picture,
- 31:54that needs the space to land on this earth and express itself fully and you
- 31:59connect to that when you are willing to claim a right sized life for
- 32:04yourself and for your life. So if this is landing
- 32:09for you,
- 32:10if there's something in your life that you feel like this has all been a message
- 32:14coming through me to you to say, yes, do it, right size that thing,
- 32:19I would love to hear from you.
- 32:21You can leave me a voice message over on my website at AsiaSooler/remember or
- 32:26you can join me over on the Remember Why You Are Here Substack and leave a
- 32:31message over there on this post or really anywhere.
- 32:34Let me know how this is landing for you,
- 32:36what you're ready to right size in your life. I will say in a very honest,
- 32:41open and authentic way,
- 32:42me moving to Substack was part of this whole era of me right
- 32:47sizing my life. I'm not kidding when I say this one bed change,
- 32:51I just started then right sizing everything and Subseq has been a part of that
- 32:55for me. I found that being on Instagram in particular where I had over
- 33:00a hundred thousand followers and that space has been so supportive to me and so
- 33:05essential to me and my growth,
- 33:06but I found that it wasn't the right size for me anymore,
- 33:10that I wasn't able to show up with the fullness of myself,
- 33:13that I felt fragmented when I went on there,
- 33:16that a part of me felt like I was withholding some aspect of myself in my
- 33:20sharing there. And I just without judgment, without being like, oh,
- 33:24this space is wrong or I'm wrong, because neither one of those things are true,
- 33:28was able to just embrace this is just not the right size for me in my life.
- 33:31I need to right size. I need to move into a space that's more intimate,
- 33:35that's more relational, that's more earnest, more authentic, slower, deeper,
- 33:40and that's exactly what Substack is. So if you'd like to join me over in that
- 33:44space and go deeper into remembering why you are here, I would love, love,
- 33:48love to see you there.
- 33:50So I am sending you so many blessings as we continue to walk through this month
- 33:55of creative impulse,
- 33:56of authentic expression of right sizing our life so that our soul can
- 34:01expand in the ways it's meant to in this life.
- 34:04And as you move through the sun that is rising in this month,
- 34:09as per our intuitive reading for this month,
- 34:11as you move into this new era of really finding the containers and the
- 34:17overall structure of a life that meets you, that helps you feel creative,
- 34:21that helps you be in touch with your own authentic self may also remind you of
- 34:26that most essential thing,
- 34:28that thing that is so helpful to connect to and that is remembering
- 34:33why you're here.
