- 0:26Speaker 1: go a little week, Yes, pro Bowl? Who cares? Pro
- 0:31Speaker 1: Bowl Week? Uh? So, Eddie and I are We're gonna
- 0:34Speaker 1: throw to us because Eddie and I are in California
- 0:36Speaker 1: on a little uh setup that we're recording out there,
- 0:40Speaker 1: and let's throw to us now. I hope it works.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Me to God, I hope we when I go, okay,
- 0:45Speaker 1: go that it's a lot of tables doing us. Okay,
- 0:48Speaker 1: here we go. We're hoping this works because we've never
- 0:51Speaker 1: just taken the kit with us on the road without
- 0:53Speaker 1: Mike d and Mike DA is a savior of all
- 0:55Speaker 1: good audio. Wait, what do you mean? No, No, it's
- 0:58Speaker 1: it's it's working. I see, I see it moving. I
- 1:01Speaker 1: don't trust that what you see is the reality and
- 1:05Speaker 1: somehow it's gonna get back. But we are in pebble. Well,
- 1:10Speaker 1: we're in Monterey, Uh, by the sea, man, it's also
- 1:14Speaker 1: fancy here in every way all the towns. Well I
- 1:18Speaker 1: walk around to I was like, is this caramel? I
- 1:21Speaker 1: think you're talking about the kids. Well, I did ask
- 1:23Speaker 1: for sweet tea at a fish seafood. No, I wouldn't
- 1:29Speaker 1: say fancy, but legit play. I don't know what do
- 1:34Speaker 1: you call it? A very nice but it was like
- 1:38Speaker 1: not just nice, like fancy. It wasn't even fancy. It
- 1:42Speaker 1: was what do you call something when it's like pure real?
- 1:45Speaker 1: What kind of rusta? Authentic? That's it? Thank you. I'm
- 1:47Speaker 1: so tired. Eddie and I have been on the golf
- 1:49Speaker 1: course since six o'clock this morning for three days, and
- 1:53Speaker 1: it's the greatest thing ever. But I'm also tired. I've
- 1:55Speaker 1: also been really sick um for a bit um. So
- 1:58Speaker 1: let me just start with a couple of things. I'm
- 2:00Speaker 1: mind right now. What I want to get to definitely
- 2:02Speaker 1: Tom Brady retirement. Also, it's the Pro Bowl this weekend,
- 2:06Speaker 1: so almost d g AF about football. And on my
- 2:12Speaker 1: Twitter feed now I get fights all the time. You
- 2:15Speaker 1: got on Twitter, doll, kind of not. I get videos
- 2:18Speaker 1: of people fighting all the time. Why are you like
- 2:21Speaker 1: in an algorithm. I don't like watching fights because for
- 2:24Speaker 1: the for the most part, watch people get punched, and
- 2:27Speaker 1: I don't like people just fighting makes me a comfortable.
- 2:29Speaker 1: It made me a comfortable in school. I wasn't someone
- 2:32Speaker 1: that was like, oh fine, let's go watch but I
- 2:35Speaker 1: watched them and there's this account called fight Haven and
- 2:39Speaker 1: it pops up. I'm clicking into it now, so it's
- 2:40Speaker 1: gonna give me them again for sure for a while.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So you're not following them, they just don't follow them,
- 2:44Speaker 1: but it pops up in my for you, which at
- 2:46Speaker 1: first I hated on Twitter because it was like, what
- 2:48Speaker 1: does Twitter need too for you? And it's actually pretty
- 2:52Speaker 1: good because it's the same stuff that I followed, just
- 2:55Speaker 1: a couple other things that are like it, and I
- 2:56Speaker 1: like it. And so, but they keep giving me fights
- 3:00Speaker 1: from fight Haven. And what I like about these fights
- 3:03Speaker 1: is it's always somebody doing something mean or dumb or
- 3:05Speaker 1: picking on and then get there butt whooped. So it's
- 3:07Speaker 1: almos almost like a superhero movie. Yeah, and so this guy,
- 3:11Speaker 1: but I don't like to really watch the bodies, the
- 3:16Speaker 1: fists flop into the faces and that the that physical part. Man.
- 3:21Speaker 1: But there's was one customer in a restaurant I'm watching
- 3:23Speaker 1: right now. He goes in, he's pissed about something, and
- 3:26Speaker 1: he's like yelling at the store on restoring. There's probably
- 3:28Speaker 1: two thirds of what the customer is sizewise, and the
- 3:32Speaker 1: storm was like, hey, man, all good, let's let's fix up.
- 3:35Speaker 1: And the guy starts to be real aggressive and walks
- 3:37Speaker 1: back into the kitchen, and so the story was like, no,
- 3:40Speaker 1: you can't go back there, and he shoves the store
- 3:43Speaker 1: store and he still cool, chill is shorter, skinnier, cook, chef, waiter,
- 3:54Speaker 1: I don't know. It comes back and it's like, hey,
- 3:56Speaker 1: there's no need for this. The customer, he's huge and
- 3:59Speaker 1: like Tommy Bahamas works and a T shirt, takes a
- 4:02Speaker 1: big right right cross swing at him and the owner
- 4:06Speaker 1: just takes about a half half head back and again misses. Well,
- 4:11Speaker 1: he's just in his momentum. The owner throws him in
- 4:15Speaker 1: like the big sink, and then the other guy comes
- 4:18Speaker 1: in and they just start pounding this dude, and I'm like,
- 4:21Speaker 1: doesn't talk about talking about shouldn't make a plain a
- 4:24Speaker 1: buch of French fries being cold. But I don't like fights,
- 4:27Speaker 1: but I like it when people get there just do. Yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 1: there's always better when like they deserve it. Yes, there's
- 4:33Speaker 1: the other one. I was watching a minute ago on
- 4:34Speaker 1: the toilet was there was this He looked like it's
- 4:37Speaker 1: about fifteen, and he was about half the size as
- 4:41Speaker 1: When you look at that, it makes he fel like
- 4:42Speaker 1: we're not on, we're not do check. And so this
- 4:46Speaker 1: guy's probably looks like a senior in high school, and
- 4:48Speaker 1: he's picking on the kid and he's like choking him
- 4:50Speaker 1: and he keeps he chokes him and shoves him back,
- 4:52Speaker 1: chokes him again and shoves back, and this kid it's
- 4:56Speaker 1: like all right. So the big kid then takes him
- 4:58Speaker 1: and shoves him to the ground hard. And this little guy,
- 5:01Speaker 1: I don't know what he does kickboxing wise, does some
- 5:04Speaker 1: sort of Mortal Kombat ground spin, wipes the dude out,
- 5:09Speaker 1: kicks him in the face. I don't remember how to
- 5:10Speaker 1: his hand did like the claw when he had a concussion.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It's what happens to the big guy on the ground.
- 5:16Speaker 1: He gets whooped and the little kid is a little fourteen,
- 5:19Speaker 1: it's much smaller, standing over him going now, what would
- 5:21Speaker 1: you like me to do? Now? What would you like
- 5:24Speaker 1: me to I mean, and the big dude is out
- 5:27Speaker 1: and so I don't like fights, but I do like justice,
- 5:31Speaker 1: and so they give it to me all the time.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And I just got a bunch of more because I
- 5:35Speaker 1: keep telling you about it and I've been on this
- 5:37Speaker 1: one video. Um anyway, So for you page, good fight, haveing, good,
- 5:44Speaker 1: lots of golf, good brain, a little tired, um, But
- 5:47Speaker 1: we are in Pebble Beach playing golf in the Pebble
- 5:51Speaker 1: Beach Pro Am. We played all the practice rounds this
- 5:54Speaker 1: week and have a lot of stories and a lot
- 5:56Speaker 1: of notes to tell you about. And but I'm gonna
- 5:58Speaker 1: start first with Tom Brady retire tiring, which it just
- 6:01Speaker 1: popped up on my feet today under Fight Haven and
- 6:03Speaker 1: then he got beat up, but that's just Zell went
- 6:08Speaker 1: cross body on him and I was like, you know what,
- 6:12Speaker 1: But now he gets on and says the stuff, and
- 6:14Speaker 1: that's it. Here's why I liked it. Nobody broke it,
- 6:19Speaker 1: Schefter Rapp report didn't break it. Then there wasn't speculation
- 6:23Speaker 1: waiting for a message from him or a cryptic tweet
- 6:27Speaker 1: or they're not going to talk to Teddy Bruski about
- 6:30Speaker 1: what he thinks. He's like, Hey, I'm good. Basically, it's
- 6:34Speaker 1: been awesome. Basically owns every record. He even has the
- 6:38Speaker 1: most Fantasy points ever. Really that's a cool record. Yes,
- 6:42Speaker 1: so good for Tom Brady. I did not think he
- 6:45Speaker 1: would retire this year. I thought he'd go one more.
- 6:47Speaker 1: And I think, like we always do with the greatest,
- 6:53Speaker 1: when we live with them, we began to take them
- 6:55Speaker 1: for granted because it's normal. Anything normal we take for
- 6:57Speaker 1: granted because it's every day normal. Every day we start
- 7:00Speaker 1: to go, oh, this is every day, so it's normal.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You know, in five, seven, ten years, we're gonna get
- 7:07Speaker 1: to go like I did when I was very young,
- 7:09Speaker 1: like you did. Oh, I watched Michael Jordan play, and
- 7:12Speaker 1: that would be Tom Brady twenty years from now, like
- 7:16Speaker 1: I watched Tom. I watched Tom Brady play, and we
- 7:18Speaker 1: took it for granted. For sure. Watching on all those
- 7:20Speaker 1: Super Bowls, we expected the Patriots to be what they were. Um,
- 7:24Speaker 1: you know, Brady gets hurt, and um, they're not. You know,
- 7:29Speaker 1: you really made winning super Bowls look easy, just even
- 7:33Speaker 1: getting to them. All of all of that, Yeah, you
- 7:35Speaker 1: just it was. There was an expectation, there was an
- 7:38Speaker 1: expectation of greatness that he said, yeah, and with that
- 7:42Speaker 1: there was an expectation that once he reproved his greatness,
- 7:47Speaker 1: he was gonna let you know. He wasn't expected to
- 7:49Speaker 1: be great based on how much you get to play
- 7:52Speaker 1: at Michigan where he was drafted. That picture at the
- 7:57Speaker 1: pre draft workout the Indianapolis Combine, thank You a little
- 8:02Speaker 1: brain fry where he's just no shirt in boxers and
- 8:05Speaker 1: it looks like the long John Silver's guy. Yeah, he
- 8:10Speaker 1: looked like just a dude. So all of that. So
- 8:13Speaker 1: it was just that cycle of he wins, he wins big,
- 8:18Speaker 1: he continues to win big, he reminds you he shouldn't
- 8:21Speaker 1: be winning big, and it's almost like, well, if Tom
- 8:25Speaker 1: Brady's could do it, and I don't think this is true,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I can do it. But it was cool to see
- 8:30Speaker 1: somebody drafted sole late, somebody that didn't really get a
- 8:32Speaker 1: big run at starting starting quarterback in Michigan. Um, it's awesome.
- 8:36Speaker 1: So he's the best ever. I'm sure we'll do a
- 8:38Speaker 1: longer thing at some point as he's the best ever,
- 8:42Speaker 1: and what do you say? And he retired today and
- 8:44Speaker 1: there's no drama about it, and I can respect that
- 8:47Speaker 1: as well, because there was drama last time and he
- 8:52Speaker 1: did say that. He's like, you know, I'm not gonna
- 8:53Speaker 1: do it last time. You can only write off once, right,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and that's not true. But far brote off like nine times.
- 8:58Speaker 1: He I like, I like what he said, though, Like
- 9:00Speaker 1: I likely he just said, you know what, like the
- 9:02Speaker 1: all the drama behind the first time around, I'm not
- 9:05Speaker 1: going to do that. He did say this, you are
- 9:07Speaker 1: the first to know. Do you think he really meant that? Like,
- 9:11Speaker 1: I know schafter didn't break. I know he said that,
- 9:13Speaker 1: but do you really believe that? Like I want to
- 9:15Speaker 1: let my people know on social media, I'm gonna go
- 9:17Speaker 1: by the beach, sit by these condos and talk to
- 9:20Speaker 1: the fans, and they're gonna be the first to know.
- 9:23Speaker 1: At that level, if you tell anyone that has connections
- 9:27Speaker 1: and those connections have connections and relationships, even his agent,
- 9:32Speaker 1: I would be afraid that what would happen like last
- 9:34Speaker 1: time happens again. So this is a world built on relationships,
- 9:40Speaker 1: not just football, not just NFL, the world who gets
- 9:44Speaker 1: hired for this job? Who? And so I think he
- 9:47Speaker 1: probably had some people and he was like, man, I'm
- 9:49Speaker 1: really nearing a decision. And yes, I do think that
- 9:52Speaker 1: him getting on that was letting everybody know at the
- 9:55Speaker 1: same time, even the people that knew he was about
- 9:56Speaker 1: to make a decision. I think people knew he was
- 9:58Speaker 1: about to make his decision, but don't think he wanted
- 10:00Speaker 1: that to happen again, because then it's just a bad look.
- 10:02Speaker 1: And then you remembered always for being that Brett Farve,
- 10:05Speaker 1: because that's our final but most distinct memory is him
- 10:13Speaker 1: deciding if he's coming back, him being in the airport,
- 10:15Speaker 1: being chased over the top by helicopters. He's going to
- 10:17Speaker 1: the Minnesota Vikings as it was like o J. It was,
- 10:22Speaker 1: but it was ridiculous so many times, like that's what
- 10:25Speaker 1: you think about now, So yes, I do. I think
- 10:29Speaker 1: there are people knowing he was about to make a decision,
- 10:31Speaker 1: and maybe they knew Eileen, but not enough to be
- 10:32Speaker 1: able to go and call one of the guys chef
- 10:36Speaker 1: to report, because they would go unnamed sources say Brady's done,
- 10:41Speaker 1: and you can be at a named source. But yes,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I mean, and there are times it happens. I'll give
- 10:46Speaker 1: you a story, and I don't think I've ever told
- 10:48Speaker 1: before similarly, and I'm not comparing the two you've retired before.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Seven times, Actually this week, every day. And um, so
- 11:02Speaker 1: one of my dearest friends was a professional tennis player.
- 11:06Speaker 1: His name is Andy Roddick. And Andy was number one
- 11:09Speaker 1: in the world for a while. He won US Open,
- 11:13Speaker 1: went to Wimbledon finals so many times. He was America's
- 11:18Speaker 1: best tennis player forever. He was like in the top
- 11:21Speaker 1: ten for like longer than any other player at the time.
- 11:26Speaker 1: What are some crazy some crazy stats, right, And there
- 11:30Speaker 1: wasn't really much debate as to when he was gonna retire,
- 11:34Speaker 1: like it's gonna happen now, it's gonna hapen in six months.
- 11:37Speaker 1: But he was getting a little older in the tennis world,
- 11:40Speaker 1: and I'm gonna speak for him, gonna be wrong in
- 11:41Speaker 1: some of these places, um and Andy was really strong
- 11:47Speaker 1: and where he could just bully people at times with
- 11:50Speaker 1: his strength and athleticism that way, some of the other
- 11:52Speaker 1: guys were getting not as strong, but they were getting strong.
- 11:55Speaker 1: But they also played a different style of tennis, which
- 11:57Speaker 1: is why and he never got far in the French
- 11:58Speaker 1: because you had to be able to move. Nadal was
- 12:00Speaker 1: always in the French because he is all over the
- 12:02Speaker 1: backs and that that that clay takes some of the
- 12:06Speaker 1: U featherball, so anyway, all the physics of tennis aside.
- 12:10Speaker 1: It's just a random morning. I'm just gonna assign a
- 12:13Speaker 1: day to the story on a Monday, and to get
- 12:15Speaker 1: a call from Andy, who when he was in the
- 12:17Speaker 1: States not playing tennis all over the world, we hung
- 12:21Speaker 1: out a really good amount, or we made a point
- 12:26Speaker 1: to just see each other, because you know, I don't
- 12:29Speaker 1: have a huge friendship group that I keep really close,
- 12:32Speaker 1: and neither did he frankly, and he calls me and
- 12:35Speaker 1: he goes, hey, man, I'm retiring. I'm like, wait, I
- 12:37Speaker 1: never I didn't think you're trying. I knew in the
- 12:40Speaker 1: next five years. And I'm like, what do you mean
- 12:42Speaker 1: you're retiring. He goes, I'm retiring. I just woke up
- 12:46Speaker 1: this morning and I'm gonna go play the US opens
- 12:48Speaker 1: my final one. And I just want you to know
- 12:51Speaker 1: before I tell anybody else, because I'm gonna I tell
- 12:53Speaker 1: the media now. And I'm sure he told his mom's dad,
- 12:56Speaker 1: but I think I was in that first little block
- 12:57Speaker 1: of friends he called. He goes, hey, it would be
- 12:59Speaker 1: really cool if you came up and went to the
- 13:01Speaker 1: tournament with me or watching my fine, so obviously, and
- 13:05Speaker 1: then I don't even have any money. It's not like
- 13:07Speaker 1: now where I'm wildly loaded. You know, it's so low. Yeah,
- 13:11Speaker 1: so as in Austin got a flight went up and
- 13:16Speaker 1: they didn't tell anybody. And I don't know, maybe Tom
- 13:18Speaker 1: Brady also just decided, this is my point, Maybe he
- 13:21Speaker 1: just kind of woke up and went, yeah, I think
- 13:24Speaker 1: I'm done. It seemed like it. I think I'm done.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And because I saw that happen to Andy, who was
- 13:29Speaker 1: elite in his sport. So that's what makes me think.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I don't think that's all like a pr It could
- 13:35Speaker 1: be a little bit of a PR thing where he
- 13:37Speaker 1: doesn't want to go out remembered like that. But I
- 13:38Speaker 1: think it could have been him going I gotta make
- 13:42Speaker 1: a decision and he just wakes up and it's like
- 13:43Speaker 1: I don't want to do it again, and you know what,
- 13:46Speaker 1: like it's really good that he did that instead of
- 13:49Speaker 1: waiting two more seasons and having three bad seasons. But
- 13:53Speaker 1: I don't think he would have. I think he had
- 13:54Speaker 1: another couple. Listen. I think if he goes somewhere with the
- 13:57Speaker 1: the good offensive line where you can run play action,
- 13:58Speaker 1: you think you could have been good again. I you've
- 14:00Speaker 1: give been pretty I think you could have been a
- 14:01Speaker 1: top fift quarterback. It's just tough because you don't know
- 14:04Speaker 1: that's true, but you don't either. And there were times
- 14:06Speaker 1: this season when they did get their running game going,
- 14:09Speaker 1: because again, Brady's not mobile, never has been mobile, by
- 14:12Speaker 1: the way, it's not like the old age thing has
- 14:14Speaker 1: made him not mobile. Maybe a little less not mobile.
- 14:18Speaker 1: But with Brady, if you can if you don't have
- 14:22Speaker 1: a running game, if Blunt's not there, if they're not
- 14:24Speaker 1: getting four yards a pop, it does not open play action,
- 14:28Speaker 1: which which opens Brady's skill set completely. When Brady's running
- 14:32Speaker 1: play action, he's got the defense of the palm of
- 14:34Speaker 1: his hands because they've got to respect to run. And
- 14:37Speaker 1: he still had the arm. Nobody ever questioned his arm,
- 14:41Speaker 1: so I think he had another. But what's he gonna
- 14:43Speaker 1: do go to San Francisco? Not now especially, I mean
- 14:47Speaker 1: it's a u c L tear for a party one
- 14:49Speaker 1: where it's one of the u c L injuries. They're
- 14:51Speaker 1: they're continuing to go. Maybe by the time this comes out,
- 14:53Speaker 1: they'll know what's up specifically, but it could be six
- 14:55Speaker 1: months out, it could be less, and it's not a
- 14:58Speaker 1: full reconstruction. They're saying, which would be real bad and
- 15:01Speaker 1: he probably have to miss next season and or enough
- 15:03Speaker 1: of it to Matt, I think Pretty's probably the guy.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And I'll tell you why, because I used to say
- 15:09Speaker 1: he had to get to a super Bowl for sure
- 15:10Speaker 1: to be the guy. I think because he got hurt early.
- 15:16Speaker 1: And first of all, I had had a great season
- 15:19Speaker 1: when all those games in a row as a rookie,
- 15:21Speaker 1: La La. We know the story Tom Brady story, Mr Relevant.
- 15:24Speaker 1: The fact that he played so well and the only
- 15:26Speaker 1: time he didn't win is when he got injured in
- 15:28Speaker 1: the first six or seven plays. And then now that
- 15:31Speaker 1: we know how bout he came back into the game
- 15:33Speaker 1: with a torn knowing he was hurt, and then it's like,
- 15:37Speaker 1: well they're not throwing Bro's got one arm. The fact
- 15:42Speaker 1: that he was on that field and it shows you
- 15:45Speaker 1: like the dedication that he has. You know, because I
- 15:50Speaker 1: think you said it you saw uh McCaffrey throw up McCay.
- 15:56Speaker 1: When once I saw McCaffrey warming up, I'm like, this
- 15:58Speaker 1: is we're in trouble. You didn't you say, because again
- 16:00Speaker 1: I didn't get to watch all of it because we
- 16:01Speaker 1: were um Louis. They're listening to it out with our
- 16:04Speaker 1: first day here or watching it in a bar TV.
- 16:07Speaker 1: I didn't see him like looking at playbook pages. Oh yeah,
- 16:09Speaker 1: DoD They had the play the offensive coordinators had the
- 16:12Speaker 1: playbook out. McCaffrey was looking through it kind of almost
- 16:15Speaker 1: like counting two fingers, three fingers leapt, pointing to the
- 16:18Speaker 1: lap point of the right I mean, cramming, cramming for
- 16:21Speaker 1: the five plays that he was about to go in
- 16:23Speaker 1: and do. Crazy. I've never seen that before in my life.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Like he's got a physics final in two hours. So
- 16:30Speaker 1: much bones that that that he was there were They
- 16:33Speaker 1: had two helmets. They had his running back helmet and
- 16:35Speaker 1: had his quarterback helmet, and they were literally changing the
- 16:38Speaker 1: face masks. I didn't know that, Yes, and they were
- 16:40Speaker 1: changing the face mask being like, all right, this is
- 16:41Speaker 1: gonna be your helmet when you go in his quarterback
- 16:43Speaker 1: because you're not gonna be able to see what your
- 16:45Speaker 1: running back helmets. Crazy and Samcisco really good team. It
- 16:49Speaker 1: sucks that they lost like that because they didn't even
- 16:52Speaker 1: have a shot. Screw San Francisco. Don't like them, but yes,
- 16:55Speaker 1: they didn't have sucks. So that's our football version of this.
- 16:59Speaker 1: And I've taken a bunch of notes from over the
- 17:00Speaker 1: past few days. I'm gonna tell you guys first of
- 17:02Speaker 1: all about how we got here and exactly where we
- 17:04Speaker 1: are and set the scene. Um, so we're in Pebble Beach, Well,
- 17:10Speaker 1: the courses are in Pebble Beach, California. There's an event
- 17:12Speaker 1: called the A, T and T Pebble Beach Pro Am,
- 17:14Speaker 1: which they bring out celebrities and they team him with
- 17:19Speaker 1: pros and you just try to play well. And there's
- 17:23Speaker 1: a whole system based on what your handicap is. And
- 17:26Speaker 1: I don't have very good Handicap's fine, it's not good.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not what you'd say I'm a good golfer.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I'm an average golfer. Occasionally I can play and occasionally
- 17:34Speaker 1: can hit hit it well, but I'm okay. And so
- 17:38Speaker 1: a few months ago and and everything will be out
- 17:41Speaker 1: by the time this comes out, so I can tell
- 17:42Speaker 1: the whole story. A few months ago, I was like, hey,
- 17:44Speaker 1: should come out and be the alternate because it was
- 17:47Speaker 1: way late. They had already invited everybody, but they're like,
- 17:50Speaker 1: we want you to come out. And Ben Rector, who's
- 17:53Speaker 1: a really good friend of mine, was the alternate last
- 17:55Speaker 1: year and he played and and so I called him
- 17:57Speaker 1: and I was like, hey, should be here. He's like, yes,
- 17:59Speaker 1: should be. It's an awesome week. You should be the
- 18:00Speaker 1: alternate because there's a good shot you get to play.
- 18:04Speaker 1: And so I was like, great, So I commit. And
- 18:06Speaker 1: by the alternate means I'm coming out playing all the practice.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I don't even I need a caddy at this point,
- 18:09Speaker 1: I'm just coming to meet Caitlin and I and so
- 18:12Speaker 1: I was coming out and um, we're here with staying
- 18:18Speaker 1: in the same house with Jake Owen and Erica because
- 18:23Speaker 1: they are like our close life friends. And so at
- 18:27Speaker 1: the checks like I'm going out. He plays in it
- 18:30Speaker 1: every year. Big, He's the one that got me, like
- 18:32Speaker 1: the connections even get here. And he's like, we'll just
- 18:35Speaker 1: stay in the same house and I'll show you. So whatever.
- 18:38Speaker 1: So if Jake and Eric are gonna be there, let's go.
- 18:42Speaker 1: So I say, yep, do some promo work for him.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I'm super excited to get invited. We are ready to go.
- 18:51Speaker 1: We got everything booked, we got they say. Then Jake goes, oh,
- 18:56Speaker 1: you need a caddy and I'm like, what do you mean?
- 19:00Speaker 1: Like one from the clubhouse He goes, no, you should
- 19:01Speaker 1: bring somebody that you think would be hello, come down
- 19:05Speaker 1: if you want. It's like somebody the top of the stairs.
- 19:07Speaker 1: It sounds like what everybody's upstairs. And I think everybody
- 19:09Speaker 1: wants to be on the podcast, but I know it'll
- 19:11Speaker 1: be a nine hour podcast. Eddie is like, we should
- 19:14Speaker 1: get Jake and I'm why does that Jake for an
- 19:15Speaker 1: hour in the Bobbycast. I've been with Jake for four
- 19:17Speaker 1: days and I know you have to be great, but
- 19:19Speaker 1: we had to be three hours long. Sports for sure,
- 19:22Speaker 1: but it'd be three hours long. Dude, Florida State right done?
- 19:27Speaker 1: Tom Brady, dude, yeah, for sure, he could. Um, I'm
- 19:29Speaker 1: losing my voice already, as you can see. So we uh,
- 19:33Speaker 1: we were. So I say, I say to Eddie, you
- 19:36Speaker 1: want to go and Caddy for me? You have to
- 19:38Speaker 1: be gone for like six days, which you have four
- 19:41Speaker 1: kids and a wife, and we both knew the answer
- 19:43Speaker 1: was probably no. And you said, I'll ask, but I'm
- 19:50Speaker 1: gonna wait for the right spot to ask. You have
- 19:51Speaker 1: to wait for those right moments when you ask for
- 19:53Speaker 1: a big ass like this, and waited a couple of
- 19:56Speaker 1: days so much so that's a dude. Do you have
- 19:59Speaker 1: any it? So you like, haven't that time? Me? I
- 20:01Speaker 1: give me till tomorrow. I'm like all right. And then
- 20:04Speaker 1: you said she didn't say no, and I'm like, wow,
- 20:08Speaker 1: those were her words. She's like, I'm not saying no.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Just give me a few days to think about it.
- 20:13Speaker 1: So then Edie's like yeah, man. So I'm like, this
- 20:16Speaker 1: is amazing. So it's Eddie and I here and there's
- 20:23Speaker 1: celebrities everywhere. And it's not like Nashville famous, where everybody's like, hey,
- 20:28Speaker 1: good to see even when they don't care, and some
- 20:31Speaker 1: of your friends that we are but you still like nice.
- 20:33Speaker 1: This is like people that are famous and they are
- 20:36Speaker 1: secure and what they do and they're just awesome. Everybody's
- 20:41Speaker 1: been so nice everyone because nobody feels threatened. And I
- 20:46Speaker 1: didn't even bad golf me. I sung to Eric Church
- 20:49Speaker 1: today and I was like, I got I have to leave,
- 20:54Speaker 1: and I'll tell us for a second. He goes, oh man,
- 20:56Speaker 1: it gets okay, suck anyway. So I told him. He goes,
- 20:59Speaker 1: he probably don't suck. I was like, yeah, dude, I'm
- 21:01Speaker 1: like a twelve or thirteen handicap, and he goes, oh man,
- 21:04Speaker 1: I said, see he goes, No, I'm a fifteen, so
- 21:09Speaker 1: it was pretty funny. I I get told with him accidentally.
- 21:13Speaker 1: So but I tell you, Eric and I talked for
- 21:14Speaker 1: longer as like normal people today than I've ever talked
- 21:17Speaker 1: to him a whole life in Nashville, because it's always
- 21:19Speaker 1: based around something in Nashville. Yeah, it's a different setting here,
- 21:22Speaker 1: so and and everybody's got like a golf We're all
- 21:25Speaker 1: excited to like play golf at nice places because we're
- 21:28Speaker 1: all just kids still. So okay, So I wrote some
- 21:32Speaker 1: notes down. I'm gonna bring it up and then we'll
- 21:34Speaker 1: talk about each of them. Ron Rivera, Oh my gosh.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Ron Rivera is a large riverboat Roun Riverboat. Ron is
- 21:43Speaker 1: now the head football coach of the Washington Commanders. And
- 21:47Speaker 1: we're in this room and we all wear name tags.
- 21:51Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if you are Ray Romano, who's here,
- 21:56Speaker 1: everyone knows, or if you're me who know. But everybody
- 22:01Speaker 1: wears them, and nobody's like, I ain't wearing a lanyard.
- 22:04Speaker 1: It's because it's just the rule. You just wear it.
- 22:07Speaker 1: And even the people they're working are like, I have
- 22:09Speaker 1: to do my job. I'm sorry, They're like, I know
- 22:11Speaker 1: who you are, Mr Obama, but I need to see
- 22:13Speaker 1: your lanyard. Okay, you're good to go, so everybody's and
- 22:17Speaker 1: I'll post pictures of it. He's going as lanyard and
- 22:20Speaker 1: I'm like, Mr Rivera, Bobby just want to say, you know,
- 22:25Speaker 1: love how I said. I didn't say like love how
- 22:29Speaker 1: you coach, but I was just like, I love the
- 22:31Speaker 1: integrity that you that you show and what you're known
- 22:34Speaker 1: for and have friends that that know him a little bit.
- 22:37Speaker 1: And he was like, oh man, wow, thank you very much.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I appreciate that. And then he didn't ask me a question,
- 22:42Speaker 1: which means he's not bothered by me saying because even
- 22:47Speaker 1: if he's bothered, he's gonna be nice. And if he
- 22:49Speaker 1: doesn't ask the question, he's like, oh man, thanks, yeah cool.
- 22:52Speaker 1: And then he's waiting for you to say I gotta
- 22:53Speaker 1: take a picture, or he's waiting for you to leave.
- 22:55Speaker 1: But that didn't happen. He was like, oh yeah, he's
- 22:57Speaker 1: where you Where do you? Where do you live? I
- 22:59Speaker 1: told him? And then Eddie walks up right about that time,
- 23:02Speaker 1: and Edie want a cowboy hat, was wearing a cowboy
- 23:06Speaker 1: He immediately goes to Eddie's cowboy hat. He looked at
- 23:10Speaker 1: me almost like what the crap are you wearing? Like
- 23:14Speaker 1: who did you think? Did you think about that as
- 23:16Speaker 1: you're walking up to him? Because I didn't either, No,
- 23:19Speaker 1: not at all. I forgot I had a cowboy's hat on.
- 23:21Speaker 1: But he looked at me like, you know, like who
- 23:23Speaker 1: almost squinty eyed, like who is this guy? Funny, like
- 23:27Speaker 1: like who is this guy? This guy? And I got
- 23:30Speaker 1: and I'm just a coach. It's one of my favorite
- 23:32Speaker 1: things in the world to call a coach coach, like
- 23:35Speaker 1: you know, like I don't need to call him by
- 23:37Speaker 1: my name, by their name. It's like coach, good to
- 23:39Speaker 1: meet you. And he shakes my hand, but he shakes
- 23:41Speaker 1: my handbones and he just like keeps the shape going
- 23:44Speaker 1: and then looks at my face, looks at my hat
- 23:46Speaker 1: as I don't like the hat of yours, And I forgot.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I forgot you had the hat on too. I forgot
- 23:51Speaker 1: I had the hat on. And I'm like, oh my gosh, yes,
- 23:54Speaker 1: commanders cowboys. Of course he was so nice. I was
- 23:58Speaker 1: shocked at how much uh information he was telling you.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so I say, hey, what do you guys
- 24:05Speaker 1: do about quarterback next year? Like you see and if
- 24:07Speaker 1: he would say, because what am I? How oft am
- 24:10Speaker 1: I gonna talk to him? I'm never gonna see him again.
- 24:12Speaker 1: So I'm just like, hey, what's up the quarterback? And
- 24:14Speaker 1: do you know what he said? Uh? Yeah, who is he? No?
- 24:18Speaker 1: I don't really remember. He's talking about if I'm correct here,
- 24:21Speaker 1: Sam How And he he was like, I like how,
- 24:25Speaker 1: we really like how Sam played last year? Let me
- 24:27Speaker 1: make sure it was Sam before I just started saying
- 24:30Speaker 1: stupid stuff. And so he was like, yeah, he looked
- 24:34Speaker 1: great at and I think it was Sam because Sam
- 24:36Speaker 1: would be the rookie quarterback. Who's I think the string? Yeah,
- 24:38Speaker 1: and so because it was Carson Wentz, then Heineke, then
- 24:42Speaker 1: back to Carson Wentz. Then Sam How played the last
- 24:45Speaker 1: game and against Dallas. Maybe I think Sam How played?
- 24:49Speaker 1: Did the last game? Did you not? I don't think
- 24:51Speaker 1: so let me check it out. But on my phone,
- 24:53Speaker 1: so I don't have my I might be looking up.
- 24:57Speaker 1: So I'm just like, oh, Metts as you he spends
- 25:00Speaker 1: them all so well, we've you know, all season, he
- 25:03Speaker 1: has been girling. He just starts laying it down and
- 25:05Speaker 1: I was record on my phone. We just played it
- 25:07Speaker 1: on this Yeah, I mean he was giving you the
- 25:10Speaker 1: insides of it. This is what I really thought about him,
- 25:12Speaker 1: this is you know what, this is what we planned
- 25:14Speaker 1: to do with him. Like all of this stuff is
- 25:16Speaker 1: like pretty cool man, and I'm not gonna share it all.
- 25:18Speaker 1: But let me tell you. I know, of course not
- 25:19Speaker 1: you do know, I know exactly what's up. Okay. So
- 25:21Speaker 1: if I go to the Commanders and Cowboys box score, okay,
- 25:29Speaker 1: that that that was a wins game and not a
- 25:31Speaker 1: good Wins game. But what what what? Which one was
- 25:34Speaker 1: it that October two? So there was a later game
- 25:37Speaker 1: that there was a Commander Dallas game later in October two.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I think Sam played on that one. I think it
- 25:42Speaker 1: could be the second game. So we're gonna keep going here.
- 25:45Speaker 1: But he was also quite muscular for a guy who's
- 25:49Speaker 1: like sixties. Yeah, big dude, So that was awesome. I
- 25:54Speaker 1: also have just learned I just go up to people now,
- 25:57Speaker 1: but it's okay, yeah, and like he enjoyed talking to you,
- 26:00Speaker 1: I think. And what was funny too. Later and later
- 26:03Speaker 1: in the night, you know, there's some bands came up,
- 26:05Speaker 1: like Darius Rucker was playing or whatever. So I went
- 26:07Speaker 1: up to kind of just to get video and I'm
- 26:09Speaker 1: standing right behind him. I didn't even realize I was
- 26:11Speaker 1: standing right behind him where he was sitting. And he
- 26:13Speaker 1: turns around and he looks at me again. He says,
- 26:15Speaker 1: you're just too close to me. He says, you're too
- 26:17Speaker 1: close to me with that hat background. Okay, Week eighteen,
- 26:21Speaker 1: they played, well we could tain the Cowboys and Commanders.
- 26:25Speaker 1: That wasn't the trash game. So yeah, probably, so let's
- 26:29Speaker 1: see the Dallas Cowboys. I just played for Commanders. Commanders
- 26:35Speaker 1: one mm, yes, off at the spotlight. I still think
- 26:42Speaker 1: that was Heineke. Nope. Sam Hill watched the quarter Yeah,
- 26:45Speaker 1: I'm right, dude. I've done to you twice where I
- 26:46Speaker 1: believed you, but now but I didn't you. Also, I
- 26:48Speaker 1: didn't say on Joe Montana that was stupid. Oh my god.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Watching the quarterback. Sam Hall played in his first and
- 26:54Speaker 1: if il started completing eleven ninete sixty nine a touchdown hit. Yeah,
- 26:59Speaker 1: Sam Hill, Okay, anyway, good, good job, thank you, Eddie.
- 27:02Speaker 1: So all of that to say he was awesome, I'm
- 27:05Speaker 1: gonna market off my list. I'd like to tell you
- 27:08Speaker 1: the story about how I met Alex Smith. Now a
- 27:11Speaker 1: little bit of Alex Smith played football at Utah it
- 27:13Speaker 1: was a really good quarterback over there. I went to
- 27:16Speaker 1: the NFL, played for the Chiefs, had a bad bad
- 27:20Speaker 1: played for more more than just the Chiefs, but had
- 27:22Speaker 1: a bad leg injury injury people. If he'd want much,
- 27:25Speaker 1: lets walk again much less. Play came back. We got
- 27:28Speaker 1: to come back. Was comeback Player of the Year. I
- 27:29Speaker 1: believe real inspirational story could be a Disney movie type
- 27:33Speaker 1: stuff like real bad Injury. Well, I see Ben Rector
- 27:37Speaker 1: and I was gonna go up because I wore compression.
- 27:39Speaker 1: It's really cold up here in the morning and at night,
- 27:42Speaker 1: really cold, and so I wore compressis like under compression
- 27:46Speaker 1: pants under my golf pants. So I went free. That
- 27:48Speaker 1: did a day one, but it was like three layers.
- 27:51Speaker 1: It was underwear, compression pants, and then pants. So my
- 27:54Speaker 1: pants were a little weirdly tightened, and so I was like,
- 27:58Speaker 1: I'm just one of the compression pants I want to wear.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Big mistake because that spot in between my inn and
- 28:04Speaker 1: my bag, it like rubbed it raw and cut it. It
- 28:09Speaker 1: It was bleeding from those compression pants rubbing it back
- 28:12Speaker 1: and forth. Why has he been there talking to somebody
- 28:14Speaker 1: who I think could be Charles Kelly or something somebody tall,
- 28:17Speaker 1: and I walked up and I'm like, dude, I cut
- 28:19Speaker 1: my nuts in the middle of my nuts so bad.
- 28:22Speaker 1: And dude turns his head and it's Alex Smith, the
- 28:24Speaker 1: quarterback for it. And he's like half smiling, like he
- 28:28Speaker 1: don't know if I'm joking or not. And I'm like, oh,
- 28:31Speaker 1: I manna interrupt this. I'm sorry, hey, as a go
- 28:32Speaker 1: man of Bobby is walked off. And so I saw
- 28:35Speaker 1: Alex again today because we were down doing this golf
- 28:38Speaker 1: thing and I said, hey, man, Bobby, I told you
- 28:40Speaker 1: about my nuts yesterday. He goes, he has a really
- 28:42Speaker 1: cool way to say hello, and and I said, well, dude,
- 28:45Speaker 1: sorry about that. He goes, are you kidding? He said?
- 28:47Speaker 1: When you left? I was like, that's an interesting guy.
- 28:51Speaker 1: And so but that's how I met Alex Smith. And
- 28:54Speaker 1: did you talk to him at all today? We talked
- 28:57Speaker 1: a lot today because we were and I'll get to it.
- 28:59Speaker 1: We were in the finals of the that the holding
- 29:03Speaker 1: one closest to the whole championship. So, okay, Alex Smith, Austin,
- 29:07Speaker 1: Jason Bateman. I saw Jason Bateman. No Eddie spot at
- 29:11Speaker 1: him first, and so there's Jason Bateman, sitting right there,
- 29:15Speaker 1: and I was like, yeah, by himself long his like
- 29:18Speaker 1: long hair come out of his had um Jason Bateman.
- 29:22Speaker 1: He goes, yeah, oh wow, that is And if you
- 29:24Speaker 1: had any doubt again, he had the name tag Jason
- 29:26Speaker 1: Bateman whether just in case you don't know who that is.
- 29:30Speaker 1: So I didn't go up to him then because we
- 29:34Speaker 1: were listening to the rules of the event and we
- 29:36Speaker 1: hung around. We're just talking with everybody, and we were
- 29:39Speaker 1: at the very front and he was talking to somebody,
- 29:42Speaker 1: one of the volunteers, and she went to get him something.
- 29:45Speaker 1: I'm just standing there. You're standing there. It was like, heyres,
- 29:47Speaker 1: how's going man? He goes, hey, what's going on? He
- 29:49Speaker 1: doesn't know who I am, But he's also trying to
- 29:50Speaker 1: figure out if he should, like if he's met me
- 29:53Speaker 1: before one of these, because everybody just looks like normal
- 29:54Speaker 1: golfing people were all basically nerd uniforms like golf uniforms. Yes,
- 30:00Speaker 1: all new. Of course, it smells the first day of
- 30:02Speaker 1: school here. We all got a new school clothes. And
- 30:05Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, I'm by ownes. He's like, oh, it's
- 30:08Speaker 1: good to meet you, man, he says, the first time
- 30:09Speaker 1: here and he says, and then it just turns into
- 30:11Speaker 1: I say, Age, you play today and he's like, yeah,
- 30:15Speaker 1: he has, Eddie, how did you? How did you played it?
- 30:16Speaker 1: And we're just sitting there talking about golf as like
- 30:19Speaker 1: normal people that have played golf twenty times together or
- 30:23Speaker 1: have known each other. We in five minutes is a
- 30:25Speaker 1: long time just sitting talk. We probably talked for about
- 30:27Speaker 1: five minutes. And he was so nice. We're talking about anything,
- 30:30Speaker 1: nothing about Oz dark or I even forgot he was
- 30:34Speaker 1: a nos ark. I mean that's the big one that
- 30:37Speaker 1: I think. But yeah, no, it wasn't about what he
- 30:40Speaker 1: does or who he is. It was just normal conversation.
- 30:43Speaker 1: And so he was my My wife loved Jason Bateman
- 30:45Speaker 1: and Will Arnette, who I hadn't met yet, but he
- 30:47Speaker 1: was there too. They're on the smartlest podcast together and
- 30:50Speaker 1: so I will learnet coming later for sure. And so
- 30:53Speaker 1: Jason Bateman and like three or four times now we've
- 30:56Speaker 1: stopped and talked to each other. Oh yeah, we met
- 30:57Speaker 1: him the first time, and then throughout the week, throughout
- 31:00Speaker 1: the week like he just you see him. It's up, dude,
- 31:03Speaker 1: how did you guys play today? Good? Like just normal.
- 31:06Speaker 1: It feels like camp. Yeah, yeah, camp where you're like,
- 31:09Speaker 1: oh I met you the first day, remember, yeah, of course. Yes.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Everybody's just like in a place where they feel comfortable
- 31:14Speaker 1: being everybody, and so folks are just generous. And it's
- 31:20Speaker 1: not like even a Nashville party, like a cmapart where
- 31:23Speaker 1: he was looking over the shoulders se who else is here?
- 31:24Speaker 1: Oh no, it's not like that at all, not not
- 31:27Speaker 1: one bit. And there was one point I was looking
- 31:28Speaker 1: for my wife. I was talking to somebody, and I
- 31:30Speaker 1: was like, I'm not evenna look for her because I
- 31:32Speaker 1: don't want me to think I'm doing that. Jim Nance.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Oh my god, Eddie spotted jim Nance. Edie spots everybody
- 31:39Speaker 1: of course, because I'm the guy looking around and I
- 31:41Speaker 1: can't see. Well, that's true too, and Edie's like this
- 31:43Speaker 1: freaking jim Nance. I'm like, oh my god, do you
- 31:46Speaker 1: know how I spotted jym Nace. I heard him. You
- 31:50Speaker 1: hear him. You hear him talking like he was probably
- 31:54Speaker 1: you know, fifteen yards away from us. But do you
- 31:57Speaker 1: hear him talking like that? He does talk like that.
- 31:59Speaker 1: He it's not a broadcast, it's it's normal conversation. He says,
- 32:04Speaker 1: you know, I woke up this morning and I'm like,
- 32:06Speaker 1: oh my gosh, that's Jim Nance. And the first thing
- 32:08Speaker 1: I thought was, dang, that's a big dude. Yeah. He's
- 32:11Speaker 1: very tall for sure, probably six four or six, which
- 32:14Speaker 1: is crazy because he looks tiny next to Romo, so
- 32:18Speaker 1: that means Romo's humongous. So he's there. I don't know
- 32:22Speaker 1: how to talk to Jim Nance or if he's even
- 32:24Speaker 1: a nice guy. And he's not playing. He's there to
- 32:26Speaker 1: call the event because it's a CBS event, and so
- 32:30Speaker 1: he's talking, I believe, to Charles Kelly or somebody that
- 32:34Speaker 1: I knew. Maybe Charles walked up when we were talking.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Later he's Jim Nance is in a conversation had just
- 32:41Speaker 1: started with somebody that I knew. So I just kind
- 32:43Speaker 1: of slid in. I'm just listening, like nod in my head.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Have you no idea what they're talking about. I'm halfway
- 32:50Speaker 1: through the conversation. It's not Yeah, And so this is
- 32:57Speaker 1: the part that blew me away. I said, Hey, how's
- 33:01Speaker 1: it going on, Bobby. I live in Nashville and he
- 33:03Speaker 1: so does he for the most part, and I was like, Hey,
- 33:06Speaker 1: we're over near dance. Yeah, Jim Jim Nance is like, hey, yeah,
- 33:10Speaker 1: it was over near your house whatever where we live,
- 33:12Speaker 1: and we're looking at some property over there, like land,
- 33:15Speaker 1: and he was like, oh yeah, and so he knew
- 33:19Speaker 1: I didn't was for real because I knew exactly where
- 33:22Speaker 1: he lived and I was looking at a piece of
- 33:24Speaker 1: land really close to where he was. And so but
- 33:28Speaker 1: when you introduced yourself though, he did say, oh, awesome,
- 33:32Speaker 1: your first year playing. This is great, like you already
- 33:33Speaker 1: knew what was up. He did his homeworks are in
- 33:37Speaker 1: a most awesome way. And the events on the weekend.
- 33:40Speaker 1: This was on a Tuesday, like he did his homework
- 33:42Speaker 1: on a Tuesday, and the broadcast was ready to go.
- 33:47Speaker 1: It was awesome, super kind love. Jim Nance watch told
- 33:50Speaker 1: me to hurry up. So I'm not gonna hurry, but
- 33:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna go a little. But there's also a picture
- 33:54Speaker 1: of me and Charles Kelly from Lady A and Jim
- 33:57Speaker 1: Nance talking in like a triangle and I don't know
- 33:59Speaker 1: what I was same with. They're both looking at me.
- 34:01Speaker 1: It's a great picture, dude. It's super cool. Yeah, it's
- 34:03Speaker 1: it's all. It's awesome. Um okay, boom. Jim Nance Paul
- 34:08Speaker 1: of Saul say something about him. Uh there, Oh my god.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I mean, by the way, former Laker, former Laker pas.
- 34:14Speaker 1: But you see him, and I didn't know who he was. Obviously,
- 34:17Speaker 1: I knew he was. I saw somebody really tall, that's
- 34:20Speaker 1: all really, but I didn't know who it was because dude,
- 34:24Speaker 1: like you said, in golf clothes, everyone kind of looks
- 34:26Speaker 1: the same. And I saw his face. I don't know
- 34:28Speaker 1: who that dude is. And then eventually I heard somebody
- 34:31Speaker 1: say like, hey, that's Posol. Oh my gosh, of course
- 34:34Speaker 1: it is dude. He's seven five or however tall. He
- 34:38Speaker 1: is gigantic, But we haven't I haven't talked to him.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I talked to him on the driving range today for
- 34:42Speaker 1: a second and ask him how far something was, and
- 34:44Speaker 1: he was like, in an accent, it was nice, but
- 34:46Speaker 1: I haven't had a really. And also he's so tall.
- 34:50Speaker 1: It's hard to just like casually get into one of
- 34:52Speaker 1: his conversations because it's like your slide in and you're like, hey,
- 34:56Speaker 1: it's like your purpose. He has to be almost too purposeful. Okay,
- 34:59Speaker 1: I moved that one off Ray Romano wildly famous, super funny.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I I guess I met Ray, Did I meet him?
- 35:08Speaker 1: To David the first time. I think, yeah, this is
- 35:09Speaker 1: the first time we've seen him. It wasn't. Yeah, today
- 35:11Speaker 1: was the first time we've been at this all day today.
- 35:13Speaker 1: So and it was and it was early today. Um,
- 35:17Speaker 1: Ray and I were on the same Part three tournament
- 35:20Speaker 1: team and I think we lost, but we saw writ
- 35:23Speaker 1: like forty bucks or whatever, and he was just super
- 35:26Speaker 1: funny and super nice, hilarious and I don't know, warm.
- 35:31Speaker 1: And at one point we were joking. I was like,
- 35:33Speaker 1: I had this on the green. You have to get
- 35:33Speaker 1: a piggyback ride to the neck because I missed the
- 35:35Speaker 1: last green by a little bit, and he was like deal,
- 35:38Speaker 1: and then I didn't, and I'm like, god, damn it.
- 35:39Speaker 1: That would have been great. Ray Romano, everybody's Raymond crazy,
- 35:43Speaker 1: super nice, and he's so good with people, like just
- 35:45Speaker 1: in the middle of the round, who's gonna win the
- 35:47Speaker 1: super Bowl? And just like random question because everybody was
- 35:51Speaker 1: with some Sanrancisco up here. He's giving him crap. Ray
- 35:54Speaker 1: Romano awesome. Will Learnett, who is the voice of bad
- 36:00Speaker 1: Man in the Lego movie, honestly famous for a lot
- 36:03Speaker 1: of The Fox Show. It was funny, damn Jason bademtted
- 36:07Speaker 1: together super funny regardless. Um so I didn't really know Will.
- 36:11Speaker 1: I didn't talk to him as with Jason, but I
- 36:13Speaker 1: go and I play. They have Now we're gonna go
- 36:18Speaker 1: play at a different course today. And I got a
- 36:20Speaker 1: call like five minutes before and like, hey, don't forget.
- 36:21Speaker 1: You're at the celebrity closest to the whole than hold
- 36:24Speaker 1: in one championship. And I was like, oh, craps. So
- 36:27Speaker 1: we jump in a van, real quick fly across five minutes,
- 36:30Speaker 1: We land, We get there, we jump out, time to go,
- 36:33Speaker 1: and Will Ornett's in the first heat. And what you
- 36:36Speaker 1: do is like there's like six or seven people in
- 36:37Speaker 1: each heat, but there are five or six heats. Uh,
- 36:40Speaker 1: there were five groups, so let's say there's thirty people,
- 36:45Speaker 1: so you have to have the six you have to
- 36:46Speaker 1: win yours to get to the finals. And Will on
- 36:49Speaker 1: that's a brigger golfer and funny, but we're down there.
- 36:53Speaker 1: I don't really I'm not getting his way. He wins
- 36:56Speaker 1: his heat and he's sitting in this chair where they
- 36:58Speaker 1: put the winners, and so I, oh, and I hit
- 37:01Speaker 1: and no, pretty good and you get two shots. You
- 37:04Speaker 1: get two shots on the first one. My wife keeps saying,
- 37:07Speaker 1: I guess somebody. I guess he wants he wants to
- 37:10Speaker 1: go to bed, really go to bed, and so whatever,
- 37:13Speaker 1: why I win. I'd beat Aaron Rodgers, I beat all
- 37:16Speaker 1: these people. So you were the closest to the whole
- 37:18Speaker 1: out of your group. Amazing. I mean, Aaron Rodder's something
- 37:21Speaker 1: and even you know why, you know why because I
- 37:23Speaker 1: got the vaccine, okay, but even even Jim Nance is
- 37:27Speaker 1: like Bobby Bones is the every dude. It's just amazing,
- 37:31Speaker 1: Like it's like you were playing It's like you're playing
- 37:33Speaker 1: the mass and there were there was there was hundreds
- 37:36Speaker 1: of people standing around and I'd already hit some girl
- 37:38Speaker 1: in the face of the ball earlier, which is on
- 37:39Speaker 1: my Instagram Holdinger story will learn it. And I did
- 37:42Speaker 1: an interview together for CBS with Amanda Balionis. Yes, and
- 37:47Speaker 1: we're just like he jumped in. It was funny, and
- 37:51Speaker 1: I was like, I'm just trying to be funny back
- 37:52Speaker 1: for We just go back and forth, back and forth.
- 37:53Speaker 1: It was awesome. I couldn't hear what the interview, what
- 37:55Speaker 1: you guys are saying, but whatever you were saying, he
- 37:57Speaker 1: was laughing at and then but he was just so
- 37:59Speaker 1: quick and right back at me. I was like, oh god,
- 38:01Speaker 1: I gotta keep up. Here's awesome. I'm gonna give you
- 38:04Speaker 1: two more real quick um Steve Young on the Pudding
- 38:09Speaker 1: Green this is great and maybe no Eddie songs as usual,
- 38:14Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh my god, I was more starstruck
- 38:16Speaker 1: maybe than anybody. That's usually what happens to us. And
- 38:18Speaker 1: so then I just kind of walk over, slide and
- 38:21Speaker 1: slide in the group. He's already talking to someone, you know,
- 38:25Speaker 1: I'm just like just hate and so I say, hey,
- 38:29Speaker 1: Mr Young, I'm Bobby, a huge fan, and he goes
- 38:33Speaker 1: he said, I'm Bobby Bones Bones. Okay, I'm Bobby Bones
- 38:37Speaker 1: and he said I listen to you every morning. I'm like,
- 38:42Speaker 1: shut up, shut up, and then he starts like quoting bits.
- 38:45Speaker 1: He's like, dude, the other day, you guys are talking
- 38:47Speaker 1: about whatever. Steve Young, Steve Steve freaking Young. And I'm like, okay,
- 38:52Speaker 1: we talked for a little bit, super nice. I kept
- 38:54Speaker 1: talking to him all day. The other story. We can
- 38:55Speaker 1: do some sets of stuff later. But before we left,
- 38:58Speaker 1: he looked at me goes, hey, do you mind if
- 38:59Speaker 1: I can a picture with you? And I told him,
- 39:02Speaker 1: I said his ashouldn't coming out was the trucker hat
- 39:04Speaker 1: on bringing back crazy because he lives near San Francisco
- 39:10Speaker 1: and we're on over there. Takes his daughter in school,
- 39:11Speaker 1: he says, and that's what they bought on. He's like,
- 39:13Speaker 1: listen O show. Um. So the final thing is I
- 39:17Speaker 1: have to leave now. I can't plan the tournament because
- 39:19Speaker 1: I have to go to the Grammys, which you may
- 39:20Speaker 1: have seen now and I'm covering the host in the
- 39:23Speaker 1: red carpet and pre show on E and other CBS,
- 39:27Speaker 1: R NBC properties, which is awesome. Yes, but I'm very
- 39:30Speaker 1: have a lot of fomo because has been amazing. A
- 39:32Speaker 1: T T A t T prom You should come by
- 39:34Speaker 1: tickets next year, go to the events. Um. We got
- 39:36Speaker 1: to the finals the whole of one challenge and I
- 39:39Speaker 1: finished third. You didn't know there was only gonna be
- 39:42Speaker 1: one shot and he got down to the finals, he
- 39:44Speaker 1: had one shot, one shot. I finished. I hit on
- 39:46Speaker 1: the green again, um and finished third. And it's pretty
- 39:50Speaker 1: proud of that dude. Michael Payne one. He's a good golfer.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I didn't realize three handicap a really good golfer. So
- 39:57Speaker 1: but we have to go because that's it. Somebody needs
- 39:59Speaker 1: to room. Ye. Twenty five whistles over Eddie, thank you

- 40:55Speaker 1: to Mike d Back here in the twenty five Whistles studio,
- 40:58Speaker 1: we're about to get into our interview with Coleman Crawley.
- 41:00Speaker 1: He's a college basketball handicapper and mid a major basketball
- 41:04Speaker 1: reporter who just quit his job. He's traveling around the
- 41:06Speaker 1: country going to all these mid major games leading up
- 41:09Speaker 1: to March Madness. Bobby found him super interesting so wanted
- 41:12Speaker 1: to get him on the podcast. He wanted to talk
- 41:14Speaker 1: to him about this science project he had when he
- 41:16Speaker 1: was fourteen years old on sports betting that was deemed unethical.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Coleman also made the news after he chased down Big
- 41:22Speaker 1: Cat from bar Stool outside of their headquarters to try
- 41:25Speaker 1: and get his first break into the industry. And you
- 41:28Speaker 1: can follow him on Twitter and TikTok at sharp Shots Select.
- 41:32Speaker 1: Here's our interview with Coleman Crawley. Coleman, how are you,
- 41:35Speaker 1: Buddy Gray? How are you good? To talk to you? Eddie.
- 41:38Speaker 1: I'm glad that you can meet Coleman. I've never met Coleman,
- 41:41Speaker 1: but and this is my friend, Eddie Coleman, my best friend.
- 41:44Speaker 1: We do the show together. I think Eddie's also going
- 41:46Speaker 1: to be super intrigued by you because I am. But
- 41:49Speaker 1: uh Coleman, I didn't want to start with this before
- 41:51Speaker 1: we talk about what you're doing. Now, will you talk
- 41:53Speaker 1: about what happened to you when you were fourteen years
- 41:55Speaker 1: old and you had to come up with a science
- 41:56Speaker 1: fair project. Yes, so I was in sixth grade. I
- 41:59Speaker 1: think I may back sleep in twelve UM, and I
- 42:01Speaker 1: had to come up with the science fair project. I
- 42:03Speaker 1: gotta be honest, it was actually my dad's idea, UM,
- 42:06Speaker 1: but I was the one who executed everything. So I
- 42:09Speaker 1: decided from my science fair project to see if I
- 42:11Speaker 1: could find trends within data to beat Vegas UM. So
- 42:16Speaker 1: for the first ten weeks of the college football in
- 42:18Speaker 1: the NFL season, I studied all thirty two NFL teams
- 42:21Speaker 1: in the preseason top twenty five in college football. From
- 42:24Speaker 1: those fifty seven teams, I took the ten biggest outliers
- 42:28Speaker 1: and placed fake bets on them over the course of
- 42:30Speaker 1: the next three weeks, and I went seventeen and six.
- 42:33Speaker 1: So obviously I got a very good grade on my
- 42:35Speaker 1: science fair project. When I went on to the regional UM,
- 42:39Speaker 1: they gave me third place Top two. Moved on to State.
- 42:42Speaker 1: They then spoke to me afterwards and said I would
- 42:44Speaker 1: have been the clear winner, but they felt it was
- 42:46Speaker 1: unethical to move the project on. This was two thousand
- 42:49Speaker 1: and eight, so at different times, so it's fair projects
- 42:53Speaker 1: on sports betting. So but your dad also, I'm maybe
- 43:00Speaker 1: he was a bit progressive and understood that gambling is
- 43:03Speaker 1: not only for degenerates. It's actually entertainment and if you're
- 43:06Speaker 1: good at it, you could actually do something with it. Yeah.
- 43:10Speaker 1: I mean, I think he just saw that I had
- 43:12Speaker 1: to love for math numbers being competitive, and thought he'd
- 43:15Speaker 1: put those two together. I don't think he saw a
- 43:18Speaker 1: son that, um, I guess was so competitive it would
- 43:22Speaker 1: it would develop into a habit. But um, that's definitely
- 43:25Speaker 1: what happened. He's not much of a gambler, didn't probably
- 43:28Speaker 1: think I would be, but ended up becoming one from it.
- 43:30Speaker 1: It's just funny he fought the spread at twelve years old. Yeah, Like,
- 43:34Speaker 1: that's the one of the funniest things I've heard forever.
- 43:36Speaker 1: I went over to Coleman's Twitter page and I was
- 43:39Speaker 1: just kind of scroll and watching some of the stuff
- 43:40Speaker 1: because what he's doing right now is very interesting. And
- 43:42Speaker 1: when I saw a Science Fair project tweet, I laughed
- 43:45Speaker 1: out loud. This is a kid standing with like a
- 43:47Speaker 1: you know, the three prong how it's like the middle
- 43:49Speaker 1: and it's like open, like a cardboard thing, and it's
- 43:51Speaker 1: him standing there next to it. See the picture. Yes,
- 43:54Speaker 1: that's definitely a school project twelve. It's sports, but that's awesome. So, Coleman,
- 44:00Speaker 1: you've always been a massive basketball guy or has it
- 44:02Speaker 1: been all sports all the time? No, definitely basketball has
- 44:05Speaker 1: been my main focus growing up. My dad was a
- 44:07Speaker 1: high school basketball coach, so that certainly pulled me to basketball.
- 44:11Speaker 1: But I love all sports for sure. So here's how
- 44:13Speaker 1: I got to know who Coleman was. I was sitting
- 44:16Speaker 1: at Caitlin's parents house. We were in Fort Gibson and
- 44:19Speaker 1: we were watching a Fort Gibson High school basketball game
- 44:23Speaker 1: because that's what her dad likes to do. And so
- 44:25Speaker 1: we were watching it, and what's your brother's first name, Coleman? Cooper.
- 44:29Speaker 1: So Cooper is out and they're playing like the number
- 44:32Speaker 1: five team in the conference. It's like number five whomever
- 44:34Speaker 1: Fort Gibson, who big underdogs, and Cooper just is knocking
- 44:38Speaker 1: them down. It's like three point three pointer. And Cooper
- 44:42Speaker 1: doesn't look like this crazy athlete. He just He's like
- 44:46Speaker 1: a normal guy, but all of a sudden, Cooper like
- 44:49Speaker 1: takes over the game with a shooting and I'm like, God, damn,
- 44:51Speaker 1: look at this guy. I think it was brother. Coleman
- 44:54Speaker 1: is and does sports and sports betting, and he's driving
- 44:58Speaker 1: around every mid major watching every team, so he knows
- 45:01Speaker 1: whenever it's not from March Madness, who you should bet on.
- 45:04Speaker 1: And I was like, tell me more. So I learned
- 45:06Speaker 1: the whole thing, and I messaged Coleman and I was like, Bro,
- 45:08Speaker 1: you gotta tell me about this. So tell all of
- 45:10Speaker 1: our listeners. Now, what are you in the process of doing.
- 45:13Speaker 1: When I talk about you're traveling around? What exactly where
- 45:15Speaker 1: are you traveling and why? So the goal of what
- 45:18Speaker 1: I'm doing is basically trying to find Cinderella before she's
- 45:21Speaker 1: at the ball. So what started me on this journey
- 45:24Speaker 1: was I didn't believe the small and mid majors were
- 45:26Speaker 1: getting enough coverage. You know, they make these runs. You
- 45:29Speaker 1: look at St. Peter's makes the under the elite eight
- 45:31Speaker 1: last year. In late March, um I looked up the
- 45:34Speaker 1: average attendance of h D one school. St. Peter's average
- 45:37Speaker 1: five six people at their home games, Syracuse in the
- 45:40Speaker 1: same state average seventeen thousand in the Carrier down They
- 45:43Speaker 1: didn't even make the nc A tournament. So we have
- 45:45Speaker 1: a high level of basketball being played that I believe
- 45:48Speaker 1: is not getting enough recognition, And so I knew due
- 45:51Speaker 1: to these low attendance numbers. Man, I can get right
- 45:54Speaker 1: behind the bench or right behind the goal, something like
- 45:56Speaker 1: that and get great footage of a really high level
- 45:59Speaker 1: of basketball being played and hopefully shed more light on
- 46:02Speaker 1: it beyond these teams in January and February before they
- 46:05Speaker 1: make the run in March. It's rare that someone does
- 46:08Speaker 1: something original in a place where there almost is no originality.
- 46:12Speaker 1: And that's to me, like he found a niche that
- 46:14Speaker 1: wasn't being focused on. And aside from just being interested,
- 46:18Speaker 1: I was like, it's brilliant. This kid's way smarter than
- 46:19Speaker 1: I am. And you're a kid. You're like what eleven? Now, like,
- 46:22Speaker 1: how are you? Yeah? I'm he's married though, too, right,
- 46:27Speaker 1: You're married? Yes, I am married. And I asked that question.
- 46:30Speaker 1: My wife would never let me drive to every game.
- 46:33Speaker 1: What does she say about this? So? Um, she's actually
- 46:37Speaker 1: in social media. Um. So she does social media marketing
- 46:41Speaker 1: for several companies, and when I originally told her idea,
- 46:44Speaker 1: she was like, man, this is just so original. And
- 46:47Speaker 1: she's known about my passion in college basketball for obviously
- 46:50Speaker 1: the last several years. UM. She thought this was something
- 46:53Speaker 1: that I couldn't not do. So she is, without a doubt,
- 46:57Speaker 1: my rock gives me just the most irrational confidence to
- 47:00Speaker 1: do something crazy like this. Um. But she's come out
- 47:03Speaker 1: with me on the road for four games three days already,
- 47:06Speaker 1: and then I actually had to come home to quit
- 47:08Speaker 1: my job to pursue this full time. So I took
- 47:11Speaker 1: a day off yesterday. I had been to games for
- 47:13Speaker 1: twenty seven straight days and she'll hit the road with
- 47:15Speaker 1: me for another week. So definitely will be great to
- 47:17Speaker 1: spend time with her, but incredible to have her support.
- 47:20Speaker 1: I couldn't do it without it. If your dad was
- 47:22Speaker 1: a basketball coach. And I'm gonna be very intrusive here,
- 47:25Speaker 1: how do you have money to even do this? Because
- 47:27Speaker 1: it's not like you're you're coming from uh generations of wealth? No? No,
- 47:32Speaker 1: definitely not. My parents both public school educators, UM. So
- 47:35Speaker 1: I worked in sales and UM for I was employee
- 47:39Speaker 1: benefits consold and working in sales and so I kind
- 47:42Speaker 1: of had this idea in my head. I developed it
- 47:44Speaker 1: back in the summer and thought, Okay, I'm gonna work
- 47:47Speaker 1: my butt off, try to get a decent amount of commission,
- 47:50Speaker 1: you know, get paid commission at the end of the year,
- 47:52Speaker 1: and then use that commission to then kick start these
- 47:55Speaker 1: next two months, and hopefully I strike up enough engagement
- 47:59Speaker 1: enough eyeball that someone sees that, man, I could use
- 48:02Speaker 1: this guy full time with his grind, his knowledge of
- 48:04Speaker 1: the game, things like that, what to you and this
- 48:07Speaker 1: would be funny because this is how it would happen,
- 48:10Speaker 1: you say, full time, Like what what do you feel
- 48:12Speaker 1: like would be good pay if someone were to hire you?
- 48:16Speaker 1: I mean, shoot, I don't know, like to do this
- 48:20Speaker 1: full time? I mean sixt k. Okay, So if I
- 48:22Speaker 1: once said Coleman, I got six d K, I need
- 48:26Speaker 1: you to travel to these games. It doesn't have to
- 48:29Speaker 1: be mid major. It can because that's a big part
- 48:30Speaker 1: of what you do, and I need you to do
- 48:32Speaker 1: a podcast based on it. You would go, I'm in yes, yeah,
- 48:37Speaker 1: especially at six K if I got expenses covered. If not,
- 48:41Speaker 1: it would maybe need to be a little bit more.
- 48:43Speaker 1: But I mean, even if this is something that I'm
- 48:45Speaker 1: doing for the months of college basketball season and then
- 48:49Speaker 1: I've got another job when it's not college basketball season.
- 48:51Speaker 1: I mean, I have loved this so much that I
- 48:55Speaker 1: want this to be a part of what I do
- 48:57Speaker 1: in my life. He's so legit. Yeah, just and he
- 49:00Speaker 1: loves it, like you could tell he loves what he's doing.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Like this is so inspiring. And thank you, Bobby to
- 49:06Speaker 1: give your in laws a shout out to be honest
- 49:08Speaker 1: a person that gave me the confidence to to do this.
- 49:11Speaker 1: With Tyler Parker, UM, I gave him a call about
- 49:14Speaker 1: two years ago. I was like, hey, man, I made this.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Uh so kind of took back to what kicks started
- 49:20Speaker 1: this whole thing when covid hit. I decided I'd done
- 49:24Speaker 1: all this work to um try to be a bracketologist
- 49:27Speaker 1: like Joe Lunardi basically predict what sixty eight teams will
- 49:29Speaker 1: be in the field. Well, when we don't get an
- 49:32Speaker 1: n c A tournament, I was like, man, I've just
- 49:33Speaker 1: done all this for nothing. I've got to put some
- 49:35Speaker 1: use to it. So I made a fake selection show,
- 49:38Speaker 1: put it out on YouTube, and then went through my
- 49:41Speaker 1: fake sixty eight teams who would have won had we
- 49:44Speaker 1: had a tournament, COVID not canceled it. So I had
- 49:46Speaker 1: enough people reaching out saying that, man, you've got a
- 49:48Speaker 1: talent in this, you should pursue this. That I called
- 49:51Speaker 1: Tyler and I just wanted to hear Tyler's story of
- 49:53Speaker 1: his come up working for the Ringer and things like that. Um.
- 49:56Speaker 1: And he basically gave me the confidence to be like, yeah, dude,
- 49:58Speaker 1: just because you're from Fort Gibson, you can do it.
- 50:00Speaker 1: You've got a passion for it, your knowledgeable, Just be
- 50:03Speaker 1: who you are and you'll find a way. Um. And
- 50:06Speaker 1: so he was definitely an inspiration and initially kick starting this.
- 50:10Speaker 1: So he's traveling around. Are you just in a car?
- 50:13Speaker 1: I mean you're just see in the car going Yes,
- 50:15Speaker 1: My Honda Accord has been very faithful to me. And
- 50:19Speaker 1: you did you did twenty seven days straight where you
- 50:22Speaker 1: didn't come home? Correct what I mean? We tour and
- 50:28Speaker 1: but we like we have a bus or a plane,
- 50:30Speaker 1: you know, and that's like five days. Yeah, this is
- 50:32Speaker 1: hard living and we're like, I'm so tired twenty seven
- 50:37Speaker 1: days and like Ramadas, you have a bunch of points
- 50:40Speaker 1: now for like yeah, I've been using uh no free ads,
- 50:44Speaker 1: I guess. But hotels dot com and so I get
- 50:46Speaker 1: a couple of stamps for every time I stay somewhere
- 50:48Speaker 1: and then eventually, after tin stamps, get a free one.
- 50:51Speaker 1: So that's kind of my point system. Do you notice
- 50:54Speaker 1: that some of these mid majors and is this your
- 50:56Speaker 1: first year to do this, but yes, do you feel
- 50:58Speaker 1: like some of the portal guys that come from bigger
- 51:02Speaker 1: schools and they will drop down to a mid major
- 51:06Speaker 1: actually makes the mid majors more competitive, especially going into
- 51:11Speaker 1: a season like now, because of some of the guys
- 51:12Speaker 1: who maybe did not get a good shot or they
- 51:15Speaker 1: learned that they did not take full advantage of their
- 51:17Speaker 1: opportunity at a bigger school. Absolutely. I I think there's
- 51:21Speaker 1: a misconception that the portal is hurting the small and
- 51:25Speaker 1: mid majors. Now for those mediocre or below average small
- 51:29Speaker 1: and mid majors, that they had one particular player average
- 51:32Speaker 1: twenty points a game and he decides, you know what,
- 51:34Speaker 1: this team isn't good enough. I'm going to a power six.
- 51:37Speaker 1: It's hurting those guys the bottom of the mid mayor
- 51:40Speaker 1: of mid and small major. But up at the top,
- 51:42Speaker 1: if you look at you know, some of the schools
- 51:45Speaker 1: that for example, have gotten to keep all their players.
- 51:47Speaker 1: No one's transferred that experience, that continuity of playing together
- 51:52Speaker 1: is such a huge advantage, and I think that's why
- 51:55Speaker 1: we're seeing more upsets even now than in the past,
- 51:59Speaker 1: and I think we'll continue you to see more. And
- 52:00Speaker 1: then to your point, you take an Iona for example,
- 52:03Speaker 1: it's got Rick Pattino that's able to bring in these
- 52:06Speaker 1: Power six guys that maybe didn't love their previous destination
- 52:09Speaker 1: that hey, let's dominate this small conference get to the
- 52:12Speaker 1: n c A tournament. UM, I definitely think there's been
- 52:16Speaker 1: an advantage for the top of mid major with the
- 52:20Speaker 1: transfer portal. We're gonna pause the interview for one second,
- 52:22Speaker 1: and now the stage is set. We're counting down to
- 52:24Speaker 1: the battle in Arizona. No better way to get ready

- 53:17Speaker 1: Which school have you gone to that you go down?
- 53:21Speaker 1: There's some real passion here and maybe not be in
- 53:23Speaker 1: the numbers, but just in the overall effort of the
- 53:26Speaker 1: student body or the town You're you're impressed by. Um.
- 53:30Speaker 1: East Tennessee State was really neat, So I went there.
- 53:34Speaker 1: They're actually having a down year. They're they're one of
- 53:36Speaker 1: the programs that were most impacted by COVID. They had
- 53:39Speaker 1: a thirty win season in We're going to get a
- 53:42Speaker 1: great seed and then see a tournament and then didn't
- 53:44Speaker 1: get to play that tournament. They're having a down year
- 53:46Speaker 1: this year. Um, but I gotta meet with their student section.
- 53:50Speaker 1: They've got a group called party Bucks and a group
- 53:53Speaker 1: called buck Wild. I think that it's basically trying to
- 53:56Speaker 1: increase student engagement. It's based around mental health awareness and
- 54:00Speaker 1: you mattering, having a place for someone to go um
- 54:03Speaker 1: and have a good time spending time with their fellow classmates.
- 54:07Speaker 1: So that was really neat to me to see an
- 54:09Speaker 1: organization like that, people going out supporting their athletic team classmates. UM.
- 54:14Speaker 1: And I hope things like that are being started at
- 54:18Speaker 1: other programs. That was a college that I was like, Man,
- 54:20Speaker 1: you guys are having a down year this year, but
- 54:22Speaker 1: you're still coming out and supporting this way. That was
- 54:24Speaker 1: very cool. Who is it that you've seen? And you go, dang,
- 54:28Speaker 1: if they were in the Big ten, Big twelve SEC,
- 54:29Speaker 1: they'd actually be just competing right now as is May
- 54:34Speaker 1: and that that's a tough question. I would maybe say Marshall.
- 54:38Speaker 1: So they've got a guy in taving On Kinsey that's
- 54:40Speaker 1: absolutely going to be a pro. He can shoot the
- 54:42Speaker 1: ball from the perimeter, but is ridiculously athletic as well.
- 54:46Speaker 1: D'Antoni is their coach. The D'Antoni is absolutely no offense.
- 54:50Speaker 1: They put up eighty nine points in the game that
- 54:52Speaker 1: I watched, um because of their scoring ability and ability
- 54:57Speaker 1: to get hot from the perimeter, and then they've also
- 54:59Speaker 1: got athleticism as well in size. I don't think anyone's
- 55:02Speaker 1: wanting to see them in see a tournament or would
- 55:04Speaker 1: even want them in their conference. Like you asked in
- 55:06Speaker 1: the Big Tent. I mean, the guy knows. I don't
- 55:09Speaker 1: even I never heard some of these schools. He's like
- 55:11Speaker 1: the third string guard coaches. Uncle, he played you played
- 55:16Speaker 1: ball back in the day. How do you feel about
- 55:20Speaker 1: because I know what I heard about you playing ball,
- 55:21Speaker 1: But how how would you define your basketball playing career? Um?
- 55:25Speaker 1: I was a shooter and that was about it. Um.
- 55:29Speaker 1: So Yeah, if if anyone needs a twenty six year
- 55:32Speaker 1: old that's a complete defensive liability but could spread the
- 55:36Speaker 1: floor a little bit on offense, then uh, I'd love
- 55:39Speaker 1: to keep playing some college ball. Yeah. I heard you
- 55:41Speaker 1: could shoot the shoot the eyes out of cat like
- 55:43Speaker 1: he was that kind of shooter. That's it's a pretty
- 55:46Speaker 1: good compliment from the Parker family over there. Well, listen, man,
- 55:49Speaker 1: I'm rooting for you. If you guys want to follow
- 55:50Speaker 1: him on Twitter? Sharp shot Select? Wait? How what? Sharp? What? Why? That? What?
- 55:57Speaker 1: What the heck is even that? I just like literay
- 56:00Speaker 1: and I don't know. Maybe it's my name Coleman Crawley.
- 56:02Speaker 1: I just thought, um, all right, if I and originally
- 56:05Speaker 1: when I made that Twitter, it was supposed to be
- 56:06Speaker 1: for gambling picks, so sharp shot Select I thought was catching.
- 56:10Speaker 1: What did your job say when you're like yo, p's uh,
- 56:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna go drive watch Southern Rhode Island Cousin University. Yeah.
- 56:19Speaker 1: My boss is an incredible man. He's been an incredible mentor.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Mark Christen is his name, And I knew I could
- 56:25Speaker 1: just be transparent with him because he's always been nothing
- 56:27Speaker 1: but transparent and honest with me. He was baffled, taken
- 56:31Speaker 1: aback that I wanted to do this, but he's always known,
- 56:34Speaker 1: um that I've been very passionate about sports, basketball, in
- 56:37Speaker 1: particular college basketball. So as much as it stunned him,
- 56:42Speaker 1: he saw kind of the passion in my voice, in
- 56:44Speaker 1: my eyes, and um, he he allowed me to take
- 56:48Speaker 1: a couple of vacation weeks to pursue it and see
- 56:50Speaker 1: if it was having success. So I really appreciated that.
- 56:54Speaker 1: And then if I saw it having enough success that
- 56:56Speaker 1: I had to let him know, Hey, I'm hey, I'm quitting.
- 56:58Speaker 1: So he was upset to lose me, but I was
- 57:01Speaker 1: so grateful for his mentorship and allowing me to pursue
- 57:04Speaker 1: it um while keeping my job originally inspiring. Yeah, you
- 57:08Speaker 1: can ask me a question, hey, Coleman, So how many
- 57:12Speaker 1: how many UM pools have you on? Like, how many
- 57:14Speaker 1: March Madness pools have you won in your lifetime? See
- 57:19Speaker 1: that's the thing. I feel like I'm not great in
- 57:21Speaker 1: March Madness, and I feel like anyone could be great
- 57:24Speaker 1: and much madness. You know, you hear those stories of
- 57:26Speaker 1: um oh, someone's cousin one because they picked the teams
- 57:30Speaker 1: based on color or whatever. So on occasion, I'll have
- 57:33Speaker 1: a great year. But March Madness is just so unpredictable,
- 57:37Speaker 1: and I feel like that's why we love it so much.
- 57:39Speaker 1: You never know what's going to happen. So I haven't
- 57:41Speaker 1: won Mini Eddie all right. If he would have said
- 57:45Speaker 1: I want to see. It's always like Eddie's aunts Maleman
- 57:51Speaker 1: away my son wanted last year. I don't know what
- 57:54Speaker 1: he's doing. And also to like, are you a one
- 57:56Speaker 1: bracket guy or you do multiple brackets? No, I'm a
- 58:00Speaker 1: one bracket guy. To be honest, I feel like it's
- 58:03Speaker 1: shameful to do more than one. It's like, well, my
- 58:06Speaker 1: my be bracket. Yes exactly. It's like having a fantasy
- 58:11Speaker 1: football team, but you draft all the different players. Nobody cares.
- 58:14Speaker 1: I want to hear one of them is gonna work out. Yes,
- 58:16Speaker 1: And if I do get in more than one bracket,
- 58:18Speaker 1: I do the same exact bracket once, keep up with it.
- 58:21Speaker 1: And two because I'm not a chump. Basically, Yeah, guys
- 58:25Speaker 1: are passionate about this one. All right, all right, Coleman Crawley,
- 58:28Speaker 1: you guys go on Twitter, sharp shot, select on Instagram.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Coleman thirteen Crawley. That's your basketball number? Yeah, that family number? Okay,
- 58:40Speaker 1: family number. Uh. Look, well, we'd love to talk to
- 58:43Speaker 1: you again as basketball gets closer and closer to March.
- 58:46Speaker 1: Just man, keep grinding. That's it. A lot of people
- 58:50Speaker 1: were talent, but it's how they use it. And there's
- 58:52Speaker 1: a lot of people without a whole lot of talent
- 58:54Speaker 1: that use it in such a way that they're just undeniable.
- 58:58Speaker 1: And you're very talented, very smart guy, but just grind.
- 59:02Speaker 1: I like I know, right now we're talking to a guy.
- 59:04Speaker 1: He's gonna he's gonna be five years now, he's gonna
- 59:06Speaker 1: be running the thing. This is awesome, alright, Coleman. Good
- 59:09Speaker 1: to talk to you, and hopefully we'll talk to you
- 59:10Speaker 1: against somebody. Thank you so much, Bobby for this opportunity.
- 59:13Speaker 1: I greatly appreciate it. All right, Colman, see you, man,
