Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to The Offices, a show covering the mighty Gulf, the NFL, pop culture, drinking culture and of course, the show is now near your host, out for T.A.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_03]: in myself.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: And we're on this is the The Offices with myself, a married brave, a married
- 0:30[SPEAKER_03]: including we're going to talk about it.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_03]: You're trade, yes.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_03]: a little bummed.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: Little bummed, I'm not gonna lie about it.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not gonna sit here and tell you, I'm super stoked about it.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_03]: We're talking obviously, we're talking about the J.L.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_03]: Model trade.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_03]: From the Miami Dolphins to the Denver Broncos.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_03]: Now, John Erick Sullivan got himself a haul.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_03]: He really did.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_03]: They traded Wattel in a fourth for a first, a third and a fourth, right?
- 0:54[SPEAKER_03]: It gives him 11 picks in the draft.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_03]: As we stand, right now.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: Seven in the top 100.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_03]: Seven out of a hundred and there could be more there could be more right we could see more Marky names leaving the Miami dolphins although Adam Shepter came out today and said the dolphins are turning down any trade offers for Devon HN which makes me wonder if that's code for we're not receiving the high priced offers that we would need to receive in order to actually move on from HN hope they don't move on from HN but I hope they wouldn't move on from water either I get it
- 1:31[SPEAKER_03]: I absolutely get it right when the trade first happened.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_03]: I said no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no under no circumstances.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_03]: I don't I don't care what the return is.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to trade jail in the water.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a big fan of water.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_03]: My children love jail in the water.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_03]: My 10 year old son, his favorite player is jail in the water.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_03]: This is kind of like his first heartbroken experience as a as a sports fan, seeing his favorite player.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_03]: Leave the team.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: So I was a little bummed about it and it sucks because
- 2:01[SPEAKER_03]: I think we talked about it last week of the week prior that, hey, the dolphins after signing Malik Willis, they might not be as bad as some people predicted they would be this year.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously with two a tongue of a loa gone and you were kind of staring quiny, quiny yours in the face as the starter of this team wasn't on a hope regarding their 2026 outlook.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_03]: But then they sign Malik Willis and you're looking at the offense, you go Willis and Waddle and HN and you got a couple of pieces on that offensive line with Patrick Paul and Aurem Brewer and if Austin Jackson can stay healthy and maybe we draft a couple of guards, I don't know, could be a sneaky good offense.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_03]: And then they go and they do what they did yesterday.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_03]: They get rid of Jalen Waddle.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: There's no legitimate pass catchers on the team outside of HN who's running back.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_03]: And those hopes got dashed again.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, it's March 18th.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_03]: There's still plenty of time before the season kicks off.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_03]: We got an entire draft to get through the dolphins can add wide receivers in a good wide receiver draft, mind you.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_03]: They could trade for a wide receiver.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_03]: There's some big names on the market.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_03]: There's time to fix that unit.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_03]: I get why they made the deal with Jalen Waddle, you know, he's, it's a couple of years before the Dolphins feel like they're going to be competing again, relevant again.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_03]: By that point, Jalen Waddle stayed him near 30 years old.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_03]: He's expensive.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_03]: He's been banged up, uh, injury wise to last few seasons.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_03]: He's only gone over 1100 yards receiving a single season in this five-year career.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_03]: And he's been under a thousand yards over the last two seasons.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_03]: So to get a first, a third,
- 3:44[SPEAKER_03]: I see why I sell me the move.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_03]: I do.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_03]: I absolutely do, but it bumps me out, man.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_03]: It bumps me out to know that this isn't that that reset that we were talking about.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_03]: This isn't just a quick little rebuild here.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_03]: It feels like a full on rebuild.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_03]: It feels like a full on tear down to the screws and build it back up from there.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_03]: And you got a few guys.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_03]: on the roster that I feel could be on the trade blocks, Axe Seeler, Jordan Brooks, HN, you know, even though they're saying they're not gonna trade HN.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_03]: If somebody comes and offers a first in a second round pick, he's gone, he's out the door, you better believe it.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_03]: So, I don't know, how do you feel about the, the, the water trade elf?
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that it was always there was always the possibility like if they could get their asking price that it was going to happen.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: If you remember John Erick Sullivan did an interview with Travis Wingfield where he named checked four players and then the players that he named were Devon HN, which is I guess that's good for HN.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Brooks, good for Brooks, Iran Brewer, and Patrick Paul.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't mention jail in the water, you know.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: So that's pretty much all you needed to know.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think he had it in his head the whole time that, like this is something we're going to do if we can just get our price in.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: Man, it's a haul, like I wanted to keep water, but as soon as I saw what he got for him,
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, yeah, this is something you got to do, and look, Tankathon had a thing where the Miami Dolphins went from the 26th most draft capital to second.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: And one move.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: So now that they only trail the jets in draft capital,
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: in the entire NFL.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, if you're going to rebuild the team like you need draft picks and that's what they have and I don't think that they They weaken themselves considerably, you know, like if they just sit around and do nothing at the wide receiver position.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: Then of course, yeah, of course, they they weaken themselves considerably with this right, but they got seven picks in the top 100.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to do some things to try to make this while receiver core a lot better.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not as, you know, hopeless as others are on this.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: Now, am I talking about playoffs or anything like that?
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: No, you know, are they gonna make a run at 500?
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: Probably not.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna be in that six win range, maybe.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to be good.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that they're still right on schedule for 2027 to be a season where they're going to be interesting.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be maybe play off good in 2027.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_01]: That as of right now, they have $107 million in cap space coming to them in 2027.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_03]: on a cap space out, but who do you think they're going to spend it on if they do end up trading a Jordan Brooks or a neighbor or a Devon H and like it's not the Green Bay way to spend big and free agency.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_03]: Very very few times have the Packers done that over the last 20 years, you know.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think
- 7:03[SPEAKER_03]: So Lee, you know, he wasn't the guy in charge in Green Bay.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_03]: He was under the guy who was in charge, you know, he was the assistant.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_03]: So to speak, do you think maybe he would differ in philosophies where he would go out and spend big bucks on a few free agents to to bring to the dolphins to round out the team.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: Well, first of all, you already mentioned some of the guys that he is going to spend some money, some of that money on, namely Jordan Brooks, Aaron Brewer, Devon H and like, you know, extending those guys is going to cut a little bit into that money, not too much, but it's going to cut a little bit into that money, so let's say that you're going to clear somewhere around $70 million in catch base for to play with in 2027, obviously you want to roll some of that over.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: for another offseason.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: You want to keep your cap situation healthy.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: But you're not going to roll over thirty forty million dollars.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: You're talking about rolling over maybe ten to fifteen is what you're going to leave unused after you pay all of your your draft picks and you have your emergency fund for the for the season.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: So you're talking about spending somewhere on forty to
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: I understand that it's not the Green Bay way, but it's also not the Green Bay way to be non-cap compliant.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: All right, you gotta spend the money on something.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's why, I get, I get, I got a kick out of, you know, dolphin fans that are like, oh, no, no, don't pay anybody.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: And like you understand, you eventually have to pay somebody.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: You're currently paying nobody.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, as of right now, you have cap commitments to Zack Sealer, Malik Wallace.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's the list.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: We're done.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: Those are your cap commitments going forward.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: Zack Sealer, who might not be here, and Malik Wallace.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, start working on some of those extensions.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: And remember,
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: But they're going to have the opportunity and they're going to see the opportunity to probably add a couple of starters and free agency next season to make the team that much better.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: After this one season.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_03]: So I caught that little slip in there.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_03]: You said, if Zack Sealer is here, do you have an inkling that he might not play another game for the Miami Dolphins?
- 9:29[SPEAKER_03]: Could he be traded here?
- 9:30[SPEAKER_03]: Could he be the next name on the trade block?
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they're going to do it.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: They have to do it past June 2nd because they just can't take the cap hit by trading him before June 2nd.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a post-June 2nd thing.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he has too much value.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's a little bit more aged, expensive, you know, expensive relatively speaking.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's not a Christian Wilkins expenditure, but he's not cheap either.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, past June 2nd, I could see him getting moved out for draft compensation.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, that would be for draft compensation in the following year for 2027.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: I could see something like that.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: Would it make any sense to do that or just have them play out the season and make it a little bit simpler to dump them the following season if you wish to do that?
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: We shall see.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't see it as hopeless as others see it.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, as far as tank talk, no, they're not tanking.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like we talked about on the podcast, they identified their quarterback.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's really cool.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: So, nothing that they've done has been a surprise, really.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: John Erick Sullivan said, first you get the quarterback then you build a round room.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: I happen to disagree with that for the most part.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I like a bridge quarterback while I build the team and then I hand over a ready mate team to a rookie quarterback.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: They have a different philosophy and understand their difference in philosophy because the difference in philosophy is Sometimes you hand a ready made roster to a rookie and the rookie is not good.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: You kind of implode that ready made roster, right?
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: Guys don't want to play for a rookie is just not good.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: We shall see, I think that a John Erick Sullivan has gotten off to a pretty damn good start here as General Manager of the team and if Jeff Halfley is going to be any good and I've said this before and some disagree with me, even on my own podcast, if Jeff Halfley is a good head coach, we'll be able to assess the roster and assign a win number to it.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: And if he goes below that win number, then maybe he's not such a good head coach and he should be I want to say the hot seat, but he's he's we should keep a close eye on him for 2027 when the roster's going to be much more improved.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: But moving on to something else that that kind of caught my
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: If you're on Twitter and you follow the World Baseball classics, do you watch the World Baseball classics?
- 12:20[SPEAKER_03]: I did, Al, if I watched it last night to the bitter end.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of Canadian fans are living by cariously through Venezuela.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: Venezuela, of all people and I'm going to use this show and I haven't done it on Twitter, but I probably should.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: If I do it on Twitter, I've got a thousand mentions.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: But I guess I'll use the show to tell Canadians this, we're happy for Venezuela winning.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: We're not happy when you guys win.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a difference here.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to celebrate and dance around the campfire and
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know, live by carously through Venezuela's victory.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: Then go ahead, but it's kind of sad and embarrassing if you ask me.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_03]: They're still mad over to the Olympics, huh?
- 13:13[SPEAKER_03]: Over there at that hockey final.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have a problem at all, you know, with them with the United States losing to to Venezuela.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: I have a problem with Aaron Judge, his last three at bat to that game.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: That was just bad.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_03]: That could have been a problem with coming up.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_03]: And Mark to Rose's managerial decisions, like we're baffling me, right?
- 13:34[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I get it.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_03]: Cal Raleigh wasn't having a world baseball classic for the ages, but Will Smith wasn't doing anything in that final either and and you have an opportunity to bring in somebody who hit 60 home runs last season and and tie the game up and deruss that you know Twitterly sums and wasted the opportunity you know if it wasn't for Bryce Harper's
- 13:55[SPEAKER_03]: home run in the eighth.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_03]: That would have been quite an embarrassing finish for Team USA.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_03]: As it was, it was an exciting finish.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_03]: Harper was a hero for a moment, just just a brief moment before that is where it took the lead again in the ninth, but you know, it was a hard-fought game, and that's what happens when it's a one-game series.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's a win-and-move on or in this
- 14:20[SPEAKER_03]: or you lose and you go home and that's not how baseball is played in the MLB, you know, that's not even how baseball is played during the regular season.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_03]: You're playing a series, a minimum of two or three games set, but, you know, hats off to Venezuela, they got the win, they got a damn good team, they got really good players on that squad, and they they left with the championship and USA to come second, there's there's no shame in that, you know,
- 14:48[SPEAKER_03]: winning first place is much better.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_03]: We all know that, but it was a very exciting tournament and I think it was a very
- 14:57[SPEAKER_03]: eye-opening tournament for fans around the world, right?
- 15:00[SPEAKER_03]: I think baseball's on the upswing.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_03]: I think baseball's making it come back.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's more people interested in baseball.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: Now, these last couple seasons than they're have, then, you know, gosh, probably the last couple decades, maybe longer in baseball.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_03]: And we got this, this,
- 15:19[SPEAKER_03]: work stoppage on the horizon, not this year, but next year.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm really hoping they can avoid that baseball always seems to shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to maintaining popularity and you'd hate to see them, you know, ruin this upswing that they're on right now, but but so far so good baseball's looking, looking very healthy, heading into the regular season
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, uh, yeah next week.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's in a week from today eight days from from today.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: Show.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, as far as the tournament, I would make a couple of changes like I've always liked double elimination tournaments.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you have a winners bracket and a losers bracket for those who don't know if you if you watched the college role series.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: back in a day, it would be a double elimination tournament, meaning you had to lose twice to get eliminated.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: If they were to be using a double elimination format in this, let me see how it would have gone, because the next day is be Canada and then Italy beat Puerto Rico, right?
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: So then Canada would have played Puerto Rico and then the United States still would have played Dominican Republic, but after being Dominican Republic, Dominican Republic would have been playing Japan.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: out of the losers bracket.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: And the United States would have been playing Venezuela.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: So then whoever would have won Japan and Dominican Republic would have moved on to the championship game.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: And the United States had beaten Venezuela a second time.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: Then it would have set up the United
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: single elimination against the winner of Japan and Dominican Republic.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I like a double elimination format.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: I understand why they're making it single elimination because they want to bite into spring training any more than they have.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: But if you could go every day and just put one day randomly during the week, which is essentially a major league baseball schedule and add a week to the World Baseball Classic and make a double elimination.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: And it would be a little bit more fair.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: But I understand what they want to do.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: They want to have the randomness of it.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they want Venice well to win, you know, but for example, if both teams because it's possible in a double elimination tournament that the two teams that make it all the way are undefeated, meaning that once they reach the end, they're essentially playing a best of three series, right?
- 18:03[SPEAKER_03]: which I think should be done anyways.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_03]: Even if you're going to do single elimination all throughout the tournament, once you get to the finals, I do think it should be minimum best of three series to determine a winner.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't, that's what they do in the College World Series.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, why not do something like that, you know?
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: But other than, you know, look as far as, you know, Mark Dorosa, I did not mind what lock in the ninth except I will say this.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: You had, once you tied that game, you had Vinnie's well over a barrel, they had two arms left and they had the condition on Polencia that he could only pitch in a safe situation, right?
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: But it's all that had three arms left, two of which were inferior to Polencia.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: So they could use Polencia in a safe situation, which is what they did, right?
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: So you're obviously trying to keep them off the board and trying to get your last crack at it.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: in the bottom of the night, right?
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Why not throw Mason Miller out there to make sure you hold them down and you take it to the bottom of the night, two, two.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right?
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that's what I would have done.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: but you know he went with wedlock wedlock was did not have his best stuff.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: He gave up the run and that allowed Venezuela to use the best closer in the night.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's the move that I think was a little bit off.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: He also fell in love with using Trevor Rogers.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Trevor Rogers was not very good toward the end of the season last year with the Metz trust me I know.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: and he did some weird things like he pitched Trevor Rogers with a guy in scoring position and nobody on first.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: The reason you use Trevor Rogers is to throw ground balls.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to throw ground ball there with somebody on second with one out.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: Because the ground ball finds a hole and that's a run.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: He ended up getting a pop-up which is odd.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: Right, but you know, if there was somebody on first, I would understand it, but you know, you got away for the, you got away with it and, and he pitched well and got out of that jam, but yeah, if you're going to do anything else, I guess Mason Miller would have made a little bit of sense, you know, that's the only, that's the only thing I couldn't really fault the rose for I think that that was a mistake and yeah, Cal Riley, I understand he wants Will Smith to handle all the pictures.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: Screw it.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: I want my 60 home run guy.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's again at least one at bat in the biggest game of the turn.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right?
- 20:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yep, and you know Aaron judge the team.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_03]: No favors, Kyle Schwabber was over in that one and and You know either way it's all said and done you can't go back.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_03]: You can't redo
- 20:51[SPEAKER_03]: It would have been nice to see the USA take gold and hockey in the Olympics when the world-based ball classic.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_03]: Same year the country turns 250 years old.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_03]: That's quite the storyline.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_03]: But it just wasn't to be.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, they'll turn around next time and try to get it done.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_03]: But it is what it is.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go to break and we'll come back.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk around a rousey and some MMA.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_01]: But first, let me tell you about underdog.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: Underdog fantasy, the tournament is back.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: The upsets are inevitable, and underdog is the best place to get in on all the action.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: Play an underdog is easy.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: Just pick whether your favorite player will go higher or lower on stats like points, rebounds, steels, and more.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: Get your picks right, and you could win up to 5,000 times your cash.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: Hurricanes play on Friday.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: I like the hurricanes.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: I like Iowa State.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: I understand that a lot of people don't.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: I watch Iowa State play all season long and they look like one of the better teams to me.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: I also like Arkansas.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: I like Michigan.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: But Iowa State is...
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: of the higher seeds.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: They're the ones who are getting the least amount of respect and they're the ones who are like the most.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: So download the app today and use the promo code three yards.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's the promo code three yards.

- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's promo code three yards.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: Underdog.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: Make picks when money.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_00]: Be 18 plus.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_00]: 19 plus in Alabama in Nebraska.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_00]: 19 plus in Colorado for some games.

- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you've been paying attention to what Ron Ross is doing as of late.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: But she's making the rounds.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, I guess we'll talk a little bit about the videos that she's releasing.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: She looks fabulous in her and her workout videos.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: Gina Caronel does not.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe Gina Caronel's sandbagging a little bit.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: Gina Caronel, you know, she can throw punches and she looks great throwing the punches.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: She looks great period.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: You can see she's a little bit flat-footed and there's some fighters that are putting out some critiques about like her padwork
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: out there and this is something you know a little bit about run arousy is not that far removed from actually competing in something athletically what was the last time she was in and wrestling that was what two years ago three years ago yeah yeah somewhere around there uh i but did she have a child after she left the WWA or no or was that per question i'm not i was that per four
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, she looks absolutely fabulous.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: Even with her padwork, which is not usually what she's actually really good at, but she slimed.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: She's not getting her fighting weight already, which is about 145 pounds.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: And Gina Corona looked a little bit slower.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like her footwork is a little bit off.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: She looks like somebody that hasn't fought in 17 years, right?
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the differences are 39 year old versus a 43 year old.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: The video, first of all, I would have put out that video, make of me looking that bad about our Gina Corrano.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: But is there something to be said for, and I know you don't train MMA fighters or boxers, you train wrestlers, but somebody who's been out of it in actual ring, actual competition for a long time,
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: Is that something that takes a really, really long time to get back?
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: Or is that something that it's like, yeah, you know, it's like writing a bike, you know, you never forget.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's funny you use that that reference there, writing a bike, you know, getting in shape, running on a treadmill, doing a workout.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_03]: There's nothing that you can do athletically or physically that's going to replicate the sport that you're trying to compete in.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 25:11[SPEAKER_03]: The only way that you can get in shape for, you know, in my business professional wrestling is to do professional wrestling, right?
- 25:20[SPEAKER_03]: So you can run 10 miles a day.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_03]: You can bike 20 miles a day.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_03]: You can you can hit the gym five, six days a week.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_03]: you're still not ready to compete in a wrestling ring, you know, even though, you know, my business is scripted, it still requires a certain level of conditioning and a certain level of athleticism.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_03]: You're not ready until you've done it, right?
- 25:43[SPEAKER_03]: We'll say that.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_03]: There's a difference between being in shape and being in ring shape.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_03]: And I doubt there's little difference.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_03]: between wrestling and MMA in that regard, you know, it just requires a certain height of cardiovascular endurance that you can't replicate by doing anything else, you know?
- 26:06[SPEAKER_03]: I would say the closest,
- 26:08[SPEAKER_03]: way to replicate it would be doing some H-I-I-T workouts, right?
- 26:12[SPEAKER_03]: High-intensity interval training.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_03]: That is probably the closest thing that would replicate a wrestling match or an MMA fight, you know?
- 26:21[SPEAKER_03]: And until you're doing it consistently, you're not going to know if you're ready to do it.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_03]: So there's probably something to be said about Corrano having such a long break
- 26:37[SPEAKER_03]: And you're probably right, Alph, I bet Rhonda looks like look sharp right now and looks like she's ready to go where Karanos probably trying to work back into that shape still because it's been so long for her.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll see if she gets there, but from what you tell me, it ain't looking good so far.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: No, she has two months to get into that shape.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: I have no doubt that she's going to get into shape.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: My doubts are if she's going to gain some of her skill that she lost over 17 years, is that going to translate?
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: She's going to bring all of that back.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: all of a sudden.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, Ronner looks fabulous in her videos that she's put out working out and Coronel does not.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Olo Coronel does look, she looks fine.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_01]: She looks really, really good for, for what it is, you know, it's 17 years outside of the, of the Octagon.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Roner Aussie showed up on AEW and I don't know if you saw any of that.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of AWS friends are like, oh, she's there, she's she's with a W now and I'm like, whoa, whoa, slow down.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: She has a fight in two months.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: If she's actually going to wrestle
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: and fight you to Corono, I'll be extremely impressed.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: But what do you make a Ronda Rousey as far as her persona?
- 28:01[SPEAKER_01]: Everywhere she goes, she leaves and she then goes on on YouTube and doesn't interview or a podcast where she essentially rips everybody that she associated with before.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like, she's the most unlikable person in combat sports
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: She decides the obvious ones.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, she loves to burn those bridges, doesn't she?
- 28:28[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, burn in the boat, she ain't coming back, you know, she...
- 28:32[SPEAKER_03]: I don't.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not entirely sure she understands how the professional sling business works, you know what I mean?
- 28:39[SPEAKER_03]: Like, she takes things too personally.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes somebody's gonna cut a promo against you and they're going to say some mean and terrible things.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_03]: That is in the interest of making money.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_03]: That is not because they truly feel that way about you, right?
- 28:58[SPEAKER_03]: They are trying to embellish and outlandishly speak things that may not necessarily be true, or maybe there's a little glimmer of truth and they're going to amplify it in order to talk asses into the seats, right?
- 29:14[SPEAKER_03]: If we create a conflict that appears realistic,
- 29:18[SPEAKER_03]: fans will spend their money on tickets, they will come to watch the fight and everyone will make more money, right?
- 29:26[SPEAKER_03]: If we sit here and consistently say, oh, well, you're a good fighter, but so am I and let's go out there and see who's the best.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_03]: That gets boring, people don't want that.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_03]: This is the conflict business, whether it's MMA, whether it's WWE, whether it's AEW, it's the conflict business.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_03]: You are selling conflict, right?
- 29:46[SPEAKER_03]: And if you think WWE or professional wrestling, if you think we're the only ones in belishing things to sell tickets, your sorely mistaken.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_03]: Boxing does the same thing, MMA does the same thing, right?
- 29:59[SPEAKER_03]: So, yes, I'm not entirely sure that Ronda Rousey completely understands that when people are saying mean things about her, they don't actually mean it, they're not trying to take shots at you to make you feel bad as a human being, they're trying to sell tickets and make money.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_03]: So, I'm not sure she ever got it, you know, and that's off to her.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_03]: When she was performing in a ring, in a WWE ring, she more than held her own.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_03]: how little experience she had in the business.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_03]: It takes a long time to get good at professional wrestling and she got pretty good at it.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_03]: pretty quickly.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_03]: So Kudos to her for that.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_03]: But you know, if she's going to go to AEW and think that it's going to be any different there and that they're going to treat her with with kid gloves on.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_03]: She she's got another thing coming.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_03]: That's not how it's going to work there.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_03]: I think AEW wrestlers fly off the handle.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_03]: and work themselves into a shoot far more than WWE wrestlers do.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_03]: So if she thinks she's going to go to AEW, whether she is or not, if she thinks she's going to go there and have an easier time, she's probably mistaken in that regard.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, one thing about Rousey and I don't know if we believe some of the, you know, wrestling YouTube channels or whatever, but you know who her husband is, right?
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Travis Brown.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: Big dude.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's about six, four, two hundred and fifty pounds.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: like he'd be pretty good in a wrestling ring.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: There's a reason why he never showed up on WWE because she was pitched certain things.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, she was brought in as a baby face.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: If you remember Ron Ross who used to be smiling all the time, shaking hands, kissing babies, she was basically a white meat baby face and I don't think that that really suited her too much.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, supposedly they wanted to use her husband in storylines and she objective, objected, what do you think about that like when when a wrestling promotion, I guess buys a wrestler and thinks that they're getting your whole family.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, this business is wild.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_03]: This is sometimes the professional wrestling business is the wild-walled West, you know what I mean?
- 32:26[SPEAKER_03]: Anything goes.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_03]: And we've seen many, many times in professional wrestling where real life drama can translate on-screen, pretty damn well.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, look at the whole,
- 32:38[SPEAKER_03]: Ed, Matt Hardy, Lita, love triangle that was happening behind the scenes.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_03]: They made one of the best storylines in professional wrestling history out of that real life personal drama between those three.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_03]: So, I mean,
- 32:55[SPEAKER_03]: Rousey's well within her rights to say she doesn't want to do that.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_03]: I bet Travis Brown would have enjoyed doing that, getting on TV, making a little scratch himself, making a name for himself in that way.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_03]: But again, it might just be another indicator that Ronda Rousey doesn't exactly know how the professional wrestling business works and she wasn't willing to play ball.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_03]: So to speak.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she also has the head that thing and I guess what we'll leave it here with Rhonda.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: She had that thing where she would, she decided she was going to protect her character and the way she was going to protect us by saying, I'm actually not a character, I'm Rhonda Rousy, so I can't lose to some of these chicks.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: And supposedly she did that.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think Liv Morgan was one that she put supposedly refused to lose to, like she says, I'll lose and if you notice and I'll never believe it in a million years when she lost the Becky Lynch she pulled that Hogan thing where he would kick out at two and three quarters and be like, oh no, I got screwed.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think that she did that on purpose.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think so too?
- 34:13[SPEAKER_03]: Any inside knowledge on that, but I will say, through conversations, I've had with people who might be involved in situations like that, there, I mean.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: Let's just say, Rhonda Rousey isn't the most well-liked human being in the professional resting business and there are legitimate reasons for that.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like there's nothing wrong with losing with the spot that she was put in, right?
- 34:43[SPEAKER_03]: And if you look bad, you put the heat on the wrap, you put the heat on the company at that point, everybody scrambling to figure out where to go from that.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_03]: So sometimes you just gotta play ball, you know what I mean?
- 34:55[SPEAKER_03]: Like it's wrestling cyclical, you're on top, but you're not always gonna be on top.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_03]: Eventually you gotta come back around and work your way back up to the top position.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_03]: But she just wanted to be on top, stay on top, because she thought, well in real life, I can beat all these girls' asses.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_03]: Well, guess what, this isn't real life, this is a story line, right?
- 35:16[SPEAKER_03]: And real life, Thanos snaps his fingers and all the Avengers are obliterated, right?
- 35:21[SPEAKER_03]: They've disintegrated into a million pieces, but it's not real life.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_03]: We're trying to tell stories.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_03]: We're trying to, we're trying to excite people, right?
- 35:31[SPEAKER_03]: We're trying to get people to spend money on a product that they know isn't a legitimate sporting competition, right?
- 35:37[SPEAKER_03]: So sometimes you sell, you,
- 35:39[SPEAKER_03]: you sell and you tell stories that are a little unrealistic.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_03]: Do we think Liv Morgan could beat up Ronda Rousey in real life?
- 35:48[SPEAKER_03]: Hell no, but this isn't real life.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_03]: This is pro wrestling.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes you just have to play the game.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: Anything happening in wrestling that you want to share?
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't watch anything this past week.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_03]: my boy Seth Rollins is getting cleared right now.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_03]: We were texting this morning.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_03]: He's in Orlando getting that shoulder checked out.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_03]: Making sure he's good to go.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_03]: He's back on TV.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_03]: We got all of our our masked black and brave students helping him out.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_03]: Although Brock Lesnar really took them to task on Monday if you watch that.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he was dumping people left and right.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_03]: Right
- 36:26[SPEAKER_03]: very dangerous but I'm excited for that excited to see him come back excited to see where he goes where the character goes it almost looks like this this drip god character might be in the past and he might get back to being an ass kicker which i think a lot of people would be excited to see and i think he'd be excited to do that he can dress normally on good morning football
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, he's actually, he actually hasn't been dressed too weird on good morning football as of starting to transition into the, the normally dressed human being.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: Now let me ask you, went when a, when a storyline tends to go away out of nowhere.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: Is there any way that you can somehow bring it back and have it still be relevant?
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: Because I was, I was thinking the other day like when
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody remembers when it went away.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_03]: It did just kind of peter out, right?
- 37:22[SPEAKER_03]: There was no definitive conclusion to that story.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_03]: Like, wrestling's beautiful, right?
- 37:26[SPEAKER_03]: The wrestling is a never-ending story.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_03]: There's always another page.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_03]: There's no off-season and you got to, you got to fill time and give people content that they're craving, especially now.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_03]: But the amount of hours they have to write,
- 37:41[SPEAKER_03]: television for every single week between rods back down in NXT and now triple A and you got online content and the speed championship and yada yada yada yada right there's so much new content every single week
- 37:57[SPEAKER_03]: There's certainly room to revisit old storylines that maybe didn't get the proper ending they deserve.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_03]: So I wouldn't be surprised if you saw a revived bloodline storyline making its way back to television, especially with all this CM Punk Roman rain stuff that's going down leading into WrestleMania.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_03]: I would say it's not out of the question to see something happen once again with Roman and the
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because a lot of people say that, you know, solceco is one who ruined it.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that he was actually fine in his role.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was actually working when he was the head of the bloodline, because it was going to set up like a bloodline civil war.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: That was actually going to be kind of a good thing.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_03]: That would have been a much better way to end this in my opinion, than who knows.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_03]: We may still come around to it.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: Alright.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: I guess we could leave it there.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think next week we could begin.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: I guess we'll be what?
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: Two weeks, three weeks away from WrestleMania.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: Now we pretty much have all the matches already, right?
- 39:02[SPEAKER_03]: And we'll be one month away from the NFL draft.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_03]: which is going to be a whole lot of fun real quick.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: We're having top 100 picks.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_03]: That's seven top 100 picks, including number 11 and number 30 overall in the first round.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_03]: Gun to your head does John Eric Sullivan use either of those picks on a wide receiver, knowing that the Green Bay way is to not use first round picks on wide receivers except for Matthew Golden last year.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: Number 11, no chance, number 30, there's a possibility.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: All right, but number 11 no chance I do think one of the third Ron picks could be used on on a wide receiver like that's something that can be used they have four of them.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, they're going to be able to do whatever they want in that third round.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_01]: And that third round, they're going to be able to take Jeff Halfley's pet, you know, pet pick.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: And they're going to be able to ask Bobby slow.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_01]: Because there are anybody that you might, you know, that you have your eye on and use a third round pick on that, too.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_01]: So they're going to have a lot of versatility in that third round.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: They could do basically anything they want to do in that third round.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: There is no more.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: We will be with you again next week as we we inched and crawl toward WrestleMania.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like their the ticket situation has remedied itself meaning they've lowered prices, which is always always works sometimes you gotta do it.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was looking at certain things in Las Vegas for that weekend and like there's a UFC fight night event, cheapest ticket in a fight and remember fight night is at the UFC Apex Center it's different.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of like old school wrestling really because in the Apex, it seats 820 people.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: The cheapest seat there is 250 bucks for something that weekend.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe they're looking at the competition.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, you know what, maybe doing this thing in Vegas two years in a row is probably not the best of ideas.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: So supposedly travel is also down to Vegas.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: There's less flights being booked now to Vegas.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: So essentially what you're getting and what they're noticing is that a lot of people that went to last year's row so many are just running it back and coming back again this year.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll talk about it next week on the show and as always if you want to participate with us you want to ask you want to interact with us at any time during the week you got to go to our discord and that's discord dot gg
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: Ford slash olive ends, there it is on the screen.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: I was put a link to it on every single one of these promos.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: Join out at desktop, avoid the app all up charges, if 499, a month.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: All right, that's it.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: There's no more.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: We will talk to you again next week.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_02]: Peace.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_03]: Thanks for listening to the off-season.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_03]: American out.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_03]: Until next time, raise your fans, raise your glasses, and we'll talk to you next time.
