- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So let's talk about building resilient behavior within
- 0:35yourself, not within other people, but within yourself.
- 0:39How do we create a sense of being resilient when we know
- 0:44it's tough out there? Sometimes it's hard to keep
- 0:47picking yourself back up and dusting yourself off and
- 0:51starting all over again. Like what is the reason that we
- 0:53would want to do that? It's, there's a lot of
- 0:56challenges in the world right now.
- 0:58There are a lot of things that make us want to just throw the
- 1:00towel in, give up, do whatever. Yet we want to build a resilient
- 1:04behaviour and say, no, I can keep going.
- 1:06I can keep doing this. It's this is, this is good.
- 1:10I can keep doing this. Now I'll be the 1st to tell you
- 1:13the, the hardest part about building resilient behaviour is
- 1:17consistency. If you're not consistent, it'll
- 1:21take you over. Like you'll just go back to the
- 1:23old habits. You'll give in, you'll slip,
- 1:26whether it's you'll start eating things you shouldn't again or
- 1:29start, you know, skipping working out or just stop
- 1:32studying. I mean, there are a million ways
- 1:35to let it slip. And they show up daily.
- 1:39And it's almost like they're tempting you daily to make a,
- 1:42you know, make a mistake, slip up, go right back to the old
- 1:47behaviors. It's just the nature of things
- 1:51that it takes place that way. So consistency, consistency,
- 1:55consistency. You have to find a path of
- 2:00looking at how to become consistent.
- 2:03What are the things I need to do to be consistent?
- 2:07And one of the biggest things that allows you to be consistent
- 2:12is setting yourself up ahead of time so you can be consistent,
- 2:17not worrying about, you know, what we would do in the moment.
- 2:20Now, part of building resilience is looking at yourself and
- 2:27saying, OK, do I at the core believe I'm a resilient person?
- 2:32And most of us will always answer yes because we don't want
- 2:34to be like, you know, the person who's like, oh, I'm not
- 2:37resilient. I can't come back from anything
- 2:39that's not in our nature to answer it that way.
- 2:42So once you have a definitive answer that yes, you do want to
- 2:45be resilient, then you have to say, OK, let me look at my
- 2:48consistency. Where am I inconsistent?
- 2:51Where do I show up inconsistent? And you start defining those
- 2:55inconsistencies that show up. Where are they?
- 2:58Then you go, OK, if I'm resilient and I'm in my
- 3:02resilient emotion and mindset, then how is it that I'm going to
- 3:06look at this and be OK, I've got this nailed down.
- 3:11I can come up with a way easily to remain consistent when I
- 3:16don't want to do it, and that formulates resilience, if that
- 3:21makes sense. It's all about working through
- 3:23that habit and getting yourself back on track the right way.
- 3:27But unless you decide to ask the question like where do I fall
- 3:30off, you're never going to know where you can do better.
- 3:32You got to know where you're starting from.
- 3:34And that's always backing up to say, where do I fall off?
- 3:37Anytime you want to be resilient, anytime you want to
- 3:39be better, anytime you want to grow, you have to always say,
- 3:41well, where am I starting from? What is the starting point?
- 3:44What is the belief system that I have at the core?
- 3:46Do I believe what I believe about something, whether it's
- 3:49resilience or something else? And then you go into this place
- 3:52of saying, OK, once I have that down, then I look at my
- 3:56inconsistencies. Where do they show up?
- 3:58I now know. And then I can jump into the
- 4:00next phase of it, which is OK, how do I want to override my
- 4:04inconsistencies? How do I want to override the
- 4:06belief systems that are taking me out?
- 4:08And a big part of it is reminding yourself that you
- 4:12believe you're resilient. So you come back and say, no,
- 4:14listen, I believe I'm resilient. I believe I am a resilient
- 4:17person. And if I believe that, then I
- 4:21should be able to do XY and Z. The more you put that into your
- 4:25brain, the better off you are going to be.
- 4:28The more you recognize that part of yourself, the better off
- 4:31you're going to be. Allows you to feel good because
- 4:35you're recalibrating yourself, but it also reminds you to say,
- 4:40listen, I, I am truly better than this.
- 4:42I am better than falling off the wagon and doing the things that
- 4:46I've been doing. That's not who I want to be.
- 4:48That's not how I want to show up.
- 4:50That's not what I want my myself to be like, look like, act like,
- 4:53sound like. So you've got to remind yourself
- 4:58regularly about who you believe you are as a base of building
- 5:03resilience, really anything. But today we're talking about
- 5:06resilience. Once you start building that
- 5:08base, then you can go back and say, OK, this is how I'm going
- 5:12to layer on to this every day. This is how I show resilience.
- 5:16Every day I, I pick up and I do this a little bit more or I, I
- 5:20work a little bit harder on some area of my life that I know it
- 5:24needs. It's just a matter of taking it
- 5:28step by step and breaking it down.
- 5:30All right, my friends, I hope you have a very, very good day.
- 5:33I hope it's fantastic, resilient, and I will see you
- 5:37all tomorrow. Bye.
