- 0:05Speaker 1: Do you want to have a guard doing the intro
- 0:07Speaker 1: like the theme music's rolling? Do you want to kind of.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to the program, the problem program? What's that program?
- 0:16Speaker 1: Oh?
- 0:17Speaker 2: Go grab?
- 0:18Speaker 1: Do you want to have another guy doing the intro?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Welcome to the show? Jesus Christ, this is why you
- 0:24Speaker 1: don't do it? How are you?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Great, so much better now.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure this banana bread's going down to treat.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you for buying that for me. That's all right,
- 0:33Speaker 2: thanks to the left. That's the first sweet thing I've
- 0:36Speaker 2: had for a few weeks.
- 0:37Speaker 1: In your mouth to life, that's a lie. Shit's been hectic,
- 0:41Speaker 1: hasn't it. At the start of the year. I've got love.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I feel like I'm so boring because I've been so busy,
- 0:47Speaker 1: yet I'm just so bored at the same time. Yeah,
- 0:50Speaker 1: there's just nothing, nothing great. That's a lot of exciting
- 0:52Speaker 1: stuff coming up.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that's the feedback I get from people who
- 0:55Speaker 2: listen to your radio.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Shit, that's the feedback I get from your wife. You're
- 1:00Speaker 1: that you're very boring. She's like, he whispers, engineering things
- 1:05Speaker 1: in the throes of passion.
- 1:07Speaker 2: It's okay. Do you want a square roon?
- 1:14Speaker 1: You just whispers the weirdest inane thing. How good is
- 1:18Speaker 1: the miracle of flight? China the Chinese Chicken? What nothing?
- 1:25Speaker 1: It's a song by smash Mouth. You just come back
- 1:28Speaker 1: from the world's newest third world country, Los Angeles. That
- 1:33Speaker 1: is so true. What a hole? Yeah?
- 1:37Speaker 2: For how woke California is?
- 1:39Speaker 4: It is?
- 1:40Speaker 2: It is a grim place at the moment.
- 1:42Speaker 4: So I was over there and we'll chat about this
- 1:44Speaker 4: shortly in the States to talk to drive the new
- 1:47Speaker 4: Lexus GX. But after that drive, I went to Los
- 1:52Speaker 4: Angeles to film some extra content. And while Arizona, where
- 1:56Speaker 4: we went for GX, is absolutely stunning, amazing, and you know,
- 2:01Speaker 4: it's just cool.
- 2:01Speaker 2: It's just a cool spot.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Los Angeles has really just descended into San Francisco.
- 2:08Speaker 2: My goodness, that is a joint you did not want
- 2:10Speaker 2: to go near.
- 2:11Speaker 1: So it's the mecca for the holy homeless.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah, but just very quickly.
- 2:17Speaker 4: It is sad what it has become because not only
- 2:20Speaker 4: is it very expensive, and that is just for a
- 2:23Speaker 4: US resident. It is very very expensive if you're going
- 2:25Speaker 4: there as an Australian because that dollar sucks. But if
- 2:27Speaker 4: you're over there and you don't have a job or
- 2:29Speaker 4: you don't really own much money. I just don't understand
- 2:32Speaker 4: how anyone's surviving. And you can see why there are
- 2:34Speaker 4: so many homeless people, but they just keep jacking the cost.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Of everything up.
- 2:37Speaker 4: They're pushing everyone into these expensive evs like it is
- 2:42Speaker 4: just a bit of a disaster.
- 2:43Speaker 1: So Webby, what always sort of like throws me is
- 2:46Speaker 1: in different states in America, there's different tax laws and
- 2:51Speaker 1: different healthcare systems as well. So if you live in Texas,
- 2:55Speaker 1: for instance, you kind of can get a better deal
- 2:57Speaker 1: on things like medical and tax benefits and stuff like
- 3:00Speaker 1: that where he's in La Oh Jesus.
- 3:02Speaker 2: But it's even down to stuff like fuel.
- 3:04Speaker 4: So in Phoenix, we were staying just outside Phoenix, fuel
- 3:08Speaker 4: was like two dollars eighty US a gallon. In Los
- 3:11Speaker 4: Angeles it was closer to five dollars a gallon. So
- 3:16Speaker 4: I just I really don't understand how you can have
- 3:19Speaker 4: such a discrepancy when this joint is, you know, one
- 3:23Speaker 4: thousand kilometers away here at least you know it is
- 3:26Speaker 4: similar in terms of fuel. It's not going to be
- 3:28Speaker 4: dollars of difference. So yeah, I just think it's it's
- 3:31Speaker 4: a bit of a broken country at the moment, So
- 3:33Speaker 4: I'll be interested to see how they fix all of that.
- 3:37Speaker 2: But yeah, it's not not a good situation.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I've been divided for a long time too, and I
- 3:41Speaker 1: don't think it hasn't gotten better at all. Despite whether
- 3:44Speaker 1: you're a Trump guy, whether you're a who's the sleepy
- 3:47Speaker 1: old man, the demension guy Joe Biden, whether you're a
- 3:50Speaker 1: Biden guy, I'm.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Waiting for that guy.
- 3:52Speaker 1: It's just like die mid press conference.
- 3:54Speaker 2: He genuinely has no idea where he is.
- 3:57Speaker 4: They got him the other day because this is two
- 4:00Speaker 4: into a politics podcast, but I watched a feverit and
- 4:02Speaker 4: news while I was over there. They got him for
- 4:05Speaker 4: hoarding classified documents, which is exactly what they got Trump for,
- 4:09Speaker 4: and one of the people that was investigating said something
- 4:12Speaker 4: along the lines of.
- 4:14Speaker 2: He's a well meaning elderly man with a bad memory.
- 4:18Speaker 2: And I'm like, you've just said that about your president,
- 4:22Speaker 2: and one of the guys in the way are Yeah,
- 4:26Speaker 2: I just craped my pants.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 4:29Speaker 4: So yeah, we'll talk more about the LEXUSJX shortly, and
- 4:32Speaker 4: I might even I'll touch on it now. Just some
- 4:35Speaker 4: of the stuff that we did outside of the GX
- 4:37Speaker 4: launch in Los Angeles. We drove the Twitter rad Fall Prime,
- 4:40Speaker 4: which is fantastic. So that's basically the rad Fall that
- 4:44Speaker 4: we get, but it's a plug in hybrid and it
- 4:46Speaker 4: does zero to one hundred and under six seconds.
- 4:48Speaker 1: She is phenomenal, tchnique.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Really efficient, very easy to manage and drive. We also
- 4:55Speaker 4: drove the Keya Tell You Ride the x Pro, which
- 4:58Speaker 4: is the off road version on All Terrains.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Almost got shot by a lady.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Well.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I just presumed I was where it was going to
- 5:05Speaker 2: escalate that this was American American dotter pretty much.
- 5:08Speaker 4: She came and started yelling at us for using the
- 5:11Speaker 4: filming on this land that she claimed private America.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Get on my land, Hey, stop pouring the kids shoes.
- 5:19Speaker 1: But I asked her, so whose land is it?
- 5:22Speaker 4: Just because I'll go ask permission if it's not okay,
- 5:24Speaker 4: because I was genuinely like, well, I don't want to
- 5:26Speaker 4: film here if it's someone land and she goes, I
- 5:28Speaker 4: think it's the guy up there, and I said ok
- 5:30Speaker 4: I said do you have permission to be here?
- 5:31Speaker 1: Because she was walking her dogs on it.
- 5:33Speaker 4: And she's like yeah, And I'm like, but you don't
- 5:35Speaker 4: know who owns the land. So I was like, all right, cool, Like,
- 5:39Speaker 4: you just look like you probably hit the pipe fairly frequently,
- 5:42Speaker 4: so I'm just going to get out of here before
- 5:44Speaker 4: you come back and shoot me.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I would have asked for a sweet deal.
- 5:48Speaker 4: But yeah, So I did that and also drove a
- 5:49Speaker 4: rivianah yeah, yeah, yeah to the suv and that ended
- 5:54Speaker 4: up being an absolute disaster. When it came to charging
- 5:58Speaker 4: as part of the review, I thought, let's just shoot
- 6:00Speaker 4: a bit of content on what it's like to charge
- 6:03Speaker 4: a car in a state like California that is fully
- 6:05Speaker 4: into EVS and outside of Norway is one of the
- 6:09Speaker 4: more progressive sort of electric feed They kind.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Of led the way with that sort of stuff. They
- 6:13Speaker 1: really championed it.
- 6:14Speaker 4: And I genuinely thought it was just going to be
- 6:15Speaker 4: like a five minute video and everything was going to
- 6:17Speaker 4: be great. It ended up being an absolute saga. It
- 6:20Speaker 4: took us so long to actually charge this car, as in,
- 6:23Speaker 4: find a charger that wasn't that didn't have a queue
- 6:26Speaker 4: of ten fifteen cars.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it was incredible watching that footage, unbelievable. I was
- 6:31Speaker 1: blown away.
- 6:31Speaker 4: So yeah, I'll have a video on that. Will chat
- 6:34Speaker 4: about that in a bit more detail later.
- 6:35Speaker 1: All Right, We thought we should talk about emissions laws.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Do you want to start with that? Do you want
- 6:39Speaker 1: to talk about emissions laws? Because they're sort of coming
- 6:42Speaker 1: up and a few things have been and now it's
- 6:44Speaker 1: now I'm going to go through my dumbass kind of
- 6:46Speaker 1: understanding of this and then you can throw me over
- 6:49Speaker 1: the coals and just tell me where I'm kind of right,
- 6:51Speaker 1: because basically all wrong, Yeah, all right, all wrong, very
- 6:54Speaker 1: much wrong. So Paul wanted to bring up emissions standards,
- 6:58Speaker 1: and so I thought to myself, here we go. He's
- 7:00Speaker 1: going to have like a little Pavais moment of I'm
- 7:03Speaker 1: going to have an editorial. From what I can understand
- 7:06Speaker 1: is you lower emissions, you lower the carbon footprint. Right now,
- 7:09Speaker 1: Europe has been, I guess, leading the way on this.
- 7:13Speaker 1: They kind of change the game when it comes to
- 7:16Speaker 1: emissions full stop. And that includes the current industry. So
- 7:19Speaker 1: the difference between Europe and Australia is Europe is very
- 7:22Speaker 1: much mandated by laws. Australia is, well, we have these
- 7:27Speaker 1: things called voluntary emissions targets. Now, from what I can
- 7:30Speaker 1: get is we're not really accountable to even hit these
- 7:34Speaker 1: targets at all. And I think in the last three years,
- 7:38Speaker 1: we haven't. I think it's gotten worse. So we sell
- 7:42Speaker 1: heaps of view, heaps of four wheel drives. The one
- 7:45Speaker 1: thing I will say is when it comes to what
- 7:48Speaker 1: causes high emissions, so Australia has really dirty fuel on
- 7:53Speaker 1: the world market, on the world sort of scheme of
- 7:55Speaker 1: it all, we've got dirty fuel which they're fixing. Well, yes,
- 7:58Speaker 1: that's kind of part of this whole thing. So we
- 8:01Speaker 1: love our utes, we love our four wheel drives, and
- 8:03Speaker 1: so this is going to make it tougher when it
- 8:04Speaker 1: comes to new laws coming into force. What exactly was
- 8:08Speaker 1: announced this week, I'm a bit confused at So all
- 8:10Speaker 1: new cars, SUVs, light commercial vehicles, basically anything that's introduced
- 8:16Speaker 1: in Australia in September next year, so that's twenty twenty
- 8:20Speaker 1: five has to go by the new Euro six D standard.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Previous existing models will have to hit that by twenty
- 8:30Speaker 1: twenty eight. And that's to comply. Half the current models
- 8:33Speaker 1: we've got on sale right now are Euro five So
- 8:36Speaker 1: Euro six D is even stricter. Yep. With that, you
- 8:40Speaker 1: don't just consider the type of car, You've got to
- 8:42Speaker 1: consider the type of petrol that's going into it. Now,
- 8:45Speaker 1: this is the weird thing. This is what I couldn't
- 8:46Speaker 1: quite get, which you can get to in a second.
- 8:48Speaker 1: But I know that we're going to be reducing the
- 8:51Speaker 1: amount of sultware in our petrol, and I think this
- 8:53Speaker 1: seems like it's going to be affecting octane ninety five.
- 8:58Speaker 4: So yeah, basically, and ninety one is the worst defender
- 9:03Speaker 4: at the moment. If you look at ninety one rong
- 9:04Speaker 4: fuel that we have in Australia, it is amongst the
- 9:08Speaker 4: worst in the world for sulfur content, and that is
- 9:12Speaker 4: why a lot of modern engines require ninety five or
- 9:16Speaker 4: ninety eight ROND fuel to run.
- 9:18Speaker 2: So a lot of European vehicles that are sold in.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Australia have minimums because if you feed at ninety one
- 9:23Speaker 4: it will basically destroy the engine. So yeah, that that
- 9:27Speaker 4: is what they're looking at fixing. And they already fixed diesel.
- 9:29Speaker 4: So the sulfur content in diesel is now sort of
- 9:33Speaker 4: in amongst first world countries, but our unleaded fuel is
- 9:36Speaker 4: amongst the worst in the world, and that's what they're
- 9:39Speaker 4: looking at fixing.
- 9:40Speaker 2: That's also the.
- 9:40Speaker 4: One that they claim will only increase the cost of
- 9:44Speaker 4: fuel by a cent or two cents a lead, which
- 9:46Speaker 4: I just think is absolute nonsense.
- 9:47Speaker 2: It'll be much more than that.
- 9:48Speaker 1: So this is and that includes taking sulfur and stuff
- 9:51Speaker 1: like that at or the rubbish.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Ye.
- 9:56Speaker 1: So basically what this I feel like, what this is
- 9:59Speaker 1: going to sort of packed is things like youtes heavy
- 10:01Speaker 1: duty kind of commercial vehicles, utes apparently like Niche sports cars.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I don't know what falls under Niche sports cars by
- 10:10Speaker 1: the way, because yeah, anyway, it depends what you go with.
- 10:14Speaker 1: But apparently some budget hashback models as well. Yep, so
- 10:20Speaker 1: that don't really have the Euro six dy variants. That's
- 10:25Speaker 1: sort of a big question will they survive? But yeah,
- 10:29Speaker 1: where am I at with that? Good?
- 10:32Speaker 2: Okay, now just give you one sect of triple checks,
- 10:35Speaker 2: I think. So that's all sort of pretty much there.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Just the sort of nuances of it.
- 10:42Speaker 4: The way that it will work is manufacturers will have
- 10:46Speaker 4: limits per vehicle that they have to meet. So this
- 10:50Speaker 4: is average CO two emissions per kilometer across their vehicle fleets.
- 10:55Speaker 4: So if you think of let's say Ford for example,
- 10:58Speaker 4: and you've got all of the vehicles that they sell,
- 11:01Speaker 4: basically they're going to say that let's say your limit
- 11:03Speaker 4: is two hundred grams per kilometer or something like that.
- 11:06Speaker 2: There's plucking that out of thin air.
- 11:08Speaker 4: If their average sales mainly rangeer in Everest, which they are,
- 11:13Speaker 4: what they'll need to do is basically figure out what
- 11:16Speaker 4: amount above that average they're contributing to the environment for
- 11:20Speaker 4: the vehicles that they sell, and then they will be
- 11:23Speaker 4: penalized for that.
- 11:24Speaker 1: So would they be inclined to be interested because they
- 11:29Speaker 1: don't really just said they don't really have many evs.
- 11:32Speaker 1: They've got the here in Australia, they've got the Mark three,
- 11:35Speaker 1: the Mustang Mark three. I think they've got like some
- 11:38Speaker 1: sort of a transit van too. Does that mean I
- 11:41Speaker 1: know they're working on like a small EV, but does
- 11:44Speaker 1: that mean they'll be introducing more hybrids and evs?
- 11:46Speaker 4: Well, exactly because logically you don't want to be paying
- 11:48Speaker 4: these fines. But what happens then, and this is what's
- 11:51Speaker 4: happened in Europe as well, car companies like Tesla that
- 11:53Speaker 4: only make electric vehicles will get credits. So what you
- 11:57Speaker 4: can then do is sell your credits to another car company,
- 12:00Speaker 4: so Forward can buy credits from Tesla as they're fine.
- 12:03Speaker 4: And this is how Tesla built its factory in Europe
- 12:06Speaker 4: they basically had Alfa Romeo or the Stalantes group paying
- 12:11Speaker 4: their credits to Tesla. Then Tesla used that money to
- 12:13Speaker 4: create a factory. So that is the sort of gist
- 12:17Speaker 4: of how it's going to work. Now, there are a
- 12:19Speaker 4: number of problems with this though, So.
- 12:21Speaker 1: One thing I will say is who created that rule?
- 12:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean this is what they're doing to try
- 12:27Speaker 4: and get people into cleaner vehicles, which I get it,
- 12:30Speaker 4: it makes sense, but to put it into context, passenger
- 12:33Speaker 4: cars and light commercial vehicles only contribute around ten percent
- 12:38Speaker 4: a little bit more than ten percent of Australia's total emissions.
- 12:41Speaker 4: So they are focusing very heavily on this one industry
- 12:45Speaker 4: and it doesn't seem they're putting much effort into anything else.
- 12:49Speaker 4: So the problem with this is that at the moment,
- 12:52Speaker 4: you really don't have the ability for people to buy
- 12:55Speaker 4: the vehicles that they need to be able to meet
- 12:59Speaker 4: this requirement. Putting this in from twenty twenty five, if
- 13:02Speaker 4: you're a tradee there is not an electric ute. Well
- 13:04Speaker 4: there is an electric ute, but it's rubbish. It's the LDV.
- 13:07Speaker 4: So you're saying to them, okay, well, now you're forcing
- 13:10Speaker 4: a car company to go Okay, well we're going to
- 13:12Speaker 4: increase the price of this car because a car company
- 13:15Speaker 4: isn't just going to take up all those costs. They're
- 13:17Speaker 4: going to pass them on to the.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Consumerw okay, so and they'll use that I mean that
- 13:20Speaker 1: extra cost is credits right.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean they're passing it on.
- 13:23Speaker 4: There's no way a car company is going to go, okay,
- 13:25Speaker 4: well we'll just absorb the cost of all this and
- 13:27Speaker 4: just continue selling cars. They'll either withdraw a car from
- 13:29Speaker 4: sale if they don't have a better engine, or alternatively,
- 13:32Speaker 4: they will charge more for the car knowing that it's
- 13:34Speaker 4: the only engine they have available. And you, as as
- 13:37Speaker 4: a person in Australia that is buying a car, are
- 13:40Speaker 4: either going to be forced buy an expensive EV which
- 13:42Speaker 4: is what they are at the moment compared to internal combustion.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Cars, or alternatively, you're.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Going to have to pay more for an internal combustion
- 13:51Speaker 4: car that doesn't meet these requirements. Now, the counter to
- 13:54Speaker 4: that is that these car companies sell vehicles like the
- 13:58Speaker 4: Ranger and the high Lux in countries that already have
- 14:01Speaker 4: these requirements. So there are engines they already produce in
- 14:05Speaker 4: other countries that meet these requirements. They will eventually bring
- 14:08Speaker 4: those two Australia because obviously they don't want.
- 14:10Speaker 2: To be fine.
- 14:11Speaker 4: But the extra cost of all of that is going
- 14:13Speaker 4: to get passed on to the consumers. So where they
- 14:15Speaker 4: say here that Australians will save around thousand dollars per
- 14:19Speaker 4: vehicle per year in fuel costs, who's saying that the
- 14:22Speaker 4: government is absolute bullshit. There is no way it is
- 14:27Speaker 4: going to I mean, these engines, yes, they are more efficient,
- 14:30Speaker 4: but they're not going to save your thousand dollars a year.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Then they further go on to claim that the average
- 14:36Speaker 4: new vehicle purchase purchaser in twenty twenty eight claim to
- 14:40Speaker 4: be looking at a saving of five seven hundred and
- 14:43Speaker 4: ten over five years. It is absolute nonsense. There is
- 14:45Speaker 4: no way you are going to be saving that much
- 14:48Speaker 4: more fuel. In addition to that, the extra cost of
- 14:51Speaker 4: the vehicle, which is going to be passed on to
- 14:53Speaker 4: you as a consumer, is not going to offset the
- 14:56Speaker 4: fuel saving either. So I just think that it's a
- 14:59Speaker 4: great idea. Yes, we need to make the automotive industry greener,
- 15:03Speaker 4: et cetera, et cetera, but at the moment, you don't
- 15:05Speaker 4: have vehicles for sale that are suitable for this if
- 15:08Speaker 4: you have a look at what Australians are buying, which
- 15:10Speaker 4: is utes and SUVs, and if you have a look
- 15:13Speaker 4: in the States as well. I mean their biggest seller
- 15:17Speaker 4: is the fine fifty huge, an enormous vehicle.
- 15:20Speaker 1: It's weird too because you're looking at I know this
- 15:23Speaker 1: sounds like a really basic thing to say, but I'm
- 15:25Speaker 1: used to it now. When you look at like the
- 15:28Speaker 1: consumption of what Europe are doing and how they're using
- 15:31Speaker 1: their cars, it's a lot different to how we use
- 15:34Speaker 1: our cars. And also what we consider, say a big
- 15:36Speaker 1: family car, to what Europe considers a big family car.
- 15:40Speaker 1: A fucking Volkswagen Golf over there is a family car. Yeah.
- 15:43Speaker 4: The issue is they're parroting all this stuff out of
- 15:45Speaker 4: Europe and it has absolutely no relation to what we
- 15:47Speaker 4: do when they go on a road trip over there. Yes,
- 15:50Speaker 4: they might travel longer distances, but you're traveling across built
- 15:53Speaker 4: up areas, and it makes sense that you need to
- 15:57Speaker 4: not be emitting as much through towns and cities across here.
- 16:00Speaker 4: If you're traveling longer distances, you're in the middle of nowhere.
- 16:03Speaker 4: A small vehicle doesn't make any sense. A small vehicle
- 16:06Speaker 4: doesn't toe. A small vehicle doesn't do a lot of
- 16:08Speaker 4: the things that the Australians that need to travel longer
- 16:11Speaker 4: distances are doing. So what you're doing now is penalizing
- 16:13Speaker 4: people who need to travel longer distances. In addition to that,
- 16:16Speaker 4: you then need to have a think about you've got
- 16:19Speaker 4: people that live in the country that is long distance driving,
- 16:22Speaker 4: but then in the cities you've also got people who
- 16:24Speaker 4: live further out because they can't afford to live closer
- 16:27Speaker 4: to the city. So these are people that are going
- 16:29Speaker 4: to be traveling longer distances by virtue it.
- 16:31Speaker 1: In regional towns the fact that they can't afford it.
- 16:33Speaker 4: So I just think that these are all and this
- 16:36Speaker 4: is exactly what we've seen in California right where you've
- 16:39Speaker 4: imposed all of these laws made it very hard to
- 16:41Speaker 4: buy the car that people actually want, so they're pushing
- 16:44Speaker 4: everyone into evs.
- 16:45Speaker 2: And what we witnessed over there.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Which will be in the video that's coming out, the
- 16:50Speaker 4: public charging network is an absolute clusterfuck. We were waiting
- 16:54Speaker 4: hours to get to a charger. When we finally got
- 16:57Speaker 4: to the charger, the charger was either faulty or slow
- 17:00Speaker 4: because they had so many cars using it, and this
- 17:02Speaker 4: is in a country that has incredible ev uptake. And
- 17:06Speaker 4: according to this report from last year, there are over
- 17:09Speaker 4: one hundred and thirty thousand public charges across the US,
- 17:13Speaker 4: which was a forty percent increase over twenty twenty, so
- 17:15Speaker 4: they are increasing. The private sector has also committed more
- 17:17Speaker 4: than one hundred and twenty billion dollars in domestic EV
- 17:20Speaker 4: and battery investments in the States, and it still isn't
- 17:24Speaker 4: enough at all to cater for the vehicles they're selling
- 17:27Speaker 4: at the moment. And their uptake of EVS is between
- 17:29Speaker 4: ten and twenty percent in new car sales, so you
- 17:32Speaker 4: can just imagine that when that gets hold over here,
- 17:36Speaker 4: we don't have the infrastructure to support it. If you
- 17:38Speaker 4: don't have charging at home, you have to go and
- 17:41Speaker 4: charge publicly, which is expensive and often doesn't work. So
- 17:45Speaker 4: I understand what they want to do. I just think
- 17:48Speaker 4: it's far too early for Australia. It's not very well
- 17:50Speaker 4: thought out for the cars that people are buying, and
- 17:53Speaker 4: I guarantee this will cost consumers more. There is absolutely
- 17:58Speaker 4: no sugarcoding that this will end up losting more money.
- 18:00Speaker 1: And this is an ev aid by the way, at
- 18:02Speaker 1: all by any means. It's I've always said, like, if
- 18:05Speaker 1: I had sort of a perfect garage and the money,
- 18:07Speaker 1: my daily commuter would probably be an ev It just
- 18:10Speaker 1: makes more sense.
- 18:11Speaker 4: But you're in a privileged position to make that happen. Exactly,
- 18:15Speaker 4: a lot of people can't afford a new car, and
- 18:17Speaker 4: if you can, you can't then afford like a Tesla
- 18:19Speaker 4: Model White, which is a family car, starts at seventy
- 18:22Speaker 4: thousand dollars. I just don't understand how they expect a
- 18:25Speaker 4: consumer to go, Okay, well, I was going to buy
- 18:27Speaker 4: a RAB four, but now I'm being forced into this thing,
- 18:31Speaker 4: which is double the price.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Well, surely hybrids would meet this kind of these Euro
- 18:37Speaker 1: sixty standards right.
- 18:38Speaker 4: Exactly, And you've seen how much demand there is for those,
- 18:41Speaker 4: So I don't know, I think that, and even for
- 18:44Speaker 4: a hybrid, if you look at the RAV four that
- 18:45Speaker 4: runs on ninety one rong, so that runs on the
- 18:48Speaker 4: dirty fuel that we have. I suspect if they do
- 18:51Speaker 4: switch to an engine that is capable of these new
- 18:54Speaker 4: emission standards, it is going to be more expensive, and
- 18:57Speaker 4: that car is ready feel gone up in price anyway.
- 18:59Speaker 1: But wait times as well, because I know I think Toyota.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I read some way at Toyota is slowing down their
- 19:04Speaker 1: production as well.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Yeah, So I just think that it will be interesting
- 19:09Speaker 4: to see how this goes.
- 19:11Speaker 2: For people who are privileged enough.
- 19:13Speaker 4: To be able to afford a new car and a
- 19:15Speaker 4: privileged enough to also be able to afford a more
- 19:18Speaker 4: expensive new car because of this, or an electric car,
- 19:20Speaker 4: I don't think they'll probably care all that much. But
- 19:22Speaker 4: what is coming around the corner is fuel subsidy disappearing
- 19:26Speaker 4: and people getting charged per kilometer, And I think also
- 19:30Speaker 4: around the corner will be the removal of subsidies for evs.
- 19:33Speaker 4: At the moment, there's been a huge groundswell for fleets
- 19:35Speaker 4: and people who are in jobs that allow them to
- 19:39Speaker 4: have an ovated lease rushing into evs. That we've seen
- 19:42Speaker 4: the second hand market tanking for evs because no one
- 19:45Speaker 4: wants to buy them secondhand. So I think that once
- 19:48Speaker 4: subsidies are removed, you're going to see the real state.
- 19:51Speaker 4: And that's what's happening in Europe at the moment. Subsidy
- 19:53Speaker 4: is getting removed everywhere and the private consumer is not
- 19:57Speaker 4: buying as many of these as they were previously because
- 20:00Speaker 4: the subsidies are.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Gone, So yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens.
- 20:04Speaker 2: And you know, I do feel for the people who
- 20:06Speaker 2: can't afford to keep up with all of this stuff
- 20:10Speaker 2: because it looks great on paper, but if you go
- 20:11Speaker 2: to the average Australian, it's going to end up costing
- 20:14Speaker 2: them more.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I think we'll get better quality fuel, we'll get cleaner fuel,
- 20:17Speaker 1: for sure. Obviously, hopefully your raptor will disintegrate and burn
- 20:24Speaker 1: down a cliff.
- 20:25Speaker 4: That will be leaving my hands at a time soon.
- 20:28Speaker 4: But I do agree. In the cities, like I used
- 20:31Speaker 4: to when our office was sort of near my place,
- 20:33Speaker 4: so used to walk to work and the thing I
- 20:35Speaker 4: hated the most was walking down Kingsway.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Walking And I did hate that. That was the first
- 20:40Speaker 2: thing I had Jesus.
- 20:41Speaker 1: It sounded like a fat man squashing grapes. It was
- 20:43Speaker 1: just your man, but was slapping away.
- 20:46Speaker 4: But walking down Kingsway, which is a four lane busy
- 20:49Speaker 4: commute into the city, it would be hard to breathe
- 20:52Speaker 4: because you had trucks.
- 20:53Speaker 2: And cars and all that sort of stuff.
- 20:54Speaker 4: So yeah, I totally agree that we need to be
- 20:56Speaker 4: stopping the shit that's spewing out of these cars in
- 20:59Speaker 4: city one hundred percent, So totally get it. I just
- 21:02Speaker 4: don't know that this is the correct way to be
- 21:05Speaker 4: going about it.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I wonder if, come late this year early next year,
- 21:10Speaker 1: if a lot of dealerships will be slashing the price
- 21:13Speaker 1: of their cars because they don't want them on the
- 21:16Speaker 1: showroom floor in a sense, because what they've got to
- 21:18Speaker 1: do is they don't meet Euro sixty standards. They're going
- 21:22Speaker 1: to have to somehow comply because it's not really going
- 21:26Speaker 1: to affect people who are you know, already driving around
- 21:31Speaker 1: in a you know, nineteen ninety two high lux or
- 21:33Speaker 1: something like that. They'll just continue doing that. Yeah, they
- 21:35Speaker 1: will just continue doing that, but.
- 21:36Speaker 4: It won't be like overnight, ye near to go sell
- 21:38Speaker 4: your car. But if you do want a new car,
- 21:40Speaker 4: you're going to have limited options compared to what we
- 21:42Speaker 4: have now, and those options that you do get will
- 21:44Speaker 4: be more expensive.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It doesn't feel as bad as it sounds. I just
- 21:48Speaker 1: can't imagine that.
- 21:49Speaker 2: It doesn't right now.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Yes, just wait until you see the cost increase of
- 21:54Speaker 4: these cars. And if you're one of the unfortunate people
- 21:57Speaker 4: that buys an ev without home charging, just you see
- 22:00Speaker 4: what's happening in the US happen here where you just
- 22:02Speaker 4: cannot charge the car.
- 22:03Speaker 1: What we saw during COVID that people are willing to
- 22:06Speaker 1: pay a shitload for above what a car is worth
- 22:10Speaker 1: and wait out far longer than what a car is
- 22:12Speaker 1: worth waiting for.
- 22:13Speaker 4: That was when interest rates were nothing. Now with the
- 22:17Speaker 4: cost of living, and it's going to take a while
- 22:19Speaker 4: to fix this cost of living issue. Even if they
- 22:21Speaker 4: reduce interest rates, you still have products that are very expensive.
- 22:25Speaker 4: And if you look at what's happening in the States,
- 22:27Speaker 4: we spoke about this off air. I was shocked that
- 22:30Speaker 4: a meal at McDonald's. So this was literally sausage and
- 22:33Speaker 4: ek McMuffin, hash brown and a coffee, two of those,
- 22:38Speaker 4: which is what we ordered when we were heading out
- 22:40Speaker 4: to do some filming, thirty six Australian dollars.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Which, by the way, Paul says, that's for two people.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Paul actually put all that food between two pieces of
- 22:47Speaker 1: bread and ate it like a sandwich.
- 22:49Speaker 2: There was no one else there.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that was no one else there.
- 22:51Speaker 4: But this is what I'm saying. It's that's what's happening
- 22:54Speaker 4: in the States at the moment. So you just wait
- 22:56Speaker 4: till that happens here here at the moment. Fuel is
- 22:58Speaker 4: very cheap. A lot of the stuff we have is
- 23:00Speaker 4: very cheap, so, but it's also expensive.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Like everyone's well starting to Yeah, people are starting to
- 23:07Speaker 1: rave on about and starting to catch on about. Hey,
- 23:10Speaker 1: forty bucks fifty bucks down at my local Woolworths or whatever.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Used to be like half a shop for the week
- 23:16Speaker 1: or a quarter of a shop. Now it's just like
- 23:18Speaker 1: getting the overnight basics.
- 23:20Speaker 2: It gets you the dishwasher tablets.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and these guys, and by the way, these guys
- 23:23Speaker 1: are now pulling in record profits like never before.
- 23:27Speaker 4: The same with all the electricity companies. Yeah, so everyone's
- 23:30Speaker 4: making money.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Except there's greed there. Yeah. Speaking of the ev market,
- 23:35Speaker 1: the Evy game, the successor to the was it. The
- 23:39Speaker 1: I eight, which is called the I sixteen was looking promising,
- 23:44Speaker 1: It was looking great. It was like we got a
- 23:47Speaker 1: glimpse of it, and then things got a bit who
- 23:50Speaker 1: hard during COVID tough times, and then they've pulled the
- 23:53Speaker 1: pin on the whole project, which we're just looking at
- 23:55Speaker 1: this right now. This God, this is a great looking car.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, look, I think so obviously I sixteen
- 24:03Speaker 4: is I eight times two. But I think that the
- 24:06Speaker 4: I eight is still a sensational car, and I think
- 24:10Speaker 4: they're super cheap at the moment of secondhand vehicles, and
- 24:12Speaker 4: I just love the look of them. They're really fun
- 24:14Speaker 4: to drive, they're fast, they're just cool.
- 24:16Speaker 1: And whatever happened to them, by the way, because they
- 24:18Speaker 1: didn't sell great, they didn't make it. Did they not
- 24:20Speaker 1: make many?
- 24:21Speaker 4: They didn't sell great, But it is I stand by it.
- 24:23Speaker 4: It is still great, a great vehicle to buy today
- 24:26Speaker 4: because it is just cool.
- 24:27Speaker 1: It's beautiful.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Yeah, holds up this I sixteen just takes it to
- 24:30Speaker 4: another level. It looks sensational. So basically, the guy that
- 24:34Speaker 4: designed it, the design chief for the BMW brand, said
- 24:38Speaker 4: that it was another good kept secret. Prior to becoming
- 24:42Speaker 4: BMW's design boss, he was the head of design for
- 24:46Speaker 4: the M division and he basically was deeply involved in this.
- 24:51Speaker 4: And he said that the outside and the inside were
- 24:53Speaker 4: totally finished and it was ready to go, but COVID
- 24:55Speaker 4: hit and they canceled the project, and he didn't divulge
- 24:58Speaker 4: much more detail. But yeah, just such a good looking car,
- 25:02Speaker 4: and I do hope that this finally gets another life
- 25:06Speaker 4: at some point. But they were basically going to recycle
- 25:08Speaker 4: the body, the sort of composite skin that the I
- 25:11Speaker 4: eight had, so it didn't need a huge amount of,
- 25:15Speaker 4: you know, key architectural changes. So I just think it's
- 25:19Speaker 4: a it's a cool looking thing and unfortunately it'll likely
- 25:23Speaker 4: never see the light of day.
- 25:24Speaker 1: The rear looks amazing, like it does look very concepty,
- 25:27Speaker 1: but one that they could easily pull off, you know,
- 25:30Speaker 1: the I eight. We saw that in the I eight.
- 25:32Speaker 1: It was very much what the hell is this? And yeah,
- 25:37Speaker 1: they brought it out and it's a it's a fantastic
- 25:40Speaker 1: looking car. I've got Yeah, I've got nothing bad to say.
- 25:43Speaker 1: The wheels are a crazy call. I'd hope that keep those,
- 25:46Speaker 1: you know, like the different orange wheels at the back,
- 25:48Speaker 1: at the rear.
- 25:49Speaker 2: It just looks bloody awesome. Yeah, absolutely awesome.
- 25:52Speaker 1: What a shame. Yeah. What else got droop fed to
- 25:56Speaker 1: us during the week. The R S six GT.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Oh.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Yeah, that's an interesting one because what Audi is now
- 26:05Speaker 4: doing is all of their future cars that have even
- 26:09Speaker 4: numbers are going to be electric, and then the odd
- 26:12Speaker 4: numbers are going to be not electric. So the RS
- 26:17Speaker 4: six is going to become an electric vehicle. So this
- 26:21Speaker 4: is the last time you'll see an RS six that
- 26:23Speaker 4: is not not sort of fully electric and the GT
- 26:28Speaker 4: is basically the sign off for that vehicle. They'll do
- 26:30Speaker 4: six hundred and sixty units in total. Australia is going
- 26:34Speaker 4: to get about twenty of them, and it has this
- 26:35Speaker 4: incredible designs that it just looks absolutely bloody unreal. So
- 26:40Speaker 4: in terms of what is different here, so reworked Audi
- 26:43Speaker 4: Quatro Sport differential for the rear axle to make it
- 26:47Speaker 4: a little bit more agile and rear biased, a new
- 26:51Speaker 4: coil over suspension tune. We don't know pricing just yet
- 26:56Speaker 4: for Australia, but basically they're saying that it's got a
- 26:58Speaker 4: higher spring rate, triple adjustable dampers, stiffer stabilizers so it's
- 27:03Speaker 4: going to be bloody firm, and then ride heights being lowered.
- 27:06Speaker 4: So they've just gone to absolute town on this.
- 27:10Speaker 1: The artwork kind of looks great too. I've got nothing
- 27:13Speaker 1: bad to say about how this car looks. It Just
- 27:16Speaker 1: the speaker system in it just pops everything. The wheels
- 27:19Speaker 1: look at that.
- 27:20Speaker 2: It is a stunner of a thing.
- 27:21Speaker 4: So yeah, look, I still think this is one of
- 27:25Speaker 4: the best cars on the market today in terms of
- 27:28Speaker 4: just an overall performance daily driver. You can drive this
- 27:32Speaker 4: daily and then when you want to just unleash it,
- 27:36Speaker 4: it unleashes like it is. It is such a good car.
- 27:38Speaker 4: So yeah, I'm a big fan of them.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Lexus GX. Should we talk let's talk it speaking of
- 27:45Speaker 1: good looking cars. Wow, we the Lexus GX.
- 27:51Speaker 2: So let me give you just a bit of a
- 27:53Speaker 2: background on this car.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Tell me a little bit about the background. Power way,
- 27:56Speaker 1: tell me a little bit about it.
- 27:58Speaker 4: So this vehicle sits on a platform called TNGA dash F. Now,
- 28:03Speaker 4: the reason that's important is because the three hundred series
- 28:06Speaker 4: land Cruise that sits on the same platform, so does
- 28:09Speaker 4: the Lexus lex. So the big big suv that's shared
- 28:12Speaker 4: with the three hundred, now, the new land Cruise a
- 28:15Speaker 4: Prato is also on TNGAF. So the complication to that
- 28:19Speaker 4: is that all of these vehicles share the same wheelbase.
- 28:21Speaker 4: They have slight differences in terms of length, but that's
- 28:23Speaker 4: just due to the body design. And it then means
- 28:26Speaker 4: that you've got the same vehicle but different pricing points.
- 28:32Speaker 4: So the reason that's a bit of a complication is
- 28:34Speaker 4: that the land Cruise a Prito, which was always under
- 28:36Speaker 4: the bigger big boy land Creuse are in terms of
- 28:39Speaker 4: pricing and engines, et cetera, is now the same vehicle
- 28:43Speaker 4: with the exception of the engine.
- 28:44Speaker 2: And because you.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Now have to have four of these, you've got to
- 28:47Speaker 4: have a land Cruise, a Prito, a GX which is
- 28:49Speaker 4: the land cruise, a Prato alternative, then.
- 28:52Speaker 2: A three hundred.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Three hundred series, and then alexis Lex, yes, which is
- 28:57Speaker 4: top t You have to have enough differentia between them
- 29:01Speaker 4: so that you can actually provide value because the guy
- 29:03Speaker 4: that buying a three hundred series doesn't want the guy
- 29:06Speaker 4: in the Prado with a V six diesel as well,
- 29:08Speaker 4: because why would you spend an extra fifty grand and
- 29:10Speaker 4: a three hundred series.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Now I said to you before, I was like, so
- 29:13Speaker 1: what's the difference between the GX and the Alex and
- 29:15Speaker 1: you gave me a very sly level. Then I pulled
- 29:19Speaker 1: my pants up.
- 29:20Speaker 2: So here's here's the issue.
- 29:22Speaker 4: Right, So this uses the same twin turbo V six
- 29:25Speaker 4: petrol engine that's in the Lex, except it's detuned.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Right and so, and then by the way they've taken
- 29:29Speaker 1: the V eight now is gone right.
- 29:32Speaker 4: And a bit of background to the GX. This was
- 29:34Speaker 4: available I think for three generations in the US, and
- 29:37Speaker 4: the last generation of this was a V eight petrol,
- 29:39Speaker 4: so look the same as a Prato pretty much, but
- 29:42Speaker 4: it had a V eight petrol as opposed to the
- 29:44Speaker 4: POxy four cylinder diesel. It's in the Prato, which it
- 29:46Speaker 4: will then carry over into this next generation, which is
- 29:49Speaker 4: just comical.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Okay.
- 29:51Speaker 4: So yeah, the GX is I think probably the best
- 29:56Speaker 4: value you're going to get in terms of luxury, off road,
- 29:59Speaker 4: K capable, and punchy, so it's got all of those things.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Still get the V six twin turbo.
- 30:07Speaker 4: It's not huge money, so we don't know pricing just yet,
- 30:09Speaker 4: but it'll likely kick off at around one hundred and
- 30:11Speaker 4: ten thousand before on roads. It's going to come in
- 30:13Speaker 4: three specs, so it's going to be Luxury, overtrail and sports.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Luxury overtrail is my favorite. So this is basically their
- 30:20Speaker 4: off road focused version, comes with all terrains. It's got
- 30:22Speaker 4: a very sort of aggressive off road. Look, there's a
- 30:24Speaker 4: color there that's very reminiscent of Sandy Torp, which is
- 30:28Speaker 4: the seventy series Hero color.
- 30:30Speaker 1: I think that's the one they're peddling in all media
- 30:32Speaker 1: at the moment too. That's their big media car.
- 30:34Speaker 4: Yeah, and they've even thought about stuff. So you've got
- 30:36Speaker 4: integrated TOBAR with brake controllers that comes standard from the factory.
- 30:41Speaker 4: Down in front of the overtrailer, you've got a section
- 30:44Speaker 4: that can be removed to install stuff like a winch.
- 30:47Speaker 4: They've thought about modification because in the States the GX
- 30:51Speaker 4: is heavily modified by people for off road driving, so
- 30:53Speaker 4: they wanted to give you one straight out of the box.
- 30:56Speaker 4: Comes with EKDSS, which is a new version of KDSS
- 30:59Speaker 4: that's electronic controlled, which gives you really good wheel articulation.
- 31:03Speaker 2: So on paper, it's great in terms of the way
- 31:05Speaker 2: that it drives.
- 31:06Speaker 4: We had a chance to drive this across some of
- 31:07Speaker 4: the roads in just outside Tucson, and not many corners,
- 31:12Speaker 4: so I can't really comment on how it handles. But
- 31:13Speaker 4: the engine is fantastic in a straight line. It's got
- 31:16Speaker 4: plenty of punch. The interior really nice luxury appointments. Looks
- 31:20Speaker 4: different to typical Lexus a lot of straight lines.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Very boxy, isn't it. And I don't have a problem
- 31:24Speaker 1: with that at all. I think that was my main
- 31:26Speaker 1: problem with Lexus in the past. I remember when you
- 31:29Speaker 1: asked me once what do you think of Lexus in general?
- 31:31Speaker 1: And I said, it just feels like an old man
- 31:33Speaker 1: chucking the golf clubs in the back of the car.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it's changed now. They're really trying to bring that down.
- 31:38Speaker 1: I think they've achieved that with this too. I think
- 31:40Speaker 1: they really have it. It's boxy, it's there is nothing
- 31:45Speaker 1: swoopy that's been carried over from the past, previous models.
- 31:50Speaker 1: This is it's a beautiful looking car, and it's still
- 31:54Speaker 1: it's still kind of meaty, you know, it's still aggressive,
- 31:57Speaker 1: and it does have that off road stance about it.
- 31:59Speaker 1: It looks like it could still go anywhere. My question
- 32:02Speaker 1: is this is a lot of these four wheel drives
- 32:05Speaker 1: go it's a great off road, and they're a bit
- 32:08Speaker 1: sort of firm or whatever on road or vice versa.
- 32:10Speaker 1: How's this one going like as an off road and
- 32:13Speaker 1: on road like package.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Well, they've got anti roll bars which can be disconnected
- 32:18Speaker 4: when it's off road automatically. But this overtrail also gets
- 32:23Speaker 4: adaptive damping, and so does the top speck. The entry
- 32:25Speaker 4: level on twenties, I thought road, Well, the top speck
- 32:28Speaker 4: is on twenty two, so I don't know what that's like.
- 32:30Speaker 4: We didn't get a chance to drive that, but yeah,
- 32:33Speaker 4: look for and the other complication again is the roads
- 32:36Speaker 4: were quite smooth where we were. I really need to
- 32:38Speaker 4: see this in Australia to see what it's like. But
- 32:41Speaker 4: it did have a couple of negatives though, So that
- 32:43Speaker 4: has the same issue that the Rounded series has, which
- 32:45Speaker 4: is the second road doesn't slide, which means you don't
- 32:48Speaker 4: really get the opportunity to give you third row much room,
- 32:51Speaker 4: and as a result of that, it's not a great
- 32:53Speaker 4: spot for adults. You also can't get the overtrail in
- 32:56Speaker 4: seven seats. They do a six seat configuration as well,
- 32:59Speaker 4: which again you can't do. The other thing as well
- 33:02Speaker 4: is that this comes with a four thousand kilo brake
- 33:04Speaker 4: towing capacity. In the States, the overtrail, we won't get
- 33:08Speaker 4: that in Australia. I don't think they'll probably bump that
- 33:10Speaker 4: down to thirty five hundred. So yeah, there's just a
- 33:13Speaker 4: couple of sort of odd, sort of little bits and
- 33:16Speaker 4: pieces there. But for the most part, this is actually
- 33:20Speaker 4: a fantastic vehicle and I'm just really excited to see
- 33:24Speaker 4: it here. From what I can see, it is going
- 33:26Speaker 4: to be sold out for a couple of years as
- 33:27Speaker 4: soon as they launch. So if you are actually interested
- 33:30Speaker 4: in one of these, I'd be going down and putting
- 33:32Speaker 4: your money down.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Lexus is predicted.
- 33:34Speaker 2: We interviewed the boss of Lexus and he goes, they're
- 33:38Speaker 2: predicting twenty percent of their sales volume is going to
- 33:40Speaker 2: be overtrail. I'm like, I don't think so.
- 33:42Speaker 4: I think it's going to be more like eighty percent,
- 33:44Speaker 4: which means they would have forward planned two or three
- 33:47Speaker 4: years ago to order only twenty percent of the allocation
- 33:49Speaker 4: and overtrail. And if most people are going to be
- 33:51Speaker 4: buying that, it's going to be sold out virtually straight away.
- 33:55Speaker 1: That could be a deliberate he could be underselling that deliberately.
- 33:58Speaker 4: I do hope so, because I think this will be
- 34:01Speaker 4: incredibly popular and they're just going to have that issue
- 34:04Speaker 4: where it sells out because the problem they have with
- 34:06Speaker 4: the Prado, they're only launching that with a carryover effectively
- 34:10Speaker 4: two point eight leader diesel, and that thing is fairly gutless.
- 34:12Speaker 4: In the Pridor at the moment, this will be heavier
- 34:15Speaker 4: and they're putting the same engine in it, So I
- 34:17Speaker 4: think everyone's going to be rushing in to get this
- 34:19Speaker 4: as opposed to the Prato. If towing and that sort
- 34:22Speaker 4: of stuff is important.
- 34:23Speaker 1: To them, they've got plastic side steps on that.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:27Speaker 4: See the concept had rock sliders, which looked unreal. I
- 34:31Speaker 4: have a feeling rock sliders will be available as an
- 34:34Speaker 4: option because they have a lot of accessories you can
- 34:37Speaker 4: get with this. And I did notice those plastic side
- 34:39Speaker 4: steps out very cheap.
- 34:41Speaker 1: The Raptor's got like a metal ye a black metal right, Ye.
- 34:45Speaker 1: That would be better off doing that.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 34:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 1: It does look good though, doesn't it. Those those sign
- 34:51Speaker 1: marrias are almost a little bit FJ cruise, Yeah, exactly,
- 34:54Speaker 1: square sort of things.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Can I just also ask for your opinion on this?
- 35:00Speaker 1: Actually yeah, I would put that away. There's probably a
- 35:02Speaker 1: cream for that. I'd go see a doctor soon. Did
- 35:05Speaker 1: you get that off, Donner? What's that?
- 35:07Speaker 2: I'll say it's similar in color?
- 35:09Speaker 1: Oh God Jesus.
- 35:10Speaker 4: But what do you think about my cowboy hat which
- 35:14Speaker 4: I got in in Scottsdale, fitted for my head and
- 35:19Speaker 4: accessorized for my head.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Do you think I'd be okay wearing that in public?
- 35:26Speaker 1: And many men did? You? Fuck? So, give give us
- 35:29Speaker 1: another look. We're going to put that on. We're putting
- 35:31Speaker 1: that up.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it's broad back mountain ball.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Did you actually buy that? And has your wife seen that? Yeah?
- 35:42Speaker 2: She loves it? Does she? Well she saw it last night.
- 35:44Speaker 2: It was the only thing I was wearing.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Did she get the last sue out?
- 35:49Speaker 4: I don't know what that means, but yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 35:52Speaker 4: in Scott style, the mini Lau.
- 35:56Speaker 2: That everyone was wearing. So I brought it back with me.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Did you did you? You drive the g X with that?
- 36:02Speaker 2: Yes, ma'am.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Let's just pitch your pool right now. It is a
- 36:05Speaker 1: little cowboy hard donna next to him, wheel drive, smells
- 36:10Speaker 1: like a steak and seats burty bad roll you Mirrow.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Speaking of cool stuff, watch out a little paper, A
- 36:20Speaker 1: little package for you here, and a lot of it's illegal,
- 36:23Speaker 1: so please don't talk about this the smoking stuff on
- 36:27Speaker 1: on the air. But a little little little package from
- 36:30Speaker 1: our good friends at Machines. Plus. We got some stickers. Yeah, yeah, we.
- 36:37Speaker 2: Got some stick while on the raptor Yeah.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Cups.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Oh nice T shirt as well.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Your T shirt there you go, triple extra large moo
- 36:48Speaker 1: moo size just for you.
- 36:50Speaker 2: I like that. But look at Theseus has been a
- 36:53Speaker 2: busy boy.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Gus has been a busy boy, Big ups to Gussie machines.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Plus these cups look amazing. Yeah that oh black and
- 37:01Speaker 2: white guys.
- 37:02Speaker 1: So there's two there, ones for the Sydney Car Expert Office,
- 37:05Speaker 1: the other ones for the Melbourne one. Put next to
- 37:08Speaker 1: you go cutting trophies or whatever the fuck you want.
- 37:11Speaker 2: To clear some room. I've got quite a few of those.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, there's such big achievements.
- 37:16Speaker 4: Yeah, it's got to take a win review you can
- 37:19Speaker 4: in between getting sued.
- 37:20Speaker 1: So yeah, so that's that's our latest stuff from machines plots.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Are we giving some of this away?
- 37:27Speaker 1: I reckon, we give some away? And there's something I
- 37:29Speaker 1: want to talk to you about off are okay? Should
- 37:31Speaker 1: we read some questions? Yeah, let's do it. Oh you
- 37:33Speaker 1: know what I was going to say. I've been so
- 37:34Speaker 1: bloody busy. I haven't driven anything. I did sort of
- 37:37Speaker 1: spend a couple of days in the ConA Hybrid just
- 37:39Speaker 1: out of interest. It was pretty fun. But I did.
- 37:43Speaker 1: I did spend some time in seventy nine series actually
- 37:46Speaker 1: expect out.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Oh it's actually got some accessories.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh that's got a pie warmer in there. You
- 37:52Speaker 1: love that.
- 37:53Speaker 2: It's actually got the fridge.
- 37:55Speaker 1: It's got the shelving unit. It's got the I think
- 37:58Speaker 1: it's called a Dahady pop up tent up the top.
- 38:01Speaker 2: It's awesome.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that is nice. That's wild, isn't it. It's just
- 38:05Speaker 1: very nice those dirty life rooms to the big wheels
- 38:10Speaker 1: on it. I like the color too, Yeah yeah, same,
- 38:14Speaker 1: that sort of silvery gun metal gray ericons the sweet spot.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Mind you you can't go past a sandy talk.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. Probably needs the The front grill is
- 38:25Speaker 1: going to be redone on that too, like the but I.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Don't hate that.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Nah.
- 38:28Speaker 2: I don't know about the crime though.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Nah. Well that's good that that particular one's getting that
- 38:33Speaker 1: ripped off and something brand new. Who was it? That's
- 38:36Speaker 1: that's the good people that ignite h Q. Oh yeah,
- 38:39Speaker 1: you're looking at the new spokesperson.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Good for they.
- 38:43Speaker 1: We should read some questions. Oh here we go, all right,
- 38:46Speaker 1: some some have come through. Where's the sponsors? Well this
- 38:51Speaker 1: comes from Intrigues Coop. Where's the sponsors? Well, if you
- 38:54Speaker 1: want to sponsor the show, feel free. We're looking into it. Yeah,
- 38:58Speaker 1: we're looking into it. Look in all honesty, I can't
- 39:01Speaker 1: be but like a lot of people want to talk
- 39:03Speaker 1: to us about this.
- 39:03Speaker 2: He had some trademark lawyers who wanted to sponsor the show.
- 39:06Speaker 1: That's true. That's true. How much money was spent with them? Yes,
- 39:12Speaker 1: by the way, there's another podcast out there with a
- 39:15Speaker 1: very similar name. If you'd like to buyers. We're clearly
- 39:20Speaker 1: putting out a better product than you. Will Trevor ever
- 39:24Speaker 1: come back? No, No, he won't, no fucking way, if
- 39:30Speaker 1: I have anything to do with it, he will be back. Yes,
- 39:34Speaker 1: he got off. Do you know what, though, he'll be
- 39:36Speaker 1: back in the sense that like we'll rock up to
- 39:39Speaker 1: record one of these and he'll be Holy guys, there's money.
- 39:42Speaker 5: I've just come back from CCS and the complain and
- 39:45Speaker 5: bloody poling or.
- 39:48Speaker 1: What did he show off the other day? Something ridiculous?
- 39:51Speaker 1: Do you know what I want to ask Trevor about
- 39:53Speaker 1: the artist who we've spoken about before? Will I Am?
- 39:56Speaker 1: Was that? That is it cs CSC Yes, and launched
- 40:01Speaker 1: an app and it's I can't remember what it's called.
- 40:03Speaker 1: It's called like drivers sound, which, by the way, will
- 40:06Speaker 1: I Am Drivers We own that word, so what will
- 40:09Speaker 1: be fucking yeah?
- 40:09Speaker 2: And someone owns the other word, Yeah, someone owns the
- 40:12Speaker 2: word word.
- 40:14Speaker 1: So it's basically it's an app and they did it
- 40:17Speaker 1: in the Mercedes EV And the way you drive kind
- 40:24Speaker 1: of collaborate, like talks to the sound of the car,
- 40:27Speaker 1: not like engine and stuff. It's like dance music or whatever.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Will go like if you're turning a corner real really
- 40:33Speaker 1: quickly when you accelerate out like.
- 40:37Speaker 2: It's this sounds very annoying.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so this one this question. If you had
- 40:42Speaker 1: to pick one car to drive for the rest of
- 40:43Speaker 1: your life, what would it be? I'll drive the you go?
- 40:49Speaker 1: What would you drive? No, you go? What would you drive?
- 40:52Speaker 2: Just leave the jokes to me Champ?
- 40:54Speaker 1: Sorry, of course, good question.
- 40:56Speaker 4: I reckon an RS six an R It would just
- 41:00Speaker 4: be the ultimate. It's good for family, good for going fast,
- 41:03Speaker 4: and just good for all sorts of fun stuff.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Is that the wagon?
- 41:06Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 41:07Speaker 1: Yeah? When are the Epps going up on YouTube? Slash
- 41:09Speaker 1: you porn? Wow? We do need to start checking these
- 41:15Speaker 1: up on YouTube to be honest. It's got to happen.
- 41:17Speaker 1: It's just made it just fucking time. What do you
- 41:19Speaker 1: people think I do.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Just social media? Got to do it?
- 41:22Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that guy? What are the best cars you've
- 41:25Speaker 1: driven that immediately made you want to buy one?
- 41:28Speaker 2: I bought two. The Supra. I drove that and I
- 41:31Speaker 2: thought I want to buy one, and then the Raptor
- 41:33Speaker 2: as well, drive that, and thought, yeah, I'm going to
- 41:34Speaker 2: buy one.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Actually, you didn't even drive the model the model, y
- 41:38Speaker 1: you just bought that, correct? Yeah, that was for my
- 41:40Speaker 1: wife pretty much. Yeah, G two three rs. But then
- 41:43Speaker 1: I realized I couldn't buy one. Yeah, if that means
- 41:46Speaker 1: the mission laws, what's that? Yeah, I wonder if that
- 41:49Speaker 1: falls under specific sports cars like niche sports cars. Okay, yeah,
- 41:54Speaker 1: if you had to pick one car to drive for
- 41:56Speaker 1: the rest of your life, yeah, fuck, I'd probably just
- 41:58Speaker 1: pick an old nine to eleven. Yeah. We had a
- 42:02Speaker 1: lot of requests for people to bring your stalker on
- 42:05Speaker 1: the pod. Which one, Well, Donna, this one is the
- 42:10Speaker 1: one that I fucking love this.
- 42:14Speaker 5: Ah, this is so good that Paul Marinarus source Marrick
- 42:19Speaker 5: flog by the way, look, I know this is a
- 42:22Speaker 5: guy that's been giving you a ship, but credit where
- 42:24Speaker 5: credits due, Marinara Sauce.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Marrick is one of the funniest I've heard.
- 42:31Speaker 3: And his little pussy hum a drag queen chariot. That's
- 42:37Speaker 3: so good. Did you see where's the King of the
- 42:41Speaker 3: Belenz Peeni Paul should be pussy Paul.
- 42:44Speaker 4: But anyway, but then I did google his name, yeah,
- 42:47Speaker 4: her name, and did you see what came up?
- 42:50Speaker 1: No?
- 42:51Speaker 2: God, let me show you.
- 42:53Speaker 1: In the meantime, I'm going to read this out. So
- 42:54Speaker 1: someone's been, someone's been what do you call it? Hating
- 42:58Speaker 1: on you, patrol or whatever? So where's that Paul Marinara
- 43:02Speaker 1: Marck flog in his little pussy hummer drag queen chariot
- 43:06Speaker 1: give us a kiss? Love? And then where's the king
- 43:10Speaker 1: of balleens Peenie Paul bagtorship Canning Toyota? Again? Are we
- 43:14Speaker 1: you stay snuggled up with your man in your butt
- 43:17Speaker 1: plug raptor? I've always said that car probably needs a
- 43:23Speaker 1: bonus butt plug? Uh? Where where's fist and Marrick, biggest
- 43:29Speaker 1: fucking crook liar under the sun bed. He's in his
- 43:33Speaker 1: homo raptor playing doctors and nurses with qui. Okay, this
- 43:38Speaker 1: guy is proper. What is it with him and gay people?
- 43:45Speaker 1: Oh Jesus Christ, he looks destest ship. Oh my god,
- 43:49Speaker 1: it's a woman. It's a man turned woman. Can I
- 43:53Speaker 1: talk about this? Okay? So how bearded overweight Matthew Avery
- 43:58Speaker 1: din became a beautiful, full blonde Sona. So the guy,
- 44:03Speaker 1: oh okay, so the guy who's been rubbishing Marinara Marrick
- 44:08Speaker 1: over here and saying all this like, go back in
- 44:10Speaker 1: your home, ohammer Is was a beautiful bearded man with
- 44:15Speaker 1: some sort of hobo and he was slash.
- 44:17Speaker 2: She became beautiful.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Well, hang on, I would say that beard is beautiful.
- 44:21Speaker 1: It's lovely. So he had quite a bushy, fucking pew
- 44:24Speaker 1: patch going on, and then he became a beautiful blonde
- 44:30Speaker 1: called Sona. And I tell you what, not half bad.
- 44:35Speaker 1: I'd go, eh, I know you would, you definitely would.
- 44:40Speaker 1: You'd wear the cowboy hat for her. Sure, Holy Jesus,
- 44:44Speaker 1: he's made quite the transformation, hasn't he.
- 44:47Speaker 2: I'm fairly certain that that is the same person. So
- 44:50Speaker 2: there you go.
- 44:51Speaker 1: I'll tell you why, Sona, Matthew whatever, reach out and
- 44:54Speaker 1: I'll send you some driver's show merchant and naked photo
- 44:56Speaker 1: of Pavlo and his address.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:02Speaker 1: That was that. What a fun episode. Yeah, it was
- 45:04Speaker 1: serious and it was sort of It was very serious.
- 45:10Speaker 1: This is what happens when I do research. Not a
- 45:12Speaker 1: good idea. So Trevor is probably going to be on
- 45:15Speaker 1: the next one. We're working on a few things. And
- 45:17Speaker 1: by the way, there is a merch drop. It is
- 45:19Speaker 1: going to happen. I know we're going to be getting
- 45:21Speaker 1: any where. We're talking air freshners. Now we're talking t shirts.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Let's talk off air, because I want to know what
- 45:26Speaker 1: you I've got an idea about this situation. I just
- 45:29Speaker 1: just want to run it past you. If not, we'll
- 45:30Speaker 1: just fucking give.

- 45:34Speaker 4: if you're listening to this, we would love it if
- 45:36Speaker 4: you can. Obviously not while you're driving, but set yourself
- 45:39Speaker 4: a mental reminder and say, you know, hey, Siri, remind
- 45:43Speaker 4: me to leave a rating for the Driver's Show. Leave
- 45:46Speaker 4: a five star rating that please, because it would massively
- 45:50Speaker 4: help us. That would be amazing if you could do that.
