- 0:26Speaker 1: It is time to believe your worries outside and laugh
- 0:29Speaker 1: with us inside the Treehouse. I'm Dan ol Malley, along
- 0:33Speaker 1: with Trey Trenholm and today's special guest inside the Treehouse
- 0:38Speaker 1: from OZ in the City, North Texas's only all volunteer,
- 0:45Speaker 1: no kill animal rescue group. That may be the only
- 0:49Speaker 1: time I get it right all damn day today, but
- 0:51Speaker 1: I've got it right once. Uh, Director of marketing and
- 0:54Speaker 1: board member from Paws in the City, Ashley. Hi, Ashley, Hello,
- 0:59Speaker 1: welcome inside treehouse again.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Thanks for having me.
- 1:04Speaker 1: We are going to talk about the goings on and
- 1:07Speaker 1: the big event coming up or pause in the city
- 1:10Speaker 1: known as Verma Fest a little bit later. But before
- 1:14Speaker 1: we dig into that nonsense, We're gonna start with some serious,
- 1:19Speaker 1: serious nonsense. Ashley. Are you because it's not polite to
- 1:25Speaker 1: ask a lady her age, but are you gen z
- 1:28Speaker 1: or are you millennial? I know you're not gen X
- 1:31Speaker 1: like like old men me and Trey.
- 1:33Speaker 3: No.
- 1:34Speaker 2: So I'm thirty thirty seven.
- 1:38Speaker 4: My sister, my oldest sister is gen X and then
- 1:42Speaker 4: the next oldest is right in the middle.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Okay, and then there's me.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Gotcha, So you're millennial? You're millennial?
- 1:49Speaker 2: Yeah, technically, yeah.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Well, and that's fine because I just I didn't know
- 1:54Speaker 1: for sure how old you were, because Trey and I
- 1:57Speaker 1: are going to pick on gen Z some here, and
- 1:59Speaker 1: I didn't know if you were going to be defending
- 2:02Speaker 1: your generation or if you're going to be dog piling
- 2:04Speaker 1: with us. So since you're a millennial, you can dogpile
- 2:07Speaker 1: with us.
- 2:07Speaker 2: You know, I'm good with self deprecating dogpile too.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It's fine, okay, cool, trust me, we're gen X. We'll
- 2:14Speaker 1: find something to complain about with you. So in a
- 2:19Speaker 1: previous episode, Tray and I were talking about how I've
- 2:22Speaker 1: been trying to turn over a new leaf and not
- 2:25Speaker 1: pick on gen Z as much, but they're making it
- 2:27Speaker 1: real hard hard, And now they're making it even more
- 2:30Speaker 1: difficult because gen Z wants everyone to stop using the
- 2:37Speaker 1: thumbs up emoji now because while the rest of the
- 2:40Speaker 1: world sees it as a simple affirmative like got it
- 2:44Speaker 1: or good job, cool, just message received type thing, gen
- 2:49Speaker 1: Z interprets the thumbs up emoji as a passive as
- 2:55Speaker 1: a passive aggressive emote. They see it as an attack
- 3:00Speaker 1: on their existence. If you give them a thumbs up.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Is there anything that's not passive aggressive to them anymore.
- 3:07Speaker 1: No, I think it's all passive aggressive to them.
- 3:09Speaker 3: It's like my mom, Yeah, they see it as a
- 3:13Speaker 3: middle finger.
- 3:15Speaker 2: So what do they see a middle finger as?
- 3:17Speaker 3: Like, well, it's and I've tried explaining to them, like
- 3:20Speaker 3: at least with with with us, if we want to
- 3:22Speaker 3: send you a middle finger, we'll just send you a middle.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Yeah, there's literally an emotive for that.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Yeah, we're we're very clear cut in our communications as
- 3:30Speaker 1: older people. We don't have time for passive aggressive nonsense
- 3:33Speaker 1: unless it's in a romantic relationship.
- 3:35Speaker 3: But then again, well they're also bothered by ellipses.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Oh that's right, I did see that a while back.
- 3:45Speaker 1: What was their problem with ellipses? Tray?
- 3:47Speaker 3: Oh, what's their problem with everything?
- 3:49Speaker 2: Passive aggressive? I feel like probably.
- 3:52Speaker 3: They're just they're coddled and sensitive.
- 3:54Speaker 4: And yeah, I know there was like a big wave
- 3:58Speaker 4: about canceling eminem and I'm like, you.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Know, I don't good luck with that?
- 4:02Speaker 2: You good luck? Yeah that didn't work.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Out well, gen X gen X will defend eminem all day.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm pretty sure everybody my mom my mom was
- 4:12Speaker 4: even like, uh, that's dumb.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Yeah, he's fine. I remember seeing something about the ellipses,
- 4:18Speaker 1: and I didn't know if they had a problem with
- 4:20Speaker 1: it or if it was just another way for them
- 4:24Speaker 1: to tell if someone's old because of the fact that
- 4:27Speaker 1: they use the ellipses. I love the ellipses. I love
- 4:31Speaker 1: the three periods.
- 4:32Speaker 2: That's ageism.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I feel like, uh, but yeah, they're they're they're not.
- 4:39Speaker 1: They're not enjoying the thumbs up emoji because it's too
- 4:42Speaker 1: passive aggressive for them. But that's not all. It's not
- 4:44Speaker 1: all just hand gestures when it comes to gen Z,
- 4:47Speaker 1: because they're also having trouble with coffee.
- 4:54Speaker 2: As I drink my latte.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Yeah, gen z TikTokers are ditching the expensive morning coffee
- 5:00Speaker 1: runs and instead transforming their kitchens into cozy, custom coffee
- 5:05Speaker 1: shops complete with menus, pastries, even barista uniforms an attempt
- 5:10Speaker 1: in an attempt to save money, so they're trading in
- 5:12Speaker 1: their overpriced lattes with DIY coffee culture or something the
- 5:16Speaker 1: rest of us just know as make it your damn
- 5:19Speaker 1: self at home.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Hipster nesting.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I kind of okay, it's stupid, but I do give
- 5:33Speaker 1: them a little bit of credit for going like full
- 5:36Speaker 1: on cosplay live action role play of the Starbucks experience
- 5:41Speaker 1: in your own home. Is it really They'll go through
- 5:45Speaker 1: the whole process of putting on the outfit and everything
- 5:48Speaker 1: and making their own coffee.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Is this like a daily habit?
- 5:51Speaker 4: Because I feel like cosplay or live action role play
- 5:55Speaker 4: isn't like a daily thing. At some point that's not
- 5:58Speaker 4: costplay anymore. That's us your day.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right, because that that's usually more like a
- 6:04Speaker 1: special event.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 4: I mean you don't put on like your medieval you know,
- 6:09Speaker 4: armor or your chain link culture top, and you know,
- 6:12Speaker 4: you go to the rent fair.
- 6:14Speaker 2: You don't just like go to your kitchen.
- 6:16Speaker 1: One of the TikTokers filmed her hands filling a to
- 6:19Speaker 1: go cup with a custom iced coffee, captioning her video
- 6:22Speaker 1: reminder to make your coffee at home tomorrow and save
- 6:25Speaker 1: those seven dollars. That's the other thing I think is
- 6:27Speaker 1: fascinating is you've got the younger culture thinking that they've
- 6:31Speaker 1: come up with some brilliant, you know, life hack when
- 6:34Speaker 1: everyone already knows you just get a coffee pot and
- 6:37Speaker 1: you make your own.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Yeah, or French Press, even.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Trey, you deal with gen Z on a daily basis.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I'm sorry for that.
- 6:47Speaker 1: On are you at least grateful that they're showing some initiative.
- 6:53Speaker 3: No, because they feel they feel burdened and oppressed by
- 6:58Speaker 3: the fact that they're having to make their own call.
- 7:00Speaker 3: And it's something you know, wrong with our culture and
- 7:03Speaker 3: the economy that they are not making enough money to spend,
- 7:07Speaker 3: you know, seven fifteen dollars a day on their coffee.
- 7:11Speaker 3: And so it really is it's a a critique on
- 7:15Speaker 3: society and its ills.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Gotcha. So it can't just be simply make your own
- 7:21Speaker 1: coffee and leave it at that. It's got to be
- 7:22Speaker 1: some grand gesture.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no, no, nothing. There is nothing that is
- 7:27Speaker 3: face value with gen Z.
- 7:30Speaker 1: So if you really want to attack gen Z, I
- 7:32Speaker 1: think this is how you do it. You you shoot
- 7:36Speaker 1: a video and you post it on TikTok of you
- 7:39Speaker 1: going to Starbucks buying a thirty dollars something cup of something,
- 7:44Speaker 1: and then go home to the house you own and
- 7:48Speaker 1: post the video. But in between home and Starbucks you
- 7:52Speaker 1: use the ellipses and then when you get home to
- 7:54Speaker 1: the house you own, you post it with a thumbs
- 7:57Speaker 1: up emoji.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Make sure do you use a middle finger too, just
- 8:05Speaker 4: like drive the point home, you know, or bridges.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Just go. What the is wrong with you? People?

- 10:05Speaker 1: along with Trey Trenholm and Ashley from Pause in the City,
- 10:09Speaker 1: North Texas's only all volunteer no kill animal rescue group.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Got it. Actually, we've got a big event coming up
- 10:19Speaker 1: for Pause in the City. It's a little thing called Vermafest.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I believe this is the third time that you guys
- 10:27Speaker 1: will be throwing Vermafest in honor of Mark Verma, who
- 10:32Speaker 1: was the director of Pause in the City for many years,
- 10:35Speaker 1: and it was through Pause in the City and his
- 10:37Speaker 1: job there that we met him. At our old radio
- 10:40Speaker 1: job at ninety seven won the Eagle in Dallas and
- 10:42Speaker 1: once a week he would bring on one or two
- 10:44Speaker 1: dogs and we talk a little bit about the dogs,
- 10:46Speaker 1: but also making made fun of him, slash pulling him mercilessly.
- 10:52Speaker 1: We've turned over a new leaf since since he passed away,
- 10:55Speaker 1: and we're nice now to the Pause and the city people,
- 10:57Speaker 1: mainly because you're all, for the most part normal. He
- 10:59Speaker 1: was in honor of Mark and all the great work
- 11:02Speaker 1: that not only Mark did, but you guys continue to do.
- 11:06Speaker 1: On behalf of the dogs at Pause in the City,
- 11:10Speaker 1: you guys throw a huge heavy metal concert and raise
- 11:14Speaker 1: money that benefits all those animals at Pause in the City.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Because Mark Verma loved a bunch of things, but two
- 11:20Speaker 1: of the main things he loved was heavy metal and dogs,
- 11:23Speaker 1: and so Vermafest does both right.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Local music, yep, definitely.
- 11:29Speaker 1: So where is when? And where is Verma Fest twenty
- 11:32Speaker 1: twenty five.
- 11:33Speaker 4: So we have the whole day is spread across four venues.
- 11:39Speaker 4: We have seventeen seventeen local music acts. So during the
- 11:44Speaker 4: day from one to five at three Nations Brewing Downtown Carrollton,
- 11:50Speaker 4: we'll have three bands, and then at Benders North Dallas
- 11:55Speaker 4: we'll have one band at two o'clock. They play from
- 11:57Speaker 4: two to four, and then doors open at six at
- 12:01Speaker 4: Trees and Renos both in Deep Elm, and that basically
- 12:05Speaker 4: will go until they close, you know, one o'clock and
- 12:09Speaker 4: uh Trees will have a VIP section so you can
- 12:14Speaker 4: get ticket, you know, a VIP table or individual kind
- 12:18Speaker 4: of standing room only vi P you know, VIP tickets.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Any ticket that you buy for Renos and Trees gets
- 12:25Speaker 4: you admission to both venues, so you don't have to
- 12:28Speaker 4: buy you know, multiple tickets. The two daytime ones are free,
- 12:33Speaker 4: so and the two daytime ones are you know, they're
- 12:35Speaker 4: kind of lighter music's not not heavy metals, so we
- 12:38Speaker 4: kind of have some stuff going on for uh, you know,
- 12:40Speaker 4: for all the all audiences, especially you know, I don't
- 12:44Speaker 4: know if you guys have been to Three Nations or not,
- 12:46Speaker 4: but it's it's really, you know, it's pretty laid back there.
- 12:48Speaker 4: It's dog friendly indoors too, so just you know, kind
- 12:52Speaker 4: of a chill up Saturday afternoon beer.
- 12:55Speaker 1: You know that that makes more sense for the daytime
- 12:58Speaker 1: brewery crowd because a lot of times families that will
- 13:00Speaker 1: be there as well. They're not absolutely signing up for
- 13:02Speaker 1: a heavy metal show in the middle of the day. Yeah,
- 13:05Speaker 1: exactly makes sense. Although it does make me wonder if
- 13:08Speaker 1: anyone does a like heavy metal brunch. I don't I
- 13:12Speaker 1: can't remember if Renos even serves food, but that might
- 13:15Speaker 1: be an option.
- 13:15Speaker 2: No, they don't.
- 13:17Speaker 1: It's been a long time since I've been to Renos,
- 13:19Speaker 1: And even if they had food, I don't know if
- 13:21Speaker 1: anyone necessarily would have wanted it.
- 13:22Speaker 4: There actually is a guy who like sets up outside
- 13:26Speaker 4: the front door. You know. It's like when you go
- 13:28Speaker 4: to concerts and they have like the little grittle thing there.
- 13:31Speaker 4: There is a guy who does that, but I think
- 13:33Speaker 4: he's only there like Thursday, you know, on the weekends.
- 13:36Speaker 1: That makes sense. I'm all for any establishment that doesn't
- 13:40Speaker 1: serve food, but they have a guy.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a guy.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Because you know that guy is going to be good.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Yeah he has you know, he's not going to take
- 13:47Speaker 4: credit cards, he's not gonna you know, you try to
- 13:49Speaker 4: go to his website and it's you know, four or
- 13:52Speaker 4: four doesn't exist. The best drunk hamburger of your life.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Yeah, Trey, you've you've you've lived and worked UH in
- 14:02Speaker 1: the Uptown area of Dallas for many years. Is is
- 14:05Speaker 1: the taco guy still running around? Because when my wife
- 14:08Speaker 1: when we lived in Dallas, UH, and she was back
- 14:11Speaker 1: in the day and this is a long time ago,
- 14:12Speaker 1: when she was tending bar at the night clubs, there
- 14:14Speaker 1: was a guy that would show up a certain night
- 14:17Speaker 1: of the week late, usually around midnight, and would stay
- 14:20Speaker 1: till like two to three, and he would just sling
- 14:25Speaker 1: the foil wrapped tacos and they were amazing. Is he
- 14:28Speaker 1: still running around?
- 14:30Speaker 3: There's a there's a bunch of them. But the truth
- 14:36Speaker 3: about like a lot of them have now gotten their
- 14:37Speaker 3: own little shops where they stay open to four am,
- 14:40Speaker 3: and you just you come to them.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Oh, actually I think I had it wrong. It wasn't
- 14:44Speaker 1: a taco it was it was a tamalium ray.
- 14:47Speaker 2: He sold Tomali's and pot cookies.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Yes, well in my day, I didn't know about the
- 14:53Speaker 1: pot cookies, although it makes sense.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:57Speaker 4: And then the cotton candy guy he passed away right
- 15:01Speaker 4: like right right after things shut down from COVID. He
- 15:05Speaker 4: was kind of a staple, Like he was pretty you know,
- 15:07Speaker 4: he was kind of a local celebrity.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Yeah, because you had There was the tolly guy. There
- 15:11Speaker 1: was the guy with like a taco cart. You never
- 15:13Speaker 1: knew him. It was just some you know, walking around someplace.
- 15:16Speaker 1: And then there was the barbecue guy that I would
- 15:18Speaker 1: see outside of Barkadia in Dallas.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I forgot about the barbecue guy.
- 15:23Speaker 4: It's like the cotton candy guy, like you couldn't miss
- 15:25Speaker 4: him because it's a tower of cotton candy that just
- 15:28Speaker 4: like you can't miss him, or you can't miss his
- 15:31Speaker 4: cotton candy tower anyway. But like the barbecue thing, you
- 15:34Speaker 4: smell it that you know they've all got there, like
- 15:37Speaker 4: you know, they kind of self promote the food, does
- 15:40Speaker 4: it for him?
- 15:41Speaker 1: Yeah, And you're right, Tracus. A lot of those guys
- 15:43Speaker 1: have gotten so big that they started with like whatever
- 15:45Speaker 1: garage business, and now they've got, especially in the barbecue scene,
- 15:49Speaker 1: You've got guys that started in their backyard and within
- 15:53Speaker 1: a few years they've got a you know, a twenty
- 15:56Speaker 1: thirty thousand square foot full on smokehouse restaurant with their
- 16:00Speaker 1: name on it.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Yeah. And some of them now that they started off
- 16:04Speaker 3: with just you know, sandwiches in a cooler. They they
- 16:07Speaker 3: made enough money, then they got their own smoker and
- 16:09Speaker 3: then they trailer that smoker around and they'll set up
- 16:14Speaker 3: outside different areas where it's lower Greenville or Deep Elum
- 16:17Speaker 3: and it's still damn good.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I will I will forever remember the last I think
- 16:24Speaker 1: this was. I think it was the last time that
- 16:28Speaker 1: I hung out with Mark Verma from Pausing the City.
- 16:32Speaker 1: It was after a Saint Patrick's Greenville Avenue Saint Patrick's
- 16:36Speaker 1: Parade Day in Dallas, and he and I shared Greenville
- 16:40Speaker 1: Avenue pizza company, and in very and in very Verma fashion,
- 16:46Speaker 1: we had split up. Oh yeah, like we were going
- 16:49Speaker 1: one way, he was going another after riding the float
- 16:52Speaker 1: down and then and then I was going one direction
- 16:56Speaker 1: and he was going the other. On Greenville. We bump
- 16:59Speaker 1: into each other and we both did that.
- 17:00Speaker 6: Hey.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Of course, I was probably five or six beverages in
- 17:05Speaker 1: and I was like, you wist some pizza, and in
- 17:07Speaker 1: Burma fashion, he paid for it. Yeah, So the son
- 17:12Speaker 1: of a bitch died with me owing him something. So
- 17:17Speaker 1: the way to give back then is to help promote
- 17:20Speaker 1: and go and enjoy Vermafest twenty twenty five, which you
- 17:23Speaker 1: can do get all the info for it on the
- 17:26Speaker 1: Pause in the City website Pauseinthecity dot org. It's a
- 17:29Speaker 1: multi venue, all day thing. Vermafest twenty twenty five benefiting
- 17:33Speaker 1: the dogs and the operations at Pause in the City,
- 17:37Speaker 1: North Texas is only all volunteer, no kill Animal rescue group.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I believe I'm three for three today.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Yeah, it's also our twentieth anniversary this year. If you
- 17:48Speaker 4: can believe that Hurricane Katrina was twenty years ago. And
- 17:53Speaker 4: so we have a new website up. You might notice
- 17:55Speaker 4: a little bit of a redesign, a little bit of
- 17:57Speaker 4: a different look, so you know, don't be intimidated by that.
- 18:03Speaker 1: It's a good thing. Go check out the new website,
- 18:05Speaker 1: and of course go go support Pause in the City
- 18:09Speaker 1: on the website, and or also go to URMAFS twenty
- 18:12Speaker 1: twenty five. All the info again is at Pauseinthecity dot org. Ashley,

- 19:00Speaker 1: get to add cook DFW's name to that list of
- 19:03Speaker 1: excellent sponsors to the foundation because Daniel, you and your
- 19:06Speaker 1: wife Carrie have said, you know what, we love our
- 19:08Speaker 1: community and we want to do something to give back
- 19:10Speaker 1: to our first responders in DFW.
- 19:13Speaker 8: Right, Dan, that's absolutely correct, and you know, truth be known,
- 19:17Speaker 8: Carrie has given to the foundation for quite so many years.
- 19:21Speaker 8: But now at a company level, I think we are
- 19:23Speaker 8: wanting to definitely you know, beef that up and start
- 19:27Speaker 8: giving back to the foundation. And it's unfortunately, this is
- 19:31Speaker 8: a foundation nobody wants to have to donate to, but
- 19:34Speaker 8: it's the real world is that these things do happen,
- 19:36Speaker 8: and it's the type of foundation that you don't want around,
- 19:41Speaker 8: but you definitely want it to be, you know, available
- 19:43Speaker 8: to the families that need it.
- 19:45Speaker 3: And so over the next couple of months.
- 19:48Speaker 8: You know, a portion of all the proceeds from the
- 19:49Speaker 8: work done from Treehouse Listeners that call in and let
- 19:53Speaker 8: us know that they heard about you on the show,
- 19:55Speaker 8: we're going to be donating to the RMS Tree House
- 19:57Speaker 8: Listeners Foundation and making sure that we can keep that
- 20:02Speaker 8: very stable in the accounting side and have funds available
- 20:06Speaker 8: that when the families need it, it's going to be there.
- 20:09Speaker 8: So we're very fortunate to be a part of the
- 20:11Speaker 8: organization and we look forward to try and assist and
- 20:15Speaker 8: help it as much as we can.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Not only a company that cares about you as a client,
- 20:19Speaker 1: but COOKDFW Roofing and Restoration also cares about its first

- 21:24Speaker 1: twenty five. One more quick note that our friend Ashley
- 21:27Speaker 1: mentioned to us from Pausing the City, you can buy

- 21:38Speaker 1: Pretty cool. Use code treehouse ten on thepausinthecity dot org
- 21:42Speaker 1: website to get ten percent off your merch. Congratulations and
- 21:46Speaker 1: thanks again to Ashley from pausing the city and keeping
- 21:49Speaker 1: up the Verma tradition. Vermafest twenty twenty five. Trey, I
- 21:55Speaker 1: know that you're a huge golf guy. I like ish.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I'm more of a driving range top golf golfer. But
- 22:06Speaker 1: the Masters tournament is a truly, truly special special tournament.
- 22:10Speaker 1: It's a special place. It is hallowed ground for the
- 22:14Speaker 1: golf community. Right, would you ever pee on it?
- 22:20Speaker 3: No?
- 22:21Speaker 1: All right, well, I think you would be in the
- 22:23Speaker 1: majority there. However, there was one amateur golfer this last
- 22:27Speaker 1: weekend who doesn't look at Augusta National the same way
- 22:33Speaker 1: you do, or even I do for that matter. His
- 22:36Speaker 1: name is Jose Luis Biaster. He's an amateur golfer, and
- 22:41Speaker 1: he just made the most unforgettable debut at Augusta while
- 22:46Speaker 1: paired with world number one Scottie Scheffler, Biaster relieved himself
- 22:52Speaker 1: into raise creek at the Masters. Yes, that famous Rai's
- 22:57Speaker 1: creek at Augusta National. The twenty one year old opted
- 23:02Speaker 1: for the great outdoors and even got a round of
- 23:05Speaker 1: applause from nearby patrons. And he was completely unbothered by it.
- 23:11Speaker 1: He said he wasn't embarrassed at all. In fact, he
- 23:14Speaker 1: said he'd do it again. Keep in mind, the Master's
- 23:19Speaker 1: tournament wants banned a guy for joking about bikini waxed greens,
- 23:24Speaker 1: So I'm surprised that someone would be so bold as
- 23:30Speaker 1: to tinkle off the tee at the Master.
- 23:35Speaker 3: The true of the always, the true and greatest flex
- 23:40Speaker 3: of the Masters was, you know, I've it's probably been
- 23:44Speaker 3: fifteen years ago when there was a big stink that
- 23:49Speaker 3: they weren't they didn't allow women, and so they had
- 23:55Speaker 3: some advertisers saying, oh, we're going to boycott the Masters,
- 23:59Speaker 3: and they just said, oh, okay, don't worry about it,
- 24:04Speaker 3: bought up all the ad time on CBS themselves and
- 24:08Speaker 3: said we got this don't worry and still made money.
- 24:14Speaker 1: So that's how much they don't want women in their building.
- 24:18Speaker 3: That's how much the flex they have is they advertisers
- 24:22Speaker 3: want a boycott, they just said, fine, we'll do it ourselves.
- 24:26Speaker 3: We have the money. We don't need you.
- 24:29Speaker 1: We don't need you or your opinions.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know, you were talking about an event
- 24:34Speaker 3: that although the face value I think of a ticket
- 24:38Speaker 3: to the Masters is around four hundred dollars, they trade
- 24:42Speaker 3: for twenty five to one hundred thousand dollars. The amount
- 24:46Speaker 3: of private planes going in there this weekend is something
- 24:50Speaker 3: in the thousands. It's yeah, it's and they do they
- 24:56Speaker 3: allow women now? And really it's it's a very Do.
- 25:04Speaker 1: They allow women like like allow women in the club
- 25:09Speaker 1: on a regular basis or they just allow ladies of
- 25:12Speaker 1: the night that are inevitably in town for a week
- 25:16Speaker 1: before and a week after?
- 25:19Speaker 3: Oh I I mean you know they have women members. Okay,
- 25:24Speaker 3: but yeah, that's the whole town of Augusta. People who
- 25:26Speaker 3: live there. They basically go on vacation for the Masters
- 25:29Speaker 3: because they can rent their house out for about one
- 25:31Speaker 3: hundred thousand dollars and for a couple of weeks and
- 25:35Speaker 3: you know, obviously you know that that's a good income.
- 25:39Speaker 1: It is it would probably be wise to scotch guard
- 25:42Speaker 1: everything before you leave.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Well that's it. Listen, you man, that thing is so
- 25:51Speaker 3: two golf fans and golfers, that Augusta is so sacred.
- 25:56Speaker 3: You don't want to trash the house out there because
- 25:58Speaker 3: you will get blacklisted.
- 26:00Speaker 1: You want to be able to go back, especially if
- 26:01Speaker 1: you find a good spot, and then you can just
- 26:03Speaker 1: you know, make that the end.
- 26:05Speaker 3: There are people on waiting list for members to die
- 26:09Speaker 3: to get the rights to their tickets that they pay
- 26:13Speaker 3: tens of thousands of dollars to that person just waiting
- 26:17Speaker 3: for them to die to get the rights to those tickets.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Trey, I have a business idea. We start up just
- 26:27Speaker 1: a little side side operation. It can be a little
- 26:29Speaker 1: less subsidiary of Treehouse Media, where we offer hitman services
- 26:36Speaker 1: to people who are waitlisted at Augusta and we'll just
- 26:40Speaker 1: knock off the old people so that moves them higher
- 26:43Speaker 1: up the list and faster.
- 26:46Speaker 3: And I can't even fathom what the membership waitlist is like,
- 26:50Speaker 3: because you know, it's either old Georgia money or you know,
- 26:54Speaker 3: it's CEOs and presidents and things of that nature.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Well, leave it up to Jose Luise by Biaster to
- 27:02Speaker 1: go to some of the most hallow ground in American
- 27:05Speaker 1: golf history and pee in it now, which, if we're
- 27:09Speaker 1: being honest, that's kind of a human thing to do. Overall,
- 27:12Speaker 1: we like to pee on things. We like to ruin
- 27:15Speaker 1: ur tray. I think you're the one that said this
- 27:16Speaker 1: the other day. We as a species, we just ruined stuff.
- 27:19Speaker 1: It's kind of what we do.
- 27:21Speaker 3: We did, we junk everything up and then we just
- 27:23Speaker 3: you know, move on to something new that we can
- 27:25Speaker 3: junk up. And I am sure that members of the
- 27:28Speaker 3: Masters of Augusta. I'm sure they pee all over the
- 27:32Speaker 3: place when you know, because it's you know, they can
- 27:37Speaker 3: do whatever they want.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Yeah, people, But yeah.
- 27:41Speaker 3: No, I I would be afraid. I would be afraid
- 27:46Speaker 3: of doing that just for you know, if you actually
- 27:48Speaker 3: got to go there and play or do that, you
- 27:51Speaker 3: would do something and then banned.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I wouldn't want to. I wouldn't want to pee
- 27:55Speaker 1: on the course. I would rather get a bladder infection
- 27:57Speaker 1: just hold it for the entire four to five hours
- 28:00Speaker 1: that I'm playing. So no, I, unlike this amateur golfer
- 28:04Speaker 1: at the amster. Unlike this Jesus Christ, I can't talk.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Unlike this amateur golfer at the Masters last week. I
- 28:11Speaker 1: would not pee anywhere on that course. But what is
- 28:15Speaker 1: the most famous place you've peed at, Trey? Any place
- 28:20Speaker 1: come to mind?
- 28:24Speaker 3: The most famous.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Place for me, I've got a couple. I have peed
- 28:29Speaker 1: at Trunk Bay, which is part of the National Parks.
- 28:33Speaker 1: It's on the island of Saint John in the United
- 28:35Speaker 1: States Virgin Islands. So I've peed at Trunk Bay, which
- 28:38Speaker 1: is considered one of the world's most beautiful beaches. And
- 28:41Speaker 1: I've also peed on the side of I thirty before
- 28:43Speaker 1: a Metallica concert in Fort Worth. Okay, I mean, granted
- 28:50Speaker 1: I thirty is not hallowed ground near near beach.
- 28:54Speaker 3: I peed in your house.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Huh oh in the bathroom.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, out of the bathroom.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Okay either. For some reason, when you said that, I
- 29:04Speaker 1: just imagine you being on the bed and I'm like
- 29:06Speaker 1: the one behind me. You're supposed to deny that, Drey, you're.

- 30:03Speaker 1: is the Treehouse Show. I'm Dan, he is Trey. Today
- 30:06Speaker 1: is Wednesday, April sixteenth, two thousand twenty five. Trey. Do
- 30:13Speaker 1: you know? Do you know where the Garden of Eden
- 30:16Speaker 1: is or was.
- 30:20Speaker 5: Not?
- 30:21Speaker 3: Exactly no.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Mesopotamia or what it is known as modern day Iraq,
- 30:29Speaker 1: you know, the beautiful land of Iraq now. Granted, when
- 30:36Speaker 1: it was Garden of Eden, it looked very different than
- 30:37Speaker 1: it does today, thank God. But a provocative new theory
- 30:42Speaker 1: suggests that the original Garden of Eden may not have
- 30:45Speaker 1: been in Mesopotamia roughly modern day Iraq, which has long
- 30:51Speaker 1: been what people had assumed, but rather in Egypt. Now.
- 30:58Speaker 1: This might be shocking to some, but it's not to me,
- 31:00Speaker 1: because honestly, anywhere in that general area makes sense to me.
- 31:06Speaker 1: But if research showed the Garden of Eden being in
- 31:08Speaker 1: Detroit now that would be shocking, yes, but there is
- 31:14Speaker 1: new research that shows a different location for the Garden
- 31:18Speaker 1: of Eden in Egypt, under the towering shadow of the
- 31:23Speaker 1: much older Great Pyramid of Giza. There's a doctor who
- 31:27Speaker 1: has a really difficult name to say out loud, so
- 31:29Speaker 1: I'm not going to. He is shaking up biblical geography
- 31:32Speaker 1: with a study published claiming the famed paradise where Adam
- 31:36Speaker 1: and Eve once frolicked may have flourished on Egyptian soil,
- 31:40Speaker 1: not in modern day Iraq. Old school Mesopotamia. The Bible
- 31:45Speaker 1: describes a river flowing out of Eden that split into
- 31:47Speaker 1: four branches, the Gihan, the Pischan, the tigers, and the Euphrates. Okay,
- 31:52Speaker 1: the tigers and the Euphrates, I remember very well from
- 31:55Speaker 1: high school geography, those are the two.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Not so much.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Scholars have long assumed Eden was in Iraq, home to
- 32:01Speaker 1: the tigers and the Euphrates, but this doctor claims the
- 32:04Speaker 1: ancient rivers could also correspond to the Nile, which is
- 32:08Speaker 1: the Gihon, Euphrates tigers, and the Indus River which is
- 32:12Speaker 1: the Pichan. So lots of geography happening according to this doctor.
- 32:17Speaker 1: He writes by examining a map from around five hundred PC,
- 32:19Speaker 1: it becomes apparent that the only four rivers emerging from
- 32:22Speaker 1: the encircling oceanis the tie are the Nile, Tigris, Euphrates,
- 32:26Speaker 1: and Indus. And he's not stopping there. Oh no, he's
- 32:30Speaker 1: going crazy. The scientist claims the sacred Tree of Life
- 32:33Speaker 1: itself said to bear fruit, that Grant's eternal life once
- 32:36Speaker 1: stood near the Great Pyramid. He believes that pyramid's internal
- 32:40Speaker 1: structure even mimics the shape of a tree. He says
- 32:45Speaker 1: it cannot be overlooked. The charge particles in this simulation,
- 32:49Speaker 1: it's a computer simulation, are arranged in a way that
- 32:52Speaker 1: creates several parallel branches extending outward from the center line,
- 32:55Speaker 1: creating a tree like representation, he pointed out. Or he
- 32:59Speaker 1: pointed to simulations in twenty twelve that modeled the Pyramid
- 33:02Speaker 1: King's chamber showing charged particles clustering at the peak of
- 33:05Speaker 1: the monument. Blah blah blah. He's a computer engineer, and
- 33:08Speaker 1: he claims that the Garden of Eden is in Egypt,
- 33:12Speaker 1: basically where the Giza Pyramids are, not in Iraq, Old
- 33:17Speaker 1: School Mesopotamia. I mainly bring this up because we talked
- 33:22Speaker 1: about ancient civilization type stuff in here on a regular
- 33:25Speaker 1: enough basis that I feel like we can speak on
- 33:28Speaker 1: it to some level. Mainly U tre no, Well, I.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Am not an Orthodox Christian. And as the Old Testament,
- 33:50Speaker 3: especially the beginnings of the Old Testament, I don't believe
- 33:54Speaker 3: there's you know, I believe they're all metaphors and stories
- 33:59Speaker 3: of you know, this man's eternal question of where do
- 34:02Speaker 3: we come from? Why are we here? They're not. I
- 34:07Speaker 3: don't believe they're they're really you know, I think the
- 34:12Speaker 3: Garden of Eden as itself is kind of a metaphor
- 34:15Speaker 3: not an actual spot. Yeah, so I I I don't
- 34:20Speaker 3: really believe there was an arc. I don't believe, you know,
- 34:24Speaker 3: at a certain point, I believe we have to realize that,
- 34:29Speaker 3: you know, evolution is a thing.
- 34:33Speaker 1: And that and that old people like to tell stories
- 34:35Speaker 1: by the campfire.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Well it's you know, a lot of the it's no
- 34:39Speaker 3: different than Beowulf for those you know, old enough to
- 34:42Speaker 3: have been tortured by Beowulf in high school. It's oral
- 34:45Speaker 3: stories handed down from generation generation that we're finally you know,
- 34:48Speaker 3: put into put into writing. And it's like one of
- 34:52Speaker 3: the things. One of the fascinating things about you know,
- 34:57Speaker 3: about the Old Testament Noah the Great Flood is that's
- 35:00Speaker 3: one of the common themes from civilizations all over the world,
- 35:05Speaker 3: ancient civilizations, is there was a great flood, which people
- 35:09Speaker 3: generally equate with the younger dryest of and the ending
- 35:12Speaker 3: of the ice Age, and it wiped out most of
- 35:16Speaker 3: humanity and there were few survivors, and those survivors went
- 35:19Speaker 3: on to teach other people actually how how to to
- 35:24Speaker 3: redoce civilization, how to farm, how to you know, structure
- 35:30Speaker 3: a society, all these other things. So that's where a
- 35:36Speaker 3: lot of the whole ancient civilization comes from, is is
- 35:39Speaker 3: it was there and then it got wiped out, and
- 35:42Speaker 3: there were the few survivors spread out and repopulate, you know,
- 35:46Speaker 3: kind of retaught the world how to do things.
- 35:50Speaker 1: It's interesting too, because this new theory that the Garden
- 35:53Speaker 1: of Eden was in Egypt, not in uh Mesopotamia is
- 35:58Speaker 1: backed up by an ancient historian. This ancient historian's name
- 36:04Speaker 1: is Titus Flavius Josephus. Now keep in mind the last
- 36:11Speaker 1: name is j O s E p h U S.
- 36:15Speaker 1: I say Josephus because if I say his last name
- 36:19Speaker 1: is Josephus. It doesn't carry the same amount of credibility
- 36:24Speaker 1: because if you're gonna say, well, you know what doctor
- 36:26Speaker 1: Josephus says, I'm just not going to believe anything you say.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Well, that's that that is an ancient name, that that
- 36:36Speaker 3: we have now attached to more of a hillbilly.
- 36:39Speaker 1: But yeah, are we talking Egyptian Josephus or more Appalachian Josephus.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I need to know the origin here, because it's two
- 36:49Speaker 1: vastly different Josephus's.
- 36:55Speaker 3: I know.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I've read through that whole story and I was like, well,
- 36:57Speaker 1: you're trying to tell me there's an ancient historian name Joeas. Yep,
- 37:01Speaker 1: that's the stupid angle I can hang on to for
- 37:03Speaker 1: this story. You're in the tree House.

- 37:55Speaker 1: is the Treehouse Show on Wednesday, April sixteenth, TWI let's
- 38:03Speaker 1: celebrate today with some birthdays. Sadie Sinc, who plays Max
- 38:08Speaker 1: on Stranger Things, is twenty three today. I don't think
- 38:14Speaker 1: we have a release date yet for Stranger Things season five,
- 38:19Speaker 1: although I'm hopeful to get that soon because a bunch
- 38:22Speaker 1: of other shows that I was looking forward to are
- 38:24Speaker 1: all starting to happen now. Because I think it was
- 38:28Speaker 1: a lot of it was the writer's strike a while back,
- 38:30Speaker 1: so things got backlogged. Now a lot of those shows
- 38:33Speaker 1: that I was excited for new seasons and movies and
- 38:36Speaker 1: things are now finally popping out. The last of Us
- 38:40Speaker 1: on Max based on the video game season two just
- 38:43Speaker 1: came out, or at least the first part of it.
- 38:46Speaker 1: The new season of The Handsmade Tail dropped its first
- 38:49Speaker 1: few episodes of its final season.
- 38:52Speaker 3: I got to catch up on that. I don't think
- 38:55Speaker 3: I saw the last couple of seasons.
- 38:57Speaker 1: It's good man, that is a good show goes off.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Right now. It is saying that it's unofficially but they
- 39:06Speaker 3: think that season five, well, the first six episodes will
- 39:12Speaker 3: drop on October tenth, okay, and then the last will
- 39:17Speaker 3: then be released on November twenty seventh.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Interesting, so right before Halloween and then on Thanksgiving weekend. YEP, Okay,
- 39:27Speaker 1: I can live with that. As much as I want
- 39:29Speaker 1: to see Stranger Things season five, I'm all for being
- 39:33Speaker 1: patient and letting them release it around Halloween, because that,
- 39:38Speaker 1: to me is the time of year that makes the
- 39:41Speaker 1: most sense for that show, even though like the last
- 39:42Speaker 1: season it wasn't anything Halloween based. It was like in
- 39:45Speaker 1: the summer or yeah, it was spring break.
- 39:47Speaker 3: I'm gonna be really curious on that one, because had
- 39:53Speaker 3: they left it the way they ended season four, it
- 39:56Speaker 3: was a good It was a good ending, and I'm
- 40:02Speaker 3: gonna be really fascinated how season five turns out, because, honestly,
- 40:08Speaker 3: I've it seems like, especially in the last fifteen years,
- 40:14Speaker 3: the last seasons of shows have been in general disappointing.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, when you say the end of season four
- 40:22Speaker 1: of Stranger Things was a good ending, do you mean
- 40:24Speaker 1: for that season or do you think that would have
- 40:26Speaker 1: been a good spot to end the entire show.
- 40:30Speaker 3: I thought that they really could have wrapped up the
- 40:32Speaker 3: show and it I would have been okay with it.
- 40:36Speaker 3: I don't feel like it left any lingering really lingering
- 40:40Speaker 3: pressing questions.
- 40:41Speaker 1: To me, it does maybe not necessarily pressing questions, but
- 40:46Speaker 1: the town of Hawkins being destroyed and Vecna doing all
- 40:49Speaker 1: this stuff, and I think, to me, it's begging for
- 40:53Speaker 1: a climax, and that's what we're going to get with
- 40:55Speaker 1: season five. And I hope it's good, obviously.
- 40:59Speaker 3: And if anyone will begging for climax, thank you.
- 41:06Speaker 1: I will say that. I think they had it set
- 41:08Speaker 1: up to where they could have gone two directions for
- 41:13Speaker 1: I don't even want to say climax now because you've
- 41:15Speaker 1: ruined it the culmination of the show, the final whatever.
- 41:22Speaker 1: They could have ended it, either with a season five
- 41:24Speaker 1: or just a full on movie to tie it all up.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Well, here's the other thing, which is that cast. It's
- 41:35Speaker 3: going to be fascinating how they play this out because
- 41:39Speaker 3: that cast, some of them seemed like they were in
- 41:41Speaker 3: their the late teens. They're all now grown ups. I
- 41:46Speaker 3: mean Millie Bobby Brown, is you know she's full grown
- 41:51Speaker 3: woman now she's married. Yeah.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Did you see who officiated her wedding?
- 41:56Speaker 3: No, Papa?
- 41:59Speaker 1: Oh really, Matthew Modean officiated her wedding? Uh? Do you
- 42:04Speaker 1: know who she married?
- 42:07Speaker 3: I know? I read this, and uh, but I don't remember.
- 42:13Speaker 1: John bon Jovi's kid. Oh that's right, Yeah, they're actually
- 42:17Speaker 1: they actually lived the farm life.
- 42:22Speaker 3: You know, if you're the son of John bon Jovi.
- 42:25Speaker 3: And then you know she's got and there's no telling what.
- 42:28Speaker 3: I haven't even read, but I am sure for a
- 42:30Speaker 3: season five, this last season they are getting bank. I
- 42:34Speaker 3: mean there they set for life.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'm pretty sure that at that point they,
- 42:38Speaker 1: like Netflix, just opens up Fort Knox and says, whatever
- 42:41Speaker 1: you want, Oh yeah, just take it. You don't even
- 42:44Speaker 1: have to write it down. Just take whatever you want.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Just leave a little bit for the other, for the
- 42:49Speaker 1: other kids, which, like you said, they're not even kids themselves.
- 42:52Speaker 1: But yeah, I thought that was pretty cool. She even said, uh,
- 42:55Speaker 1: this is an interesting relationship dynamic because I don't know
- 42:59Speaker 1: what her family history is, but her parents were not
- 43:02Speaker 1: eighties rockstar icons the way that her husband's dad is.
- 43:06Speaker 1: I mean, it's hard to be bigger than Jon bon
- 43:09Speaker 1: Jovi from the eighties, right right, and she married his son.
- 43:13Speaker 1: She doesn't have that same level of parents, so she's
- 43:18Speaker 1: more new money, new success. He's had it handed down
- 43:22Speaker 1: to him. I saw in an interview the other day
- 43:24Speaker 1: and I swear I don't seek this stuff out. It
- 43:25Speaker 1: just finds me and I click on it. She was
- 43:29Speaker 1: talking about how she's more down to earth and she's
- 43:32Speaker 1: happy buying and wearing things from say like Target, whereas
- 43:37Speaker 1: since he's the son of a legit eighties rock star,
- 43:41Speaker 1: like he'll wear something from Prado once and that's it.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Yeah, must be nice, But yeah, it's got to be
- 43:50Speaker 3: weird because I mean, I'm sure she was born long
- 43:55Speaker 3: after they had a hit album.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Oh yes, absolutely, I'm pretty sure she was born well
- 44:04Speaker 1: after bon Jovi's greatest hits came out.
- 44:08Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I mean because I think she's twenty six,
- 44:12Speaker 3: twenty seven.
- 44:14Speaker 1: I don't even think she's that old. I mean, Sadie Sink,
- 44:17Speaker 1: who's the birthday that got us off on? This is
- 44:21Speaker 1: twenty three today? Hang on, I gotta look this up.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Millie Bobby Brown, British actress. I always forget that she's
- 44:28Speaker 1: also British.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Oh she's twenty one.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Oh gosh, yeah she's a baby.
- 44:35Speaker 3: Yeah, she's after even like their country album.
- 44:46Speaker 1: I wonder if that's why she lives on a farm.

- 46:42Speaker 3: sign The Gorge. Yeah? Did you watch The Queen's Gambit?
- 46:46Speaker 1: I have not seen that.
- 46:47Speaker 3: It's so good.
- 46:48Speaker 1: All I know is that it's about chess.
- 46:50Speaker 3: And but that's where I first noticed her, and she
- 46:56Speaker 3: is just fantastic. Like she There aren't that many people
- 47:01Speaker 3: anymore where. If I see a name, I'm like, I
- 47:03Speaker 3: will watch it just because I think she's that talented.
- 47:05Speaker 3: But she is one of those people.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Yeah, did you see the Furiosa movie?
- 47:10Speaker 3: I have?
- 47:10Speaker 1: Not really good? The new mad Max films are really
- 47:17Speaker 1: really solid. Highly recommend. I'm giving you a non passive
- 47:22Speaker 1: aggressive thumbs up tray to go to go watch those,
- 47:25Speaker 1: which now leads me to believe that since gen Z
- 47:28Speaker 1: doesn't want to use the thumbs up emojis anymore because
- 47:31Speaker 1: they think they're too passive aggressive, they would have hated
- 47:34Speaker 1: Siskel and Ebert.
- 47:36Speaker 3: Yeah, they'd also hate all the pegging jokes I make
- 47:40Speaker 3: at your expense.
- 47:43Speaker 1: I'm with them on that. Other birthdays today, Lorraine Nicholson
