The Rainbow Covenant After the Flood
After Noah and his family left the ark, he built an altar and offered sacrifices to the Lord. We can only imagine the immense awe and gratefulness he felt at being once again on safe, dry ground, knowing the global catastrophe of the last year was finally over.
Scripture tells us that God accepted this sacrifice and his response to Noah and his sons was threefold: a blessing, instructions, and a covenant (Genesis 8:21–9:17).
Some of what we see in this passage reflects the original blessings/commands given to Adam and Eve at creation: for them to “be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth”…
