- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello, you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
- 0:15Speaker 1: Hawkerel Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kayleie, and this is
- 0:19Speaker 1: your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
- 0:21Speaker 1: a new mindset, and another day for you to become
- 0:23Speaker 1: the Hawkerel Energy want to attrack. Happy Thursday, you guys.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I know I'm uploading another day late, but again, you
- 0:31Speaker 1: guys know from my last week's episode that I mentioned
- 0:34Speaker 1: that if I can just get an episode up a week,
- 0:36Speaker 1: that's all I care about right now. But Vlogmas has
- 0:39Speaker 1: been so busy. On top of Logmas, I've also been
- 0:41Speaker 1: filming some brand deals for the holiday season, so all
- 0:44Speaker 1: in all, it's just been really busy. And then obviously
- 0:47Speaker 1: I've been doing so many house meetings that it's literally
- 0:50Speaker 1: taking up like two three hours of my day just
- 0:52Speaker 1: sitting and talking about design all that. So it's just
- 0:55Speaker 1: been a very busy December. But hey, I love the chaos.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I love when things are honestly chaotic. I don't know
- 1:01Speaker 1: why I feel like I actually thrive when there's chaos.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I find that so bizarre, but it works, and I'm
- 1:07Speaker 1: loving every second of the chaos and busyness during the
- 1:11Speaker 1: busiest time of the year, and I'm sure a lot
- 1:13Speaker 1: of you guys probably feel the same way.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I feel like everyone's feeling a.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Little busy during the holiday season just because a lot
- 1:18Speaker 1: of people take time off, and I feel like, you know,
- 1:21Speaker 1: when you take the time off during the holiday season, obviously,
- 1:24Speaker 1: work just kind of like builds up for only like
- 1:26Speaker 1: what two to three weeks in the beginning of December,
- 1:28Speaker 1: so I feel like everybody tries to get as much
- 1:31Speaker 1: as they can done before the holidays, and then that way,
- 1:34Speaker 1: going into January, they don't have to worry about, you know,
- 1:37Speaker 1: just a busy month. It could be more of a
- 1:39Speaker 1: chill month for January. So I feel like we're all
- 1:42Speaker 1: being busy together and that's okay. We're all going to
- 1:44Speaker 1: get through it and we're going to have a great
- 1:47Speaker 1: start to the new year. Obviously, I've been really dedicating
- 1:50Speaker 1: a lot of the December episodes about the new year
- 1:52Speaker 1: because I really just want to start off the new
- 1:54Speaker 1: year with you guys in the best way possible. So
- 1:58Speaker 1: I really want to create an episode I would hear
- 2:00Speaker 1: today about the end of the year reset, so things
- 2:03Speaker 1: you can do to end your year off on the
- 2:06Speaker 1: right way. But also going into the new year knowing
- 2:09Speaker 1: that you got everything that you wanted to do done
- 2:12Speaker 1: over with, you don't.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Need to think about it.
- 2:14Speaker 1: You're feeling really good going into the new year and
- 2:17Speaker 1: don't need to stress about any little detail. So in
- 2:20Speaker 1: today's episode, we're really going to focus on things you
- 2:23Speaker 1: can do to really mentally and physically feel your best
- 2:26Speaker 1: self going into twenty twenty six, and things you can
- 2:29Speaker 1: do to kind of reset yourself, your home, everything.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Going into twenty twenty six.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I feel like I've done a lot of videos like
- 2:37Speaker 1: this on TikTok and Instagram where I kind of share
- 2:40Speaker 1: like bits and pieces of things I do to kind
- 2:42Speaker 1: of reset myself for a new year. So I thought
- 2:44Speaker 1: it'd be fun to do it into a podcast episode.
- 2:47Speaker 1: So that's why I thought it was a fun little
- 2:49Speaker 1: episode to record before we talk about things that we
- 2:52Speaker 1: can do to prepare ourselves for a new year ahead.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I thought it would give a little update of things
- 2:58Speaker 1: that have been happening these past few weeks. It was
- 3:00Speaker 1: actually just at a cottage this past weekend and we
- 3:02Speaker 1: celebrated our Galsmas night, which I kind of talked about
- 3:05Speaker 1: it on Instagram.
- 3:06Speaker 2: If you don't follow me on Instagram.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Basically, what we do is every single year, my group
- 3:10Speaker 1: of friends and I we get together at my girlfriend's
- 3:12Speaker 1: cottage and we literally just have a shopping day together
- 3:15Speaker 1: in town. You know, we go out for lunch together,
- 3:19Speaker 1: we opened gifts together. We do the Little White Elephant
- 3:23Speaker 1: gift exchange with this year, we did something different. We
- 3:25Speaker 1: did the ten Favorites for ten dollars. So basically, you
- 3:28Speaker 1: spend one hundred bucks, you buy ten of the same item,
- 3:32Speaker 1: but it ends up being ten dollars each. So I
- 3:34Speaker 1: bought ten Summer Friday's mini travel sized lip bombs, and
- 3:39Speaker 1: then that was like my favorite item that I use
- 3:41Speaker 1: all the time, and then I gave it to ten
- 3:43Speaker 1: of my friends, and so everyone in the friend group
- 3:46Speaker 1: all bought their favorite ten dollars item, bought ten of them,
- 3:49Speaker 1: and then we just did the whole gift exchange that way.
- 3:51Speaker 1: People kind of walk away with a adult loop bag
- 3:54Speaker 1: is basically what we referenced it. And yeah, we all
- 3:57Speaker 1: walked away with like ten things, and it was kind
- 4:00Speaker 1: of meaningful because it was everyone's favorite item. So some
- 4:03Speaker 1: people did a claw clip, some people did a lip bomb,
- 4:06Speaker 1: some people did sunglasses, body spray, like so many random things,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and it was so cool to people to take so
- 4:15Speaker 1: much home. It also kind of felt like pr in
- 4:18Speaker 1: a sense. So I don't know, I think it's such
- 4:20Speaker 1: a great gift idea and I wanted to share it
- 4:21Speaker 1: here on the podcast for anyone that's wanting to do
- 4:23Speaker 1: a gift exchange with their girlfriends, do this because I
- 4:26Speaker 1: actually find it's better than doing the white elephant or
- 4:29Speaker 1: Chinese gift exchange, the typical one that people typically do.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I feel like with the white elephant gift exchange, sometimes
- 4:36Speaker 1: you walk away with something that you're never really gonna
- 4:38Speaker 1: use because people are stealing it, and you don't end
- 4:41Speaker 1: up with the gift that you actually wanted, Whereas I
- 4:44Speaker 1: feel like this regardless, I.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Feel like you leave with something that you would actually use.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Because the ten dollar favorite that we recommended for our
- 4:51Speaker 1: friend group was things that you use on a daily basis,
- 4:53Speaker 1: whether it's food, you know, skincare, whatever the case may be.
- 4:57Speaker 1: So I feel like everything that I got I actually
- 4:59Speaker 1: really loved and I'm really excited to try out some
- 5:02Speaker 1: new things and again just leave with a few more
- 5:05Speaker 1: things versus just one big gift that someone spent one
- 5:07Speaker 1: hundred dollars on. So just an idea that I thought
- 5:10Speaker 1: I would throw in here for the episode because I
- 5:12Speaker 1: know some people like to do gift exchange during the
- 5:16Speaker 1: holiday season, and I just figured I would share it
- 5:18Speaker 1: with you guys, something maybe to consider for next year
- 5:20Speaker 1: if you've already done your gift exchange with your friends.
- 5:22Speaker 1: But it's such a fun idea and I loved it.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It was such a great way to have into our
- 5:28Speaker 1: galsmith this year, and I always look forward to every
- 5:31Speaker 1: single year.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Hanging out with my.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Friends is always so fun, and being able to, you know,
- 5:36Speaker 1: see each other and spend time together for a weekend
- 5:39Speaker 1: is very hard, I feel like lately, just because we're
- 5:41Speaker 1: all very busy with life. We're all at different phases.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Some people are getting married, some people are getting engaged,
- 5:47Speaker 1: people have bought in houses, people have started new careers
- 5:50Speaker 1: or just work in life. Have been so busy building houses,
- 5:53Speaker 1: you name it. So I feel like when we do
- 5:55Speaker 1: get together, I'm always just so grateful that we're actually
- 5:57Speaker 1: able to, you know, have a weekend together and enjoy
- 6:01Speaker 1: their company. So it was a great weekend and really
- 6:04Speaker 1: enjoyed it. So it was very holiday themed and it
- 6:07Speaker 1: was just really fun to be all together. The last
- 6:09Speaker 1: update that I'll share with you guys that I'm super
- 6:11Speaker 1: excited about is I'm actually getting my final designs this
- 6:16Speaker 1: week for our house, So our kitchen's going to be done,
- 6:20Speaker 1: our living room's going to be done in terms of
- 6:21Speaker 1: like the rendering images, so basically how the kitchen's going
- 6:25Speaker 1: to look like, how the living room's going to look like,
- 6:27Speaker 1: dining room, all that, And I'm so excited because I
- 6:31Speaker 1: feel like we've been putting so much energy towards making
- 6:34Speaker 1: adjustments to these images, and I feel like we've finally
- 6:37Speaker 1: found things that we actually really like that It's kind
- 6:41Speaker 1: of surprising to me because I felt like I was
- 6:43Speaker 1: going to lean in different directions for certain things, but
- 6:45Speaker 1: we ended up going in a direction that I'm really
- 6:48Speaker 1: happy with, and I think you guys are going to
- 6:50Speaker 1: love it. I love this kind of stuff. I swear
- 6:52Speaker 1: like if I wasn't doing this, I would get into
- 6:55Speaker 1: interior design.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I truly love it.
- 6:57Speaker 1: And it's been so fun to just learn so much
- 6:59Speaker 1: about in tier design with having interier designers for this house,
- 7:03Speaker 1: and I'm so grateful I did hire them because it's
- 7:06Speaker 1: made my life so much easier like I can't even
- 7:09Speaker 1: explain how much easier things have been doing this with
- 7:13Speaker 1: inchier designers and the builder, because if it was just
- 7:15Speaker 1: me and the builder, I don't think it would be
- 7:19Speaker 1: as nice as it's going to be, if that makes sense.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Like I think it would have been nice.
- 7:23Speaker 1: For sure, but it wouldn't have been the turnout that
- 7:25Speaker 1: I would want it to be, if that makes sense.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Like I really feel like it's going to be the
- 7:30Speaker 1: Pinterest images that I see, Like that's exactly what I
- 7:32Speaker 1: think the kitchen's actually going to come out to be.
- 7:35Speaker 1: And obviously I'm putting in a lot of input because
- 7:38Speaker 1: at the end of the day, like we're going off
- 7:39Speaker 1: designs that I want, but the interior designers are making
- 7:42Speaker 1: it happen by knowing like tips and tricks that I
- 7:45Speaker 1: would never know in terms of like the trim detail
- 7:48Speaker 1: for the cabinets, the stain color, things you want to avoid,
- 7:50Speaker 1: things you want to actually add on, things to not
- 7:53Speaker 1: do with the builder, things to do on the side,
- 7:55Speaker 1: Like I've just learned so much throughout the process. Anyways,
- 7:57Speaker 1: I figured I would just share some feedback on that
- 7:59Speaker 1: because I have had a few people ask if it
- 8:02Speaker 1: is worth hiring an interier designer, and I personally think
- 8:04Speaker 1: it is and it's been life changing.
- 8:06Speaker 2: So anyways, we're going to get into this episode. That's
- 8:08Speaker 2: kind of an update for.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Me how stuff vog miss had my gals miss. That's
- 8:12Speaker 1: a little weekly update. But let's get into today's episode. Okay,
- 8:16Speaker 1: So we are about two and a half weeks away,
- 8:18Speaker 1: three weeks away from end of the year. Twenty twenty
- 8:22Speaker 1: five is coming to an end. One thing I'll know
- 8:25Speaker 1: is definitely making sure you take the time to really
- 8:29Speaker 1: see your vision board and see how much you actually
- 8:31Speaker 1: completed for the year, and see how rewarding it is
- 8:35Speaker 1: and how accomplished you feel for completing so many things
- 8:38Speaker 1: that was on your vision board. I always say they work.
- 8:41Speaker 1: They truly do. I was trying to convince my friends
- 8:44Speaker 1: because some of them do vision boards and some of
- 8:46Speaker 1: them don't. But I'm like, I will have a vision
- 8:48Speaker 1: board party and I will get everyone to create a
- 8:51Speaker 1: vision board, and if you guys come back to me
- 8:52Speaker 1: at the end of twenty twenty six and tell me
- 8:54Speaker 1: that things were actually accomplished on your board, you're gonna
- 8:57Speaker 1: thank me later. I'm like, guys, just listen to my pod.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I talk about it all the time because I just
- 9:02Speaker 1: believe in that stuff, and I truly do think it
- 9:04Speaker 1: makes a huge difference in your mindset when it comes
- 9:07Speaker 1: to actually achieving things for yourself. And obviously it's putting
- 9:10Speaker 1: in the effort and actions of getting towards that endpoint
- 9:14Speaker 1: of achieving those goals for yourself. So first off, obviously
- 9:17Speaker 1: we got to review the vision board that.
- 9:19Speaker 2: We made in twenty twenty five. I think that's a
- 9:21Speaker 2: non negotiable.
- 9:21Speaker 1: But we're really going to focus on goal setting and
- 9:24Speaker 1: vision boards and all that in the next episode. So
- 9:27Speaker 1: this episode's more of like a reset of things that
- 9:29Speaker 1: we can do to help ourselves get into the new year.
- 9:33Speaker 1: But we'll talk a lot about goal setting, vision boards,
- 9:35Speaker 1: and all that in the next episode.
- 9:37Speaker 2: But I just wanted to touch.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Base on reviewing your vision board from twenty twenty five
- 9:42Speaker 1: because I think that's really important to just see everything
- 9:45Speaker 1: you accomplished for the year. But right now we're talking
- 9:48Speaker 1: about the end of the year reset. So everything you've
- 9:51Speaker 1: been putting off, things that you've been ignoring, things that
- 9:54Speaker 1: you probably don't want to do. But I'm telling you
- 9:57Speaker 1: right now, if you actually do it, you're gonna feel
- 9:59Speaker 1: so much better that you did it. This could be
- 10:02Speaker 1: a weekend project, this could be maybe something that you
- 10:04Speaker 1: take a day off work to do, taking a rest
- 10:07Speaker 1: day during the holiday, really just to kind of figure
- 10:10Speaker 1: out everything that you need to do in order to
- 10:13Speaker 1: set yourself up for success to go into twenty twenty six.
- 10:16Speaker 1: So for me, these are things that I strive to
- 10:18Speaker 1: do for probably the next four to five days before
- 10:22Speaker 1: twenty twenty six, So I'm talking like probably December twenty
- 10:25Speaker 1: seventh till December thirty. First, I am going to dedicate
- 10:28Speaker 1: time to do all these things that I strive to
- 10:31Speaker 1: do just to make myself feel more organized, more prepared
- 10:35Speaker 1: for the new year ahead. So the first thing that
- 10:37Speaker 1: I want to do to my entire house is completely
- 10:41Speaker 1: declutter every single thing in my home. So Zach and
- 10:44Speaker 1: I actually did this last year. It took us two
- 10:47Speaker 1: to three full days to do the entire house. We
- 10:49Speaker 1: did our basement, we did our upstairs, and our main floor,
- 10:53Speaker 1: and I'm talking we went through every single cabinet, every
- 10:55Speaker 1: single drawer, every single nightstand, every single closet in our
- 11:00Speaker 1: entire house. And it took us literally three to four days,
- 11:03Speaker 1: but it felt so freaking good. Just to get rid
- 11:07Speaker 1: of stuff, things that we don't need, things that aren't
- 11:10Speaker 1: fulfilling us, things that we needed to get rid of.
- 11:13Speaker 1: It just felt like the best start to the new year.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I just felt so refreshed. I felt like everything was
- 11:18Speaker 1: in the right spots. I didn't have to stress about,
- 11:20Speaker 1: you know, just like clutter anywhere. So if I could
- 11:24Speaker 1: recommend one thing is really dedicating time to just going
- 11:27Speaker 1: through things in your apartment or your bedroom or your house,
- 11:30Speaker 1: going through your closet. Maybe it's selling some clothes and
- 11:33Speaker 1: putting it on Poshmark or Facebook marketplace. Maybe it's donating clothes.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Just kind of decluttering any room or spaces that could
- 11:41Speaker 1: be really messy and disorganized. I feel better when there's
- 11:44Speaker 1: a clean space. I've always talked about this in the past,
- 11:46Speaker 1: but like if I have stuff on my kitchen countertops,
- 11:49Speaker 1: like I feel cluttered, like I.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Don't feel good.
- 11:52Speaker 1: When I take the ten minutes of actually cleaning up
- 11:54Speaker 1: my kitchen and making everything look organized, I feel better
- 11:58Speaker 1: and I'm ready to take on the next task. I
- 11:59Speaker 1: feel pretty, I feel motivated. I feel proud that I
- 12:03Speaker 1: actually put the effort in taking the time to actually
- 12:05Speaker 1: organize my space. So Yeah, other areas that I can
- 12:09Speaker 1: think of to declutter and just organize are things like
- 12:13Speaker 1: your bathroom cabinets, your kitchen cabinets, your kitchen pantry, your
- 12:17Speaker 1: coat closet, you know by the front door, your mudroom,
- 12:21Speaker 1: maybe your basement storage room. Oh my goodness, that is
- 12:25Speaker 1: one thing that's not going I need to do our storage room.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Oh it is awful. And because we're moving in eight months,
- 12:31Speaker 1: all I can think about is just like preparing for
- 12:34Speaker 1: the move, Like what can we do now to prepare
- 12:37Speaker 1: ourselves for starting.
- 12:38Speaker 2: To pack up things? Obviously, so we're making it a.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Huge non negotiable to literally organize everything in this house
- 12:46Speaker 1: for the new year ahead, just like getting rid of
- 12:49Speaker 1: things that.
- 12:49Speaker 2: We were prepared for the move.
- 12:51Speaker 1: We also need to start collecting boxes to box some
- 12:54Speaker 1: stuff up. All that so just so crazy to think
- 12:57Speaker 1: about that we're moving. But anyways, I know it's going
- 12:59Speaker 1: to feel so good, just like declutter the storage room,
- 13:01Speaker 1: get everything out, and then also just decluttering any bathroom, cabinet, kitchen, pantry,
- 13:06Speaker 1: you name it. So not only are we going to
- 13:09Speaker 1: declutter these spaces, but the goal is to obviously organize
- 13:12Speaker 1: these spaces as well. One big goal for me to
- 13:15Speaker 1: be honest for twenty twenty six is to definitely be
- 13:18Speaker 1: more organized. I felt like I made it a huge
- 13:21Speaker 1: priority in the beginning of the year this year, and
- 13:23Speaker 1: then I really just kind of slocked. I was like, Ugh, whatever,
- 13:25Speaker 1: I don't care, but I want to hold myself accountable
- 13:28Speaker 1: this year and actually like make the effort of being
- 13:30Speaker 1: as organized as I can in this house in the
- 13:33Speaker 1: next house, like really just trying to make the effort
- 13:35Speaker 1: of you know, purchasing Amazon organizers for our fridge for
- 13:39Speaker 1: an example, or our pantry, things in our nightstand, like
- 13:43Speaker 1: having organizers in there, of actually being able to use
- 13:46Speaker 1: this stuff in our nightstand when I just shove stuff
- 13:48Speaker 1: in a drawer, like I have no idea what's in there?
- 13:50Speaker 2: Do you think I'm going through it? Absolutely not.
- 13:52Speaker 1: If I open up my nightstand drawer and like things
- 13:54Speaker 1: are like perfectly placed in clear containers from Amazon, like
- 13:58Speaker 1: I know where you know, just like random technology stuff
- 14:02Speaker 1: is like chargers or USBs, like having that and a
- 14:05Speaker 1: clear container my magnesium or magnesium spray or room spray,
- 14:09Speaker 1: like again having that inside my nightstand all organized, Like
- 14:12Speaker 1: I think it's so worth paying for organizers from Amazon
- 14:15Speaker 1: and just having that really organized drawer or space just
- 14:20Speaker 1: makes you feel.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Ten times better.
- 14:21Speaker 1: So I'm going to really try and make that a priority.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Is just like organizing all these spaces. Also my office,
- 14:28Speaker 1: Like I have so many documents when it comes to
- 14:31Speaker 1: you know, invoices, contracts that I sign, tax documents, all that.
- 14:37Speaker 1: So I'm like, if I can make the effort of
- 14:38Speaker 1: organizing my office, oh, that is also something that I
- 14:42Speaker 1: just like need to make a priority. So just being
- 14:44Speaker 1: better in general with organizing my space, organizing the little
- 14:48Speaker 1: things just to kind of make my life a little
- 14:49Speaker 1: bit easier going into twenty twenty six. And yeah, just
- 14:53Speaker 1: trying to maintain being organized throughout the entire year. Another
- 14:56Speaker 1: thing that I feel like is really beneficial to the
- 14:59Speaker 1: end of the year reset is maybe just doing things
- 15:02Speaker 1: that you've been holding off. So whether it's house projects,
- 15:05Speaker 1: it could be rooms in the house that you've kind
- 15:08Speaker 1: of ignored that you're like, oh, we got to get
- 15:10Speaker 1: around to doing this. Maybe it makes sense to do
- 15:13Speaker 1: it during the holiday season break, like do a room
- 15:16Speaker 1: in the house that you've been avoiding. For us, one
- 15:18Speaker 1: room in our house that we've actually needed to make
- 15:21Speaker 1: a priority is two rooms we need to work on
- 15:23Speaker 1: our main floor bathroom and my office. So obviously I
- 15:27Speaker 1: want to get the podcast studios still set up, so
- 15:29Speaker 1: I'm hoping we can do a little something before we
- 15:31Speaker 1: move out for the podcast. And then also just getting
- 15:34Speaker 1: that main floor bathroom done before moving is like my
- 15:39Speaker 1: absolute goals. So those are two things that we've kind
- 15:41Speaker 1: of been not focusing on. But I'm like, we actually
- 15:44Speaker 1: need to make the effort of getting this done before
- 15:46Speaker 1: the new year. So that's something that we're trying to
- 15:48Speaker 1: make a priority. So if there's things in your house
- 15:51Speaker 1: that you've kind of been pushing off, maybe this is
- 15:53Speaker 1: the time to kind of get that done over with
- 15:55Speaker 1: that way you don't have to stress about doing it
- 15:57Speaker 1: in the new year. Other things that I feel like
- 15:59Speaker 1: are really beneficial when it comes to like an end
- 16:01Speaker 1: of the year reset, is doing a full house reset,
- 16:04Speaker 1: like cleaning the entire house top to bottom, doing areas
- 16:08Speaker 1: that you always avoid. Like I don't know about you guys,
- 16:11Speaker 1: but I hate cleaning my baseboards, Absolutely hate it. Do
- 16:15Speaker 1: I ever, you know, clean my oven the inside of
- 16:17Speaker 1: my oven?
- 16:18Speaker 2: No, I absolutely hate doing that as well.
- 16:20Speaker 1: So little things like that where I'm like, Okay, we
- 16:22Speaker 1: need to do a full factory reset on the oven.
- 16:24Speaker 1: We need to actually clean the baseboards, clean the walls,
- 16:28Speaker 1: you know, clean the doors, the door handles, like such
- 16:31Speaker 1: a random area. But again those are things that I
- 16:33Speaker 1: don't typically do on a weekly basis, So just really
- 16:36Speaker 1: trying to make those areas of priority so the house
- 16:38Speaker 1: feels really really clean, and then I feel good that
- 16:41Speaker 1: I actually made the effort of doing it again, cleaning
- 16:44Speaker 1: the dishwasher on the inside, the oven, maybe under the sink,
- 16:48Speaker 1: like just like random areas that I just never really
- 16:50Speaker 1: focus on cleaning, So doing a full factory reset, which
- 16:55Speaker 1: will feel so good. And obviously, like we want to
- 16:58Speaker 1: take down our Christmas decorations, like I usually take my
- 17:00Speaker 1: Christmas decorations down either right before New Year's so I
- 17:05Speaker 1: usually do it like December twenty eighth, December twenty ninth,
- 17:08Speaker 1: or I'll do it like January second or third. More
- 17:11Speaker 1: all the stories that we always figarre Christmas decorations down
- 17:14Speaker 1: during that period of time, just to kind of feel
- 17:16Speaker 1: good going into the new year of having the house
- 17:19Speaker 1: fully reset back to normal and making sure that all
- 17:23Speaker 1: our original home decre pieces are back to its original spot.
- 17:27Speaker 1: So obviously I've moved some things around to accommodate Christmas decorations.
- 17:30Speaker 1: But you know, I'll be moving my olive tree back
- 17:33Speaker 1: to where the Christmas tree is currently, obviously adding some
- 17:37Speaker 1: things back onto our floating shelves. All that, I will say, though,
- 17:41Speaker 1: I do also find every time I take my Christmas
- 17:43Speaker 1: decorations down, I feel like the house feels so empty.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I'm like, we got to stop this place back up. Like, so,
- 17:49Speaker 1: typically I will be at home since in January, which
- 17:53Speaker 1: if you don't know what home Sense is is basically
- 17:54Speaker 1: like a home goods or like a Marshal's just kind
- 17:57Speaker 1: of like an affordable place to find home decor items,
- 18:00Speaker 1: and I will literally be finding things. And I know
- 18:03Speaker 1: for a fact I'm going to be doing the exact
- 18:04Speaker 1: same thing this January.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I'll be going to Home.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Sense picking out things for my floating shelves. All that. So,
- 18:11Speaker 1: because we got new floating shelves in my living room,
- 18:13Speaker 1: for an example, everything is filled with Christmas decor right now,
- 18:16Speaker 1: I do not have any decor for those shelves, so
- 18:19Speaker 1: I will have no choice but to go to Home
- 18:21Speaker 1: Sense and fill those spaces out, which obviously I'm very
- 18:24Speaker 1: excited about. But I just always feel like the house
- 18:26Speaker 1: looks so empty after taking Christmas decorations down. So I
- 18:29Speaker 1: think it's kind of okay to do a bit of
- 18:31Speaker 1: like a home refresh in the sense where you go
- 18:34Speaker 1: pick up new decore items just kind of make the
- 18:36Speaker 1: house feel a little bit newer and different. And again,
- 18:39Speaker 1: just like that whole refresh feeling of making the house feel,
- 18:43Speaker 1: I don't know, just a little new going into the
- 18:46Speaker 1: new year. So it's always okay to get new decre
- 18:48Speaker 1: pieces and find a way to kind of style your
- 18:50Speaker 1: home in a way that you see for your new
- 18:53Speaker 1: year ahead. So I love home decre pieces and I
- 18:56Speaker 1: love styling my home, so I will never say no
- 18:59Speaker 1: too going a home sense and picking out a few
- 19:01Speaker 1: home decre items. Oh my god, this next one.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I need to do this. This is like a non negotiable.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I like, I literally need to do this because if
- 19:10Speaker 1: I don't do this, my phone and my laptop will explode.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I need to do a digital declutter, Like I need
- 19:16Speaker 1: to organize my laptop. I need to go through files.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I need to delete the files that I don't need.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I have so many videos and so many photos on
- 19:24Speaker 1: my phone. Like guys, I pay for extra storage with Apple,
- 19:27Speaker 1: like on top of the storage that I'm probably already
- 19:29Speaker 1: paying for.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Like it's wild.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I have the biggest iPhone with the biggest storage, and
- 19:33Speaker 1: then I also pay for storage with iCloud, Like it's
- 19:35Speaker 1: absolutely wild. So definitely gonna make the effort of deleting
- 19:40Speaker 1: some stuff. I literally have like so many photos from
- 19:42Speaker 1: our wedding and videos that I just don't want to delete.
- 19:44Speaker 2: So I almost like.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Want to buy a second phone so I don't have
- 19:48Speaker 1: to delete stuff in order to accommodate, you know, storage,
- 19:51Speaker 1: So I actually think I might do that just because
- 19:53Speaker 1: for my sake, I feel like I can't delete anymore.
- 19:56Speaker 1: There's definitely certain things I can delete, like obviously all
- 19:59Speaker 1: the v log miscl that I've filmed from the beginning
- 20:01Speaker 1: of December, and then obviously by the end of December,
- 20:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna have literally all these videos that I don't need,
- 20:07Speaker 1: so like deleting all that will feel really good and
- 20:10Speaker 1: just any like random videos that I feel like I
- 20:12Speaker 1: don't need. Obviously, I want to keep stuff regarding like
- 20:15Speaker 1: the house process of the building and all that, so
- 20:17Speaker 1: there'll be certain things that I'll be able to delete.
- 20:19Speaker 1: In certain things that I won't, but I do think
- 20:21Speaker 1: it feels really good to just get rid of things
- 20:24Speaker 1: that you no longer need on your phone, whether it's
- 20:27Speaker 1: apps again, if you have big files on your laptop
- 20:30Speaker 1: to get rid of, just like deleting things that you're
- 20:33Speaker 1: not currently using. Another thing is checking your subscriptions. So
- 20:38Speaker 1: Gmail has this new setting where you can now go
- 20:42Speaker 1: through things that you're subscribed to and you can actually
- 20:45Speaker 1: remove yourself from that subscription. So I just discovered this
- 20:50Speaker 1: recently and it has been a game changer. I literally
- 20:52Speaker 1: did this the other day because my email was getting
- 20:54Speaker 1: way too overfilled. So I literally went through it and
- 20:58Speaker 1: I deleted all these subscriptions that I didn't even know
- 21:01Speaker 1: I was subscribed to, and I'm like, wow, okay, we
- 21:03Speaker 1: need to get rid of this stuff. So that's kind
- 21:05Speaker 1: of like things like you know, Spotify could be you know,
- 21:09Speaker 1: things that you've purchased online, like maybe you've signed up
- 21:12Speaker 1: for random you know, membership things for a discount code
- 21:16Speaker 1: that one time, and now you're like automatically subscribed to
- 21:19Speaker 1: for example, H and M, and it's like I don't
- 21:22Speaker 1: want to get this email anymore, Like I want to
- 21:25Speaker 1: be off this email. You can just like completely get
- 21:27Speaker 1: off of it. But there could also be things like
- 21:29Speaker 1: Apple Music or Spotify, like do you need both, let's
- 21:32Speaker 1: pick one or the other. Do you need all the
- 21:34Speaker 1: TV subscriptions like Netflix, Crave, Disney all that.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Can you cut it down to two instead of three?
- 21:39Speaker 1: So just kind of going through all those subscriptions to
- 21:42Speaker 1: seeing if you actually need it or not. And also
- 21:45Speaker 1: just like those annoying emails that you get from those brands,
- 21:48Speaker 1: Like I said, like clothing brands, like sometimes you sign
- 21:50Speaker 1: up for an email to get ten percent off and
- 21:52Speaker 1: then you're getting like hundreds and hundreds of emails from
- 21:55Speaker 1: this brand about any promotion or any new thing that's
- 21:58Speaker 1: coming in. It's like, let's just get out of that
- 22:01Speaker 1: and just remove it. That way, your inbox is not
- 22:03Speaker 1: going crazy. So Gmail now has an option where you
- 22:06Speaker 1: can delete that, so definitely look into that. I don't
- 22:09Speaker 1: know if Outlook also has that. They might, but I
- 22:13Speaker 1: definitely know that Gmail does it. Another thing is scheduling
- 22:16Speaker 1: appointments for the new year. So your doctor's appointments just
- 22:19Speaker 1: kind of like annual checkups, dentist appointments. I've already booked
- 22:23Speaker 1: my doctor's appointment for the new year, so that's covered
- 22:26Speaker 1: for me. I do need to book a dentist appointment.
- 22:28Speaker 1: That's something that I've definitely been putting off, so that's
- 22:31Speaker 1: something I need to make a priority. I love to
- 22:33Speaker 1: kind of do those in the beginning of the year too,
- 22:35Speaker 1: Like usually I'll have all my appointments booked in January
- 22:37Speaker 1: or February. That waits out of the way, don't need
- 22:40Speaker 1: to worry about it, but it feels good to kind
- 22:42Speaker 1: of just like have the appointments booked, knowing that you're
- 22:45Speaker 1: all set up. Sometimes you can also like think of
- 22:48Speaker 1: appointments that maybe you've been avoiding, like hair appointments.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Maybe it's time to get a haircut that.
- 22:53Speaker 1: You've been avoiding, or you know, getting your nails done,
- 22:56Speaker 1: whatever the case may be. Again, just scheduling disappointments so
- 22:59Speaker 1: you feel good good going.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Into the new year.
- 23:01Speaker 1: It always feels really good.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Another thing I feel like always.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Makes a huge difference too going into the new year
- 23:07Speaker 1: is refreshing my calendar. So I currently use Google Calendar.
- 23:11Speaker 1: It's very chaotic right now, I think, just because there's
- 23:14Speaker 1: so many different meetings booked for work on top of
- 23:19Speaker 1: house planning and all that. So I really want to
- 23:21Speaker 1: just like organize it better. And I really just also
- 23:24Speaker 1: want to be better at using my Google calendar for
- 23:27Speaker 1: twenty twenty six, I feel like I can have it
- 23:29Speaker 1: definitely more organized than it is right now. I feel
- 23:32Speaker 1: like right now it's just like random things everywhere, and
- 23:35Speaker 1: I feel like I need to like color coordinate it
- 23:36Speaker 1: or something so it's easier to read. Also, let me
- 23:41Speaker 1: know if you have any like maybe different digital calendar
- 23:44Speaker 1: apps that you recommend versus Google Calendar, Like maybe there's
- 23:48Speaker 1: something better out there that I'm not aware of that
- 23:51Speaker 1: could be better, So let me know. Because I'm not
- 23:53Speaker 1: a physical calendar girl, Like I don't have a calendar up.
- 23:57Speaker 2: In my kitchen. Although maybe I could have.
- 24:00Speaker 1: A digital calendar in the new house, I don't know,
- 24:02Speaker 1: like in the next pantry. That could be good. I
- 24:06Speaker 1: think that will be beneficial when I actually have kids
- 24:08Speaker 1: and like we're going to sporting events and leaving the
- 24:11Speaker 1: house more for certain things. I might not need a
- 24:13Speaker 1: digital calendar for just Zach.
- 24:15Speaker 2: And I because I feel like we kind of know
- 24:16Speaker 2: our schedules.
- 24:17Speaker 1: But sometimes there is certain things that like Zach has,
- 24:20Speaker 1: you know, hockey or baseball or whatever certain nights and
- 24:23Speaker 1: I have stuff that I do when it comes to workout, classes,
- 24:26Speaker 1: things with my friends, whatever, So just kind of like.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Knowing our schedules.
- 24:30Speaker 1: It could be nice to actually have a physical digital
- 24:33Speaker 1: calendar up in our kitchen just to kind of see
- 24:36Speaker 1: what's going on for him, what's going on for me.
- 24:38Speaker 1: As of right now, I'm just using my iPhone for
- 24:40Speaker 1: Google Calendar, and it works, but I just feel like
- 24:43Speaker 1: I need to be more organized and just be better
- 24:45Speaker 1: at inputting dates when it comes to like appointments and
- 24:48Speaker 1: meetings and all that. But it is helpful, but I
- 24:52Speaker 1: feel like there might be something better out there. But
- 24:54Speaker 1: obviously refreshing your calendar if you have a physical one
- 24:57Speaker 1: by a twenty twenty six to one if you have
- 24:58Speaker 1: a digital one, making it all like prepared and ready
- 25:03Speaker 1: for January and the following months for twenty twenty six.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Another thing to be aware of that you should really
- 25:10Speaker 1: be checking going into the new year is membership. So
- 25:13Speaker 1: whether it's a gym membership or just a membership that
- 25:17Speaker 1: you've been paying for maybe for many many months that
- 25:19Speaker 1: you're not using or it just doesn't serve you anymore.
- 25:23Speaker 1: I think it's so important to just kind of reevaluate
- 25:25Speaker 1: and It kind of goes hand in hand with a
- 25:27Speaker 1: financial reset as well. So maybe you've been wanting to
- 25:31Speaker 1: cut costs down and you didn't realize that you were
- 25:33Speaker 1: paying a membership fee for something that you might not
- 25:36Speaker 1: do anymore. It's time to cancel it. We do not
- 25:39Speaker 1: need it anymore. I personally, like have certain gym memberships
- 25:43Speaker 1: that I've canceled because I don't go there anymore. So
- 25:46Speaker 1: I'm only paying for memberships to places that I'm actually
- 25:48Speaker 1: going to that I actually go consistently.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Too.
- 25:51Speaker 1: If I'm not going to that workout studio every week, like,
- 25:55Speaker 1: why am I paying for the membership?
- 25:56Speaker 2: Like to me, like, that's a waste of money.
- 25:58Speaker 1: So really review your membership and just see if you're
- 26:00Speaker 1: actually using this stuff and if it's actually worth it.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Same thing goes for again Apple Music Spotify, Like do
- 26:07Speaker 1: you need both? Probably not, so pick one to the other.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Again.
- 26:10Speaker 1: It just kind of helps with a bit of a
- 26:12Speaker 1: financial reset in the sense as well of not overspending
- 26:15Speaker 1: on memberships and only paying for one platform for certain things,
- 26:20Speaker 1: whether it is the gym or it is your music.
- 26:24Speaker 1: And then, as I said, the whole financial reset thing,
- 26:26Speaker 1: it could be really good just to make sure that
- 26:29Speaker 1: you're paying everything that you want to pay for on
- 26:32Speaker 1: a monthly basis. You don't want to be paying for
- 26:34Speaker 1: things that you're obviously not using. It's also good to
- 26:38Speaker 1: do a bit of a financial reset for preparing for
- 26:41Speaker 1: tax season and just kind of like reviewing your budgets,
- 26:44Speaker 1: Like if you are wanting to save for a house,
- 26:47Speaker 1: if you're wanting to save for a wedding, like obviously,
- 26:49Speaker 1: I think doing a financial reset would be really beneficial
- 26:52Speaker 1: just to make sure you're on track for saving for
- 26:56Speaker 1: this big event that you plan on having. Like I said,
- 26:59Speaker 1: if it's a wedding, if it's buying a house, like
- 27:02Speaker 1: making some financial cuts and really reviewing things of like
- 27:05Speaker 1: what do we actually need to spend our money on.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Like yeah, I think it's just important to kind of
- 27:09Speaker 1: just do like a financial review reset, just making sure
- 27:13Speaker 1: that things are like all in line for your finances
- 27:18Speaker 1: for the new year. This is something that I think
- 27:20Speaker 1: is also a non negotiable when it comes to going
- 27:23Speaker 1: into a new year. Is just kind of like replacing
- 27:27Speaker 1: things that might be worn out. So my laptop, I think,
- 27:31Speaker 1: is I want to say, seven years old, and she
- 27:34Speaker 1: is like she is definitely due for an upgrade, like
- 27:38Speaker 1: she is dying. She does not work at all, to
- 27:41Speaker 1: be honest, that is something that I've been completely avoiding.
- 27:44Speaker 1: But like I think it's timed upgrade. It's been seven years.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I think we're due for a new laptop. So that's
- 27:51Speaker 1: just something that's been like very worn out that like
- 27:53Speaker 1: I need to replace. But there's also things like you know,
- 27:56Speaker 1: clothing basics, Like think about a white tank or a
- 27:59Speaker 1: white T shirt. If you've had the same white tank
- 28:01Speaker 1: or white T shirt for like five years, it's kind
- 28:03Speaker 1: of looking ratty. You know, it's not really crisp and
- 28:06Speaker 1: white anymore. It's kind of stained. Maybe it's time to
- 28:10Speaker 1: you know, replund that and purchase something different and again
- 28:14Speaker 1: that new feeling going into the new year, replacing it again,
- 28:17Speaker 1: maybe getting something that's better quality that will last you
- 28:20Speaker 1: a bit longer. Just kind of going through things that
- 28:22Speaker 1: are kind of worn out that you want to replace.
- 28:25Speaker 1: It could be also like a new phone case, a
- 28:27Speaker 1: new laptop case again, something that you've just been wanting
- 28:30Speaker 1: to replace, a new planner, a new calendar, a new journal,
- 28:34Speaker 1: like just replacing things that are due for a replacement going.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Into the new year.
- 28:39Speaker 1: That wait, everything again is freshly reset. It feels new,
- 28:43Speaker 1: and it's kind of a great start to the new
- 28:46Speaker 1: year knowing that you've replaced those items and it will
- 28:49Speaker 1: just feel good going into the new year that you
- 28:51Speaker 1: actually made the effort of replacing them. This next one
- 28:54Speaker 1: is something that I feel like I just need a
- 28:56Speaker 1: reminder sometimes because it's just something that I kind of
- 28:59Speaker 1: forget doing. And that's cleaning my car out. I think
- 29:01Speaker 1: that's something that we all kind of forget sometimes. It's
- 29:04Speaker 1: hard when you're a winter girl like me, Like I
- 29:07Speaker 1: have really bad winters here, so literally it gets so
- 29:12Speaker 1: slushy and so dirty, like my car, the exterior of
- 29:15Speaker 1: it is like salt stain, completely just not it at all.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I'm there's no point in even going through the car
- 29:22Speaker 1: wash because literally I would go through the car wash,
- 29:24Speaker 1: I would drive home and my car would look the
- 29:26Speaker 1: exact scene because it just doesn't last in the winter.
- 29:29Speaker 1: But you know, obviously having that reminder of just like
- 29:33Speaker 1: going inside your car taking out stuff that you're no
- 29:35Speaker 1: longer using, I know, I definitely want to do that
- 29:38Speaker 1: once we're done all of our holiday dinners with our
- 29:41Speaker 1: family and friends and all that, I really want to
- 29:43Speaker 1: clean out my car, take whatever's in the trunk that
- 29:45Speaker 1: I don't need out, you know, vacuuming the carpet, cleaning
- 29:49Speaker 1: the leather, all that. Again, it's just kind of like
- 29:51Speaker 1: a nice little reset for the new year of having
- 29:53Speaker 1: a clean car. And I think that's just something that
- 29:55Speaker 1: I don't know as a girl, I just kind of
- 29:57Speaker 1: forget doing that. I feel like some men that are
- 30:00Speaker 1: like really obsessed with our car will like really.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Like keep up to date with that and all that.
- 30:04Speaker 1: But I love my car, love her to death, but
- 30:07Speaker 1: I just like have a hard time remembering, like, oh,
- 30:09Speaker 1: I should probably clean my car. So that's just something
- 30:12Speaker 1: that I always forget and just figured I would include
- 30:15Speaker 1: it into this little end of year reset as a
- 30:17Speaker 1: little reminder. And the last step is really just starting
- 30:22Speaker 1: to plan out twenty twenty six our goals, things that
- 30:26Speaker 1: we envision ourselves doing for the new year ahead. Obviously,
- 30:30Speaker 1: we want to achieve big goals for ourselves, and obviously
- 30:34Speaker 1: I think it's just super important to kind of have
- 30:36Speaker 1: a plan of how you plan on achieving these things
- 30:38Speaker 1: for yourself. So I don't want to touch on this
- 30:41Speaker 1: too much, because I do think we're going to focus
- 30:43Speaker 1: a lot on this specific topic in the next episode
- 30:47Speaker 1: about you know, creating categories of goals that we want
- 30:50Speaker 1: to achieve, whether it's career, lifestyle, health and wellness, relationship, finances, skincare,
- 30:56Speaker 1: you name it. We're obviously going to talk about, you know,
- 30:59Speaker 1: how we're going to set those goals for ourselves, how
- 31:00Speaker 1: are we going to make them realistic, and how are
- 31:03Speaker 1: we going to actually take action and achieve those things
- 31:05Speaker 1: for ourselves. So that will be in the next episode
- 31:09Speaker 1: for anyone that wants a bit of a refresh on
- 31:12Speaker 1: how to create a vision board, maybe talk about things
- 31:16Speaker 1: that we can reflect on from this past year and
- 31:18Speaker 1: what we're going to do in this new year that's different.
- 31:21Speaker 2: In order to make changes to.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Those goals that you may have not achieved this year
- 31:27Speaker 1: that you want to achieve for twenty twenty six. How
- 31:29Speaker 1: are we going to do that. Okay, we're going to
- 31:30Speaker 1: take action and we're going to do these things. So
- 31:32Speaker 1: that is today's episode. I really loved this episode. I
- 31:35Speaker 1: think this is exactly what everyone should strive to do
- 31:38Speaker 1: before the new year, and I know I'm doing this.
- 31:42Speaker 1: I love to do a big, full factory reset before
- 31:45Speaker 1: I enter a new year because I do think it
- 31:46Speaker 1: feels really really good just to kind of get these
- 31:49Speaker 1: things out of the way and just go into the
- 31:52Speaker 1: new year with clear mindset, knowing that everything in the
- 31:55Speaker 1: home is clean.
- 31:56Speaker 2: It feels fully reset.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I feel really organized going into the new year, year ahead,
- 32:00Speaker 1: and yeah, I just think it's gonna feel really really
- 32:02Speaker 1: good to have all these things done before twenty twenty six.
