- France keeps rolling! This is The Sports Reset for Friday July 10th In the World Cup quarterfinals, France beat Morocco 2 to 0 at Gillette Stadium, with Kylian Mbappe shaking off a saved first-half penalty and keeping in the Golden Boot conversation. At Wimbledon, the WTA semifinals gave the day its sharpest turn: Karolina Muchova beat Coco Gauff 6 to 2, 1 to 6, 7 to 6, taking the decider 12 to 10 in the breaker, and Linda Noskova beat Marta Kostyuk 6 to 4, 6 to 4. That sets up an all-Czech final, with Muchova coming through the tougher escape and Noskova taking the straighter path. In MLB, the New York Yankees broke out for a 12 to 4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, while the Philadelphia Phillies edged the Cincinnati Reds 1 to 0 in the tightest baseball result of the night. Looking ahead, the World Cup quarterfinal stage stays front and centre today with Belgium meeting Spain at SoFi Stadium, the kind of knockout game where one mistake can send a favourite home. In MLB, the Jays visit the San Diego Padres at Petco Park, while the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers get a Texas matchup at Globe Life Field. The Boston Red Sox also visit the New York Mets, and the New York Yankees move into Washington against the Nationals after that big offensive night in Tampa. In golf, the Genesis Scottish Open resumes with Jordan Smith at 9 under and Matt Fitzpatrick one back, while the ISCO Championship has Lucas Glover, Troy Merritt, and Stephan Jaeger sharing the lead at 7 under. On the LPGA side, Aki Iwai starts the next round of the Amundi Evian Championship at 10 under, four shots clear of Jeeno Thitikul and Nastasia Nadaud.
