- 0:00Every coin can have two faces, and sometimes people can have two faces.
- 0:06My name is Angel. This is another episode of Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 0:09And today's episode is entitled, Fake People.
- 0:13When I was a child, my mom always told me, Angel, when you were born,
- 0:18all the angels came from heaven.
- 0:20Do you know why? Because you're special.
- 0:22On June 16, 2018, I launched my show, Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 0:27I always wanted to change the world, share my personal testimony,
- 0:31share real-life stories and motivational topics to set out to go out and change the world.
- 0:36Join me each and every week, Monday through Friday at 6 a.m.,
- 0:40because this is a show all about faith.
- 0:43My name is Angel, and welcome to Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 0:45Music.
- 0:51Hello, everyone, and welcome to another episode of Have Faith,
- 0:54Let It Begin. And well, I can't believe I'm about to say this.
- 0:57I actually have two guests with me today.
- 0:59So to my left, I'd like to introduce you to my sister, Leanne.
- 1:03Leanne, welcome to our show.
- 1:05Thank you for having me. Awesome. And to my right, my sister-in-law, Jen.
- 1:09Welcome, Jen. Hi, Angel. And this is weird because they're probably going to
- 1:12make fun of me a little bit and you're going to hear me get made fun of because
- 1:15they actually like to make fun of me when I make my episodes,
- 1:19but that's okay. It's a family thing.
- 1:20The reason why we're here is because you heard the introduction.
- 1:24It's called fake people and one of the things
- 1:26that has troubled me in the last year or so is just watching how many people
- 1:32we interact with each and every day that we may assume are people that we can
- 1:38trust that we can put our faith into yet when we're not looking when we least expect it,
- 1:46they turn out to be something different someone different.
- 1:51So with the panel that we have today, we have two people here,
- 1:55well-educated and well-diverse in meeting new people each and every day,
- 2:00I propose the question, what is a fake person to you? And have you ever encountered one?
- 2:07Sometimes I ask myself if I'm the fake person. Really? Yeah,
- 2:11that's a joke. I'm not a fake person.
- 2:13Okay, good one. I'm not a fake person. But here's how I always think of people.
- 2:20I always ask myself, what exactly does it take to be fake?
- 2:24And I always think of three things.
- 2:27Number one, someone that puts other people down.
- 2:31Two, someone that is always out for themselves, and that's the only reason they're nice to you.
- 2:38And three, they make promises, but they never keep them.
- 2:43That's deep. So that's how I judge a fake person. What about you, Jen?
- 2:50You know i take it a little bit a little
- 2:53you know i just say i go i think
- 2:56of facebook and i and i call it fake book
- 2:59when you have people in your life
- 3:02and you know you know about their life you
- 3:05know how they feel about their husbands or
- 3:08you know how they feel about a particular person
- 3:11and then the next thing you know you see pictures up on facebook how wonderful
- 3:17things are and just it's all it's all for show and then you just say to yourself
- 3:22wow sometimes I just wish that you could just write this is just totally fake and then you just,
- 3:29I'm like so done with Facebook because of those reasons.
- 3:33So you think that social media has a factor where people are putting out things
- 3:37that maybe are not exactly what they perceive to be?
- 3:40Absolutely. So they're the total opposite. So they use social media to and in
- 3:45this case their advantage In their opinion To make themselves look better than they are.
- 3:51But here's the thing. When you're at work, for example, my job,
- 3:56the job that I work in or the jobs I have worked in, I should say,
- 3:59not current job, the jobs I've worked in, I've worked in, and my viewers know I've worked in sales.
- 4:04And the hardest thing I felt was dealing with somebody who says,
- 4:08and this goes into what you said, Leanne, dealing with a sales representative
- 4:11that makes a promise and all of a sudden that promise doesn't hold true.
- 4:15So here you are thinking that you got somebody here that has your back.
- 4:19And then all of a sudden, they've done nothing but stab you in the back.
- 4:24You know what I mean? That's tough. Now, let's pause for a second.
- 4:27We got to acknowledge the background noise because we're actually at my mom's house.
- 4:30And for those of you that are Spanish, you would know that's the scraping of
- 4:33a caldero, which means she just got done making rice.
- 4:37And we have to acknowledge that. But it's all good. It's all good.
- 4:40That's why it's a family show.
- 4:41And you know what? It's in a fake episode. No. That's it.
- 4:45That's it. We don't edit on the show. But that's what I thought of when you said that.
- 4:50Well, you know, I'm going to stick to what you were saying, but I definitely
- 4:53want to go back to what Jen was saying because that's its own episode almost of like the pressure of.
- 5:01Let's call it social media. We don't want to do as a sponsor of Facebook.
- 5:04No, it's in general. It has nothing to do with Facebook. It's just the social aspect.
- 5:10I think as adults, we're grown already. We think if we think that we are above
- 5:16feeling the pressures, the peer pressure, we're not.
- 5:20All this social media brings us way back to the high school days of feeling
- 5:24the pressure of living up to everybody's expectations of, you know,
- 5:29what a fabulous relationship you're in.
- 5:32So, I mean, I can go that route, but sticking to the three points that I had
- 5:36made, friends in general, making promises that you can't keep really irk me.
- 5:44Like you see someone at the mall and like, oh, we need to hang out.
- 5:49But then they never contact you.
- 5:52You know, unless they need something. That's tough. Okay. Let me,
- 5:56let me, let me ask you something.
- 5:58What this made me go. I don't want to go off topic, but it's kind of makes me think of something.
- 6:02If somebody calls you and they're the constant one calling you,
- 6:06but you're the one that forgets to kind of call back, not because you don't
- 6:09want to, you just forget. You're just bad at it.
- 6:12All right. It's me. I'm doing, I'm talking to myself here. Is that the same person?
- 6:17No, Because I think ultimately you kind of know that you're either busy, you have a new baby.
- 6:24There are times where you're not going to be able to reciprocate a friend's favor.
- 6:30But that's not the same. I'm talking about that person that comes around when
- 6:38you know they know that you're going to have a New Year's Eve party.
- 6:41Like, oh, New Year's Eve's coming. Let me start calling up Jen because she has
- 6:45an awesome New Year's Eve party.
- 6:47Okay, okay, okay. Or summer rolls around and you know that Angel has, let's say, a boat.
- 6:54That friend. Almost like a church when people only come for the major holidays.
- 7:01I'm just saying. Just saying. I guess that could be perceived as fake,
- 7:05but maybe they worship on their own.
- 7:08I know people that receive worship on blogs. Okay.
- 7:14I don't. I would like to actually go to your church. I don't know.
- 7:17I feel like I feel it more.
- 7:19But there's a lot of people that maybe don't want to go to church on their own.
- 7:23And then they watch episodes on either TV or whatnot.
- 7:27So let's talk about that phone call. I mean, let's stick with that topic before
- 7:30we go to the next one. Let's stick with that. So you're saying people that actually call you.
- 7:35Out of the blue. When they need something. When they need something.
- 7:38Have you ever had anybody like that? Oh, I only have two friends.
- 7:41You don't have two? I, I, I, I, listen, I keep my circle real.
- 7:45I don't need to laugh. I know. Guess what? I only have three.
- 7:48So we're good. And my viewers now. Yeah. I keep my circle small for that reason.
- 7:53Oh, sorry. Okay. What's the reason for that?
- 7:55Exactly. For the reason that Leanne was just talking about.
- 7:59Okay. Because when I talk to someone, I want it to be authentic and I want it
- 8:03to be, you know, If I need something, you're there.
- 8:07If you need something, we're just there.
- 8:10Again, it's fake.
- 8:13I did an episode a while back where the episode was about making friends or having friends.
- 8:18The one thing that I could tell you is what constitutes a good friend?
- 8:23In a way, to segue from that, you only have two. I can say I have three.
- 8:29What is your idealistic of a good friend? because that would actually take away
- 8:34from the person that's a genuine friend as opposed to the one who's a fake.
- 8:38A friend that understands that just because I don't call,
- 8:43doesn't mean that I don't like them or I'm mad at them, that we can go three
- 8:51weeks without talking, two months without talking, and pick up like it was yesterday.
- 8:57That if I decide to take my kids to Disney, that I don't need to call them and invite them.
- 9:03So if they see the Facebook pictures, oh my goodness, you didn't invite them?
- 9:08That would constitute as a no-go for me. A friend would be understanding.
- 9:14I have people like that. What do you think, Jen? No, that's absolutely.
- 9:20When I have this saying, too needy or too much work. So I have friends that are like that.
- 9:28They expect you to call them every day. And when you don't, they get upset.
- 9:32Or if you go a week without calling them, it's like, listen,
- 9:35I have a life. I've got children.
- 9:38My life revolves around my children and work and my husband.
- 9:42That's our circle. So if I don't call you every day, or if I don't invite you
- 9:47to do something, it's not that I don't want to be friends with you.
- 9:51It's just that, like you said, maybe something came up or I didn't think about it.
- 9:56But I'm seriously not to put it out there, but I had a very close friend that
- 10:01now I didn't talk to anymore for that reason. Where did this start?
- 10:06Because I don't remember, maybe because we get older, I guess. I don't know more.
- 10:10I'm not tuned to it. I've never heard of such a person getting offended for having one action.
- 10:19If you're going to go to a party and you're in a circle of the same friends
- 10:23and that person doesn't get invited and you go, how is it that they were supposed to be invited?
- 10:28And where does that fall? Is that lack of confidence?
- 10:32Is that low self-esteem? What is that? Because I don't get that.
- 10:36You know, I really don't know because I don't get offended if someone doesn't invite me.
- 10:44And I think you're going to see it possibly more now that you have a child.
- 10:49Because in my circle of friends, they're really they don't have children.
- 10:54So I don't get invited to a lot of events that are for either singles or people without children.
- 11:01And I don't get mad at that, but, you know, maybe someone else would get mad
- 11:06or, you know, they assume you can't hang out and that's why they don't they don't invite you.
- 11:11But I don't call and say, hey, how come I wasn't invited to to an event?
- 11:17But there's friends that will call you out and say, oh, that's nice of you to
- 11:20have an event without us.
- 11:22And I think that's where that fake friendships are.
- 11:27I don't have to invite you, and I don't dislike you because I didn't invite
- 11:32you. I just chose not to invite you.
- 11:35And maybe it has something to do with women and men. I don't know.
- 11:39As a female, I don't know if it's just my circle of female friends. I think so. I don't know.
- 11:44Yeah, I believe that. I don't think men are like that.
- 11:48Do you believe that because of that, you've had more fallouts with friends?
- 11:54In this situation where we're talking about not being included,
- 11:57or they feel that they're not being included when in reality you're just going
- 12:01to do whatever you're doing with your friends.
- 12:03Like in your case, you took your family to Disney.
- 12:05All of a sudden, people are like, whoa, I didn't get included.
- 12:07Do you think that there's fallout because of that?
- 12:10Have you had fallout before because of it? I think that's the most ridiculous
- 12:13thing I've ever heard, honestly.
- 12:15You're going somewhere with your family you're going to
- 12:17disney i find that that's ridiculous could you
- 12:21give a friend like that is what i'm saying i you know
- 12:24what i'm sure people get hurt i've never had someone directly tell me i can't
- 12:28believe you didn't invite me that's never really happened to me but there's
- 12:34always those indirect comments or on facebook they'll put you know oh that's
- 12:39nice that you went there and you're like oh i wonder if that's a dig.
- 12:43You know you know it's where jen's talking about that whole social media and you know,
- 12:50i don't get it what's the last topic that we
- 12:52have to go into because we're going to actually stop right
- 12:56here and i'm going to purposely leave everybody on a cliffhanger so if you want
- 13:00to tune into fake people part two i suggest you tune into tomorrow's episode
- 13:04because we're going to keep rolling but for you people you're going to have
- 13:08to wait till tomorrow so be on the lookout out for tomorrow's episode. It's Fake People Part 2.
- 13:13And for those of you, have faith, let it begin.
- 13:17Thank you for listening to another episode of Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 13:20You're going to hear episodes, me recording live as my daughter in the background,
- 13:24Ariel, will probably cry.
- 13:26You'll hear background noises like phone calls.
- 13:28And right on the cue, she's starting to cry. Don't worry, everybody.
- 13:32We're going to continue on like never before.
- 13:35And with Ariel in the background, knowing in the future, you're going to hear
- 13:38yourself crying like this, Mama?
- 13:40Yeah. Say hi to everybody out there. We just want to encourage each one,
- 13:43every one of you to join us every single weekday, Monday through Friday at 6 a.m.
- 13:47Join me, Ariel, my family, and everyone as we continue our journey.
- 13:52For Have Faith, Let It Begin, my name is Angel.
- 13:54Say goodbye, Ariel. Say bye. Bye.
- 13:58Music.
