- 0:03Speaker 1: could destroy in 30 days.
- 0:05Speaker 2: I'm going to regret this.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Welcome to the Nerd Party. Hi, this is Nick Anastasio,
- 0:15Speaker 3: lead editor and writer on Maul Shadowlord, and you're listening
- 0:19Speaker 3: to Aggressive Negotiations.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Welcome to a very special Aggressive Negotiations, celebrating the week
- 0:31Speaker 1: of Halloween in 2026.
- 0:34Speaker 4: And that's about all I'm going to do that voice for.
- 0:36Speaker 4: I'm Jedi Master John Mills, and joining me for this
- 0:39Speaker 4: very special episode of Aggressive Negotiations is my dear friend,
- 0:43Speaker 4: my spooky compatriot, Jedi Master Matthew Rushing. Matt, are you
- 0:47Speaker 4: ready to thrill the audience this week?
- 0:49Speaker 3: What are we going to count today?
- 0:53Speaker 1: We are going to count how many systems a Death
- 0:55Speaker 1: Star could destroy in 30 days.
- 0:58Speaker 2: You want to.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Know what's great? As I was in a meeting today
- 1:01Speaker 3: and I used, this station is now the ultimate power
- 1:04Speaker 3: in the universe. I suggest we use that.
- 1:07Speaker 4: You know, I'll sidebar here and I'll say I'll give
- 1:11Speaker 4: somebody on Instagram some credit because they shared some meme
- 1:15Speaker 4: or whatever. And it shows Mahdi, you know, being choked.
- 1:20Speaker 4: And it has George Michael with his guitar playing. And
- 1:23Speaker 4: it says, I find your lack of faith disturbing.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Fantastic. I was like, all right, there's a deep cut.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Fantastic.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I appreciate that. That's very good. Hats off.
- 1:31Speaker 4: And hats off to anybody that goes ahead and gives
- 1:32Speaker 4: a star rating and review over on Apple Podcasts.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Recommend us to your friends. You know what? Go around.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Stand on the corner with a big sign. Instead of panhandling,
- 1:41Speaker 4: you could have a cardboard sign saying, listen to aggressive negotiations.
- 1:45Speaker 4: People will thank you for it, especially if they're Star
- 1:47Speaker 4: Wars fans. And even if they aren't, it's the strangest thing.
- 1:50Speaker 4: I think we have a great show. Give us a
- 1:52Speaker 4: star rating and review. And of course, follow the socials
- 1:55Speaker 4: at the Jedi masters on X Twitter and at join
- 1:58Speaker 4: nerd party on X Twitter and the nerd party on
- 2:02Speaker 4: Facebook and Instagram. And we're all too old to be
- 2:04Speaker 4: on Tik TOK. So definitely the, yeah, the, uh, the,
- 2:10Speaker 4: the topic for this show is very near and dear
- 2:13Speaker 4: to my heart because I love Halloween.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yes. Huge, huge. Oh my goodness.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:19Speaker 4: I am pumpkin spice from the day it's released until
- 2:23Speaker 4: the day they take it from me and I have
- 2:24Speaker 4: to wait until the next season that people who don't
- 2:28Speaker 4: live where I live call fall.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Anyway, I'm thinking in the Star Wars galaxy.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:37Speaker 4: In an empire or a republic of a million worlds
- 2:41Speaker 4: with all of these crazy creatures and creature designs that
- 2:45Speaker 4: we've seen, we all know that dressing up in costumes,
- 2:48Speaker 4: especially thrilling costumes to scare people, that's part of Halloween.
- 2:52Speaker 4: So if Halloween were to exist in the Star Wars galaxy,
- 2:57Speaker 4: what could you possibly dress as to go around trick-or-treating?
- 3:02Speaker 3: I really love this question. And obviously, I would be
- 3:07Speaker 3: going as a Hutt Slayer. You know, that would be,
- 3:10Speaker 3: I think, one, it's just the outfit that everybody wants
- 3:15Speaker 3: to see me in. And so you're.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Welcome, universe.
- 3:19Speaker 3: And so that's absolutely the first thing that comes to mind.
- 3:22Speaker 3: And yes, you're welcome. You know, I worked hard for
- 3:26Speaker 3: this body and you're going to enjoy it.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Indeed. I, you know.
- 3:32Speaker 4: I'm going to say that if we were to keep
- 3:33Speaker 4: it strictly to Jabba's palace, if you're in a Hutt
- 3:37Speaker 4: Slayer outfit, I'm going to size noodles because I feel
- 3:40Speaker 4: that size noodles has a figure that it more represents mine.
- 3:44Speaker 3: And I can potato stuffed into jeans.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Yes.
- 3:48Speaker 2: That would be, that would be either that, or I'm
- 3:50Speaker 2: going to be droopy McCool.
- 3:51Speaker 4: One of the two of those, but I, you know, I,
- 3:54Speaker 4: I mean this like in like a quasi serious sort
- 3:57Speaker 4: of way, right? Because I, even though we dress up
- 4:00Speaker 4: in costumes, we tend to be thoughtful about, you know,
- 4:03Speaker 4: other people and their sensibilities and stuff like that. So
- 4:06Speaker 4: it's like, are you in a bind? Let's say there's a,
- 4:09Speaker 4: a single planet where Halloween exists. What kind of restrictions
- 4:14Speaker 4: are you under? Because we've seen very clearly established in
- 4:17Speaker 4: star Wars. Like you're not going to dress as, um,
- 4:20Speaker 4: you know, uh, uh, Rodian or a Kowakian lizard monkey or, um,
- 4:27Speaker 4: If you dress as a four-armed giant creature, it's going
- 4:31Speaker 4: to be like, oh, you're Dexter Jester.
- 4:33Speaker 2: It's like, no, I'm a creature.
- 4:34Speaker 4: It's like, yeah, you're Dexter Jester. What are the options
- 4:37Speaker 4: even out there for a Halloween costume for you? If
- 4:42Speaker 4: you dress as a Jedi during the Empire era, you're
- 4:44Speaker 4: going to get killed.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that causes problems. I don't think you stay alive
- 4:48Speaker 3: after that.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Wait, would wearing a Jedi costume during the Imperial era...
- 4:56Speaker 4: be the equivalent of wearing insert your unpopular historical figure, uh,
- 5:04Speaker 4: you know, costume here, right? Like you wouldn't go around
- 5:08Speaker 4: dressed as, uh, you know, I don't know, um, pick a,
- 5:12Speaker 4: a controversial historical figure, right? Who, who would you not
- 5:15Speaker 4: walk around dressed as like, is that the equivalent of
- 5:19Speaker 4: what a Jedi is? Like you're just, You're breaking all
- 5:22Speaker 4: of the social taboos by being a Jedi during the
- 5:24Speaker 4: Imperial Era.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I mean, do you die if you dress up as Palpatine, right? Because,
- 5:32Speaker 3: you know, you're pretending to be.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Palpatine, right? Ooh, yes. That's right.
- 5:38Speaker 3: And so, yeah, do you just die because of that?
- 5:41Speaker 4: Well, think of the possibilities here of actual Palpatine could
- 5:45Speaker 4: go out trick-or-treating and And people will be like, aha,
- 5:49Speaker 4: silly costume. And he just zaps him with lightning and
- 5:51Speaker 4: takes all the candy.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Because he seems like a take the whole candy bowl
- 5:54Speaker 4: kind of guy. It seems like he would do that.
- 5:57Speaker 3: I don't want to mess with him, honestly. Yeah.
- 5:59Speaker 2: But like, what are you going to dress as a Sith?
- 6:03Speaker 4: You know, that seems a little controversial too.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Why not?
- 6:07Speaker 4: What would your options be? Like Republic era, what are
- 6:11Speaker 4: the restrictions? And Imperial era, what are the restrictions?
- 6:13Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I mean I was thinking about this because
- 6:16Speaker 3: it does feel like it would be planet to planet, right?
- 6:20Speaker 3: And I think that there would be things– if you
- 6:25Speaker 3: had this type of holiday on different planets, it would
- 6:29Speaker 3: be about the things that either you find scary on
- 6:34Speaker 3: your planet that nobody else does. And– but also maybe–
- 6:42Speaker 3: It gives you the opportunity to be able to dress
- 6:44Speaker 3: up like one of your alien friends, right? So you
- 6:49Speaker 3: grow up a Naboo. You're a humanoid, and you go
- 6:53Speaker 3: as a Gungan or vice versa maybe. I don't know
- 6:58Speaker 3: how a Gungan tries to dress up as a humanoid human,
- 7:02Speaker 3: but that would be interesting. So– But, like, you know,
- 7:10Speaker 3: we were joking about this idea of streaming in Star Wars,
- 7:12Speaker 3: but I would think, you know, your popular holonet stars
- 7:17Speaker 3: you might dress as, you know? So we know that
- 7:20Speaker 3: the holonet exists for entertainment. You know, maybe you have...
- 7:25Speaker 3: uh itchy special helmet that you're wearing you know this
- 7:28Speaker 3: that you know the special um you know singers that
- 7:32Speaker 3: we saw on uh the holiday special you know oh
- 7:36Speaker 3: um oh.
- 7:37Speaker 4: You could be like the jefferson starship from exactly from
- 7:40Speaker 4: the holiday special why not yeah.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Um so i mean why wouldn't that exist um And
- 7:47Speaker 3: I think depending on what era you're talking about, there
- 7:50Speaker 3: absolutely could be– oh, I'm Luke Skywalker or oh, I'm
- 7:55Speaker 3: Princess Leia. Those type of things, I think you would
- 7:59Speaker 3: actually see that stuff happening, right? I think that would
- 8:02Speaker 3: not be strange to see people dressing up as their
- 8:09Speaker 3: favorite hero of the rebellion in those times.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:16Speaker 3: But yeah, I think that's the interesting part is like
- 8:18Speaker 3: when you think of the different eras of Star Wars,
- 8:21Speaker 3: there would be things that you probably would dress up as.
- 8:25Speaker 3: And then there would be things that you wouldn't dress
- 8:27Speaker 3: up as, right? Depending on what era you were in.
- 8:31Speaker 3: So yeah, I think that's just incredibly interesting to me.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's one of those things as well
- 8:39Speaker 4: where I think maybe just the idea of something like
- 8:42Speaker 4: Halloween– just doesn't carry over necessarily but at the same
- 8:47Speaker 4: time we know that George Lucas himself grew up informed
- 8:52Speaker 4: by these sort of cultural traditions that we.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Have here you know at least in the.
- 8:56Speaker 4: United States and everything so it's like it feels like
- 8:59Speaker 4: it would belong to have some sort of Halloween type
- 9:04Speaker 4: of thing happening yeah like if I saw that happening
- 9:08Speaker 4: in a Star Wars property I would accept it immediately
- 9:11Speaker 4: I'd be like well yeah of course because a lot
- 9:13Speaker 4: of that Americana has seeped its way into the source
- 9:16Speaker 4: material from the beginning. And I don't think we should
- 9:20Speaker 4: ever reject it. We should always be open to the
- 9:22Speaker 4: idea that we would see something recognizable of our own
- 9:25Speaker 4: culture and or cultures reflected in there. I mean, I like,
- 9:31Speaker 4: I immediately go to sort of like almost the comical,
- 9:33Speaker 4: like I would love to see an actual legitimate, silly
- 9:37Speaker 4: 1970 style instead of a holiday special. I would have
- 9:40Speaker 4: loved to see a star Wars Halloween special. where kids
- 9:44Speaker 4: are trick-or-treating and they show up and they go to
- 9:48Speaker 4: like Darth Vader's house and he opens the door and
- 9:51Speaker 4: then they get scared, drop their candy and run away
- 9:53Speaker 4: and he just picks up the candy is like all
- 9:55Speaker 4: too easy yeah you know and like goes like that's
- 9:58Speaker 4: the type of thing i would love somebody to make
- 10:00Speaker 4: that i would like i don't understand why we don't
- 10:02Speaker 4: make that now.
- 10:03Speaker 3: They make a lego one thing special they did there was.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Well there was um there was tales of terror i
- 10:10Speaker 2: think yeah yeah yeah.
- 10:12Speaker 4: Yeah that was good it was fine but i'm talking
- 10:15Speaker 4: about like an all-in sort of like In the vein
- 10:18Speaker 4: of hyperspace hoopla.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Like completely embracing the absurdity of it. I think there's
- 10:24Speaker 4: real potential in that.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's interesting too because like you said
- 10:34Speaker 3: at the beginning, I think the thing that makes this
- 10:36Speaker 3: such an interesting question is the whole fact that You're
- 10:41Speaker 3: not going to– the Star Wars galaxy is so full
- 10:46Speaker 3: of strange and alien creatures already. So the idea of
- 10:53Speaker 3: a Zabrek existing doesn't make them think of the devil anymore.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:00Speaker 3: The way it does for us. Right. Because it's just
- 11:02Speaker 3: a natural look for an alien species in the galaxy
- 11:06Speaker 3: that you've probably seen many of.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:08Speaker 3: And so I think that's what would be interesting is
- 11:12Speaker 3: like the scary part of this would be. And for
- 11:17Speaker 3: the people in the different planets, it would probably be
- 11:21Speaker 3: the alien species who's like an enemy of you or
- 11:25Speaker 3: had been at war with your planet at some point,
- 11:28Speaker 3: something like that. So if you had these small, minor
- 11:35Speaker 3: conflicts or major conflicts that had happened in neighboring systems,
- 11:41Speaker 3: neighboring planets before the galactic revolution, republic became a thing
- 11:49Speaker 3: there is that possibility where it's like you would be
- 11:52Speaker 3: kind of and I feel like you would be reaching
- 11:55Speaker 3: back in time to historical things that have happened that
- 12:02Speaker 3: weren't necessarily a part of what you're experiencing now you
- 12:07Speaker 3: know so again maybe you know your planet was at
- 12:11Speaker 3: war with Dathomir at one point And, you know, right.
- 12:16Speaker 3: So that's what makes them scary to you. But, you know,
- 12:20Speaker 3: that was a millennia ago.
- 12:22Speaker 2: So.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I guess I imagine instead of probably
- 12:29Speaker 4: the thing to resolve, it would be like, you know,
- 12:32Speaker 4: a zombie is a zombie is a zombie. So if
- 12:34Speaker 4: you're a stormtrooper zombie that you're still in the Halloween thing,
- 12:39Speaker 4: it's not that you're dressed as a stormtrooper. It's a
- 12:40Speaker 4: stormtrooper zombie. So like a zombie riff or a ghost
- 12:44Speaker 4: riff on anything is like that's a very clear middle
- 12:49Speaker 4: lane to occupy. But, you know, having glowing eyes or having,
- 12:56Speaker 4: you know, extra fingers or having, you know, like a
- 13:00Speaker 4: different sort of body shape. I think, if anything, what
- 13:04Speaker 4: it does is Halloween and Star Wars would just be
- 13:07Speaker 4: in such a very well-defined middle path.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Right.
- 13:10Speaker 2: You would have to go with a ghost or a
- 13:12Speaker 2: zombie or.
- 13:15Speaker 4: I mean, can you go as like a vampire type
- 13:18Speaker 4: of thing? Aren't there species that we know of that
- 13:21Speaker 4: live parasitically off of.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean... You know, like... Well, I mean, but
- 13:26Speaker 3: I'm also thinking, you know, you could go as a...
- 13:31Speaker 3: Creature on your planet, right? So you could say– Oh, I.
- 13:36Speaker 2: See what you're saying.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Oh, I want to be a loath wolf or a
- 13:38Speaker 3: loath cat or I want to be a Kowalkian monkey
- 13:40Speaker 3: lizard or maybe even– I think– Maybe there are those kids.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I want to be a Hutt. And yeah, making the
- 13:54Speaker 3: paper mache Hutt costume for the parent in the Star
- 13:57Speaker 3: Wars galaxy.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 14:00Speaker 4: I know that I can't go as Radha this year
- 14:02Speaker 4: because they sold out of the costume.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Thanks, everybody. Yeah. That's okay.
- 14:06Speaker 3: I mean you don't have the apps for that, John.
- 14:09Speaker 3: So come on.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I got the arms for it though. Come on. Let's
- 14:12Speaker 2: be honest here. I'm my own man now.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Sure, sure. Come on now.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Well, I mean, the thing is, when you talk about
- 14:17Speaker 4: the creatures and everything, I think anything from the Djeric
- 14:20Speaker 4: match in Mandalorian and Grogu qualifies.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely. Great call.
- 14:25Speaker 4: I don't know how you're going to... I don't know
- 14:27Speaker 4: how you're going to address the big worm thing. I
- 14:29Speaker 4: know they all have names, folks. I don't learn them anymore.
- 14:32Speaker 4: The big worm thing.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:35Speaker 4: With the proboscis and everything like that. Yeah, I could
- 14:40Speaker 4: easily see that.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Like, I.
- 14:42Speaker 4: I would imagine on Shikari that for a generation afterward,
- 14:46Speaker 4: kids dressed as Dejara creatures because that scared the living
- 14:49Speaker 4: bejeebers out of everybody in that city.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:55Speaker 3: But I think that's– what you just said though, it
- 14:58Speaker 3: also makes me think of– I mean how many kids
- 15:02Speaker 3: might dress up– As a Mandalorian, you know, and or again,
- 15:08Speaker 3: like you mentioned, you know, there would be times where
- 15:11Speaker 3: you could have dressed up as a Jedi because that
- 15:13Speaker 3: would be something you'd want to be and you thought
- 15:15Speaker 3: was cool, you know, or, you know, so there's those.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I do think that those type of things wouldn't be
- 15:21Speaker 3: all that unheard of at different points in the Star
- 15:24Speaker 3: Wars galaxy, you know, and during the Republic period or,
- 15:28Speaker 3: you know, after the galactic civil war, you would have
- 15:32Speaker 3: had that type of thing happening. And, you know, it
- 15:37Speaker 3: makes sense, right? Because those were races of beings that
- 15:43Speaker 3: were really cool. And the beauty of like a Jedi or,
- 15:46Speaker 3: you know, especially it's like, you know, Jedi come from
- 15:50Speaker 3: all races. See, in.
- 15:53Speaker 4: My brain, I think it would also be really interesting
- 15:56Speaker 4: if you wanted to do like a Star Wars Halloween
- 16:00Speaker 4: episode of something. Where it would be something where you
- 16:03Speaker 4: would find out that in the very lower levels of Coruscant,
- 16:06Speaker 4: not like the very, very lower levels, but like the
- 16:10Speaker 4: 1313 areas and stuff like that, you would have, you
- 16:15Speaker 4: would find those neighborhoods where they still, like you could
- 16:18Speaker 4: even have like a beautiful thing where like the Jedi
- 16:20Speaker 4: went down there and they see this trick-or-treating thing and
- 16:23Speaker 4: it's completely foreign to the people that live up on
- 16:25Speaker 4: the top levels of Coruscant.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. They have no idea what this is.
- 16:29Speaker 4: And they explain how it's like, They've held on to
- 16:31Speaker 4: the old traditions because it gives them meaning and structure
- 16:35Speaker 4: and balance when they know that they have the weight
- 16:38Speaker 4: of a city planet on top of them.
- 16:40Speaker 2: It roots them.
- 16:41Speaker 4: It lets them feel like there's still some sort of
- 16:44Speaker 4: normalcy and connection when they live on a city planet.
- 16:49Speaker 4: It would seem like this would be a Halloween type
- 16:52Speaker 4: thing would be extremely.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Important to the everyday people.
- 16:58Speaker 4: That aren't like the cloud minders on Coruscant, you know,
- 17:01Speaker 4: the J and the Jedi would be reminded if they
- 17:03Speaker 4: went down there of how disconnected they had come from
- 17:08Speaker 4: the people they claim that they cared about most because
- 17:11Speaker 4: they would have no connection anymore to these important traditions.
- 17:14Speaker 4: It would be foreign to them. Like Coruscant itself, you
- 17:16Speaker 4: could just like peel apart. That layer is like, there's,
- 17:19Speaker 4: there are different cultures on different levels because these people
- 17:23Speaker 4: don't see daylight. So they, you know, like that's sort
- 17:26Speaker 4: of a, a thing where it's like this is the
- 17:28Speaker 4: world they live in and it's completely detached even though
- 17:31Speaker 4: we're on the same planet. You have like a whole beautiful,
- 17:34Speaker 4: you know what? I think we've just brainstormed something again
- 17:37Speaker 4: that we could pitch to Lucasfilm as a standalone like 15,
- 17:41Speaker 4: 20 minute episode.
- 17:42Speaker 2: What do you say? I think we've, I think we
- 17:46Speaker 2: can pitch this.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think that the beauty of Star
- 17:52Speaker 3: Wars is that you can do so many things with
- 17:54Speaker 3: it and I think having watched through The Clone Wars
- 18:00Speaker 3: a few times, you clearly have episodes in that show
- 18:04Speaker 3: specifically that are horror-based, right? And there are episodes, of course,
- 18:10Speaker 3: of Maul's Shadow War that have horror elements to them.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Very much.
- 18:14Speaker 3: And so all of these shows kind of show us
- 18:17Speaker 3: that those elements– can exist in the Star Wars galaxy.
- 18:25Speaker 3: And it's very clear, you know, when you think of
- 18:30Speaker 3: the idea of things to be scared of in the
- 18:34Speaker 3: Star Wars galaxy, there is so much unknown. And so
- 18:39Speaker 3: it would make sense almost why, you know, certain superstitions
- 18:44Speaker 3: would have developed on different planets. And, you know, if
- 18:48Speaker 3: you had a holiday like this, those would be the
- 18:50Speaker 3: things that you would kind of be Utilizing as like,
- 18:55Speaker 3: quote unquote, being scared of for the night. And yeah,
- 19:00Speaker 3: I mean, gosh, you even think of I'm thinking of
- 19:06Speaker 3: the Clone Wars episode where you have, you know, they're on. Oh,
- 19:13Speaker 3: my gosh. I think it's like Trespass and they're on
- 19:16Speaker 3: the snow planet. Right. You know, and you have.
- 19:19Speaker 2: So we're season two.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Season two. And you have that those two species. Right.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Weren't the Kubaz one of the species on that? Yeah.
- 19:28Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember what they're called.
- 19:30Speaker 4: If I'm wrong, please don't kill me. But I'm pretty
- 19:32Speaker 4: sure it was the Kubaz that were the species on that.
- 19:35Speaker 4: Somebody is screaming at us right now.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, look, guys. There's so much on this.
- 19:41Speaker 2: There's a lot to keep track of.
- 19:43Speaker 3: And I'm sorry that I cannot remember. I apologize. But
- 19:45Speaker 3: I'm just thinking, like, those two alien species, right? Thinking...
- 19:50Speaker 3: of– and clearly you have the Pandorans who see this
- 19:58Speaker 3: species as being kind of terrifying. They see them almost
- 20:04Speaker 3: as being a species that feels like– This is the
- 20:08Speaker 3: only way to say it, but it's not what I mean.
- 20:10Speaker 3: You know, it's not totally correct, but like basically subhuman, right?
- 20:14Speaker 3: They kind of see them as less than. And so,
- 20:17Speaker 3: you know, in that, I think that's a place where
- 20:21Speaker 3: it's like you could totally see Pantoran kids dressing up
- 20:25Speaker 3: like that for quote unquote Halloween, you know?
- 20:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's fair. Okay, so last question to
- 20:33Speaker 4: round it out. And it's a two-part question. One, Have
- 20:38Speaker 4: you ever dressed as a Star Wars character for Halloween?
- 20:41Speaker 4: I'm presuming the answer is yes. And two, what is
- 20:47Speaker 4: the coolest Star Wars costume you've seen around the Halloween time?
- 20:52Speaker 2: Now, obviously, the cosplayers are a different level.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I go to a convention.
- 20:56Speaker 4: You guys, that's pro-level stuff. I'm talking about little kids
- 20:59Speaker 4: walking around. What's the coolest little kid costume you've seen?
- 21:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 3: There were the Talt's. I looked them up. That's who
- 21:07Speaker 3: they were. Uh, and so nuts to, yeah, no, I mean,
- 21:11Speaker 3: I didn't remember that until I looked it up. So, um, man, I,
- 21:17Speaker 3: have I ever dressed up as a star? I've actually, this,
- 21:19Speaker 3: this is going to shock people. I've actually never dressed
- 21:21Speaker 3: up as a star Wars character for Halloween. Um, I'm
- 21:25Speaker 3: not a, this will surprise a lot of people. I'm
- 21:27Speaker 3: not a big dresser upper. I don't like dressing up.
- 21:29Speaker 3: And I think the biggest reason for that is because
- 21:31Speaker 3: I don't like being uncomfortable. And most things that you
- 21:34Speaker 3: dress up in aren't comfortable things to want to wear
- 21:37Speaker 3: for an extended period of time i guess unless you're
- 21:40Speaker 3: going as a jedi and then you know they basically
- 21:43Speaker 3: have khaki pants boots and a nice top you know
- 21:46Speaker 3: hot top bro uh.
- 21:48Speaker 4: And this is the key difference between us is i
- 21:50Speaker 4: have a flair for the dramatic i and i've always loved.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Dressing i do not especially at halloween time yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 3: My wife hates that about me yeah um But, dude,
- 21:59Speaker 3: so we– my wife and I, the last few years,
- 22:04Speaker 3: we've helped out at our kids' carnival at church. And
- 22:08Speaker 3: we have run a booth that is called Bloat the
- 22:12Speaker 3: Death Star. And I had printed specifically off a pattern
- 22:18Speaker 3: I found a layover for a cornhole set. So it
- 22:25Speaker 3: looks like the Death Star trench hole. And yeah, so
- 22:29Speaker 3: the kids are trying to throw it and blow up
- 22:31Speaker 3: the Death Star so they can get candy.
- 22:32Speaker 2: I love it. It's awesome. I love it.
- 22:34Speaker 3: But last year we had this cute little boy come
- 22:37Speaker 3: up and he was dressed like the Mandalorian. And it
- 22:41Speaker 3: was just so adorable. And it just made my heart,
- 22:44Speaker 3: you know, anytime you see a kid dressed up as
- 22:48Speaker 3: a Star Wars character, it's great. We saw some babies
- 22:51Speaker 3: dressed up as baby Grogu. which is super cute as well.
- 22:55Speaker 3: So like, yeah, that kind of stuff, just like, I
- 22:57Speaker 3: love it, man. What about you?
- 23:00Speaker 4: Well, I'm biased because it took a lifetime, but finally
- 23:06Speaker 4: one of my children dressed in a costume that was,
- 23:11Speaker 4: we worked as a complimentary team and I dressed as
- 23:14Speaker 4: a Jedi and she.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Dressed as Ahsoka.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 23:19Speaker 2: That's awesome, bro.
- 23:20Speaker 4: And this was recent and that was, That was like
- 23:23Speaker 4: the watershed moment. It took me forever to get to
- 23:25Speaker 4: that point. And I was like, yay.
- 23:28Speaker 2: All right. Achievement unlocked, finally.
- 23:31Speaker 4: So for me, seeing my own child dressed as Ahsoka,
- 23:35Speaker 4: that's got to be the winner. And that's not taking
- 23:39Speaker 4: anything away from anybody else's kid or any other kid.
- 23:41Speaker 4: But obviously, that's what I'm going to respond to. I
- 23:45Speaker 4: remember as a kid, I think I dressed... And you
- 23:49Speaker 4: got to keep in mind, with how old I am,
- 23:52Speaker 4: the costumes, the only ones that were available were like
- 23:56Speaker 4: the half mask thing.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah. And then the vinyl thing that had like
- 23:59Speaker 2: the name of what you were on it.
- 24:00Speaker 3: It's like, it says, it's like you're wearing a name tag,
- 24:03Speaker 3: you know, that like you work at Best Buy, Boba Fett.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Yes. I think I was like an Ewok two years
- 24:12Speaker 2: in the row. We made a lot.
- 24:14Speaker 4: We made, we did a lot with a very little
- 24:17Speaker 4: coming up. I was, I was Dracula several years in
- 24:20Speaker 4: a row. Because all that required was a liberal application
- 24:26Speaker 4: of hair gel and some baby magic and talcum powder
- 24:32Speaker 4: to make me pale. And I can't stand the touch
- 24:35Speaker 4: of either one of them anymore.
- 24:36Speaker 2: A pox upon them.
- 24:37Speaker 4: And if I have a time machine, I'm going to
- 24:39Speaker 4: murder the people that invented them.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I've got to brag. We had some of our really
- 24:46Speaker 3: good family friends and– their first son that they had,
- 24:53Speaker 3: they dressed him up as an Ewok and watching him
- 24:56Speaker 3: walk around the church looking like a baby Ewok was
- 25:01Speaker 3: like the most adorable thing you've ever seen. It was awesome, man.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Just awesome.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Yes.
- 25:09Speaker 4: You know, and those are the moments. And that's why
- 25:11Speaker 4: when people Were complaining where they were, oh, the Ewoks
- 25:16Speaker 4: or this and that. It's like, yeah, it's friendly to kids.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Okay.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:21Speaker 2: When you see that kid dresses the Ewok, you're like, oh,
- 25:23Speaker 2: I get it.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:24Speaker 2: I get why George Lucas fought for that.
- 25:26Speaker 4: 100%. Because he wants the kids to have a good time. Like,
- 25:29Speaker 4: what a big heart that guy had from the beginning
- 25:32Speaker 4: to make sure that the kids felt like they belonged
- 25:36Speaker 4: in this game.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Like, I just, it's so wonderful. I love Halloween.
- 25:41Speaker 4: I love kids. I love everything about Star Wars. But Matt,
- 25:45Speaker 4: I also love staying in contact with you online. I'm
- 25:48Speaker 4: not going to give everybody your number because.
- 25:50Speaker 2: I do text you.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Oh, thank you.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Thank you. I appreciate that. I feel like that would
- 25:52Speaker 2: be cheating if I gave your number out. But where
- 25:55Speaker 2: can people reach you online?
- 25:56Speaker 3: Well, you know, it makes me really appreciate you that
- 25:58Speaker 3: you're not going to dox me. So that's great. But
- 26:01Speaker 3: you can find me all over social media.
- 26:03Speaker 2: We need to phrase that as not yet. Not yet. Okay.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Okay.
- 26:06Speaker 2: It's always an option.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Wow.
- 26:08Speaker 3: This is– anyway. You can find me all over social
- 26:10Speaker 3: media under the name MattRushingCereal2. Of course, I'm also here
- 26:14Speaker 3: on the network with a great show called Owl Post
- 26:15Speaker 3: talking about every single chapter of the Harry Potter series.
- 26:18Speaker 3: And then you can find me over on the TFM
- 26:21Speaker 3: Network with a bunch of shows. My good friend Chris
- 26:23Speaker 3: Jones and I are talking a lot of Star Wars,
- 26:26Speaker 3: a lot of Star Trek over there. Plus the 602
- 26:29Speaker 3: Club where you can find us talking about all of
- 26:32Speaker 3: the franchises we love. John's a frequent guest over there.
- 26:35Speaker 3: My friend Rye and I are loving all the movies
- 26:38Speaker 3: that we're talking about these days. So hope you'll check
- 26:41Speaker 3: all of those out. But John, you know, if people
- 26:44Speaker 3: want to see what you're dressing up as this Halloween season,
- 26:46Speaker 3: Where can people find you?
- 26:48Speaker 4: Well, gosh, you can find me as Kessel Junkie out
- 26:50Speaker 4: there on the wilds of the internet. You can find
- 26:51Speaker 4: me on KesselJunkie.com. I feel a writing urge coming on
- 26:55Speaker 4: again soon. It goes in spurts, you know, comes and goes,
- 26:59Speaker 4: the urge to write. Anyway, you can also find me
- 27:01Speaker 4: on Goodreads and Letterboxd under those names. And the social
- 27:07Speaker 4: networks I'm on, ex-Twitter. I never post on Instagram, but
- 27:12Speaker 4: I pay attention to stuff.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Whatever. It's the same thing.
- 27:15Speaker 4: But anyway, I got to go finish the stitching on
- 27:17Speaker 4: my costume, Matt. So I think it's time to close
- 27:20Speaker 4: these negotiations.
- 27:21Speaker 3: John, negotiations are closed. Join the revolution. Join the nerd party.
