- Adam Rutz: If you want to win your weeks, you've got to master your schedule. I tell this to anybody who's trying to improve their life. A lot of times it starts with two simple questions. Number one, what's on your calendar? And number two, how well are you using that time? Now look, I'm certainly not perfect at this myself, but I'm a lot better at this than I was a year, year and a half ago. I was working with a client recently who was making a really strong income. But just about every other area of their life felt like complete chaos. And they asked me, how do I improve my life without drastically lowering my income or my time spent at work? My response was pretty simple. Set boundaries with your calendar. You see, we all have 168 hours in a week. And how we choose to invest those hours has a tremendous impact on the quality of our lives. Let's say you decide that you're gonna invest 55 hours a week into your career. Great. That's 11 hours a day, Monday through Friday. That's a serious commitment to your professional life. But here's the biggest key. You've got to honor the time you've committed to everything else outside of work too. Because if you're sitting at home with your spouse or your kids, but you're constantly checking emails, responding to work messages, or worrying about your to-do list, are you really giving them your best? Your body might be there, but mentally you're still at work. Think about it like an athlete. When it's time to train, you train. When it's time to compete, you compete. And when it's time to recover, you've got to give that your attention as well. Now look, I understand that sometimes work demands more of us. There's gonna be weeks where you've got to put in additional hours. But those exceptions can't become your everyday standard. So here's my challenge for you today: open up your calendar and take ownership. Of your 168 hours. Block off the time you're gonna invest into your career. Then block off time for your health, for your family, your relationships, and your personal goals. And once you've established those boundaries, have the discipline to stick to them. Because mastering your time isn't about getting as much work done as humanly possible. It's about making sure the way you invest your time. Reflects what you say matters most in your life. Remember, winning your week isn't just about what you accomplish professionally. It's about how intentionally you invest your time in every area of your life that matters. Mindset, process, discipline, execution, that's mental performance daily.
