- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sorority Life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia Judice, Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome back to another episode of Dirty Rush. Sororities and
- 0:18Speaker 2: fraternities go hand in hand, the parties, the drama, the situationships.
- 0:26Speaker 2: But today we're flipping the script. We're putting fraternity boys
- 0:30Speaker 2: in the hot seat and having them answer the questions
- 0:33Speaker 2: sorority girls have always wanted to ask, maybe but maybe
- 0:39Speaker 2: never dared to. You guys are ruining my thing. Let's
- 0:45Speaker 2: get into it, all.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Right, girls, we're ready.
- 0:49Speaker 4: All I ask is that you call out the boys
- 0:51Speaker 4: that you want to answer the question. If it's for
- 0:53Speaker 4: the group, you can say that. I think individual questions
- 0:59Speaker 4: are better answered, though, especially in this group.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Take it away.
- 1:03Speaker 5: Okay, I'm a kappa Kapa gamma. You can name your storty.
- 1:05Speaker 5: But so here's the question. When we do this show,
- 1:08Speaker 5: the whole trick with this show is it's anonymous. So
- 1:11Speaker 5: this is a harder question for you guys, because you're
- 1:14Speaker 5: not anonymous. We know who you are. My question is
- 1:18Speaker 5: for the fraternity boys, how sacred or secretive do you
- 1:25Speaker 5: keep the things in the fraternity So, for example, we
- 1:29Speaker 5: on this podcast reveal things, but it's because we're anonymous.
- 1:33Speaker 5: So my question for the four of you that were
- 1:35Speaker 5: in fraternities, would you reveal details of initiation? Would you
- 1:39Speaker 5: tell me what phi alpha means?
- 1:41Speaker 3: Like?
- 1:41Speaker 5: All these secrets that you have, how secret are they?
- 1:45Speaker 5: Do you tell your whys? Do you give your wife
- 1:47Speaker 5: the handshake or tell her what happened? Was it a
- 1:49Speaker 5: banana in the toilet?
- 1:50Speaker 6: All that stuff?
- 1:52Speaker 5: How sacred is it?
- 1:55Speaker 3: There?
- 1:55Speaker 7: Loves a banana in the toilet?
- 1:58Speaker 6: The toilet trick.
- 2:01Speaker 8: I think that when you're in college and shortly after college,
- 2:06Speaker 8: things are very secretive, but once you start to grow
- 2:09Speaker 8: up and realize it's.
- 2:12Speaker 3: You start to divulge a little bit more. That would
- 2:15Speaker 3: be my guess.
- 2:15Speaker 7: I've got a feeling that we all have the same handshake,
- 2:19Speaker 7: and we all thought it was really cool, but it's
- 2:22Speaker 7: all the exact same one.
- 2:24Speaker 6: That's pretty true. I thought that's really true.
- 2:28Speaker 7: Proven you show me the GDI handshake.
- 2:33Speaker 4: So are you saying to answer that question? If somebody
- 2:38Speaker 4: in this room said, Hey, I really have always been
- 2:40Speaker 4: curious about this fraternities so and so, would you answer
- 2:44Speaker 4: it anonymously?
- 2:45Speaker 3: Yes?
- 2:47Speaker 5: If I asked you reveal something that happened during initiation,
- 2:51Speaker 5: would you reveal it?
- 2:52Speaker 6: Yes, reveal it anonymously.
- 3:00Speaker 7: It was Bred Adams, like, do.
- 3:04Speaker 5: You guys have a password? Like we have a password.
- 3:08Speaker 5: I wouldn't reveal it on the air. No, I would
- 3:13Speaker 5: not reveal it anonymously or not.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I had to.
- 3:17Speaker 8: All of us pledges had to walk around with p
- 3:21Speaker 8: qs and ms at all times.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I don't know what a p Q and MS.
- 3:25Speaker 8: Well, I'm going to tell you you.
- 3:27Speaker 3: You had to walk around with.
- 3:30Speaker 8: P I forgot what that was, but I'm going to
- 3:32Speaker 8: get back that qs are for quarters for the laundry machine,
- 3:36Speaker 8: so an actor could always find you on any part
- 3:39Speaker 8: of campus, fraternity whatever, ask you for quarters, immediately m
- 3:43Speaker 8: for matches back when people smoked peace are. Yeah, you had,
- 3:55Speaker 8: but you have to walk around and you had to
- 3:58Speaker 8: always carry p qs and m's, and no matter where
- 4:03Speaker 8: you were, no matter what time.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Of day, if an active asked you, you had to
- 4:07Speaker 3: show it.
- 4:09Speaker 7: We had to do a thing called a name list.
- 4:12Speaker 7: Do you guys know about name lists?
- 4:14Speaker 3: Really?
- 4:15Speaker 7: So it was every active on a list, and you
- 4:20Speaker 7: had to go to every active and talk to them,
- 4:23Speaker 7: meet them, converse with them, and they had to check
- 4:26Speaker 7: you off. You had to get everyone signed before you
- 4:30Speaker 7: could become an active good one.
- 4:32Speaker 6: Juicy Bob, I got nothing because you don't want to
- 4:36Speaker 6: reveal it.
- 4:37Speaker 9: No, we so my pledge class. We are pledge guy.
- 4:42Speaker 9: The pledge leader, trainer Trainer has passed away. Well, and
- 4:47Speaker 9: I and I loved him. His name was Jeff Slaboda.
- 4:50Speaker 9: All right, wonderful guy rests in peace. Crazy but he
- 4:54Speaker 9: he He nicknamed our pledge class the vegetables for no reason,
- 4:58Speaker 9: and he gave us all a vegetable nickname.
- 5:02Speaker 6: Mine was the green Pepper.
- 5:04Speaker 3: No.
- 5:04Speaker 7: I wanted to guess, not making it up.
- 5:08Speaker 6: I wish I were, and we would have to.
- 5:12Speaker 7: I will pay this though.
- 5:13Speaker 9: We had two guys in the pledge class who we
- 5:16Speaker 9: still only call.
- 5:17Speaker 6: Them by their vegetable name. Okay, what are their names?
- 5:21Speaker 3: Hold on, let me guess.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Okay, were you in the doorkey fraternity?
- 5:24Speaker 7: No?
- 5:24Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 5:26Speaker 6: I had to carry a vege.
- 5:27Speaker 7: I had to carry this vegetable with me at all times. Okay,
- 5:30Speaker 7: green pepper gets kind of I got to.
- 5:32Speaker 3: I got to.
- 5:32Speaker 7: All right, one you might be like, that's a fruit,
- 5:36Speaker 7: but whatever, tomato and the other one celery.
- 5:41Speaker 6: First of all, I love your guesses.
- 5:43Speaker 7: Okay, here's as well.
- 5:44Speaker 9: Uh the one guy is yam and is still yam.
- 5:52Speaker 6: The other the P the P do you sing? You
- 5:56Speaker 6: know what the pe single.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Yes actually was before I passed the mic onto the
- 6:03Speaker 5: other sorority girls. Is there any burning question you guys
- 6:07Speaker 5: want to know about sororities.
- 6:09Speaker 3: That you don't know because I might reveal it.
- 6:13Speaker 7: I got one ready.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Okay.
- 6:16Speaker 7: At my school, men were never allowed to come in
- 6:21Speaker 7: the sorority house. Was there ever an opportunity for you
- 6:27Speaker 7: to get guys into the sorority house?
- 6:30Speaker 5: So I can only speak for Kapa Kapagama, but we
- 6:32Speaker 5: were allowed to have boys on our floor, on the
- 6:35Speaker 5: bedroom floor, in the bedrooms until ten pm. But you
- 6:38Speaker 5: did have to say when you brought the boy down
- 6:42Speaker 5: the hallway man on, so that nobody would like come
- 6:45Speaker 5: out of the bathroom with like their towel on that.
- 6:48Speaker 6: So no one like a naked pillow fight. We never
- 6:51Speaker 6: had naked pillow fight. That's absolute bullshit.
- 6:55Speaker 3: It's just not true.
- 6:56Speaker 6: I think you all have no I am.
- 6:58Speaker 5: Going to tell you the truth. We didn't I have
- 7:00Speaker 5: naked pillow fights, but you could bring boys.
- 7:03Speaker 7: But I do hope that like when you climbaxed, you said, anyone.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Ever stayed the night in the sorority house?
- 7:14Speaker 8: No?
- 7:15Speaker 7: I never did I have what sorority? Bob over here?
- 7:21Speaker 6: Were more than one?
- 7:24Speaker 3: Can you name?
- 7:25Speaker 2: Was?
- 7:25Speaker 7: Can you name a couple of the one was?
- 7:27Speaker 6: While I was in college?
- 7:30Speaker 3: Was?
- 7:30Speaker 7: Perhaps it got weird.
- 7:33Speaker 5: It got weird that Bob went to a sorty house
- 7:35Speaker 5: when he was out of together.
- 7:41Speaker 7: Respected except burning question.
- 7:44Speaker 5: You've always want to know about a storty before we passed.
- 7:46Speaker 6: It on to that.
- 7:46Speaker 3: That was a good question. I like that.
- 7:48Speaker 5: That was Okay, I won't say your name, but what
- 7:50Speaker 5: is your sorority?
- 7:52Speaker 6: Wait a minute, if we have to be, shouldn't they? Okay?
- 7:58Speaker 10: I was in I was in theater Top Alpha Beta.
- 8:01Speaker 10: And my question to you guys, as fraternity boys, is
- 8:04Speaker 10: what in your eyes defines the top sorority houses? Like,
- 8:10Speaker 10: how would you classify the top sorority houses and vice versa?
- 8:15Speaker 10: How would you classify a top house as a fraternity?
- 8:17Speaker 9: Academics for the ladies, Yeah, clearly, totally kidding.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Yeah, what are we talking about? Aout?
- 8:28Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 8:31Speaker 3: I like that. That's like a joke.
- 8:32Speaker 4: And we're talking about college here, and you're like, that's
- 8:34Speaker 4: not even that was even considered. It was like a
- 8:39Speaker 4: how fun were they at parties when you invite? How
- 8:42Speaker 4: many showed up, how many like intermingled? And it wasn't
- 8:47Speaker 4: that they were just like the best looking, but they
- 8:49Speaker 4: would come and they would have a good time.
- 8:51Speaker 7: That was always did you guys do day parties?
- 8:54Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I feel like.
- 8:55Speaker 7: That's like a really good barometer. Yeah, right, like if
- 9:01Speaker 7: like the date because date parties, at least in my college,
- 9:05Speaker 7: it was just one fraternity.
- 9:07Speaker 3: One sorority exchange.
- 9:09Speaker 7: Okay, well at my school is called a date party.
- 9:12Speaker 7: I don't know to tell you, but like when I
- 9:14Speaker 7: when we did that, we'd be like this sorority sucks,
- 9:18Speaker 7: or like we be.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Like they're awesome.
- 9:20Speaker 7: It's just so much fun.
- 9:22Speaker 3: They had nothing to do with.
- 9:23Speaker 7: Like their academics. It was more to do with like
- 9:27Speaker 7: how fun they were, Like.
- 9:29Speaker 3: How yeah, that's it.
- 9:32Speaker 8: Let me ask you this, if you we had an
- 9:34Speaker 8: exchange or a date party and you had a lesser
- 9:40Speaker 8: hot sorority, what would the turnout be from your sorority fraternity?
- 9:47Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, that's a good question.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Not strong typically, I think now.
- 9:55Speaker 7: There's always one in there.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Really, I want to say something real quick as a GDI.
- 10:05Speaker 7: Okay, literally, which by the way, sounds like an STV.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Ever since I got my GDI cured.
- 10:12Speaker 11: Okay, and I hate to say this, especially on Dirty
- 10:17Speaker 11: Rush podcast, but literally everything you guys are all saying,
- 10:22Speaker 11: I just roll my eyes so hard into the back
- 10:24Speaker 11: of my head.
- 10:25Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, get over yourselves, you people. Come on.
- 10:29Speaker 11: It's so frustrating from an independent perspective to be like,
- 10:33Speaker 11: you guys are walking around like freaking bat weevils, like
- 10:36Speaker 11: fucking elbows out, shoulders back, just being like.
- 10:40Speaker 6: We're so much, we we're so much, We're so much.
- 10:43Speaker 11: Better than all you guys that aren't in the fraternities
- 10:45Speaker 11: and the superberties and sitting back here having just like
- 10:48Speaker 11: laugh along. It just makes me feel sick. Okay, and
- 10:54Speaker 11: I I can't do it anymore.
- 10:57Speaker 3: And I'm out here. Yeah, next question, no one else?
- 11:09Speaker 10: Okay, I was in say to tell Alpha and I
- 11:12Speaker 10: want to know Osquells and Ben who in this room
- 11:16Speaker 10: you guys think had the best RIZ in college?
- 11:21Speaker 3: A good question.
- 11:25Speaker 6: What's what's the best?
- 11:30Speaker 5: Uh?
- 11:30Speaker 7: Do you know?
- 11:36Speaker 6: I think I'm drinking a I don't know.
- 11:40Speaker 7: Riz is short for charsma. Well that's awfully zero, there's zero.
- 11:47Speaker 7: I am an answer for this, not to I don't
- 11:52Speaker 7: want you to jump on me. I don't want you
- 11:59Speaker 7: to jump like my answer.
- 12:02Speaker 8: Yeah no, I just didn't want you to do it
- 12:04Speaker 8: because then I feel bad about it.
- 12:06Speaker 7: My brother did some good work back in the day.
- 12:13Speaker 7: He had a lot of res.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Is it true.
- 12:19Speaker 8: I have no idea where the story's going. There is
- 12:22Speaker 8: no story. I'm just saying that he was his magic.
- 12:25Speaker 8: He was a cocksman. If you will, he was, wasn't he?
- 12:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I can see it.
- 12:35Speaker 6: I can see it.
- 12:36Speaker 3: I can see it.
- 12:37Speaker 8: When you show up for your first day at the
- 12:40Speaker 8: fraternity and your dad, being an obg y n, sends
- 12:44Speaker 8: a box of one hundred condoms, you become pretty popular,
- 12:50Speaker 8: you know.
- 12:52Speaker 4: You know, we all obviously are connected through a show
- 12:55Speaker 4: that was on television. And before I ever met this person,
- 13:00Speaker 4: there was this like rumor that would go around about
- 13:06Speaker 4: how successful they were in and uh I know.
- 13:17Speaker 3: And.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Successful they were, and how charismatic they were, and how
- 13:23Speaker 4: they were known to have laid beside the most people
- 13:29Speaker 4: during their time on the show, and.
- 13:31Speaker 3: That's Bob Guiney, and Bob Guiney is on.
- 13:37Speaker 4: Has has been the same guy in college, and we
- 13:43Speaker 4: talked about it last episode, and it should be noted
- 13:47Speaker 4: not only was Bob Guinea who he is today, who's
- 13:50Speaker 4: lovable and kind and funny, he was also a quarterback
- 13:54Speaker 4: at Michigan State.
- 13:55Speaker 3: He did not struggle.
- 13:57Speaker 7: Yeah, it's also because Andrew Firestone isn't here.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 6: I was gonna say my answer to the Andrew fire star.
- 14:05Speaker 7: You are the best of all of us. You are
- 14:09Speaker 7: so good to be around.
- 14:10Speaker 6: Thank you, pal, thank you.
- 14:12Speaker 7: Hold on, hold on, holda. I have a follow up
- 14:14Speaker 7: question of that. You asked that it was a great question,
- 14:17Speaker 7: was it you?
- 14:21Speaker 3: Oh?
- 14:21Speaker 6: Yeah, it was the Zeta Tel Alpha.
- 14:23Speaker 7: Who do you think has the most riz?
- 14:27Speaker 10: I kind of feel like from the stories tonight, either
- 14:31Speaker 10: Wells or Dean.
- 14:40Speaker 6: The two dumbest guys here.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Okay, so our question is on behalf of the sorority
- 15:02Speaker 1: girls is does it make a difference if a girl
- 15:06Speaker 1: does the whole song and dance of waiting for three
- 15:09Speaker 1: dates to finally sleep with a fraternity guy or if
- 15:13Speaker 1: she doesn't on the first night. Do you like a
- 15:16Speaker 1: girl more or less if she waits?
- 15:20Speaker 6: This is for Wells.
- 15:23Speaker 8: They got everyone quiet.
- 15:34Speaker 3: It's a good question.
- 15:36Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 15:37Speaker 3: I think that it.
- 15:38Speaker 7: Really just depends on like the relationship that you have
- 15:42Speaker 7: with that person, because I've had like, I've had both,
- 15:47Speaker 7: and they've both been like meaningful and like good where
- 15:51Speaker 7: it's like I had to wait a long time and
- 15:53Speaker 7: I love that and then it was like hot and
- 15:56Speaker 7: fast and it lasted for a long time. So I
- 16:01Speaker 7: don't know, I.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Don't know what.
- 16:05Speaker 7: I don't know what the right answer is. I think
- 16:07Speaker 7: you just have to like be honest with yourself, but
- 16:09Speaker 7: like what's happening.
- 16:10Speaker 8: So remember when you're eighteen or nineteen and answer the
- 16:14Speaker 8: question properly. Who When I was eighteen or nineteen, that
- 16:19Speaker 8: was what would you prefer the first night or waiting
- 16:23Speaker 8: three days? Three dates?
- 16:30Speaker 7: Honestly, I think, like what are we looking for here?
- 16:33Speaker 7: Are we're looking for like a long term relationship?
- 16:36Speaker 6: Yeah? Are we looking for a Okay?
- 16:38Speaker 1: But no, if a girl wants something more serious, should
- 16:41Speaker 1: she make and I would like.
- 16:42Speaker 7: To wait a little bit?
- 16:43Speaker 3: Okay, I think that would be more.
- 16:49Speaker 7: Hello, I was in Alpha FI and this is for
- 16:52Speaker 7: all of you as a guy.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Would you rather sleep at your house or would you
- 16:59Speaker 4: rather sleep at the girls house?
- 17:00Speaker 6: My house?
- 17:01Speaker 3: My house, my house, my house? Girls house, and you.
- 17:10Speaker 7: Know why he hasn't changed his sheets in three months? Sorry?
- 17:19Speaker 3: Still you why it's the girl's house.
- 17:21Speaker 11: The sheets are always cleaner, obviously, the mattress is nine
- 17:25Speaker 11: out of ten times more comfort.
- 17:26Speaker 7: There's no bedbugs, but they got way more pillows than
- 17:29Speaker 7: I do.
- 17:30Speaker 6: The real answer is because you can leave.
- 17:35Speaker 3: I was gonna get there.
- 17:40Speaker 11: I do have a question, yes, as a as a
- 17:42Speaker 11: non fraternity brother, and I'm so sorry not to be
- 17:44Speaker 11: in the brotherhood with you guys, biggest regret in my life.
- 17:50Speaker 7: I think, actually you do hate it that you were
- 17:53Speaker 7: in a fraternity.
- 17:54Speaker 11: No, you know, I'd like to be against the crane. Yeah,
- 17:56Speaker 11: of course, I've got a quo. No, I actually I
- 18:00Speaker 11: have a question. Some of my best friends were in
- 18:02Speaker 11: fraternities in college that I met later after and all
- 18:05Speaker 11: that stuff, and I love them all to death. You
- 18:08Speaker 11: guys are all very much included in that sentiment as well.
- 18:11Speaker 11: Is there anything when I look back to those college days,
- 18:15Speaker 11: at least in two thousand and nine to twenty thirteen,
- 18:18Speaker 11: when I was in college fourteen because I was a
- 18:20Speaker 11: five year program as well wells, I feel like there
- 18:24Speaker 11: was always that Maybe stigma is not the right word,
- 18:27Speaker 11: but it seemed like fraternity brothers in my interpretation of
- 18:31Speaker 11: that word, meant just getting as many notches in your
- 18:35Speaker 11: belt as possible. And my question for you guys, and
- 18:38Speaker 11: I know it's a broad spectrum, right like Ben to
- 18:41Speaker 11: Brett to Wells to Bob to Zach whatever. I know
- 18:47Speaker 11: it's a very broad spectrum. But is there anything that
- 18:49Speaker 11: you guys can do to answer or fulfill my curiosity
- 18:52Speaker 11: of being able to dispel the rumor of just trying
- 18:57Speaker 11: to get a notch in your belt?
- 18:58Speaker 3: Because that's what I always saw fraternity brothers. Ass No to.
- 19:07Speaker 8: What I said earlier, I mean I went to college
- 19:12Speaker 8: way earlier than two thousand and nine. Well, I still
- 19:15Speaker 8: have I Like I said, I still have these guys
- 19:21Speaker 8: that are some of my best friends that I see
- 19:23Speaker 8: every single year, And there's some weight to that. I
- 19:27Speaker 8: understand that there is a stigma to fraternities and the
- 19:33Speaker 8: stuffiness or the brownness or whatever you want.
- 19:36Speaker 3: To call it.
- 19:37Speaker 8: But at the end of the day, I have ten
- 19:42Speaker 8: of my best friends that we went through all this
- 19:45Speaker 8: together and we formed a bond, and so I think
- 19:49Speaker 8: that that is pretty special.
- 19:52Speaker 3: And so I don't think it's about just notches in
- 19:57Speaker 3: your belt or the part use or whatever. As you
- 20:03Speaker 3: go through life, you will realize it was. It's much
- 20:05Speaker 3: more than that.
- 20:07Speaker 4: I had a girlfriend for my freshman year the my
- 20:10Speaker 4: senior year too, So like there was like there was
- 20:15Speaker 4: never this idea of like I think like this the
- 20:18Speaker 4: movies would be like the High five, like, oh you're
- 20:21Speaker 4: what at fifty now?
- 20:22Speaker 3: Cool for you? That was not a thing.
- 20:24Speaker 4: And I think go back to what we were talking
- 20:26Speaker 4: about before we can sit here and laugh and joke.
- 20:30Speaker 4: None of us were as cool as well, like in
- 20:32Speaker 4: our minds we are talking about now. It was like
- 20:36Speaker 4: a It wasn't like coming easy made for Bob Guinea.
- 20:39Speaker 4: He was a quarterback, handsome and funny and charismatic. For
- 20:43Speaker 4: all of us, we're working like really hard just to
- 20:45Speaker 4: make friends.
- 20:47Speaker 3: I think I.
- 20:48Speaker 11: Will say too, to add to to kind of piggyback
- 20:51Speaker 11: off my own question. Your guys' answers is I've got
- 20:54Speaker 11: a lot of friends that I met post college, right
- 20:57Speaker 11: that I know we get along so well, so much
- 21:00Speaker 11: in common, and we want to spend as much time
- 21:03Speaker 11: as we possibly can together. But even going even though
- 21:07Speaker 11: that all is true, I won't be as close to
- 21:10Speaker 11: that person as he is to his fraternity brother, only
- 21:12Speaker 11: because they went through like what you guys are saying,
- 21:16Speaker 11: you know what I mean, Like there is an unspoken bond.
- 21:18Speaker 11: I think that maybe forms a friendship that can't be
- 21:21Speaker 11: overpassed by any other experience that you might get later
- 21:25Speaker 11: in life, whatever it might be.
- 21:27Speaker 3: I don't think that's true. I don't think that's true,
- 21:29Speaker 3: but I think Okay.
- 21:30Speaker 11: Okay, okay, then let me let me restate that. I
- 21:33Speaker 11: guess what I'm trying to say, then, maybe is it
- 21:35Speaker 11: does give you a very good head start, right at least?
- 21:38Speaker 3: Sure? Okay, because I've seen that.
- 21:41Speaker 11: I've seen that with my friends, like one of my
- 21:42Speaker 11: best friends who I love and adore, and I know
- 21:46Speaker 11: it's mutual.
- 21:47Speaker 3: At least I hope it is.
- 21:49Speaker 11: I love you too, I know that like this guy
- 21:53Speaker 11: that he complains about or or whatever, it will always
- 21:57Speaker 11: be his best best friend, right, And I think that
- 22:01Speaker 11: there's something inherently special about forming those friendships at that
- 22:06Speaker 11: especially at that stage of your life too, when you're
- 22:08Speaker 11: that young and trying to branch out and meet new
- 22:12Speaker 11: people that will last for a lot longer than any
- 22:15Speaker 11: other friendship.
- 22:16Speaker 10: Might you know, how does the Bachelor Nation brotherhood compare
- 22:35Speaker 10: to fraternity some parallels.
- 22:38Speaker 9: I was actually, I'm glad you have six I was
- 22:40Speaker 9: gonna say, you know, I think, yeah, you you do
- 22:42Speaker 9: have some people that you meet at different stages of
- 22:44Speaker 9: your life that you remain super close with because of
- 22:46Speaker 9: experiences that you shared. That could be a fraternity, That
- 22:49Speaker 9: could be sports, that could be you know, a billion
- 22:52Speaker 9: different work, It could be a bunch of different things.
- 22:54Speaker 9: But you know, to that point, I think, yeah, like,
- 22:58Speaker 9: you go through something weird, like a dating game show
- 23:01Speaker 9: where you're handing out flowers or receiving flowers and it's
- 23:04Speaker 9: kind of a fed up situation too, and your friends
- 23:07Speaker 9: around that, like peripherally around that become part of it too,
- 23:11Speaker 9: just like Brett's part of that, even though Brett wasn't
- 23:13Speaker 9: on the show because of Wells. I think you have
- 23:16Speaker 9: a different bond with different people at different stages in
- 23:19Speaker 9: the game. And it doesn't mean one stronger or less
- 23:24Speaker 9: stronger than another. It just means it's at a different
- 23:26Speaker 9: stage in the game. And I think as you're older,
- 23:28Speaker 9: you have more of a choice as to whether you
- 23:31Speaker 9: want to be a part of it or not. So
- 23:33Speaker 9: sometimes I would think the friendships you make later in
- 23:35Speaker 9: life are probably more valuable than the ones you hang
- 23:37Speaker 9: on to from high school or college, because.
- 23:40Speaker 6: They're the ones you're really choosing.
- 23:41Speaker 9: When you have kind of you give yourself the ability
- 23:44Speaker 9: to make a choice.
- 23:46Speaker 4: That's be on a soapbox, But anytime you enter into
- 23:49Speaker 4: something that's uncomfortable or unfamiliar, typically the best stories come
- 23:53Speaker 4: from that, and when you can share that with others
- 23:56Speaker 4: who are also uncomfortable and unfamiliar with the situation, when
- 23:59Speaker 4: you get to the other side, no matter what the
- 24:01Speaker 4: other side looks like, you can look back and say,
- 24:03Speaker 4: we bonded through that same thing with the bachelor, right,
- 24:07Speaker 4: I mean there I don't know or I don't hang
- 24:10Speaker 4: out with every bachelor that's existed for many reasons, but
- 24:15Speaker 4: there's some that like I really love, who are friends
- 24:18Speaker 4: of mine who maybe once in every ten meetings that
- 24:22Speaker 4: we have, the bachelor will get brought up and we'll
- 24:24Speaker 4: talk about, oh, yeah, you did that, I did that.
- 24:26Speaker 4: That's we can relate. I think it's the same thing
- 24:29Speaker 4: with like college and fraternity life is. As Brett was saying,
- 24:32Speaker 4: you went to Kansas not knowing anybody and it was uncomfortable.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Was unfamiliar, but through that you have buddies that walked
- 24:39Speaker 4: alongside you and now like you're close to them.
- 24:42Speaker 3: It's the same thing with the show. Yeah, but it's different.
- 24:45Speaker 7: Though thousands of people have been Fiji's thousands of people
- 24:51Speaker 7: have been symbolicized.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Thousands of people have been on the show.
- 24:53Speaker 7: Now we're maybe maybe fifteen hundred people have been on
- 24:58Speaker 7: The Bachelor.
- 25:01Speaker 3: I mean, I mean it's.
- 25:02Speaker 7: A very small well let's say a thousand.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:06Speaker 7: I remember Alon saying he was like, you're in a
- 25:08Speaker 7: weird thing of like only a few people have ever
- 25:11Speaker 7: experienced this thing, and I think we're all like, we
- 25:17Speaker 7: have this weird trauma bond all.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Of us.
- 25:22Speaker 7: From this thing in a good way, in a bad way.
- 25:25Speaker 11: Whatever I got, Okay, So here's my interpretation of that.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Because I know you guys have been dying the year.
- 25:34Speaker 11: I obviously don't have the fraternity experience, but I will
- 25:37Speaker 11: say from from my bat from thank you Bob, from
- 25:40Speaker 11: my Bachelor experience explicitly, I was on a season with
- 25:45Speaker 11: thirty men, right, and I think all of us were
- 25:47Speaker 11: whenever we were on the.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Bachelor, as Brad excluded.
- 25:49Speaker 11: Of course, I talked to one of those people, not
- 25:55Speaker 11: even regularly, but like semi often. Right, And I don't
- 25:58Speaker 11: know how you guys function with your fraternity brothers, but
- 26:02Speaker 11: I imagine that the odds of you staying in contact with
- 26:05Speaker 11: your fraternity brothers is higher than a regular bachelorette contestant
- 26:10Speaker 11: to stay in contact with the rest.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Like the only I have two really good.
- 26:14Speaker 11: Friends from the bachelorette, right, it's Ben and Wells and Alex.
- 26:21Speaker 11: Yes he's he's a buddy, but like, I don't talk
- 26:23Speaker 11: to him nearly as much as I talk to you guys.
- 26:24Speaker 11: And I don't even talk to you guys that much. Yeah,
- 26:27Speaker 11: I guess my point is, I mean, I mean meaning
- 26:29Speaker 11: to talk to you about that. I guess my point
- 26:32Speaker 11: is maybe I'm just a bad brother at the end
- 26:35Speaker 11: of the day. No, my point is, it almost seems
- 26:39Speaker 11: like there is less of a brotherhood when it comes
- 26:42Speaker 11: to the bachelorette than there is a fraternity, at least
- 26:45Speaker 11: in my experience.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Right, Like I've got I've.
- 26:48Speaker 11: Got three, three, maybe four people that I would consider
- 26:52Speaker 11: really close friends that were from the bachelorette. And I
- 26:57Speaker 11: bet you you would say you have more close friends
- 26:59Speaker 11: from your fraternity in college. And again I'm not gonna
- 27:02Speaker 11: know for sure, but like I would assume that all
- 27:04Speaker 11: of you have higher numbers than that when it comes
- 27:06Speaker 11: to your fraternity life in college. And to answer your question,
- 27:10Speaker 11: it just seems like in my experience, at least, you're
- 27:14Speaker 11: allowed to be maybe a bit more selective as you
- 27:16Speaker 11: get older. Maybe that's what it is, but I don't know. Yeah,
- 27:22Speaker 11: I mean, I think there's a thousand theories. It's formative years.
- 27:27Speaker 4: You can still I mean, you have shared things in common,
- 27:29Speaker 4: Like you can go back to basketball games, you go
- 27:32Speaker 4: back to football games, you go back to tailgates, Like
- 27:34Speaker 4: there's reasons to get together. And I think that's a
- 27:36Speaker 4: big thing in friendships as adults is sometimes you love
- 27:40Speaker 4: somebody else, but there's not like distinct reasons to get
- 27:44Speaker 4: back together. But with college there always is, like there's
- 27:48Speaker 4: always that game, there's always the homecoming, there's always the
- 27:51Speaker 4: tailgate that you can come back and gather again, and
- 27:54Speaker 4: it just keeps you in contact. Where with the Bachelor,
- 27:59Speaker 4: if we didn't have have iHeart right, it would be
- 28:04Speaker 4: less and less that we'd be able to get together
- 28:05Speaker 4: because all of us have our own separate lives. But
- 28:07Speaker 4: this brings us back together, and so it keeps us connected,
- 28:09Speaker 4: it keeps us sharing moments and stories and memories. So
- 28:13Speaker 4: I think this has done what a fraternity would do
- 28:18Speaker 4: twenty thirty years out. It brings you back together again.
- 28:22Speaker 4: It's a reason to gather and.
- 28:24Speaker 7: Thanks everyone for listening to Dirty Rush the Truth about
- 28:28Speaker 7: sorority life. Hey fraternity boys answering questions about sorority questions.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Trusting is see you later.
- 28:41Speaker 7: We got to stop doing this show right now. Yeah,
