- 0:22SPEAKER_00: And today's episode is SOS.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: What are you drinking today?
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, this is so good.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: So I have a theory.
- 0:33SPEAKER_03: Cranberry juice goes with all alcohol.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: Pretty much.
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: So I had cranberry juice and pineapple margarita.
- 0:43SPEAKER_03: This is fucking Yeah, kind of took my first sip just as you were talking.
- 0:46SPEAKER_03: I was like, oh, this is good.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: I'm going.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: I got my beer.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: I have my Stella.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Cheers.
- 0:56SPEAKER_03: Keep it, keeping it straight.
- 0:57SPEAKER_03: Keep it old school with the Stella.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Keeping it simple.
- 1:03SPEAKER_03: What's that?
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: Um I used to say when I was at work.
- 1:05SPEAKER_03: Because simple, stupid.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: But I have to say silly because you know the whole HR thing.
- 1:09SPEAKER_03: So my kiss.
- 1:11SPEAKER_03: They're like, they're like, all right, act as I miss my employees.
- 1:18SPEAKER_03: I really miss.
- 1:19SPEAKER_03: I miss them.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: I was walking and then one employee was all of a sudden she saw us doing cuckoo, cuckoo.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: I'm like, what the hell's wrong with you?
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: She goes, I was trying to warn them because we're in your talking that you were coming.
- 1:31SPEAKER_03: I was like, the cuckooing kind of warned me that you would do without the number.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: I even miss my employees that are strange.
- 1:41SPEAKER_03: I do too.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: No more stories for you.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: I girl.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: This is a Rose and Bernard episode.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Any thoughts before we jump in?
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: They're cute.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: They're cute.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: They're really adorable.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: They're adorable.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: Got it.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: I'm so silly.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: In flashback, on a cold winter night, Rose revs up her car to try to drive it out of the snow.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Knocking on her window, a man named Bernard offers her some advice.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Rose disregards his tips, telling him that she has driven in the snow her whole life.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: That would be me.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: I'd be like, I don't need you.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: After a few failed attempts, however, she reluctantly lets Bernard help her.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: As the car manages to pull out, Bernard falls flat on his face in the snow.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: As the two joke, they introduce themselves to one another before beginning to go their separate ways.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Both seem interested in getting to know one another further.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: However, Rose decides to live in the moment, plucking up the courage to shout, Can I buy you a cup of coffee?
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Five months later, the couple sits in a posh restaurant nestled over the picturesque views of Niagara Falls.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: As Rose stares out in awe, Bernard seems on edge and she questions what he's doing.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Bernard asks Rose to marry him.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: After a pause, Rose replies, Bernard, I'm dying.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: A shaken Bernard excuses the duo as Rose begins to explain that she is terminally ill with cancer.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Having about a year left to live, Bernard's response, however, is that Rose hasn't even answered his question.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Asking if he's sure and fully aware of what will happen, Rose agrees to the proposal.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: In another flashback, Rose thinks they're lost as she and Bernard drive across the outback of Australia.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: The two are now on their honeymoon, and Rose comments that she would have preferred a beach to driving in the middle of nowhere.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Well she got her beach.
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: That's fucked up.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Boy did she ever.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: However, they soon find civilization.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: But Bernard surprises Rose in telling her that this is where he had been heading all along.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: He brought her here to see Isaac, a faith healer who is said to have helped hundreds of ill people.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: In disgust at the idea, Rose gets out of the car, as Bernard chases after her, telling her how he heard that Isaac could deal with Rose's situation.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: As Bernard continues to mumble about the lengths he has gone in order to secure an appointment, Rose abruptly shouts that she didn't ask for this, leading to an awkward silence.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Composing herself, Rose explains that she has made her peace with what is fated for her.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: But Bernard retorts that he has not and asks that she will try to be healed for his sake.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: While waiting in Isaac's clinic, Rose wanders his office looking at the hundreds of thank you cards he has received from healed individuals.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Isaac soon enters and the two sit as Rose jokes about the procedures, highlighting her skepticism.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Isaac, however, seems unabashed and proceeds to detail about certain areas in the world that have different energies.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: It is through channeling this energy, he believes, that he can help people with their sicknesses.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: He begins to read Rose's aura or essence, but suddenly stops, admitting that he cannot help her.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Rose replies that she never expected him to, but Isaac says that it isn't that she cannot be healed.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: It is that this place is not the right one for her.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: He apologiz he apologizes by offering to return the donation Bernard gave to his group, but Rose tells him to keep it.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: She is gonna tell Bernard that the healing worked and that she is fully cured.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna do the on island now.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna save the last one.
- 6:07SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 6:09SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: So but what we learned from this you okay?
- 6:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I just had a cramp, but it's fine, it's good.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: You know randomness, I don't think we drink enough because they're this assassin's sips.
- 6:30SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Um what we learned from the flashbacks though is that Rose and Bernard have been together for a very short time.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: The crash directly followed their honeymoon, so they've barely been married.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: And the same thing.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: But it's not that long.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Because they only got together later in life anyway.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: So and we know that Bernard says like he's been a bachelor for like 50 years or something like that.
- 7:04SPEAKER_03: So, and then like between their first meeting and him proposing, it's five months, and I since she already told him that she's dying, I don't foresee a long engagement, you know what I mean?
- 7:13SPEAKER_03: But and it's kind and I love the fact that they still like that that old married couple, quote unquote, and they just like this example how some people just really met for each other, yeah.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it makes it so beautiful, they are they're just so comfortable with each other and just so in it, you know, and it it it is it's good.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: All right, let's let's pretend like we have our shit together.
- 7:43SPEAKER_03: People don't listen to us because we have our shit together.
- 7:45SPEAKER_03: I'm just throwing it out there through our two listeners will stop listening on the island at the beach.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Rose and Bernard place food on the shelves of the makeshift kitchen.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Bernard asks Rose if food with strange labels falling from the sky bothers her.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: And Rose tells him to count his blessings.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: She is like, he's like, Does this bother you?
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: And she's like, What?
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Potato chips?
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Why would potato chips bother me?
- 8:13SPEAKER_03: And she knew exactly what he was talking about, and I love.
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: I can actually see it, that's why I'm laughing so hard.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Rose tells him to count his blessings, but Bernard can't accept that the group is sitting idly when people should be questioning things.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: He says that everyone has given up on being rescued, and his long-lasting defiance and non-acceptance of things seems to anger Rose.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Down the hatch, Locke sits at the counter.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: No.
- 9:21SPEAKER_03: Isn't that a bar somewhere?
- 9:23SPEAKER_03: I don't know if it's a real bar or a TV bar down the hatch.
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: In the in the village.
- 9:28SPEAKER_03: It is a real bar, okay.
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: I think I think we have have I been there too, probably.
- 9:33SPEAKER_03: Probably.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: It's just it just seems like home.
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: I'm like, that sounds so good.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Because I used to work over there, so I know I've been there.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: Can't remember really with who, but or as one of the things that yeah, I think I have two.
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm 99.9% sure.
- 9:48SPEAKER_03: Been to every bar in Manhattan.
- 9:52SPEAKER_03: Well, that's near impossible.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: That's a good point.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: But but everyone gets an exaggeration.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Down in the hatch, Locke sits as the counter alarm beeps, trying to retrace the markings he saw on the blast door map.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Scribbling out his work, he is interrupted by Jack who reminds him that the button needs to be pushed.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: John enters the I'm sorry.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: John enters the numbers, but rather unenthusiastically.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Jack goes to the prisoner cell to change Henry's bandages with Anna Lucia standing guard at the door.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Jack reveals to this quiet prisoner that he plans on crossing the line that the bearded man told him not to cross, and demanding a trade, swapping Henry for Walt.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: Henry ominously states that they will never return Walt to them.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: So they're not even gonna try to look for Michael, but at least Jack kept his promise that he said he didn't forget about Walt.
- 10:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I forgot.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: I I forgot about Walt.
- 10:57SPEAKER_03: I did.
- 10:58SPEAKER_03: I I kind of forgot about Michael in the past couple of weeks of Mikey who oh yeah, I forgot about that dude.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: As Hurley talks to Rose about his new diet, Bernard interrupts their conversation, asking Hurley to round up some of the survivors.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Rose asks him what he's doing, but he remains secretive.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Jack prepares to leave the hatch and find the others, despite Anna Lucia's warnings.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: She gives Jack her gun, telling him that he needs it more than she, and advises him to take someone with him.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Jack decides to approach Kate as she and Sawyer sit on the beach picking sea urchin.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Big ass truck.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: Much to Sawyer's annoyance, Kate agrees, leaving him alone at the shore.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Meanwhile, Bernard is busy rallying troops for his cause.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: He intends to build a huge SOS sign along the beach so that passing planes or monitoring satellites will see that they are there.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Rose comments that they should perhaps tell Jack about this idea, and when Bernard says that he is merely the doctor, Rose retorts that you're a dentist.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: Immediately knocking her husband off his pedestal.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: Bernard takes her aside, and Rose argues that he's given the survivors false hope.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Angered by this, Bernard excuses himself.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: You think his idea was a bad idea?
- 12:19SPEAKER_03: I don't think it was a bad idea in theory.
- 12:23SPEAKER_03: I completely understand his need to like we have to do something.
- 12:29SPEAKER_03: I also get the other thing, like, listen, it's it is what it is.
- 12:33SPEAKER_03: Like if Gilligan's Island can be it was a three-hour tour, and next thing you know, no one problem for years.
- 12:40SPEAKER_03: I guess you know, and the only three hours from civilization.
- 12:44SPEAKER_03: I guess I guess you could be like, um, I get both sides.
- 12:49SPEAKER_03: So no, I don't think anyone's there's no asshole in this story.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: No, I I think that like it's not that his plan was like foolproof, but it also once you put it in place, it's in place.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: You don't really need to do anything, you just need to kind of set it up and walk away.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: And it's kind of like a Hail Mary, but what what do you have to lose?
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: To lose.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: Like, like don't get your hopes up, but there's very little risk involved with it.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: So I feel like like you already knew that something was kind of like going on with her because she was like not really on board, and it was the simple thing.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: It wasn't like, oh, you have to keep burning up wood to make a signal fire.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: No, like all you have to do is move rocks to the beach, you know.
- 13:38SPEAKER_03: I think even with the from the very not knowing Rose's story at all, from the very beginning, she seemed at peace with being the island.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: Her only angst was not even when they say angst at that because she had she knew that her husband was alive, it was just a matter of being with him, right?
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: Like she felt it, so she was always at peace at the situation, and yeah, and that's where I kind of I hit her and Locke.
- 14:08SPEAKER_03: Of course, at the time I didn't know, but I felt they paralleled a lot at being like meh.
- 14:15SPEAKER_03: I just it didn't click as to why.
- 14:18SPEAKER_03: I didn't know, I couldn't put my finger on it, but yeah, okay.
- 14:21SPEAKER_03: I think I just assumed that she was just one of those people that makes the best out of any situation she's at, which she does.
- 14:27SPEAKER_03: But I felt that was like the extent of it.
- 14:29SPEAKER_03: But now we get it.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: Like she was very, very much like Locke, like, fuck no, I'm not leaving.
- 14:36SPEAKER_03: Like, this is this is the shit, people.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: After more able bodies, Bernard moves on to Echo and Charlie.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Bernard can't believe that they are building things instead of trying to get rescued, but the two men refuse to stop building their church.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: I like in this scene, um, this was this was one of like my favorite scenes of the episode because Bernard is so frustrated, and he's like, You're building a church, and I'm trying to get people saved.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: And here we go with the echo wisdom, and he's like, People are saved in different ways.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: And I'm just like, man, it's like every line that this man speaks is like poetry, you know.
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: I think you gotta crash.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: No, I don't, I just I just really like the the way they've written his character.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, like he's just very he doesn't speak a lot, but when he does, it's it's usually profound.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, you know, it's when he does speak, you should listen, you know.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: And Bernard is like, I think I liked you better what you but you just hit people with your stick.
- 15:44SPEAKER_03: And you know what the funny thing is, I don't want to say funny, haha, but the irony that even when Echo was like the warlord, he was still the same person as far as he had this, he didn't say much, but people listen, like speak softly and carry a big stick, which he actually did like literally.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Literally, he doesn't really raise his voice either, he does speak softly.
- 16:09SPEAKER_03: People with power don't have to, but that's just you know, whatever power that is in your life, but yeah.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: Back in the hatch, John is becoming increasingly frustrated and tells Anna that he wants to speak to the prisoner.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: She says that while Jack has the gun, the door stays shut, but suggests he shout to him if he really needs to speak with the prisoner.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Though it would appear the frustration is due to remembering the map he saw, it becomes apparent that John's anger runs deeper as he shouts to Henry through the gun vault door, demanding to know whether he pushed the button or not when Locke was trapped the day before.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: The camera pans to Henry, and we just see him sitting there, and he can obviously hear Locke but he he doesn't respond, and then he just smiles.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: And you're like, Oh, this motherfucker, what is he up to?
- 17:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's not like this no matter what he says or does, you gotta like, yeah.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: Even like not escaping had ulterior motives.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: Bernard's authorit Authoritarian's authoritarian stance on leadership appears to be an inappropriate trait as he returns to the beach to find that the majority of his workforce have quit.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: Bernard seems to pay little notice to this, however, and continues to issue orders to the team, giving himself the easy roll of carving the letters while everyone else drags heavy rocks to the shore.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: Once again, Bernard tries to enlist more help for his operation, visiting Sawyer at his tent while Rose watches from afar.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: Like Echo and Charlie, Sawyer declines, and Bernard heads over to Rose by the water trout.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: Trout?
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Truff?
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Truff?
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: Trough?
- 17:59SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 18:03SPEAKER_03: I had a couple of sips on an empty stomach, so I'm like hee hee hee hee today.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: Bernard accuses her of attacking him, turning his worst workforce against him.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: But Rose says that perhaps it is more due to his management skills than a lack of support from herself.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: As the two bicker, Bernard argues that if he didn't always try to do something, Rose would not even be alive.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: The tactless remark causes Rose to this time abruptly end the conversation, and Bernard seems to realize that he was out of line.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Trekking through the jungle, Kate jokes about Jack asking her over Sawyer to accompany him.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: Jack, however, puts a downer on the mild flirting, stating that he chose Kate merely because the others do not want her, considering they previously had an opportunity to kidnap her, but didn't.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: But he also tells her.
- 19:01SPEAKER_03: No, go ahead.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, and but he also tells her that he asked first and he said no.
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: I feel like it's the like the first the half a second when he says that, like the others don't want you.
- 19:15SPEAKER_03: You're like, ew, and then you're like, oh, the others, not like the others, but the others.
- 19:19SPEAKER_03: Like it's funny the way it's I I think it was written that way for that purpose.
- 19:28SPEAKER_03: Does that make sense?
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: Did I get that out in English?
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: I don't feel like I got that out of English, but you know what I mean.
- 19:33SPEAKER_03: I hope you know what I mean.
- 19:35SPEAKER_03: I felt like part of it was like an unintentional or an intentional jab, like no one else wants you, like trying to be like petty.
- 19:42SPEAKER_03: But also literally the others.
- 19:45SPEAKER_03: So I was like, oh, ew.
- 19:47SPEAKER_03: But took me a half a second to realize he meant the others, not the others in Cal.
- 19:52SPEAKER_03: You know, okay.
- 19:53SPEAKER_03: I'm going back to sleep.
- 19:55SPEAKER_03: Wake me up when it's time for me to talk.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: Kate then sees the doll on the ground, and before Jack can stop her, she touches it, causing the release of a trap.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: Both are pulled from the ground in a net and struggle to move as they are positioned so close to one another.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Kate manages to retrieve Jack's gun.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: That was like he was loving that.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Shit, I would have copped a feel too, but I'm just saying.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: But you're full of a lot of things.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: And attempts to shoot the rope holding the net up.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: But they're all flirty flirty because she's like, Oh, but I'm a better shot.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: And he's like, Kate, come on, like, I'm a better shot.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, like when I make it, and she's like, Oh, when you like it, whatever.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: But they were like mouth to mouth and not even taking advantage of each other.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: Like, he's so stupid.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: Like, I think.
- 20:56SPEAKER_03: He doesn't deserve to kiss Kate.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: But like, come on a fucking island.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: What else do you have to do?
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: You're all body on body.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Your hands are practically around his waist because you have your hand down his pants looking for a gun.
- 21:12SPEAKER_03: Bitch, just like my first thought of like, hey, yeah, let's go have fun.
- 21:17SPEAKER_03: Like, what the hell is this to do?
- 21:18SPEAKER_03: But I'm thinking, how many of them are actually on birth control?
- 21:21SPEAKER_03: And like it's not like I really want to figure it out.
- 21:26SPEAKER_03: It's not like I want to be they have the chance of being pregnant on the island if I have a choice in the matter.
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: That's when my brain would be like, I'm like, mmm.
- 21:36SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: You can pull out.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: I see.
- 21:40SPEAKER_03: I don't have to worry about it.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: Don't look at me like that.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: It works.
- 21:45SPEAKER_03: I'm not saying anything.
- 21:47SPEAKER_02: I just I'm just trying to think of something witty, but I can't think.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: I can't think.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: Kate misses, and as Jack takes over, manages to free them both in one shot, despite Kate saying that she is by far the better shot.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: The two fall, landing right on top of each other.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: As Jin positions the rocks on the beach, Bernard once more slips into his rude leadership style, telling Jin that his method is all wrong.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: After being heavily patronized, Jin leaves Bernard, who realizes that his entire team has now Left him.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Meanwhile, Rose approaches John and the two discuss Bernard's effort.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: John comments about being done with the hatch, but Rose seems to restore his faith in the island, saying that they both know John's injury will heal faster than Jack predicts.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: The two share a brief moment and John remembers how the island has healed him in the past.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: As the rain pours down, Jack tell I'm sorry, Kate tells Jack what she found at the staff, including the fake beard.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: Then they start arguing a little bit because Jack is like, oh but why didn't you tell me sooner?
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: In Kate's like, when were you gonna let me back in?
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: So now they're both being like, You wanna be an asshole?
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: I could be an asshole too.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: I'm just saying, listen, to be fair, how does she know that one of other people didn't tell him already?
- 23:17SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 23:18SPEAKER_03: It's not like she wasn't like she was there by herself.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: So and at the same time, the even bigger, like the overall bigger picture is that so many things could be better or avoided or whatever if they would all just fucking talk to each other.
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: No, I get it.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: Communication is key.
- 23:41SPEAKER_03: And comprehension.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: This is a line from the office.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: An office runs on efficiency of communication, right?
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: It's like in the first episode.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, I don't watch that.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: The island runs on efficiency of communication.
- 23:54SPEAKER_03: Communication.
- 23:55SPEAKER_03: But but no, you're absolutely right.
- 23:57SPEAKER_03: But I have I kind of get her like her moment of pettiness because Jack has been nothing but petty.
- 24:04SPEAKER_03: So you like that.
- 24:06SPEAKER_03: And I think it would have been worse off if she was literally by herself at the when she saw that, like, you know, when she was she wasn't the only one there.
- 24:15SPEAKER_03: So the odds that someone else could have told him makes her pettiness not her pettiness not so petty.
- 24:22SPEAKER_03: I just that's just me because I don't like Jack.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: But if I'm being a good grown-up about it, yeah, communication should have been had.
- 24:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: We're not we're we're not on this podcast to be grown-ups.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: But let's let's like call a spade a spade, okay?
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: Because as adults, we all fail at communicating efficiently.
- 24:46unknown: Absolutely.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: No matter with who.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: So it's easy to sit here and watch a TV show and be like, oh my god, look, they if they if only they talk to each other when in our own lives shit happens and we can be like, oh damn, but if only we fuck up.
- 25:02SPEAKER_03: But on this podcast, we can be judgy and petty.
- 25:06SPEAKER_03: Oh absolutely.
- 25:07SPEAKER_03: We're good at that.
- 25:08SPEAKER_03: This is what we excel.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: Jack and Kate find that they have reached the line where they met the others.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Though Kate tries to discourage him, Jack begins to shout as loud as he can for the others to reveal themselves.
- 25:25SPEAKER_03: Right, because they're gonna pop out just because you told them to.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Alone, Bernard defiantly continues with his sign.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: Rose arrives and apologizes.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: Bernard asks her what for, and Rose admits that she lied to him in Australia, and that Isaac never truly healed her.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: Rose explains that a person can feel when there is something inside them that doesn't belong, and that after the crash she stopped feeling her cancer.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: She believes that it is the island that has healed her, and that she had to lie to stop Bernard trying to spend what little time they had left trying to constantly do something.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: At last, Bernard finally relinquishes his stubbornness, guessing that if Rose left the island, the cancer might return.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: He tells her, since she can never leave the island, then he can never leave as well.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: Thus Bernard gives up on the idea of trying to rescue Rose, and the two embrace lovingly.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: So when we get to that scene though, like in the in the end of the episode, because this is like the end of the episode, and then that's when we see I think I think it's at that moment that we see the last flashback with Rose when she's in the airport and she Bernard like walks away from her and she's sitting and she drops her pills, and who comes to pick them up for her?
- 26:54SPEAKER_03: Why do I remember that seeing that all?
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: And Locke rolls up in his wheelchair and picks up the pills and hands them to her.
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: Why do I remember that?
- 27:06SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 27:08SPEAKER_03: Did I turn?
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: I think I must I you know what I might have thought the episode was over and what about I think I tried, I think I turned the TV off, like I said off before it was that was no that I I don't remember that at all.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: I don't remember that.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so she's in the airport waiting to board the flight, and she looks in her purse and the pills fall, and you see the wheelchair, and Locke pick him up and say, Are these yours?
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: And she's like, Thank you.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: And he said Locke, you know, in his wheelchair couldn't all repress walkabout, and you know, he's like nodded and he rolled away, and so now this puts in perspective the conversation that they just had a few minutes ago where she says, But honey, you and I both know it's not gonna take that long.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: Because she knows that he was in a wheelchair.
- 28:03SPEAKER_03: But does Locke did you question?
- 28:06SPEAKER_03: Does you think Locke realized the connection?
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: He might have, but either that or 50-50.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, he just either A, he know he remembers the connection, or B, he just his faith and her faith, he just considers one of those untensive.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: And even if even if he doesn't realize that she knew she knows something, still have importance for him because you know right.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, why did I see that?
- 28:35SPEAKER_03: I think I think I turned it off before I realized it wasn't the good episode.
- 28:41SPEAKER_03: That was horrible of me! Yeah.
- 28:43SPEAKER_03: I'm going straight to TV How.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: Anna Lucia finds Locke in the hatch, who now seems more rested.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: With his faith returned to him, he heads to the computer room where he is at least able to accurately draw the map he saw.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: As night falls, most of the survivors sit around campfires, many structuring their relationship with partners.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: Out of the line, I'm sorry, out at the line, Kate asks Jack how long they are going to wait out there, and says that she is sorry for kissing him.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: Jack replies that he isn't, but before they can continue, the moment is shattered by a sight of the torch in the distance.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: As the two stand up, a figure emerges from the darkness, collapsing at their feet.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: Kate exclaims, Michael, as he lies dazed in their arms.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: I missed what a whole what five minutes of the last episode?
- 29:45unknown: Yeah.
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: Seriously.
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: They're sitting there.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: Okay, so at the end of the episode, uh, aside from the synopsis, they're sitting there.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: Jack and Kate are sitting there, and Kate is like, Well, how much longer are you gonna stay out here?
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: And Jack is like, and when my voice comes back, I'm gonna keep screaming.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: So you get the picture that he's been out there yelling for hours.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: So that I remember, and she starts telling him that she's sorry that she kissed him, and then the two start getting a little bit more intimate, and he's like, Well, I'm not, and then they hear something, and you think it's the others because they're still at the line, and at like the very last second, it's Michael.
- 30:26SPEAKER_03: I'm such a bad girl.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: Okay, but Michael doesn't say anything, but he's back.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: Okay, I'm pretty sure that some of this stuff, the memories just fell through the holes in my brain.
- 30:37SPEAKER_03: I remember him Jack saying that.
- 30:40SPEAKER_03: So you're gonna write me up now.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: My bad, homie.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about the title first.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: The title of the episode is right.
- 31:01SPEAKER_00: SOS is is very clearly what Bernard was trying to draw in the sand with the rocks.
- 31:09SPEAKER_03: But also save our souls is kind of like the whole echo thing.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you got locked religious luck.
- 31:18SPEAKER_03: Um, echo building a church, locking the church saving each other emotional soul.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, that's you can that in the flashback, Bernard basically rescuing Rose from the snowbank, and then trying to rescue her from her cancer, and then he's trying to rescue her from the island, and you also have your face when you drink.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: And then you also have Michael returning and collapsing, which is kind of like not it is almost like an SOS because it's you know, SOS could also mean like help, you know what I mean?
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: So, anything that I missed?
- 31:58SPEAKER_03: I think that's it.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: I think that covers all the saving in this episode that's happening.
- 32:03SPEAKER_03: Somebody needs to save all sassiness.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: Are you ready for trivia?
- 32:10SPEAKER_03: Give it to me, baby.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay.
- 32:13SPEAKER_00: So this is a good one, okay?
- 32:16SPEAKER_03: Promises, promises.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Rose accidentally dropped her pills at the airport, and Locke, still in his wheelchair, picked them up for her.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: She is one of only three crash survivors to know about Locke's paralysis.
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: The other crash survivors who found out about it are Boone and Deus Ex Machina, Rose, obviously now, and the third one, I'm not going to tell you who it is yet, but I will tell you this.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: All of the episodes where somebody found out is known to find out about his paralysis, were the 19th of their respective seasons.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: So, okay.
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: Three people on the island know about Locke's paralysis.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: Rose, Boone, and somebody else.
- 33:10SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: And in each of the episodes where the 19th episode was it?
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: Was it the 19th episode of that season?
- 33:18SPEAKER_03: That person.
- 33:19SPEAKER_03: Of that season.
- 33:20SPEAKER_03: Oh, of that season.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: So we found out in the 19th episode of season one.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: Rose, we know in the 19th season of season two.
- 33:28SPEAKER_00: And so the third person is gonna be the 19th episode of either three, four, or five, or six.
- 33:36SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 33:37SPEAKER_03: I'm not gonna tell you what.
- 33:38SPEAKER_03: Don't tell me.
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: Um, that's a good one.
- 33:41SPEAKER_03: I think that was a good one.
- 33:43SPEAKER_03: That was a good one.
- 33:44SPEAKER_03: Speaking of which, any trivia, I gotta do a check-in.
- 33:47SPEAKER_03: Any past trivia that we can talk about now?
- 33:51SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: I haven't checked, I'll do it like at the end of season two, which we're almost there, and then I'll go back and I'll I'll see.
- 33:57SPEAKER_03: A trivia episode.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: You probably won't even have that much, but I will go back and see how much we have.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: And we'll either do a trivia episode or recap.
- 34:09SPEAKER_03: Considering how much we go off on tangents, we might have two episodes just for trivia.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: Rose's line, I didn't ask for this, is the only time she is ever shown raising her voice in the series.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: The line is near a big black rock.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: And I think that the the rock is just there to like because it was very noticeable.
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: When Jack and Kate get to the line where the other said, don't cross it, there was just a big black rock there.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: Very visible.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: Did you even notice it?
- 34:47SPEAKER_00: No.
- 34:48SPEAKER_01: No.
- 34:53SPEAKER_00: This episode is one of two whose title is a three-letter abbreviation, the other one being D O C.
- 35:02SPEAKER_02: That's really inappropriate.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: In a deleted scene, Sun oh my god.
- 35:13SPEAKER_03: If you know what I was thinking, you'd be laughing too.
- 35:16SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: No, I'm trying to keep going.
- 35:19SPEAKER_02: That's what you said.
- 35:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: In a deleted scene, Sun talks briefly to Rose.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: During the conversation, Rose reveals that she once had a daughter who is now deceased.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: And Michael, Harold Perino, returns after being missing for eight episodes.
- 35:40SPEAKER_00: A eight being one of the numbers.
- 35:45SPEAKER_02: Dick on credit.
- 35:48SPEAKER_00: I was thinking that the C was gonna stand for command, but I guess credit works too.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: Dick on command.
- 35:54SPEAKER_03: Okay, yeah, that works but they both work quite well.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: In themes of the episode.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: Now Rose is the second person to quote unquote be healed after being on this island.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 36:17SPEAKER_00: Any thoughts on that?
- 36:19SPEAKER_03: It goes back to my season one Epiphany.
- 36:22SPEAKER_00: That they're dead.
- 36:24SPEAKER_03: They're all dead.
- 36:26SPEAKER_03: Then they're they're in like and then when they die on the island, they move on.
- 36:31SPEAKER_03: They've moved on.
- 36:32SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: Okay, but if they're all dead and they're healed from paralysis and cancer, then how is Locke having a crushed, you know, crushed legs and Sawyer got shot?
- 36:44SPEAKER_00: So how does that fit in?
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: Sawyer was made death.
- 36:48SPEAKER_03: People, you know the same way they don't know they're fucking dead.
- 36:52SPEAKER_03: I'm just saying, I think the whole I think them being on this island of death of purgatory or whatever you want to say, it's like it's like a learning experience for them to move on to whatever process.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: So I think everything that happens to them is a test for them to move on.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: Because if if nothing could happen, then there'd be no if nothing could happen to them, then they would already know they were dead.
- 37:17SPEAKER_03: Does that make sense?
- 37:19SPEAKER_03: Like there'd be no purpose of having it, like they don't know they're dead.
- 37:22SPEAKER_03: So of course life moves, quote unquote, life like shit happens in life.
- 37:27SPEAKER_03: So I think it's all orchestrated.
- 37:31SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 37:37SPEAKER_03: I got issues.
- 37:39SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 37:40SPEAKER_03: I'm special I'm a special type of I'm a special type of special.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: That's what we find out how Rose and Bernard met and how and and we get a um kind of like a uh a little look an estimate of how long they've been together, which is actually not very long.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: Um Kate tells Jack about the Dharma station, the staff station.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: Um Locke is still trying to draw that damn map.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: That's about it.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: Anything I missed?
- 38:23SPEAKER_03: Obviously, I'm not I'm not the person to ask because I missed a whole scene.
- 38:29SPEAKER_00: True.
- 38:30SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: Oh the next episode is two for the road.
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: And I believe it is an Ana Lucia episode.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: One for the money, two for the road.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: For you to get ready now.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: Go, cat, go, but don't you step on my blue sway shoes.
- 38:56SPEAKER_03: Okay, come on, you you cannot not expect me not to sing.
- 39:00SPEAKER_03: That was just that was waiting to be sung.
- 39:03SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 39:04SPEAKER_00: But isn't it two for the show?
- 39:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but this is lost.
- 39:07SPEAKER_03: I had to switch, I had to switch up the wording a little bit.
- 39:10unknown: Okay.
- 39:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, right.
- 39:16SPEAKER_03: Um, kind of special.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: Oh, I know.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: So the next episode is two for the road.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: We're gonna get more into Anna Lucia's past.
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: It's a good episode.
- 39:29SPEAKER_03: Wait, it must be good if you said it was good.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: It's a good episode.
- 39:33SPEAKER_03: Knowing how much you're in love for Anna Lucia.
- 39:36SPEAKER_00: I um I told you.
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: It's like it's more so at the beginning that she bothers me.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: And it doesn't matter how many times like I watch the episodes or the series or whatever, it's like those first few episodes.
- 39:51SPEAKER_00: It gets you go.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: It's like I can't like I just really grind your gears.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: Yes, and then after that, I'm kind of like, okay, she's less annoying now.
- 40:02SPEAKER_00: Um, are you ready to wrap up?
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: So stay tuned next time for our next episode, which will be two for the road, and we get back into Anna Lucia's backstory.
