- 0:00Speaker 1: You're waking up to Denver's Morning Show.
- 0:02Speaker 2: With Nina and Josh.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Mix 100.
- 0:05Speaker 2: We got some major family drama, as if that hasn't
- 0:09Speaker 2: been the trend for the past couple of weeks. It's
- 0:11Speaker 2: like the celebrity families are just going at each other.
- 0:15Speaker 2: And now we got drama for Mimi, Mariah Carey.
- 0:19Speaker 4: So she wrote this memoir.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Back in 2020, so it's been a few years now,
- 0:24Speaker 2: it's called The Meaning of Mariah Carey.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Okay.
- 0:27Speaker 2: And in this book, Mariah, she's talking about her life,
- 0:31Speaker 2: her upbringing.
- 0:32Speaker 4: She has a lot of siblings.
- 0:34Speaker 2: And her brother, Morgan Carey, did not like the parts
- 0:38Speaker 2: that she wrote in her book about him. She had
- 0:41Speaker 2: suggested that he had sold drugs back in the day
- 0:45Speaker 2: and been violent during their childhood. And he is now
- 0:49Speaker 2: trying to sue Mariah Carey for defamation because of those
- 0:52Speaker 2: claims in this book.
- 0:54Speaker 3: It's so funny to me how when you are siblings
- 0:56Speaker 3: and you're young, when you fight, it's just like maybe
- 0:59Speaker 3: the boy hits the girl or whatever and she hits back.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And now as adults, if you get famous, you're lucky
- 1:05Speaker 3: enough to become famous and make a little money in
- 1:07Speaker 3: the world.
- 1:08Speaker 1: They just sue you. All the siblings, they just sue
- 1:10Speaker 1: you when they get mad at you. It is crazy. Like,
- 1:11Speaker 1: give me some money, Mariah. That's wild.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Honestly, truly.
- 1:14Speaker 2: So the fact that Mariah's brother was trying to sue her,
- 1:17Speaker 2: it's like, okay, we're going to do this.
- 1:20Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:21Speaker 2: But then a judge, it's just already not going well
- 1:24Speaker 2: for this guy. A judge already dismissed this entire case.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Good.
- 1:28Speaker 2: They said Morgan fails to provide any proof that Mariah
- 1:31Speaker 2: knowingly lied about him in her book, and he has
- 1:34Speaker 2: not met the legal requirements to.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Even sue his sister.
- 1:37Speaker 3: What?
- 1:38Speaker 4: He has already said.
- 1:39Speaker 2: He plans to appeal and he's going to get whatever
- 1:41Speaker 2: he needs to get together to try to continue this
- 1:44Speaker 2: case for defamation.
- 1:45Speaker 4: But I mean, like you.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Were saying, if you're your siblings and you're growing up
- 1:49Speaker 2: in a household, there are a lot of siblings like.
- 1:52Speaker 4: You know, you're not supposed to hit each other as
- 1:54Speaker 4: brother and sister, but.
- 1:55Speaker 1: It happens as kids. I had four siblings. I understand
- 1:58Speaker 1: it happens. Right.
- 1:59Speaker 2: And so I haven't read the book, so I don't
- 2:02Speaker 2: know exactly what the claims are. But all I know is, like,
- 2:07Speaker 2: my mom's older brothers used to, like, lock her in
- 2:09Speaker 2: a closet for hours.
- 2:10Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 2: When you're kids, you're just doing all sorts of stuff.
- 2:15Speaker 1: It ain't childhood until you're locked in a closet for
- 2:17Speaker 1: one or two hours. Come on now, right? That's what
- 2:19Speaker 1: I'm saying. No, that's crazy.
- 2:20Speaker 3: That's just so weird to me that you're like, oh,
- 2:22Speaker 3: I'm so pissed off at my sibling that I'm going
- 2:24Speaker 3: to sue you.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Especially with essentially no clause, right?
- 2:28Speaker 3: No.
- 2:28Speaker 2: And the judge is like, you're doing this whole thing
- 2:31Speaker 2: wrong already. What are we doing here?
- 2:32Speaker 1: Doing it out of spite. That is wild.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Well, Selena Gomez, she has been in the news recently
- 2:37Speaker 3: because she has finally opened up about why she sounds
- 2:41Speaker 3: so different. She has sounded different. kind of like a
- 2:44Speaker 3: heavy smoker. And that's actually the reason, a little bit.
- 2:48Speaker 3: She has said that how much she vaped early on
- 2:52Speaker 3: in her 20s and even into her teens has really
- 2:55Speaker 3: affected her voice. In an Instagram story that she posted
- 2:58Speaker 3: the other day, she admitted that she was a heavy
- 3:01Speaker 3: nicotine user, and it has altered her vocal quality. She goes,
- 3:05Speaker 3: in quote, I vaped a lot of nicotine, okay? It's
- 3:07Speaker 3: so stupid, but it has changed my voice. She acknowledged
- 3:10Speaker 3: that Her voice, honestly, may never fully recover, which is
- 3:14Speaker 3: a little scary, actually.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah, because your vocal cords, they get inflamed by smoking.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and that causes your voice to get a little deeper.
- 3:22Speaker 3: She says that, I kind of like her response, though,
- 3:25Speaker 3: fans that dislike her voice change, hey, you don't have
- 3:27Speaker 3: to listen to me. And on a positive note, she
- 3:29Speaker 3: has confirmed that she has completely quit vaping. and encourages
- 3:33Speaker 3: others to do so who are struggling with that addiction.
- 3:35Speaker 3: She says, quote, if you are going through something, you
- 3:38Speaker 3: can get through it too. And then, of course, she
- 3:40Speaker 3: also ended on a positive note saying, hey, by the way,
- 3:43Speaker 3: my new season of Only Murders in the Building is
- 3:45Speaker 3: coming December 8th.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So good for you, Selena.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Good for her. Yeah, I mean, I've seen a lot
- 3:52Speaker 2: of stuff online, a lot of people making comments about
- 3:54Speaker 2: her voice and everything like.
- 3:56Speaker 4: That, and it has changed.
- 3:57Speaker 1: It's deeper for sure. Yeah, it is.
- 3:59Speaker 4: It is deeper.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Some people even saying like, oh, I really like that show,
- 4:02Speaker 2: but I can't watch it anymore because of her voice.
- 4:05Speaker 1: But that's me.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I know it is kind.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Of it is for sure.
- 4:08Speaker 2: But Selena Gomez, she always handles everything with grace and
- 4:11Speaker 2: she's doing the exact same thing with this whole thing.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Well, people's voices changes throughout their lives no matter what.
- 4:17Speaker 1: It's true. I mean, you get older and your voice change.
- 4:19Speaker 1: It happens.
- 4:20Speaker 4: It's very, very true.
- 4:21Speaker 2: But good for her for saying, like, hey, this is
- 4:23Speaker 2: what I did.
- 4:23Speaker 4: It was bad.
- 4:24Speaker 2: And she is also kind of advocating. For all the
- 4:26Speaker 2: kids right now, I mean, vaping is still huge.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Massive.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Vaping is still just doing too much with the kids
- 4:33Speaker 2: these days.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Like, smoking cigs is coming back, too. I'm like, what
- 4:36Speaker 1: is happening?
- 4:37Speaker 4: Which is wild.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I know. I was like, I thought we eradicated that
- 4:39Speaker 1: a little bit. I thought we.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Learned from all of this. So, I don't know.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Take it from Selena Gomez. It's not worth it, kids.
- 4:45Speaker 2: It's just not worth it. So tonight, Josh, I am
- 4:50Speaker 2: very excited, and my husband is dreading it.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Oh, no. What happened?
- 4:55Speaker 2: No, these are my favorite kind of days. I love
- 4:57Speaker 2: dragging my husband to things that he doesn't.
- 4:59Speaker 4: Want to do.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Isn't that why people get married?
- 5:01Speaker 4: I thought so, right?
- 5:02Speaker 1: I feel like that's the reason, yeah.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Exactly. No, I am going to go see Beauty and
- 5:06Speaker 2: the Beast tonight. It is coming to the Buell, and
- 5:10Speaker 2: tonight is opening night, and it goes on until November
- 5:14Speaker 2: 7th to check out Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
- 5:16Speaker 4: A little play, live performance right in front of us.
- 5:19Speaker 1: That's sick.
- 5:19Speaker 2: And we get to sit at the Buell Theater, and
- 5:21Speaker 2: I'm just so excited about it.
- 5:23Speaker 1: There's something about opening nights, too.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Like, I think you should go see Beauty and the
- 5:26Speaker 3: Beast regardless, but there's something about opening night, the vibe.
- 5:30Speaker 1: You can literally feel how alive everything is.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Excitement.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Because all the cast is so excited, too.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Like, they're like, this is it. This is what we
- 5:37Speaker 1: worked for.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 5:38Speaker 1: The start of their season, if you will.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Oh, 100%.
- 5:40Speaker 1: In sports terms, because I'm a sports guy. But I
- 5:43Speaker 1: love that. I'm actually kind of jealous.
- 5:45Speaker 2: That's cool.
- 5:45Speaker 4: I am very excited about it. I get to go.
- 5:48Speaker 4: I love plays.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I love musical theater. I did a little bit of
- 5:51Speaker 2: it in high school. I wish I was better at it.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Did you? I'm pretty sure I'm tone deaf, so it
- 5:55Speaker 2: just never really worked out for me. But I loved
- 5:59Speaker 2: doing it.
- 6:00Speaker 4: You know, it's okay. I've come to terms with it.
- 6:02Speaker 4: It's really okay.
- 6:03Speaker 1: It's okay. Self-aware queen. Right. Thank you. Thank you.
- 6:06Speaker 2: But no, I do. I love live performances. There's just
- 6:09Speaker 2: so much work behind it. There's so much passion to
- 6:13Speaker 2: do it. And especially at this level. Now, the reason
- 6:16Speaker 2: why I say I'm so excited is, you know, because
- 6:19Speaker 2: of everything I just said. But my husband is not
- 6:22Speaker 2: as excited. He's just not a musical theater kind of person.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:27Speaker 4: It's just not for him.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I understand that.
- 6:28Speaker 4: And that's okay.
- 6:29Speaker 2: But like I said, husband and wife, like I'm gonna
- 6:33Speaker 2: drag you to things and he is gonna be the
- 6:37Speaker 2: beast to my beauty tonight.
- 6:39Speaker 4: And we're gonna go. I'm so excited.
- 6:41Speaker 3: You know what's funny is I am a lot like
- 6:43Speaker 3: your husband. When I was in high school, I had
- 6:46Speaker 3: to take one semester of like an arts credit. I
- 6:49Speaker 3: had to do something. And I was obviously more on
- 6:52Speaker 3: the sports side. I was playing sports. I was like, no,
- 6:55Speaker 3: my friends are on the sports side, all that stuff.
- 6:57Speaker 3: And I will say, the class that I took, it
- 6:59Speaker 3: was like theater one, intro to theater. Was one of
- 7:03Speaker 3: the most fun classes I had ever taken in my life.
- 7:07Speaker 3: We had to learn these crazy tongue twisters so that
- 7:10Speaker 3: we speak correctly and pronounce everything correctly.
- 7:16Speaker 1: And my teacher, I will give a shout out to him, Mr. Munsterman.
- 7:19Speaker 3: He told me at the beginning of the semester, because
- 7:21Speaker 3: he could tell I was not into it. He's like,
- 7:23Speaker 3: I promise you, if this is not the most fun
- 7:25Speaker 3: semester you have of your entire life, he's like, I
- 7:27Speaker 3: will stop teaching.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Mr. Munsterman, it was. It was so awesome.
- 7:32Speaker 3: The way that he flipped everything and made it so
- 7:34Speaker 3: much fun as a learning experience, it was awesome. And
- 7:37Speaker 3: it totally changed my view on theater and how incredible
- 7:42Speaker 3: it really is and how much, like you said, goes
- 7:44Speaker 3: into it. I remember I took A couple years ago,
- 7:46Speaker 3: my girlfriend at the time, we went to an opening
- 7:49Speaker 3: night of the Nutcracker. And that was so cool to
- 7:52Speaker 3: see and the performing arts that they did and the
- 7:54Speaker 3: dances that they did and learned.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Unbelievable. So I definitely have a thrill of going
- 7:59Speaker 1: to see the arts as well.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Well, that's good.
- 8:01Speaker 4: I love that you had that great experience in high school.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I feel like Joshua Owen almost turned into Troy Bolton.
- 8:09Speaker 2: You almost had a high school musical moment there.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I got my head in the game.
- 8:12Speaker 2: The sports guy, he's like, ooh, I actually kind of
- 8:15Speaker 2: like this.
- 8:16Speaker 1: It really was.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I mean, seriously, I'll never forget the speeches we had
- 8:20Speaker 3: to give. We had to go on stage and learn
- 8:22Speaker 3: stage right and left, which is opposite of what the
- 8:24Speaker 3: crowd sees. It was just such a learning experience and
- 8:28Speaker 3: something that I had no clue how to do. I
- 8:30Speaker 3: did choir because I enjoy singing. So I did choir
- 8:34Speaker 3: and stuff. But theater is so different than choir.
- 8:37Speaker 4: It really is.
- 8:37Speaker 3: It requires so much more attention to detail other than
- 8:40Speaker 3: just learning a song and things like that.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Light design, choreography, it just marks on the stage. You
- 8:46Speaker 2: need to be over here two steps over from where
- 8:48Speaker 2: you currently are.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Designing the set, too, first of all, is one of
- 8:51Speaker 3: the most incredible things, too.
- 8:53Speaker 1: That's what makes the entire performance come alive.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I mean, obviously, you can act your butt off, but
- 8:57Speaker 3: if people don't know where you are, it doesn't really matter.
- 9:00Speaker 3: So set design, everything, all of that goes, so much
- 9:03Speaker 3: goes into it. So I definitely have a heart for
- 9:06Speaker 3: it now, but it's just funny to see how much
- 9:08Speaker 3: my mind changed. Because, I mean, Nina, going into that,
- 9:10Speaker 3: I was like, Absolutely not. You won't catch me dead
- 9:13Speaker 3: doing this.
- 9:14Speaker 2: This is dumb.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. It was such a blast. I really
- 9:18Speaker 1: enjoyed it.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Love it.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Well, I will give you a full report tomorrow after
- 9:22Speaker 2: I go to opening night of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
- 9:24Speaker 4: It's going to be at Buell Theater.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Is this one of the things that you cannot take
- 9:27Speaker 1: pictures of?
- 9:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, shoot.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I was going to say send pics.
- 9:30Speaker 2: No, I can't. I can't take pictures of the actual performance. But,
- 9:33Speaker 2: you know, I'll probably take some pictures of the theater.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I think I got some B-roll in my email.
- 9:37Speaker 1: There you go.
- 9:38Speaker 4: I can post the B-roll.
- 9:39Speaker 1: There we go. Okay, cool.
- 9:40Speaker 4: It's some, right?
- 9:41Speaker 1: It's some. Let us know, though.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Three things you need to know before you go into
- 9:45Speaker 2: the office today, including when I first moved to Colorado,
- 9:49Speaker 2: I heard about this, and I was shocked that it
- 9:52Speaker 2: ever happened. And then almost 10 years later, I still
- 9:54Speaker 2: laugh that we have a yearly sun glare detour overhead.
- 10:00Speaker 4: At Floyd Hill.
- 10:01Speaker 1: What?
- 10:02Speaker 4: Yeah. How have you never heard of this?
- 10:03Speaker 1: I've never, I don't even know what you're talking. I've
- 10:05Speaker 1: never heard of this at all. What are you talking about?
- 10:06Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Well, let me explain. That's weird that you don't know
- 10:09Speaker 4: about it.
- 10:09Speaker 3: I'm virtually a Colorado native. Well, I guess I'm not
- 10:12Speaker 3: going on Floyd Hill early in the morning.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Right, right, right.
- 10:15Speaker 2: So CDOT warned drivers yesterday that this closure, this detour,
- 10:19Speaker 2: is going to be coming early November. It could happen
- 10:22Speaker 2: as early as November 1st. It just depends on what
- 10:24Speaker 2: the sun is doing. And it's going to last usually
- 10:27Speaker 2: through February. But drivers are going to be rerouted eastbound
- 10:32Speaker 2: I-70 at the bottom of Floyd Hill.
- 10:34Speaker 4: And you either continue on.
- 10:36Speaker 2: 6th through Clear Creek Clear Creek Canyon or you take
- 10:39Speaker 2: the eastbound frontage road and then you can reenter I-70
- 10:42Speaker 2: if you're going eastbound in the mornings. Because the hill
- 10:46Speaker 2: there plus the bright winter sun makes it dangerous. The
- 10:50Speaker 2: sun just comes at you at the angle that it
- 10:54Speaker 2: is and the hill. And it's like the perfect storm
- 10:57Speaker 2: where it makes it really dangerous. You can't see when
- 11:00Speaker 2: you're driving.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Hey, that makes perfect sense.
- 11:02Speaker 3: When we were at our old building, there was a
- 11:05Speaker 3: time where I had to go from C470 to I-25
- 11:07Speaker 3: on that interchange right there. There's about 10 seconds of
- 11:10Speaker 3: me being like, I hope I'm even on the road
- 11:12Speaker 3: right now.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I can't see right now.
- 11:14Speaker 1: So I get that.
- 11:14Speaker 3: I just didn't know they closed down the entire road
- 11:17Speaker 3: for months.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Yeah, for several months, like in the mornings, this is
- 11:21Speaker 2: the detour that happens over there.
- 11:22Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 11:23Speaker 2: And this detour happens every single year. So the fact
- 11:25Speaker 2: that I am telling you for the first time right now, Josh,
- 11:28Speaker 2: is absurd to me.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I mean, yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 2: This happens every year.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Again, I'm not driving the road at that time. But yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 1: that's crazy. I've never heard of this. That is a
- 11:37Speaker 1: wild thing. And it's such a Colorado thing.
- 11:39Speaker 2: It's such a Colorado. And that's what I was saying. Like,
- 11:41Speaker 2: I grew up in northern Illinois. I'm a Midwest girl.
- 11:45Speaker 2: I lived in southern Illinois, Missouri area. And I have
- 11:49Speaker 2: just never heard of this happening anywhere else.
- 11:52Speaker 1: They ain't got nothing like it? Uh-uh.
- 11:53Speaker 4: Nothing like it.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Oh, Colorado, we love you. That's crazy.
- 11:57Speaker 3: All right, this is a super interesting story, and it
- 12:00Speaker 3: has now made its way kind of all around the world, essentially,
- 12:03Speaker 3: because it's kind of starting out in England. But Jalen Hurts,
- 12:06Speaker 3: the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles, is going viral right
- 12:10Speaker 3: now simply because he has blood clots everywhere. But that's
- 12:15Speaker 3: not the main reason. The main reason is he played
- 12:18Speaker 3: a football game with blood clots in his lungs and.
- 12:22Speaker 1: His legs, okay?
- 12:23Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that's so dangerous.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:25Speaker 1: What the heck is happening?
- 12:26Speaker 3: First of all, the fact that he was cleared to
- 12:28Speaker 3: play in an NFL game because of this, wild. And
- 12:31Speaker 3: the Eagles are under a lot of scrutiny right now
- 12:35Speaker 3: and under investigation as to why they allowed.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Him to play. This is the craziest thing that you'll
- 12:39Speaker 1: hear about this.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Not only did he play in an NFL game with
- 12:42Speaker 3: these blood clots, but 36 hours before this, he was
- 12:46Speaker 3: under constant surveillance because the Eagles allowed him to fly
- 12:50Speaker 3: to England while having blood clots. So he was on
- 12:53Speaker 3: a plane- For the London games. They always do this
- 12:55Speaker 3: every single year. There's London games because football's worldwide now, right?
- 12:59Speaker 3: So they fly to England, and then they play a
- 13:01Speaker 3: football game. First of all, flying while having blood clots
- 13:04Speaker 3: is incredibly dangerous.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 3: On top of that, they did not allow him to
- 13:09Speaker 3: sleep for 36 hours before the football game because they
- 13:14Speaker 3: said it could have been detrimental to his health.
- 13:16Speaker 1: How about playing a football game with blood clots? Hell yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 1: What is happening? I don't know. I don't understand this.
- 13:22Speaker 3: The Eagles head coach had to answer a multitude of
- 13:25Speaker 3: questions yesterday during his media availability about what is going on.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Why are you allowing your players to do this? Did
- 13:31Speaker 1: you know about this?
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeah. And he kind of just tossed the medical team
- 13:35Speaker 3: under the bus a little bit saying like, hey, I
- 13:37Speaker 3: do what they say.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yeah. They said everything was fine. this is a horrible look,
- 13:42Speaker 1: first of all.
- 13:43Speaker 2: No, 100%, because this is just so dangerous for this athlete,
- 13:46Speaker 2: this person, this human being who is going through this.
- 13:49Speaker 1: And that's the thing.
- 13:50Speaker 3: A lot of people are kind of coming back saying, like,
- 13:53Speaker 3: the NFL is such a money grab. You guys are
- 13:55Speaker 3: so into just making as much money as you can. Obviously,
- 13:58Speaker 3: Jalen Hurts is their star quarterback. They're like, you're putting
- 14:01Speaker 3: his life in your hands, essentially, because... You don't care
- 14:05Speaker 3: about his health and how he feels or what's going
- 14:07Speaker 3: on with him. Yeah.
- 14:08Speaker 1: You just want to make your money.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And to a degree, I kind of agree with that. No, 100%.
- 14:12Speaker 1: What they're doing is wrong.
- 14:15Speaker 2: It is.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 2: And this, I mean, I'm not a sports person just
- 14:18Speaker 2: like you are, Josh. And this even made it to
- 14:20Speaker 2: my timeline. And so- I saw the 36-hour thing, and
- 14:24Speaker 2: I thought that was for medical surveillance. I had no
- 14:27Speaker 2: idea they flew him out to England to play a game.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I know.
- 14:30Speaker 3: It's like the biggest no thing ever is you do
- 14:33Speaker 3: not fly if you have any type of health issue
- 14:35Speaker 3: with blood clots.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Oh, that's messed up, dude.
- 14:37Speaker 3: It's the weirdest thing. And on top of that, he's
- 14:39Speaker 3: now out for the season. He will not play another
- 14:41Speaker 3: game as he's being surveyed, essentially. to make sure that
- 14:45Speaker 3: he's okay. Now, I know when you get these things,
- 14:47Speaker 3: you have to be on blood thinners and stuff like that, but.
- 14:48Speaker 1: It takes time. It takes a long time for these
- 14:50Speaker 1: to go away.
- 14:51Speaker 2: And it's very scary, because he's not that old.
- 14:54Speaker 4: No, he's in his 20s.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Why do you have all these blood clots? What's happening?
- 14:57Speaker 1: That's the other thing. They don't know.
- 14:59Speaker 3: So, I mean, these things are definitely, I mean, they
- 15:01Speaker 3: can become life-threatening, especially if they're in your lungs like
- 15:03Speaker 3: they are for him. So Jalen, we're thinking about you, buddy.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Get well soon. But yeah, definitely a very interesting story
- 15:08Speaker 3: that's evolving. I do not think we've heard the last
- 15:10Speaker 3: of it yet.
- 15:11Speaker 4: No, I definitely want updates on that.
- 15:14Speaker 2: And really quick, to wrap it up, the third thing
- 15:16Speaker 2: you need to know, I-270 has broken ground on a
- 15:20Speaker 2: $ 806 million project which will overhaul I-270 to ease traffic.
- 15:26Speaker 2: It's going to replace a bunch of aging bridges, and
- 15:29Speaker 2: it's just going to make it safer for everyone that
- 15:31Speaker 2: drives that stretch of road. I mean, that stretch sees 100,000
- 15:35Speaker 2: vehicles every single day. It's six miles between I-25 and
- 15:39Speaker 2: I-70 where all these bridges are going to be. They're
- 15:42Speaker 2: going to widen the lanes. They're going to add new
- 15:44Speaker 2: tolled express lanes. So eventually, once all the construction is
- 15:48Speaker 2: done with, it will just make traffic easier in that area.
- 15:52Speaker 4: But it is going to take seven years.
- 15:54Speaker 2: So... Don't hold your breath.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Seven years, that sees 100,000 vehicles a day. Good luck, people.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Right, what were we just talking about? Seven is the
- 16:04Speaker 2: unlucky number, actually.
- 16:05Speaker 1: It really is.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Ooh, seven years.
- 16:09Speaker 2: We are getting things spooky around here, in case you
- 16:11Speaker 2: missed it. 13 Days of Halloween airs at 8.30 today.
- 16:16Speaker 2: We have a new scary story for you every single day,
- 16:19Speaker 2: told by you, Mix 100 listeners. So if you have
- 16:23Speaker 2: a ghost story, a little haunted story, something happened that
- 16:26Speaker 2: you can't quite explain, we would love to hear about it.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Text us and you could be featured next on 13
- 16:33Speaker 2: Days of Halloween. On Mix 100.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Honestly, it's just fun to hear all these stories. I'm like,
- 16:38Speaker 3: oh my gosh, you guys live some crazy lives. I know.
- 16:40Speaker 4: And some of it is so creepy.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Like today's at 830 is creepy.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I'm pumped. It is creepy. I'm scared now. Yeah.
- 16:47Speaker 4: So watch out for that at 830.
- 16:49Speaker 2: And then, of course, you can catch it again online
- 16:51Speaker 2: at Mix 100 Denver on all the socials. And Josh,
- 16:54Speaker 2: speaking of creepy and haunted things, you have something going
- 16:58Speaker 2: on at your neighbor's house.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Yeah, my neighbors are doing something different this year. I
- 17:02Speaker 3: actually have a pretty cool neighborhood where most of my
- 17:05Speaker 3: neighbors decorate their houses for certain holidays.
- 17:08Speaker 1: And I like that.
- 17:09Speaker 3: I like when you can drive through the neighborhood and
- 17:11Speaker 3: actually see that people like to celebrate things.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Be festive and fun.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 17:15Speaker 3: It is super fun. I really enjoy it. But I
- 17:17Speaker 3: have two neighbors that are just down the street. They're
- 17:19Speaker 3: not my next door, but just a few houses down.
- 17:21Speaker 3: And they have gone to the nth degree of decorating.
- 17:26Speaker 3: And I've seen them doing this like, you know, kind
- 17:28Speaker 3: of step by step throughout the days for like the
- 17:31Speaker 3: last month and a half. Like I would say they
- 17:33Speaker 3: probably started midway through August for this stuff.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Really?
- 17:38Speaker 3: And it's really funny to see someone put a massive
- 17:41Speaker 3: skeleton on their house halfway through August.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Because you're like, what are you doing? What is happening?
- 17:47Speaker 3: But I guess houses now can like enter into competitions.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:53Speaker 3: And the house and their next door neighbor is, have
- 17:56Speaker 3: come together and started making one giant haunted house.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Really? Through their own houses.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Just in the middle of your neighborhood?
- 18:03Speaker 3: In the middle of my neighborhood. And I'm telling you,
- 18:05Speaker 3: I showed you the picture, Nina. Maybe we can post
- 18:07Speaker 3: them later. The pictures of the houses that I showed you,
- 18:10Speaker 3: there is... maybe a few inches of grass that you
- 18:15Speaker 3: can see throughout their entire yard. It is that stacked,
- 18:19Speaker 3: full of ghosts and ghouls and goblins and scary creatures.
- 18:24Speaker 3: They went all out, and I love this, and I
- 18:26Speaker 3: think every night, They open up at some time, like
- 18:29Speaker 3: let's say 7 p.m.
- 18:29Speaker 1: When it gets dark. Sure, yeah. And you can actually
- 18:32Speaker 1: tour because now I'm seeing cars.
- 18:33Speaker 4: You can do their haunted house.
- 18:34Speaker 1: You can go right through it. That's cool. Which is awesome.
- 18:37Speaker 3: And now I'm seeing cars get lined up and like
- 18:38Speaker 3: they're lining up just to see the outside.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Yeah. And then I think they're noticing that you can
- 18:42Speaker 1: go inside. And I'm like, I got to do this.
- 18:43Speaker 1: So I got to figure out a time that I
- 18:44Speaker 1: can actually go through and see this.
- 18:46Speaker 4: You have to. You live next door to a haunted house.
- 18:48Speaker 1: How sick is that?
- 18:49Speaker 4: You absolutely have to go and do that.
- 18:51Speaker 1: All right, fine, I will, depending on how expensive it is.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. We're going to post up those pictures on
- 18:55Speaker 2: our Facebook, and we would love to see your decorations
- 18:58Speaker 2: that you have going on for Halloween. So Halle Berry's
- 19:01Speaker 2: court proceedings have begun on this child custody case. involving
- 19:05Speaker 2: her 13-year-old son who claims that Hallie put hands on him.
- 19:10Speaker 2: He was approved by a judge to testify in court,
- 19:13Speaker 2: which Hallie tried to stop, but she did fail at that.
- 19:16Speaker 2: The hearing is still going and no reporters are allowed inside.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Yesterday was their first day in court. So we have
- 19:24Speaker 2: no idea what's going on in that courtroom. And I
- 19:27Speaker 2: know we were a little concerned about Halle Berry because
- 19:30Speaker 2: her 13 year old was allowed to testify. And we
- 19:33Speaker 2: heard rumors and reports of Halle's ex Oliver coaching their
- 19:38Speaker 2: son on what to say in court, which is a
- 19:40Speaker 2: little crazy. But the good.
- 19:43Speaker 4: News is that she seems to be in good spirits.
- 19:46Speaker 2: I mean, I know it was only day one and
- 19:47Speaker 2: we still have a few more days to go until
- 19:49Speaker 2: we figure out.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Stuff out.
- 19:51Speaker 2: But she was walking outside of the courthouse. Of course,
- 19:55Speaker 2: she didn't say anything to all the reporters swarming her.
- 19:57Speaker 2: But she had a little smirk, a little smile on
- 20:00Speaker 2: her face. So I'm thinking maybe she's doing okay today.
- 20:04Speaker 2: day one on this case, but we'll find out.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Hopefully that means things are kind of going in her favor,
- 20:09Speaker 3: because that's a huge deal to lose custody of your child, right?
- 20:11Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Well, Miley Cyrus, you know, we talked about her yesterday, Nina,
- 20:15Speaker 3: how she had two concerts over the weekend, and they
- 20:17Speaker 3: just seemed a little off, right?
- 20:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Maybe she wasn't really... into it or had her heart
- 20:24Speaker 3: in it. She is clapping back at the people saying
- 20:28Speaker 3: that she was not into it. She defended her Hollywood
- 20:30Speaker 3: Bowl comeback show after online criticism, like we said, kind
- 20:33Speaker 3: of was like, are you committed to this?
- 20:35Speaker 1: We were talking about that. Yeah.
- 20:37Speaker 4: She just didn't seem like she was super into it.
- 20:40Speaker 4: She seemed like she had other stuff going on.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Well, she spoke to the crowd at her second concert
- 20:45Speaker 3: where she's dismissed a bunch of what she called clickbait videos.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Saying that she wasn't singing every word.
- 20:51Speaker 3: She goes, look, I can take a lot, but the
- 20:53Speaker 3: one thing that I will not stand is any question
- 20:55Speaker 3: about where my heart is when I'm on stage.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I am fully present.
- 21:00Speaker 3: She also went on to say that returning to her
- 21:01Speaker 3: live performances after four years is different. She goes, it
- 21:05Speaker 3: hasn't felt natural, essentially. She goes, in quote, we change,
- 21:09Speaker 3: we evolve, and we grow. She said that to the audience.
- 21:13Speaker 1: So, I understand.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Maybe she just was a little nervous or out of
- 21:16Speaker 3: her comfort zone. I mean, four years of not performing
- 21:19Speaker 3: is a long time. I can't imagine taking four years
- 21:22Speaker 3: off of this job and trying to get.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Back into it.
- 21:24Speaker 4: And then get back into it.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I understand. Maybe she just felt a little out of
- 21:27Speaker 1: her comfort zone.
- 21:28Speaker 3: And the more she does this, hopefully at the Hollywood Bowl,
- 21:30Speaker 3: or if she decides to go on tour later on
- 21:32Speaker 3: in life, that it will kind of come back to
- 21:35Speaker 3: being natural to her. But right now, I like that
- 21:37Speaker 3: she fired back because she was kind of taking some heat,
- 21:39Speaker 3: even from us. We were like, hey, Miley, what are
- 21:41Speaker 3: you doing?
- 21:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I saw the videos, and I saw
- 21:44Speaker 2: people's claims, and I wasn't there, so I don't for
- 21:46Speaker 2: sure know, but all I know is I love Miley Cyrus.
- 21:49Speaker 2: I know she has a lot going on right now,
- 21:52Speaker 2: and you just, yeah, if your heart and soul is
- 21:54Speaker 2: not there on the stage, people notice.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm glad that she said it is. At
- 21:58Speaker 3: least that's what she's saying, so hopefully next time she'll
- 22:01Speaker 3: be a little bit more lively.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Okay, we're looking forward to it, Miley. Yeah.
- 22:05Speaker 4: And this is really sad.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Ariana Grande, she hasn't really been spotted a whole lot
- 22:09Speaker 2: after her tour ended. About a month ago, she has
- 22:12Speaker 2: taken some time off right now. There was like one
- 22:14Speaker 2: sighting with her boyfriend, Ricky, and then she posted on Instagram,
- 22:18Speaker 2: but it's mostly for her makeup brand and things like that,
- 22:20Speaker 2: so we know it's not really her posting, but... We
- 22:23Speaker 2: did get one very sad update from her yesterday. Her
- 22:27Speaker 2: dog Coco passed away at age 17.
- 22:30Speaker 4: Whoa, 17 though.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 22:34Speaker 2: So she posted a bunch of photos of Coco. She said, sweetest,
- 22:37Speaker 2: most amazing, and most beautiful Coco. I'm so proud of you.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Thank you for your love and for blessing this planet
- 22:43Speaker 2: with your physical presence for over 17 wonderful years.
- 22:47Speaker 4: And yeah, exactly that, 17.
- 22:50Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Not many dogs get that many years, so that's a
- 22:53Speaker 3: blessing that she got Coco for 17 years, but Obviously,
- 22:56Speaker 3: passing away after that long, heartbreaking.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Totally. We love our fur babies so, so much. So
- 23:02Speaker 2: Ariana going through it right now, and I get it.
- 23:05Speaker 2: But she seems to be taking it in grace. 17,
- 23:07Speaker 2: that's amazing.
- 23:08Speaker 1: I mean, it's like you can't say gone too soon
- 23:10Speaker 1: at that point, right? Right, exactly. That was before her
- 23:13Speaker 1: music career even started, right? 17 years ago?
- 23:15Speaker 4: For most of it, yeah.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Good for her.
- 23:17Speaker 2: For sure, for sure. Three things you need to know
- 23:18Speaker 2: before you go into the office today, like the Canadian
- 23:21Speaker 2: man who had way too much fun in Vegas, and
- 23:24Speaker 2: snatched that live flamingo from the exhibit at the Flamingo Hotel. Yeah,
- 23:29Speaker 2: he was found guilty for animal cruelty yesterday.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Really? You don't say.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Prosecutors are calling it a drunken and malicious act.
- 23:38Speaker 4: The man says.
- 23:39Speaker 2: He never intended to harm the bird, but the fact
- 23:42Speaker 2: of the matter is that he did. There were injuries
- 23:45Speaker 2: to the bird's wing, feathers were plucked, and Peachy the
- 23:49Speaker 2: flamingo did feel pain when it was pulled by its feet.
- 23:52Speaker 2: and has even shown a little bit of PTSD when
- 23:56Speaker 2: the veterinarians go to work with her. She gets real
- 23:59Speaker 2: nervous now. So this man is now facing up to
- 24:03Speaker 2: four years in prison for the felony, plus six months
- 24:06Speaker 2: of jail time for the misdemeanor conviction.
- 24:09Speaker 4: But you know what?
- 24:10Speaker 2: Luckily, Peachy is overall okay and back in her exhibit.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Peachy the flamingo.
- 24:17Speaker 3: This is just, I'm so glad she's okay because the
- 24:20Speaker 3: story is hilarious.
- 24:21Speaker 2: It's just ridiculous. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 1: How do you even catch a flamingo? Are they slow? Like,
- 24:26Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I would think they're kind of slow.
- 24:28Speaker 1: I mean, they're kind of goofy looking, so maybe they're not.
- 24:30Speaker 4: And they're just right there. I've never been to the flamingo.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I have not. No, I have not.
- 24:34Speaker 2: They're literally right there.
- 24:35Speaker 1: They're right. Okay.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Like you just climb over barely a little railing and
- 24:39Speaker 2: they're right there.
- 24:39Speaker 1: That's kind of funny. Yeah.
- 24:41Speaker 3: All right. Well, I have a really good news story here.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Eddie Brown, who is a father in Virginia, partnered with
- 24:46Speaker 3: a bunch of students at his local county high school
- 24:49Speaker 3: to refurbish and donate over 60 cars to single mothers
- 24:54Speaker 3: in need.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 24:55Speaker 1: This is so cool.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Eddie launched the initiative through Giving Words Foundation and his
- 24:59Speaker 3: son mentioned giving an auto tech class that needed vehicles
- 25:02Speaker 3: to practice repairs on, right?
- 25:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Brown was already fixing his car for a daughter's friend
- 25:08Speaker 3: who was a single mom when the idea clicked in
- 25:11Speaker 3: his head. He said, we're providing cars, not what we're
- 25:14Speaker 3: really offering is dignity and independence for these women. Brown
- 25:18Speaker 3: told Women's World that one participant, Monica, said that Eddie
- 25:22Speaker 3: didn't just give us a car, he gave me my
- 25:25Speaker 3: life back. Now he's planning to expand the program to
- 25:28Speaker 3: additional schools. I love this story.
- 25:30Speaker 2: This is so good.
- 25:31Speaker 3: He is doing so much good. And on top of that,
- 25:33Speaker 3: I will say what he's doing is amazing. Giving cars
- 25:35Speaker 3: to mothers who need these cars more than anything. But
- 25:38Speaker 3: on top of that, he's teaching a life skill on
- 25:40Speaker 3: how to refurbish and re-repair cars.
- 25:43Speaker 1: To kids in high school. That is a lost art.
- 25:47Speaker 3: I mean, that whole world of repairing things on your
- 25:49Speaker 3: own has been completely lost these days. I don't even
- 25:53Speaker 3: know if I can do an oil change and I
- 25:56Speaker 3: can change tires.
- 25:56Speaker 1: That's about it.
- 25:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I can maybe change a tire.
- 25:59Speaker 1: That's it. Exactly.
- 26:00Speaker 3: So for him teaching this life skill to a bunch
- 26:03Speaker 3: of young high schoolers and on top of that, going
- 26:05Speaker 3: above and beyond, and giving women their lives back.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Love this story.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Love it a whole lot. I love to hear when
- 26:11Speaker 2: people are doing good.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Shout out, Eddie.
- 26:13Speaker 2: And if you're looking for a job to help pay
- 26:15Speaker 2: for upcoming holiday expenses, Dick's Sporting Goods is hiring 11,000
- 26:20Speaker 2: seasonal workers across the U.S. The hiring event is tomorrow,
- 26:26Speaker 2: so get those applications in. Get yourself ready for that.
- 26:31Speaker 2: And Dick's Sporting Goods, they bought Foot Locker last year.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I don't know if you were aware of that.
- 26:35Speaker 1: They did, yes.
- 26:36Speaker 2: And so they're also hiring for those stores as well.
- 26:39Speaker 2: So this is just a huge hiring event. If you're
- 26:41Speaker 2: looking for some extra side cash, you need a job,
- 26:43Speaker 2: you need a second job, whatever it is, you just
- 26:46Speaker 2: go on over to their website.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Am I allowed to say their website?
- 26:49Speaker 1: I think.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Probably, right?
- 26:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:51Speaker 4: If we're just talking about a sporting goods store.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Oh.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Go to dix.com slash jobs.
- 26:57Speaker 1: There we go.
- 26:57Speaker 3: You and I could actually go right across the street, Nina.
- 26:59Speaker 3: They have a Dix and a Foot Locker at the
- 27:01Speaker 3: Park Meadows Mall.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Exactly, exactly. I mean, good stuff. It's always good when
- 27:05Speaker 2: these companies are doing big hiring events like this, so
- 27:08Speaker 2: it's all day tomorrow.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and extra cash around the holidays. No one will
- 27:12Speaker 1: complain about that.
- 27:13Speaker 2: No, not at all. So we know singer Sia is
- 27:17Speaker 2: going through a pretty messy divorce right now with her ex.
- 27:20Speaker 2: His name is Daniel Bernard. And they're going through a
- 27:24Speaker 2: custody battle right now.
- 27:25Speaker 4: They do have a son together.
- 27:27Speaker 2: And they have been accusing each other of doing all
- 27:30Speaker 2: sorts of things back and forth. So much so that
- 27:32Speaker 2: the judge was like, um, we're not doing this. You
- 27:36Speaker 2: guys need to go get a therapist or something.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Go to some counseling.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Seriously, like mandatory counseling for them to kind of like
- 27:44Speaker 2: work it out outside of the courtroom because it was
- 27:46Speaker 2: getting a little too messy. And so they are going
- 27:49Speaker 2: through this custody battle right now. Well, the good news
- 27:52Speaker 2: is they finally figured it out. So Sia is going
- 27:56Speaker 2: to remain the primary custodial parent while Daniel will have
- 28:00Speaker 2: a very generous visitation. And then back in April, there
- 28:04Speaker 2: was an agreement for their divorce where Sia is paying
- 28:08Speaker 2: Daniel $ 42, 500 a month in child support, and he doesn't
- 28:14Speaker 2: even have the kid full time.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Gosh, to be a celebrity. That's just crazy.
- 28:19Speaker 2: But they are splitting holidays with their son. They're going
- 28:22Speaker 2: to have to figure all of that out, which I'm
- 28:23Speaker 2: sure there will be more fights behind it. But recently,
- 28:26Speaker 2: Sia did sell her music catalog for $ 180 million.
- 28:30Speaker 4: So Daniel getting.
- 28:32Speaker 2: That spousal support, that child support, I mean... She's able
- 28:35Speaker 2: to pay it. I'm sure she's mad about it, but
- 28:38Speaker 2: he's doing good right now.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I have got to marry rich. I know.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Also, the one thing I thought about right when you
- 28:43Speaker 3: said that, do you think Sia wears her little hats
- 28:45Speaker 3: and wigs in court so that you can't see her face?
- 28:49Speaker 4: Wait, does she?
- 28:49Speaker 2: No, because you're supposed to try to dress professionally for
- 28:53Speaker 2: the judge.
- 28:54Speaker 1: You can wear a suit. You can wear a suit
- 28:55Speaker 1: with your little wig.
- 28:56Speaker 4: I mean, it's part of her.
- 28:58Speaker 1: It is. She's done that her whole career.
- 29:00Speaker 2: That's part of her performance, though. When you're in a courtroom,
- 29:03Speaker 2: the judge is going to be like, Snatch that wig.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Stop it. He's going to say, let me see ya.
- 29:08Speaker 1: All right, here we go.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Elon Musk has pledged something kind of cool here. The
- 29:13Speaker 3: richest man in the world here said that he is
- 29:15Speaker 3: going to give one SpaceX share to every child in America.
- 29:20Speaker 3: The world's richest person posted on X, he posted the
- 29:23Speaker 3: pledge on X earlier. Next year, I'll be giving one
- 29:25Speaker 3: of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This
- 29:27Speaker 3: will be the first of many with approximately around 73
- 29:32Speaker 3: million Americans under the age of 18. The total giveaway,
- 29:36Speaker 3: get this, would exceed 10.5 billion dollars. current stock prices.
- 29:41Speaker 3: And Musk owns around 6.42 billion SpaceX shares.
- 29:44Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 29:45Speaker 3: He's representing an almost 50% stake right now. His net worth,
- 29:50Speaker 3: get this, his net worth stands at an estimated... $ 910 billion.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Ew!
- 29:57Speaker 3: So literally giving $ 10. 5 billion to the rest of the
- 30:01Speaker 3: world is nothing. The announcement appears to be a response
- 30:05Speaker 3: to his Anthropic Sundays pledge to commit 5% of its
- 30:08Speaker 3: shares to a new public benefit fund.
- 30:11Speaker 2: A new public benefit fund that he's creating.
- 30:13Speaker 4: So like, yeah. Okay.
- 30:15Speaker 2: But at least he's doing something finally with all of
- 30:18Speaker 2: that money.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I know.
- 30:19Speaker 3: And like, I don't know, say or believe what you
- 30:22Speaker 3: will about Elon Musk. I do think this is kind
- 30:24Speaker 3: of cool. It's setting up children, um, to get something
- 30:27Speaker 3: in stocks. No one teaches people how to buy, sell
- 30:31Speaker 3: trade stocks. That's not something that you learn in high school.
- 30:34Speaker 3: And I think we are lacking in that department so much. So,
- 30:37Speaker 3: If you are one of those children that is given
- 30:39Speaker 3: this in the next couple decades here, 10, 15 years,
- 30:43Speaker 3: you can really learn how to save and share some
- 30:45Speaker 3: of that. And I think that is an incredibly important
- 30:47Speaker 3: thing to learn and a thing that is way overlooked nowadays.
- 30:50Speaker 2: For sure. Yeah, I wish I learned more about that.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Me too. Even still, I have no idea how to
- 30:55Speaker 2: do any of it.
- 30:56Speaker 3: See, I had to have a major talk with my
- 30:57Speaker 3: dad back when I was like 23, 24 because not
- 31:00Speaker 3: even my college taught me that.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:01Speaker 3: So it's like you have to be very specific in
- 31:03Speaker 3: what you're studying in order to learn anything about that.
- 31:06Speaker 3: So I do like this is, you know, at least
- 31:07Speaker 3: giving you talking points.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Well, he's giving it to you. He's not teaching you
- 31:11Speaker 2: how to use it. So I think he's hoping you
- 31:13Speaker 2: lose it.
- 31:13Speaker 3: No.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Oh gosh, right back to him.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 31:16Speaker 4: I mean, let's be real.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Okay, Cardi B. She just gave me my new favorite
- 31:22Speaker 2: Tiny Desk performance. I am obsessed, Josh.
- 31:26Speaker 1: I haven't seen it yet.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Is it good?
- 31:27Speaker 4: I was watching it on a loop yesterday.
- 31:29Speaker 2: It's so good.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Okay, wait, let me ask you. Hold on. Is it
- 31:32Speaker 1: good or is it just so Cardi B.
- 31:34Speaker 4: Both.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Because she kind of ad-libs during it because it is
- 31:38Speaker 2: obviously live.
- 31:39Speaker 4: So she does ad-libs.
- 31:40Speaker 2: So that's where like the Cardi B personality shines on
- 31:43Speaker 2: these little ad-libs, which I just loved. But her actual performance,
- 31:47Speaker 2: it was really good. She's got all of her raps down.
- 31:49Speaker 2: I mean, she's a performer. She's so good.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 31:53Speaker 2: And then she's just dressed in all black. Her nails
- 31:56Speaker 2: are like black and silver kind of for Halloween. I
- 31:59Speaker 2: was so about it. I'm like, yes, Cardi B, give
- 32:01Speaker 2: me more. And dare I say, I don't know what
- 32:04Speaker 2: the most viewed Tiny Desk concert is, but I really
- 32:07Speaker 2: do think that this one is going to be.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Pretty high up there.
- 32:11Speaker 2: She did a lot of her hits like Up, Bodak Yellow,
- 32:14Speaker 2: I Like It, I mean, all the good ones that
- 32:16Speaker 2: we know and love from Cardi B, and I am obsessed.
- 32:19Speaker 3: She is just a naturally funny girl. She is one
- 32:22Speaker 3: of those people that is just, she can make you
- 32:24Speaker 3: laugh no matter what, so I'd probably watch that one.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Yeah, as you should, as you absolutely should.
- 32:29Speaker 1: I'll watch it when I get home today.
- 32:30Speaker 2: There you go. Josh, I cannot get over it. In
- 32:33Speaker 2: theaters this weekend is the movie Wicker. It was based
- 32:37Speaker 2: off of a book, and it's absurd.
- 32:40Speaker 1: What is it?
- 32:40Speaker 4: It's kind of crazy. So it's this movie.
- 32:43Speaker 2: It's a romance film. It gets really hot and steamy
- 32:47Speaker 2: for all the women who love to watch movies and
- 32:50Speaker 2: read books like that.
- 32:51Speaker 1: It's like a fantasy thing, like a fantasy novel. It is.
- 32:54Speaker 2: It is. But this it's it's it's weird. It's kind
- 32:57Speaker 2: of weird because, OK, it's about this woman. And I'm
- 33:00Speaker 2: not giving away too much. This is just like the
- 33:02Speaker 2: general spoilers.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Right, right, right. The book's been out forever.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Right, exactly. So this woman, she's lonely. She's living in
- 33:08Speaker 2: this little village. It's like a time period piece. And
- 33:11Speaker 2: she asks the local basket maker to make her a
- 33:14Speaker 2: husband out of a basket. And then somehow the basket
- 33:19Speaker 2: man comes alive. There's like kind of a Pinocchio situation.
- 33:23Speaker 2: And he's a man. And he and her get hot
- 33:27Speaker 2: and steamy throughout the movie, which I'm sure those scenes
- 33:29Speaker 2: are going to be fantastic in theaters.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Painful?
- 33:33Speaker 4: That too.
- 33:34Speaker 1: You mean what? A wicker man?
- 33:37Speaker 2: But then it takes a turn. As if that's not
- 33:39Speaker 2: weird enough, this wicker man is extremely jealous. And then,
- 33:46Speaker 2: I don't know how they're going to do it in
- 33:47Speaker 2: the movie, but in the book, it kind of almost
- 33:49Speaker 2: turns into a horror situation. where he becomes too jealous,
- 33:55Speaker 2: too possessive over this woman who created him. and then
- 33:58Speaker 2: we'll have to find out what happens at the end.
- 34:00Speaker 3: This is like the movie that came out, Obsession. This
- 34:04Speaker 3: is like Obsession, the movie, but with like a Frosty
- 34:06Speaker 3: the Snowman.
- 34:07Speaker 1: But with a.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Wicker basket man. And so that's the part that is just,
- 34:11Speaker 2: has the internet rolling, that like really, we're making a
- 34:15Speaker 2: movie about this wicker basket man?
- 34:17Speaker 1: That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard.
- 34:19Speaker 2: So that's gonna be coming out in theaters this weekend,
- 34:21Speaker 2: and yours truly will be first in line.
- 34:23Speaker 1: I'll let you tell me how that goes. That's wild.
- 34:27Speaker 1: All right.
- 34:27Speaker 3: There is a new sunscreen coming out to Americans for
- 34:31Speaker 3: the first time in more than a quarter century. A
- 34:33Speaker 3: new sunscreen has been approved by the FDA. And I
- 34:37Speaker 3: don't the word is bemotrizonal, otherwise known as BEMT. And
- 34:41Speaker 3: there are decades of safety data behind it because it's
- 34:46Speaker 3: been used in Europe as well as other parts of
- 34:48Speaker 3: the world for these decades. Where it minimally absorbs into
- 34:51Speaker 3: the skin. There's no white streaking. You don't have to
- 34:53Speaker 3: put on heavy amounts or anything like this. And that
- 34:55Speaker 3: has been a major concern for sun blocking chemicals for
- 34:59Speaker 3: years and years in America. So I don't know why
- 35:01Speaker 3: it took so long for this to get here. But
- 35:03Speaker 3: this is a much healthier, safer, backed by science and data,
- 35:07Speaker 3: way to block the sun and keep your skin healthy.
- 35:09Speaker 3: And it is now just hitting the stores at Target, Walmart.
- 35:12Speaker 3: You can ask your local grocers or wherever to see
- 35:15Speaker 3: where you can buy it. But I like this. You're
- 35:17Speaker 3: getting a healthier option to be able to block the
- 35:19Speaker 3: sun after decades of not having any new options.
- 35:21Speaker 4: Yes, we need this, especially in Colorado.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Use sunscreen.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Yeah, we're closer to the sun, people, literally. Yes. So
- 35:28Speaker 1: be careful out there.
- 35:29Speaker 2: And the last thing you need to know, Lay's, the chips,
- 35:32Speaker 2: they are coming out with some new flavors for the holidays.
- 35:37Speaker 4: See what they did there?
- 35:37Speaker 1: We're going to make jokes there.
- 35:39Speaker 2: For Thanksgiving and Christmas, a whole bunch of new flavors
- 35:42Speaker 2: that I'm actually interested in trying all of them. Lay's
- 35:45Speaker 2: cheddar scalloped style potatoes for Thanksgiving.
- 35:48Speaker 3: I'm in.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Lay's roasted holiday turkey for Thanksgiving. Kind of like a
- 35:52Speaker 2: savory chip. I feel like it'll be okay. Lay's maple bacon.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Lay's wavy milk chocolate chips.
- 35:59Speaker 3: Yes.
- 36:00Speaker 2: And Lay's wavy Dubai-style dark chocolate.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Absolutely. That's actually a great idea.
- 36:05Speaker 4: Those all sound good.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Now, when chip companies do these weird flavors, sometimes I'm like, eh,
- 36:10Speaker 2: it's too much for me.
- 36:11Speaker 4: What are you doing? This is absurd.
- 36:12Speaker 2: But these actually all sound really tasty.
- 36:14Speaker 1: The only one that's interesting for me is tasting like turkey.
- 36:17Speaker 1: A turkey. A chip tasting like turkey.
- 36:19Speaker 4: The roasted turkey, yeah.
- 36:20Speaker 1: If they can do it, that's awesome. I'll try them.
- 36:22Speaker 2: We'll try it out, but watch out for those new
- 36:25Speaker 2: Lay's flavors. Thank you for spending some time with us
- 36:28Speaker 2: this morning.
- 36:29Speaker 1: We had some fun today.
- 36:30Speaker 2: We absolutely did have some fun today. So it is
- 36:34Speaker 2: time towards the end of the show, Josh.
- 36:37Speaker 4: That we admit our wrongs.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I know. Despite all the fun, we get a lot
- 36:40Speaker 1: wrong on the show. We do, we do.
- 36:41Speaker 3: And it's very unfortunate, but mine was kind of funny today.
- 36:44Speaker 3: I had zero clue that there was this new movie
- 36:48Speaker 3: slash book coming out where- Essentially, a woman falls in
- 36:52Speaker 3: love with a wicker man.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Correct me if I'm wrong.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Still, she falls in love with a wicker man, and
- 36:59Speaker 3: it's made for her to be her husband, and they
- 37:01Speaker 3: get it on a lot.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Is that essentially what happens?
- 37:03Speaker 4: Essentially, yes.
- 37:04Speaker 2: And then I think by the end of the movie,
- 37:06Speaker 2: he gets really possessive and jealous.
- 37:09Speaker 1: As one wicker man would.
- 37:11Speaker 4: Creates quite a conflict, yeah.
- 37:13Speaker 1: What a world we live in. All right, well, go
- 37:15Speaker 1: see that, Nina, for me. I'm not going to go
- 37:16Speaker 1: see it.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Let me know.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Let me know how it is. It's all good. I
- 37:21Speaker 1: guarantee you, you could not get your husband to go
- 37:23Speaker 1: with you. Oh, never. That's what I'm saying. So don't
- 37:25Speaker 1: get mad at me for not going.
- 37:26Speaker 2: He would walk out or fall asleep or whatever. But,
- 37:30Speaker 2: you know, as long as he can buy me like
- 37:31Speaker 2: a slushie and hang out with me.
- 37:33Speaker 4: For a little bit, I think that would be OK.
- 37:34Speaker 1: See, that's a good husband. All right. What did you
- 37:36Speaker 1: get wrong?
- 37:37Speaker 4: I got wrong.
- 37:38Speaker 2: This whole Jalen Hurts story that we've been hearing about.
- 37:41Speaker 2: I mean, it made it to my timeline and it's
- 37:43Speaker 2: just like this major medical situation where he has all
- 37:46Speaker 2: these blood clots. But I did see the story where
- 37:50Speaker 2: they kept him awake for 36 hours. Crazy. But I
- 37:53Speaker 2: didn't realize that before that. They also sent him on
- 37:57Speaker 2: a flight to England to play a game.
- 38:00Speaker 3: It's literal malpractice or negligence, something where, yeah, they found
- 38:05Speaker 3: out that a football player named Jalen.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Hurts, who plays for the Eagles.
- 38:08Speaker 3: had blood clots in his legs at the time, and
- 38:10Speaker 3: then they said, hey, we're going to put you on
- 38:11Speaker 3: a plane, fly you across the pond to go play
- 38:15Speaker 3: football in England.
- 38:17Speaker 1: While you have blood clots.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Which is so dangerous.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Oh, and on top of that, we're going to keep
- 38:21Speaker 3: you awake because sleeping you could die. So you're not
- 38:23Speaker 3: going to get any sleep before said football game.
- 38:26Speaker 4: That is so crazy. I just hope that he's going
- 38:28Speaker 4: to be okay.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Me too.
- 38:29Speaker 2: I'm glad that now at least he's receiving the medical
- 38:33Speaker 2: attention that he deserves and needs, but.
- 38:35Speaker 1: On top of that, they actually flew him back from
- 38:37Speaker 1: England to Philly.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Oh, gosh. Nina, what is that?
- 38:40Speaker 4: That's so dangerous.
- 38:41Speaker 2: I don't know what they're doing.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Y'all cray-cray.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Y'all are cray. But yeah, so that's definitely what I
- 38:48Speaker 2: got wrong. I got at least that part of the
- 38:49Speaker 2: story wrong today.
- 38:51Speaker 1: They got a lot. Hey, you got less wrong than
- 38:52Speaker 1: the Eagles did, okay?
- 38:54Speaker 2: True that.
- 38:54Speaker 1: You are good. Don't worry.
- 38:55Speaker 2: And I will take it.
- 38:58Speaker 4: Check us out online, Mix100. com.
